Hi! I've been using this phone for 4 years plus. Change the battery few times, but still in good condition! Just need to do a master clear or reset when the flash memory is full! Don't forget to back up your contents and contacts :)

Hi, I also use the same E680i mobile for almost now 4.5 years. Recently it started giving me the error of insufficient memory hence i removed all my contacts and also the msging area was cleared. still it gave me the same problem. Hence finaly i did a Factory default setting afer that whenever I touch the screen it hangs. I've downloaded the 92 MB .shx file which i suppose is of the firmware upgrade file but i donno how to upgrade the firware. If you know the procedure or any other tip regarding this hang whilst touching the screen pls. update me on my email id [email protected]

I used the recorder function and recorded some songs and it shows 20 minutes in the phone but when I copy the file to my computer the file was CUT OFF to 3 minutes only. Does anyone know why. Thank you

The only thing i don't like about phone is the battery life. I use two batteries for mine. I've had mine for the past year or so. This phone has all the features the new touch screens is lacking like my new LG VU FM RADIO, MMS messaging, and others.

you can save it to sim card. after you enter in the contact #, hit the menu button, hit the store contact, and add the contact to the sim card easy.

One of the best phones that I've used. This baby can practically do anything that those expensive Nokia's or SE's could, except taking a decent photo. It could multi-task, comes with stereo speakers, and could even do some .doc editing if you want. With the right modifications(which ain't hard to do), you could play avi, mpeg, wmv, asf, and so on. With a huge user base, softwares and firmware mods are within a few clicks of the mouse. If you're not using the sms much, the E680i is your pick. My E680i got stolen a few days ago, and frankly speaking, I'd buy the E680i again, or maybe ROKR E6.

it's a great phone. it's only hard to setting the mms and the battery... it's not a problem for me since i used to it (charge when i sleep, and use it all day). and, for your information, even it show you "battery low" sign, just let it be. it will still hold for another hours (plus minus 3-4 hours). unfortunately, this phone just been stealing from me two days ago. i love this phone. hiks...

No, you can't listen the MP3 songs using the bluetooth headset, disappointing, right? I tried too, other than to call and answer phone calls, can only manage to listen to the video file (kungfu) which was instored the phone when first bought.

w.r.t. 2GB SD cards... The original E680 can't see a 2GB SD card, but a E680i can. You can flash your E680 with a E680i firmware and, voil�, your E680 can read 2GB SD cards! (I did it when I had an E680, hehe)

Hi ark when u insert the sd card, a message stating sd card is inserted will appear. I don�t think the phone can support a 2G sd card. I was told the most is 1G. Maybe that�s why the phone couldn�t read the card. You might want to check with Motorola. Regards, Just a little help

Hi all... Please bare w/me as i am not cell phone savy. I am unable to receive/sent Pic messages, I have contacted my provider (Cingular) and Motorola and both have instructed me to update my GPRS/browser settings. The person at Cingular tried to walk me through the steps but was unable to as they reported that the settings my phone needed were not provided by Cingular. I bought my phone in sept 2005. I really like the phone. however, the battery is realy disappointing. Was given 2 batteries (manufactures in May 2005) when bought the phone. Now both are not in good working condition. The screen just keep on lighting up and the a charged batt will just turn to one bar after a call. i bought this phone a couple of days ago. at first glance, this phone look really cool. this is my first time to have a pda phone so i can't compare the E680i from other pda phones. for guys like me who loves texting, this could be very difficult coz the touch key board is very small. another is the battery life is very short so i have to bring my extra battery whenever i'm going to a long trip. i wish the battery life is longer. i was also hoping that i can install an IM into this phone but so far i haven't found a site that would make me install one, i guess it's not possible. if you want to protext your screen, buy a plastic film to protect the surface since the screen is the essential part of this phone to operate it. basically the applications are easy to navigate. i love the audio quality. so far this is the best phone that i find the audio quality superb. you'll enjoy playing your music here. when it comes to entertainment, this is the phone for you. it's expandable memory can save you more files. i would also suggest to erase regularly your inbox for sms coz it's really difficult to erase if your inbox goes to 500+ and above. i wish the camera quality is better since it's only vga. well atleast you can manipulate the camera settings for better picture quality.

Just bought the E680i last week. Really cool phone and the graphic is awesome. One setback, can only accept .3gp video file type which can only play as 1 channel mono as compared to .avi video file type, full stereo 2 channels. When I tried to load MPEG4 (as the phone says it can handle) video files, it cames up as "error, parameters exceed the allowed limit". Can someone please tell me what this error message is and how to fix it?? thanks in advance and would be much appreciated.

John, if you cannot make phonecalls there are 2 main tests u must do: your sim card in another phone, another sim in your phone. If you try several sim cards in your phone and you still can't call, check for call barrings in your phone menu! I don't know if this phone has this option in the menu. If it's not this, you should pay a visit to a service to have your handset checked.

It depends on how u treat ur stuff. 4th, i think every1 here would agree dat d speaker is excellent ! 5th, i think formatting ur mc would solve 2 prblm..but u can upsize it up to 2GB ( dats a big + ). 6th, 65k colours is good enuff. Ur comparing dis fone wit SEW550i & K750i..y? Cuz its a totally different benchmark. E680i is a compact size PDA with Linux OS, which means dat ders a world of customization out der 4 u..while SE OS doesnt let u do dat at all..again,its a totally diffferent benchmark. can cut & paste. drag and hold just like in pc, hold until the flower logo is full then copy or cut. go to where u wanna paste, click and hold until u see flower logo then paste. normally one click is like left click and press n hold is like right click. lock the folder when u make new folder, click the folder, click the meno sign on the lower left corner, choose lock, set password. this phone has many more features that even the seller himself doesnt realise at all.

Got the phone recently and i think the phone is indeed loaded but the battery time is so horrible its not funny.You would you believe my old motorola V 600 even has better talk time?The talk time is indeed appalling and should seriously be modified.

I bought this fone in thailand nearly a year ago and so far its been great. The only problem i have with it is trying to find apps & games for it. I found a pretty good site www.ccmove.com that has loads of games but its in chinese so you have to use googles web page translation to change to english. The only games that played on my fone were .jar games. I tried download movies to my fone but the quality is terrible. i bought the fone second hand so i never got software with it but im using ipod software to convert to mpeg-4. Does anyone know how to get perfect movie play with the e680i also to play .jad files and other types of files. also where to get game emulators. thanks

I bought this phone in Thailand. Best phone I ever had. Beats Nokia's that are more expensive. I would have been happy if the phone was larger to add battery power. Tip, I had the screen covered with car windscreen film cover. This protects screen from scratches and can be relaced anytime. Love the free bluetooth headphones also.

Funny thing abotu reading reviews here. I own a E680, but upgraded the firmware to E680i. One major setback i find is that the sms-ing is difficult. You CANNOT sms with one hand. Cuz, even with the display keyboard, the buttons are too small. Your thumb would just hit 'w','e','s', and 'd' together. Think about it as it'll definately slow your sms-ing down...

Both great and disappointing at the same time. Really nice as a multimedia machine, but disappointing as a PDA. Nice: -finish, feel in hand -phone is integrated well with media player -phone is expandable with standard SD cards -SMS/MMS interface is slick, functional -records phone calls!!! (ask permission first. i'm a writer who interviews people and this is incredibly helpful for me) -works as a USB storage device for PC files -handwriting recognition! (i'm a diehard for this) -tip for t-mobile customers in US: i got MMS working by applying the motorola v600 profiles for gprs and mms through the t-mobile 'configurator' website. Disappointing: - can only view word, excel, pdf documents: CAN'T EDIT THEM - not a sophisticated PDA - calendar and phone book not as beautifully functional as palm's - few if any applications available beyond what comes with the phone - not a platform many developers are working on - not quite as simple to navigate as palm devices If you need a superfunctional PDA with lots of applications, I'd say a treo is the way to go. But if you want something that's more like a multifunction iPod/media center with a basic PDA and phone attached, this could be satisfying. Since it's built on Linux, also there are opportunities for a lot of tweaking, though it sounds like motorola isn't being very helpful (see ). I'm going to stick with this, I hope, until "Access Linux" devices come out with both Linux and legacy Palm support. mjb

Get A Better Brain.

Get A Thinner Phone, It's a multimedia phone, so if you max out & try out all the features & go crazy everytime, no matter what kind of space-age batt you use, you're goin to drain it. That is a no brainer. The cam is a bit bad, I admit, it is only VGA, but for a phone with so much features packed in, easily forgettable. It was released early 2005, so planning for this phone probably started in 2003, so VGA is still acceptable. The touchscreen works fine for me. I can makes calls & navigate around with my thumb alone. SMS is a bother though, as the keyboard letters are pretty small. It's ok when in normal conditions, but hard to do when in a moving vehicle, say bus or car. Lastly, use the lock-switch! It is there for a reason, man. Blaming the phone for making calls, because you didnt enable the lock is just a bit dumb.. It's actually a good phone, I hv had it for almost a year, and I like it, cos its a portable entertainment system, literally. Good sound, plays back video like a dream, not like a crappy phone, but actually like a tiny tv screen. And one thing I love, I have contacts, images, sms, videos, games, movies, it does not lag or hang. Nobody in here has complained abt that, cos it really doesnt lag at all! Wish I could say the same for most phones out there, with all the bells & whistles, they can't even make a phone that works smoothly, most of the time. So this is good, cos it works on a basic level, but still has crazy crazy features!

this phone is not good. the features are great though with FM tuner, mp3 player, video player, voice recorder, and its touchscreen which makes life easier to SMS. But the battery is SHORT. If you talk regularily, the battery will run out in one day or sometimes less. When u play with feautures, the battery dimishes really fast. The camera isnt good either. I had this phone for about 7 months and i am going to trade it in for an L7 cuz its thin, long battery life and probably has a better camera. The other thing about this phone is that the screen is pretty durable but a screen protector would be needed if your gonna put it in ur pocket. the touchscreen isnt that good either. Sure its cool, but when u put it in ur pocket, ur might accidentally press a feauture and the battery like will be gone. sometimes u accidentally call someone and ur money is gone. but, overall, this phone is very user friendly but im just sick of all the inconviniences this phone brought me.

i just got the e680i 2 weeks ago, phone works great, its one of the best ive ever had, just having one little problem with it, ive already bought two memory cards for it, a 1gig and a 2 gig, but it impossiblew for me transfer information between the computer and phone, if i use a card reader to transfer info into my card and then place in my phone, the phone does not recognize any format of songs on the card, mp3, wav, many others.anyone got an answer for my problem, id appreciate it, my email is ,[email protected], thank you.

OK, it's a very fine phone. It runs on linux. It has normal speed and normal startup time and all that stuff. It's a great phone! I use it for... not even one month and I found out this: The IM doesn't support MSN Messenger nor Yahoo nor Google talk! This so-called "Linux" smartphone doesn't even run "Linux" programs(.bin, auto-installers, .package)! Motorola doesn't even have online support(email) person-to-person! Motorola has left out their mobile phones. They didn't even have this phone on their mobile phone list! There's no-one you can talk to about problems This phone doesn't really recognize any file types except for those excel and all that stuff... You can't update real player to play other formats! The so called "mini" browser doesn't let you switch to mobile mode(to get pages to show their mobile page instead of loading a great big page costing money) It can't "load" or "play" java applications that are .class... only .jar Oh yea, if anyone can solve my problem on how I can use a linux program please email me :P I can't email motorola because they don't have support(as listed above)

very great phones!! great MOTOROLA e680i but somehow the battery only last 1 day if using more frequent with the touchscreen for the free java IM we can use 1. www.jabber.nu (but expensive gprs data) 2. IM+ (but we must pay some money, work great, less express gprs cost) more info at www.motorolafans.com list of some feature: - linux ( since we can play more about it) - play with mplayer (eplayer_b7) - play with winamp (java based) - qonsole (terminal) - file sharing via network (usblan) - many emulator come in now GBA, GBC, xnes, snes - many native linux apps can port (nmap, bash, slocate, ip, ldd, and many more) - can support our native languange to install (pls check it out in the forum how) - can update the firmware itself

In regard of going to interenet, I can go on to internet now. Hm..i duno exactly how to do it. Coz my bro helped me to config it. When I first got my phone, it has internet provider such as Orange, Sunday ...(providers from Hong Kong ...coz my phone is an import version). My bro once mentioned you can call Cingular or T-moble to sent you the internet config. Call customer service, they should know what you want.

I have to encode teh video files into the format accepted by E680 (I forgot the format name..something start with g.. grcp? something like that). I got a simple encode program from a Japanese side. It took me just 5 minutes to encode a 50M+ Michael Jordan gaterade commercail clips. Do a search on japanese yahoo. You will find the program.

(1)download mp3 to phone (2)open SETUP on bottom of desktop on phone(3)go into RING ALERT STYLE (4)click EDIT (5)click on folder icon for ringtone line 1 (6)scroll all the way down the list of default tonesand click on MORE... This phone rules. I bought it about 4 months ago and it is working great. There are tons of software and games out there to download, and I have loaded this phone with music videos, mp3's, and GameBoy Advanced ROMs. The camera is not so great compared to the standard, but is nice nonetheless. The speakers on the phone are definitely one of the best out there. And, of course, not to forget the HUGE TOUCHSCREEN! The screen is big and looks very nice!

I just bought MOTOROLA E680I.It is good. But some features are not useful: 1)Music player can not adjust bass and treble. Nokia N-gage is very good music player with bass and treble, but there is no 3d surround. 2)Recoder is low format(amr) recording. Nokia N-gage can record sound in aac format from radio or line in phone(cd-player, md player,tv,...). Can not record calling voice while I was talking. 3)Files manager can not view any system folders/files. 4)I can use only its own features and programs. Because most of the software are not supported with this plateform. 5)VGA camera is good but it is very small pixels. It should be bigger than or equal to 1megapixel with flash light. 6)No camera is recommended, because it has low quality like a true camera(7.2megapixels) and the price is cheaper than including camera. 7)It is great to view some documents of word, excel, powerpoint...etc. But it can not edit. Some editing programs can not install. recommended to unuseful user.

MOTOROLA E680i is one of the cheapest PDA available in the market.overall the phone is good except for few feature.. pluses- 1)good stereo fm/mp3 player. 2)ability to store and view pdf,microsoft word/excel docs. 3)calender/task/bluetooth and good sync utility 4)good email/browser utility 5)good touchscreen. minuses- 1)linux based os does not installer utility.cant install many exe applications or games.no os support or upgrades available too. 2)cannot edit word or excel docs.no editor for these applications 3)sound recorder is not very good. 4)camera is only vga. recommended only for low end user.

I WAS using this fone for almost 3 months until it drives me crazy. The problem is, all my phonebook is gone, don't know why... sell it and change with other fone. Beside my case, i love the design and features... Design 8,5 Features 9,0 Performance 6.0 (very slow at almost everything) But beside the design, i love e680 better, i didnt have or will use the headset and the worse is, it is hard to install themes. e680 doesnt have picsel (or whatever, forget already) but has a great themes manager. Trust me, it's easier to install 1 piscel rather than many theme with linloader or whatever.

E680i is an excellent phone with its features and so on..However, i would like give some a idea to upgrade the recent phone. 1st of all, the camera must be upgraded at least 2.0MP and with 1.3 video call camera( 3G available), yet, its shared memory can be upgraded till 96MB to fight with samsung. Its expansion memory still can maintain 2GB or upgraded to 2.5GB to becomethe best. Edge, MMS, GPRS, SMS, EMS are long time exsits so we still need it. FM radio, MP3, MPEG4 as well as MP4 can be stillmaintained.Blue tooth, USB, and the infra red must be maintained and added in.PLS added as much as possible..i would like to put the name as well, MOTOROLA E688i. Oh yeah..the camera with the flash light is recommended as well..Hence, increase the price, increase quality..TO LET MOTO become the best!!

I just bought it a week ago. Its great! The only thing I wonder is that I can't exit the Alert app window using the navi button or end call button. While other app can be exited using the end button. My E680i alert app can only be exited using stylus. I wonder is there any other user experienced the same problem or something wrong with my system?? Thx for the help. Another thing is that while I convert any video to .rm file using MotoEZxVid software is so so slow. is there any other software that I can used??? free one I mean ^^

hi i used 680i 4 two months and then switch back to nokia why? because 1:its has a very poor quality camera 2: very limited battery life. 3:virtually no thired party software available and motorola is least pushed to help it costumers with software issues 4:its a motorola and has no resale value in pakistan after one year of useage the good thing about the set is, its treandy and have good sound/multimedia

I have one and love it for the most part. The GUI is great, sound is good, there are plenty of features, and the screen really is excellent, but IS IT ACTUALLY A SMART PHONE? I think it isn't; the Linux is embedded and not available to the user. I don't think it is possible to install more software, apart from java games. So no office applications, GPS tracking software etc. But if I'm wrong, tell me and I'll be even more satisfied than I am now. Finally, in terms of value for money, this phone is a total winner at around $340 US!

Nepllica, this phone's video playback quality is excellent. I convert my DVDs into MP4 and just watch it, when Im on the bus to work, or when I'm bored. Same goes for music videos, and some TV shows. At the end of the day, it all depends on the quality of the original video file. But, over 10, i give the quality an 8 or 9. It doesnt look like some sucky phone, trying to play videos. It's actually like a small TV screen, amazing. Still blows me away, how I can watch full shows on my phone. So high-tech & cool, haha. Anyway, the next concern is the SD Card, cos I store everythin in there. The battery life is a bit of a downer though. Like a whole day of watching vid, maybe a full 5hrs, can deplete the batt completely, at least for me. This is along with other usage, such as calls, messaging, & just randomly clicking around. Maybe, I'll do a solid video test, to see how long it actually lasts, playing only video, till the batt dies..

Baher Ghali, You're mistaken there. You can put your Mp3s & MIDIs on as both the ringtone AND the message alert sound. When you are at the list where all the pre-installed tones are, go all the way down, where there is a "More..." option. Once you click that, you locate your Mp3, select it and its usable as a ringtone. Do you have this phone, or do you just think it doesn't do this?

hi i got this set a month ago in pakistan its a cool set with every thing u ever wish for, except that its has a poor quaility camera and need lot of effort to take good pic . 2ndly its a linux so the software & applications are very limited but this can be compensated by installing java based game and applications. its GPRS setting are difficult but manageable if anybody know any cool links 4 this set do let me know thanks

This phone is incredible. Other than the low-quality camera, this phone is definitely one of the coolest out there. If you're not a big fan of taking pictures, E680i is clearly the way to go. With features like english/chinese input, independent Real Player, and GAME SYSTEM EMULATORS that are easy to d/l, this is truly the multimedia all-in-one device. I mean, how cool is it to play GameBoy Advanced games and listen to the lastest mp3s and watch movies and have a TOUCH SCREEN? :D

I've had this one for close to a mth now. Bought it on 13/8/05 from SingTel. Previously i used a nokia, but glad i made the switch. Its a gd phone, loaded with all the right features for me. It came with a free bluetooth headset, two styluses n batteries. The Good: - Has one of the larger screens (320x240) Ive seen on these kind of smartphones. - System is pretty stable, with little or no lag from stylus. - Being able to watch full movies on ur phone is a great time-filler. - If you get sick of that, the radio/mp3 works great. Very easy interface. - 2 options for charging. With supplied charger, or through USB cable. - When plugged in to computer, the phone is recognised as a removable disk. How great is that?! I create & upload my personal wallpapers, take out & put in files like nobody's business, just drag & drop. No need to install any pesky softwares, like Connect or worse PCSuite *YAY!* - Allows memory upgrades all the way up to 2GB. Ive got full movies, music videos in there, plus albums. - For some of you who asked, Videos *either taken from VGA cam or loaded from card* plays full screen. No options to brighten screen or adjust color, though. - The SD slot is located at the bottom, so u can remove it without having to shutdown or taking out the backcover or battery, unlike most Nokias. - Solid construction, even tho its white plastic. Worried it might feel a bit toy-like but its ok so far. Its not rickety like Nokias. The Bad - For a phone, so targeted for the young & multimedia-frenzied, the VGA cam really is a let down. Even a 1.3 would be better in this case. - For some reason, the pics look better on the phone screen, than transferred to computer. Weird. - The top 2 buttons are permanently programmed to call up RealPlayer (Left) & hook up with Bluetooth Headset (Right). Would prefer it if we could assign our own call-ups for there buttons, since how often do we call up RealPlayer, as compared to Calendar or say, PhoneBk? - The batt depletes real fast, depending on usage. I get thru a day & a half, with no video viewing & mp3 listening. But with mp3 & Movies, less than a day. - The speaker placement is abit unfortunate. On loudspeaker, the music is muffled, when laid flat. Other option is to flip it, with screen facing down, but whats the point? If only the speakers were more to the side, than at the back. Or if it stands vertically up, that would be great, but here it means that its a bit awkward to hv the music directed at you, and still be able to access the screen & menu. - Videos HAVE to converted to MP4. It doesnt work with ordinary .mpeg or .rm. The phone records footage in 3gp, but when I convert mpeg videos to that format, it doesnt play either. So its MP4 all the way. This suxx cos its an extra hassle. The conversion software frm motorola doesnt work for my setup, so I use PSP Video 9 instead. -The preloaded games arent that exciting. Nice graphics though. -PixelViewer is a pretty useless application. It views documents/pics & thats it. Thought I could use it as an ebook reader, but its just tiresome, having to keep choosing n scrolling over the pages. - For the guy who asked, it has no arabic language support. Only automatic, english & chinese. But then again, its a local set, even the manual is printed in Singapore, so it might differ, depending on location? - For Texting messages, the screen-keyboard is a bit small. The little squares are tiny! HArd to tap on even when im standing still, much less sitting in a moving bus..bummer. That's it so far. Pretty happy with the whole thing. Dont use my Bluetooth Stereo Headset at all though, so if any singaporeans here want to take it off my hands, email me.

Hi, I bought this phone and found it the best although with few discrepencies such as low battery performance. We can view movie in full screen by clicking on the runing movie screen. Sound is perfect specially with handfree. Radio quality is also best. Video is not that markable. SD card can be ejected by pushing it inside, it will come out. E680i:- Either Phone Battery Indicator or Batteries are Faulty(yo-yo)? I bought this phone on 13/8/05 & tried on both new batteries after their 1st charging of 8 hrs each. The phone battery indicator for both batteries can jump tremendously, i.e. 100% to 20% or sometimes 50%. Fully charged battery while attached with USB linked to PC (still charging), shows only 20%. When unplugged the USB, it returned to 100%. While updating phone book for about an hour or more, the HP can totally shut off (happened twice) & unable to start again as battery is totally flat. I sent to MotoServiceOne on 20/8/05 & the staff suggested reloading all the setting. It was done but problem reoccurred. On 26/8/05, I returned to exchange for new phone (within 14 days) as advised due to 2 occassions that phone was heated inside my trousers pocket, but they had no stock. I called & was informed under reserve list. Until now, I have not received any call from MotoService One. My experiences with them are to wait again and again & they showed no interest with their impatient customers. Is this phone faulty, or bugs on the battery indicator or both batteries are malfunction? Any similar batteries experience, please advise. NB: is non-active website. I was the last posting (25/8/05) & before were on Mar05.

Hi, This fone come with one battery, one charger, earpiece(stereo headset), USB cable, CD, leather case and only one stylus. Yeah, there are few applications for this fone. How did you delete those files? You meant the files in the internal memory? Did you have an external SD card? You can only view those documents. There is no solution to support editor. The sound quality is good with the earpiece(but bass is not so sharp). But better with the loudspeaker. And there is no distortion. You can also answer calls when listening to music by pressing the button on headset.

I love this phone, but I hate that I can only view word, excel, and powerpoint documents. Does anyone know, if it is at ALL possible to edit these documents. Other than that, I really like the phone. hi, You can view powerpoint files stored in the SD card with this fone. Because the Picsel Viewer installed in this fone support those file formats. If you want to listen to more than one songs, you can set a playlist by tapping the 'playlist' icon(then tapping bottom left icon and select 'Add') when playing music. Making calls is simple just by tapping the top right icon in the global navigation bar. Then a number keyboard will prompt. Pros of this fone are its high quality sound(mp3 player), smooth movie playing, good display, stereo bluetooth, capability of viewing many document files, FM radio and handwriting. I think the reception is OK. But the battery life is really short. And there are little applications for this fone because of the linux OS.

I tried to reformat my vids using the software provided. It still doesnt play, later I used PSP Video 9 to get it all in mp4 format, and now it plays great. I have feature length movies I can watch on the bus! Just wish I have a bigger SD Card. About the card, only SanDisk cards have this configuration in them, where u can just pop it out, without data lost. For other brands, its better to go to the toolbar-menu and eject the card from there, before poppin it out. Its just good practice.

Nice phone love the music bad battery life though with stereo headset bluetooth on lasts for around 4 hrs other than that nearly perfect. + it has Linux OS and for ppl like me who believe is open source means i can tinker with it. Just waiting for the warranty to expire first :D this is a bloody expensive phone. btw THIS PHONE DOES NOT EDIT WORD OR EXCEL APPLICATIONS IT ONLY ALLWS YOU TO VIEW THEM WITH A PIXEL VIEWER. Hey Bob, for this fone, its a linux base fone, if u want a more powerfull fone, try to choose which really a PDA fone, for this fone it only has a PISCEL software for only viewing OFFICE file " word, excel, powerpoint, acrobat " but u cannot edit the file on it... look for PDA phone which are window based, i think it suits you more... Hey Dan, Bout your prob, I also did not encounter such prob with my 1G SD card, I did not also format my SD just start using it, cud u try to use other SD card brand like tracsend, etc? do you eject your SD card properly on the menu before you pull-out your SD to avoid data loss or such problem? if it still persist ask moto bout the case... Hi Need help urgently!! This is a nice a phone with great functions after using ab 1 mth+, But i do encounter problem with the SD card. I had bought two SD (512MB)card fr Kingston. I plug in one of the SD card and start using w/o formatting but during tat one whole mth, i do encounter data lost&unstability of the SD card, causing my phone to hang/lag when i tried to open files from the menu, which i had to off the phone to stop the hang/lag&restart again. I've reformatted the card using the phone function but problem persist! I've called Kingston to check out the problem, they agreeded to change a new card for me but somehow i feel is the phone filmware problem/bug. Now i formatted and plug in a brand new card to monitor whether haf this problem, but somehow or rather this problem came back juz days ago, prompting to reformat my SD card out of nowwhere(lucky no data lost this time). I've asked my 3 other colleagues who had E680 whether had this problem but they told me they neber encounter this problem, one of them even didnt formatted his 1G SD card & start using. And until now he neber encounter data lost. Can anyone help me w this problem???? Did anyone of u encounter this problem??? Urgently required your sincere advise...thanks

This fone is just fine w/me, I only comment on its Battery Life, if I listen to my MP3, I need to charge my cell again maybe twice a day... coz a 3Hrs talk time would not really last for a long MP3 listening.. About the movie, I already watch movie on thisa cell phone and its great, with its wide screen, hehehe, pretty cool I advise you guys load a movie in .rmvb or .rm formats, if dont cant find any, try to rip .dat, mpeg, mpg, avi to .rmvb file, it willl reduce one VCD file from 700mb to 70mb only, and if you have a 1G SD card like mine, you can store a lot of movies... After using this phone for 3weeks i am now bored of this phone. The thing that i didnt like is the camera, video and the Linux OS, everything else is excellent. The Linux OS is pretty bland and boring to me, I dont have time to full around with Linux. Sure this phone has a lot of features, but some features are outdated like the vga camera/video. Unlike phones like Nokia this phone doesnt really have any fancy application/features thats available everywhere unlike the Symbian OS and the Windows Mobile OS phones. If you dont mind the vga camera/video and the Linux OS, then get this phone. I didnt even last a month with this phone, theres better phones out there for the price of this phone.

When the screen is blanked, and the buttons are locked, pressing the button on the top left side will temporarily activate a clock display. Manuals are out on the 'net...speak up if you can't find and I'll send you one (English pdf)

Great Phone - best of its kind [NOW]. well if you lose your preloaded games just do a reset the game will be back. remember to back up your data. Secondly this information for those who still wonder how to use ht820 with e680i. First you need to do the pairing, i guess not so hard so lets skip it. So after the pairing, you tested that the headphone can be used for making calls. What next... the music part. Well it took me 5 mins to figure out how it work and yeah... here we go.. 1st go back to bluetooth place. TAP on MOTOROLA HT820. then the option on left bottom corner. and TAP on CONNECT. you will find a message that the function for remote audio control is on. NEXT VERY IMPORTANT THINGS IS. ON YOUR REAL MEDIA PLAYER. And there we go. press the right M button on headphone... and thanks God for creating music in this world.

Hi got this phone and its my first phone ever. This phone is great. Even the camera is only 0.3 mp, the touch screen compensates for that. You can use you fingers or the pen. I love the speaker hands free feuture. The screen is bright and colorful. I have mine in black. And the wallpaper is so great. The internet use is fabulous and the games are like gameboy games. The only critisisms I have is the battery life and you have to pay for the wallpapers. Overall, I'm glad to get this phone.

I realize that E680i cannot have the alert mode 'RingTones and Vibration' on the same time. It only provides, 'Vibrate, Then Ring Loud' and 'Vibrate, Then Ring Soft'. Is there a way to make the phone ring and vibrate at the same time? This is not a special function, most of the normal phone able to do that, I hope E680I can do that as well.

i can't get my ht820 to play music files, dunno what it wrong, can someone help? This is how i pair up my phone, starting with a blank device list on the bluetooth application on e680i 1) on the ht820, press the left mfb for 10 secs until light remains on 2) on the e680i, click on search until ht820 is found 3) on the e680i, click on bond for the ht820 4) on the e680i, it shows the ht820 bonded 5) on the e680i, wait for 5 secs and it will show ht820 headset connected 6) on the e680i, goto the phone page and dial a number, the ht820 works normally 7) on the ht820, press the right side mfb for 3secs or longer, nothing happens on e680i 8) on the e680i, launch realplayer and play a song, song comes out from phone not from headset, any button on the ht820 for music functions does nothing (right side)

just brought this babe for abt a week.. cool phone to have.. a beta software than e680.. te package come wif 2 bat.. so u dun have to worry abt bat life.. as u always have an extra... te text input is easy.. u may find it difficult... but when u r use to it, u have nothin to worry... te best part of all is te bluetooth headset... can play music up to 14 hr... n te playback quality is gd.. with bass.. onli sometime te audio is not so up to standard... but te sound quality is beta ani phone or even it's own line headset.. but te camera still need some improvement... te corner is blur n dark.. hope it will get beta wif next phoneware update.. te 3d speaker just get beta.. louder than e680.. if u think is too soft u can increase te vol wif a little edit on te computer.. after increase te vol to abt 200%.. at most places te mp3 ringtone could be heard.. so vibration is not needed...can save bat on tt..

I think this phone is great. It has tons of great features. I am returning this, however, because some unforseen issues came up: 1) I thought the fact that it had no keypad was interesting, but dialing numbers and quickly searching through my phonebook for names via the touchscreen was at the least inconvenient. 2) The voice recognition thing is good, except if you're asian like me and have a lot of asian names on there which aren't common in the english dictionary--half the time the thing couldn't get to the right person in the phonebook. 3) This is the main reason why I'm returning this phone: for me, it doesn't syncrhonize correctly with MS Outlook. I don't know about the calendar synchronizing since I didn't do much of that. What I was trying to do was synchronize it with my list of contacts from Outlook. This thing syncrhonized some and not others. Then some contacts ended up with errors like parts of the name missing and some of them didn't even get filed into the correct category that it was listed under on the computer. POS. I spent at least 5 solid hours doing trial-and-error to make it work but in the end, no good. I'm disappointed.

E680 and E680i have FM Radio hardware. You don't need extra radio headset. You can play the FM Radio, mp3 songs, even videos from the phone. E680i even has Stereo Bluetooth headset support (HT 820), a nice piece with old school style. :-)

Yes, this phone lacks a keypad. :-) Programs/applications for E680 and E680i are available on forums, such as Motorola Fan Club (www.rcsc.sisrs.com/mfc) or the Chinese ccmove (www.ccmove.com). This is an excellent phone, guyz. I've go the E680, and am still very happy with it. As for the headset issue, don't worry, this phone has an autoanswer feature, so you do not even need to touch your handset. If you are listening to mp3 or FM radio or watching movies, the player will pause, automatically answer the call, and after the call ends, it automatically resumes the audio/video-playing. This phone roxxx!!!

i thing to confirm is that when listening to mp3 songs with the wireless headphones, phone rings... don know if we can answer the phone with the headphone.... if cannot then is a waste... imagine... listening to mp3 songs with the wireless headphone suddenly phone rings... then got to remove the headphone then take the call from the handset... damm man.... even if the wireless headphone can listen to phone call... does it have a button to accept phone calls?? if no, then if the phone is in the bag... then u in a crowded bus... standing... imagine u got to quickly dig the bag for the phone just to press the answer button.... then is not good.... -_-"

I think this cell phone is very well made as it combines a wide variety of features into a moderatly sized cellular phone, with great design characteristics to match. I feel that this phone has all of witch you could want/need in a cell phone, although just lacking in how "powerful" the features actually are...eg. only VGA camera and only 65k colour screen. Maybe the next model in this Motorola Series will be able to pursue these upgrades. Overall I feel it is a very successfull cellphone.

How E680i different to E680 : - New firmware. - More 3D Games. - Integrated docs (doc, xls, pdf, ppt, jpg, web) viewer. - Opera HTML Browsing. - Tasks/meetings are displayed on home screen. - Stereo bluetooth headset (means, wireless audio-playing?). - Extended bluetooth capabilities. Some say that the 2 gigs card support is actually supported by E680 also, but when it was released, there was no 2 gigs card. Motorola should've really put a 1.3 MP camera on E680i. That would be a nice thing to have. :-)

gosh..pls tell me there're no differences to the e680 and the e680i. or rather..tt e differences are so inconsequential (eg. up frm 1gb to 2gb) that there's little real difference between the two hps. Juz bought my e680. love the hp like nuts. if only.. a) e680i was not launched juz a few wks aft i bought my hp b) e680 had more games downloads...esp in singapore. most of the telcom services don't have games compatible with my e680 for some weird reason. for that matter...most mobile games servers don't have games compatible with the e680. anyone knows any sites i can check out for that?

E680 & E680i the hardware and software have difference as the BT supports 2 addational features for audio remote control mode, as for the software it's total different outlook compare to the E680 with advance softare enhancement..!!! The BT Services is GOOD!!!

great features but it should have 1mp or above and hopefully they will release a windows smartphone that will have the same features as this but in a phone factor and with the 1mp or above.
