This was my first phone that I have ever owned. I have had it for over 5 years now Let me say that it is great! However it has been dropped for a waterbath. But I quickly removed the battery and sim and place it all inside the hot water cupboard for three days. Worked ever since. Only battery life was affected, but thanks to it discharging completely and full recharges. The battery life has recovered and is now fine. Very rare does it say "Restarting Sim" or No Sim Inserted, even when it is.

I have had my vs2 for a very long time and it has never let me down, until recently when I had it in my pocket with some keys. This has ruined the screen and I have been unable to get it repaired. I have been told that I could buy anothr VS2 and get the internals swopped. I need to do this as I have some precious photos on it that I am now unable to access. Be warned, don't put your mobile in with your keys.

i have this phone which is not mine.. hehehe would not recommend this type of phone.. most panasonic mobile phones specially their VS series.. the commnon problem is the flex cable it is very versatile and when you usually flip it often you are closer to your phone damage.. hehehe like in our country most people here are txters so.. its not really a good phone for people who are texters..it is more on call and entertainment.. but texting.. i would not recommend this

Waahh..first the ear piece all of a sudden stopped working and then just couple of days ago there was also no light in the screen display just like what happened to minu3t�s phone!!..and that�s it! Where can i get the battery? panasonic mobile is already closed in indonesia. Mine is VS2, hav it for the last three years. Loved it soo much, but now the earpiece has been spoilt,need to turn speaker on or using the earphone. there is no light also in the screen display. Hmm what else? The battery almost explode, can not be used for making phone call more than 15 minutes. Now Im going to see it die... but i haven't buy another one. This is my first love..:)

I love my VS2 (I'm on my third one though - first phone the back casing flipped open each time I opened the phone, second phone needed to be on SPEAKER for calls and battery was replaced in each phone as phone kept turning off by itself). APART from those hassles, phone is fabulous. Favourite feature is that the text message tone can be changed for each contact as can the message light colour. Does anyone know of any other phone that can differentiate between text callers??

Bahaha, I have this phone!! I've had it for over 2 yrs now and i tell you it is an old working horse!! Paint is all scratched off it! it randomly turns itself off, it gets dropped everyday, it needs to be charged everyday and the battery exploded about a week ago!! But it still works!! Good ol faithful! lol

Hi To Pink -> restarting sim can be caused by: 1. ur simpack is already worn out 2. ur sim connector inside is already bent "in" that why contact of sim to phone is not good. need to open pull it up. 3. ur battery is loose, try to put anything. 4. Lastly, if all did not work. Some portion on program and calibration are internally corrupted. need to redownload new program but unfortunately limited center does that. To Angel option 1. Click the folder - u can transfer image and pics. option 2. Click Album > Download from handset ... YUKI ..... use original battery and charger, if ur already using original, thats a very big problem. It means charging circuit of ur phone is already dead.

i have a pink vs2. i love this phone not until it had me replaced my sim card twice already. what happened was my honey was calling me and before i even get to answer it a message "sim restarting" was displayed and my phone automatically turned off. what i did is i opened the back of my phone and i took off my sim card and then put it back again. and then my sim card was rejected.. sigh.. and it happened to me twice.. it restarted my sim and then rejected it..

Yeah, this is is pretty good phone.But, I have one problem like how do u transfer like pictures that I took on the phone to the computer? I have the usb cord and the handset manager installed where do i click? album? cuh, other than that there isn't anything else to click for pictures. soo if u can help me out e-mail me.

Although the paint job is a little fragile this is an excellent phone!! it is very user friendly. has a great keypad 4 easy texting and navigation, and is quick to respond. I hav hadthis phone for about 2 years now and i must admit im not going out to buy another phone any time soon!

Only thing was the paint coming off around the edges. A great phone. I just drowned mine and may buy another one. Good screen size. Quick response when navigating menus and entering txts. Good battery life. Easy to use. Nice keys.

Ive had this phone for the past two years, its been great in its time and still good for taking basic pictures, text messaging and calling. Battery isn't very good, cut outs alot during phone calls, and doesn't last very long

My silver/gold VS2 that I mentioned in an earlier post arrived two weeks ago and it has been a blast! The paint job is not as fragile as I had thought but still scratches a tad too easily. The screen has vivid deep depth and shows its many colors well. The silver/gold and silver/brown versions are less flashy and more plain than the vivid pink version and are cheaper as a result. The hinge on my used VS2 actually seems sturdier than the VS3 I bought new, but both work great. I love my Panasonic phones!

This is a wonderfully designed phone. I have a Black VS3 and just ordered a used Silver/Gold VS2. The quality is flawless and auto-open hinge is stylish. The only flaws are the USB cord broke second time I used it. This phone is used in many asian movies and Jay Chou always advertised it in Taiwan. The value and style cannot be beat as well. Sadly, Panasonic stopped making phones right now but will introduce a new CDMA model in mid-2008. Until then this is the best phone out there; better than S.E. and as good as Nokia's.

This is a good phone The only thing that annoys me is it has no stop watch and i cant put a full mp3 song on it mine didnt break when i dropped it on grass ive dropped it on concrete heaps of times and its only been scratched no major breakages

what u do is you reduce the size of the file of the song and then transfer it to the vs2.u can reduce the file through the use of a motorola phone program but the size of the reduced file must be below 1 mb or else it will say that the file is too large or decoding failed...

I had mine for about a year and a half too. At first it was really good value for money, but then a few weeks ago I opened it up and the screen just wouldn't work. The back keeps falling off too and its easy to scratch.. but apart from that its pretty good

hi, i had this phone for about a year and a half and i must admit its quite a fantastic that was worth its value. However, this is one issue which has caused some concern over recent months. My phone's battery has seemed to grow in size. The battery seemed to have fatten to the point that it has now caused my battery cover to curve out a bit, which is quite noticeable with the battery cover on. Please tell me why its like that.. Does it mean my battery is pass its life and is due to leak out liquid anytime?? Is it a sign of concern?? please let me know if you are in the same situation as i am

The screen on mine cracked, rendering it useless after I shut it to hard. I dont see how this could have happened and I was rather disappointed. But I had had it for 2 years before this and I was very, VERY satisfied with it. A very good phone. I must say I am actually quite sad... I was rather attached to it.

Ive had this phone for nearly 2 years now and i love it! But sadly the other day someone rang me n then just cut out, but the call was still going.. Since then i worked out that the ear-piece speaker is dead. No dial tone, no background noise/static or anything. Just dead. Really sad cos now it means i cant make calls so gonna have to buy a new phone n i cant find one i like as much as this :( I would definately recommend buying it though as long as u are aware the speaker might put out after a while cos it seems a few people have had this problem..

well, i bought my vs2 from my friend..for me it is sort of a cool fone, with a press of a button to open and features like any other cool fone. i fill mp3 songs in it through the use of the motorola program. i reduce the files of the song by the use of the program using my bro's L7 and send them to my fone through the use of a irda connection i have installed in my pc.the camera of the fone is really good.nways if ny1 knows an alternate way of sending mp3 files to the vs2,id be glad to know..........thanks

all you need to do is to get an amr converter, which is the type supported by the phone. with mp3, to get good quality it must be short... i have found out that the song (mp3 or amr) has to be under 300kbs file size, otherwise it wont send it over.

bought this model (VS2) one and a-half year back. Since the date of its purchase, I am having problem with its incoming voice. Without hands-free, I am not able to hear the voice of person at the other end. Also, there is problem with it's battery life. the technical specification states it's battery life of 370 hours and talk time of 6-7 hours but if I talk for 20-30 minutes in a day, I have to re-charge it. Honestly saying, I regret that I changed my mind and instead of buying any Nokia product, I bought this worthless set.

You have to change it to 16kbps to put a full mp3 song which will be compressed to less than 1000kb into ur VS2. But the quality of the song will be not as great as the original.

howdy...i resently read your post "RICK" on putting java games and mp3s on the vs2. ive downloaded all the things youve said but it seems to not work. ill start with the games.... i downloaded all the things from www.howardforums.com/ar and read all the directions they left on it, but when i get into the phone manager, (the one i downloaded from the web page, i think its called usb_MobileAction) it says something like Panasonic_x410. is it something stupid i did or is it the phone? anyway now on to the mp3s. i realy realy realy want to put mp3s onto my vs2. i think its kinda stupid that you have to go though all this just to put a song on your phone but anyway. i downloaded the things you put on and set them all up. i went to convert the songs to the mp3 option but it was basicaly the same as it was before. there are many other options such as change it to wav, frac...etc. it ends up saying that the content is to large. do i have to change it to one of them????? i am also using the phone manager that came with the phone because i cant use the one i downloaded. a future thanks for any help.

I've had this particular model for about 2 years now and the battery has died down to the point in which my cellphone has become a "phone" (plugged in to the wall the whole time). The battery was not the best to begin with when I got it first, having died in just 2-3 days. I would recommend getting a different brand as there are many out there that resembles the features of this one.

i have had mine for about a year and a half and just recently if people try to phone me it comes with the msg "sorry the person you have phoned has the phone switched off" yet my phone isnt switched off. also if people try to send me msgs i sometimes dont get them to the next day. anybody else had the same problem?

i dont think this fone is as good as it is made out to be ! as my fone was a second hand fone it was in decent condition and still worked fine... ive had this fone 4 over 6months and it is still workin fine but some of the buttons are slow and it has started to turn off automatically when i press buttons. i would not recommend this fone if you are not planning to go on a vodafone plan.

This is a terrible phone. It lasted 6 months before it first stopped working and then after repair it crashed again in a month. Lost all my pics and contacts and had to sell it. Resale value is very low too. Panasonic service is pathetic in India and since this phone needs a lot of attention, it does not help at all.

And 1 more thing, to get online with this phone and browse the web etc you will need to install 1 of the many java web browsers available . www.getjar.com is a good free source for free games/apps etc etc . I have found with my vodafone sim card that i can not access wap sites that are not on the vodafone network - (go vodafone live, options, enter address )- doesn't work ... but.. if i install my telstra or optus simcard i can access the wap no worries ??? - must be a vodaphone thing with their sim card setup ? - as my phone is unlocked of networks and can use any simcard.

oh i forgot to mention too , here is the link with the info and programs needed ro unlock your phone so you can install java apps from your pc The sofware required to unlock the phone in that link also comes with the vs2/vs3 file managments program ( as what originaly came on the cd ) .. Great phone , i've had mine for around a year now and only paid $150 for it with the usb cable. I managed to unlock the phone so i can transfer any *.jar file/application into the phone from my pc. It is also possible to have FULL mp3 songs in the phone ( i currentlly have about 45 songs in my phone at the moment ) and still around 50% free memory , and i have pics on it too etc etc ! . If you want to be able to play 'full' - (up to a max of about 9 minutes a song) songs then download 'FreeRip' to convert your mp3's into into 16kbps mono mp3's. Then you will also need 'Mp3Gain' to raise the volume on the mp3's to 105.0db. Both programs are freeware and very easy to use , converting a full song only takes a few seconds. These programs are needed to convert the file to under 1000kb (which is the max mp3 file size). Most adverage full mp3 songs converted take up about 450kb, which isnt to bad considering you have 32mb to store all the stuff on. Anyway , for the features it has, 8/10 from me :D .

I had this cell phone for less than a year and it already broke down on me! I thought it was going to be reliable and it wasnt! It only lasted for 6 monthes or so then the mother board dies! After trying to repair it by cell techs...there was no hope. I really liked the cell. but it doesnt last long. The quality of the pics were acceptable but make sure u put it in your comp right away if u wanna save it because it might break down.

O and to kaz there is a way to play your music without having to go into your fone and keep pushing play. you go into a song mp3 whatever and you go into your options and you can choose to play songs linked or something like that and then you can close your fone and it will play non stop untill songs in folder..are finished. ME and my friends would use this option while walking home from school..lol hope this helped. Also everything you need to know about this fone is in the manual.:D

I had this fone for a year but sadly lost it. :( It worked great the whole time and battery was really good as I charged it at least three times a week and also used it alot!!! i didnt use a usb thingy as i did not know about it..lol but i sent all my pics through email which was really easy and you can send a maximum of about 15 pics at a time. The only mp3s i had were the ones i brought and they played for aroung 30 secs which was cool. The memory is awesome it can hold so much of messages pics etc..the only downside of this fone is i dropped it once and the side thing fell off not the push thingy to flip the fone open but the other thing lol. That was all otherwise this fone was awesome and i reckon it would still be working really well if i still had it. I recommend this fone too all!!!!!!!!! :D

I too have had problems with the ear piece and find the volume drops whilst talking. Other than that the phone has been great. The pictures are good but I need a USB cable to download them. None of the Phone shops I have visited have been any help.

I have been using VS2 for a year plus but the eyepiece spoilt 3 month ago.I sent it for repair but there were no spare parts eventho I waited for 2 months. I would say it's a great phone, except for a few drawbacks. The camera is great. Just that the sound quality of this phone is a lil below average.Changing the main menu icon to ur own pic is the greatest idea!!!However, it has 1 min limit for recording videos. Well, overall I enjoyed using this phone and I just bought Samsung D900. The price is much more expensive but Samsung D900 doesn't have the most basic features and the camera LAGS alooot!! So I will still use my VS2 occasionally. GREAT PHONE!!

For those of you who can only get 5 seconds of music, I KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT LONGER! You gotta have the software! STEPS: 1- Go to "sounds section" 2- Go to "MP3 clip" 3- Select song 4- Drag those little blue pins onto how long you want your song to play for. (located on the number line) 5- Click "update to handset" 6- Done.

yes it is possible to download picz onto or upload it to the computer with the usb, as long as you download the disc that it came with into your computer, and yes you can also download the whole song to your phone, but still the memory is small, thus maybe that is why some of you take forever to put in a whole song...it is better to put in ringtones..

i bought this phone ages ago, and was shattered when i dropped it! i cant find a phone easier to get used too and its a pretty nice design, i found the camera awesome, and it held over 450 msgs! only thing i had trouble with the softwear and putting the pictures onto my computer.

Hey all, just purchased this fone 2day, and am actually quite happy with it...its a lot smaller than i thought it would be, with a massive screen...anyways, i was just wondering if anyone (in australia) has bought this fone on vodafone prepaid? i purchased mine as vodafone prepaid, and was all prepared to switch my number over from optus prepaid to vodafone, but decided to try my optus SIM, lo and behold, the fone isnt actually locked to vodafone at all! :D so now my only problem is all this vodafone live crap on the fone. is it basically just the VS2/Vodafone GPRS browser? Also, is there anyway i can put the sonic game on the phone as the aus versions didnt come with the game? And lastly, is there any firmware upgrades available for this fone? thanks in advance!!!

Hi all. Have finally figured out how to get mp3's onto the VS2. The mp3 has to be less than 1mb. Sooo..need a program to chop the mp3 file down to about a third (under 1 mb). At that point, got onto the internet. Usually i go to tucows.com for downloadable freeware/shareware. Found a number of programs that allow you to adjust the bit rate (32-48) seems to work at a freq 22050. Am currently working with AMRconverter Pro on demo for 15 days, after that its $US19.99. Will post further tips if I find any. Oh, once file is converted to less than 1 mb and saved in a folder somewhere just open file manager in the handset manager software and drag and drop into sounds folder!

that scared me there about the batterys turning big on you. Im not sure if those ppls who have messed up batteries charge their phone alot. I know the phone gets pretty hot when its charging so you just have to be careful about the phone not working or hanging up or whatever the case is. I think the phones reception isnt A+ quality so sometimes it has a hard time going through. Sometimes you call and cant hear the other party. Its a connection problem so just hang up and redial. you can only upload Mp3s on your phone that are like 3mb avg mp3 size. if its over that then you cant becus the file is too big. and you must use the program the phone came with to upload to your phone.

Hey, I found how to get the time and date that each text message was sent. Simple: just press the centre silver button on the 'joystick' when reading a text. Duh - can't believe I could not figure this out but others here have also posted this problem. The instruction book could be helpful on this matter!

I have not tried it but read the instruction book - for example if you see a green light blinking you know that Maria has called, etc.

My wife LOVES this phone and I am impressed also. Fantastic screen, excellent camera! BUT is there any way we can find when a text message was sent - the time and day??? I cannot believe a phone as great as this would be without a basic feature such as the time and date that each message was sent/received. The battery appears to be too small. EXCEPT, that LAST MONTH, not more than 11 months from the time i bought it, the mother board broke and i was told it needs replacement. I got it fixed. hi pete gamlin, the video recording is supposed to have sound. mine does have sound when i record a video. And to those who's phone doesnt come with a cable, you can try ebay.com to purchase one. It's really easy to use and transfer data. If you stay in singapore, u can come to malaysia and get the cable. it's really easy.

I just switched to VS2 from motorola one month ago and I realised VS2 phone got really bad reception. Sometimes people called me million times and the phone just didn't ring at all, yet, the reception bar shows 4-5. It is really bad I kept missed important calls. This is a great phone. Having lots of SE's in the past this phone is a breath of fresh air! The screen is fantasic; the flip action wonderful (no more keypad locks to fiddle with!!); good battery life (we aren't heavy users) - we wanted a small, thin, flip with half decent battery life, a good large screen and a functional phone and this is it. For NZ$265 it can't be beat. We took back a Motorola after charging it 3 times over a long weekend. We love the flashing LED on the front cover to tell you that you have a text or missed a call. The only quirks ... missed call list, call list etc is found by using the side arrows when viewing the listing and having to press the joystick button down twice to view the time & date a text message was received ... but other than those little things ... the best phone money can buy ... highly recommend.

I love my VS2. I got it 7 months ago.It's a really good phone. For it's price,and its 1.3 mega pixel, this phone is a high recommendation. Battery life does tend to be quite low, but I find the more you use it, the shorter the battery life. Other than that, it's an awsum phone. Real easy to text too!!!!Buttons and screen are great

Ive had e vs2 for lyke 6 mths now and yeah i think its a great fone The 1.3mp camera is quite good and reliable when i brought it for my holiday at new zealand. I was able to capture the breath taking scenery to bring home. The messaging features are great . It sure is an sms friendly phone But sumtimes it will jam for a few seconds ..once i had typed a really long msg and when it jammed the whole screen turns blank.............Its sound feature is nt that gd especially the sound recording and video.....But other that that its a good phone for those who are searching for a simple and easy to use phones.....:)

It's a good quality phone. Beats the old Panasonic phone I had (G50, looked good but was totally rubbish). The battery life is pretty good, and as long as I got the data cable I could not only transfer data but charge the phone at the same time. I've dropped the phone to the hard ground for many times and it's still working fine (a bit of scratch though). I'm a cheap budget phone buyer and this phone is easily the best phone I've ever had. I love Nokia but Nokia's budget phone's camera is never so good. I got many comments about using this phone. Most of the people say it's a cool phone. And I like the green/blue/pink flash as well. Also the button which allows you to flip the phone is soooo cool.

This is my first time with Panasonic phone. So far I like it. Comments: 1)It would be better if the alarm for appoinments can be set days or weeks ahead. 90 minutes is not enough to prepare yourself. (i.e. meeting, etc.) 2) Make ring tone a little louder.

I bought my Panasonic VS2 yesterday and it's fantastic. I previously had a Sendo SV663 that slowly started dying on me so I got this in it's place. Really loving the screen size and resolution and the camera is excellent as well as the video feature. So over all I'm very pleased with the phone and would recommend it to anyone. I only paid �49.99 (the same price I paid for my Sendo SV663 a year ago!) so it was a true bargain. The only thing I can't figure out is browsing Vodafone Live! I used it quite a bit on my other phone, but when I try it on this one, it seems to be a "text only" browser that diplays only the text on the portal. Any one else had the same problem? It's obviously not a problem with the GPRS signal. Any ideas, please email me!

Just bought the phone two days ago. My phone had the USB connection cable in the box and Handset conection software on a CD. After loading the Handset Manager program I have been able to synchronise all my contacts with Microsoft Outlook easily and also transfer photos from the phone and download MP3's to the phone. Im still trying to organise the phone, I would like to remove all the installed images and sounds to make some more room but at the same time not lose them. I cant back them up onto the computer because of digital rights management, guess I will just delete the installed images and sounds a bit later on. Im not 100% happy with the connection port being shared for data, charging and headset/handfree. I know you can buy a breakout connector... also the plastic cover for this port is bound to break off in the not too distant future with normal use. I found the MP3 being used as a ring tone to be a little quiet but I will try a 160Kb MP3 as someone suggestted earlier. I would have liked a one touch button on the side of the phone to start voice recording, hard to fiddle through menus to start recording, especially when talking to someone. Overall though, an imense step up in technology for me from my previous Seimens ME45 and its great to have the ability to take a decent photo and send MMS. One final problem for me is that I cant see how to install any java software directley from the PC. Might be a simple oversight on my part.

I just love the VS2. I do not NEED all the bells and whistles that the so called high end phones have. This serves every purpose for me. Love the one hand flip, the clarity of the screen. I have been able to downlaod wonderful ring tones - the only gripe that I do have is the difficulty I am having in finding compatible games. Other than this, I high recommend this phone.

Great mobile for the price, excellent screen, holds 500 SMS fully working Infrared but only transfers upto 1mb this way MP3 ringtones,make sure you fully charge battery when new for longer life from it

Transfering from pc to phone is so easy with its cable, the flip is so strong and it doesnt loosen easily, lightweight, cool downloadable games at panasonic website itself, man, i have nothing to complain about this phone! i rate it 8.999 out of 10!!

I bought this phone recently and it is probably the best one I have used. It is simple to use, and the flip open button is particularly handy. The software and data cable is a great feature, and I have already put 12 MP3's onto it. The camera is of good quality, and the Sonic game which is pre-installed is a life saver for long bus rides. The only real issue with the VS2 is the battery life - it doesn't last as long as a lot of the phones avail at the moment. All up very good phone, and I recommend it to everyone (especially in the pink colour ;P)

To everybody: There's nothing wrong with the phone concerning connectivity! It simply can't accept files larger than 1 MB through IrDA. If you would like to upload larger files, please use a data cable. And Panasonic has its own phone management software, you just need a computer with an internet connection to find it. PS: I have VS3 and it's working perfectly.

I just bought a pink VS2 yesterday on wholesale price, and I'm quite happy with it. Pros: -16Mil QVGA LCD screen -1.3 MP Cam -Comfy Keypad Buttons -VERY Customisable GUI and UI -Fashionable Cons: -Messaging doesn't show details (time, date) -Limited memory (no memory card slot, 32mb internal) -Not very solid -No Bluetooth -Low in volume -Short battery life My Thoughts. In overall, VS2 is worth the money. If you want to listen to songs, then don't buy this phone. The loud speaker is very poor in quality, crackling sounds all over if you play mp3s. The GUI and UI is very customisable, you can change icons in the menu and you can even set about 12 different caller groups! You can also set different message tones for different callers! Everything is under your control. The camera in overall is quite good, but it tends to over expose light sources. The marco mode is switched by turning the camera ring(situated around the camera lens) to the "Flower"(Marco mode) symbol, this I think is not good bcoz u may accidentally scratch the lens. No bluetooth and card slots. This is quite retarded if you ask me, but I'm okay with tht, coz it has Infrared and I'm okay with 32mbs. The pink color version of VS2 that I bought looks very nice, but some may think that it looks like a toy(kindda'!). Though 'toyish', it's still quite fashionable for females, and even for males! (I'm a guy.) VS2 is highly recommended for people who likes to take pics and those who wanna have a better control in GUI and UI. Good luck to you all! To Leonard. To Sharon & Leonard. Better go and upgrade your firmware. The latest to date I think is VF_14. To check firmware version, off and on the phone then quickly type *#9999# . Chinese inputs are pre-installed in VS2 so logically there's no problem. To Ken. Sorry man, it's impossible to replace the casing by yourself for all I've known. Return it to the service center and let them do the job for you. Painting is possible, but colors may be not as even as you would expect.

Hanrik, the only way I could upload photos was through the File Manager. Go to the filemanager, select the photo, and press that phone upload button. Contacts should automatically upload when you open contacts on the computer. However, only numbers stored to the phone, not your sim, will be uploaded.

I bought this phone last week and I absolutely love it. I was a bit worried about buying it after reading the negative opinions on here, but I have found I have not experienced any of these problems. I find the ringtone volume to be perfectly loud, the only time it *isn't* loud is when the bitrate of the mp3 I've used wasn't very high on my computer. Mp3s of 128kbps come out a bit silent, but most of mine are 160kbps and the sound quality and volume is perfect. I have no problems with the thumbnails of pictures being blacked out, and I never have issues connecting my phone to my computer. I find these issues only arise if you close the flip on the phone. The only issue I had at first was uploading photos from the phone to the computer through the photo album. However, I simply just upload everything through file manager, no issues there. I haven't had any issues with the earpiece which I was told was a big problem for some. (Maybe I just have great hearing? :P) I found I haven't even needed to turn the volume on the ear piece up since I've had the phone. I tried it once, but then it was too loud for me to be able to hear properly. The battery isn't a problem for me. The first time it took about a day to discharge, but now it lasts about 2-3 days for me and I'm quite a heavy texter and receive/make several calls, as well as listen to the mp3s. I find though, that my friends in the past have complained of bad batteries on their phones when I haven't had this issue. Always make sure you use the battery until it completely runs out, and always charge it until it's finished. Doing otherwise shortens the life of the battery. I find it simple to use, the screen is absolutely awesome, and the camera is great quality. The only downside I find is it's not so great at taking photos in dim lighting. This phone is great, and if it ever breaks or I lose it, I will buy it again or one similar.

Guys .. I want to know one thing. How do I connect my Mobile to the PC and use it as a Modem to connect to the internet. I have heard it is possible .. But just wanted to confirm if that is really possible. Do I need any special cable for that (When i bought the phone, I got a USB cable to be connected to download files to/from mobile to PC) .. is there anything else that I need? Please advise.

For all the people who didn't know, your phone comes with a 12 month warranty. This includes a 6 month warranty on the battery. If you start having problems go and take the phone back to where you got it and tell them. Instead of complaining online!

Its AWESOME. the cameras excellant, sonic rocks, ive put tonnes of pics and ringtones on it still got half memory left. i bought it for $197 australian BN off ebay. now i buy em for $200, sell em for $400. made over 2 grand. those whinging about not enuff space for MP3's, shut up. buy a MP3 player/ipod. jeez. also if the sounds not up to your standards, download goldwave. it triples the sound. the only question ive got is wat program i need to reduce video files and how do i get games from my PC to my fone?overall i give it 10/10. i've had this phone for bout 4 mths now n overall it's pretty good however the hinges have beeen creaking since the 2nd week i got it.(the flip point) cursor button is oso starting to create problems n has to b pressed hard to scroll down.n all this even though i haven't dropped it b4. the only exceptional thing bout this phone as it has been predocumented is the screen which is cristal clear but the video recording quality however is exceptionally poor for it's excellent screen resolution. pictures however come out really fine in well lit areas but grainy in dark areas.memory is also a weak point thus minusing the fact that it can b used as a mp3 player. sound reproduction id pretty good on the speakers but even better on the ear piece provided. similar to that of motorola e398. backlighting for the keypad however is odd considering the colour of the phone it is in a really ugly green which doesn't suit the phone at all for whichever colour combination chosen. so that's my take on the phone at the moment. word of advice is which is not necessarily to b taken is to research more into it first b4 buying. test it out b4 hand.

This phone would've been perfect for me if it only had memory card slots. 32mb ain't that big if you have a 1.3 mega pixel cam, voice recorder and video recorder feature that demands a lot of room to store data.

After transfering photos to the phone, the photos turn out to be black in thumbnail coz the phone was flip off when transfering data. Try with flip on and the photos will be fine.

Yeah to everyone who wants to know about the battery dying in one day its mainly because the phone has a 16 Million Colour Display. Thats almost better than a laptop screen,which causes the pictures on your screen to look sharp and extra clear. Also if you take a lot of pictures its a 1.3 MP camera, that also eats up your battery like theres no tomorrow. Hope this helps. Looks to be a good phone though, It was $199NZ and I didnt realise that its a mp3 player (DUH) and now its $299 :(

You can transfer MP3's with the data cable it comes with.. The easiest way is to download them from your comp! If you go into My Media into sounds, it automatically stores it into there! This phone is HOT!! I have a pink one! Yay!

Why panasonic phones comes without external memory. VS phone are limited to 32mb only. Overall the phone is excellent for me. Juz the battery only last for one day on average usage.

to the person two post below me, you sure definitely can! But there are some restrictions , like if you want to transfer a video to your phone, the video must be less than 1 minute long. No restrictions on the mp3 but you can transfer around 6 full songs. You can transfer your files (download from your computer to phone- upload from your phone to your computer) via a usb connection and a pinch head on the other end (which is in the box), but this component is varied in the different regions. I got this here in Australia and i think its an infrared port in NZ. Hope this helps =)

Of all the phone i ever used i found this one very interesting. The camera is very clear, it really gives us bright and crisp color with its 1.3 megapixel lense. Even the thumbnails are so clear. The Mp3 tones are really fantastic. I have been using 10 different cellphones of any brands but i found this one highly sophisticated. Where can you find a brand that you can personalize even the message tones. If you are doing something and hear a friend's text you can easily identify them according how you set up their message tone, you can assigned 500 different tones from text messages unlike the other brand which is capable of personalizing ringing tones only. this cell phone is really great. About the data transfer from PC! well its so easy to handle.

for the person below me: to play mp3s continuously u need to select "play in sequence"... mite help. and the camera is friggin awesum. its 1.3mp sheesh.. its a fone not a camera. even so, it is about a fourth of the quality of a decent camera. so if u want perfect pics go buy a camera not a phone

I have this phone for several months now & overall it's decent. It's super cute; has many cute face templates for texting, excellent screen display, great sound quality; overall it works great. But the things that I don't like about this phone is that the camera is really bad~ I don't even use the camera anymore cuz the quality is so bad & the mp3 only play 1 song at time, not continuously. This phone is way better than most phone selling in the US now, but very poor in comparison to most Japanese phone that I've used in Japan.

This fone dont have sound editor. So u got to connect vs2 to the pc everytime to edit a sound. Same thing goes to photos. Video recording should be improved. Games can be transfer to the fone only via wap browser and not pc. So Panasonic should provide more games in PanasonicBox. Ringtones are not loud enough and cant be heard in noisy environment.

i have the pink version but i think the white one looks awesome too. the camera is not so good especially if it says that its a 1.3mp camera... and it should come with a memory card slot, bluetooth and ext memory... but i guess thaha why the cheap price. i think its a pretty looking phone for being so cheap, i've used the nokia 6270 and SE w800 and i like the phone better still cause its PINK and that awesome screen... the inferad doesn't work with another phone for some reason and i don't have a usb cable hat came with it, the only way i transfer songs is with inferad on the laptop.hope that you have inferad if u get it.

Hi all I have jus bought a new VS 2 last week. I am very pleased with the functions. A beauty but just lack of an external memory card and bluetooth. but it can be over come but the USB cable .but the major problem is tyhe ringin tone is too too too too soft.... i have been getting alot of missed calls and SmS. but it has a vibrate and ring together functions likethe nokia. all in all i am quite please with the phone. cost me cheap. aswell..... should consider.....

The VS2 doesn't come with a data cable here in New Zealand. I bought a VS2 from Dick Smiths last week, and it isn't supplied with a cable. I bought my cable on ebay. Cost about $25. Now, what software is everyone using to resample their mp3's, to what format does it have to be converted (ie: layer/bitrate) Cheers

Bought this phone last week. I LOVE IT - so far absolutely no problems. Colour is fantastic, and it's so easy to use, this phones functionability just makes sense. People have been saying the volume is quite? I haven't had a problem, compared to some other phones I guess the ringtone might seem quite, but it's loud enough. The only real problem I've encountered is it doesn't have real tones, which is a pity. But still, wouldn't trade this phone over anything! Recommended

hi, i bought this phone and i dont know how to transfer the pictures on the PC, can someone help me? i've installed the software on the bundled CD, have the phone connected via the USB cable (of course) and what i do is i go to the media menu on the software. i see my pictures on the left, i right click it and then click download. it seems as if it's downloading and it does say "picture downloaded successfully" (or something like that, i dont remember the exact phraseology). but i never see the picture on the right side with all the originally stored pictures (those that came when i bought the phone). i've tried looking for it inside the folder created under My Documents for the panasonic software, but still the same default pictures. they're not in My Pictures either. where the hell does the pictures get stored? thanks!

Hae, 4 the last comment, I'd suggest Sony Ericcson K300i, cos they rock, they r even betta. But this is a pretty sweet fone. 4 the person b4 that, yes, it does play MP3s but onli has 32 MB to store them on, u upload them wif USB from the computer. No it does not have bluetooth.

to answer some of ur questions: -voice records for 3 mins. -i hav half memory left (16mb) and did 35secs of video recording. -it doesnt hav blue tooth (but has infra red) -nz version doesnt come with sonic -mp3s do work but u need a data cable -the speaker isnt that quiet(just turn it up)

i tried adjusting the end time to get the whole mp3 but it could only do a max of about 1min 10secs and came up with a message: "after file conversion. it takes 3787964 bytes to update this file to handset. howeva, the storage space at this location on handset is only 1048576 bytes. please try to reduce the size of the sound file!". i have more than half 16mb of memory left on my fone. i still dont kno wot to do.. plz help

hey. just got this phone yesterday. must say overall its wicked. but there are a few minor flaws i would like to point out. 1 the stuff behind the buttons looks ugly when you use the phone at night with the key lighst on, and it looks bad during the day to. i suggest just turning of keypad lights in the setup options (thats will solve the problem). 2 the New Zealand version of this phoen doesnt come with the preinstalled games sonic or soccor, i was rather gutted when i found out it didnt have sonic. 3 the New Zealand phone is not packaged with a USB cable you have to buy it seperatley ($30.00). other than that the phone is a great entry level phone. consider you dont have mp3s you can store unbelieveable amounts of pictures videos and ringtones. cheers

I used free cd-da extractors audio converter. I sort of figured out what the problem was, when I reduced the quality to 16kb, the compressed format was mpeg 2.5 Layer3, but the phone only supports mpeg 2.0 layer3 or below. So I'm looking for a audio converter that will reduce the quality to 16kb, but still keep the mpeg 2.0 layer3. Do u guys have any idea which software lets you do that? (i'm half way through downloading musicmatch jukebox 10 coz some guy who already posted his opinion reckons it works...it better work)

BTW I use an IR port to transfer files. USB cable may have different filesize limit for all I know.

Yes there is only 32MB of shared memory. Also the filesize for MP3s/Videos etc is 1MB. You can squeeze a 5min MP3 down to 1MB by reducing the bitrate. You won't notice much loss in quality unless you are using headphones. I've even managed to fit several complete episodes of Red vs Blue on to my VS2 by doing this!

Generally a good value for money handphone & hopefully to see more improvement in future handphone. Nagivational button is too small for a guy's thumb. Battery stamina is very very thumb down. Limited ring-tones, games, wallpaper can be download from other server provider. Can't change handphone cover.

ANSWER: Keep the phone flipped open while connected to the handset manager and transferring images, and you will see the image preview properly. If the phone is closed (clamshell is shut) while transferring, then the image preview doesnt show up. I noticed this by luck, since I had the same problem. "QUESTION!!! 32 mb can store approx 80 pics(1.3 mp) if nothing else is inside.bout mp3 depends on whether u wanna compress it using mp3pro or u wanna remain it at original 128 kbit.in my case i was able to store up to 50 mp3s using musicmatch jukebox 10 converter to convert from mp3 128kbit to mp3pro 18kbit(from 5 mb become about 600 kb)magic huh??.not much difference in sound quality since the speaker is so damn soft n the shitest part bout this phone...it simply put in words that i accidently typed into the internal dictionary.do anyone know how to delete words in the internal dictionary of this phone?? n the funny part is that i thought factory installed wallpaper cannot be deleted therefore i chose delete all since i thought it will only delete the stuffs i uploaded inside but turned out it deleted every single 1 of them remaining the 1 i using as wallpaper.n when i access the disc given by panasonic some of the beautiful wallpaper arent inside...what a joke...

For �99 it's superb value for money. The screen is unbeatalbe at anywhere neat this price, the camera is pretty good. You get Sonic the Hedgehog game an ringtones, for something this cheap I can forgive lack of bluetooth and expandable memory. It's great! compare it to the SE S700i, I paid �500 for that on day of release and the VS2 has the better screen...

Whatt�s teh difference between this one and the VS3? In Portugal it only exists the VS3 Vodafone Live, and i have some questions that are making me confused. as pauline hanson would say, "i don't like it". it's ugly, no bluetooth, only 30MB of shared memory, and a flip button that could knock you out if you accidently pressed it close to your head. (although it's about the only thing that i like on this phone) oh, and the screen is quite good as well. that's my opinion anyway. :)

You can choose which colour the illumination should blink when you get an incoming call. Ive done it like this: all boys calling, it blinks blue, all girls red and family green. About batterylife, mine works for a couple of days with normal use before I charge. By normal use, I mean a coupe of conversations daily and a couple of camshots. Not the best batterylife, but this is what I expected since the screen is so bright and big. About the mp3problem, I haven't heard more than 1 song at a time so I can't tell. Will check it out later.

What i mean is: When my vs2 finish playing one mp3, instead of playing another mp3 in sequence, it generates an error then quit the player. While mid, mmf, doesn't cause error, is it my mp3 problem or else? Does any other vs2 user face this too?

I owned a VS2 several days ago. It z really a fantastic mobile phone. The screen is very vivid, large and clear. Im really satisfactory with it rightnow. However, I found a minor proble from it and would aks for your help. I tried selecting a gif image as wallpaper. The result z the animation just play up to the last image of gif file, not repeat infinitely, even though the selected gif file is the preinstalled of the phone. Please keep me advised how to change the setting of the phone so that I can see the infinite gif file (animation) on my best phone. Thank you very much indeed.

I don't notice any problems with rf, but it depends on your carrier i guess. My phone supports chinese, it even has a couple of chinese mp3 ringtones preinstalled and one chinese musicvideo. This is a very asianstyle phone, sonic the hedgehog is fast and fun to play.

I don't have any problems syncing my phone to the computer using usb cable. I don't have the original cable, but notice that the connecthead thingie is same as my sharp phone, so I tried with my usb cable for sharp phone and guess what, it worked fine! But im having troubles activating the infrared.. seems like other people are having the same problem, it remains off everytime i tried to turn it on.

You can store up to 500 sms, never have to delete them again :) I have problems when i sync my computer and my phone. It says that it's searching for the device.. but can never detect it. Anybody encounter the same prob too?

yes, its tri band, it has chinese text for Singapore market and the battery life is good and will last up to 1.5 days for heavy user...for normal average user, maybe it can last till 3 days. This also depends whether you leave your phone on over night too. Its really a great phone with such a fantastic screen display. What more at this price point, it is really a good value proposition. I've just got this phone yesterday. The indoor pictures taken with it were DAMN GOOD...! Outdoor picture quality was slightly above average. The Camera in this phone comes with a 4X zoom as well...! Worth buying if ur looking for a phone with good camera functions...!!! Btw M1 is Mobile One... A gsm service provider in Singapore. :)

It can do video recording by the way and there is 'mms sending mode' and normal video recording mode. I am irritate by the contacts where it shows both sim card and phone memory contacts. Anyone knows how to set to read Phone Memory Contacts only?

this baby is selling for around USD240 in malaysia. according to panasonic customer service, this phone can store 500 messages. the downside is no video recording.

There is infraed for VS2. No limitation of file size on sending items such as pics and MP3 files to VP2. The battery life is amazing, it can last for almost 3 days.

As one of the previous reviewers noticed right, VS2 has no flash for the camera. That is why this phone is not going to be even worth to review, unless Panasonic will bring the price of the phone down, to about $200.

What the heck is going on here? 1.3 megapixel camera and no Flash? Is Panasonic trying to copy Samsung p730 ( reduculous price phone without a flash!) SECONDLY: 1.3 megapixel , even if it has a flash should not cost today more than $250!, because we already have 5 phone models with 2 mp camera!!!!!! Sharp TM200, Sharp 902, Sony k750, Sony w800 and Nokia N90!!!!

This VS2 has got rounder & smoother edges than the VS3 & hence feel nicer in your palm. Personally, I think it is better looking than the VS3.

the only difference i can see from the vs3 is that the vs2 has longer talk time and standby time (even though the battery is the same??!!) but its cover cannot be changed. there is a very slight difference in the width too.
