  • I remember getting one of these new, as a replacement for another phone still under warranty which failed. This thing was built like a tank. I was really young at the time so chucked it about and scratched it up, but it still worked. Can't remember what happened to it in the end. I also remember the camera being really good for the time. The screen only had 65k colours but was surprisingly clear for it's day, when most other handsets had 4096 colours at that price range (IIRC).

  • I used this phone for 3 years. It had very good camera in those times. I forgot it in my pocket and swam in the pool, and after i got out the phone was still running okay. Because of the water damage one of the keys wasn't responding well. I also dropped the phone from the 4th floor but nothing happened. The only frustration with the phone was SMS mesaging. Typing was slowing down as you typed a message.

  • with the greatest of difficulty, you would need to design and build yourself a new circuit board, not to much of a problem if you own a electronics factory and have a team of electronic engineers at hand but if you dont then your stuffed with 2mb of internal memory, although theres a remote chance of flashing the software and debranding the phone this may free up a few kilobytes of space but thats about all you can do

  • Well nothing can be done..it has no IRDa BLuetooth or USB.ONly way to get pics in comp is to MMS picures to friends mobile who can do it..:)...this phone not good..dont buy it

  • I bought this phone because I thought it looks great and has good features. Apart from those, the phone was pretty tacky. The buttons are hard to press and not working properly and messaging is slow. Worse still after using for about 12 months, the phone sometimes can not dial nor receive calls unless I have to switch it off and on again! How unreliable is that! Bewary of this phone guys!

  • i have been using this fone for one and a half years now and this fone is really a mess.. plz dont go fot it. The camera is good in the day but at night with less light.. the person taking the pic and the person whoz pic is bein taken, both have to stand still for abt 3 4 seonds:D that means no movement allow.. :D okey we say that the camera isnt good as the price of the mobile is less but what abt these? The processor of this fone is reallllly slow. and yeah... The screen saver.. even if u turn off the screen saver the back light appears after few seconds (displaying the clock) and the user get distracted by this good for nothing screen saver back light. There is some unwanted space throught which the dust particles enter the screen of the mobile and makes it ditry from inside (which cant be cleaned even, changing the casing is the only option available) The message writing is tooooooooo slow.. esp when you have typed more then 20 30 characters.. fone some times helds when we are trying to make a miss call (that turns the miss cal in to a received call:D) this also happens while receiving the call huuh....

  • I have had this phone for 2 years and it broke few days ago. Was fiddling on photo album area and now broke, although 2 years for a phone I use 24/7 is pretty good.I'm glad it broke cos I want a new phone. There is no video adapter or anything like that, this phone is not video adaptable. This technology was not launched at the time this phone was bought out. Also, one really bad thing about this phone is the texting the buttons to press are well designed. However, it is really slow and when I text it does the phone does not keep up and misses letters out therefore you have to type slowly. About the clock on the screen, I am still not sure how you get that up it seems to come up automatically whenever it wishes too. Not much you can do about that I think. Also, you can text abroad, it works just like a normal message. To get photos on to your computer you have to buy a USB cable which costs about �25-�30. Very expensive for a cable and then you can transfer them to your computer if they still sell it. I never bought that in the end so dont know how well it works. There is no cable included on the phone. However, the cheap version is to send an MMS to someone who does not have a photo camera or the settings have not been put on it and then when you try to send a photoa text will be sent to the phone to view it on the internet. You can go on the internet and view this within a certain amount of time so make sure you save this and you can print this off. Shared memory is where there is one memory and this is shared across the phone i.e shared by messages, photos and ringtones which is the best way I think because I have more photos whilst other people may have more messages. Overall, this a neat phone and the large screen really helps although the camera is quite slow. Its a pretty good price nowadays as well at about �40-�50. I really hope that this has helped everybody because I know its frustrating when people do't give you information on a phone or answer your questions. xxx

  • Its a gr8 phone will good ringtones that r downloadable / uploadable. One can spend a lot of idle time with it. Its a colourfull phone with TFT screen. The camera is good and give resolution and size of the picture equal to the sze of the computer screen 640X480 size.

  • The green envelope means that you have a message on wap. Enter wap and hold "0" key for a few seconds.An inbox menu will appear and you can save your MMS objects from there.

  • Rubbish phone I've had it for 18 months and am just about to bin it & get a Samsung E330. Texting is incredibly slow & sometimes it doesn't even recognise the keys have been pressed, although the camera is great quality. To answer some questions; to set it to silent vibrate go to Profiles in the main menu and set to "Meeting", and to text in capitals type your word and then press the Down arrow: press it once and the first letter of the word will be capitalised, press it twice and the whole word will be. Hope this helps!

  • It's a great phone , except for the fact that it dosn't have infrared.the photos come out great on the computer.No comment.

  • It's time you guys read the minimum requirements before proceeding in the future. Old phone models really sux. For the GPRS settings, you can actually do it manually if you can contact the maker and not neccessary go to KL or Ampang lar. Maxis only send automatic settings so it's not so troublesome.

  • Well i've just changed my hp from mot-C330 to mot-E365 coz i think it's cheap. At 1st i don't really like da model but somehow i need to change my old hp. What i like bout tis hp is da TFT 65K color and large screen display, wat i hate da most is SMSING IS TOOOO SLOW and i can't activate my gprs setting. I've tried calling MAXIS centre to activate gprs for my hp but it turns out tat da hp is too old and they did not have da settings. THIS SUX alot! must go to KL or AMPANG motorola centre to activate. I have a green envolope too but i can't open it and how u guys activate GPRS?....... Any solution pls help ME! THANKS!

  • I've had my e365 since Aug 2003 and I'm also disappointed by it. I only bought it to replace my Nokia 8210, which died. It has good functions, but isnt very user friendly imho. It takes forever to type out sms's and it seems to be quite slow, as if the processor is not good enough for it. As for the camera, it's not too bad for the design of the time (my bro sent me a pic taken by his Sony Ericsson k700 and it's far better than mine), but again, it takes a long time to save the pic, and then it always asks u if you want to send it via sms etc....another 15 sec wasted.... The two things I really like about it are the colour screen, and playing Big Two, a game included with the fone! And transfering pics from the mobile to the computer is very messy. All the pics have to be saved one at a time, and they are saved in BMP form, so you then have to then use whatever image program you have at home to then resize them into jpgs! (I use Vueprint) I honestly dont know how the ratings are so high! I wouldnt have given any of the 3 categories more than a 6!

  • i hate motorola. i tell ,my friend bought this cell for 12000 rupees ( 240 dollars us) and now after 6 months the value has dropped so much that this is not even goin at half the price.now it was selling for only 4000 rs ( 80 dollars) simply wastage of money and the performance is bad in fact worse than bad camera clarity is bad design is really a disappointment as the screen is outside the line. and last and the least the brand is motorola die but never buy motorola.

  • I've recently bought a 365 model, and I must say i'm quite dissapointed with Motorola (again). First of all, it's a phone, so it's main fault is that the volume in the ear piece it's so low that if you talk in a noisy place, you can't hear a thing. The quality of the case is poor so don't drop it on solid ground! It happens very often that the service centers haven't any spare parts so it's kinda tricky to try to get it fixed. Oh yeah, and then it's the camera, which makes quite fuzzy pictures, comparing them with, let's say Nokia 3650's photos. Besides, if there isn't enough light, some kind of blue stripes show on the pictures. How lame is that? And let's say you want to write a mms, or a longer sms. That's annoying too because the software is too slow. Oh well, at least it has funny MTV worm screensaver. I've always wanted that :))

  • This phone is great. Motorola in Singapore has a prompt and efficient service. Once there is a green envelope appeared on the top left hand corner. I called Motorola-Singapore and less then 2 minutes, they guided me to resolve it. Use this phone for a year plus. Features like the VGA, ringer, games are cool man! Hey gals, E365 has a fun club set- up for people like u and me who own it. I join the club and downloaded a lot of items.   • If you are gettin a meesage "Try Later" it means your SIM card is not ready yet. This comes in all phones when ON it!! In NOKIA phones you get a message called " SIM Card NOT Ready". So this is not a problam with the phone. wait few seconds after you ON the phone so it will not appear>

  • Guys, If you plan to buy this better put it off. I bought this one in India and it hangs intermittently. I even got it replaced and the software was upgraded but still once in a while it does hang. Though the camera is good.

  • I bought this phone 2 days ago. I was advised to charge it for 16 hours first, so after waiting patiently, I started phoning people and texting them my new number. The ringtones are amazing and REALLY loud so you can hear them if you are in a club. The games are ok if you are bored but not sure how to play the card game?! camera is really good quality. If you are looking for a camera phone you should consider this. It also has a nightime feature which makes the quality of a picture good where there is little light. There is also a protective clip over the camera so you can cover the lens when its not in use. So far so good!!

  • To Sarah : Probably you can try out Sony Ericsson T610 and Nokia 3650 from the shops too. The price for a new handset wouldn't cost a bomb right now. Last checked, an AP set for 3650 costs around RM 980. These models have infrared & bluetooth.

  • To Sarah : If you are lookin for a budget camera phone, then the phone is worth the price. Other brand names such as Samsung or Nokia are a little pricey compared to this. But of course, with the price tag given, you would want to expect the type of hi-tech features that comes with it. Unfortunately, Motorola seems to lose out a little on this. E365 lacks the useful bluetooth and infrared functions that are common in camera phones nowadays. However, as a consolation, the 65k screen res & loud midi tones could made up to that. In addition, the camera's res is made up of VGA standards, so you can be assure of the photo quality taken. Don't worry about dirtying the lens or scratching it cause it has a protective cover for it. Just slide it over the camera lens when you are not using it. If your main aim is to have fun with the camera and tones, then E365 could satisfy your wants. Just purchase a data cable and you can transfer files to and fro PC to phone. But I would advise you to test out the phone in the shops first so that you could get a good feel to it :)

  • For matt: Actually the E365 didnt hv the txt msg limit... it's depending on Ur shared memory. U can stored up few hungred msg wif all Ur 2MB memory. Bcos all Ur items (msg, image, ringtone...) also use the shared memory. I think store up 100-200 msgs also not a problem... mayb can 200++. I tried stored up 100++ msg b4 and still have alot of memory.

  • The camera picture really good and the best of all you can select 3 sizes of the picture ofup to 648X480 which many camera phone doesn't have-very small picture when you download the PC. Sonyericsson T610 color display sucks. When I'm using the T610 always very dissappointed with the picture, either not clear or color very deem. This E365 may not be so user friendly but it really valure for money. Cheap and yet good. What are u still waiting for?

Screen : TFT 65K color, really very nice. 128x160 pix. it's large and very clear for me. 8.8/10 Message : it's ok, got SMS(max 16 in once), EMS(5.0), MMS(max 60K in once). Besides got T9 and other difren languages. But got abit slow when typing SMS. it's take sum time when entering inbox(if U got alot of msg). It's will automatic store Ur msg in darft if got incoming calls. 7.8/10 Camera : The image is very clear and nice if U use NightMode. But Only got 2 modes. largest got 640x480. The lens hv a cover then can protect it's lens from dust and sum damage. 8.2/10 Sound/Melody : Although just got 16 channel polyphonic but it's ok bcos i think 16/32/40 also not a big diffrent 4 me. It's max volume is quite clear. it's got support MIDI. 7.8/10 Connectivity : It's no Bluetooth, InfraRed, got abit dissapointed. It's hv GPRS, WAP(but normally other phones also hv, nothing special). The Data Cable is not included in the package. 7/10 Interface : It's quite ok. the main-screen have 4 Double-click shortcut and 2 soft-key shortcut. It's hv up to 7 lines text display(5 lines in SMS). PhoneBook list can search by 3 1st alphabert. But the loading hv abit slow. Got alot of languages is supported 7.6/10 Overall : 7.86/10 My Opinion : I very like it's design, 93g is not problem 4 me. If it got Bluetooth, i'm not mind that it's price bcome more 15%. But i got abit dissapointed it's no Bluetooth. i think 2Mb is enof for me liao. but 2Mb is sharing by all things like ringtones, image, screensaver...etc... but if u stored all image in resolution 160x120 then the memory is really enof liao.

  • i got this mobile 2 weeks back. this phone is sure a value for the money u put on the phone. my choice was this phone or nokia 3200. the cam clarity is very good in this phone. and the night mode in the phone is very good i was amazed with the clarity at night time. the phone came with a data cable and a hands free kit. and i was able to transfer the photo to my system. and the GPRS is also fast. iam from chennai/india/asia. totally this phone is very good.

  • if anyone finds an update for the software of the phone then please email me. I am desperate. the sheer number of functions is phenomenal for price, but the software is badly written and makes the phone extremely aggrevating to use most of the time. obviously the reason why it is cheap.

  • hi ravi ringtones are depended on memory it has 2mb of memory which is shared by all aplications.i have stored 85 ringtones 25mono & 60 poly & still 60% of memory is left.so i think there is space of 250-300 ringtones if only you dont download any wallpaper.and there is no suchthing as motomixer it is in E380.photo quality of this phone is very good much better than NOKIA'S.but use highest resolution only when taking photo in day time and not from long distance.the best resolution is medium use it any ware any time.hope this will solve your problem.bye.

  • I have a few questions abt E365. How many ringtones can be downloaded on E-365 and the manual says something abt MotoMixer thru which one can mix ringtones. Is that feature really there & has someone used it? How is the quality of the pics using the highest resolution when uploaded on the PC. Thanx, Ravi

  • my e365 does not show location(cell brodcast) i asked my provider he said the phone does not support this feature but i have this feature in my phone(service) i have switched it on but still it do not work.can any one tell me any secret code to open this feature.

  • HI!!!! All. I bought this sexy lookin cellphone a week ago. No doubt it has all the features that one would look for in a Mobile. Camera with the best resolution compared to others. But it has started giving trouble as in i am not able to access my Inbox & Phonebook. Everytime i try opening inbox, the error message that i receive is try later.... I am very frustrated with this problem as i am not able to access my messages as well as the phonebook. Please advise what to do? I do have the 1 year warranty card with me.

  • I got it recently. Polyphonic tones 300 adress book and many more things. Camera resolution is very nice. It has got power on and off timer facility which is not available in most of the sets. Well done Motorola keep it up.

  • Mind Blowing Screen resolution. picture quality is best It takes 640*480 and u can transfer them easily in PC. Much better than Nokia 7210i and price is also cheap

  • Kotee! Am also a motorola fan but it's fairly to say that this phone is not that good as you said. Midi sound is poor! have to say that T610 sounds far more better! Not just transfering issue to and from the phone, the software is annoying slow. No infra red, you gotta know how much important it is, with the infra red adapter which 99% exits on your laptop and a bit less in cellphone devices, you don't have to keep your cable around! Anyway, the screen is better than T610. But T610's memory management's technology give E365 a huge kick. If SMSing is your favour then do not buy this phone.

  • Bought this phone in September , got it with a USB Data cable and phone suite SW having lots of fun uploading pictures and midi files , everyone in my office is envious of it even my boss who has a O2 PDA /Phone combo. The diplay is the best part and the 65 K Active matrix is great and the built in ringtones are loud , the Pictures look great when U use the highest resolution 640x 480 in the camera. The small issues are , the Ringtones sound a little low when U upload any midi files onto the phone. I am trying various SWs to increase the volume of midi files before I upload them , The other issue is the transfer rate between the phone and the PC is very slow even though the cable that came along with the Phone is a USB. I also have login problems onto the official Motorola website www.mymobilesoft.com All said and done this phone is far better than the Sony T610 which is an equivalent model and costs atleast 20% more whose display is poor and has a lot of memory related issues as per 3 of my friends who have it.

I had compared the T610 and Motorola e365 phone and it seems that the motorola also had prove the screen quality and the camera resolution. But it also seems that both phones is having pros & cons.   • Dear sir I have purchased Motorola mobile telephone with digital camera E365 model ( IMEI no. : 351875000647552 ) in Kolkata with with Fone Data Suite & USB cable to connect E365 with my PC whcih is provided by Imcomp International Pte Ltd of Singapore. It is clearly written in their software Cd that it will support Win 98, Win98 SE & other update operating software. But when I am trying to connect E365 with USB cable to my Win 98 loaded PC my PC seeks USB device driver for this E365. I clicked on Have disc. But the CD provided by you have only USB device driver software for Win ME & Win 2000, but it is clearly written on the CD that it supports Win 98, Win 98 SE & so on. Now my phone is useles because I unable to download images, phone book etc. from E365 to PC without USB DEVICE DRIVER of WIN 98, as I am working with Win 98 in my home & office PC. I have contacted with my dealer but they unable to help, only provide help line. It is my strong request to you please e-mail me this small Usb device driver software for Win 98 so that I use E365 effectively. Thanking you & best regards

  • ps: i find the menus to be really slow as well. i think the processor is overloaded. it has a lot of trouble keeping up with any input sequences.

  • it is cheap relative to a nokia of similar specs. I am happy with it. However it has an annoying text input for sms, too slow to keep up. i am having trouble with memory functions already; alarm not going off, caller group settings being forgotten. those are the problems that i have found but i still wouldn't trade it for any other phone on the market.
