The best phone I have ever had! Bought it in 2010 and still functioning wonderfully. Talking about 1,5 h per day, charging every 5-6 days days. Now the (original, never replaced) battery level indication is not accurate and needs charging every 3 days. If someone didn't ever need a pc/smartphone on his hand, was the best phone the Finnish Nokia ever made! I am deeply sorry that I can' t buy an equal new phone these days...

After almost 8 years of use and abuse the bezel starts to come off from one edge but all in all it's the best phone I've ever had. Now thinking of getting one of those almost-rugged dual-sims but at the moment there is nothing on the market that will seriously draw my attention.

I have used my Nokia 3720 for the last 7 years and had no problems with it - never lagged, never behaved wierdly, after all this time the battery still lasts at least 2 days from full charge. It still works well and I only now bought my first smartphone because everyone around me expects me to be online and use instant messaging apps instead of SMS.

Absolutely magnificent phone. My phone has been in water, under water, in soaking jacket pocket, submerged in just poured concrete, covered with sand dust, fallen of table and from pocket to ground/floor many many times, hours in rain during motorcycle trips, in the heat of sauna and everywhere you can imagine phone can accidentally end. All it ever needs is wash up and back to business. Had it for 7 years now. No fancy applications but the main purpose to receive and make phone calls has never failed. Best mobile phone ever. I hope it lasts for long time in the future because there is nothing as durable and reliable to replace it with.

I dropped this phone in autumn accidentally on the rainwater gutter and it stuck on there... After 6 months it somehow miraculously fallen out and i found phone on my yards.After little clean out procedures,it worked like charm and working so far.

Still using it now since 2009 (always ON 24hrs a day). ALL rubberized parts are now nonexistent (beyond its service life) exposing its internal components. The adhesive that holds the silvery metal frame has loosen its grip and for years i have been using the phone without it. Its original battery is practically good only up to 2 years use but still quiet usable. How i wish there is a replacement at least for its rubber frame to protect especially the bottom ports and volume keys and also the same material for its battery cover. Everything else of the 3720c is the "good enough" specs from a phone for me- a bit short of being perfect.

can be used as a hammer to nail nails, this phone can take just about any fall on floor or liquid. had this for 4 years?? and never ran into a single problem! sound quality is great, can play AAC tested up to 500 bits AAC veeeery good playback. the only and only downside would be the audio jack, 2.5mm as it is older usage, the older 2.5mm earbuds cost quite a bit more than the normal 3.5 usage nowdays. phone keeps on easy whole week if you dont use every 5 minutes duh.. has great performance java plugin that can play just about any phone javabuilt game. i give the phone full poins 5 stars!

Solid and good phone. I used it for about 5 years. Never had any problems. Sound quality was good. Battery was still in good shape. Dropped it countless times on the floor, in water, ..., never had a problem. Well, it is not washing machine resistent. Regardless of that, I would buy it again.

My opinion : i will not buy this phone because it is not light weight, no xpress browser and costly. Almost all Nokia feature phones are solid build even drop it in water ! ( just remove the battery and blow with electric fan for few hours). One more point: the latest series of Nokia low end phone supports dual sim card , multi- lingual, Whatsapp, Viber, Line,email, fast internet even it runs on 2G, long last battery and affordable price : it is good to be secondary phone at the present because nowsaday many people use two or three phones ( Tablet, Smart and basic phone). For basic phone : many people in my country prefere to use Nokia phone. . .because of its durability ( eg: nokia 1280) , easy to use and reasonable price.

This phone has been a real pleasure to own and use. Admittedly, my phone needs aren't very demanding: I just need to be able to call people, send SMS, with very occasional internet surfing, take a photo when I'm bored (serviceable 2mb camera). It ticks all those boxes just fine, though the latter is rather outdated. Its main selling point was that it was durable. Too often, I've laughed in the faces of people whose smartphones sport a nice fat crack on the screen. I wanted to have a phone that I could drop with no issues. In that department, the 3720 has served well... though only recently, after a few years of ownership, I've slightly cracked the screen after dropping it onto a jagged, rocky surface. The second selling point is the battery life. 1050 mAh? All I know is that it takes days before I need to charge it up again. I will state that I'm not on the phone 24/7 so that definitely helps. I'm only thinking of upgrading to a new phone, because of the 2G network on the Nokia. It's simply not practicable for getting info off the web, unless you're patient, and can handle reading off such a tiny screen. Would recommend to anyone who needs a durable phone, and has only basic needs.

No, you can only plug it into an electrical socket. There is just a tiny hole to plug the cord into the phone.

a rough and tough mob but i handled it w care all the time just like other cellphones must have to b treated...dont try to INTENTIONALLY drown it in water or beer, throw it so hard in cement floor, crash it into ur cars front and back wheel or hammer it just to test if its indeed that rough n tough...only a fool will intentionally do it w his/her own phone...this phone is made that way for extra protection for accidental situations...i got one and im the one that protects it...cheers!!!

Samsung B2100 has a design fault. It only has one button to lock the keypad. I am always knocking mine it switches off or makes calls from my phone book

Guess you were unlucky, but this is worth commenting. This phone's achilles heel is the battery lid, which must be fitted tightly with not too much dirt in between. My phone has taken quite a beating after a year of heavy usage and god knows how many drops onto hard surfaces, but still no problem to flush it with water under the tap.

I used this mode for 5 months 1 year ago, but in one rainy day, the phone happened to be just a phone not different from other (rain get into the phone and killed it 149 euro lost), but then use the Sonim Force but was disappointed because its poor and stupid software.Today I use Samsung XCOVER 271, for 79 euro it's really waterproof and incredible battery, 3 days with 2 emails on all the time, one hour calls and at least 8 hours listening to music through Bluetooth headphones at work,I have to say that Nokia should be thinking of building a new, modern and stable Nokia Xcover cool.

I think many people interest this kind of fone (shock, dust and water jet resistant) but it should be used with 2 sim card. . sorry its just my opinion ! because now people have 1 or 2 phones already, they really dont want to carry many phones at the same time.

One of the slowest responding phones I have ever tested... The preloaded bookmarks cannot be deleted and are in the way... The EDGE has been de-rated to a silly... The back cover not reliable enough... Otherwise not too bad...

as soon as i brought it home, i filled a glass of water and i immersed it completely under water showing off to my family. in seconds it switched itself off (drowned). it took me about half an hour to dry it using a hairdryer. since then(1.5 years) the phone is perfect. misleading underwater video clips in utube.

Hey ... it says "water jets" resistant not "deep into the ocean resistant". Don't take it badly but it's so foolish to sink an electronic device into the sea or bucket of water to check if it's "water resistant".

Dude, I don't know about the 3720, but I have B2100 for 1,5 years now and I'm pretty satisfied with it! + I talk in the shower + I have thrown it in snow and it didn't stop playing music! + I have dropped it so many times.. and it's just fine! + It's standby time is great- it lasts for more than 4 days with moderate usage + Its camera is quite decent for 1,3 mpx + The loudspeaker is great and makes very qualuty sound (it even produces a bit of bass! ) + its torch light is the best I have ever seen, which is produced by phone! It's awfully bright!! - its display is not bright under direct sunlight - the screen resolution is a bit inadequate - when talking, the sound is not so clear - it feels a bit heavy when in pocket

Hello , guys! I really want to say that this is phone is super great. I bought it 2 months ago and all i want to say that it is superb! What are the pluses? + Durability (Shock Resistant) - Everything is great about this + Sound (I love the sound, i hear it no matter what) + J2ME (I love it, very very much, different applications work well) + Battery life (oh well, 1050 mAh, i use sometimes a lot the j2me apps and it works for 8 hours) I think this means that it works as like calling. I dunno, maybe i'll make some tests. + Design (Great yellow stuff and how the battery back is locked , oh yeah baby) I love this phone.

great phone! i have this phone for 6months now. i can connect to internet. long battery life. i have dropped it several times still functioning properly. great reception. music quality is great using stereo headphones (phone is mono speaker). applications and games easy to find and install. very good camera quality because it process the image to be more sharper. im very much satisfied! if you are looking for a phone with basic functionalities and sturdy, this one is a best choice!

i got mine and tested with water immersing. but it cannot withstand actually. today find that the button reacts incorrectly. earpieces speaker volume drops significantly after immerse. DO not put it into the water. if just washing under the tap, it's ok. but you need to use use thumb to press the earpieces speaker so that no water can leaks enter it.

Hi, Simple, it's not a 3G handset and therefore since it is merely a 2G handset and connecting or trying to connect at Dial-Up speeds or even much slower (had a 2G handset before) and also there will be lagging as well or if this does not help you, make sure close any other applications you may have running or worst case check with Nokia about either updating the handset software and or complete flush of current software and then re-installing new firmware from scratch. I really like this phone after using it for a couple of months. The only thing Im really missing is a built-in FM-antenna. Dont understand why one would add radio on a phone like this, then discourage radiolistening by a 2.5mm contact behind a water-restitant cumbersome-to-open protective cover. I say keep the protective cover, but get rid of the need for external antenna-cabel. It can be done - look at Nokia X2.

i got this phone a month ago and i really like it... -purely water resistant, can go anywhere, i can even call and text under the rain... you can even wash it. -long batery like, if fully charge it can go 4 to 5 days. -great display and camera, i tried taking pictures under water and its great... -keypad is smooth. -and really has a strong body... i highly recommend this to people who likes outdoors and adventure... and to people in tropical areas which rains a lot...

you can buy samsung xplorer/xtreme(B2100)or xcover 271(B2710).this phones are really water proof until 1meter deep in 30minutes.

IP 54 is just certificate,nokia at the time just has 3720c with IP54,it means that phone is dust,shock,n water resistant .e72 doesnt have that certificate,if you need outdoor phone you can choose 3720c,dont worry to throw it,this phone actually is prepared to handle it.

Radio reception is poor.The phone scores 5.5/10 if you want numbers.If you need an outdoor mobile look elsewhere.Maybe Samsung E2370 with his sleek external antenna.And 2000mA battery.

Be aware of the fact that Nokia 3720 has a bad radio reception!It was tested with professional gear and the result was poor!Other technical aspects are above the average and the call quality is very good.So-in call quality about 9(nine),but reception about 6(six).In remote areas you'll be unreachable.

some say that it's cost is between 120-150 Euros!That means,,, in Indian currency,,, it's between 7200-9000. How can it be so high with just 2.2screene, 2MP and ordianary S40 platform!!!Nokia has some great mobiles offering between 5000-6500. Since I live in a remote village, I can't know it's cost. Hai Tom,,, I Think you are a novice in using Nokia devices! (Sorry if my guess is wrong) Ok lets come to the point. While typing a msg PRESS # to change the alpha mode. You shall find a change in alpha mode at the top of the msg space.Go on pressing the # key until you come across "2 horizontal lines, followed by a symbol of a pecil and Abc" That's it. T9 dictionary is on. It shall predict the words you type. All the best...

Hai,,, Alexa,,, If you need COPY & PAST option, go for S60 mobiles in NOKIA... S60 mobiles are more interesting than S40 mobiles. I used Nokia 1108, 6600, N70 and now, I have been using N73 for the past two and a half year. But still my N73 gives me a lot of satisfaction. All the best. I LOVE NOKIA...

Hai Val,,, You say that the calculator in your mobile was vanished. Nothing to worry. I too once faced the same problem with my Nokia6233. It happens so when you receive untrusted files from another device through Bluetooth. Then I got the FIRMWARE reinstalled at a Nokia Care at a free of cost as I had the warranty then. I know that you still have the warranty. So do the same. All the best. I LOVE NOKIA.

Hai Val,,, You say that the calculator vanished in your mobile. It so happens sometimes. I once faced this problem with my Nokia6233. I went to the nearest Nokia care and reported. They took around one hour and returned it. I found the calculator again in my mobile. When I asked them the reason, he told me that it so happened due to some software problem of virus problem and they had reinstalled the FIRMWARE. That's it. The problem was solved. I didn't face the problem later. I know that you still have the warrenty on your mobile. So please visit a Nokia Care and get the FIRMWARE reinstalled. All the best. I LOVE NOKIA.

TERRIBLE RECEPTION: Do NOT buy this if you need reliable reception. I had it for two weeks and couldn't pick up any networks in my home, whilst my old nokia phone and my fiancee's phone had 2-4 bars. I love that they made a really sturdy phone, but I think they got carried away and buried the antenna too deep in there somewhere. Other than that it's a nice phone, and if it hadn't been for the fact that I couldnt make or receive calls on it (which was kind of the reason I bought it) I would have been very pleased with it.

Mainly because its a 2G phone with a relatively small screen. "2.is the internet of this phone fast.?" Its fast on 2G-adjusted mobile-sites only (10-50 Kbyte per webpage). Its a 2G phone - what do you expect? Miracles? ;-) "3.will this phone not get damage if it gets wet or accidentaly drop ..." This model is much more resistant to moist and rain then average - that what counts. Its also somewhat more shock-protected - but you can buy silicon-skin for popular standard-phones.

hello everyone...just a friendly reminder: the nokia warranty specifically mentioned not to soak unit in water because it is only water-resist (not water proof). please be warned because nokia will not accept returns outside the warranty conditions. on the other hand, i really like this unit...nice feel....nice design...nice size...good gallery and file management. the only bad thing i can say is the low shared memory (20 mb) and the phone package should have included the special sized usb cable.

bought this 2 weeks ago and all I can say is it does what the manual says.its splash proof/water resist so dont submerge it in water. its a great "basics" phone. dropped mine once already and didnt have any issues. definitely the most elegant "rugged" phone in the market today.

fair point. my concern/question regarding the IP54 certification and the quality of the manufacturing (Hungary vs. Finland) was primarily related to comments that actually contradicted Nokia's own promotion of the phone's water-resistance. isn't it false advertising when their promo-videos clearly show the phone as capable of being submerged under water for 5 seconds (and still function properly)? i'm considering buying it for its durability, but now i'm thinking whether it's simply "fancy advertising" and nothing more. *and for the record, i'm not intending to wash the phone at ever occasion - it's just that the Nokia advertising pales in comparision with the realities discussed by other people here.

I bought the phone after I saw a video in youtube showing the phone was submerged in a glass of water and still works just fine. I did just the same after having the phone for about half and hour and ended with a bad result. The phone's dead and I felt like a complete idiot. Luckily, I managed to trade the phone with another of the same model within the exact place where i bought it and decided to be stupid once again by giving the phone another water test under heavy rain, and water splash. Voila! the phone still work just fine to date. So please note that should any of you ever intend to idiotically submerge the phone under water please be advised to protect the phone with either snorkels, or swimming goggle at the least. I'm not keen with camera nor do camera keen on taking my pictures, but I can tell the camera in the 3720 is much worst compared to my Nokia E51 having the exact megapixel (2MP or so claimed). I have several shock proof and water-splash proof Siemens previously and I fell in love these sort of phones immediately, unfortunately they're not steal-proof. sigh! So when I bought this phone I was searching for something to reminisce me to my Siemens, a simple, rugged phone which will survive water splash and am not demanding any other abilities and that's exactly what the 3720 classic has to offer. Aside of the problem I had with the previous phone, I haven't encounter any significant problem till now. I'm not treating the phone gently although I'm not using the phone as sledgehammer as well. For any of you techno geek demanding 3.5G or such I bet this phone shall remind you of the time where people uses mobile phones to kill Dinosaurs, and internet is for alien.

I'm very disapointed. The weak point of this phone is the display...Now this is the second time it breaks within 1 month. The display to close to the case. It was in my pocket while I was working under the machines and it cracked for the 4-th time... Don't get me wrong, my nokia 6233, 1100, 3110 and 5110 never ever had this kind of problem without being advertised as being a tough phone! It's a very fragile phone.

There are several reviews that pretty much show this phone exceeds IP54 certifications in practice such as total submersion in water (IP54 is limited to "splashing"). And my 3110 was assembled in Hungary and works fine.

I bought this phone last March 16, 2010. The problem with this unit is the video recorder, its very blurred and has large pixels when playing the recorded video, compared to the other phones that has 2 megapixel. Most phones with 1.3mp and 2.0mp have clear videos unlike this one. The camera has 2mp but every time you take a photo, the image taken converts from .nrw file to jpeg file for about 5 seconds. You can see that in the gallery after taking a photo. I tried to return and replace the unit but the company did not accept. Buying this phone is just a waste of money. I recommend not to buy this phone. Most nokia phones are defective so try other brands. I hate NOKIA for selling this kind of phone! My SE K660i is better than this. Before you buy this phone, check the video first and you will see the difference.

I bought it two days ago, it froze yesterday so I had to remove the battery to get it started again, and today, while texting, the lights on the keypad went on and off... terrible! I'm taking it back today. It must be something with the new software, cause 2 weeks ago I bought 3710 fold, and it froze after 2 days, too!! After having replaced that one with a new one, it froze again, so I asked for a refund and got it. Thought it was something about the fold thing, and decided to buy this one. A big mistake. I'm extremely disappointed with Nokia phones, since this isn't an exception, but a rule, as it seems. It turns out that the oldish 6070, which I've had for 3.5 years, works better than any other new piece of technology, cause it hasn't let me down since I bought it. Nokia 3710, 5310, 3120 classic, now 3720 classic... all with some kind of (obviously) software problems within the first week of purchase. And they are not phones which cost a few bucks, although this wouldn't have been an excuse, either!

This card takes my 16GB microSD!! Hurra!! And the quality of camera and music player are much better than I expected. Through my Sony EX500 earphones, this mobile is much louder than others of better quality such as N86 or X6. Pity is the 2.5 jack. But an adapter does the job. I am gonna have fun with this mobile. :))

Dont buy this phone if you have an active life and you hope it can keep up with you. I dont know if it is shock rezistant or dust rezistant but i can do know it's not splash rezistant because i dropt it in my glass accidentley for 2-3 seconds and now it's giveing me software errors. Nice, but why couldn't they throw in GPS?! I'm a cyclist (among running, speed skating and windsurfing) and I am eager for a phone that can survive my activities, is small so that it is easy to carry, can play some music meanwhile, �nd gets me from A to B (on the bike and of the bike). GPS is also great as a sports tracker, speed, distance, laptimes, etc. I've had a nokia 5100 for 6 years or so. And loving it (except for the buttons). But in a 6 year period, I would expect some more progress from Nokia, for to be honest, this phone is not all that different from the 5100. Sure, it's a bit smaller, it plays music and it has a camera, but if that's all..... sorry, but I'm kind of disappointed... In my opinion the phone has a few more flaws on top of those summarized in the review: - No GPS! - 2.5 mm headphone jack: really should be 3.5!! - Wrong opening in the rubber cap: it's not very handy to have the cap open when using the phone, when charging however, it doesn't matter. So far my view on the topic, let's hope the future brings more....

I had this phone for a week. It's not a waterproof phone as i expect . He fall in the water for 1 minute. He worked great ..during 2 days ( with water behind the screen glass.. ) Then the backlight stop working... ( i can notice than all control still working , and mic too ) ! ) But it's a choc resistant phone.. he's not frightened by falling over the ground The speaker is realy louder than i expect, the quality is not really great . But acceptable. The battery life is not amazing ... 2 days( sending 30 sms /day , listen music on speaker 30 min day..) the flashlight can be used as a torch( The torch light really great.. ) The camera is not great.. ( in particular in the dark ) It's a s40 based with all of his feature.. one thing i don't like : Can't do anything else during a bluetooth transfer . And, when you type a new word in dictonnary , he doesn't reminds the Capital letter (ex : "xD" , he will type xd )(in T9 mode ) Conclusion : the - - not water resistant /proof - Photo - the typing is not .. comfortable for my point of view - nice style for a " Rugged phone" - Battery life(450 in theory .. 2 days in reality ) -camera the + - Choc resistant - loud speaker - flashlight can used as Torch

The Nokia 5140 was extremely rugged. It could survive being underwater for short periods as well as impact from falling or being thrown. It was ideal for someone who works outdoors or on construction sites. Most other phones are so flimsy. I hope this one can match the durability of the 5140. My 5140 lasted 4 years of rough handling before it eventually broke.

This phone is a some kind of a downgrade from 5500. It supports technology from 2007.I really dont like SE phones - it s*cks.But C702 is much better then 3720, and the price is similar. NOKIA why are u f#*ked up this phone???WHAT IS THIS CAMERA - 2MP with video recording of 144 x 176 - my old 6630 had it,triband outdoor phone-just beautiful.If the price is around 100eu i will take my words back,but 150-160eu(after taxes) is way too much for features,that have 3720.

At first I thought "Way to go, a no-nonsense phone made to last", almost ready to buy as soon as it came out. BUT, after checking the lack of ONE only feature, I have decided this is no my next phone, and no, that feature is not a better camera or 3G, nor is it a 3.5mm audio jack, no, no, no, what was a deal-breaker for me was the fact that this is TRIBAND, if it is supposed to be an outdoor phone, why not make it QUADBAND so that it actually gets proper signal strenght in and outdoors, makes absolutely no sense, which is why I decided to pass on this phone, because nowadays no phone can get away without being QUADBAND. Thanks Nokia, but no thanks... guess I rather stick to my old, battered, 3120 classic.

It's me again. After my initial moan I am actually quite looking forward to this phone if it lives up to the camera standard of the recent Nokia 2 megapixel phone (e.g. 5130 expressmusic ) without autofocus. But according to the official Nokia 3720 specs the cam does actually have autofocus.

sorry this is insane ..like ?? below i have had 5140 5500 all of them and have been waiting for an upgrade on the 5500 for a LONG time now .. and yet while this has certain improvements to stay with a 2mp camera is insane .. the C702 is better than this .. nokia what are you doing!! all this time and now i have to get the sony .. do not people understand? IF you work outside you want 1) rain proof 2) rubber/drop proof 3) a decent phoning capability 4) a decent camera ( as otherwise you are carrying one too 5) internet connection .. everything else games/ music etc is fluff .. please is it THAT hard to put a decent camera in a rubber phone??????

Why does this only have a 2 megapixel camera and useless QCIF video? What the hell is going on Nokia? Might as well keep my 5500 because as far as I can see it is actually BETTER on paper than this new rubbish phone. I have been waiting years for a decent outdoor phone which takes good pictures and videos, and has the same features as the older 5140 (I.e thermometer, compass etc) This phone will not sell because without a decent camera there is no reason to buy it above the 5140, 5140i, 5500 or even the 5210. Very disappointed :(

They should rename this phone as the 5 series sports phone just like the Nokia 5500 sport phone. The phone should also include features like sports tracker, digital compass, built in FM antenna for listening to radio without the need of connecting headset to the phone for convenience and at least using a 3G technology for connectivity to improvise the phone.

C702 isn't a complete rugged phone. Try putting that thing under water or hitting it with a golf club and see if it'll endure all that stuff. If you're going to have a rugged, no nonsense phone, then I think you can do without 3g.

Built-in GPS cannibalize on batteritime like crazy. For pedestrian use in urban high-building using these maps without GPS is actually faster and more effective. And if you still prefer GPS-support you can still get it. I currently have maps-only on my Nokia 5220 Xpress music, and that works just fine.

The Look Appeal is great. The first Attraction... I suppose that keypad would be more finger friendly. Screen Size - OK, thats not a big issue for people who look for a good mobile, and never mind of the Touch Screen Era for mobiles. This type of mobile would still be in good shape in the market. Would attract more people. Saw the videos, the mobile is tough enough to withstand some sort of distructions and looks in same shape after some attempts. Its good to see such mobile that too from NOKIA, 'Hats Off'. Even thought am crazy on HTC Mobiles especially their Android Collections and Touch Pro 2, i would like to buy this mobile and keep(own) it for lifetime, also the HTC's Latest Android one - 'Hero' which i would use it for other purpose...
