thanks for your info--I wanted to buy it for the large battery---but as you say if I cant hear anything on the road then its useless!!all mobile phones available in Asia are made in China and Philips is no exception.

Dear All, First of all I would suggest you, please don't purchase this mobile phone set 9@9r, if you wish to be satisfied with a good phone set. I am very upset with this phone, it made me dishearted. Now I am thinking why I bought this phone. First, I am very much worried about its battery performance. They say about its extra long battery backup, its false. This so called Xenium battery cant go on two days fully, while I dont speak much with it. Next, its head phone sound is very low, in low noise environment, its dificult to hear using headset. When I play song, its head set sound it very low, while I am on road, I hardly can hear the sound. In it's specification it is stated that it can store 30 dialed calls, 30 receive calls, and 30 missed calls, I found it is false. It can store 20 calls. I am very much shocked with its display, pictures on display can only be viewd vertically, not from any side. Tamplates in message options can not be created. Some other options are not acceptable from this costly, so called highly featured mobile phone set 9@9r. Later I shall write more soon.

It's been 3 months i have with this phone, generally i'm impressed by it's battery life, especially being a XENIUM line phone. For this 3 months, all the while i'm using the phone with BlueTooth turn on every single day, even if there's no data or calls transfer. Average calls made out per day, about 30mins, in calls received about 45mins. All these...i'm required to charge the phone 4 or 5 days once. Features? My phone, sold here in Singapore do not support .wma files as it claims- as verified by the little piece of appendum came attached with the manual. How about midi? You know what, i've been a Motorola user for a certain time. And my last 2 handsets are V3x and V6. Midi/Polyphonic files i sent to this phone via bluetooth cannot be played at all! So what do i do? I've tried using SONY ERICSSON to send the same files to this phone...IT READS AND PLAY MIRACULOUSLY!!!!! I've no idea what happen to this phone...hehe...maybe a MOTO hater by itself. One of the bad experience i had, was when i insert a 3G service sim card with protection lock, punched in the correct numbers, the PHILIPS locked...as well as the SIMcard. So i tried using another SIMcard without SIM protection...it works fine. Weird huh? As for the formatting of the MicroSD to FAT, you'll definitely need to have card reader as well as the MicroSD adapter to do the job better. If you try to format the card via USB connection from the computer to the phone...time maybe an issue to you. In my next posting, i shall put my focus more on the camera. Actually i have made a few snaps, with this phone...but not too regularly focused with it's picture performance. So see you guys around huh...! Current score...3/5

whatever flaw this phone may have, the battery life compensates way way more. i love the batt life, superb. if all cellphones would have this kind of power, it'll be harder to choose which ones are the best.

i just bought this hp 2 weeks ago and overall the function is OK.the problem is the browser so slow and when i go to java app like game and email, the hp restarts itself. this problem not happen all the time. about the female calender, i dont see such app in the phone. can someone help me how to install java app in this phone? can i add more themes? by the way, this is my 1st philips phone. @sky, i think the beep is a functionality that lets you know if you're approaching the minute mark of a call. this can be useful if you have a provider that charges you by the minute by rounding off your calls. Does anyone know where i can find the female calendar? i dont think it's included

I have used 9@9r for about 2 months. Overall, I am satisfied (happy without 3G) although I bought it mainly for the advertised long standby time. Pros: MicroSD (up to 1GB only, although I keep a spare 1GB within the phone cover), 'external' speaker produce good sound, USB for all connections, good standby/talk time, as 'mass storage device', relatively cheap @ RM699 w/o MicroSD Cons: does not save new words to T9 in text input Camera/video quality are quite good. Signal reception is average. Other functions are OK. Good buy in my books.

I thought this phone was a masterpiece until I actually got one and started using it. It doesn't recognize Kingston 2GB microSD cards. Upon connecting a call it will emit two quick beeps and when a call ends it will emit two long beeps; I haven't found any way to turn this off. The photo viewer doesn't have any way to zoom or crop images. When using .wav or .mp3 files as phone sounds (ringtone, alarm, etc) the first half-second or so of the file doesn't actually get played. And probably the most annoying feature of all, the phone keeps setting my clock forward 1 hour past what I set it--so I set it for 10:00AM and three hours later when I go to use it, instead of being 1:00PM it's 2:00PM. I have no idea why it does this. I haven't tried any of the bluetooth features yet. Otherwise, it's a great phone and I'm pretty happy with it; I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10. I'm in the USA on the T-Mobile network and it works fine as a phone/SMS/MMS device.

Well done to Philip! I have bought this phone 2 days ago and i really like it! i have a choice of getting Motorola V3xx, but i have made comparison and my conclusion was Philip 9@9r. The function is more or less the same, but it has a more user friendly software to operates. For a non-competitive handphone manufacturer in the industry,Phillip has creates it own name by itself and great improvement has been made. So What should i say more! Bravo! Hope in 2-3 years, Phillip can be a great leader in the market, don't let me down! keep it up!

General impression: I got this phone during PHILIPS carnival few days back. I was quite impressed with the standby time, after a full charge for roughly 2.5hrs. Follows by a call about 20mins...till now 3 days later, the battery scale still holds at full bars. Now the bad part... MicroSD Memory must be formatted to FAT or FAT16 before inserted into the phone. MicroSD formatted with other phones does not work as this phone cannot read its content, even though the files maybe friendly format. Files support. According to the box details and the phone profile itself, it claims that it can "display" WMA files...but in fact it cannot read at all! A2DP??? I tried to pair 2 of my MOTOROLA Bluetooth headsets to this phone, but it cant play music at all!!! Instead i get error messages like "bluetooth music payback not available!" Huh??? Had i got a phone with wrong firmware installed? Otherwise, the rest of the performance is acceptable. This phone is not easily available in Singapore, as most of the other retailers does not carry PHILIPS make due to poor demand. I will post user review on photo quality in next few days.

You can record as long as you want with this phone. If you record on your phonememory the video will skip some frames. A memorycard is recommended.

Combining with BB 8820, both are perfect devices for business user. This fone (hopefully there will be a quadband version) for call and 8820 for e-mail.

Just got my 9@9r and can confirm that it is a great phone :P I could set a MP3 ringtone and the external OLED will lit up when you press the up/down keys on its left side for 1sec.

i just got my xenium 9@9r today and it's an excellent phone. my previous phone was the philips 960 and was way worse than this. - the screen is bright and good but has a bad viewing angle. - the sound is good and loud. - the processor speed of the phone is good, no more problems with typing messages. - it has fast bluetooth without a transfer limit. - camera is good and fast, makes clear pictures and videos. - the external screen can't stay on for longer than 30 seconds. - battery life is very good, i charged it for 15mins and it's on now for over 10 hours and still has 2 bars. - it's a very small handset but a bit wide and long. - the headset differs from the one you can see on some photos. the actual headset has in-ear plugs and a microphone. but as someone else already sad, weird cabling. if you have any questions about this phone, feel free to ask.

Just got this hot remarkable piece of hardware. works great. Just have 2 questions to fellow owners; Is there a way to set the external OLED to run always? Im thinking they switch it off to prolong the batt. life. The stereo earphones that come with it though good quality has quite weird cabling, am wondering how to wear it.

Just bought in Malaysia for RM799.00 The phone is fantastic, first time user and it was really good experience. The SMS is easy from the previous models and the best thing is that it is resonable priced against the features it comes with, the best battery life phone in Malaysia. Only sad thing no 3G, but for the price cannot complain. Go get one guys!

As far as i understand, female calendar is a calendar that could note down the days that user (female) have "problem" monthly. Some usually forget and it causes real problem. hehe.

The last Xenium phone produced by Philips itself is the 9@9++ and that was introduced three years ago. All the later phones have been designed and produced in China and sold under the Philips-brand. So that also goes for this one.

This is a fantastic phone. I have been told that this phone is made on the Moto Razr concept. The main Complain for Moto was that it did not last long, so the put a Xenium to it and called it Philips Xenium 9@9r. Its a fantastic phone, i love it and have been using it for 2 weeks now, the battery is beautiful....looking at all the features it comes with and its a value for money phone. I have used a Xenium previously but it was a basic unit, this one is superb + all the features! I suggest if u are not into all the funny stuff and need a simple long battery life phone, go get this one. Worth it!
