Motorola DROID 4 XT894 - User Reviews

  • I've been wondering... how would this phone performs when running Sailfish OS?

  • This is a great phone if you want to record a concert. It does 1080p with stereo sound. Main advantage is that the mic doesn't get hammered by high sound levels, so the audio doesn't get distorted (as with most cellphones).

  • There is a LG Genesis with touch & physical keyboard & it has Wifi. (Only 32GB initial storage), so that should mean after bloat ware you have 16 for personal storage. It is a Smart Phone -- has wifi. Look for it on the internet. It was on the Celular Carrier. Explains why I never saw it in my Verizon Carrier Stores. I would have purchased it, since I really enjoyed the Envy Touch (which though not a wifi smart phone, it still was a wonderfully intelligent basic phone). Genesis was considered the all grown up EnV.

  • ram is 841mb and installed fake apps 412mb free is 429.half ram 4 fake apps I not need that.sham u motorolla

  • work on Lineage os 14.1 with android 7.1.2 - LOL

  • I have it as a backup phone running the snapshot release of cm13 MM 6.01 and works ok, not as snappy as my LG G4 but its fine.

  • I am looking for a new in the box and sealed xt894. I will pay you a véry good price for this, please let me know by a comment here if you have one and how I can contact you!

  • Bro, i updated to 6.0 its not for me the best is 4.4 liquid smooth oo its smooth and better than CM in performance

  • i am looking for a motorola xt894 battery in nigeria

  • Just got it running on 5.1.1@CM. Not as fast as I taught it would be but a brilliant phone overall. Keyboard is very comfortable, keys work soft and accurate - this was most important to me and price as you can get it pretty cheap now. Can't say how reliable it is but looks like an affordable phone that does the job.

  • Did you finded out about tje storage?

  • my hotspot don't work in Ghana it says checking subscribs... to Verizon servers but it won't work.... please help me solve this.....

  • Take the back off under that rubber flap where the simple card is there's a place for an sd

  • Phone work in Bosnia and hercegovina to me is network mode GSM/UMTS network strength 87dBm whether it is usual? Recently my phone lag, do you have advice for application or adjust the phone

  • work in bosnia

  • Mine has one lol

  • IS this phn work properly with gsm network??

  • CDMA usage is only for INJECT My friend!

  • Hi guys. I just ordered for this CDMA mobile. Can someone tell me if reliance CDMA will work in it for internet.

  • if you guys want to use it in Europe, it is better that you find a local seller of the phone due to its American origin, they need to change it to be usable in Europe networks. I bought one (new, but I think it was more likely refurbished, but rooted and with useful things instaled) for 3000 CZK which is 120€. It runs smoothly (well in 90% cases, 1,2 GHz CPU is still not enough for the new FireFox), I like it very much, it's the largest phone with a physical keyboard.

  • I am thinking of buying. Is this a dual sim mobile? I am okay if CDMA internet does not work. Pl advise

  • can it work in Croatia

  • Anyone know if this phone works in the uk?

  • this mobile's Data mode/ internet does not work in india if sim card is CDMA . so do not buy this phone if you you want to use it in india. i purchased this phone from ebay few days before and now suffering from no data mode for cdma network.

  • In Italy it works, but only GSM, EDGE and HSDPA (3G): the phone has a 700 MHz band for 4G/LTE and italian carriers have different bands (800 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2600 MHz) so check croatian 4G/LTE bands if you want to use it faster

  • Hi can Droid 4 XT894 able to use in Singapore tnx ECC

  • Can it work on networks in Europe(Croatia)?

  • good phone but not globally...does not work with cdma data globally.

  • wooow....this droid 4 has cool specs....hope to enjoy it bettter when rooted

  • ......

  • No, you're thinking of the Photon Q (and even then, there ARE mods where people have made their own sim trays)

  • I just received my droid4 from assurion today (4/20/15), and in the box came a Verizon "credit card" sized card with a SIM card attached, which is disconnected from the bigger card.. Then under the camera and above the battery is a small cover that says, "Lift to Access MicroSIM" and it slided right in there. My question is what are the three slots along the side of the battery that each look like a MicroSD slot? Mine's ID'ed as a DROID4/FCC:IHP56MN1 date 1/24/15.

  • Sim card slot is available in my Droid 4!Hungary

  • Oddly enough mine has a sim card slot in back under the cover.

  • There is NO sim card slot, unless you make it by yourself, lol.

  • Yep.

  • the phone is a piece of junk breaks in one misusage.

  • where will i insert d sim nd d memory card

  • Internal memory showing 16 GB but I am able to use 8 GB only....? Official update is not available for OS Upgrade above 4.1.2 till 2-MAR-15 how to update manually

  • can you connect to wifi with this phone

  • does this phone do screenshots

  • I installed cyanogen mode with 2g/3g support. You can also edit some android settings file(i forget which one check blogs) but when I done it my phone was slow. So I install cyanogen mode.

  • how can i use 2G or 3G sim cad and support network ? please tell me anyone...

  • The only issue I have with the Droid 4 is the battery which doesn't have much juice. I find I am plugging it in several times a day just to keep it running. I carry two(2) battery packs to re-juice it and sometimes that just not enough. That being said, the Droid 4 is an exceptional phone, nice to hold and the slider keyboard feels natural. It has a very reasonable speed and handles a 32GB SD card without problems. But after this experience I will not purchase a phone that you can not swap batteries. With my old Droid if the power got low I just switched batteries and in 30 seconds I was back to full power.

  • It's actually not horribly thick for a slider phone. Although it is thicker than traditional phones it is very comfy to hold. It also is a very quick phone for only having 1GB ram and 1.2 GHz processor. I recommend this phone to anyone looking for a budget phone that doesn't want to lose any speed.

  • Hi All, Could anyone tell me if the phone is thick ie chunky..? or thin??

  • This phone has 3 years of being released, and is still the best GSM phone sporting a qwerty keyboard IMO. This is my backup phone, running Kit Kat. Smooth as butter, it even runs heavy games as GTA San Andreas & Nova with no effort. If it wasnt for my shiny G2, this would still be my main phone!

  • cool

  • can anyone tell me if the 4g works in the UK on this phone? thanks

  • i am running liquidsmooth android 5.0.1 nightly (not newest)

  • I am using cm11 4.4.4 now. It is cool and smooth.

  • I want to upgraded android version 4.4

  • yes you can connect it using hdmi port

  • Ive been using this phone for just a couple of months, and I love it, it is amazing, fast, complete, I cant ask for more.

  • please can this phone be connected to 'tv'.

  • Great phone. Just it doesnt work on older GSM network in Europe. So make sure you have 3G signal :)Other from that great phone, no need to unlock it, really fast internet, great camera, hdmi port, hd video recording and really bright flash which comes handy at night as flashlight :)

  • I am using this on GSM in Czech Republic without problem.

  • don't worry it works 100%.

  • alright go Romania!!!!!

  • Hi, where have I to buy this phone, to be fully compatible with GSM Romania? I just heard a some situations that people took this phone from ebay, and it couldn't run with Orange Romania GSM because of this Verizon thing...Can anyone help me?

  • I also got this phone and works in Romania 3g+. Best keyboard phone ever.

  • yes and yes. I use Droid4 in Romania

  • this phone can be use gsm and data work outside usa :)

  • This is a fantastic phone. It does everything I need it to do to run my business while I am traveling or at the office. I stay in touch with my emails, and text messages, as well as my Linkedin Network, and Facebook friends. I especially like the slide out keypad. It makes it much easier for texting, and answering emails as well as searching the web. I am considering switching providers, but have not done so yet waiting to see if I can unlock the phone. I like the phone enough that if I can't unlock it to switch carriers, I will probably stay put rather than switch to another phone.

  • I want a new phone. Now I own Nokia N900 - old, without new aplications etc ... Is this phone good for replace it? How it is with battery (on internet, or is possible to replace it)? Where you bought it, I'm from Europe - ebay?

  • Live in Ontario -- stock JB works fine with full service and everything on Virgin mobile. Recently upgraded to CM11, also works fine, but you NEED to install the Verizon CDMA Patch (just google that, you'll find Internauta37's patch on his blog)

  • is this a smartphone

  • Yes it does.

  • Do have any issue with it? also which guide do you follow to use CM11? Need upgrade 2.3 to 4.1 to 4.4 or just direct 2.3 to 4.4?

  • It is known to work in Germany with CyanogenMod 11. Maybe it also works with the stock ROM, but I am not sure.

  • has anyone here got this Droid 4 outside the US working under GSM and DATA?

  • I have this puppy and it is very good. Running 4.4.3 android with CM11... :)

  • Since March 2013 Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) oficial update is available for all Droid 4 users:

  • i love this phone

  • first off all id like to say i did not write this in order bash or hate on motorola just thought id give some people a heads up about the droid 4. This phone phone about 2 years old, I love Motorola, but even I have to point out the specs are poor and outdated, the battery is acually worse than the droid razr which I didn't beleave was possible, there is not enough ram it says 1gb of ram but you only really get about 850mb left the rest used by the system, the OMAP processor does not help out this phone at all,it heats up,they really should of gone with a tegra,or snapdragon...or something thatas not an OMAP plus there aren't that many developers left that support it so cyanogonmod and other roms seems to be its last hope if you want to be up to date on android for like maybe one or two more versions with this phone, and ps its not going to get android 4.4 kitkat upate from motorola or verizon and will remain on 4.1.2 if you dicide to stick to the stock software. if not then thats were custom roms come in,i will however say that the keyboard is really good, its as good as it gets when it come to qwerty keyboards on phones, and the desighn of the phone is also good as well, in fact most of motorolas phones are really good quality, i have the droid razr, razr hd, (main phone) even there failed droid xyboard tablet, and i wrote this entire comment...using a droid 4 so im not just randomly hating on this phone, basically what i want to say is that if your planing on getting this phone as your main phone, and you know your gonna be stuck with it for a while,i urge you to reconsider looking for a different phone, unless you dont use your phone at all or just arent convinced or better yet into a more recent model from motorola, such as the moto x,or the moto g, or soon to be moto e, or you can just go to there website. if your still not convinced, are your still getting this phone, good luck, and heres just a list of things to google that will make it somewhat usable: what is root ? droid 4 root xposed installer webtop (the reasone i got the phone in the first place) xda developers (if you need help with anything android or linux) reohstate ram expander

  • I don't know where you live, but I can use it in Europe without unlocking. You need to have android ICS above, someone said. There are lots of site how to upgrade android os if necessary.

  • hi does anyone know how to Unlock this handset to network?

  • New update for stability?

  • do you get web through page plus and is it high for the data use?

  • According to the specs the droid 4 has. adobe flash. But according to news a while back adobe had pulled the plug on flash for android phones. So does the droid 4 have adobe flash? Secondly I watched a you tube video on this phone. It states that even though.the phone has an 8mp camera it is poor quality compered to other 8mp phones. But that droid 4 was running.on gingerbread. Is there any improvement on ICS. Thanks for your time. Regards nijinski

  • This phone is really good. Keyboard is nice and easy to use even with my large hands. Screen is sharp and clear. Storage is 16GB internally, so I heardly use my external SD card memory. It works with GSM network if Android is upgraded to ICS or above. In UK, you need to set GSM network (not automatic), otherwise the signal is very weak somehow. Only downside woudl be LTE is only 700MHZ, so I cannot use 4G LTE in UK. This phone is now nearly 2 years old anyway, but still work fast without any problem. You can get a decent second hand ones around 70-90 pounds from ebay. So it is very worth trying if you want to need a full keyboard with your mobile phone.

  • It's sad that the LTE is 700MHz only. It looks like a wonderful phone, but with LTE limited to 700MHz, taking it out of the US means that the phone is at best stuck at HSPA+, which isn't cool. They should've made the phone at least support LTE 700MHz (LTE used in the USA) and LTE 2600MHz (Global LTE- used in practically every other country outside the USA). I'm really thinking of importing one given how phones with Qwerty is as rare as they come over here in Malaysia, but the lack of LTE2600 is a downside. Sure, the Malaysia telcos and the local radio regulatory body have all announced that they will partner with the rest of Asia to make it so 700MHz will be available as to ease roaming for visitors coming from the US, but when will that happen? And if it does happen, does it block phones with local Sim cards in them?

  • How did you get yours to work in Korea? Mine doesn't want to connect to my carriers network

  • looking good.. excellent qwerty keys..and besides i would like to buy one ..

  • anyone know howto is done to move the system has the últmo think and want to put the gingerbread

  • pls y is any wallpaper effect not xtended to the menu...no mata d wallpaper used...d menu list always has a black background

  • A underrated phone..should be more viral because i like qwerty keys

  • What part of non-removable Li-Ion battery didn't you understand??? But you can take it to their care center and they will sort you out... although at a fee possibly... then you can continue to enjoy

  • Micro-sim!

  • no click for motorola droid 4

  • I tried to take off the battery, and I think it cut the cord. Now I regret i just dont know what to do i cant turn it on.

  • I live in England and 2 years ago I bought Droid 3, it didnt work for about a week with o2, but when I turn it on later it did work but I was having problems with internet from o2, I went to the shop and everyting was working ok ;)

  • Ebay and they can fix you up with Page Plus same coverage much cheaper. I had some on their set mine up to run on Page plus she was awesome. her price was 38.95 mine runs soild on 3g love it

  • HELP, where can I get DROID 4 without 2 year contract in US? Does anybody know any website or online store?

  • Greeting to Slovakia. I have a question about 2G and 3G conectivity. Is it working proprietly? And what about using it with slovakian operator? Did you have to make some unlocking or is it okay? Thank you. Im from Czech republic and im not sure about this. :)

  • Nice one and the only one android phone with qwerty and great hardware specs.

  • I'm using it in South Korea. If you upgrade to ICS, GSM will be available. Very nice because it's extremely rare in my country and it has physical qwerty keyboard.

  • Perfectly working in Chilean GSM carriers, on Android ICS+

  • yes, it work in EU i have this phone on Slovakia

  • its a cdma ????? how can I buy in india

  • Does this work in the EU? Guess so, but I am not sure.

  • no mini-SIM, but Micro-SIM and upgradable to v4,1,2 ( jelly bean) official

  • yes it will work. as i have friends who have this phone, which was purchased from ebay.

  • from 21.3.2013 on official jelly bean 4.1.2

  • very complete smartphone... nice... wtb the price?

  • Can anyone please tell me if this phone will work in india as it is basically a verizon mobile??please help me guyz..

  • OF COURSE YOU CAN. Its a smartphone, 4G LTE, the fastest you can get.

  • i have had this phone for a couple days now, and easily i can say its one of the best phones i ever had. Its fast, it doesnt freeze, the camera works great, and I love the auto smart actions feature that automatically puts your phone on vibrate at night during your sleeping hours.

  • Are you able to use data? I.E. go on the internet other than WiFi?

  • This phone is not available outside of US but it work with GSM networks in other countries. I've bought one on the ebay and I didn't even need to remove any sim-lock. It just worked on Verizon firmware. I have some VZ junk but it's the only problem.

  • has anyone been able to use this in Canada? I've been considering buying it and using it on the Sask-Tel Network here in Saskatchewan. It seems like it'd work here, we've got one of the best networks in Canada. Just wondering if I ordered this phone and slipped in a sim if it will indeed work? Will I be unable to use some features?

  • Does anyone know when this phone will be available in Romania? I like it and i want it!

  • Some Chinese guys even made 2.3 to work with GSM, of course my source now already uses official 4.0 with the phone unlocked. The source is from Hong Kong and if you can arrange to make payment there, I think they can ship it out to other countries.

  • Yes, now it's unlocked. Only versions of Droid 4 with Android 4.0 (ICS) can be used on GSM networks. Droid 4 with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) can be used only on CDMA network.

  • my thumb is TOO big so i hate touch keypad. I wanna get it but it not on sale in S.Korea.

  • can i use it in russia?

  • Motorola always makes elite class phones right from moto L series, it's very sad to know they want to shut down the biz in India, I being a MOTO fan is very disappointed with this decision.I have used more than 10 moto phones and really eager to get Motorola RAZR XT910 but that seems impossible now.A heartless bye to moto.

  • When we have this phone in Europe?

  • share the soure 290, I want to buy it, thanks.

  • Yeah, if there is a source to buy these phones for 290.00 bucks Unlocked with ICS then share this source bro. That'd be amazing!

  • I don't understand, if this is CDMA only device, why does the specifications mention "GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900"? Can't it be unlocked to work with GSM SIMs?

  • what happens when the battery doesn't work anymore? i mean i could use this gadget for over 3-5 years...

  • tell me ur source bud i bet ill bring this for 290$

  • I found a source to get one for around USD290, already unlocked with ICS ready. What a deal for a dual core qwerty phone!

  • motorola should do razr maxx with qwerty

  • where can i find this in Israel ??? and for how much in US $ ???????????

  • If you want the QWERTY, cant go wrong with the Droid 4, it has ICS, it has HDMI, It can handle anything you throw at it, I find myself using it for everything including retro gaming, emails, gps, movies, music.. The Samsung is also amazing in its own right but no QWERTY and you cant go wrong either way, its just the keyboard option.

  • droid4 xt984 ics updated for global mode, works fine with 2g/3.5g gsm/umts in canada on rogers network. best qwerty android phone right now. too bad there is no extra battery accesseries yet

  • Motorola offers more variety of qwerty phones than any other manufacturer. Motorola is the only manufacturer who offers bar qwerty phones like Droid Pro, XPRT, Pro+, Defy Pro, to suit your needs.

  • I live in HK and this phone works on GSM/WCDMA (3G) networks.

  • Is this the same as the Motorola Droid 4? What is the XT894?

  • Should i buy this or the galaxy s3?

  • I like Motorola phones and have even used a couple of Motorola phones in the past but the battery backups are too weak comparing to those of Nokia phones which im using right now (X2 and C1). I think the batteries should be improved for a longer backup.

  • I saw an ICS update few days ago in Motoask . I love this phone a lot and it is amazing.

  • Its a little outdated but you could try the Sony Ericsson MK16i (Xperia Pro)

  • along with the ICS upgrade will come world wide compatibly

  • Totally Love this phone... And the ICS update is on its way... So Happy!! :D

  • This is a CDMA/LTE phone - wont work in Europe. And Droid phones are only exclusive to Verizon.

  • try blackberry then :)

  • Bad news guys... "Dear Mr Xyz, Thank you for contacting Motorola. We are sorry to inform you that we have currently no plans regarding the release of the Motorola Droid 4 in Europe. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you." :( I don't understand why, there's clearly demand for a good QWERTY phone here and we have virtually nothing ATM.

  • i found this website they got it for sale, already unlocked. don't know about delivery though maybe ur lucky there www.gadgets4usz.com

  • I'd rather get the European version considering it definitely won't have a SIM lock (it's prohibited in Europe), and there are more chances to get a bootloader unlock. Also probably working USSD and no issues related to network type switching.

  • There has been talks about a XT898 international version. Nothing confirmed yet, but if the Verizon Droid 4 XT894 gets it's GSM radio enabled by Verizon, why not just get that one? Don't even have to root and mod it yourself anymore.

  • There is only one Droid 4 model out there, and yes, it has GSM capabilities only they haven't been enabled. It's possible to modify it yourself, or if you get a Verizon set or Verizon ROM, they will be enabling the GSM capabilities shortly. Ref. the links I posted below.

  • Droid 4 has GSM radio and SIM slots. How to mod: Also, Verizon has announced that it will be enabling global GSM roaming on it:

  • Can not GSM, you will only Iusacell and Unefon, because the system is using CDMA

  • Can anyone make sense of this gibberish? Is this legit? Is this really a GSM version of the Droid 4?

  • How I can modify my Droid 4 with Verizon set up to be able to use GSM service

  • You will have to try to flash it to support GSM.

  • PLS PLS PLS release a milestone for europe!

  • How accurate is this, no other web site has mentioned it, where's this info from, how did they get it? www.themobileindian.com are not known for their breaking news, hope its true but seems concocted just to attract more hits to their site.

  • im gettin the phone sent over here but i have a pproblem with the fact that it does not support gsm

  • If you have the guts to mod your droid 4, GSM IS POSSIBLE. Just look at the pics this guy made :P

  • hey guys Motorola XT898 to be GSM version of DROID 4 is coming so wait for some more time.

  • Motorola XT898 to be GSM version of DROID 4 is coming soon so wait for some days...

  • For Europeans the ONLY QWERTY phone worth having is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro. It is much more compact than this brute and a lot cheaper too. Xperia Pro has a great screen, camera and Interface is very fluid and smooth.

  • when will motorola start releasing these in the middle east??

  • Why is it called a NON GSM DEVICE? So you mean you could not put a SIM card in it and use as a means of communications such roaming services? coz i need a phone which has an access to all networks around the world coz i am a seafarer, please help thanks

  • hey guys when is gsm support coming for droid, its already may?

  • Does anybody have any idea as to this phone's availability to Malaysia? Am very keen on this phone, but is absolutely in the dark whether they'll make it officially available here. Input much appreciated.

  • Yes u cn get unlocked droid4

  • This is not a GSM device, it will not work on any GSM network worldwide.

  • No you can't. The phone is GSM locked. It is not global. Why won't Moto just do the opposite and disable the LTE radio and activate the GSM radio for the rest of the world!! and in future if the incompatibility issues is fixed, an update would be most welcome to get both radios working together. The GSM chipset(qualcomm MDM6600)is the same as RAZR XT910 anyway.

  • can i order Motorola droid 4 or Motorola RAZR MAXX to India from any site which is under contract for $49 or $99 and use it in India(gsm Carrier),if i get the unlock code?

  • As this is a global phone, you can buy it online as unlocked on ebay. Works with any GSM carrier.

  • Hey, i have been checking all the forums and it has been said that the GSM capability for this phone has been disabled although it has the radio for it. No one has managed to activate it as yet. Everyone is waiting for motorola to come up with a milestone 4 version or Big red to release an update to activate it. So how can this be a Global phone? Motorola just have to step up their game and release the Milestone 4 for GSM markets like Asia. I'm from Singapore by the way. Why release GSM Razr Maxx only for China? What about the rest of us and the Droid 4!

  • Can we shop it online on ebay? Or import it?

  • Sorry, I should add to my last comment that I'm from Australia.

  • Both the Droid 3 and Droid 4 are global phones. If you import the phone it'll work. I had an imported Droid 3. Of course, the downside is you need to pay to own the device. For me, that's an upside, but might be a deal-breaker for some.

  • What is?

  • Any news on the Milestone 4 yet? the asian markets wants it badly!

  • worthless :/

  • If this comes out in UK, I think the whole of Europe will get it. But from the research that I made, there wasnt any Moto milestone's with the qwerty kb launched in UK at all. So unfortunately, I really think Europe won't be getting this one either

  • super pfone I have get it today AMAZING YOU MUST BUY IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • where to buy it in Indonesia???

  • Motorola DROID 4 XT894IT should be Relese in dubai UAE

  • I will be the first to buy this phone if they bring it to Europe. Its not fair that there a lot of qwerty phones available only in America. Bring this phone to Europe please

  • No, Belgium first!

  • Totally agree with u on the After Sales Service part... had 2 HTC's so far- 1 with a power transmission problem- they never rectified it... sat in the service center for 2 months... Every time the said the handset has been sent to here or there (headquarters/ main center etc...) My second device was HTC Hero; had a touch screen problem in under 3 months-- sat with the service center for another 3 months... this time the excuse was- part not available....

  • May you please bring this super qwerty smartphone 2 South Africa? I'd be the 1st to buy this handset.

  • Seriously, this needs to be released in Australia under 'Milestone 4' sometime soon. There's no other qwerty phones that can compete with this and I'm sure the market will be looking for this. It's perfect, and it needs to come here. Can anyone tell me if there's even the slightest chance possible for this phone to come to Australia?

  • Agreed! I know a lot of friends who are waiting for a european release!! Please release this phone in Europe/Netherlands!!!

  • Dear Motorola-execs, Please release the Milestone 4 in Europe quickly. There is a lot of demand for qwerty here and there are no alternatives. You will sell many (just throw in a little marketing). Thanks!

  • It is not a best phone only 204 hours we cannot even switch on music or chat online.

  • True

  • absolutely correct my friend

  • relax bro..dont worry bout who bought who..let me remind you tat most of da phone todays are follow others software.. so who bought who doesnt mean anything.. as long as the phone with current one has all function including video calling dialler..n all apps can support android.. any version... but at the moment 4.0 has not compatible most of the apps.. so relax... wait and see ..thanks but nowadays most smartphone is backdated not current.better old phones

  • hello moto... do this phone has native video calling dialer? sound good for me... if ppl has used this pls reply... thanks

  • can i use this phone on european networks?please answer asap

  • maybe you all didn't read WHY Google bought motorola.. They wanted to use motorola's Huge portfolio of patents to Protect android from iphone sueing scum.. They said they left moto by itself how to make their own phones

  • Why do they only launch QWERTY devices in the US? I hope they'll release the "Milestone-Version" in Europe too.

  • This really pisses me off, when google bought Motorola I expected them to come up with something super cool because they say they are tired of outsourcing their phones to samsung especially the Nexus line but now that they have their mobile company why aint they releasing some cool stuff. When it comes to android phones sam is the leader followed by htc and the rest after that but u can garantee that motorola take the leader from last and its owned by google.

  • If you wait a little while (perhaps a month or so?), more online retailers will be able to offer you the phone.

  • Yes, if you find a seller on ebay willing to ship to Nigeria.

  • Such a shame, was so looking forward to the UK release. in fact would have this phone now if it was here, but now doubting the logic of getting this phone, NO Gorilla Glass/ build in screen protection. No removable battery?????, Poo res on the screen. Bad screen for sunlight. Do Motorola offer health insurance to their employees, going to have too. how there designers/ management do not fall over and hurt themselves more offer surprises me. can someone PLEASE make a QWERTY android phone worth having. HTC become a joke,( to clarify 3 years ago HTC always produced the Best handsets with the newest features. now just copying everyone else. can anyone think of a good idea HTc have had over the last 3 years, before that we had tilt screens, tab and ctrl buttons, sexy conference/speaker phone. whats new now HTC?) Samsung only willing to release QWERTY's in the US. Sony......whats new? LG....Never tried Dell.....PML anyone heard any rumours about upcoming QWERTY's?

  • Will this phone ever come to nigeria?

  • Does anyone know when it comes out in the UAE?

  • Does anyone know when it comes out in the UAE?

  • This is a GSM phone

  • Any idea whether this phone will be launched within the next 4 months?

  • are you sure this is a GSM phone? on Motorola site they say it is only CDMA. please correct my information if I'm wrong. Regards

  • It would be great to have a QWERTY keyboard by sliding horizontily (for example like BB9800 ) that way the keys are closer together which makes it much easier to texts and would have a BB keyboard Feel to it which most people love!!

  • why&why not;) itz all phone's legacy which is a "Market Strategies",gotcha?get yah. Perfect SUPER phone coming soon! A quadcore 2012 rev.

  • This cannot be used on GSM?

  • Spamsung. ;) The world needs more qwerty smartphones with Android. :)

  • y most of the good phones dont carry a fm transmitter?

  • 4430 chipset that ruined it why not 4460 Why not pvr543 Come on everthing is great xcpt those 2 why

  • this is awsome phone

  • You are absolutely right my friend, have experienced it first hand....HTC is worst at after sales services too.... In my fone... the metal battery cover would short circuit the battery leads and fone would switch off on its own..sent it to repair, took 3 months and the problem's still there. they don't have a replacement policy for faulty devices....my advice to everyone never buy an HTC...

  • You are so right. Who would buy a motorola when you can buy a phone where dust enters under the screen easily, inserting the headphones scrapes the paint off the area around the jack so you headphones start to cut out because they come into contact with the metal of the cover and the back cover sometimes loses contact with a little metal square on the phone causing your touch screen to not register touches. I see your point.

  • Motorola make the best android phones. period. They also have the best designs out there.

  • HTC has android-based qwerty-sliders, but none as good as this one. Their open qwerty phones also are not as good as Motorola's Admiral/PRO+/FIRE. Nor does HTC have any model to compete with the RAZR MAXX. HTC makes good phones, and is my #2 favorite phone maker after Motorola.

  • Nothing beats HTC when it comes to Android.

  • I get good battery life, I'm in day 2 right just hit 60%, but I did root the phone and make some changes so that's probably why.

  • Depends on what you want in a phone, Motorola offers much different features then Samsung. In this case, we have a slider with a full 5-row keyboard and a splashproof coating, if you know an alternative for that with Samsung, I would be happy to check it out.

  • Samsung has nothing to compete with this one. Nor do they have any other particular exciting phones compared to Motorola, HTC and LG. Go somewhere else with your Sammy fanboy talk =)

  • why should i buy this if the samsung is in the market ,,,,, the best maker of android mobile with a backup of users

  • Not availble anywhere but USA/canada We're waiting on the milestone for the UK i'd expect it around april for interneational here's my analysis Droid October 2009 Milestone November 2009 Droid 2 August 2010 Milestone 2 October 2010 Droid 3 July 2011 Milestone3 September 2011 Droid 4 Feb 2012 Milestone 4: Maybe April 2012 so fingers crossed for april

  • I have this phone, and other than the poor battery life, I really like it. The keyboard is fantastic, I dont mind the screen, the phone is zippy and it fits nicely in my average-sized feminine hand. Id recommend the Droid 4.i also found a briefed review about Motorola Droid RAZR Maxx here what you guys think which is much better????

  • Device of my dream (with Gnu/Linux, not Android)

  • Ever heard of Skype? This will most likely receive Android 4.0 I think. Seeing as it's older siblings are.

  • if still android 2.3 i am not going to buy it as no video calling dialler.. waste a money

  • Doesn't seem to be available outside the US. Only option in Europe is still the Xperia Pro (still a great choice and good price).

  • I respect this mobile. Big ups to motorola. They're just endowed to making people happy..............

  • Why no FM-Radio? Is it asking for too much? Is it so costly a luxury? Why not give it when people are ready to pay? It should be standard issue and not a luxury feature!

  • maybe next 3 yrs. only few of us knows about any other nice phone except nokia nd BB.

  • Wow.. maemo died since it's born..who use MAEMO

  • What really bugs me is this....will motorola droid 4 be coming to nigeria? I realy need the droid 4....

  • is it available in philippines/

  • yes it is available in africa....wakawaka

  • Funny you should say that! I've been looking for a phone to replace my N900, which i do love, but its getting a little old now and needs to rest. Had my eye on this lovely little gem and was thinking maemo would be great on this. hehe

  • Is this model available in INDIA ? And how much it costs ??

  • Hopes this guy do get this phone, or the mentally-ill community will keep expanding....lol!

  • perfect replacement for N900.........goodbye nokia

  • I WANT THIS PHONE!!! NOW!!! I've been waiting for a good Phone with slider keyboard for super long!

  • It's a Droid Razr with a QWERTY keyboard And, Droid 3 it's a Atrix with a QWERTY keyboard '-'

  • to buy go to any mobile shop....!!

  • its non removable, the user guide on droiddoes.com shows that it is non-removable.

  • It is cheaper in rate, how can i buy this........?

  • I wished that they could have done better for the screen by miximizing it with a borderless screen and just a metal frame supporting the glss screen + a higher resoulution... Specs quite normal(depends on price should be around midrange)

  • I think its only going to be US release only, which is a real shame.

  • Vanilla? It's not even released yet. Will be soon though and it will almost definetly receive ICS. The RAZR models along with Bionic and XOOM will all get, and in some cases already have gotten, Android 4.0(.3) Ice Cream Sandwich.

  • is the battery removable?

  • Does anyone know when/if this a version of this will be released in Australia?

  • Ahh motorola, luv the hardware, hate the software. If it came with vanilla android would be better.

  • It has already beaten them, it has a hardware keyboard. :)

  • because he doesn't have dual memory

  • You said dual memory twice.

  • It needs the following to beat the Samsung Galaxy S2 / S3 1) Dual SIM 2) Touch pen (like the note) 3) Dual memory 4) Not sure but battery must be removable 5) Dual Memory 6) Battery 4000+

  • The defy was designed to be waterproof and has a waterproof casing. The droid 4 is a non waterproof device treated with a water repellent nano coating. You can have the same treatment done on other devices if you want, look up liquipel.

  • Yes the battery is not removable. And the videos you saw of people holding it, it was shot in the International CES this year.

  • the best ever

  • NO

  • Just curious, have you seen the real thing? Some Youtube video clips have people who actually held the device and said the battery is "not" removable. I just want to confirm.

  • Motorola Defy/+ has a removable battery, and the phone can be "submerged" into 1m deep water for 30 mins!

  • If it does have a non-removable battery, it's probably and most likely due to the fact that it repels water. If you use a diff battery, they can no longer guarantee this since the parts would not fit seamless.

  • Battery is removable. No worries there :)

  • This phone looks like the one ive been waiting for 3 years. Look is debateable, but the functionality looks great, does anyone have any accurate info on the battery yet? only one review mentions that it is fixed in the device. but does concern me, cannot imagine why this would be, and why have a battery cover if this is the case. Someone with hands on please elaborate

  • What the..is splashwaterproof, or did u mean splash proof???

  • One of the things not mentioned in this post (and what I've been looking for for years in a full keyboard Android phone) is that it's splashwaterproof. This phone is a must have for me and I hope there won't be a similar one is released once this one is available or I'll have a dilema. With the gorilla glass, this thing is a nice semi-rugged phone on paper, in reality, they can also withstand a few rough drops as well so I dare say it's a rugged phone. Now I just hope the battery life won't dissapoint, if I need more capacity and get a thick battery, it will mess with the waterproofness. Does anyone have a price indication yet?

  • this looks like the best phone ever i am soooo getting it.

  • Please Motorola, make it other colors (white, sylver, gold) aand quickly available in europe too!

  • this phone can be used in cdma network??? can someone explain me

  • Does anyone know if this, like all the previous Droid models has a built in FM receiver, but simply does not include the software to use it? That was apparently the case with all the previous ones, so would anyone please be able to confirm this? Thanks.

  • Wish it was Dual SIM for people who have 2 SIMs at minimum (specially the expat community)

  • It's just the same as with the Droid 3. Sold in the US on Verizon, but if you unlocked it you could use it with any gsm carrier here in Europe, asia etc. Becuase it's had gsm quad band, just like this one.

  • Spoke to someone at 3 in the UK and he said they were trying to secure the Milestone 4 on their network, I REALLY hope it wasn't a fob off :( PLEASE let this phone come to the UK!

  • i need this monster!!!! now!!! now!!! now!!!

  • It's a quadband GSM phone. Has anyone ever put a quad-band GSM radio in anything and, somehow, disabled full voice and data capabilities? I'm thinking it is a proper GSM phone.

  • Its very heavy!!

  • Just curious, did you ask Moto or seen the real thing regarding the removable battery? Please elaborate, thanks.

  • yes, the battery is removable.

  • This phone has CDMA and GSM in bothe 2G, 3G and LTE. Read the spec on this page

  • I'm looking to upgrade from my HTC desire z. Please Motorola make this thing awesome AND work in Europe. Thanks.

  • Hi all, Is the battery removable?

  • so finally is it gsm capable??

  • I am waiting for a version with replaceable battery....and agree with the other comment I'm not sure if this phone supports GSM...

  • ? They do have purple, white, blue and silver colored phones. That doesn't necessarily mean that they launch it as a new model, showing as a new phone here at gsm arena - like Sammy does. It only shows as a new model if there's some difference in specs and/or market segment.

  • sign of professionalism

  • Blame Henry Ford and his infernal assembly line idea.

  • Will they make a world version namely with 1700/2100?

  • I don't believe this device is global, just CDMA and LTE and no GSM. Neither Droiddoes.com or motorola.com says it is a global device. One step forward and one backwards on this device.

  • Because black is the cheapest and easiest color to make. Plus it looks cool xD

  • Why are all of their phones black? White is not cooler? Or blue? Green? :)
