Nokia 9300i - User Reviews

  • language setting cant find from dutch to english. cannot find that option

  • Sadly this 9300i version was never compatible with EGSM 850 bands, which is why the 9300 is the one I got for my personal collection

  • The main reason may be that you have a Nokia 9300, not 9300i and the first doesn't have wifi.

  • nice phone

  • Does anyone here want this phone back? Back in those days this phone was way ahead in league and technology. Given this market where iphone and Samsung have touch screen, i think this phone will lead on a windows platform. Like a basic phone outside and inside with full edge to edge display with a full keyboard I would kill for something like that

  • The fact is this phone is 100% good but I have only one challenge how do i connect it to wi-fi coz icant see that service in my phone

  • well i have use nokia 9300i for a very long period of time ,but now i want to know if this phone can support whatssap, because i need to use whatsaap on it.

  • i need new one, where can i find, can any one suggest...

  • I've had my 9300i since it's launch in 2005, and I have loved every minute with it. Now, it is time for me to purchase my first "touch smart phone", which is a Nokia Lumia 920. This phone still wows people, when I flip it open, connect to the WLAN, pull up my PowerPoint presentations, and present them wirelessly on our company projectors. This phone has run hundreds of conference calls in speaker mode, and had hundreds of colleagues and business partners speak into it around the table. It still works perfectly, it has some corners where the silver is rubbed off, due to the thousands and thousands of times it's been tucked into my pocket, and taken out. You know how it goes, you can't break a Nokia - mine is the proof!

  • I want to see movie. But can't see. Which format it support?

  • Cause the lastest firmware accept 2gb maximum

  • first remove battery, put battery, after hold ctrl+shift key and press F button, format done

  • to proper format this phone . their is no code except to restore factory settings. this can only be formatted by turning it off from the power button (ofcourse it remains on from the inside but dont bother.) open back cover, remove battery. now, put in back the batery and open lid of phone. immediately press "ctrl + shift + F" till white screen and logo appears. dont leave ur hands from buttons, keep it pressed for 20 to 30 seconds as it is the average boot time of the phone. u will see a blue bar at the downside showing formatting the phone, u can now take ur hands off the buttons and watch it formatting. this could hardly take a minute or two. after formatting the phone will automatically restart and after booting and processing, it will ask for time, date, location etc and your phone will be as good as new. beware, save messages and contacts on memory card and take it out before doing any formatting or restoring factory settings. Hope this could be beneficial for you.

  • I realy AGREE with DANNY. It is an awesome creation! It makes you an organized young professional (like me) yet a stylish matinee. It might be bulky for others but as you use it over the time you will just unravel the numbers of its uses - voice recorder, spread sheets, MS applications and a lot more. Absolutely, you will have in your mind that the latter matters most.

  • Just pull out the battery, put it back again and press Ctrl+Shift+F to format it (press it while booting) you should be able to see a screen asking you to continue format it or cancel ;) Warning:all user data in phone memmory will be erased

  • Business people normally have 2 phones. 1 for business (9300i) & 1 for family (never turn off, LGku990). So, if in a meeting just divert business calls to the other phone thats vibrate. If u only have 1 phone, work hard..... ;-)

  • Yes, I agree with omert. Although the names are in the contacs. But when we will send the sms, there is attention text: NO NUMBER. Meanwhile the names of the contact are exist in phone book!

  • can some one tell me that from where can i get a mobile messenger for 9300i.

  • I think you should check whether you have saved those numbers by names in your contacts. Because if you haven't saved names in contacts then only the sms will be titled with numbers. Apart from that I see no other reason for the sms received and titles with phone numbers and not names.I hope I helped.

  • Dear are you skipping the fact that to receive sms titled by names and not numbers needs the feeding of the names in contact info. I mean maybe you haven't saved those numbers with names in your contacts. Otherwise I see no reason to receive sms titled by numbers and not names.

  • Thanks for your product, but I think you could add the vibration feature. It would be appreciated.I could be in a meeting where I would not like my phone to ring and I dont want to switch it off either. Thank you.

  • Hello, I have just received the 9300i and think that it is fantastic. However, I tried to update the firmware using the Nokia Software Updater but unfortunately the updater says that the phone is not supported. I also heard that in order to update the firmware the 9300i actually needs to be taken to a Nokia store for it to be done. Is this true? I will keep trying myself though as I have a feeling that I might be missing a part of the procedure. Also, I find that receiving calls is a little on the soft side and have trouble hearing my contact. Otherwise, a truly great phone despite being two years old now! Anybody that can give me some advice with my firmware dilemma will be greatly appreciated! Thank you...

  • As mentioned on nokia and your websites that nokia 9330i support MPEG4 files but it doesnt support the mpeg4 files and I have got in writing from nokia care that it will not support mpeg4 as claimed by the company. • As mentioned on nokia and your websites that nokia 9330i support MPEG4 files but it doesnt support the mpeg4 files and I have got in writing from nokia care that it will not support mpeg4 as claimed my the company

  • The phone is a nice one BUT the signal is poor... very poor! After less than two years of use, the phone's not working anymore because there's no signal. Only the features are working, the phone is not. Many trips to the Nokia service center only adds to the frustration. Now they want to change some parts and the cost is almost the same as the cost of a new one. I am now stuck with a mini mini laptop that is practically useless without the phone.

  • 9300i is a great phone. Its very stylish and has wifi and other goodies. The processors 50% (150 mhz?) slower than newer E and N-series at 330 mhz but hey its 2 years-old. To Josh.. (GPS)TomTom mobile5(&6) works great. Get a Nokia gps receiver and use bluetooth. Youll need to change settings in TT. Its not difficult but worksome. Just go step by step. It almost never crashes. Run it off memory card. Google cool voices. I like John Cleese :-D I retired my 9300i a year ago and still miss it especially the wide screen and keyboard. Smartmovie app was super on it too! Im waiting for E90 communcator which got recalled to the factory because of faulty speakers and mic. ..which means 9300i is STILL the best working communicator out there!!! Bottom line. If the price is right get it. Just remember.. symbian 80 os(9300i) has been replaced by s.60 (E90) meaning a shorter software lifespan for 9300i.

  • I presumed 9300i the best mini laptop.U must be familiar with PC for easy operating on 9300i beside its abilities to edit either words or excel. 9300i's 80mb sufficient to reboot at all time (without hang)but used 1gb of memory card to install any kind of documents, applications, games or others. At 1st,without vibrate and camera are kind of different perceptions but just download the best loud sound(for ringing tone)it will overcome the noisienest.Camera?9300i able to add any image to your list contact and dont forget to buy another phone for capturing image, incase you insist on camera! Wifi at any hotspot outlet and u can browse/chating/games online/download etc using 9300i! I dislike to use stylus for other smartphone brands, thats why I choose 9300i. For additional sofware, applications, games etc u can visit nokia.com(browse @ 9300i model) also visit getjar.com

  • @ OZE The phone wi-fi is quite nice. I browse, chat and send emails with my phone. It saves me alot more time than ever before. It also support mig33 (Java)! Its cool, just get yours! The phone is 100% Perfect!

  • I have Nokia N95, N70, And 9300i, Its the best

  • I have a 9210i and 9300i, none of them have vibration, and i sure dont have any problem with them, exept the realyyy crappy symbian. On the positive side, the browser on the 9300i is very usable and pleasent to work with once you get used to the joystick. To answer the first post: it is not worth the 700 euro price tag, not even slightly.

  • how is the phone . is it worth buying . does it have any problems

  • does this have a vibrator

  • it looks very business and even cool, especially when you open it. unfortunately that's when the bad part starts: -the processor moves very slow; -the display flashes; -windows just close without notice (just can't edit a damn note); ah, the list can go on forever. as a phone, when closed, it's almost perfect just only a bit too big. all i wanna know if my piece is an exception or this phone really sucks

  • can anyone tell me how to load chat applications on this phone; such as gtalk, msn, yahoo or skype. i am using this phone for last 5 months and its size irks me a lot. i love the functionality of this phone but its crampy at times to operate. only option to this phone is windows mobile that too palm treo 750v. i am planning to shift HTC touch or palm treo but lets see, in india we have to worry about the back up support.

  • Its a good phone but gprs speed is slow

  • Can anybody guide to put a different font in 9300i. Where is the font folder in file manager

  • Its great phone but not so great. Only buy one.

  • Its a amazing phone to use in coparision to any of the business phone..its fun

  • The phone is awesome its got everything i need like excel and powerpoint and camera is not at all needed as i have a 6mpix digicam

  • I believe that this phone is a great phone for the price. My only problem is no camera. other than that this is a great phone.

  • nice phone

  • at last there is SKYPE for 9500/9300i :) but only chatting function works..

  • amazing fone!!!!wrks good

  • As mentioned on nokia and your websites that nokia 9330i support MPEG4 files but it doesnt support the mpeg4 files and I have got in writing from nokia care that it will not support mpeg4 as claimed my the company

  • i think nokia9300 i very nice 2 use

  • Sorry I forgot to add, if someone wants to be a photographer kindly buy a Digi SLR Camera phones are not meant to be used a cameras where one can do his little hobby and waste time sending it to others and creating a complete idiot of himself.

  • I have just read few opinions posted by some, one of the guys want to run Mpeg4 and the other wants a camera another one wants to hear music while surfing net. God bless them and one of the guys is getting his money back from Nokia, great. But I would just like to say that I found this phone great. But before we start calling Nokia names we should know what we need and do a little bit of survey before buying any product, I am very satisfied with this handset, this works better than 9300 and wlan works just fine.

  • how to activated wi fi feature? thanks

  • i just luv this phone got alot of functions bit slow but o k nokia is a top dog

  • Really nice phone to use...very slick compared to other communicators...good speed...nice web browser with mouse cursor...& very simple to use...the full keyboard is very useful for sending mail & sms's...excellent phone

  • It's a nice phone.easy to use,but the software is really slow...i must wait a few second to open application...no camera,no vibration its ok...like 9210i...

  • Is Nokia 9300i can HELP ? Im browsing (gprs connection) use opera & Nokia web. Why when someone send message to me the ALERT not ring ? The message reveived but i can't hear the sound (my songs),Thank you

  • No camera? this phone sux! some people says, if you wants a camera, why not buy a camera. if you wants music, why not buy mp3 player. But why buy all those when you can have all in one device? would you carry all those equipment around all time? this phone works great but no camera, its like 1/10 for me where the full functionality of a divice would score 9/10.... its only lack of camera..... sorry... 1,1,1 vote for you....

  • This phone is one of the few nice looking phones from Nokia.

  • As mentioned on nokia and your websites that nokia 9330i supports MPEG4 files but it doesnt support the mpeg4 files.I have got this thing in writing from NOKIA CARE (Green Park, Delhi) that it will not support mpeg4 as claimed by the company. Now Nokia people are ready to refund my money and take back the handset so that they can fool other people.

  • it's a strong phone... but i think its suited to people with busy lives..i prefer sony ericsson better though..

  • I think that nokia 9300i its a nice phone.I like de design and the settings of the phone. This phone has a lot of memory to save many things like documents and save musics, but the bad thing on this phone is the software, this is, if you same many information on it they starts with software problems.

  • my 9300i phone accidentally drop in water & I found it 40 minutes later. then I de-assembled it for drying. after 4 day I've gone to Nokia care center, they told phone has fully damage, it can't make it. then I'm recharge it 3 hours, then it's switch on and fully working but both screens are not light up [dim].

  • Just wanted to ask as to, look wise what is the difference betwween Nokia 9300i an Nokia 9300, Can any one reply please.

  • Just got mine 1 week ago. I went from my N70 to this phone and i think the 9300i is great. I have read a lot of the comments and i don't have any of the problems that ppl are talking about. If you don't like your 9300i send it to me i will have a use for it :) Only thing i miss on this phone is 3g, because my N70 connected at 912Kb and that is very usefull when i take my laptop. Now that i have my 9300i my laptop stays home most of the time, but still would like the speed. If you want to buy it try it first and see if you like it. BTW i found lots of software for the phone including mxit (my fav chat program). Cheers and enjoy you 9300i

  • phone's simply gr8...been using it real lots...never found it not supporting mp4 files or it not playing 320x240 resolution files...besides you can always use the phone lock function for it to be made to lock on its own...

  • As mentioned on nokia and your websites that nokia 9330i supports MPEG4 files but it doesnt support the mpeg4 files.I have got this thing in writing from NOKIA CARE (Green Park, Delhi) that it will not support mpeg4 as claimed by the company

  • can anyone tell me if my nokia 9300 phone can be switch from french language to english?? thanks in advance...

  • It really depicts its name as smart phone. It is a computer within a system. I enjoyed my web and surfing. Arithmetic and Logical calculationn made easy. But i hope it will be improved upon by adding camera.

  • An absolutely awesome phone! It has everything that a corporate executive requires but it wouldn't have been nice if it had a camera, although I hardly use it.

  • It seems to be the good fone which fit for business purpose. It gives a very manly look.

  • I've been using this handset for over 6 months now and ven't yet found anything odd happening here. To make this short, I am okay with phone and like it a lot. Now I'd like to know how to use the WLan. Anyone expert on this thing, please don't keep quite. I want to know how to connect to the outside world without using GPRS service which costs me a lot of money. Cheers,

  • why my 9300i cant detect mmc 1Gb ??

  • The last 7 handsets have been NOKIA. I am dissapointed with 9300i. Its Software lets it down on the calender you cannot add contacts from your list. You have to retype them and their number into the calender. This is the same for any functions in Calender. Auto keypad lock missing is poor. On several occasions it freezes so I have to take the battery out to reset the whole system.

  • A really excellent mobile (a quite and cheap trustworthy secretary), I'm getting my second. But it is non-vibrating and keys do not lock automatically, which are strange shortcomings.

  • Hi N9300i Users, Anyone among you guys who tried putting an external memory of about 512MB, 1G or 2G? In case so, have you noticed if indeed the operation becomes slow or it's not affected at all. Need to know your inputs please. Thanks, CL

  • Just purchased a Finland made Nokia 9300i and its features are superb. No other mobile phone can match this unit, I guess, in terms of overall functionality and performance. Indeed there is no camera, nor vibration, nor it is a 3G phone but I think those features don't necessarily be present in a business phone like the N9300i. The key themselves are excellent and any new user would just need to familiarize himself with its countless superb uses. Anyone who is a competent user in a normal PC can do it a small but compact N9300i. Thanks and more power to Nokia!!! - Cesar

  • My 93001 has been an excellent business phone and I have now bought a new one because I dropped my first one. I would like to take my contact info off the old 9300i but cannot seem to find out how. Anybody know? Thanks

  • if anyone of you dont like 9300i, then its your choice. they are people like the phone as what it is. before you even purchase the phone at the store, you have the option to test the phone and see whether it suits you or not. if 9300i doesnt suits you then please by all means get another brand that might suit you need (you may pay more for that)

  • Hey, Just got myself a Nokia 9300i. Its a good gadget for me at least. Decided to search the web for forums. read back the previous postings, i only managed to cover page 19 & 20 before I got sick to the bone. if anyone of you dont like 9300i, then its your choice. they are people like the phone as what it is. before you even purchase the phone at the store, you have the option to test the phone and see whether it suits you or not. if 9300i doesnt suits you then please by all means get another brand that might suit you need (you may pay more for that) there are phone users find 9300i a good phone. me included. why you guys so worry about nokia market shares or losing competitive edge etc etc ... if they make money do you gonna get any single cent from it? i guess not ... so .. wise up bro!

  • Nokia 9300i. The Adobe Reader seems to have a conflict somehow. The Navigate Function never works on any pdf file. As soon as i push the NAvigate Key, it closes the application and displays an error msg. Reason Code: CONE and Reason Number:14. The same files open perfectly on a Nokia 9300 phone with the same software, (but not on the 9300i). Would be really grateful if someone can help me out as I'm spending many a sleepless nights trying to fix it.. Thanks!

  • I love many things with this phone but if anyone at nokia is reading this they should know that I have great hopes for the next step into 3g. Yes a camera would be fine.

  • moh'd: You can upgrade the firmware of your phone to get an updated version of the browser. The upgrade shuld help for the problems you have with accessing various sites. See this page for info: Yuo need to go to a official Nokia and leave the update to them. If your phone is new (still under warrenty), the upgrade is free.

  • Well i bought Nokia 9300i but i cant access hotmail nor gmail nor msn. but instead i was using noakia 6230 and i was able to access all. Can anyone advice? Regards.

  • I am looking to buy a 9300i. I would like to use it with Blackberry connect push email. I have had a couple of retailers tell me it does not work with Blackberry but the Nokia site says it does. Who do I believe? Does anyone have any ecperiance of using this phone with Blackberry? If you can help I would appriaciate it. John

  • I agree with Jonathan that phone cameras are toys that was why 9300/9300i are the real phone. The trend now is that cheap phones come with cheap low megapixel camera so phone manufacturers install high megapixel camera to expensive phones because camera is the magic word that sells phones. If you all worry about the camera of the phone then buy a good camera and a cheap phone because that way you satisfy yourself better. Why? because no matter how good a phone is today in no time it will be overtaken by a new phone almost immediately as soon as you have just bought it. Why some buyers of 9300/9300i face performance problem is because they probably purchased the phones from unscruplous dealers. For instance in Malaysia why a 9300i cost different is so wide between a dealer with Zitron warranty (expensive) and AP warranty (cheap)? Be careful with which dealer you buy your phone. Next time when you buy an expensive phone, take time to go thru the menu and check each of it is working per the manual. Never believe what the dealer told you, believe your own self.

  • i want to buy this handphone. If i use Maxis, can it be use with PTT.(Push To Talk). I hope all my friends give a comment for this info.

  • Can anyone tell me how to password-protect selected document files. I can't seem to find the instruction in the guide book. TQ

  • I bought 9300i about 3 months ago & faced software problem during initial 2 weeks time. The phone used to Hang simply & i had to remove the battery in order to bring it back to life. Software was required to be re-installed by the company who provided support. In fact, I wrote to Nokia as well about this but there has been no response as yet which is surprising & anoying. Its response is slow, and at times when you try to redial a number it starts reading the Log? so far, i have not been able to find software for this phone like FM radio,Prayer Time etc. I had good experience with Nokia 5140i, it is fast has many applications. I expected that 9300i would have more applications & would be fast but unfotunately it has not turned out to be like that.

  • Hi!! This phone is great!! Have it now for around two months. I have Apple mac and i thought is going to be a lot of problems cause software that comes with it is only for pc but to my suprise no problems, works fine with isync on mac. i can transfer all my working files from office on mac and send and receive faxes as i need that to run business properly. Overall, great phone for what i need.

  • I had nokia 9300i 2 months ago,it's working just fine, the thing is it needs a camera, but when u seek for camera + business phone,u should go to nokia 9500 which is big in size,in all cases i see this phone as a great one..

  • Seems like a lot of people experience similar problems with the 9300i ranging from "reading log" and memory error messages to delayed answering of incomng calls. Most of these problems are caused by only one default setting that needs changing! The 9300i stores in a log all voice and data call details made and received. The log's default setting is to keep all this data for 30 days, but this fills up the internal memory quickly if you make and/or receive a lot of calls. You can change the default setting for the log to free up more memory by following these steps: Open the cover and press the "Menu" button. On the toolbar that appears at the top, scroll to "Tools", then select "Log". The log will display on screen. Now press the "Menu" button again and scroll to "Tools" again and then select "Log duration". Change the log duration value to anything less than 30 days (5 to 10 days works fine, which ever suits your needs). Just as a tip - dont make it too few days as your redail function on the green button takes your recent calls from the log and won't show those calls you made a few days ago. Changing the log to 8 days worked for me and all those irritations and frustrations disappeared!

  • Hi guys just wondering how people find the lack of Vibrate alert when the phone rings. aside from the comments listed on the forums the only concern i have is the fact that the phone doesnt vibrate. Does anyone find this annoying???

  • I've learned to live without the vibrator and cheapo camera. I do know I can't live as effectively w/o the 9300i. (It is a welcome replacement to the 9500 which malfunctioned after dropping, and probable embedment of kava dust, moisture and rain.) The user interface is the charm. It's easy and intuitive to input entries. A touchscreen and/or stylus would not be necessary as it just means more smudges or potential of losing another part. As for the lack of a vibrator there are workarounds: 1. check every so often 2. turn up the ringing volume 3. raise your awareness of its ring 4. check when *you* want to check (your convenience) The phone cameras are just toys and were never a favorite of mine and I could count all of maybe once or twice I used this feature in lieu of my digital SLR. The way everything works together on the 9300i makes it the best buy for my businesses. With its updated wifi (g), bluetooth 1.2, and smaller form factor - being much more pocketable - it serves as a happy replacement for the 9500. The other non-communicator smartphones generally have too small a screen width (< 640) and lack in keyboard comfort. Plus they're Windows based - a natural suspicion of expected frequency of crashes and viruses. If you've tried the Nokia 9300i you'll appreciate its elegance and completeness.

  • Does this phone have photocaller facility?Seems like there's no point of adding photos to contacts if it doesn't..can anybody tell me how? Thx

  • have just moved to a 9300 after my 9500 broke (i had it three years and loved it despite its size). I am so disappointed with the 9300 i am going to send it back! It is much slower than the 9500, and the little joy stick thingy on the inside is far too small to use properly. And don't bother with synching with your computer - you'll lose bits of information from both! And no camera! Who makes a phone these days without even a basic camera! Come on Nokia - you are better than this.

  • it will be grt phone if it has a camera

  • Plz help me. I am going to buy Nokia 9300i next week. I am confused as people are giving different opinions. So help me and give me the true picture.

  • hi everyone i am looking ahead to purchase this phone should i buy this phone ??? plz suggest me something....... waiting for your reply

  • hello every one! I am trying to look for a third party software which will allow me to use the Tmobile blackberry service on this phone the way cingular does any one knows any web site where i can buy or download thanks.

  • Recently bought 9300i. I have problem if called from land line then there can be a delay of up to about 5 seconds after I have have pressed the green answer key before I get connected to the person calling. This is most annoying. I spoke to someone else who has had the same problem with there 9300i. Is it a fault with the phone? I`d like to get some feedback as to other users experience in this regard.

  • the new phones of nokia are not reliable. they easily hang and runs out of battery fast.

  • Apalling. So-called business tool. Freezes up, synchronises miserably with Outlook, processor slow. Theoreticaly should have revolutionised my portable business use but now i am out of pocket and seeking alternative. Treo maybe?

  • I just got the phone and what I have seen this far it looks wonderful on software application

  • does anyone know if we can use T9 recognition when writing sms from the outside using the keypad?????

  • 9300i is a great phone. I put it through its paces a full year and aside some reboots it performed excellently. It's retired now but I pull it out cause of all the 3rd party software that's on it. My N93 is better in most respects but even so I'll never sell my "brick". BTW, i typed this on N 93. Brick can't open this site. Cheers!

  • i love 95oo morre than any phone believe me d styles n great features ....

  • i love this phoinr

  • Hi, I purchased a 9300i but can't seem to get it linked to my office email. There's a software called intellisync, I can't get my hands on nor did my phone come with disk that can assis me. Some assistance from anyone would be higly apprecaited. Gav.

  • Nokia 9300i is a very nice phone and I think that This is the best Phone for business person its look like a phone with all the tools in it .I have used O2/imate etc but still I feel that Nokia Communicator is the best phones from nokia .Battery is 2 good If some one phone is slow then theycan reload the software with my phone I have no problems ,No issuies I am very happy with this phone This is my Second 9300i phone because I lost one of my 9300i so i again purchased this model Only ........

  • I'm undecided on 9300i or E61. Can anyone advise ? TQ

  • Hi everyone, i'm planning to get 1 9300i but i just wonder is there any software to support chinese writing? Thanks.

  • In fact I bought this phone as an exchange of Nokia9500.But is very slow, can't pick up calls sometimes, freezes and when you try to open the dialled numbers it always shows "reading log". it is very annoying using it compared to 9500 which was a bit faster; however, 9300i suppose to be faster and better performance than 9500. don't buy it and stick with your old 9500

  • it is very good model...i m fully statisfied from it except inner keyboard light...nice phone..overall

  • anybody who can talk about the durability of the keyboard?thanks. I got a treo650 which has a undurable keyboard.

  • I have purchased Nokia 9300i three weeks. I do not like the themes existing please advise free download of themes that have good colours combination etc - [email protected] bharat solanki Mumbai.

  • This is supposed to be a business model.Well... The processor is very slow, which makes working with calendar & todo lists extremely annoying. Nokia has also problems with usability,9300i has absolutely goofy functionality for handling the pda stuff. My favorite is the Yes/No drag down list.Compare the pda functions with Palm Tungsten C,and you get my meaning. The gsm features are decent enough, though no back lighting for the keyboard ( for a finn, annoying again ).Overall : a big disappointment.Buy it if you want to show off.

  • this is the best phone i ever bought, sure it has no camera but i don't care, its a briliant piece of technology. I am impressed by the long batery life of this big phone!!!

  • I`ve been using this phone half a year allready, and despite a lack of camera and slow processor speed its a solid thing. It has crashed only few times in this time and that was also my fault when installing wrong software. The best thing is text imput and the wide screen. If you once get used to communicators you never want to see another phone without a qwerty keyboard. Whats the use of all the connectivity and email and internet if you do not have a sensible input method.

  • why without cam...??? quite frankly, im not much of a "techno-guy" i was about to buy this unit because of the design and features...but when i found out that there's no cam, damn.... i bought an xda instead.... sorry if i mentioned the brand but i have to...hope u understnd

  • I had a Treo 600 before this (brilliant piece of equipment), but because I use the internet and e-mail a lot, I decided on the 9300i. I was not disappointed. Appart from the slow processor speed, lack of third party software and 3G!!!!!, it is an excellent PDA/Phone with adequate bundled software. I will wait for the 3G version. It just boggles the mind that "A BUSINESS PHONE" normally used by people on the move came out without 3G.

  • Someone called S wrote this on gsmarena forum...and i agree Quote "There is something WRONG with the 9300i!! I have been using the communicator for the last 7 years, nothing is like the old one 9120i! This new 9300i freezes, disconnects, turns itself off and worse of all picks up calls when it's not supposed to!!!! DONT BUY IT!"Unquote

  • i got a 9300i and want to now were a person can the hot spot finder free of charge or the free licence key for it as well as for gps i need to now what to do to use it on the phone

  • Can I Download or Insert more themes in the device??9300i?? The themes that r there are not very corolful.....!! I want to get some moreee... IS there anywebsite where I can download more themes??? OR what can I do??

  • I have been using Nokia 9300i last two weeks. Although it has no 3G, no camera, no fm radio and little slow response which will be solve in new update version. But quite impressive all other features. It is a very good phone for business users. I give 10 out of 8.5 for Design, 8.0 Features and 8.0 Performance. Thanks to Nokia and always a head.

  • please i have difficulty in connecting a bluetooth headset to my 9300i. i have a sony and a motorola headset. how do i pair it with the phone.

  • i jus got the phone today everything else is working fine but i have very poor reception...!! is it a common problem with the phone??? if its in the pocket i get absolute no reception... im gonna get it chkd with the store hope they can solve it!

  • I bought this handset 2 weeks ago and I like it very much. This is my 3rd phone in the last 3 years. Two others aren't Nokia brand. I personally disliked Nokia handset before(at all). Now I like is when I have a go with it. I should honestly make a coment that this phone is superb in the sense that OS is realiable. Organizer is a perfect PDA. No silly reset if you don't do stupid install some improvided software. I found it easy to use, messaging, surfing internet, and handling MS office works. Lack of camera is not a big deal. Small cover screen is acceptable.

  • There is something WRONG with the 9300i!! I have been using the communicator for the last 7 years, nothing is like the old one 9120i! This new 9300i freezes, disconnects, turns itself off and worse of all picks up calls when it's not supposed to!!!! DONT BUY IT! buy another phone, but then nothing is compared to the communicator (if your an experienced user!) hope this is helpfull,,,, i am switching to the new SAMSUNG i320 - good luck S

  • Hi, can some enlighten me? Just wana know whether this Nokia 9300i support Chinese. Thx.

  • The set is Great!! I hope I can USE it for long time period... Can anyone help me where to download MSN messenger for this mobile??? Is it free ???? Please tell me and help me!! Thankyou

  • Just Wow! This smartphone just got smarter. Navigating with GPS on 9300is wide screen is amazing. The 3D map is excellent and with John Cleese giving directions I never get lost! The 9300i has changed my life in so many ways (inside 80 mb ram + 1 gig mmc).. movies, mp3, internet, e-mail, pda with keyboard to use with "office & excel", alarm that only rings on work days.. and now GPS!

  • just,,,,,,,,beautiful:x:x:x:x

  • This is a good phone, but can we set up CALLER GROUPS so i can assign different ringtones for different contacts in my phonebook... pls let me know. thanks

  • Can one use Skype on the E61 and the 9300i?

  • Shall I buy the E61 or the 9300i? I need to send a lot of SMS and work a lot with e mails. So I need phones with a good keyboard and connectivity. Style and size are not important. Thanks

  • does it revert email automatically ???? or do we need to check email by our own ?

  • Just bought the phone recently and is happy with it. Was trying to access some website that requires installation of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) (such as jre-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p.exe). Can Nokia 9300i Symbian OS support installation of JRE to access such website? Thanks for the help.

  • Hello everyone, I have purchased 9300i just before 2 weeks and my HOTSPOT FINDER evolution has expired. Can we access internet without HOTSPOT FINDER. If we can then pls let me know how to do it. Or we have to spend $30 for it. Thank You

  • advantages: amazing phone for what it does considering its size. battery lasts long and the screen is very sexy. disadvantages: no vibrate, no camera, no 3g, also with its slow prcessor browsing the web with wifi can b quite slow.

  • Hi, i've just ordered for an Nokia 9300i and i wish it worksout well for my use.. the only thing i wanted in it is a good camera coz all tht a camera can do cannot be done wth just a plain phone like Communicator does. Is it possible in any way to affix a camera to it and that too a best pixel one?

  • Has anyone signed up to RoadSync to enable wireless syncronisation and push email. I tried but I keep on getting a Trust Certificate which is breaking the online connection. Has anyone had that problem?

  • All my Number are copied in MS Outlook!! HOw can I transfer them to my Nokia9300i??? PLease give me answer which will work. Have you done it??PLease tell me........

  • Well, I had the 9500 ... i loved the navigation joystick .... but whn i got the 9300 .... i wasn't comfortable at all .... the curosr used to go it's own way ... but the 9500 navigatino joystick was in control

  • CAN I syncronize 9300i with Microsoft Outlook/ Outlook Express?? Or there is problem doing that? It is very important for me. Please give me true answer. [email protected]

  • HEllo! Please help me!!! I am going to buy 9300i within one weak. So i just want to know can I syncronize 9300i with microsoft outlook?? Or there is problem doing that? It is very important for me. Please give me true answer.

  • Other then NOKIA's own provided

  • Non of the cables can be pluged in this giant

  • Access to the Internet: only via WLAN or can one plug in a modem cable as well? Peter

  • Video problems? You need pc-suite to change videos into NOKIA(3gp)format before playing. Quality does suffer. SmartMovies the way to go.. Backlit keyboard? Yeah, it can be a problem. Put your 9300i on a flat surface then tilt screen towards you. The key icons reflect pretty nicely. Typing upsidedown while laying in bed with tilted screen is tough though. More problems? Ive solved them all at allaboutsymbian.com

  • awesome phone, only thing missing besides call vibrating is keyboard backlight... that's really a missing :( anyone agree with me ???

  • does this phone have a message counter?like in 3220 because i want to monitor my text.thanks

  • CAn it play video?? Does it have real player? or any video player available in the phone?? Please tell me.

  • The main, poss only difference between 9300/9300i is the wlan. who needs a camera? i'm distraught my 9300 is broken and i'm waitin 2 claim my insurance 4 the 9300i but my shop doesn't av it yet! its so good 4 me i'll wait as long as it takes 4 replacement. i have 2 agree with gentleman "estate agents" try it b4 passing judgement. • Can I use MSN Messenger in the Phone???? PLease let me KNow. Thankyou.

  • Ive had this brick since 2nd week of Jan. 9300i is overall a great phone! As PDA: 9 pts As Phone: 9 pts As Browser: 8 pts Other apps (MP3 etc..): 10 pts Plus a fantastic bright screen display! And great overall look people notice. Opening it feels like Christmas! 170 Mhz processor isnt fast, but for a phone...80 MB built-in memorys okay. 2 GB memory card helps. Wlan works fine And its free! Some say GPRS is as faster. Download times to my webmail takes: Vlan/10- secs, GPRS/9 secs. Anyway, both are slower than pc. Some sites (like this one..) use too much code for my brick to process. Opera net browser is good. Plenty of Apps are included. Ive added SmartMovie to watch shows on the run. Great "packing" to 1/3 original file size I put onto MMC. View is 1/3 screen size with quality pic and sound. And keyboards excellent! Batterys okay.. No camera, no 3G, no vibrator. For me its no problem. Check allaboutsymbian for more advice and details.

  • Dear Readers Please can anyone tell me which model is better 9300 or 9300i with overall applications and Hardware both performace?? Rite now I am using a XDA Mini. So please give me a good advice. What are the good and bad side of both of the Phones. Thankyou

  • i want comionicator nokia mobile 9300i with camera i cant emagin it with out camera

  • every one cant operate pda phones in the family like grandfather /even father at least nokia 9300i is very easy to operate and it is perfect business phone ..........

  • Someone told me to look at the Jam and Jamin, but will it serve me better than the 9300i?

  • I want to get a new phone and need advise as 2 which phone 2 get. I will use it for surfing the web, e-mail, sending and receiving faxes. It must also be able to do web streaming. I must b able 2 read the faxes and it's attachments. Same with e-mail. I have to be able to edit documents on my phone. Brands available in South-Africa is Nokia, Samsung, LG, I-Mate, Sony-Eriksen. JASJAR too expensive!

  • So expensive, it's not even 3g.

  • 9300i = with WLAN 9300 = without WLAN

  • Well first thing is I didn't dream that you are from india, 2nd is I'm surprised that you are looking to buy this expensive phone without warranty card, CD, charger etc (a genuiun one and open boxed) 3rd is better go to the rest of the retialers not those FEW

  • A few retailers in India sell the phone without the box .... that is why the question... think before passing judgement

  • 9300i is dark gray and 9300 is light gray.

  • The trouble with these public forums is that anyone can post in them, which means that these reviews are full of detritus. Frankly I was hoping for some useful comment, as I was looking for the specific difference between the 9300 and the 9300i. Seeing as most of you really have nothing useful to remark and that half formed unpunctuated thoughts fall from your heads, I will just offer this comment to all those who seem to think this is a useless phone (I imagine that would mostly include anyone who has never actually tried one) : The richest and most influential estate agent in the country has provided all its employees with one of these, so if you know better than him, great, well done, pat of the back, otherwise : Keep quiet!

  • Well its obvious that Nokia state out side the box which model is contained inside the box, isn't it?

  • I would love to buy this to replace my beloved 9300...but...VODAFONE WON'T STOCK IT!!!! ARRRRGGHHHHH!!!! E61, had it, sent it back...N91 on the way, we'll see.

  • i like this phone very much

  • CMe.... problem with Nokia is that they depend on loyal rats to open phones to find out which models... why cant they clearly mark it on the outside

  • For God shake, don't be silly n act like a mum's baby boy, open the phone and remove the battery and then u'll know if its 9300 or 9300i

  • plz show me the rate this mobile

  • One question how do I know if the phone is the 9300 or the 9300i .... some retailers may be pushing the 9300 as the 9300i is there any diffrentiation on the phone itself

  • it is a great phone,so easy to use, full business and organizes, very nice phone. the diadvantage is no vibrator,it has less software and expensive...it must come with it in the package...espicialy the antiviruse and the massenger... but in general its great phone...

  • This is the best phone. All those who are saying against this phone has not used this phone.SO Listen all of you if u really need business phone then this is the best Best Phone you can use this as Phone and as yours Organizar....................SO Go for this phone

  • i think this is an awfull phone it is far to big and woulndnt be very convienient to take around with u

  • If your clever you dont buy phones with key features missing in the first place, you wait for its sequel and save your money.

  • Believe me, I'm from London and here I haven't seen any of the good executive carry single 9300/9300i/9500 but I've seen Electric/Gas meter regulator people carry these hand sets. I don't find any charm in this so that's why I own 6310i

  • hi i want to buy a new cellphone and i was wondering which one is better the 9300i or the 9500?i'm just a college student but i really like to have a communicator because it can be very useful to me.please explain to me why you choose the phone for me.thank you very much

  • Its a very useful device the two things to remember about it is that its a phone second and a very good web access device first. Its fairly large for apocket and getting it clipped onto a belt or something is near enough impractical. The bluetooth and infra red work well as does the WiFi.

  • It is sad that Nokia does this to its customers launch the 9300 and the a few months later the 9300i.... 1) Keep some key features missing so that you are forced to upgrade 2) I think we must keep our phones at least for 3 - 5 years (if not longer)... the impact on the environment because of redundant / discarded phones is becoming huge .... Nokia does not seem to keep this in mind.

  • to the one below the Major difference between the 9300 and the 9300i is the Wi-fi which is a very important feature aslo the 9300i has a major improvement in the battery life!! so if i were you i would go for the 9300i as wifi is a very important feature in business phones

  • hello every one!!!!!! can any one please help me in telling me that presentally i have 9300 which i like very much and i still feel that this is very good phone.my question is should i go for 9300i and why please tell me the proper reasons . thanks

  • No it do not have one but it work very well with Tom Tom mobile Navigator 5.0 software and GPS. I've a car radio with integrated GPS who not work so acurate that the Nokia ones.

  • i would like to know: does it have a built in receiver for gps(global poisition satellite) thanks

  • Hello bozkurt and all together I just baud this morning my 9300i and still have my 9500. Just for info you could have a MSN on your 9300i as I tried this morning and it works over wi-fi or GPRS perfectly. You could download it on www.mobilelnttech.com and the software is Turbo MSN (1.1). Now regarding Outlook no problem with sync. Their is also the software from Lonely Cat Games www.lonelycatgames.com who offer a good software for emails and could be used with you wi-fi to. Cheers

  • Yes, you can use Yahoo IM via GPRS

  • I like 9300 very much, Not even the outlook, and also the sound, But why it haven't CAMERA??? If it got camera, Wao!!! Great!!!Must be great. Thanks!

  • can anyone tell me if you can use the yahoo messanger on this?nokia9300i..help

  • Since it is based for the Euro market with the 900 Mhz bandwidth I was wondering if anybody is using it the USA for T-mobile where they have some 900 Mhz towers. If you are using in the USA where and how well is the service. I just like the idea of the wifi addition and would prefer to buy this one if it works in the USA. Thanks

  • ive had 4 in 5 months these phones are about as reliable as british rail

  • This is a useful phone for those who can handle advanced features. Nokia is aiming at corporate buyers and position it with software firms who can get into multi million contracts and Nokia doesn't care about individual coustomers. I suffer in outlook synchronization, email solutions for consumers etc. Every CEO want to reap all the millions into his pocket during his tenure and go away rich, who cares about individual consumer rights and corporate organised crimes? Money talks....

  • I am think to buy Nokia 9300 @ US $ 350. Now a days its price is drop. Please advice ur best guidance at earliest for above buying at this price.

  • I have the Nokia 9300i i let me tell you it is one of the best Bussnies phones around. with wi fi and much more it is truly of the best phone around.

  • Yes it has wireless.but neither skype or any messenger don't work with these vtelephone. What will I do with wireless. And there is no outlook compatibility and sencronizasyon.I think these telephone will be complete failure

  • hi i want to buy a new communicator and i was wondering which one is better the 9300i or the 9500?? also i wanted to know which devices are more reliable communicators or WM5 imates?? 9300i or Jamin??!!!

  • How to add JABRA 250v handsfree to Nokia 9300.

  • As a heavy business user, the 9300 was a terrible dissapointment. A total waste of my time, money and effort. Poor connectivity to Blackberry; No vibrate mode; Inefficient keying on phone interface; Very slow with large number of contacts; Storage card near battery - have to remove back plate (should be on outside). Did have fast Internet, but I will never buy a Nokia product again.

  • I think this handset is good as well as nokia 9500 but this handset is not available radio as well as these price so not much good.

  • Thanx for the advice on AntiVirus soft. I'll sure check it out.

  • Had the 9300i for week. Wow ! Great full connectivity to Exchange via WiFi or GPRS. At home I connect to office exchange via Wifi/ADSL. On the road vir GPRS. As the IT Director of a University I will now recommend it to all executives. It has all a professional need.

  • Wow! What a great shared memory of 2 GB. It's a dull set also.

  • No, coz we are still very far may be a deacde to do this...can't embed the things which are not made for them

  • i think nokia should use windows and make its operating system like a laptop agree?

  • I wonder when we will come across a new update for the Nokia 9500 or perhaps a 9400. The update for 9300i was disappointing. I like to see the phone more active than ever like the P910i or the upcoming P990i. I love the concept of the communicator but if its gonna lack the functionality of the P990i, I probably will go for the Pseries. I mean P990i has a 2 MP camera, autofocus, flash, etc and good music features which is for sure anytime better than the current communicators. I hope Nokia will release a communicator which is in the same level or better than the upcoming P990i. I love the concept of a widescreen and widekeyboard, but I have got very bored of the way the OS is. The N70 which I currenly use is so much better (Series 60) compared to the Series 80 of the 9500 I had. Hopefully Nokia releases something for its communciator fans to boast about unlike the release of 9300i. Communicator needs a complete revamp. Hopefully Nokia thinks that is necessary too.

  • please i wanna know whether N9300i has a radio? if it does not, can it be installed? is it possible for one to add features he wants in N9300i and make an order? if so how much will it cost if camera and radio is added to other features N9300i has. what are the MERITS and DEMERITS if these two more features(RADIO AND CAMERA) are added to it? thanks. cajetan

  • hi mr. senthil. i am so sorry to say this 9300i is very bad hand set.

  • Really don't like the QWERTY key board

  • How can one transfer contacts having more than one number from the 6600 to th 9300i. cos u can store only 1 phone and 1 Mobile in a vcf on to the PC. More than 1 entry is deleted by the nokia PC Suite.

  • hi friends if anybodies know about this mobile keyboard back light pls intimate to me-this is my id:[email protected]

  • I dont know where is the keyboard light and i dont know how to turn on it--in case if that particular option is not in this mobile kindly take my word as a suggestion --bye-senthil kumar.j

  • This phone is absolutly amazing !!! I had the Palm m515, iPaq 4150 and now the communicator 9300i and I thing it is the best equipment I ever had. No faults quick and simple perfect for Nokia's "NO BULL" attidute. Highly recommended.

  • Comment on Antivirus software - I know about Norton Antivirus for Mobile phones is available for the Symbian 80 operating system (this means it covers the Nokia 9300 and 9500 series phones). It is probably worth getting antivirus software for these kind of phones as it is used in business and almost as a tiny laptop.

  • Have had a noki 9100i, 9210 and 9500 by the 9300i is the best really good phone lots of applications including the only phone that has a ms project like package available on it and now with BB email. Great

  • Imate Jamin the 9300i is dated

  • you can't install Windows Mobile on NOKIA 9300i I tried iMate but didn't like it thats why I gave to my younger brother to play with it, but I think N9300i is far better then iMate in terms of batery, useability etc.

  • can i install mobile windows on this cell phone????? thx

  • good one but imate is far better

  • I have got the Nokia 9300i and have found that the address book searches all occurances of the part of a name or surname however, I wish there is a setting to search only from the start of the line. I am using a bluetooth ear piece which works fine, but the shortcut on the phone (chr +left scroll) to start/stop the bluetooth, stopped working. I got a "bluetooth error" message. I searched Nokia's knowledge base, and can't even raise a support query in South Africa. This is dissapointing. I hope somebody might be able to help. Thank you.

  • dragosh right! my communicator s working good bznzwize.. and a digi camera with excellent pixels btter than fonecam, a helpful company, vacationwize.

  • Buy the Imate. The 9300 / 9500 Communicator series are dated and no where near the benchmark. Windows mobile 5 is coming out with a push version of e-mail (like blackberry)... this will be available with the Treo 700w soon.

  • Ya Tomas - yes with the 9500/9300/9210, the pphone has a shared memory. So the more aplications you have the less is actually available for the contacts etc. Nokia does not say, but only 1000 full contacts are suggested as the limit, but I have 2,600. 1,400 absolutely destroyed (fractured) the 40mg memory of my old 9210i, & despite rebuilding the software the phone headed to the rubbish bin. The same happened with my 9500 after 1600 contacts and that phone is also full of problems. All software and contacts are loaded into internal memory at time of use, so cards are useless as storage devices. But does anyone know if there is an upgrade for the 9500. I like the form better than the E61

  • It the worst phone I have ever had! Details: - Really bad quality of platic covers (both sides) like in the cheapest "chinese toys"... - not good implemented applications!!! a) I cannot write e-mails/docs/SMS when my phone is receaving SMS... The jumping window is shown and it's so disturbing and irritating... solutions are: * to pray not to receive any SMS when you are writing. * going offline - this was officially suggested by NOKIA customer support... :-( b) E-mails - to much to criticise! For instance 80MB is designed to store your e-mails even if you have 1GB MMC card - nobody in NOKIA has thought about that before... BTW: this 80MB is not only for your e-mails/SMSes but System, temporary files, NOKIA applications (except games) and virtual memory!!! c) I cannot see my PowerPoint presentations well - why? I had asked about that and NOKIA informed me that less functionality is offered but they could not tell what functionality was supported, becouse they did not about that... who knows? the official suggiestion is just to try... :-( I wish you kept away from NOKIA 9300/9500 - the worst mobile phones I have ever had!

  • Could anybody comment on antivirus software availability for this phone. Since it's been upgraded to WiFi I consider it an important issue. How real is the threat of viruses on Symbian phones?

  • Guys Cebit is on... No news on the new Nokia communicator... looks like 9300 / 9500 is here to stay for a while

  • This is a phone made predominantly for the business market. There is no need for 3G here because Nokia understand that the business market has yet to adopt 3G. This is a very good phone and judging from the fact that almost 75% of independant phone traders (ie. impartial to brands and probably know more about handsets than most) at Cebit use it I'm sure we can assume that it is an excellent work tool. P.S. the other 25% had 8800s

  • is realy easy to work it's makes u're time easy]

  • Hey.., can SKYPE be installed in this phone? If yes, then we can make the cheapest calls throught the world.

  • -A Mobile phone only with WI-FI? No 3G, No Camera. It seems rediculous... Might be its very custom made, for the buisness class. - No 3g.... Has WiFi overtaken 3g?. Well this phones says, Yes!!!. If these type of phones become a big success, then all investments research on 3g might just serve nothing. Well a closer look reveals more info. - Wifi has more bandwith, more end customer focused. - 3g on the other hand has minimal bandwith, but good for mobile browsing. 3g beats wifi only in mobile browsing, i.e when the user is travelling at great speed. But if Wimax(wider wifi - next generation Wifi) comes to place then 3g has to pack its bag. Also, all end customers will welcome wifi which most of us are well accustomed with, reather than 3g. Anyways, 3g might prove to be a failure. Well, well... who knows!!! , the Telecom industry with their intelligent buisness brains will work out some strategy to reap profit out of 3g.

  • you forgot the voip capability. so far, the best!

  • at last a usable phone without the camera. not to forget the very usable email system

  • I would like your views on which is the winner when it comes to: Nokia 9300i Imate SP5 Nokia N70 My requirements are mainly Calendar (synch with outlook), Contacts (synch with outlook), Outlook Notes, WiFi, voice dialling thru bluetooth headset, last and least - compactness (within reason). Would apprecite your views or even recommendations on other phones to consider. cheers raz

  • Have had the phone (9300i) for about two weeks... I'M SO HAPPY!!!! I've had iPAQ for years, and according to my needs, nothing has until now offered me what the Communicator has. Everybody has different needs. Some like Treo, some like Windows and some like Symbian. I insist, phocusing on my specific needs, and as an ex-ipaq user, Nokia's 9300i is the best phone i've had up to now. By the way, don't some of you know how to have a "DIALOGUE"????? I mean, what is the need of being destructive towards someone's opinion if it different than ours... Please, grow up (specially you SAM...). Cheers form Spain.

  • Bills2North You bet I am not looking at the 9300i SE P910 is far better. Do you work for Nokia....sounds like it though... Lets face it no one like been told that they have a bad product .... your reactions are only human. Cheers and have a good life

  • To anyone that needs expert advice on any symbian os phone made by Sony-Ericsson and NOKIA check website www.allaboutsymbian.com Those guys are THE experts! They continue where the manual stops ;-)

  • Sam, The weird "alternatives" you suggest are useless and unappreciated. Pc's without phone, scanners, Ericson this or Samsung that, Palm Treo's better, etc. It's clear the phone you've got now isn't first rate since there's been no mention of it. Mocking people for what they've bought is unconstructive. This column is for those shopping for this type of phone, and owners that can share their learnt experiences and opinions. You haven't any useful information concerning its operation and you're not shopping for this kind of phone. I'm calling your bluff. I'm boycotting your comments from now on. Have a nice life! All those in favor say "aye"..

  • If you can get used to this phone then you might as well get used to anything. It hangs, battery needs to be removed and replaced again and again. the t9 isnt there (nokia claims its there. i could not find it) and its sooooooo slow!!!!! one piece of advice. if you want a simple phone stick to the nokia 6230i. If you want a smartphone, dont bother anywhere but sony ericsson.

  • I quote my learned friend Bills2North "Handsigned faxes are legal and "binding" in "some" real-estate transactions "while overseas" "when proof of signitures available on mainland" Unquote Gees how many of us will come across such a situation.....while most of us will need a stylus...which the 9300 nor the 9500 does not have...for hevens sake it does not have a vibrator option.... Also my friend have you ever heard of a scanner....wonderful gadget you see...cell phone cameras are doubling up as scanners too Also soon we will have smart phones which are as powerful as current computers

  • Is very nice and and complete phone,is one of the best phones i have used for a very long time i love the phone!!!!!!!!

  • Please someone help me know the exact differences between 9300 & 9300i as I don't know the difference between them and I think the only one avilable here is 9300. Also tell me if games can be freely downloaded or not. answer me at: [email protected]

  • Handsigned faxes are legal and "binding" in some real-estate transactions while overseas when proof of signitures available on mainland. The Bluetooth digital pen is ok for drawing / writing freehand. The keypad "tapper" card is alright, too. The pen works with every Symbian os (40, 60, 80..).. so far; N-Gage, 6230 and 9300i- our whole family ;-) But.. in the end the keyboard on the silver bricks best. NOKIA PASS KEY QUICK FINDER; for Bluetooth earphones look inside battery cover. For pen, etc. Generally the last 4 digits of serial no. is same as code. When Ultra pc gets a little smaller and includes a PHONE "hello?" I can consider it in 2-3 years. I bought the brick as a phone-pda that fits in my pocket NOW, period. Its a good investment. 9300is (and 9500..) speeds 150 MHz. Not the fastest thats for sure, but the Symbian 80 series os (like old Psion..) is steady and battery life ok. Wi-Fi is sweet but eats power in 4-5 hrs.

  • What kind & speed of processor is used inside this phone? Is it possible to watch full lenght movies on this device? What is the best resolution I can use for the movies? Thanks in advance

  • its goods is really good as well as the performance is also good

  • Just bought the 9300i a month back its the best phone in the whole world its my partner for life this one's for you Hash

  • Cme, Not expecting anyone to take the origamy in their pocket ... just making a point that a smart phone without a stylus is way behind in technology....the 9300 does not have a stylus and hence has low ratings according to GSM arena

  • I've had EVERY single communicator (9000,9110,9210,9300,9500) and I wouldnt trade any of them for any other phone. I've also owned the Sony Ericsson P910i because I was tired of not having GPRS on my 9210i. I found it great until Nokia released the new communicators. I quickly switched to the Nokia 9300 (without the wifi) and loved it. Within six months, my brother bought the 9500 with wifi and camera and I bought the same version. I love the clamshell design. Sure its a bit bulky, but so are the SE P910. I dont like sending emails with a stylus. But the keyboard on the P910 helped a little (not much) but on the communicator series its awesome. I bought my first Nokia 9000i back in 1997 for about 1,150$ and I dont regret it. I still have it here to. (Almost in new condition) I even use it off and on to keep the battery functioning. (which I do on all my phones.) Bottom line, NOTHING beats a communicator. But different strokes for different folks =)

  • I dont understand how you gonna take Origamy in ur pocket...

  • Hey Bills2 North, Trust you saw the Samsung i830 much better than the 9300.... also on your point of stylus check out Microsoft and Samsungs Origamy Ultra Portable PC... the world is moving towards stylus based inputs where as Nokia is still stuck in another century.

  • Bills2North, most human beings dont sign a fax... all the best with trying the 9300 with Nokias digital pen...it is like going into the dark ages ... while everyone is trying to converge everything into one device to make us humans more productive ... nokia still has it roots in its gumboots

  • Sam, what are all the shortcut `hot keys for? Check Nokia. General keyboard shortcuts are same as Win, and Doc. app too ('Chr' plus 'nav-up' = Page up etc..) which make it easy to remember. Even the clock has shortcuts! But youve got a point. In the long run a pen isnt a bad idea, especially for signing faxes or letters. However, a full size `real pen is 10x better than a dinky stylus. Ill check the Digital pen (NOKIA SU-1b?) on my 9300i and *laptop (with bluetooth). If I like it Ill have the best of both worlds. *laptop justifies purchase, too ;-)

  • Had one of these for a few weeks now. Got the Blackberry software working and am very happy with that. Don't need the vibrating ring, don't need a camera (I have a DSLR in the car with me at all times), don't need a complicated setup - so this suits me 100%. So far very impressed. All the features that I need with a nice screen, all very easy to get to and intuative.

  • There are many people who say 9300i lacks camera. But the fact that it has no camera is why i choose it over 9500. Camera phone is restricted in many offices these days. This is a bussiness phone and a camera is not what people look for in a bussiness phone. So, for me atleast, as a bussiness phone, i give thumbs up for 9300i.

  • bill2north - real men use thumbs - smart men use technology - stylus is the way to go...9300 lacks too many features to make it a good phone. GSM Ratings 6.6 ....bad

  • To Sam the man: "Real men use thumbs" I know its cliche but who cares. All you need are your index and middle fingers, and dont scratch-up the screen like my Palm Pilot. To Jadu: Check the manual or is it in Chinese? Id go straight to nokia.com, after a cup of java ;-) To Ryanb: Dont bother downloading E-mail onto your phone, its too risky. Check it from your servers webmail instead. 9300is fast enough for me whether I use (E)GPRS or WLAN. All The Best! PS, dont forget to play all your favorite C-64 games on the communicator. Theyre found everywhere on the net. Remember ELITE?

  • To Jadu: check language under "phone settings" and drink more coffee ;-) To Rayb: don't bother using Outlook when you can check webmail directly from your friendly neihborhood server. Less risk downloading junk and viruses onto 9300i. BTW, I'm using my silver brick now. Speed is fine as is keyboard but this page's a little messy. Cache's set to 3 megs now... All The Best!

  • I'm in the market to get my hands on a good business phone. I'm always travelling and so I need a relaible phone that I can check my emails on etc. I'm thinking of getting the Nokia 9300i but needed a hand with the decision making as I know nothing about it. I have held one and the size didnt bother me as much as I thought it would, infact I expected it to be bigger. The fact that there is no camera etc doesn't bother me as it will be a work tool and not for pleasure and I'm sure most business men dont need a camera anyway. I just want to know what its like for checking my emails and anything else that can help me make up my mind. Thanks again

  • C Me 9300 / 9500 - No hardwriting recgonition / stylus input No Vibrator 9300 No camera WiFi is a small price to pay compared to the other options

  • Thanks Bills2north I bought this Nokia 9300i - got one more thing to ask now :) the phone i bought has some other language on it and its NOT ENGLISH for sure is it that this phone is not YET available in eng. or that i bought the wrong version n its availble in english Please let me know Thanks Jadu

  • Which one, 9500 or 9300i? 9300is slimmer, smaller and looks better. Thats what I chose. No one stares quite so much, except for the `wow factor when I open it. And it slips into my pocket nicely. 9500s a real brick. It looks and feels too much like plastic. Although overall it gets better ratings because screen and keyboard size, plus camera. And costs a bit more. Or then think about this. The screens and keyboard are smaller on 9300i. When surfing use full screen mode. And youll type with 2 fingers on each hand. Get used to it. Wait for Nokia N92, its a gem too, and same price, just in case. Hope that helped :-)

  • for God shake Sam, P910 doent even have wifi

  • Jadu, Buy the SE P 910 far better than the 9500 / 9300

  • Hi- which one is better ? 9500 or 9300i ? i want to buy one but cant decide which one is better specially when CAMERA is not an issue - Thanks

  • Do this to access T9 on cover phone:Message>, write message>, options (bottom left)>, dictionary, English (or whatever..), and thats it. This phone doesnt have T9 for keyboard. This phones great but expensive for private users. Not having vibrator or camera doesnt bother me.

  • What I can see and read all about 9300i is, it cant be without a T9 feature in cover face, so you better consult with NK or the reseller

  • I know you cant get teh T9 feature when you open the cover, i was refering to the cover, in my phone the feature is not available i just wanted to know if that was a common problem.

  • I bleieve if you are in communicator mode then you cant get the T9 feature but you can only use it in cover screen, let me know waht you up to?

  • I baught this phone 2 weeks ago after waiting for it to come out thinking it would have T9-Predective Text, after i set it up and try the T9, apparently it doesnt have it. Is this a common fault? Can anyone with the phone pls let me know if they have the same problem..

  • the 9500 is far better than the 9300i.it has got the same features but not th camera.

  • It is confirmed that this phone has NOT the vibrator feature :-(

  • Its a good and versatile phone but not able to read chinese SMS, can anybody help to advise how and where to download application where i can read and write chinese SMS

  • `Hot spotfinder works well. WLANs quick enough. No GPRS bills! Fair amount of apps. Nice keyboard & very clear `widescreen. Shortcuts galore. Excellent sound quality. MMC card slot moved to a good spot. Batterys ok. Hint:Dont close apps, toggle using desk or any upper key to switch, or ctrl.. Phone will run 20 apps but may hang when exiting. Set browser cache to 1 meg. Learn to use this phone properly! Ive had 9300i for 2 weeks. My room ( Im a teacher..) has no internet. On short breaks I can call, E-mail, surf and listen to music in privacy. I wouldnt dare keep my laptop in class. Cameras are for kids on fieldtrips. I cant use `vibeanyway. Not even in meetings. The price is worth it ( 625 and always unlocked in FI ), but my wife almost killed me ;-) -Happy Hunting

  • It is good phone it just as a laptop but if it has more feature it will rock the world . i want to purchase its too bulky but it create an heavy impression

  • Yes, power users can moan about a lot on the 9300i, but this phone isnt for power users. This is a phone that gives a huge amount of power and flexibility to the mass market. The communicator range, in the shape of the 9300i, finally have a phone with a respectable size, stable software and a solid range of third party applications. It might not look it, but in the marketplace, the 9300i should be a winner by a country mile. Thats why the 9300i is aimed squarely at business users on the move.

  • I havent tryed on 9300i but i think nokia follows its own old rules, its in Hash (#) key press and hold it

  • Can anyone tel me how to switch to t9 font on the cover screen???

  • Ali, 9300i is substandard when compared to nearly all other smart phones from SE , O2 , Motorola , HP , Treo . The lack of vibrator , no stylus , bulky , poor battery life , limited features all make it a shabby product. Nokia is right now way behind in the smart phone market (my guess at least 2 years behind competition). This will cost Nokia as lot of smart phone users are decision makers and boy Nokia is in big trouble on this front. Cheers Sam

  • wdf is this? vibration is a feature not to take the phone anywhere else, so we can expect a smartphone to have this feature too

  • hey barbies..stop asking for vibration!!! this is a smartphone not a high tech vibrator!!!!

  • Well it has T9 in cover screen not in communicator screen coz we dont need there as long as each and individuall key is sperately pressed and get rid of T9 there :-)

  • Does this phone have T9 ? i have heard some say it does have it still confused on it....please revert

  • hi nokia 9300i is best cell phone but contain some disadvantage because not satisfy all user by limited language (ex: no arabic language). thanks

  • yes, it'll

  • I dont like the design from out side. Hey, will this phone (or whatever it is...) fit in the pocket?

  • Most business phones are overpriced and marjins really fat.... companies tend to milk their business customers and Nokia is no exception the 9300 and 9500 are hugly overpriced

  • Happy to see this come to the US market - min. 2 yr delay -- product/carrier management appears to be an issue!

  • Good luck trying to fit a laptop in ur pocket.

  • you cant buy laptop with good configuration only with 300+

  • for this price I prefer to buy a laptop!

  • In my experince with O2 mini, whenever I lost my backup battery I lost my all contacts in it and retyped/resored again n again, it happend to me whenever I was on move, I think at least NOKIA is not battery dependant.

  • Aubry, Buy the O2 mini, far better than the 9500 / 9300. Nokia as failed their customers and once loyal fans (like me) in the business phone segment.

  • i think it isn't a phone! it is a computer !!! really

  • i heard the rumor b4 tt nokia palnned to put 7 2 megapixel camera but they decided not 2 i dun noe the reason

  • hi its a great phone

  • May be it is slow to play videos!

  • it is big for no reason and it is so slow!!

  • I thnk u cnt use it wth N9300i n Outluk exprss

  • I believe you can find all your answers here

  • Is tat possible N9300i synchronize stuff from Microsoft Outlook?

  • Well which one u thinking to take? XDA 2 mini or XDA mini S. I've used JAM but I'm not happy with the interaction of stylo but I believe the nokia communicators are always best as long as they are offering BlackBerry for me.

  • Ive always had a Nokia communicator 9500.My heart wants the new 9300i, but brain says XDA mini- mainly coz of MS Outlook software sync- which nokias dont seem so great on. any comments/advise?

  • Will be available in mid feb

  • Does anyone have news about a new communicator from Nokia. I hope it has a thumb key like the Samsung I730.

  • A web site says, Be discreet Shhh.. Be discreet and take advantage of its silent vibrating alert.

  • i think if compared to the 9300 in the 9300i they have putted the keyboard of the 9500 and the mouse :) wich makes the 9500 who is too big appear lesser useful!

  • So do I

  • i love it

  • could you plz post any online retailer/seller's link?

  • Available in Europe as well.

  • Without vibration, Nokia has goofed. Just place vibration on the 9300i and you're there. Nokia is always the leader where GSM phones are concerned.

  • We knw baby its same as 9300 n only diffrence is Wi-Fi so plz KOOL DOWN and say something new

  • hmmmm no body color is the same NO vibration in i version i was since 9300 sold more than 9500 and ppl wanted WIFI instead of coming out wid new 9700 they did a 9300i which got wifi nothing else changes in this looks same everything same only wifi

  • ali is a cake.obviously features have been added to the 9300i,because why would nokia release another fone, identical to it's predecessor.ali, stop smoking zol, please.it is affecting your thought process adversly. your damn cake.u are a snaai.

  • I think it's a great mobile,I used the first version 9300 and I was really satisfied with it. Am buying this new one as soon as it's available.I can't find many changes except for the wifi and the battery life.

  • hey ali, try wi fi as sumthing being different from 9300 n the 9300i. look at the spec's b4 u make a stupid comment cuz u jus ended up making urself look stupid. this fone's not for everyone, n' no1's forcing u to buy it. so please, stop hating people.

  • I blieve this king is only released in Asia yet

  • this is the most stupid phone i have ever seen there is no difference between 9300 and 9300i nokia has just changed the body colour this is stupid noki a sucks

  • I read in ebay, it really doent have vibration :-(

  • Thank God, and thank you as well, we didnt know that this thingy really has WIFI in it, other wise we would have been died if you didnt tell us the truth.

  • Dear all there is a diffrence between 9300 and 9300i (Wifi)

  • My greatest problem was with 9300 and 6230i that in case writing an email the size of letters could not be adjusted larger and thicker, they were max 1mm big so barely visible-at least for kids over 50... Does anybody know wether this has been cured on 9300i or 6233, or eventually can be done by some new downloadable softwares? Thanxxx, reg.Andras

  • its a bomb

  • NOKIA still saying its coming soon, THX as long as u want to carry ur business applicaions/tools then its a perfect maatch, but if u love to watch movies etc. then still a notebook/laptop is again nothing for that person, I hope you got me

  • This has been available since last week now in some markets.

  • I am talking about 9300i, the coming soon status has been removed at nokia site. Cme you should check an the 20 new phones at nokia site- i am expecting ur reply

  • 9300i is replacement for Notebook ? You must be kidding... if the issue is same with previous model 9500 and 9300, that is SPEED, you should think and rethink 1000 times to replace your notebook with this phone...

  • (Plz come mates and poste your view abt this blazing thingy)

  • Sophisticated design, compact device, designed for life, built for work

  • I'd like to say, 'Beast in a Beauty' and this beast really rules

  • sorry forgot to past the link which I'm talkin' below

  • Whats this??? They sayin' 9300i has vibration in addition Symbian 80 :-,) very glad if its true and gonna get one soon as it arives

  • 9300i is a truly laptop/notebook replacement

  • grants, its 9300 NOKIA removed 'Coming Soon' NOT 9300i

  • methought this beast is now available because the "coming soon" status at the Nokia site has been removed -gsm arena pls check and update

  • Well I really need a true business phone, I'm not fancy of FM radio, camera etc but the vibrations is my need but I believe I can live without it but NOT without 9300i, Regards

  • the specification says it will have no vibration - any regrets? but it is still a beast of a phone, vibration or non, camera or non, fm radio or non - check it out

  • Hei Guys, I'm wondering if this thingy got vibration???

  • i tink al doz ppl dat bought da 9300 shud b able 2 take it 2 day shop an trade it in 4 dis, its nt fair ow nokia treat customers al day did 2 dis is aded wlan, dis shud av bin released da mo it woz anounced an den al dem dat ad bought a 9300 recently shud av bin ofered dis either 3 as part ov a trade in or a v low price, dat wud b lukin after customers, nt releasin a fone den 6 months l8r anounce da same modle wiv 1 extra feature an release dat in 4 monf, nt respectin loyal customa, shame on nokia

  • Wlan Problem fixed in the 9300i should see this phone coming out in the next couple of month ok its for Bussiness people they dont want a camara and Nokia sold more 9300 than 9500 coz it is smaller and nicer faster OS than 9500

  • Shai, the difference wouldn't be very big. Since you work in airline and get to fly all around the world. I don't see why the hassle to save a few bucks.

  • PWYU, this phone comes without camera.

  • Does anybody have any news on a upgrade to the Nokia 9500 sucessor (not a 9500 !) but a trult advanced phone let me know.I am about to buy the Jasjar and want to be sure if something is likely to come up before investing a arm and a leg

  • Where is the camera?

  • If it had a T9, radio and camera it would be the ultimate perfect phone. Come on Nokia!!!

  • Nima Think u may have the wrong forum. This 9300i was only announced a couple of months ago and will not be released for another couple more. I suspect you may be using the standard 9300 if youve already had it 6 months.....unless you maybe got hold of a very early pre-release or beta model 9300i? If thats the case, that probably explains why your having trouble with it.....

  • This phone has some serious software problem. It is non stop hanging. After owning it for 6 months, it has already been 3 times in the service center for reset. While waiting there, I see many others coming with the same problem....Great looking phone, serious looking phone, pretty much all you need as a biz. man. But the software issue is time wasting.

  • as i said nothing is new in this phone only the Wlan so dont buy it and be like oh nothing is new in it as i said Wlan that is it

  • nice mobile

  • yeah it does make sense!!

  • When will nokia stop using symbian plateform??? I hate this plateform. It is so slow. Take age to open one pic. Bloody hard to find software. Come one nokia change to window mobile. Much much better. I changed my Nokia 9500 to O2 IIs because of that plateform. I love the style of Nokia 9500. It look like laptop the same as 9300. Oh nokia. Pl change to that window mobile

  • Phone is good even i was expecting camera in the phone like others .my suggestion is please dont waste your money on advertisements please do something about service you provide to you customers introducing a new phone is not abig deal issue is after sale service.which is not there.your 9300&9500 HANGS,BANGS so many times.do some thing

  • hi there does it make sense to buy this phone for online trading? commodities, shares or bullion? pls help

  • there should be mp camera, radio, vibrator and it should not be bulky then it will be THE BEST. i am still using this phone.

  • Communicators have always been good. But they are very bulky. They can do a lot but this one has no camera. Keyboard is good on a phone but who uses it that much anyway?

  • No Camera And All The Functions..Expensives..

  • Hey NOKIA... don't play with your customer... You bring out one model and later you give very small improvement like putting WiFi and you sell as a new version with same price... Have you consider for those who had bought the previous version ? Have you do market research before you bring out new product ?

  • Yup agree that Nokia needs to wake up... Had a 6210 that was their best phone

  • Lacks vibrator too

  • Definately cool! The only thing it lacks is the camera! First Communicator with Predictive TEXT!! :)

  • P910 is an fashion phone mate. What P910 can do? can only view office application, not even editing.

  • No-camera phone with pda functions are a rare thing. Cause if you in high-security places no camera-phones are not allowed. Only disappointment is still vibration, you will definitely lose your business deals if you keep missing calls. Just great a business phone that makes you lose business.

  • thought there would be a better camera

  • 9300i has wlan version g...that means you have 44 mbs speed transfer, not b.vistit nokia's website to check it out.full business phone=no camera,so dont complain about it any more!!

  • Actually, i was expecting to see a camera in the upgrade,

  • smartphone with Symbian ? crapbag ! the truth is in the windows smart phone ! x5 faster .

  • kesarya The Sony Ericsson p910 is better than the 9500. I-Mate Jasjsr is better but costs a arm and a leg

  • ya... But the changes in nokia 9300i has not been up to my standard u see.. So i think that sooner or later, nokia will produce the 9500i, which i think should be the best, if the changes is acceptable :)

  • I don't think its time to replace 9500. I am happy with my 9500 communicator. Has anyone heard of something better than 9500 in the market? Pls. do let me know..

  • With a megapixel cam 9300i would compete head-on with 9500. Guess Nokia does not want that to happen, so no cam on this baby. Lack of vib a pointless oversight though. A Cool communicator nonetheless.

  • The first time I see this 9300i, I was so FASCINATED! but after looking thru again at the features.. I was let down bcuzthere is no camera!!! but Im ok wif the function of no vibration.. Thats wad I call business phone (a phone with no vibration). All the functions are acceptable to me, except tt very camera!!! where is the camera??? and I was satisfied with the capabilities to connect wirelessly.. Soo... i think I will have to wait for another communicator tt have the functions I need... (probably 9500i? :P)

  • Theres nothing different. Also it cant vibate :| Can the 9300 vibrate though... :p

  • Well, Most people regard this as Business Class Phone but it doesnt even have a Feature of Vibration not even in this 9300i wonder what this upgrade is for.. Vibration is Required if one is in a meeting or elsewhere I have 9500 and I Miss that Feature

  • Crappy upgrade to a substandard phone

  • watch out! wide load!!!

  • Why camera!?- this is GSM phone

  • come on striker, what sort of rubbish are you talking about.if businessmen dont need a camera on their phones, why did they mounted a cam on the 9500?are you sure you know about phones?9300i is small and it doesnt even have wifi and the price you pay can get you maybe an 02 which will satisfy your needs better.maybe a mini!if they dont need cams, why on the 02?

  • It is basically the same as 9300 just this is in blue i dont ind any diffrences

  • Zameer.....Its because its a business communications device aimed mainly at corporate users, the majority of which don't need or use a camera. Including a camera would inflate the price even further.

  • No camera..........huh? why ?

  • Communicators never had vibrate... Don't ask me why...

  • this phone does not have vibrate!

  • the reason why our telecommunication infrastructure in the Philippines could not evolve into UMTS network accomodating 3G technology is because our telco's are afraid of losing profits for only 20% of mobile users are capable of upgrading and subscribing to 3G technology. the reason behind this is that customer preference on mobile technology is limited only to second hand dual band phones, single-band (e.g. 5110, 3210), monochrome display, and obsolete models mostly provided by NOKIA coming from 1st world country. Most customers in the Philippines are able to purchase modest phone packed with bundles of technology but due to limited stocks, customers are inclined to buy second hand phones by NOKIA. That's why Philippines is far behind in terms of Mobile technology. We may be the texting capital of the world thats because majority of Pinoy mobile users uses obsolete phones. I'm abit optimistic that our telco infrastructure would improve next year 2006 because Samsung launched a market take-over campaign in the Philippines over taking Nokia and other companies by providing cutting edge technology that suits everybody's budget. Still we're faced with the cruel reality that we became the garbage bin of obsolete mobile phones and other obsolete technology. The idea of dumping old NOKIA phones in 3rd world countries like the Philippines is an idea that raises our eyebrows. They can flood the market with junk phones but Pinoy customers are smart buyers. by the way don't you guys, users of NOKIA smartphones notice that everytime there's a new model it has the same Symbian features but different physical looks. they change the design put an "i" after the model code, it has the same symbian features and sell it twice the value of the previous model. Unlike samsung or sony ericsson every model has a distinct experience from the other models, but enables you to familiarize basic navigation through its features.

  • Course they can Sam, all the manufacturers could. But why would they put a dent in profits - Its only our childrens futures!?!?!?!?

  • I have gone through the data shared on Nokias environmental policy am am sad to say they can do much more.....

  • This phone dose not impress me...

  • Haseeb The answer to that question is very very little. The addition of WLAN, a slightly better battery, and a vomit-inducing design. Those are the differences.

  • hey..whats the difference betweeen nokia 9300 and 9300i

  • As a business phone, this phone suppoese to have 3G capability... because sometimes we need to have video conference in our meeting, right ?... GPS Function may be needed also... Camera at least 1.3 MP also needed for some reasons... Next improvement is a SPEED... because my experience with Nokia 9500, that phone is really damn slow... Put higher processor which has faster speed and lower power consumption... Forget about radio function because that is not important for business phone... 65K Color still acceptable... So far only O2 XDA Atom has all requirements as real business phone and the phone also has a good design...

  • good phone, the bad thing is i go for design then function......so to me its not stylish enough but really good phone

  • It's a very beuty phone

  • Zubin Do you really they're making phones lighter and less solid than they used to for any other reason than profit? Like you say, its the same with any product -when a manufacturer finds a cheaper material, they use it. But they could carry on making rock solid, hard wearing phones, but that would cost them more than to use the flimsy, disposable cheap plastic, so thats the order of the day. Look at the 8800, a fine phone, made with the highest quality materials. That phone will soldier on for years, but my word didn't Nokia make people pay for that - you had to remortgage your house for the phone and its features ain't anything special. And that was the point I'm making. In days gone by, rugged, solid, long-lasting phones were standard practice at Nokia, I was a real Nokia fan and for a good few years, thats all I'd buy. But I turned against Nokia a couple of years back after seeing straight through their obvious customer un-friendly profit-grabbing competitor-bullying consumer-misleading ways. And I know I'm not the only one.

  • This is what Nokia says( About Enviroment) " Design for Environment is a way of firmly integrating environmental issues into the research and development process for new products and technologies. The overall aim is to minimise material and energy consumption while maximising the potential for reuse and recycling. This is part of what we call 'life cycle thinking'. To find out more about other programmes, click here. Nokia's Design for Environment tools help integrate life cycle thinking into business decision-making, aiming to design environmental solutions from the beginning. Our respect for the needs of future generations goes all the way from the production of raw materials selected to the recycling of obsolete equipment. Nokia in the UK has been instrumental in the development of the Design for Environment tools and processes at Nokia Mobile Phones. The activities we are engaged in range from material substitution in mobile phones, to measuring and improving their recyclability, and reducing the energy consumed in use. Periodically we conduct life cycle studies to deepen our understanding and ensure our strategies address the most important environmental issues."

  • All that you environmental friendly ppl are saying is crap. Nokia has changed the way we used u handle our mobile phones. In old times the cars used to be rock solid, so why are they making them lighter & less solid. Boss all these explainations do not hold any ground. Nokia has actually pushed the competetion against the wall. If they are working on newer & sexier models, its only thanks to Nokia. The entire defination of a Mobile has been changed and this has happenned only because of Nokia. If we see fewer companies sitting on their assess, it is only because of Nokia. You take any damn product around us, you will find that the quality that we used to get in yesteryears is no longer present. This has only to do with our hidden desire to change, to be fashionable & to be modern. Nokia has been working towards getting us cheaper & commercially viable products, to ensure that this wonder is placed in each pocket and that everyone is connected to everyone. I salte Nokia for "Connecting People" And lastly none of companies work for charity. Nokia is a environmental friendly company and would do all in its power to save it. Anyways the old mobile phones do land in poorer countries due to market dynamics and no one needs to make a strategy for it. Our environmental is being shattered due to much bigger project that we tend to ignore. Environmental is being polluted at a much larger scale by weapons, poisnous gases and what not. Because of Nokia, we are much more connected resulting in lesser wastage of raw materials and our resourses. And the crap about Nokia Menu being boring! I have found very few people who will say the same till date. Nokia's reason of success is sue to its software development. Its the easiest and the the most effcient. And I do not work for Nokia, but am a true fan of this giant. Bye

  • Striker, You have mede my point...no need to ship old phones to 3rd world or developing countries Motorola are launching a sub USD 50 phone in India so is Nokia. Under the guise of technological improvements these companies are covering up their shabby approach to the environment. 67 million phones you mentioned Nokia sold, that is 67 million pieces of JUNK 2-3 years down the line. If a phone lasts 5 - 6 years that is less junk we all have to deal with. Also Nokia battries have been giving up in a years time ( I have been complaining about this for some time 6210 7 hrs new phones max 2-4 hrs why has Nokia stopped making what I call integrated body battries--they last longer) replacing 67 million battries every year is great business for Nokia....also it is killing the world. Any Idea how many stand alone battries Nokia sell every years...it will be interesting to know.

  • i really like this phone if there was a camera...

  • Sam The most recent environmental report I could find on Nokia's website is from 2002. Link below: Their environmental policy can also be found on their website: Although as you've stated previously, they could do far more for the environment if they just increased the longevity of their products. Look at the old 3310 or going even further back the 6150 or the 5110......These rock solid phones, were released years ago that are still being used today (look at the forums, recent posts by current users). Can you imagine trying to use, for instance, a 6060, or another one of their flimsy, disposable phones of today in 5 years time? They'll have fallen to pieces by then even with only moderate use. Now I completely understand that in todays industry, in most cases, handsets are not needed for longer periods and most service agreements offer upgrades after 12 months, but if we are talking environmental issues here, then this is clearly something Nokia (among others) have taken a much lighter stance on in order to ensure their profits don't suffer. All they (or the networks) need to do is recall old handsets when offering an upgrade, then the old handsets can be either recycled or re-used in developing nations. Unfortunately I can't see anyone doing this as it would meen extra staff, extra administration and logistics and extra effort. So its just not good business sense. Sad but true.....

  • does any one have a copy of nokia's environmental and recycling policy. they are glad if you replace your phone regularly without taking into account what will happen to the environment. i think a little more research must be done in this area.my appeal to all cellular companies pls make your products robust, batteries last long and talk time even longer...you will be contributing to the environment

  • NOKIA SUCKS! i've been a nokia user since 1998 from 5110 to 3230. its boring, bulky, and it's value doesn't hold-up that long. The next thing you'll know it just dropped 50% from its original value. i tried samsung and motorola they're quiet good compared to nokia. This Finnish company doesn't care about "human technology"... they only care on "Money Technology". Customer care is a pain in the neck. and since China's economy boomed Nokia prices began to dropped overnight and quality deteriorated. im happy to shift to sony ericsson. even though its cheap, it has class, style, functionality, and simplicity. ive been using SE's T68i, P900, P910i, K750i, and K600i. by the way its a phone unlike nokia trying to converge everything... whats next nokia a phone that has a freezer in it and can run upto 300mph? hahahaha. wake up! its a phone not a mixed up stuff that's going to be useless after all.

  • Jo....Nokia is big right now...2 years hence will they be big....not at the way they are going...they will loose market share . By the way 67 million phones translates to what % of market share...also do share with me what nokia's market share has been over the years... I know it has dropped over the years... You sound like a guy who works for Nokia...instead of trying to justify what Nokia is doing take this as positive feedback and get them to improve their products....as long as a customer complains you know you have a chance to retain his loyalty. As soon as he goes quite you loose him. I have been a loyal Nokia fan for about 5 years. Now I am at the point of shifting to Sony Ericsson P910 or waiting for the P990 as I am not happy with the 9300 and the 9500 is a bad product with too many flaws and compramises.WAKE UP NOKIA TO THIS REALITY YOU ARE LOOSING MARKET SHARE and the only reason is that the products are slowly detiorating in quality.

  • hey striker, they are actually way ahead from all the other makers generally speaking, that strategy you say, about putting the phones of the markets and then when they are released they are not impressive anymore, sounds more like motorolas, nokias phones are released no mroe than 6 months after they are announced, there are a few exceptions, and they are not losing market share, they sold 67 milllions of handsets last quarter and 60 millions before that, you know thats a 7 million grow, they are good and you know it =)

  • They should do Notebooks not phones...

  • SAM You're absolutely right, Nokia are gradually losing their clients confidence and if they carry on like this all they're gonna be left with is the Finns and bona-fide Nokia fans. Thats because they treat their customers like they're fools. Who in their right mind can't see through the fact that Nokia announce new phones by the bucketload to give the impression they're ahead of the market, yet by the time they get around to releasing them they're no better than the competition. And by then and people have lost interest and/or confidence. I'm no brain surgeon but even I can tell you this is the wrong way to keep hold of loyal clients.

  • After comparing Nokia 9300i with products of Sony Ericsson, I feel Nokia 9300i is overpriced. If the price of the handset is around 19-20k, then it's worth buying!!

  • hi... I have seen many negative posts for this phone as well as other low featured phones coming up....if every phone comes with the greatest set of features available up to date, then there wont be a differece in the market segments...people how can spend more and need more functions can go with the high end phone while others can choose phones for their own requirements...there is no such rule as that every new release should have all the features... Cheers... jay.

  • goto www.symb.co.nr free symbian downloads, no spam 100% free!

  • I am wondering if anyone, espically consumer forums can take Nokia to COURT. Their 5110 /6210 had between 4Hrs 30 Mts to 7 Hrs of talk time...now their best phones do 4 hrs..technology has improved but their strategy seems to be-make poor products with shabby technology and keep forcing the customer to upgrade....(like the 9300i)BAD STRATGEY NOKIA YOUR MARKET SHARE WILL FALL Also why has Nokia stopped making phones with battries that are a part of the body like the 5110 or 6210 .....

  • Sanjeev Well said you've got Nokia sussed, and you're further confirming what I've been thinking and saying about them for a long time. They need to stop flooding the market with tweaked versions of existing models while simultaneously hypeing several unreleased "uber-phones" that get delayed then delayed, then delayed again. Then, by the time they do come out they're a let-down cos the competitors have something available that equals or beats it. Nokia is all about clever marketing, they get people drooling and then make them wait. 18 unreleased phones on the main Nokia page of GSMarena. Think that says it all. People are getting wise to you Nokia.

  • 9300i... The least I thought they would come up with a vibrating alert, very important option in a phone in today's noisy world. I sure hope if they come up with a 9500 update, I hope they have a vibrating alert in it. Nokia needs to bring out with more innovative. Currently they are just stuck wtih producing (i) versions for their current phone or copying looks from other companies or most importantly - the never ending software issues. I have a friend who feels it was the biggest mistake he made buying the N70, he says the software issues are never ending. When can we buy a nokia phone which is complete. We all know that answer.. Nokia does too :)

  • u will find the 9300i slow for a while but as soon as the firmwire gets upgraded it should be no problem why do ppl want a camara GO BUY A 8 megapix DIGI cam then.... 9300 and 9300i is Code named ( mini computer ) in nokia.... get the word MINI... if they put a cam it will be ssame size as teh 9500 :) wait untill late 2006 or early 2007 if u want a good 9 series phone... Yes it is true the 9300 has out sold the 9500... Dont complain about looking or anything it is the same i asked my nokia friend y u got the 9300 its old he said its 9300i everything is the same in it only the Wlan.. and some goodies :) for u to wait and see :)

  • mmm...some very interesting posts. Most seem to be either hung up because they want a camera...!!! or more importantly pee'd of with Nokia for launching the same phone with 1 change.! If you look carefully at Nokia's strategy they make/market what they can sell lot's of..that includes the same phones in strange colours..! And just like RIM they offer the 9300i a a business tool....hence no camera and WLAN that works...!

  • heyyy, the features in this phone same as the old one, still dont have any camera.have u think the other features before u produce another phone????wake up babyyyy....but its ok.

  • Nokia, you are missing the point. This is rubbish without 3G/UMTS, camera, and more. You guys should go back to the drawing baard. WIFI/WLAN is fanstastic, but where are the other features? I cry for your R & D and marketing departments. They should go back to school and study more of consumer behaviour in an electronic market place that we are in today. You should add more features of tomorrow technology and not those of yesterday and then add "I" to it. Such moves are out of touch with the market.

  • So far so good... do not expecting camera or multimedia function in business phone... but off course, if provided it will be better... BUT one thing that they must improve... that is a speed... because my Nokia 9500 is really damn slow...

  • Nokia is killing itself......in the business segment poor unimiginative products bad design technologically inferior

  • well somebody just said that R & D department are not allowed to have a camera phone in order to avoid espionage? I guess u were 50% wrong.. me myself are working as bus.dev. (R&D) which means i got to travel around to do lot of survey products and market. In this case I am really need internet connection plus one camera. It would be handy if my phone can do both.. so I guess u were half right and half wrong.. I live in Malaysia and Indonesia most of the time... Yes its true that Indonesia lacks of WLAN access especially in cafe or coffee shop unlike in Malaysia. But I believe it will keep growing the hotspot but it is not free (U GOT TO PAY THE ACCESS) and overseas offer WLAN Access free of charge if u buy some coffee or products.. The other reason is this 9300 are so expensive (mostly nokia are expensive).. so would u guys tell me what the point I should buy this? Instead it is better that I buy another phone like O2, Sony Ericson or samsung rite?

  • About Blackberry Software on 9300i... the old 9300 already has this. And yes you can incorporate it with your BES. Definitely sexier looking than the RIM Handhelds.. Not to mention the Office Application GUI is excellent compared to Text base on the RIMs.

  • 9300 is a boon for people working where cams arent allowed, else theres no other respectable cell without a camera. So I think I'll buy it the day I am into a place like this. Right now I am clicking away with my K750i and Muzik is awesome in the car thru it.

  • hm.... the only feature that I'm looking for from a communicator... digital camera still prohibited from some of formal meeting, and unless the pic quality same or better than 750i's its not worth... IMHO! (from Indonesian too, and more hotspot already deployed ... including in my office, for style I'll go with 8800)

  • How come nokia makes 9300i without camera or major development.. The difference between 9300 and 9300i is only the strong WLAN. In some country like mine, Indonesia, We dont use the WLAN. We only buy cellphone for style.. Nokia is f**ked up...

  • I forgot to mention 9300i is also loaded with plenty of new software including blackberry. Its the best communicator ever.

  • This phone for businessman i think.. its so weak except for the memory =.=

  • Nokia is getting their communicator strategy all wrong... You guys are not keeping your eye on the ball O2 , Sony Ericsson , Palm I Mate and Black berry are going to beat you hollow...BUCK UP NOKIA

  • Enhanced battery life

  • The 9300i has two improvements: 1. WLAN connectivity 2. Enchanced 1,100mAh battery Talk time is up to 8 hours Stand by is up to 230 hours 9300 is one of Nokias biggest sellers and maybe their most profitable phone ever so im not surprised they decided to upgrade it, now its even more perfect. A few more improvements would have been welcomed though.

  • I suppose dragosh is not a businessperson, because I am and I do need a camera on my phone even if is not Mega pixel. Many times in my work I have to have a photo, either as a proof or help my business associates get a better idea of things. So Mr Dragosh when you become a businessperson you will understand that photos are not just for entertainment.

  • This one has WiFi.. 802.11g no doubt!

  • too bad for peeps expcting this one with cam, y do they always look for that feature? just to raise nonsense arguments? tsktsk.. nothin personal but dis fon is for business-minded and not for fashion individuals..

  • Another BAD improvement... (if you say this is an improvement)...

  • i saw this prototype it was due out 2 months ago on the nokia site but they had problem with the Wlan Wlan is the only thing improved in this phone... not much point really oh and if u want a computer phone buy this coz u wont c a 9 series for some time now :) dont listen to ppl saying 9700 or anything its not decided yet but they will come in end 2006 early 2007

  • What is the difference between this and 9300??? I think this is a silly improvement!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice phone but no mp camera,no radio y eonder wy did they announced it,y like nokia phones,y have a 6230i good phone but not perfect, nobody and nothing is perfect, anyway this is a rather good phone and who doesen't like it DON'T BUY IT

  • i think if it consider as business phone it shold have quad band at least since it is smart phone. If they add at least 1.5 MP camera with 3G(UMTS) that ll make this phone perfect ...I don't mind size of this phone .....anyways i think i shold wate ...........and stay with my Nokia 9290

  • this is just a update, wait a bit for a 9700 or 9900 =)

  • this is a good phone not the best. because only one good feature that is added to this phone is IEEE 802.11g or wireless g. when nokia emailed me about this phone i thought this phone is even better than the 9500. i thought it has a at least mp camera, decent music player and higher version of symbian os. maybe ill stick to my 7710 for a while and wait for the much better and powerfull nokia phone.

  • this is a business phone!so a business user doesnt need a camera!dont post any messages that say that this is a really bad phone, cuz it has no camera.its a business phone,a really good phone.if you want a camera, then buy yourself a digital camera, cuz all phone cameras are really bad.there is no phone yet to have a cmos or ccd sensor,so the pictures they take are crappy.no optical zoom,no sensor,no good lens,no nothing.the only good phone is the n90 like phone,i dont know how its called.the one with 3 mp,autofocus and 3x optical zoom.but even this amaizing camera phone doesnt have a good imaging processor.so,dont judge a phone by its camera, especially if its a business phone.

  • I think Nokia is scrapping the bottom of the barrel on their communicators. I honestly expected that a 9300i would be out with a camera as soon as the 9300 was announced. But nooo Nokia only added WLAN nothing else Im very disappointed with Nokia on this phone. They did not even upgrad the Symbian I wonder who is going to buy this phone. Personally a Nokia person I was looking forward to buy a 9300i with a camera, now I have to wait for the Sony Ericson P990

  • I completely agree No use of having this one NO CHANGES WHATSOEVER APART FROM wlan , that all u Want NOKIA Frm ur loyal customers to spend another 38000INR ON SUCH PHONE which doesnt even have looks or nor worth it WAS WAITING fr a long time ,the launch of new communicator COMPLETELY DISAPOINTED

  • anttipng an striker r right regardin d camera but dis fone is stil disapointin considerin how much $$ it will b an onli as 1 mor feature dan d previous 1 but is also heavier nokia seem 2 like rippin off loyal consumers

  • no camera , no 3g compebality , no fm radio, its a hopless phone if you want to upgrade any model that you add latest feature in the hand set

  • anttipng..... I completely agree with you - this type of device does not need to be and indeed shouldn't be equipped with a camera....including one would only increase the cost and would be useless to most business users. My main gripe with this is the fact that Nokia released the 9300 knowing full well they'd follow it up within a few months with an "updated" version. The "updates" are negligible and should have been included in the original.

  • awesome mobile with wondeful features in it...................I love it like any thing .................got every thing in it.. victor

  • There seems to be alot of people here that don't understand that this is a phone for the corporate users. They don't want cameraphones. It's cocidered a risk as it eases attempt of espionage. R&D departments have been "no camera" zones for a long time.

  • very UGLI no camera an onli ting dats dif from 9300 is WLAN dis is preti much a HUGE waste ov time an $$$$

  • What camera? :P

  • um people... this phone has no camera

  • What on Earth is this? I've just compared the specs side by side and there seems to be only one single difference between this and the original 9300 and that is the addition of WLAN. That is of course if you don't count them completely screwing up the design as a difference. Yet another case of Nokia conning their loyal customers. Why couldn't they just release the 9300 with WLAN instead of bleeding their loyal client base for every single penny. Nokia, shame on you.

  • The camera is so good!!!!!! i have one from a nokia company. I buy it with 1000$ cash.

  • there will be no camera in this phone:)

  • i wonder how good is the camera in this phone?
