O2 Jet - User Reviews

  • terrible phone,, worst one i've ever had.... SLOW,, ie, delete message ?,,, deleting message, pause, message deleted, pause, then you're good to go. if you lose the signal while you're talking you get no warning that the call has terminated, so you end up talking to nobody. only got this phone cause its from the company i work for. can't wait for it to break so i can get a decent phone !

  • excellent phone for work use-no frills and lasts for ages between charges. No camera or music player but as i have my own business talk time is really important-had it for a year or so with no problems-10 out of 10

  • Easily the best mobile I have ever had, I'm not a heavy user, just making calls and texting so I don't need the extra frills. Battery life is brilliant, I only need to charge it every 3 weeks or so and I always know its not going to let me down when I need it. Controls are intuitive and easy to master and the phone is well built and has worked faultlessly for over 2 years now. Recommended if you can still find it!

  • That phone is well ugly it's a brick, it's like going back to a nokia 3310. This is for Sir Steven Goldstone.

  • I figured out how to configure the browser/internet on this phone. Before you set up the profile & bearer settings, reset the factory defaults! Then go and find the settings for your network. I'm putting the settings for AT&T below: Under Bearer Settings GSM Data (you'll need to pick a blank slot from the 10 available) Account Name: MEdia Net Number: 14152441012 User Name: [email protected] Password: CINGULAR1 Line Type: ISDN Speed: 9.6 Kbps DNS: 000.000.000.000 GPRS (you'll need to pick a blank slot from the 10 available) Account Name: MEdia Net APN: wap.cingular User Name: (blank) Password: (blank) Auth. Type: Normal Under Profile Name: MEdia Net Homepage: Bearer Settings: MEdia Net Conn. Type: Conn. Oriented (you need to highlight and select this in order to access the IP address screen) When the IP Address screen comes up upon selecting "Conn. Oriented" IP Address: 066.209.011.061 Security: Off Username: (blank) Password: (blank) (be sure to Activate the profile afterwards by selecting 'Options' and then 'Activate') I don't think the settings are any different than they were the first time (when I first posted), but something must have changed from the factory reset! Woohoo! .... would you believe this is a problem I spent many hours trying to figure out, even e-mailing O2 over a couple of weeks to get help? Unbelievable that all this took was resetting the phone. Peace, Jacob M. P.S. Multimedia messages now work too - just make sure to go to the settings, create (or edit) a profile for the settings within your network. Below are the settings for AT&T: Name: AT&T Message Server Bearer Settings: MEdia Net (from that GPRS profile you created earlier) Conn. Type: Conn. Oriented (be sure to highlight & select this option so that the IP address screen opens up) IP Address: 066.209.011.061 Username: (blank) Password: (blank)

  • Hello Luke, Nope, no viruses, just the software. Has anyone figured out how to configure the phone to access the internet through AT&T? I just can't get it to work. - Jacob M.

  • Thank you Jacob M. hope it is not a bunch of viruses - (:

  • The software for sychronizing the O2 Jet to your computer is still available at the link I posted before. However, I am providing the link again for easy reference: Respectfully, Jacob M.

  • Great phone with less price.ringing volume is comparatively less compared to other.Audio player is not upto the mark.Battery life-superb.congrants O2

  • To remove the battery cover, simply slide the cover upwards (towards the top of the phone). Peace, Jacob M.

  • How do I remove the cover to access the battery and SIM card slot? The manual assumes one knows how to do this and does not provide instructions. Thanks.

  • The software provided by O2 for the O2 Jet is solely for synchronizing the phone & Microsoft Outlook. If you need that software, it has been uploaded to Rapidshare (as of today, September, 7th, 2007) and will remain available until it 90 have passed since the last download. The download link is: - Jacob

  • 1. Excellent battery life. 2. Excellent bluetooth feature. 3. Though doesnt have a full featured audio player but still can play audio one file at a time. Good for my 2 year daughter to play with her songs. Added advantage is it has capability to play .wma files also though not mentioned anywhere. 4. GPRS is fine an i could fully customise it to use here in India with Airtel network. Though i havent configured it for internet with a PC so not sure about that. 5. I dont find anything wrong in the phone. 6. Inbuilt ringtone volume is a little low but can be improved using custom downloaded high volume ringtones. 7. Overall a gr8 phone at its price.

  • why did jetstar not allow my phone on there jet.. i thought the two had been sistered together according to the 07 version of planes and mobiles which i read in singapore

  • I have an O2 Jet and am willing to send via e-mail or online hosting (or a cd, if you're in the United States) the synchronization software from O2. Please simply e-mail me with your preference at my e-mail address, which is hosted by Google's mail service under the name "mypublicjunkmail"(without quotes...). Because of the many bots, I'm not putting up the address verbatim, but with a little ingenuity, you can figure out the actual address (hint: its gmail.com). Peace, Jacob M.

  • I just bought the mobile and its a great business phone. The only problem I am facing is cannot connect it to the PC. could anyone help??

  • Where can we download drivers/sync software for this phone?

  • I bought the O2 Jet because I wanted a phone - and only a phone. Of the things that are important to me about having a cellular phone, there are three that stand out: battery life, world-wide use (quad-band) & bluetooth capabilities. The O2 Jet delivers all three of these, with its greatest strength being exactly where it should be: in the battery life. After using the phone for three (3!) hours, the phone's battery was not yet halfway depleted. My other phones, most notably a Motorola RAZR V3, would be nearly dead, if they could last that long. The software: A lot of thought has gone into the simplicity of this phone. The rocker button on the top is enormously useful: there is no need to navigate through menus to change the phone between profiles. Each profile, incidentally, can be customized to your preferences in the ring tone, the volume and ring mode. Additionally, there is the option to disable the phone's calling capabilities altogether with the 'flight mode'. This way, if you wanted to view your calendar while on a plane, you are free to do that. There are two quick shortcuts that are also well thought out: turning the bluetooth on (pressing & holding '0') and locking the key pad (pressing menu+*). These are functions that are very necessarily and having them readily available is a major plus. The phone itself: The physical side of the phone is not disappointing. I prefer the 'candy bar' style of phones, so this is right up my alley. If you prefer flip phones, well, then you'll be frustrated here. The O2 Jet has no counterpart in that style. The buttons are BIG, and that is really excellent for anyone with large (or clumsy) fingers. The central button in the number pad (#5) has raised dots so that you can center yourself on the phone for dialing without having to stare at the phone. Useful for driving. I also appreciate the extra ~55 megabytes of space that can be used as a flash drive. It is truly Plug&Play (with Windows XP, at least). Its not a lot of space, but its enough to drop Portable Thunderbird, for example, provided that your profile isn't too big. Assuming I have a cable handy, I can make calls with this phone AND use it to check & download e-mail or carry documents. Nifty. The downside, of course, are the extras that one may like to have in a phone. No one buys this phone expecting a camera, but I have been disappointed by limitations of the text messaging abilities, the fact that you can NOT fully set up the internet access and the inability to install any java programs. The text messaging software is based on the outdated T9 technology. After having used Motorola's iTap software for a couple of years, I am continually frustrated by the backward-ness of T9. Its old, its not very good at learning new vocabulary and frankly, it should be shelved. Fortunately, I didn't buy this phone primarily for text messaging, but when I do send messages, I keep it quick. The internet controls are all changeable save the Gateway IP, which is locked into the O2 network. Thats a shame, because having internet access on a phone, while not necessary, is a great boon for those moments when you'd like to check e-mail, view news quickly or something else altogether. Again, not a main feature of the phone, but it would have been nice. Finally, there is the lack of Java. My first step with Java-capable phones is to install Opera Mini: its faster and better than any browser built into a phone. But aside from not being able to use the internet, I also can't install Opera because Java isn't available on this phone. Again: not an essential part of why I bought this phone, but it sure would have been nice, even in a business phone. The final evaluation: While I have a few minor frustrations with the phone, I am very satisfied with it for what it claims to be: a phone that you can use anywhere for a ridiculous amount of time, as compared to its peers currently on the market. Its a shame that its not officially available outside of the O2 network, but for those who manage to get ahold of it despite this (eBay would be your friend here), it is well worth the effort. Respectfully, Jacob M.

  • this a warning to all those who are planning to buy o2 devices in the future! beware! I am from India. I was happy using O2 phones such as the XDA II and the Atom so I decided to go in for another. I purchased an O2 XDA Stealth on Feb 12th 2007 and had immediately regretted the decision as I started facing a hell lot of problems in the device. Almost after a month of correspondence with O2 they sent me a replacement handset. I was happy until i opened the new unit. It had the same problems and some new. Again after long talks with O2 (Mr Keanu) they sent me another replacement promising me that this would work but it did not. Naturally I was very angry and frustrated. At this stage I ahd lost all faith in the Stealth and demanded O2 to give me some other handset for all the inconvienience that I have faced . After a series of talks with O2 Singapore(Mr Keanu) I received an Atom Exec. But my problems worsened! After a couple of days the Exec "died" ie it would not charge. when the charger was connected it would show full battery and when disconnected it would switch off and not switch on for days. Highly annoyed and frustrated I began my talks again with O2 and at the same time bought the O2 Zinc. That was another error from my side as the Zinc also had problems. Its indicator LED malfunctioned and the microphone gave out static. Those were horrible times for me having two defective handsets. O2 finally agreed to replace both these handsets and they did. So I have already used 3 Stealths, 2 Atom Execs and 2 Zincs. That adds up to 7 O2 phones in about five and a half months!!! Well things dont end here. once again I am having problems with the Zinc such as the LED is malfunctioning, the speaker switches on automatically when a call is made, the speaker dies out, screen freezes..etc.. So to all those who are planning on investing their money on an O2 device please do not as the quality of O2 devices is degrading day by day and is no longer dependable as it once upon a time was. if any of you want to know bout the problems i faced in these many devices please contact me on +919884414907

  • I used to be with Motorola handphone before. But I need another handphone. I consider to buy this one or onather motorola one. Give me the best choice. thank you

  • a nightmare mobile from hell one word horrid ....... crashes everyday belltones are vile too . no mp3 support. better off spending your cash on a better up to date fone .

  • This phone was made for people who don't want an all frills phone. It's also very useful for business users due to battery life and also who do not allow camera phones to be used in their company. A lot of businesses don't allow this for security purposes. Look at the bigger picture people. At least the phone won't pick up the software 'issues' that many Nokia phones seem to pick up when they cram their phones full of rubbish software that crashes.

  • i've bought a new one, everything are good but i cant downdoad music and picture via cable because my computer couldn't recognize port. anybody help me? there's problems? please tell me how to deal with this problem. My e-mail : [email protected]

  • wow this phone is soo great. it may not look all that but the features are fantastic. it may not av a cam but atleast u can recieve cam pics which is a positive thing isnt it?. the battery life is superb ive got this handset as i won it and i thinks its great. god knows how many times i have dropped it down stairs or thrown it in a paddy lol, but its great, and i know o2 network do great deals on it, so why not go to o2 local store now and get this handset u wud be crazy nit to.... its got the best camera there is on the market!! even better then the n95 now thats a wopper, and for people with slightly big fingers or hands its ideal for you, its perfect for anybody from a young kid to no affence a old man lol... so get out there go to o2 store and buy this handset ....

  • go and buy a proper mobile . not this out of date object.

  • best phone i've ever used and god it's sturdy i dropped it down a flight of stairs and you couldn't even tell. and a 8meg camara. beats the n95 hands down. go o2 go o2

  • Number 1 this phone has bluetooth for headset only and not for anything else. Number 2 no camera Number 3 the large memory is not for mp3 ringtones (what a waste) Number 4 the screen is wrotten. Only saving grace is battery time in which case you might as well have bought an old 3310 or 3410 and have money left in your purse for a bottle of perfume or wine. Forget this one better options around girls.

  • well guys good news with this handset if you upg with this now you get free bt headset with it so i defo do recomend this one

  • the 8 meg cammera is only accessable via the upgrade of..........buying a 8 mega pixel cammera though....

  • fantastic phone 8 meg camara great pic and the mp3 beats any sony phone basically buy the bugger

  • this phone is awsome its the best

  • Hi. Iam looking at buying this phone but being partially sighted I was wondering if on texting options you could enlarge the font size. Can any body HELP.

  • Does This Play Full Mp3 tracks received by bluetooth ?

  • Cannot open emails over 600 words long with this phone - not that useful for business. I'm changing mine for a Nokia.

  • This phone is fantastic for battery life and for the first time user. I cant believe you get an in car charger, docking station and phone skin with it all for only 59.99 at o2 stores

  • Hi, not sure if its available through stores in the phillipines but you can buy it from o2.co.uk for 59.99 and even comes with a b/t headset aswell :P

  • the o2 jet is a bargain and a great business alternative, with me currently working for o2 i've had the option to test one of these and for the price they are great, loads of battery make it of great use to buisness users and comes with plenty of accessories aswell

  • just to update things the signal aint great on this device keeps going off then on and the keypad is getting sticky

  • Nothing makes me rage more than running out of battery life - i'm a business woman, and need to make calls when i need to, not when the phone battery allows! I bought one and find it so easy to use, the battery is truly fantastic, you get loads of accessories in the box - which was a pleasant bonus! So what if it's not the sexiest device on the planet - it does a great job for me and i never miss those important calls. I think it's pretty good with coverage too - connects in places my others havent.

  • to miss_skintight your missing the point this phone is a lowend model designed for people who want phones for simple communication that are user friendly and reliable and most of all cheap.chav

  • bought phone yesterday50 o2 shop..including docking station.. charger, car charger and software in the biggets oddest box ever(see it to believe it!)phone does exactly what it says on the label.. call, text wap and bluetooth,, no more no less.it is excellent! anyone happy with these features is in for a treat as battery lasts forever.terxting slightly slow but good big buttons for ease of use.wap is good although call volume seemed a little low. has external dedicated switch for vibrate silent or normal which is very useful.highly reccommended, still can't get over the low price!

  • i think its time the major mobile companys got there act together on battery performance and this o2 phone deals with that issue so hats of to o2

  • this phone is very, very basic to say it has only been out a few months,d'ya think?!

  • this fone has too much memory!! it doesnt even have a camera!!

  • hmm... 65k colour only? not Windows Mobile? i think i will prefer others.

  • Does it sync with MS Outlook? Any limit to the number of contacts it can store? Can you send sms from the PC when the phone is connected to the PC via BT?

  • I have just brought this phone from the o2 webaddress and it should come to my house in the morning!Have I made a good choice? Please send me an email.I brought the phone because it has great standby time and the phone is a quad band phone

  • Newsflash: grown men don't want to listen to MP3s on their phone or text pictures to their mates. They have a proper stereo in the house and one in the car, and a real camera for taking decent pictures. Nokia has nothing like this: it's like a 6310i (which would sell well if it was brought back - you can still pay more than this for a 2nd hand 6310i on eBay) with a colour screen & speakerphone: everything an adult needs, and none of the fripperies. Several Nokias might *look* the same, but they have more features and poorer battery life. Nokia's closest competitor is now the e50, but this is more complex and costs twice as much. I think this will sell well, though of course not to anyone who thinks of their phone as a status symbol (ie, kids).

  • 6230i: a little bit old, not very long battery life but still closer to what you want. 6233: new phone replacing 6230i but battery life is a little bit worse

  • To Faisel: sorry but I would not have writen any comments before verifying the truth or possible answers. For sure, I am not perfect and I can have skipped the information... but I don't see a phone on Nokia's site that has: a simple interface for business & BT & battery life. What I see is complexity & BT & very low battery life (3 hours), or simplicity & no BT & low battery life (5 hours). If you see another model, I would be pleased to know about it. Thanks.

  • To rascal: Mate, Nokia was the first Manufacturer to make Low End phones and they are still in production AND you can buy one from any Retailer today! So get your facts right and don't say "I wish Nokia would make the same".

  • The phone is heavy and long(ish) because of the size of the battery. It isnt possible to squeeze such a long stand-by time out of a tiny battery. O2 approached Nokia and asked permission to relaunch the 6310i but were refused. They have borrowed the chipset design, and come up with a 6310i clone. It is unlikely that Nokia will do anything similar as the potential market is very small compared to the global market Nokia traditionally competes in.

  • This is exactly waht I am looking for: simplicity, BT and battery life. Nothing else. Just hoping that Nokia will come with something similar... (because Nokia is Nokia).

  • oh....they give the 1600mah battery life... how niceee....n i wish to get one...althought not much of function it build in just little complan about the phone weight....121g? shouldn't o2 company their company light it a bit..(btw 80-100g) n another thing is the lenght....11.7cm long is to long n compare with normal saiz of phone... when it will sell in malaysia's market? can anyone of you tell me? thanks...n i'm a o2 supporter here: ) sean

  • This phone is aimed at people who still cling to their Nokia 6310i. Theyre people who arent interested in cameras, music players, radios, 3G or MMS. The idea is that this is a cheap business handset which will be used for voice and text only. It has Bluetooth so that it can be used in a car or as a modem but thats it. The battery life is this phones USP; it is not supposed to be all things to all men.

  • WOW can you get any more simpler than this phone must of taken them 20 mins to think of all the functions they would cram in this phone
