Please be clear when asking your question: Do you mean that the 5800 does not at all search for WiFi? in this scenario just make sure you have the WiFi option on. (in case it is. great). and if you know the SSID (K.I.S.S= The wifi's name) just search manually and prompt a connection. In the worse scenario it does search but does not connect. I suggest making sure you have tapped the right WiFi network. and make sure with your infrastracture company your data is matching with theirs. if they preform a test with another device. (Such as another phone, tablet or anything else) and you can connect., with all due respect as It's insanely hard to repair (unless you know how to DIY repair, and then it's easy) switch your phone. use that recommendation of phone swapping as last resort though.

Press the middle white buttom, enter menu see the 9th icon (tool), scroll down to 2nd icon (phone), double tap to enter phone setting, scroll to 2nd icon (world map), double tap to enter language, then double tap 1st menu to enter selection of languages. Hope it help.

After reading so much praises about Nokia 5800 xpress music bought one new one. It is no comparison to my ordinary android smartphone. My Intex Aqua Y2 pro plays music better than this phone. Of course the camera is better. Have not yet been able to connect my wireless wifi to this nokia phone. Any body can please inform me about internet connection.

There are some remarks and advices after using this device for 6 years :) : The camera is awesome. FM radio bug (hanging when zapping from the last to the first radio station and you need to retart the phone). GPS not disconnecting immediately especially when used for geo tagging. Cannot disable data connection especially when using whatsapp, until activating offline mode (problem of discharging battery ) or installing a third part app (NetQin). Video recording in H263 (poor quality in low light condition). always turn off (exit) the camera to avoid the battery discharging (the battery becomes very hot and the phone is suddently turned off). Resistive Touch Screen (hard to answer calls when the phone is locked).

And where do I get the firmware? That's the problem now. Microsoft has shut down the repositories where all firmwares were located, so Nokia Suite doesn't find any upgrades. Also tried to find fw from Cellomania with no luck. And Phoenix etc. are quite useless without firmware file....

Symbian is a little bit different that the modern OS's. To search for an open WiFi or any WiFi at all, you must go to Settings -》Connectivity -》Wireless LAN there will appear the list of all WiFi networks available.

To disable the mobile data you mist delete the access point in settings. There ware an application called MonetGate, which could turn on and off the mobile data, but I'm not sure if it's possible to find it enymore.

I still use the nokia 5800! it does what i need, good videos, radio FM, it sounds much better than 95% of new smartphones, good gps navigator, vgood battery duration. But it's not a good one 4 surfing the net. Heavy pages, and flashes take the phone down cuz low Ram, and weak cpu.

Click white button - Setting - Connectivity - Wireless LAN [it will show you available wi-fi connectivity available] click your wi-fi and enter pre-shared key [ this is your password to your pocket wi-fi or router wi-fi] and it will connect. you'll see that you're already connected to the inter net. click on the internet browser. Hope this helped.

Your 5800 fell in water. The best treament is to dissasemble the unit and dry your motherboard using the hairdryer. [take note not to heat it up so much as not to take apart the solder ic's] See youtube to learn the process[it's called reflow of the PBC or motherboard of phones that fell in water] If it does'nt work you need to buy an old defective 5800 with working Mobo. Hope this is helpful.

When your phone camera turns black screen when turned on it means that the camera file/s on your phone malfunctioned [commonly it's because of low storage or memory to open camera properly]. The Best way to fix this is to back -up your phone and hard reset the phone. if the camera files are still okay it restore your camera to normal. If after hard reset and camera is still black blank screen; the best solution is to flash the camera files to your phone. [ I think the camera files are the ppm file if you look for the downloadable firmware over the internet]. Hope this was helpful. [ I'm using JAF Tool by Symbian Mac to flash the phone/ you don't need to reflash other files if the camera is the only problem].

I used this phone for 3 years and my mom still use it for 2 years. So in this 5 years its still great. Its better than Iphone 3G and 3GS. Resistive touchscreen sux and symbian has limited no of apps. But u can still use it for call, message, whatsapp, social media (face, twit, youtube etc), video-call via skype or e-mail. You can also listen music and radio. It has nice speaker.

If you want something new like symbian v3 os. Then you have to flash your nokia 5800 with custom firmware. You can see video on how to do that in youtube and find custom firmware in web. Read comments of other flasher to know if firmware is stable or not. The best custom firmware are I recommend are "sybian anna" and "windows apollo belle" but download it from reliable sources. I flashed "windows apollo belle"on my nokia 5800. And it runs perfectly. The only disadvantage is nokia suite doesn't recognize it. But you will have no problem transferring file from pc. Other than that it is great. Everything is fast and smooth. The touchscreen is even more responsive. Lastly, although flashing your phone seems simple. It also has its risk. The best way to flash is use laptop than pc when there is full battery level in both laptop and mobile as pc requires external power source who knows when power gets cut. The success of flashing is always above 99% if you watch video on how to do it. But some damage their phone without doing proper research in how to flash phones. First try to learn as much information about flashing before trying. Once you do it right it becomes easy as installing windows in pc.

After my recent Nokia phone broke though, I couldn't help but remember how long my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic lasted. I had this phone when it was first released and liked it but didn't love it. I was glad when I upgraded to the Nokia N8 which was miles better than this phone. I've since moved on to be the owner of several other smartphones that includes Android and Windows Phone and can look back and laugh at this phone for how underpowered and slow it is for what we now expect a smartphone to be. Press and hold red button+green button+camera button simultaneously and turned the power on..release the buttons only after the screen appear..unfortunately,this is a soft reset action which will delete all data of the phone..remove the memory card just in case to save memory card data from being deleted..if this wont work,then you gonna have to take your phone to shop(repair)..

The phone is very tough as well.It is a sturdy, strong and really long lasting reliable phone. My Samsung Galaxy s3 broke after a month because I dropped it but my nokia did not even get a crack in the screen.

possibly one of the best phones I've ever used, has a good selection of standard type apps and symbian isn't crippled like android is. for instance there's a free wifi hotspot app you can download and install and the java is 'real' java not the not java that android has, wifi hotspot was only supported by hacking my wildfire I had at the same time. Camera is also ace as it can take multipuls shots in a row and is very responsive. another nice feature is that there are a few touchscreen keypads built in and they are easy to use, even with the stumps I have for fingures. Included stylus is also handy at times. email works with imap, skype is supported, so is facebook (I believe), nokia maps are better than googles (since you don't need an internet connection to use them as the data is downloaded in a datapack) infact most of the things you'd really want.. and there are tonnes of quality apps for symbian or in mobile java out there anyway. Why did nokia go with Microsoft when they where producing amazing symbian phones like this?

I dont know why people are complaining about bad battery life. May be I am lucky but after 5 years of use this phone is still giving me 4-5 days on a single charge. With your type of usage the batt can last around 24 hours maybe a little more (i don't to over estimate of course) and i'm saying this based on my original 3.6 year old batt... this phone is already 4 years old produced in 2008. So its just okay if you just want to use it as media player... bear in mind .... maybe there's not many games compared to Android.. ram is just 128 mb so it may get hang when playing games so you must install a good file manager app ... Cam is 3.5 mp good in daylight but not in low light or at night Cheers....

hi there, I'm using v60 currently before that i'm on v50/v51/v52 (i cant really remember it the version before v60.) but my point is i dont like v60 ( my phone is still standard out of the box) although there's new browser but it'll lag your phone eats your ram, may freeze or restarts your phone. v60 come with screen sliding unlock and a big clock but for me its not really appealing.. other opion are welcomed... cheerss..

you just have to do reset your phone by doing the following procedure.... 1.remove the memory card and sim card, 2.put back the battery, 3.then switch on your device by pressing green key+red key+camera key+power key simultaneousley. hi, i dont know what exactly wrong with your phone but perhaps this is a solution. you dont have to switch off the phone before sleeping as switching on the phone will consume batt. charge your your phone only after batt at one bar BUT before the batt drain completly. restart the phone once in a few days to release some ram memory. try to find an app that can do the auto restart. cheers....

believe it or not mine is good and still going strong... i bought with f/w v21 installed, i ignored v 30 & v 40 updates straight updated to v 50 v52 and v 60 i prefer the firmware v52 the most. still using the original battery since sept 2009.. battery life is about 36-40 hrs i wont letgo my 5800 although i'm having nokia 701 now cheers...

I am not able to make any calls or recieve Calls. Network is full and also I dont have any problem with SMS I can send SMS as well I can reveive it. What would be the problem If I make call it will be silent for 4 to 5 sec and after that I get an error message"No Answer" and If I try to call my number it will be silent and after few seconds call gets disconnected. Please suggest what would be the problem...

It's been 4.5 years since I bought this phone. Its amazing how its still going strong. Not a single problem and battery still lasts for 3-4 days with normal use. Its definitely outdated hardware and feature wise compared to today's Android phones but reliability and durability wise, the Nokia 5800 has been one of my best investments ever.

Go to OVI Store and look for maps 2.0 (developer is Nokia itself) you can download map 2.0 app using your phone or computer... to me better by computer cos its faster... then you have to download/ update it with your own country map... so can have the free navigation... nokia map is better cos you can navigate with offline mode (no data charges) last time i've use google maps the data consumption is heavy...reducing lits of your phone data quota. cheers..

I finally got to install Ovi Store by using Wifi connection on the phone. Now the camera doe snot give clean picture. Any solution folks? Battery bar just jumps from 7 bar to 6 then 3 or 1. Ya me too. The camera is not good at all. You will see the pictures alright but it's kind of white (I mean the color of the image is not good at all). Even Sony Ericsson K700i which had a VGA camera had better color image than mine.I have checked all settings and most of them are automatic... Anyway have such an issue? Reply soon.

A Very Reliable smartphone in everything like surfing, messaging, calls, personalization etc. especially MUSIC because of its Dual-Speakers.. nothing to say negative on this phone.. Had it for 3 years way back early 2009 then now this year it is at my dad's hand... not a single thing broken except for the back case (but it's not that major like LCD and internal parts) the battey life is 2-3 days moderate usage with wifi surfing and calls (note that the battery is still the original, me and my dad never replaced it despite of the almost 4-year age) I Must say its a Nokia LEGEND! I hope Nokia would again release a Phone that will catch many customers and people like this did... like a Android-powered Nokia :D and if that happens, I will Gladly go back using Nokia Smartphones... now i'm using Xperia Arc S and the Asha 302 which is also a Good 2012 Nokia unit...

backup ur important files to ur memory card and remove it . switch off ur phone . hold call key , end key and camera key . and switch on ur phone. don't leave those keys till the hand shake appears. ur fone will be good as new. before u insert ur sd card download qt from getjar. when u insert ur sd card it will take some time to reinstall all the backup filles . till they get installed don't use ur fone. if some files cannot be installed download them through the net. download m gaurd from nokia store. no more soft ware problems will come to ur phone. and at last but not the least DON'T DOWNLOAD ANY TYPE OF ANTIVIRUS. if u want to scan ur phone scan it through a compute
