Hi Maxx, you can use ringo application for using mp3 file as ringtone or sms tone. for sending files via bluetooth, I recommended to use resco explorer... its agreat phone!

when I start my O2XphoneII, it gives sim error ( unknown sim status ).It even sometimes opens the main menu for a few seconds, but again the same message of 'sim error'. hi, I buy this phone a year ago and I only found out just yesterday that you can use the extended memory of the fone as a storage of its operating system. It works well and have a much faster System operation compared to its normal one. I have a 1GB Extended NVRAM installed. hehehe...

I have just tried phone with an orange and then virgin sim card to see whether phone is locked. Both worked but now I've put my o2 sim card back in the network ID comes up as virgin and I can't find a way of gettin O2 back. Is this a bug? The phone works but just displays the incorrect network name I think the network number is 23410?

dear new owner. this is quite an old model. i'm using this phone for about a year now. some explanation for those who don't know. 1. no usb driver needed. install activesync 3.8 and plug your phone. won't work with activesync 4 since it was tailored for wm5. yes, you can sync using bluetooth. 2. no mp3 ringtone. only wma and wav. so sad o2 didn't come with ROM update. BUT you can replace your ROM with others e.g. imate. anyway this void your warranty. 3. default file manager won't allow bluetooth transfer. need to install third party. 4. auto GPRS, WAP, MMS setting can be done at data connection at start menu. 5. for the reminder thingy, try google for maniac auto keylock (freeware). i think that's it. just caring to share some information. TQ.

You can actually download O2 menu from their site (www.seeo2.com) which replaces its default menu list display into a grid type menu. You can even place an image as background.

have had this phone for a couple of months and it works sweet. I have made a few mod's and I suspect that is the main reason for some system hangs. I need to restart once a week to avoid lock ups. It can be a little hard to use initially but once you get used to it you won't go back. Main plus is that it uses Windows Mobile as the OS. You can sync with Outlook as it uses activesync, which for me is fantastic. Has all the features that you could want (well, that I could want, and half of them I don't use). Installation of software is pretty simple but can be a little problematic due to compatibility. Greater flexibility over look and feel that I am used to, however, to really customize it, I would suggest that you actually be a developer in this field. Previous phone was a motorazor, which was great except for the calendar function, single entry contacts being duplicated. I find that this is more of a general use phone (work, rest and play).

i love this phone! however, when it comes to text messaging, it cannot process incoming and outgoing ones if it happens simutaneously. mine gets jammed and i won't be able to access the messaging area unless i turn it off and on again. i also don't know how to change the incoming msgs (text,MMS,outlook) sounds to the ones i have in my computer. i can do it for my ring tones, but not the msg tones... anyone can help with dat? still exploring it's f(x)'s tho! :)

Hmm. I want you to share my results I found for the XPhone II. How to send files via bluetooth. You have to use Smart Explorer. Register urphone at seeo2.com and u can get a free download of the software along with Register code. How to receive files. Make sure RECEIVE BEAM FROM ALL USERS is active in BEAM Sounds. I got the files in my ringtones list. Search in download.com for MP3 to WMA to get the software. For alarms etc it aceepts only WAV files. Make sure to download O2 Connect from the seeo2.com website. It allows automatic keylock and theme organiser among adding a nice cool interface. Now regarding download for codecs. I found this really good player called TCPMP from www.tcpmp.org The player has a host of codecs which are available on the website. PRoblems i am facing with the phone. 1)Battery gets discharged fairly quickly.Even if i am not talking full time, or watching movies or listening to music. I think its simply the problem of the display so make sure display settings are low and display goes off fairly quickly. The helpdesk said to keep GPRS and BLUETOOTH off when not needed to save battery. Ok last thing for the very bravehearted check the link to download the latest update for Windows Mobile SE. Not 5.0 but i think installs Mediaplayer 10. Again this is HIGHLY RISKY. Please take backups and if u screw up ur phone is gone. Anything else, you can always email me.

For those XphoneII uses in Malaysia, you guys should know that the service centre in KL (located at Berjaya Time Square) is brilliant! I'd sent my phone there (having keypad problems) and they helped fixed my problems is matter of minutes. In fact they even cleaned up my phone and upgraded my sortware and its all for Free! Kudos to them and keep up the good job!

hello, i think this phone can play ringtone in .wma format but not .mp3. so if u download mp3 ringtone u has to convert it to .wma then u can set as ringtone.

i love my phone by the design and its function. The thing is the bottons are very easily damaged and the after sales is incredible. The product like this require 3 days to have it checked or I have to pay extra as urgent case. Please note that they havent checked, or touch, my phone at all but insist that they will need 3 working days to do it. What if the problem is so small as just a s/w set up or manufacturer error? another point is as a phone, I suppose i might have extra to use during the 3 days but as a PDA, with the lifestyle that required a PDA, can we live or should i use the word survive?, 3 days without PDA? so 1: Can they take a look at the problem to defy the problem? then name the period required for fixing it. 2: If they can do an urgent case at extra cost within 5 hours, why normal case take 3 days? This phone is awesome, anyone who wants a quality phone with heaps of features should buy one. I had a k700i before this and a string of Nokia's, Motorola's and Sony Ericssons as well. This is definitely the best, especially the huge colour screen. Initiially, it can be difficult to use for people used to the Nokia menus, but use it for 3 days and you'll find heaps of cool features and shortcuts that'll make you forget all the others. You can customise the ringtone and message alert tone, but not with MP3's which is annoying. Also, not being able to have a different ringtone for each profile is frustrating, as is lack of OBEX Bluetooth file transfer. These slight annoyances are far outweighed by the overall coolness of the phone. IM fans will appreciate the built in MSN client.

Hard reset O2 XPHONEII if anything else fails: - remove battery for few minutes, put back, hard reset is done by the pressing the two black buttons (left/right just below the lcd). Hold the soft buttons and then press the power on/off button (it takes some excercise). Release the power on/off button but keep the L/R soft keys pressed, until you see a message for factory settings. Relase L/R buttons and choose '0' button to continue. After that your phone is back in default factory mode. - it does take some time and excercise to push the buttons in the right sequence. Just keep trying.

Example, John, press 5646 SIM contact are all contacts stored in SIM card if I'm not wrong About GPRS : if you've turned it off by holding the home button, then it's off. The G symbol appear at the top of the screen shows that there is GPRS service available, but it's off.For GPRS on, there's another symbol (refer to the manual)

u cannot use the BT headset to listern mp3 or song.press the power button still to proceed hard reset. joystick is the fatal bad points of this phone. cannot play mp3 as ringtone. i've used it for 4 months. up to now still ok. for the bros who live in new york if u wan to repair yr screen then it will be very costly. I have been using it for about 2 month. Following are the problem that I had with my unit. Can anyone verify it whether it is just the problem of my unit, or it is a common error for all the units? 1. My Xphone II seems like it only can support half duplex when it is on speaker phone mode. Meaning if two party talk at the sametime, the non-Xphone II user will not be able listen to my voice. 2. hey, to do a hard reset is impossible. Although the manual books written the instructions to do a hard reset, I can't do it. They require a special card to put into the slot and perform a hard reset. Only the O2 centre has the card. All you need to do is send the phone back to the service centre. They can do for you. I can't find anything good about this phone. I've been "dealing" this phone and less features then Nokia. This phone doesn't even have a callers' group ringtones... Not sure about that. But it's running quite slow.

Hi. I got my XPhone II about a week ago. I wanted to get the O2 XDA II Mini, but instead I got myself the XPhone II because of my tight budget. But to my surprise, the XPhone II works well and I loved it. It's a great phone to have. Here in Malaysia, mobile phone vendors are selling the "normal" type of mobile phones. So owning a smartphone like this one will surely turn a few heads. Parts? Batteries? Covers? Repairs? No problem. There are many O2 dealers here in Malaysia. The replacement parts are cheap and easy to find. Truly, I am happy with my XPhone II.

Oh, yes, that's true forgot to mentioned, you need to take the battery and wait few minutes before putting back. From then follow what I've written before. Should work, don't worry and your xphone2 is up and running!

before buying this phone, i just wanted to ask for some opinions. does it have excel and word in it? does it hang as often as XDA II ? how long does the battery really last? thanks.

Potential buyers: Check your keypads and cursor to make sure that they work. The cursor and "2" key on my phone don't always work and be careful when putting the phone into the case because the cursor will come off. Happened to me twice and lost the cursor the second time it happened, brought it to the distributor and have to shell out 20 US bucks to replace and they blamed me for not being more careful. Setting the phone can be a bit of work for those not familiar. I travel a lot and getting signal and logging to networks are not always successful, I carry 2 Nokias as well and they do not have this logging on problem. Status of phone: In the distributor waiting for the cursor to be replaced, will have it back next week then it's bye bye. I am selling it.

Have been using this for 2 months. Excellent device. Some things I particularly like bout it: - Very compact design, optimised surface space use. e.g. big screen. - Solid architecture. No creaky sounds, elegent matt dark surface. - Good tactile feedback. The keys are solid but comfortably sensitive. - Fast interface response time. - Good mp3 player. Ditched my 30Gb mp3 player and got a 512Mb mini-SD for this. But the bass' weaker. - The 'joystick's response and feel is good. Probably considered a bit too sensitive. - Fast and reliable data transfer with the PC via usb. - Good screen rez and colour contrast. - Good shortcut keys configurability, like the siemens', but not as good as moto's. - Con: Camera's quite bad, esp in night mode. Not sure what's the issue bout the backlight, mine's back-lighting happily enough. May wanna check your settings. Another con's it doesn't have in-built capability to send data via bluetooth. Needs a 3rd party software. You can use the 'smart explorer' to cut-copy-paste, ZIP, and send by IR/bluetooth. Can get this from: Have used the 6230, cx65, t630 before. Wanted to get the k700i earlier but read that it keeps falling apart, glad the xphone2 entered the market and solved my dilemma. :). Have fun.

i heard that this type of phone have a lot of comments. first, the bluetooth connectivity was not working as normal. for example can receive data but cannot send data. this true or not. one more is no back light for the keypad. anyway i hope this kind of problems can be solve as soon and now i in planning buy this 02 xphone 11. thanks.

As far as I know, cannot re-format, but you can do a Hard Reset. It will return the phone to its original factory condition. Refer to your manual for instruction. And yes to Ricky300, this phone cannot send anything via bluetooth, you'll need third party software to do that.

Have this phone for a month now. Does not support send file via bluetooth, does not support MP3 as ringtone but you can convert to .wma, does not support cut & paste, no built-in docu reader, otherwise a pretty nice phone to have. Was informed by O2 support up to 512mb for miniSD. Cheers.

I bought this phone yesterday from [email protected] for �179 on pay as you go. its the damn cuttest phone ive ever seen, small too and really powerful. i can use programs that are designed for pocket pcs and its fast too, 200mhz processor. the good part is they threw in a free 128mb card for storage. long live mp3's

i would really like to see this released with wifi, an sd/sdio card slot along with a compactflash card slot (so i can use the phone as an fm radio tuner), also a 256k color screen, 1.3mp camera or higher. i would like to see it accept up to 4gb or higher as you can get software for a neonode n1 to accept up to 4gb max.

NIce handset, thin, light and feature packed, I have the imate sp3i version, but expect o2 to add their active userinterface amongst other things, also would have thought that MS would have added a document viewer / reader. No mp3 ringtones, no dedicated delete / cancel key as per symbian handsets, nor the ability to copy paste text some feaatures i loved in the 6600..... thats me for now. jim

It's actually an Orange SPV C500, or HTC Typhoon as it's also known. The design of O2 xPhone II is, however, far superior in my opinion. As it's based on Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003SE, the phonebook may contain exactly the same amount of data as the MS Outlook adress book. Which means almost unlimited number of fields. It has mobile internet explorer, msn messenger, pocket Outlook - everything that the Orange SPV C500 / HTC Typhoon has, as it's basically the same phone.
