Hi, I am having the same phone..but after sending it to repairs, I seem to be having problems. WIN.. no need to download anysoftware, simply go to Main menu, choose Setting then click on MASTER RESET the pasword is 000000 (if it is wrong try 999999 or 666666). Do the same thing to option Master Clear. It will clear all your data in Phone memory, you'd be better backing up all important data to the PC. Have fun! this is a really great phone.

The American version of this phone LOOKS cool, but it really SUCKS in terms of daily use. The ADS I see are of the EURO version and it takes a lot of time and money to pimp this to make it look like the Euro model. I finally just SOLD mine and then THAT guy tried to get rid of it. That lil exclamation on the top center is for missed calls and messages. I hate it too but just click on it and view it. If you click on it and ignore it, the exclamation will still be there. So just click, view and exit.

Hi All, I just bought the E680i yesterday and so far, things are working well - I think. I have T-Mobile as my carrier and have been able to configure the phone to use Cingular's WAP for sending and receiving text messages (but not SMS/MMS for some reason?). Now, I'd like to be able to play my .MOV and .MPG/MPEG files through the RealPlayer - but it's not working out. I've managed to transfer them into the unit and store them on my SD card, but when I try to open the file through RealPlayer, it's not working. I realize it says it supports MPEG 4, however, do I need to convert my videos into a RealMedia format for them to work? Thanks!

Hi, i got this phone and working fine. Recently i bought h500 bt headset, it paired great and easy, i can make calls from mfb no problem. However when it comes to receiving call, when i press mfb to receive calls the bt connection is just suddenly gone, hence need to talk through the phone (like what we normally do), and it happens too often and this is getting very distressful. I have E680. I LOVE IT! Well, I don't need to tell you how much potential it has,right. It can even play Gameboy adcance and gameboy color games if you installed the right emulator. Moreover, I get a lot of attention with this phone. I dunno why..I have been using it for a year. But now, I still always get people asking me where I got it. They are attracted by its big screen. Many people have had the problem of playing their video files on their e680..Go to the e680 section in the motorola website and download a converter program..It will convert yout video file into .rm format which is playable on your e680.Of course,the quality is lower as is plays your video at the rate of 12 fps..

i can't get my ht820 to play music files, dunno what it wrong, can someone help? This is how i pair up my phone, starting with a blank device list on the bluetooth application on e680i 1) on the ht820, press the left mfb for 10 secs until light remains on 2) on the e680i, click on search until ht820 is found 3) on the e680i, click on bond for the ht820 4) on the e680i, it shows the ht820 bonded 5) on the e680i, wait for 5 secs and it will show ht820 headset connected 6) on the e680i, goto the phone page and dial a number, the ht820 works normally 7) on the ht820, press the right side mfb for 3secs or longer, nothing happens on e680i 8) on the e680i, launch realplayer and play a song, song comes out from phone not from headset, any button on the ht820 for music functions does nothing (right side)

Albert you cannot change the name of the extention and rename it to jar. You have to unzip the package first and you'll find a jar file inside the package. And than just transfer the file to your phone.

after my e680 monitor turn into blue, i connect it with usb cable and already instal the driver, and double click MultiFlashFlex.exe but after a few minutes, it shown an error says "Error: PST Initialization failed! No Security Key detected!" what should i do?

Repeat the flashing step 1-8 but at step 4, don't use (1a) BUT use (2a). After all this, now u r using E680i, no more E680. E680i interface better, more user friendly BUT Slower than E680, and do not ask me how to flash back to E680. All action at ur OWN RISK , i did it for 2 or more time with no problem, do not ask whether own flash E680i support Stereo BT headset, 2GB Card or not cos myself not test it yet. Thanks and Enjoy DIY E680 to all!!

For those who want E680 flash to E680i software, get it here: Flash at ur own risk !! This is China version, but you can select English as ur menu language. For me i sucessful, it a bit complicated. For those who need to convert video, Easy RealMedia Roducer the best. Pls read others ppl opinion before asking question, u may find ur answer !

Need someone help: Downloaded the RealMa Video Producer for MOTO E680 V1.0 from Motorola website. Coverted some video files to rm format files but I cannot play the rm file with error message "The media sequence is too big". Checked the rm file properties and find out the dimension was bigger than the size 320x240 but the default Output Format from the producer application stated 320x240, 12fps, 256kbps. Please help.

Download : "Piscel"(www browser, Excel,Word Reader, image viewer) at-> 1. Unzip the .rar to 2 files (.system & piscel) 2. Copy .system to SD/MMC card (u might lost ur java game the oledi install) 3. Copy "piscel" to phone memory (.system\QTDownLoad\ folder) 4. Then u got 2 icon (Piscel PH & Piscel SD) 5. Done.

actually, the night i posted that, i found easy realmedia producer...i already tried to convert the file, but the settings you gave me keep leading to a failed conversion...here's the settings i chose in detail: Max: 350kps Avg. Bitrate: 350kps Video Mode: Smoothest Motion Video Code: Realplayer 8 Audio Mode: Music, 15 FPS Resize: 320x240

To send .jpg , .mid or others files, just use ur stylus point and hold on the file in File Manager, then choose "share" . To convert .avi or . mpg to playable video on E680, u need "Easy RealMedia Producer", it will convert to .rmvb which can set up to 350kps, 15FPS.

ok...this phone is absolutely incredible, really...im gonna buy a 1 GB SD card, and it'll practically turn into my mp3 player!!! but here's the thing...i used realma to convert my avi files to rm, and i tried to play it on the phone's realplayer once i transferred it...it barely played before a window popped up saying "The media parameter is over limitation"...and the preloaded mtv .rm files work perfectly! the realma converted the file to the same format as the preloaded files...i dont get what's wrong...can someone help? and is there an english website where you can get the gba emulator for the phone?

I see no problem in Sync phone book (u need to try again). -> To acess SD/MMC card is easy, go to setup and set it to Mass Storage, that will do. Overall is a cool phone, faster than Nokia 7710, no lagging at all.

Hi ppl... If u can read Chinese, there is a Chinese web site that can modify E680 to E680i (i m serious) i did it. And a lot of software can be use on E680, example: ->GBA (GameBoy Simu.) ->Piscel (To surf www web, including zooming, read Ecel, Word file) -> No Sound taking photo. ->Telnet (to see System file that can't be seen by usb mode) -> Play .avi format up to 800*600 , but this not done yet due to sound&video can't sync yet. -> Theme including changing all icons. And a lot more....@ But all in Chinese...Ppl need to knw may icq me @ 237 737 914 Enjoy guys...

just upgrade to e680i ROM. looks good and more games in there but ... most of the games are in chinese and i don't speak/read/write chinese :). overall, i'm impressed with the e680i ROM, better than the original e680 ROM. Anyone in here knows how to keep the backlight 'ON' all the time. The longest it can stay 'ON' is 10mins.

upgrade to e680i 's advantages I can feel so far are: picture and sound quanlity. the speed of wap and using www is faster and meanwhile you can use fullscreen. You can read word or exel profile. supporting bluetooth to listen mp3.and some new functions that 680 doesn't have. disadvantages: speed is slower, can't use telnet( but yesterday someone successfully telnet his 680i). also I think this version is not the perfect version, so the stability is not satisfied. My suggestion: upgrade your e680 after better version comes out.

I also installed GBA and GBC emulation. But the game runs a little slow on E680, also since e680 is tough screen, keybutton is another problem for some games.

if you can read chinese, I suggest you this site, www.ccmove.com. you can pretty much find everything from their ftp includes piscel, telnet and all kinds of roms for upgrading. I just downloaded the rom and upgraded my e680 to e680i. it feels so good. the sound and camera quanlity is improved a lot.

to Albert Mulyono, if u kno chinese words, u can go to the website below and see if no, go search on net and type "XXX.jar"(XXX refers to the game name you want like bomber man, tetris and many more) sure got some website to let you download games..if you download .rar file type, you must use WINRAR to open and juz copy the .jar file type to the phone, then on the phone juz click it and it will install automatically

before u buy E680,deal with the seller first,tell them u want the Jin San Chi Ba(A Chinese English dictionary)&Piscel(To view word,excel,ppoint,html,pdf,pic & surf net).try ur best to get them install 4 u free before u buy so that u no need to install those software urself bcoz install Piscel is a big headache and will coz the java program inside failure.install Jin San Chi Ba is much easier.I forgot to ask the seller to install the Piscel for me so i download frm net and installed myself and result in i need to uninstall and reinstall some java program and game.Believe me,Piscel software in your phone will add more value to ur phone as u can surt html website.without Piscel, u jz can surf wap website and this give u limitation in surfing net. This phone serve me well as i'm using tmnet pop3 email and i can send and receive email anywhere. if u r using company pop3 email, u can configure and receive ur company email anywhere, cool ya!there is a major problem in sending out email via smtp server using GPRS but this can be solve. Like tmnet email, don set the smtp as smtp.tm.net.my, it doesn't work, jz set the smtp server as ur Service Provider smtp server like mine is smtp.maxis.net.my and port 25. i'm not sure about other service provider smtp.believe me this phone is worth to buy as I didn't get any problem since i bought, except the time when i installed picsel.i'm judging based on my phone, i'm not sure whether other E680 working fine too.regarding the battery comsumption,if u play mtv and video for a long time sure the comsumption of battery is high, maximum around 3 hours battery usage but i think this is logic bcoz the is a phone and some times u might want to c some video or listen to mp3 for a short period only. If u r looking for phone that can play long hours video and mp3, i think u r looking for laptop or thumb drive mp3 player,not a phone.If u have 1GB MMC,mean u have 1GB portable flash storage, like thumb drive, connecting to PC with USB cable to store or transmit data,cool!no driver require for Win2000 and WinXP. I have stated out some major issues and solution for u, there are still a lot of features for u to find out urself, good luck and have a nice day ;)

I bought this phone in Sg Wang on 20 March with RM2299 come togather with 1GB MMC.But I think u can get around RM1900 with 64MB MMC now. My suggestion is dont buy the M2299 package with 1GB bcoz the 1GB MMC card I got is an unknown brand, but so far it did't giv me any problem.Heard the Apacer 1GB MMC card is around RM285. So if u buy seperately, RM1900 + RM285 = RM2185, still cheaper! Some more u still get the 64MB MMC+branded MMC.

gosh..pls tell me there're no differences to the e680 and the e680i. or rather..tt e differences are so inconsequential (eg. up frm 1gb to 2gb) that there's little real difference between the two hps. Juz bought my e680. love the hp like nuts. if only.. a) e680i was not launched juz a few wks aft i bought my hp b) e680 had more games downloads...esp in singapore. most of the telcom services don't have games compatible with my e680 for some weird reason. for that matter...most mobile games servers don't have games compatible with the e680. anyone knows any sites i can check out for that?

In summary I am happy with the Motorola E680 PDS Smartphone. Drawbacks: 1) The digital camera takes somewhat dark and fuzzy (not sharp) images. Other phones do better. 2) More important: Snychronization with MS-Outlook only works every second time !! The "EzxSync" software comming with it seems to have bugs. Does anybody knows/has a remedy for this?

To convert to RM you'd better try Canopus ProCoder, you can raise the bitrate of the video and audio so the quality will be better. the RealMA software can convert RM too but it's slow and the result is not good. By the way how to download Picsel? could anyone tell me please? Where can i find games and apps for this phone?

To delete ur file one by one, click and hold till the mini menu comes out. Then move ur pen over delete then u release. This is overal a good phone. Just have to install some additional software to make it excellent. (piscel brower is gooood)

Hi e680 owners. I just bought it last week..quite impress wif pda style phone..but there are some flaws. 1) In File Manager, cant delete files one by one...u intend to delete all files...bang! 2) In sound and vibrate mode together, u will get only vibrations when theres an incoming call..bang! 3) The RealPlayer did not support lots of media format..have to convert those files to rm. first....bang! 4) And the battery is like always insufficient..(no wonder they give 2 batteries)...bang! Overall, i luv tis phone...but could somebody pls correct me on these flaws...thanx buddy!

App for us to surf www web site, the App call "Piscel". to open office doc, this phone can't do it. to dial a number without keypad, you can just press directly to the screen using the stylus, even by your hand. otherwise, you can use the voice command to say the number and the phone will dial it automatically. This phone is not a really smart phone, but the fun and entertainment aspect is the best among other cell phones that i had used before.

I just got this pda phone. Not too bad, think it's one of the cheapest pda phone around and value for money. Surprisingly good, it can use SD/MMC either. Screen are big but video not so sharp buy acceptable, photos quite OK. Battery cannot last but fortunately the bundle came with 2 batteries. The built-in radio are good and clear, the handwriting recognition for both chinese are superb. Good PDA phone to consider if you would not want to spend too much. After all, it's Motorola-quite branded already lah...

some answers to questions posted. zorback - to view keypad during call, tap on the left green icon beside the smiley face that looks like a remote control. houg - u can get the english manual at the motorola SG website ken - stocks shd be in within 2-4 weeks according to the service folks. demand exceeded supply. the the cd-rom that came with phone runs on windows based PC (W98SE upwards) to connect to your phone. no need to run linux. i suggest after installation of the software to downloads updates first b4 using. have tried ok on xp. it has sd-card slot so u can watch videos stored on sd-card (up to 1GB). load up your mp3 songs onto the sd-card to listen via speakers of headset. there's also a built in FM radio. the sd card that comes with the phone is blank and only 64MB, better to get yr own if u can reduce the purchase price. freddie - u can use stereo headset with this. in SG it is included. joe huang - make sure u switch on bluetooth on e680 first. first time pairing don't forget the pin #. to conserve battery switch off bluetooth when not in use!

Steve, by software reset I guess u tried the Master Reset and it didn't work ? Zorback, u should be seeing a tv remote like icon to the middle left of the screen ... click on that and it should give u the dial pad ... BTW, is there a chess game that works fine on E680 ? I downloaded free chessbuddy from www.zedge.no, but it looks too small on screen ... they have another one for $3.99 but E680 is not listed as a phone that can play it ... Has anyone tried this ? HELP! I bought a brandnew E680 and i was very happy and proud to be the owner of this thing. The problem is, i'm just using it for one month, never dropped the thing but still.... i got an fatal error. Now the phone won't start up unless i turn off the antenna! It won't startup. When i turn on the antenna it shuts down and tries to restart over and over again. I bought this phone in Asia - Indonesia. Over here in Europe - Holland they won't give me service. Anybody out there, who knows about how to hardware reset this little baby? A software reset is not possible since those functions became gray. All the functions on this phone are working, as long as i keep the antenna off. Thanks in advance!

Has anyone successfully managed to sync their E680 to the PC? I can't seem to update my calender nor contacts with the E680. Understand from Bengalboy he had the same problem as well in his reviews.

Actually, the E680 does not have an issue with file sizes above 50MB. I have encoded a movie with 243MB Realmedia file with no problems at all....all you need to do is to make sure the resolution of the movie is 320X240 and below. I tried encoding various formats, ie MP4, RM and 3GP. Out of all the formats, RM seems to offer the smoothest resolution without any lag.

There is as far as I know no eBook reader available at that time. Textfiles can be read and edited, but there is no reader for excel or word documents either. Bigger movie files can not be played by the internal player. 50MB rm files are too big to be shown by the embedded Real Player.

If you click on the menu at the bottom right corner, the only option you'll have it Delete All. Not very user friendly.....Think we should gang up and tell Motorola to release a firmware upgrade for this phone which allows users to delete a range of selective file rather than DELETE ALL or delete one file at a time.

Does anyone know of a web browser for this phone? - The only one ive found is konqueror/embedded and it is a bit of a hassle to install (more so than usuall tux apps :D) As for my opinion of the phone - heres what i think- great phone for people that want security. ALthough only vga cam - the demo shots from it always look decent enough. Video recording, playing. What id really like to know is if i would be able to install other qtopia apps onto it (as far as i know it runs montavista linux embedded with the Qtopia phone edition interface - for those out of the know - qtopia was the ui for the sharp zaurus - the linux pda) and if so, then how? any real gurus out there?

re input by handwriting.. there is predictive text & also a user dictionary, so you can add in whatever u want to the dictionary. tip: underscore for space, write on the alternate boxes for a faster interface. chinese input is very good.

You can run any J2ME application on the phone. I trid the Web-Browser WebView by Reqwireless, it works well. If you want to test Java applications before deploying them, you can download the SDK 4.3 for J2ME from www.motocoder and simulate the e680. I like the phone, apart from the short battery life.

Saw somewhere that you can actually use the web browser on the E1000 and pump it into the E680. Can anyone confirm this? Went to Handango to try looking for a web browser for the Linux OS, but could not find an app suitable for this phone...Any idea if Motorola is developing a web browser for the E680?

MP3 quality on the headphones yield acceptable results. The only thing is that there is no equaliser to boost the audio quality. If you are thinking of playing MP3 thru its speakers, it is loud enough, but the surround quality cannot beat the E398. Still the E680's speakers does a fairly decent job of pumping out good quality audio with minimal distortions.

E680 has been in Thailand market for about a week. I'm using it. It's great except it hangs easily. I have to take the battery out and put back in again to reset. I think it should come with a better Web Browser such as Opera anything. I'm still having accessing my SSL or HTTPS site.

Hi can anyone tell me what software this phone uses to transfer data to and from a computer (eg nokia uses nokia PC Suite). I am about to order this phone but the cd rom software is in chinese. so just wondering if i can download the english software from the internet. Yeah...managed to download some games from www.zedge.no However, you will need to register as a free member first. Once you can access your account, using a PC,you'll have to login to Zedge, select the games and put it into your download area. After that,using your E680, run the Browser and type wap.zedge.no. Click on My downloads to download each of the selected files and install it into your E680. Tried install Metris, Reversi, and the Pacman. Pacman is a bit difficult to play using the Joypad. Hope this helps.

Anders If you wanna use the converter program for AVI to RM, goto the motorola website and download the REALMA VIDEO PRODUCER. It will convert your AVI or MPEG files into RM. Others that you can use to convert is PVAuthor or Ulead VideoStudio 8. Just make sure you set the resolution to 320x240 or smaller. The E680 can accept 3GP, RM or MP4 formats.

Just bought the E680 as a replacement for my 2yr old SE-P800. As far as PDA phones go, this one is probably the most unintuitive one I've ever used. It's far better to stick with SE, O2 or Treo. The interface is not user-friendly as compare to the other PDA phones offered by the competitors. You cannot change the main menu bar on the top of the PDA as compared to SE. The text input and keyboard input method adopted by the E680 seems to be extracted from the Jurassic period. The text recognition is extremely slow and not accurate. In case you're wondering, my handwriting is very neat and straight even OCR programs have no problems reading it. One thing that bugs me about the text input method is that you have to write one individual letter at a time and let it understand and convert it before you can input another character. This is totally unacceptable for a new-generation phone. The keyboard input method fares no better either as the keyboard is extremely small and difficult to read. To make matters worst, the SEND BUTTON and the SPACE BAR are located on top of each other. Once you try to press the space bar, you may inadvertently press the SEND button and off your msg goes...even before it was completed. This happened to me a lot of time already. There are a lot more idiosyncrasies abt the E680, eg the inability of the software to rotate an image, view at full screen and the fact that it does not come with a full-fledge browser like those found in O2 or SE. Try surfing to certain websites and all you get is "Not supported by browser". Really frustrating. So, for all those who wants to buy this phone, PLEASE TEST IT OUT, ESPECIALLY THE TEXT INPUT unless you don't use SMS or update the calender.

i got this phone a week ago from a store in LA, USA. (i'm residing in california) the e680 is imported from china. very cool phone. first of all, it is SMALL. way small than the sony ericsson p900. it is fully buzz-word equiped with bluetooth, mp3, fm radio, usb1.1, mpeg4 movie, tri-band, 65k color tft, mms, 3d stereo, and j2me based 3d games, sd card expension slot, and of course, a build-in camera produce 1.3 mega pixel quality. wow.. did i miss anything? ;)

Yes, the E680 can act as USB mass storage device. Part of the package will be a stereo headset that is actually the antenna of the integrated FM radio.

This is a cheaper Nokia 6600 with Linux - only thing missing is maybe a video recording feature and of course, radio. But who cares - it runs LINUX !!!! The best phone features with very good PDA features (Intel processor, large 65K touchscreen, SD card slot). Can't wait for the damn thing to arrive in Europe !!!
