MWg Zinc II - User Reviews

  • Obscure phone, obscure company that made this phone

  • hi, i have managed to break a little plastic tab on my battery cover and now cant turn it on - where did you source a replacement?

  • Does anyone know if I have to manually turn on the speaker each time I want to phone someone and want to hear him? I find it odd that if I don't do this, the person that I'm calling can hear me but I can't hear him unless I turn the speaker on.

  • check the replacement battery from this site. The company based at Singapore.

  • Where can I buy spare battery for this Zinc II? Online? I am living in Malaysia. Thanks.

  • I have this phone for the last 6 months and it is an excellent phone. The only problem I have with it, I have lost the back battery cover and the phone will not work without it. I have ordered one but it will take 5 days to deliver. As I use it for work I can't survive 5 days....Anyone have any ideas on how to switch it on without the cover? Thanks

  • Great phone...im using it over a year, still hv no problem...but poor camera quality Y.Y

  • i founded here an it workss very welll it was like 75 dolares with shiping

  • Firstly i had second thoughts of this brand, but after reading some reviews(not on here) i though i will give it a Try, truely amazing everything works fine, fast & smooth, very well built Even though it only has 64MB ram it still runs Several Applications without Slowing down, Good Value Too as i Only Paid £60 for it Nearly New condition.

  • I like this phone because it has a complete keypad with a combination of best features. I could not find any better phone with this price and features with qwerty keyboard. only problem is that it has max speed of 3.6mbps instead of 7.2 mbps

  • try using the sim manager you can copy your contcts to the sim card

  • some people say 8gb i have it running a 4gb with no issue

  • My phone is out of audio sound after i install window 6.5, please help. Thank in advance =)

  • I have been playing with my phone part of the day but it seemed to be hot to hold. Anyone have this problem? Then by 6pm the battery went dead? What is draining the battery? Any ideas?

  • I sent my Zinc 11 back after just a few days! Battery life appalling, GPS didn't work, keyboard unusable, impossible to align screen so that scroll bars worked in both portrait and landscape modes. Replaced with a Nokia E71 which was only 20 more and is a much, much better phone.

  • Not sure, but for for future reference, I strongly advise to use a program called 'Sprite Backup'. Just google search for it. It's free for a 15 day trial. After the trial, you can still reuse any backups you have made.

  • I've had my zinc ii for 6 months. It is suddenly not responding to touch or to the keyboard. I now get the following message "Several incorrect passwords have been entered. To Continue password entry, enter a1b2c3." Problem is that the device is not responding to touch or the keyboard. Is there a way to back up my info prior to performing a hard reset?

  • This replaced my Eten Glofiish M800 which after a week went haywire. Anyway, the Zinc II is a very stable handset. Although it has no VGA screen and only 64 mb of RAM, it is very worthy of the price tag of 199. I've had some real good use from it for about two weeks now and not experienced any major issues. Make sure you get the final update from expansys.com

  • Just after 2 months of normal use I find that my Zinc II has a cracked screen: Expansys asks me to pay 200-350 Euros to have it replaced...almost the cost of a new Zinc II! I can't find anyone who would just sell me a new LCD: Does anyone have any idea where I could get this? Thanks

  • Really it's very nice phone with all modern features

  • does anyone know the max capacity i can put on the microsd slot? will it work with a 16gb microsd card?

  • had this for a month now. this phone is rubbish. takes ages to respond to stylus. only 64mb ram???????? going to swap out for htc touch pro. cant beleive i paid for this

  • for Andrew free SPB Mobile Shell 2

  • You have to buy it. You can try checking out at forums.

  • Try doing a hard reset without the memory card inserted. Press and hold onto the record button and soft reset button until the while bars stop moving

  • does anyone know where i can download a FREE full version of the spb mobile shell ?...all i'm getting is the trial version

  • My phone keeps telling me system storage card has been detected when i didn't even remove it. Can this be corrected?

  • To solve the password problem, simply do a firmware upgrade. The latest version is 2EUU.1033.Zinc II VER 010 WWE 230 0825. You can download it at It is found right at the bottom of the page. I got to know about this problem before buying this. So I did a firmware upgrade straight out of the box and the password problem did not pester me at all.:)

  • Currently you are not able to save contacts data to the memory card.:)

  • Just a query for those using the Zinc II: Could someone tell me if one could save the Contacts data to the SD card rather than the mobile's own memory? Thank you.

  • The system password has also been my problem: What a scare that I had locked the phone: The accompanying booklet does not explain how to do a correct hard reset: My teenage son found the correct way off the Expansy forum - Thank goodness. The SD card not having a cover is also a worry: What if 4GB of data pop out of your phone if it accidently dropped only to disappear in oblivion?! I just put on a piece of tape just in case! The QWERTY keyboard is not as bad as some reviews make it out to be: You won't write an essay with it but it's very good for short notes and sms's. Overall, considering the halfing of the price form 400 to 200 Sterling it probably beats all the cpmpetition for value for money.

  • Ok,like I say on my previous post I'm back regarding the battery. My battery last 3 days with some wifi, sms, solitaire(game),contacts editing, listen to some mp3.All this with no shutdown for 3 days. Charging normally took me around 3 hours (off mode) I hope this is good news and wish to hear from others here. So far,no errors/problems yet.Better be that way :) I'm satisfied with the performance for now.

  • Just a rebaged E-ten M750 but sure as good as the original!

  • My first pda (so call).Just bought mine 2 days ago. Have been a Sony user for awhile but this one is my first. So far,I've seen no problems except for the system password.Need to do a hard reset for this.I suggest not to use this feature for now until new firmware release. The speaker is great and quite loud. The sound is very pleasing not outstanding but it's alright. Wireless works well and I've seen some videos from you tube. Not that laggy and resolution is ok. Now,I'm monitoring the battery and see if it's according to specs. Will update later....

  • I'm not familiar with how phones work overall, I was wondering how it works, When its unlocked, you just put the Sim in, and depending on your Sim, you'll have access to internet connection and such? It looks really nice and affordable and I was thinking about getting it. Thank you =)

  • Thanks to all that answered my question.. so this brand is from New Zealandand it has a office at Singapore and now is going to recplace o2 mobiles.... good... It seems that can be a competitive brand like Htc... i thought this was a china brand because of the name... i was wrong...:) Let's see what this brand can produce..

  • Just a little bit of RAM would hav made it as beautiful as HTC Touch Pro. I am a htc user. But still well done MWg

  • This brand is 100% made in new zealand its new zealands 1st mobile phone manufacturer and i think they are doing a top notch job.....

  • MWg has a office in Singapore. MWg peoples are the same peoples who are in to o2 in Asia. MWg has taken all the asian rights of o2 mobiles. now o2 mobiles comes with the brand name of MWg.

  • Hi There MWg stands for Mobile & Wireless Group. They are based in Singapore. Actually the company used to be operating under O2 Asia and marketed O2 devices in Asia. However, after the withdrawal of O2 in Asia, MWg took over the operations and market devices under the MWg brand. More information of MWg can be found here: www.mwg.com

  • Very good design... nice display.... vveru good features... camera is not the baest but this is not a camera phone so it's ok ..... but only one question to everybody, from where is this brand i have never seen before in gsm arena or in my life?? please somebody answers me.. i'm from america and i haven't seen this...

  • Just got the Zinc II recently as I was looking for a Qwerty keyboard device that is great for messaging, yet not too bulky to fit into my pocket... I am pretty attracted to the design of the device, which is slim comparing against other Qwerty keypad PDA phones. The rubberized feel is welcomed as it does not get smudged with fingerprints easily. The Qwerty keyboard is quite attractive sleek and reminds me of the keypads on the RAZR phones. But I will prefer it to be a bit more tactile. As for performance, this is one of the few PDA phones that I have used that is stable. I have no issues with battery life as it did last me for around 1.5 days in a single charge with some ussage for emails, surfing with WiFi and the usual calls and sms. Well, the main issue I have was the camera... 2 Mega Pixel is not hi res enough compared to the other models in the market. If you are looking for a powerful and reliable device that comes with sleek form factor and QWERTY keypad, the Zinc II is well worth your consideration.

  • beautiful.. nice business assist..
