Motorola V2288 - User Reviews

  • The first phone i owned.

  • My first phone,... :c

  • I had this peanut phone in 2001 man I loved it! I loved listening to music so carrying it around to school was awesome! The audio jack however, once my headphones broke by the end of 2001, I could no longer replace them with X-Cingular Pre Paid lol awesome memories and great little phone my first cell phone

  • My first phone .... one of the best at the time.

  • First phone for me too. 13 years ago... look like a century!!! Very stylish, with gummy shocking colored cover, and fm radio (unfortunately still without rds) and wap.... god... I spent 80 the first week ihad. Let me say something in my language... che nostalgia!

  • brings back good memories. when people thought that my phone is possessed by satan because of it's built in radio receiver :)

  • i still love this set thanks gsmarena.

  • I'm still using it after 10 years and it does everything I need! But batteries begin to be a problem

  • It has an FM Radio :D

  • HAHAHA now THIS beast brings back memories. No clock, no alarm, no vibration, no games, no nonsense lol. My first ever cellphone. Now, if only I can find where I stashed its batteries... :P

  • Still using it after 10 years and does everything I need!

  • there is a web site where you can still buy the batteries i forget the web address but you should find it. just type the battery number and the website selling them will come up.

  • this was my first phone.really strong really good.clear quality.

  • My 3rd phone, back in 2002 just after it became verizon, god I must've been 17

  • this was also my first phone....its quiet good

  • My first phone to, it's a werry nice phone, quite good at his time.

  • My first ever phone, was good at the time of launch, FM on phones was almost unheard of. Plus it came with 2 grippy rubber covers. Was a really stylish phone for its time. Decent performance but as poor ergonomics. Its more of a remote control shape than a mobile phone.

  • Was my first phone. I liked it very much. But modern phones are of course much better. Smaller, color display, mp3 ringtones, better battery performance, no antenna sticking out. The fm radio was cool!

  • this was my first cellphone, and my worst cellphone. also, wasn't it called the "shark"?

  • Hi a friend of mine has a V2288e Motorola handfone and the batteries are 3 x AAA type serial no. SNN5542A and battery charger, we are looking for replacements can anybody help? The Lady in question is a pensioner and its the only fone she can use as it enhances her voice and she can be heard by the reciepient. Help needed. my email is [email protected] Thanks

  • Was my first phone too...good network..good receiver,,fantastic FM radio..yah cool.. was stolen though Man ilove the headset,,good sound quality

  • In the army on 2004 I was the proud owner of three army shoes..2 to wear 1 to keep in my pocket. But this army shoe was special as it had FM radio..and men did I use it on 2004 final of the Euro (me being Greek). and for that event though I had it just for one month I loved it.. Sniff

  • my first phone too... my dad bought it for me because it had a fm radio. man, have i listened to that... =) (mp3-players didn't exist yet, or maybe, they were still way too expensive) i liked it, though when compared to the nokia menu it was quite complicated. and the batteries... after a year or so they went dead after like 3 hours. nonetheless, loved the phone!

  • :-) First phone for me too the FM radio was great but he had clock and other stuff that aren`t mentioned

  • My God, it's amazing that a lot of people had this one as their first phone... Me too... wow.. Got it on August 2002... it has blue rubber cover.. very nice.. I regret I had sold it.. I wish I could have it back

  • What a chance! I have been missing such commentary chances about Motorola V2288.Ofcourse this was my first phone that i live to remember in my everyday life.It was magnifique! It was one of the first phones with wap & FM radio before any other phones. Its stereo sound are still unbeatable by any other phone! But why don't you make one more of such type without aerial but it should have a coloured screen;FM&Short Wave radio, mp3, camera, internet, memory card, blue tooth, wider screen, should have usb cable to connect to computer, quick access features,it should neither be slide or flap. And many more features. Please don't forget to maintain stereo sound features!!!!This should be a special phone! No matter how expensive it will be i will buy.

  • This was my first phone, too. I loved it. It had great functions for those years wap browser, fm radio. But after 4 years of use(2001-2005) the battery life time was ... 2 hours. I've miss it now. V2288 rulz

  • Aww I miss my first phone!

  • this was my first phone and i really was inlove with it so much.i remember it had faces that you can change it with that were plastic..

  • Oh My First & Last Phone. im from Bandung, I Use that Phone from 2000 until noe 2007 is so strong enough.Coool Phone but yeah no clock.:-)

  • Wow this was my first phone, it bring me back to another happy times, yea, really really a good phone for that time :(

  • I have been with my moto since february 2001.I love this phone.I really tried to resist buying another one till technology hit me in the face and i had to grudgingly go to shop for an LG. but the moto spirit keeps nagging me so am thinking of buying a moto V360.fortunately here in Kenya you can have many cell lines, well, depending on your finances. I still use my v2288 for my second cell line. I like it coz of the loud ringer tone. i guess there is no other phone with such a ringtone that no matter the level of noise in your sorroundings, you will definitely hear your phone ring.i guess that covers for the absence if vbration. One feature i like about the v2288 is the quick access menu. with two button presses you can make your phone silent especially in meetings or something. I guess my first love phone was the best. Thanks moto!!

  • :) I'm reading your comments and I'm suprisied how many of us has this mob as first one! :) It was very heavy and really robust but I've enjoy it! Worst 'feature' was not haveing built-in clock so I didn't know when somebody calls if I had missed calls. Now, it is funny to remember all troubles because of that! :)) But first one could never be forgot!

  • my first phone too! sadly got stolen in a house burglary, and i've been searching for its make for over a year! i plan on buying another now, just for the memories. i went from this to a motorola t191, then nokia 3510i, siemens sf65, sony ericsson w750i and now onto my lg chocolate white. bit of a technology shift!

  • Nostalgic memories, this phone gave me. I still have mine sitting in my drawer. Pity i left the batteries in it for too long and now it won't turn on lol. My 1st phone this was, loved the funky covers. Very robust too! Dropped it down a long flight of stairs, and it landed facefirst, and it STILL worked! Pity it didn't have a clock though LOL. Might try find new batteries for it, and use it one day, just to turn heads on the street lol.

  • This was my first phone (back in highschool - 1999 ish i think) and I absolutely loved it, the radio, the fun covers - won't hear a bad word against it! memories! of course it is huge and feature-less by todays standards...but still, good times good times!

  • this was my first phone ever. i enjoyed using it because of the fm radio feature, even though it's the only feature. i'm not using it now because the lcd monitor got destroyed. now i'm trying to fix it so i can use it again.

  • this phone was great! if available in the future as a 'comeback special' in color with built in camera, it would be a hit!

  • This phone only lasted me a little under a year. Crap batteries and features. Only got it as it was the only pre paid available at the time that had WAP! Oh my have times changed. The radio was a novel feature.

  • Nice phone, strong radio but its problem is it has no clock, alarm or games and makes it a bit inconvenient. I dont recommned it for first time users, too complicated. Battery life is really bad.

  • ive donated mine to chrity a month ago.it served me well, not one problem, that tower of hannoi was hard.the batteries wre completly spent,i suppose the 3 batteries are now the lithium ion .been thru many phones the siemens s45 best.now using moto e1000 and nokia 6630 + orange c500.just wish this e1000 had an extended battery ?

  • One of the best phones i've had. I still have it packed up somewhere - gone through 2 nokia's and an LG since the v2288. Still get it out between phones. It does the job! lol

  • i have a startac 75 and i would like to know if i can add musical ringtones to my phone. plz help. thanx.

  • give me free :)

  • great but no games only on internet and not many good ringtones 7/10

  • why my v2288 doesnt have any games? In your catalog, there are three games

  • This phone hasn't really nothing except FM radio which is quite ok. But the thing that really annoys me most is, i think, common to all Motorolas: software!!! Just do something like this: open a phone book, start pressing menu to search a number, and than want to resign. The natural thing you do is to press 'c' - but what happens: the last digit of the currently viewed number is deleted and the phone asks you to connect with this shortened number. I think it's really DUMB!!!! There are more stupid things like this. I study Computer Science and i think such software would be good for a student as an excercise, but not for a real phone - sometimes i try hard to hold my nerves because i want to throw this SHIT away. And the designer of Motorola's interface i would smash with an axe. Have a nice day. PS:Sorry for sometimes bad grammar, but you know... (do Rodakw: czekam na maile jak ktoś ma podobne odczucia )

  • merge mai ceva?

  • I recently recieved the Motorola V2288 in black. I got the the prepaid version as a a gift and ive been trying to download ringtones. Ive searched everywhere but i cant find any in the USA. Could you please help me by telling me sites which offer free ringtones or cheap ones. I would really like this. I like the phone alot its cute and small.

  • The Motorola V2288 is ok, but the service is terrible. I lost my stereo headset and for several weeks I'm trying to get me e newe one: I can't find a shop where they are available!!

  • Motorola's new door stopper. Also can be used as a weapon to throw at somebody's head? has also been used as a brick in house building and this list would go on. shit handset.

  • The only good thing in this phone is its radio. But after two months in use, the radio broke down and little by little you could no longer hear the sound. It's also has very small text and it doesn't have a sms receive messages phone book ID so when you receive a text message, you still have to find it in your phonebook. I think, the Timeport is a better one or better yet look for a phone that has big screen and text.

  • I got this phone in Jan 2001. I the features r great and the quality of the phones calls r good. But the battery life is rubbish I charged it up for 16 hours when i got this, just like it said in the manuel. I took the charger out and plugged it in when it said fully charged for the 16 hours. I then started to use the phone, phoned a few ppl and the battery when down from fully charged to one bar after only making about 10mins worth of phone calls!! The next day it was low battery and i charged it up again, replugging in the charge, turning the batterys around and so. But still the same results of the battery lasting two days at most, sometimes only one day after even if i never used it! So i sold it to my mother! SHe still has it now and its only last a day still. Has anyone else had this problem? Ps My g/f had one and the same happened.

  • Recently i have bought Motorola V2288, but there is no games on it, my question is there realy has games as it features or not

  • it's the nicest phone on t he earth

  • I heard u can get ringtones for this mobile but i can't find any!! The ringtones are really boring can u help?

  • V2288 has a composer for ringtones. You could access this by Phone Setup menu and choose Edit Music Tone. There is a default music but you could compose and save your own and if you delete what you have composed it will just return to its default. You could find a wide variety of ringtones in www.gsmarena.com Try sweet child of mine!

  • An absoluty brilliant little phone which does have games on it and make your own ringtone buy this phone now

  • I want to complain. My BTCellnet V2288 has 3 games,an alarm clock, clock and calculater

  • HI! I'd like to tell all people out here even thinking about buying this phone...DON'T! It is sucha piece of ****. I have one and it is really bad. I'd continue but i'd be wasting my time talking about such a shitty thing
