BTW, there is an option to download voice recordings from E630 to your PC. You need to modify firmware with ResMan (a patch for accessing all folders is available online) and then flash the phone with OpenSFD. All the aforementioned programs are free.

Yes, you can print the photos. Just use some synchronizing software (version 1 of "PIMS file manager" by Samsung is one free option - just search for 20050816162816765_PIMS_File_Manager.exe). Then use it with a USB cable or infrared port to copy the pictures to your computer.

The infrared works fine, you need to install Samsung's PIMS and file manager 1.0 to use it. problem being that the maximum file size is 200kb :(

I have been using this mobile for the last two years.But, it's only recently that it has started giving troubles. The problem is that the display doesn;t work at all.even though the background functionality is working fine, I have to blindly work with the keys(As I don't see anything on the display screen). I can't remember when was the last time I have send SMS using it!!! :-( Could someone please help me out to sort out this problem as day by day it's getting even worse. To get pictures/ringtones to the phone you need to get a data cable. At least it is supposed to work better than the Ir port. The Ir port does work at least my computer can find it although I have not been able to get the phone to receive anything yet. Nice phone so far, but all I wanted was a fairly basic phone. Nothing amazing. Plus I don't use the e-mail part so it's not a problem.

If you keep it in pants poket, you�ll have to return all incoming calls, cause the ringtone volume increase gradualy. So when you hear it, time is up to replie. And these feature is not configurable :(

this phone is garbage...i regret getting this phone. you can't do anything with it. i tried using the software from samsungmobile,but it still didn't want to send ringtones or pictures. it makes a great hacky sack to kick around with my step son!!

I have a d500 and I just bought the e630 for my wife. The e630 might be a cheaper fone but in my opinion it's a lot better and more user friendly. It might not have bluetooth, mp3 or video camera but it has a better feel to it because it doesn't feel like one of the cheaper fones- it feels sturdy and well made and not to mention that the functions are very easy to use. But we both love our Samsungs and would NEVER go back to our old Nokias!

I've had this phone for almost two years now and I've enjoyed it very much. But because I now want a phone with MP3 and so on, I'll have to get another one. Referring to all the infrared questions: I've been told that I can only send business cards(name + number of contact person) to other phones and nothing else, defenitely not connect it to the computer by infrared. I use a datacable for that, and it works fine. Only problem was that the E630 has an almost unique output, so only a datacable specifically for E630 will work. I like the sliding mechanism by the way, it doesn't pop up so fast automatically so you can choose how far you wanna slide it up. With other phones I always get the feeling it will slide right off... And yes, it's a simple phone, with no MP3, video and so on, but all of you who bought this phone and are now annoyed about that: you could have read that in the specs on every possible site!

Yday I got this phone and started playing around. As this doesn't have bluetooth, I tried to use Infrared and that as everyone in this forum said, didnt work. When I tried pushing a file to this phone, it starts sending file and in the end a message comes out with error. Later I found that we need EasyStudio to do so, but since then life is easy... worth trying guys, Go to, and download, EasyStudio (Ver. 1.0.0.1) let me know how it works,

Got both the E630 and E635. Basically, E630 is the one that works - ie. no picture mail crashing problem found on the e635, thus, it's a firmware problem. Have sent the E635 to Samsung USA for repairs, they do know about this problem, but as of 3/21/06, have no fix for it. Difference between the two? 1) Screen on the E635 is far, far brighter at Max vs. E630! By Far! Definitely 2x or so. 2) e630 allows for music ringtone downloads over wap. just visit any of the free ringtone download sites, and you can grab them for free. No go on the E635 that's locked to T-Mobile service. 3) Opera Mini and other Java apps run on the E630, not always on the E635. However, T-Mobile not only has in-phone restrictions for the E635, it also has network blocks as well, so you won't even get Google Local Mobile running right on the E630 if you just happen to be on the $4.99 wap plan and T-Mobile has blocked access to ports in your area. Thankfully, Opera Mini does run fine on the E630, so that's a plus. 4) menus and buttons are different - completely different layout, so be aware! switching between the two. 5) E630 has a matte keypad and black casing; E635 has a glossy keypad and black casing. Matte is better for the keypad, but I'd like glossy for everything else - don't suppose they'll ever make a mix. 6) Keypads are different in feel when depressed. E630 has a crisper feel, that allows for faster texting; E635 has less feedback, is more mushy, and is harder to text quickly (esp. on the glossy keys blind). 7) They left all of the wap/java/etc. IP/Proxy settings in the E630, took them out of the E635 =( (Bad T-Mobile, bad!) 8) E630 camera has super-fine, fine, etc. settings for picture compression; took all of that out of the E635. 9) Accessories are fully compatible. 10) Have taken apart the E630, and it's a very simple phone to disassemble - probably will have to put the nice E635 screen on the E630 model I have once it's back from repairs (we'll see if they ever fix the picture mail crashing firmware bug in the E635). 11) Parts are next to impossible to get for E630 in the USA - Samsung USA only fixes E635s, and they don't handle anything else =( and they don't sell parts like a spare keypad or D-Pad for home user repairs. (bad samsung bad) 12) There are minor differences in apps and so forth throughout the phone - I'd say if you have the $, get the E630. Otherwise, you'll have to put up with the E635 for free and watch it crash on picture messages (and you won't be able to run most network java apps either). 13) Both phones are outclassed in features and functionality by other phones in the class and price range - eg. Motorola V330. Who would have thought that the V330 has a secure PIN keyboard lock feature you can activate at any time; but the Samsung doens't (only locks on startup, but what if you want to lock the phone powered on to prevent misuse if lost?!?). There are a LOT of dumb Samsung things that they either left out, or simply didn't implement as well as on other phones, so you'll be frustrated as a power user trying to get this phone to work the way it 'should' (and then discover that half of those can't be done). =( (eg. no T9 input when WAP/Internet'ing! how backwards is that!)

This phone is not even worth a dime, no video recorder, no MP3 player and no bluetooth. Also the ringtones are so low you will have way too many missed calls. Try the D500, D600, or the T809. I have used all three and they rock!!

1. For the similar E635 model (USA only) since there's no other place here to post. 2. The T-Mobile E635 (HW version: 1.200, SW version: PE635.06, E635UVEF3) has a BIG problem - any picture message that is longer than one page will crash the phone during scrolling through to read it. 3. This problem was duplicated on my end on 4 new E635 phones sent to me by T-Mobile - all had the same FW/HW version. 4. You can easily duplicate this by simply creating a new 'picture message' on your phone. Enter only text for the 'subject' and 'message'. Make sure the 'message' is longer than one screenful. Save this message to the 'drafts' folder. Open this message on the phone to read the message body, scroll from top to bottom, bottom to top, and repeat until you see the phone lock up/freeze, reboot, and drop you back to the idle screen. (On short messages, you may have to scroll up and down 5-10x times before you encounter this. On longer messages sent from external email accounts to the phone, it'll happen on the first or second set.) Both Samsung USA and T-Mobile as of this date (1/17/2006) have no idea what to do about this problem, have not 'heard' anything about it besides from me, and have no fix for it. =--------- I'd love to hear from other E630/E635 users if they can duplicate this error. (No I'm not trying to cause trouble, just trying to see if I'm just 'unlucky' with four bad phones.) Thanks! =) BTW. If you want to see the firmware version, *#9999#

Help please! I love this phone but I just dropped it on concrete and now two buttons don't work! My "up" navigational button (the one that correlates to the camara) and the functional key to the right of that (the one that clicks to open your phonebook) doesn't work anymore!. - Speakerphone and speaker volume do not go as loud as on other phones. In particular, the speakerphone is not as loud as a Kyocera Slider V5 phone I had on the Virgin Mobile USA system. In a quiet room, both are okay; in a car or city street, you'll have to put the phone closer to your ear to hear correctly. This is why Samsung has that optional speakerphone attachment that goes into the headphone jack on the side of the phone for louder speakerphone conversations. The speaker volume is also not as loud as my older phone - thus, in a very, very loud environment such as a baseball arena, you will have trouble hearing the caller (again, vs. a kyocera slider/etc). It is very good in all other cases however - office, indoors, etc. all OK. - Side, external volume buttons DO NOT adjust the ringer volume! =O =O They only adjust the key volume, which is a rather DUMB fact! Possibly the DUMBEST feature I've ever seen on a cell phone to date! - The phone is a touch (by a little bit) lower in RF reception quality than a Nokia 1100 in the concrete building I work in. You can hold a call on the Nokia and not lose a drop of audio walking around and spinning in circles in locations where the signal bar is down to 0 or 1. On the Samsung, you will drop audio for periods of time simply walking into a 0 - 1 bar zone, or spinning around in circles! Naturally, this also has to do with the fact that the Nokia probably has a higher power output than the Samsung (1.x vs. 0.7 according to SAR rating), and it has a bigger antenna space vs. tiny Samsung. In most areas, if you're on the Cingular system in the USA, you'll be fine. T-Mobile - I'd expect much lower signal strength and coverage like I've experienced with this phone. (Yes, swapping Cingular to T-Mobile SIM cards on this phone can result in 5-7 bars going down to 1-2 bars in reception. T-Mobile simply doesn't have as good coverage, even in Los Angeles.) And you will often see the phone get 2 bars (out of six) just sitting there on the desk, but it'll jump into "Searching..." mode for no reason at all. The T-Mobile tower sure didn't go down, and it shows the phone has trouble holding onto a connection to the tower in idle mode here at work. (Cingular is more solid; Sprint has never dropped the signal at all in my concrete work building.) - rectaungular, Samsung-only headset jack! =( =( =( Terrible given that you can not use any standard 2.5" phone headset with this phone, and even though the included headset from Samsung is of high call and audio quality, minus ratings here for not using an industry standard jack. No bluetooth either, so this is a big loss for many users with custom/other headsets. - T-Mobile E635 USA model. Terrible because they locked all of the 'useful' features and you can't get any useful downloads to occur between phone and PC (eg. backgrounds, ringtones, etc.). You can only download the SIM contacts and SMS using the Samsung file manager with the locked T-Mobile USA E635. Better to get the unlocked E630 instead if you want more control over this phone. - Awkward placement of the camera button on the side of the phone. You can start the camera up using the 4-way pad (on the USA E635) and the menus, but the side button is too low IMO. It should have been placed farther up. - Can't turn off Camera Shutter sound (w/o reflashing anyways) on the E635. Probably true on the E630 as well based on that other comment re: Samsungs always have this on. Very annoying! - No voice controlled anything! Come on now! On a $200+ phone, it can't voice dial vs. a 8MB to load on a desktop browser! - No camera lens cover. - No true flash. Only a bright LED light and that's only good for 2 feet max at night. - No user customizable menu colors; can only pick from default 4 on the USA E635 locked. - None of the call records show the total call length of each call! Well I have this fone for 3 months now and i must say its pretty neat. But as was mentioned the infared doesnt work properly it may start transfering then it fails, and when you try to scroll through the MMS sent folder the fone turns off....? Pleanse help. My cell is given to me from a friend. Whenever i switch off the phone, the flash light in the back turns on and there's no way to turn it off, so it drains a lot of battery. Also, I can't get any midi or mmf ringtone files from other cell or throught a infrared usb adapter. Anyone know whats wrong? It's a very reliable phone! I know many ppl that are using it are all of them are relly satisfied! Most I like it's the sound and the volume of the 64 chanel polyphonic tones..ans also that it has Java! The camera it's also good for a vga cam...and the flash...that's really a bonus for Samsung!!! 20 Mb it's enough for pictures, mms and java applications, trust me! So..if you can't decide...I suggest you buy this model and you'll be satisfied! bye!

phone is portable, pretty elegant, generally easy and good to use however the infrared port functions very unlike other phones and makes direct downloading ringtones, games and pictures impossible. my previous siemens SL55 gave me this value adding options and i was shocked to find this wouldn't. honestly if the shop was willing to take it back i would have returned it in exchange for a siemens SL65. so samsung, work on the infrared and potential blue tooth facility.

I'm having problems with the ringtones... I have set a default ringtone onto the phone [via Menu > Sound Settings > Incoming calls > and selecting a tone from Default Melodies]. However, whenever I receive phone calls, it does not play the one I have selected [Escape] and instead plays Beatbox. When I go back to check which one is selected, it still says that Escape is the one that is chosen. The only way I can seem to get a ringtone other than Beatbox to play is to set an alert for each individual person. How do I fix this? Thanks to anyone who can help...

Help please! I love this phone but I just dropped it on concrete and now two buttons don't work! My "up" navigational button (the one that correlates to the camara) and the functional key to the right of that (the one that clicks to open your phonebook) doesn't work anymore! Here is the link to Samsung's downloads for the E630 "tinyurl.com" is a free service to shorten the web address, the link goes directly to Samsung's website. I like this phone, but its features are clunky. Getting into SMS is not direct, my old phone (Samsung X105) put you directly into SMS. Also, I like using T9 for PARTIAL words, as I use PinYin (Chinese Roman) a lot. I like typing half a word with T9 and then using the scroll to look for the right partial word. You cannot scroll partial words with the E630 :-( It is also REALLY LIGHT. If you are a big guy like me, you may find it a bit flimsy. My X105 was not a folder/slider, it was just an open phone, but I got used to it as it was solid. I'd say this phone is best for people with small hands. You cannot play MP3 with it. The MP3 function is for RINGTONE only. If you want to add features, its best to get the data cable. The headset connector is NOT a regular one, it is Samsung proprietary. YOu can only get a headset from Samsung. Samsung offers a stereo headset, which is confusing as you cannot play music on this phone.. One thing, the speaker add-on is pretty amazing for speakerphone use. I use it often and it is VERY loud for a tiny little phone like this.

No, you are wrong. You can post pictures and rintones to your handphone via infrared with you com. All you need is the software, which is provided in most samsung fun club.. you should check your country's samsung fun club page for the software download :)

I Have T-Mobile, I had the same problem, I rang them (150) and asked them to send me an update to the new phone as your sim card still contains the settings for your old mobile. Its easy, they send you a few TXT's you open them click yes to change settings. Also you should send yourself a TXT and MMS as that also alters settings on your phone!

Good phone, apart from the naff slide mechanism. The other thing that annoys me is you only have a choice of a few sounds for the TXT/MMS. But does anyone know why you cant use images stored in the media box and attach them to the Caller ID? I can attach a picture from anywhere else!

great design, a big change from my old candy bar type cellphones. probably the smallest slide up phone from samsung so its very handy. the display is bright and the screen has big display. the ringing tones are good and loud enough and can be made louder with included speaker. the vga camera's picture are better than the leading brand's vga cameras because of more accurate colors. the T9 dictionary can't be turned off, but can be easily changed with one press before each sms. i just don't like the 10 preset messages' tones which are very soft and can hardly be heard. also there are 2 T9 dictionaries in my unit. one english and the other for another country. can the service centers replace the messages' tones and one of the dictionaries by replacing the software. any idea, thanks.

i am using cingular sim card on my E630 at first it didn't work. It syas no service, i checked the phone setting and changed the band. I highlighted the triband setting and it worked. probably it was preset to gsm 900 or 1900. go to network services and select the band selection then triband. I hope this will help.

Mine is E638. When I tried to turn on my cell phone with my T-Mobile SIM card, the phone will show a message saying "Welcome to T-Mobile", but then it won't do anything further. It looks like the phone was frozen there. I tried to use a friend's SIM card(Cingular), and it worked just fine. It also worked with another friend's SIM card(she was with Voicestream before but now with T-Mobile). And also any current T-Mobile sim card just won't work on that phone. The E630 is a low budget 'replica' of the ever popular D500.. but the less you pay, the less features you get, and this is the case with the E630. The photo quality is poor and I dont really like the overall feel of the phone. The one thing I will admit is that it looks good... and will cause a few turning heads. 2/5

Hey Shawn. I use mine with Tmobile. Go to Network settings try changing your network selection to manual. Also you might want to change your band selection. Its really odd cos your phone recognizes that Cingular...Where did you get your phone? My E630 says Cingular when it's on. I have T-MOBILE, does anyone know how to make it read T-MOBILE? Also, I when sending text, you can't switch between numerical charachters and the alpha bet by clicking on a certain key to change, you have to swtich the back browser to change it. ahm....Bluetooth anybody ?!?!?!? In the specifications of the phone....I mean on www.gsmarena.com ...they haven`t mentioned bluetooth. If this phone has no bluetooth it`s almost obsolete ppl !

this phone is great! i love it..although the sliding is not as good as the others..but frankly speaking i prefer this than e800c.E800c buttons is 2 diffcult to sms compared to E630c which is much more easier!

you can sync this phone with a pc ..using infrared port as well as a data cable ..pls check the port setting when using the software ..this can be done like this ...open easystudio...click setup in the file menu....select IrDA in the drop down menu for "ports" ...

It�s a nice looking phone, but does any body know how can i sync the pc with this phone?? The software provided by samsung "easystudio" cannot make this sync. The Infrared doesn�t sync....etc. Waiting to hear from you guys.

read the whole thing and u can get something usufull out of it i am sure about this,,,,,,well yeah after 7 years with nokia phones i finally changed to samsungs( which is the right choice)as nokia is expenssive and not as much options in my e630 and now for the ones who were asking if they can make the tones vibrates at the same time when it rings and if the lightings could be in and off with it,well yeah it can be done all what u would need a software to do all of this for u to adjust the tone as u want it to be louder even if u want and then via the irda upload it to ur phone ...and by the way i have the software plz feel free to contact me for any details..thx ayman from egypt

hi there. i sold my e700(if you want to buy this phone keep it just for 6-7 months, after that you'll have problems with camera and after a period the display won't work ) and i've bought e630 a few days ago and i compared it with my friend phone (e800). e630 smaller and easyer than e800. the design is better than e800. the phone has built-in handsfree and it also comes with an adapter asa you can see in the pictures wich makes the sound louder. i like the phone a lot. buy the phone it's very nice. sorry for my english

Seems that though it supports java but I'm inable to download free games from various wap sites. Cos I think this phone supports downloading of games from worldwide web??? But overall, it's a noce phone to use...

i would say the e800 is better in terms of options or memory and everything but it's only dual band meanign it only can work in certain countries but i believe the e630 is triband which works in most countries all over.

Hows the sliding ? I heard from my friend who owned one E630, the paint of the slide is dropping after some times. Bcos its totally manual slide. But other features r quite good, which is almost everything u needed. Too bad, it doesnt has a video mode. I would like either buying E630 or D500. But D500 is around Rm2300, which is like double of E630 which is rm1300-1500.

E630's price in Malaysia is around RM1300-1500, the highest price is the Limited Edition version in ruby red. From my opinion, this phone rocks the samsung slide phone industry, good looks, great style and convenient functions. As a club enthusiast, the E630 has the 'club' style and atmosphere which makes this phone the first on my buying list.. and its much cheaper than the E800 too. Farhat H.

Finally something better from Samsung, Hey Samsung Just put MP3 in this thing and you are far ahead from Nokia 6xxx, Great desgin and excellent SOUND MATE and voice clarity, on first look resembles like old samsung phones (already quite to many with all same features)but play with it you wont regret it, a real MALE phone a bit high price (18500/PAKISTAN RUPEES=315 US $), anybody looking for a new mobile try this one , Motorola v3 is a crap at around 575 US $, Keep it up Samsung, get price a bit down, add blue tooth, MP3, You are already up in Display and Ringtones , give it a more flare...!

Well i just got info from a expect at CQ wireless in houston. He has tested the phone himself, and he says on any service it may lose it and it will not be able to read it. So you have to turn it on and off. Well i wouldnt appreciate turning it off and on. He found the same problem in another e630. But t-mobile is releasing a e630 soon of theirs, with this bug fixed.

The phone cant play a tone and vibrate at the same time but it can do it just at some special melodies containing a vibrations track. By chance, i found these special melodies from samsungmobile website. In other words, some ringtones they offer containing vbrtations tracks. Regster your phone there and get free points to download! In Asian countries the phone comes in slver-black and red (MTV Asia Awards verson) for more details e.g price, etc visit samsung mobile website of your country

just got this phone from france. this phone is soo small with elegant design and so cute suitable for girls. the camera is surprisingly good, better than k700i in my opinion. the display is bright and crisp it even brighter than k700i..the ringtone is so loud and nice.. the 64 polyphonic ringtones i use even better than mp3 sound and it can also ringing and vibrate at the same time but you have to d/load it from samsung website. i got no problem to transfer files via Infra Red but you have to install first the Easy Studio on the computer. unlike e800 you still can easily write sms with one hand despite its small size thanks to its nicely design keypad. not to forget the very useful function - voice memo, which can be recorded up to 6 hours. the only downside - no semi sliding mechanism as e800. overall its a very small and nice userfriendly phone. my score for this phone 8.5/10

Just seen it & played with it at a big electronic store. What a nice small & beautiful phone. It look so much nicer live than picture. My three friends (one male & two female) whom accompany me to the store are all very much interested in this Samsung E638 hand phone. The male friend instantly brought one. The two female friends both happened to be using their newly brought Motorola V3 & surprisingly both wanted to trade in their V3's for this phone, but the trade in price of the V3 is only about half what they paid for! So the two ladies are thinking of selling their existing V3 at some second hand mobile phone shop & buy the Samsung E638. (The two ladies are both frustrasted by the un-user friendliness of the V3! )

I bought this phone about a months ago. If you're interested in a design, light and small phone, this is the one. If you're looking for features, performance... than you should try another phone. The sound is great, the reception is average, battery, surprinsingly for samsung, will hold you for at least 3 days (that's if you really talk a lot and play with the phone very often), and can go even up to 5 (that's a very rare occasion). T9 - very frustrating, cannot be turned off permanently. Sliding mechanism can give u some worries, since it can open by itself if u keep it in your pocket.

Well, besides the connectivity thingy, this phone's not bad at all. The design's awesome and the size is magnificent. But well, no bluetooth and you can't use the infrared to share what's inside your gallery is well dissapointing... And also the feature for SMS is not much differs from n6510 (!!!) even worse.. It's almost the same with n3310 or n3330 (!!!!!!!!!!)

I have no problems with the repetion so far, seems good to me. The battery lasts 3/4 days in a normal use. It HAS loudspeaker (even without soundmate).

Just bought it and I love it. It's very small and light and it's really beautiful. It's much better seen live than in photos. The camera is amazing! Best Samsung phone after the D500.

E630 is just a piece of crap. It has a great design, but the same old functions and functional mistakes like older ( 2-3 years old) models. Actually E630 is an old stuffing in new shell.
