Philips X710 - User Reviews

  • It really is!

  • LOL too excited maybe jaja

  • As an addition to my previous comment, I forgot to mention to the minuses list: - sadly, no 3G / HSDPA; I am using it quite often as a bluetooth modem for either a laptop or a PDA, and the connectivity is pretty flawless, but the speed is sometimes slow, having to rely only on EDGE as maximum performance connection...

  • I've had this phone for about 9 months and here are my opinions - although it's not a new model anymore, maybe some people will find them helpful. A good phone overall, but I do have some issues with it. What I like: - overall, good build quality; the phone feels solid and I didn't have any major reliability problems so far; - very good battery life; not quite as advertised, but still impressive for me, considering the HUGE amounts of talk time I have to go through, every day; - (pretty) logical and quick access to menu functions, once you get used to it; some customizable shortcuts and other helpful items, which are welcome, although they are below the performance of other competitors; - phone feels comfortable to hold, keys are easily reachable and comfortable; - good functionality overall (but not exceptional); - very nice and bright screen, easily readable even in strong light; also, the outside screen surface seems very durable - I only have a few minor scratches, and I've used it at times in VERY harsh conditions, with dust, dirt etc; - very good camera (for a phone), for STILL shots; unfortunately, not much use for moving subjects; - standard miniUSB connector and no need to install the software in order to transfer files; as long as you have a standard USB cable with you, you can use the phone anywhere as a USB memory stick; - good software suite, easily installed and with good functionality; - (pretty) good sound quality for the music player and FM radio; the wired headset included into the package seems to be of very good quality. What I don't like: - sound quality for phone conversations, especially when using the speaker phone function, is below average; - although the overall build quality seems good, after some months of usage already 2 or 3 keys are not always working properly: they take 3-4 presses in order to work once (possibly, opening the phone and cleaning the contacts could fix this problem); - the phone sometimes freezes / "hangs" when I'm in a conversation and I try to put it on hold in order to answer another waiting, incoming call on the other SIM; you either have to wait for about 30 seconds, or take out the battery, put it back and restart the phone - which is quite annoying; - I would have liked more functionality, for example when working with phone numbers: if you have a number in your call list and you want to add it to an existing contact in your phone book, the only way seems to be to write it down (or memorize it), then go into contacts in the menu, and enter it manually (or maybe I'm not smart enough to figure out another way...); - no separate connectors for headset and charger; therefore, for example, if you're driving while using a wired headset, and the battery runs down, you have to disconnect the headset in order to charge the phone. These would be my opinions on this phone. Overall, I'm happy with it and I intend to keep it, but I would really like to see some improvements to the minuses shown above.

  • Popularity has nothing to do with the quality of a phone

  • Will philips make a successor of this phone with both quadband, hsdpa and camera for video call?

  • Hi there Ls & Gs, for all of you who didn't find it yet to buy this model, go on either of this and you'll have it(I suggest the first option 'cause is more,... how can I say.. without hustle... no taxes on the electronics import and very reliable,.. by tracking no.): www.ipmart.com & www.yesasia.com PS: 1. maybe some of you will say,.. why did i give the 2nd option if is not that good... well,.. 'cause is out there!;) 2. I bought from both sites and i tell you all of this from experience.. i'm at the 3rd philips mobile already! Have fun and,.. enjoy the Philips experience!

  • This handset can also be officially bought in China;)

  • Absolutely this is packed with great stuff.... but where is the marketing team for Philips?????? very poor publicity, very poor distribution network... I cant find even a single distributor for this in India.... If it this gonna be released then I would be the first one to grab this.....

  • hi for all, a small message for all that like this phone, a friend of mine have bought this phone in russia, and in the shop he was informed that this phone is made only for russia region and not for other country so good luck

  • how can i have this phone in morroco , france or spain. i asked and didnt found it, please tell me how

  • I have a great desire to buy this phone. Should I have to think twice on account of poor feature than any other brand?

  • mike..of coz this phone will be at malaysia.. im the one who wait 4 it..

  • Did philips launch this phone in Malaysia?

  • not sure it is able to check email or not, could someone please advise? I love this long life batery but also really need to check email.

  • when does it is available in Bangladesh & how much it' s cost?

  • Philips mobiles are not available in United Arab Emirates

  • 2 SIM active simultaneous of course!!

  • It has 2 GSM-modules: 1- 900/1800/1900 2- 900/1800 So, please, correct the description!

  • I will definitely buy it if it's dual quadband

  • Yes. It is dual-active phone.

  • Is this phone dual sim active or i have to swich between 2 sim cards.

  • There is one problem with Philips, no is 2 problems, they can't make Smartphones, and they are NOT popular, this is the problems.

  • If this phone is to be compared to Samsung C5212, which do you think is better. Philips X710 or Samsung C5212

  • Does anyone know if this phone is available in Philippines? How much does this phone cost. Thanks

  • Everything is good except the very poor navigation key in the center. Always stuck with the "ok" button when I'm not ok (it's a cross navigation key around the ok button).

  • what about the saound of this philips!!!!!!!!!!tanks

  • I like this dual-on sim!! Even so, it could be better if it's a quadband plus umts/hsdpa (some country like japan has only 3g network)-- to make it a "real" world business phone though ;). It would even better if it has no camera at all. Strong battery, dual sim, no camera, quadband + umts/hsdpa, unlimited phonebook and message memory---my kinda business phone!! Make it one for me, Philips!

  • When will Philips release this cell?

  • I love long battery life.....

  • I used to have the Philips 747(my first digital) and it was indestructable,..worked anywhere,... I like the stuff that the X710 can do,..now where do I get one in Australia? Never had anything but problems with other brands,...

  • Philips are business phones in Europe. Most people in europe prefer a simple phone. It is in asia mostly that people look for a multi tasking phone. A phone that does the job of PDA, phone, camera, entertainment suite. Philips phone division has been purchased by China company and so the models are "chinese" as people said. Philips have a funny knack of designs where they give a 2 mega pixel cam and 30 MB memory and no card.. I think right now the company is just trying to create a niche for itself. If you go for a PDA phones you can have phones as cheap as 100$ (chinese models) to about 1000$ and above. But when it comes to long battery life, Only few phones can come close to philips and xenium brand is famous for that

  • I have got one from my friend, the size is like samsung D780, the battery is realy powerful, I put 2sim card into it, and it works around 1week!!

  • There are only two features for Philips phone: Long lasting battery and black colour. That's it! May be Philips market segment is the bussiness men but unfortunately, Philips's design has no bussiness taste as many other bussiness phones. The European design Philips phones have gone, now Chinese style Philips phone is so bad.

  • I would request you to please explain and/or elaborate on your comments. Brick and feature-packed. Please. I'm sincerely interested in this phone. And the only competitor I've found out is the Samsung SGH-D780. Please help me out here. Apparently this X710 is smaller than the D780 and packs more features than the latter one. Thanks in advance.

  • I have used this phone in Shenzhen (China) Philips stores; OMG, it is a brick!!! Philips are usually good in design but here they really made it bad. I was really disappointed. The features are good though.

  • from www.yesasia.com

  • Remus where i can buy?

  • where i can buy?

  • While ill, we have to depend on Philips for health-care products in X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, tomography, radiation oncology systems, patient monitoring resuscitation. And -- by the way -- Philips seems to be the only manufacturer using "Lead-free Soldering Technology" in mobile phones. All that and the huge battery back-up, too ??!! I'm literally salivating over these X710 and X620 characters. When would they be made available in the Indian market? Anybody ready to help me out here?

  • dude these phones are tight own.....better than the nokia N97

  • Are they still making phones ?? geez i havent seen one in years

  • thers's a review about it: the phone looks like N82 and it's reeeeealy BIG!

  • obviously, those who post doesnt know how to look, this is a great phone, it probably has the longest battery life ever made 1900 mAH!!! ur kidding me!!!

  • a few hundred?????????? LOLLLLL keep dreaming brother!

  • Keep try "philips" But still, thers so many cons in this phone..

  • far too big for a candy bar form phone with average specs. dissapointing

  • thx alot XD

  • nice look, smooth design, nice features, dul sim jacket, all impressive, but what about instant messeges, auto screen rotation, vide LCD?

  • Please make it a quadband/hsdpa, Phil...well at least a quadband

  • Nice comment. LOL :)) Very nicely put.

  • Is it compatible with CDMA and GSM as well or just good with GSM

  • Spec from Philips website it's a 1900mAh Li-Lon I can't wait..... I want one

  • 2 SIM? Can it only be inserted for GSM SIM? But not CDMA? Is this a first Philips Dual SIM? I am going to get one.

  • Is it Dual Standby / Dual Talk? If Single Talk only, user cannot get incoming call while online with someone else. Caller will get busy tone and user will even not know that someone tried to reach him. That makes a big difference for business men. Huge battery capacity but bulky & crappy design though.

  • Yeah, battery life is really neglected by some manufacturers these days. I need a phone I can take camping, with no electricity around, take a few hundred photos and still have some power in the battery (I have a Motorola currently, as I can't rely on Nokia or Samsung). This should be a nice one.

  • Now thats power from the battery!!!!

  • it would repleace my UPS :D

  • Is this dual sim-active at the same time?

  • sorry,not 5h... 12h! my badd...

  • forget about the 1900,it`s a li-po! that thing will hold you 5h of talking!! that`s half a day!! i wish i`ll b able to get one for my iphone..

  • 1900 mAh battery? Wow.

  • very nice DUAL SIM phone for talking, the other features are on average.
