Motorola FLIPSIDE MB508 - User Reviews

  • I had one of these and well it was completely awful. The first two months were great, but then it froze and the screen wouldn't turn on and when it did it just showed rainbow dots. I didn't drop it or anything, no water damage at all, and I took great care of it; but for some reason it stopped working. Awful phone.

  • People I'm speaking to say they can barely hear me. Are there any ways to make my voice seem louder to them?

  • Cannot recommend. Has been just barely tolerable despite turning all all the bloatware I could without rooting. Do yourself a favor and get something more up to date with a lot more internal memory. No amount of memory management can make up for what is simply not there in the first place (not even adding SD memory helps much even in the most recent iterations), but the apps forced into this device certainly do cripple it to the point of not being usable at all until as many as possible are defeated. Even then it will be an exercise in frustration. Between Moto & ATT, this device's implementation was botched. Which is sad in that it had such excellent potential for a starter Android smartphone. But now, a year later, it is merely another irrelevant piece of obsolescence. I like Motorola on the whole, but this one should be avoided.

  • This phone is trash the first time i git it i was like AWESOME but now this crap must go in trash. memory is no good the phone not even a pic up internet it just keeps loading, it freezes, it over heat, low space. who so ever maid this phone must have been sleeping while inventing it #barff

  • I have purchase a new sd card and need to install how do I do that and still have all my information from the old as card

  • my motorola blur mb580 i lost my phone service and i cant use to make calls and do anything what can i do so solve that i tried reset the phone but still not working can you help me fix that

  • my Motorola MB508 going hung when i use it fast work just tell me what i do for this problem.

  • i cannot access my notification light, i dont think this phont worth this high prices. storage is my main problem how do i fix it.

  • Motorolas product Att offered as part of their lines offered to customers. Sole excuslivly by ATT its pre-installed applactions, many are Exclusive to ATT requireing subcription fees for their use, none of these locked apps cannot be removed

  • Just put a screen protector and it will work just fine!

  • i cant use the google accounts to download apps why

  • Can you use Swype on this phone??? If Yes can you please tell me what's the app called and how do I set to use the swype... Thank you!!!

  • My phone freezes. It moves from the homescreen to my text messaging without me touching it. Its a great phone besides that.

  • I've fixed my "storage" problem and now I'm fine ;) Try this method here www ganshani.com/2012/01/11/fix-insufficient-storage-available-on-android/ it worked for me! (that's not a spam!!!!)

  • Have had the Flipside for two years now... and just to let the author know, the version of Android listed in the article needs to be updated to Android 2.2 (Froyo). See here for details:

  • Its basicly shit compared to others but if maintained well it will work decent.... it probably will always freeze and the memory suck but overall ok

  • Understand when I tell you this phone is a piece of crap. It freezes, the memory sucks, and the battery power is terrible. If your looking for a good phone I suggest the Samsung captivate glide that is what i have now and its the best phone I ever had.

  • This phone is kinda cool doe, I am kind of qwerty physical keyboard person, but if you don't have enough memory it sucks. The UI MOTOBLUR sucks battery, slows the phone down, lags and causes freezes. I admire but sometimes it's a pain. I want to root it to rid the bloatware but wouldn't even bother because I am going to get a Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro and selling it.

  • this phone is really crap i mean shitty i hate it it doesn't have enough memory always freezing i bough this phone a month ago an the speaker is not working this is total crap don't ever purchase this phone to much money for nothing good

  • Motorola Flipside or Motorola Milestone? Please help! :)

  • this phone sucks, not enough memory to load more than a couple programs, keeps freezing up requiring a master reset. Worst phone I have ever owned, I am going back to a BlackBerry.

  • run far from this phone!!!!!! do not purchase. i regret buying this phone. camera is shitty. my past bb storm camera is better than this. memory is another shitty feature of this phone. constant out of memory errors with this phone. even with 2.2.2 installed, not worth it. shitty, shitty phone... i have like 3 apps installed- less than 4 mb for 1 and the other 2 about 2 mb and it says i have 32 mb free... and dont talk about bloatware from at&t, rooted and deleted all the bloatware and it still didnt release any memory. please for your sanity, do not buy this phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Day Don keep freezing.. what do I do

  • cant connect my phone with google server, which makes it hard to download on it, and i can only recieve files through bluetooth because i find it hard to send files through bluetooth.

  • Despite using relatively high-end devices like Cliq 2 / Milestone 2 / XPRT, I still decided to get this phone (free with contract renewal) even though the phone seems a bit old by now. I got the phone unlocked and upgraded to Android 2.2, the latter really helps as I can move most of the apps to the micro-SD card. (got a 16G one for around US$20!), I am also using other qwerty Moto phones like Milestone 1 & 2, Cliq 1 & 2, and XT300. the keys on the Flipside indeed are among the largest, which makes typing easy. No chance to measure battery life under 3G operation, as I took the phone overseas which only works on 2G network, and I haven't charged the phone for 2 days already. (vs. daily on most of my other Android phones running on 3G) Hence I actually use my Flipside more as a "phone" then Android, due to its relatively compact size. For Chinese handwriting input, there is an app call touchpal keyboard on market.

  • no idea.. but there are many keyboard replacements from the android market that can support chinese n other languages like MultiLing keyboard. i currently use Touchpal cos it has swype(!!) but not sure if it has chinese..

  • hi... this phone only support English, is there any way upgrade to Chinese version ?

  • neither one!

  • yeah, my flipside runs on android 2.2..altho i don't really know what's the difference.. Really pleased that this phone scored like 9/10 for design, features, n performance :))

  • Flipside gets android2.2 update!

  • Flipside definently i had the backflip, i dropped it on grass and it comletly shattered the screen. plus it power offs randomly and u cant get any covers.O and u cant really download anthing so ummm flipside just saying

  • Love moto's, the only phone company that makes phones i don't break every six monts. Pros: Android OS, app variety and availability, music player, full keyboard or touchscreen keyboard (situation specific options), price Cons: Battery life (if you use a lot of apps), no Swype compatibility.

  • I am new to the Droid-type phone. I wanted one with a keyboard with large visible letters, and a screen large enough to read without reading glasses. I am quite happy with this phone. The battery life is short, compared with my old phone, but it more than makes up for that in it's capabilites. It also has a very nice camera.

  • flipside

  • Worst phone I've ever had. Locks up all the time and it takes 7 minutes before you can read your text messages. I hate that thing. Hate it. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone that I care about.

  • it's a pretty good phone. android is a ass kicking os. down side only 2.1 eclair and of cause at&t blocks 3rd party software so downloads are limited

  • My wife loves this phone as an entry into the smartphone market. It's not going to wow anyone looking for a high-end device, but for what it is (an entry-level android), it works great!

  • battery life is poor from my experience. It is a pretty solid device with a bunch of features. First and foremost i need a phone. the ph and texting is a bit cumberson.

  • I have this phone my first expirience was not so good but now it is tops in my list good job moto. keep them coming jorge

  • At first i hated it but i had to get to know the fone.u hv to keep in mind that its basicallly a computer...so treat it as such...its one of the best fones ive had personally.

  • I hate this phone...nothing but trouble. Overheats and the back falls off often. I wouldn't recommend. Once you buy it your'e stuck.

  • Hello Everyone, What is the SMS capacity of this phone i.e.(how many sms can be stored in the phone) And wanted to know about the battery life of this phone on moderate usage. Thanks in advance.

  • I really do luv it

  • This fone luks fab! Im definately gona buy it!

  • I would say flipside is better most prominantly coz backflip still operates on Android 1.5 which is upgradable only in the states while flipside is atleast on 2.1.

  • it would be flip slide....more stylish, cooler, and looks better than back flips...

  • which is good backflip or flipside ???????? plz do reply .....

  • 3.1 tft display, android 2.1 and a bad processor but has 9/10? who vote for that piece of shit?? Moto employees or stupid people?

  • great job moto

  • very nice come back after moto rokr success

  • I was expecting the phone should cost around US$250-350, then I checked the US AT&T site and the price really shocked me....US$399! Where I live the XT720 only costs around US$447... Worst of all, this phone does not support WCDMA 2100, which means no 3G support outside of US. Maybe is the strategy for AT&T to carry relatively low-mid end phones, (where relatively speaking verizon is offering mostly high end, but running on CDMA only which cannot be use ROW) though that doesn't mean AT&T can charge that much for these phones.

  • Looking good........ but how much time to get it in hand?

  • good look very nice again good job moto

  • it looks cheap

  • Guess you never used / tried one. I had the Quench and it offers the track-pad...which allows much faster scrolling on the screen. Just think about the travel distance between the screen and the track pad....

  • What is a trackpad doing on a touchscreen phone ? Seems mad!

  • is that a touchpad at d bottom???????

  • Price wise it maybe a mid-range handset, but in terms of Android, likely this would be a "budget buy" with qwerty. Overall I prefer phones with qwerty, and this maybe a successor for Backflip.

  • hopefully this phone will launch in my country...

  • much like an alternative to CorbyPro

  • WTF, with Eclair 2.1??? Dam Moto, u dont learn...

  • it is not mentioned here what processor this phone will have.....

  • This finally looks like the device I've been waiting MONTHS for - an HTC rival with the looks and innovative features that Motorola are getting a name for. It's seems a pity that they keep sticking with the 3MP camera. A 5MP camera would have totally sealed the deal. Please, please MOTOROLA can we have Motorblur UI devices in INDIA !

  • The features on this are actually OK for a midrange handset, suprised at the low reviews. My gripe is with the fixed focus camera! Seriously, we've had autofocus on mid-range handsets for years now, that's just inexcusible!

  • Personally think the screen is too small and the trackpad is too big...

  • It's ok, but must be support 2.1GHz 3G
