Motorola Moto Z4 - User Reviews

  • Thanks to Google and Lenovo, we are still hearing the name Motorola. Otherwise it would have ended like Htc, Nokia, LG or Sony. Nobody killed Motorola. They just saved that company from bankruptcy.

  • Lenovo or Motorola are not Software companies or they are not the one developing android.

  • What is the model number for the unlocked version and the dual sim version?

  • Agree 100%

  • When did I ever say the 3a xl was good? Comparing a trash phone to another trash phone doesn't make it any less trash.

  • Still better than Google charging the Pixel 3a XL for nearly the same price as this Z4, but still with big bezel on the forehead (the top) and the chin (the bottom), lower chipset (SD670 vs SD675), lower internal storage (64GB vs 128GB), no microSD card slot, no FM Radio, and still using USB 2.0 whereas the Z4 is using USB 3.1. Frankly, I'd be more than happy to sell the Pixel 3a XL for this Moto Z4, and that's before we even got to the Z4's modular capabilities. That definitely puts the Z4 in the class of its own, no one dare enough to follow or copy the Moto Mods because they are more interested with all-screen phones and pop-up camera.

  • What a damn shame. If they didn't overprice it a ton and didn't cheap out on the SoC this could've been a great phone. They're really charging $500 for a cruddy 675? Sad.

  • Sure, its the customer fault...

  • Why Lenovo .. Why?!

  • The moto z3 play is still the better than than the z4. Up to spec hardware for the time, nevermind the lack of a headphone jack since good BT earphones are now more affordable than ever, besides it comes with a dongle out of the box, and mot importantly, it fits the mods perfectly to a tee unlike the z4. It seems Motorola/Lenovo is already killing the mod concept when they released a trash unit like the Z4. I think the z4 wasn't originally designed to take mods since Motorola/Lenovo said that they would only support it for 3 years. They only released the z4 maybe due to the behest of Verizon as they needed a 5G phone that's compatible with their network. They use millimeter wave rather than the better, more reliable and standard sub 6ghz that are being used by all of the 5G phones.

  • If you think about it, it's the companies that "kills" their names by producing lackluster products that people/consumers do not want also, the lack of good advertising also doesn't help. Take one plus for example, they put incredible hardware and by sheer strong word of mouth and outrageous gimmicks to promote their product, they are always on the top of must haves. Now take Motorola/Lenovo and the z4 phone. They put 4GB of RAM while the rest in the category has 6. The headphone jack is no longer an issue since there are quality and affordable BT earphones. It doesn't fit the moto mods, yes the z4 can use them but it feels like you're putting a hat on the phone. It doesn't feel integrated anymore especially the style shell. So yes, the companies kill their own products, it's the consumer that calls for the time of death of such products.

  • exactly. exactly.

  • But the lack of headphone jack stops me from buying the Z3.

  • No, you killed Motorola by not buying their products. And rest of the market. They either go with the flow and blend in or try something new and hope it will succeed. I personally liked the Carbon Fiber material on their devices, DROID Maxx and DROID Razr Maxx and did like the Ballistic Nylon on the DROID Turbo. But all the people said "nah, plastic is not premium enough" - you got what you wanted - fragile f***ing glass phones. The same you have done with the LG. G2 G3 G4 solid devices (personally owned only the G2) they tried something unique with the G5, nobody bought them (it was pretty ugly) and then a quick turn around with the G6 onwards again a solid devices. and the V series are solid as well. So who really kills the brand? Google, Lenovo, or the customer? And now I cannot buy a good phone for my needs, because all they selling is huge 6"+ fragile glass pieces front and back 150g+ devices what you drop once and done.

  • is lenovo insane ? the Z series slower than the previous model, what the hell

  • because if the phone use snapdragon 855 the price will be the same of Samsung s10 or iphone Xr , moto use snap 675 for a good phone price.... and snapdragon 675 do good job for 90% of peoples

  • Yes Lenovo killes Moto legacy.Earlar Moto devices was very very good and even E series got regular OS update along with monthly security update. But now Lenovo kill all line-up including Most popular G series.Moto G 5 series and was last Moto devices in terms of Quality and Spec. Now Lenovo don't care about Moto devices.

  • I just bought the phone two weeks ago for my son,so far so good he likes the phone with the camera360 does not look like a bad phone and is unlocked you can use it in Most of the telephone companies

  • Nope

  • Coz it's not a flagship?

  • please explain how did google killed moto

  • Nah, Google Killed Moto then Lenovo bought it and they tried to make money with the name and produced pretty good phones but now they are unable to produce good quality products and also unable to catch the competition. Now, figuratively Lenovo has killed moto.

  • Why not use Snapdragon 855?

  • lenovo killed moto

  • Does this phone support e-sim...?

  • Great phone

  • The Moto z3 is still better than the Moto z4

  • That is false, the Flagship Samsungs use Exynos to! Its only for select regions they pick the Snapdragon... The reason they pick it is due to CDMA in most cases! Also the Exynos used in the One Vision is a decent chip on par with Mediatek Helio P60 and Snapdragon 660 in most cases, power drain of Exynos chips seems to be a issue both Mediatek and Qualcomm does beat them at... V-V

  • Exynos is crap or Trash pick your best. Samsung CPU is really slow. Most Samsung flagships use SD855 because they know on a benchmark tests difference would be huge. Same goes for this Motorola phone. With SD730 or SD855 could and should be avesome phone.

  • I would even tolerate a Exynos 8895...

  • very happy to see ppl still choosing moto over pixel pixel will surely get 2 years support , but moto not even a year properly

  • Aaaaaand the camera is just as good: People and reviewers should stop it with this hate towards the Z4 and actually use it.

  • 4GB ! :(((

  • Overpriced? It only cost around $20 or so more than the Pixel 3a XL, but you got near all screen (ignoring the notch), beefier chipset, bigger internal storage memory, SD card slot and not forgetting the Moto Mods compatibility. I would easily choose the Z4 over the Pixel.

  • Is the Dolby Audio App on it like on all other recent Moto Phones?

  • In terms of size and battery it compete with the 3a XL and then the price is not so different. Plus the Z4 includes the 360° camera mod and uses gorilla glass 5 and aluminum

  • I was chatting with Lenovo customer service this morning and they mention that it will not come to Europe officially but we can buy it from USA anyway it's sells unlocked too! This is what they said to me anyway....

  • Doesn't the Pixel 3a still have the problems it had at launch? Like when people call you it takes 8 seconds before the mic starts working?

  • Sorry can't compare this to the Pixel 3A. This has a 6.4 inch screen versus the 5.6 on the 3A. It has better build with metal/glass. Gorilla instead of the cheap glass that breaks easier on the Pixel. Twice the memory at 128GB. The pixel has a better camera via software. But overall, the Z4 offers allot more. Battery life will destroy the 3A as well.

  • I know this phone might be overpriced, But as someone who bought moto mods it's very convenient for me. I have the JBL speaker and the battery mod and some back shells.

  • This costs more than Pixel 3a! Let that sink in for a moment:)

  • Why is there no info on Europe release???

  • IT IS not a big deal!! im Motorola user since 2008 and i think Motorola is not doing a well jod with this small battery 3600mah is not the best in performance. i have moto z3 play and it is not what I was thinking.

  • The single core performance on the 675 is actually someh what better than the 835. Graphics might be a slight downgrade. Then again, this could have some really REALLY good battery life.

  • Since Moto Z4 supports Microsoft Active Stylus Protocol, Motorola can create a new mod that had a battery with wireless charging and an active stylus. This would turn Moto Z4 into Moto Z4 Note! How awesome!

  • Yeah, but are they widely available in the US? This is why they think they can get away with it. The masses don't buy what they don't see.

  • Such a downgrade on processer Even moto z3 has sd 835

  • I would, I have all the mods and looking forward to upgrade from the Z3 Play to this. Camera looks good, TurboPower charging is great, battery is a beast like the first Z Play, splash proof, stock Android and Moto Actions with 2 years of Android updates and 3 years of security patches and performance is good enough. I don't play games and the phone is really fast opening and handling apps.

  • I can get any other Chinese flagship for this price or less... Motorola executives must have some neurological impediment by thinking this crap would save their company

  • Well it will be but i would like to see SD730 or at least SD710 in this phone not SD675.

  • According to Motorola's site this phone also supports band 71. Could we get that confirmed?

  • Why no AptX-HD? It's 2019 and this phone costs £500! Otherwise near perfect specs for what I want (if pric slightly uncompetitively). Is it a chipset issue?

  • Who is buying zenfones??

  • HTC and Sony are destroyed because they always make overpriced shit phone, Now Motorola is doing the same, I have not a single good logic for why should I buy this Phone ?? I can get a SD855 device for the same price as z4, so why should I go for z4 ?? Also it lacks fast charging, no gorilla glass 6 and only 4 GB RAM !! seriously bro ?? It it really worth $499 price tag ?? This phone is weaker than many 2018 mid-range phones. A Complete overprice garbage.

  • It won't be any Force series in the near future. Motorola just confirm it. They are comfortable in the mid and low end market, i don't think they want to release another Force phone that no one will buy.

  • Why no AptX-HD? It's 2019 and this phone costs £500! Otherwise near perfect specs for what I want (if pric slightly uncompetitively). Is it a chipset issue?

  • I would. Motorola is still keeping the modular phone spirit alive, and I haven't seen any further innovation by anyone else. This may not be a flagship device, but it sure will be yet another endurance champ.

  • If only there would be the Force variant. Force always use high end, flagship tier chip.

  • I would. IPS don't use much battery compared to OLED.

  • Thank you, Motorola! Finally, a worthy Z2 Play successor. Now waiting for the one with SD 8xx chip, hopefully the Shatterproof screen will make a comeback. Also, I'm expecting the Moto Z to continue be the endurance champion as the new one sports 3600mAH battery. Just imagine how long the Z4 battery would last when coupled together with the Power Pack mod.

  • You would buy a phone with an IPS screen when you can get an OLED for the same price?

  • As long as is under $349*

  • With Motorola I always get that feeling of lacking a little bit for the price I pay....post RAZR/KRZR era. That neither here nor there kinda feel. If they don't package in the 360 camera and sell this at 299-349, it would have been alright. Startac, timeport L, v60i, RAZR, KRZR, A1800, Milestone, Defy, Moto G, X1, X2, X3, X4.......Z4 or Mi9 hmmmm....

  • ^ ^ This could be the next flagship of the family if launched ^ ^

  • great midrange package with a flagship price call!!!

  • Too much overpriced phone, who gonna buy this for $499 ?? Asus Zenfone 6 is only $500 with a SD855 and all flagship specs. So Who gonna buy this mid-range moto z4 for $499 ??

  • Doesn't look like a true flagship, awaiting a force edition which could have an 855 on it.

  • Guys shut up about mods they will die out yes and you aren't forced to buy em, but look at the phone, it's actually usable, it has a dust and splash protection, it will probably be durable, reliae quality just like other Motorola phonss , no bloatware, small notch(not this pop up motorized bs), super amoled screen, good price and everything else very decent, only two downsides are the battery and sd card is shared otherwise this phone hits the spot

  • Damn, they already selling this and the question is, is this the original unit or a clone.

  • How in the World its Amazon USA selling this Phone already!!!?

  • That's gone like the X series unless they being it back for old-times

  • Probably got replaced by their Moto Z phones. I own the original Droid Turbo, thing refuses to break even after I dropped it face down from 6 feet high but I only get about 2 hours of SOT with it and multitasking is near impossible with only 3GB of RAM. Camera's aging but it still holds up in broad daylight only when HDR is turned on

  • You don't require the SD855 and if you do want a phone with SD855 look at the force edition

  • You don't really need a SD855 and even still if you do want that then look to the z4 force

  • Well i have Moto X4 which is great but still i would like to see something bit better.

  • I have old Moto Z Play and have 3 mods (battery mod, JBL SoundBoost 2 and Moto Gamepad mod ) by any chance will these be compatible with the new Moto Z4 ? Cause I think the form factor will be different and size can be an issue, right ?

  • In real world usage there'd be an indistinguishable difference between the 855 and the 675 unless you're doing things that would require something like an 855, if anything a 675 would be better since it's way more power efficient than the 855. The 675 treads into 835 territory anyway so it doesn't really matter. As long as this phone is under $500 I'll definitely pick it up

  • No SD855 what a shame

  • Wheren´t they done with Moto Mods? I mean, haven´t they realised that no one cares about mods anymore? Moto please focus on more powerful SoC and more R&D instead of wasting money on mods.....

  • that's probably the Moto Z4 Play, not the standard version

  • What happened to Droid Turbo series? With huge battery, high res AMOLED screen and ballistic nylon/kevlar case? That was something else.
