Samsung A746 - User Reviews

  • this brings me back to the time when nokia and motorola were king and i couldnt understand why any 1 would want a big clunky blackberry lol..i had the A747 variant from AT&T, it was my 1st taste of multitasking on a cell phone and having opera mini on it was great and yes i had issues with the mic too. but besides that i always had issues with the photo taking always being rotated upside down, sent it back 3 times bcoz no 1 from AT&T nor Samsung could figure how to make it go back to normal and i finally googled it and duh! it was the volume rocker switch that controlled it the whole time lol... those were the good ol days

  • Phone is not worth bringing home! I have had it for 6 months and have had it sent in to repairs. People say the sound quality is aweful when you are talking to someone. The service is aweful; 2 out of 20 texts will be sent and the others end up in who knows where!!! I have had MTS for 16 years and decided to give Rogers a try.....BAD mistake should've stuck with them. Now I have a crappy phone and a 3 year contract that I am stuck with!!

  • as everyone else says I have a A746 which people say they cannot here me on. It has been in for repair 5 times. Each time they replace the mic. It seems to be fixed for 6 weeks and then craps out again. Now Samsung says that the warranty has expired and too bad so sad. The service depot continues to warranty their work and has replaced the mic twice since the wattanty expired and is in for repair again. Come on Samsung step up and take wnership of this problem. Either recall the phones and admit you have a problem. The easy fix would be to put them in a Nokia case

  • My wife and I both have this phone. We both have experienced this same microphone problem on a Roger's network. My wife took hers in and received a loaner for a few months. Roger's set up her phone on their network as a Nokia 2610, which addressed the problem. For my phone, doing a Reset All through the Settings menu addressed the problem (and it was left set up as a Samsung A746 on the Roger's network). The Roger's Tech Support that I reached by phone were in fact very helpful and the problem was fixed in minutes. I hope it is a durable fix! Something to try for those of you as equally frustrated as we were.

  • Phone has a clunky OS, but I don't really care about that. The microphone reception has been a constant issue and now it flat out does not work at all. I use this phone for only basic purposes of texting/voice calls and I am EXTREMELY disappointed by this problem.

  • I like it ,i think its great- everyone i speak to thinks its great

  • ugly very very ugly

  • This phone sucks!!! Don't buy it ... either I cant hear the person phoning or they cant hear me ... what is the point of paying for a service if the phone doesn't even work???

  • hey, i just got my phone back from repairs and it is still not that good at all, this phone is not good at all

  • Hello all, I was just reading some comments and I just have to agree with ppl not hearing me when I answer my phone. I've had this one since October and starting about a month ago the "problem" started happening.....so of course i called in to rogers and they advised me to take the battery out for 2 mins and put it back in....been there done that and same issue keeps on happening. brought the phone into a rogers store and even the guy working there said the customer service reps at Rogers know nothing. Apparently the problem is a software issue in which they would have to ship it out to samsung....but the major thing that got me was that I have to put down $70 in the mean time while they give me a "loaner phone"....NO THANKS! i'm glad i came across this site to see how other ppl are feeling about this phone. i'm sooooooooooooo disappointed.

  • Gahhh! This phone is mega suckage! Got it through rogers (No surprise there) had it since the summer. A few weeks after people said they couldn't hear me - static, scratchy noise etc. I said "Ok, I'll live with it for a bit, no one really calls me anyway." Wanted to get some sweet Ace Attorney ringtones and I can't set them as the ringer. Went to rogers - they fixed the noise problem but I'm not sure for how long. Maybe I should just get a new phone...

  • yes, the same thing happend with me, i just send it in for repair and i have not gotten in back yet, other people and hear the static,

  • This phone is nothing short of crap. I will never get another one like it. It has gone for repair and something new goes wrong with it. Static, poor signal, speaker problems, missed calls and unreliability are its main problems.

  • I got this phone in mid december and it's had microphone problems for 2 months now. Already been in for repair....not any better. Rogers said deal with Samsung directly. I'll call tomorrow and take it from there.

  • did it's camera rotate or not please answer me

  • I have also had the same micriphone issue within the first 2 weeks of using this phone people i was talking to said they couldn't hear me it was very scratchy and alot of static, i know of two other people who have also had this issue with this phone, it is definitely something samsung needs to work on.

  • I'm having the same microphone problems as the person below. The person on the other end will complain that it sounds like I'm in a wind tunnel and the static is really loud. I hear some static but I can hear them complaining just fine. This problem gets worse and worse and I can't use this phone right now. I'm going to take it in for service. I would really love to drop it off a cliff. I'll never buy from samsung again.

  • I have had this phone for 5 months and has been to the manufacturer twice for mic issues. its my first samsung phone and I doubt I will ever get another. the problem is not Rogers it the manufacturer because they make flimsy phones.

  • Like the iPhone? ;)

  • Well, look at every other carrier in existance. They do the same. If you really do have a problem with limited usage of your phone, just unlock it. I've worked Tech Support for Rogers and know pretty much any company goes between periodic leeching customers and sucking up for all their previous mistakes.

  • Rogers only cares about screwing their customers as long and as deep as possible... this cell phone has no own feature left... all of its features are locked or redesigned so that you always have to buy from rogers... if you go and buy a individual cell phone from Samsung... that would be wise... the phone is good otherwise, rogers sucks

  • I live in central Alberta and have been a Rogers customer for about 3 yrs problem free. i upgraded to this phone 3 weeks ago and at the moment i'm on my second one as i cannot get a decent signal with it. I also have a krazer through Rogers and have no problems. I put the two phones side by side and have full service with the motorola and just over half with the a746. Otherwise it is a great phone, very user friendly with some nice features. but if i can't get service then it is worthless to me.

  • rogers in canada is still selling old old phones that should be recycled, about time they update their site with modern phones.

  • bought the phone today, right out of the box the weight of the phone is balanced. solid body for the phone, flip flop great feature. easy to use and browse it's menus. slow sd card upload with a Kingston 4 gigs. needed to select mass storage in the phone to properly enable quick drag and drop for my mp3s. very clear voice at both ends, con is the rotating camera, it seems to be set to only one way on the camera, so when you rotate the camera, you will have to rotate the phone to see the image properly. as for receiving signals, this phone is great in the underground subway. seems to always have reception even in underground parking. con it is overprice for its features. apart from that great phone. i give it an A only

  • Hey guys you know this phone is flop cuz my sister has D830 the same as this mobile but whats the difference 1. D830 has FM while this dont 2. This has external display while D830 dont Thats it no big deal

  • I agree, i work for wireless tech for rogers and this phone has had no issues what so ever. So what if its not a touch screen and it doesnt have a 5mp cam, this thing is still a tank. If you have the vision package with rogers this phone great for a lot of things including mobile tv, xm radio, and video calling. the more features on the phone, the more problems you will run into. something to think about

  • Because nobody's buying it means it's no good? Maybe because it's not advertised and not all of their friends have it?

  • Got this phone in the Rogers Wireless store I oversee. Not generating any interest whatsoever. There is only minor differences between this and the a706 (which after 4 months of availibility in my store sold exactly 0 units) Samsung needs to step it up. Only the a736 is selling moderatly because of the 29.99 CDN pricetag with a three year video calling deal.

  • What is the video recording size? Also- really nice. If only there was FM radio!

  • wel it lo0ks nice but y is ther a big thing sayin 2mp on the out side its has 2 be at least a 3.2 if thy want to do it

  • gsmarena open this phone ,no know form inside

  • in canada this one in rogers wireless has video calling
