really a very good phone to own,i bought it accidentally when i visited a mobile shop and i saw the philips pack there i inquired from the shop keeper about the phone and he told me that he'll offer me a discount on it asit is lying with him and i immediately bought it and i almost kept it as it is about 6 months and when my mobile got damaged i remember it and you will not beleive that it was having 25% charge on it i am using it at present and it is such a nice phone to have one it hs everything and that to of very fine quality be it be sound,video or camera battery is awsome just charge and forget type,thanks philips for such a marvellous product ,thanks a lot.

Got this phone 3 years ago. Flash memory operations have become a bit slow, some of the paint on the buttons has come off, and battery life is a bit reduced, but otherwise it works perfectly. Next phone will be another Philips.

FINALLY!!!!!!! here's the settings: Browser->Wap parametes: Profile name - IP address - your ISP's IP IP port - 9201 Homepage - in Linger time - 180 Connection type - WSP !!! Bearer - GPRS CSD profiles - (optional) - GPRS profiles - Connections->GPRS profiles: Profile name - APN - internet.YourISP.domain Login - wap Password - wap and that's it!!! this thing is a beast!!! (except for the camera...) NB! make sure you have "Attach GPRS" selected as "attached during PDP session" (under Network Settings). otherwise the battery will drain in days!!

I'm using philips phone expecting for it's advertised long battery life. Battery life is good for a few months then afterwards standy just drop down to 5 days. I can say that this is a typical C.... product since philips sell their mobile phone business. Battery quality is very poor.

i m using this phone since 5-6 months,i m facing 3 big problems with this phone,that are::; 1.battary doesnot allow 2 months backup,hardly 15days. 2.night mode is worst ,but in day pic quality is relatively good. 2.colors appearance is low. & sound is bad. 3.video quality is very worst......... my advice to this phone,is that: **it should be thin,stylish,and full of battary.

i'm using 9@9k around half a year its main advantages: long battery life able to chage with any usb cable u find in the office, its hard to break it, its is strong, main disadvantages: its so slow some time u push the button and u push again and its doing two pushs then specially when u have data in your phone, voice quality is worst when talking( but its good with headset), i need some one who tried the x500 if the voice quality is better on x500 so i'll move up to it, battery life is so important that when you have an emergency u will just need to phone not a camera,player,gamer,tv

ffs.. i always have to get all the crap.... provider sees my phone make as "Shenzhen", model "Philips 9@9k". is that normal or is it somekind of replica? maybe you could type the configuration settings in here? no ISP knows how to manually configure my phone :(

WAP settings is automatically provided by my Telecom Provider, so I can use the WAP without any problems. I guess you have to bring yours to your provider. I forgot to add this I like the phone especialy in texting :p cause you can start where you left off But I really hate that the SNOOZE fuction can only be off by pushing the center button while alarming.

I just bought this phone last Dec 30 Its now 2 days and my phone is still on full battery bar!!! I inserted an 2GB PQI micro SD card with songs and played music for more than 1 hour and it still the battery indicator did not go down. I like this phone so much now, except for this issues 1. You cant play music while doing something else like (texting or reading messages), Or you cant play music at the background. 2. Sometimes while texting the space won't work 3. It loads the memory card slow 4. Alarm is quite confusing but adaptable. Thats all for my complains of this phone :D

Should have been deleted this camera. 4.Price is reasonable Compare to Nokia 6310, price is the same but Philips is much more better battery life, speaker, sound, color, memory card. this is the best best best phone. Features are great. Battery performance is superb. No negative things I can say about this phone. The people are complaning about the battery life I am shocked.If you use sms and talk of course the battery wont last 2 months.With avarege use the battery will last around 15-17 days. It has benn tested by me so I highly highl and definitly recommend this phone. People wont buy this phone because pf the brand name. how did you set the Browser settings? there's like WSP, HTTP, CSD etc... ??? i've got APN set and ip as well... even the port but i only get "opening 0/1" message on top of the screen and nothing happens. if i then choose options->homepage again, i get a "connection failed" error ??

For the one who asked about using micro sd card. You need to have folders named "Sounds" ,"Video" (without commas) etc to make phone read files from it. Mp3 files must be kept in Sounds directory ant etc. Well the user interface is fast ant easy to understand, but resolution 176x 220 is to small, and it has 65k screen, graphics is pretty shitty, it looks like the phones we used to use few years ago. Camera is so shitty that it makes me wanna the phone wouldn't have it at all. Before buying it i would advise You to download and read it's manual. Appearance is not as nice as photo looks. In photo it looks quit modern, but in reality in Your hand it won't look like it. Besides that metal stripe is not a so bright like in a picture it's rather yellow-brown. Haven't checked the battery yet (post later). About eq. settings it's true, the sound doesn't change (except bass function makes it a little bit better). For EU people buying this phone there are a few ways to avoid any taxes, just need to check the laws ;]

hehe, never mind. the upper part opened more easily because one plastic notch that held the front in place has been broken in the factory already :o :o bottom half just needed more force and gentle prying.... got the thing cleaned and now it's much better! the dust probably comes in because of the broken notch.... :\ it doesn't push the screen enough for the sealant to do it's job..

yeah. i noticed the same thing with the memory card. the best thing to do would be to copy all the necessary ring tones onto the phone memory and then select Uninstall Memory card from it's menu. if you need to use the card, then just pull the card out and put it back in. but any ideas how to get front panel off the phone?? i need to clean the ugly dust under it. i've taken all the screws off but it seems to be sticking somewhere in the bottom half?????????? HELP!

llisten 8 hrs talktime mean on a full charge after 8hrs of conversation its dead so 4hrs of talktime over 4 days means the battery should be under half......if you charge the phone and put it in standby without using it it will last a month. some people are like oh it only lasts 5 days well if you average 1hr on the phone a day the phone should go a full week on a charge

format the card to FAT32 first and make sure that your card is not bigger than 2GB phone memory sucks anyway... no need to get all exited if something doesn't work related to it.

heeeelp! is there any particular brand of MicroSD used to this unit? Mine cannot read the list on the track (it shows "empty list") even if it has number of songs already. It can detect that there is inserted memory card coz of the icon showed on the upper left corner but when i chose to open the apploaded songs in the memory card it doest show. help please!!!! One more thing, i tried to transfer a song that fits on the capacity of internal memory, the song was successfully transfered via bluetooth. But when I tried to open the song to my unit, I can't find any the list is empty still and the remaining capacity was lessen. please please help regarding the external memory card to use.

in normal use it will hold only 2 weeks! other than that, it's really nice looking and has loads of useful features. like it shows on the screen all the letters that a key holds. so if you start typing "a", it will show on the screen "abc2.." etc... it also highlights the current letter you are about to type. it also has "Emergency" feature which means that you can type 112 or 911 into the phone without unlocking the keypad... there's more, but hell!!!-> i don't have the patience to write them all down..

i bought it from ebay, shipped to Europe. had to pay a little tax, but yeh....it works here. the earphones are crappy sht though and the screen lets all the micro-dust from the pockets into the phone... dunno if i can open it for cleaning. probably will look into it when i can't see the text anymore :) other than that... i fully charged it 72 hours ago. had a little play with it after that(got to know the menus etc..), spoke on the phone like half an hour and the battery bar still hasn't gone down from the full. it won't give you total call time though, just your last calls list. and YOU CAN set a wallpaper. you just need to use the pictures in the "my files->pictures" folder. you can also take pics of people and use them as a CallerID pictures. and why would someone want to change the font and colors when it looks so damn cool already? if the battery lasts as long as it's said, then it's a really great phone. haven't tried the browser yet because the service provider is too damn dumbuser-oriented and haven't put the configuration details on their website. they won't be able to send the automatic conf into this phone... fm function is quite cool too. exualizer should be on "bass boost" if you need a bit better sound. PS! it works really well with nokia's handsfree. it won't ask for somekind of pointless authorization like samsung does. you simply turn on the bluetooth on both devices and input the pairing passkey once and that's it. next time it's only nessecary to switch on the handsfree and you're done! you can even record your calls! how cool is that?

I have not charged the phone since my last post 11 days ago. Today is the first time it displayed the empty battery warning. All in all a good result: 11 days on a single charge with about 8 hours of talk time. Just a little bit short of the two weeks I hoped for, but it definitely seems possible to get 2/3 weeks of standby if you're careful. The Auto Power Off/On helps as well. Good phone otherwise as well. Good feel, good call quality.

this phone has no java, than you'll have to buy the 9@9u or q or w which also have extended batterylifes, however not as outstanding as this 9@9k. it has wap 2.0 browser and thats it, no opera etc. its a us$ 100.- phone, what do you expect ?? same as for sound quality, its not bad, but it isn't high class either and indeed, there is an equalizer but it doesn't work. and the other hand the phone supports bluetooth stereo headset !! ( only in mp3 format ).

Got this phone 2 days ago. I like the phone model and looks, but bought it for the battery life. So far it is not looking very good. I have a 1850mAh battery and after one day of moderate use the battery indicator has gone from full to 3/4 full. I will see how it performs the next few weeks. I don't expect to get 2 months of use out of a single charge but 2 weeks I think should be reasonable. An other minus is the poor sound quality of MP3 over headphones. I cannot hear any difference between different EQ settings (e.g. "Bass Boost", "Hip Hop", "Rock", etc). Calendar is limited to 30 events (according to the manual), this is a bit disappointing. Otherwise pretty quick in menu's, fairly easy to use and decent build quality. But of course the reason to buy this is the battery.

i am using this phone aside from a 9@9u and i am very satisfied with the features / promises / price combination. I can easily use it 4 - 5 days on 1 charge while with nokia and ericsson with features like this phone and same use 12 - 18 hours. the phone is very easy to use, very fast reacting. camera low end. Mp3 players plays any kind of song saved in the formats m4a, wav, aac, mp3 indeed. You can even use a bluetooth stereo headset but than only with mp3 songs. one of the comments is right, you can only save 1 mobile number under one name, but you can also save under the same name a score of other numbers , complete address, email add etc. Of course new addresses can be added to the phone book, however when you open the phone book and go to 'add new', you should press 'ok' and not 'options' to be able to add another entry. I find the battery life simply amazing. I wonder what tweety is doing with his/her phone ? Do you play the mp3 player all day through the loudspeaker ? Warning: in contrary to 9@9u, this one does not play mp3 in the back ground. scandor.

I have this phone 1 months. 1. Design - OK 2. Usage of this phone - I have a huge numebr of questions to developers of its SW. I couldn't work with it comfortable after Nokia. 3. I could not recevie business card from other phones (only from Philips) 4. I could not add phone to existing contact. 5. The battery is 1850mAh it takes 7 days to consume 1/3 of the battery. This phone has really long standby time than any philips phone before. It is not perfect but it is cheaper than some Nokia phones with same function but it has outstanding battery performance. So happy about it.

Hi DJN, I've also bought this "magic" philips xenium 9@9k, but i just don' know what's wrong with it ...'cause the standby is only 4 days maximum in normal use ! i've already done the 3-5 charge/discharge in order to get the maximum out of the battery...and still the same result ! The difference from the regular one is that mine has a 1850 mAh battery, and i don' know if the probleme is the battery, the charger or is somethin' from the settings (i brought it from www.yesasia.com, 'cause they had it first time). I have bought this via ebay and shipped to the UK for about �125 i must say on first impressions, its a brilliant phone with great functions. Not sure about the camera qaulity, although thats not why i bought it. I really hope the battery does what it says on the pack. But overall it 9.5 out of 10!!

Regardless the fact that I used several Xenium models: Xenium 9@9++, Xenium 9@9c, Xenium 9@9d and last one that I still use Xenium 9@9f, I am really impressed. Also my spouse have been using Xenium 9@9++ since June 16, 2004. We are satisfied with Xenium battery life as well as signal reception. Above-mentioned models which I used I sold to my colleagues and friends too. Once when you try out any XENIUM you never even think to change it. Up the XENIUMs!
