Received this phone as a gift and have used it in the US for a year and a half. This phone was once decent but has since become slow, unresponsive, and laggy. Several apps are unresponsive and crash. Network speeds are usually in the Kbps running on Edge, so it's hard to load apps/webpages or even get signals most of the time. The 1gb of RAM is horrible and the internal storage actually sits around 2gb making it impossible to have more than 5 large apps installed. Having a micro-sd card is good for photo storage and download storage. Looking forward to upgrading soon. Jan, 2016

Had this for a day now. The good: excellent specs, very responsive, huge screen, great price. The bad: It could just have been my phone (got it through eBay) but mine was loaded with some wacky hack of MIUI, which is itself a hack of Android. Spent a couple hours installing stock MIUI, then figuring out how to install Google services, since MIUI deliberately removes them. Overall, I'm very happy with this phone. Would probably prefer stock Android over MIUI, but that's a small price to pay for such a great, cheap phone.

I've had this phone for about 3 months and for the most part it has served me well. The only things that really get on my nerves is that the volume for the headphones is very low meaning that the highest volume level is not very loud. Also, this phone does not have the google framework (no GooglePlay, no GoogleMaps...) which is very frustrating. Finally, the outside of the phone is very slippery and can easily slip out of your hands. Other than these few problems the phone is worth your money.

I have had this phone for about two weeks and give nothing but praise for it. As for battery life its very good I have the wifi on most of the day listening to the internet radio and still lots of power left ( spare battery cost less than £5 from uk sellers) there are so many positive things I could say about this phone I do like the fact that you can record phone conversations and secret text messages the dual sim works very well giving a warning if one sim is roaming. been using this phone since 25 may 2014. Accessories was easy to find, no problem with the memory, antutu x benchmark varies from 12k to 16.7k. Camera wise, pictures taken with bright/day light was better and if you enable flash in the dark area, response from camera was some how slow, not sharp but still very good compare to other brand. I tried switching the camera to on, and move the phone up and down few times to see the response, it was by far worst than s4, iphone 5s, galaxy note 3, lenovo s660 model. I enter the engineering mode to make the sound loudest to value 160 but still very bad. watching movie with this phone u must use ear phone or else u'll be facing problem listening to the sound output maybe due to the speaker placed behind. In terms of screen, sometimes response of screen was slow but never hang and so far, this is the only phone with the current stable rom JHBCNBD15.0 i never have issue of force close or reboot. For the price its cheapest phone with good quality spec compare to lenovo s650. for price of rm459, i couldn't fine any other trustable brand of phone can give such a good and low price. playing game of nfs most wanted and fifa 14 or asphalt 8 have no issue except some laggy condition playing asphalt 8 compare to asus zenfone 5.

well, there are 2 versions: TD-SCDMA: used only in China (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TD-SCDMA) W-CDMA (aka international 3G): used in other countries (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W-CDMA) If your Xiaomi Hongmi doesn't work with 3G, it is most likely that you own the one intended to be sold only in China.

Own this phone. I'm still quite happy with it, except I can't play any graphic heavy games such as 3D shooting or driving game. The UI is pretty easy to use, it's like an Iphone interface. I bought my phone from China, one thing I don't like is I can't use the google play to download stuff, instead I can only use Xiaomi's store which they filtered much of the apps. For example, no google map, they replaced it with baidu map. With the price it sell, it offer much better value than most other phone though.

I am one of users in Taiwan,bought hongmi in the official website,December 2013. The product's software you buy in Taiwan is different from China version. Taiwan version is preinstalled with "google",such as Google play、google +.... also facebook. it can switch language to English! Taiwan used WCDMA system,if you are interested with this phone(WCDMA),you may try to buy one from HK or Taiwan. Except 3D game play maybe lag,the other feature are very good!

The new Xiaomi Hongmi has a really good haptic, the MIU OS runs quick and smooth and the camera is also quite good with 8.0MP. To get used to the new MIU OS takes a bit but all in all its quite alrigt. Another plus is that the phones comes with preinstalled Apps like Fabebook, Twitter, Viper, Skype and Whatsapp. For this "low" price its really a nice phone which I could recommend to people who do not want to spend more then 200 USD. For users which do not want to flash the mulit language menu on their own you can for example buy this phone directly from CECT SHOP where it comes with preflashed language menu. Cheers

Hongmi was first introduced in Mainland China with GSM & TD-SCDMA (1900/2100MHz) version for China Mobile. Later a WCDMA (900/2100MHz) version for China Unicom. When the phone was launched in Taiwan and HK, it showed on the official Xiaomi page with WCDMA (1900/2100MHz). I found out it wasn't true. I asked Xiaomi customer rep and they secretly changed the spec on web site (on December 23) to WCDMA 900/2100MHz. So Those of you living in North America, you can't get 3G data connection, only 2G GSM!!! Beware!

you guys should head over at either antelife or spemall to buy the phone spemall is cheaper with cheaper shipping but make sure you mention you favourite courier. The trick to knowing they have physical stock is when they put up pics in the description of the phone. Then you know there wont be delays. or else prebook and wait it out.

Fyi this phone is not like other chinese phones that we see on streets like here in the philippines. This is a quality phone that can compete to other known brands like samsung. This is xiaomi its like samsung in korea or sony in japan. Xiaomi is from china. Just try it and ul see what i mean. This is a great phone. And it comes qwith miui my favorite os based on android. If cherry mobile (philippine brand) is using it then it will be a sure hit.

It does support GSM 900/1800/1900 2)there are various english retailers like aliexpress, such google it 3)it is priced at 799 chinese yuan on their website 4)has antutu benchmark of 14000-16000(+- a little here and there) 5)dimensions 137*69*99mm 6)runs MIUI on top of android 4.2 7)no google services pre-installed (i believe) if i missed out any questions, you can try googling for info
