Nokia 8 - User Reviews

 • I'm using this cellphone from last 2 years still Alhamdulillah no issue very suitable for heavy games like pubg and call of duty

 • All nokia phone network singnals missing problems please fixx this issue overall working perfact from pakistan

 • I am using this one at the moment, parrot043: PMGC_7.0.009_CuttleIsoBuild_V1.apk Seems to work really well.

 • which mod do you use?

 • It seems like you either are using a separate app for camera or are background apps running? Backgroud apps like FB causes heating and drains battery quite fast. But in my last 1.5 years of use haven't come across such an issue. working butter smooth. Water ingress can also cause such issues, but this should happen continuously if thats the case. Refrain from using the phone while charging as it is dangerous not just for NOKIA but for any smart phone.

 • It seems to be the OIS in the camera. I've noticed that if it does vibrate, shaking the phone helps (it stops vibrating after that, and OIS is then able to do its job correctly).

 • Love this device. Had it 18 months and no issues at all. Buttery smooth. I love the fact there is no bloatware and it is running stock Android. Loads of grunt. The Nokia camera app is ok, but gcam takes awesome photos. Am currently using gcam 7.0 and the photos are fantastic.

 • My friend bought and used it for 1.5 years without any issues. Then dropped it in a lake but liked it so much that she bought it again. No issues in this phone either. What did you do to your phone? Do make sure you're buying from authentic sellers. There are people that try to sell refurbished/repaired phones as a new phone.

 • I had the device for more then one and a half years and now it is used by my sister, never had one reboot. Your probably have a bad battery... and most probably you never treated it well.

 • Looks like you need to change the battery.

 • Can someone please help me solve my problem with Nokia 8. For about two weeks now the phone keeps on rebooting itself, I have done factory reset and still it keeps doing that. Is so annoying that it can reboot itself for about ten times in just five minutes. I seriously need help because I love this phone.

 • Please do not buy this phone. At first it might be very awesome and cool but after 5 months or so the phone will start to reboot when we take the camera app. Then it will start rebooting at 50 % then 80% then 90% and so on. I can now only use the phone when it is charging . If i stop charging it will keep on rebooting and the device becomes very hot sometimes. Very Bad device by Nokia . Please dont buy . Not worth the money .

 • I doubt if Android 10 update will happen for this phone, since it's running on standard Android and not the Android One variant.

 • I've been using this phone for 1.5 years and now my phone have problem about auto restart when i play online games and when my phone litte warm, then i go to service shop and the shopkeeper said there is problem with the software, and they can't fix my phone, please anyone tell me how to solve this problem, i just don't want to take my phone to Nokia Service Center cause i heard many negative review to Nokia SC in my country Sorry if my english bad

 • have been using this phone for over a year...still got google security update and performance still good. but recently I have been having the reboot issue when battery is down to 50% or when I use the camera apps, and also the sounds stutter at some apps. I will try to replace the battery and see how it goes since so far that is the only solution that I have read online.

 • I'm sad that my Nokia isn't gonna get the 10 update. I was hoping may be, just maybe HMD global might give the Nokia 8 a suprising update since it's their first flagship. But well they kept their promise (except for the much awaited camera update) by giving Nokia 8 two major updates and monthly security patches up to three years which is still going on.

 • I was on Pie, from where I downgraded to Oreo the problem persisted, then I again downgraded to Nougat and the issue is same, I play a game or video it starts to stutter, even if the video is streaming online or downloaded and being played with whatsapp. I initially thought it was software issue but it seems that I was wrong, I wasted too many hours and bandwidth just downgrading. Now the issue is that I have voided my warranty by unlocking the bootloader, what are my options as someone said they have gotten the battery replaced. How much does it costs, I am 100% sure that its battery issue as when I plug in the charger then all goes fine.

 • Another one complaing about nothing. HMD never promised a lifetime system updates. Also, nokia 8 is not in the android one program like sirocco. And lagging? I do not know what to say about that, never lagged on me.

 • It not only lags in SIMPLE apps (AliExpress, eBay...), it turns off by itself sometimes (Google Assistant is off). Also, it makes me more angry that Nokia 8 will not have Android 10 update (I want to throw it in trash!), but 8 Sirocco will! Good thing that I'll upgrade to Samsung S10+ soon. Nokia, please, follow OnePlus example (OnePlus 3T update).

 • May I know how to increase the battery life on my nokia 8?

 • Just discovered it now from quora. In case you want to stay on default launcher, just look for it on the settings>app>quickstep launcher> clear data/cache. I did both.

 • Tip: For better battery, I suggest: (i) Turn on Battery saver mode. (ii) Turn off Location, Hotspot, Bluetooth, Mobile Data when not in use. (iii) Turn off useless services from Settings, like Auto Sync, Face Unlock and Scans (including WiFi scanning, Auto Update & Google Play Protect). (iv) Review App Permissions and Notification Access of apps. Turn off the ones that needed. (v) Try All-in-One Toolbox. You'll want to disable a few things in its settings, but Auto Boost at Screen on and Boot Speedup are useful. (vi) Lower its Display Resolution using ADB. It manages heating well, but just for your knowledge: Turn off Hotspot, Location, Mobile Data, Bluetooth. Don't play games while charging or just use a lower watt charger. Lett your phone cool down after charging.

 • 1 YEAR REVIEW: 1. Performance: It plays PUBG on Ultra HD without lag. Ultra HD is unlocked by default, without GFX Tool. 2. Heating: Heat management is very good. It only starts throttling if you play PUBG on Ultra HD for 3+ hours. That's good because Pocofone F1 has liquid cooling technology and still heats up at HDR (lower graphics) after 3 hours of PUBG. 3. Quality: It's very durable. In my 1 year use, I haven't faced a single problem. It has been dropped number of times but hasn't suffered any damage. 4. Camera: It's excellent. If I must compare its camera quality, I'd compare it with minimum of iPhone 8 or 8 Plus - leagues better than iPhone 7 Plus. But you must install Gcam because its default camera app is very poor. I found (P3v11_GoogleCamera_6.2.024.apk) to take best pictures. 5. Battery: Its battery is good for a 3100 mAh battery phone. It can last till bedtime if you don't play battery demanding games for long. In PUBG, it lasts 6+ hours if you do the following settings in GFX Tool. Otherwise, it lasts 4-5 hours. Resolution: 960x540 (it's sharp) or 1024x576 Graphics: Smooth HD (So Smooth for best battery) FPS: Your choice (30 for battery). Anti-aliasing: Disable Styles: Your choice. Render Quality: Low Texture Quality: Low Effects Quality: Default Improvement for Effects: Default Objects LOD Distance: Medium Foliage LOD Distance: Medium (Players aren't affected) Color Format: 32-bit Detail Mode: Low Light Effects: Disable GPU Optimisation: Enable Sound Quality: Your choice. Save Control: Enable For Shadows: Graphics: HD or Smooth HDR Render Quality: High Shadows: High or Ultra (Dark shadow) Shadow Distance: High is enough. Moving Shadows: Enable Rest as above.

 • Camera is very nice. And battery backup also not bad. The performance is super snappy for sure. If you're looking for a solid reliable phone that will run any app you throw at it and a brilliant high resolution screen even in bright sun. This is the phone

 • I want to buy this phone. Is this phone ok for camera and battery backup? Any issues? Please let me know

 • same with me

 • TTY mode are what.i no understand.

 • I have problem with this device, need solution when am using YouTube/Camera my mobile is switching off automatically can any one help me in solving this issue, I tried by format too.

 • May be...but not that hard

 • Best phone. No problems whatsoever. Been using it for more than 3 weeks. Runs all games super smooth. I also have an iPhone 7 plus. But this one is pure pleasure. Absolutely gorgeous copper frame. Super cool display. No complaints. I prefer this phone over iPhone. Super versatility.

 • I have been using Nokia 8 for more than 3 weeks now. I can safely say that this phone is absolutely fast and looks so good. I also have an iPhone 7 plus. But I love the versatility and flexibility of Android and with such a beautiful screen. You can't help loving this smooth device. All games run super smooth without any lag. About absence of tear drop camera notch and bezel less design. I really don't care. Besides this looks classier.

 • Sounds like a faulty camera, did it touched the flour? I mean, hard...

 • I have a issue with my nokia 8 device, when i open back camera it got minute vibration around camera and cant take focused pictures...any lead to resolve this issue?

 • Yeah this phone can be used for that.

 • I wanna start Uber and Bolt driving, can i use this fon ? Please recommend the best fons I can use to start my ride sharing

 • Can I use this fon for Bolt or Uber Driver device ??

 • Update: a few days ago received all the updates.

 • Yes it's worth buying but there is slight problems with the LCD panel they ghost the used apps on screen for minute or less but everything works fine and there is no more issue

 • Besides i don't think the Redmi note 7 is optimized enough to gain the full advantage of it's chipset or battery. I may be wrong though. If any of your friends have a note 7, try running antutu benchmark back to back 3-4 times and observe the thermal performance.

 • If you're fine with the design, Nokia 8 is definitely better. I've owned a nokia 8 for more than a year now and yet to encounter any irritsting issues. There's a slight problem with LCD panel, which tends to ghosting/screen retention issue. But it's not permanent or irritating. And also it's kept to a minimum after having turned the Night Light (at minimum intensity) on always. LCD panel is tuned to have a slightly cooler color tone by default, so with Night Light, you wont even notice it's on. Use Google's camera software to make use of Ziess hardware and you'l be able to take really good photos. Comparing to Redmi's camera, I think the Nokia 8 is better.(I've only used the Redmi mote 7 for a little while) Nokia 8 is a flagship and it's one of the top performers in SD835 category. So should be the better option for gaming. A high end processor with a high res screen and it should have better thermal performance when you're playing a demanding game like PoGo.

 • I am having the same problem where the phone keeps restarting.

 • Is anyone facing a problem when the upper part of the screen is yellowish/reddish its making me worry i just bought my nokia 8 yesterday.

 • there's a sale coming out here in the Philippines tomorrow. the price was slashed down to £156. I'm thinking on buying it vs xiaomi redmi note 7 with almost the same price for a 4gb ram. I'm into Pokemon Go so outdoor gaming. I'm also planning on using multitasking screen/split screen on it and running 2 PoGo at the same time. my eyes are on nokie for its durability but thr battery is only 3000 mah.

 • Nova and Evei launcher are pretty good

 • i think it's a UI bug. Installed microsoft launcher and it didn't bother me anymore. Just install another launcher.

 • Totally. If you're okay with the following, then it's no problem. 1. Smaller screen size. Many recent phones have 5.8 inch or bigger screens. But smaller screen size makes it usable with 1 hand. 2. Smaller battery. Its battery lasts just as long as 4000 mAh battery phones in heavy usage like gaming, but in normal usage, it can't last 2 days like some 4k battery phones can. 3. Design. Recent phones with punch hole camera and notch-less display (pop-up camera) look pretty good. Other than that, it is still one of the best phones ever imo. For camera, you should download Gcam (cstark v11).

 • Is the Nokia 8 still worth buying right now (2019)? I'm in need of an upgrade and I want a phone that will last for a long time. The specs are great and some reviews proved it, but is it worth the money right now?

 • It's 500% better than stock camera. You will fall in love with its camera. It's that good!

 • Still stuck on security update of March...

 • It is a great phone, but put a bit more money ibto it and search the 128 GB storage/6 GB RAM, so the beast can be even more beasty

 • Install Accubattery from Google Play store and see if the battery health is bad. Probably your phone's battery needs replacing.

 • My Nokia phone is turning off automatically........and gives me a lot of trouble........if i open the camera then it starts to restart multiple times...... please help me to sort out the problem

 • Got Security Patch Aug'19 - India

 • It's absolutely amazing phone...I am using this product since 1 year and I haven't faced any problem till now 💪💪👍&#128077;👍

 • I brought nokia 8 before 6 mounth, its an awesome phone, nice screen awesome performance very nice camera specially when you downlod google camera, go buy it, it's so much better than samsung a50 and huawei p30 lite, remember that it made to be a flagship.

 • Just read that updates are till October 2020 !

 • Choose between Nokia 8 and Nokia 7 Plus. They're my favourite Nokia phones. Nokia 7 Plus better battery, bigger size, better design and more features in camera (camera is good too). SD 660 is capable of playing games like PUBG on high graphics. Nokia 8 is a performance beast, camera is breathtaking if you install Gcam and you can hold it in one hand. But its design isn't as appealing and battery doesn't last 1.5 day which quite a few 2019 phones do. Realme 3 Pro is another great phone. Camera is comparable iPhone 8 and better than A70, performance is better than Nokia 7 Plus and battery lasts full day. But it doesn't have NFC and needs protection against scratches - otherwise, it's durable against falls. If you want gaming beast, go for Nokia 8. If you want a balanced phone, go for Nokia 7 Plus. If you want another balanced phone with better performance, excellent and feature rich camera, go for Realme 3 Pro.

 • All I see are positive reviews. This phone was made for performance. It crushes Pocofone F1 when it comes to playing PUBG (Ultra HD with between 30-60 FPS). My friend has this phone. You might have heard its battery is bad but it lasts same as Pocofone F1 in PUBG which has a 4000 mAh battery. So either its battery is good or Pocofone F1 battery is bad. If you want to know about its camera, Google "Nokia 8 Gcam". Open the first XDA link and see picture samples shared by Nokia 8 users. Night sight mode is godly. If you install Gcam, even in 2019 its camera easily ranks in top 10 (if not top 5) in its price range. Much better than A50. If you buy another device, it should only be for reasons like "I want 2 day battery timing, I want bigger screen size, I want more appealing design, I want infrared port, etc". As someone else said, this phone is literally one of the best ever made.

 • Nokia

 • Nokia la antutu ;-)

 • Yes, it's the best phone with the best price in terms of value for money. It has a powerful high end processor, good camera ( especially if you learn how to use the professional mode), portable in the hands, has stock Android and it's well built, durable with powerful from its speaker.

 • Is nokia 8 a good phone? i have about 250usd budget. I want to get the best performance and the pure android. I have xiaomi and the miui wasn't very good so i dont wanna buy pocophone f1. i try to search another phone at $250 budget, but nokia 8 was a good phone. Pls give me your reason or other choice.

 • There is no other device in the same price class that comes near the quality of this phone.

 • If nokia 7 plus is available to be purchased, i recommend you check it out. Visit the opinions page of Nokia 7 plus and if you want to play high graphics game, Nokia 8 has a much better processor compared to 7 plus.

 • Anyone facing an issue where you cant drag the icon to move or to put to home after using some app?

 • That nokia 7 plus is worth considering though, the battery and overall design are great.

 • I am choosing what Nokia phone to buy, i was choosing on these three (Nokia 6.1, 7 Plus and the 8) Which would be better? I was looking forward to buy the 7 plus but i need info about the 8 and the 6.1 Sorry for my bad english :)

 • As a user of this phone for 3 months, I guess I do have now the right to give my opinion about this phone. I'll start with its cons: - LCD burn-in, but hey its only temporary - Battery is below average for me. I play games a lot - Bezels - Dark mode but does not apply in settings, I mean when browsing settings - My fingerprint data lost when the phone is drained to 0%, had to clear its system app's data and restart. - Bootloader cannot be unlocked thanks to its October 2018 security update Pros: - Camera (not when in low-light and more visible noise when zooming) - Performance (will warn when it gets 50°C) - Stock android, le getting fond of it - Now its cheap - Connectivity (I noticed this when playing an online game with friends. Same area, they have midrange phones, I got more bars of signals than them, with it I get better ping. This phone do not share the good ping/connection when they are connected to my hotspot, only mine was good.) Sorry for my bad grammar and I hope my opinion will prove useful.

 • Forgot to mention, you can use AccuBattery (from Play store) to get a rough idea about your battery health and voltage. If the health is below 80%, replacing the battery will solve it

 • Seems like the battery needs replacing since you're not getting any of the issues while plugged in to the charger. Li-ion batteries degrades over time making the battery unable to supply required current at the voltage range your phone needs. Is there any other repair shop around your area to check if the problem is with the motherboard or just the battery? And if the motherboard needs replacing, i think you should be better with buying off a new phone for that money as Carol suggested. Or try to purchase a device with cracked display and use it to do the repair. Still I think you should be good to go with a battery replacement. On ebay batteries are available from around 12 US$ onwards.

 • It is not commun, but with those money you can buy a new one, at least i think so. So nope, i would not pay for that.

 • I bought Nokia 8 in December 2017. After using it for 1.5 year, it randomly restarted 6-7 times in row. It will restart maybe once, or 10 times in a day. It is mostly restarting when I open camera app. Although this doesn't happen when I am charging the phone. It only happens when I am not charging the phone. There's also a sound issue where the sound freezes or is not audible when the volume is full. Again, it doesn't happen when I am charging the phone. I tried resetting the phone several times. Last week, I sent it to the shop. He first said that it's a battery issue and today he told me it's a motherboard issue and I need to replace the motherboard. My phone just lost warranty in December 2018. It will cost me 16k Rupees to fix my phone. I don't know if the shopkeeper is lying or not. Any help will be appreciated. Let me know if this issue is common in Nokia 8 and what should I do next.

 • Bought it on February for just 200€ (6GB 128GB version), it is fast, and it has a great camera. My last phone was an iPhone 8, and this has a better camera and screen. Battery last me all day, 50% bright. It has usb c and wireless charging. It is fast, very fast. I dont miss my iPhone, this has Android 9 stock, with no bloatware, and the lates security updates evert month.

 • 99% of the negative comments never used this device. A problem to be met all over Nokia devices comment sections. So that pretty much sums it all up. The device is great, i had it for 1 and a half years and now i gave it to my sister and will go for another 2 years for no problems , for sure (what can i say i'm on the 9 pureview):D.

 • Please post after update, is it working fine? Any difference.

 • Honestly for 120$ it's a remarkable phone even for photography, a samsung galaxy J2 pro costs that much here.

 • I have an IMEI SV of 63 after receiving the latest July patches a few minutes ago

 • It's selling for $120 USD now and I'm so tempted but the negative comments here is putting me off.

 • I just bought this phone and upon opening, a series of updates has been done before I able to use it for the first time. Upon checking the IMEI SV, the value is 62. Anybody who has the same value of IMEI SV on their phones?

 • I think it ia a geeat deal. It is the best all around phone you can choose in a budget like this. I've got mine with 170 $ with 1 and a half year guarantee, in order to replace my Samsung J5 2017. I am very pleased with my decision: I've wanted a small phone (to be able to use it with one hand), with good cameras and fast processor. So, yes, it ia worth it even in 2019. At least in my oppinion. :)

 • After turning on Blue light filter (at minimum intensity) image retention/ghosting never happened in my device. Blue light filter at minimum intensity seems to fix the slight blue-ish-ness of the panel as well.

 • image retention gets worst as the years go by, this phone uses LG panel

 • Yes. As someone else said, SD 835 is best you can get in this price and this chipset is good enough to play PUBG on Ultra HD which is maximum graphics pubg has. It has Stock Android which means it's not overburdened like MIUI, Color OS or other heavy OS. This gives you better performance and battery. For example, Pocofone F1 which is a flagship phone, can only handle pubg up to FHD even though it has SD 845. Its battery isn't bad, just small capacity. It's endurance is actually good for 3000 mAh battery. Pocofone F1 and Realme 3 Pro have 4000 mAh battery and they last about same amount of time (about 5 hours) in PUBG. And since you'll have a power bank, you'll have no problem. Its default camera isn't good but if you install Gcam, it takes better pictures than most $300 devices out there. Google "Nokia 8 Gcam" and then open the link of XDA website. You'll find Gcam links for Nokia 8 as well as users sharing their pictures taken from this phone. They are excellent. The second best device you can get in this price is Realme 3 Pro. It's overall better as it has many features and latest OS but Nokia 8 is much better for gaming. Nokia 8 does have some advantages like - Better display experience (but smaller screen) - Water and dust resistance which pretty much no phone has in this price with these specs. - Realme 3 Pro doesn't have water resistance but it worked fine after being placed in water for an hour, but it gets scratches if you don't use case and tempered glass. - Realme 3 Pro worked fine after being dropped from 10 feet height 6 times. So quality wise, both phones are great but Nokia 8 is better. There is also Motorola Z2 Force with SD 835 and you can install Moto Mods on it but that phone has screen peeling issues widely reported. If you want 6 inch screen, long battery, Stock Android and something that can handle PUBG on HD/FHD graphics, then there is also Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2. - Battery lasts up to 7 hours in pubg. - Quality is similar to Realme 3 Pro but better scratch resistance. - But it's chipset is way below Nokia 8 and Realme 3 Pro. - And you can't play Fortnite on it. Realme 3 is another such device. It's the cheapest device that can handle pubg on HD graphics. But it has HD resolution and low ppi on 6' screen, so display experience isn't good. If your top priority is gaming, I can guarantee there is no better device than Nokia 8 for gaming in this price.

 • For 220$ you won't be getting any better processor than SD835. Well if you're searching for reasons not to buy Nokia 8, it won't be getting any more major Android updates. No wireless charging. Only ip54 water and dust resistance. Classic 16:9 panel (may be a good thing depending on who you ask). What else is available for 200$? Redmi note 7?

 • Should i buy this? I want a gaming phone probably about 4 million rupiah (222.22usd). I know this phone have bad battery life but i would have a powerbank if i have nokia 8. I saw all review (even jerryrig video) and im very intrested. Please give me a reason to not buy this phone (except battrey life and camera)

 • Is the Nokia 8 worth it in 2019 for $220 new? I'm choosing between The Nokia 8, Honor Play, Honor 10, or Realme 3 Pro.

 • From where

 • Believe it or not, this phone can take breathtaking pictures. But you've to install Gcam. Try this one: Cstark Pixel 3 gcam v11.

 • By typing *#06# from dialer, IMEI 1 & 2 numbers will appear. Anybody has a value of / 62 or greater on the two digits?

 • If you key-in *#06# from the dialer, it will show the IMEI1 & 2 together with SN. Anybody who has a value of 62 or greater on the last 2 digits of the IMEI1 & 2?

 • Use the professional mode

 • At it's launch was 540€ now, in 2019, is 240 it is actually ok, look at samesung.

 • HMD global made a mess of it!

 • Nope, you're stuck with the default resolution (QHD) and default color profile. (if it appears a but too blue-ish, try turning on the blue light filtor with its intensity at minimum level, which also helps with the image ghosting issues of the lcd panel)

 • If youre looking for a better photography, buy a digital/optical camera. Phones are basically for calls and texts, and cameras are just added features. Besides, this is just a midranger..what do you expect from it, its not a flagship phone.

 • In all honesty here I am in genuine shock at how fast this phone depreciated!

 • Is there any way to adjust the display settings on the phone? resolution and the like?

 • I could call it, bad luck. My device still stays stron after almost 2 years.

 • Me neither, it's been 16 months here

 • Sorry, I haven't had any problems at all, no bugs, no restarting, camera is okay. So I'm a happy new Nokia user. I use my Nokia 8 for 5 months now.

 • I haven't had any pr

 • Namasthe, Don't feel bad, it is just an electronic gadget not life (It may dead at any point of time). However this is a Good phone for the price also for the feature+Quality ( when it comes to spare part, price are too high, because of Quality ).

 • I miss the old days when Nokia had really solid phones. I bought my Nokia 8 last year and within the first month i had to return it and replace the sound speaker cause of the buzzing and crackling sounds. A few months later after a fall the screen completely crashed and I had to take it for a complete replacement. Then i had a problem with it going off completely, that was fixed again, and yesterday I experienced the same problem. It just went off and won't turn back on at all. I have spent more funds in repairing the phone than what i spent buying it. Is it just me experience a ton of problems with Nokia 8 or it's a general problem with these phones. I am completely disappointed.

 • Thank you

 • Yeah the battery life is pretty good. But the camera isn't that great. Installing GCam will make it pretty good. And do note that it's a 2017 phone which means the promised 2 years of major Android updates are expired as of now, and it'll probably only receive monthly security patches for about 9-10 months.

 • hi, I´m thinking buying a Nokia 8, my question is..... is the battery good?

 • hi, I´m thinking buying a Nokia 8, my question is..... is the battery good?

 • After June security patch? I didn't install it yet...

 • I do, I just woke up early today to be surprised by a battery heat warning notification as I charge it during sleeping. For the first time since I've go this phone I experience that problem and for the first time since then I factory reset i today.

 • Open My Phone app, go to device monitoring and then to battery health and see if the battery needs replacing. I think your problem is degraded battery making a voltage drop in the battery limiting the device performance

 • I, m using this set from last one year I have no issue till date good I bought from JARIR book store in KSA

 • What's your model ?

 • This shit keeps restarting itself

 • I installed it and it's working fine for me same as before. No visibile changes tho...

 • Got Google Security Patch 2019-06 (Yet to Install). Please update if anybody installed & is working fine or any issue.

 • I love this phone...the one is outstanding flagship phone. Everything that i need is fulfilled by this phone. Specially three things that attracted me to buy this,1st one is its laser autofocus with zeiss lens second one its ppi is very outclass and the last thing its speaker (sound) wow..i love nokia 8 sound.

 • Format tge device, you''l be amazed how many problems it solves

 • Last month, there was an update called "Biuld Update" with security updates, after giving it the phone itself is being shut down and the phone is not being used in any way, but before that I could use the phone correctly. Currently the phone is written and closed only by Nokia. If the charger is installed, the phone can be used for a little while. To solve this problem, many times the customer care has been asked for help, they say repeatedly to restart the phone, there is no solution even after restarting. If any of you know what to do now then let me know. But I have no problem with my phone battery right from my side. I think it's a problem with the software's problem they gave us the software updates.

 • Hello, I am using Nokia 8 more than an year and recently done security update. After that my phone restarts itself atleast one or two times. Also feels battery is draining. Was charged 100% at 2.00 p.m. Now while posting this it's reduce to 90%. All the settings and prechecks done for battery optimisation. I doesn't feel any change in my battery. Should I change the battery? Rest everything is fine. Well! after the update sometimes hangs. Please guide what to do?

 • Nobody understands what the h' you yalk about there, but well, a smartphone is not made only for photography, this one might not have the best camera, but it is quite a good balanced device.

 • I think you need to some doses of GCam and general knowledge. Sorry if i sounded rude, but always watch at least a couple of youtube reviews and read or ask for user opinions (from forums/websites like this) if you have any doubts before buying a smartphone.

 • Nokia 8 is the most useless phone yet it's bought in approximately ₹ 37,000 Photographs taken or photographs recorded from this are of very poor quality. Nokia has taken undue advantage of its brand name only by selling its goods to people It is so expensive that only the man takes the same person who is fond of photography or else the phone gets very good to talk about 10000, only one to take so expensive phones It is said that photography will be the best and writing a false review is of no use. This product has a basic problem. Its photo quality is similar to the Rs. 3000 or ₹ 4000 mobile phone if it is not believed, then you can check anywhere Carl zeiss There is no use of applying lens; this is the only way of promotion

 • It's still running Android Oreo? The update to 9 Pie should be available. Try to manually search for updates but I'm sure you already did that. Did you try a hard reset? Make sure to make a back up first.

 • What do I have to do to get more updates? My last update is from December 1st 2018, oreo 8.1.0. Anyway, is this phone future-proof?

 • I have downloaded many google cam app, and none of them works well, where did you download yours?

 • I'm using the Nokia 8 for 4 months now, facing no problems at all, camera okay, speed okay and quick with security updates. Every thing is working smooth. I' m using the 4GB version, wanted the 6 GB, but couldn't find it on the internet, nevertheless is very quick switching between apps and so on.

 • That is a android function... of course.

 • Is it possible to block unknown incoming call?

 • Hey, if you are ok with the bigger bazells, anand are not sucker for trend, then yeah, i recomand this device hands down, especially at this price this days. I would recomand you the 6GB RAM version,

 • Anyone else facing heating issue around 45°C -48°C on both cpu and battery? Is it the update or the phone?

 • Some are reporting problem for Nokia 8 2017. May be Defective on arrival or bought from third party refurbish vendor. My device is end to end perfect with Pure OS.

 • The problem I had with Nokia 8 before I sold the phone Screen retention Phone rebooting when phone is below 30% Speaker sound cracking when kept to the loudest Putting on camera means my phone rebooting I could not take pictures

 • Hi, around this month i'm going to chance my old Huawei p9 lite and after reading soem opinions, im loving this phone, can you reommend me buying this phone?, i do not use it much for gaming but i do a lot of multitasking becasue fo work and multimedia. Thanks

 • I have a Nokia 8 and I cannot find fault with it. It is on Android 9 and has just got the May security update so I find the ‘don’t buy’ comments unhelpful. My phone TA-1012 (UK).

 • Or learn how to use android... My Nokia 8 was stellar and still is from the beginning, hack now is even better then it was at the beginning.

 • I would stay away from the Nokia, there is a high risk that OS updates coming from Nokia are not adequately testet and will brick your phone or parts of it. And their after-sales service is far below anything I have experienced elsewhere, you can forget about getting things fixed. All you can do is wait a few month for them to release a new update that hopefully fixes the problem without introducing a new one. So don't buy a Nokia unless your have a backup phone you can switch to when the Nokia gets bugged down.

 • My dear Friend, my device done some circus when i updated gcam app ( Nokia 8 camera is good bad when you want to click immd pic ) . please provide valuable information who needs. Thanks

 • Yeah, don't mind the crazy with hardware "kaput". But olsdo not think will improve your camera 180 degrees, ain't gonna happen. If you want it, don't trust nothing but xda developers links, i cannot help you with them, cause this site won't let the post. But search for gcam nokia 8 portxda if you want it. You also beed to sideload.

 • Haha, good one... nope.

 • Lol, are you joking.... Google camera is far far far superior than nokia cam, in every aspect... Millions of mobile users worldwide using Google camera without any problem...

 • Thank you for the info. I will stick with the native app. All the best. :).

 • No, Do not install from web, it may harm your camera hardware!!!

 • Google camera app is available in Nokia 8?

 • Got May'19 Security Patch - in Bharat (India)

 • As far as i know, the long discussed super camera software was more a users wish then an actuall fact. At the end, the camera app works. Some say is not that good as the google camera, but all i see in google canera is more post processing, the pics are actually the same(in my opinion). So their is nothing to fix.

 • after use 1 year..phone goes to restart in every time ..battery was nt supported to android 9. So finally i replaced the battery :(

 • I don't think it'll arrive

 • When the long discussed camera update coming? I got pie but the camera is the same.

 • That is all up to you. Clean android vs a lot of blotware, the rest is hardware. If you like Nokia 8, go for it, epecially the 126 GB with 6GB RAM version. It is faster then s8. Also, the screen consumes less battery. Believe me, no matter what people say, amold eats way more battery especially on android, where their is no black background. dark mode still lights up the pixels so no battery savings their. At the end? Design. this might be a drawback for some, screen body ratio, bla bla bla. But that is a thing only you can decide.

 • As far as i know? Nope.

 • Nokia 8 receive android 10 ?

 • Thanks 👍

 • S8

 • Please between nokia 8 & galaxy S8 which one is better? Because I'm confused on which one to buy! Thank you all in anticipation of your answers

 • Please between N8 & galaxy S8 which one is better? I'M confused on which one to buy! Thank you in anticipation of your answers

 • I found out this simple solution to get updates, remove your sim card and insert inactive sim card then connect to wifi then should find updates available

 • thanks a lot .... i bought the phone .... you are right .... amazing mob

 • Germany

 • Nice! Which country?

 • Nokia 8 has Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and Bluetooth 5.0 ,So it's support AptX HD too.

 • You, i received it too.

 • Just got the 2nd Pie update (V5.150) with the Apr'19 Patch!

 • Got 2nd Pie update (V5.150) with Apr'19 Patch,, Installing now .....

 • Please tell me if the factory reset helped or not with the updates. Mine is also stucked at January 1, 2019 security patch version.

 • Thanks a lot for the advice!

 • Factory resets can help a lot especially with glitches and errors. But as you saw, it will delete everything and set all the system back to factory. so, if you have not allowed google to backup your data( i never do) you will need to save you data manually

 • Nokia 8 is compact and have flagship processor. It is very fast and fluid, also good on multitasking and gaming

 • Nope, I haven't made the factory reset! What does that mean? What would/could I lose with the factory reset: app's, contacts, photos or ...? On my phone it says: erase all data (factory reset)!!! Should I do that?

 • Nokia says it has released April security updates for Nokia 8 but mine is still on March security patch. Has anyone received the April security patch for Nokia 8?

 • Sa'esung is packed good, but Nokia 8 has better cpu and clean droid. The performance difference will be visible but at the end, it is all about what you care for, design, battery lfie (assuming samsung hass better battery life... it does not have to be like that tough, minding the fact it has a lot of bloatware). So Nokia 8 was a great flagship, theonly complain would be the camera ( it is a good one and with it you can actually achive great shots but let's say is not a pureview), but i doubt A70 has a great one. So at the end is up to you.

 • Ok,maybe your device got stucked somewhere. It sound awfull but you probably need to factory reset. Have you done that?

 • I'm hesitating between buying nokia 8 or samsung A70 which better ?? please ... users recommends ?? thanks

 • Nokia 8 is better (super fast ) than any mobile.

 • I. Ve tried with but does not work. Maybe I'm doing something wrong...

 • Nokia 8 or Xperia xz1?

 • Use a VPN to west europe. You should receive the 'arch Update. April security patch is not outyet.

 • Thanks my dear but nokia 9 has 5 amazing camera iam concerned about camera and sharpness

 • Still stuck wirh January security patch and no second Pie update!! Bought in Greece, using the Nokia 8 in North Macedonia.. Nokia please advise when Pie 2 and April patch??? Any feedback?

 • That's up too you. As i now, have them both i can make a small comparison. As i always used amoled displays (or better said, i always had devices with amoled) nokia 8 was refreshing and was the best battery life i have ever had in a smartphone. As i started to use the 9, when i realised again, the flows in amoled. Everybody sais, more battery out of it. In reallity is less. Nothing is so black to really save battery. In android everything is way to white, let's just say 80% of the whole use is on a white "page" which clearly eats more battery with amoled. I do not care what amoled lovers have to say, we stare most of the time at white or colored pages/images and amoled won't help the battery in this situations. So, battery life is actually better on Nokia 8, not by much, but an hour more, counts. Camera is better on the 9, but has some glitches, if you are not the patience type of guy, who waits for improvements i would stair you out of the decision to buy the 9. It has some rough softwares going on. It gets better with the time, but i know, not everybody likes the idea. So this is something you should consider, nokia 9 is still in beta and a niche product. Do not get me wrong, the system part is stable, the camera softwae is raugh, and the fingerprint reader is not quite there where it should. On the whole, nokia 9 is better but nokia 8 is also great and because of it's aluminium rear, feals more sturdy(like a rock). As of day to day Performance there is no "wow" difference between the 2, as nokia 8 is quite a fast deviice, that thing does not joke. So the 9 makes that speedness a little bit more refined, half a second faster with smoother transactions, nothing really out of ordinary. I never play,so i cannot tell you the performance it gains while in more hard tasks, i presume there will be a bigger difference. Now, at tge end, it is your choice.

 • Nokia 9 is of course better but this phone is sturdy and reliable, and a lot cheaper. It’s a very good phone to buy.

 • Please iam about to buy this phone is it better or nokia 9

 • The Nokia 8 is powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor. That alone is the selling point at least for people looking for an affordable flagship phone with 2K display, the Nokia 8 is the best buy.

 • Nokia 8 very Best phone Camra net speed snapdragon 835

 • Because not all apps support screen split

 • nice phone,,classic,compact,fast

 • What do you mean by it doesn't work with Google apps? I'm right now typing this with Google Chrome and Photos opened in split screen mode. I can't see any issues here!

 • The good thing is that global Nokia phones are all released with full android one now

 • Yes, there is a problem...

 • I think next time I will get a full android one Nokia rather than the one on the Nokia 8. Anyone with Android pie have problems with split screen app functionality? It just doesn't work with any Google app.

 • Nokia 8 support APTX HD ?

 • I changed battery... Now it's fine

 • Maybe you have a virus, or an app that causes the problem. Never had mine turning off. Try to factory reset? It always helps to crush update related bugs

 • Yesterday I had this Nokia 8 device, after falling on concrete from 2 feet up, there was no damage, I did not have much more satisfied with this phone's duriblity.

 • Already I get Google security patch (march 2019)

 • super performance, very good for multitasking and gaming. The camera is also good

 • My Nokia 8 restarting very often ..who have a problem like to this

 • Maybe for you, i am pretty sure, nokia 8 is not the only one.

 • This is not a normally things I have used a lot of phones with LCD and Nokia 8 is the first phone to have screen retention

 • Which country?

 • Very good phone, glad to have it

 • Does anyone have a problem with the reception of the local carrier signal. I always have a dropped call or weird voice during calls. I think there is a problem with the mobile modem or antenna.

 • Night screen.... Yellow circle with a shadow of an owl...

 • May be it's a temporary solution, but for me it works from last 5-6 months... And it works fine..... And regarding display replacement, the burning problem will come back again, definitely...You may follow the community forum...

 • So the march update 2019 will come next week, nokia says. I hope they include fixes in this time, like voWIFI feature that was disabled in some carriers.

 • This was always like that, since i bought it. Not cool, but well....

 • Youp, more exactly is a fault of lcd desplays, like amoled has it's own cons. The difference is lcd recover, while amoleds stay like that. I do not have ghosting, but i receive those change of tint on the edges.when that happens, i turn the light to max for 10 mins and everything goes back to normal.

 • It's a hardware Issue Nokia service centre has confirmed it and software solution is just temporary

 • When I am recording a video with the default camera app on the Nokia 8 I can't pause the video. There is no pause button but only stop button in the camera app. I want to know if the fault is from my device or is a general problem.

 • 7 plus has received an update with auto changing wallpaper magazine for the lockscreen. So may b they're cooking something for N8 too! Or they may be busy fixing the bugs of Nokia 9 preview xD

 • I think they promised a better camera algorithm with the new pie update they did not deliever, maybe they want to pack it in the security update. I do not know, is kind of strange tough.

 • Any plan to release march security update for this device

 • Classic design and great performance

 • I'm beginning to think that HMD has forgotten about the Nokia 8. If they're Indeed busy with the Nokia 9 why have they updated the other Nokia phones (Nokia 7 plus and others) with the March security patch.

 • We will probably receive it, if not straight the april one. I have a fealing they are stressed with nokia 9 buggs. Even tough, a security update should not be a problem, maybe they pack some other bug fixes inside? I do not know.

 • You mean Blue light filter or Night lite ??? I have same issue with the screen. Meroon hue and screen retention and ghosting

 • No not yet ..... Still waiting for an update. Nokia is late this time. Even my Huawei Mate 10 lite recieved an update a week before

 • Guys, did anyone receive the March security update? Any ideas on whether we'll receive the update or not?

 • The performance and camera of this phone are great. glad to have it

 • No

 • Nokia 8 receive android Q ?

 • It's not an hardware issue.... Can be easily fixed with NIGHT SCREEN apps.... You have to run the apps all the time and just reduce the brightness to 85 to 90..

 • You're welcome.

 • Speed, quality, durability are the reasons for me to choose this phone. I just had this question in my mind and you gave the answer. Thank you very much. Have a nice day.

 • Wifi drains battery on standby 4% per hour on Android pie Any solutions please ?

 • Android Piehas nothing to do with the apps in store. So yeah, you can turn dark mode on in every app that has such thing. Android pie has no dark mode in settings menu, but their is a pseudo dark mode that activates for the notifications panel, messages and contacts, and who knows in the future? As for android Q... As far as i know, android pie is the last system update for Nokia 8. But will receive security updates for another year. In my opinion, i would buy this device again, for the price even better. So, i would recomand it for the speed and quallity,

 • Hi. I'm planning to buy Nokia 8 but do you think it will be upgraded to Android Q? I care about it because of dark mode. I use a very old Android phone now, so I don't know how it works on Android Pie. Am I going to be able to use dark mode for every application on Android Pie as effective as Android Q? Does Android Pie support the dark mode version of all applications in Google Play Store? How much difference do you think there will be between two OS version? Thanks in advance.

 • I'm surprise myself, we're in April and no March update

 • I do not know, maybe they pack some patching in it as well? Anyway, i would be more interested in that then in this security updates. I am pretty sure, i am not under constant hackers attack...

 • Super fast phone, very good for mutitasking and gaming, love it

 • Today 31 march, but why security update of march?

 • today 31 march, why security update of march?

 • At the price, is the best device that has ever been made in the mobile history.

 • My device never rebooted ob it's self. But it can be a bug ind that app or between the app and phone connection. By something like this, is really hard to tell without logs. In the same time, the problem.can be cause by somethin else. Stop usig that app for a while and see if it is truly the one responsible for the problems.

 • You're right... The north and south are reversed in my nokia 8 too and it started after the android pie update.. I tried speaking to the nokia support too about it, but they just give all lame responses... Am still waiting for the march security patch, and REALLY hoping they fix this shit coz am totally dependent on navigation and this north south reversal is just killin me..

 • I am using this Nokia 8 for 14 months now. Very happy that got 9 pai update. Only thing is improvement in camera is required. All the other things r perfectly fine

 • Love this phone very much

 • Not yet! They're busy fixing Nokia 9 issues like sluggish fingerprint scanner and camera crashing!

 • Has anyone receive the March security update for the Nokia 8?

 • Anyone get the occasional rebooting of the phone? I listen to podcasts through Google play music and maybe once a week the phone will crash and reboot. I don't know if the issue is with the app or phone.

 • You are using a dak

 • Have this phone for more then one month. Came from Microsoft Lumia 950. Very smooth, no lags, very fast, battery lasts for two days (using mail check, WhatsApp, Facebook, internet searches, making photos) One minor point is camera using with less light. No one minor point I've noticed more yet.

 • Very silk metalic back hardly has grip, Dont want to drop thrice within 24 hours and get it damaged, Before start using this phone case and screen protector is mandatory

 • It freezes randomly, not seeing notification on whatsapp call and IMO calls randomly. Phone is heating up on video calls of 15 minutes selfie camera is plus

 • Very glad to have this phone

 • Some of the Nokia Phones are not (support) True 4G In India, Please check before buy. Nokia care is a pathetic service now...

 • World's number one bad phone it is

 • I have being using Nokia 8 for more than a year till now no issues. There built quality is just amazing .. hardware is really tough and rigid ..

 • Best phone i've used so far, it's a complete packaged

 • I have problem whit security update.Last security update i have is december 2018 and just android 8.1. I am from Romania. This is the last nokia phone than i ever used.

 • Just to be clear, I own a Nokia 8 for about 13 months and no problems here. Just screen retention or ghosting. I have accidentally dropes it once from chest height but nothing happened (i had a tpu case, a very thin one) May be it's the Europe region that's affected. I've heard reports of delayed security updates and stuff.

 • Mine is worst : my compass became erratic ! Very disapointing ! :-(

 • Regarging the camera, you can improve your photos thanks to the numerous ports of the camera software of Pixel ("gcam"). Read (and read the comments). I'm using the port of GCAM provided here . My cam is much better now. Regarding the quality of voice, I got a problem with as well. I send my phone (under warranty) to their service center. They found a malfunctioning component and replace it. Everything is good now.

 • Anyone know when pie part 2 is coming?

 • The only problem I have is the screen retention issue

 • Enjoying my Nokia 8 now for the sixth month. It's the best Nokia phone ever. Though not being able to use mirror cast unless I use Chromecast to connect with my WebOs TV.

 • This phone is very fast, the camera is also good

 • I have nokia 8 for 6 month and havent any problem very good phone for money

 • AVOID NOKIA AS THEY OFFER POOR QUALITY OF THE PHONES AND SERVICES! DO NOT BUY NOKIA 8 OR ANY OTHER NOKIA PHONE! I trusted the brand and now I m very disappointed. Their phones have major hardware issues and HMD doesn t care about their customers. The camera broke down after just one drop. I had to replace the broken screen after the second drop. The repair was done in Nokia s repair center in Hungary. It was very expensive as the warranty was not accepted in Europe (bought the phone on amazon.com). But that s not the last problem. After just a few months, the new display suddenly and during normal use just went off. Without any physical damage, the screen stays black like when the phone is off. No matter what I do, the screen simply doesn t work. New screen, as Nokia claims they installed. Now they refuse to even accept the phone in service, even if I want to pay for it. The reason is the phone was not activated in Europe. They don t even want to investigate what happened with the screen. AVOID NOKIA AS THEY OFFER VERY POOR QUALITY OF THE PHONES AND SERVICES.

 • I tried and do not work. Tnks anyway.

 • Just install any VPN application and change to country to some othe country (eg : India). Go back to settings and check for updates. It should show up the new OTA update

 • Very good phone

 • Don't worry, is nothing very interesti.g about it.

 • I am from romania, and don t recived uptate from android pie. I stil have android 8.1. :(

 • Hello, Any option to control ring volume up & down throw the side buttons without entering the sound settings?

 • This phone is very fast and fluid

 • is this single SIM only?

 • I have Nokia 8 for more than one year ... The best phone I ever had, very good quality and performance ... very good sound and camera ... easy to handle ... Thank you Nokia you are the King of all Mobile Manufacturers and for ever will be .

 • worst phone ever, never buy nokia, really bad quality for camera, hangs a lot, bad sound quality when on call Worst phone ever, never waste your money on this.

 • Greatest snapdragon 835 phone

 • When I make a call,The sound is VERY weak HELP ME

 • Do you mean that the compass function is working on your Nokia 8? On many phones, North and South are reversed.

 • I basically love my Nokia 8, but my goodness, HMD Global have really made a mess of the excellent hardware. The firmware/softwate is NOT up to scratch. Android 9 Pie has totally messed up the compass, with North and South reversed, but not East and West. The stock camera has various issues, including 3 seconds to focus / adjust exposure of your shot before the camera reverts to default. Video sound has clicks, unless you record a couple of test videos before filming what you want. Filming in 4K produces good video with full field of view - it uses Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). BUT if you film in 720p or 1080p, the app uses Electronic IS (EIS), which vastly reduces the field of view (the proportion of what YOU see and what the CAMERA records. THE PHONE ITSELF, however, can use use OIS in all three resolutions. This is obvious when using Filmic Pro, an excellent 3rd party app. The Nokia 8 fulfills all the requirements of the latest Android version this app, which is used by professionals. NOKIA 8 = SUPERB KIT, AMATEUR FIRM- & SOFTWARE.

 • Hi. I am using one recommended by a German guy on the Nokia 8 discussion site. “https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/GCam_6.1.021_N7P_ test2.3.apk”. It works well, makes smaller jpeg files than the stock 8 app. The video function does not support the Nokia OZO spatial sound supported ONLY by the stock camera app. You can test the two apps in succession to find which you think is best. The jpg files get saved in the same places in memory, but where the Nokia 8 stock app 13 MP jpegs are 4160 x 3120 pixels, those taken by the Gcam app are 4158 x 3118 pixels (you can see this by swiping the photo upwards in the Photo app to reveal the megadata. Happy travels

 • I agree. No issue since Pie is installed for me.

 • Install the My Phone application from HMD Global. Your phone is under warranty. Therefore this app should enable you to send your phone to the nearest repair center. It worked for me very well (my microphone was malfunctioning).

 • I bought my Nokia 8 Dual SIM March 2018. Less than a year later the number of issues keeps on increasing. Nokia support is dismal and the people behind the chat sessions have no clue about the phone. After every firmware upgrade a new problem arises. First I lost the ability to change the preferred SIM for Calls and now with the android 9 upgrade issue is solved. Last week I was having a TC on my phone and the speaker died so currently my phone does not ring and obviously speaker does not work. Android 9 upgrade resulted in a new interesting problem, I no longer receive SMS messages on one of my SIMs, when I insert the SIM in a different phone all works perfectly. When roaming my Nokia 8 keeps on rebooting itself randomly. Unfortunately I am obliged to retire my Nokia 8 and this will be the last time I buy a Nokia phone.

 • How com you didn't receive it till now? The second part was relsed a couple of weeks ago.

 • Love this phone very much

 • You have to install a 3rd party app from the Google Play Store. I tried using a couple of apps, the sensor isn't working as it should be, my device shows West as East. But do not worry Google maps works just fine...

 • Where I can find the compass in Nokia 8 ?

 • Waiting for second pie update in Europe.

 • Awesome ! Thank you. Still waiting for my 2nd Upgrade ; )

 • I Agreed

 • Nice Phone

 • Fast and fluid phone, the build quality also very good

 • Anyone experiencing the compass bug with the pie update?

 • I actually think that is a very presonal opinion. Yes sometimes having the system.up to date, can be a bugger. When developers do not update their apps. Some apps my crash, some may not open. This has nothing to do with Nokia. The good and the bad in having the latest updates. Anyhow, i have encounter only one or two apps that were conpletly unsuable on PIe. So what apps do you use? Actually.... As for the camera, is not the greatest, Nokia had better days, but it ain't the worst, not by a mile.

 • I'm sorry to hear that. I've been using my Nokia 8 for about a year now and I haven't encountered any problems. Maybe your device is a faulty one. Go to Nokia Care and then they might be able to resolve the issue or replace the device if you're under warranty.

 • I don't know if we are using the same Nokia 8 or you are using a fake because I didn't get any of that issue

 • Super camera and super fast phone

 • ay did reset on factory delite but camera is still in chaos and som aplications and games wont work worst mobile in my life android pie destroy nokia

 • I'm still using the older pixel 2 cam for daytime shots. HDR+ for quick photos and HDR + enhanced for some extra dynamic range. Pixel 3 cam is good for night time shots with Night sight. Pixel 3 cam isnt ideal as the default camera since it's a bit slow.

 • Which version of GCAM is best for the Nokia 8. I downloaded one a while back (Arnova) but just wondering that with the Pixel 3 whether there is a new version that works even better for this phone now?

 • Youp, the bugs are crushed. Faster, and the battery seems a bit better.

 • Love this phone very much

 • I got today, more 1.5gb update

 • Hi Everyone ! Anyone received the 2nd Pie Update yet ? If yes, any improvements ? ; )

 • Well your message is pretty hard to understand. Here's what i understood: "I have updated to Android Pie and my camera is crazy. And sometimes the phone isn't responding (probably switched off - black screen) . Then i plug in the charger and after some time I'm able to boot the system but it tells me "Android system has crashed". Then if I restart the device it works fine. But the problem with the camera is still there. I texted Nokia Support and they told me the issue is with Android Pie update and I will receive another update soon fixing this problem." Well you can always hold volume up + power buttons together to force restart your phone. A System Reset might resolve your problem. (maybe something went wrong when you were updating the to Android P)

 • Great phone, it's super fast

 • ay hawe updet pi updeted my camera is crezy and sam times phone is no nothing ay put charger when is caring in some tame ay be able to boot sistem an tel me yu android sistem crash ay restart telephone and work fine but problem with camera is the same ay text suport and they tel mi ay recive update soon to fix it al mistakes android pie did with his updet bicos problem is andrpid pie

 • May be it'll get better overtime, since adaptive batery is based on machine learning..

 • I think batery optimization is messing up the fun! Nothing stays idle in the ram, even the simplest applications are being reloaded everytime i open them...

 • My camera version after update for pie is 86.9.1130.51 This accepted or old? Because camera app is weak Not like GCAM

 • Yeah along with the Android P full version

 • I always had that:D. Somewhere between 9% and 12% per Hour, depending on the tasks.

 • Indeed, nokia 8 is a super multitask handler without hanging... With nokia 8 u r gud to go.

 • I received the latest update (2nd Pie) which added the adaptive battery its really amazing how it works now .. 6.5 min / 1% Great update till now and i still check it

 • I did not accuse you of nothing. I just state a statement. And is the truth. Since you have it, you only complain about it, so there are two toughs in my head: you do not really know how to use it? Or it has some defects, or i do not know, people complain about things i never encounter in any device i had, am i so lucky? Anyway, i know in this countries the selle does not give a s'' for the customer so to take it back is probably not an option, maybe sell it? That would be an option if it causes you so many problems, as for call recording. I have one calles simple call recorder from github (or f-droid) frankly is stuters and ain't that great allover but it records. I give you the github in the next post

 • Has anyone receive the February security patch for Nokia 8 (TA-1004) model?

 • Super phone, excelent value for money

 • The phone I was using before cost me 150 dollars but was having inbuilt call recording. I said to myself I want to use original phone so I saved money till I got 450 dollars to buy this Nokia 8 in my country Ghana. And you think after using my hard earned money to buy this phone I have no right to complain if I see anything wrong with it. Maybe you're not using the Nokia 8 because if you have you will also notice that you can't record phone call. It doesn't have this basic features that even cheap phones have.

 • Frankly i am surprised you still own this device (if you actually do or ever did). Why? Well you never posted one positive tought.

 • What the nice tag price! But, android Q!! However, it doesn't matter!! Aluminum back or USB 3.1 and too many good option in 8

 • Very good phone, classy and amazing build quality

 • Anyone know when the second pie update is coming and the camera update?

 • Call recorder pro by Best App - Top Droid Team will get the job done without any issues. (I got it for free during a promo period) It has some quite useful features. I haven't seen any built in recorders in any Android device so far. Maybe it's due to legal concerns which requires to play a beep sound (really annoying) while recording the call (I had a nokia C7 and it had a built in recorder which played that beep during recording)

 • I was surprised to find out my Nokia 8 doesn't have this basic features like call recording. Is there a way of recording a call on the Nokia 8 without using a third party application. I hope someone help me. Thanks in advance

 • Very vibrant and bright screen,Good design, lightening fast, good camera, best earphones and sound, no led light, Fast updates from Nokia (Running Android 9). Nokia is the way to go.

 • It's not available in the play store. Search Gcam for nokia 8 by arnova" on google..

 • Hello i cant find google cam app in the play store. when i search for it does it have another name ? When I check my previous apps on other devices I found but it says your device is not compatible this version. any Help?

 • Welcome to the Nokia family. That's Pie part 1 you just installed. Part 2 isn't done yet. I would like you to recommend installing Google Camera on you Nokia 8 to get better image quality on your photos...

 • I just bought the Nokia 8 and got the update to Pie within 1 hour after installing and the camera update too !

 • Anyone know when we get the full pie update? I don't think that we have had the camera update and I wanted the digital well-being and battery management feature and it's not in this update.

 • I'be had the phone for 7months now .. all in all such great experience. The device is sharp classy style with great processor or time and brilliant display. Battery life is very good as well. I don't really find a phone launched (of all brands high end variants) yet that can be worthy to replace the Nokia8.

 • Check YouTube to see what it actually means

 • Over 80 percent of users of Nokia 8 have that problem you are just lucky

 • Do not reply to this :) Screen retention is screen ghosting

 • I have this phone for almost 1 year, there is no such problem like screen retention. in fact at qhd resolution the screen is very good and sharp. this phone is amazing

 • What is screen retention problem?

 • Very bad experience..Within 7 months display not working properly... sensor problem... within warranty period they are asking money.... please don't buy...

 • You would soon start having screen retention problem very soon

 • But it will cost a lot more than the old ones, i presume.

 • I'm haven't used a Sirocco. But If you can buy the Sirocco and Nokia 8 around the same price, Sirocco seems like the better choice. Sirocco should have a much better camera due to duel pixel PDAF, and brighter f1.8 aperture. And the secondary lens is a telephoto lens. And a better design than Nokia 8. I've heard HMD claimed that Sirocco is having the best snapdragon 835 processor available. (may be due to a higher clock speed/some software optimization). Ip67 water and dust resistance too. But note that Nokia 9 is just a few weeks away. (rumoured to have a penta lens camera)

 • Just have this phone for 2 days, everything just went very great, this phone is great on all aspect, love it very much

 • wors phone in my life dont bay it this phoneis garbage nokia is no past for midle clase this phone cheap class nokia not now what is fleship is and newer wona now

 • What camera is better Nokia 8 or Nokia 8 sirocco? :) i'm confused :S

 • IMO,the camera is very good,,this is a very solid phone

 • Suddenly, the finger sensor can't work, and when open it by pin number and go to setting, I didn't found my finger setting, some one have this problem?!

 • Why not get the Google Camera Play Store?

 • You don't say?

 • Use google camera!

 • Upgrade my phone to Android pie but camera app still same old

 • I am with you

 • Nokia 8 is no.1 bad phone in the world! I am a Nokia 8 user. My experience.

 • Always on display, does it mean nokia 8 has no notification led?

 • Why not? Is up to date with everything and there are devices that pup up at this price with way less conoetitive CPU. The only "problem" would be the design that apperenty is outdated, whatever that means. I actually find it great.

 • Thanks. I guess I should not be too worried about updating to Pie then. Hopefully other bugs will be squashed as we get pie part 2.

 • No i do not have to install GCam 3 every time I use it. Did you use the "Night Sight" mode when taking photos in the dark? It captures a lot more light than the normal camera (i think). In good light Nokia camera looks much similar to the GCam unless you zoom in to see the small details in the photo. (above observations are my personal opinions: I'm no expert in photography and to be honest i don't use the camera that much xD)

 • is this okay in 2019?

 • TA - 1004

 • Well informed!

 • Thanks a lot. Installed Pixel 3 Gcam. Works well. But now no big difference (of Gcam's Night Sight) with the original Nokia cam (Pie) low light shots!? Also MUST install Gcam on every opening!?? Best, Mike

 • Thanks so much for your detailed reply!

 • I have used Locophone f1 for about an month, and I'm now using Nokia 8. My opinion, go with Nokia 8. Pixel density and brightness is way better on Nokia. It's display in general is better. Poco does have sd845 but that doesn't make any difference in daily usage, or even in gaming. Cameras are same, wifi strength same, and basically everything other is same. But huge difference is in looks. Nokia 8 (especially polished one) looks so premium compared to the plastic poco.

 • *North Macedonia

 • Just received January patch! Macedonia

 • I would go for Nokia 8 but it depends on your preferences. Nokia 8 is the perfect all rounder and great value for money. Nokia 8: Performance: PUBG on Ultra HD, Ultra Frame Rate, Realistic Mode - literally no lag at all, not even for a moment. So you can rest assure about its performance. Many flagship phones fail to do that. Battery: - With 50% Brightness, PUBG lasts around 5 hours with the settings above. And 7-8 hours in other heavy online games like Identity V. - On normal usage consisting of: (Indoor+Outdoor) 4 hours of YouTube 2 hours of PUBG 2 hours of Facebook Messaging and calls on various apps (WhatsApp, Messenger, LINE, Instagram, Network calls) It lasts about 1.5 days. Built Quality: I don't have any complaints about it nor do I see anyone else complaining, so its built quality is above satisfactory. In fact, this phone is among those with least bad reviews on Gsmarena. - No heating issues even while PUBG in sunlight. - No screen issues like screen bleeding. - No GPS issues. - Smaller screen size means it needs less power to process Graphics, which means better performance and battery. It can last at least 3+ years, imo. OS: It has stock Android which rules because: - No Ads - No Bloatware - Better Performance as there is no load on its Chipset from unnecessary Ads, Bloatwares and other background and foreground processes. - Better battery for reasons stated above. - You can customise it so you only see what you want. - Nokia is known for providing OS updates for a lot of its phones. Personally, I love Stock Android. It makes a huge difference in performance, so much that Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 is one of the only phones with Snapdragon 636 that is able to run PUBG smoothly at High Graphics. Most Xiaomi have MIUI, which means ads and unnecessary power, battery and data consumption. The optimisation they *claim* to offer doesn't makes it performance better than stock android so I don't see the point in it other than playing with customers mind. Their customer support is often criticised and device quality is as you can see in their reviews. That being said, Pocophone does have a bigger screen and better normal usage battery if that appeals to you.

 • January security patch available now. No pie part 2 though

 • Have received January 2019 Security patch but no system update

 • Would you guys recommend Nokia 8 or Pocophone ? I like Nokia's 5.3 inch size a lot i think it's perfect. Can anyone give their opinion overall on usage camera and performance for the Nokia 8 who owns it?

 • Please update now

 • Same problem

 • I couldn't find any news on Pie part 2! Hopefully January security patch's unavailability is an indication of HMD working day and night on delivering the fully baked Pie with an improved camera!

 • Oh, there are more:). Next uodate will crsh a lot of them...hopefully.

 • I found a bug On home screen sometimes when I long press some icons , it shows no options for that app i.e. for uninstalling or app info

 • Thanks so much senior

 • Thanks

 • Pie changed a lot in it's way of doing things, some apps do not close priperly, sone do not display notifications properly and so on. The Developers are responsible to do some updates, some do earlier, some do not. This is pretty much the downside of having the newest system, plus the buggs that need to be crushed after the initial updates..

 • That's really strange. My battery life has dropped marginally in Pie but yours is a serious drop! Clean installation is like updating a brand new phone. Can be achieved via a few methods. Most simple method is to do a factory reset before updating and doing another reset after updating. If you have app data backed up to your google account, back up your local files (like photos, and music) to a computer/cloud (cloud might consume a lot of bandwidth) and do a system reset. Then after the resetting process is completed, there's an option (will be available in a pop up menu) to automatically set the phone as it was earlier. It takes some time depending on your broadband speed. But, i recommend that you wait until Pie part 2 update becomes available and doing a clean installation there.

 • What do you mean by clean installation? Help me because my battery which used to last for three days on Oreo can't last for one day on Pie. Thanks

 • I will bought Nokia 8, what is your recommend things that I can do, I read a high problems in Android pie, please let me know, your recommendation to update it to pie, or still in Oreo??? And what about camera, I read also with problems, please let me know this problems and it's possible solutions. Thanks in advance

 • Any option to get detailed call log by time (hours & minutes) instead of 2 hours and 3 days ago

 • What model of Nokia 8 please? Is it TA- 1004?

 • Can not get the security update on January 2019?

 • The battery is perfect on my phone. No difference between Android 9 and 8.1. But I did a clean installation and maybe all have to do this, if you have battery problem.

 • Seems like Android P has messed up the battery life. My screen on time has dropped a bit after updating too. Around 6 hours on average after Pie update. Used to be somewhere around 7 hours in Oreo. Hopefully it'll get better with the Pie-part 2

 • Can anyone advise why the double tab to wake up the screen is not working? Even its option in the settings is on.

 • My Nokia 8 battery which used to last for 3 days on Oreo can't last for even one day after pie update. Very very disappointing because I just bought the phone not up to three months. Have done factory reset and currently using only the default apps but still the same problem. Is anyone facing the same problem or can anyone help me, thanks in advance

 • Some application isn't working, but why?

 • Got it on the UK yesterday. I think I prefer Oreo. I think the battery drain seems a bit high too. Might have to do a clean install. Still waiting for the camera update and the adaptive battery feature of pie.

 • I just received pie today Kuwait 😍

 • Arnova port? Mine still works. Try installing a different version... (5.1.018.177624777.V8 is what I'm using) And the new GCam for pixel 3 with night sight also works.. Please scroll down a few pages, I think i commented some links for sites i downloaded from... Or may be you could get it directly feon XDA forums or Nokiapoweruser.com

 • Youtube music = you're a paid user right? Blue light filtration is built in to android these days. Use "Night Light toggle" (if I'm not mistaken, that should be a blue light filter) There's something else too. Can you check whether if you have turned on "Developer Mode" and restricted the number of background apps that can run at a time? You can find it on "Developer Options >> scroll down to Apps section >> there background process limit" Hope it helps :)

 • Macedonia. December patch...

 • The battery drain fast after the pie update,is very disappointing

 • The battery drain fast after the pie update

 • Where January 2019 security update?

 • Finally got the Pie! But, Google camera for Pie is not working (worked with Oreo)! Any thoughts about?

 • After chatting with Nokia mobile care and, help there didn't work out I went looking through all the settings and found pretty much what you said. Thanks for taking the time to help, hopefully more people find help here on this situation. I still have a minor issue though, locking the screen while YouTube music is on foreground with power button stops music playback with YouTube music. I'll copy paste what I sent to Nokia mobile care below, hoping others might find it useful. "Going this route, "Apps & notifications > advanced > special app access > battery optimisation > YouTube music > setting to not optimised", I was able to keep YouTube music playing in the background again. Doing those same steps for my preferred blue light filter app named "twilight" seems to keep it working too. Now, I said kind of, I still can't use power button on my phone to lock the screen while YouTube music is on foreground. But if it's on background or some other app is open I can lock the screen with power button. This is, fine, just a little hassle. Much less than background play not working."

 • Is your compass working as it should be? Can you check?

 • I am lookig to buy this phone, ia ir worth for 250€? How is performamce, battery life, cam ..overall experience

 • Still December patch

 • I've got pie yesterday and it works ok. Phone is perfect.

 • I use BlackPlayer, Google Play Music, SoundCloud and Hungama music apps. No issues here! Check from the app info menu to check whether if you've restricted the app from running in the background... Touch and hold the app you want to check, the from the pop up menu >> App info >> Advanced >> Battery >> Background restriction If it's not restricted, that means the batery optimization is making the app stop. So you'll have to go to battery optimization >> All apps >> Scroll and find the app >> touch on it >> select do not optimize This should work. Hope it helps :)

 • Hey, just checked now and it's finally available for me too! With the Security Patch for December. Never mind, I understand that a new update will add the missing features and the January security patch. Very happy with the update cycle, compared to the Samsung S7 I had before (even if Samsung started updating at a more consistent pace now).

 • I just received the pie update today, BULGARIA

 • About the pie update. I got it, and it's frustrating. My main concern is not even the battery protection (evenwell) that kills background applications. When I try to play music in background even music playback stops sometimes. Pushing the power button to lock screen automatically stops playback on some music players. But that's my main problem with the Nokia 8 Pie update. I won't list the others, Google is full of them. If you don't have the pie update yet, I would read around the web before installing it. Let's hope Nokia fixes this Pie update ^^

 • What security patch

 • I just received the pie update today

 • Me neither in Romania/Europe

 • ;(

 • Until now I didn't receive pie update here in Kuwait 😂

 • I'm I the only one who has not receive the pie update on my Nokia 8?

 • Very nice phone

 • Anyone else have voWifi and voLTE issues after upgraded to pie (did factory reset and i had the same issue as a beta tester -> send message to support for that); (Greece, TA - 1012 model, carrier Cosmote)

 • Did anyone receive January security patch? I'm starting to think HMD aren't keeping their promises :D

 • Nope camera is the same!

 • Can you tell me, is it worth this phone in 2019 ? Can you give me some positive and negative things. Thanks

 • Which Country you are from? Did they updated the camera?

 • Same

 • Mine updated to Pie as soon as I got it. The decent battery performance I mentioned is of Pie. I've no idea what it was like on Oreo. You probably installed stuff with frequent wake-locks or heavy drainage activity like high accuracy location with map tracing & hotspot.

 • Same here

 • Superb Phone !

 • Fot me is the same.

 • Neah, that thing is highly unprivate. The best would be fx file manage. No privacy invasion and a whole lot of goodies (the pro version has even.more). I tested almost everything i could in the store. Nothing can beat futures privacy and confort of this small app.

 • After updating my Nokia 8 to Android Pie, the battery drain is huge :( Anyone else experiencing this ?

 • ES File Explorer Pro is the best..

 • Very happy with this phone,,more sweet after receiving pie

 • If it's "draining massively" then obviously your phone is loaded with some bad app or apps that cause it. It can't "drain massively" unless something is WRONG. So reset your phone, be careful what you install, and don't blame the phone for something that can't possibly be a hardware problem nor a pre-loaded software problem.

 • It didn't improve on my device it's draining massively

 • Lightning fast,and reliable camera,,good work nokia

 • Update: Battery is better than it seems. It lasts 1 to 1.5 day on this sort of usage: 3-4 hours of YouTube 1 hour of Facebook 2 hours of PUBG on High - Ultra HD graphics & FPS Messaging on WhatsApp, LINE & Messenger throughout the day.

 • I do not know why would IMEI have something to do with this... This is more a career problem, network technology and bands that are used. Where is the device come from? Can the guy send you a sim card to test it in your country as roami.g? Is the simcard you are trying to insert actually good? Does it receive signal? What it means "you cannot use it" more exactly?

 • No can you tell me how?

 • have u tried custom rom ?

 • Hi guys I have questions How i can change imei for nokia 8 Because i live in Turkey and my friend from another country gave me this phone In Turkey we can't use Mobile is not restricted to the network Help me please.

 • A very good phone, the price is very reasonable for snapdragon 835 phone,,i wish the battery would be bigger, but from what i've used, the battery life is good. Nokia have make a good use of that 3000+ mah battery

 • Pie is finally out for Nokia 8 128GB model. What is now the best camera app I can get?

 • if camera quality does not concern you and you want a good device, then i would suggest nokia 8.

 • Worth it, really, I bought it for just 3.85 million rupiah (around 272 USD) Nothing comes in mind, never lagging, 10/10

 • Thanks @carol for the response, and will help greatly in deciding which to go for.

 • As i said to the other one before, it all boils up to you, your needs and your likings. Nokia 8 is a flagship, huaway is a midrager, no matter what people say, there is a differemce when it comes to speed and lags. Nokia 8 never lagged on me, but i would not bet to hight on the kirin cpu. At the end it is you who uses it, so, you decide.

 • Everything boils down to you. What do you like? What do you actually need? Speed,, battery, design? Screen, updates after android pie, hardware buttons, camera? They bouth are very good devices, is up to you. If you want the most speed posible between the duo, clearly go for nokia 8. I do not know how good nokia7+ battery is, but nokia 8 has quite a good one, well, at least mine. Camera is a battlefield so i will leave the comments out. The rest you decide.

 • Hi pals, need your help please. Which onr is better nokia 8 or huawei y9(2019)? I am a heavy user both internet and games.

 • That's for you to find out. You didn't explain what happens when you play what game(s). If you're experiencing issues in online games, I assume it's most likely because of poor internet connection. If you're experiencing issues in offline games, you either have a faulty phone or you're just lying. Also, if your games are in external storage, make sure that it's a Class 10 one (written in a circle on the card). SD cards have different speeds which are represented by classes. Class 10 has the speed of 21mbps, which is same as your device's internal storage speed. I recommended this phone to a friend in Netherlands, she has 15-20mbps internet connection & her Nokia 8 is running on Pie. I had her test some stuff. She says the camera isn't that special but it's still good enough, and other than that, it's perfect.

 • Go for Nokia 7 Plus, you have bigger screen, better camera, android one, better battery.Snapdragon 660 will do all your tasks. So Nokia 7 + is for you.

 • Hi, please i want buy either Nokia 8 or Nokia 7 plus, which one is better, between the two, in terms of general performance and processor?? Kindly advise me because i'm confused, i can't decide which is better between them???

 • What was the issue?

 • Any experience with the Google camera aplication installed on Nokia 8 Oreo or Pie?

 • Hope to get the Pie update this month

 • Thanks so much Nokia assistance has helped me to solved the problem

 • I'm sorry I tried searching for a recycle bin in Google Files app, but couldn't find it. (on a Nokia 6 running Oreo) when i deleted files, it was permanently deleting...

 • I'm on Oreo and I'm using the default file manager (files)

 • Which file manager do you use? The default one? Are you on Oreo or Pie?

 • I can't find any recycling bin on the phone

 • Are we using the same Nokia 8?? That does happen when I play games

 • All those previously deleted stuff have been moved to the recycle bin. You need to clear (empty) the recycling bin in order to completely remove those files from the storage.

 • Gamers! This phone is amazing!! It can play PUBG on ULTRA HD with ULTRA FRAME RATE settings with NO LAG AT ALL!! Its battery is also decent! On ULTRA settings of PUBG with about 50% brightness, it lasts about 5 hours. And 7-8 hours in some other heavy games

 • I'm trying to free up space on my Nokia 8 but after deleting almost 6gb of files my storage balance still remains the same as if I have not deleted anything from the phone. What is freaking me out now is that if I delete something now it asks me that my phone recycling bin is full should it delete it permanently? How can anyone please help to get my lost space back. Thanks in advance

 • When we will get Pie in Pakistan???

 • Yeah it's still here. I think it maybe related with the model number. Mine's TA-1004. Yours must be different as you don't experience that bug.

 • Nope. It's the same as oreo. (only good for the battwry drain process) ;D

 • I live in italy, i didn't get the android p update yet... I do not wanna install the beta version though... I hope i get the update soon... I got the december security patch though!!

 • Hey.... Is there any changes in glance screen notification? In oreo, you only get notifications for missed calls, messages and mail, not any other apps like messenger or whatsapp... With android P, do you get any glance screen changes?

 • Ok, the issues still persist?

 • Yeah finally got the Pie ! Agree with you on the Changes/ Improvements 👍 And i think my Battery seems to last even longer ; )

 • I did a system reset. It's not hard since I had all the app data backed up with my Google account. As soon as I did the reset and started the phone, there was an option to completely restore settings and apps. (consumed a bit of wifi bandwidth) :)

 • Welcome to the family.

 • Ok, good to know, i tested the Do not disturb issue, i do not get the problem. A lot of things might actually go better after a system reset, but i do not want to...

 • I luv switching back to Nokia 8, it still has few bugs here & there, also front camera could have been better, other than that everything is what Nokia always was in a word, "brilliant"& it's made in India too. But I still can't answer ur question cuz i don't know anything about ur other device

 • I don't know if I qualify to write a review, cuz I bought a used for 1 year. I still wanna say, I have always loved Nokia as a brand. Nokia 1610 was my first device. In Nokia 8 Nothing has changed in build quality, display is bright & colours are punchy, rear cameras are good while front camera could have been better. Overall I am loving switching back to NOKIA

 • I didn't experience that Notification staying on problem. Maybe I didn't notice. But the later stated background restriction issue is there. And if you go to DO NOT DISTURB mode settings and touch on Messages, reminders and events, settings will crash.

 • It's a hardware problem. Most of the Nokia 8 owners are experiencing it... You'll just have to live with it...

 • After some days with the Pie update (well couldn't resist)... The device is stable but has some annoying bugs. The notification has some serious problems: Like whatsapp stays now in the notification till you dismiss it, so you can write more, and senx and receive without entering the app. The problem is, after you respond and hit mark as read, well, it does not close the notification, does not react, on need to manually swipe it. The music player i have also has a notification that also has a "button" to close the player (if needed) l. The same problem, Pressing it wont close tge notification and if it is a persisten one, yoy can't swipe it either. Battery is the same, i see no difference, Battery app it seems to me does not connect trully with the apps, cause in the app i set more the half of my programs on restricted backgrpund mode, but when j go in the app information setting and battery, they are not restricted, ao you need to restrict them again... I hate when this type of problems occur. In rest, everything looks ok, some glitches here and tgere, hopefully they will be crushed with the next update.

 • LCD ghosting could be to blame, but you gotta really watch youtube videos for 24 hours to happen... at least i think so. Never had the problem but lcd's are known for it. Even tough they get it, they recover quite fast and do not burn in like amoled.

 • Guys I m facing a problem. It's like for eg, if i view youtube for a long time and then if i go to whatsapp, some traces of youtube screen was shown in whatsapp app like some ghost image. May i know whats the cause for this issue??

 • I think night mode has something to do with the dark theme that should be there but it ain't, but only for messages app and contacts. As for what i tought before i realised, Night light is something else, in case you were mistaking like me. Dark Mode is also always on, in my devices.

 • Nova 3i isn't a bad phone. But Nokia 8 is far superior to Nova 2i in every department according to my point of view. Even the camera should be better than Nova 2i. You should consider Nokia 7 plus too...

 • I didn't notice any unusual batery draining...Around 6 hours of screen on time for me as usual (yours may change due to usage habits)

 • Hello guys is want to buy this phone can you guys tell me should i go for Nova 3i or Nokia 8

 • I have Nokia 8 since over a year, Android Pie Update is available for me, but i didn't update yet, i read all your comments about Pie update, i know it changes a lot, clock on left, new improved system, but what about battery draining ? after i updated to Android 8.1 i felt the battery is draining faster than Android 7, so can anyone who is on Android 9 tell about Battery draining ? Thank you

 • Can someone check whether the Night mode is set to Always ON in developer options? I can't identify if there are any differences between always on and always off or the toggle doesn't work. Whenever i set it to always off, it reverse automatically to always on, once i exit settings menu. (maybe Android P related) Thanks in advance.

 • You have to tell us more. This kind of tell nothing. When this noise happens? Did the device felt down? Raduo waves? Get's hot? Is tge system stable? Is tgis noise their when you hear music, is lauder then the music? Did the noise appeared after the update to orero, or after a while?

 • What do you mean by static noice? A buzzing noice (like a electric current passing through) or a barely audible noice (like a pshhhh or shooooo sound)? Default earphone's impedance is 16 Ohm. If you experience a shhhh sound at low volumes, lower impedance might be the reason (i experienced that with my nokia pair of earphones). - Try plugging in a few different high quality (32 Ohm impedance) earphones to find out the noice is device related or due to a defective pair of earphones. **Try to observe if anything changes when charger is plugged in: - If the noice comes only when the charger is plugged in, that might be due to a current leak. - If the noice goes away once the charger plugged in, that might be due to a defective battery. **If you think it's software/OS related: -Do a soft reset(restart the phone), if this doesn't resolve, -Do a factory reset -Or you can update to Android P and check if the problem persists... **If nothing worked, -take the phone to a Nokia care center, they'll help :)

 • Please somebody help me! My Nokia 8 in low volume do Static Noise .. in default headphones and integrated speaker .. I have Android 8.1.0 .. Please .. in Android 7 .. it didnt happen

 • I have use this phone for 6 month, and very satisfied with the performance,,solid battery life, great camera,,it's one of the best snapdragon 835 phone

 • Yes it seems that Noki 8 + Pie + Pixel camera app is way to go. Great!

 • I already tried it out. Nightsight works. In adequate light, and steady hands you can get pretty good shots. And even in serious low light conditions, if you needed to take a photo, you can actually, but the photo comes out soft. But much better than the default camera's long exposure pro mode shot, where you can't even see what's in the photo properly. I'm not an expert, but i think it's the HDR+ processing of google which makes their camera far superior to HMD's one. Try this forum: Apk can be found at: Or It's a bit slow right now. Recommend turning off the motion photo mode.

 • Hello guys, I like this phone, but how long dies the battery last. I am a heavy user both gaming and internet.

 • And add to that, now Pixel 3's ported camera works with Night sight. So we might not need HMD's generic camera after all... Can you run short test how this Pixel camera compares to default app?

 • Carol, i have to agree with you on that. Juho Sarvikas's twitter stated that Nokia 8 will receive a major camera update boosting the camera performance. And as you've mentioned, they were premature to release the final beta as the official update part 1. But anyways, Google assistant works fine for me. Update gave a fresh look, a beautiful notification shade. I ran antutu benchmark and the performance is on par with Oreo if not improved marginally. Oreo score was 205000 and Pie score is 211000. And add to that, now Pixel 3's ported camera works with Night sight. So we might not need HMD's generic camera after all... May be this Android P is worth a shot... (may be you should watch a couple of YouTube videos to see these new visual overlays)

 • 12 hours on Android P :- +Didn't encounter any problems like random restarts or batery draining issues. Seems like the OS is stable. Nothing unusual. +New looks of the notifications and menus are great. (this can be subjective since it's a matter of personal preference) ***You can't always use hardware keys(Volume + and -) to switch between different sound profiles. But there's a new way to just "tap" to switch between "Sound On, Vibrate and Silent" modes. - I like the oreo way of switching to do not disturb mode. -The new recent app cards are meant to be used on devices with gesture nevigation. Since we have hardware keys, right now it's no so convincing. But with January full Pie features update, things might change. **also, Clock on the top left part of the screen is meant for devices with a NOTCH, since ours doesn't have a notch, it feels a bit awkwardly placed. (may subject to personal preference) Notice: It's adviced that you should factory reset your device after a major Android OS update since it will ensure long term smoothness of the OS. (not compulsory) I didn't do it, due to the fact we'll most probably receive another major update in January 2019 and i didn't encounter any hiccups, freezes or restarts. ***this thread indicates an issue with streaming hd contents from Netflix and Amazon prime (Android P related). I don't use any of those services. Youtube works fine... Feel free to ask questions if there are any... And I'll keep you guys updated if I ran into any troubles with Android P I'm from Sri Lanka (Asian). You guys will receive the update within a few days. Thanks for reading and have a nice day as always...

 • Thank you for letting us knkw. I have the uodate waiting, but am skeptic about the performance... anyway, please share the experience furh'ther

 • Great report thanks! Keep them coming

 • I'm on Android Pie. Good news = so far everything runs smoothly. Changes/improvements: + Smoothness is noticeably improved + New notification screen/style + New silent mode (different from do not disturb i guess :D) + Screenshots can be edited directly after taking them + Colorful settings menu + You can select dark or light theme as you desire + Scrolling through a text phrase you're typing is much easier now. You're getting a magnified view... * Recent apps cards are a bit different. *Camera app is not improved by any means (didn't test much though) - Time is displayed on the top left side of the screen. I prefer the top right side. Can't change the position of it (seems like that, if someone know a way, please comment, thanks in advance) So everything is pretty much like a new paint scheme over the old Oreo. Well it's not bad, in fact it looks a bit better than oreo in my eyes. I'll keep you guys updated if I ran into any problems. More comments on battery life tomorrow. Have a good day...

 • Got Dec security patch update on 19th

 • Germany here, android Pie is on waiting mode. I really do not want to download it.

 • Well, then i won't update. I am not updating just because some *** decided to accuse them of holding back the update and they got freaq mode and now want to push the updates just to proove is not true. We know is not true, HMD should play more mature, this is kind of childish reaction to some trolls. Instead of this they should have release a great statment mocking them too.

 • Where are you located? I'm in Germany and Pie is not out here yet.

 • I will update in a few hours. Need to backup my stuff first... I'll notify if there's any serious issues/bugs after updating...

 • Pie is available for me... Not sure if i should update or not...

 • Nokia 9 should be called 'Christmas savvy phone'. If released this year.

 • My Nokia 8 is doing great in performance and am fully back for Nokia. HMD all the way.

 • New features of Android P: **** so according to this, final beta = the commercial release, and it's not good! They're just trying to get us on board with Pie: a half baked Pie. This states they'll release another Pie update (probably along with January security patch) to make the features like adaptive batery, digital well-being and gesture navigation(not sure we need the last feature though) available on Nokia 8. ----in reply to Cardenza's tweet on December 19 "So, what you are saying is that we get same build as beta, withouth Pie improvements (App actions, Adaptive battery), discarding user feedback and providing partial feature set of Android 9? Very cool, thanks. I have my doubts if my next phone will be from HMD." ----Juho Sarvikas's tweeted, "Hi Cadenzza! Quality of the betalabs build was good so we are rolling it out as commmercial release now. We will do a subsequent release and introduce new features and address other feedback that we got. This immediate step is to simply get more people on Pie". According to thus source: ****While Digital Wellbeing and App actions are Android One exclusive features, Adaptive Battery needs further tuning and testing. Since Nokia 8 is not an Android One smartphone, Google didn’t make features like Digital Wellbeing and Apps actions available in the Android Pie OS build meant for it. But HMD team is closely working with Google to still make it possible though their availability in future can’t be confirmed at this stage. ........................................................................................................... Voice assistant doesn't work on Public beta:

 • Juho Sarvikas's twitter account: Enjoy the festivities with another fresh piece of 🥧 from us - this time on Nokia 8! Phased roll out of #Android 9 Pie for #Nokia8 starts today. 704 5:11 PM - Dec 19, 2018

 • Got the December security patch today...

 • No Pie yet...waiting

 • Thanks so much, much appreciated

 • Same here... Just received the Security Patch update.... No Pie yet....

 • Where did you get the info? I only received the security patch for december.

 • Pie update rolling out now... Fingers crossed

 • You must be using a full screen tempered glass with adhesive available only at the edges. I'm usiing a tempered glass with full adhesive, that means tempered glass and the touch screen is completely adhered to each other. So I'm not experiencing any issues. You might wanna get a tempered glass with full adhesive...

 • Hmm, i do not know. But i would not get my hopes to high on that. The beta has some serious issues on some devices

 • Hmm, there are verry crappy protective screens that destroy the experience, you might just have one? I have a plastic thingy, does not look that good, but well touch works, not perfectly as without, but that would be (i think) with all devices.

 • Since I put protective screen on my Nokia 8, the screen is not responsive again. Sometimes I have to touch an icon for about four times before it respond. I want to know if is not advisable to use protective screen for the Nokia 8. I hope someone help me

 • Ok nice to know Pie will be out soon. Maybe as a christmas present?

 • Disappointed with the pie in Nokia 8 and all the features it's lacking and Nokia just posted they won't be any difference in the beta update and the stable update..I don't see myself using a Nokia phone in the nearest future

 • I just bought the Nokia 8 about two days and for now what I can say is working very smoothly and perfectly.

 • Conclusion = yes, your assumption must be correct. Get a new batery. Don't make the same mistake again...

 • Yes, if also reseting the device brought nothing, there is something problematic deeper into the system. Wheather with mainboard firmware or RAM chips gone bad, or battery does not hold the same voltage causing throttling in the system

 • Same happened to my laptop. I have to plug in to achieve peak performance when battery percentage drop below 60-70 margin. Guess i made the same mistake when i was playing games for 4-5 hours without letting it cool down/charge peacefully. Well it makes sense now, charging = more heat generation, gaming = even more heat and heat = enemy of batery health. Charging + gaming = goodbye baterry. A bad battery means processor doesn't get enough current to run at its peak clockspeed, so stuttering and wierd stuff starts happening... Makes sense now :D Even the speaker issue can be explained. Speaker uses electrical current (measured in milli Amperes). The more sound you need, more current it consumes. 100% volume needs the highest current, and batery can't deliver...

 • I have this phone for a year now, and yeah, I tend to gaming and browsing through social medias while the phone is charging. It is weird, because while I'm charging and using the phone at the same time, those issues like I mentioned before doesn't happen. I'm still suspect the battery is the reason why it had caused all of those issues. I might have to take my phone to the Nokia Center to have a check.

 • I've done it. But it didn't work.

 • Did you try factory resetting the device?

 • How long you had the device? After what you said, I suspect you play a lot with the phone while charging. NOT GOOD. The device has a small problem when in fast charging state and playing. Can get touch issues hence the hanging result (i assume that is also why "at night" works, because it is out of fast charging mode, or you do not charge it at all, another issue might be the level of the screen light, even tough never heard of such issues, but one never knows). As for the speakers and the battery, depending on how old is the device, if it was always charging while gaming, the battery might actually be in not such good shape, but should not affect the speakers. That is a wierd one, and i do not know what to say about it, they might be blown speakers or software issues. So, make sure you are on the last version of android posible and do a reset/format. Backup your important data. And never do gaming while charging again. It practicaly destroys the battery (in any device).

 • I have a problem with my phone. When its about 70% and under, the speaker when I'm turn the volume to max it is distorted. When its about 40% and under, sometimes it keeps automatically reboot when I'm multitasking and lost some of the data like my fingerprints and I can't register those fingerprints again afterwards. But when I charge it, it is working like normal(still can't register my old fingerprints though). What kind of bug is this? I suspect the battery even though its health is still good. Also, it is laggy when I'm playing some games in day time. But at night, playing games is smooth asf(wtf???).

 • For the moment is in public beta testing, normaly should bot take to long from now.

 • Great phone after 3 months but when is Pie officially available?

 • It's coming with SD 845

 • Nokia 9 is expected to come with a penta lense camera and SD855. SD845 doesn't make sense now because Apple and huawei are already on faster and more efficient 7nm chips

 • I wish they consider upgrading this masterpiece with SD845 and reduced top & bottom bezels and camera module with zoom and standard wide angle. It is a very good compact device. missing 16:9 no notch a regular 5" - 5.5"display phones these days.

 • Yeah hopefully... Fingers crossed, or else I don't want Pie. I'll just have some oreo...

 • Having serious battery issues in the beta update

 • new android 9 Beta tested = 1. i Noticed that wifi calling feature is not working. 2. Some volume issues. I downloaded the official oreo 8.1 cause i have pure reception and voice over wifi is essential for me.

 • Still waiting for the Pie here ; )

 • No. There isn't. May be in full update I think.

 • Any improvements on camera picture quality?

 • I've. There isn't big changes but theme. 1. Icons in the Camera are duplicated. 2. Play Store pending issue. You need to Force stop and disable the Play Store app in Phone Setting and then enable it. 3. Noti bar icons are a bit smaller. 4. Volume and Power button feature. That's all I've noticed and I've updated it in last night. Somebody who have any other issue or changes, please let us know. Yours Sincerely.

 • Me, just signed up to Beta Labs recently.

 • Haha, the same question i wanted to ask.

 • Who has tested out the beta?

 • It happens only in start because phone is new, and it takes hardware to settle down. but i wont happen again until your battery is dying

 • Nope, normally they are released on the 15 of the Month

 • I had this issue my phone is 2 weeks old ..my battery after 1hour of use it was 69percent ..I had to drain my battery and charge it back to 100 percent ..now it's no more more draining I just hope I won't have to do this all the time

 • You got December security update??

 • People are crazy with android pie but actually for nokia 8 and all devices with hardware buttons and orero installed will not change to much, cause well, that much of an innovation is not (probably that is also why they delay the updates, they must do something with those buttons and other stuff that do not fit the pie update to well. We want a stable release, so let's give them time). Anyway the only big difference i noticed when i worked with my girls nokia 6.1 was the gesture thingy which sits quite good on a device without hardware buttons, the rest are just small facial liftis, some would contradict and call them ugly. Under the hood changes are there too, of course. Nokia 6.1 works way better now then with oreo. But wait, nokia 8 is actually a beast now, so i do not think speed will improve in any way other then: a bit. So do not wait for it to much, is not that different and does not let you enjoy the device as you should. All we need are the security updates, and they are here

 • Good observation on your part there. And yeah, hopefully the Pie update would be a good one and worth the wait ; )

 • Yeah..., i agree with you on that. Anyway, still waiting for the Pie update. Hopefully it will be worth the wait ; )

 • You would be so disappointed when they don't update the camera framware after waiting this long

 • As far as I know, they're planning on fixing the camera software on Nokia 8 with Android Pie update. Android P is already available for Nokia 7 plus, but HMD global needs more time for Nokia 8. I'd happily wait another few months (probably it won't take more than a couple of weeks) for a better camera experience rather than getting the Pie update right now without the proper camera... So expect the Pie update to be available around the new year eve...

 • In what year will they release android 9 for this device

 • Yeah like if you plot a data to a graph, that 90-100% seems to give you more screen on time than the rest 10% intervals...

 • Yeah I've heard that theory about the electron cycles... But i was just referring to my observation. ;)

 • Yes, it is good for the battery, actually charging it from 50% to 100 is even bettery, cause you are not forcing the the getting warm barrier. The only problem? It does not last that much when you charge it just arround 90%. Those 10% can actually be 1 hour more, and that is alot.

 • Thus far, i have not encountered similar issue as you mentioned. Btw, had actually read an article on battery care for Smartphones whereby it was adviced that we charge when battery is at 20%. Charged till 90% only. This is Good for Lifespan of the battery. Might want to try ; )

 • Gdday Everyone ! Been using LG Smartphones (LG G2 and G4) for the past few years and was intending to change to LG V20 when i came to know about Nokia 8. Read Reviews and Finally decided on Nokia 8 instead as it seems that the Good Old Days of Nokia are back (Reminiscing the Nokias 3210, 3310 and 6500 i had back then ; ) ). Its has been about 6 Months now that i have been using Nokia 8 and i am really IMPRESSED and HAPPY with it. No Regrets at all. Performance is Great (Fast and Smooth). Battery last me more than a day (2 Days at times). Camera for me is Good (Dont really bother much as i would get a DSLR instead if i had wanted to shoot Great Pictures). Build Quality feels just like the Nokias of Old Days ; ) Conclusively, its a matter of Individual Preferences in my opinion. Everyone has their own expectations as well. Nothing is made to be Perfect ; )

 • The battery cannot overcharge only if explodes. But you are right. I also noticed a pattern where if you let it go under 20 percent and charge it to 100% will last less then if you charge it from 30% to 100, or funny, but true, charge from 2% to about 70%. Ps i actually get almost 10 hours on screen, but of course, no games.

 • Guys, can anyone confirm if the following stated thing is happening to you or not? Batery life is pretty good for me. I constantly hit 6+ hours pf screen on time whenever i charge to 100%. But i notice this weird trend. Whenever i charge to 100% the batery lasts 'noticeably' longer than when i unplug the phone before charging to full capacity. Noticeably means, it is seriously noticable. Can someone tell me if it's something usual? Or maybe the when plugged in even after reaching 100% makes it charge more than it's 'typical' 3090mAh capacity!

 • Yeah, but it's not burn in. It's ghosting. Just set the brightness to max and use for a few minutes. (may be - Play a colorful video) it'll make the ghosting go away... (temporarily)

 • Does anyone have a screen burn issue ? I have a reddish screen burn on the edges of the display.

 • Receiving access? I'm sorry, I've never heard anything like that. It just automatically receives calls and text msgs if you have a working sim card with a good enough carrier signal. Check if you have deactivated the second sim card from the settings.

 • I rarely use the default Nokia camera, but once i read your issue i tried using it. But seems like it's the other way around. Once you take a selfie, it shows the real view of it,not the mirror image. Think, if you have a birthmark on you left cheek, and once you take a selfie, birthmark will be on the photo's left cheek. (in a mirror, the birthmark will appear on the right cheek) And yes, seems like we can't choose between the mirror and the real image.

 • Just got my Nokia 8 now. How do one receive calls and messages from the second sim. Can't figure it now. Only receiving access to Sim 1. Please help.

 • Hi All, I hope everyone face this issue after the updates. When u take photos with front camera. U get the mirror images and we don't have any option to change it in settings... We need to use the app. Even with the app sometimes. I recently noticed it however, I am using it since 7 months no other issue. How can get it fixed... @Nokia... Please fix this issue.. Sometimes its pathetic we get mirror image. I think even for the back cam. Don't remember. Need to check again. If anyone else facing this issue, please raise this concern to Nokia so that they can change it with the new updates.. And battery as everyone says I don't get a complete day if I am using it heavily.(no heavy games). just max 7 hours with overall function . I don't know when they will fix that Rest this phone is a beast.

 • Probably within December

 • When will Nokia 8 get Android 9

 • What does the warranty cover?

 • I would be happy too. Generally it's a very good phone but just a bit too big for me and not a massive fan of the orange/copper accents.

 • I'd be happy to change my N8 with your eventual N7 Plus. Where are you living? :)

 • Not everything is heaven. With this type of behaviour it is quite clear their is a defect display and the device should have been taken back, crying here about how you own a defective device it ain't gonna help you much... so i consider it? Trolling.

 • Yeah if you're doing processor intesive tasks like high performance 3D gaming, yeah 660 really is a big downgrade from 835. The display, it's a bigger 18:9, yet FHD panel vs a smaller 16:9 QHD pixel denser panel. So yeah it's a tough call, and seems in your opinion Nokia 8 is the clear winner. Well add to that list, audio department on Nokia 8 is also better than 7 plus since 8's sporting a 24bit 192kHz deck compared to 7 plus's ordinary headphone jack. And also the ip54 splash resistance. And also the phone is more pocket friendly sized. Hmmm... could you do something like, exchanging the brand new 7 plus to a brand new Nokia 8 from a retail shop(from an authorized dealer) , i think now Nokia 8 is much cheaper than the 7 plus?

 • Snapdragon 660 is about 1/3 to 1/2 the speed of the 821 (depending on the test), and the 7 Plus screen is 1080x2160 vs. 1440x2560 for the Nokia 8. No comparison between the two.

 • Progressive deterioration over a period of a week or so. First it had three 3-4mm gray squares in specific locations on screen, with a very thin vertical blue line from each square pointing towards the top or bottom of the screen. Then shortly after unlocking, the screen would show three vertical bands black/white/black that take over the screen over a period of 5 seconds after unlocking. Then only showed half the top status bar garbled. Then total blackout - a black screen.

 • First three gray squares (about 3-4mm each) appeared in specific locations on screen, with one very thin vertical blue line originating from each square and pointing towards the upper or lower edges of the screen. Then it got worse with the screen displaying three vertical bands of equal size (black / white / black) shortly after the phone is unlocked (5 seconds), then half the top status bar (garbled) with the rest of the screen black, then no display at all. The deterioration occurred over a period of a week or so. The phone was never dropped or been subjected to liquid spills. It looks as if it had just been unpacked from its box.

 • You mean the camera's view finder is always blurry or photos come out blurred? Nope i don't experience that. Try using Google Camera. (search on the internet GCam port for Nokia 8) Lens is clean right? If the problem persists, you'd have to visit a Nokia care center

 • For 199 Euros? Lol i bought this for 399. And i still think it was worth every penny. So yeah, i think it's a great deal. Device is snappy and smooth. Recommend installing Google Camera for better photo quality. Buy under warranty :)

 • I don not think the Nokia 7 plus is inferior. It's a really solid device. Snapdragon 660 is the only downgrade (well it depends on your usage - snapdragon 660 is equilant to snapdragon 821 as i heard). Batery life wife, 7 plus is a better choice. And the display, you're getting a 18:9 panel and a marginally better camera. And you'll receive android Q which you won't receive on Nokia 8. They're replacing it with a Nokia 7 plus because, Nokia 8 is no longer in production (i think). If you're comfortable using a 6 inch device, Nokia 7 plus is pretty much better than Nokia 8 right now, specially because of the camera. Review your options after contacting Nokia, if you do not want a 7 plus, try asking them to replace the display or if there's no other option, 7 plus is a great device. (my opinion)

 • Less than 6 months after purchase, the display of my Nokia 8 (which I use only for data, it sits on a stand on my desk 99% of the time) progressively degraded to the point where it no longer displayed anything. Contacted Nokia Support who requested that I take it back to the point of purchase for repair under warranty. It has never been dropped (which would leave indelible marks on the outside of the phone) or been subject to liquid spills. It has no external signs of any wear and tear. Took their advice, and brought it to the nearest authorized service center. i) They claimed they do not repair, they replace; ii) They will not replace it under warranty (they charge US$ 50); and iii) To add insult to injury, they want to replace it with an inferior Nokia 7 Plus. I complained by e-mail to Nokia Support, who ten days after receiving my initial complaint, and a reminder did not even bother responding. Anyone with a remedy recommendation?

 • It cost 199 Euro right now in Greece..worth for this money? Will be used for telephony (3-6 hours daily), Internet (news reading, messaging etc) and some fotos..no gaming!

 • Only 299 euro now, great deal

 • Any one experience rear camera always blurd??? I used my N8 now for 5months😥 what is my phone problem hardware or software??? Thanks...

 • In short: no! But keep my hopes high for the Pie update which promises a good improvement for photo quality, coming this December :)

 • I don't think so! I had a s7 edge before buying this phone. After installing Google's camera software, the picture quality is pretty great. May be on par with s7 if not marginally better. But video is much better on s7. Faster autofocus on s7 helps, and Nokia's video is a mess as it loses focus from time to time! (default HMD baby made software's video)

 • Camera better than s7?

 • LCD's do not burn in. They have a peoblem with image persistance or ghosting But it should go away if you do what cupckake said. Keep it on full light for a couple of hours. Use a lot of white, blue and gray. But better look for lcd burin wiper. In playstore It kind of does what i said. Turn the backlit lower then or at maximum brightnes (do not forget, max brightness is also a factor of panel degradation). Anway, let the program run for an hour two. See if anything improved.

 • Depends on what kind of burn in you're experiencing. For me I've experienced some kinda burn in (maybe a software glitch) after texting on whatsapp for a few hours. The whatsapp taskbar (topmost part) was there like a stamp in every app even after restarting! After usung the device with maximum brightness, and playing a few videos, slowly that burn in dissappeared completely. Since this is a LCD display, you'll most probably be able to fix it! If it didn't fix your problem, search YouTube for dead pixel healing videos and keep playing one for a few hours, it might work. Take it into nokia care if nothing worked :)

 • The newly added smartphones are Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 devices. This was confirmed by HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas on Twitter. The tweet read: @sarvikas: Nokia 3, 5, 6 and 8 of 2017 will also get Pie. This hopefully helps understand why everything cant happen at the same time.

 • Umm... Do you think it will work? (Currently set maximum brightness)

 • Try using the device with maximum brightness for a while...

 • Hey Carol, my Nokia 8 LCD display got burn-in. What should I do now?

 • I'm a happy owner of this phone since 1 week now - it's so fast! Previously I had a Samsung S7, switched for a Nokia 6.1 but because of the poor camera (everything else was good) switched again after 3 weeks to this N8. Waiting patiently for the Pie (which by the way was already installed on the 6.1) and expect it for N8 by the end of the year, correct? As for the Youtube, I installed Stream from the store and never looked back - it can keep playing in a small window and continue doing whatever I want in the meantime.

 • Only on YouTube but not frequently. You just have to close the video and replay.

 • Nope. Actually the dynamic range of the monochrome sensor is bettter than the colored one. But unless you're an enthusiast, you wouldn't enjoy a monochrome sensor. And your first comment, it's pretty obvious. Even the pixel 3 xl uses only a single camera in 2018(till late 2019). HMD's software is the only downside of this phone. However, things are expected to turn around dramatically with Android Pie update. According to Juho Sarvikas, they are working on a camera update which will improve picture quality and also include AR processing. We'll probably have to wait a few more months to receive Pie and let's see after that.

 • I never use youtube, but yeah, sometimes makes problems, i think it is actually a software glitch, cause i use newpipe and it works flowesly. Newpipe is a project against google so is not to be found in playstire. It scrapps all the limits, adds and whutnut and lets you see the videos in raw. If interestead. Search it on f-droid.

 • Me too, sadly Microsoft forced people out. Also forced Nokia out of business... I actually do not like android that much, the interface is just fragmented into peaces. Ugly! And all the launchers are even more uglyer. And google? Oh how i like them to be out of my devices. Anyway, since there are only two systems left and ios is not my cup if tee, HMD came out right on time with the nokia 8 (scrapped of crapp that generally is to be found in all other devices, samsung being one of them). So i bought it. And it actually remeinds me more of nokia then the last device i had (that one reminden me of a very plastiky cheap build device, samesung gs2 or something) lumia 950xl. Was a great peace, but when it came to build quality....headaches.

 • Does anyone else have an issue with YouTube videos loading. I constantly get the spinning loading wheel and it gets frustrating and sometimes in chrome pages are really slow to low and you can see slow progress on the loading bar. It's really inconsistent... sometimes there and sometimes not. Was rarely and issue in my Samsung.

 • Makes you wonder that the Google camera app makes pictures look so much better and it only uses one of the cameras. Pretty much makes the monochrome camera useless. I bought the phone thinking that it would help with low light but pictures look generally the same on the normal colour camera. The Nokia 7 plus at least has a good camera normally and a zoom camera that is useful. You can use a black and white filter anyway than use the monochrome sensor for shots. Nokia could have therefore spent twice as much on the main camera and given it a 1.7 aperture to improve low light shots?

 • Does anyone else have a problem with YouTube videos loading and getting the spinning wheel? I get it alot and sometimes when using Chrome Web pages some pages take ages to load and the status bar moves slowly. It's a bit inconsistent.

 • Please search for this on Google search: GCam-5.1.018-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.3b1.apk It's the Arnova version for the Nokia 8.

 • oh man! you just remind old Nokia. I still love nokia windows phone.

 • What name does google camera have in play store

 • Hopefully HMD will carry the legacy on

 • I do not know for the moment. I updated my girls nokia 6.1 to pie and everything was pretty darn fast, it has a small glitch at the battery software, but i do not know if the problem hangs at the code or is a glitch after installing, so i will let it like this and see what the next update brings. The device got faster tough and more stable. I will keep people here in touch if i notice something that should not be there after the update and if helps when i reset it. P.s Glance is actually a more then 8 years old future that was to be found in Lumia devices, so it's behaviour has nothing to do with the ips but just with the innovation behind it. A thing samsung actually copied and called it always on. Or maybe they did not copy the future, after all samsung pais nokia for patents, this might be one of them. Also, refocus after a picture was taken is also a nokia innovation, also old and also on lumia devices. Actually lumia devices were full of innovation. First OiS devices, first camera (lumia920) that was actually able to shut pictures in the dark, nokia 1020 followed with a huge sensor and OIS, that was the second on nokia devices (pureview 808 was the first). Even the 2.5d curved display was first to be found, and for a lot of years to come only on Nokia devices. A small detail but such a big difference, class written allover. Nokia has a pletora of innovations, if interested, do some researches, there is a lot of inteligence behind Nokia name.

 • Will we have to reset after installing Pie??

 • Always on display is a software feature, it can be made available to any device if the manufacturer wants to. The thing is amoleds drain only a small amount of battery for this. Nokia has a way around it. It's called Glance in Nokia phones (for a reason). It turns on only when the phone detects some movement like for example, when you pick up your phone from a desk. And it uses data from light sensor / proximity sensor to asswwith this process. At complete dark places (like when inside a pocket) Glance won't turn on even if the phone detects movement.

 • Wow, impressive. How did you manage to come up with so many words in one sentence? It is crazy how you naild it. I mean, uh, you really know english. Now you just need to put the words together.

 • anttetion---careful don t even upgrade your androeid verstion .keep it like androeid vectory ..and will be fine

 • For the price, is a steal. Think about the fact that pixel 3 has the guts of this device besides display amoled vs ips and cpu. But costs 3 times more, while the build quality is 3 times less. As for the camera. Well, is a good camera, not great. But with the pie update can be better, we'll see. Battery, for me is great. After almost an year, the battery is the same. 1 day of medium usage, 2 days of messages and small stuff. 10 hours of constant usage. 4 to 5 Hours of heavy gaming. Something i do not really do. What i adcise you and anyone buying this device. When it comes new if it wasn'z updated to android 8. There will be a lot of updates plus haeavy updates comming your way. So first, charge it without sim or anything that might consume to much battery while in the process. Wifi, data and so on. After full charge do the updates, there will be MANY, after the last update factory reset the device, trust me, will help a lot against glitches that might occur after the list of updates that installs.

 • I want to buy this phone in a matter of few days. So plz help me with your honest opinion(users of nokia 8)

 • How can this phone have always-on display on an IPS LCD screen? I had the impression that always-on display only works on OLED displays.

 • Hi all, - Does anyone updates to android 9? Could you evaluate battery after update, thank you !

 • Lol yes genius, well said. :D

 • expensive phone,no security,mobile anti theft,no radio,no front flash,no fast.

 • Camera software on Nokia 8 The last month I've compared the stock camera app with the Google Camera app (GCam-5.1.018-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-V8.3b1.apk). What I've noticed it's the very good quality photos and videos taken with te Arnova version of GCam so I will recommended to all Nokia 8 owners to get and use this camera software, until HMD founds the software problem and addresses it properly.

 • Did you drop the phone? Maybe a drop can initiate something like that, like an internal crack. I'm using this device for about 8 months, no issues whatsoever.

 • Lol HMD's camera software is 2015-ish. Use google camera guys! It improves the image quality by a huge margin.

 • Hope it helps.

 • Thanks on the suggestions. Will try them. Mike

 • Anyone else find it strange that the colour only camera takes pretty much the same picture as the dual camera? Is Nokia conning us by saying that the two work together? Or is the software not doing its job?

 • Good Day guys, I am using this phone from the last two months and i will not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. 1) Display is excellent with deep blacks for an LCD 2) Battery life is very good. Lasts whole day with moderate use 3) Performance is excellent. I switched from Galaxy S8. and after using two months, S8 was slow as hell. Nokia 8 is still very snappy 4) The copper cooling pipe gets its job done and the phone remains cool even in high pressure (like 3d games, GPS) 5) Charging times are very good too. 6) Camera in day light is on par with other phones and in low light the quality gets compromised a little but thats not the point which should keep you away from buying 7) Nokia ozo audio is out of this world. Very crisp audio is recorded 8) Video quality is average. Its not good though 9) Build quality is stunning. You get metal body which feels quite good in hand. 10) Timely updates are also another reason to go for this phone. Android 9 Pie is expected next month. 11) Last, the price is too good. Overall its excellent value for money Keep it up Nokia (HMD)

 • It is a very bad phone. You will repent if you purchase it. Service at Nokia care is pathetic. Instead of solving the problem, staff is getting into unnecessary arguments.

 • How do you mean not usuable, blank? Did the screen get spoilt all of a sudden or what?

 • Less than 6 months after purchase, my very lightly used (90% of the time it lies on the desk, not used for voice) Nokia 8 phone's display has progressively become unusable, to the point where now it is totally unusable. It is either completely blank, is split into three vertical bands - black - white - black, or half of the top toolbar shows with rest of the screen black. Not a pretty sight... Looking at the various forums, the inevitable conclusion is that the new HMD Nokia phones have some very serious design and/or quality control problems, the likes of which one is unlikely to see from other vendors. Stories of Nokia 8 phones needing to be taken in for service multiple times due to display problems is not uncommon. In contrast, my other workhorse phone - a 2-year old Samsung Galaxy J1 Mini (with < 1/4 of Nokia 8's CPU power & storage capacity, and a lousy camera) has been working reliably and predictably since day 1 (with two SIMs). My 10-year old (now retired) Nokia E61 still works as it always has, though its battery does not last long anymore. The sturdiness and reliability of the old Nokia phones is long gone.

 • I had a chat with the nokia support and that person assured me that nokia 8 also comes under android one program even though its not mentioned anywhere..

 • I do not think this type of things can be said past one device, yes there is a standard, but perfectly the same there won't be. So the jack at my device is quite tight, it actually annoys me a bit, because i have the fealling i bracke something everytime a insert the headphones, but well, that is me. Also the type c is thight enough to not let thigs move. But as i was saying, this does not have to be with all the devices. Along with the screen, which really can differe from device to device (color tone, and the samll defects all amoled have, not talking about this device, in general).

 • That pin is asked when you pair two smart devices together, google finaly realised that bluetooth is not that safe, so tehy added an extra security to the system. With audio devices you won't get thaz pin. Now, nokia 8 should actually save the connection for a future use. You should see your device in the bluettoth menu. If is not there, well, wierd... my two sense is that you car does not save Nokia's 8 bluetooth mac address and that is why, is always asking for the pin. If you used your care with a lot of devices, try to reset the bluetooth, it should have something to reset all saved devices, sonewhere, and then pair your nokia again. Also, on the nokia, click on the car's device and click forget in the bluetooth menu. Might help.

 • Because trolls, people that have nothing vetter to do, or people that actually make money out of bashing. When it comes to Nokia, their are a lot who are affraid of it. Every phone manufacturer out there. They know how much danger this name can bring into there incomes, so there are a lot of people capable of doing really bad stuff just to destroy a name. Nokia, since rebirth was bullied, trolled and hated. Well, they can't stop people that actually have a brain, from buying it. This phone, i still consider it is the best their is. Price, build quallity and hardware, all match even phones like pixel 3, at a third of the price (letting out nokia's build quality, which is actually superior to pixel 3). Only a full biased maß mentallity can choose other phones over this one.

 • A quick review after using this phone for the last 11 months: 1. Excellent build and very sturdy, especially the copper version is an eye catching one. 2. Display has an excellent response time and resolution. It is very bright and also has a solid legibility in sunlight. 3. Dimensions are very user-friendly. 4. Vanilla Android is snappy and almost never glitches. Occasionally a soft reset is needed because of the wifi connection; not a hardware problem I think but it's a software problem because on Android 7 it never occurred to me. 5. Charging times are excellent. 6. Battery lasts until evening with moderate to heavy use (except 3d gaming!) 7. Dual sim management is excellent and I never had issues with it. Telephony is excellent and with true HD audio. 8. The hated camera is excellent in good light conditions and especially for the videos! In low light it's what it is but I think it's a software problem; hope HMD will find a solution soon. 9. Price is really ok! 10. Last but not the least is the very snappy response times even using multiple high requirement specs apps. I've always been a Nokia fan and I sincerely accept it but I really don't understand people speaking and writing strange things about this phone! It's a very nice bargain of price and what it really delivers; at least until the end of 2019.

 • I read plenty of reviews especially user ones who said that the camera was good. Plus this had ois. In reality it's not special at all unless I have a defect.

 • First, you should've read some user opinions. If you asked our help "should i go for nokia 8 or 7 plus", we would've definitely helped you with the matter. Now thats you've purchased Nokia 8, don't worry Nokia 8 is a great handset. Camera is the only downside (if you can live with the design), still HMD Global is the one to blame. Zeiss optics are really capable, but held back due to messy sofrware. Use Google Camera (dowload and install from the internet) Nokia 8 will give you some nice shots.

 • Just use google cam app and see the magic

 • I was expecting quite alot from the camera given the reviews and that this was a flagship but when taking pictures at home the shots are horrible and grainy with soft/no details when zoomed in, to the point where I contact Nokia. But my problem is that that how do I know that I have a problem specific to my phone or whether this is normal? Really has ruined my happiness at getting this phone - in hindsight should have gone for something else - nokia 7 plus or samsung.

 • For me the battery life is fine but I think you might need more. The Pocophone F1 has a bigger battery, it might be a better choice for you. The Nokia 8 isn't part of the Android One programme but Nokia do update the Nokia 8 on a monthly basis and we should get Pie before the end of 2018. Stock Android is great, I like it. Sometimes I wish there were some extras but having stock means the updates come so it is a trade-off. I hope that is helpful.

 • I read somewhere that Pie is coming in November 2018.

 • I bought my Nokia 8 in August 2018 for CHF333. Now after three months of daily use I can say I am more than satisfied. It is a very solid phone I all senses. It is so smooth and responsive. The auto-brightness works well. The bezels are big but I really don't mind because the navigation buttons are at least below the screen which gives you a bit more space on screen. Best of all is the feel of the phone, it sits nicely in the hand. Every month there are security updates and the stock Android experience is refreshing (my previous phone was a Hauwei). The cameras on the Nokia 8 are often talked down. However, I think they are very good! The bokeh effect works well. The video is great, it is nice to be able to do 4k on the selfie cam. The Nokia 8 is an all-round performer. Maybe not exciting but a solid phone that does a fine job. I am happy, especially with the price I paid. I don't understand paying over 1000 for a phone when there are excellent choices like the Nokia 8.

 • Got this phone, but the camera isn't that good - expected a lot more. Should have opted for the 7 plus with a 1.8 aperture rather than the 2.0 on the Nokia 8. Pictures when you zoom in aren't that detailed and low light isn't good.

 • when coming android 9 pie ?

 • Everytime after being blootooth phoning connected with my car asks.me.for a PIN!!!? Is that a glitch or is purposelly...???

 • i have been using nokia 8 for months ..there is a serious issue with auto brightness and camera ...battery is okay ... front camera gets brights enough that pictures does not come good specially at night in normal lighting condition ...performance is good especially in gaming the side blazes give the advantage in handling games ..no heat ups issue at all ... its 22th Oct no update on android pi ... camera can be improve by updates hopefully the will consider this or else i am not going to recommend nokia to any one ...

 • Sup everyone Iam considering buying Nokia 8 or Xperia XZ1 how is nokia 8 headphone jack quality? Does the jack fits tight n good? I own XA1 plus and the jack is superb, I have to push a little bit stronger until it clicks and fits really secure. Iam honestly asking because I exercise a lot with rollerblades

 • I already have the Nokia 8, got it last april'18

 • Someone on twitter posted its comming in November for Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 sirrocco

 • Best phone ever made hands down and also best seller and one of the best flagships 2017-2018 i got rid of my Iphone 8 for this masterpiece that is Nokia 8. Hopefully we will get more and more support for this device since its becoming extremely popular

 • Its mid of oct now and still waiting for Android Pie on Nokia 8

 • Using it from last 5-6 months performance is too good, Camera UI is not that great.Battery is not that great but not that bad either.

 • I am using a Nokia 8. I have been having a problem with my device, it seems to freeze a lot. I end up having to restart the phone to get to use it again. Please help

 • I've tried nova launcher in my sony xperia xzs, i came across lean launcher, which is pixel launcher, and its pretty good... Lets see what kinda changes the android p update brings to the default home launcher.

 • please@Nokia can the 8 plus be made wterproof

 • Hi Nokia, can the Nokia 8 plus be made i'll like it have the design of the & plus but with the fingerprint sensor on the front with snapdragon 845

 • Instead of feeling bad for no LED notification, i'd prefer Nokia gives an update to the glance screen to show notification from any apps rather than just the stupid mails, messages and phone notifications. I hope this glance screen gets an update with android pie.

 • Android One is the purest form of android. It helps in running the phone smoothly even with less ram and lower band chipsets. I'd choose Nokia 8 over any other custom skin just for the plain and pure user interface.. You still can install the apps that are only for samsung and xiaomi by installing from the apk files. I am a very heave user, and i charge it in the morning before leaving home and i get the battery until i sleep at night.

 • How is the battery life of the Nokia 8 with heavy use? And is Android One a more economic UI than any other UI, like for example EMUI, MIUI or Samsung’s? I’m still debating whether to go for the Nokia 8 or for a phone with a larger battery, like the Pocophone F1. Could anyone give some advice?

 • There's no LED to resolve!

 • Rishi, try using nova launcher premium / free version if you don't wanna spend money. It's a very fluent, light skin and there's a ton of customization available. You can get the pixel search bar to be wherever you want it to...

 • Hey guys, I don't know if you all already know this, but i just wanted to share anyways. I just had a chat with the Nokia support and the lady told me that Nokia 8 also comes under Android One program even though there is nothing physically written on the back of the phone unlike other Android One phones, therefore it includes 2 years of guaranteed software updates and 3 years of guaranteed monthly security patch updates, starting with Android 9 Pie by the end of November. I just hope we get the search bar below like the pixel launcher and support for icon packs in the default launcher..

 • Hopping to resolve the led notification because

 • Apps apps apps. What have you installed? Check what battery app has to say about it. Install glasswire and see if any app uses a strange amount of internet resources. Also try greenify, is a complex app, but it might find the culpit. Just use it for a while to see what apps run in.background and what you could stop. You can uninstall it once you find what's goung on. Also, check for viruses.

 • my battery draining fast even i just fully charged it, after 30 mins it suddenly drop to 85% even on idle only. can anyone recommend what should i do? it started last 4 days ago.

 • You need to do a factory reset.

 • my battery draining fast even i just fully charged it, after 30 mins it suddenly drop to 85% even on idle only. can anyone recommend what should i do? it started last 4 days ago.

 • Please, i would like to know if Nokia 8 has aptX codec support with its Oreo update

 • Can anyone tell us about battery because if small for such phone and tell us about experience with phone and do recommend if because I want to buy it

 • What's you camera app software version?

 • Check your phone. Mine works like a charm

 • Camera can't record video since the last update (a month ago).

 • No problems here, Google camera works like a charm. But I think HMD will release a fix for the camera with Android P, they tweeted they're working on an update to improve nokia 8 camera. If Google camera can, HMD should definitely be able to improve the picture quality.

 • So it's possible to use google's camera app with all the features? Isn't it a hassle? Does it work without any crashes? I just remembered that when I tried the same with the Essential Phone, it was a hassle and didn't work at the end.

 • Yes. It does support a OTG connection. You can plug in a mouse or a key board. But sometimes it doesn't work with some usb flash drives. I don't know if it is a error in flash the drives or my particular device. (TA-1004)

 • Not the selfies, google camera app made me love the camera. Earlier i didn't even want to open the camera. Google camera's image processing is much superior, it focuses fast, colors are nice and crisp, only downside is video framerate is limited to 30fps. This proves the Zeiss lenses are capable but held back due to HMD's immature software!

 • Better you use a special cable, not the normal cable. That cable has four terminals on one end and three terminals on the car aux input side. Also, that cable has a mic in between the two ends.

 • It is indeed a vety good phone. Have been using it for about 5 months. Battery life is so good, for moderate use, it can go upto a day and a half. Screen is bright and vivid. Stock android is as great as any OS can be. What's disappointing is the camera. It's just about average. Photos are pretty good only if you can get it focused properly, which is much slower. You definitely will miss a shot of moving objects like kids playing, pets etc. Video is mediocre, keeps focusing and defocusing ervery now and then. Even when you tap screen to focus on a subjects, it loses it after a second or two before refocusing. That's so stupid. But Ozo is just awesome, no words to praise it. You must experience it to believe it. Finally, a great phone, poor camera. Choose your need.

 • 7 plus has the better camera although Google camera mod can really improve the 8s performance especially the selfies

 • Which one has better camera, Nokia 8 or Nokia 7 plus?

 • It will receive Pie till the end of the year.

 • Hey, i've just ordered this phone on amazon, the 6gb ram and 128gb memory version.. I just wanted to know will this phone receive android pie and does this phone support otg?

 • when I make call with my nokia 8 on car stereo connect via auxiliary cable, the other person speaking with me experiences echo sound, please I need help to fix the issue.

 • no radio chip ?

 • Just a tip folks, Nokia 8 or 7 plus?

 • nope

 • Yes.

 • Does nokia 8 support OTG? i want use mouse and keyboard can i do that?

 • I really think it's a very good device Good points are the durability and the price and the hardware bad points are the camera software and the design

 • I think that the only thing is the looks. Full screen phones are now the trend as per even recent nokias. This phone while a beast is going to look quite dated in a few years. It's starting to look dated now.

 • Actually, the worst part of this device was camera software. The ccamera it self is quite good. Would have also be a second wro.g and that would be the people that continuasly try to bash Nokia. Probably paid f'rts.

 • According what u had written ......................I just want to say u only u r handset r having problems I am using Nokia 8 till now I haven't found any problems in my phone

 • Thats a flagship device u r comparing to a mid ranger . Believe me nokia 8 is a beast when it comes to performace and display and talking about gaming and multitasking . I dropped idea to buy 7 plus and buy nokia 8 . Getting a flagship device that cheap is a charm itself

 • Thanks for feedback .

 • nokia 8

 • Please, use the compare tool offered by gsmarena! This way you get a clearer idea. As on everyday use I think Nokia 8 is better, at least until the end of 2019!

 • You seriously had to ask that question? Did you know Nokia 8 is equipped with snapdragon 845 chipset, a quad HD display, much better cameras, 24bit-192kHz supported headphone deck, nice and crisp loudspeaker audio, and splash resistance (just in case). I'd pick Nokia 8 over X6 (or 6.1plus as you like to call).

 • Nokia 8 (2017 flagship) vs Nokia 6.1 plus? both are similarly priced in my country. what should i get? Waiting for opinions. tell me?

 • 7 plus will get it late September, Nokia 8 fans might have to wait a little longer since HMD is working on a camera update (hopefully it will put the capable Zeiss Lenes to good use)

 • Go to Settings > About phone > Build number. Tap Build number seven times. ... Go back to Settings, where you'll find a Developer options entry in the menu. Then there will be a toggle available in developer options menus to turn off automatic system updates.

 • Guys now I really need ur help. Any techi please guide me. I don't want to get my Android software update automatically.. I never updated the security patch this sept. month when I checked it said already updated. How can we remove the automatic software security update (not the application updates I have already disabled it) in our device. Now it updated through mobile data as I have disabled the WI-FI option. Not able to find any option.. checked in about phone software update, almost every settings :( unable to find.. please guide me. Guys. You tube videos doesn't help. Guys please help.

 • Hey Carol, Sorry for the delay. Yes I made the list and consumption is based on the chat apps and you tube... I have uninstalled the apps as of now and will c .. i hope it will be rectified once we get pie update..

 • Any body getting pie update ? When is it expected for nokia 8 ?

 • I'm stuck between the 8 and the 7 plus. The camera is better on the 7 plus and better battery but the 8 has a better size but no more android updates after pie.

 • The only thing wrong with this phone was the camera specs. I know this was nokia's first flagship and for most of their first generation of phones they played it safe but a 2.0 aperture with 1.12 pixels isn't flagship. Only a year later the 7 plus has 1.8 aperture and 1.4 pixel sensor. The 8 was way more expensive than the 7 plus, but granted at that stage they hadn't made alot of money yet and their sourcing of better parts was just beginning.

 • Snapdragon 835, fast updates, clean android and a price of 320 euro. I think it's one if not the best option for now.

 • Best phone I have owned, long battery life good update plan by Nokia/HMD, and best of all cheap since Nokia released the Sirocco even thought it really isn't £500 better than the standard Nokia 8, noticed the UK prices have just dropped to £260 in the high street so they are a bargin, you cannot find a better phone for the price

 • Make a list with the apps running in in your device, better said, the ones you installed. Also tell what battery appe tells about consumption.

 • I really don't know what happening with my battery. Seriously, I charged 87% today morning @ 10.00 a.m after that normal browsing till now no videos yet, no music, just browsed flipkart, read emails, Amazon, and call for few mints my battery @ 1.18 p.my is 43% as of now I type this it reduces in minutes. No auto updates on, no apps running behind.. everything is fine... As someone suggested.. I tried even connecting to WiFi same issue. No liquid damage or any other damage as tested from service. Center. Can't figure out.. :( why it drains so fast.. rest everything is fine in my device... No updated to september patch as I don't received any updates for my previous comment.Guys suggest me a solution for this. Now regret this for buying for 28k. :( . 3090 MAh is not get an average battery life...

 • Well, i uninstalled, till this morning was still showing up in store, then showd, not compatible with my device, then it was gone from updates list. Most probably, another error by HMD with the camera update.

 • I am pretty sure i know how an update looks like. Thanks for the concern. As if you insinuate something else: Yes i am sure.

 • Are you sure it's not a user error? It usually is, remember? ;-)

 • Received camera update, huge software arround 247MB. They just got rid of lumia interface so no mor focus control, i.stead we get stupid futures like. Some strange faces only tree and motion. The a long time ago Nokias idea with live images. I actually prefer lumia camera...

 • Good News guys. Camera will be improved with Pie update. Will receive a few new features as well...

 • It's because HMD promised 2 generations of OS updates and 3 years of Monthly Patches... (nokia 8 launched with Android N)

 • try to install the google pixel camera on it and see the difference

 • Honor play is the better choice. I buyed nokia 8 and believe me this was my biggest mistake. Only the good thing about nokia 8 is stock android and snapdragon 835. Take a suggestion that don't buy this phone.

 • I take it that Android Pie is the last major update that this will receive now? Nokia 7 plus will get Android Q however.

 • Hey Guys, Any improvement for the battery ( facing draining issue since 8.1 update) for the new patch updates...? Any other issues with the patch updates? Please give genuine update

 • Yeah that proves the Nokia 8's Zeiss Optics are really capable. Hopefully HMD will address the issue in a future update. Until then, google camera gets the job done.

 • Nokia 8 camera app processing is not good, even with latest updates. Google HDR+ camera app processing is superior, even though it only uses a single camera (Google Camera app does not recognise second camera)

 • So no general improvement in picture quality through algorithm improvements? Alot of people believe that the monochrome sensor isn't doing much to improve colour shots.

 • Didn't mean to reply direct to you with the HDR+ comment... Reference AptX, no, the latest update does not support it. It does support AAC which to my uneducated ears sounds more than fine with my AKG Y50BT headphones and Spotify on extreme quality. YMMV.

 • Anyone with this phone needs to install the Google HDR+ camera app from this link as it makes it loads better.

 • Hi! Does it have aptx or aptx HD support after latest updates? Thanks

 • Lol we're waiting for Android Pie (yes you should)

 • Camera application is updated to pro version. In pro mode white balance, iso, shutter speed and exposure settings are available. Phone's both front and back cameras can record 2160p 30fps, 1080p 30fps, 720p 30fps normal videos , and 720p 120fps and 480p 120fps slow motion videos.

 • Hello guys , I. Having the plans of buying Nokia 8 . Do I upgrade to Oreo or I should not ?

 • Yes

 • How's the camera quality after the updates, improved??

 • Has the camera been improved after the recent updates?

 • If you prefer design go for Honor play.If you prefer stock Android go for Nokia

 • does Nokia 8 support Dolby sound

 • Honor play vs Nokia 8? help guys.

 • Use a glad zip lock sandwich bag

 • No, there was an update a few days ago, but HMD probably released the wrong package for Nokia 8; read this:

 • Pro camera?? It's been here for a long time now. Or any new update?

 • Actually I think the camera update was removed (or at least postponed) for Nokia 8 - there were users that reported serious bugs after they updated the Nokia 8 with the new Nokia camera update. That update is meant for Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6.1, as far as I understand - not Nokia 8 (at least not yet).

 • Hi Guys, 1. I heard Nokia 7plus got a camera update. Do we have any update for 📷? Is that default named as Nokia Camera... When asked they said update is for all devices... How ever from Google play store I cannot c any thing like Nokia Camera. 2. At the event Nokia accounted "Pie" for 8 sicrocco 7 plus and upcoming. So I think. "Pie" is doubtful for our devices. :(

 • I don't think this would be a problem since you're not exposing the phone directly to the rain. No guarantees though. And for under 350$, i don't think you have that many choices. (at least no flagships) why don't you use a jacket or a raincoat? :D

 • Yeah i can agree with that , i was using note 5 before nokia 8 that power bank would just fill up battery within hour . May b type C usb is the reason and time to change 2 years old power bank lol .

 • When I want to take a photo I show the phrase:action not support:708 I don't know why And how can i solve this problem

 • I also said, i might be mistaking. Actually, i really do not know why i am having this discution...

 • Hey, this phone has everything I want for the price except water ressistance. I need to cycle 20 minutes through rain sometimes and my jeans can get really wet then. So my question is, how much of water can this phone handle?

 • There you are wrong again, I'm afraid. "FEATURES Sensors Fingerprint (rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass, barometer Messaging SMS(threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Email, IM Browser HTML5 - Fast charging (...)"

 • Not if you use the motorola adapter no.

 • What you waiting for then? Go buy one.

 • That iz why charges in 2 and a half hours?

 • Even Nexus 6 (motorola, 2014) had fast charging. 😊

 • Great Phone for price, Using for work for almost a year and is fast, good battery excellent camera and audio ozo is amazing! I have some small display scratches but everything works great.

 • The nexus 6p C connector is based on a USB 2.0 technology, i do not think it has fast charging. As far as i know, fast charging is actually able.only through USB 3, but i might be mistaking. Anyway, powerbanks that boost their output power should of course charge better and faster. But i am yet to see one charging my phone in an Hour. Would be a dream come true tough.

 • Actualy that's not entirely true, I think. I have a powerbank with both normal and "boost" charging. Admittedly I never tried it with nokia 8, but my old nexus 6p could use the "boost"charger and benefit from it like it did from the power outlet.

 • A powerbank will never charge a device like a real charger. With the old powerbanks and the new type c usb, they do not like eachother, this problem is with all devices, i had lumia 950 xl and the powerbank could not charge it while in use, the power actually dropped. You need to let it rest and will charge, but slow. Their are new Powerbanks with newer technology that might have better approch to fast charging tech, but do not expect them to be a wall charger, they won't they can't, for the moment.

 • The camera is decent, but i prefer to use google camera than the stock one. Performance is fluid after using it about a month and the battery can last a day with moderate usage.

 • Don't be fooled by comments. I've been using the Nokia 8 for just under 1 year now. The photos in daylight are just awesome. The Nokia camera app has improved low light image focus and processing ability drastically. That being said Nokia 7 rocks in low light images. The Nokia Camera Pro mode helps better adjust the setting and hence low light images , if you are serious about photographs. In no means is the camera inferior to other phones in its price range. In all other departments Nokia 8 is awesome. Sturdy. Worth the money. Timely updates. good battery life. It charges real fast and lasts easily over a day of normal use. Mos of the competitions phone started to show its age within a few months. And Iphone and Samsung are unjustifiably over priced. I'm a practical person, who wants my phone to perform well. You never know when you might run into an emergency. Nokia 8 has impressed me in that department. I have the polished blue version, and its a fingerprint magnet. I would advice using a matte finish if you like to use your phone naked.

 • Loved this device .. using it from last 3 months . Everything runs smooth and impressed by its battery life .. I play Asphalat 8 , Mortal kombat , COC regularly and it give me 7-8 hours on screen time without any heating issue , Regular FB and whatsapp included . Fast charging is amazing . Camera is not as bad as they repute it . Only problem i got with it is while charging with power bank it just wont charge (2.1 and 2.5 A output ) . Changed charging cable and tried it with another power bank still facing same issue . When i charge it with nokia adapter , it charge from 10% to 100% in like 90-100 minutes .

 • Both are value for money. If you are an average user it is both a good choice, for a heavier user the SD 835 in the Nokia 8 would be a better choice. However you can get both phones for around the same price, any Nokia is a good one.

 • It is an absolute great phone. We have two of them - fine photos and very speedy. Feels great and very robust hardware

 • Lol really?

 • That camera is very good actually. I use it at low light when color would take to many artefects.

 • Do you use B&W camera and how is the result, is there enough detail in the photos??

 • I do not face this issue so i cannot really tell, cause for me is the same since i bouvht it, 2 days with light usage and 1and about a half with heavy or 10 Hours with very heavy usage, i mean nonstop on the screen. Can you tell more? Have you monitored what apps take how much battery? Are you sure is a 8.1 problem and not an app? Maybe to reset to factory defaults could help? What i can tell you and i have noticed is that it lasts way longer when i charge the battery in a "chaotic" way. I mean, i never let it go down u.der 25% or rarely, when i have no charger. I've also noticed that staying on data(not wi-fi) will significanly reduce battery endurance. Data actually drains half more then wi-fi. At least this are my results after some testing. At work i do not use wifi cause of obvious reasons. You do not want an admin to see where it connects. And there is where the battery is being drained the most, let's say about 20 percent on an hour on screen while it manages 11% with wi-fi. I do not know where the catch, i would like to study the problem more, but i have no time. Well i do not think is a problem. At the end, all devices have this "issue".

 • true

 • wow nokia 3310 is much better than this...

 • Oh really! That's great to hear Carol. I will update soon. As I have previously informed, i faced a battery draining issue after 8.1 update. Any difference in battery performance?. Battery issue has been rectified or still there after Aug patch update. Please let me know guys

 • Hmm, that does not sound good. Take it back.

 • Well, then.go for 8. This device it ain't joking. Is fast.

 • Thos is really hard to answer because, well. Trolls. Actually, the camera is ok. No, is not 808, lumia 920, 1020 or 950 but.... if you know your stuff, you can do a lot of ggod things with it... meaning, it ain't close to the bad reputation it gets. At the end.... i am still to see a good pic taken by iphone or samsung. All talk about how good they are, nobody's able to proove it.

 • I actually love the design, but...y opinion. Anyway, does not matter how they all say, snapdragon 835 is just SUPERIOR. The rest? Your decision.

 • I have August update but i do not think we will receive Q update. P will be here, but that's all. At least, this is what HMD said. 2 years os updates, 3 years security.

 • This or Nokia 7 plus? I like the size but not the design that much.

 • Hi All, Anyone received Aug patch update? Or what all u think, we will directly going to receive Android P soon. I got this beautiful beast with an Oreo update out of the box. So shall we expect Android Q as last update :D. Any suggestions?

 • Thanks, really appreciate it...

 • No, it's not true! In good light conditions it's an excellent camera and in low light conditions you should not expect miracles; there are no smartphones who can shoot at night the same as in full day light. The majority of people expect a lot from auto modes on cameras but normally they forget about environment light conditions. You have to do a few tricks to get the right photo, if you have the time, if not you just get what you shoot right away. Nokia 8, though, has a very tricky (but good) pro mode and I can advise you to use the normal mode and just be a little confident on manual focusing and brightness values to get what you want.

 • Is it true that the original camera app of Nokia 8 is that bad quality? Didn`t the software updates improve it??

 • How about the camera after long term use ? becoz i read long term review of GSMArena, and the camera is not good

 • Thanks for your opinion. The thing is phones are overpriced in my country s8 and 7+ costs around 3400. Nokia costs 2400, 2100 for iPhone and 2000 for xz1. As I said before 6s s8 and 7+ costs double what people are payed for a month.

 • That's the mindset of the people. Lol you really considering iphone 6 as an option. I don't hate iphone 6. I had a 6s before Nokia 8. But Iphone 6 is just a waste of money if someone's buying one brand new, which means he/she would spend 400+ $ on this. 400$ for a 2014 device? Really? 2014 camera/processor/rams vs 2018 ones, just hear yourself, you sound (sorry to say this) insane! Nokia 8/XZ1 are great. Well but, doesn't XZ1 costs almost the same as a Oneplus 5T or a Galaxy S8? Nokia 8 is way cheaper. And you really should consider nokia 7 plus if you don't mind using a 6 inch phone. Nokia 8 is a solid option, so is XZ1. I recommend you consider individual prices of these 2 devices/3 (if you consider 7 plus) and buy the device which you seem to like the most. (bcos personal taste matters the most)

 • it's back camera is vibrating n camera will not focused how can fix it?

 • Ever heard of this problems he claimed at one place in just one device ever? I mean, ever? Feel free to believe what you want. I believe people who got real problems like: Display stains, or defects, camera defects, not turning on, not charging, wlan not working and so on. Software related issues like: Glitches lags, sudden shutdown, getting hot using cpu at it pitch, and so on. But i can't believe stories like: Please do not buy Nokia brand, here is why. I bought one and this device has all this problems, please do not buy it. I mean, this guys phone is made out of paper and has a jack attached to it, this is how it sounds. i'm still having very hard times believing this type of comments where... for example: the phone does not turn on and the usb OTG is not working. But to each his own.

 • Ok, sorry to hear that. If Nokia costs the same, definitely go for Nokia 8. Everything is just better, that is, if you like android of course.

 • It's because I live in Turkey. The 6s costs DOUBLE what people are payed for a month.

 • Then again, you are implicitly calling virtually everybody that hasn't been as lucky as yourself with their devices liars.

 • I am just curious, why would anyone even consider iphone 6 as a buy possibility in 2018? I mean, everything in that device is old and with the price you can find oh so many way better...

 • I am pretty sure he never owned this phone.

 • Wow, sorry, o have ery hard times believing this. VERY.

 • Nokia 8 should by far be the best choice among those, however I would also suggest you consider Nokia 7 Plus. Bear in mind it is quite big, though.

 • I have the z5 but it broke into half on its own. I can afford buying xz1 nokia8 iphone6 and htc u ultra. Which one can I use for two years? -Software update isnot a big issue if it is working just fine.

 • Seriously all those issues? Didn't you try factory resetting? And i don't understand the entire part about what you're saying! First it's a software issue and second it's hardware? Really? I think it's a software problem and a hard reset should most probably fix all those issues. Didn't you buy your phone under Nokia warranty? I bought mine under Nokia care warranty and it has 1 year hardware, 2 years software and 6 months display(in case of a drop and crack) warranty.

 • Can someone help me Should i buy nokia 8 or honor play

 • Hello Everyone, My name is Uttam Kumar. Please Don't buy Nokia Branded Mobiles. Reason - Read the full Comment. I have purchased a Nokia handset about 5 months ago Nokia -8 by paying approx 30,000 Rs. And then from the day of purchasing I am facing these problems in this handset. 1. Its touch not responding. 2. Home Key, Finger Print Sensor is not working properly. 3. Camera fails to open most of the time. 4. Charging issue. 5. OTG not working. 6. 2/10 times networks get disconnected. 7. Bluetooth connectivity gets break. I visited Nokia Service Center in Camp/GTB Nagar. They told me that these are only software related issues. We can’t make DO of this handset. You have to use this handset as it is, in this condition. If you will face any hardware related issue then we can hear you. Now after 5 months I am facing these same problems. They are telling me it’s a hardware issue. I asked the care employees when I can get my mobile. They answered they can’t tell me the time. We can get parts in 10Days, 15days, in 1 month or 2 months no idea you have to wait. After that I asked Service Center owner, He is telling me that Nokia has only one Service center in Delhi. You will get your handset as soon as possible. I have submitted my handset in care 15 Days ago. After that I Visited Nokia Care 2 times. They Doesn’t have its Charging Jack, Home Button, Sensor etc. They told me every time you will have to wait until we get the repairing parts and we can’t answer how much time it will take. They have blocked my permanent mobile no so I am unable to send feedback at 56161. I want to ask Nokia management that if you don’t have these little repairing parts then why you are making these mobile handsets. Just Shut Down Making of Nokia Brand in India if you can’t provide Services. Answer My These Questions? 1. Why should we buy Nokia Brand if we will not get any kind of post sale service? 2. How can we rely on Nokia if it’s Customer Feedback Service (SMS to 56161) is not working? 3. Why we believe on Nokia if it has only one service center in Delhi? 4. Why we buy Nokia brand if we can get same/batter featured mobiles of other brand in lesser price? 5. Why are you selling Nokia Mobiles without Post Sales Services?

 • Really impressed after several months but one problem has crept in and I'm not sure if it was something that I did or as a result of an update... The colour rear camera is stuck in macro mode. The monochrome one works perfectly. I've tried everything bar a complete factory reset!

 • P.S Nokia does not let bootloader unlock. They said they will, but iam not to sure about that. Maybe someone will brake it in the near future.

 • If you received the oreo update and then 8.1 i am sad to tell you but you should try to format the device. This big updates can also brin big glitches. If that's not the case, take it back and ask for another device. But i have a fealling it is al about cpu to software problem, somewhere inbetween something ain't "connected". As for the q update, i thibk p would be the last to come. To tell you the truth, i am quite ok with oreo, the security updates are more important, and i would be happier with should a firmware update that fixes the camera software "again" and some small glitches then installing P and beeing again.a part of an 75% backed system as oreo was at the beginning.

 • I have 2 questions: 1. How to unlock bootloader? 2. Does Android P is the final OS update? Do we get Android Q when it's released?

 • I bought mine yesterday. After installing all of the updates and copying all of my data to my new phone, I found that something wrong with the audio output. I noticed some noise or distortion (I don't know how to explain the issue) when I'm listening with my headphones. I tried 3-4 headphones (one of them is £150 Sony headphone), listening music with different apps (including spotify) and listening different music, nothing were changed. There is no problem with the speakers, they sound good at every volume level. And also if the volume is lower than 8/15, there is no distortion with headphones too. I usally notice this noise when I'm listening rock/metal music, like "Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark (at 00.30 - 01.00)" or "Slowdive - Sugar for the Pill (at the first 30 secs.)". I think the issue is software related, but I'm not sure.. Any opinion?

 • One has to be nuta to buy iphone6 in front of this one. Or an highly damaged ios fan.

 • So how bad is the Nokia 8's camera compared to 7 Plus? It's actually cheaper than the 7 Plus here and I'm confused about which one to buy

 • Using this for over a year Now. Never had an issue. Camera got better with theapp but not comparable with the N7 Plus. Speed has never went down, no heating issues and a decent battery life. Still lasts over a day in normal use. Awesome display.

 • I have an iPhone 6 and it is alright, but it lacks so many things. The Nokia 8 has those things, always on display for example, Bluetooth file transferring, mp3 support, customization. Go for the Nokia 8.

 • How's your camera experience on Nokia 8?

 • Why would someone ever want to add two numbers from same name on 2 separate contacts? When you're making a call, how to identify one from another separately. You can utilize some common sense and use a slightly different character to input 2 contacts with the same name...

 • It's a tough call. But i think Nokia 7 plus i think is a little bit better.... -Taller aspect ratio -Bigger display -Better batery life -Better camera Nokia 8 isn't bad by any means. It also has a few advantages like, -Arguably a better display (QuadHD vs Full HD on 7 plus) -A better processor (you won't notice much unless you're doing processor intensive tasks ie: high graphics gaming) -Compact size -Audio output through headphone jack and loudspeaker is better -ip54 splash resistance (well it's not much though) Personally i think you may be better off buying the 7 plus because it has a better camera compared to Nokia 8. I own a nokia 8. Camera is the one and only area i wish it was better.

 • Definitely Nokia 8 is a step up from iphone 6 from all the departments

 • I am bit struggling to chose between Nokia 8 (64GB, 4GB RAM) and IPhone 6 any one please suggest which is better...... also, any idea on Huawei Mate 10 LTE ??

 • 349 euro for this beauty of a phone in my country is a bargain for what you all get. Nokia is rock solid as always.

 • Yes ,, they are hardly noticeable but still its disappointing ,,, I will put a skin on it though !

 • so which one nokia 7 plus or nokia 8???

 • Why you repeating what I had explained?

 • Really? I've been using this phone over 4 months! No issues here :D

 • If you are expecting 6GB ram phone will show 6gb Free out of 6GB it's next to impossible.Same with 128 GB ROM phone will never show 128 GB Free.

 • if you wan't to add same name but different contacts phone app auto merge after five seconds.

 • Highly disappointing phone. Bought one 2 months back. Worked for a week n then started having charging issues auto on and off etc. Gave it to service centre who took a week to return n said all is well n then again same issue after 2-4 days and now not switching on for last 4 days. Again submitted to nokia care. Useless phone 1 🌟. Don't even think of buying Nokia. They are good enough for 3315 only.

 • Go to Battery section in Settings menu. There you can see individual batery usage by apps (since last full charge) Judging by your usage, i think it's pretty normal. I get around 5 - 6 hours of screen on time. I use wifi (maybe that helps preserving the battery just a little bit). Using mobile data will drain a lot of battery specially if the signal is weak. Try and see if the phone drains a lot over night. Mine only drains about 3-4% (max) over night.

 • Don't use plastic/polycarbonate cases since somehow they scratch the sides of the phone. I have applied a skin(purchased from ebay) to protect the back side of the phone. Mine also has a few minor scratches on the sides (due to a plastic case i think) but they are really hard to spot unless you're looking very closely

 • I am using a case and still it got little scufs ,,, not easily noticable but they are there ,,, I guess I just have to deal with it ,,,

 • Regarding the phone's battery draining a bit fast, my guess is it's probably normal, they really task the phone with so much data, it's surprising the battery can even work! A drop of 2% is not exactly a lot, and may just be it drains at the outset a bit more. The phone is doing a lot, so it's a big drain on any battery. I don't see anything to worry about.

 • I just bought the Nokia 8. Can anyone please suggest the best microphone I can use with this phone, mainly to do youtube tutorials, so my voice has to be crystal clear. Seems like a great phone, the specs for video are impressive, always been a Nokia fan, their phones just work great all the time.

 • Hi, Can u tell me one thing? Are you facing any battery drain issue. I purchased this May 7th. Using since then. As I previously mentioned(old post) after Oreo 8. 1 update, I feel battery drainage. Now I charge 100% & now it's 98%. after just browsing GSMArena. No apps in the background running. Do u feel this is a normal drain. I checked with the service centre and they said there is no battery leakage or Liquid damage for my device. I charge twice in a day with heavy usage. ( Browsing, IMO call,You tube, what's app, surfing, Facebook, video editing, smule, dubmash). If anyone else facing please let me know?.

 • Hi Bro, I am using a polished blue version. Its look so sexy. But definitely u need a case. Slippery also. Can't use without a case. Even tempered blue is good. If u get copper. Den go for it. Looks pretty than Polished/Tempered blue one. 😊👍

 • It gets scratched easily but is very durable

 • Use a case

 • I have the polished blue version and I want to know how much durable that is ,,, pocket ,Jeans ,table, keys .... Any one ... ?

 • Actually i am highly intolerant to ignorance ;). Just because you turned from a typical troll into a person that actually has a problem, does.not mean you can get out clean. Then trying to pin-point the "abuzer", it ain't working. I still hold my ground, and if you were so hungry of knowing how i behave, you could have already seen that i actually try to help people (if i can) with their problems, when they actually need help or advices. The only ones i bash are the liers, ignorants and trolls. Aand nope, i do not feel guilty or appologize for that.

 • Judging by your language over several posts now it is obvious you are not an adult, so I apologize for the insult it was believing you are one. :-P I realize you have had no problems with your device and am glad on your behalf because of that, but the way you bash and abuse other people who haven't been as lucky as yourself isn't exactly charming. Stop it.

 • And I'm telling you, I got a version with 128 GB storage and 4 GB RAM. Strange, isn't it?

 • Well, you know, sometimes is the user:). As for the camera, is not bad in my opinion i own lumia 1020 and 950xl and the mighty nokia n8. I compared them to see if all this crapp about nokia 8 camera being bad is true. I am not bragging here, just for the info, so to know against what device nokia 8 was put on, by me of course. While dx0 mark(aka: wannabe) has put them all in bad light i have hard time to find this samsungs that actually have better cameras, also this iphones that make better pictures then any device ever, really hard times. Me, being one of the few that's not a trend sheep you can figure it out i had the chance to test them against eachother also. Well not that specific as with my own devices, but well... anyway against my devices, Nokia 8 stood well in good light conditions. A bit more sharpness here and there but nothing one can complain about. In the dark, was not that great at focusing, that i think is the main problem. Focusing in the dark. But well, never test it again after the camera pro update. Now, the focus is way faster and if people know a bit about cameras, they can take good shots in bad light also. It is true, the camera could be better, but it ain't as bad as all sheppy people here that never used it, are trying to claim. Am i satisfied with the camera after all this big guns i had? Actually it is ok. All i miss is the real lumia camera software, this "maschup" is not quite there.

 • I am sorry, but would you mind someone that tells you this story? Go to somesung comment sections, and tell them this storys. Go to apple, sonny and they will all call you: Troll. Why. Cause you started with a bunch of nonsense. Read you comment first, before telling me to grow up, you might discover who need to do that. A normal person. Would send this device back without commenting like a kid on a rampage game. A normal person would have told them to change it. Would have openend it right their and if the problem persists would have send to nokia the proof that their is something bad going on and of course would have give the device back and would for sure try other retailer. That way, HMD can identify if the devices are fake, retailer really bought them or they have a problem in a factory. Insead you came here tallking nonsese without any proof of being true, shouting like aad man how Nokia decived you(still laighting at this joke) Good luck with that mentality in this word. Might help you cros a bridge.

 • 128 GB, 6 GB RAM or 64 GB, 4 GB RAM

 • My nexus 6p reports it has 2.9 GB total RAM, which it should have, according to its specs. The Nokia 8 however reports it has 3.9 total RAM, whereas it should have 6 according to its specs. So no, I'm pretty sure my Nokia 8 has 2 GB less than promised on the box.

 • Are you sure it just 4gb ram. I think it is 6gb ram but only 4gb ram free at the time you check it. 2 gb ram already in used after first boot. 6gb ram phone wont show 6gb free ram. I doubt it show 128gb free storage either. You should have less user available storage.

 • "In good lighting conditions, nokia 8 takes beautiful shots. But it suffers in dark/indoor shots. " It doesn't have to. :-) I have used the Google camera app (https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2/ ) and have gotten some quite decent results. Also, the Pro mode of Nokia's own can improve low-light shots, but it requires some tinkering. If it is really dark you might as well use the monochrome camera, since you won't see much colour unless you use the flash anyway. So actually I think Nokia 8 has a quite decent camera, although it can't compare with Samsung or Apple or Huawei.

 • Simply put, it's an excellent smartphone for everyday use. I'm very fond of it as a user.

 • I think you should go for Nokia 8.

 • I have asked the seller to discuss this with Nokia, since my attempt didn't get us anywhere. If they can confirm that I've got a faulty device they can send me a new one, provided it is how it should be (with 6 GB RAM). If it turns out that the 128 GB storage version in fact does not have more than the 64 GB storage version, i.e. 4 GB RAM, I'll go for a refund instead. Maybe I'll purchase Nokia 9 instead when that arrives in that case, or the Pixel 3.

 • Good to hear that the seller promised to offer you a refund. It's the first time I heard something like this though.

 • I also used a 6s before buying the nokia 8. Comparing iphone 6s with nokia 8, nokia 8 wins on :- --- Batery life --- Display --- Audio (loudspeaker & headphones audio quality) --- Performance (iphone 6s is fast, but Nokia 8 is faster because it's sporting a snapdragon 835) --- Display = Nokia 8 has a QHD panel --- ip54 splash resistance (its not something to be proud of,but at least it's there) ios vs android is a tough one. But since this Nokia has stock/pure android you will feel at home. Camera is a tough call. I think (may be I'm wrong) Nokia 8 has the better camera. I didn't like the iphone 6s camera because I owned a S7Edge before that and it had a beast of a camera. In good lighting conditions, nokia 8 takes beautiful shots. But it suffers in dark/indoor shots. Overoll it's a really great device...

 • hi guys, am using iphone 6s from past 1-1/2 years an excellent phone except battery performance these days. when am on travel i keep worrying that will it last till evening, i stop everything runs in background location many other to protect the battery even i charge full and keep it in battery saving mode. But with moderate usage only browsing whatsapp and calls, it gets to some 10% by evening. So now thinking to shift from iphone due to this issue and thought of nokia 8 for the reason of 5.3 screen all other mobiles are higher than 5.5 screens as i was looking for a screen around 5". what is your opinion on this is it a good move to buy this phone for my needs. i dont use games and others

 • Does Nokia make amoled screen phone ? Looks so much better than IPS when compared side by side.

 • "Well, i think Nokia employee have no time to give attention to trolls. And that is why, they ignored you. Have you tought tough, when all the storry is true, which i doubt... you probably paid for a 128gb device but recived an 64 gb with 4 gb RAM? Why is Nokia fault for a m'''ron that does not connect the dots and buys devices from who knows what retailers that, probably made a mistake and delivered the wrong version? Some people amaze me." And me. First you berate me for being a tr0ll, then you go on an abuse-rant that's just hilarious to read. I have a box that says the phone has 128 GB storage and 6 GB RAM, but a phone that says it has 128 GB storage and 4 GB RAM. So no, I have not got the wrong version. Other than that, grow up and behave like an adult if you are one.

 • "It's most probably your fault, assuming you didn't choose the right seller or you didn't check what you're actually buying. If this happend on ebay or a online purchase, it's understandable. But idk man, you shouldn't really put the blame on Nokia (HMD) because it's extremely unlikely that they would do something like this especially when they're trying to settle down in smartphone industry..." That is what puzzles me also. Why would they want to do that? There's no reason that makes sense. Other than an error in production. Which they are unwilling to admit can happen. And no, it's not "my fault". Buying a phone is an investment, so of course I do my homework before purchasing. I'm not that rich; I can't afford purchasing something that doesn't meet my requirements. In fact I deliberately avoided purchasing the 64 GB storage version (which has 4 GB RAM, yes) since the price of the 128 GB storage version in my opinion gave more value for the money. The phone was absolutely super, but when you realize that you have got a product that doesn't have the advertised properties, THAT'S when you realize you have been cheated (though as I say, I can't believe Nokia has done this on purpose). The seller is as I've said a respectable firm in my country that took responsibility immediately and promised me a refund. However, if there are more devices with 4GB RAM that should in fact have 6, Nokia should investigate and clear up any misunderstandings - maybe the box says wrong, that the device only has 4? There hasn't been any will to do so as far as I'm concerned, though.

 • "Does the imei number matches with the imei number on the phone?" Yes. And the phone has the storage it should have (128 GB), but 2 GB RAM less than advertised on the box.

 • I will on Monday. Bought it from an online vendor in my country that doesn't mess with stuff in such a way, as it is the fastest way out of business (our consumers' rights legislation is quite draconic, and competition is tough since we're a small country). They are looking into it and will contact Nokia/HMD about this, since every box of the 128 GB storage model they have say that the device has 6 GB RAM. I will get my refund, yes, but what I want is a new phone that actually has the properties the package claims it to have. I will see what Nokia 9 has to offer, but for now it seems that my next phone will be a pixel.

 • Search youtube "how to spot a fake galaxy note 8 / iphone x/ iphone 7" or whatever model you like. Manufacturers can't control chineese of theft companies making fake devices looking exactly the same as the original. That's why it's highly recommended to buy phones from authorized dealers under company warranty. If your story is true, - may be the phone is a repackaged device (search youtube for iphone repacking in china) Dude this world is full of theives, bad people trying to fool someone and call it a day. You gotta be smart. It's most probably your fault, assuming you didn't choose the right seller or you didn't check what you're actually buying. If this happend on ebay or a online purchase, it's understandable. But idk man, you shouldn't really put the blame on Nokia (HMD) because it's extremely unlikely that they would do something like this especially when they're trying to settle down in smartphone industry...

 • Didn't you return the phone to the seller? What was his response? Didn't you check the phone when you bought it? Didn't you buy it with warranty? Does the imei number matches with the imei number on the phone?

 • Looks like you n me have got the best nokia 8 devices. Me here, never encountered a problem :D (except for the camera)

 • How strange that the box says it has 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Or what?

 • Tought about the fact it might have a defect? Or your charger has some problems, or or or. My device never had such problem. Actually, never had a problem.

 • This questions are really du* b, pardon my expression butthey really are..buy what you like. Nokia 8 is a great device, i would no way give it for mi, oneplus or whatever others.. but, that is me.

 • Well, i think Nokia employee have no time to give attention to trolls. Some people amaze me.

 • Guys .. which is better nokia 8 64 gigs 4 ram.. or xiaomi mi6? ..pls help

 • Had this phone for 4 days, and it seemed to operate well. However, I purchased the 128 GB which is supposed to have 6 GB RAM. My device however reported it had 4. Tried to advise Nokia about this, but their opinion was that this was something I had to resolve with the seller. Since stating the product has been properties than it actually has in fact is fraud, I have returned the device to the seller and probably won't purchase another Nokia since they do not care that they are selling the product under false flag. Score: 1/10, DON'T purchase the 128 GB ROM version of this, unless you can check first that it actually has the 6 GB RAM promised on the box....

 • It's butter smooth. Not good for heavy games. Camera is good. Battery standby is amazing

 • IT'S AMAZING!! Its smooth and and charges fast and its very good for playing games. Haven't experienced and problem..

 • Its charging is not good, sometimes it stops getting charged after a few seconds.

 • ive heard from a few people that all moto phones are not the greatest that they have over heated and got to the point of catching fire.

 • Can any nokia 8 user tell me about the performance of the mobile and the battery for the (4gb ram)

 • Please keep your glance screen off it literally drain your battery

 • Hi audio out put is better on G6 but older SOC snapdragon 821 while Nokia uses 835, audio output on Nokia 8 is somewhat satisfactory am an audiophile myself but anyway I sold the Nokia 8 and bought a LG V30S ThinQ that's the phone to beat the best audio performance on any smart phone. But with Nokia 8 you will be somewhat satisfied and they are very good with updates while LG lags behind. Cheers mate 😊

 • go for moto g6plus motorola g6 plus not g6

 • In India , presently, the difference between this phone and the one plus 6 is 7k , that's roughly a 100$ difference, considering the camera the screen the audio and primarily the battery, what would you guys suggest I should buy PS I own a Lenovo P2... Essentially a normal phone with an oled screen and a giant 5000mah battery

 • It's improved a bit but still not as good as before June update

 • WTH GSMArena! Why did you remove Nokia 8 in the Top 10 by Fans!? Sony XZ Premium and Samsung S8+ are older than that. Why not remove them first?

 • On paper 32 but is much better. But unless you're using a professional grade headphones and a really well tuned ears (lol but yeah seriously) you won't notice a difference. And yes, OZO audio is for recording videos - doesn't have any effect on media playback. But i recommend you to take a look at AUDIO section of Nokia 8 and LG G6 reviews done by gsmarena... I haven't used a LG G6, but Audio department of Nokia 8 is top notch. Details about nokia 8:- Details about LG V20 (same audio DAC as G6:- Compare above details (like Signal to noice ratio and etc) come to a conclusion. But the bottom line is you won't be disappointed with either of them. Nokia 8 has some benifits from Hi-res audio (I think) and that'll only matter of you listen to FLAC files and you've got a great pair of tripple driver(or high quality) headphones.

 • It's simple math. It's like calculating the time you'll take to finish a journey. Let's say, Batery capacity = 3000mAh (roughly) When device is idle batery drains at a rate of 30mA per hour. So it'll take 100 hours for the batery to be empty. So it will show as you can use the devicd for 100 hours. If you start an application and let's say it needs 2000mA per hour, batery will be empty within 1.5 hours. So the batery monitor will show something like "1 hour and 25 minutes left"...

 • Bcos it's bare bones (stock) android.

 • Yeah if they can give us the ability to change resolution and color temperature, it would be great.

 • Yeah, matt varient kinda hide scratches, while polished on is super prone to scratches. Therefore i applied a skin on the back side. And if you're using it without a case, note that polished varient is super slippery.

 • Hey guys. Does the polished varient get scratched easily compared to the matt varient. Im hopeing to use the phone without a case so will buying the polished one would be a BAD idea ???

 • The battery hasn't been great ever since I bought this phone. It was average. But I agree with most of you that after the June security update the battery has gotten worse. Not bad but I notice bigger drop than before. I wish Nokia could role an update to give users control to adjust the display resolution like Samsung. I feel if we can drop it to full HD 1080p. The battery life will be good.

 • I have also noted a frustrating battery drain on the new update.

 • Yes, I will try it. Thanks a lot for the update Carol ☺️. Guys, Please tell me whoever updated the July patch level.. Is there any difference in Battery performance... Nokia 8? Draining issue. Please give faithful review. Need to update as per your opinions..

 • Yes I will try.... Carol, Thanks a lot for ur info. Guys, please tell me anybody updated the July patch level. Is there any difference in battery performance? Awaiting for ur response to update it.

 • Yes, i got the update but i did not installed it yet. I did an format after the last 8.1 update. Cause i do not like how android updates, a lot of times gives errors and crippels the devices. Anyway, i also have noticed that the battery last lesser when drains under 20 percent. I do not know why. But i habe encounter the problem more then 2 times. Since then i never let it go under 25% and charge it to somewhere 90. When i chargile it to 100 it lasts longer. But never ever let it under 20. I would recomand to charge when reaches 30%. See if something changes.

 • Yes , I use both data and wifi. Currently connected with hotspot. I agree with that I shows 2 days and changes to 1 day. The days are reduced within mints ha hah But hardly I am getting 18 to 20 hrs all usage. Not getting one day compared to Motorola Xiaomi and Redmi ( by the way not a Chinese phone fan) People suggested me to buy that, but I trust Nokia . Used a lot. 2 days is much better than my device buddy. I was getting that before update. Almost 1 half day. One thing I can say excluding this everything is way better. But main thing I observed battery performance issue only after 8.01 update and before that I was fine. Have u received July patch update?. Hope it will clear once get the patch updates.

 • Well, their are a looot of questions that could be asked but for the moment it sounds ok. Do not take the battery remain calculator seriously, it will just drive you mad, make this test if you don't believe me. Charge it to 100. Live it 10 min after 100% mark(or more then 10) is reached. Take it out of the current socket and do not use it for 3 Hours or more. You will suddently see a 3 or 4 days remain mark. Anyways, going back to the problem. Are you connected all the time ? With? Wi-fi or data? Data will eat way more battery then wi-fi, especially in poor area signal. So expect more drain when.using ut. On screen time will not be more the. 12 hours, no matter what you're doing. But 10 hours is still, a lot, for continuasly on screen usage. So in my opinion, your device is ok, you are just using it more intense, i suppose? And that is why is showing 10 hours mark. Kind of how much nokia l8 lasts if constantly pushed. Normaly i get a day and a half with about 6 hours screen usage. I got two days two with the same usage. But i think that happens only when not using data at all.

 • Hi All, I am a Nokia User since 2 months. I have few doubts. Please guide.. As mentioned in previous comments, I feel battery drain issue after 8.10 update as previously mentioned by some people. All trouble shooting done as per reviews. Please confirm ... 1. Removed from 100 % before 2 Hrs. It's not drained in idle today ( If it's idle after 20 -30 mints goes to 99 - 97% usually) 2. Started using after 2hours 100% (usage a video call, Browsing) it's reduced to 82%. & Shows About 10hrs 5 mint left (settings). Once started using you tube along with browsing (using split screen) that 5 mint will changes as 9hrs 43 mint. 3. Got yesterday battery back up after full recharge 20 hrs10 mints (charged @5%) Please suggest me is it a Good battery back up compared to other mobiles or drains. I charge twice in a day. Only yesterday it's like this. Now when I post this battery is 79% (took 20 mints). Please assist immediately. Last full charge ( 4h 57 mint) Screen usage (2h 7m) About (10h 5m left)

 • Why Nokia 8 has no built in themes, suck.!

 • The phone is Best unless it goes to the service center. Whereby you will never it get back for months... reason... replacement parts not available...and that too when the phone is under warranty.

 • currently stuck with lg g6 & nokia 8. which has better audio ouput through earphones? appreciate any answer thanks.

 • Besides Nokia 7 plus. The Samsung galaxy s8 is also a good choice and the Huawei view 10

 • You wanna know what Nokia 8 really is? Search "Best of Android 2017" and there'll be a series of detailed comparisons of best 2017 Android flagships - explained sectionwise (Display, Performance, Camera, etc). Read the whole thing and you'll realize what a performer Nokia 8 really is. Costing around 350-400 USD, this thing is absolutely the best bang for buck smartphone right now. (mid-range smartphones cost more i think) Pros: --- Really smooth performance (I'm using Nova Launcher) --- Audio department is great --- Display is a class leading LCD panel --- Batery life is great --- Nokia is known for build quality Cons: --- Kinda outdated design (16:9 panel) --- Camera performance is bad at low lighting conditions (In good lighting condition, it can take pretty good looking shots) Alternative available = Nokia 7 plus --- 18:9 display (but no QHD) --- Snapdragon 660 is quite good, can handle day-to-day tasks without any problems --- Camera is better than Nokia 8 --- Audio is a downgrade (no 24but/192Hz support - loudspeaker also weaker)

 • Hi! I have a Nokia 8, and absolutely love it. Ultra fast, uptodate android (security included); it's true that the first camera app was a little poor (specially on low light scenarios)... but with the update to the pro app (in June, at least here in Chile) improved a lot. It may take some blurry images in low light conditions still, but it was a major improve eith the update. I tried Samsung note 8, s9 and huawei p20 pro: The lens response is fastest (less blurry images), but with good ilumination and/or outside pictures it take awesome pics. The most importante thing is that here in Chile I bought it 3 month ago at U$350.00, at the same time the 3 models that I refer earlier were around U$1000.00. Hope it help you! Ps. Sory for my english, it's a little out of use hahaha

 • I am a bit confused reading the original review and long term review. Also, some sites are giving positive feedback of Nokia 8 camera and for some sites the camera performance is absolutely poor. Any Nokia 8 user here who can comment?

 • which is better lg g6 - 32-bit/192kHz audio or nokia 8 - 24-bit/192kHz audio when playing media? (youtube, music, movies) the OZO audio is for the recorded ones right? it does not affect when you're playing in the web app or downloaded music/movies. thanks. been thinking if nokia 8 or lg g6.

 • Simple question: Am considering moving to this phone from Nexus 6P. Camera is a very important feature for me. Has the camera update recently fixed some of the shortcomings mentioned in most reviews - that mostly are from fall 2017? Or are there limitations still, even if considered an upper midrange device? It is either this or the 7 Plus from the same brand...

 • yes it does

 • The battery performance is very inconsistent. Day before yesterday only 4% of battery drain throughout the night. But yesterday I unplugged it at 11:30PM and whrn I woke up at 8:00AM it was 80% means the total drain was 20%. When I checked the details, the app usage data was not available and when I checked the breakdown the highest usage was Phone Idle which was 9%. Don't know how to tackle it, will a hard reset work? Any other suggestions?

 • The reason for this is that Nokia use stock android.

 • Does the back of the polished blue version get scratched easily ?

 • Also, try to monitor the apps that tend to use background battery for more then 3 to 5 percent, they should not use that much.

 • I thought your problem solved :D If you're not satisfied, --- Charge your device to 100% before sleeping --- Leave your phone like that and in the morning : Go to Settings >> Battery >> Scroll down :- Here you can see how much batery consumed by individual apps since last full charge.

 • I have formatted the device after it was updated to June security. I also have a lot of apps installed, I will try to block them running in the background. One thing that may be causing battery drain is I always keep my data connection ON. I will try to switch it OFF tonight to see the difference.

 • Start with apps. This is not normal. I have over 80 apps installed and 27 of them are allowed to run in the back. Email, whatsapp firewall, traffic monitoring widgets and so on. Over night, 8 hours does not drain more then 4 to 6 percent. So, you have a bad app. Or. Especially that is a new device... First thing first: did you formated it after all the tons of updates it received? If not, Do It! Will make the phone way smoother and stable. Also, let the device settle before you install something. See if it uses normal battery life without your prefered apps. Install apps one by one and monitor the behaviour. Use auto screen brightness. P.s if you use data as a source of internet be sure that no apps are hogging the connection. Data will eat the battery faster then wi-fi. I can actually say, will eat double the battery that wi-fi eats especially in poor signal areas.

 • As you suggested, I removed cache, restarted the device and turned off the Bluetooth. Unplugged it at 4AM and at 8AM the battery was 96%.

 • 4% of the battery drained overnight (Fifa app was running in background)

 • It's not usual (i think). I keep wifi, mobile data on all the times while keeping location on sometimes. Overnight I'm only loosing a 2-3% (maybe 5%) and that's something i really love about this phone. Try again today. Try clearing the cache data, a reboot(aka soft reset) and keep bluetooth off. I will comment again tomorrow after measuring precisely.

 • After the June security patch it has become like this otherwise it was great

 • Bought Nokia 8 model TA-1004 two days back. But I am not satisfied with the battery performance. Last night at 11:30PM I unplugged the charger after charging the phone to 100% and left the phone unattended, when I woke up at 7:30AM, the bettery gone down to 85%. Can you guys please confirm if it is usual? The device's Wifi, Data connection, Bluetooth, location services were all switched ON.

 • Yeah it would've been very nice if we could adjust screen color temperature or perhaps a few color modes. But the batery life is great despite the fact that it's only 3000mAh. Touch sensitivity, idk, because for me, this is a very smooth and clean Android experience.

 • nope it doesn't have any heating issues. It got liquid cooling

 • For me is the battery actually really good. What do you mean by average? The screen is infact to sensitive registering comands to fast. But this is a firmware issue.

 • No problem. I was was a bit enthusiast cause i wanted it for my girl. With that money. It is like stealing. :D. Anyway. Amazon has it for about 250. Not bad at all.

 • Sorry I was mistaken with the Nokia 5 or 6, but the Nokia 8 is 399 euro here in The Netherlands.

 • is the 6gb ram version available in syria

 • No I feel it's not as sensitive as samsung. I'm not using screen protector. But it's not a problem it's usable. I wish Nokia could given display color settings mode. Screen looks too cool for my liking. Prefer warm tone color. Overall beside the average battery life. It's a good phone. Super build quality A+.

 • Do you have any screen protector on? Mine also has a tempered glass installed. I don't have any problems with the touch sensitivity though...

 • Touch sensitivity should improve with an update. Not as sensitive as other phones.

 • I am mistaken, it's available here for 399 euro. The Nokia 5 is only 149 euro and an absolute bargain for that price.

 • Wow, really? Where do you live. I need another one.

 • You have to scroll through all your open screens to see the clear all button. Why isn't it visible all the time?

 • Currently available for just 149 euro in my country and that is like budget pricing. For that price there is simply no competition.

 • Wow....u r genius...... And hav one more question about camera.....nokia 8 camera hav pro mode?? Like iso, shutter speed control??? And one more question its hav heating issue?? Or i il get any better choice mobile in this month end?? Can you suggest me any one... Pls its mine humble request... (Camera, processor is my important thing )

 • Thanks ji.....nokia x6 available in India, ecspecialy available in Tamil Nadu??? It's price range??

 • Half of the display is dead. Does any one else having this issue??

 • i am from saudia, i can send sms to all friend but i can not send sms to sim services number example 959 or 900 it's always showing 'not sent ' plz tell me about this solution ...

 • Here's a quick review/tips? on the camera. Please for the love of god install GCam as soon as you get the phone because the stock camera on the device will produce horrible pictures (Well not horrible , they are good , but certainly not up to flagship level). with the GCam the camera on this device becomes a beast , with one exception. the indoor snaps , with or without GCam , the camera on Nokia 8 doesn't seem to perform that good and I'm not sure what the problem is. Low-Light performance outdoors is great and up there with any other flagship but as soon as you come indoors you'll start to loose details and colors aren't entirely accurate. Even my old Mi5 out performs Nokia 8 when I'm indoors. Conclusion (With GCAM) - Outdoor Photography 9/10 Low-Light Performance 9/10 Indoor Performance 5/10 Focus 6/10 (auto focus is definitely slower than it should be)

 • Battery has a very nice response, for me; I use the phone as a daily unit and the battery lasts easily up to late evening - no games, though, just 4g, wifi, calls and social should last at least 24 hours. As for the camera, you shoulg get used to it. I would recommend using the simple profile and not the pro mode. In good lightning conditions is an excellent camera; not so much in the dark, but, this too depends on how frequently you use the camera and your specific needs... It's an excellent phone, I would recommend you to buy the copper color; it's a catch to the eye, very unique!

 • Plz any one tell me. Nokia 8 battry and camera performance plz urgent. I will purchased it

 • How do you know that? You do not own the device! How do i know this? Well, it has quite goooooooood battery.

 • It all boils down to you. If you are a gimmick lover. Then nope it ain't worth it.

 • Very very very very very very very very very very very poor battery.......

 • For the price? Definetly. 100%. This is a flagship performance at a midrager price.

 • nokia is back super

 • buy x6 instead

 • Ji... It's worth to buying?? Or any other choice available??

 • photo normal. video low . performance excellent . software excellent. update speed excellent .

 • Any one suggest me.... Nokia 8 is worth to buy??? user tell me ur suggestion

 • Are you sure you have a nokia 8? It sounds mote like a xiaomi or whatever other knockof brands. I owe this phone, and nothing is true for me. Especially, build quality.

 • Yes i think you're covered under warranty. Read the warranty card of you have it. Mine states it's 1 year hardware and software warranty.

 • if you want a gaming phone for around $350- $500 (new or used) I highly recommend this. Bad camera UI? download Google Cam App I have this phone for my lil' brother for his games especially emulators, runs good and no lags. He mostly use it for his games that are 3D and barely use the camera.

 • Honestly the camera app is garbage. No 60fps. Very limited features. I would like Nokia to bring back the lumia camera app back to the android phone. It was the best camera app Nokia have created.

 • I think you should return it using the warranty. From what you write I think it's a problem of software hardware integration. These problems, yes, they are covered by warranty. Just returm it and get a new one.

 • Soft / hard reset didn't work. Android itself got broken, I suppose the only way to fix it is to reinstall the ROM. I doubt that software related bug could be a reason to change the phone through warranty. I guess im just unlucky because similar stuff happens with every android i own.

 • Do you have warranty?? Your claims on side scratching isn't entirely false, (because the shiny / polished aluminum) but I've used my phone for about 4 months now. Dropped a couple of times (luckily i had a case then) and I've installed a cobon fibre texture skin to prevent the back from scratching. And the camera, yes better not to mention that because it's the way it is. But the software problems look strange. Try a factory reset. Mine is working great, smooth, no hiccups or slowdowns. And... for me, the speaker sounds great, loud and crisp. Audio output is loud enough to the point i hardly increase the volume more than 25%

 • For the price, this device is quite good. Nonetheless there are few issues I have had with it: There are almost no good cases for it, the original one is bulky, has no magnet Build quality isn't that great; sides and screen get scrached very easily, nokia letters on back can fall off ( I am missing letter K) Camera performance in dark is dissapointing, no 60fps video makes it very questionable choice There are some issues with software aswell. It may seem to be stock and clean, but as usual with android it tends to break. Problem with mine is that once disabled, it is very hard to turn on my nokia 8 - it keeps restarting, android doesn't load. It takes 30+ min to get it going. Once it turns on, all is fine until random restart happens. Speaker quality and loudness could be better.

 • Yeah i thought the same thing. Camera is improved i thing. Usability wise, now it has much easier controls; for example switching between primary and secondary cameras. And I'm not sure about the picture quality. There's visible noice in even moderate lightning conditions, auto focus is not really acceptable. I think there's more room for improvement. I really hope HMD will work on this despite releasing a successor to Nokia 8 (I'm talking about Sirocco)

 • I had a s7 edge before Nokia 8. It's a lovely thing. Elegant, beautiful... Edge never causes problems when viewing web pages or watching videos or when playing games. Only downside of the edge display is, good screen protectors are hard to come by and durability wise, it matters. Consider dropping a flat screen phone and an curved screen phone, curved screen device has an increased chance of cracking or damaging the display... But in that case, accidents happen right? Results are unpredictable. So basically, curved screen devices are a thing of beauty and doesn't have negetive effects on day to day activities :) (sorry i wrote too much

 • Yup especially for its price of 350 dollars it's a steal

 • Very simply put: Nokia 8 is an excellent smartphone for everyday use! I'm using it from the last 3 months and I've no real complaints about it; maybe the screen dimension of 5,3" was a bit awkward (used a 5,5" HTC before)... Not much else to complain about...

 • I have used the s7 edge and the edge used to be very problematic for me

 • I don't know what they're talking about. Pro Camera update made the algorithms better. The picture taking is a bit snappier and clearer than the old update. But I'm open for HMD Nokia to keep on improving it.

 • Never used curved glass telephone. Does it cause any problems. Esp. I read alot with the telephone reddit/novels

 • Camera update have made things worse for me. Most of the time my pictures are coming out blurry. I have to wait 3 seconds after taking a shot for the pictures to be clear. Frustrating.

 • Just stupid when you think Nokia made this software on lumia and now they nned so much time to do it for the crappy android.

 • I strongly agree with you, i received my update on 12th June around 17hrs. I wish i never updated to Camera Pro. It takes very crappy pictures now and it can't focus in the dark, pictures are coming very dark and sometimes it fails to fucus so it is just dark you can't see anything.

 • Yeah, the camera is crapp. Got to say. They really need to repair this software. I cannot turn pro mode when device is in landscape. And i do not want to format it again only cause of that. Anyhow, their are better camera software, they really need to keep up.

 • Camera app update is available but i don't think any app can use of ozo sound recording

 • The update is good but the video recorder is worse then before and the video is quite cropped although i think with all the people complaining at Nokia forums it might be quickly fixed

 • How is the sound quality for earphones?

 • The camera update arrived in Macedonia yesterday!

 • Team Nokia 8 fulfills its functions very well, excellent camera, long-term battery, function in games without problem.

 • Just got the Pro Mode

 • its fast and better than samsung..

 • How to turn off mirror selfies...

 • I am from India actually.

 • Two questions? Any sound recording app that allows usage of the ozo audio feature and anyone else having problem making an audio note in the Keep app? Secondly how can we upgrade the camera app?

 • Good phone, great performance. I love it. Just bigger screen would be better

 • Just own this for a two week, great phone, great price, love it. Performance is very good but camera is not bad.

 • I used amoled for more then 7 years. Now i owe the Nokia 8. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that the screen is smaller then what i had before on lumia 950xl. And that's about it

 • Yup, exactly, because kids are like the squirrels. Now you see them, now you don't. Especially the babys: They run like the wind.

 • Hi Udit. If you are from Macedonia, how did you manage to install it? I'm checking within the system update! Still nothing!

 • dont buy nokia if u have used samsung, its camera is horrible very slow, u cant capture kids activity

 • Any news about Update? You received it?

 • .

 • I request all of the members mail to Nokia that update fornotification light up

 • I'm actually worried about the display. I'm coming from a galaxy s6 which had an amoled display and i loved that display, but would that be a problem with the Nokia 8 given it's an ips panel?

 • If you wanna experience flagship device then you should purchase Nokia 8, Nokia 7 plus is a mid ranger. currently am using Nokia 8 its super fast and has best display quality

 • dear nokia 7 plus and nokia 8 users please can you confirm me which is the best phone from both of them

 • Have you installed a screnn protection? That might be why. Nokia 8 does not like screen protectors to much.. In rest, it is something funny with it after oreo update but nothing that bothers. I actually feel oreo does not register the movements when unlocking. I tested the screens touch quite a bit and the slightest touch will show i touch it and where. So, some things might also be cause of the system it self.

 • Received the update for my Nokia 8. The update size was of 603 MB, got pro camera update bas well. The low light photography got really enhanced.

 • Nokia - When we'll have the camera software update in Macedonia? Still nothing!

 • is is in the top right corner when you tap recent apps button , you have to scroll to the top first

 • It surely not as sensitive..!But it misses what samsung have recently perfecting starting with their Samsung S6-Document editing capability

 • I have a slight issue with Nokia 8. Does anyone else notice that N8's touch is not as sensitive as samsung's. Its not bad but it is not that sensitive. Specially when the device is lying down, if you double tap screen to wake it up, it does not register the touches many times. Overall use is fine and you don't notice this in general usage. Do tell if anyone feels the same.

 • Well, i looked for an app that does this for more then 2 Months now.

 • Dude that's a brilliant idea actually, let's email the idea

 • You can clear all the apps at once, just tap the multi-tasking key and scroll to the top - there you'll find the clear all button

 • I like the phone but needs some adjustments. Firstly, please can we see the 'clear all' when all open apps appear on the screen.

 • I feel they could give an update to make the navigation light, light up when the phone receives notification. At least this will solve the problem. I'm having problem too with the lack of notification light.

 • Same here

 • Own a Nokia 8, the phone is good with an exception that it does not have LED notification, I missed a lot of important missed calls and SMS, I hope Nokia will look into the shortcoming seriously as this is one of the most important features mandatory to most users

 • Same thing -(

 • Go to Settings -> Display -> Advanced -> all the way down "Navigation key light", just tap on it and then switch off the option to " Keep light up while tap or flip " .

 • Country? In Germany still nothing.

 • receive an update today (camero pro, stability, and ui enhancements)

 • Ok, let me help you all this people here with this question cause was asked a lot of times. Me, having the posibility to work with bouth (as always :D) i can tell you that Nokia 7 is a very great crafted device. Between the two, 7 looks just better. Now i owe nokia 8, would i give it for nokia 7?. Nope. Why? Nokia 8 might not be the most beautifull between the two, but has more power under the hood. Nokia 7 has quite a good cpu is smooth and does not lag, but nokia 8 is faster at some tasks, heavier tasks will give to nokia 8 some advantages cause of it's snapdragon 835. That does not mean the 7+ does not have power, cause it also packs a lot of it. Nokia 8 has smaller screen while also having less screen to body ratio. So, if you do not like big bezzels it might bother you. But, nokia 8 has physical buttons, i do not like on screen buttons. Camera? Nokia 7 kind of win's way better focus speed, and greater lowlight performance. Battery life i cannot compare. Testing a device won't let me really know how is the battery life in nokia 7+. But nokia 8 has quite a good battery. Up to 2 and a half days with normal usage. Living aside Camera and Maps, they will eat into the battery quite a bit. 6 gb ramversion of 7+ makes it betterin multitasking, but then again, nokia 8 also has a 6 gb ram version. At the end, it all boils down to who wins. Where i live, i would go for nokia 8 cause is actually 40€ cheaper 350 nokia 8 vs 399 nokia 7. Ah, quality of them devices. They bouth are build like a tank. Do not worry, nokia 8 might be thin but it ain't gonna bend in your pocket like some way more expensive devices do. That is something i can assure you. So, what to choose. Simple if nokia 8 is 100€ euros more expensive then 7 and you are money concious, also, you like onscreen buttons and back fingerprint reader go for nokia 7. If nokia 8 is actually cheaper and bessels do not bother you. Go for nokia 8 for sure.

 • Not much different. Just manual setting is added. Like iso and contrast. Camera quality is good. They are still lots of bugs with Android 8.1. Apps crashes. Notification bar brightness remain high even when brightness is turn down. Performance is super. Beats any phone for the price.

 • Lol everyone's stuck in the same question. I suggest you go to a retail shop and try both phones. Both are great phones...

 • I am stucked between the Nokia 8 and Nokia 7 plus which to go for in terms of durability and performance. Thanks!

 • If anyone's camera gets updated let me know

 • How to disable navigation backlight?

 • That is a laser autofocus

 • In terms of performance and specs N8 much better as it has SD835 chip and fast performance, both have good battery life but its camera quality is not at par with nokia 7 plus. Overall, its great value for money and nokia pro cam mod coming very soon which will improve camera's performance.

 • i dont know. wht is the near in the flashlight ?

 • No

 • Is this better or nokia 7 plus?

 • No amoled display or clear black ?? Also camera quality not touching Samsung. it seems new nokia is fraud chines company wich is using only brand name not originnel Nokia.. Real Nokia was finnished with microsoft devices

 • No. Only ambient display with notification.

 • Can anyone tell me does it have notification light

 • I think tomorrow night we will finally get pro camera mode

 • You can get it for 34k to 36k easily in the market

 • How much in PKR ? We can not shop in USD locally. Did you imported it ? How much it actually cost you in PKR ?

 • Purchased Nokia 8 in Pakistan the best in stock Android.. Go for it.

 • Ok, well that is something else.

 • No more words... The best android phone... Better than samsung, huawei, oppo etc etc

 • Mine isn't

 • Excellent phone and I have switched off from IPhone, BB & Sony.

 • The apps in playstore do not record using all 3 mics as it's a rare feature and thus there is no app to take full advantage of that amazing ozo feature.I need voice recording for my lectures can't record videos of that many lectures

 • For who is dumb enough to pay for gimmicks, yeah. I, for sure am.not, and from what i read neither do you.

 • It is stuck android, so you get what stuck android has. And their are 2000000 voice recorders in store.

 • Link pls

 • Yeah yeah I get what you say. But only apply has a 3d scanning face recognition feature and that costs 1000 USD right? Fingerprint scanner is front mounted and always on. That works for me :D

 • After the last update the hotspot is crap again

 • Why it does not have a voice recorder. What will benefit from the ozo feature Stopid phone

 • My LG G4 had dual camera mode since 2015 on Android Marshmallow

 • I got it 2 weeks ago in Pakistan for 300 is dollars. Best phone in Pakistan at this price range.. I'm getting 6+ hours of screen on time in 24 hours of usage... I'm a power user... Selfie cam is too good with auto focus... My only complain is regarding main camera which suffers in poor light... A solid phone 1st flagships from Nokia with great battery life Thumbs up
