  • Hello my o2 XDA lls phone has no battery and how can i get it from here in Uganda?

  • It's amazing how I came across this page.. this was probably the first smartphone (if you can call it at present) I ever laid my hands on.. I think it was 5-6 years ago.. It was the last phone I used with a stylus.. I started using iPhones after that.. Until recently that I switched my iPhone 4 for Galaxy Note.. And voila once again I have started using the stylus (oops, s pen).. thank you o2, without you, present smartphones would probably not exist! :-)

  • as i have notice, almost O2 xda iis has a problem with its time. sometimes you need to reset it, or, even if you are going to change it from time to time it will always be not accurate. when the battery becomes too low, take note of it...the time will going to change and it will not accurate again.

  • I've been using XDA IIs for three years. At first I was excited because I really wanted an all-in-one phone. Then it all just turned to frustration as the battery is always fu@#*ing up. All the good features are useless when the battery needs constant recharging; and by that I mean every day recharging! Oh, how I hate this phone, especially the stylus which keeps on falling. I bought a new battery and it still won't do it. WLAN is also useless even under WM 6.2. I should've gone for the battery efficient ones. I'm saving up for an iphone

  • Your stylus pen tip must contact the exact centre of the alignment cross each time it moves. The cross will then move from it's journey from each corner to the centre of the screen. Your screen alignment is then complete.

  • can i use 8g mmc here?how can i set the GPRS and can i use only the wifi in hotspot only?tnx

  • i upgraded my OS to windows 6.1 and it fixes the problem regarding losing all the data whenever the phone turns off when the battery drains. upgrading to 6.1 also makes the resolution clearer but you need to install an application for backup since the back-up program that comes with the windows 2003 OS is not included anymore on the 6.1 version ( try using SPB backup ). the default contacts program on the 6.1V is icontacts already and it also has an HTC themes as a default theme. the only downside is when you upgrade to 6.1V a lot of procedure should be done.

  • Hey Francis, only IIi has capability to have video out. You can use it for projector presentation or even watching movie or tv , but this features is optional since you need to buy Battery pack for this special features. Sad to say our XDA IIs don't hav this features.

  • i just bought a 2ndhand xda iis and it doesnt hav an activesync installer. can anyone provide me one.

  • Hi, guys, who want to know about this phone. I recommend this Blue Angel to any one who likes every penny worth spent on secondhand or old gadgets. Lived with Xda IIs for a year, I'm really happy. This 3rd generation of HTC (not meant as 3G/UMTS) is very good for my work and fun. I can have softwares supported since 1st Xda till recent HTC Diamond. For the outside I carry an O2 Xda IIs. When the dark comes everyone must be surprised that I own a recently released HTC Diamond. It is one of most beloved smart phones out in the market just now.

  • i had this phone maybe two years ago .. i was using it for school purposes. unfortunatly i let my partner use it , we broke up .. got my XDA IIs back & its broken. guess what .. i sold it to those people who buy 2nd hand stuffs & i only got $40 for. a**H**e EX!!!!

  • I love my XDA IIs, I upgraded it from Windows Mobile 2003 to Windows Mobile 2006. I am using a 4gb SD card, lots of games, lots of applications, and I am using HTC home page and HTC themes. Very nice, executive looks. I have been using my XDA IIs for 2years now and I am still satisfied. the only downside is the low camera resolution. But the rest is fantastic.

  • and if you don't want others to sneak to your "personal" files, try to use 1-PASS. an application so you can lock you PPC

  • You can use different tones for message alert or even for calls...if you are using WM6 just saved the tones to windows folder on your fone and when you are done with that just open the settings and you will now see that tones on the options... for any questions regarding Windows mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 6 for XDA IIs email me at [email protected] and also I have lots of applications, games and themes for XDA IIs..

  • u can use mp3 as ringtones and wave to msg tones

  • to hazel u cannot add a new tone, use the default tone...

  • how can I add a new tone for the Massages?

  • go to national bookstore buy a pen named stylus...

  • @mok...i have my little sister who always try to sneak my phone at nigth im worried that she may accidentally open files that are not for a gurl, hope u teach me how to hide the files specially video thanks...in advance...

  • This is a good phone but there's a price you have to pay... batt, and other accessories are very expensive... so if you stumble into this situation where you have to replace something, its a pain... know what im sayin... but the reward is, LOADS of really, really cool apps is avail on forums for FREE! You can even hide you're mistress's text messages and scandal pix from your gf, wife. Smashing! Fantastic!

  • what $150 ?? is it a price for a new xda IIs ??

  • cool O2IIS = 150$

  • A useful phone but it's big and slippery so slips out of your hand and pocket too easily. A rubber grip would help. The clip belt tends to jolt off the waist when running or moving suddenly. I keep dropping mine therefore, and it gets scratched. If you knock the screen and lose the view, the phone has had it and has to be replaced (yes, I've done this too!) Battery does drain fast, because the side and front buttons are over sensitive and activated by accidental touches - inevitable when it's in a pocket or bag. A digital camera case carried around the neck is a good solution to most of these problems. Switching it off means having to reset it when you turn it on again. To avoid data loss, always back up contacts and files to the SD memory card. From there, they are easily saved to computer. Very useful if the phone lost, damaged, or stolen, or if data is lost due to it shutting itself down. Files, including contacts and numbers, can be transfered back onto the phone via a card again. I love the hand writing recognition facility, and notes & drawings by hand. CC

  • its not sssssssssssssssssoooooooooooooo gggggggggggooooooooodc

  • Cool n Nice

  • i need to know that my o2 xda 11s can upgrade to wm5

  • Hello All! I just want you to know that I love this phone specially it's multimedia function. It's been two months now, and I'm still very satisfied using it. I've watched transformers movie several times in this phone and my friends were really amazed specially my GF.=) Though I admit that the battery drains very fast but I have no problem with its size. And since I have some discoveries maximizing its multimedia features, I would like to share it with you: a) Video Use - It reads MP4 and Windows Media Video (WMV) format. But I prefer the WMV format because of the Windows Media player installed in this phone. But you need a converter to do this. You can use DVD to WMV converter program like Xilisoft. Size of 1 movie range from 500 - 800mb after conversion, 100-200mb for music videos and 400mb for concerts movies so you need an SD card with higher capacity (I think it only reads up to 2gb). b) Audio - It can play MP3 and WMA for music using the Windows Media player. For the incoming call ringtones, it only reads WAV and WMA format (copy paste to My device/Windows/Rings). For text message ringtones, it can only read WAV format of up to 1mb ( u need an MP3 to WAV converter program if you want more ringtones for this). Copy paste WAV files to My device/Windows. Enjoy your O2 Xda IIs. Hope you learn something and hope that you can also share something for me. P.S. (Where can I buy body casings, accesories for this phone?)

  • nice!

  • This Phone isn't recommended for people typing/using the keyboard for extended periods of time as the keys rather hurt after a short sms, You are better off getting a HTC TyTN or TyTn II as their keyboards are better. I Love this phone but the keyboard is probably the worst out there on a Pocket PC. You cannot upgrade the ROM via SD (unlike some) Nor via Bluetooth, You WILL need the CRADLE or SERIAL cable. On a plus side this phone has got to be one of the oldest phones that can be upgraded to non official WM5/WM6 roms as the specs of the XDA IIS at time of release is pretty close to the best you can get at the time and still is on par with WM5/6. If you can get this on Ebay it'd be the cheapest WM6 machine you can get.

  • hi. im planning to buy this phone. since im having a hard time typing my paperworks needed in school i want to have a pocket pc. is the phone i like suitable for me?! im a nursing student. thanks. i hope to receive a comment from you guys. thanks again.

  • im using microsoft activesinc 4.5 and im using it via bluetooth (i dont have a cradle) although its possible to install softwares, i just dont know if its possible to flash/upgrade your phone using bluetooth/sd card

  • i have this lcd problem on my xda iis, every time i play full screen using any video player, on slightly fast action scene, vertical (when holding the phone on landscape mode) lines appear as if that the frames "sticks", its pretty annoying, i have no idea if whether its a software problem or the lcd needs replacement since i noticed that the screen has a hard time refreshing itself (maybe due to old age) does anyone has similar problems? i might end up replacing the lcd or upgrading the rom

  • help me pls on how to upgrade my xda

  • Does anybody knows if theres a way to connect XDA IIs to an LCD Projector? Iam planning to use it for a power point presentation via projector. Thanks in advance...

  • I have this O2 XDA IIs and up until now for me this is the much "gwapo" pocket pc phone on the market..nice body color finish..nice sliding keyboard with blue backlight..nice hardware keys...nice big screen..still fast with 400mhz frequency...nice internal memory and it supports up to 8gig memory card (well I dunno if it will still support higher memory capacity memory cards) and now I just upgrade my XDA Operating System from Windows Mobile 2003 SE to Windows Mobile 2006 Professional!!!!!!!!I Love You XDA IIs!!!!!!!!!!hehehehe one million POGI POINTS!

  • Hey, I know the solution for your issue on your XDA...I, myself encountered the same issue. I even went to brightpoint there in Cubao and to my amazement they did not even check my XDA IIs and yet they are charging me Php10,000 for the LCD Touch Panel replacement parts excluding the labor charge. What is this a HOLD UP? So what I did, I went to Quiapo and bought a digitizer for only Php400 but I was able to make "tawad" hehehe so I paid them Php300 only and now my XDA works perfectly but after a week I acidentally drop my XDA IIs and the screen..I mean THE WHOLE LCD SCREEN,had cracks..so what I did I went to quiapo again to look for a replacement for the LCD Touch Screen sadly it cost Php5,000 so I just went to GREENHILLS and the techy people there was able to fixed my issue on my xda, the replaced the whole screen for only Php3,500 included the labor and as a freebie they upgraded my ROM from WM2003 SE to WM6 Pro...text me for further inquiries Red Hanks +639176431935 [email protected]

  • I need help badly. I am from Manila Philippines. I have an XDA O2 IIs phone. 1. A few months back the screen began to have this static thingie, lines that appear everytime i slide my fone. sometimes the screen gradually turns white until all u see nothin on the screen but white. other times the phone is ok. 2. i called up the service center in the Philippines (used to be Brightpoint, now name was changed to IconTech) but i was terribly disappointed because one of the managers, without asking for the details of the problem, immediately told me that my screen is defective and needs to be replaced. Perhaps they have an excess inventory of LCD screens of XDA and he didnt bother to ask me what was wrong, but I WAS TURNED OFF AND WILL PROBABLY NOT GET HELP FROM THAT SUPPLIER AGAIN UNLESS IM TERRIBLY DESPERATE. anyway, i am pretty sure my LCD is not defective because I can still use the LCD, it is still sensitive to taps and all. My friend who had the same model before, told me that the ribbon needs to be replaced and not the LCD because we had similar problems and replacing the ribbon of her phone fixed hers. 3. But I noticed that in addition to problem #1, despite my regular screen alignment, the LCD is not as accurate as it used to be. For example I cannot tap on the icons accurately. If I actually tap on one icon, the icons beside it will be activated and not the one I tapped. I have tried the master reset and its still the same. Now I noticed that the screws on both sides of the XDA have turned loose and was already missing, but the slide is still functioning well. 4. One day my LCD just stopped sensing screen taps. It cannot respond to taps anymore. But the keypad is still ok. So what I did is do a master reset, but I was stuck because you after the master reset, you have to tap the screen in order to activate the phone. So even if my phone still works, even if the LCD still works (display is OK, with instruction for activating your phone by tapping etc.) and the keyboard perhaps still works (I cannot be sure because I am stuck with the reset), I AM STUCK because my LCD is not touch screen anymore. 5. is this a symptom of a broken LCD, because Im telling you there is still a display. Its just that the LCD is not touch screen anymore. How am I going to fix my XDA? is it a broken LCD, or something else, or maybe a lot of things wrong with my fone.

  • when i bought this phone, everyone thught i was crazy here in singapore its a trend to have new phones and i was getting this which was considered "old". but i dun care, this the best damn phone i have used. i have flash the rom to window mobile 5 and have a the latest software running including igo navigator. the screen i s big enough for internet browsing and just to glance at important messages. while i having a great time with this phone others were complaining about their "newer" phone problems. google about this phone to find out more about this phone than u realise its potential.

  • i got this pocket pc for almost 3yrs now, and it still works great! i install games, mod applications and play sounds/videos on it. this is a great pda phone. so if there i hear something wrong on their xda IIs, i8s with the user, not the gadget! i wanna keep this for the longest time, coz until now, not even left behind.

  • You're all a bunch of whining noobs. This is an excellent phone whether you use it for internet, phoning, WI-FI...whatever. Setting ringtones takes 5 seconds through Active Sync or an SD card. Make sure you have the latest patch installed from the O2 website, it will fix a lot of issues that some of you are complaining about. Use O2Connect, it will allow you to install the latest ROM, loads of useful applications (e.g. a dial wizard for speed & voice dialing, a program to track usage if you use GRPS etc.), cool themes, screen customizing etc. I've had mine for 2 years and am thinking of upgrading though the large screen helps with internet and document browsing. Will have to see what O2 / I-mate comes up with next. I believe a new range is being released in October. Bottom-line, learn to use the phone before you deliver a verdict! Peace out.

  • Jazz me

  • Thi unit makes my everyday life turns bad......heres same problems: 1. Run out of power and you lose everything! 2. Turn on B.Tooth or especially WLAN and just watch the battery go down! 3. The screen drains the battery too! 4. There is a bug where sometimes a receiver can't hear what your saying when you call them. 5. Everything you do involves 2 hands, (watch out for lamp posts) 6. As a phone it is shite, it's too much like hard work calling somebody, especially when the contact isn't in the SpeedDial list. 7. The keyboard is too small to be useful, but I did expect this. (it was useless on the P910i too) 8. The camera exists but doesn't have any practical purpose. 9. Why can't I use sounds sent to me as a ringtone, it really pisses me off! 10 Does not sync well at all with my wireless handsfree kit.

  • I own a O2 XDA IIs. I am very much satisfied and proud of owning it. I have been using it for the past two years. The body of the phone is damaged, I want to replace the body, I tried a lot of Local vendors. Now that I am in the Kingdom of Bahrain, I asked the local dealer, they said they can do nothing about it. Please help me to find a source to replace the body of my prestigious O2 XDA IIs. Thanks

  • hey arsists if file explorer is not showing in menu just remove battery for about 10-15 minutes and then whenu will on ur pda it will restart as a new one then u will find fx there in ur menu

  • Try a soft reset on this by putting your stylus in the reset pin hole on the bottom of the phone, this will not delete any data, if this does not work perform a hard reset which will delete all data, usually by holding down the two soft keys and then press the reset.

  • verry nice phone + pda. speed also very good.

What i do whenever i want to get a mp3 ringtone is i use th CDEx software which converts it to WAV file. Make sure u burn the mp3 file into a CD so u can use the CDEx software. Then sychronize the converted WAV file to ur Xda and have fun in ur new ringtone. unfortunately, u cant add or modify a tone for messaging. feel free to email me for suggestions and questions

  • I have had this phone for about a year now and wow...it's amazing. It's still working just as great as the day I bought it. However...the only flaw with it...is the slide down feature that reveals the keyboard...that feature really needs to be improved. I have since moved up to an O2 Exec.........which is beyond wonderful. But the O2 XDA II's is a great back up. Great phone. I especially love back up feature on the XDA II's whereas the O2 Exec does not have that feature...kinda sucks...but oh well. How kewl is the O2 Exec huh?! And it works great. I'm sooooooo lucky.

  • i am using this thing for about 5 months. i bought it second hand. the main display is getting reddish day by day, sometimes the backlight of keyboard turns off and it stops working. one more thing is, the screen sometimes shows nothing but all white!! and when it drops from my hand, it formats itself :( sometimes after i finish a call, the cell gets formatted, if u dont have a backup, all the info, contact n sms is gone.... • Hello.I use O2 IIs a week ago but i want to change OS from windows 2003 to 2005 but i want to know some problem about it and i want to know about advantage.Thank you!!!!

  • I know this is a lot late from everyone, but I will never purchase an O2 device ever again. The drop outs, the reset, the interface, the bluetooth, the hard reset, the power plug, quite frankly I can't find anything I like - well except for the size of the screen. My recomendation , never ever buy one of these.

  • Hi guys.. Can anyone suggest which software to put for hide SMS when receiving text message?Thank you in advance...

  • can we access web sites like orkut and messangers? can v

  • Well.. I bought mines a year ago. I had problems just as the posts I've read. But since I paid big bucks for the pda. I learn the secret to get along with it. The SECRET is management. Now.. the guy (Speedx3) has a list of problem that I did face. So I want to help. But here is some answers 1. (Management is the key).. buy a sd card put your info on it instead of the memory on the pda also sync daily if your is important 2. You are right about the bluetooth and wlan. I know you will like to use the bluetooth for your headset. but if your charge your pda while driving it will restore the power. Now for the wlan, depends on what your doing. 3. Screen drains.. ummh... yes .... while if on it a lot it will drain but that is any pda or phone.. most cell phone has 2 hour TALK TIME and a long standby time. It goes back to management. 4. Well, well, well, the receiver can't hear your voice.. man let me tell you my history problem on this, but I won't.. Let me give you a some what answer(which mean -this may help) the mic for the pda is at the bottom left of the phone, where the reset hole is at. So it is best(may sound crazy) to talk on your left ear. I will answer the rest but I have to go. I will be back.

  • Hey people.... anyone have idea how to change sms tone and how to make the phone vibrate on receving an sms..

  • Hi Fellas does any one know where i could buy a replacment screen for an O2 XDA IIs or if a screen from An O2 XDA would be useable

  • Hi there!!! I want to buy a new phone, but i don't know more about 02. So i need you to tell clearlly. I hope that you could help me to choose between 02 Xda2s,O2 Mini and Xda Neo..???, Which one faster than and have a good to use.

  • hi! I want to know about speed of 02 XDa IIs and 02 mini, which one fast than.

  • God I hate this phone!!! I got it when I broke my S.E P910i (great phone incidently) and was forced to claim. Unfortunately the P910i isn't made anymore. As a PDA it's not bad, there are many functions available and it doesn't matter how bad my handwritting is, it will recognise it although apostrophies are a problem. Now the bad news :- 1. On the plus side ;- 1. Syncs well with Outlook. 2. Makes it easy to move contacts from one machine to another from outlook. 3. Email works well. Overall I have to give this a very low mark because it is first and formost a phone and it is not easy to use.

  • Very nice phone. I have been using mine since February 2005. A bit of an issue though is the stylus which keeps falling off from its slot after a while. I've lost one already and decided to put a piece of tape around my current stylus so it won't fall off.

  • Users might be experiencing technical problems. Well, neither human nor gadgets are perfect! That's why we'll see new gadgets every other week/month/year. If not, inventors won't have jobs and manufacturers couldn't expand the business. Come on, guys! It's a 'give and take' situation. It's a matter of choosing the right gadget suits you. You wouldn't find a perfect gadget that could last long (without repair-that's why manufacturers offer a guarantee or after sales service) and always up-to-date.

  • i do like to have a O2 phone..Can anybody send me price list for all O2 pda phones in SGD...Thanks

  • Had a O2 XDA IIs since last december. It is simply a great phone. Those who read the reviews and comments saying this phone is unstable..or not good enough ..let me say this IT Is all Rubbish. It is not more unstable than a windows OS which many of us use use in our daily lives.I will agree to a point that this phone is not for users who only need a mobile phone. This being s PDA/phone is more designed towards advanced user.Simply magnificent phone with lots of software available.A must have for all u techno freaks..and not forgetting the real needy ones ... this IS the phone for u..dont belive me ? go buy one..also if anyone posting here encounters any problems regarding this phone ..please fill free to mail me..I will help as much as I can

  • i have had my xda IIs since december, i had to send the first one back because i could hear people but they couldn't hear me. i have to reset it about once per month, and when i answer the phone it hangs up about one third of the time. i'm less than impressed and am waiting for my contract to be up.

  • hi i have xda lls i have proble, in my xda alls problem is this my screen not align so how can i align the screen, please send me this problem solution thanks

  • how can i get skin chooser and how to work it.... thz...

  • Hi there, You hard reset the IIs by holding the soft reset pin in with your stylus and also simultaneously holding the power button (screen on/off button). The cost of the IIs varies, if ur buying on contract then it depends on what contract you go for. I do not recommend sim free as the only way to get this is through the internet as no shop sells sim free/pay as you go IIs's. This means that you can never speak to anyone in person if, and when, it goes wrong. It means neverending e-mails and hassle. Hvae a look on the O2 website. They have som excellent deals. Hope this helps.

  • How can i herd reset my O2 Xda IIs ?

  • Hi there again, i was just wondering if anyone had encountered problems with their GPRS after upgrading to the new ROM for this XDA. every time i try to download a picture message, go on the internet or anything, it tells me i have to do a 'Network Log On' to a resource called 'Mobile Web' and the user name is 'O2web' and it wants a password and domain from me. any ideas from anyone? also, i have a wi-fi connection at home and it tells me that i have a strong connection, however, everytime i try to surf the net, it want this password again. Even if i did get this password would this cost me GPRS money for using my home wi-fi connection? how is that right? any help would be kindly appreciated.

  • Most PDA's do play MP3's. A good site to go on to compare is it compares up to 5 PDA/Smaartphone/mobile Phone/windows mobile devices against each other. It helped me choosing a phone before i bought my XDA IIs. Hope this helps

  • can any xda set play MP3 reply or help me plz

  • Is there a phone out there like this one that has a flash? I know there's this one and then one from Qtek too but is there one with a flash for GSM Carriers?

  • Throw away this phone. Just sold it off and lost Sgd900/-. Reception is very poor. Lots of eacho behind. Always hangs and have to reset the phone everyday, otherwise, the first caller always cannot hear my voice. Buy it and you will be sorry!

  • Hi again, I found a few great pieces of software for the IIs; NoviiMedia remote control - you can turn the xda into a universal remote control, 10 day trial period, 20 to buy best version 10 for a slightly older version - it works brilliantly and so easy to set up. I can control my hi-fi, tv, vcr, iPod speakers, dvd player and anything that i own with an infra-red remote control. You can even customize the look of the control! ThemeGenerator: You can use it on the phone or the PC, I choose to not have it on the xda as it is a hefty file, but you can take your fav pictures, turn them into desktops for the phone, but also change the colours of the text on the today screen, the navigation bar colour, command bar colour, alert bar colour etc - really simple software I also downloaded SuDoku for the xda, othello, and a couple of other free games. My advice to anyone is to go onto www.download.com and searcg 'pocket pc' in software, then you get hundreds of cool ideas. This is my second pocket pc, and it is a million times better than my last one. Seeing as i have it perfectly tuned now, does anybody have any proper advice on conducting backups??? Its just that I would hate to lose all this data. Just mentioning the 'crashing' problem with the xda's - i tried switching to corporate, but that deletes things like the battery icon which i like, so i upgraded the ROM of my device - its really simple - you can get from the O2 website. My deviced hasn't crashed since and I hacen't had to soft reset for weeks. Thanks

  • very very gd phone. use it for wifi etc. 1 prob though. i cant get the mpeg4's i have downloaded to play on the xda. if anyone can help then please e-mail me.

  • i had been very frustrated eversince i bought the XDA IIS last year. The phone keep giving me continous problems and costing me lots of money to get it repaired. I wish 02 can refund me. i am extremely dissappointed with this product.

  • Hi, i encounter a problem for such a long time.. someone did send me MMS and the setting for MMS is already set... but the problem is.. its normal for the MMS to take a long time to download ? and usually how long ? as i been trying to download for almost 10 min and i have click the button to save it in external memory but still i cant see anything.. pls advise

  • hey guys im gonna buy this cell but i just wanted to know wether i can inser an momory card in it....and wether it has an fm radio in it...other wise this cell is out of the world....plzzz let me know it is very very important...thank u ... and the other features of the cell are also great

  • Clive, I had a similar problem, I downloaded a program called 'screen lock'. It works brilliantly. Basically, it locks everything, and to unlock it you have to hold the calendar button (top right-hand corner) and the messaging button (second from the left of the four hot keys) simultaneously. It works really well, and I put it into the folder windows>startmenu so that it takes 2 touches to activate. I highly recomend. Oh, and anothjer plus is that you can still answer calls and hang up etc. Hope this helps

  • Every time I put my xda2s in a case it sems to switch itself on !! can I disable the 3 buttons at the bottom?....its getting to be a real pain, put it in the case leave it a few moments and low and behold its on again!!!...any ideas please ?. Many thanks Clive

  • I purchased IIs last year its agreat , but sometimes it hangs and when i change sim card then it re set all software that i download removed.

  • i installed the new rom on my phone and then it hanged at 9%. now i am stuck and cannot go back to old rom. device says USB 2.7 version. but i am unable to do anything. any advise on how do I fix this issue. It has error 101 connection problem. even thought usb cable is directly connected. please help!!

  • i think this phone is not bad at all. i purchase it a few weeks ago. it does hang a it sometimes. i flash the hp to rom 1.40.00 it seem a bit slower now then but not really that bad. i install some software and it works like a charm. watching video or listening to music is a blast. the screen is big enough to display the whole MTV clip..Anyway i would like to add some chinese software inside so i can read/view/write chinese, but i don't where to look for it, please anyone out there help me out. i really appreciate it. i am using 1gb DNA dv rs-mmc, it is blinding fast. Thank you... god bless all of you..

  • I purchased my lls in November 05 and on the whole am very happy with it. But recently it is dropping the 'backlight brightness' (on battery only) to minimum, at random. Requiring a trip to a dark room to adjust back up. Another trick is on receiving an incoming call the caller cannot be heard, rings again & again, requiring a soft reset to solve. Anyone else with same problems. Ver. 1.40.00(923WWE) Cheers Chris (Sydney)

  • Had this XDA for nearly a year now. Initially, it used to hang a few times a day. Then i deleted the "Connections" executable and was more stable but still seemed to hang more often than i would expect from a Microsoft device. When i upgraded to the latest ROM, i decided to change to Corporate mode. This has stabilised my device immensely and i have had no problems since. Of course, a soft reset around twice a week still needs to be done to get rid of little errors but the device as a whole does not hang any longer. I have TomTom Navigator installed and travelled 500 miles last weekend without a glitch. My advice: Only get one if you know what you are doing. This device is not for amateurs.

  • Hi there, I got this phone about 3 days ago and I have been reading all the problems about it. I see that the main problem seems to be the freezing of the phone, which can easily be fixed by going into the file: My Device ? Windows > Startup, and deleting the 77B sized file called 'Connections' which removes the 'O2' icon from the screen which slows up the device. I did this on the first day and I noticed that it also removed the battery meter from my main display screen. I love this meter as it is so useful, so I decided to download the latest ROM upgrade from the website. This then put the O2 icon back onto the screen and also the battery meter. Tjis upgrade is said to sort out all the freezing problems. I have not yet had any problems, however have not been using it under any heavy use. One bad problem is that before I upgraded this software, I had a stable internet conection via the Wi-Fi through my home network. However, every time I try to connect to the network it always turns on the GPRS (mobile) and GPRS (O2 actice) settings, but fails to allow me to browse successfully. Has anyone sorted out this problem and do they know how to fix it. I am not a fan of performing hard resets, as I have changed alot of settings to my phone that I really do not want to change back. I know that you can select the 'corporate' option after perfoming a hard reset, which also removes the O2 icon from the screen. Does anyone know if setting the phone to corporate mode removes the battery meter from the screen??? For everyone who is having problems with their MP3 ringtone settings, download 'Smart Audio Converter'. This program converts MP3 settings to WAV(PCM) files, which is accepted as the ringtone for the phone. The trial version only converts 60% of the original MP3 file, but how long do you want to take to answer your calls, if the average song is about 3 minutes long, then thats still around 1 minute 40 seconds of ringtone, which I find to be more than enough. After you have converted your music, connect your device using ActiveSync and put these converted files into: My Device > Windows > Rings (You can only fit around 3 songs, but you only need 1 ringtone at a time, so it's fine for this). I had an Eten M500 PDA before the O2 XDA IIs, and it was an excellent phone, but as it is such a non-known phone, I could not set up any MMS settings and there were problems with the software. It is currently still in repair. Even after 3 days, my O2 XDA IIs is definately 100% better than the Eten. For all those who are querying buying the IIs, I highly recoment this. I read pretty much every comment in this forum before buying my phone, and I found that the main problems with this phone was the freezing. People who commented saying things like "worst phone ever" and "biggest pile of junk" etc, obviously had not tried deleting the 'connections' file or upgrading the software. The camera is only a VGA, but it is definately good enough for photo contacts. I have not experienced any problems with bluetooth as yet, so maybe it is a faulty batch or something. Along with any advice for my GPRS problems, does anyone have any advice for any really good downloadable software (preferably free of charge) for the O2 XDA IIs, that really makes a difference (things like the battery meter, Pocket PC games etc). I would love to find somewhere that I can download games free of charge, but I have not had alot of experience with this area of the phone yet, and don't know how available this is. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

  • Looks good but had to get rid of it after a week due to the power hungry battery

  • Having used this PDA for quite a while for work I have found it to be both stable and reliable. Their is a must list that has kept me from having the same troubles some of the others have had. 1 Active Sync is there for a reason - you should use it at all times or you should expect trouble. 2 The bluetooth headsets that sooo many of the others have been upset about should be returned (my retailer actually gave me a few to choose from free-of-charge) and replaced with one that developes a more solid sync. (call your voicemail and stay on line for 2-3mins to check stability. 3. If the unit is faulty, replace it with a product of equal or superior quality. Know your consumer rights. If the product is so bad and everybody returns it, it will make them think twice before inflicting us with rubbish. Oh on a personal note mine is super, i have already sold the upgrade and kept the IIs

  • UPDATE TO last weeks "PETER" comment re PARROT CONNECTIVITY from an XDAIIs Although not described in the Parrot instruction book - their web-site tells you that you have to tell the Parrot that it is talking to a WINDOWS DEVICE - once you do that - it connects effortlessly!!!

  • Used it for only 2 months... Touch Screen Problems, always misalign and the F and G keys are difficult to depress. Service Centre in Malaysia is pretty good, 2 days replacement for a new touch screen! While at the Service Centre, there were so many O2 IIs coming in for repairs, its shocking!!!

  • Hi all! Just 8 weeks to go before I get the great pleaseure to put this "phone(y)" in the blender! As mentioned before this phone has issues...it pretends to be the perfect out of office assistance but fails dismaly with its poor performance. On a lighter note I did recently upgrade the ROM on the phone and this has made it a lot more stable. Blue tooth works more reliably and you get the new media player 10 too. But, the GPRS connection has gone walkies. My advice, if you are one of the many experiencing problems, as mentioned before in this thread, please find the ROM upgrade from your phone provider and install it (please check with them first for warranty purposes); tryt to run it natively...not additional software like Tom Tom; backup, backup, backup; and chnage the phone when your contract runs out!

  • Having removed the O2 logo (which caused the device to "freeze" I have fond the Xda IIs a very good device. I have one problem however and I hope someone has the solution. I have purchased a "PARROT" bluetooth hands free unit for the car BUR my XdaIIs refuses to "auto-connect" - instead I have to go to Programs/Bluetooth Manager/click on the hands-free connection to Parrot/select "connect" - and then wait: It usually takes between 2 and 8 attempts before a succesful connection is achieved. My car-installer says it is my "phone's fault" - has anyone had a similar problem and has anyone found a solution please

  • You cant use MP3 as a ringtone. You will havta convert it either to wav. or midi. There is loads of software floating around the web. Look for MP3 to wav converter or something. Im currently using samsungs music converter that came with the phone. If you need anymore help, Ill be glad to help! Semper Fi, Jeff

  • For those who have visited this site and are frequent vistors. We all need rigorous training to know the prowess of this XDA IIs. As for myself, I request any of you proffesionals to help me load MP3 file as my ring tone as it only takes wav files as ring tones and not MP3. I tried copying and pasting MP3 ring tones in the RINGS folder of the WINDOW folder. Is it due to tbig size of MP3 file that an MP3 file is not accepted as ring tone or is there any good method to take MP3 files as ring tones. Please Assist. I hope O2 is listening.

  • I have the O2 XDA IIs. The phone is quite functional. I've read other users complain about the device not performing properly, but perhaps they simply are not familiar with a pda/phone device. I use the device for my: Blackberry (via blackberry connect) Phone Browser (via wi-fi w/ personal hi speed network) wireless modem (via usb cable not bluetooth) Gps (via Gps 10 from Garmin) Pocket Nintendo Pocket Bible (via quickverse) MP3 player (via motorola HT820 bluetooth headphones) Pocket Dictionary (via lextionary) Camera (for work) The only negatives i can mention about the device are: the 2.5 mm headset jack sometimes the phone needs to be reset in order to turn on the wi-fi sometimes the phone needs to be reset in order to read the 1gb SD card Bluetooth on the handsfree profile has static This phone in short is awesome. It is the best pda/phone i have encountered. It blows the HP (6300 & 6500) and the treo 700 away. It's more reliable and has more features. there is also a forum out there just devoted to upgrading this phone (WIKI) so in short on a scale of 1 to 10 i rate this a 9 only because of the negatives i mentioned. -User from NYC

  • I have had an XDA iis for about a year - I can;t wait to get rid of the damn thing! I use it for GPS - crashes without fail on every journey. Crashes when someone rings me. Crashes if you look at it funny. My advice is do not buy one - I have been ridiculed beyoned belief when in the car on holiday or going to meetings with colleagues and it crashes just when you need to know where to go next the most! RUBBISH.

  • hate it have gone back to a sharp blue tooth phone and every call is easy again.

  • Hi, please I need help with my new O2 XDA IIs, is my second day using it and I CAN'T turn it off, when I push the ON/OFF button, the PDA stays on the phone mode, but I could't turn it off at all... I just pull out the battery to do that... CAN SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!!!???.... THANKS!

  • I've got an O2 XDAIIs, and really wish I hadn't. I wanted a PDA for work and had a choice, do I go for a PDA with built-in GPS and have a separate work phone cluttering up the dashboard, or a PDA/phone and add a Bluetooth GPS pack on later? Having a phone that will sync with my work PC, including all my contacts from outlook, and allow me to call them on the move SEEMED like a good idea, but it's actually been nothing but trouble. The loss of sound during a call, the backlight having a mind of its own, full reset if I tried to change the battery, Ive had it all. And then I tried adding Tom Tom Navigator 5, and all hell broke loose! When running this the XDA was either dead slow or just plain dead. I sent it back to O2 three times before they finally acknowledged that it was a duff unit and replaced it. Seems to be ok now, but heres my advice: you want a business phone, get a phone. You want a PDA for GPS purposes, get a dedicated one of those. For the money Ive spent on this thing so far I could have had a Garmin M5 for navigation, and used the separate SPV C500 that was on offer from work.

  • I bought one recently. The sound from the ear piece keeps muting repeatedly. I can make and receive phone calls but cannot hear the voice on the other end. Costing extra in phone calls because the connection is being established but no communication.I have to reset it frequently, then it works for a while. Very frustrating due to the unpredictabiity of the problem, it would freeze any moment requiring restting.Battery operating time is not ideal.Goes flat very quickly. Poor product support.Web site has no contact phone numbers in australia.I suggest people looking for PC phone to consider alternative brand.

  • I've had my xdaIIs for 3 months now and I really enjoyed using it for the first 2 months only since all my downloaded software suddenly "disappeared" from my program list just when the e-book i was reading was so exciting already. my problem now is that i can't open the same software again after downloading it. can anyone help me? the O2 customer service is very slow in responding to my query. thanks...

  • This phone is the worst piece of garbage ever foisted on us by money hungry shysters rushing products to market before they actually work. It crashes repeatedly and even hard resets itself while in your pocket loosing EVERYTHIN yes folks Microsoft have actually created an OS which HAS TO HAVE BATTERY POWER or EVERYTHING GOES (the memory is VOLATILE - if you loose power you loose EVERYTHING - Nice work Bill and co. How is it Nokia and SYmbian realise the cell phone batteries die while you are out and about and the last thing you want is to have to run home in anguish in case you loose all your data. This phone REALLY REALLY SUCKS. I have run TOMTOM on it and the fragility of it is truly jaw droppingly bad. For a while it was crashing 4 or 5 times on a 3 hour journey and actually went down on me and did a hard reset when I was lost in Central London in the rush hour. THIS PHONE IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE DONT BUY IT. Everyone I know who has one HATES it I fail to understand how it gets glowing reports from anyone. I think they must work for the company. Ive had a really really bad year with this phone and would really strongly recommend that you DONT BUY IT. In fact its SO BAD i intend to kill it in the garden with a silver nail knocked through its silicon heart and then bury it as I wouldnt even GIVE it to someone as its THE MOST PAINFUL PHONE TO LIVE WITH I HAVE EVER HAD. Which is a great shame as its NEARLY ok Typical Windows rubbish really STEER WELL CLEAR PLEASE!!!

  • I purchased the xda mini about 2 weeks ago. I think this phone is the best phone iv ever had! But iv nether had a pda before. There are loads of things you can do with this phone took me a while to get the hang of it though. in fact i am still getting the hang of it. In the past week i found LOADS of great software for it!Easy to install too. Just at first i didnt realise ya had to use active sync. I just tryed copying the files accross and opening them on the pda. obously it didnt work! I think iv had to hard reset about 4 times now. Mainly because i deleted things i shouldnt of have or because of rubish software that wouldnt uninstall properly. I have found it does hang sometimes and does completly crash even the on/off button wouldnt work. just removed the battery. One thing that annoyed me was i found that if i wanted a picture as my background when i opened the keyboard the picture disapeared and wouldnt come back! Best thing you can do is remove all the 02 software visit this website for a guide on how to do this its so much faster and stable once it is removed. It also solved my problem with having a picture as a background. Overall i would recommend this phone. I give the phone 9 out of 10 as for the o2 software -1 out of 10! oh yea i got tomtom on it too and it looks coo,l just havnt been able to use it yet as i am still waiting for my gps reciever.

  • hie there i have been trying to look for a way to add a ringtone that has been beamed from another phone or sent via bluetooth. and also i would like the setting for, how to send picture messages and connect to WIFI.... please help thank u.

  • I purchased this IIs a month ago, everything is great. I ran in a little problem, I yet to find a perfect working bluetooth headset for this PDA. I've tried over 10 different models from different brand and all I get is static on call when i put the phone on my lap or have it on my belt. Any Suggestion? thanks in advance.

  • Hi I'm having O2 Xda 11s Pocket PC. I couldn't able to view wmv, Avi and Mpeg files in my pocket PC. Can any one having related software to serve the purpose. If you have any other good softwares please post me. Would you be so appreciate if you respond my request. Thank you for your time and consideration. I truly look forward to hearing from you. Should you have any questions require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you, Regards, Dr.Prabhakar G.L.V.

  • KC - phone is still running like a dream. Does everything really well. No problems from this side. Also - please don't SHOUT!

  • The XDAiis on the face of it is a very nice proposition. However, only 9 months having took delivery of the phone, I was left with little more than a piece of messy plastic and metal in my hands. The metal case is very easy to scratch and dent (marks very easily if dropped and I as amazed to find it even suffered a nasty dent when I dropped it on the office carpet!), the stylus only fitted the holder tightly for the first week - then it started rattling around and went missing very easily, the quality of the phone is shocking. People would keep saying your fading, as the microphone would fade in and out and the speaker would often crackle - loud speaker was also as good as useless when you were driving, and finally and prossibly the most annoying it had a terrible tendency to hang and drag when you interchanged between programmes. My first of three XDAiis also suffered from dropping bluetooth devices as and when it choose to, but this glitch was ironed out with later models. On the positive side, you don't see school children with these, they are 'kinda' exclusive, the menu's are very easy to navigate, and software is easy to come by with a bit of searching on the net. I have now taken delivery of a new XDA Mini S, and the difference is overwhelming (read my review in the XDA Mini S section for more details). If you are new to the XDA market, go with the later models.

  • It would be appreciate if someone can tell me how to download chinese version for my O2 lls. Thanks a lot.

  • I got the T-mobile(Germany) version of this phone, the MDA III. It looks pretty good but overall, I got almost all the problems written in the opinion board. Such a pity. This phone have the looks and performance, but with all due respect the manufacturer really2 have to improve the reliability or else they're going to loose their market to those smart phone with better reliability such as the Sony Ericsson P910i or Nokia Communicator.

  • Thomas, dont be so judgemental...read the POSTS! YOU WILL GET ISSUES WITH YOUR PHONE. IT WILL HANG MORE AND MORE... AND IT WILL DO THINGS THAT WILL TOTALLY INCONVENIENCE YOU...just give t time :) My best advice to anyone who gets this phones....keep it simple...geta BIG SD card and use it for your data. GET A GOOD Backup utility (You will need it)...and dont over stress the phoen by laoding loads of Applications it really hates that...and hangs! This is a great CONCEPT phone...but should not be used for business.

  • Since I have completed the ROM upgrade (Australian version Jul 2005. My xdaiis will not connect to any wifi network. Anyone have any ideas?

  • This is an excellent device. It's not without flaws, but then the perfect phone does not exist yet in my opinion. There are some very ill-informed opinions on this site about this phone. Yes, you can add attachments to emails - it's a complete no brainer. No, it doesn't hang all the time. I've only had to reboot once. If you have an ounce of patience and common sense and want a good all round PDA/Windows Smartphone then get this. It does everything I want it to do and then some.

  • The time display is missing from my navigation bar - anyone know how to get it to appear? [email protected]

  • Hi Guys , I have bought XDA II S recently but I am disappointed that as the previous models this phone does not offer the file attachment option with emails. Moreover , you can not save photos in your folders !! I heard with amazement through a friend that Nokia 7710 offers file attachment option with emails! If someone have some tips to offer ,pls help!!!

  • My XDAIIs has been back 4 times due to dodgy speakers. Oh, plus two others that I broke when I sat on one and got the other wet (very wet - fizzle!) Then I had a free upgrade to compensate. Upgraded to an XDA Exec. Fantastic bit of kit and then; Today my XDA Exec locked up. I thinks it's terminaly ill! O2 have offered me a new replacement in 3 to 5 days. Not happy - use phone for business!

  • Great bit of kit but o2 software makes it slow and with o2 software on you cant turn of the phone properly. To remove the o2 software press reset and power then when its about to install the software after configuring the basic settings pull out the battery next time you turn it on it will only have the proper windows software on and it works really fast and I havnt had any problems for 4 months now.

  • I have the Orange version of this phone. It's calld the SPV M2000. Great concept...poor execution. When I first got this phone it worked well...for a while. Then it started to freeze up...sometimes the phone would ring and when you touched the screen or the answer button nothing would happen!!! The freezing happens a lot...If you call a number, which happens to be engaged, the phone simply informs you "busy" and hangs up...WTF? What happened to auto redial? I have a 1GB SD card in this phone...I run TOMTOM Nav 5 on it and (for peace of mind) Sprite Backup....believe me you WILL need this software if you value your data! I occasionally perform VPN coonections on via WiFi or GPRS and use the camera. All the above work...but NOT consistantly...I usaually have to soft reset this phone at least once a day...rediculous! The battery life is laughable...luckly I keep it charged up in the car but still need two batteries to get me though a busy day. This is the fourth phone that I have had from Orange...the last three all had various problems like the speaker stopped working...the phone would HARD reset on a full battery...the mic stopped working...etc. I'm an IT Consultant and I find this phone a bit of handful at the best of times. It's big and heavy and you need clown pockets if you hate using the provided belt clip. I would not reccomend this phone to anyone based on my experience using it. I have nearly lost work because of it's poor performance. Be warned. KC

  • Hi guys, i think the xda lls is a great phone, i now have my eyes on the exec can anyone tell me is it a better phone to buy.

  • Hi.. I jus got the o2 xda around a month back.. I was wondering if any of u have used the IM+ on the o2.. if so could u tell me..where i could get it along with the crack..?... Thanks..

  • XDA 2 is good but I think the Exec better than XDA 2 and Exec is too big

  • Nope, I dont think u can use com port to connect to the projector. But u can connect to the projector throught the bluetooth receiver.

  • can i use O2 XDA IIS to connect with projector (use com port)? Thanks!

  • its a great phone but i hate the rom updates some times hard to do and when you install it might become dead but on the other hand its a ok mobile pocket computer but now its out of date replaced by the exec i think

  • If u can tell me what u want to do with the phone, i can tell u the software u need to install

  • There are so many software that u use with this phone. It is just the matter of what kind of software u need. U can not install all of them because it gonna slow down ur phone. U can install UPS software and buy bluetooth receiver. The phone will act as a street directory. It can talk and show u all the speed camera and red light camera. Pocket earth is one of the good software. It tells u the weather and many thing. MS money for pocket PC for business men on a go. Financial Planner software. Cash organiser. many many more. Just think this way. It is a mini laptop. Whatever software compatible with computer. there should be some for this Pocket PC.

  • Hi Everyone, Bought this phone just 2 months back after disposing off my Qtek 1010, i would say this is much better than my previous phone rather this the best phone i have ever used.Great features, awesome performance what else can you expect from a PDA. Got different softwares that adds to performance of the phone Can anyone plz help me with just the name of different applications & softwares that can be installed in this phone????

  • Mo, Thanks for the comment however I have friends with the same xda as mine and all 3 of us have the same problem that the phone doesnt turn on with a tap after its gone down for 40 seconds or so. Before that it does when you tap the screen, and your suggestion re settings makes no difference. As for the functionality as you describe them, sure no problem there, but as per your own comment, why did O2 put all that functionality into a phone knowing the processor and RAM were inadequate. Shutting down running applications is a normal thing to do sure, but it doesnt help the how slow the phone takes to function. I have read in this same site criticisms about the Executive model that are no different to mine about how slow the processor is and this is a new model with larger RAM and faster processor. As I said after updating the OS it didnt make a difference, my other buddies with the phone after I showed them your comment are of the same opinion, have you used one for as long as we have, i.e. since release? Anyway now I have a Nokia N90 and use the OS as a pure PDA, unfortunately meaning I am back to 2 pieces of equipment which I paid a lot of money for the O2 to get away from. Yes my fault I shouldnt have believed the advertising.

  • hey I would like to buy a xda latest pda for my teenage son, would any one take your precious time to suggest me how good the phone is comparing to other pda's. I will appreciate your valuble suggestions. Happy new year

  • need anybody's advice on steps to take to preserve my data from an hp jornado pda and load on to a new xda 2s unit.

  • When the XDA IIs first came out, it was said that it will have Blackberry connectivity by early 2005. Is this available already? Its already end of 2005.

  • Help: From where can i download "DVD to Pocket PC" free ? anysite ?

  • Ok guys, Where shall we start.... Dan - hold down the green telephone button to activate the speakerfone. Try updating the Radio stack from the XDA / O2 website to improve the reception.. otherwise its probably down to your service provider ot increase the signal. Sergie - dont worry about 2005. Its a standalone product. Forget about it as it wont run on the handset... ony XDA executive and some other top end-stuff. In my humble opinion, it's just a way for Microsoft to screw ppl for extra money. Scorpion - you need to speak to your mobile phone service provider for the specific settings (eg. O2) Try the XDA website for FAQs Joe - have a look on eBay, proporta.com, or pdahut.com. The Piel Frama case is the Don but very pricey otherwise there are stacks of choices. Either aluminium/metal case, clear case, leather or flip leather. Russ - I have no problems with bluetooth and i've not used puppetmaster... sorry dude Airpirate - sorry don't know Ton - yes a 2GB card should work. Its a (pocket) pc not a fone. Olive - the software is too old Caz - way to techie for me babe.. sorry

  • Hi all, can anyone advise how I can connect to the internet wirelessly (by a Wi-Fi network card) on my mini Xda II? I have wireless network and a Wireless LAN card inserted in my pocket PC. It seems to have connected to the internet looking at Settings > Connections > Network Cards, but I'm not able to browse the web successfully. Any suggestions would be reall helpful.

  • Hello everybody Trying to download the Flash player for pocket PC on my IIs but when trying to run the exe file, it mentions "non pocket pc file" Any ideas?

  • guys i have a question will a 2GB SD card work on this model?

  • Good phone. Sometimes I can not hear the other person. After a reboot it works fine. Is there another program that is kicking the phone offline? I like the phone but I can not afford to miss calls.

  • Hi, I'm trying to get my XDAiis to say hello to my computer via Bluetooth, and as yet have not had much luck. I want to use puppetmaster to remotely control the screen & applications (as i used to with my K700i). Any comments on this?

  • Excellent Phone.Where i get Flip Cover for this XDA..?

  • Hi, would appreciate if anyone who could tell me how to set up the MMS account since I encounter problem while I download MMS from "My ISP", it is not successful despite numerous trying, thank you!

  • Hey mr. XDA master, my XDA2s now works much better, it runs faster, i love this pocket pc.. thanks to you XDA master. but i want to upgrade my software to 2005.. is it possible?

  • My XDA2S is seven months old and has been back for repair to speaker six times so far Iget it for 3 weeks repair centre one week is this unusual.

  • I have had this phone for over a year now, and reception is extremely poor everywhere and anytime I use it. It does not have EFH or whatever that three letter word is for improved reception. I read someone here said that the loudspeaker function is good. Can you please tell me how I can activate the loud speaker when making a call?? Thx. Dan

  • Sorry Moz, Sounds like you don't know how to use the machine. You can customise the power on / off settings for a start. If you want it to come on with a screen tap then goto Start>Settings>ButtonLock. Sort resets are a normal part of the phone usage. Don't you ever reboot your pc at home? Its no big deal. I agree, its a slight inconvenience having to shut down applications in Start>Settings>Memory>Running Programs.. but so what, 6 taps.. big deal. I have to use task manager on my pc to shut down applications that are hanging every now and then. Its a 'pocket pc' not a nokia, or any other standard mobile phone and its not a 3.2Ghz processor desktop pc! The specs say a 400MHz processor with a 128MB SDRAM. You should have known this when you bought it; sorry to sound heartless but you got exactly what you paid for, no more and no less powerful. "Slow as anything I have experienced" - what other pocket pc do you have that has windows media player, word, powerpoint, excel, plays full length DVD movies, games, full internet access etc etc. The reason I ask is, what have you experienced that is quicker? There are newer better phones out there... if you have one stick to it... what on earth are you complaining about... why didn't you keep the better handets ???!!! Get some sleep, Mo

  • Yo say I am disappointed with the O2IIs would be an understatement. I have had so many problems with this phone, before and after the firmware upgrade. Tap the screen to bring it on, it never works, have to press the on off button just to get the screen to appear. Slow as anything I have experienced, shutting down applications doesnt help, hangs 2-3 times a day requiring reboots. And so on. Damn disappointing and now I read about the Exec it seems no better, it seems software is the problem not the hardware on most O2 phones.

  • As an experiened XDA User... To be honest, I have been using the (original) XDA since it first came out about 4 years ago when I paid around 499 for it connecting with O2. This year I upgraded to an XDA IIs. Other than a very low spec 0.3MP camera (which is relatively poor other than for having a laugh with pics and MPEG4s) the XDA IIs is truly fantastic. I am a busy professional - I co-ordinate my emails at home on MS Outlook (for which you do need a premium email/paying email account which utilises POP3 for a start!). Using the office applications such as MS Word, Powerpoint, PDFs etc are invaluable - there is Bluetooth, IR, or MMC/SD for syncing with your home and work pc/laptop. You comfortably use a 512MB MMC or SD card (or pay the 20 extra for a 1GB Card) which will comfortably hold plenty of Pocket PC games. Better still, use the device as an awesome MP3 player using Windows Media Player which will comfortably rival a 1 or 2GB mini IPOD-type device and is as familair as your home pc. The built in loudspeaker is great when my family and me are on the beach or in the park during the summer months. I have found both the XDA I and IIs invaluable, so much so that I have never found the need to take a fone upgrade with O2. If you like the idea of Blackberry, Bluetooth, MSN Messenger, portable MP3 systems, gaming, true internet access or are simply a busy profesional dashing around town then this does the lot and its a cracking phone to boot. Buy and install Tom Tom navigator and you have an excellent Sat Nav system for your car using the phone's GPS/ GPRS (still to try it!). A fantastic application is "DVD to Pocket PC" - put your favourite DVD in your home pc, the application will convert your DVD (don't infringe copyright laws please!) to a media file that you can transfer to your device or storage card. The best quality is about 200MB but you can use a smaller setting. This means you can now watch full-length, excellent quality movies in the office, car or wherever! To summarise.... YES, it is not small but compare this to carring round some combination of a mobile phone / calculator / Blackberry / IPOD mini. NO, the size is not a problem. Whosoever said small is better is not looking at functionality...size is a fashion trend. Have you tried using the buttons on small mobile phones! Enjoy, Mo

  • Got the orange verson the M2000 I'm very fond of it. It syncs nicely to the PC, there's tons of software available from Microsoft's website and others. I have had it freeze a couple of times but nothing serious and never lost all my data, if you run it with MS outlook and back it up on active sync then you never will. I've got bluetooth GPS for it with MS pocket streets and [streets and trips]. I couldn't get by with an ordinary phone any more. No problems that couldn't have been sorted with software mods. e.g. phone lock when media player is running and it connects too readily to the internet. Otherwise I'm happy with it. Just don't expect it to be just a phone and finding yourself paying for things you won't use.

  • windows then startup and delete "connections." Remove device from cradle and soft reset. You will notice the o2 logo disappear from top of your screen and your device will be alot more stable

  • All you guys having problems with the XDA freezing: Place device in cradle and sync with computer. Then open My Computer and double click Mobile Device (or whatever your XDA is called) My Device

  • xda 2s i`ve had it for a while now and i had problems when i did rom update if you want to stop the freezing do a hard reset then wait for the corperate or personal , select corperate then it will ask for pin num to insert 0506 thats it you will not see 02 on it but a pocket pc with windows and it will never crash again and it quicker i`ve tomtom 5 and the latest pacth so you can also use the screen key pad and not the quircky key board ... have fun ..wayne

  • Mine blew in a fortnight. Screen fried and had to be returned. It's clunky and heavy, and I had the same problems with low volume on outgoing voice and phone hanging. When it works, it's brilliant. But it's a very delicate brick....

  • got another problem. when ever i make a call to someone, my sound is very low to that person. its not the network issue. Setting up gprs is killing me. i am unable to play 3gp videos. not even rm videos. i will have to buy a handsfree for the phone. damn

  • Hi to all., I read your comments about XDA IIs and particulary the downsides made me worry and feared to buy one which I supposed to do within a week. Really such problems occured with this PDA/Phone?.I'm from Germany and here XDA IIs named as XDA III (without camera). I'm in dilemma to buy this phone. So could you please anyone truly suggest me, whether to buy or not?. I'll be grateful to you. You can also mail me. Thanks., Lisa

  • Its got a horrible screen man. i bought this becoz my partner has 7710 and he complaints of it being slow. But this phone comes out to be worse. for no reason it just hangs. i have to reset it. after clicking a picture, if i dial a number, the phone wont respond for 6 seconds. And its screen is pathetic. If you are looking at a black and blue image on the phone, you can see the pixels clearly. On the 7710 i never noticed pixels. Cam is useless at night. I should have waited for something better. I hate my partner, he said 7710 is slow and bad, i think its better than this. All phones are bad. Money wasted.

  • I had this phone and returned it to o2 - It really would not stop locking up I tried 3 of them incase it was an error but it was not. Good PDA poor phone

  • i have noticed that all gadgets have their bad side.I was planning to buy this phone, now im having second thoughts after reading the downside of it.

  • how about the other functions? like office tools? I need to buy the PDA 'coz I need a 'thing' that's lighter and smaller than Notebook. Oh and one more question, is this PDA made in UK/Taiwan/China? 'coz the manufacturer is the same as HTC right? Thanks.

  • i agree! it freezes for no reason! esp when there is an incoming call! HARD RESETS all the time!

  • Due to the posting rules I will have to refrain from foul language and appear as polite as possible when making comments on my recently purchased O2 XDA2s. Therefore I would just like to say that this PDA is one of the most useless pieces of equipment I have ever had. Apart from the fact that I have to reset/boot it on a very regular basis often loosing all my data it is also a useless mobile phone! I would advise you not to get one at any price. An abacus would be far more sensible purchase.

  • This phone is proving almost too difficult to use. In fact I don't think there's a phone in there at all. You certainly can't make a call in a timely manner, it freezes for no reason and I still can't figure out how to save an incoming number! On top of that it's like hanging onto a bar of soap and takes all your concentration no to press keys in error. This looked ideal at the start, but is far from it. Better software that doesn't jam up would help. Hopefully that will happen shortly. Out of 10? I've give it 8/10 on the web/email side of things, but 4/10 as a phone.

  • i need to know if this phone have GPS or not.

  • This has to be worst XDA that I've ever had. Sticking buttons, freezing programs and cr*p performance. Other users have had the same problems. The designers spent far too much time on the keyboard that I never use and not enough on the phone. I never had this much bother with my XDA nor XDAII. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

  • Hi this is one of a kind PDa All in one Packed. I really Wanted to buy this wow Phone and pda in one...maybe by November..pretty cOOl isn't it?

  • Blackberry software is soon to be released on o2 XDA go to the XDA website to download it

  • Am glad to own O2XDA IIs but am encountering memory problems. Got 12000 entries for outlook contact in main memory. Wonder whether we can transfer the contact file from main memory to my 2Gigabyte SD memory card attach. If possible, appreciate your guidance how to go about. Thanks/Rgds tto all

  • Am glad to own O2XDA IIs but am encountering memory problems. Got 12000 entries for outlook in main memory. Wonder whether we can transfer the contact file in my 2 Gigabyte SD memory card attach. If possible, appreciate your kind know how. Thanks/Rgds tto all

  • BLACKBERRY is a separate system, you cannot get blackberry setup on an O2.

  • May I have a confirmation that XDA IIs can run the blackberry ? if yes, how can I get the s/w ? Thanks, Rachmat

  • I want to know that Is this mobile have GPS or not?

  • DONT BUY A XDA2S!!! (Blue angel) I brought mine here in Sunshine Coast here in Australia, and in 1 months i have had the have it repaired three times. The first time was to relpace the cf board, screen and keyboard, next time was to upgrade the software, and then the next and last time was to repair the speaker. I must have been the lucky bunny to recieve the one in a million dud. Does any one know how to increase the ringer volume as i have a hearing disability (One ear) and the tones are very subtle and very hard to hear??. any suggestions.

  • Newbie here from the philippines. Just upgraded my Xda IIs to the new software offered by o2 (eng ver) ROM version: 1.40.00 WME Still experimenting on it now ... hope this cures the "hanging" of our fones. Will post feedbacks. You can download it in seeo2.com Just register. Hope this helps :)

  • I found this post on the xda-dev site referred in a post below on how to make the IIs more stable by removing O2 icon: Posted: Tue Mar 08, 2005 09:46 Subject: How I made my XDA IIs more stable....thanks to Wilesd Reply with quote I saw a post on here about the progs in the windows/startup folder. Someone mentioned that removing the "connections" executable file had made their XDA more stable. It seems to be the exe that places the O2 icon on the task bar at the top of the screen. I tried just that...moved the file out of startup to a temp backup folder and did a soft reset. That was a couple of days ago and I haven't had to reset since Very Happy Previously I was having to reset 3 or 4 times a day just through very light use! Thanks for the suggestion Wilesd Very Happy _________________ XDA IIs ROM: 1.31.00 ROM Date: 13/12/04 Radio Version: 1.06.00 ExtROM: 1.31.139

  • If you want a megapixel cam, buy a digicam. If you want an mp3 player, by an mp3 player. If you want a PDA with built in mobile phone, that plays mp3's, games, sat nav etc etc etc, then get the XDAiiS... nuf said....

  • For those wanting to know how to use MP3 files as your ringtone, here's how: 1. Copy the MP3 file you want to use to the /Windows/Rings directory; 2. Then go to Settings->Sounds&Notifications->Notifications, then select the "Incoming Calls" in the Event drop down menu, and you should see the title of the MP3 song as an option. You can only use MP3 for ringtones, apparently you can't do so for other alerts. Hope this helps!

  • Hello, Regarding: "an earlier link on this forum linked to an xda developers _page.php website which gave details to disconnect the 02 active from it. I followed the instructions and it is working perfectly." Forgive me please, but I cant seem to find where that is said on that website, could you give me a direct link please? Thank you

  • Hi I like my XDA11s very much , however it was on constant freeze up mode. an earlier link on this forum linked to an xda developers website which gave details to disconnect the 02 active from it. I followed the instructions and it is working perfectly. thanks for your help

  • I have just found this software update here: and it says it will do the following: "The latest Xda IIs System Software is available for you to download. New and changed in this version of software, v1.31.139 are: O2 Active v3.6: - An on-screen button to quickly flick between Landscape and Portrait modes - Repositioning of the O2 icon Bluetooth build 3500, featuring improved pairing, compatibility and operation General operational updates, improving power management and device stability This software is for Xda IIs in UK and Ireland. Does this mean that the XDA IIS should not freeze anymore?

  • I was thinking about buying either the O2 XDA 11i or the 11s. Can anybody tell me which is a better buy? From what I have read, the 11i doesnt tend to freeze/hang or lock-up much, but the 11s seems to all the time, is this true? Also, is there anyway to stop/reduce the XDA's from locking-up etc? Thanks

  • This pda/cellphone is an excellent product and meets all the requirements a business/personal user could demand..good stuff..keep it up O2.

  • Hiya All Does anyone know the ins and outs of setting up the fax software included with my XDAIIs? Any help would be great. Cheers Mike

  • Pls, if anybody can advise how to,obatin MP3 software for my XdaII????!!!

  • hi just wondering if there is any good programs to do with the xda mini. ime gettin bored of the same old things and need something else to play with

  • if you have this device and have any problems, you can find anything you need to know at go to the forums, ask if you need anything the o2 azctive software is a known problem, click above website ti fix this,

  • My XDA was freezing every hours(had to do soft reset each time) prior to removing the O2 icon. Now it works great, no more freezes and slow downs. ;)

  • HEy guys, ive been using the xda mini 02 frm quita a long time now, can ny1 tell me how to set an mp3 sound file or a song as a ringtone. n does nybody hv an ANSWERING MACHINE software for the phone, plzzz msg bak on my email. thanks.

  • I didn't see any microsoft activesync in the specifications.. is this features not included?

  • Apart from an inability on my part and the engineers to successfully get the handsfree car kit to work this phone is brilliant. We can search the net; read bank details (other phones get blocked out) download e-mail and send and receive messages. What more do you want.

  • Not a good phone at all.my calls used to get disconnected inbetween the conversation.phone hangs exactly wen you get a call and you press the accept button.Worst of all my camera software just disappeared wen I did a hard reset.so I had to go to the service centre to reloads the software. But it kept on diappearing again and again. So it nine visits to the service centre till now. Major problem was with the screen alignment.so hd to give it to the centre to finally get my screen changed......well they took only a month to return the phone replaced with the new screen.....so all in all DONT BUY THIS PHONE.

  • hey guys, it is evident that people have had problems with the xda 2s, if anyone wants to swop it for a unlocked samsung d500 megapixel camphone contact me asap.regards. Paul

  • It would be appreciate if someone can tell me how to download chinese version for my O2 lls. Thanks a lot. Best regards,

  • I purchased this phone about 18 months ago, it has been a problem from the start, hanging, continuous reseting and a constant worrying about losing data all the time. It has been for repairs and still the problems persist. Desk top charger failed, battery life is too short. In general very disappointing. I am about to give up on any kind of PDA, which is a great pity, as I like to have my contacts and calender with me all the time with the dadded bonus of a phone.

  • well firstly i would say that i agree with most of the flaws which other stated it hangs and act weird at times.. but all in all what do u expect its just a small thing and doing soo manything at the same time even computers and laptop does hang soo its not such a big problem after all its windoze i got it from singapore i am using it for 6 months i had some problems but with time they are just dieing away i dont know of what reason may be because of update even before that update my phone just hanged couple of times in start but its been okay for months now.... pretty good for the size and possiblties which it carry

  • Just got this phone, brilliant piece of kit, granted freezes every now and then but all phones PDAs and computers freeze everynow and then , thats life. This phone has a good "tech" following so most problems have been fixed. try if you have any problems not mentioned here. One of my favourite fixes is on this site but was posted along time ago so i will repeat>>You will find the XDA 2s freezes a lot. To fix this get rid of a uneccessary file> in file explorer/windows/startup/ Delete the single file called "connection." This will remove the O2 symbol from the start menu task bar and decrease the similtaneous network connections that slows the device down and causes it to crash.

  • this phone is definitely GREAT!! it's so charming and cool.. only one drawback.. the camera is not a megapixel one and picture quality is comparable to those of nokia 7250!! darn!!

  • You can try "Monster Chinese", the best Chinese OS for PPC I've used. Please follow the link below: Good luck.

  • buddy out there. I got my first PDA phone but facing problem that i regularly need to use it to read chinese wording. However, I have no idea where and how to get the software and install it. Can someone help me by answering my doubt? thanks in advance

  • how do i set up sat nave on xda11s?

  • Hi I was just wondering whether the Xda IIs gets easily scratched becos i have a nokia 6260 which is obviously made out of extremely bad quality material and it gets big dents and scratches from little things like being in my pocket with coins or something! will the xda IIs give me the same problem

  • Of course, Xda 11s is a fentastic PDA. Only problem is if we install any additional software on it, we need to reset. Other than that it has got all latest features.

  • Does Xdas support linux laptop? at least file transfer via USB sync cable? Review says it does not support MAC.

  • Hi there. Juz to give an insight on XDAIIs as I own 1 myself. The device worked well 4 me 4 about 2 weeks before 1 problem after the other occured, now I've got to reset my device like almost every 3 days as it'll get hanged. As for the scratches mentioned, it really does happen, now I've got nasty looking scratches on both sides of the keyboard & it's really frustrating knowing u spent so much & all this is happening. I'd very much like to recommend those who wants to get a PDAphone to go for other brands in the market that's more stable than less fragile.

  • A good phone. However, the charger/data port on the bottom of the phone is VERY easily damaged. Internal Bluetooth radio also easily damaged if dropped or knocked. If the radio itself is not damaged, it can become "disconnected" and the Windows Pocket PC software will/can not detect it. Software can also freeze regularly.

  • Hiya all. well ive read the good the bad and the damn right ugly reviews on this xda 11s but thought what the hell it looks sexy so i have just ordered one, Can i get sat nav software for this peice of kit as that would be really helpful for me, if anyone has any info or web links please let me know,

  • the O2 mini need add a software to make extra MP3 become ringtone.the software called MP3 ringtone...

  • Hi there, i bought XDA MINI phone and i wonder how to set the ring tone using Mp3 songs that i have downloaded, also the sms alert , can it be changed to a mp3 song too?if any body let me know this please i would be greatful to you thanks

  • I bought my XDA IIs on a business trip in Hong Kong (my country of residence is Greece). It worked for a couple of weeks and then the touchscreen started making problems. I would point on the desired function/program and it would start something else. My problem is that in Greece there is no O2 service. I just waisted some 690 Euro!

  • I agree with the camera comment but only for dull lighted places. Hi all. I have an o2 XDA IIs that i want to swap for another decent mobile. If you are interested the please mail me your offers to [email protected] (Hertfordshire area UK). Thanks.

  • IF you are expecting great image results in the vga camera, then think again, the major failing of the product is the lack of quality. What you see in the preview and what you actually capture are far from the same, if the camera feature was the turning point towards purchasing this product then I would not recommend it. So far I have been told it is a bug, it might be fixed, then it was not fixed, now it is considered as reasonable for the phone ability. Compared to other vga 640 buy 480 digital cameras? I think not. Apart from that it is ok

  • my companion doesnt work at my pc . . . . is there any solution for that problem???? pls help me

  • guys, im goin to swap my 02 mini to IIs is it a good move? does really IIs have problems in allignment? what should i do if i encounter this problem? pls e-mail me. tnx

  • xda IIs is a great phone . I love the colour !!! I've heard that the phone might "hang" ... what's the reason behind this ??

  • i used my o2 XDA IIs for about 2 months n now the touchscreen is problamatic, battery is deat n system is really slow :S

  • i heard that when you use the phone for 2 months the slide keyboard will appear some scratches when u slide up and down the keyboard, is it true then? i saw all of second hand O2 IIs phone got the same problems also.

  • i have an orange spv e200 but the emulators and games (e.g. wolfenstein 3d) play so slow on this is it because of the 133 Mhz processor ? would you need a processor like 400 Mhz to play these games properly and since the os ain't windows smartphone 2003 SE ? so would the xda play them properly since it has 400 Mhz ?

  • to difresore...on the P910a the startdard email program won't get mail (it does connedct and read the amount of emails)but then says problem copying messages...already exists...can you help?

  • AMir is in on Ventura ---are u a better hookup?

  • Can Some one tell me which is better between O2 XDA IIs and O2 XDA IIi? Which is newer between them?

  • Hi, I recently purchased 02 XDA IIs. How do I download Mp3 songs.

  • i want to buy a xda

  • go for sep910i..p910i is still the best...this phone is just a palstic!

  • i hope that's not amir who has a store on ventura blvd ... he he he ... i really hope not ... i have both SE P910i and O2 XDA IIs ... i would say that the P910 has a more stable OS than the XDA IIs (it's WINDOZE) ... but for some reason I find the XDA IIs easier to use ... The email functions are more robust as well as the internet experience. The P910 is a better phone than the O2 XDA IIs but while the latter is a much better PDA ... it's a toss up ... While the P910 is such a beautiful phone the XDA IIs is as well ... The O2 XDA IIs though is much more fun to work with since you have a lot more applications that you can run on it ... Oh i hope Amir helps his other clients when it comes to setting up emails on their pda phones ... i've corrected several already both POP3 and blackberry on the SE P910 ... Oh and for the kids in america who are blackberry fans ... i find the blackberry connect on the XDA IIs a little nicer than the blackberry connect on the SE P910 ... (at least i finally got rid of that ugly blackberry phone ... HA!!!!)

  • Go for a P910 SE.... No doubt the looks and out of the box features makes the O2 XDA IIs the latest product to give anyone "phone envy". However, I live in LA and my phone guy Amir, is a smartphone god who serves up the best unlocked phones money can buy to Hollywoods spoiled "keeping up w/ the Joneses set. He calls me every time a new gadget comes in, and invariably I want to go for the NEW TOY!. Now, even though they can take my cash, they don't and even the owner of the shop has consistantly kept me away from the O2 and Nokia 9300, 7100 etc, and I still am finding ways that my Sony p910a saves me steps, especially while on the road making tons of calls. The RF (Radio Strength) beats any phone I have ever had, by a MILE. Really, the P910's are not without flaws but for business it won't lock up, need to be reset, or do erratic stuff. it is a bit slower, but how long does it take to reset during a conference call??????

  • hi all, can anyone tell how can i play mp3 files? thanks!

  • Could someone please advise how I use my newly purchased XDA11s as a MP3 player. It does not mention it in the manual, although it states it as a feature on the O2 technical spec. for the device. Any assistance would be appreciated Thanks

  • This handset sure is the best PDA-phone in the market.. There is no doubt about it. ownders of the xda IIs will agree with me here.. I've had mine for several months now and still hadn't experience any problems mentioned in the posts before this. I can say that this phone is a lot lot better than the treo or hp's h6300..

  • can anyone tell whats better thid or the i mate pda2k or the sony ericson p910i

  • i have had o2 phones/PDA's for the last 2 years and i recently upgraded to the XDA2s from the original XDA. within two weeks i had to send it back due to a problem with the main speaker. the speaker was replaced and only another 2 weeks down the track it seems to have the same problem. has anyone had the same problem.

  • Anyone can give me some lights about IIs wirelss browsing experience? Is it easy to get to internet in hotspots like airport.

  • Hi there, i bought IIi phone and i wonder how to set the ring tone using Mp3 songs that i have downloaded, also the sms alert , can it be changed to a mp3 song too? Thks for ans my queries.

  • Great phone!! looks very masculine, not dorky. WiFi rocks!! keyboard is also great..

  • Hi, I just bought this and am trying to sync it with my Mac which I was told by the seller would be compatible. I've bought Pocket Mac but my powerbook is not registering the device. Even plugging in the USB, nothing pops up. Help!! Anybody in Singapore who has and O2 and a Mac?

  • hi, i just got my xda 2s, no problem with the bluetooth but is it possible to get mp3 ringtone for this phone and how? cuz my friends send me a lot of songs but i don't know how to set them as ringtone plz help

  • I am seriously considering buying one for two reasons: 1) I have a Blackberry and a phone today and am fed up with carrying two devices around. Can someone who has use the Blackberry features on this phone please comment at to how good it is? 2) I have an iPaq PDA with TomTom on in my car. I can also eliminate this by using the XDA IIs. Has anyone done this and does it work ok? Thanks in advance.

  • brought new xda11s,but cant connect bluetooth headset (motorola) but this used to work on my old xda11...has anyone any ideas..thanks

  • hi there had my 11s for about 4 months and no probs. my old p900 could play mp3 as ring tones and different ones for different contact can this be done with my 11s as this is the only thing that does my head in (simple things and simple minds).

  • it is a good phone i would like to buy it

  • Only just purchased this machine after having a Handspring (Palm) and this is my first phone/PDA. So far, my experience is that it's a disaster. I purchased two O2s for myself and my partner and we are experiencing problems with both. Firstly, the bluetooth earpiece crackles and is virtually inaudible, therefore, useless - not a problem of the latest Motorola units that we have, rather, I believe a problem with the O2. Secondly, when someone calls me, it goes straight to voicemail, whereas, when I place the SIM card back in my Nokia phone, it works fine. I've checked every available Setting to no avail. Next, I have the ability with my Palm, to secure any Memo ("Notes" on the O2) with a password access without locking the rest out but I don't have this facility with the O2. Next, the O2 has made inexplicable, inadvertant calls which is somewhat disconcerting. Then, for no apparent reason, the backlight goes off, leaving the unit in the dark causing us to fiddle with the Settings to turn on the brightness. Another issue is the limited ring tones exacerbated by the lack of volume - if the unit is in the clip pouch supplied and held in a briefcase or handbag, it is often not loud enough to be heard on an incoming call. I wanted the PDA to sync with ACT and have all our contacts in one unit with a phone - wonderful in theory but cumbersome, fiddly and totally frustrating in practice. The reason for choosing the O2 Xda IIs is for the qwerty keyboard, which, together with the desire to have a phone/PDA, regrettably, limited our choices. I'm seriously considering getting rid of it, going back to a Palm and sticking to the separate phone and PDA - keeping it simple which has worked for years. The loss I make will be adequately compensated by the elimination of the frustration so far experienced in the two weeks of the O2.

  • O2 XDA IIs..... i can say only 1 line for this cell..... My dream is to get this cell.. Hope.... oneday i will call to my Mother from the O2 XDA IIs ... Really it's a dream for me !

  • Can the o2 xda2s accept 1 gig mmc card???

  • can i get sat nav on xda and how?

  • can i get sat nav on xda11s and how??

  • i am writing on behalf of my boss. this pda is a great fone for only one reason, JAWBREAKER. Its an adictive game so beware.

  • This is my 1st O2 phone and also my 1st Microsoft OS platform as well...as far i use this PDA is great, give me no problemo it all....this phone/pda is fantastic

  • Hi guys. How do I download from links in Pocket Explorer? Is there any equivalent of the right click option? In my web mail program, I cannot download attachments that have been sent to me - clicking the link just gets me to an error page.

  • For the User having problems with his Bluetooth TOMTOM GPS cutting off, the initial version of Bluetooth on the unit suffers from poor or no connection to dropping out, this is also recognised fault. O2 suggested latested firmware upgrade, but that could effect Stability Beware! (O2 Suggest another firmware upgrade release in June 05)

  • I have had an XDA IIs for two months, I am on my second unit no better than the first, it keeps locking up and needs a soft reset if I am lucky but mostly Hard resets, which really upsets me. Secondly it I have had several complaints about my voice fading on calls, these two issues are recognised faults by 02 and are working to resolve, putting the latest firmware strangely increases the frequency of crashes! You can't beat a Nokia!

  • holding the power button down means turning on/off the backlight of the pda. just click the power button once and your done! setting the power off automatically would be a good alternative... just go to settings, power, advance tab, and set the number of minutes before the pda turns itself off. you're set!

  • Hi guys..I admit I'm new in mobile tech, and need sum good advice frm all techies out there.I'm abt to buy a multi tasking gadget for myself.Which's the best to choose from:a PDA's @ Smartphone? Jst name ur vote with simple tips/advice..will be highly appreciated.

  • I love it, the only thing is that the Bluetooth seems to keep dropping the connection with my Tomtom receiver. I'm not sure if this is a Tomtom problem or a setting on bluetooth but it is wearing a bit thin. Any thoughts anyone?

  • Can someone help me? I CANNOT power off my xda. I hold the power button, but only the backlight changes. TW

  • its the nutz. does everything my pc does accept 3d games. i even have pocketirc running on it but by far the best feature is the inbuilt wireless lan as i have a wireless network at home so i can happily surf at home on it free of charge. its got msn messenger also and theres stacks of downloads available for it. i even have a 1gig memory card in it. a truly amazing piece of kit!

  • Hey Guys, how do i change the OS to english from chinese version? I bought the phone 2nd hand so want to put it back in english, how do i start? Thanks for the help in advance. Regards. C4

  • its a great phone. you can surf the net using wifi and saves you money using your DSL connection. Anyone selling one in Riyadh Saudi Arabia, just email me.

  • I moved over from a HP4700 to the XDA IIs. I was prepared to give up the VGA screen for the integrated comms of the XDA and I'm not dissappointed. Very pleased with the kit and I now don't have to carry around a PDA AND a phone... Mark

  • I am weighing up between getting the XDAiis of the XSAii Mini. I am mainly wanting email capability as well as some internet use while travelling. Can someone let me know which they would recommend? TW

  • It's a great PDA and I love it. I think it's the top of the range in terms of its functionality.

  • For all concerned. I have, as do many of my friends a IIs. I am in Taiwan and got mine in Singapore so as to get the English version. You may wish to know there is one long waiting list for them as they sell out so quick and also had to pay a premium to get one. The only problem I have had or have heard about is the hands free bluetooth noise. I hope this get fixed soon. PS there is yet another version just round the corner which is available in Taiwan under a different name but ever so good. Enjoy all.

  • if any body has any kind of xda to sell at not stupid prices post oyur price to me thanks

  • how and where can i download games and ringtones for the xda IIs

  • Just bought my unit 19 days ago. Just read all the reviews today, wish i had know the problems earlier. Same issues, screen freezes & bluetooth signal. I am not happy. I'm not a pda geek but I love its other features. I hate when it freezes, had to do full resest and the screen does not align quickly, takes time start from the beginning.

  • Hi Kim, Go for XDA IIS, the mini don't have wireless lan, well you can compare this 2 phones

  • Hey guys, This phone is great to carry around, depends on which laptop you want to compare to. But I can tell you this "I LOVE THIS PHONE" so far so good, accept some minor problems. PROBLEM: 1) Did not pick up signal very well compare to other phones 2) Battery life very short (daily charge recommended) because you dont want to loose all your data 3) No Voice command 4) Freeze 2 times So far so good accept all problems above that happened to my phone, I have this phone about 2 weeks I like it a lot even though little pricy.

  • hi, can someone give me an idea to choose between o2 xda ll mini and o2 xda lls ? Does the o2 mini comes with wireless Lan 802.11b ? And does the Wireless Lan work good on the O2 xda lls ? Thanks

  • hai can anyone tell me the real DISADVANTAGES of O2XDA2s .is it really useful as a LAPTOP .

  • i'm thinking of buying O2 but i'm confused in buying either the Xda IIs or the XDA mini. Would someone please advise me as to which one has a better quality and value?? thank u!

  • i bought my XDA IIs monday, i love it, all funtions is working great (knocks on wood) wifi, bluetooth, transfer data...is awesome accept the battery life too short compared to my other pda. i need more power gadgets :)

  • press and hold the green call key during a call to activate the loudspeaker.

  • XDA IIs is also known as the i-mate PDA2K outside of the UK. It is made by HTC and is cheaper to buy abroad on your holiday than it is in the UK.

  • How can we use Loud Speaker on my O2 Xda IIs If any one know please Please do mail me regarding the same Thanks

  • hey.. jus got my xda2s yesterday.. be honest, not as good as i tot it would be.. major set back is the wifi.. can't use it at all.. and worst is the handset keeps hanging, really anoying.. but other than that .. need to explore more..

  • Hi everyone!!! I have just bought xdaII s. But there is a problem about alignment. It always freeze. After re-opening it shows "windows mobile" and ask that tap the screen for align screen. but it doesnt show normal screen anyway. Could you please say how i solve this problem? By the way, there is no help in offical website. i am very dissapointed...

  • does any body knows where can I get software of MP3 Ringtones Patch for XDA IIs?

  • Question: Can the XDA IIs send and receive business cards? Thanks!

  • Pretty good for a PDA phone...however, I think we should not confuse it with a typical mobile phone for its size and battery life as this is a feature packed handheld with everything that a PDA and a mobile phone can do. Let's give O2 a sound applause for a design well done.

  • I just bought the phone a few days ago and am already experiencing problems. The WIFI connectivity shows that i am connected but when i open internet explorer or msn messenger, it gives me an error message saying " The page you are looking for cannot be found." I am using wireless internet at home and the wireless connection on my laptop is working fine. That really puzzles me, shouldn't i be able to automatically surf the net without doing any settings. Please advise, Thanks.

  • Can Some one tell me which is better between O2 XDA IIs and O2 XDA IIi? how about the price? Which is newer between them?

  • it sure is an awesome "foneputer". aside from the occasional "freeze" - handwriting recog is great, connectivity excellent and wi-fi surfing rocks. My router is picked up till 15 meters. Found that voice command app is handy - though the one i got is still not very good/sensitive. 2 way data transfer via BT works well. QUESTIONs : 1. can BT handle voice commands or just basic call features? 2. whats the latest / best voice command software? 3. speech to txt and vice versa possible? ( ala Tablet PC ) thanks guys!

  • A well designed PDA with good connectivity features. Tip: You will find the XDA 2s freezes a lot. To fix this get rid of a uneccessary file> in file explorer/windows/startup/ Delete the single file called "connection." This will remove the O2 symbol from the start menu task bar and decrease the similtaneous network connections that slows the device down and causes it to crash. It works much better, faster and smoother once you have done this and this can be restored with the device software cd should you ever want to restore it. The wireless lan works at far ranges up to 15 metres providing you have a good wirless router. A divx pocket media player needs to loaded where the windows media player does not play many formats and does not function too well. With a high capacity memory card in the expansion slot you can load lots of exciting pocket programs and utilities and have lots of fun. The querty keyboard helps with online activities like banking and msn messanger. The battery life can be improved, solution always carry a backup. Use microsoft pocket pc theme generator to create your themes and manually copy the pocket pc theme file directly into the windows directory to display the theme in the "today" theme feature under personal settings. I give the xda 2s 9 out of 10. Question: Can the blue tooth headset only route the phone feature or can it be used for all audio output like music on the device?

  • I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on between the O2 XDAIIs and the Treo 650 as I am debating right now between the two, both are a little pricey here in Canada and seem to have about the same rating level, the reason I'm leaning towards the O2 is the bigger screen area ... Any opinions/suggestions from anyone who has used both/either ? Thanks, Daniel...

  • Pick the xdaIIs. had mine for a month and still having a blast using it.. the keyboard is very usable.. Never had any problems with my unit.. it froze once but it is just normal for any phone.. P910i is the worst choice.. while the 9500 is a brick.. and both is symbian, which for me is the worst Operating System..

  • Xda IIs is the best!!! but can u send file from xda2s to pc via bt? (original software)i can send file via bt to nokia, but i cant send any file to my pc via bt.. >.

  • Hi there, I am tossing up in getting either O2 XdaIIs or the Nokia 9500 or either the Sony Ericsson P910i. Can someone help me plz? I have heard that O2 have problems? Thanks

  • Am from Singapore and am eagerly awaiting for the realease of O2i in Singapore, does anyone know around when it will be released in Singapore?

  • If I were you, I'd choose a windows mobile device over the symbian 9500.. Not only is the xda IIs more powerful but it also has the best softwares available.. From a tech junkie's perspecive, A symbian device is no match to the Windows mobile device.. Also, a 9500 is bigger and uglier, in my opinion, than the xda IIs.. Wi-Fi works better with the xda IIs too.. I really can't find any good things to say about the 9500.. I'd recommend the xda IIs..

  • hey ppl i have read almost all the opinion abt the nokia 9500 and O2 XDAIIs but i dont know which one is the best or worth to buy , so help me in buying one of the phone . thanx ...

  • Hi there, i bought this phone and i wonder how to set the ring tone using Mp3 songs that i have downloaded, also the sms alert , can it be changed to a mp3 song too? Thks for ans my queries.

  • Just saw one, And it is most absolutely the best-looking pocket pc ever.. LOL. The xda2 Mini is also good but it is ugly IMO.

  • THe XDA IIs is an absolute chick-magnet!!! Very cooool looking phone!!

  • XDA IIs rocks!! It has got to be the most handsome pocket pc to date. I have an XDA IIs and never experienced the problems being mentioned here by other "supposed" users. With all the possible connectivity options like Wi-Fi, bluetooth, infrared, GPRS, Quadband.. It's got everything. The screen is fantastic. The battery lasts much longer than the XDA II. Keyboard is very very usable. As a matter of fact, it is better than the clie UX40 I had before and way better than the treo.. Pocket PC rocks. Anyone who gets to use a pocket pc would never look back into there "palm" days..

  • these x range pdas are cool but the pdas are not as good as tablet pc's. you get 20gb hdd and above with tablet pc's and now there is a very small compact one with windows xp os called OQO Model 01 and it is smaller in size than most pdas. it is awesome it has an integrated slide down qwerty keyboard. you can install lots of pc games like gta san andreas and all too. awesome only thing is the price hmmmmm.

  • I've bought xda IIs about 2 weeks ago...but the standby time of the battery is only 24 hours. Is there an extended battery produced by O2 ? Thank you for the information.

  • 10 of us bought 10 units of XDA 2s on 26/2/05. 7 of us have to return it back for swaping or 1-2-1 exchange due to the problems; 1. It hangs every minutes 2. every now & then we have to reallign the screen 3. even we performed soft-reset, it still hangs 4. u've no option but to factory-reset. loading will coz u more times. I've never faced with any prob with my previous XDA 2

  • I've just got Xda IIs for a week. It got freezzed yesterday when I was calling. Even soft-reset, it did not come back to work. When I unplug the battery but nothing happened. Anyone help me pls! Thank you. It was a very expensive PDAs.

  • I got my o2 xda ii about 2 weeks, it doesn't come with a memory card. So, naturally, i bought 1. after inserting the card, I can read whatever is in the card, unfortunately, I can't create new folders without soft reset. copying files is also a problem. It hangs after each of this request. But after the soft reset, the files and the folders I've created is there. Help.

  • Hi.. I m new here, juz get to know tis 2 days ago. Can Xda IIs send & receive Chinese sms? oso, i m concern on the phone reception. I have heard alot of complaints abt the O2 Mini of poor phone reception. Thats why i m tinking of getting the Xda IIs instead. Can someone help to advice? Thanks a million!!

  • can xdaIIs play video mpeg files. it sounds that xda s have so much problem is it really true because i'm considering buying it. how much does it cost in singapore. thank alot everyone.

  • Has anyone had problems with power failure? Mine is only a month old and already have had it drop out twice, and perform it's own hard reset...it is away being 'repaired' as we speak, not sure i'll trust it again, might have to go back to the phone only....

  • imo i think that i want the archos pma400 more than any other pda shown on here or anywhere. it has linux os, you can connect a usb keyboard which can fold to fit in your pocket, 30gb hdd, connect to tv/cable box etc to record your favourite shows, connect to tv to view movies or pictures on the big screen, also opera browser, emulators and plenty of other stuff. but thats my opinion.

  • I work at O2 and so can answer or get answers regarding handset performance and best deals. post message if anybody wants any help or info

  • Before getting XdaIIs, can anyone tell me does this XdaIIs can surf internet running on real-time. I mean to view or trade online.

  • i hope o2 bring out the xda4 soon. from the pictures on msmobiles i can see that it is the same size as the o2 xda2s and one of the pics show the back of the phone which looks to say 1.3 megapixel and it has vga camera for video calling. it is really cool and fits in your hand perfect well that depends on what size of hand you have small or big. really awesome i'm gettin it as soon as it is released. well done htc for designing the best pda yet and the mini laptop look makes it look just like a tablet pc but way smaller and can fit in your pocket unlike tablet pcs which are bricks and the size of big laptops unlike this awesome device. bring it on.

  • do these pdas have any storage limit or can you store any amount as a bigger card comes out each year ?

  • It can play MPG video files just not in Windows Media Player - you'll need to download the DivX player for pocket pc - its free and codecs with work.

  • oops, i don't think this is the best PDA phone:( i suggest you try the XDA IIi. This is the BEST!!!

  • cannot plaympg video files

  • the b-e-s-t!!!!!!!!

  • Its coooooooooool. It Has Great Features. Its the Best in the Market....Go n Buyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

  • To diran, What are you talking about! The rocker pad skips forward when pressed to the right and skips back when pressed to the left. Volume is controlled the same way, up or down on the rocker pad. Plus, you can map different buttons on the device to do what you want. Read the manual!

  • I see this mobile set on net .I like it too much.isurprised to see its function.can it available in Pakistan and how much its price.

  • how much is this phone there and is there any second hand type of this phone kse its a pda phone

  • It is very good phone its look is good and nice phone i think this best phone two any others company but the promblem is edge is not givan in this company and mega pixal camara is not givan i think it is best phone...

  • anyone know where to get it 4 installment plan

  • Well,i got da MDA a few days ago,its da T-mobile version,is a brilliant phone, but there are some things dat ain't functional with da phone like: Its got a media player 4 mp3 tracks right, but what they didn't figure intigratin with da external phone features are basic control like stop, play,FF,RR when u wanna skip tracks,i thot the joy-pad was gonna double up for that but NOOOOOO u gotta take the phone out of its case, then da pen, then work ur way thru 2 the media player....HOW SAD!!!!!!! Secondly, all phones that i kno got a keypad lock, but dis don't,soo u hear ur phone actin up with different menues Lastly,i can't find the unlockin code for it,cos i tend to travel alot, soo its not much use if i can't swap sims where am at Bottom line,i still like it like WOW!!!,sounds sad right

  • saw it at M1 paragon yesterday. Impressive

  • where can i get the XDA2s phone from in singapore ?

  • must work hard to get nuff dough to buy this....such a beauty

  • Yes....To the few that have been giving the thumbs down to this phone because of the BT problems, the patch is out and fixes those issues. All phones, computers, pocket pc's, palm's, etc....have problems when they first come out. If you buy a device when it first hits the market you must understand that there will be problems and that you need to relax and update as the patches come out. Don't knock this device! It's abosolutely great. I surf on the train to and from work, get my corporate email, place phone calls (to whoever said the call quality sucked, simply not true for my phone), play games, and listen to my music. I couldn't be happier! My advice to all potential buyers for this and any other PPC, "You must be willing to tinker, reload, and reboot". What that means is that this device while it is a phone, isn't just a phone. So if you have problems loading software on your home computer or fixing your home computer, then I suggest you buy a Samsung phone and learn to install ringtones. It's not meant for the technically challanged.

  • its a really very kool mobile with gr8 features nn its really very hot having a sexy shape n size i would definately like to have it

  • The problem with O2 Xda IIs' bluetooth can now be rectified by patching/upgrading its system. The patch can be found in www.myxda.com....ofcourse, you have to register first. My bluetooth is now working fine from build 1900 to 3500.

  • it is wonderfull ı want to learn how am ı import these telephones

  • i just bought this o2 XDA 2s last week, for my opinion this machine is really superb..nice LCD touch screen..very bright resolution...but the problem is,the camera is still running at the small pixel :(

  • Wifi works only 5 feet then its out of range. Audio Discusting. BlueTooth Garbage. I'm returning the phone and maybe wait for III to come out.

  • 1. Due to position of mic your voice sometimes fades in and out to the person on the other line or sounds like an echo. Never had this problem with the xda 2 2. Bluetooth dial up networking services are missing so if you search for available services on another bt phone it will never identify dial up networking (although this is clearly documented in the manual and worked without problem on the xda 2). Therefore at the moment you cannot use the xda 2s as a straightforward pda using a bt connection from a bluetooth enabled phone. 3. When you have a bt headset connected it will keep turning the xda on 4. Audio is really bad, Lots of other end Echo! And sounds like the RF is going true the unit. Sounds like a bee in the background. I'm not the only one one with these problems. I'll be going back to my P910a Its awsom.

  • I think of change to XDA II for a year ....now XDA IIs!!! Ai...the major concern still the processor speed! 400MHz is O.K., but understand that Intel is develop for >600MHz processor target for PDA or smartphone gadgets. Hmm...wait for that, keep my P900 running! The good points of XDA IIs is it's OS..MS mobile 2nd edition & increased RAM + great design. The remain...i think is almost same as XDA II.

  • One company made this mobile phone known elsewhere as T-Mobile MDA III or O2 Xda IIs, i-mate PDA2k, SIEMENS SX66 (HTC Made).

  • I requied xda IIs kindly tell me whre ican buy from Pakistan

  • what the h##l... all the same phone except diff brand name.. i-mate.. o2.. all the same thing.. and made from taiwan.. that all guy

  • Its a good phone, but has windows media player 10, I dont see how to play real meadia, Can any body help how to upgrade to media player 10 and also is it possible to instal realy player. If yes please advise how to do it. With regards Arjun

  • i like XDA2 because is very helpful especially if i didn't bring my note book, i must say Much better then my previous SE P900. only one, i feel so Bored with the ringtones, is there any possibilities to use mp3 as a ringtones?

  • Anyone interested in the XDAIIs can get it for 249.99 on O2. Email me to get details.

  • Visit the website and click on the "Blue Angel" category in the Forum Index where you will find a very important topic entitled "Multiple Serious Issues On O2 XDA IIs" about the various problems faced by the users currently. This way you can compare it thoroughly against other PDA phones like Sony Ericsson P910i and Nokia 9500 Communicator before you decide to buy the right one.

  • its very nice and good picture.

  • Where did u get the informations O2 will launch xda3? What is the spec? as i know, o2 will release a new pda phone which is xda2i (xda2 mini) on February 2005. Is xda2s can use with mp3 ringtone? any malaysian friend using xda2s work find with maxis mms? cause my xda2 cant use with maxis mms.

  • p910 good ~~~this one no good stand by time short ~~~

  • Does the O2 XDA IIs have the two-way voice call recording feature whereby you can record and recall phone conversation while driving so you don't have to jot things down with a pen and paper as well as saving the cost of getting a seperate voice memo recorder unit?

  • Should I buy this or the SonyEricsson P910?

  • wait till the o2 XDA3 is released in spring 2005. If your impressed with the XDA2s, then just wait........

  • Just bought one and it arrived today!! Im over the moon!! The XDA II felt cheap and plasticy!! This one feels so much better quality!! I bought it from just seeing pictures on the O2 website and its far better than I expected!! And the keyboard is fantastic!! + it looks even better cos its backlit in blue!! Very impressive PDA even more impressive phone!!

  • It's available in Malaysia now with price RM3588. My current is using XDAII for about 6 month, now this new model coming out and think to change my II to IIs, a big problem i face with my II is that i'm hard to use 1 hand operation on making a call... hope this new model will fulfill my need with the additional keyboard.

  • Absolutely impressive, I think I'll get either this or Nokia 6670 or nokia 9500 as my next phone

  • Yeah looks good but not much of a change from the old 1. 260k screen would have been the logical upgrade!!

  • Hey- Does anyone have lots of pictures of this thing? I am interested in this or the N9300

  • The camera resolution a bit low. The screen colour and the ringtone a bit less. The rest of function should be all right.

  • Worldex's selling price for XDAIIs is crazy at US$1,161 or HK$9,029. HK is selling them at HK$6,988 or US$898 but have to 2 weeks.

  • I like it

  • I have recently purchased this phone; it is an extremely impressive piece of equipment both functionally and visually. The Wi-Fi function is very practical as there is an abudance of O2 Hot-Spot locations. I receive the internet service free of charge at my University College. The camera is adequate for that of a PDA. The format of the phone is astounding.

  • check ebay, there are a few XDA2s going but expensive...

  • there would be an XDA O2i which has a same model dan similar feautures, but different in processor and camerea. the O2i will has 500Mhz Processor and 1.3MPcamera

  • i need to find out the price please for OS XDA IIs .

  • it;s has launced in singapore and indonesia... cost about S$1500. unfortunatelly, it lacks of megapixel camera and EDGE. Better value than N9500

  • more added features, why don't they offer an upgrade lyk in cars, u sorta pay more money for the features rather than release the same thing with a few changes. i'm really starting to h8 this phone business

  • Looks great! I want to buy one but can't seem to find a vendor who has it in stock and the phone is unlocked.
