Attention: Don't buy from e-buy-global.com ! It's strange that they got mobile phones 70% cheaper, e.g. 8600 Luna - $150. It's that odd, that it doesn't even cover production expenses... So, my advice: don't even write to them. They aren't really from Italy! Their host is somewhere in Israel! It might aswell be some kid playing around behind his PC, and getting his money off our backs. When I asked for their company's registration number, business rate, or something like that, the director replied to me they haven't got it for anybody. I've had this phone for about six months now and it's absolutely excellent. great quality, excellent photo capabilities, great sound and checking my email on it is a breeze (though it takes awhile sometimes). It's lightweight and easy to slip into a pocket, the original ring tones aren't half bad and the voice activation is entertaining. I would highly recommend this phone to other people!

d870 is just samsug d900 except its triband and has edge. d600 had an edge version called d600e and now the d900 has an edge version d870

D870 is a good phone but samsung should have to include FM radio and if possible wifi.Sound quality is good and the good thing it has T.V. Output.I love this phone. But if we compare this phone with Nokia N80. This phone has a better sliding machanisim than N80 less weight and slim.wide screen.just need to built a radio inside than this will be the best seller mobile in the region.

I love samsung phone, the more they stuff thier phone, the more advance they become. Samsung phones i believe has the simpiest menu and function and it is not confusing meaning always direct to the point with a touch of class and premium taste. Unlike Nokia and se, the more they put stuff on thier phone, the more confusing and compicated with thier menus and functions.

Again Nokia and SE fans has this feeling of insecurity and inferiority and that is the truth because they come to samsung forum just comparing thier nokia/se phones to samsung phones and not only that they criticized samsung phones cause they thought that thier phone is better but "WRONG". As for us, Samsung loyals, are always stayed cool cause we are confident enough that samsung phones always shine from the rest with regard of advance function, designs and build quality which other manufacturer can equal but cannot surpass. We seldom go to nokia/se forums cause thier phones are second rate trying hard gadget. So all samsung fans stay cool and relax.

UMM.... Anyone answer me please.. What I posted before is wrong.. I posted z70.. I mean z710.. Here's the question... 1.I wonder is the size of text in samsung slide and samsung flip is not the same? I mean in samsung flip, the size of text is bigger, slimmer and more difficult to read coz in one page,most are big letters with short lines... YOu know what I mean right..? My sis old samsung flip was like this... and i hate it.. when I found her new D600, the text is much smaller and more systematic. 2.How many lines in a page (ex: to write sms)in z710? choose D870 and Z710 both, in case you wont need 3G but needs a slim or unique phone, buy n80 than n90 n90 has nothing but a handycam/digicam design nothing else to beat n80, k750 has better camera than n90 and n80 has better camera than k750 but not in macro of same distances, one word for these two, phone has design that backs to stone age, sorry nokia fans,, samsung has far better design tan these one, only few are techno fans in the whole wide world,,

Moto, if you don't make a 3.2 MP phone in a slider and thin (less than 14.8mm) phone by september, for the first time in my life, I would buy a different brand, and this samsung D900...fits on me. Awesome phone.. you don't need a laptop for presentations, WOW WOW WOW, and the FM radio, Is not a problem for me, I want a great design, a great camera, and an expandible memory for MP3.. moto hurry up or I will buy this Samsung.

doesn't an autofocus work when you press the camera button half way? i've seen pictures of the d900 and the camera button doesn't look like it allows you to push it only half way.

I love Motorola, motorola has my heart, but motorola don't realize slider phones, and they don't have 3mp camera, so, Samsung has that and an incredible design, Nokia and SE are a very chubby models. with a lot of features, but they don't fit in a pocket when RAZR and Samsung do.

For the anonymous poster who implied there was no comparison with the Nokia N73 � you are right. How can you compare the Nokia which is 26mm thick and weighs 134gm with the D870 that is a mere 13mm thick and weighs only 93gm? The Nokia is TWICE as thick and weighs almost 50% more that the D870. It obviously depends where your priorities lie. Surprisingly, when I buy a mobile phone, that�s what I expect to get � a phone that is mobile (i.e. that I can slip into a pocket and not notice its there) - not a camera (I have a DSLR for that), nor an MP3 player (I can get an Ipod for that), nor a radio, nor an organiser etc etc. etc. � I just want a PHONE to be a PHONE (what a novel concept that is!) and to be in as small a package as is convenient. The D870 meets those criteria, the Nokia doesn�t.

Thanks "DarkLord", so I was right..FM radio is not actually a phone feature..comes with acceseries. And to the unknown, posted below. D870 has the same specs without the Carl Zeiss optics and secondary cam (its not 3g). But you can always compare n73 with Z710 that has 3.2 MP, 2048x1536 pixels, Autofocus, video(CIF), flash; secondary VGA video call camera etc. However none of these are symbian like the n73.

Well on my E730, i can only listen to the radio when the headphones are plugged in, and thats the same for other phones too as far as im aware. This is because the headphones & cable attached act as the ariel, without it the phone cant pick up a radio signal. With E730 & headphones in you can enable the speaker and listen and it's quite good quality, but unplug the headphones and you loose the radio.

quite frankly i would like to see a full compoarison btwn n73, k800, ef91 and the d870. (also probably the z710). and not just the camera, as a total phone, screen, mp3 player the works and see who comes out on top. my guess would be the n73, but would can only hope that they do one.

I have a very besic question about fm radio in cell phone. Will appreciate if anyone answers. I have noticed that nokia phones always comes with fm-radio and most of the samsung phones desn't.And people complain. Then I heard that in some Nokia models you basically cant listen to radio on the speakers.Coz there is no build-in fm tuner. You have to attach the heardset which is actually attacted to a fm tuner to listen, so in other words you are basically using the phones battery to listen to radio and they call it as a feature that it has fm radio.Now thats a shame. My question is, Is that the case with all the fm-radio phones or there are models with build-in fm tuner? Thanks

When you have a 3.2 is like having a 1.3 and a 2.0...is up to you how to use the picture size. my point is that a phone might look great but it it might be a bad phone(like motorola v3). and if the phone has a 1.3 or a 3.2 in the end its how good the camera is. i prefer a 1.3 great camera than a 3.2 cruppy one. But for know its pointless to talk when the phone is not out yet. i really hope it will be great cause i would like this to be my next phone

my mistake i meant to say Nokia and SE are not concerned about the look and making dull looking phones and they are not bothered about the wieight either. Nokia phones are so heavy..you cant keep them in ur shirt pocket.. they are not compromising on quality but, they can never reach the quality of a music player like ipod or a dedicated digital camera either. Bottom line is, Samsung is doing well. You DO NOT need such a good mp3 player or a digital camera in your phone.

@Jon That's where Samsung has an edge over other brands. They have most of the features still the model looks way better than the rest and it's light weight. abouts the 1.3 mpx vs 3.2 and over mpx camera... I do belive that its worthless. It depeneds on ur purpose. Even if you have a 3.2mpx cam..you have to take the picture in low resolution if you want to send it through MMS to othet cell phones. (coz there is file size restriction in MMS). if you have a 3.2mpx cam, well you can take a nice picture save it in your computer and then print it(thats where it will matter who has a good camera, lens and auto focus)..but can u send that file to others over email or over bluetooth or MMS?..NO you have resize it to 640X48. or 600x800 and when you do that it all looks same, no matter it's nokia or samsung or sharp or anything. People are going crazy buying nokia N91 for over 1000USD coz the sound quality is good. When they will grow some brain that no matter how good it is, it can't beat ipod in quality and battery life. My point is we love to have all te features..a nice looking phone with mp3/video and resonably good camera...and samsung just offer that. Nokia and SE for some reason forgot that its after all a phone and they are concerned about the phones look or weight. I love Samsung for that.

i dont think this phone will be great. its todays technology just packed in a small device, nothing new to offer. i hope samsung wont compromize the quality of the phones features just for the sake of a small device. i mean sharp 903 has a one of the best 3.2 mp camera with optical zoom and great video capabilities. this phone has also a 3mp camera but will be better than a last year mobile phone's camera????

I see nokia being driven into a samsung fright, they're trying to cram everthing inside the puny little device, almost weighing 0.2 kilogram, in order to stay in the boundaries of competition. Samsung has a nice tactic of slowly adding new features to their phone to make other companies tremble.

I've got a D500 and looking for much better upgrade for it. I liked the D820 for its looks and slim design. But then i saw that the D600 is better in technology. so i checked for a better phone, then came across this D870, GOOD PHONE, its got all i need, the 3.2mp camera, doc viewer, EDGE, and a TV output. to PU2m, then do not buy samsung phone ever. It is your lost not ours. Put it in your mind that this is SAMSUNG and not Nok or SE , so why samsung bother to imitate other manufacturer's features when samsung has it's own unique features which other manufacturers do not have. Samsung features, i believe are ideal and easy to manipulate which all features are realistic and can be used fully. I currently own a D600, much happy with it i must say. This D870 has been realesed to correct the flaws of the Award Winning D600 and so it shud be perfect. I didn't see anything new on the specs except Edge & AutoFocus. I must Agree, radio would have been a big bonus....but nevertheless IT'S ALL GOOD! Go SAMSUNG GO SAMSUNG, YOU THE MAN!!!

its small,slick,good looking.nice smooth angles,the slider design really rock when it comes to looks.and its more then u really need. 3.2 mp with autofocus,come on guyz,the pictures will be super cool,desktop wallpaper quality.it has expandable mem,1 sd card has a max of 2 gb think,so its like the new ipod nano.im still not sure about the zoom,and the video quality.and its not enough to have mp3 support, w/o some nice mp3 organising soft.it should have the capablity to program mp3,in the order you want,to organise playlist,and a lot other.im damn sure this will be my next phone if i like the video quality..looking forward for a rewiew...best regards

1st of all... what's wrong with slide phones? It's better than a stereotypical Nokia/Sony-Ericson brick phone~. With all the rest of the people talking about Samsung phones... YES~ it is true that Samsung tests the phones in Korea first before they are launched worldwide~. So when it comes to reliability and quality I don't quite agree that Nokia and Motorolla are necessarily better... I'm Korean...and I have used a Nokia and a Motorolla...but I gave it a kick [this was late 90s...like 97~99] and ever since then I used Samsung [T100~D410~D500] and they have the best AS (After Service) whether it be face-to-face or via phone. The only problem I've ever had was with T100 when it was first released as colour screens while almost all phones were black/white screen! Technology-wise...I see Samsung surpassing most if not all the brands soon enough! Go Samsung~~

actually samgsung uses other companies technologies. as someone said, for cellphones they use Qualcomm chips, and so does LG. samsung being saying for years (since they took the tv/screens #1 position) they would all the tech all over, cameras, mp3, cellphones etcs. but really they don't show much progress lately. they are loosing market share while nokia and motorola are gaining. (probably because all their phones looks alike with really minor changes) and also that unpractical UI. its cameras being of average quality and mp3 players not with so many features as others manuf. and also they announce lots of phones and only release a few. they are just to input records. and forget about quality thats why i won't buy a samgsung in a long time til they show any progress, and take more attention to one phone instead of releasing lots. WORLDWIDE.

First off, its bravia, not brivia. as some people may or may not know, sony arent doing as well financially as they used to. they prefer now to let other companies develop, then they take that technology. they're not the only company, bang and olufsen use samsung for there phone (serene) and philips for hifi components. my point is that samsung are a good company at designing and developing products and i think credit where credts due.

oh people, can u not understand that sony has already lost its glory. Samsung now is the star in digital era while sony had its time in the analog era. Why can't you SE fans accept that SONY and ERICSSON both once the leading force in electronics has to merge because they cannot compete alone. Its interesting to read about last few post here and I couldn't resist the temptation to add some more. For long mobile phone considered to be for communication only and Nokia, Motorola being the leaders, were doing great.Still they are number one and two. But time has changed and now a cell phone doesn't mean only for communication. Its time to have as much thing as possible in one device that we carry around. and their comes Samsung and Sony-Ericsson. Camera/camcorder/mp3 player/computers, these are the fields that Sony has been mastering for long. I do agree with "Ajay", when it comes to camcorder or a laptop or a CD walkman one can trust Sony without a second thought. But you cant be the master in all. Regardless of award winning fd trinitron picture tube, It is Samsung who is leader in display technology. Sony makes good digital cameras. But I would rather buy a Nikon or Canon when it comes to digicam. When it comes to mp3 player I would buy an iPod. Sony has been in the field from 1930, but my dear we are talking about cell phone here. From when they got paired up with Ericsson?..of course not 1930. I'm not saying Sony is no good..they are best in certain field and they have the biggest potential among all as well. Now take a look at Samsung. First of all its the Korea-Japan market which is leading the cell phone industry. Everyone releases their new model there first. Samsung/LG being Korean company try out there new invention in there and by the time they release it to the rest of world, Motorola or Nokia already had a competing model in the market and people say hey that's a copy. Samsung is in all the fields, be it digital camera/mp3 player/display technology/computers/cell phone. That's the advantage of Samsung, they don't have to merge with another company to have any technology.Yes I agree when you compared it to Sony, Samsung camera or camcorder doesn't do that good. But still in cell phone with all the features, they are a little ahead of SE. In fact it should be the Samsung and SE that should replace Nokia or Motorola in coming days. Nokia or Motorola does not have those technologies in-house. They are trying hard to keep up. Nokia is well known for the user-friendlyness of their software so its not a big problem for them to incorporate those features, so they are doing good. But I feel bad looking at Motorola..they are still trying to short out their software problems. And they will be the 1st one lose the 2nd spot. I think its high time they merge with a company who has expertise on those field, like how Ericsson has with Sony or now BenQ has with Seimens.

Interesting people should comment that SE make the best phones; I do agree, in terms of all aspects of phone quality - the style, reliability, features, size, value etc etc. Samsung, a Korean brand (so is LG) has been leading in phone features - in memory capacity and specially in cameras. 3.2MP is not new, Sharp had it for some time now, as well as Toshiba and the new SE W800. Samsung however, must be considered as a threatening force as it confidently accels in its phone technology. In Korea, 5MP camera phone had been ordinary in 2004. Now attempting at 10MP. Leading brands, SE, NOKIA are pouring tears trying to fit in 3.2MP. This does not make Samsung the best phone company. I still go for SE. There are many reasons for this.

EJMJS - in response to your opinon about "dealers", i work for 02 and whenever i am selling a handset i would usually go for something the customer wants a certain feature of phone brand. THE REASON: because a customer wont buy something from me if they dont want it or it doesnt have any features they need,(NEEDS ANALISYS) WE DONT GET PAID EXTRA for selling cheaper handsets, just for making target. Well this is the way 02 operate i cant speak for the other phone networks. Now some phones which come with tarrifs like 3000 mins for �15 (t-mobile, orange). These are the deals that come with crap phones! Why? Because it wouldn't be very cost affective for any business to offer thoses deals to all customers, so they bundle it with a crap handset and hope customers who dont care about phones will go for it. you cant always trust the dealers tho. they get more commision for handsets that cost less. saves the company more money overall to upgrade customers to lower costing handsets. your better off researching yourself and if you decide this phone over the d600 then go for it. just remember your likely to be stuck with this for 11 months so dont just take one mans word for it. good luck mate.

It's great how Samsung are pulling out all these handset which are great in features & looks although missing bits and pieces it still a great phone. In my opinion I reckon samsung should start looking out the 3g market. It is slowly creeping up to a standard network (i reckon about 3-5 yrs). Samsung is doing a great job hope they would kill it in the 3g world aswell.

believe it or not, even if phones are of different form factors they rival each other and take sales from each other take K750i and D600, they are rivals. Also, 2.5G GSM products can rival 3G UMTS products like Nokia 6280 and Samsung d600, they are rival phones.

I wonder how could you compare this with SE K800/K790, M80 or Z710. Its absard. Lets take a look: K800 has same features but thats 3G..so not in the same category. K790 has same features but in candy-bar format. Z710 has same features but its calmshell. Im keeping N80 out of the equaltion coz its uncomparable with any of the phone anounced so far. This is the thnnest Slider. If you want to compare, compare it with other sliders.

Just saw copuple of live pictures. The pictures here doesnt do the justice in my opinion. It looks slim and sleek compared to D600. They added capabilities of switching MP3 player to background mode, business cards scanner and ofcourse 3.2mpix cam in just 13mm. Supposed to be released in this summer, will cost aroud 420-440 Euros. But there is no mention of 3d duel speakers or video recording/playback capabilities like D600. Link:

Do you know how many SMS text the D870 phone will store? Can you block numbers on this model like you can on the D500? What is security like?

I think this handset is really interesting, and could be one of sams better phones for this year, but alas it will be pricey methinks and who knows if we will ever see it in the UK.. hmm ;o)

Just hope with the big screen they sort out its file manager function on the new models Samsung,the D600 was o.k but viewing photos an videos was not able to seem them on the full screen(you could do on the K750i SE model)either so this model will easily compete an beat the N80 Nokia so get this model out please Samsung as quick as you can please

the camera quality sounds impressive, but doesnt anyone else think that samsung handsets all look so similar. (i300 being an exception) i understand that a manufacturer has a certain style but i cant tell them apart (well not easily anyway). please samsung start bringing more handsets out that are uniqely styled.

Another Samsung phone....Okay, I agree it is one of the first good looking handhelds with a 3.2 Mp camera. But what really drives me crazy is (and I am working in a mobile phone shop -Holland-) that Samsung dumps so many phones on the market, how to keep up our knowledge?!! It drives the customer crazy and also the workers in the mobile shops!! I stopped studying them. It's so frustating....
