I have been using this phone for 2 and a half years now (bought in December 2008), and have been pretty much satisfied with it. I bought it at Rs 8,500 and it hasn't disappointed me as a music phone. Pros:- The music player with dedicated music keys, music ID, and battery life (lasts 2 days on an average till now). Cons:- 1)It lags, and I've only got a 2 GB memory card installed...god knows how much it'll lag with the maximum of 8 GB possible. 2) The sound of the speaker as well as the earphone is low, and the earphone gave difficulties while calling (no problems on the other side though). However, the sound QUALITY is descent; only the "QUANTITY" of sound you get is low. Overall Verdict:- Good buy.

I bought this phone a 1 yr & 3mnths ago and the pc board ceased in the first 3 mnths. I never used till 3 months ago when I decided to go take it for repairs which was free, never mind the warranty which was 2 years at purchase, opposed to Motorola's current warranty which is 1 yr. I also had a Motorola V100 as my very first phone. Something which is very funny is that the Motorola phones I've owned has this out the box smell, quite pleasant, almost like new tennis balls. :+>

Just got myself this EM30, and got rid of the LG KP500. The EM30 does video streaming and the KP500 didnt. I am so happy to be reunited with Motorola once again.... I wanted to get myself the XT720 but my financial status didnt permit, but i couldnt be more happier with my EM30. IT ROCKS!!!

One of the best phones ever made buy Motorola, offbeat style, very flashy, eye catching, slick, slim. Any one two years ago will buy them for style statement only. But, EM30 is not only about style since it uses excellent quality of materials, "out of the world" audio quality, superb screen, powerful hardware & posses exceptional build quality not to mention the best price/ performance ratio two years ago. I juggle between my ZN5 & EM30 to listen music preferring the later since it is a notch above the former. ZN5 beats the EM30 over the rest of the features & is a better all rounder that EM30.

Good day to motorola community. I am a Filipino, and I am using this mobile phone for almost 5 months. I can say that this phone is good but not better. Because of the application for themes is not capable to download on it. And why are the types of files are two kind. The Jar and Jad, if the application file types is in the Jad form it will not installed in the unit.

i am using this phone for more than 1.5 years it is best in sound clearity its bass is gud but not awsome overall its a gud music phone. Technically its slow and you would have to do hard work in finding compatible softwares. The os dont give permission to acess memory card to any of the 3rd party softwares. Games are for kids and there are very few games compatiable with this device. Softwares like filexplorer cant be used on this device. Net surfing and downloading is very gud i posted this comment from the same device. 2mp Camera has awsome clearity outdoors. Poor battery backup while using net

Review of the audio quality of EM30's music player : The first thing I noticed about the audio quality of the EM30 was how remarkably flat the audio was, and I mean that in a good way. Most handset of this price range have a pronounced low or high end, which is done to hide their deficiency in the rest of the frequency spectrum because the target audience usually likes that kind of audio quality. But the EM30 breaks that tradition and goes for a more natural sound that is consistent across the audio spectrum. The bass on the EM30 is not of the pounding and muddy variety that you would usually come across in this price range. It is tight, precise and well weighted. When you put them on for the first time you may feel the bass is a bit on the light side. But play them for a while and you will notice the subtle thump that they offer which is far more satisfying than the meaningless boom that you would normally hear. The mids are also clean and very clear, with the voices coming across with the right authority and precision. The highs are incredible; they are crystal clear and extremely sharp. You will notice that they go far higher than most other handsets, revealing more detail in the top- end than you will ever hear in this price range without ever becoming sibilant or harsh. Those coming in looking for thumping bass will be sorely disappointed, but if you want a clean, natural sound that is almost audiophile grade then you will love the EM30.

Good day to all! Just read some feedback from this thread... Basically, all phones/mobile has its unique feature(s). So nevertheless, you have to buy a mobile/phone that will suites for your life style, right? And stop bugging up negative feedback and comparing it to other mobile/phone. There were no such phone/mobile that will perfectly suites all features of a user life style (Wi-Fi, blue-tooth, infra, memory slot, 3G, 4G, 2G, Compass, MP3 player, video, camera, touch screen, games, multi-jack-audio port system, etc..) then i will buy for it! ...OR, If in case you've find a phone/mobile who discharge money, then i HIGHLY suggest LETS BUY IT! correct?

This is worst phone ever- has its +ves and -ves. Ok lets come to problems: -ves 1. One cannot switch off the message tone. If u want to put message alert at off-- u just cannot do it. 2. If you have a miss call then it keeps buzzing until you see miss call or delete it. 3. Same goes for message. 4. No flash no backlit display for indoor pics. 5. Too slow 6. You cannot see key pad when you are out in sun 7. looks like a remote control of car audio system. 8. Too difficult to change settings. Not user friendly. 9. Audio jack on top of the phone looks like a boil on a phone. It look like a protuded ulcer. 10. Horrible vocie recognition Good Features +ves 1. clarity of voice 2. is the same. The only difference between E8 and Em30 is that the former has touch capabilities in the keyboard (not in screen). This phone has some issues when you come to use it for a while, with incoming calls... it laggs a lot because of memory leaks, I dont recommend it. if you want a cheap one, buy some sonyericson or samsung. If you want a good Motorola you will have to spend a lot more

I have this phone for almost 2 years, great phone, have a 8 gig card with it and it works fine. The phone gets a tad slower with the 8 gig card, but it is something which you can live with. Exceptional build quality, so solid in my hand, it has an aura of quality materials and makes you thing it cost much more than it really is. It's a ROKR so music player and sound quality is awesome, works great with Bose bluetooth headset and is truely best phone in its class in this respect. Radio is also great, tuned in twenty stations and the sound is so loud a crystal clear! All my freinds drool over the display, its just 2" 320*240, but the quality is exceptional. Every thing looks so vibrant and colorfull in it, not to mention videos. I am completly satisfied for what i have paid for this phone. I highly recommend this phone as a must buy.

The ICEpower audio chips commonly found in Samsung mobile phones boosts sound volume which has no effect on the quality. Thus Samsung phones are evidently one of the loudest in the market and have a clear advantage over its oppostion. Both Motorola & Nokia tends to put more emphasis in the idea that quality should prevail over volume. The utilazation of dedicated DSPs in Nokia & Motorola offers an unmatched quality of sound since DSP puts into action sophisticated algorithms & advanced audio codecs to improve the audio signal rather than making the sound louder. When i bought this phone, being a phone critic compared it to three other music phones of the same price bracket. 1)Sony Ericsson W302->3.5 mm audio out/DSP: -/- This phone has no advantages over EM30 at all � the materials, assembly, ergonomics, software platform, screen and audio quality are apparently inferior to what you get with an EM30. The only plus of W302 is the size, the model is a really miniature piece. But that�s not going to save W302 from an utter failure in the competition with EM30. 2)Nokia 5220 XpressMusic-> 3.5 mm audio out/DSP +/+ : This phone happens to be a stronger adversary. The choice between these EM30 & 5220 appears to be a hard one, the advantages of Motorola don�t look that impressive in this pit fight: a slightly better screen, the Linux-Java software platform, support for 4 GSM frequency band and a generally higher quality of communication including a better and louder speaker sound, but the battery life in player mode is shorter. As for the sound quality in particular, we really liked the very natural sound. 3)Samsung Beat M3510->3.5 mm audio out/DSP: +/+ The sound quality doesn�t look as great if compared to the competitor model by Nokia but maximum sound volume is high. The basses sound too muddy, intermixed with quantities of noise. The distortion rate is stably low, though. Of late, Motorola have been through a time of trouble, but it didn�t stand in their way of tailoring really good products. Among the handful of worth mentioning handsets, EM30 is probably the most eye-catching, combining a powerful fashion impact and a high sound quality, all of this coming at an affordable price. At times, it lacks some sound volume, losing in this aspect to Nokia and even Samsung. The high quality of sound is provided by the hi-end hardware & DSP and a selection of advanced audio codecs. The Spatial Audio technology polishes the resulting signal to a state of perfection. If you are satisfied with the not too impressive sound volume, but the best SOUND QUALITY go for EM30.

Hardware & software are identical. If you are price conscious buy EM30, if you want ultimate style buy E8. I have used Nokia 5130, so i can teel Nokia is louder, while EM30 is not so loud. It seemed that Nokia has 15% more volume at the top end. But when listning to music EM30 is better, Nokia has music controls.

If you are into texting a lot, i will advice you to buy QWERTY keyboard phones. They are heaven for messaging. With EM30 you can text quite well, but is not the best in this field. As for equilizers in the music player, you have preset ones, no custom settings can be done. A word of caution, if you are a follower of 'squeak & bass' genere and love booming bass EM30 is not for you. Buy SE instead. If you want audio quality then EM30 is the perfect match. But if you want all in one, buy the "one for all & all for one" Motorola MotoZine ZN5.

The EM30 model runs on powerfull Freescale MXC275-30 platform, having a 532 MHz ARM11 processor & a 208 MHz StarCore SC140e Digital Sound Processor(DSP). The interface is based off Linux Java 7.1 and can indeed be named one of the best interface solutions currently available on the market. It's not much of a secret that every music phone manufacturer does everything to outreach the competitors in the quality of audio. Now one has to know the difference between sound quality & volume. The ICEpower audio chips commonly found in Samsung mobile phones boosts sound volume which has no effect on the quality. Thus Samsung phones are evidently one of the loudest in the market and have a clear advantage over its oppostion. Both Motorola & Nokia tends to put more emphasis in the idea that quality should prevail over volume. The utilazation of dedicated DSPs in Nokia & Motorola offers an unmatched quality of sound since DSP puts into action sophisticated algorithms & advanced audio codecs to improve the audio signal rather than making the sound louder. The DSP separates unwanted noise from the signal, and only then is passed to the amplifier. When i bought this phone, being a phone critic compared it to three other music phones of the same price bracket. 1)Sony Ericsson W302->3.5 mm audio out/DSP: -/- This phone has no advantages over EM30 at all � the materials, assembly, ergonomics, software platform, screen and audio quality are apparently inferior to what you get with an EM30. The only plus of W302 is the size, the model is a really miniature piece. But that�s not going to save W302 from an utter failure in the competition with EM30. 2)Nokia 5220 XpressMusic-> 3.5 mm audio out/DSP +/+ : This phone happens to be a stronger adversary. The choice between these EM30 & 5220 appears to be a hard one, the advantages of Motorola don�t look that impressive in this pit fight: a slightly better screen, the Linux-Java software platform, support for 4 GSM frequency band and a generally higher quality of communication including a better and louder speaker sound, but the battery life in player mode is shorter. As for the sound quality in particular, we really liked the very natural sound. 3)Samsung Beat M3510->3.5 mm audio out/DSP: +/+ The sound quality doesn�t look as great if compared to the competitor model by Nokia but maximum sound volume is high. The basses sound too muddy, intermixed with quantities of noise. The distortion rate is stably low, though. Of late, Motorola have been through a time of trouble, but it didn�t stand in their way of tailoring really good products. Among the handful of worth mentioning handsets, EM30 is probably the most eye-catching, combining a powerful fashion impact and a high sound quality, all of this coming at an affordable price. At times, it lacks some sound volume, losing in this aspect to Nokia and even Samsung. The high quality of sound is provided by the hi-end hardware & DSP and a selection of advanced audio codecs. The Spatial Audio technology polishes the resulting signal to a state of perfection. If you are satisfied with the not too impressive sound volume, but the best SOUND QUALITY go for EM30.

E8 & EM30 are almost identical phones in looks, hardware & specification. Both runs on Linux Java software platform. EM30-> Style,music quality & value for money E8-> Style,music quality,touch key pad, fastscroll wheel. V9-> Same hardware as E8,EM30 but software platform is P2K. Has anyone of you experience a delay with getting a notification ring from a text or phone call? like in my case, I always miss some calls due to the phone will only play the ringtone 10-15 seconds after the call has been ended by the other party. When I switch the phone to vibrate only, the shake notification is working real time. I'm just wondering if there is something I can do about this cause it's consuming a lot of time. Exceptional sound clarity- High quality audio hardware. But require a high quality in-ear headphone(with more bass response) to know. Awesome battery backup. Design is good. But keypad requires some practice to type correctly. Slight lag is noticed when running CPU intensive apps. Camera is doing its max (but there is a limit to what a 2MP can do)

R6716_G_71.03.02R firmware belongs to 71.03 batch while R6716_G_71.04.06R_C belongs to 71.04. Do not confuse the firmware release date with the firware version. This is a common mistake i also made. Here 71.03 devoloped before 71.04 was released at a later date may be on request of some developer. The firmware is a freeware since it is based on Linux.

The ROKR E8 & ROKR EM30 uses the same software platform LJ 7.1 and the same hardware platform Freescale MXC275-30. They are of same dimensions & they both have same 2.0 inch screen size. Actually EM30 is the Asian version of E8 deviod of the FastScroll wheel for navigation and the touch keypad. EM30 used normal keypad & navigation keys. Every thing else are same. Thus the sound quality of both the sets are identical.

i had same problem i flashed the phone to the newest bootloader and firmware { R6716_G_71.04.06R_C } change the bootloader first then the firmware this fixed my battery problem

i don't think so i bought this phone on sunday night, and then charge it until morning, then i use this phone until today ( Wednesday night ), and it still 20%..i use it with heavy use ( call, text messaging, browsing, playing music ), i think the battery is great :) only maybe the lag & keypad isn't really comfort for text messaging.. but overall this phone is great at price range ( IDR 1.250.000 in Indonesia )

Flash it, as i said before, it'll increase speed, it'll be more stable, it'll be much better, now it has Mplayer, which allows you to play .avi .mpg and many other formats on High definition [on a phone, it's nuts but you can do it if you want, no need to resize the movies you download, just watch them]

Actually aprt from poor battery life this phone is steardy and pretty good to use. if u apply few changes to its firmware u get more features and also u can put skins into this phone. nice crystal call and good sound aswell. it's worth the price :) few screenshots of my EM30

guys the phone is really good as compare to the phone available in similar price range . i got mine at rs 6100 before 20 days so please me one thing which phone is good as compare to this guys nokia and samsung sucks in this price range in my opinion its superb camera is not good at night and battery backup is average and its true that u wil get bored with this phone after few days but you shud start modding ur phone and u will fel that the phone is superb . i advise u to buy this phone without hesitation.

I am using Moto EM30 since last 6 months. I would like to ask two questions about this handset. 1) whenever I receive a call, but if disconnect by caller after 2-3 rings then also my phone rings and when I press ok it shows missed call. Then main screen remains on until I make a next call or receive a call. 2) If you try to call to EM30 user from a landline or other mobile, this phone first light-up & gives ring only after 2-3 rings from other party (landline user). yups...this fone rocks w/ its crystal talk technology but the software sometimes lag...but for move or delete or copying files,the speed is awesome!! love the unusuall design....landscape screen but no qwerty keypad---not to convert w/ qwerty ones--- my thumbs to big for those buttons on qwerty's. camera is so so---just a bonus for music fone,in my opnion use the in ear headset---the "bhangra" equiliser is boostin' u out!!!

This web site has one wrong information about MOTO ROKR M30. In the spect, mentioned MOTO EM 30 has not photo ID feature. Its wrong, has photo id... Its a nice set...cool get up...nice music performance..camera is also good. Software features are also smart... But wrost thing of the mobile is, side portion of the mobile... Its made by plastic and spray colour base. Colour will remove very soon...Then it looks very poor. Opearting system good, but slow. charger point, USB port should be separate with well designed... As a whole MOTOROLA M30 ROKR is a nice set... -Aumieo. Thank You.

I am using Moto EM30 since Nov-2008. From last one month my mobile phone (EM30) gets hanged in gap of 2-3 days and then I have to switch off the mobile and re-start again. Well,it seems with the moto browser,u cant minimize it.but u can open new windows 4 a different url address.if u want a browser that can be minimize.just download the opera mini browser.i have try it!when u browse with opera mini,just simply press the end call.then a pop up menu will appear,just select the "go to idle,apps run"option.then u have minimize the opera mini browser!!try it,gd luck

fyi em30 is similar to e8, the difference is e8 has the omega wheel for fast music browsing and sms,pic etc. just like ipod. but its halfed due to patent. and e8 internal mem is 2gb. so the bottomline less hardware and memory capacity - less price. u shud know that any of phone model of any brand that has the capability of gprs or edge/3g/4g, is capable for modem use...its one of the hardware u have paid for the phone...which alike costing 100$ phone type and above comparisson to nokia brand the n-series, actually u pay to much for the application running on the phone and may varies to the hardware, therefore smartphone cost u more, than the phone for its hardware, motorola phones which most is not a smartphone u'll paying for the hardware, nokia phones if its smartphone so the price wud be much incomparable u can compare em30 capability to any branded phone, know their capabilities and their differences. I own zn5, stands as e8 with 5mp and wifi, just simply like dat.

I've decided to get this fone as a substitute on buying an ipod.. Cheaper and easy download of music and videos just copy and paste compared to ipod.. If you want to experience great music like ipod, just buy original ipod earphone and BOOMMMMM! Supporting up to 8 Gig memory is all that matter on this fone.. The bad side, itz like having an ipod classic on your pocket because of its size!

I got this phone for my friend who wished to purchase a good mobile for less than INR 10K and this phone cost us Rs.8600(INR). Looks fabulous! Weight, build, water proofing, keypad morphing, ease of use, compatibility etc too good. I liked the phone for its exceptional fast interface unlike my very own zombie N73M. 8GB Memory was too good and 18.5MB internal. Well I wished internal memory was about 40 or 60MB but never felt a drag. Good responsive mobile. Well Could have had a hot plugin feature for the microSD however we used a 4GB internal Transend memory which was itself too good and spacious. Also transfering via usb was the fastest, I have ever seen. (Well we didnt get a 8GB card to see how it performed but with 4GB the response was as if it was running 512MB card no drag whatsoever). No need to explain about audio it rocks on all departments and ear phones or speakers both are good. FM was crystal clear and sharp. Search Presets were too sharp and too good. On video and picture the camera was very good and crisp for a 2mega pixel with 8x zoom but 3.2 megapixel with LED flash would have flattened us. This is one thing the designers should have thought about if they had wanted a top market product. Motorola next time you focus just keep everything just the same add 5Mega pixel camera with 8X zoom and make it 3G and WIFI and price it at 12000(INR) you will steal the market. TO make it a stunner give an infra red with some remote control capabilities for household devices how about a unified remote for hometheatre, DVD Player and TV you will make it the best in the world. Well 3G was a miss but GPRS and GSM was just as fast as any 2.5G would do. Bluetooth was good and nice range too. Infrared a miss but do you really want it? well most manufacturers dont provide it may be Motorola can rewrite things here. Earphones good for a opentype but still they could have given us an optional internal ones like SONY Ericsson. Phone tools for PC well it allows to synchronize backup and update and copy contacts in media mode and in Memory card mode transfer files, photos and music. and whatever as a USB drive. But not like Nokia PC Suite Phone browser. You cannot have the phone able to receive or make calls while you have it in memory card mode. So why not Moto try the PC Suite of Nokia route? This was something I didn't know whether it had alternatives? Divx I didn't find a DIVX player for this Linux OS phone so I didn't try to play a divx file may be I have to try. Real player I dont know if it plays for this mobile. But 3GP was too good and Windows Media Player 11 compatibility was too good. Bottomline: Best Phone ever stylish, trendy and right for any pocket. Solid build and rock solid phone that rocks. 2MegaPixel without flash, no WIFI, no 3G and no Infrared, still you would feel the phone is worth the money you are to pay. You will never feel you bought a budget phone rather a top fashion phone with loads of stuff that rocks for years to come. Well this is not a smartphone but if you have this phone you make a statement that you are a smart ONE!

great sounds, can be used on any speaker, remembers the words you type, and neat color; starting to get boring because there are no available themes, you can only change the wall paper, the screen is too small and the keypads are not comofortable to use.

I've just modded an EM30.My friend asked me to mod it.The stock firmware came with the phone was 01.02R and Indonesian FW.It was slow when scrolling thru music player.So,I downloaded somewhere the same firmware.But this time it's LP 0024 and it came with Singapore web session.So,I guess it's a Singapore FW. After did some modding like: making it telnet and ftp-enabled,installing themes,changing bootscreen and changing the font ,I played with the phone for an hours. It's a little different with E8.The plus point for EM30 over E8 is: -having a vibrate and ring options at the profile setup, -louder speaker,and -faster menu scrolling, The only thing I like from EM30 is a vibrate and ring as we know on E8 we only have vibrate then ring. So,I think EM30 is also a good phone. It only lacks the omega whell and haptics feedbacks. EM30 just needs time.Modding isn't that much but in the future it will be the next best thing. I recommend EM30 for everyone.You won't be dissapointed. My friend's EM30 is using 4GB MicroSDHC memory card now and it's still fast enough. :)

Hi I am using EM 30 from last 2 months...The model is really a very nice looking and music is good .The best feature is that you can attach this to any of the normal Pin speakers and headphone.Battery Back Up Superb... BUT...The processing of this phone goes very slow if loaded with songs and Sms...and that too less than 1 Gb space...If loaded with 8 Gb this phone might burst...:) ..GPRS is very Slow...Sync with Comp next to impossible...you cannot update the software...Just try to delete a Sms ..you give the command and wait till you finish a cup of tea etc...means its really very slow...sometimes it Denys to respond back and you have to restart it again...Such a beautiful model with good music but very slow processing made me think to sell it Off ...and you go in the market to sell it...Just Try...and rest your exp would speak...Thanks to Motorola that I have used their their no of basic mobiles bcoz of good battery Back up and performance but this model makes me think of buying Nokia again...

I bought the EM30 yesterday and I tell you it's really good. I enjoy the features of this phone. I love music so I love the EM30 rokr. The memory is expandable up to 8gb. I can save a lot of music in it. If you received a call while you are listening to your fav songs, the music will stop and after the call the music will continue without pressing anything, same with receiving messages! This is totally a rokr!!!! Bravo MOTO..

i am using this phone for past 1 week basically i had purchased this phone for music music review:the volume of this phone is from 1 to 20 units but till 10 units there is no volume heard only after ten does the volume starts so the first 10 units r waste the quality is good but the volume is low when we switch on the equalisers the music volume automatically decreases to make clear the equaliser same is the case with bass boost when we increase the bass boost.the bass remains the same but the volume of actual muzik decreases radio volume is higher than mp3 player battery is bk60 and it lasts for 1 and 1/2 days design is good and the ligting is good keypads r not dat hard but as i was used to nokia using it is difficullt

Correction: the 2GB card that "comes with" E8 really depends on where you live... At where I live, one would get "no" card if the phone is purchased via a network service provider. Though through almost any other shop, 4GB cards should come with the phone...and for less than US$10, one can probably upgrade to 8GB (which E8 also supports from my own experience)

Hallo! Besides the keyboard and omega wheel the difference between this 2 phones is 2gb internal memory + 2gb micro sd in E8, and about 28mb in em30 (and no card in the box). But, according to review on some site (dont remember where, sorry), battery lasts longer when you use micro sd, not internal memory(on e8, of course). I bought em30, and its great, but I'm thinking of buying nokia e63 instead of moto :)

Bamboo, I had a chance to play with EM30 and E8 before settling with the latter. What made me opt for E8 is its mysterious looks especially when it is in its stand-buy mode-the only visible is the omega wheel. Lock it and try handing it to some people and they wouldn't know what to do with it until you unlock it and voila...it lights up. The omega wheel is very helpful in going through songs. I have more than 200 songs installed already. Imagine if I have to use the *up and *down navigation. E8's built is solid, too.

Sorry I don't have an EM30, though I have used E8 (very similar to EM30), plus 40 Moto phones in the past 14 years. (of course some of them were analog or CDMA without SIM) Though at least the ones I've used in the past 5 years or so, I was able to set the phone to view the contacts on both the SIM and phone at the same time. You can call my Moto service hotline to confirm, the number is 852-2506-3888. Oh, when you look at the country code, apparently I don't live in US, and I do agree with the person who mentioned the fact the so called "same phone" being sold among different places in the world may have different settings and maybe even features. For examples, all Moto phones being sold in my city are UNLOCKED among all carriers, and they all support Chinese characters input.

Dear RBA, I read out your suggestion about my doubts of EM30. I think you are not using EM30 phone because both your ideas are not applicable in my EM30. About 1) viewing contacts in both phone & sim memory, 2) Missed call alerts, what you suggested are not avaible in Moto EM30. I was using Nokia phone, Now recently I have purchased Moto EM30. The following are disadvantages, I found in my new EM30 phone: 1) You cannot view contacts in Phone & Sim at a time. 2) Missed call & SMS alerts cannot stop or hide except in 'Silent or Vibrate' mode. Unless you see Missed calls or SMS it won't stop. 3) Music in loudspeaker is not loud. 4) Pictures and photos (otherthan 320 x 240 size) cannot be fixed or use as wallpapers because it scales out of viewing screen. i had a unique experience... i used the rokr headset for past 4 days and every day minimum i hear 4 hours of non stop music in full volume... to my suprise battery was drained to zero only after two and halfdays.... but with other headsets--Creative EP630 it came only one and half days... Motorola culd have given sm more specifications in a above 8000 Rs phone......Virtually there is not much difference in it than the SLVR series but only extra features are:- equaliser and bass boost(which most users hv no idea, hw 2 operate??), Morphing keypad,and a audio output jack. The cost wuld have been justified if either it had greater than 2 Mpix or it was accompanied with a flash( A basic feature provided by NOKIA's Rs7500-Rs8000 phones!) Overall d phone's cool new look and music features along wid d innovative morphing keypad are the only plus pts. !!

Hai! everyone out there, I am here to explain some of your queries as I am using it for quite sometime now. For Look, I shall give 8/10; For Shape & screen, I shall give 5/10 as the set is wider in shape & due to horizontal screen, it looks a bit smaller, A2DP is not working properly, occassional 1 or 2 seconds chopping is there, in 1 minute duration, I got maximum 12 choppings. Menu is a bit sluggish, 4-5 seconds delay is there. Motorola may have invented mobile phone, but there menu pattern is of out dated. No, improvements in nearly last 8 years. Broadcast message you can't see on your screen, Operator logo you can't display on your screen. Bass-Boost function is useless. On good & costly headset you can have good bass feeling. Except look & little music, it doesn't have any great feature. The crystal talk feature- I didn't find any difference between motorola & other make phones. That's all my dear.

The best review i've come across for the EM30 is on smape dot com The phone has all the things that I need (talk, text and decent amount of storage. Its offered with a 1GB card for Rs. 7990/-) But what is holding me back from buying it is the audio quality and volume when it plays music. I listened to it in a store when it was being demo'ed to someone and to be honest, it was not impressive. But the store was really noisy and i could not come to a conclusion. After reading thru the opinions and feedback, it seems like the sound quality is not up to the expectation of many (the max volume is inadequate, volume drops when equalizer is on, and the bass boost having no effect) I'm not interested in thumping bass or movie hall sound effects, i just need clarity and minimum distortion.. Does the phone deliver this ?

this rokr series has the best sound same as E8. built in media player 11 and it is linux phone. bass boost is best with bigger headphone or connect directly to hifi becoz of deep bass (some say LFE). that why if your headphone is small or cheap, you will hear some volume decrease or cannot hear at all the improvement after activate bass boost feature. lol..

The difference is the scroll wheel and how they look once the display is off. E8 looks mysteriously without buttons or anything aside from the wheel while EM30 shows middle part of the phone. Plus, E8 is heavier and sturdier.

I've been using a former version of EM30, which is the ROKR E8...and it is such an amazing phone...amazing music phone, definitely a buyer and the camera is not as superior but is good to have too...by the way, i guess that the only difference between EM30 and ROKR E8 is the lack of the touch wheel and internal memory in EM30 and the rest is simply the same...ROKR E8 and EM30 both uses haptics technology, which means that all keys are touch-sensitive but responsive via minute vibrations which gives you a feeling similar to having normal keypads...when it comes to texting, it is texter-friendly i must say, i'm not having problems with it, texting is actually more convenient as you don't have to press the "virtual buttons" as hard as in a normal keypad... :-)

Hey Guys, Thiking, Moto has come up with a very good phone after a long long time. This phone is really cool. Its display makes everyone attention ontio the phone. The size of the is small. Still, it is the best phone with it looks and interface. I have already been using Q9h and need fully i had to but one more phone. Eariler i had a dilema whether to go for EM30 or E8. I bought it before one week. Battery is coming for 2-3 days and is really worth for a music phone. As everyone said, Earphones not upto the mark. Moto naming mobile phones as music phones, but still lacking in providing it at the most and the best. I used ROKR E2, it has a lot options in it. It was the best music phone i have ever seen. Why could not motorola integrate the same technology for all mnusic phones really a nightmare. Evet the TCP player installed on Q9h makes it more than music phone. Hope, the mother of all mobile phones will come up with a very good model soon to overcome all its downs since last two years. Finally, the ROKR EM30 is one of the best phones i have ever used. i am using a music phone from another brand, and the same thing is there, a lame earphones...but beacuse of its stereo surround 2.1 channel, still it pleases me... anyway, earphones could be of help, but it will cost a lot...and truly 100 MOTO is right, just make it an option...coz i have tried my music phone with a phillips (which i am using now) and yes it is better than the one in the package...

So you want Moto to include top class earphones from Shure or Bose, so the phone would cost over USD$483. (twice the price of the phone itself?) Not everybody can afford a good paire of headset...or willing to spend the $ on it. I've a Moto E2 which brings some very good music. I only use the "original" (lame) headphones, but I'm happy, because 80% of the time I use the phone's music function for....radio. So why not leave the top-class earphones as "option" for all others to "choose"? Or else, who else offers music phones offer "top class" earphones?

MOTOROLA has very good phone and good music playback like E8 and EM30. But the earphone that supply with the unit will not bring out sound that produce from the phone. If you want to enjoy music, you should buy the third party earphone. I use BOSE in-ear earphone. A freind of my listlen to my Bose earphone with his E8. He bought Bose earphone the next day. So depending on what you want? There are lot of good earphone in the market. look for one that suit yoyr budget and suit your taste

Pros: - It doesn't have the "Omega wheel", which was a pain to use anyway. - Even the haptic feedback has been removed. Now you get a normal button-like feedback. Cons: - Keypad backlight is blue. White would have been better. - There is no modeshift while operating the camera.

go over to smape.com (sorry, gsmarena) they just compared the sound quality of the mid-range music phones available in the market today. good news, Moto fans, the EM 30 won it over against Nokia's 5310 (i'm assuming 5310's sound quality is just the same as the new 5320). it appears that the EM 30 is a sound bargain among the mid-range handsets. if you don't mind not having the Omega wheel, the internal memory (EM 30 makes up for it with the compatibility of higher expandable card), touch pad (EM 30 has mechanical keys; on a side note, some people hated the E8's touch pad), and only two modes available on ModeShift (EM 30 only has 2 modes-- numerical, and music player), GO FOR THE EM 30. i think i know what i'm getting myself for Christmas (yeah, i know it's a long way to go, but i'm excited nonetheless) =)

Hello Ppl, I bought the Em30 yesterday and here is my opinion about the phone. 1) Sound quality from the speakers is simply awesome,...better than the more expensive phones from nokia and SE 2) The included headset could have been better. 3) The phone has USB charging feature which is really great 4) Display specifications on GSMarena are incorrect. It is actually 320X240, 256k colors and 2 inches. Overall the display is very good. 5) The phones UI is a bit on the slower side 6) Built quality is gud 7) The CrystalTalk technology is marvellous - I have not had better call reception in any other phone of any make . It is just awesome 8) Camera is OK OK. I am not a camera person. Given it is just 2MP, it perfroms OK types. 9) Battery Life is very good. I hope this helps

hi guys... i am back here again. as i told u bfore dat i had brought rokr em 30..last wednesday..it was going well but suddenly its mike went off(within 24 hrs.) i dont kno what was the reason even moto gallery gyus at charniroad couldnt fix the problem..but they were kind to do the replacement..n i got again brand new rokr..n its rokin till now..the showroom guy told me it must be a manufacturing fault..which appears in each phone after lahs..i dont whther its true or not but it must be manufacturing fault only...display is good people finding difficult switch to other themes. or download them from internet but dont call it poor. it has style graphics n solid sound in mono speaker..about web services i hvnt tried them will tell u more.as i use it more...bye

And as i'm actually using the E8 i reccomend you this phone, but don't forget Nokia is the world leader and it keeps this ranks proudly. I am a Nokia fan, but i realize that Moto is making great change in its phones lines. If in the past month the company has been subject to critics as people said Motorola just continued to duplicated the RAZR models by several variants. It's obvious that feedback has lead Moto to make a step forward. I appreciated the effort made by its designer when consider Moto E8 end EM30. As Nokia fan i was about to buy Nokia 5220 XpressMusic when i discover the Moto ROKR E8. And i can tell you that this phone complies with all that i need as a music lover. I've read users opinions and i can say there are more positive than negative points. I decide to buy the E8 and it will be the first time i'll use another brand. Nokia has deceived me since my last phone (Nokia 5310)has re-starting problem that can not be solved. i wish the E8 will fit me and make me forget about Nokias so called Xpress music phones.

This information is for all of you out there : Motorola ROKR E8 & Motorola EM30 has got almost the same specification. E8 has 2gb internal memory & 4gb external memory, Whereas, EM30 has 8gb external memory & no imternal memory. Both has got 320x240 pixel, 262k, 2" display. E8 has touch sensitive keypad whereas EM30 has got mechanical conventional keypad (although looks like E8) : These are the differences. Price-gap is also very less, only US $50.

Motorola has 4 class. Motorola Entry Level = under USD 100 until USD 100. Motorola Low Level = under USD 200 until USD 200. Motorola Middle Level = under USD 300 until USD 300. Motorola High Level = more than USD 300. Motorola W230 is Entry Level (in my country only USD 50) with feature support 2 Gb external memory and music phone. Motorola EM30 is Low End / Low Level with price USD 200 is really possible to be music phone and possible supports 8 Gb external memory. Motorola E8 is Middle End / Middle Level with price USD 300.

I think this is a brilliant phone! This phone could be a good bang for the money if priced well. Living in an emerging country I can tell you this kind of phone is exactly what we need. We do not have 3G networks, in phone internet is still too expensive, so; why whould you focus on providing those features on a cheap phone? Sadly, most wanna-be geeks, a.k.a. fanboys (we do have them) just focus on specs without looking at what makes a product worth, its avility to satisfy most of your needs. They key pad design is just great, I'd just want to have excellent sound quality, if it has it; I'll be on line to pick up this phone.

Well i hate my K3 it restarts often then. My mom warned me about moto is not durable. I guess i had the wrong decision in buying K3. It restarts it can't handle viruses (files with) but my W200 (SE) does not restart eventhough i install applications with viruses. WELL SE IS SOOO DURABLE that's why they don't put it on SALE here in the phil. i can see many people using SE phones.

If you're Moto's management and given: 1)2/3 of your customers (mainly US and mainland China) do not have 3G 2)The rest of x number of customers from developing countries...(those who supported Moto to sustain its no.3 spot in terms of sales volume) also do not have 3G. EM30 is a lower-end version of E8, which actually "minus" the "Omega wheel". My wife is using an E8, overall she likes the phone...except the Omega wheel, which drives her a bit crazy. If EM30 really comes with the software which allows user to edit songs into ringtones, I'll definitely get one for my wife! (yes, there are dummies out there who don't know how to use other software to edit songs into ringtones...)

Motorola's phones have theirs good points, like the standard audio and USB jacks, but they have horrible points, like the software, design, screen size, screen resolution, and camera quality. to me the moto phones are just too ugly, I'm not a fan of any brand, I have phones from "every" (moto, SE, Nokia, Samsung and LG)brand, looking in moto phone I even consired buying them, I can�t imagine buying another moto, they have to make better and more beauty phones to win the other brands.
