Its 2014 and I still have and occasionally use the PEBL. I love having a tiny phone with a real keypad. I can listen to my voicemails and save delete or replay them by touch without ever needing to take the phone from my ear. The biggest disappointment is the lack of memory. go over 20 text messages and you have start to receive low memory warnings. I'm considering keeping this as my 'phone' and buying a data only deal for the times I want to use 'smartphone' features (satellite navigation is useful, games and social media type stuff I can live without on the move).

I have one of these phones in green, although it's almost orange now! It's a great phone and has lasted me years, with the battery holding a good charge. It's easy to use and I love the small, compact design. A cool fashion accessory, Motorola have always been a pioneer in mobile phone design and innovation in my opinion.

Just got my pebl u6 best phone ever and I've had a few. I've used new Samsung new I phone and lots of Motorolas but to be honest they have just been binned love my phone. The feel is lovely the phone looks great and reception is perfect and it's 15 years old. Could Apple or Samsung do this not on your nelly.

Why don't you check Ebay, but make sure it is a REAL Motorola not a knock off. I got mine off of Ebay and absolutely LOVE IT. It is the best phone I have ever had. I love the one hand flip option it does. After a while it does get a little dingy looking on it's color, but it is a great phone. I have dropped mine many of times and hasn't broke yet! (knock on wood) Would difiniatly recommend this phone to anyone.

I had this 'phone for 2 years and I can honestly say I have never loved a 'phone so much. Then the speaker failed:( I replaced it with a Sony Ericsson Jalou. This looks lovely but isn't a patch on my dearly beloved Pebl. I wish I could still get a Pebl.

I've had my bulletproof orange Pebl for, wow, 4 years now. Bought it unlocked (which was bad, as it was from singapore, and had to reprogram the languages as it defaulted to Simplified Chinese - which I don't speak!) as I needed a 4 frequency phone, it doesn't have a bunch of bells and whistles, but it has never (I mean NEVER) stopped working between 3 different simcard providers worldwide. The little outer display cracked (dropped it 4 stories, and that was the entire damage), Drowned it at least twice, and it keeps coming back for more. I live in areas where cellular coverage is spotty at best - this unit ALWAYS eeks out the tiniest signal. Oh yeah, it's the ONLY phone I can wear tucked IN my swimsuit top and I forget it's there - try THAT with a RAZR!!! The ONLY bad thing is eventually the soft plastic color coating gets dinged and looks scruffy - and the little magnet pads start to rust. Yeah, someday in the far future I'll need to replace it... but as long as I can find it, it will be another U6 Pebl. NOTHING compares to this phone.

Anyway husband found that I could get the U9 through Orange so we moved to them, I do like the phone but not as much as the U6, anyway managed for just over a year then decided to get my U6 unlocked. And now happy to say I have my beloved phone back. It hasn't got the best battery life, but I have no problems with charging as always keep a spare charger in my bag also have a car charger. My only problem is I can't get software upgrade as USB doesn't seem to work, I would like to get my photo's off phone on to laptop, anyone got any idea's.

This is the worst phone in the world . It throws a hissy fit every 5 minutes , the battery only lasts five minutes and some times it refuses to work at all . I had a Siemens phone before it and it`s still going strong after nearly 9 years! Do not buy Motorola u6 if you want a working phone!

I've had the phone for quite a few years now and I have to say it worked perfectly fine, I didn't use it much for texting or pics, or any storage really, just calling, and it worked amazingly, but a few weeks ago it started acting up, it would restart on it's own, and die when the battery wasn't even low, and now a few days ago it finally gave in and now both screens are blank, I have dropped it a number of times, but none to harsh, unless something got loose inside (very probable), the phone still works, you can dial, but you can't see who's calling you, the sound works as well. I think this is the same problem as your phone was LoobyLou. So the phone was worth it, but it was time to get a new one now.

I love this phone! I had the black U6 for almost a year and it never failed on me. Unfortunately got stole... I love the desing, it looks sexy, elegant and supermassive! Very good batery life! Has low memory and no card slot but it does the job and it does it right! I saw the white version and it looks way cool! For me.. The best phone I ever had! I'll buy it again!

I had this phone for a year until I switched carriers and had to switch phones. It was too bad because I loved this phone. The look is sexy and the battery life is amazing. The Motorola I have now probably has half the battery life of this phone! The features are ok, my favorite thing is probably the built-in alarm clock. The phone attracts fingerprints though. Overall, great phone considering it was released in 2005. I'd still use it again today and it is better than many other phones out there.

I love this phone. Had it over 2 yrs. No problems as of yet. Had my share of accidents with phone falling apart but simply replace everything and it's still works. It's STRONG and DURABLE. Texting is so easy. Awesome grip on it. I LOVE IT. I just wonder why T Mobile no longer offers this cell. The only thing I can think of is because of it's durability they won't be able to make any money if everyone buys it because it'll last what seems as forever. I won't hesitate one bit to purchase another one if need be.

Hola! soy de Guatemala y la verdad, este telefono en vez de facilitarme la vida, me la ha complicado mas. Desde que lo compre, he tenido problemas con el. Ha estado en reparacion 5 veces y ahora lo tengo que cambiar, pues el ultimo problema que fue que el auricular no funciona, me cuesta US$.87 (casi el precio del telefono en mi pais) repararlo. Para mantener a un telefono que les hara imposible la vida, mejor les recomiendo comprarse otro.

I don't understand all the people that complaint about this phone... First of all... If you complaint because you can only uplaod one song... IT'S BECAUSE IT'S NOT A MP3 PLAYER PHONE!!!! If you want one you should think about the rckr or some sony ericcson phone... If you thought it was and you bought this phone thinking about it was an mp3 player... that's because you didn't read the specifications... Now... the memory is 5mb just because is for internal use, upload 4 or 5 ringtones and take some pictures that you'll download after to the computer (that's why the phone comes with the usb cable... to plug it to the computer!!) It's clearly not a multimedia phone, it was never meant to be!! It's just a regular phone, with a regular camera that support MP3 RINGTONES... THAT'S ALL! I had this phone for about 2 years now and believe me... it's one of the strongest phones ever. It's all metal, even the keypad!! The keys won't crack! The shell won't crack! The reception is great and the way it opens... is heaven! It opens just with one touch without sticking your finger between the screen ant the keypad, so you won't scratch it with your nails! I dropped it a few times and it's still working! This is one of the strongest, reliable and best designed phone I've ever had! If your looking for a multimedia phone (mp3 and/or pictures) I suggest you not to buy this phone, but... if you're looking for a great, reliable, won't-broke-phone to send sms, mms, talk and set up the alarm to wake up, THIS IS THE ONE!!

I've had this phone for about a year and a half now. I loved it at first, and its still in great condition, even after a few drops. I cracked the front screen, but that still works as well. The reception left me wanting more, but it was good enough. The only real problem I'm having with it now, is when I'm calling someone, I can't hear anything. No ringing or anything. It used to do that just for a few seconds I wouldn't hear the ringing of the person I was trying to call, but I could always hear after I was connected. This wasn't a constant problem, just probably once out of every 10 calls or so. But about 3 days ago I think the speaker died. I'll make call, and I don't hear anything when it says "Connecting".. which is annoying but tolerable. And now even after it says "Connected" I hear nothing... I'm not sure if its the phone itself, or if its just getting old, or what the problem is. But up until this past weekend, I loved it!

I have had this since july of 07 and I still have it. It has had quite a few problems thought.The front LCD screen cracked and I had to replace the inside screen multiple times because of scratches. I have to take it apart about once a month and remove the dust out of both the screens. Plus the magnets that keep it closed are grinding down so its starting not to close.

This phone is still going strong after 2 years. Reception is very strong, sound quality is basically as good as a landline, the battery is still keeping its charge after 223:11:20 hours of talk time use. The keypad still works 100% after tons of dialing and texting. My phone has fallen on ceramic tiles, in my driveway, off of my night table and there has never been a moment where the phone suffered from this. Yes this phone has 5MB of internal memory but I'm able to hold plenty of 128kb .MP3 ringtones that I cut myself. This was never meant to be a music phone. I have never regreted buying this phone. As for the menu, I really believe Motorola has the clearest and easiest menus around. Everything makes sense. Don't believe all the whiney babies who complain about this phone. I know 2 others with this phone and they appreciate how reliable this phone has been for them too.

Ok so I got this phone,...black edition.The phone is super great!The desing and the quality is superb!It is all in metal,notkinh plastic so it is wery good when you drop it or something.You cannot scrach the surface of the mask because the metal is all covered in black rubber!About the software...when I got it the software was from the gsm provider...so i flashed it,changet the FW,...put my MP and LP,did some skinning..and now the mobile is super great,super fast,stabile,never crashes,the camera is better,..it is actually a different phone now that I modded it! I recomend this mobile phone to everyone that do not need a phone for MP3 and camera! SUPER GREAT PHONE!

I'm a reviewer and got sent this Engineering Sample well over a year ago, and I must say its tough as old boots. Yes I prefered the styling of the KRZR and RIZR when I had them, but this thing has survived falling off of scaffolding, several flying moments onto concrete. It has brick dust and mortar in it and endless scratches. One things that seems to endear me to the phone over all others is the opening system. I've sat for hours playing with it! Simply and honestly its a simple, perfect phone that is only really let down by the pitifull internal memory. The VGA camera is a bit dated, and the screen looks a bit '2004' but I use it as a phone. SMS-ing and calling and for that, its perfect.

I've had to replace my pebl 4 times for the same thing in the past year. After about to months of use it stats to do weird things (such slit screens,turn off on its own, and some times deletes my rcv. or sent calls. This is by far the worst phone motorola has made!!!!

this is a very cute cell phone. My samsung E370 got stolen so for a replasement this a good phone for now. The memory is poor but that just forces me not to dowload so many useless stuff. This is not a insult to the public because it is a sexy phone and alotlike the V360 exept for the memory!! just needs a memory slot for a big memory card. SO UPGRADE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ppl are saying it doesnt have enough memory, but not every phone is gonna come with alot of memory bcaus not everyone needs it. If memory is important for u, then buy a phone with expandable memory and leave this one for the ppl who dont need alot of memory. Not too long ago, 5mb of memory would have been alot.

Really, I only wanted the phone because it looked nice. My dad was in two minds about getting it, for when I bought it, it was quite expensive for what it was. For the money, it should have a much better camera, the memory, quite honestly is a load of c**p and the video captures are horrible and blurry. I had to ge tmy original one replace after a week as the speakers broke. The key pad is quite good as it is flat, and thank god nothing is touch screen, as things like that annoy me. I thought the way the PEBL opened in very unique but i'm very protective of it and barely ever let people touch it other than myself as it is so flipping fragile. I've had the phone just about a year and the screen and keypad are quite badly scratched, aannddd due to the way the phone is coated, you can see hand marks and everything whenever you touch it so i'm constantly wiping it to make it look decent again. Overall, unless you don't want to waste money on something that looks nice but isn't really that great, don't bother ^_^.

I shoulda gotten a Nokia, what a waste of $100 PLUS a 2 year contract. These phones are so crappy that less than 6 months after I bought it, T-Mobile wiped them off their site. Waiting for a Sony Ericsson phone model to come out to replace this. It never actually broke down on me or gave me issues...but the phone book sucks, memory is miniscule (I dont even bother putting songs on it), gets dirty ALL the time, constantly have to wipe it.

Robust ergonomically designed phone. Hinge will deteriorate if swung open to hard. Fingerprint magnet on the keypad. Charger port located on top of phone(inconvenient). Camera decent but not great(videos same). Otherwise a very nice phone from Motorola.

I've had this phone for just under a year, at first I loved it. It had a unique design and keypad but that is all it has goin for it. The camera is sh** and the video is worse, battery life is good, memory is bad, I can have up 2 3 songs or 3 pictures and thats it. Overall a crap phone, I'm happy I didn't buy it, my sister got it on contract and gave it me so free. If it wasn't I would have cried !!

:P I had to read some opinions about this phone before i bought it:) Design is quite nice and really attractive,the phone fits in hand very well,its really pleasant to held it in hand, until u have to open it and use it,when u face that the advantges of this phone ENDED! The opening mechanizm is really annoying ,the auto flip up is to powerfull,it sometimes made the phone drop from the hand,if u will wear the necklace wrist u notice that the phone opens accidently very often,it is really annoying!Stupid motorola menu and so on,for daily use this phone is real s*it,buy it but dont use it,couse u gonna dissapoint:)I bouht it for work in dusty conditions i hope it crush this one soon and i have to buy other "workphone" :)

basically, this phone is terrible. the camera and video are mediocre at best, the memory is only 5MB, and since it auto flips open via springs, it can wear out after a while. also, the outside is VERY easily scratched and damaged. only thing good is its looks which doesnt even impress some people. dont guy, crap phone.

To lirissa, My pebl has just done the same thing except i cant receive. My calls are the same-can't use. I sometimes have signal but can't use it. My best advice is take it to your local carphone warhouse or your network shop and see what they can do. If you hvae unlocked it recently that might be why, same as mine .

hey, the man that likes c, tell your friend to read the manual, for dumb people, dumb phones (the pebl is not the case). Of course that memory can not be expanded, guess waht, doesn't have card reader!!! Warranty never covers physical damage, NEVER, if u use bad your phone, you pay it (obvious). There are 4 other colours, bluettoth can't be upgraded in any other phone (I don't even understand what you want to say with that!) and yes, it have handsfree! Got a green one some days ago as a second phone, and his wonderfull, I like it so much that I almoust doesn't use my smartphone anymore! Obeymoto is great, use it is a pleasure, great great looks, a head turner, small, good battery life, nice display (could be bigger), the UI is nice (tipycal from motorola) but could be better, basicly, the perfect second phone, got all I need with style

why bother with this my friend traveled to the united states where main motorola headquarters are, only to be told the memory can not be expanded, mp3's can only be put on there with their original memory size, there is no warranty on the phone if it breaks within 2 years, there are no other colors, bluetooth can not be upgraded to other versions, there is no handsfree capability and the phone completely is stupid 2/10 i like the swish opening LOL

I drop my phone many times a week, but nothing's gone wrong with it yet. I've dropped it on gravel, road, cement, but not in the toilet yet. It always flips open when it hits the ground but no damages so far! Some dents, but barely noticeable. Love the phone.

I've had this phone almost 6 months and I still love it. I'm just as attracted to it as I was when I first saw it and I think it's worth the money. All my friends love the one handed flip feature and often steal my PEBL just to do that. Colors are kind of over the top, just get a black one and change the faceplate. The screen rubs on some of the raised buttons because of the sliding feature but you can buy new screen covers for cheap. I love my PEBL, it never leaves my sight.

Once again the 5MB is only for ringtones and pictures. When using the Mobile phonetools, you can cut any part of a song you want as a ringtone. Right there you're creating a file that's MAX 400kb if you don't make the whole song a ringtone (the phone only rings for little over 20 secs. The Pebl also has an amazingly sharp screen with a nice sounding ringer speaker. Battery life is VERY good too there's no question about it. I'd explain how to make an amazing sounding ringtone by partially avoiding mobile phonetools. But it's a bit long. I'll do it if some of you are interested.

My boyfriend recently bought this phone for me and it is by far the best phonbe I have ever owned and I have owned over 20. It is so simple to use, light and feminine (in the pink any way). The memory is a bi small at only 5mb which can only hold a 20 pictures and maybe 3 songs if you're lucky. It doesn't crash or freeze like other phone and the buttons are so easy to use. The backlight when in the dark is a little faint but you can still make out the numbers with the lines being more prominant. It has a really smart way to open it too hard to explain but it's so addictive and cool looking. The callers name appears on the front display when incoming call and the sound is perfect. The camera is wonderful although it is less than a 1.3 that is more common these days, it is of fantasic quality. Also the signal is great. I really do recommend this phone for people who would rather call and text than use there phone to listen to music - you want music i recommend the sony ericsson w300i. BUY IT NOW - you won't be disappointed!!!!

I've had the phone 3 mos and used it continually. If you need a phone it is worth every penny. It is a compact, rugged, reliable PHONE that will handle email, IM and limited web access. Much more ergonomic and sturdy than pocket piercing sharp-edged Razr models. Kids hate it because it is "only" a serious phone -- not an MP3 player, hi-rez camera, PC or media center. It will sometimes trip up as most phones do and have to be rebooted, but no big deal. Most glitches are really network and not phone problems. The phonebook is a little clunky--read the manual and it works fine. Buy the $20 software to customize, backup or keep an extensive phonebook. The voice recognition and voice number dialing is worth the price -- do train it to your voice. Turn off Bluetooth when not needed and the battery life is good for 3 - 4 days standby. Just charge it in the evenings. The voice quality is great, and signal is there in areas a Nokia cannot be used. By the way, T-Mobil is 1000% better than Cingular.

Why are all of you such babies? This phone isn't meant to be an MP3 player or a digital camera. Buy a Slvr L7, Razr V3I or a SE walkman phone. The build quality far exeeds many other phone and the same goes for just about all the other Motorolas. I have a 3 year old V600 with 415 hours of total time and it's still going strong. In fact I've owned 5 Moto's before and they've all held up very well. The Pebl is one of the best phones for call quality and reception. The menus in the Pebl, Slvr, V600, Razr... are just about all the same and they are soooooooooooo easy to use. I find the Nokia menus to be garbage not Moto's. Also, who cares if I have 10 people with who's name starts with an "S"? Press #7 4 times and it will give you all the people with the letter "S". By the time you start trying to type the person's name in SEARCH you've done the same with a MOTO. I've also never seen a Moto that would only accept 10-20 txt msgs. I have 85 in my V600 right now and another 40 in my PEBL In conclusion STOP BEING BABIES.

I used a PEBL phone for several months, but it is so buggy and had so many problems that I shut it off and went back to using my 3-year-old Panasonic cell phone. The biggest problem was that it shut itself off at random times. I'd set it down on, then pick it up a few hours later and it would mysteriously be off. More recently, it began shutting itself off automatically whenever it failed to connect a call. Even before it started malfunctioning, this phone's needlessly complicated ring tones and alarm clock settings really annoyed me. This phone sure looks nice, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

I had my phone for 2 months. It is a great phone. Takes very nice pics, easy opening function. i jus love it. I got the blue one. Only problem so far is that it got a little dirty from everyday usage, somehow it does not want to come off. What should i use. I am afraid of using hard substances on it because it might damage the surface, its just like 3 dirty marks at the back. Memory is small but y do u want to hold whole songs on ur phone anyway,its not an ipod. However, it can hold up to like 3 whole songs on it. And that crap comment i read about it only hold 14 text messages that is a lie. I had 60 in my inbox and 40 in my outbox and it was still accepting more. the keys not hard to dial either. One other thing i am hoping someone responds, Does the magnet in the phone cases damage the phone and the camera? I have not been able to access mms and email. but i know that is a problem with my service provider (NOT MOTOROLA) To all of you out there contemplating about purchasing the phone, worry no more. GO AND BUY THE PHONE ITS HOTT!!!

reply to email do you open the phone like a normal flip phone? Yes only difference is at the top of the phone, above the sub lcd is a small sliver button which you push down which opens the phone flip style. The phone is good, small and light.

Well, the only thing I like is the "slide-n-flip" feature on the phone. Intuitive, but the structure is very brittle. Expect it to wear out with time. 5 MB, bah what a rip-off! And of that 5 MB available, how much is already taken up by apps, ringtones, themes etc. that are already standard on the phone? Absolutley disappointing and a complete rubbish phone.

COMPLETE CRAP! no memory for messages, songs, pictures or anything. hardly any utility softwares. vga camera is pathetic. its time people prefer megapixels. sound nowhere near standard. looks awfuly odd. opens easily but breaks even more easily. costs way too much. worth a broken penny. if you have one. better throw it wher it belongs. deep under water.

Brought this phone a week ago cant transfer files from computer to the phone. the camera is good it looks great and it aint heavy. bluetooth is disapionting coz it only works for 60 secs at a time. the keypad is difficalt to get used to. not many ringtones come wit it but u can easily get round this but it is a good fone and i would recomend it

Just read a whole load of opinions about this phone both good and bad. I love it, the great feel of the casing, the easiness of opening it and the way it sits perfectly in my hand. Had only one problem with it after 7 months, the phone started to switch itself off. Don't know if this a a re-occuring fault or due to the couple of times I dropped it, but it's been replaced and I still love it regardless of that little hiccup. I own a digi camera and an mp player, so only want a phone to talk on and text people and this phone does what a phone is supposed to whilst looking great - only gutted that they've now bought out new colours and I can't have one of those till I can upgrade again next year!

I have had this phone for a few months and LOVE it. I have never had a problem with. I also have a one year old who plays with it, so unless you are trying to break it, it's kinda difficult to break it in half, or crack the camera lens. The voice commands are awsome. I have a little difficulty when I have my bluetooth hooked up with the voice commands on it. Other than that, everything else work great.

ive had the pebl since Jan....and ive gotta admit its been a hell of a let down. I upgraded from a samsung and i tell you what i should have upgraded to another samsung...the prob i find with motorola's is the design..fantastic! the software...ive seen more power in a 1970's calculator. I love this phone! I purchased the orange one. I had the Razr V3x before this phone and didn't like it at all. The Razr software was very "buggy" and slow. I like the PEBL much better. The call quality seems better and it's much smaller.

Listen, why are people always saying "the phone breaks on me in a week"? Simple response, cause you dont take care of it. Answer these questions. How many times have you dropped it, how many times do you put it in your pockets with your keys next to them so you could scratch the phone, do you have fun using it as a football? I just got the phone a few days ago. You cannot judge a phone by only having it for a few weeks. Like everything else that is mechanical, it breaks down in time. So the only real question about this phone is does it last, and nobody has been able to answer it. Why? Because they dont give it a chance. I agree that a basic phone like this one costing over 300$ canadian is a little on the expensive side, but I still bought it for its simplicity and its looks. So far i'm very happy with what i got. I dont need my phone to have extensive memory for music, I have my ipod for that. I dont need my phone to morph into a leperchaun or do flips. All in all, good phone, user friendly, the flat buttons was a little odd at first but you get the hang of it really fast. The auto flip is really cool. The only thing i didnt enjoy so far about the whole phone package was that crappy ear peice they give you. I had one for my old V400, complete peice of ****. Buy the LG ear peice or just go with bluetooth, I rather have the ear peice, alot cheaper.

I had the same problem to install my PEBL. my computer was telling me that it could not detect my mobile deive, and that it did not past windows logo testing.i decided to try it on my friends computer and it installed without complications the only difference in my attempt was that my computer did not prompt me to restart. i did so after it i completed the regfistration and when iturned on my PC ans click the application it ask to enter the device profile. i did so and it worked

This is without doubt the worst "phone" you could possibly buy, EVER! I had it for about a week before returning to the store it just sucked so bad. Now, where do I start? The software is just awful, it's so slow and buggy, motorola have been using this OS for about three years now so it is dated aswell, especially when you consider that it was pretty crap when it came out! The camera is abysmal(not helped by the grainy display)- my old SE t610 could take better pictures, in fact now that I think about it, the t610 could do most things better than this telecommunications travesty. There is only 5mb internal memory (with no card slot) so the idea of an mp3 player is a little limited? Not that it matters as the sound quality is so woeful that you wouldn't bother storing any songs on it. Call quality is even worse. The keypad is awkward which makes the allready difficult to navigate software damn near impossible, and of course texting is out of the question. Also the backlight is non existant so you can barely see the keypad in the dark. The opening mechanism is crap, it springs open with such force that you struggle to stop the thing flying out of your hands, the matt black finish scratches up and flakes off very easily, by the end of the week there was barely any paint left. Don't buy this phone, you'd be better off with two tin cans and some string.

ive had the motorola pebl since january now, and i think the phone sucks basically. i was one of the suckers who got grabbed in by its advert. the phone has alot of bad points but the main bad point about the phone is the size of its memory, it has possibly the lowest amount of memory in a phone that i have ever seen. also the whole styling of the phone sucks. when i first got the phone i thought the style of it was great and the flip design was great, but after a while u are sick of seeing it. this has completely put me off getting another motorola phone ever again.

For the PEBL U6 there is a prog called Moto4Mac which enables you to get rid of ALL the standard ringtones. As far as I'm aware off there is a prog for Wndows as well. Google for Moto$Mac to begin with

Pebl is basically the Razr in a different shell. The spring on the flip is too strong, and the phone almost flips out of your hand when you open it. Then there is a section on page 3 of the manual where it states that you shouldn't put it in your purse or near your wallet because the magnets will erase all of your credit cards. This is actually true. I know three people that have had their credit cards erased. I wouldn't get it for anything. And it costs too much.

wayhey! i have my pebl and ooh its lovely. its really small and it feels good,its all smoothy. i'm very happy.i've only had it a few hours but already got some new ringtones and pictures on and photos of my friends. memory is double what i had on my old phone so it seems amazing right now! to be honest, i'm a text-a-holic and wasnt sure about the keypad but it works really well! i've always had nokia phones before but i've taken to the different layout and menu really well..ok, it doesnt have mp3 player but i already have one of those so i'm not bothered, and the camera isnt amazing but for just saving snaps on your phone it does the job. recommended if you want a phone that looks good but isnt to flashy...i love it

QUESTION: does anyone know how many SMS I can store in the memory of this PEBL? I used to have a Motorola V66 on which I only could store max. 15 SMS. Later on I bought a Samsung E720 (bad phone!) in which I could store about 100 SMS.

My friend asked that question about the time thing too. His was set on Autoupdate to the cell towers, so when daylight savings happened, I just powered down/up the phone and it adjusted itself. If you want to manually change it, I think you have to switch the autoupdate off, then go down another menu level to change it.

I'll be honest - i got the pebl because im shallow and i like the way it looks, im not too fussed about an overload of features [though obviously they'd be appreciated!], and i did have a samsung d500 before. overall im happy, but wish i could hide the left hand menu-bar that orange insist on - is there any way of hiding it? iv managed to get the anlogue clock up using the tip left here on the boards - but would love to be able to hide my icons [have tried doing it at start-up but orange seem to override my requests]

For those of you who do complain, it's most probably because you are making it ten times harder than it should be. I have no problems. Although the phone looks and feels fantastic, I can not get my head around the phone book. I have tried to transfer sim contacts to phone memmory but am unable to display just phone memmory contacts so all contacts are duplicated in phonebook. to add to this I am unable to add more then one contact No. to each name resulting in some cases to 8 entries for 1 person. . .this is begining to get on my nerves & I have only had the phone since Friday. If I can not sort this out I'm getting rid, thank God its a contract phone. If anyone knows how I can sort out the phonebook pls let me know asap (I have about a week left to rtn it).

I am not keping the PEBL, mostly because I've gotten to used to Sony-Ericsson software. The problem is I want to erase ALL the phone numbers in it and it has only erased the numbers on the sim card not the phone memory. Can anyone out there help? Please!! sad to say this is the worst phone i ever have, its power keep going off and i need to switch on the phone at least 7 times a day. Sometimes by a shake of the phone, power just switches off immediately, and when i received the call, the phone also switches off by itself. It look stylist and presentable but almost unuseable. I do not know how to group the phone address and there isn't a way to organise the phone. I have had my pebl 3 weeks now and thought i would tell everyone how it's going. Well the phone looks far better then most phones on the market today. The feel and looks are spot on. I want to talk about the sound, even though it's only got 24 channel sound, it sounds louder and better then my wifes D600. When looking for buy this phone I knew i never needed a super dupa 2MP camera or mp3 player, hence why i choose this phone. The camera is still decent enough and playing mp3 as rings it very good. Iv just split an mp3 to about 40 secs long and added it to the phone. It's not as though i'll leave the phone ringing for a bit before i answer it. This is my first motorola and im pleased with the layout. Some of the themes look good and wallpapers look really sharp on the screen. Java wise the phone is good aswell, Im playing games like sensible world of soccer, Cannon fodder and loving it. I plan on getting plenty more games for my pebl. The office tools are ok aswell, alarm clock and memo recorder and planner work well and im happy with them. Blue tooth works just fine. The only problem is that om my wifes D600 once the phones are connected she can browse my phone and take pics, sound files and video's if she wishes. where as i can send a single file but cannot browse ofther phones to see what other files they have that i could use. The only problem i could see with this phone is the lack of memory. But since iv loaded my phone up with 4 games, some newer ringtones and wallpapers i still have 4mb left. This was after removing the pre-installed java apps. all in all im very pleased with my new phone and hope many other people enjoy there Pebl.

I got my brand new, �200 motorola pebl at the beginning of Feb 2006 which I upgraded to from a Samsung E720. It's now the 8th March, and I am on my third one - this one doesn't work properly either! So I am swapping over to the Samsung D600. The 1st Peble i bought, the screen didn't come on. The 2nd one, when anyone phoned me, and I flipped the phone open, I couldn't speak to them - I had to remove the battery and then phone them back! The third one continuously asks me to insert the sim card, even though it's in. I have contacted Motorola to tell them the problems I am having with their flagship phone, and they told me there's nothing they can do about it, it must be 'bad luck'. But 3 bad ones out of 3, I don't think so! Please hurry up, Mr Postman, and bring me my Samsung, I should never have changed to Motorola.

you can upload actual mp3 format songs to the fone but as you only get 5mb of memory i wudnt bother as you will use up all your space

Hi JayC Yes you can attach multiple numbers to the Contacts on the PEBL. Also, although the spec is nowhere near as high as the Nokia N90, 6680, Sony K750i etc, I have had all of these and the PEBL is by far the best phone I've had in recent years!!

Where is the Wireless Village feature? according to the specs it should have WV! WV= an open standard you can use to chat, MSN Messenger etc. it only cost gprs data. I bought mine from internetshop, so no strange Orange firmware. But I think one menu item has been disabled: IM (Instant Messaging!) anyone knows how to turn it off? I already ordered the phone, after that I learned Motorola didn't implement EDGE (fast internet) like they were suppose to! That (& no IM) REALLY SUCKS! a phone that comes out a year after the V3 with no extra's (except great voicedial/activation)... damn you Motorola

I wouldn't advise anyone to get this phone!!! Firstly it has no flash - even with night mode u can't take pictures unless you're in a really bright room. I got this phone just before my 18th but I have no pictures of my ngiht out becasue the camera is so rubbish! The flip action is cool but my mechanism began to work itself loose after a week (my friend has had one for a while and it feels like its about to snap in half!). Also the bluetooth is rubbish, no phones seemed to pick me up and it was extremely tempramental! Its really hard to navigate too; because the way the menu is arranged depends on your network it takes a while to find things out as the instructions don't always correspond with what's there! In the end I sent it back and have just ordered a samsung - so here's hoping this one's better!

anyone tried the voice dial - i wouldn't bother, the name dial is useless, the number dial slightly better, working about one in ten tries, this makes it very time consuming, it's easier to do it in the normal way, nice phone etc. but features that don't work are a waste of time

Im 16 and i got the new moto pebl for christmas and i think its great. All the stuff thats inside it is very similar to my old v525 but i love the flip mechanism. I havent read all the reviews so i dunno if this has been answered: but u can record longer than 6 seconds you just have to go to the video options and change the length to 'maximum'. The camera is really clear most of the time but when you zoom in 4x it goes a bit grainy is that normal?

Jusy in case anyone missed it. -- It IS possible to change to analog clock with an Orange phone. I will try to explain in English (I am dutch). The Orange software is loaded in the end as you turn on the phone. The Orange software overrules the original Motorola software! So you must go in the menu as soon as possible. To do that, do the following: * turn the phone off for a minute * turn the phone on * enter pin Now, you must be fast! * touch the red button, so the Orange-start-up-logo dissapears. * quickly press MENU, SETTINGS, PERSONALISE and HOME-SCREEN. * If you are quick enough, you can change the clock settings to analog now. It works with my Dutch Orange PEBL. Good luck!

Hi Elaine, I'm on a contract with Orange... from what I can gather you can't globally set Delivery Reports to On; you have to specify when you want a Delivery Report. To do this, once you have created your message; Choose the 'Menu' button Select Message Options Change Delivery Report to Yes Select Done Send your message Hope this helps

This phone is not the latest in technology regarding the camera or features but the style is great and is comes with everything you need for basic users. Also has a cool Rubber feel on certain version that does not scratch! That is my favorite part. This phone beats the RAZR which I had last because the design is nicer and not everyone has one!

hi, i got the motorola pebl today and i'm having problems with the bluetooth - which lets me connect to other people but then it just freezes! Hi Vix, You do not need to attach a voice record to your phone entry for voice dialling,all you have to do is settings - personalise - voice dial setup. Follow the instructions it will ask you to say a few lines of numbers so the phone will know your voice. Aftre this just press the button the the right side of the phone it will then say 'say command' there are six options that you can verbally command the phone to do one of which is voice dial. So you say 'voice dial' and then the phone will ask for you to say the name.It will then dial that person. Somehow it learns the sound of your voice and knows what word you are trying to say. Cheers for the instructions but my phone has either fixed its self or Orange have updated. The only remaining problem is the lack of memory for the media stuff. They claim you cant delete the factory stored sounds and pictures.

I will tell you the honest truth about this mobile pebl. It is absolutley great the design and the way it looks the only bad thing is the memory it is awful i thought they would have improved from the motorola v3 only having 5mb but it is the same the photos are really clear though and you can put them on your computer with a usb cable you get with it. I have taken no videos watsoeva and about 16 of my own photos and had about 60 messages in my inbox on my phone and the memory is full its awful and their is no memory card slot. but overall it is a unique design and one of the best desinged phone made.

This is a fashion phone for people who appreciate the design effort from Motorola design team. Nokia 6230 is just a mobile phone for NORMAL people........just like any other phone. By the way, all Nokia phone models all have different software/firmware bug when they first introduce tp the market(Nokia never test their phone well enough before they put them on the market; & this is the fact!!!)

I recently decided to upgrade from a Nokia 6230 to this phone. It does look nice, no doubt about that but feature wise, it is no where near the standard of my old Nokia. You can not do simple things like change the message alert tone, after a day it has greasy fingerprints all over it, the flip design is cheap and not sturdy enough and overall it is a very difficult phone to use. I have sent it back and am going to wait for the Nokia N series to come out!

I got one a couple of days ago, and I must admit I really like this little phone. Paired with bluetooth headset no problem, and the digit dial and voice dial commands are really sharp. And it looks good!!!

the pebl... looks, great, feels great, all your work mates will want to hold it, and if you want to make calls and send texts this is a great phone. If you want to take video and photos then it isn't brilliant! Get a small digital camera! The length of video can be changed by reading the manual and going through the menus. Voice dialing has worked great for me - even with my strong regional accent. It takes a few reads-through of the manual to learn how to do everything - but i guess that is why they supply you with one!! The box comes with a personal handsfree on orange but not with O2.

Just got mine today....looks great and feels great but menu system is annoying and camera is fairly poor. I wish video clips were longer, but i can put up with all that since i have a camera, mp3 player etc too. A beautiful looking phone, great tactile sensation, flip up is a bit of a nuisance (top half is too heavy), but otherwise physically gorgeous. Unfortunately as usual motorola manages to produce stupid menu menu's despite everyone else in the industry managing to cover everything much more simply. Finally, and worst of all, the icons!!! They produce a beautiful phone, and then got some 10yo to design the icons - they're boxy, crude and childish - how about you spend a bit more on the graphics designers. Bad menu's and bad icons is enough to make me regret the purchase.

Pros : Great looking phone with excellent feel & the size is just perfect. Very strong reception. Cons : Keypad not bright enough & not as user friendly as the V3 keypad. Main screen can be bigger by utilizing the extra space available. Video clip too short time & camera can use higher MP ones. A great design phone none the less. Well done Moto.

I got this phone last week. I love the shape design, the feel of the material, and the colour of the external display. However, I find that when i'm slightly aggresive shutting the flip the phone will restart! I can also tap quite hard just below the zero key and it will restart, not very good! I'm in the middle of sending it back, hopefully they all weren't made like this because I love the phone. Yeah, ok, the features aren't the best, but i've come full circle since my first mobile, the most I want is to be able to call, text someone and have bluetooth, that's all I use a phone for! So some good design goes along way with me. Hope this helps

Azza, to change from digital to analog on the clock go into menu, settings, intial settings, time and date; turn off auto-update; adjust the settings as you need; turn auto-update back on.... its a stupid place to put it, but once you learn the trick its not bad.

I've been a Sony Ericsson user and was apprehensive about buying this phone. This is one of those rare phones that has a tactile feel that makes u want to caress it. The weight of the phone itself gives an impression that its solidly built. A few issues that I have with it is the backward user interface. The icons look so 1980s, like Windows 85. The least they could do was to give us better looking ones like the ones found in E680i. My main peev is with the phonebook. I can't believe they are still using individual names for each number instead of grouping it into a user's set of numbers. And what is that scroll wheel doing on the interface? Arrrgghhh! I feel cheated of screen real estate. They think we're that stupid to need it to guide us through navigation? Since the camera is on top of the screen, it wasn't possible to have a bigger screen. But if you look at the edge of the screen, the thick lining around it could have been used as extra space. It would easily provide another 15-20% screen area. Why am I not sending it back? In the end, the cool design won me over. Motorola has finally been able to give us a design that closely resembles a Star Trek communicator. Now, if they would only add in a feature to make a sound when the phone is flipped, I would be able to use the communicator sound with it.

Great Phone. All those comments about lack off features are, i think, rubbish. So it hasn't got a megapixel cam. If i want to take serious pics i use a serious camera, so it hasn't got a card slot. i use my pod for mp3. i use my phone for..... calling people and that's exactly what this does and the interface is very user friendly and i looks awesome and don't forget people, the outside material isn't plastic it's fully metal and the package come's with a usb cable, BT-headset,CD (phonetools software) and charger. Eat yor heart out Samsung and friends :-)

I was never interested in the look of this phone from website pictures until I saw it & hold it in my hand yesterday (this phone was available in Hong Kong for more than a month already). After I saw it & hold it in my hand, I just can't resist the temptation & brought one! I think that the design is great. The phone look nice & the feel of holding this phone in your palm is excellent. This phone is small & the exterior material Motorola on this phone just feels amazing to the touch! The drawback is that the firmware is the same as my V3........what a shame! Motorola could have given this Pebl U6 a better camera & higher resolution main display (plus a little bigger screen). Anyway, I love this phone because of the elegant look, the small size of this phone, the feel of the material & how the shape of the phone fall so smoothly in my palm.

I've been using this for a while, it's a neat phone. But I haven't used it to its potential at all yet. I've been able to connect the Pebl to the computer via bluetooth, and also to another phone. However I haven't been able to log onto the web. The opening mechanism is pretty neat too, I found out about it when I was bored and decided to mess around with the phone. Over all it's a very neat phone... loving this than my v300. Big leap.

i just bought the phone..whole look of the phone is very nice...outside looks cool too..but opening mechanism is very unusual.you could drop the phone very easy..no bluetooth headset included..too expensive for a phone same as other moto phones...good phone for a girl...

All Motorola phones have got speakerphones now! Motorola do not advertise it as a feature anymore. Same is the case with MP3 player.

they updated it and changed the name of the fone to U6 instead of v6 jst last week... they also changed v8 to l7... i don't think this fone has a speaker fone and its got voice dialling and i think the keypad works de same as v3... hopefully it comes out soon i'm waiting patiently

Yes i agree with ice_man. My brother has a moto v3 and when i played around with it, it feels exactly like my v400. Exact same functions and a camera that has no visible improvement. IMO moto sucks.

I have a V80 and i think i will replace it with the V6, unlike other comments in this page the v80 was a terrific mobile for me. Like the V6 they're not cutting edge technology but very stilysh.

1399.99 has to be a typo. if htat's the actual asking price, I'd be very shocked with Motorola. That said, this phone isn't even out yet, and quite a few of you have slammed it like no other phone before it. At least let it hit the market before judging it's character.

Ascetically and technically its a beautiful mobile, as is the V3 Razr. But I will never, ever buy a Motorola! Why? Because the grahical user interface is damn right awful. From the graphics down to the the layout of the menu and lack of speed. Have they changed it with the V6 Pebl, lets hope so. Otherwise again like with the V3 Razr they will kill off what could be an all time classic. If Motorla need a hand in designing a GUI, hell I'll give them a hand!!!

What's with the complaining all about with this phone? If some of you bother to even read up on the features, you'd see that they've done a great job combining tried and tested technology from the 500v and 600v series into one nicely done package. I happen to like it. For those of you complaining about the VGA, get a real camera, if that's all you want to do. The fact that any of these companies can combine technology together like they have is amazing. 5 years ago, a cell phone with a camera inside of it was unheard of. Some of you were still flaunting a Star-Tac! I do agree that it's high time that they come out with more memory available, but I've also heard that you can dump some of the unused features on the phone, which would then allow more memory space available. Nevertheless, there has to be a good reason behind not giving the buyers more memory space, aside from simple greed (in this case, there is none, other than to buy an new phone......) To be blunt, this phone was originally made for women, it wasn't until later on it became more universal (women like softer lines and brighter colors....). Regardless, the features and the look of the phone is makes it's own statement of the person welding it. If you hate it, go elsewhere and stop gripping.

This device does not have a very appealing design. I love the V3 design. I wish Motorola would make phones with more memory; add an expansion slot if there is battery power to spare. I can't imagine 64MB of flash storage would cost that much more. I would pay any money for a V3 with more storage memory and faster processing power. A phone with a powerfully CPU and long lasting battery infinitely better!! I wish there's a way to submit opinion directly to Motorola. Peace.

I currently own a V3 but this some how does not seem as stylish or good looking, but maybe mor slick. However it does have a few extra functions to make up for it. However, I think that the new nokia 8800 style phone is better, and sorry motorola - will be switching to nokia as soon as the 8800 is out!

Yes it does have blue tooth for all those who were wondering. I reckon its awesome but I haven't seen what the screen is like yet. The new buttons look really cool but I wonder what they're like to use. Some say they're easier and others say they're harder than normal. I guess we'll just have to what till it come onto the market. Can't wait. Looking forward to trying it out.

This is not the v6 I was expecting, this looks like a variation of the v690, a so-so model released as a fashion phone in the Asian GSM markets. It has no blueooth and the ability to record video clips.

4096 colour outer screen? but it looks like a single line mono display a la panasonic x70 to me? And why still no memory card or useable on board mem? Also - still has naf phonebook of my v3 where it shows every number as a seperate entry even when you input them as say 3 nos for one contact!!!! Not impressed. can u tell?
