hey ppl! well i got this phone 6 moths ago and it wouldnt charge! so they took it back to china and see why wouldnt it charge, there was nothing so they brought it back and it turned out that in china they use 220w chargers and in here is only 110w, so i have to take out the battery and charge it with the other thing, and hey, question, does it have radio? or something???anything entertaining?? and where do i find the voice recorder???does it even have that feature?

The Phone is getting old... Time for a RAZR V3x or a SLVR L7 all you Motorola fans! I was looking forward for the E1120 to come out on the market, but it's such a pitty that they cancelled it :(! But overall, I was pleased of my V878 while i had it for two years and I've had no problems with it whatsoever.

To all the people who were questioning if thet can download MP3 Ringtones on the Motorola V878 the ansewer is "NO" thsi phone does not support MP3 ringontes I once tried to record a song from the radio with the Voice Recorder and tried to save it as a RINGTONE but there was no function to do so.... But besides that its a good litte unit no problems so far but I've had it for 2 years and just getting a bit bored of it, i think time for a phone update lol...

Hi there, I just got a v878 from e-bay and was wondering if you could help me. I cannot hear anything when i make or answer calls. The phone rings, but once I answer i can't hear a thing. There is 'headset' marked down on the menu page and was thinking it was maybe related to that. I have spent hours trying to figure it out and reading the menu, with no luck. Can you please help me. For me, I dropped it a few times then after a while...the whole screen went all white and blanked out on me. The phone still works but I cannot see anything that happens. :(

for picture id,i could NEVER figure it out,i live in Maryland and also purhased it off ebay,it does work in the US to whoever said it couldnt b/c of Volt differences.and as for mp3 ringtones,never could transfer them over and i had the usb cable for it,i just recommend using your phones internet to go to 3gforfree.com free ringtones went directly to my phones ringtone section.

Hey sorry about that my computer messed up well anyway the phone is nice and all i got it on ebay that was kinda my mistake it worked only thing it said was low battery so i shut if off , but i kinda take a little long to get on so maybe 3-4 days after i checked the phone and it did even do on i don't know if it is the battery since it was working fine can anyone help and tell me if they think i should get a new one and also what colo does the charger show? red and green or just green

I just bought this phone a couple days ago. I live in Taiwan and here it works great. No problems so far. I feel bad for those of you who have to wait so long to get a phone repaired. Here in Taiwan, they fix a phone while you wait, ususally within 30 minutes. :)

Bought this phone in May 2004- First one would not charge was replaced with a new one within seven days. The new one has had problems in that the phone is dead and wont charge or switch on- this has happened three times- has been fixed twice by Motorola and now has happened again- each time it has to be fixed I am without phone for weeks! Quite disapointing - if this is a recurring problem- this phone should not have been sold.

I think I'm one of the veterans in using a v878 (I have mine since FEBRUARY 2004!!!). A few more months and it's gonna turn 2 years old. So far I've had no problems with it whatsoever (nothing I've read on this site has ever happened to my piece) and, as I've said before, I guess the first pieces that came out on the market were way better manufactured than the ones following. I've dropped my piece a lot of times really hard, I've spilled water on it, I even sat on it while it was open :))). It had a rough life with me, but it's still my champion hehe! I'm satisfied with the way it's functioning, but of course, it's a phone that is starting to get old in looks and features. But still, the good thing is that even after almost two years of usage, the battery life is exactly the same: 2 days and the night in between. Since I'm a Motorola fan, I'm looking forward for the E1120 to finally come out on the market though. That's gonna be my next phone for sure! That's about it. I'm sorry for the guys that had a hard time with their v878 pieces.

i used it for less than a month and the battery died. i couldn't charge or turn on the phone. motorola usa could not fix it because they don't have the battery on the inventory since it has not been launched in the US. if you are in the US... don't buy this phone!

I've had this phone for a year now and I totally love it! i've lost it once and i still bought the exact same one again... i think the reception works well as well as the battery life last just enough.. it's light, pretty, slim, everywhere i carry in the world people also love it. the keypad design is also really nice..

ʹve just read all your problems and let me tell you sth. This phone hasn�t been lunched officialy by Motorola in the Us. Actually it�s a phone for the asian market. The phones that are available have been brought from service providers or shops. Those phones have been manufactured for an asian network not for Cingular or T-Mobile. That�s why, sth it has problems with internet, sms and that stuff. It�s obvious that the warranty is not universal, so if you have any problem with the phone Motorola USA does not cover that. And this is not only for Motorola, in happens with almost all cellphones companies. So guys, before buying any type of phone, check if it has been lunched officialy (in the website).

I had this phone for 1 yr now, it was a nice looking phone but sometimes I find it a bit inconvenient w/out the bluetooth or IR. The reception was ok and the sms entry was not as intuitive as the SE T68 I used previously. Then it started having problems: 1) Both batteries used to last 3 days, but now they last only about 1 1/2 days, so I have to charge it everyday. 2) For some unknow reason it would miss some sms. 3) Finally both the external & internal screens died on me and went completely white. Now I can't even trade in the phone. Good thing I kept my SE T68 for bakcup. Don't think I'll buy another Moto...

I've had the Asian-version V878 for 8+ months now (since September '04). I've dropped it once, but it still works as well as before. The colors on the screen are bright and sharp. It is unfortunate that the camera's resolution is less than one megapixel, but I do like the twilight (night) mode and ability to change the white balance (depending on if you're in the sun or under flourescent or incandescent lighting). Sure, the battery drains quickly, but that's because of the brightness and colors. Also, its reception isn't the greatest, but hey, nobody does it better than Nokia! I gave it a 9 for Design, 8 for Features, and 7 for Performance. All-in-all, I do very much like the V878 and am glad that I spent the money to buy it (back on Sept. '04, it was $350, but I turned in my Nokia 8890 and another, much-older phone for a $150 total discount = only $200 out-of-pocket). In the future, I would like to get either the Nokia 6260 or 7270 to compare it with the V878. Hope that helps, and best wishes to you!! :)

I was planning on buying a Motorola V878 off of E-bay. Just to have an extra phone, But I am glad that I am reading the reviews before I purchased it. Right now at the momment I have a Motorola V551 I am very please with this phone. It does take pic, But not that great. Signal is very good depending where you are at. I am please With this phone. But I do think Motorola needs to refund the money back to customers that paid almost 300 dollars. Or Make the model a higher version and better features. With much luck to all of you guys. Hey People how are we all....Anyway I purchased the Motorola V878 in Melbourne Australia in May of 2004. The price of the handset when it was released in Australia was around the $800 mark. Well about the phone, well.... so far so good, Very small, light, looks great, I think its still one of the smallest, or probably the smallest camera/video camera phone out in the market, even to this very day. I dont know why all these people are complaining with the camera and the phone the V878's camera takes great pix. I have seen some Nokia, Samsung, LG, handsets which have shocking cameras and screen resolution. Oh yeah and another thing I have never had a problem with my screen, Very vibrant 65,000 colour screen! One down side to this phone is that the battery gets drained very quickly I have to recharge it almost every night, and another thing is that it only has 2 megbite of space which is not enough cause constantley I have to keep deleting pictures and video files in order to store more pictures and video's Other than that the V878 is a great little gadget...Cheers!

the phone might look good, but it's a piece of junk, connnection is extremely poor i have to weight like at least 10 secs to dial my call. and phone always break down on it... only good thing about the phone is that it never break on me when i accidently dropped a few time on the floor..

this phone isn't the best phone around. It has the same system as the motorola V690. You shouldn't get it. It may look hot, but trust me, im not the only one complaining that there are problems with the phone. I have never dropped my phone nor scratched it during my 8 month period time with it and now it suddenly won't turn on. Its not the battery's problem i know for a fact. Motorola needs to take more time to make some better models with better systems but the same style. Take my opinion for it. If not, hey im not your boss. Try it yourself. ( this phone does look good in a special edition white ) ( you can get exotics and import phones like this one from Flushing NY. Hope this helps

It's just a heap of junk. Motorola didn't take the time to design the casing/ribbon connector and also their main board well. It will keep happening since Motorola is not doing anything about it

Hi, I purchased a Motorola V 878 cell phone from a store named Digital One which is located at Queens, New York. I was recommended to send it abroad with the assurance that it would work fine. I tried to charge the battery and I don't what happened it seemed to me that it was completely out of order. I contacted the store and they said it's broke and won't work. I still couldn't figure out how it happened. Any suggestion will be deeply appreciated since I paid in full for the phone and never received any service from it since I purchased it. I love nokia phones. But i'm currently using V878. One of the few good phones motorola produced! Give some credits to the designer for its stylish design. Elegant and modern especially for ladies. Small enough for Levi's pockets. The camera is great but the video's screen is TOO small. SMSing shouldn't be a problem once you get used to it. I agree with Mihai! No java games compatible for this phone. They just won't work!!! Battery life is short. Can only for 2.5 day(maximum). Easy to use:User-Friendly. This phone is still surviving after numerous falls on the grounf and into the rubbish bin while i was trying to charge. 6 months... I'm proud of it!

Well guys... I think I'm one of the few lucky ones!!! I bought my V878 champion in FEBRUARY and so far nothing is wrong with it!!! I bought it from Aruba and it seems to me that the first pieces released on the market were way better than what's sold now. Thank God nothing happened to it and I hope nothing will from now on. I sure know I will take it easy on it after all I have read here(because I dropped it allready a few times really hard on the asfalt hehe!!). But no: absolutely no problem for me! Everything works perfectly and I'm pretty much pleased of what it has. I could have used the Bluetooth and a memory card slot though. And the price: ay ay ay!!!

i bought this phone in july, and everything was perfect until 2 moths ago. The phone went dead on me, i went to the dealer and bought a different battery,cuz they told me the battery was dead. As soon as i got home, the new battery went dead on me. So i bought it back to the dealer, and he told me he will get it repair for me. After a month, they gave me a new v878, but as soon as got home, the phone was dead again. SO once again, i went back there and told them about the problem. For some reason, the battery worked once i got there, cuz they used their charger. I loved this phone. BUT IT SUCKS!...Clearly, the battery is defective..i should have went w/ my first choice, and get the v600..Currently the v878 is working, but i am just waiting until it goes off on me again. argh!

just got another customer complaint that the screen died. you're lucky if turining off the unit or taking the battery out for a few minutes would solve the problem. the problem with this unit is something with the screen itself or the ribbon cable that connects the main unit to the screen or just plain defective main board.

to all the people saying the screen shuts off ... try taking the battery out for a bit (minimum i would say five minutes), let the phone just cool off and then put the battery back in ... it has worked for me and a few people i know.

the phone is so cheaply made and like all the people warned about it, my screen went blank. I took it to where I bought my phone and I was told that it is a defective unit and since it is over the stores warranty period and the phone is imported from Asia they told me there are no warranty on this phone. I was told I will have to pay for fixing the unit. I paid over $400 for this piece of junk and it never worked right from the begining. plagued with all sorts of intermittent problem with display, speaker, power going off for no reason. I really got RIPPED OFF! I WILL NEVER GET A MOTOROLA PHONE AS LONG AS I LIVE! "screen blanks out" meaning the damn screen quits working, not a screen saver! It's just a piece of shit phone full of defect. the hinge is loose and other parts are not fit properly. first time I've ever seen a phone with such a poor quality

"screen blanks out" i don't know if this is what you guys mean, but maybe you're talking about the screensaver. do you have it set to "power saving"? if so, change it to another screen saver so that it doesn't blank out.

yo my dad used this phone for over 3 months now and everything's so far so good. he never had any problems with the screen except that the hinges r a little tight. if the screen is turning blank then it's probably because the dealer sold u an old one or a fake one

liek the V300 and V180's this model seems to have the worst problem of all. screen banking and poor camera resolution. seems like the V878, V180, V300, etc. are all similar with major problem like the screen blanking out. If you bought this phone and if it's still working after 3 months your LUCKY! I doubt it will keep working for a year though... very poor manufacturing, cheaply made phone of the century! I feel sorry for all the people who purchased this phone. try to get a back-up phone before it breaks!

I'm work for a dealer for a cellular phone company and I'm really tired of people complaining and bringing back unlocked phones, unlocked phone do not carry a warranty and "all purchase are final, no return, refund or exchanges" People are angry that the phone doesn't even last one week and we cannot replace or refund! It's giving me a headache and so much complaint with hostile customers. I wish my boss would take this phone off our showcase.........

Suddenly the screen blanks out. There are so many problems with the battery, i faced one of the most in the first week itself. In the first week, automatically, my mobile turned off.., went to authorized dealer and he did something., and made it fine. After two more months, it started to turn off suddenly, while in call. It happened so many times. Recently, the external display got some problems., Anyways, It is the worst model i had ever seen.

i can say that i love this phone and have had it for a week almost... only thing i have with it right now is not going to be able to go online with att because mmode isnt loaded into the phone.. but im gettin taht all fixed tomorrow, you can just go back to whre you purchased it and then have them set it up.. they do have a english manual thats the link to you and you have to dl it becuase its a pdf file. also about the 24 hour clock thing... dont think there is anyways to change it cuz i asked the lady.. she said because its a import phone iono.. but anyways this phone is the best one i have so far...

Right the hinge, at first it's kind of stiff but after awhile it will get very loose. I don't know why phones made for the US market doesn't have the "click" to it, (when you open and close) like the Japanese phone. Japanese phones are mechanically and of course electronically made more precise than the cheap Asian model made for the US market.

I just purchased a v878 for $260.00 How much did you see it for cellman? I hope I didn't just buy a generic phone. The DUMMY MODEL at the store was a little stiff when I was opening...is the real one the same?

one more thing, the hinge part is cheaply made so many units have the "screen blanking out" problem..... It's a defective design I think. Feel sorry for the people who bought this and the V300 units with defective screen. I would return it if your unit is still under warranty! good luck!!!!!!!

This phone is just tooooooo expensive with only 65k screen and VGA camera. You can get a 262k screen with a 1megapixel camera phone for this price!!!!!! expensive expensive and it's really cheaply made expecially the hinge.

Go for the Sharp GX20 as it has a far better camera fitted in with lots of different flash colours. Also the v878 is very flimsy and creaky. But it has a very crisp external screen which is better than the sharp GX20, but the Sharp always wins on build quality and internal screen

This is a really good looking phone - sleek and light. The feature set is not bad as well. Now if only someone can tell me a bit more about the performance of the phone! Battery life doesn't look good on paper but I could be wrong. Also, does this phone use the latest intelligent I-Tap the other V series phones use (like V600/V500)? Thanks!

This phone is already out in singapore. Its not abd after trying it but I am still sticking to my Mitsubishi M720 for the fact that this phone has a lower screen resolution. For those who don't really care about the screen, this phone is great as the functions are great. Also this phone is Cheaper then Samsung E700. Unless you need a second colour screen, if not this is definitely more worth the money as E700 has too little attractive functions.

This phone is truely the smallest camera phone on the market. It's functions are not that outstanding, but enough to rock your world. The only problem I have with this phone is the poor connectivity and memory size, no infared, no bluetooth, only 2mb? This phone allows 30 sec video shooting with sound and it has a set of different frames for picture taking. the display is kind of small, but the quality is way better than average (almost identical to V600, but way worse than GX22)
