  • Hi guys This is so good to write a comment on A390 after 4 years of heavy use. I purchased this 390 in Q1 of2013. At that time it was a great deal of budget phone at 7.5k Pune IN. Let's get into my journey with it. Initially Camera 5mp was good. Took lots of outdoor pics n were good. Video and audio quality was super. I recorded many videos which are still usuable. Coming to connectivity...it is a 3G phone so it gave me good access over the Internet. However, Telecom providers had some issues and I keep on changing every now and then. It has nothing to do with lenovo. So, about the display it is just fine considering the time of launch and period of smartphone competition in india. Voice calls on this phone is very clear. Battery was fine at the time of its 6 month old but started to drain fast after it reach 6 month of usuage. The Display had issue after 2 years and repaired it at authorised lenovo service centre at 2.5k A390 at Present March 2017. -Battery gets drained in 1 hour with gaming and voice calling activity. -3G connectivity is working fine till date -Camera is fine and working till date. -Voice calls quality reduced after display replay. -Heating issue till date from its purchase date. -Loudspeakers working fine till date. Nice to listen music -Back Panel one of its lock has been broken but holds it firmly till date. Finally I want to say that I spent 7.5+2.5=10k guys please buy a phone that can last at least 3-5 years without repairs. Be very smart in buying your next smartphone in India.

  • This phone is fast for 512 mb. The only thing I don't like is that I cannot see the screen when my screen is hit by sunlight outdoors. 1. Install TWRP 2. Backup your ROM in TWRP 3. Keep you ROM backup safe like in SD Card, External Drive, or in a Cloud Storage 4. Root your phone with or with framaroot I forgot which one worked for me 5.   • Wow.. it has been 2 years n still functioning.. Its my 1st android n really like it.. I can't believe its 512 mb ram.. Since even asphalt 8 is playable. Its hang free n efficient.. Rooted using framaroot n uninstalled boltwares.. Don't install fb latest app.. it will laggs the phone. Use browser or lite fb for Facebook logins.. Only I hate is the indoor photography. Its camera is worst on artificial lights. But pics really great on outside environment.. under the sun. I bought it for just 7300 INR 2 Years before.Now I m only facing battery swelling. My battery swells up after 2 years n I need to change it. Note; Its comes with android 4.0.4 and u will get an 9MB firmware update.. Don't update it! Its will hangs up the contacts and malfunctioning of Bluetooth. If update, reset phone to go back to older version

  • maybe there are a lot of apps installed on your phone maybe that is why it is not very responsive anymore. install unnecessary apps. you can also uninstall heavy apps with a lighweight alternative app like tinfoil for facebook and ilunascape for web browser

  • Root your phone. Backup your stock rom with twrp then flash your lenovo a390 with binguyen rom. It is the most efficient rom so far on my a390. Install Lenovo power center, hibernation manager and greenify. Remove bloatware and disable autostart of apps that does need autostarting. Kill persistent apps in the background that you do not always use. Or install auto memory manager and fast reboot pro

  • I had bought a Lenovo a390 handset On 12/March/ 2014. And from then onwards I have been facing problems with the product as well as it's accessories at regular intervals. 1) In just 12 days after the day of purchase the product started hanging and switching off automatically. I had contacted Lenovo service center for mobile phones and they managed to make it function again. That was the first time I had asked the service center personal to exchange my handset. All my data on phone was lost. 2) After 2 months it's USB cable stopped fitting in the charging slot of handset. I contacted the same service center and they gave me another USB cable which was barely fitting in even at that time.That cable too turned loose within one month of use. 3) somewhere around end of August to mid of September the mic Of handset stopped working. the handset was once again hanging and a set of vertical lines popped up on the screen. The service center consultant asked me to submit my phone and come after 2 days. After 3 rounds of going to and fro to the service center and dozen of calls I managed to get my phone back after a 10 days or so. The mic problem was solved and the vertical lines were removed too. This time I had made backup of the data but my phone contacts were lost. 4)on 13/ November/ 2014 exactly 8 months from the date of purchase once again my handset has started showing problems. The speaker is not working. I know within 1 week it will start hanging and once again I would have to sacrifice my personal phone data. on complaining no is even listening or replying to mails. Stupid phone, stupid service, stupid brand.

  • lenovo customer care is a third class and useless customer service. i just purchased my a 390 in jan'14 and it automatically shut down. the customer service described it as physically damaged and told me to pay heavy charges. so please people just go thru the reviews before purchasing lenovo. they dont give you proper service especially fortech computers in pune is a rude and undisciplined service center.i repent for buying lenovo. to hell with lenovo.

  • I've been using Lenovo A390 for over 5 months now. It's a reliable phone but it does hang sometimes. It survive a 5 foot drop (I was like WTF?). If you planned to buy this phone. You should atleast dowload a boostmaster to lessen the lag and a battery doctor (if needed). Overall i'm not a fan of the phone but it gets the job done for me.

  • Hi. it's easy.Go through your phone and download up to play store "market helper". It installs alone without you see. After that, make reestart on your mobile and can already download the whatsapp.

  • I have been using LENOVO A390 for more than two months. Its working fine. I am always connected to internet using WiFi and 3G (when outdoor) - internet works very smoothly like Gmail, hangout, skype (video chat is supported with back camera - could have been better if LENOVO A390 could have a fron camera) - I have attended conference call using skype phone bridge and my experience with this device is excellent, facebook, Evernote, maps, UC Browser and Youtube. I do not play games so can not comment about its performance when games are played. Its a good phone in this price range - I purchased it from flipkart in less than 6000/- INR. My overall experience is very good, you can get a samsung device with similar specifications but you have to pay an additional 4000/- INR - you may get an additional front camera but its worth saving 4000/- INR if you opt for this device.

  • he/she is right. actually the screen is too sensitive. usually a person has a tendency of using two thumbs while typing. if the idle thumb is near the screen, though not touching, the typing finger will take the nearby letter of the keyboard. the only way to get out of this is that while typing try to remain the other idle finger away.

  • I've been using this phone since december. It's not worth purchasing if u plan to load many apps. My phone lags a lot coz of them. I surmise it's due to the 512Mb ram. But, if you plan to load only limited apps then this phone is really good. It has overheating issues while using Wi-Fi, charging etc. Overall this phone is not recommended for apps(large number of apps).

  • for those who ask me how to change rom to kitkat 4.4 this is link . of course u need to root your phone first. remember, this is ROM not OS(Operating System). this rom more stable and saving battery life compare to stock rom in your phone. your phone will be smooth+awesome after this and not need to use other launcher from playstore. dont forget to swap your internal memory to external sd by modifying vold.fstab to play huge game such as MC4 and nfs most wanted. how? this is link :)

  • Got one A390 frm company lucky draw at this year. Not a bad low end budget phone after all, cld ve says much better thn my old galaxy s plus which cost 1k++. The only cons that i ve notice are the keyboard n touch screen sensitivity. The pros are having no problem to ve connect to Vpn unlimited internet at only one attempt. My S plus need to ve at least tries 4-5 attempt to ve get connected.

  • I've been using it for about 3 months now in KSA. So far so good for the price I paid. I think this A390 offers the best value in the market. Though there are some weak points, they sure can be bearable. Remember the price! If you want all the neaty-bitty features, you should go for other phones with more money. If your battery runs out quickly, try turning off WIFI or data feature to save up some power when not in use. This dual-core phone is good enough to play "Clash of Clans" game without any problem. I'm really enjoying it now. I'm pretty sure this is the Best Value Choice, especially for whom wants an affordable dual-core, dual-sim smartphone.

  • Good phone for it's low price. Battery life lasts 6-8 hours on average use(games, texting, calling, surfing over the wifi) About 4-5 hours when I keep mobile data on. Stock launcher isn't all that pretty, relaced it with sl.Can't move apps to sd so I recommend 16-32gb sd card to keep phone storage devoted to apps. Haven't had problems with ram (479mb) since I started using sl. (It helps keep ram usage down) most disappointing part is the camera, doesn't work well in low lighting. Pretty nice phone for my first smartphone. I'm a teen so low price helps.

  • This is my review after 3 months of using the A390 Bad points When you make a call 7 times out of 10 makes a strange digital sound and then cuts off. Typing, storage of new words does not work word prediction often comes up with weird predictions. This is obviously not tailored to the English language. Volume in calls is quite low even at maximum. Speaker sound is very tinny If you attach a pair of headphones, call quality extremeley poor bearly understandable. I've tried various headphones which work fine with other phones. Loud speaker quality very poor. Camera quality poor. I use my old phone for taking pictures where I need to be able to read handwriting, as it comes out blurry on the A390 Very slow to load screens, often have to wait a few seconds after clicking, the performance deteriorates further each month Wifi often drops Doesn't hold the network data connection. The bar states its connected, but it's not. You have to switch the phone off and on again, at least once a day to pick up the data connection again. Doesnt have a proper ear sensor, so if you're on a call and you cheek touches the screen it starts bleeping because buttons are being pressed. You can't tell yourself until the person on the other line tells you, then you have to manually hide the keyboard. Good points I thought the price was good when I bought it, but they've cut so many corners I regret buying it. Dual sim android, but there are many better dual sim android phones around now, and from proper phone manufacturers.Better to have two phones which work properly. I bought the phone in a high street reputable phone chain store in Indonesia, but the guarantee is not global, so I can't send it away in the UK.   • I went for this phone for the price the spec is good and the dual sim feature was key. I find it easily as compatible with my HTC with the exception of the camera. But I have to say when I want good pics, I use my camera not my phone, so not critical for me. All in all happy with this phone.

  • I bought this phone last week for my 6 y/o daughter's birthday next week. It costs about USD85 here in Malaysia with 6 months shop warranty. For manufacturer warranty you can add an additional USD35. Here are some of my opinions after testing it for a week: Touchscreen accuracy is low. It makes typing in portrait mode very frustrating. My daily phone is a 3.5 inch Nokia N8 and I can type quickly and accurately on it's default keyboard so that should tell you something. Touchscreen sometimes detect multitouch as a quick swipe between the 2 fingers in games like Cut The Rope and Fruit Ninja. Some videos (mostly Disney movies) that play flawlessly on my old 2010 N8 phone stutter on this phone. I guess I'll have to re-encode those videos. Battery life is poor. 1 hour of playing Subway Surfer eats up nearly 30% with screen at lowest brightness and mobile data off. But playing movies back to back it can last up to 5 hours on a full charge. It lasts longer idle: I left it at home one day and it still had 80% 12 hours later. Perhaps it's not fully optimized because there is some slight stuttering in Chrome and Opera Mini. Screen viewing angles are pretty poor, especially if viewed from the top. Speaker is surprisingly loud. Antenna signal strength is very good. Voice calls are clear on both sides of the conversation. Conclusion: It's the cheapest dual core Cortex A9 phone you can get from a well known manufacturer. The cons are minor and it should work well as a Whatsapp, simple gaming machine and movie player for my daughter.

  • Bought this unit (almost) a month back, the main reason was moving on to JB Android 4+ from 2.3.6. My experience, thus far, is favorable. No software hang-ups. The screen is decently sized at 4". Only two complaints. One - is for the misinfrmation. The product is adverised as 4GB, but the space reserved for apps (ROM) is 811mb and space available for user is 2.05GB. That's like less than 3GB. Also this is still my personal opinion, I used this unit for like 10 days I really hate to say that ... but I hated this phone so much.... it is just not functional The OS is just so crap ... you won't even know what is going on, it does really need to be much more refined. The ram is too small, I always need to close the running apps. The phone always gets shocked by the data running and mostly you have to wait until it frees some ram to even run the home screen. the notifications are really idiotic , I don't know if this is the android problem, but most of the time I wasn't even able to notice that I have a missed call or a text message. Still much better form the Samsung, Huawei and other manufactures crap they made as a budget phones, for me I tried many phones from samsung, Huawei, LG, HTC ... This one is defiantly better and much more competitor price-wise ....

(certain network will charge you $) you can turn it off 2 ways 1. press the bottom left button, select settings, and go to data usage. 2. on the home screen, hold and scroll down the top tab, the quick data button is the 4th from the left.

They said that the battery can last until 2days but from my experience, it can only last atleast half a day. However, you can try using camera apps downloaded from Google Play instead of exist camera app on this phone.   • Just bought this phone yesterday and I found myself quite satisfied. It's typical entry level Android phone so don't expect too high. The only problem I have found is the battery, it doesn't last long. After using it for almost 2 hours non stop I got notification that the battery is running out. Also, the camera and the sound doesn't meet my expectation.

  • You can not download in sd card on ICS. You have to upgrade to Jelly Bean I suppose. Many people are facing this problem. No application can solve this problem. I saw recently an ad of mobile with JB, mentioning transfer of file to sd card easily. Which means it is JB which can solve the problem. One suggestion you can write to lenovo about it. If you do so pl let us know what is their reply.

  • I'm encountering one major problem: While using Whatsapp, whenever people contacts send me pictures or videos, I'm able to view them or zoom them, but it only remains "viewable" when Whatsapp is on. Even though you click on "Download video" when somebody sends you video, you can play it once downloaded but only if your whatsapp is on. Similar with pictures. You can click it and view it full screen. But how to access it once you have downloaded it and you're not using Whatsapp?? in which folder it is saved?   • update: sorry the one at the near right of lenovo logo is the gravity sensor. battery last for 14 hours of minimal use(surfing the net, updating apps, music playback, alarm, reading e pubs)

  • well, I got my lenovo a390 phone before independence day, at first i am excited to see it's full capabilities. but a few days later there a little dis appointment(no front cam for skype app, the camera shutter can't be turned off even in silent mode- i guess it is to avoid capturing hidden shots in public places., the interface is good but not enough., the vibration alert during making a call has no option to turn it off, lastly the usb port audio on top portion of the phone- i prefer to put it on the bottom.) Now to the positive side, well it has a good camera, the battery is enough to make simple task,sleek body, 2 network support(dual-sim)customize-able interface, budget friendly.(the storage when we check it it is only 2 gb because the other space was occupied by the system, it is 2.05 gb user accessible. the proximity sensor if not mistaken is located near the lenovo logo in front, at first I thought it is a slot for front camera upgrade but when i looked unto it there a hard ware already installed. i update this review asap. enjoy your lenovo. because it is for those who do.

  • Its a nice phone but when used for games and charged it easily drains and get hot. Other than that is best performance, fast, no hang ups. You may want to try espier launcher app if u wish to have iphone theme that is free and good!

  • You can't move apps to sd card. Try to remove some apps first. I'm having the same problem. Phone(internal) memory is just around 3Gb.

  • If you're looking for a phone with an affordable price and can give good costumer value, i think this is the perfect phone to buy. My older brother bought me this phone for me last week and i really love it. Although i have to comment about the keyboard since i'm having a hard time texting maybe because my fingers are too big and aren't really meant to use qwerty keyboard. It's phone memory alone isn't quite too big for me but you can use up to 32gb (i think) memory card for this phone.

  • 1. It has smooth/fast paced interface, really good. The only bad thing is about the RAM. We bought this phone recently and when I opened it, the RAM was already NEARLY 300/512 mb. I removed apps that can be removed and it reduced to 286mb only. 2. About the keyboard. It's slow paced unlike iPod 4, i can't type quickly in this cp. I need to type once at a time and point the letters accurately because there was a time that I'm using my thumb for backspacing but then it presses letter M. 3. Battery can only lasts for a day. I don't do customizing yet. My phone was just sleeping for a day but then it results to be like that. (CORRECT ME if I'm wrong :)) so in summary, one of the biggest problem is RAM.. keyboard, then (in my opinion) battery ANOTHER THING: For those who are buying here in PHILIPPINES, their only freebie was the SMART SIM. We CAN'T FIND any casing for this device because there's no size fit for this yet. Well, this is my 1st android phone so... I hope I can help anyone here.
