  • How can i update my samsung B5702? because it went something wrong. Sometimes it blocks and i have to reboot. Please write soon

  • This phone have very slow internet. If you are talking about the correct religion, which is Islam, you must use a phone with better internet capacity.

  • hello can i ask about the camera I have preview error?what can I do to back in normal my phone....

  • The flex cable has failed twice in a span of 2 years. Very annoying. Yesterday, the screen just went black. The PC suite is hopeless. Its stubbornly refuses to sync numbers & reports error after syncing the first 64 contacts or so. Downloading newer versions & formatting my pc didn't help either. Sms character limit from the PC suite is set at 140. It doesn't automatically flow to the next sms. It doesn't read sms' from the phone & vice versa. Phone sms limit of 300 is low. What makes it worse is it doesn't auto delete older sms. It just blocks new sms' from coming in. Much inferior versions of Nokias have better feature of this. The T9 memory can store only a couple of new words. The OS for Samsung is very very poor. For the price & caliber of phone, I expected better than this. My honest opinion, Samsung only gave the dual sim function on this phone at the expense of EVERYTHING else. Thats the ONLY advantage it has. I've used a Nokias before, I'm heading straight back to Nokia brand.

  • Its the flex. You will need to change very soon. Test this by slightly sliding up and try the camera again.

  • This phone is so nice but mine has developed a problem.Once i try to use its camera,it is telling me previewer error. What can i do? Please help me.

  • If you ever bothered to read the manual, you would know that you don't need to reboot the phone at all. Just write the number FIRST (or select a contact FIRST) and only then, press the switch SIM button. Is that so hard to accomplish?

  • This model HAS both SIM cards active at the same time. Whoever says different is either ignorant (never read the manual) or a liar. You can receive calls in both SIM cards. I receive a call on SIM 1, pick it up and while on conversation, I can receive or make a call using the second SIM.

  • if you are not satisfy with this phn as you say that you use this phn from last 1 year and dual sim are not activate at the same time try samsung B7722 model the best dual sim mobile phn dual sim activate at the same time

  • It causes by some untrusted applications installed on your cell.First remove it.

  • There is a button on the same border of the camera button that will switch from one to the other SIM. First, write the number (or select the name) we wish to call, then press that switch button and see which SIM becomes active on the upper left corner of the screen. To select a different SIM when you send a SMS, proceed in the same way AFTER you have opened the SMS "Create/write new message" screen. If you proceed like that you won't have to reboot the phone.

  • I have this phone more than one year . The major problem is we cannot use 2 sim same time. By switching off one sim we can use other sim . This is worst option. For our satisfaction we can carry the two sim in the mobile. If we want to use every time switch off and switch on the mobile.

  • Here's how to switch SIM without reboot! This is a trick I learned that's not written in the manual. The easiest way to switch SIM without reboot is to first access your contact list then press the SIM swap button on the side. It works and you see the SIM switch on your display!

  • No sound is coming when I make incoming and outgoing calls by Sumsung IMEI mobile phone. What is the problem and how can i fix it

  • does this phone really have pdf reader? and can you write text messages while listening to its music player? im looking for the best dual sim phone. Your opinions count! Thank you!

  • yes

  • Yes, the phone has dual standby function. And the max amount of SMS in the phone is 300. And still microSD card can't be used for SMS archive storage.

  • is this dual stand by?

  • i need to buy this phone. i jst need to ask about its max sms memory cuz i had samsung d880 it only allows 200 max msgs memory without any availability to choose memory card for messages. plz help me with this, can we use memory card as default memory for sms & the max limit?

  • You have a button on the right side for direct switch between SIM cards, no reboot :)

  • Mobile is bad because it does not contain programs and is not running sound clips sent from Mobiles and other images also

  • Você não precisa de reiniciar o telefone para troca de chip para fazer ligação, basta selecionar o número que vai ligar e apertar o botão que está ao lado acima do botão da camera, a luz led ´brilhará em cima do chip escolhido 1 ou 2.

  • Is this phone discontinued?

  • Read the Filipe's answer on 25th commnent page. Cheers ;)

  • I notice that changing to a second or alternate sim for use in making call or sending message, the phone must have to reboot. Is it not possible to have a direct switch to the alternate sim without rebooting such as in samsung C6112?

  • "Ghost SMS tones" - check if you have any SMS message in draft. This always triggers the SMS tone on my B5702. No message in draft, no fake SMS ring. There seem to be a few technical issues which appear in some phones, such as mine. Words added to dictionary usually don't last. At least when switched off they're gone and need to be added. We gotta live with that. Tip for videos - use Samsung New PC Studio software for easy and free conversion to compatible video format. To view in full screen mode press the hash key during playback (# key).Cool features are the fully customized tones for calls, alarms and SMS, you can use any MP3 you got saved! Enjoy

  • I've noticed the following 2 problems in my 6-month old Samsung B5702: 1. sometimes (several times recently) I get the sound of an incoming SMS but it never appears anywhere 2. some words I've added to the dictionary disappear after some days and I have to re-add them repeatedly Does anyone know how to fix these problems? Thanks

  • How can i set diferent ring tones for ich simcard?

  • Its a very good fone.I'd bought it from Dubai For 100dhs.That is 12,000/- inr. Very good fone,if available in ur city then go 4 it !

  • HI, am confused of what to do , i need some help if any one there can, i need to install Abible application and Advanced English Dictionary but have fail even i don't know where to download them from.

  • Just read one of the last ten replies :)

  • How do i toggle between two active sim cards? seems it only takes in the default sim card.

  • I answer your question on the posts

  • after pressing numbers and before dialing press side button for choosing your line. in sms , after writing sms body and before press send key , choose your line by the side button.

  • just select the number on the phone book and press the side button hat you were pressing before otherwise by pressing alone you will encounter the settings that will make you reboot

  • i've bought a phone of this type since about 3 weeks and,it proved to be very good, But ( it is very very slow in it' response, even in writting letters during search of names in the phonebook. how can i treat such a defect.thank you

  • Go to the phonebook and now press the button at the right side.

  • I have recently purchased the B5702 dual sim phone. All the info I read before buying said that it was possible to switch between sim cards quickly and WITHOUT REBOOTING. How do I do this? If I press the button on the side it brings up a menu that says: NETWORK Sim 1 Enable Default Sim2 Enable Default Sim 1 is the default, and both cards are enabled. If I change the default to sim 2 it reboots. I am supposed to be able to change without rebooting....so how is it done? is there any program to solve this problem?

  • Read the posts... This issue has been explained before.

  • Nice phone, but had to return due to speaker sounding distorted. Tried 2 different phones and both the same. Shame as it was a nice phone. Dual SIM phones are rare, especially with Quad band on both SIMs. Perhaps Samsung can improve.

  • After reading the entire thread of opinions from the last page to the current page, I have not found anyone with a similar problem or solution to my problem. The phone will begin the download process and then a second later it will cancel the download and display the message [ Invalid JAD descriptor] I initially had downloaded the Opera browser and it worked just fine but I accidentally deleted the application and now Im trying to download it again but there is now a problem with the said JAD descriptor. What went wrong? Please help!???

  • You can access the reject list in Menu-Settings-Application Settings-Call-All Calls-Auto Reject-Reject list

  • The same thing happened to me. I bought 2 devices. I had to sell them because of this problem.

  • i put a number in reject list and now i can not remove it from there because i don't have a rejected list, and a friend of mine have in a samsung d 880

I love this site. GSMArena is great, i just believe that it would be so much better if there is a way to recieve replays notifications to your email account or something like that, you have to enter again and again to check if you've recieved an answer. • Good mobile. The only problem is the hard and noisy keypad....it sores ur fingers.

  • its a beautiful phone

  • I bought this phone in May. As amazed as I may be with its possibilities in the dual-sim spheres, the phone started shutting down on its own not even 3 weeks after purchase. I took it to a Samsung center and they changed the software. The same thing ......above is the comments of another user but i face the same problem...it starts shutting and restarting itself...i dont know why

  • I bought this phone in May. As amazed as I may be with its possibilities in the dual-sim spheres, the phone started shutting down on its own not even 3 weeks after purchase. I took it to a Samsung center and they changed the software. The same thing started happening about 2 weeks ago - the phone shuts down on its own (regardless of the battery life). I'm planning to take it back and ask for a refund. It cost me 450 US dollars and I can't believe this is happening. Very disappointed.

  • Hi there. I just got the B5702 as well. I am having trouble calling with both sim cards. MY SIM ONE SEEMS TO BE ONLY ONE THAT CAN MAKE CALLS as I am given an option of choosing which sim I want to make the call from. Pls help

  • I'm using this phone now as the successor to my Samsung D880 DUOS (which I still own and use as well!). As somewhat of a "GSM power user" I require quite a few phones around me to use with all my SIM cards. The Samsung DUOS phones have made my phone experience a lot better and easier. Regarding the B5702 I can say that I like the design very much. The metal finish and feel is superb, and the phone really looks and handles as such. The features and performance are everything you can expect from Samsung, and there are no negative sides to it that I can think of. It is too bad that these DUOS phones still have not broken outside of the niche market, because I think many GSM users would appreciate the advantages of a Dual SIM phone if only they were given a chance to experience the benefits. So here is my 2 cents in case anyone reading this is still wondering whether or not to buy one: give it a try and you will be amazed!

  • You will need to create a .jad file (a text file with metadata). search for something called jadmaker, which will sort you out! Some .jars come with .jad files already, so check where you got the .jar from originally.

  • Guys, can anyone help.... I am on my third handset from the retailer. first two went back because the t9 predictive wouldn't remain as default. Third handset is the same. Retailer now changed their tune and saying it's a "characteristic" of this phone rather than a software flaw that the T9 always defaults back to Abc, even when navigating throught the sms ie, including an attachment etc. Personally I find it hard to believe that Samsung would take a step backwards in their software development. Can anyone with same phone confirm or deny this. It's driving me nuts. The phone is brilliant in every other way (I also have the c6112 and c5212, but B5702 potentially the best in my view) Any help would be appreciated. thanks stv

  • Hi, Do a google search or go to and download...

  • thank you rafa3L appreciate your efforts but for some reason, unlike every other phone i,ve had it won't stay on T9,always reverts back. May be a software/firmware issue. Back to the retailer I think. Aain, very thorough Rafa, thanks for your help

  • Hi Stv, About T9 predictive/ABC/123 input method for SMS and MMS: As far as I know, on the B5702 your last used 'input method' will be your next default text input method. You can select your input method while on the message screen by entering menu Options/Input method/.... OR While on the message screen you can easily use the */ArrowUp key as a short-cut key anytime when texting: -Press and hold the */ArrowUp key to choose your input method T9 or Abc -Then while texting, press the */ArrowUp key to alternate between upper-case text/lower-case text/numeric input. On the top right-side of the screen, you will see your currently used input method and if its in upper/lowercase or numeric input. Hope this helped...

  • Hi, There are NO downloadable themes on the web...

  • So need to change the default text message language from T9 to ABC. HELP????

  • Hi i whant to dowload themes in my B5702 hw can i do it.

  • Hi i whant to dowload themes in my B5702 hw can i do it.

  • This is the best dual sim phone by samsung. Really a nice piece...A bit expensive but...worth of it....

  • rafa, thankyou for your response. Took delivery today of b5702 and the contacts can indeed be customised as you suggested. One more question if i can, Is there a way of having T9 predictive as default text input. Currently having to change manually every time i compose a new text, or indeed navigate within text message ie, if i attach an item to sms the format goes back to Abc. Very annoying. Any suggestions would be appreciated thanks again stv

  • The battery needs formatting (charghing 14 hrs first 3 times?)

  • Please can you send me the English version of operating manual for Samsung B5702 model? I bought it recently but it dose not contain English language manual and i am finding it so difficult to operate. Thank you.

  • is posible to install spanish ,,thank u [email protected]

  • Hi, i have a Samsung B5702 and i want to know where and jçhow can i get the spanish T9 on the web, as my phone doens´t have it as an option. Plus, i want to know if its possible to put the music player in background, and how to do it, so i can listen to music while doing something else. Thanx!

  • I´ve seen here that i could listen to music while navegating throu the phone opctions, such as sending sms, adding a new contact, etc. The thing is that i don´t know how to do this. Is there anything on the configuration i must change? ´Cuase when i open the music player, the only way to go back to the main menu of the phone is by clicking to go back, and that stops the music. I´ve had a Samsung F250, and by doing that music kept playing and i was able to do some other stuff. If someone could give me a walkthru to achive listening to music and doing something else, please contact me ([email protected]) Thanx

  • Hi, I've used this B5702 for more than a month. Whenever i am call and the phone slider is off, the call automatically turns off. what do i do?

  • Thanks a lot for the fast answer, i´ll try to update the firmware, and yes, I only want the Spanish language, my father use this phone and he don´t know other language than spanish.

  • Hi, Check your firmware version by typing *#1234# All firmware versions have English language. For Spanish language your firmware version should have country letter code B5702XE???, B5702XP??? or B5702XX???. I have also been looking for latest firmware for Portuguese language, but have not found it available on the web. However, many firmwares have menus in european languages and if you only want the menus in Spanish (without Spanish T9/dictionary!), you can update to latest firmware B5702XEIK1 (November 2009). Google around for B5702 firmware or go to (well organized site) or (German) for firmwares. Here you will find firmwares, flash programs, flash tutorials and special data cable needed for flashing the B5702 (the shipped samsung date cable will not work). Remember you have to be aware of the risks of updating your firmware by yourself because you may brick your phone and void warranty if something goes wrong...!!

  • hey thanks for the website. I'll take a look around there.

  • Who knows how to change the firmware of this phone and where I can find a firmware with spanish language?? thanks... Jaime

  • YES, I know how, but my phone doesn't have spanish, only english and 7 middle east language......so, how can I get the firmware to set it to spanish? thanks a lot for the other answer...

  • Hi, To change your B5702 phone's language, go to...: -- Settings/Phone settings/Language. Depending on your firmware version, you should find spanish language.

  • Hi, I haven't tried the C5212, but the B5702 contact fields should be the same. So yes, you can personalize your contact with a specific ringtone, image, message tone, etc...

  • Hi everyone, who know how to set the phone to spanish???.......(please help) thanks

  • you can buy these phones from amazon.co.uk

  • Hi, wonder if you can help. I have a c5212 duos, on this handset I can edit a contact and "add details" to the contact, including a specific message tone for this person only. can this be done on the b5702 thanks

  • Hi Cherri, The SIM-card selection on this phone has been explained on previous posts. However, its seems confusing to many people, but its really very easy. Try these steps to start until you get used to it...: 1- Type a number to dial, or select a number from phonebook or text a message... 2- Now, select the SIM to use by pressing the SIM/Network key on the right side of the phone. You will see the SIM/Network icons being highlighted as you select which SIM to use. 3- Now press the call key and the phone will dial using the SIM-card you previously selected... This is Samsung's approach to manage a dual sim phone. Some Chinese unbranded phones actually use two dedicated call keys, one for each SIM. So remember...: -The sim selection key is "contextual", and will only change SIM when needed. -If you press the sim selection key on phone's main screen, it will try to change the phone's Default Network and will then power off/on, which is not what you want. Regards, Rafa3L.

  • does anybody know where i can buy this in canada or philippines? • the best way to install new app: 1 - get the app (jar file) 2 - get jadmaker program and create the jad file 4 the jar witch u want install 3 - copy the jar and the jad in same folder, and up to the phone. 4 - run the jad from the filebrowser of this phone 5 - the size of jar doesnt matters, there are some tricks ;) Remember that this phone dont support 3D games. oonly supports MIDP2.0

  • I mean that only u can access the sms (not mms), to read or write one. U can make a new call, acceding to contac list, but the main menu is unavailable, so u cant open java games and apps, take pictures, browse inet, browse your files, or make some configuration while taking a call, its more notorious when using free hands or speaker.

  • thank u very much for your help but you said when talking the menu is unavailable, does it mean that i can't reach to contacts or anything in the phone during the call?

  • you can transfer your pictures by copying it to your sd card. then transfer the pictures from your sd to your computer. that's how I always do mine so I don't carry any cables with me. hope that helps.

  • 1 Yes 2 You can heard music while taking pics or writing sms or playing games note: when you are talking the menu is unavailable, only can send sms

  • Hi community! I am from argentina (sorry 4 my english)and bought this phone too. Its amazing in overall. The size of jar can be changed if u enter in javatest menu *#52828378#. Other issue its that can be easily reached the limit of number of files in the phone's sd filesystem. I have only used a half of my sd memoru card, but I cant store nothing more. in the card are 7691 files. The sd card is fat32. Your cards in wich format are? When Im talkin I was unabled to access the main menu, its a bad idea dont allow this. In my old nokia 6101 or Samgung E356 its was possible. Because i use the hads free and cant take pictures for example while talking. Other issue is that more themes are not available. There are only three basic themes. Can be possible make own themes by some sofftware?? or download them from somewhere? regards

  • Yes Im from argentina and my b5702 has spanish language.

  • Please a need to know if this phone has the option to set it in spanish, thanks...

  • Information being FM radio with RDS-ST is not correct. I just bought and the radio is simply FM.

  • Hello everyone Are there any themes for this mobile ?

  • Hi Smail, Go to... -Settings/Aplication settings/Call/All calls/Auto reject -Select Reject list -Select number(s) to delete -Select Options/Delete/...

  • Hi, do nyone knows how to remove a contact from the reject list on B5702 ? thanks

  • Hi all, does any of you know (and can share here) a step-by-step recipe to load/install additional apps to this cell phone, the GT-B5702? Answer here or at mazudan-at-iit-edu would be greatly appreciated. I simply don't see, how it can be done. No jar file can be run from the folders, the "New PC Studio 1.2.0" has no feature to install apps as far as I can see. Below I read that .jar and .jad files are both needed (although the latter is generally not supplied in web downloads), but even if I had them I have no idea, what to do with them. Can anyone help please? Daniel

  • Hi Luis, That's a clever approach and solution. I will keep it as a valuable tip too.

  • Hi! Thanks for your tips, but meanwhile I've solved the problem. I created a "Night" profile, recorded a clip of 2 sec of silence and chose this clip to be the sound of all incoming calls and SMS of that "Night" profile. At the same time I added to the Family Group all the numbers I want to answer while on "Night" profile and chose an existent melody for this group. So, whenever the phone is on "Night" profile, only calls and SMS coming from contacts of this Family group will produce any sound or vibration :)

  • Calling all experts on Samsung Phones.... Can anyone HELP with Samsung's "secret codes" or any other low-level way to program the Samsung B5702 and change the following parameters...? -Change the current limit of the 15 frames of GIF files on the phone's Main Screen. Currently the phone's Main Screen will only play a maximum of 15 frames of any GIF file that has been chosen as a Wallpaper. This means that GIF files with more than 15 frames will be interrupted and will not be completely displayed. -Change the intensity of the network's Blue LEDs (At night these are too bright...) -Change the blink frequency of the network's Blue LEDs. Regards...

  • Hi Luis, With the B5702 and under APPLICATION ASETTINGS, you can: -Create an AUTO REJECT list of individual unwanted calls or activate rejection of unknown calls. -Block individual numbers from receiving SMSs and MMSs. AS far as I can make out, you cannot creat a personilized PHONE PROFILE with scheduled options, as you described...

  • Hi Hamad, You can store a maximum of 300 SMSs on the phone´s memory.

  • Does anyone know how to filter incoming calls in this phone, so that during a certain period (ex: during night)only incoming calls and SMS from "authorized" contacts produce vibration and/or sound, all the others producing no sound or vibration at all? Thanks

  • can anyone tell me how opera mini works on this phone n how to download tht software

  • What are your Profile settings for ATT?

  • hi, can anyone plz tell me how many messages you can store on the fone as i want to buy this phone but salso want to be sure if it can store max messages like nokia does. thnx.

  • B5702 Hi! Does anyone know how to change search mode through phonebook? When I press Phonebook and start searching contacts, it will only show first letters of first names (or last names if you define it), but never both. I know that I can enter the phonebook->options->search->name, but is there a way to do a generalized search right from the beginning? Cheers!

  • Using on AT&T and T-Mobile in USA with no complaints, except that voice mail alerts from both systems are obscured by the "locked" banner on the bottom of the screen. To see if I've missed any calls, or have waiting voice mails, I must unlock the phone. Any way around this?

  • I have this phone for 8 months and absolutely love it. Very strong build, feels pretty solid and even survived an inmersion. No complains at all, I would love to have a version with HSDPA.

  • Hi Sh.M, If you google around, you will find general "secret codes" for Samsung mobiles. I have found these that are claimed to work with the B5702: *#06# show IMEI code (this one is famous...) *#1111# S/W Version *#2222# H/W Version *#1234# Firmware Version *#92782# PhoneModel (Wap) *#0228# Battery information *#4777*8665# GPSR Tool #*3888# BLUETOOTH Test mode *#7465625# Check the locks *#0673# MP3 test mode *#0842# Vibration Test *#52828378# Java test menu *#0206*8378# Test mode But be VERY CAREFULL when trying these codes and USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!! You may change your phone´s default behavior unexpectedly, or probably brick your phone... I have tried the *#0206*8378# Test Mode, but have not changed any of the displayed values. There is an option for H/W test --> AUDIO SETTINGS, where you can see the default audio values. However, there are many acronyms and abbreviations for the displayed values which are not easy to decipher... Please understand that I am not a Samsung technician and will not be able to help you. So USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

  • To install java applications you need both the jar and jad file. And, even if you have both, they may not work for this mobile phone.. indeed some applications do not work on this phone. However, you should be able to find on the internet compatible versions for almost all the java applications. Symbian software is not supported on this phone. I do not have any experience in sending business card with a mobile phone.. and in truth I don't understand what you mean.. I am sorry.

  • hey im not able to download any software from the net into the phone thru the cable.......whether its java based( as for samsung) or symbian.....the phone doesnt accept any kinda software.....it doesnt run the application....especially dictionary n stuff......2ndly im not able to send business cards....its simply sends an empty message without the contact info acttahed.....and im not able to retrieve business cards....can any1 help?

  • How can this phone have been phased out when it has never been released to the SEA region in the first place?

  • This phone has been phase out. No shop is selling in the SEA region because of some untold "reason". Even you manage to get it, nobody is able to repair or fixed anything. Just let it go.

  • I WANT THIS PHONE!!!!!but not available in my country..huhu...Buy online??I'm afraid being cheated plus..i didn't have credit card(personally)

  • Dear All, I am looking for the following code to improve my cell Phone: 1- Increase the Loud of the Phone 2- Checking the Battery Charge Percentage 3- Test the Phone 4- Any other applicable Code for B5702 I did buy this phone yesterday and would like to use it with complete performance. • Hey I wanna purchage B5702 or B5722. Can anyone plz tell me your experience. whichone should I go for.

  • Can i know where to buy B5702 ? I am staying in South East asia. How to claim warranty if something to the unit ?

  • Hi Ivan! Can You please explain how to activate/enter those codes you give us. Thanks in advance.

  • Don't expect the document viewer to be the greatest tool you have ever had... Anyway, it works.

  • Yes, it does support mpeg 4 videos (mp4). But it supports them only within some specific values of the video's compression settings. So if are not able to play a video you shall re-compress it using supported settings. For instance you may use Format Factory (which is free) and use the following settings: Video: Mpeg-4 Video Size 320x240 Frame Rate: 12 Bitrate 247 Audio Channels 1 (mono) Sample Rate 8000 Sample Depth 16 Bit Bitrate 12 Kbit/s Notice that also different settings shall work. Those reported here are probably conservative.

  • i read the spec it got document viewer.for those who had this phone..is it really true?is it good?

  • Sorry - re Vodafone settings - this is for Vodafone UK. Colin.

  • Can anyone help with Vodafone internet configuration settings for the B5702 ? It's not a Vodafone supported phone, and although they have tried to help by giving me the settings for other Samsung phones, none of the menu options/settings seem to match the B5702. Thanks, Colin.

  • Got this phone on the 22nd March,great phone feels solid,nise sounding headphones,great battery life,wish i had two of them,I also have a Samsung S8000 jet,Samsung RULES.

  • Hi, Is this phone don't supporte the mp4 video ? becuse I couldn't play this vedio clip on main so any answer or help can helpfule many thanks for you all

  • i use the phone and its really great ...

  • Regarding volume level, I can tell you that I actually used the same mp3 file on both phones, and that there was no audible loudness difference between both phones. I can also tell you that I didn't use a DB Meter to measure sound level... Like I said, overall audio quality is better on the C6112.

  • i have c5212 and i wanna shift to this one i knew every difference between them except which one is louder in ringing tone,is b5702 is louder than mine or the same level?i hope i could find help here bye

  • thanks for that Rafa3L, most helpful. just been looking at the B5702 and comparing it to the D980. will see what deals i can get

  • r u sure that the ring volume is the same?in other words did you try to transfer a mp3 tone from ur phone to c6112 and heared it and compare the loudness?

  • thnx rafa3l you did good effort for me god bless you

  • With the B5702 you cannot have different wallpapers for each SIM... I know that with the newer C6112 you can personalize each SIM with different wallpapers/GIFs. Enjoy!

  • Hi Mohamed, Today I had a closer and better look at C6112's audio capacities in comparison to my B5702. -For call quality, ring volume and earpiece speaker audio quality, I find both B5702 and C6112 the same. -For hands-free calls, Media Player and music listening on the phone, the volume and sound quality of the C6112 is in fact better, as a result of its dedicated loudspeaker and advertised DNSe sound feature. So I agree with you, the C6112 has better audio output.

  • for 5 months of exploatation , i just can say that i done a good job when i get this phone .

  • bad

  • I'm not sure if i got the question right... but if you're talking about 'silenting' an incoming call YES you can. Just press and hold the DOWN arrow button on the volume control unit (left side on the phone).

  • Yes, you can set default tones for each SIM for both ring and SMS, but I don't think you can have different wallpapers. It is obvious from the icons which is the current SIM though anyway.

  • can we set a profile(call tone,sms tone,wallpapper)for each sim?

  • Yes, you can install java apps into this phone. You need both the .jar and the .jad files. If the .jad isn't available, there are several utilities around that will create them. One is called JADMaker. It's homepage was but of course that doesn't work anymore. Copy the files onto your phone. then go into the file manager and click on the .jad file. It will then ask you if you want to install the app. Once it is installed, you can control the security for each app separately. Hope this helps. I have found a few programs to try from here:

  • No, this phone does not have a flash.

  • Please note, I have added a 16gb SanDisk Micro SDHC card to this phone, and works without problems.

  • I already get the B5702 month ago. is it real that i can't ( Silent ) the mobile when a call is ringing. usually I can ANSWER or REJECT or SILENT to disable the tone with our reject the call. is this option not available or just i can't find it. ??

  • Someone asked about the handset volume. I just received mine, and the volume is very good. I'm hard of hearing, and this phone is plenty loud enough for me. PS also works fine with T-Mobile and AT&T in USA

  • sorry rafa3l for bothering, but u said that u tested c6112 and compared it with ur b5702 so whats the problem to compare the ring volume between the 2 sets again?pls do it for me waiting the result

  • Mohamed- I can't confirm that specific information. Maybe someone can help you there. ------ Rafa3L

  • but someone tell me that there is great difference because c6112 has dns chip, what you say man?

  • Mohamed - Yeah, about the audio quality: Both phones have similar and good enough audio output. ------- Rafa3L

  • thnx rafa3l for your help you make good effort here u forgot to mention the audio quality,is there great difference between them?

  • to Mohamed: I had a look at a friend´s C6112 yesterday, and I can say this... The B5702 and C6112 are very similar, as you can see if you compare the 2 phones at this site. These are some of the points I consider relevant. Battery power: The B5702 has a 1200mAh battery, whereas the C6112 has a 960mAh battery. You will get more power, longer stand-by and talk-time out of a 1200mAh battery; but remember battery life, in practice, depends on the use you make of the phone. Network frequencies: The B5702 is quadband on both sim cards, whereas the C6112 is only quadband on one sim card. (This may be important if you travel the world). SIM Management: The C6112's sim management is far more practical than the B5702. You can easily change sim network anywhere on the phone, with the side sim selection key. You can personalize each SIM Network with different wallpapers to know with which network you are on. The B5702's sim management is not as smart, and you can only select/change network if you are within phonebook contacts, call log and sms/mms writing. Display: The B5702 has a true TFT display, with clear colour and picture, at any angle. The C6112 has a TFT/LCD based display, which makes it more difficult to see/read the display if it is held sideways, from about a 45º angle. Camera: B5702 has a 3.15 mp and better camera. Aspect: The B5702 has a more robust look and also 'looks' heavier. The C6112 feels more comfortable and has a smoother slide movement. Price: In my country, the C6112 is cheaper than B5702. The B5702's price has also dropped, but is still more expensive. If I had to choose, I'd go for the B5702 because of the display quality and camera resolution. But then the choice is always personal.. -------- Rafa3L

  • No, it hasn't. If you want you can change the ISO settings.. If you grow the ISO your pictures will become lighter.. however it is not the same of having a flash (there will also be more noise on the photo).

  • does this phone has a flash?

  • Read the posts 1 month ago.

  • I recently got a Samsung b5702. I want to install some Java applications in it. Is it possible to install applications/games into b5702 using computer and data cable? If yes please tell me the steps!! Thanks in advance!!

  • thanks rafa3l for replying as a general which is better, this phone or c6112 because iam hesitated between these 2 sets

  • You ccan put on/off the sim LEDs at Settings>Display and light>External light

  • Mohamed, I find the volume of B5702 to be loud enough, even under noisy enviroments. I don't have at it maximum level and I don't miss any calls.

  • thnx rafa3l for replying many users here sayed the ring volume is low,is it true man?

  • Hi, There is an option to to turn on/off the blue network LEDs. As to the WAP browser, its by Access. I think it allows smooth browsing, as far as EDGE speed is concerned. You can set a 'virtual pointer' like a tiny mouse cursor and move around the page with the phone's navigation keys. Other usefull options are Set page size, Page Pilot (a sort of thumbnail view of the whole page for quicker selection), Search text...

  • is there an option to make the 2 leds of signal off? what about the wap browsing in this phone?

  • to all users and experts i want a code to raise the level of ring tone thnx

  • hi all can you help me for the best choice between b5702 and c6112 by time battery, signal strength and dual sim management? any other recommendations?

  • very thorough Rafa I appreciate your help, thank you

  • Hi STV, The security features for B5702 I have found are these...: -Overall PIN lock, for one or both SIMs. The PIN is requested at phone's boot sequence for one SIM or both SIMs, and then you have access to the whole phone. -Overall phone lock, sim lock (if SIM is physically exchanged). -Individual Privacy Lock for call log, phonebook details, messages, My files, memory card, calendar, tasks and memos. As far as I can tell, there is no password/PIN protection to access 'SIM Cards Management'. This would be an added value feature to the B5702... So anyone can access and use your work SIM card once the phone is turned on. Rafa3l

  • is the camera good enough to capture quality photos?

  • very comprehensive rafa , thank you. just one question, can you password protect the "sim management".ie, can I give the kids the phone but protect access to my work sim

  • the most stylish dual sim phone so far.

  • sammy, please bring it to indonesia.

  • all ways dual sim connection online ? " 1st Sim : call line, 2 nd Sim : call waiting

  • My impressions on Samsung B5702 Dual Sim. I've been using a B5702 dual Sim for a couple of months now. I would like to share my experience as a user in order to have some feedback from other B5702 users. My interest on the B5702 was to have a phone that would manage 2 SIM cards simultaneously, have a good battery life and for professional use. Overall, the B5702 does that quite well for what I expected... (My Samsung B5702 has Portuguese firmware ver. B5702XCIF1) Positive impressions: -Good reception on both SIMs. -EDGE Quad-band on both SIM card networks. -Good profile customization per SIM card. -Good enough sound quality. -Good battery -Works well with Parrot CK3100 Bluetooth Car Kit. The phonebook contacts are loaded and CK3100 will display the Default Network SIM, but then CK31100 will use the last used SIM on the phone to make a call. Negative impressions: -Phonebook does not allow to define a default SIM to use automatically per contact entry. (I often forget to change to the wanted SIM before making a call, and end up using the wrong SIM, that was last used. I think a default SIM entry per contact would help. Some Asian phones have a double green call button to solve this, which I agree would not favour the B5702's design). -No quick turn-off option for Bluetooth to save battery power. To do this you need 6 movements: Menu/Applications/Bluetooth/Options/Settings/Activation on-off. Even a MY Menu short-cut it is not practical... -No 'scheduled power on/off'. This is a useful feature to save power during sleep time, and is now found on some phones. -The side SIM Selection Key should have a 'braille dot', in order to make it easier to find by touch. -The side SIM Selection Key is not well positioned at the bottom of the phone. Should be positioned at the top side near the index finger. -The management of the Default Network SIM with the SIM Selection Key is also not functional, and can be confusing for some users: If used on the Home screen, it will ask to change the Default Network SIM, and then reboot... The recent Samsung C6112 dual SIM has overcome this by using this SIM Selection Key to simply change the SIM card (and associated SIM Home wallpaper) on the Home screen without any rebooting. It is also well positioned on the top side of the phone and easily felt. -An animated GIF file will not play completely on phone's Home screen. Is this a bug?? (I have noticed that the Home screen GIF reader will play a file for about 3 seconds, and then will restart the animated GIF. Therefore, a GIF file with a longer animated time-frame will not totally be displayed. On the other hand, if that GIF file is viewed under MENU/My Files, it is played completely...) -The dual blue LEDs can be useful to know which SIM is active and being used, but they are too bright, especially at night. -The dual blue LEDs are underused... They indicated SIM network connection/activity, but with a little more from Samsung's engineers, they could also be used to flash green, red, amber colours to visually notify missed calls, unread SMS/MMS, low battery power, etc... Regards, Rafa3L

  • my b5702 is fell into water and there is no display on the screen.what will i do?.........thanks

  • Hi Mohamed, I want to test it because of my work. It works fine. The reader can decode the 2d barcode. In some places (web, advertisement, warehousing), it is getting more popular. For normal user it is not a must have application. IMHO.

  • Lee, handset signal is of the same volume for sim1 and sim2. At least with my phone :)

  • forgot to write my name on the previous post

  • Shaham, find JAD MAKER using GOOGLE and download it(it's freeware). When you open the program file of JAD MAKER on your PC just drag and drop the JAR file in the program window. It will automatically create a *.JAD file in the same folder where the *.JAR file is stored.(the jad file is about 1KB). After that copy BOTH the files in your phone. To install the program disconnect the phone from the PC and navigate to the folder where you previously copied the files. Run the JAD file and ... voila... the program is installed :)

  • hey guys can you tell me what is the benefit of kawya reader and why we need it?

  • Hi Csipu, I have located and installed the Kayawa reader ver 1.4. It works with the B5702. Thanks form your help.

  • hi i am shahram.i want to save some java software such as dictionary and stories and so on. ater installing the softwares con not be run.how can i run hem? thanks....

  • how is it line 2? is it sound volume like line 1?or lower than line 1?please check for me! tq!

  • its 3g version.

  • I found this on the net It says b5702 supports mp4. I'm not sure

  • I tried to play *.WAV file a couple of minutes ago but it didn't work. So I guess wave format isn't supported. I don't consider this as disadvantage since I'm using only mp3 files as ringing melodies. I have no idea if the phone supports mp4. Sorry

  • thnx ivan but what about wave @ mp4 audio files?r they supported or not

  • Hi Rafa3l, I have found again my version, but I do not want to send a direct link. Search in the google for keyword KaywaReader.zip and freeblog, and you can find it in a hungarian site. The registration on Kaywa's site is free anyway! Have fun.

  • Hi there Mohamed, Yes, you can accept calls having the phone slided down. You can also make calls but only to people from your contact list i.e. you cannot input digits when slide's closed /obvious isn't it:)/. I can't compare the ringing volume since this is mu 1st samsung phone but i find it quite satisfying.

  • Thanks Csipu. I´ve tried to download your version Kaywa Reader 1.34. All available links point to current Kayawa Reader ver 2.01 (Java version) which does not work on the B5702. Probably there's another make/brand of phone from Kaywa's list that will work also with B5702... I will keep looking.

  • Hi Rafa3l, Officially does not support the Kaywa reader, because they do not tried it, but I have installed, and works :)

  • hey guys,i have some questions about this set can we make and receive calls while the slide is closed? does it support wave and mp4 audio files? what about the ring volume-is it better than sam e250?- thnx alot

  • Hi all, I am also looking for a 2D Barcode/QR reader for B5702. Kaywa Reader does not support B5702. I have googled around and haven´t found any reader that supports B5702. Can anyone help? Regards, RAFA3L.

  • Anybody using this phone in the USA? I have a no-name dual SIM I purchased in China, and it works fine w/ATT & T-Mobile, except it cannot tell time! I have to inhibit the auto date and time feature, or it (and another similar phone purchased there) keeps asking to switch to a new time zone. Is it possible that ATT and T-Mobile have incompatible signaling schemes that are confusing any dual SIM phone? (2) Is the handset volume on this phone nice and loud?

  • Yes, it supports both imap and pop3. the shortest polling interval is 1 hour. the maximum number of emails that it can store is 1000. You can choose the SIM for the GPRS connection by yourself. If you don't want to use one, for instance SIM2, you will not configure any GPRS profile associated to SIM2: so it will always use the other SIM.

  • Not yet.

  • hey guys does anyone here faced the problem of self rebooting like mr ivan?

  • Hello, want to know does the B5702 support IMAP? Does it support POP3? Which is the shortest polling interval for POP3? How many emails does it store? Can I block e.g. SIM1 for GPRS and let all traffic handle by SIM2? Does the standard SIM for calling correlate with standard SIM for GPRS?

  • Hello, Some web site mention B5702 allows voice dialling. There is no comments about that in the forum. Is it true ? How does it function ? How is the sound quality of this phone ? Thanks

  • Hi Marek, I have installed the Kaywa reader 1.34. I have not registered, but found somewhere on the internet. Keep in mind you have to install the jad file!

  • I'm looking for 2D barcode reader, but I can't find it for B5702. Can you help me?

  • thnx ivan you r an angel

  • sorry the links isn't working :(

  • Ok. Since I have my b5702(about 3 weeks maybe) i had only one self switch off(i'm not sure if i switched it off аccidentally or it just happened). I'm very happy with my phone now. I recommend it to you for a dual sim phone. I've never tried D980 and maybe you should check up in its forum for opinions. I only know it has a 5 MP camera. I can not think of any more advantages of d980 over b5702. If you compare both the phones in gsmarena you will find that b5702 is even better than d980 in some of the categories. just follow that link

  • thnx ivan for all information i want a dual sim phone with more advantages and less problems. i hope you could understand and help me thnx alot again

  • I've never had D980 so I can not answer you that question. Are sure you want to choose your new phone only upon its ringing volume?(unless it's the last thing left to look on). Both models have their pros and cons. B5702 has everything I need in a phone + its metal facing giving that stylish look made me choose it. It's your choice :)

  • thnx ivan for answering,is b5702 is louder than d980 or they are same level of sound volume plz help me as iam hesitated between these two phones

  • As I was installing and playing some java games on my b5702 i noticed that none of the 3D java games can run on this phone(although they can be installed). After installation of a 3D java game I try to run it but "unable to start this application ..." appears on the screen. So my only option is to uninstall it. Does anybody know how to run a 3D java application? Question N2: There is size restriction of the java applications which could be installed on the phone(i think it's something like 4MB). How can I raise up the limitation so I can install more java app without having to delete older ones? Once I tried to install a java game but the JAR size was too large. However I found out how to raise the maximum size limit of a JAR file to be installed on the phone. Just go to the Java test menu *#52828378#. Then open the OTA TEST sub menu. You will see the 'maximum JAR size(KB)' field where you can specify the max size. Hope it was helpful.

  • Hi Mido, as to me the sound is good enough. Of course it will inevitably depends on the quality of the sound file(mp3,amr or whatever it is) itself. rgrds

  • i would like to know if the sound of ringing is loud and clear or not? i have sam x700 and e250,is b5702 ringing sound like them or louder? thnx

  • thnx Andrea

  • You can find java applications for instance on getjar.com. The applications available are of very different types..so it depends on what is your personal interests. I am going to give you a brief list of some examples (what I have installed, all of them are currently free): - mobile gmaps (to have offline maps on your mobile) - dictionaries (there are several.. I would suggest to take a look on KODI dictionaries.. search "kodi dictionaries" on google) - opera mini (if you don't like the samsung default internet browser). Furthermore, even if I have not already tested them I suggest also to take a look to google mobile applications.

  • Hi Ivan, Well, The 2D barcode reader was the first (and only) java program what I have installed, regarding my work, just to test how does it work. I do not know any good URL for java programs. Do you miss an application? I have checked the jadmaker program and it works under win, but I have only linux at home. The good news with the same I can find a script (part of package gammu). :)

  • Sorry, my previous post was not intended for Csipu since he had already resoled this problem but for those who haven't.

  • Hi Csipu, find JAD MAKER using GOOGLE and download it(it's freeware as Andrea already mentioned). When you open the program file of JAD MAKER just drag and drop the JAR file in the program window. It will automatically create a JAD file in the same folder where the JAR file is stored.(the jad file is about 1KB). After that copy BOTH the files in your phone. To install the program disconnect the phone from the PC and navigate to the folder where you previously copied the files. Run the JAD file and ... voila... tha program is installed :) However where do you find programs for B5702. I only found games but I'm curious to find some useful programs.

  • It is really good to know. I have installed a 2D barcode reader to the phone, and I got jad and jar. First I was only tried to use the jar (refused), and not the jad, because on a E65 I can install it with jar.

  • I forgot to say that if you have only the jar file (sometimes it happens..) of the program that you want to install, then you can use, for instance, jadmaker (which is freeware) to create the jad file.

  • I think Reza compare this phone with something like anycool dual sim phones which has answer machine on its own. it answer the call with a recorded message and save the call for you

  • Perfect! Works fine. Thx a lot!

  • you need the jar and jad files of the program you want to install. Put them on the memory of the phone (or on the micro sd), disconnect the phone from the computer, go on the folder were you have placed the two files and select the jad file.. it will start the installation.

  • Do anybody know how to install a java program to the phone?

  • I have not talked about the well known 2nd SIM issue on D880, where the voice quality is bad on 2nd SIM. I am satisfied with the voice quality on both SIMs. We are talking about the network signal against a single SIM phone.

  • The 2nd SIM issue that you are talking about has been inherited from D880 (and so on). But other users, which have both these devices, said that this issue has been definitely reduced in B5702. I think that probably all the current samsung dual sim share this problem, but things are probably already getting better.. I hope that, possibly soon, samsung will fix the problem (I don't think they will update our firmwares, but at least the next generation of mobiles..).

  • I have disabled SIM2, but the strength of the signal has not changed on SIM1. I am afraid it is a design "issue". Probably the 2 SIMs requires this compromise ;) I still love this phone. This signal issue usually not relevant in a city.

  • Hi Csipu, i agree a single SIM phone has better network signal receiver than the B5702's. I'll give the same example: When my girlfriend's phone has detected 90% signal my phone always stays at least 1 bar behind hers(we both use the services of a same operator). Well as soon as I can place/receive a call on both sims it doesn't bother me. I'll try to disable one of the SIMs and see how it will result in the signal receiving capability on the active SIM.I'm curious if it will still run behind a single SIM phone.

  • It was me as well :)

  • Anyway did I mention, that I am satisfied with this phone? :) The battery life 3-5 days. Pretty comfortable and nice phone. It knows everything what I need. Now. My only problem is the carkit. I have a Nokia CK-7w carkit, and I use my phone via bluetooth. My predecessor E65 can pass the ringtone to the carkit, so I usually know the caller because of the ringtone. The B5702 does not pass (or CK-7W does not accept) the ringtone, so I can hear the old fashion black phone buzzing when somebody calls me. Not so comfortable but the BT connection is solid :)

  • Hi Ivan, I use the 2 SIMs from the same operator as well like you, but I cannot say the signal for the 1st SIM is stronger. It seems equal for me, or max 1 stick difference what is not significant. Sometimes the SIM1 better sometimes SIM2. My biggest problem my wife's phone has a better receiver on her phone than mine. It means when the signal is ~80-90% on her phone, then it is only ~60% on my B5702. I have realized this issue with other single SIM phone. So the 2SIMs request better signal to works fine, but the single SIM phone still can be used when mine not works at all.

  • The switch off issue hasn't occurred again ... so far :) Since I use my phone with 2 SIMs of a same GSM operator i noticed that the primary(default) SIM has better network detection capability than the second SIM. When I set as default the 2nd SIM then it has higher network range/more bars in the upper left corner on the display/ than the other SIM(which previously was default). It even happened to lose the network range with the 2nd SIM(preventing me from placing calls with the 2nd SIM) while the primary still has some bars and placing/receiving a call is still available. It's very odd, having in mind both SIMs share the same GSM operator. It doesn't matter on which slot you've put the SIM card. It only matters which one is set as default from the sim manager menu. P.S. It only happens on places where the network signal is not so strong(e.g. concrete buildings, basements etc.) If the network signal is good both of the SIMs indicate full range. When SIMs of different operators are used I suppose this issue will be hardly detected. Any comments on the above or just mine is messed up again? :)

  • Never happened to me during the standard use of the mobile. It switched off while I was trying to read the sms from the computer...but I was not using the samsung new pc studio.. just testing a different one (not samsung at all!), hence I figured out it was because of the software not a phone's fault.

  • I have bought it 1 month ago, but I have not faced such an issue.

  • hope it's just one time event with mine... i don't want to sell it :(

  • It happened to me many times. Hence, I sold it.

  • Has anybody experienced self switching off of the phone? Because that's what happened to me last night. And when i tried to switch it on again it didn't work at all/the switch on button didn't respond/. I had to remove the battery for a couple of seconds and put it back. Then i successfully managed to switch it on. If this happens again i think i'll make use of my warranty. Any suggestions if this is either software or hardware issue?

  • Mine shows number of messages left when i'm writting a sms(up to 12 messages).

  • I noticed that when i enter *#0228# (that's the battery info code) on my B5702 the info displayed is: Voltage:3.76V Temperature:30C Charge current:478mA Charge voltage:4.2 ... and what bothers me the most is that "battery unknown" heading. When i look the battery it is labeled SAMSUNG and the main voltages and currents are indicated as well and of course 'made in china'. But what's picking my thoughts is why the B5702 software does not recognize the battery as SAMSUNG and instead 'unknown battery' title is shown when you enter *#0228# code. Is there a posibility to have bought a non-genuine battery with my phone? How many of you have B5702 'made in china' instead of some other country(south korea for example)? You can see the 'made in' country when you remove the back lid and the battery.

  • Thanks for your answer, Andrea! At least you're not getting scared when you're lost in thoughts and somebody's trying to call you due to that quiet ringing in the very beginning :)

  • My b5702 does it too. Even if strange I think it is the phone's regular behavior. Anyway, as you said, it is not such a big deal..

  • Hi, I've just bought my b5702 phone and i'm very happy with it. I noticed that when i'm receiving an incoming call(no matter on which SIM the incoming call is being received) the ringer melody plays very quietly the first 1/2 of the second and after that it reaches its normal volume(it doesn't matter whether i choose 'melody', 'increasing melody', 'vibration then increasing melody' etc. option from the ringer menu). For example if i choose 'increasing melody' and i'm receiving a call the ringer melody starts very quietly and after a 1/2 sec its volume jumps on a much higher level and after that it slowly continues to increase until it reaches its highest level(i hope you understand what i mean). It's not a big deal but i was wondering if it's normal on your B5702 phones or i should take it to the service. thanks for your answers.

  • No, each time you send an sms you CAN choose what sim you want to use (reboot is not necessary!): - open a new sms message - press the button on the right side of the phone to change the sim that you are using. The icon on the top left part of the display (indicating what sim you are using) will properly change. Instead if you press the same button while not writing anything (for instance when only viewing your background image) then the phone will change the default sim rebooting. But rebooting is not necessary to change the sim you are using to write sms or make a call.. I do it several times per day with no effort!

  • The phone can store 300 SMSes (plus whatever your SIMs can hold - you can move messages between SIMs and the phone). You can't choose which SIM to send the message from - you have to pick the default SIM first, which requires a reboot first. Personally this is the worst aspect of this phone, as even flimsy chinese ones seem to be able to handle this kind of thing with ease.

  • 1. Surely the answering machine is handled by your telco, not the phone? 2. Mine says "Made by Samsung" under the battery. 3. it should use GPRS for the internet, but my contract doesn't have this enabled at the moment. 4. No idea, not tried yet. Never used the D890, although I'm not keen on touchscreens, so that partly why i chose this model instead.

  • My gf bought it for me from play.com (UK). At the moment they are selling it for ~210

  • Hi Apesh, You can change the font size of both the SMS and phone numbers when dialling (not sure about the contacts list - I can't find where to change that), and you can create long SMSs. My display reckons I can send 1836 characters, but that might be limited by my telco, I have never tried to send more than about 300 chars.

  • Ive bought this for

  • how much does this phone cost??? i can't find this info anywhere

  • Hi all, Can anyone tell me more about this phone, i am thinking of buying it to avoid holding two phones. How many characters i can type in one SMS? How is the font size? Many thanks in advance.

  • I have some questions regarding Samsung B5702: 1. Does it have Answering Machine? How should we set it on? 2. Is it "Made in Korea" or just "Made by Samsung"? 3. How its Internet works? Can one read feeds on its default set or he should install some programs to read feeds? 4. Can one install some players to just play more Video and Audio formats like MP4 and AVI? In your opinion which one works better Samsung D980 or B5702? Thanks a lot

  • how much sms capasity the phone is? and is it easy to type, CHOOSE from which card to send sms?

  • I need a dual SIM phone and I have a D880 : the sound is very bad especially for secondary SIM. So I would like to know how is the sound quality for B5702 comparing to other phones. Thanks

  • i got mine from overseaselectronics.com and i live in florida

  • hey guys! i got a problem with ma dads b5702. the problem is when i slide open the phone the camera always pops up. not only that the whole phone stops responding to the keys i press!! is there anything i can do? or should i give it to the service center? i tried reseting the phone but it sed wrong password. does any1 knw d default pass?

  • is this model available in the philippines?

  • can u provide url?

  • I paid mine for $300CAD included taxes and shipping from Montreal Canada.

  • Where can we buy this phone? At the US not available. Google search shows 3 online retailers but all later inform u either out of stock or discontinued.... it was just released in June 2009!

  • Hi, now it reboots many many times a day. It even switchs off buy itself. Sometimes I am trying to switch it on for like 5 minutes. Because many times, while entering the pin, it reboots again and again and again!!

  • The back of your phone is writing "Made by Samsung", "Made in Korea by Samsung" or "Made in China by Samsung"? cheers

  • Hi all, I have read all the opinion here but I still find it confused. I am from Hong Kong but there is no official launch of B5702 by the HK distributor. I can only but it from internet. However, I saw it in china websites that china mobile, the biggest operator in china is carrying a model called B5702c which looked exactly the same as B5702c. However, it is only tri-band on both sims and has a touch screen and hand writing screen. It states "Made in China by Samsung". I would like to check with you that the phone B5702 you are mentioning here is quad-band and without a touchscreen, right? My dream phone would be a quad-band touch screen B5702!!!

  • hi everybody, please i am so confused to choose between this phone and the C5212, i read all the questions below and i figured out some of the information i need but i am still missing some parts i wonder if this phone can record calls or not and if yes, is it time limited or specified just for SIM 1 and not both? does this phone has a voice recorder( time limited or not ) ? i figured out that this phone has a black list or auto-reject , but is it for both calls and SMS ? and about installing or adding any programs, is it kinda easy like Nokia or there is a known way to do so ? and finally for example if this phone doesn't support any features of what i mentioned, can i install a program which does it without having any problems ( like i have 5800 XM and i install total record for recording the calls ) please guys help me , i am new samsung user and i don't idea about it xD sorry for asking too many questions :$ -Music Soul-

  • How do i cope a url from the sms, i have been trying to download fringmobile software but it gives me hard time

  • Andrea, you seem to know this phone well. I currently have a c5212 which i like a lot but I'd like to password protect the sim management menu. Does the B5702 have this feature and if not is there any way i could apply it by firmware upgrade etc ?

  • Try again...still can't find it, only option below: 1. Show my number 2. Auto reject 3. Answering mode 4. Call status tones 5. Alerts on call Can you please check what firmware version is yours?

  • if i go to settings>Application settings>Call>All Calls>Answering Machine is option no. 4 If you dont have it there i wouldnt know where else it can be found. Please refer to your manual

  • no

  • Go to settings>Application settings>Call>All Calls>Answering Machine. Please help... Can't find Answering Machine there.. 1. Show my number 2. Auto reject 3. Answering mode 4. Call status tones 5. Alerts on call

  • Thanks a lot! :)

  • Go to settings>Application settings>Call>All Calls>Answering Machine. i also had the same issue but sorted it out

  • go to settings>SIM cards management>Register SIM card. here you can rename the SIM cards and even change the display picture

  • Yes, of course. You can rename each of the sim with whatever name you like.

  • Could some1 rename/relabel the sim into for example Sim1 into Business Sim2 into Personal I just don't like the idea of my phone ringing and displaying sim1 or sim2

  • Does anyone know how to disable the answering machine? After getting the phone, several of my friends told me they got an voice mail message, but I had it inactive on the network. I later discovered that if it rings long enough, to phone will go into an "answering machine" mode, where it will play a message and record the incoming call. I haven't found an option to deactivate this answering machine (nor to change the default message or listen to received messages). I looked everywhere in the menu and in the manual :(

  • Am unable to install Opera Mini on my new B5702. Cant work without it & dont like the inbuild web. How DO I LOAD OPERA MINI?

  • Thanks for the reply Dear Andrea, AppreCiated ur effort, Thanks for ur help, (Jubin)

  • Reply to Bob: Some weeks ago I tested the B5702's video player with settings similar to yours: I can confirm you that it works with bitrate 12 Kbit/s. To be more precise: I tested it with bitrate 12 Kbit/s, but frame rate 12 frame/s.

  • Samsung is a korean factory. Anyway, probably some components are made in china.

  • If you want to change the principal sim in fact there isn't any other way to do it.. the mobile will reboot everytime. But, if you actually want only to use the other sim (without selecting it as principal), then you just have to press the button on the right side of your device (just above of the camera shutter) when you are on the address book (to make a call) or when you are writing an sms. In these cases, each time you press the button you switch the selected sim (look at the icon on the top-left part of the display).

  • Hi, Is there any B5702 users pls help, I bought a new B5702 DUAL Simcard phone, I'm facing a problem on each sim selection, When im selecting the default sim1 to Sim2, the phone rebooting and restarting on the same time, Is there any setting to avoid the rebooting, Please help

  • plz can any body tell me ,,, is this phone b5702 made in china ?

  • Hi all, this is not an opinion, but I hope that others will find this useful. For some people, like myself, the reason I have a dual sim phone is because I'm regularly commuting between two countries, which means I spend considerable time on planes and trains. Since this phone has a nice big screen and can take a micro-SD card, it would be a shame to waste it. So here are the MP4 video conversion settings I've managed to get it working with (using Super by eRightSoft): Output Container: MP4 Video Codec: MP4 Audio: AMR-Narrow Band Video Details:- Video Scale Size: 320x240 Aspect Ratio: 4:3 Frame/Sec: 15 Bitrate: 64 Options: Select the following - High Quality, Top Quality, Stretch It(optional), 48K Audio Audio Details:- Sampling Frequency: 8000 Channels: 1 Bitrate: 10.2 (12.2 might also work, but I didn't test that) It will also work with H263, but the video scale is limited to 176x144 (and tho' you can then push the FPS up to 30, it hardly seems worth it). While I'm here, I have to say that this phone is fantastic, easy to use and has a great battery life. Personally, mine never crashes as others have mentioned, and it's feature rich...and now video rich too! So if you want to save yourself the expense of a separate personal media player (iTouch, Sony Walkman, Zen etc, then the above settings will put that nice big screen to good use and turn your phone into a personal media player too! Hope someone finds this useful. Bob

  • Hi, mine also reboots sometimes. And sometimes during a call. It just reboots without asking for the PIN! but one or other time it asks for the PIN. The other day I was talking with my wife and the phone was rebooting after rebooting.. I hope a new firmware comes and corrects these issues.

  • i bought this phone....its practical for ppl who use 2 sim cards...but the performance of the phone is less than average....where sometimes the phone reboots while speaking on it.....and its slow for msgs or such thing....the good part of it or the great 1 actually is the battery life!!! its amazing...it lasts for 4 days....

  • Hello, Do anybody use this phone with car kit Nokia CK-7W or with other car kit? As I heard the previous Duos models have an issue with the voice quality via bluetooth on the 2nd SIM. The voice was noisy/quiet, and you can hardly hear the voice of the other side in the car. The 1st SIM was ok. I would like to know whether this model have the same issue like the former ones? Thx, Csipu

  • i want to buy samsung B5702 , i look at it at one of the stores here in Egypt , and i found that is made by samsung without specifying the country , also the Seventh and Eights nomber from the left of the IMEI Number is (03). i used that the original mobiles its Seventh and Eights nomber from the left of the IMEI Number is ( 00 , 01 , or 10 ). can any one tell me is this phone is original or not. "by the way the mobile has a warranty"{

  • I am thinking of buying one of these, any views on this, or is there another phone that works in a similar fashion that could be recommended

  • For dual sim phones, I think China MTK ones are much better and cheaper than samsung. you can see them here to compare.

  • yes edwin, on ebay, the chinese have been selling quad band dual sims working at the same time for a while now. even before samsung has. and a while back i noticed a newer model that is touchscreen and boasts u completely separate sims in 1 phone. it means if ur using 1 sim and u get another call on sim 2, it will not go straight to voicemail but will ring or vibrate to let u know and u can switch between them. as for the quality, ive had several from china. first one bought few years ago only had 1 sim slot working. second one worked great for 3-4 months. then i shut it off and it never came back on. still have it. third model boasts quad band but was worth poop. fourth one was small and skinny but again reception wasnt worth it. in short, chinese have some great ideas but need to work on quality. but what do u expect when u see how cheap some of their phones r selling on ebay for. just search on ebay "quad band dual sim" and u'll find a whole bunch. good luck

  • I think that the link I have posted last time has been censored... Ok, anyway.. Samsung does not make a specific flash data cable for each of its mobile phones.. Actually most of them use the same one. In fact I suggest you to search in the descriptions of the cables if they work with samsung D880 (D880 is older and currently more common than B5702, hence it shall be simpler to find it in the descriptions)... if a samsung flash data cable works with D880 it should work also with B5702.

  • Thanks for your help! Is it the one...Why they said no in email? and i have been search online, but i very confuse which one is which, because they never say if for B5702...

  • Anyway I think you can find it quite easily even in other places on the internet.. try searching "samsung flash data cable" on google, ebay or whether you want. Remark1: Recent samsung dual sim mobiles (at least since 880) share the same flash data cable. Remark2: Even if samsung may change the accessories provided with B5702 in different countries, I think that it does not provide the flash data cable in any country (or at least not in the standard B5702 box). The cable provided by samsung in the standard B5702 box is a simple data cable, not enough for the purpose of changing the firmware...obviously you can check this by your own..

  • It's this one: It has been already tested by several other B5702 users in Italy.

  • service4handys they don't have B5702 flash cable yet..

  • I would also like to thank very much all of you and in particular Sam and Filipe for their precious contribution on this forum.

  • Update? Do you mean how to change the firmware? If this is the case you can: 1) take it to a samsung assistance center and ask them to update the firmware to the version you want. 2) alternatively you can do it by yourself. Then you would need: - a flash data cable (search for it on the internet, you can find it quite easily, e.g. there is a german site.. service4handys) - a computer and a proper software, e.g. you shall use (search it on google): B5702 OneNAND_SOLOMON_Downloader_v0.7_for_PNX6517(3disk&&PNX5230_slave).exe - finally you need the new firmware.. you may search it here: The firmware version you may want depends on the languages you are interested in (both for the interface and for the t9...). If you want an english stable version, I would suggest the firmware version B5702XDIE1.

  • does anybody knows how to update the b5702?

  • Hi Guys, I am not sure if this is problem with my B5702...but even changing the way it displays the contact name, name and family name or inverse, nothing change when go to contacts again..is it normal on this phone?other mobiles change immediately.

  • I used speed dial all the time when I had Siemens phones...After that the phone I used had no speed dial. The problem is that I use the second SIM many times a day and for many phone numbers(work phone number). Speed dial has only 9 numbers. Other problem: I am used to dial the complete number instead of using the phonebook because I know by heart almost every number I need (family and closed friends as well as company numbers - which are only 5 digits so easy to memorize). this is (or was) faster than going to the phonebook. I would have to memorize the position in the phonebook to get over this problem (example: 5# "call button"). Just have to live with...

  • Sorry. Forgot to sign the last two posts

  • WOW! far from perfect... It is a nice phone with a lot of configuration possibilities but it has its own problems as others also have...

  • you might be right. It doesn't happen when writing a SMS. One other thing...It seems there is no way, when in a new SMS, to access the phone book from the second SIM. At least when SIM1 is the Default.

  • About the eating number problem and the slow dialing. I think it happens when you're typing the numbers, the phone does a search in the dialed numbers and in your contact list, this search provokes a delay. Therefore, the phone misses some numbers you typed, because it is processing the search.

  • have u ever tried the speed dial? by these assigned number u don't need to open ur phone everytime just select and dial the number...and ur connected.

  • guys i am surpirised for your complaints,i believe it's the best mobile phone ever, his only problem for my point of view that it doesn't have 3G,but regardless the 3G it's very practical,i used to have a NOKIA before and it was aweful.

  • keypad light solved..missed it!! as for advantages and disadvantages....I have to agree with you. I would definitely go back to 2 phones. I have thought of returning the phone but as I was using 3!!! now with this double sim I only have 2phones and 3 sims!! unfortunately I need the 3! Anyone else experiencing slow dialling ?. I also own a HTC Touch Pro (known form being kin of slow - diamond also) and I can dial faster(screen keyboard) and there is no such thing as "eating numbers"

  • thx for that info on the keypad light. I missed that..somtimes you do not find things and they are right in front of you..! :)

  • There is an option to turn off the keypad light in the day time. Maybe that's what you're refering to. Menu: # 3 10 I'm in the last days of the period where I can send the phone back. So far, the advantage of using 1 phone instead of 2, doesn't overlap the disadvantages of using it. I think I'm going to grab a different phone (even with just 1 SIM).

  • You need to get your phone to a service center. Eating the numbers and no light on keypad is something I have not seen. As for seeing if a sms was sent from sim 1 or 2; this is an issue I have described and complained about earlier. There is no way to tell... only which card you received to (the UI developers must have forgotten about the sending).

  • Hello Again, there is no light in the keypad?? how is this possible? It keeps "eating" numbers when dialing...

  • It is kind of slow...example: if I dial a number and if I do it as I am used to(it is not that fast) when I look at the display the phojne is still writing the number and there is one or two missing numbers.. I don't remember this happening with a mobile phone for a long time! Is this typical in Samsung or is it just this firmware version (by the way mine is B5702XCIF1 - Portugal). The center Key (internet) should also be customizable. I would prefer it for MENU. How do I know if a received SMS or Sent SMS is from SIM 1 or 2? There is one thing I like about the chinese dual sim's - 2 call buttons! I do not think it is confortable to press a key on the side to change SIMs. How does Samsung updates there Mobile Phone's firmware? regularly? Do they "like" to release new firmware version? Regards,

  • Nope, if you made the call then you must talk with it open. There is only one way to make the call and slide down the phone while keeping the call(s) active: if you have an earphone attached to it (can be Bluetooth too). In this case you can safely slide it up, make the call then slide it down and the call will stay on. For received calls you don't need to worry about that. Might be an overlook as with D880 there's an workaround to do that.

  • Hello all, I bought the B5702 2 days ago and there is one thing bugging me. After dialing a number i have to talk with the phone open I can not slide it up and talk with it "closed" . I have had other sliders and that was not a problem. Is there an option? I couldn't find it! or is it mine that has a problem? or there's nothing we can do to change it? Overall still getting used to it...defenitely worth for the dual sim function..otherwise wouldn't want it..and it is fairly big!

  • I understand what you said about being able to be notified without sliding the phone up. But I believe Samsung did things that way to save battery. The LEDs are for showing active lines only, but I agree if they had other colors (like green to show new messages, red to show missed calls) and kept alternating, that would be nice too. On the other hand the mobile could be regarded as too showy.

  • I tried eBuddy. It runs fine, but there are no minimize option. You have it on the SE because it's user interface is better. However, you can run eBuddy in the browser (http://m.ebuddy.com) and, in this way, you can receive calls (you cannot call) and you can read and send SMS's (just SMS's) without closing the browser. Again, the bad thing is, you cannot close the slide or you'll shutdown the browser. Samsung's UI needs heavy updates...

  • Unfortunately, no.

  • I have bought a B5702. Is there any chance to associate one SIM to one contact, instead of using default SIM?

  • Yes I know that. I was saying that after the phone rings, and the screen goes off, it shows no notification (neither by the blue leds). That's weird for me because I'm used to just look at the screen without needing to slide it.

  • Well, the moment you receive a call or SMS the screen is up, but only for a few seconds. Then it's off and when you slide it up, it should show you that you've had missing call(s) and/or SMS in your inbox.

  • I forget to post one question: Is there any way to know if I have received any call or message, while the phone is in standby mode? The screen goes completely off, and shows no information... that's weird for me :/ Many thanks

  • Hi again! Thank you so much Filipe (sorry my misspelling in the previous post) and Sam for replying. About the time it takes to light up: yes, it's one full second. If it's fast for Sam, I think maybe I should go to the store and ask for a replacement. I tried with all the default themes, so it's not theme related. However, I can't think of other actions that are 'heavy' for the CPU and compare with you. Regarding the volume: I know about increasing volume on mp3's. But I'm not into doing that. I think I should be able to pick one default ringtone and use it aswell. Best regards

  • The 'mystery of the vanishing speed dial' seems to be consensus. Right now my mobile shows the problem I described. I press speed dial 4, it shows the right contact name and the right icon associated to the number (mobile, personal) but the number it's actually being called is his home number, which has the home icon. I can see that in the call list. That is sooo much strange that happens to me but not to you. Perhaps you didn't change the phonebook / call log much?

  • Forgot to sign my last to posts... Sam here:-)

  • In regards to ring volume I can understand that some people might find it a bit on the low side, even when set at maximum. But, in my opinion it is not so low that it is "badly" low... maybe some feed back from others, too? As for the slider, I think you might have an issue as my phones UI appears instantly when opening the slide. All shortcuts works as efficiently, as well. Not being a smart phone aside, I think it is a fantastic phone for what it is!

  • The time to light the screen after you slide it up may not be 1 full second, but it's close. No big deal, because as soon as you slide it open you can already start typing, using the menu button or browsing contacts. These tasks will be performed even if the screen light is not on yet. About ring volume, mine is not low at all. Specially after I put some cool mp3 ringtones into B5702. There are programs made to deal with mp3 volume, like MP3Gain. Google is your friend.

  • Filipe, I have tried what you asked for a week now and what you decribe does definately not occur on my phone (unless it could need more time to show up). However, even though all my contacts are stored on my phone, my speed dials completely disappear if I change the sim cards around... strange!

  • Hi! I've been reading this topic and it helped me even before I bought the phone. Many thanks to all, special to Felipe and Sam! :) I got it today and so far I'm not convinced yet that I'll keep it... There are a few things that I find very annoying: 1. The volume of the ring tone is very low! Even if I set it up to level 7 (max). And I'm not comparing with those phones with a column (like SE's). I had a Samsung D500 and it was much higher (without the usb speaker). 2. It's kinda slow. Example: when the slide is closed and I open it, it takes 1 second to the screen change and light up. And other little things that I already knew from my D500 which Samsung didn't changed. I think I'm somewhat disappointed. The only thing I like very much on this phone is the dual sim feature, and that's why I bought it, as the best dual sim around here. Please, tell me if those two aspects are common or if my phone needs replacement. I'll keep it for 2 weeks and I hope I learn to like it!

  • Tariq, I agree with you. I tried both models. Now I am using B5702 with no problem. Its much better. Also the camera is better I guess.

  • Thank you Filipe, do you maybe know if i can minimise eBuddy, like put it in background, as Sam said i know its not smartphone but my Sony Ericsson's can do that even tho they are not smartphones and i think that eBuddy have that minimise function anyways if im right... Have you ever worked with that, do you maybe know if thats possible?

  • Filipe, Thanks for your help. The VIVO SIM was supplyied by my company, so I can work as a customer help desk during my free time :( I never turn off the phone. Eventually I left work SIM card at home on my vacations. that is why I didn't notice the issue you have with our "local" version. I've allways hated this policy of cell operators that lock hardware features of the phones, and I do all my efforts to unlock them even if I'm not going to use it. This phone is perfect for my day by day use, but it isn't a smartphone. That is why I also purchased the DX900 It also support two SIMs and with it I can use 3G internet, VOIP and email when traveling.

  • compared to D880 i think the voice quality of both sim cards are much much better. i used to have problems with sim2 in my D880 and heard its a common problem. the voice was too low for sim2 even sim 1 was not loud enough for my test. its all sorted out with my B5702. anyone had the same problem and felt the differences between the two phones? i like the screen too and the material of this phone. yet its a bit heavy but its better thank carrying 2 phones. have a nice day all

  • I've already sold my brazilian model. The hardware version of my european B5702 is "MP 0.500", the TFS Checksum is 0x60316512, the other info is too big to copy and post here. What is it exactly that you're after, Andre? About your last question, the problem is, if you have Vivo as your most used line, then that's just fine to have it as primary by default. But if like me you use Vivo as secondary line (make fewer calls) then that's a bummer because whenever you turn your phone off and back on, you must remember to put it back to use the secondary line, which you use the most. And sometimes you'll forget to do that, that's unfortunate but normal. I use Oi most of the time in my B5702 so I'm used to just get the phone, dial (or get a number from call log / phonebook) then press the call button; only occasionally I use Vivo to make calls - these are directed only to other Vivo lines. Perhaps not everyone will agree with me here, but I simply don't like it when the company could have made both slots quadband as they have in other markets, but in our country it didn't.

  • Sure, you can do that.

  • Well, Neal, tough luck. You might consider a mobile phone with Symbian OS because it'll let you know whatever you want during a call. Regular Samsung mobiles won't, unfortunately.

  • Hi all. Filipe and Sam, you have both been very helpful for me with this phone. I just purchased and received the phone this week and overall I like it. The dual sim is excellent. But there is one thing that is bugging me and perhaps you have a solution. When I am on a call, I cannot access the main menu or calendar. I've tried to set the calendar as a Shortcut on the left, right, up, and down toggle positions. But when on a call, the up and down toggles simply do not work, and the left and right default back to messages and contacts. On that note too, if you make My Menu one of the four available shortcuts, it is not viewable either while on a call. Personally, this is very difficult to deal with and while I like the phone a lot, I may return it because I want to be able to access my calendar or a file while on a call, and I can't seem to find a way to do so. Please let me know if you have a workaround that I'm overlooking. Thank you very much. Neal

  • I have one more question if someone can answer... Can I use B5702 like a modem, i mean i plug in my Sony Ericsson over USB or connect it over bluetooth n i can go on internet over it... can i do that with B5702?

  • Filipe, I understand that you have two B5702 phones the Brasilian and the european version. I asked you how did you purchased your european phone, but I ended up purchasing an acer DX900. Eventualy I also purchased a 5702(brasil)for my day by day use and left DX900 for traveling. I didn't have yet the guts to try some alternative firmwares I downloaded from internet,(to solve the band limitation) but I would kindly request you if you can check de sofware versions of your phones, may be we can find a firmware image that unlock full quadriband on both SIMs. I tried *#0206*8378# to acess the test mode and read versions I use one VIVO SIM for work and one TIM SIM for personal use, but I didn't notice what I miss by not being able to use the VIVO SIM as the secondary SIM.

  • thx you Sam... thats what i thought... well what i need that 2nd SIM is to go on eBuddy... idk if its cuz i have Sony Ericsson but eBuddy usualy have minimise function so i guess i would be able to minimise it cuz im pretty much all the time on eBuddy so i should be able to go out of eBuddy but not close it... i know its not smartphone but Sony Ericsson's have multitasking so i guess if i cant minimise it ill have to stick with my SE's... thx's once again for the answer

  • BUT, remember the "NON SMART PHONE" thingy... in your scenario that means that you can receive calls while on the net and then revert back to the net, BUT if you do ANYTHING else, you close your connection. Actually, as I am not using chat I am not sure if you would be "live" on your chat while answering a call!? Maybe someone else can fill in the blanks?

  • This is not a smartphone... you cannot multi task... It has a proprietary Samsung UI. As for your first question, yes, you can use one card for calls and sms (and email), and the other card for internet. If you surf the net on one card and get a call (in your case on the other sim card) the call screen will show and you have to handle the call (accept or reject). Once you have accepted/completed or rejected the call, the screen will revert back to where you were on the internet.

  • Sure, Filipe, I will give it a try and let you know! I lived 7 years in Spain, so I think that's to blame for me writing your name wrong so many times. Norwegian now living and working in Thailand, by the way:-)

  • Hello Well now i have Sony Ericsson K800 that i use as a normal phone and i have Sony Ericsson T700 that u use with data sim card (so that means i can only go on internet with it n send text messages, no calls) so i was thinking of gettin B5702... Well i guess what i think can work but i want to make sure: i have one car for calls n text n the other one is for internet so that i can be on AIM so i was thinking if it can run one SIM card on internet all the time n the other one will be able to recive calls n texts if im right? And one more thing, is B5702 have multitasking? Cuz on my Sony Ericssons i can minimise eBuddy n it will still run in background... So can i use SIM 1 for calls n SMS and SIM 2 for eBuddy at the same time and be able to minimise eBuddy if i get call or something... I hope you know what i mean... Thx for answer

  • I forgive you, too many Felipes out there :) Now, onto something you might be able to help here. In an earlier reply you said you don't use speed dial. I'd like to ask you to start using to see if this also happens to you. Choose about 2 or 3 contacts which must have more than 1 number stored under their names and use the most used number to assign to speed dial. Use this way for a few days, turn your phone off at night and back on in the morning (as I suppose you might do), delete some contacts, add new ones, but don't touch the contacts on speed dial. Use them only for calling. What happens for me here since D880 is that the phone will (apparently) randomly change the assigned number to speed dial. So if you assigned the mobile numbers for your contacts on speed dial, some beautiful day the phone will call a different number, as you will check on call log. And to your surprise, the setting on speed dial may still be intact or in some cases, changed there too. It doesn't make much sense until you experience what I just described. Worse thing, it's pointless trying to get it fixed by contacting Samsung as it doesn't happen immediately, only after some prolonged use. I feel like I just had some unearthly experience, went into another dimension and saw things in an undescribable way, because people don't seem to get what I explain. Can you please try it?

  • I'm in a good mood today so I won't bash your head with piece of wood :) Yes, sure, Samsung dual-SIM models work like you want. You can receive calls in both SIM cards even at same time. If your father calls you in SIM 1 and your mother calls you in SIM 2, you will answer one and then answer the other, then you can switch between them. You'll be given a choice to either keep the first call or drop it before taking the second incoming call. Buy a B5702 and be happy. And please, if in the future you have any other questions regarding this model, read the replies in this forum. Use the search box at the top for keywords as chances are it's been answered before.

  • grrr, howcome I always get your name wrong... sorry, I meant "Filipe"!

  • Ha, ha, ha.... Felipe, your turn;-)

  • Can someone who has the phone please tell me if the two SIM cards work at the same time? Like if someone calls in the second SIM will I be able to receive the call and after ending the call, if someone calls me at the first SIM then it will ring too without me changing or switching the SIMs. Thanks in advance.

  • I hope you get it solved! After I got the "settings" sms'es from my operators it worked perfectly!

  • Yes, Filipe, I understand. Confusing and similar to the issue about the email profiles when disabling/changing sim cards. I my opinion, as a non-smart phone and with double sim function this is a great phone! I like it more and more for every day that passes! My only real issue is the sync problems with Outlook (when syncing with 2 or more computers), as I have described here earlier. There are a few minor (but silly and irritating) glitches in the User Interface, but nothing too big; 1. No way to tell what sim was used for SENDING a sms when retrieving in the log. 2. Photo of contact only on call receive, but NOT when placing a call. My wish list for next generation in addition to sortnig the above out, would be: 1. Get the sync sorted!!! 2. Allow for menu choice "default sim" to use for each and every contact in the phone book regardless of current device default sim. 3. Allow for photo thumbs in the phone book (not only on the details page). 4. More contact categories. 5. Flash for the camera(!)

  • In regards to the SAR ratings; no disrespect to the original poster, though!

  • I am exactly the same way, as I think most are! In todays world one can hardly move safely or do anything without being told that "it" could kill you! I think it is a fairly safe bet to say that I am pretty sure that SAR will NOT kill me or turn me in to a vegetable... in my humble opinion there are plenty of more serious issues to worry about!

  • Filipe, you are always so prompt in replying with assistance, Thank you! It is hard to explain this in a simple way. It seems that the sending/receiving of emails is separate from the other settings, meaning that when you set all account data for each sim in email profiles one of the sims have to be chosen right then and there (at least thats how it seems to me). But please let me do a point by point: 1. 2 sims from 2 various operators are loaded. 2. Identical email account settings are entered under each sim profile. 3. Email profile in sim 2 is selected for use. 4. All works fine as long as both sims are enabled, but sim 2 is always used for email sending/receiving. 5. Disable sim 2. When trying to send/receive email gets error message (Network not available). 6. Try to go to email profiles; sim 2 email account details are not available, and account info for sim 1 to is not editable. Solution: Go to email profiles, change email account settings to be used from sim 2 to sim 1, and then disable sim 2. Send/receive will then work fine via sim 1 (and sim 2 disabled). My point is, am I missing something? Am I doing something wrong? Should it not work in a way so that if sim 2 emailing is default, but when sim 2 is disabled, sim 1 info should automatically come to play?

  • Filipe and sam, thanks again for taking the time to reply. I took a look at my settings and I reckon I need to get correct settings from O2 and Vodafone and hopefully that will sort the problem.

  • Sam, I don't know if you will be able to reproduce this in your country but here goes: here we have a 850 MHz operator and four 900/1800 MHz others. If I have one SIM slot for the 850 MHz operator and the other one for any other 900/1800 MHz operator I must set both SIM slots as quadband. Why? Because if I set the slot used by the 850 MHz operator as 850/1900 MHz and the other one as 900/1800 MHz, when I reset the phone as a result of exchangin the primary SIM, they won't find networks. Even though in the setting, it shows that 850/1900 MHz is now assigned to the correect 850 MHz operator and same with 900/1800 MHz operator has network showing as 900/1800 MHz. Confusing?

  • Jeez I never take these SAR ratings too seriously. Maybe I should? I don't know, I simply don't pay attention to that at all. I'm not sure what my behavior implies, though.

  • I do understand what you meant, even though I don't use the phone for e-mail. You're saying that once you have your profiles and settings for a given SIM and you disable it, those profiles and settings are unreachable until you reenable that SIM. But must it be the exact same SIM card? Or can it any SIM card at all as long as the slot is enabled? Perhaps a SIM from the same operator then? Because if you lose your SIM card then you're screwed.

  • I would love to upgrade, but it's a pitty the B5702 has a 0.30 SAR value, whereas D880 has a 0.21 SAR. Are the various improvements of B5702 worth the higher SAR vvalue ?

  • I do not have any problems sending and receiving mms at all... it all works fine after downloading the various settings via sms from the two operators I use. One thing I have a problem with is that it seems that the sim used for downloading emails needs to be set separately and once set it needs to be changed manually if want to use the other sim. Problem is that when using sim 2 for emails and then later disabling sim 2 it is not possible to change email sending from sim 2 to sim 1... the email profile cahnging is locked... sim 2 needs to be enabled in order to change email from sim 2 to sim 1. Does anyone understand what I mean? Anyone epxerience similar? Filipe, how about you?

  • Actually I have the same problem here, can't help you with the unknown subscriber thing. That's a bummer :(

  • I just got this phone and although I'm still getting the hang of it I really like it. I have a personal account with O2 and a work account with Vodafone, and this phone really makes my life simpler. The useful advice on this forum (particularly from sam and Filipe) has made it a lot easier for me, so thanks for that. The one thing I just can't get my head around is how to set the phone up for picture messages. Whenever I get a picture message and try to access it, I get the message "unknown subscriber". The same thing happens if I try to send a pic. Do I have to do something to configure picture messages for both my profiles? I know that sounds like a dumb question, but my previous phones (for both accounts) were Sony Ericssons, and I didn't have to do anything with the setup on the phones to send and receive pics. I did have a look through the comments, so apologies if I missed something. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

  • does this phone really support document viewer..or its fake like C5212

  • Actually C5212 is dualband, not triband. And price is not the only factor to take into account when choosing a mobile phone. There's usability too: B5702 is nicer to use in my opinion, having a dedicated C key for deleting characters and files (instead of going into menus and choosing delete in C5212) for example. In C5212 (which I owned then sold) you need to lock keys in order to prevent calls to be made by accident whereas in B5702 - or any slider for that matter - that's not a problem. Every time you use the phone you need to unlock the keys by pressing by 2 seconds the * key and after using D880 & B5702 for months I find that quite annoying. But to each their own.

  • Brazil have now... I saw it, and is very big, a fat one.... but is better than c5212, because c5212 is triband and B5702, but if your country doesn't have any 850-operator, choose the more cheaper.

  • B5702 hands down.

  • hey can any one plz tell me whch cell is better samsung's c5212 or b5702???

  • Ha ha ha, Filipe... I just thought I'd get in before you started fuming as you have replied several times before on this:-)

  • sam, only you still have the patience to write every time how to make calls with the secondary SIM without making the phone to reboot. I don't stand that kind of question anymore. People are just too lazy to either experiment themselves AND read questions and answers here.

  • Rebooting between SIM cards should not causes the speed dial to be lost. However if you physically remove a SIM and insert another one, then it might happen. If you assign the speed dial to numbers present only in the SIM card and then swap or remove it, it may be the reason for speed dial to be lost.

  • Sorry, I forgot to mention that the action you are referring to happens when you press the sim switch when you are on the Home screen. Using the switch at when in the Home screen is for changing the DEFAULT sim card. However, you can also DISABLE sim 2 here (but NOT your default). If you want to disable your default sim then you first have to change the default sim and re-start.

  • Sameerah, I can only help you with your point 1 as I dont use speed dial: When you want to switch sims during use: For calls; a. Select a number in your contacts list, OR b. Key in a number,OR c. Select a number from any of the history logs. THEN, you press the sim switch button to choose sim (you see which one is currently in use at the highlighted logo on the top left of the screen) For SMS/MMS; a. Open the new message window, OR b. open a sms/mms from the inbox list open it, chose your action (reply/forward), and then once in the typing window chose the sim from the sim switch button (you see which one is currently in use at the highlighted logo on the top left of the screen) GPRS; if you have enabled this on both cards, you have the option to set default sim for GPRS in the settings, or you can chose to be asked each time, in which case you will get an option to chose which sim to use each time you start a new session.

  • Filipe and the rest of you B5702 users - i need some help please! I recenly bought the one ad for my basic needs its great HOWEVER I'm facing 2 problems that i need help with: 1: When i want to switch SIMS (by pressing the button on the side and selecting the defaul sim) - the phone restarts. Is there anyother way to change sims without restaring the phone? 2: In contacts I assign speedials but when the phone re-boots (in the case of changgingg sims)i lose the speed dial list. How can I avoid this? Any help on this would be very appreciated!

  • I have found that the B5702 would fit my needs well - I need a triband, dual-SIM with a decent on-air time (8 hours calling). Can anyone please tell me, how solid or frail, stable or buggy this model is?

  • Oi Affonso. Nope, you misunderstood what I said: primary slot is quadband, second is dualband 900/1800 MHz. This means in primary slot you can use Vivo (850 MHz) or any of these: Oi/BrT, TIM, Claro, SERCOMTEL, CTBC, Vivo MG (former Telemig Celular). However in secondary slot you can use all of the above, except Vivo (850 MHz). So in the brazilian B5702, primary slot can receive any SIM card; and in the secondary slot you can put everything but you can't put a Vivo SIM. Therefore, you can't use 2 Vivo SIM cards like other countries B5702 (mine is from Spain and I can use 2 Vivo SIM cards). "Why would you need 2 Vivo lines?" one may ask. Oh well I might have one line from work and another one for personal affairs, it's up to me anyway... Actually, my main line is Oi and second line is Vivo so I prefer to use Vivo as secondary in B5702. That's why I was so uptset by the brazilian B5702, which I also bought at Americanas.com. I had intention to sell my spanish B5702 and keep the brazilian one for warrnty purpose, but now I won't do that. Anyway it's not impossible to make normal use of the phone by having Vivo as second line, you'll just have to remember to switch the preferred outgoing SIM card to the other SIM. What state are you from?

  • Filipe, let me get this straight... i am about to buy Samsung Duos on Americanas.com, and i read the post that you did and, it says that i can only work with Vivo as the first sim, and another operator, on the second? So if i want to use TIM and Claro, i can't do it?

  • Just to clarify; I am referring to the the Log in my previous post, point 1. When doing the actual sending it is as easy as with calls to chose which sim to use, but the log/history does not reflect which sim was used for previous sent sms'es.

  • After using the phone for some time now, I have to say that I am impressed with the double sim handling. Just two things: 1. When receiving sms, it is stated by which sim the sms was received. However, after having SENT a sms there is no info on which sim was used. This seems odd... must be an oversight by Samsung programmers. 2. It is very easy to unintentionally use the "wrong" sim, especially when replying to a missed call or returning a sms. There should be a "sim default" option for each saved contact in the phone's contact list.

  • My B5702 came from Spain alright, and it's quadband in both SIM slots. But the one Samsung is selling in my country, with warranty and all, is quadband + dualband (900/1800) only. Go figure that. I strongly believe that this limitation is software-based so if anyone happens to know how to unlock the quadband capabilities of the brazilian B5702, I'd love to know how. Aren't there so-called 'secret' codes that only service centers are allowed to know? Perhaps some Samsung technician could shed some light on this issue...

  • Filipe, how could that be? I thought you said you got the phone shipped from Spain??? I live in Thailand, and as previously mentioned I ordered my phone from Expansys Singpore (but it was shipped from Hong Kong). I use one AIS sim and one DTAC sim... both with quad band:-) Also, I confirm that B5702 (at least mine) can handle the same line usage as you mention (multiple in/out).

  • I have the sad duty to inform that in Brazil, Samsung released this model with quadband only in SIM 1. SIM 2 is dual 900/1800 MHz only and most likely due to some sort of arrangement between Samsung Brazil and Vivo (the biggest mobile operator in my country which works in 850 MHz). So the customer is forced to use Vivo as primary line, forever.

  • No problem, but I'm Filipe. I'm now selling my old D880 and Star, just got a Jt which is much nicer to use, plus it's got GPS and 3G (Wi-Fi is something I rarely use anyway).

  • What you describe is NOT, I repeat, NOT a problem on D880. I happen to own both D880 and B5702, ready to sell the D880 after I got the newer model because it's so much better. But D880 can handle up to 4 simultaneous calls without a problem. I just did the test right now before writing this reply. Got B5702 SIM 1 to call D880 SIM 1 then B5702 SIM 2 to call D880 SIM 2. Next I got C5212 SIM to call D880 SIM 1 and C5212 SIM 2 to call D880 SIM 2. It all worked perfectly well, so the most likely reason for your problem is your network has call waiting disabled.

  • hi... why the camera and video are not good in this phone?

  • I want to buy this phone, but first i would like to know can it handle three calls (lines) simultaneosly. Because the D880 cannot. My question is when you are talking no matter with which card can you receive call waiting on the same card and receive call from the other card in the same time. The situation with D880 is the busy signal for the third call (line) it means cannot handle three calls/lines at the same time (1 call in progress, 1 waiting call on the same card, and incomming call for the other card). I haven't got the chance to try this model B5702 so if somebody knows or have experienced this issue, please answer. Thanks in advance.

  • Thanks for the info, Felipe! battery life is good. I have now had the phone for about one week... fully charged it once on day of arrival, since then I have spot charged it 2-3 times (I am a heavy user and the phone is on 24/7). So, can not complain about the battery Apart from the issue with synching, the phone acually has grown on me:-) So, here is my current set-up (I think): keep the B5702 for social events when it is more convenient with just one phone, Samsung i8910HD for multimedia needs, and Nokia E71 for work (which I will replace with the new E72 once it is released). However, I am eagerly awaiting the new HTC Leo (or whatever the name will be)

  • What about the battery life?

  • Don simply input the number to be dialled or write your text message first, then tap your sim management button and the sim icon in corner of screen will have changed. Nice and simple and efficien and instant.

  • For Christ sake. This was answered by me and others many times in this very same forum. Take some time to read a few pages of questions and answers and you will find the light.

  • That stands or Fixed Dialing Number, where the mobile will only dial to those previously preprogrammed numbers. Useful when you hand the mobile to somebody with restricted privileges. I never sync with the PC so I never experienced the problems you describe. I see little use to me, as I'm not that big businessman :)

  • I forgot; I can not send sms via New PC Suite on my pc... can anyone else? And, what is FDN phonebook? Anyone know?

  • Got the phone now, and been playing around with it. My conclusion: Apart from the Double SIM feauture, and its good looks, the user interface and PC sync is the worst I have ever stumbled upon: - Phonebook: Contact image only show when receiving call... not when making a call. - Phonebook: To be able to see a contact image you need to fully open the contact from the list and a tiiiiny image is displayed. - Outlook sync is a joke (at best). The New PC suite syncs most fields (however not Category which must be manually defined... like Nokia). BUT, the phone does not support either Category nor contact images. So, you will end up editing between Outlook and New PC suite first, and THEN you need to punch in an edit each contact on the phone(!!!) - Only possible to sync with one pc... if you sync on two or more, you will end up adding and deleting back and forth. - The phone only allows for 10 Contact Groups. - Call quality good, but EDGE superslow! - Camera ok, but no flash - Sound level ok - Bluetooth paired right away with my Pioneer system in the car. Connection stable. - Info in regards to which SIM in use is clear and easy. The phones advantage is the doubkle sim, of course. However, I am very disappointed over the extremely bad sync between Outlook and New PC Suite and then between New PC Suite and the phone. This makes it almost unasable to me, and I will most likely end up with using it only when I go out on town and want one phone in my pocket. Definately not for heavy business use (because of the issues with contacts sync). My 2 year old N95 is faaar superior and still going strong!

  • Now I came to notice this difference between B5702 and C5212. In the latter, you can access Reject list from the call log and also from Call manager, whereas in the former you can't. This is most likely due to an oversight by the south koreans, hopefully to get fixed in a future software upgrade. And here's more hope that they add Call conversation record for B5702 as well...

  • Yeah it's just a liiiitle buried: Menu > Settings > Application settings > Call > All calls > Auto reject > Reject list

  • hi all! I have just bougt B5702 but i am not finding the way to view the rejected list. I don't know if this is due to a bug or not. I can easily add an entry to that list, but i cannot view it. When i go to CALL MANAGER, i can see only two options: CALL TIME and CALL COSTS. Can any body help me? Regards

  • I'm sorry I forgot to mention that. It does have Privacy lock as well as C5212 :)

  • the security features of d880 are the 3 you've mentioned and option to lock certain application, i.e. sms, contacts, folders, etc. the option to lock application is the most important feature of a cellphone. i'm just wondering why samsung took out this feature..

  • guess none do what i want but thanks anyway filipe stv

  • So, it seems the answer to your question is "no", stv

  • There are 3 security options: PIN lock for each SIM (which you already know about), phone lock (whenever the phone restarts it's asked) and SIM lock (so you can't use any other SIM cards but the ones already in the phone unless you know that password). Which one you think suits you best? All of these are in C5212 and B5702.

  • Thanks Filipe but think we're talking about 2 different things. Sorry, i've not explained properly. I knew the sim/pin lock was there from the power up function, but I'm wondering if they can be password protected from the sim management menu, ie,, when switching sim's can i password protect at point of switching. Hope this makes sense.

  • That's not missing: both B5702 and C5212 have the exactly same security options. Security for SIM cards is there, both PIN lock (Security > SIM > PIN lock) and for switching SIM cards (Security > Phone > SIM lock). Those options are individually available for each SIM card.

  • I was referring to C5212, which I received last Saturday :) As for B5702, its battery lasts as much as D880. It's a 2-in-1 mobile, battery is supposed to end earlier. I have my cell phones turned on 24/7 and usually charged D880 & B5702 once every 3 days (2 if I had make many calls).

  • Felipe said: 22'nd June: "Just got mine today and I must say this model won me over D880 (which I own too)." So, Sam is right, Lee... maybe Felipe keeps it on the shelf because it is so beautiful to look at?;-)

  • how good is battery life comparing to D880?????

  • Hi Filipe One question if I can please. I have the c5212 which i like very much, however the one thing missing is security for the sim cards. Can you tell me if the B5702 has password protection when switching the sim's on and off from the sim management menu ? thanks in advance

  • Hi Filipe, Thanks for the nice comparison. Its a good indicative for potential buyers. Do update us on the battery lifespan. Thanks alot. Hi Sam, It seems like Filipe only receive his phone somewhere around 24th Jul. Lee

  • Felipe, you said you received the phone June 22 earlier in this thread, and you have only given it 1 full charge since then? That's more than a month ago! Still waiting for mine:-(

  • Well, they are from the same brotherhood so both have very similar functions. B5702 is faster in menus, has better screen resolution so images and menus look nicer. C5212 in red color looks cheap for the plastic cover, but it's not supposed to be higher class like B5702 which looks much more professional. However I don't dislike my red C5212, it does its job and was less expensive. In B5702 when you get to call manager and choose Reject list, there is an option that you can tick if you want to reject 'unknown' callers; in C5212 this option isn't explicitly there but you can select an 'unknown' caller and use left softkey to bring a menu then choose 'Add to Reject' list so it's no big deal. People like me who love that C key (in D880 & B5702) for deleting characters, numbers and files might sorely miss it in C5212. I personally don't like going into menus and selecting "Delete", that's one of the reasons I don't like Nokia mobiles. When it comes to shortcuts, C5212 has less options than B5702. My B5702 came from Spain and my C5212 came from Hong Kong, both have the Contacts menu on right softkey. We brazilians are used to get our contacts by pressing down on D-pad so I was able to have this behavior in B5702 (can access contacts by either pressing D-pad down or right softkey), but in C5212 I can't do the same as 'Contacts' isn't available as a possible shortcut. Can't comment on battery duration though, as I received C5212 too recently and only gave it one full charge, as you might know batteries need to be fully charged 3 to 4 times before they achieve their best performances. As I told my C5212 came from Hong Kong and indeed it has the capability of recording up to 60 minutes of phone conversation (only for primary SIM). My B5702 came from Spain and can't do that unfortunately. I don't know if asian B5702 are able to record phone conversations, would like very much to know that. They both have loud volume but I prefer the sound quality on B5702. It's a better product, it's worth its cost so if you can pay the extra money I suggest you go for it. At eBay USA you can get C5212 for US$ 200.00 (shipping included). In Europe there are online stores selling B5702 for prices betwen 215.00 and 249.00 plus shipping, it's just a matter of looking.

  • Hi Filipe, Are you able to help us to compare the basic functionality of both B5702 and C5212 since you have both? Like the talking sound quality, speed of the phones, loudness of the speaker phone, battery lifespan, etc ? Thanks. Lee

  • Hello friends! I'm Dhanesh Kumar, i have samsung D880 , and now i want to buy B-5702 . plz friends tell what should i do? did i bought Or not, and tell every thing abouht both set's .. E-MAIL = ( [email protected] )

  • Same with me: I've got two D880 for over an year now and bought a B5702 for replacing one, should be receiving my C5212 today for replacing the other D880. According to specifications B5702 weighs only 4 grams more than D880 but it feels heavier than that. I like B5702 more because it's faster too, the calculator has bigger buffer space for digits, I can block 'unknown' callers, can use whatever SIM I like. Only find a little bit more difficult to get used to the new way of working for the switch button. You own both D880 and B5702 so you know what I'm talking about: people who never used D880 might get used to it in no time, but we who still use both models sometimes forget what SIM B5702 was left on the last time. While in D880 it's always the primary SIM :)

  • Have the D880 and got the 5702. Just seems a better phone, quicker, more sleek, just better really, can't finger it but I like it more

  • Honestly, I never experienced what you just described with any of my D880 (I owned 3 of them) and certainly not with B5702. Since I still own a D880, I just tested both now and less than a minute after turning both on, they received the SMS I sent while they were off. I guess it's a problem with your operator, Fanboy.

  • Does this model have also the sms Problem like D880. Will it recive sms when it was off before. For example: the phone was off when somebody sent a sms. When the phone is putting on, the sms will still arrive.

  • anyone knows what is the difference between model with duos logo above screen and model without logo?

  • Too bad, the phone is good but cannot recognise chinese character SMS

  • I have both D880 and B5702 and I can say I'm very much pleased with sound quality in both SIM cards. Samsung got it right this time :)

  • : "Availability: 1-5 In Stock - 4 Days This product is at our central warehouse and should be shipped in 5 working days" FINALLY:-):-):-)

  • This is a wonderful brand. I bought one today and its wonderful. But why cant the company devolop a dual sim 3G for faster access to internet?. I have been a sumsung user since ladning of mobile telephony in kenya, but I do expect samsung company to give good brands though their phones are little bit expensive comparing to other brands. I Love B5702 than D980. Bravo Samsung for the new brand

  • Yes, from Rio

  • Fortunately not, as Carlos, the store owner himself, shipped it to me as gift (regalo). I spoke to him by phone but mostly by e-mail. It took approximately 10 days to arrive and I was very pleased with packaging, very good to prevent any damages. Are you brazilian too?

  • how is quality of sound on secondary sim, I had d880 and sim2 is poor quality, my friend takes d980 and sound on both sim is same quality !

  • Filipe, you said you purchased your phone from andotel and received it in Rio. I'm planing to do the same thing. Did you have any problem ? customs tax?

  • On both, that's right.

  • gprs/mms on both sim like d980 or only sim 1 like d880 ??

  • i meant of course the model number gt-b5702

  • Sorry about the name mix up, Felipe. The phone specification GT-B5702 has now been added to the Samsung UK website when you do a search there. You only get to the support page with no photo and what is available is only the pc software. BUT, it has been added... meaning it will be available soon:-) OFFICIALLY(!)... for all you non-believers out there:-)

  • There are no delays, the person calling you won't know there was any switch, it's transparent to the caller. This is the model you want, you won't regret.

  • Follow the links to Samsung provided earlier in this thread!!! Read before you post!

  • Can't find anything or information from Samsung branch anyway in the world. No official announcement made. Where this people can the set from ? Hm....

  • Sam: You’re correct. They have done a great job by implementing a LED for each SIM but personally I think they could have been more creative with the LED’s. I mean there are times that you have already missed a call and you are in a dark place. If you had two different color LED’s you could tell if the call was important without even touching the phone. Isn’t it? I still love the brand and I will go for this chick.

  • COuld anyone tell me how the phone handles things when you get a call from sim2, while you're on sim1. is ther any delay (even if few seconds) while switching between sims. if im on sim1 and someone tries calling on sim2, will it say to them that the phone's switched off? if the answer to the above is true, can anyone suggest a good , cheap model that's dual-active simultaneously?

  • Sam, my model has the following languages: Deutsch, English, Italiano, Franais, Espaol, Portugus, Nederlands and the spanish dialects Catal, Galego and Euskara. I have no doubt this is an european model; it may not be an UK model but surely is european. These languages do not exist in russian or in middle eastern or even asian markets, only in european models. It's possible that Samsung doesn't want to come out with the truth just yet, so they don't mess with their market strategy. It wouldn't be the first time a company denies doing something they are actually doing (or vice versa)! Oh and my name is Filipe, not Felipe :p

  • Felipe; I have sent three separate emails to Samsung Official support through the respective country/region websites, and I hae had a reply from all three: Samsung Singapore: We have no information regarding the release of the GT-B5702. If internet vendors like Expansys are offering the device, they are importing from and selling outside authorized channels". Samsung UK: We have no information regarding the release of B5702 in the United Kingdom. It is currently not available through our authorized vendors. Samsung Russia: The GT-B5702 has been released and is for sale through our stores. We have no control over Samsung products being made available for customers outside our borders via the imternet. So, as I said in my past message, most likely Expansys, as well as Andotel and a few others, are importing themselves direct from vendors in the markets that the phone HAS BEEN released... again; Russia, Africa, and the Middle East. I guess the phone is available in one version with Russian AND latin alphabet letters on the keys, and another version with only latin alphabet keys (which is most likely what you are referring to as the UK version, but does not equal the UK version (which does not exist).

  • Mine is an UK model, I bought it from a spanish online store (www.andotel.com). Samsung is not limiting availability to Russia and Africa anymore. I wish to know if any B5702 owner can record calls because I don't have this option in the menu displayed by left softkey. If your model can record call conversation then please let me know what number that option occupies? Some C5212 owner in Malaysia posted in that forum he is able to record call conversations with his model. I'm intrigued by that - B5702, a more expensive model can't do that?!

  • CellGrave: What is the difference or complication in remembering left or right LED light instead of green and red? Sim 1 or 2 is also clearly displayed on the screen whether it is call in/out, sms in/out, contact in sim 1 or 2 etc.

  • I do not find it strange that this phone is not available in any stores outside Russia and Africa and the Middle East, as Samsung themselves have stated clearly that the phone would be released for those markets only. Regardless if Samsung has changed their mind or not as whether to release in other markets as well is irrelevant.. Expansys as well as a few other internet stores are probably selling phones imported from Russia or Africa and the Middle East. In Expansys case I think they import from the Middle East or Africa as their handset comes without the Russian letters on the numeric pad.

  • Thanks for the clarification Filipe. They should have used two different LED colors for each SIM so you will know what happened without touching the phone. I am still considering buying it.

  • Yes you may be right. Wouldn't it be strange that non of the Samsung branch in the world is selling except them.

  • Yes, that's correct, it has 2 blue LEDs, one for each SIM. In comparison to D880, the fonts used are smaller which doesn't create any difficulty when reading the screen, but this, together with a bigger screen means the mobile has more lines for showing info. Another thing I enjoyed a lot is that you can now add 'unknown' callers to the black list (by 'unknown' I don't mean numbers not in the phonebook, only those private numbers that don't show up on your screen when you're called. You can have up to 10 numbers on each contact and icons can be changed (mobile, fixed, work, home etc) - hooray to Samsung for that! You can set the phone to automatically change the default SIM for outgoing calls based on a time schedule (so you don't need to change anything yourself, in case you have 2 different SIMs that give discounts in these time periods). For example, from 7:00 AM to 4:59 PM the mobile will use SIM 1 and from 5:00 PM to 6:59 AM it will use SIM 2.

  • Really really thank u 10000000000000000 times i was damn worried and confused how to switch SIMs without rebooting and u gave the answer .. many thanks

  • I read on a web site that this baby has two separated LED’s for each SIM card. Is that true? Thanks in advance.

  • Bought this phone today in the Middle east and it seems to be good. Finally it is bigger than I though but it is ok. It is just that I had small phones before with one sim.

  • The poster saying that this phone is not available anywhere worldwide has posted that comment earlier in this thread, as well. Clearly he has not followed the links provided earlier by another poster to Samsungs own websites in Russia and the combined Africa and middle East Samsung site.

  • I think you are wrong (and an earlier poster, as well)... it states clearly on the Expnasys site: "This handset is a non UK handset, but is supplied with a UK mains charger, English manual and eXpansys 12 month warranty." Expansys is a legitmate and large web based supplier in this region and I have used them several times before for phone, computer peripherals (for private and business). I have never had any issues with them before, including a waranty issue and product replacement. I, as well as an associate of mine, have also ordered this phone from Expansys. Allthough the delivery date seems to go up and down, their support is good and fast and promise of delivery firm. The phone is available for sale through normal channels in Russia as well as in Arab countries and the Middle-East. The phone is delayed to other markets because it was not expected that it would be released in other markets, but due to popularity it is. (this info from a friend at DTAC Thailand). Hope this clarifies. Sam (Bangkok)

  • The company customer service sounds so fishy. Not sure whether it is really what i get as there are many imitation from china that can look exactly the same. No where in the world is selling now except they say its from UK. I check with some UK store and they claim they are not selling at all

  • does anyone know of a store (preferably in the US) that will ship to US? hopefully they have the phone in hand, not like expansys which keeps posting they will get the phone in _ days. thank you.

  • Sorry about that, Felipe! Thanks a lot for your answers! I too have ordered from Expanys, and hope to have it in my hands soon! Amorn

  • Hey, write your name when asking a question! - it's possible to deactivate only one of the two SIM cards; - no it's not possible to hide a contact from the phonebook list (either you have it or not) but you can have this contact stored in the SIM card and have the mobile to show only contacts in the telephone so the contacts in the SIM card won't be listed; - if you mean blacklist then yes, you can block only a specific number from a contact (or a number not in the phonebook or even 'unknown' callers).

  • Can anyone that have already got the phone help with the following questions: - Is it possible to "offline/flightmode" one sim card while keeping the other "live"? - Can a specified contact be hidden from being displayed when opening the contact list? - Call screening: Can I block one number of a contact and allow another from the same contact (f.ex. allow work phone but block home phone)?, or is the entire contact blocked (meaning all numbers entered under one specific contact are screened)? Thanks a lot!

  • I might buy this phone, the specs seem OK. The Samsung C5212 also seems alright as a dual sim phone. However, I'm am willing to wait for a future, smaller, lighter, dual sim phone, either from Samsung or another well-known manufacturer. Does anyone know about upcoming dual sim phone models?? I have searched endlessly in Google for an answer. Thanks in advance

  • Expansys Singapore now promises 10 days delivery from time of order;

  • Filipe, thank you for your fantastic tip on how to change the active SIM after typing a number. It works perfectly but it doesn't seem to be in the manual! You just saved my day!!!

  • does anybody know if this phone would also be released in the philippines?

  • Nope, it can store 300 SMS.

  • Is it true this phone can only store 200 SMS?

  • Is it really the phone can hold up to 11 hours talk time?

  • Expansys: 7 days refund/replacement, + 1 year warranty Their Singapore branch is really their Hong Kong branch, so number is HK.

  • How to do the SIM switching before making a call or sending a SMS? It's soooo damn easy :) Just press the switch button AFTER you typed in a number (any number, even a single digit), or when browsing the call list or the phonebook (never at standby screen). If you press the SIM switch when at standby screen then you'll inevitably force the phone to reboot in order to comply with your new standard (that means: when you restart the phone which one will be the default SIM). If you have any other question(s) just ask, I'll be glad to help. By the way, are you from a Portuguese-speaking country? I'm brazilian.

  • It is an excellent mobile with the features to receive calls on both SIMS at the same time. However; I am still trying to find out if I can do the switch from one SIM to the other without rebooting the mobile which happens when I do the switch. The camera is really great with its stable shot and so are the other features with Outlook contacts integration, radio, and a whole lot of other features. The audio quality is excellent. Need to figure out the SIM switching on the fly where I can decide on which SIM to use when making an external call.

  • Anybody have Expansys (Singapore)phone number. Number stated in the webpage is Hongkong number. How about warranty ?

  • I mean belt pouch :)

  • This is a great phone, a perfect replacement for my D880. I'm still getting used to the new way of switching lines, all in all I think it's a clever implementation over Samsung's first attempt. The back cover on B5702 has a latch to prevent slipping like it used to happen on D880 (when you put it in the belt puch). Nice metal finish, too. I'm very pleased with mine, it has nice sound quality and very good signal reception. I ordered the european version at www.andotel.com and got mine in 10 days.

  • Full set up and configuration wizzards + manual on Samsung website:

  • Samsungs official website for Middle East & Africa:

  • First paragraph of the launch of B5702 from Samsungs official Russian website: "Moscow, on April 8, 2009 - Samsung Electronics, which is the world leading producer of cell phones, presents its latest telephone which works with two sim cards. Model GT-B5702 was developed specially for the Russian market; however, its indisputable advantages has led to the fact that GT-B5702 will be brought out for the global market after the Russian launch."

  • By the way, I have emailed and phoned with their customer support several times after I placed and confirmed my order, so I have nothing to complain about when it comes to follow up, responsiveness, confirmation. (I am talking about the Singapore branch)

  • It is searchable and available to pre-order from Expansys (Singapore). They still have not shipped, though... will be approx 1 week before I will have it. It is the UK version, NOT the the Russian. See it here:

  • In the first place, this phone was not even officially launch. Whoever say they got it now could be ......

  • whoever suggested UK version available for pre-order at Expansys, you sure about that ? Call them up but they don't seem to be very responsive. Could be one of those Chinese made Samsung with the same look alike phone

  • Just got mine today and I must say this model won me over D880 (which I own too). Many improvements: - bigger, taller screen with smaller font which allows for more text to be displayed without compromising legibility (phonebook now shows 3 names instead of 2 like D880); - you can (finally!) assign your own mp3 files, voice records and even FM radio clips as tones to SMS and MMS; - you can have hidden (numbers not shown) incoming calls added to the black list; - SIM names can now have up to 20 characters unlike 5 on D880; - the SIM switch button (now at right side) works differently: it switches the default outgoing calls permanently - until you press it again - unlike D880 where you must press the switch before every outgoing call using secondary SIM, so in B5702 if you want to make many calls with the secondary SIM you don't need to press the switch button before every call (only when you wish to return to the other SIM for default calls); - you can assign time periods for automatic change of default SIM cards for outgoing calls so as an example, you can set the phone to automatically use SIM 1 for outgoing calls from 08:00 AM to 10:00 PM and SIM 2 from 10:00 PM to 08:00 AM or whatever schedule is better for you - purchased mine at www.andotel.com, they have fast and reliable service. The model I received has Deutsch, English, Italiano, Franais, Espaol, Portugus (Portugal), Nederlanden, Catal, Galego and Euskara languages. I hope my small review helps you make your decision! I am most happy with mine.

  • I paid Singapore Dollars 494.99 + shipping. Shipping as of June 30th at www.expansys.com.sg

  • Plz any body know abt sms storage capacity ?

  • This one is far better as both lines are quadband while older models are only triband (900/1800/1900) in the main line and dualband (900/1800) in the secondary line. Plus I'm a great fan of Samsung's sliders, I own 2 D880 today and will replace one of them with a B5702. Already bought it, can't wait for its arrival. Come to papa!

  • any ideas bout the price?....how much will it be in USD?.....your feedback will be appreciated....thanks and more power...

  • been waiting for this fone to come out in KSA....any ideas guyz?....i'm dying to grab this fone once it is available here in the Kingdom....please advise....

  • UK version available for pre-order at Expansys now!

  • which one is better? this handset or D980?...i see the difference only being slide and touchscreen....

  • Try Andotel.com (it's in Spain) for shipping to the european union. I am negotiating with them for shipping one unit to Rio de Janeiro.

  • I saw it for sale at FNAC for 249.90, is that the best price I can get in Portugal? One more question: the D880 russian version I first got had the right soft button to show contacts, but the brazilian version released here a year later has 'Mensag.' in the right soft key and contacts are accessed by using the D-pad down. I prefer it that way, contacts accessed by D-pad down. Is the Portuguese version like that too?

  • i buy it in portugal.. its on the market since march 2009 and its a wonderfull cellphone. i'm shure that anyone will be delighted.

  • it's allready selling in lithunia :)

  • It's all in Russian, I don't understand Russian. I don't know if they ship to the UK.

  • Already available: 12990 Rubles at euroset.ru

  • does anyone kno when this fone is out???

  • Can't wait to hold it in my hands. Very nice phone!

  • I saw it on samsung russia site I think that if just be sell and just will be sell in Mother Russia. Don't me ask why, because is only a thought.

  • People post comments like they are already using this mobile. I don't see it available anywhere for buying. Any tips?

  • why is not accepting application like Bible and Dictionary and others things semilar. Good design and well finished phone but that is the problem that is one of the reason Nokia is winning Nigeria market today if you can look into this you see that samsung will have nigeria market within a short time.

  • Good design from Samsung for its dimension better to use 240x320 - 2.6/2.8 display, + 3G, and half querty keyboard... Nice...

  • I am planning to buy this set.. but heard there is some manufactoring defect isthere....anybore knows about that....

  • I agree with you Anonymous no point in paying extra money for a few feature's. even i am planning to buy confused between this one and C5212.

  • 17.5mm is too thick and there is no flash.

  • mmm sexy

  • I only miss a 5MP camera...

  • Does this unit have flash bulb on the camera? Hoew much is the unit cost in US Dollar?

  • check this out.

  • dualsim edge&edge no write

  • this is mobile telephone dualsim edge&edge supported

  • Hmm...nice quadband dualsim phone..but still waiting for a 3g quadband dualsim phone...:) when will you arrive???????????

  • Superb mobile.... No more words...

  • Well well, it's surely a really nice item, but what about the price ? It's gonna be something like 350-400 I guess, while the C5212 will be around 200. So you pay a lot just for the SIM leds and cooler design, the quad-band capacity and the better camera. (Maybe also a better battery). Personaly I'm not interest in these features behalf of the battery and the sim leds, and as I won't pay 200 for it I guess I'll take the C5212 ;) But when is it coming out ??

  • They want proof that Samsung is really the no. 1, here you are... Dual active SIM quad band mobile phone, etc... Not Nokia anymore...

  • about time, after ive wasted so much money on the cheap quad band dual sims from china! i almost hate the delay for a quad band dual sim from samsung so much im tempted to boycott them!

  • i hope samsung can solve their most famous problem of weak battery on this fone.

  • Why is it such a pleasure to be the first to post on this forum? I guess you guys must go out more.

  • Nice! QuadBand!

  • Nice dual sim phone(First)
