Motorola V186 - User Reviews

  • Hi, I have this cell phone since december 2005. It has been dropped, abused, always brouht in a pants pocket with both keys and money and it still works well. The only downside to this phone is you just don't hear it ring.

  • honestly i like the design but the battery is very poor, cause of dat i have to change my gsm at last.

  • this is the 2nd phone i bought, the onli thing i really love about this phone is the shape and design, its comfortable while talking to someone. but beyond that. the screen is very small, phones without MP3 and a camera is sort of a pain in the ass.

  • Awesome bang for you buck. Lots of features that the more expensive phones have. Build quality/feel is not stellar but so far it's held up great after 1-1/2 years. I do wish it had a larger screen.

  • i had this phone i loved it and i would of still had it if i didnt put it throught the wash... twice. Very pleased with it though

  • Good phone: dependable, reliable and the srevice/reception is wonderful. Quad band-fantastic. Missing a camera. Need to unlock phone ???

  • this phone is ok it just needs some more videos and camera but other than that its ok.

  • i agree with the few people on here that realize we are talking about the V186. its a great tough phone and the only problem i have is deleting the stuff on it that is taking up my space. other than that..its great. ive dropped it so many times and its still hanging on there by force. but does anyone know how to get the locked media from much music off of it?

  • i love my phone!!!!!!!!!! its so sexy, i put rhinestones all over it anyways... the signal is great and even works @ my cottage (unheard of from the likes of the razr or any samsung model) i have sooo many games and ringtones... the whole usb cable business is annoying and its ringer def. isnt loud enough to be heard when its in my purse i find tht wen ur txt messaging its annoying to have to select all the letters... but overall i love it (the only way it cud be better is if it had a cam!)

  • the v180s signal is much better than the v3x,incredible uh? (i have the both of them). And 4 dino: the cable costs 3 dolars(generic) n the sw you can dowload from the web.

  • I got this phone WITHOUT a USB CABLE which SUCKED. Then I saw I have to pay $60 for the cable and software from motorola.com . I got the cable and need the software Motorola Phone Tools 4.0. I refuse to pay $60 for this . Does anyone know where I can get this for free anywhere online?

  • It is a sweet phone and i am thinking about geting me one.

  • This phone was great. It worked to its full potenial. I was surprised that Cingular discontinued this phone. Although I did have some problems with this phone it was nothing that couldnt be fixed. I had this phone for almost 4 years. I was sort of sad when Cingular offered me an upgrade.

  • that porkeria uaaaaaacala!!!! very very old this phone

  • i like it it's a great phone

  • i bought this fone jus yesterday...and already its giving me probs...man this fone dosen't rule.way to go motorola u made me spend 299.95 for a fone that suck.the fone dosen't even come with a head fone niether a usb chord.this was a rip off.u should get uptodate...like SE...now they have good fones my hole village likes SE and also hav SE fones...wat im trying to say is make one really GOOD FONE...to bring ur company up...rite now the fone i really like is the SE k750i...everytime i wake up i read more about it...and they really tell u about the fone SE RULES..even my 10 year old bro wants u SE fone he wants the SEk608 or the SE600...anyway make a fone that rules

  • I just bought this phone yesterday, but after reading all the emails, i hope i don't regret buying it.

  • I had this phone for about 15 months. It worked great for the first 9 or so, but after a while the reception gets horrible...even with 3 bars, calls perpetually failed. To make calls at all, I had to stand near a window, and then the call usually dropped after about 10 minutes. I spent more minutes saying "Can you hear me?" than actually talking. I know 4 other people with this phone and its brother (v180), and we've all had the same issues. The phone also "blanked" at random; that is, the screen would turn black for a while, then seem to reset. It's decent for an entry level phone, but if you want something that will last, you might actually save money by getting a higher priced phone. If you do the prepaid thing and just want something temporary, then this might be the phone for you, because otherwise I have no complaints. -JJJ

  • well,i just got and it seens to be working just well, much better than the one i had before, but i wish it had more space

  • I think this phone is good. Its a flip phone so it makes it better. The only problem is that it has a low memory.

  • This phone is a minion of the antichrist. It has caused me nothing but stress and inconvenience. My screen only seems to work when it wants to and i have to plaster myself against the window when i talk in order to get any service.

  • its sooooooooooooooooo gooooooooooood !!!!!!!!!!!!! I luv this phone its the best phone

  • this phone sucks! the back panel is constantly falling off, and now i've completely lost it, so the battery is now totally exposed. the menu button is really hard to push and i always push other keys trying to get to it.

  • Idk about this phone but the v180 has a lot of glitches and is a really bad phone. I know a lot of people that have them that have had the same problems My whole screen is purple

  • this is a basic phone, no camera, no mp3 and no card slot, i never got problems using this phone. it's was perfect to me before a bastard thief me. the keyboard is also very good, no small buttons and not a lot of "shortcut" buttons thats make the phone look heavy and crappy. just the price don't fit very well, but it was a good phone for me. i think the screen could be larger (176x220)and a bit more memory would be fine, anyway it still a good phone.

  • well the v186 and the v180 are pretty much the same and I must say i'm very happy with this phone, i guess i'm lucky because I almost been a year with it and it has no problems on calls (static, etc) and nothing has happened to the lights of the keyboards or the text messages :D

  • I think that I have the v186. And it has been working well. The one I had before was the v180 and it wasn't a very good one, I had gotten it in march, and it stoped working in about 5 months. the srceen went black, when I answered the phone it would hang up on who was calling unless I opened it like a granny, the screen magically broke out of nowhere, I had only accidently droped it once and it didn't have any problems, this was about the second month I had it. I had to send for a new one because eventually I couldn't even answer phone calls even if I tried every way possible. All of my pictures of my friends in the army are lost. And it's all because of the v180. Now as I said I have the v186, I think and I have only had it for a few months. So far it is much better than the first one but it likes to literally jump out of my pocket or lap, my feonce verifies. But if there is anymore problems with motorola I am going to switch companies permanantly. If I have a question, why are there so many manufacuring defects in the motorola phones and they are still being continued. If I continue with this company will I have to eventually worry about my ear being blown off by my phone exploding (nicest way possible)?

  • is this not a V180? badge on the handset seems to think so??

  • This phone is horrible. My first one it worked well for a bit, but then the screen started to look like a nintendo game gone bad. It became a big blob of colors and could not make out what anything was. So then I got a replacement phone, which no one could hear me even when I had full reception. Then finally I received a third replacement, and it even was worse.

  • This phone is the worst I have evr had. i begged my dad for it and now I wish i wouldn't have. it worked good for the first 4 months but then the screen started blacking during calls and while i was doing things. my voicemail doesn't work. i would deffinately suggest getting a nokia...they make the best phone with the best quality.

  • Hi I have motorola V186 but now I have problem becouse if I want to find somebody from my phonebook but fast just to pres the letter and to see the name I can`t and I don`t know how to fix this to be easy for me to find the people from my phonebook!

  • ii moaned at my dad to give me this phone because it was his and in the end he give in and let e have it but now the screan isnt working and iv done nowt to it and it doesnt vibrate any more its crap i wish id have waited and got the next one up the camera one it would of been better and it is the v186 coz it says on da phone its a pille of crap

  • I have V186, but the keys are not functioning again, please who can help me to solve this problem, I can't even received calls, I cant make calls too. Please.

  • I have a Nokia and i'm married with it. But this motorola seems to be very good Quad Banda EDGE and all at the same price than V180. Nice Phone.

  • I bought a V186 but still I can't activate wap service on it, even the sim card worked on my previous mobile phone. There is somebody who know how to fix the wap using the key board ? Please, help me because the Mobile Operator (Orange) in my country, still wasn't able to do it till now. THANK YOU!!!

  • I would like to point out that any reception problems and such, usally aren't the phone, but the service provider. If theres no reception, of course its like your talking to a wall! This phone is excellent.

  • This is my second phone. & I must say, it was horrible. I could not talk to my friends on this phone of mine because not only did it have static, it stopped working on me! Out of the blue this one day, my friends could not hear me on the other line. Now I'm getting a new phone or this fixed. I don't like Motorola all too much but my father picked out my phone. So I say, get another Motorola phone or just get another phone. Something besides this. =]

  • I don't want to be a stick in the mud here, but this isnt the 180. It's the 186. The 180 didnt have edge and some other stuff. The 186 is an excellent phone, I have no complaints.

  • I bought this phone three days ago 'coz I really wanted a Motorola. I ignored the bad comments but yesterday, the keyboard light stopped working at times. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I have taken no risk and took it to the shop where I had the choice between a Panasonic and a Samsung. Because I've had many Pana's, I took the Samsung, just to see if it's better. Someday, maybe, I'll buy a Motorola again, but a more expensive model, these are of much better quality. For now, I doubt the reliability of the V180, I think you better buy the V620!

  • I just got this phone (v186M (M==much music edition)). I have to say, I am super impressed. I got it for the plan it came with, and didn't expect all these features! I can watch videos, music, pictures, all with highquality for cell phone standards. I am disapointed in the storage size, but it has excellent reception, a good speaker, excellent features. I couldn't have asked for anything better for what I paid!

  • well i used to read all these reviews on products and thought well there are only bad comments about these phones cuz who wants to take the time to write about something that they're perfectly happy with. well i was wrong! i bought this phone and within the first month the sceen kept craping out and disconecting my calls. I was soo happy cuz i would still get charged for a minute cuz it would connect for all on one second. so needless to say if you read this please consider any other phone. its made of cheap plastic that has way to much flex and the screen sucks. i would much rather have a phone that worked then a phone that looked cool but is total crap. so if you read this please dont be like me and say ohh well it doesnt have taht many bad reviews. just go for something else and it will save you alot of time and money in the long run

  • This looks just like the V180 which I have. I am not at all pleased with it. I have complained to the company. I cannot use it at all in large buildings, it just will not connect. If I am in the Mall or even in WalMart I have to go to the outside door and use it. I think this phone is a big rip-off. I would love to have my Nokia back, which I am working on.

  • I had a V180 and I started hearing static in the phone when I was on a call. Everyone I talked to said they heard it too. I charged up my old Nokia 3595 and put the sim chip in and have been usinf it for the last two months. tha V180 only laster 3 weeks and I never dropped it once.what a peice of crap.

  • Well i like this phone, my friend has one like it but how much does it cost???

  • This LOOKS like the V180, however, Motorola appears to be producing a sister to the V180 [this V186] that sports EDGE. The V180 does not.

  • The name is v180, I already have it and it works very well, the only one problem is that the stamp is listened very down and is grated by facility, the rest of the problems that I have owe to the bad service of cellular telephony in Argentine

  • This is one of the best phones

  • motorola sucks NOKIA RULES!!!!!!!!!!

  • Better than v176 design. Beautiful looking device too. :)

  • this is te motorola v180 no v186

  • looks like the v220 design1
