Motorola Timeport P7389 - User Reviews

  • I have a bootstrap problem here: in order to un-sim-lock, I need the IMEI. My only information source for the IMEI is the phone itself. The usually recommended procedure to obtain the IMEI is to enter #06#. To my knowledge, the only thing, the phone does without a SIM card, is to accept emergency calls {crazy behaviour: why doesn't it provide me all other services, that don't need a gsm connection?} If I do it the favour and put in a "foreign" SIM card, I have to enter the PIN of this SIM card {'hope, I have it}, then I'm getting into the loop of having to wait for entering the "special code". No chance to enter the famous "#06#" to ask it for its IMEI. Does anybody of the readers have a workaround?

  • anyone know where I can get a replacement battery in Canada?

  • To unlock your device you need to contact the supplier of the handset with the IMEI number, you can retrieve our IMEI by dialling *#06#

  • hello can you helpe me about the unlocking code please i am using **05* but i need a code to unlock it how i can do thank you

  • hello i have motorola timeporte i cant unlock it using **05* need unblock can you help me about more info thank you

  • Now, march 2013...still working as a first day.Bought in Las Palmas, nw in Montenegro.Receiving signal from 28 nautical miles-tested.Try it with new ones.Best phone ever, love him. only battery becoming little bit fat, need new one,but still working 2-3 hours.

  • i use mine to shoot laser beams from the antenna.

  • phone key lock????

  • dove posso trovare una batteria di ricambio, perch il telefono ottimo.

  • This is a great phone. Except I don't know where to get a replacement for it's battery and cover. It's a very strong phone, one can use it as a weapon!

  • It is a great phone but if you hit that voicemail button by accident it uses up all your minutes without u ever knowing it.

  • I put my fist battery in after 6 years. Used it in europe, middle east and now S America.

  • I've been using this phone since 2001, 24/7, and on both sides of the Atlantic. It has its faults, but it still looks like new and has never failed me. I replaced the battery for the first time last month. I won't get a new phone until the Apple iphone is available pay-as-you-go and G3 ;-)

  • hey,im chinnu frm srm college,chennai..i stil use ma sexy Motorola Timeport P7389..its jus wonderful n i keep changin ma batteries always since i have planned to use dis phone til ma death..;-)))

  • I still use my Timeport P7389, though almost continuously having it on 24-7 since 2001! O.K., I have two original batteries. Due to its long "life", my keys have worn off to near-illegibility now. This cellular phone features very good voice quality, but has no funny gimmicks at all. Its only bug: When you turn it on, having no reception in that moment, it will stubbornly ask you to "check SIM card". :-(( Oh my God! Resoloution: 1.) Insert any other SIM card, turn the phone on. 2.) Type in the PIN code of that SIM card, if required. 3.) Turn phone off again. 4.) Insert your own SIM card again, and turn the phone on again [unless you have no reception!], it will work.

  • To unlock this phone, 1. Type in this: **05* 2. then key in PUK number 3. then key in PIN number. ANyone need manuals? I have plenty...email me.

  • I once had this kind of phone and it was great......but then it happened that my receiver cannot hear me but i can hear them.....and i think it is the speaker that needs to be cleaned.....it's a pretty good phone......i use it for almost two years without any complaints......first problem is that and not yet fixed......

  • @people in general: I do not understand the ongoing complains about Moto's menu layout. I use only 20% of the menus regularly (at max.) And after adjusting the menu's to my needs it never has been a hassle to use the phone with three keystrokes at max. Before bitching around you should R.T.F.M.

  • 20th August 2004 SOS! I need your help! Our mobile P7389 is now locked and asks for the "Phone Unlock Code" (not PIN nor network-unlocking code). I tried the default codes 1234 and 0000 without success. The keypad is blocked and I cannot even go into the Menu! Could anyone help me? Many, many thanks in advance!

  • please i will like you to assist me in finding out about my security code of my motorola timeport p7389.

  • Can you imagine. I get this phone only for 24$.It^s pretty cheap don^t you think so.

  • I bought the phone just because it's tri-band and I was travelling to the U.S. Now that I'm back, I won't be using it anymore. I find it's very hard to use because it doesn't have SMS ID capability and the backlight is very weak. The menus are very deep and even unlocking the keypad requires both hands. All of the other functions like voice dial, vibra, voicenotes, ringtones, etc. can't compensate for these shortcomings. I hope Motorola soon comes up with a software upgrade to this phone. It looks nice and business-like and the price is very affordable.

  • Well, i have one. Design isn't cool ofcourse, buti it's light phone + Li-ion battery. And mine P7389 got GPRS - can't understant why it's not mentioned among it's features. Anyway, it's not my firt phone - who says it's my last one. Now i'm looking for ericsson T29 or siemens S35.

  • raghaven, Are you still looking for the manual? If so, go to WWW.motorola.com Find the link to Consumers and you can download the manual in a number of languages, for free. On the other hand, I believe Motorola sells the manuals for $8.50 (US). Once you download it, you need the Adobe Acrobat reader to read the manual.

  • The phone does not show the model number on it. It is virtually impossible to distinguish from similar models without looking through reams of technical info. Could have been better thought out.

  • how can i enter the ringtones for my P7389? Write an email to me plz, if you know.

  • Please send to me the userguide/ manual in pdf or txt format. thanks in advance regards raghaven

  • good but the menu is like s..it.U know what I mean!!!Onestly,I'd rather use a NEC than this Motorola model. The problem is that I hawe one and I want to get rid of it!I want a Nokia! Any adviceses???

  • melody

  • I like it a lot. It's both convenient and functional. I recommend it.

  • Un telefon excelent!

  • Cele mai bune telefoane.

  • A very good and economical mobile phone available.

  • STOP AND READ!!! This is the worst phone i had in my life for this price! It's menus are weaker then the Alcatel OTE DB, even the 'old' 5110 is much better in menus! It has the same annoyng menus as a Motorola 3688 that I hat two years ago. If you had other phones, as Siemens M35i, Nokia 3310, Ericsson T10, or some like, I swear to God, it's not worth it! Although it was new, I kept that phone for two weeks, and i traded it for a Nokia 3310+15$ (cool, huh?). Apart from the good batterry time (150h/2h) - real times, and the astonishing signal, it has nothing good in it! It is a shame for a trademark like Motorola! This phone shoud have been released on the market 3-4 years ago, not now. Or at least at this price. Best regards.

  • Well in the mean time I discovered what was the problem: at the first charge motorola needed 10+ min to be charged before it was able to get on the network... but after that, good phone!

  • It's a very good phone, but I fell some head pain when I use it more time. I have read about it that it has high SAR rate.

  • I like the phone except for it needs a keypad cover, as one bump and its dialing someone I didnt want to dial. And lock feature is a pain to unlock cuz by the time you do, its flipped to voicemail. Also it never shows you who's call you missed, just that you missed one, so you cant call back My old Nokia did that, and it is the most valuable yet simple feature

  • Well, maybe it's just bad luck, but I bought one and 10 minutes after using it when I tried to set up the WAP it just blocked itself forever... Otherwise it's a good phone.

  • this is just to let you know that i appreciate every bit of this handset.

  • I bought the P7389 because I needed a WAP-, infrared- and wireless data modem-capable, tri-band (900/1800/1900) GSM phone for a reasonable price. I'm using the phone in the USA with a VoiceStream SIM card and EarthLink ISP services. I'm not totally happy with the WAP-browser (Phone.Com's UP.Browser 4.1) but on the whole for this price for the services I needed P7389 is the best choice at the moment. It works as advertised. Possibly the Ericsson R520m, T39, T68 will be better when available but at a much more higher price.

  • excellent all round performance

  • I've got a P7389 but the alarm function isn't working and I cant use 3 colors. Any one idea? The other things is true. And is it posseble that I see who send me an sms i mean not only the number, if that number is in my phonebook then write out the name not the number.
