i got 2 of this(first on 2008, second on 2010), and work greats. Second one get 1000h of life timer without problem, but now with Whatsapp and other programs, it reach his limits... if only Whatsapp be more light to load, I take him for another year. I looking for a successor but no Symbian.. I will go to android, too many apps , too many support ... sorry Nokia!

When I bought this phone, back in the time when it was new, I thought I made the right choice. After a year the keyboard was so broken I had to had it replaced. When it was replaced the keyboard wasn't in level with the phone and it raised too much! Then, the speakers were broken. Had to have them replaced! Then, it stopped recognizing SIM cards and kept restarting! It's your money, your choice. But, if I were you I wouldn't even look at this useless cash-burner phone! Honestly, Symbian!?

if you are using opera, except an inbuilt opera browser, to download any java apps or java games, it will definitely redirect u to the inbuilt phone browser. It happens on all symbian phones.Try and Install Ucweb browser, it downloads all types of apps and games without redirecting u 2 phone browser.

Lucky are those who still got theirs working. Mine is falling apart. Back cover so fragile the latches broke. It's now filled with tape. Also with microphone problems like what the others were saying. Camera autofocus no longer working well. Maybe because of too much tweaking or using the LED as flashlight.

I love this phone. Got it when it came out. Replaced it with a N97. Then two BB's. Got rid of them, the N97 can't work for more than 2 hours without restarting, so I'm back to my trusty "old" N78 and it still works perfectly. Nokia went downhill after making this phone.

The n78 is the best phone I've ever used... The phone on hands is just amazing... Its a phone where you'll never regret buying... The speakers are loud but if compare with the nokia 5800 xpressmusic than the 5800 is louder... But comparing the camera in the n78 and the 5800 obviously the n78 is more clear and gives out more details on the photo and videos... Although the phone is thick but you'll wont even feel a thing when you're holding it... Some of you might think that it will be hard to text someone because of the keypad is in a straight lines but for me between all the phone i've used the n78 is the best phone to text with... Lastly I would like to say if some of you dislikes this phone than that means you'll are just not enjoying what nokia has to offer on the nokia n78...

The N78 is one of the Greatest Phone I have ever used, and one of Nokia's Best. I have been using the phone for 3 years. Despite the years, its Design, the Carl Zeiss Optics camera and Nokia Reliability had proven the N78 the Greatest Phone. The N78 is also one of Nokia's last true Good traditional "Bar-type" layout phone. With Everything you would need: WiFi Connection, Auto-Focus Camera, GPS and FREE downloadable map. The draw back I would give to the N78 is it is not allowed to upgrade to Free Ovi Map navigation. Besides the "UI" part, the keypad sometimes would not respond. The N78 is the last Nokia Phone that I like. And I just wish Nokia would continue with the N-Series with what they do best: Phones in the traditional layout (non-touch screen, non-folding, QWERTY...)

Its very good phone so far. Keypad gives some problems. some keys take unresponsive. but when each restart can resolve all problems for a while. So i can guess its a problem of keypad, can be from firmware. But I'm using the latest 30.014. Camera is fine. But flash light can't fill the light at night. Thus night time photos get dots. In brief its nice phone. I love its music. same quality of my 5800 with earphones. Very easy to handle than my 5800. If some one can make a better keypad for it, it can be the best. GPS works fine. FM transmitter not very powerful. You need to put a wire from your car antenna to driver's seat to get stereo quality sounds.

Keypad is the most WTF part and WTH price for all me. Each replacement keypad costs 15 dollars on ebay. Some I bought, the button not really function. MIC, I don't know why is looseness of it. But when you replace a new keypad on it, always use back the ORIGINAL mic. But you have to split your keypad and the sticked ic board is VERY HARD to separate, and VERY VERY careful of the electronic thing don't split together with it. Usually you will split it using a knife or a ruler.

If it's a RIGHT side speaker, just get a new piece of speaker only about USD~1 on ebay. repair yourself by using open tool costs USD~2. On left speaker, it built with the keypad, you can replace the speaker as your on risk by remove the keypad and force to split the STICKED ic board. I did, and some button malfunction. Risky~~~ Buy a new keypad costs me USD~15 and have BAD MIC quality. Low speaker volume. All keypad you bought on ebay costs about usd ~15 doesn't have navi function. Only original. And is all BAD MIC QUALITY.

I will tell you all the problem that I found on N78. PHYSICAL SPEAKER CLOSURE - Extremely loud speaker with only about 1mm x 4mm exhaust hole which will reduce the loudness and also chance of spoil the speaker by wave vibrating. NOKIA reduced overall speaker volume in firmware xx.xxx. Solve it just remove the WEB-like thing around the speaker on casing. CAMERA - Focus gear spoiled, no longer focus, every picture will only clear in far part. Near part awful blur. KEYPAD - Left SPEAKER, MIC are all built together in KEYPAD. Original keypad is good, but when something spoiled and you have to replace a new keypad, something will happen, you will see. CAROUSEL - Not really necessary unless you are going to show off this feature in your phone. Many people who never use N78 before think it's CANCEL KEY. LOGICAL Unwanted software - Try cook your firmware by delete some unwanted application and processes which can extremely boost up your phone. MPXCOLLECTIONSERVER* I rather replace... WEB > OPERA MOBILE MUSIC PLAYER/REAL PLAYER > COREPLAYER,JUKEBOX FILE MANAGER > XPLORE PHOTO VIEWER > RESCO VIEWER remains other.

awesome phone, i've had it for almost 3 yrs now and it has never failed my expectations. Its got the best battery, its battery still goes up to 4 days with moderate usage. The keypad might seem difficult in the beginning but its really great once you get used to it (it will take a day or 2)

I have been using this phone for over 2 years and i feel this is an excellent piece. I upgraded my firmware to 30.xx and dint get any further update from Nokia. Camera is great for outdoor photos and not upto the mark with night mode. Sound quality is great for music, and battery caters for around 7hrs with continuous music while average battery life is around 2 days. Great phone except for the keypad, irritates while typing long messages. Can take upto 16gb, while 8gb is sufficient for tons of music and pics. I dont know if Nokia still sells this as on today.

I've got this phone for 3 years now. Dropped it on concrete tenths of time and it kept on going fine! I also accidentally dropped it in a bucket filled with water, in the middle of the winter, and it even worked when it was at the bottom of the water (could see its screen working). After drying it, everything worked as before! Damn this phone is resistant! Unfortunately it is pretty outdated, and the shitty user experience nokia sells with huge prices hasn't worth the money. Camera is very good! (Impressive I must say compared to nowadays phone-cameras), but the rest... poor wireless connectivity, laggy Symbian OS, unusable GPS, shitty keypad, are big minuses. In conclusion...I already ordered an HTC Desire HD.

Hm.. I think this N78 is very useful. I already used it for a year and no prob at all. I can install facebook chat so I can chat via my N78 the same goes to YM. The speed rate for browsing internet is quite ok. Well, the GPS.. i never use it coz it cost bill. I installed Garmin Mobile GPS and I can use it for free. So far.. I don't have any prob with this phone. While I'm away, I can 3G with my wife. So, out from 10, I give this phone 8.5. Value for money.

it doesn`t have any problems. or, maybe just a couple of things: every now and then, it restarts by itself, the earpiece quality is horrible, the plastic casing is very low quality, the gps function doesn`t work properly....and the list goes on. but there is one good thing about it: the camera takes very good pictures :D

yeah.. i agree wit u. diz phone was cool when i first get it. . but now there was to many damaged part on my phone . .keypad broken, side flex damaged, and there was dead pixel on my front camera. . wow, sound serious right? and one more thing, nokia was so "clever" ( i'm sarcastic) to intergrate the IHF speaker, microphone into the damn keypad.. what a nice job NOKIA!

Best budget smartphone I ever owned. Nokia may be the only manufacturer that has smartphones in a candybar model. All important functions like wifi, gps, pics, camera are top notch for a phone that i bought 2nd for only 80�. No other phone can have so much options and quality for that price.

hello i have questions and hope somebody can answer. my n78 speakers is not fully working anymore, it has to be press against the body of the phone because theres is a fracture at the edge near the speaker..so if i change the phone housing, will this problem be solved? and another things are it doesnt recognise micro sd card and it will shut down after the backlight gone out when been unplugged from charger..i have factory reset the phone but no luck..i also dont get line coverage..sounds lots of problems lol

i think wht u mean is u want to update ur phone right? well.. just download nokia software updater from nokia website,connect ur phone to ur pc,and start the NSU software.. for more information on how to perform update, search on google .

Hi everyone. I think it is a great phone although the software has some major problems. I unfortunately, accidentally recently damaged my N78 when it was in my pocket walking. The LCD had black markings on it from the impact and navi key no longer works. The marks have since faded and the LCD seems fine now. The only problem is that the backlighting no longer stays on the minute the phone is idle it turns off. The only way to get backlighting to come back on is to lock and then unlock the keypad or alternatively go to the display settings and move the light sensor bar. The weird thing is, if I do a hard reset (*#7370) The phone behaves as it orginally did, the backlight works and so does the navi key. But the minute the battery dies its back to the same issue as I mentioned at the top. I have bought a replacement LCD and want to replace it, if necessary. Has anyone had to do a LCD replacement themselves and has this every happened to anyone else?

I love my N78. Its video player is awesome, camera is good, internet is very fast (if you have 3G connection). Its browser is very good and fast. Music player is average(not very good and not bad). GPS is great(if you have google map). Keypad is good. I m using since 2.5 years and i have not any problem. It is a my best handset

hey guys using N78, i have a question. i wanted to check the microphone prob with nokias. those who have n78, please do this and tell me yr experience. call up customer care or any free of cost no. after the call starts, mute using options--> mute. now go to recorder (i think in settings/ applications), press record to record yr call. now just say something..."hello.. hello.." for some time and then hangup. now check the file that is recorded, go to gallery, refresh it and then in sound clips find the recording and play it. we had muted our microphone, so there should not be any "hello... hello" in the recording. please tell me what did u find. all phones nowadays have digital mic in them. so when u record a call with mic muted, the caller wont hear yr sound but the recording will catch up all the surrounding sounds. this is not the case with n73. n78 and n79 (as told by nokia care) Plz guys and gals, help me find a clean recording abled phone.

ok...so after you reading everyone's rants about the Nokia N78, I decided to write a short review regarding it..since I've been an avid user of the device for over 2 years now. 1) Design: The device is modestly built. It might not be for everyone. You either hate it..or your love it. It's as simple as that. 2) Exterior functionality/Build: So it seems like everyone's biggest problem has been with the keypad. True, sometimes the buttons are hard to click but once you get use to it, it's all gravy. Sometimes I have trouble pressing on the different buttons on the keypad. It seems like Nokia built the buttons too compact together. Again, it takes a while to get use to There's definitely useful buttons on the side such as shutter, and zoom in/out. To tell the truth, the back cover for the battery of the phone has been troublesome since day one. It just doesn't seem like it fit right and keeps moving up and down. That's my most disappointing upset about the phone. Other than that problem, the phone is pretty solidly built and the screen is quite nice and bright for a phone from 2008. 3) OS: Nothing much to say here...Symbian OS...let's just say it does it's job and leave it at that. 4) Camera/Video Recording: decent camera for a phone from 2008. You got your 3.2 MP in the back and a VGA front facing camera. The 3.2 MP camera takes decent photos. Can be shaky at times. I do warn that the flash is very bright and at times annoying at night. However, all in all, the picture quality is quite good. Nothing much to say about the video recording. Quality is also decent and viewable. Nothing spectacular. 5) Call Quality/Sound: Very good. Haven't had any trouble with calling and receiving. Calls are relatively clear and reception good in most places. 6) Audio/Speakers: Very good. Needless to say, one of the phone's best qualities are the speakers. Very loud and can be heard at the other end of the room. Nokia built the speakers very well and are probably evenly matched with the smartphones coming out these days. 7) Software Functionality: I bought this phone knowing that it wouldn't really be a smartphone. You have a phone which is in between a feature and a smart. Your able to connect to wi-fi but it's just too damn slow to really do any surfing. Surfing the net, GPS, and downloading apps is laggy at best. There are limited apps which Nokia offers. Lots of games though. The most I play is Tetris. 8) Battery Life: Really good. After 2 years of non-stop use, I'm still getting a good 2-3 days on one charge. At the beginning, it was almost 5 days on one charge. I'd say I still charge less than someone with a smartphone, so it's quite decent still. 9) Conclusion: After using this phone for 2 years, I'd have to say that it has gotten the job done. When needed, I've been able to make the calls, and take the photos. There hasn't been any problems with the phone over heating or shutting down by itself. I am still a bit cheesed about Nokia's build quality on the back case. I do have to also note that the phone is starting to become a bit slow and getting on my nerves. It takes a good 2-3 seconds to open contacts or text messages. So the reality is, I'll be needing to upgrade some time soon.

i cant get over it, im finding myself typing on the keypad and wondering "what were they thinking?". Its just impossible to make sumthing like this, its much worse than it looks, its so small spacing between those 4 bars, its so weird, its so cheap, so useless. And the front is really a fingerprint magnet, the "keypad" makes it more so since ders more front surface coz of the lack of real keys. The onli reason why you should consider an N78 is for mp3 player, in car for example, the FM Transmitter is very useful. It also is said to have a better GPS than most other N-series, thats another good thing for use in the car.

haha, i just received an N78 for changing display, the keypad.. Laugh or cry, very hard to choose, its really the worst ever, totally ridiculous. N78 must have been conceived when drunk and constructed during hangover. And den i mean really drunk and the worlds biggest hangover, too many empty bottles of Koskenkorva or Finlandia in Nokias engineering department that day. I hope there was whores also, must have been quite a party =)

I had one for more than a year. I got used to the lame keypad (I'm still prefer the one of my old 5310 XpressMusic) but there were some other issues that I had to deal with. The Battery cover is fragile at best. The worst thing about this is that the WiFi antenna is in the battery cover, so when it broke and hardly remained on it's place, I lost all WiFi signal. GPS never worked as good as I wanted. Nokia Maps was terribly slow, at best. Syncing with my Mac was easy and effortless by bluetooth it was quite nice. Nokia Messaging Service worked extremely well, but it consumed too much internal memory. After a year it started to fail drastically... become slower until it didn't even accept my SIM card. I have had my Nokia N78 for almost 2 years. It restarts sometimes just randomly when messages are open. Or if some apps are open. I used to have a problem with the phone keeping on kicking me out of the settings&I had 2try 3 or 4 times to get back into it. Now since I've deleted somethings on my microsd card. It no longer has this issue. I have firmware ver 30.14. I wonder if I redo the firmware whether it will fix these issues?Thanks

I have used this phone for 2years. This is an awesome phone, trust me! The camera very pretty well on outdoor , n good enough for really dark situation...two thumbs! The keypad is comfort for me. All feature works fast. I have over 3500 images, but my N can opens it all at gallery just 3 seconds... The battery is great, i can chat for a day. Music player is good.. ! But, the disadvantage are, the speaker is not very loud, the front camera just Qvga, No lens cover for the awesome back camera, just it... Finally, I love this phone so much.. It works well till now! Thanks NOKIA!

I spent it just US$250 more than one and a half year ago, I really love it too much,Nokia N78 gave me an great experience about FREE Navigation with A-GPS and also a Rare FM-Transmitter but unfortunately it had a micro keyboard with an pretty black piano design that crashes when I make a call using another app at the same time. I'm thinking to change it for a newest Nokia C-6!

at first, i enjoyed the handset till the left speaker stop working during the first two months of usage, took it for repair after a year with key pad flex broken, got speaker replaced and the flex paid R600-00 for vhe total repair. just bought Chinese N5800 to enjoy more sound as the N78 sounds very low. it is upto the usr to decide buy or discontinue, i recommend discontinue in favour of the new touch models being introduced.

main advantages: 1 : superp sound in headphones just get a noise cancelling headfones and try bass booster in equaliser, edit the bass to the max and the opessite tow levels to the max and open loudness from auduio settings and listen, (i use sony and it's even better than 5800xm original ones) it gives sound and bass output in evry presets better than :5300xm 5610xm n958gb 5800xm I tried all of this at the same preset and settings and try yourself, just get a really good headfones. 2 great overall features from 160 viewing angle screen and amazing clairty, touch navi wheel,micro usp port, gps, 3g and wi fi and fm transmitter 3.5 jack, up to 16gb memroy (i use 8gb and it's almost full and it works as the phone is free)and te instalble applications like blaclist, call recorders and messengers and file managers,ofice and zip tools, it plays very high resultion videos and all audio types and formats... to the facinating clarity camera, but it lacs a lens cover so it ruins it if it dropped or scratced.all in your bocket in small shell. disadvantages: poor design and puild quality, and i mean what i say cause this is my 3rd n78 and i know everyting about it, nokia could give more care to design, keabad works fine and comfotably until it's opened or hits, it's too week, back cover that comes with phone is bad,but you can reblace it. bad speakers outdoors but indoors it's great, Just wanted to say if you gonna have it, you'll have many features but take care of it.

i wouldn`t buy this again. it has many features- good camera, fast processor, but the software is rather unstable, and the buttons are uncomfortable to press. gps doesn`t perform well at all, the earpiece guality is quite awful. i wanted to like this model, but in the end i went back to my trusty old nokia N70.

i had this phone for 2 years.. It basically have all the features u need. Music, camera, internet hsdpa wifi, gps. U name it, it has it.. Most importantly its cheap. Keypad is small, but mistyping is rare. Once in a while it does hang up or restart, but its on a rare occassion.. Even computer hangs. So in conclusion, this phone gets the job done. If you are into affordable and feature packed phone, this is a gd choice.

i have this phone n78 and as what wans say it has its pros and cons i can use this phone g8t i like the size and getting used with the key board the thing i don't like about it is the where the cancel button is when texting and i sometimes cant hang up calls the other thing i think the earphone speaker aint as loud as i would like and the speakers do give problems to i heard so i am trying to solve this problem by not playing music up at the max loud hard enough when all i want is to turn it up lol thanks hope i helped

I am using it,as fan of the nseries from nokia.i have nothing against this phone,only pro's:navi key,innovative keyboard with good pressure point and no slide over,GPS,Symbian with all the applications you want,WiFi,fast HSPDA (3.5G ) internet,up to 8 GB of memory,good sound,pretty solid case,good camera,Carl Zeiss optics and 3.5 mm jack.i made a test,on a party,the mixer fried itself so we....attached the n78 with 7 GB of music...i guess it's woth the money...happy buying

I have been using this phone for the past year and a half and have been absolutely delighted with its performance! It supports WIFI, 3G and GPS and has everything that a smartphone requires! I had bought it for Rs. 12,500 then, and have believe me, every paisa that I put in was worth it! It has given me no trouble and the performance has been impeccable! I would just like to know something... I'm still using the 2GB memory card that came with the phone. i wish to upgrade it to a 4 or perhaps 8 GB... I would just like to know how much external memory does this phone support? Thanks.

I had the nokia n78 since one year, it is a great phone with many features and low price include; the GPS, wifi & FM transmitter. it's keypad seems hard to use but in two days you will be able to use it easily,It's GPS is slow in working "when the phone is searching for available sats" in comparison with n82, but it's a great phone so if you want to buy this phone I am telling you from my experience take it and enjoy ..

Sometimes in the past it has happened that I tried to take a call and the phone will die ( no power). One then need to take out the battery to reset it. This takes a few minutes. Other times the phone would hang up and not respond on any buttons you press. Again you need to take out the battery.

its always better to take a phone that works on Symbian OS.3rd party softwares like fring,voip clients are readily available.tried with fring video call two way in WiFi..works great.is a very good phone with all the features except for the design.the keypad buttons are very small and bcoz of that u will feel the pain whenever u use the keypad.screen rotate function works for camera and browsing.the quality of camera is good.if u want a better phone in DESIGN try N79 0r 5800 music express(rest all the features are almost similar). the other drawback is the speaker volume is very low.better if handsfree is used. the extra feature that n78 has is FM transmitter.u can transmit any songs with frequency anywhere between 93 and 108 overall i love this phone except for the keypad.

most n-series feature pack 2 will work with the 32gb CARD i USE 16GB IN n82 and fine but as chap said its been gauranteed to work with 8gb..so its up to you but its best for me to say for you and that i dont get you fed up cause 16gb works a bit slower that you use 8gb..

N78 is anytime better than N73 in terms of speed, graphic display, video recording etc but N73 has a more stable firmware, better built quality & capture better quality photos. I was a N73ME user, now a N78 user

It's a gud phone. Fp 2 and geotagging cam, n fm trasmitter. It performs good. But keypad is bad. I update dsoftware 3month ago. N fm trasmitter signal becomes stronger. No tv out, flashlite, and sensor accell, but its cheap. So its forgvable.

hi i saw on file manager that there is phone memory. Mass memory and some other sort of virtual memory or network memory. What is that purpose to be. And why can't my phone even install opera mini. Certificate errors even when i change dates for ever. I dumped this phone which i couldn't locate wifi and went for n95 8gb which nokia for some reason don't give support. Like where is fota? fm transmiter not working on my phone 2 and my friend's n78 works and iam out of warrenty, c button is hanging sometime it works and sometimes not on it's own, and call and options button are too close that sometimes i mix , and you must know that upper loudspeaker will stop working suddenly and you'll need to replace it

camera is better than n73 i tried both but no lens cover = scratches, sound is low in loudspeaker but in headfone it's rocking and the pass pooster is kiking and can destroy your earfones and your ear if you get it too high buttons are somehow annoying but pressing it properly will solve this, by the way iam on this site now through it's prowser and lestining to internet radio via wireless lan that i have a wl router at home and n78's prowser and flash player support all sites, great fone in everything , just needs 1- a pig ram for speed when openning many apps at the sametime . 2 - higer quality loudspeakers like n95 or apove 3 - easy changable covers (housings) and cam lens cover and another suitable back cover, 4- improvements in keabad with the same stylish design.

perfect features many many features, very light weight comparing to any phone that have or don't have all this feature, best battery of nokia ( same n95 battery 1200 mah) that provides you all the pwer you need, but there is some problems you must face in it, 1st and biggest the sound , in earfones it's okay i give it very good but in loudspeakers are way too low and add to this that most fones the upper loud speaker stop working sudinly after some time it happened to me and my friend and my friend send it to warrenty they fixed it but the sound was lower than before they change it, i left it and that makes loudspeker don't work on fone calls cause the upper one only work in calls, second problem is the cover you cant change it easyily, you must give it to nokia care cause they are the only one that have the eqipment to change it and as you know that cost way to much than you buy it and change it so get used to the scratches if you scratshed it, and the camera have no cover that means if it falls down the camera will scratch for ever, only this,the buttons are totaly fine,tough and you can text easily if you get used on it, i love it and it's design but only you must know that the sond of lud speakers are low and take care of the housing cause you won't change it easily, and take care of the back cover and but it and remove it corectyly, otherwise you'll brake the the clip up the back cover. and take care of camera lens too, i sugest you cover it wit some protictive film and when you use it remove it and but it back when you finsih, really really nice phone but needs to care, i am using 8gb memore card with no problems it's better than n958gb in everything but the screen size and the sond and the camera, but camera and screen size is fair enough in n78, go for it if you are taking care of it.

Had this phone for 1 year now and I can say it is a pretty good all in one phone. The battery life lasts for a day, that consists of at least 2 hrs of WLAN connection, some texts messaging, a 10 minute call, 2 hrs of total music playback, one hr of ngage gaming and a couple of pictures taken. Typically it will last one day with that kind of usage. Texting on this phone will need some practice, I used to complain texting on this phone when I first had it for at least 3 weeks. After that time you will certainly get used to it and texting will surely be a breeze. I love connecting to the internet with this phone as it easily connects to wireless networks and HSDPA networks. The only grudge I have is the battery cover at the back as it is easily got cracked if you will open the battery cover often. Also one thing I have is the chromium paint that they used on the NAVI wheel that easily fades. Nokia is such a cheapo for using material that easily fades or peels on a high end N series phone. I'm sure it happens on the N81, N81 Gb and N96 as they all use the same chrome paint. That's it, overall I recommend this to all.

This is an excellent mobile. Excellent camera and battery life. Camera picture is so good like 5 MP. Sound quality is good. Internet speed and gps excellent. I am using this set for 1 year but no problem yet. Keypad is slight difficult initially but you will be habitual soon. I LOVE MY N78. THANKS NOKIA TEAM.

Please... ...think THRICE before you buy this phone or take full care for your phone. This is totally a failure product which designed by NOKIA engineers. Speaker, closet design, the sound is actually not transferred directly from speaker to web-like hole. The sound wave will be reflected through many 90 degree small angle and release from a very small hole to lerger web-like hole. This method will help to boost the volume of sound but also lower the quality and risk of speaker damage. Software, lot of unwanted processes, example auto photos thumbnail saving, totally unnecessary. For those who like to tale photo may need to spend a lot of space for saving thumbnail. Camera, don't keep auto focus, risk of focusing motor spoil.

I've searched all over the net about it's plus and minus. At first, i thougt about everbody's comments about the creaky back cover, the keypad, and all other review that said it's not a good phone. Nice phone with adequate specs. It DOESN'T have touchscreen, 5mpix cam w/ xenon or accelerometer like N82, but the design and other specs is really pretty much what i'd need in a cellphone. And about the keypad, i'm sure if you use them to type mail/text message regularly you'll get used to it. The design is simple but still look nice. Although it has a shiny case surface, i wouldn't mind cleaning it once in a while. All in all, it's just a great phone with an adequate specs. I love it.

of course you can, just go to TOOLS then press SETTINGS _general_personalisation_themes in that way you can now change your themes no need to download any application cause that's already built in .... if you want to download themes just go to this website then all you need to do is sign up then after you can fully download everything from that website it's a virus free.. goodluck!

i have used this phone for more than 1 week. there are some pros and cons Pros 1) nice design, very stylish 2) performance is far better than my previous N73ME 3) clear speaker sound 4) 16M colour is really sharp 5) some extra functions compare with my previous N73ME Cons 1) lots of finger prints and prone to dust 2) need to get used to the keypad(not easy to use) & navi wheel(due to last time N73ME was a joystick) 3) my 3.5mm jack output only got mono sound instead of stereo, later need to send to Nokia Care 4) camera zoom buttons are of the opposite of N73ME, not so convenient 5) brightness of the pictures captured is not as good as N73ME 6) camera lens without cover 7) N73ME is better in terms of Mark/Unmark & message composing functions due to extra buttons 8) fragile back cover Overall, i'm still quite happy with it due to its fast performance & cheap price (RM650/185USD)

Hi, guys i have been having this phone for 8 months now. The phone spec is good and after the software update most annoying problem have been put to an end. But i have been having troubles with the phone speaker and the microphone. soon after a month i got this phone the left speaker near the charging pin was dead. i took it to nokia care and got it fixed. the same problem came few days back and the microphone too went dead. had to take it to nokia care again. i asked those guys why is that speaker failing often. he said many phones turn to be defective now a days. that seems to be a really sad thing to hear. i really hope this one lasts atleast an year more :-( this phone got really good spec. its got every thing balanced (expect the accelerometer) a decent cam, good sound quality the os is pitty fast compared to my n91. GPS seems to be excellent with ovi maps and the latest firmware. and the charge is the main thing i would say is the best in its class. i msg aroung 100 to 200 msg a day hear about a 1 r 2 hrs of song while traveling. some rarely photos and speak over the phone for an hour thats my usage. the charge last for solid 2 days. after a few messages you will be comfortable with the keypad too. i can even type without looking at the keypad correctly. that how i do if i am inside class. If nokia had put in some good quality hardware this one would really be a grt phone to use. i hope they do it

I just downloaded bright light software from mobile24.com. And the light is bright i tell you. I thought it was the screen that would light up for long, silly me, was i surprised to c the flash light go on at night. Its a torch i tellz ya. Greatest phone av ever used if you know which softwares to use. also download nokia email and receive all your mail straight to your phone like sms, so cool and its free. I now only need free n gage games site. If i ever buy another phone its the nokia e 72. Nothing else comes close

I've used the N78 since it first came out. It's always been a great phone for in the states and abroad. the FM transmitter is great for travelers who rent cars cause you can listen to your music in any car with a FM radio, even works in EU. the home link media server access is a great feature that makes it so easy to update my phone with new tunes. the last firmware update made the bluetooth car interface much better, it disconnects a couple times when it first connects then its solid, it transferrs the whole phone book and even the antenna signal displays. Nokia PC suite is the best PC side software to support a phone of any that i have tried, I love the internet connectivity feature, its perfect for travel. Nokia's products are useful not just a bunch of eye candy.

Wonderful phone and definitely one of the best i have used. The display is very good under sunlight. OS is fast enough. I had difficulty with the key pad in the beginning but now i got used to it and can type fast enough. Battery life is great when compared to my last phone (LG PRADA) in GSM mode im getting around 3.5 days. Overall very good phone and i really like using it...

Reza, for me it takes less than a minute to connect to gps, but you should enable A-GPS in addition to the Internet.

don't give the wrong fact.... N78 can support micro sd card up to 8gig... the 2gig memory comes with the phone doesn't mean it cannot support higher..... N78=can use up to 8gig micro sdhc

Hey glamboy. Go to the nokia site and download a software updater but usually this comes with the phone on the software cd. After installin follow the screen instruction ie attach phone on pc using the cable and search for update. The software will find the latest firmware and install it. Make sure your phone is fully charged first because it takes some time so i hope your net is fast. Hope that info helped you.

In general, I think there is no problem! I am currently using n78 and I have no problem with it. It is simple and very nice themes and other displays. I will recommend you this phone and you too, will like it if you keep updating its firmware using its PC Suite.

you can just download the jar files and put your memory card using a card reader and connet to computer..open the OTHERS folder in the memory card..its done... note:if it displya expired certificate then dnt worry..just go to date settings and change the date year...try it... if again it appears again lower your date...eg if its in 2009 chane to 2008..2007 try decreasing .....hope you got it......

I really need this and I have posted a request of this program for about 4 times and I didn't get an answer. I first had a nokia e65 which I thought was the worst nokia phone to come out as it cut calls and froze.Then I got the N78 I have never used such a terrible phone. firstly you talk on the phone and the call just fades out, battery life if im lucky lasts till 8pm at night when fully charged. the gps only sfinds signal after you have found your destination yourself because its searching for a signal. and the phone restarts itself as well. My advice stay away from new nokia phones

I've had the Nokia N78 since Nov of 2008 and I have to say I love the phone to this day. The camera is absolutely perfect for those on the fly moments when you don't have a dedicated camera on hand. The video quality is rather good capturing at higher frame rates then most other phones. The camera is decent and at times useful. Texting becomes easy after the first month and you might even notice an increase in texting speeds over other phones due to the close key placement. The phone itself is very durable, it has survived some very scary falls but continues to function properly although it has suffered a lot of scuffs and scratches on the edges. I cannot even tell all of you how much I love the FM transmitter, instead of making a CD from my computer, I just put all my favorite/new songs onto my phone, update the library and off I go in my car enjoying my music. No more digging around the car looking for CD's and no more worrying about running out of writeable CD's either. A complaint I have is about the camera's flash, there should be a way to keep the flash on for as long as you want, this would be VERY useful for someone that is trying to find there way around in the dark. Oh and the navi wheel is completely useless unless you have some ridiculously large list of objects to scroll through, the navi wheel can cycle you through a large list very quickly if you use it right. Now for the bad: For the first month or so you may notice that the screen does a good job at avoiding scratches, i took keys to mine and noticed no new scratches but after a while the phone does begin to collect scratches, now mine has tiny ones all over the screen, annoying to look at when the screen is off but you can't notice them when the screen is on. The top speaker gave out after two months and decides when it wants to work or not. The tabs that keep the back cover on are VERY fragile so do what ever you can to keep the phone from taking a tumble. Sometimes the soft keys (call/hang up buttons, clear button, and the two assignable buttons) decide to be unresponsive, to fix this you must press the power button and lock the keypad and then unlock. Phone becomes extremely slow when you open texts if the inbox is filled with over 1000 texts And once in a while the phone restarts itself for reasons not yet apparent. Although these may sound bad they are NOT major problems and shouldn't scare anyone who is considering buying a N78 away. I read a lot of bad reviews for this phone before I purchased it but I am happy and content owner of a N78

The phone's the all time rocker in the competition against any other mobile phone. I accept that one would take time to adjust to its unique keypad but other than that its a gem of a mobile. Its got features that no other celphone has, for example, the user can listen to the text messages he/she receives but that is only possible if they were written in perfect english - not the roman urdu. It comes with a 2GB memory card, a handsfree, data cable, CD, and charger. The WLAN is great too - its incredibly fast depending on your WLAN connection. I have N78 really I like it too much but only I have one unhappy issue that the keypad is not easy to use sometime it stuck and other time you try to type letter the mobile automativly type for you 2 or 3consecutive did you had this problem?

Not a bad model. To transmit you need to have fm radio ofcourse. Then you can play any song on n78 and while it's playing you go to options where you have an option Fm transmitter, when you open it you only need to set the frequency and turn it on. Then you find that exact frequency on the fm radio from the begining of the story and the song from yours N78 will be playing on it.

nokia n78 is the best if u make a balance between specification and price it's cheap with great features and slim shape and less weight and a beautiful shape as i guess so if u like it's shape it's the perfect choice 4 u the only negative point is the bad back cover but the typing on keyboard is not difficult as many ppl says the greatest feature on it is fm transmiter

5 months with the n78 nw..and im speechless..it didnt hang even once..camera,better than my old n73(eventhough sometimes the n73 gets better image production,but it depends on every different environment really)..i had no trouble using this phone..its simply perfect,messaging is damn easy,eventhough i have BIG fingers..got nothing else 2 say,this phone is perfect.. i concluded that the n78 wins over the n73 by these aspects.. 1.design-n78 has much much much better design,although n78 is kinda greasy n fingerprint prone phone,but remember 2 regularly clean it 2 get da beautiful looks agen.. 2.n78's UI is much easie 2 use,with the help of the navi wheel mostly is a snap.. 3.image quality is better,but sometimes its a bit worse due 2 the light,but still,it gets better image quality due 2 better colour production(been comparing these two phones for months nw) 4.audio on the n78 is noticably better than the n73,if and only if the stereo widening settings are turned off..but if u turned it on,it sounds like the speakers are about to blow. the rest i leave to u guys.. eventhough some people may think the n78 is a waste to buy and use,i still say that the n78 is a clear winner in a way that no one did ever noticed.. overall 4/5 stars..excellent phone :)

I think you mean MORE, not speaking against any phone, the N78 is a lovely device,but the images taken by it didnt look as good as N73 images, i maintain my statement, the N73 gives better colour reproduction.

you are so wrong, i had n73 for a year and a half and now i have n78. the pictures from n73 are worst in every way than n78's, except in day light. the blueish is gone from the n78's photos, you should just research a little nore before speaking against a phone

The N82 camera is WAAAY better, there is a great difference, N78 pics tend to be a bit grainy and blueish some times, its camera is almost as good as N73s, but N73 still seems to have better colour reproduction. By the way has N78 been discontinued? Doesnt look like its on many networks anymore.

Hey friends, bought this fone last weekend. In Indonesia it cost USD 300. Worldwide its selling at USD 200 to USD 220. In Indonesia everything cost 30 to 40% higher than the world. After all, it is a country of rich people. People with lots of money and buying power. Shops are cashing on this aspect and earning very very hefty margins which nowhere else in the world is possible. Now regarding N78, I would like to compare it directly with Nokia N82 as both models share a common foundation. Connectivity is great on N78. GPS, Wifi, GPRS, 3,5G all are well done. N 82 is good too but the battery life is very low when you use these facilities on N82. Camera, ofcourse N82 wins thousand times. Music department, speaker and headfone performance is better in N78. Musicwise, N82 is not too good. Now the notorious keypad on N78, yes it lets you down a bit. But then come to think of it, N78 cost about USD 70 less than N82 and you get a very good music entertainment on it. You would get used to the keys in 1 or 2 weeks. I prefer N78 to N82. N78 is a bit thinner than N82 but about 1mm taller. It rests better in pocket than N82. I have a feeling that menus in N78 are a bit faster than N82 as processer being about 30 mhz faster. But N82 has a hardware accelerator which helps to get better picture quality and better video playback. Now talking about models in time gap between N73 to N95 gb I would like to give 9 points to N82 and N95gb and 8 points to N78 and N95. The biggest plus point which N78 has is its using biggest battery in N series which only N95 8gb is using. N95 gb has a very large screen and hardware accelerator which bites on battery. So in terms of power efficiency N78 wins 100 out of 100 points. Now about a new era, where N97 and N86 are introduced, N97 is a different platform and I am not too comfortable with touch screens and most of the time you have to use 2 hands to perform a task. It puts me away from Touch screen. I would prefer a windows device from HTC as I have used them and I like them. But hate when it comes to 2 hand operation while you are on the move. N86 will be a good device but it still will await a firmware upgrade to solve some issues it is having a present. I will give myself 2 months before I decide to go for it. Will talk to you soon. Hi, I've been using this phone for 10 months and I dont have any problem with it. It's a good multimedia device with many features. But theres one thing I dont like, the keypad, when I 1st use this phone the keypad is very good and very tight but after 3 months of usage the keypad is now loss. Just wanna inform you that the SMS blanking is a result from the "full" messages on your SIM memory.. Just delete one or more messages from ur SIM memory and ur problem is done! And don't worry again about this issue cuz the phone has got an unlimited SMS shared memory
