  • This was purchased in a shop on Mong Kok, Hong Kong during my vacation there. The pro version is not available on the store at that time and also the pro version is thicker than the regular A9 They said the A series will get a nougat update soon but the the ones listed are only A5 and A7 I am a Filipino, my hands are not gigantic, if you use the phone its very slippery and will really test your grip but what I did is I am using a Ringke Case and I also purchased a Ring Grip so using the phone is very easy > I can use it with just one hand to be exact

  • Sorry for the late reply, I had to test it first to provide most accurate information. **w/ brightness in 50% > using the mobile data of the phone it lasted me 8 hours and 25 minutes before I got notified that the battery is in15%. I was on youtube live streaming the superbowl and also on facebook. **I haven't tested it using WIFI yet. **RAM is more than enough > games don't lag at all. Multitasking is comparable to flagships. **also I have MInecraft on the phone and I notice that this game is pretty hard on the battery.

  • when you first use your sim card with the phone please set the network to gsm only and do the manual network select then wait for a few while for it to connected to your telco network, after it has connected then you can change it to wcdma only or wcdma/gsm auto connect.

  • I think your google play was set to "auto-update apps". Open Google Play --> Settings --> General ---> Auto-update apps. Choose 'Do Not Auto-update Apps or uncheck any options that says app auto update.

  • You can select 4g option only when you insert 4g sim card. If there is no 4g sim card, the phone will not display option to select LTE only option. Hope that helps.

Cant be fixed since only one ebay seller have lcd replacement screen and is not even original.   • My Xperia Z2 still waterproof after 2years usage. The sound is not very loud, but I can accept because it had waterproof. But the Samsung A9 (2016) is not waterproof but the sound is mediocre, you could not hear the ringtone in a noisy place, because the A9 ringtone volume is worse than my Z2.   • Could you please read the Gsmarena's review, I won't explain to you anymore: The Samsung A9 ringing phone volume just a 65.2dB, it is not so loud, it is just a minimum requirement/average. Do you know my Xperia Z2 is waterproof, the ringing phone volume is 75.7dB, which is better than the A9 (65.2dB). Sometime I also can't hear my ringtone even with max volume and put in my pocket and at noisy place. So A9 ringtone volume (65.2dB) must be worse.

  • Dear Friends, I am very disappointed about samsung Galaxy A9.I bought in hongkong on 9th July. 14th july I took some pictures, My back camera immediately focus out and warning camera failed message. I checked internet and did all the steps. No use...then finally did factory reset. The camera was working only 3 days again same problem. Now I did factory reset. My mobile hanging. I don't know how to restart. So, 100% Huawei is better than Samsung. All the samsung models have camera problems.

  • The Samsung A9 Pro is a lovely phone. it has vibrant screen colours; movies and photos look so alive on it. The battery seems to last forever, and takes only about an hour to charge. The exterior finish is excellent. The phone is only let down by the Marshmallow OS. The sound quality is amazing for taking calls, playing games and of course watching movies. Photos are captured beautifully and crisp. Hoping it will be released soon in the international market, as China model does not have the Google store.

  • Hi everyone, My Galaxy A9 2016 mobile phone came from Russia and after 3 weeks' of use I got black screen. Screen goes full of scrambled colorful pixels when I press volume down + power button (soft reset) and in download mode. All functions are up and running. Only screen. This is not a physical error or screen break; it just happened out of the blue. Samsung Turkey does not accept the phone as it is not sold in Turkey as well as in Russia. It came from Hong Kong to Russia I believe. I bump into SDS (Sudden Death Syndrome) is quite common in Samsung mobile phones and this is absoulutely a matter which is covered by guarantee period; however, my phone has no guarantee unfortunately in Turkey (nor in Russia). Any idea what the problem might be and how I can get it repaired. Many thanks.

  • i'm getting around 2days battery life with SOT 7-8hours. i think this is much better than the Samsung J7. which is also the reason i skipped the J7 over the A9 because of the battery life and also the fingerprint unlock (waaaayyy saves me time to unlock my phone as im required to use a password for my emails). i'm now thinking of giving this as a gift to wifey and get my self the A9 PRO :) and yes, no marshmallow yet as I have the HK version - the China version already has the marshmallow via OTA update.

  • Yes it supports 4G sim cards in both SIM1 and SIM2 slots. Do note in the SIM settings menu you have to select one of the two SIM slots for "Data" and cannot use 4G from both SIM1 and SIM2 at the same time. When either SIM is selected for "Data" the other SIM will fallback to 2G (i.e. Voice and SMS only). Whenever you want to switch 4G from SIM1 to SIM2, just go into Settings / SIM Card Manager to switch the slot used for "Data".

  • screen time for me is 7-8hrs but i only have 3g when i go home (i use waze when driving to and from work). wifi is always on when i got home. ave usage is 2days, as wifi is always almost on and i have my company email on sync (thats the main reason i got this phone anyways). sometimes i get 3days when i dont check emails that much (happens on the weekends). batter life is great considering the size of the screen. im using low brightness (auto), and power saver (turns off lights on capacitive buttons,etc). given the chance ill be buying this same phone (A9) again, but id probably get the A9 pro for more battery juice :)

  • Yes, the Hong Kong version has Google Play Store and Services. I have this version and Play Store works well, but sometimes it crashes. A very good phone overall :)

  • what about the screen on time with daily usage of this mobile (mention the brightness level used in your phone and how many days can use it with single charge and also mention wheather you are always 3g online). an a9 pro user said that he got 7 to 8 hour screen on time with low brightness and he was always in 3g online. if you post the screen shot of battery usage, that will be very helpful. thankyou.

  • The samsung a9 is a pretty good phone. Battery lasts for a day because im a heavy user, performance is amazing and so is the build quality. The screen is still very decent with its fhd but the phone overheats when used for heavy gaming. Overall it is a bang for the buck.

  • Between Note 5 and A9(2016), I would definitely pick Note 5 all the time. It's a flagship device. A9 is a mid-range and when it cannot stand in the way the Note both in specs and performance.

  • The problem is that once the screen diagonal dimension reaches 7.0 inches, Samsung pigeon holes it as a tab which brings lousy specs, especially in the camera department. I wish Samsung would give us a 7.0 inch device with A9 (2016) specs. 7.0 inches is far, far better for reading the Internet. I have the Galaxy Tab 4, 7.0 and it fits into my jeans' pockets. The problem is the low spec. My humble advice to Samsung is to bring out the A10 with a 7.0 inch screen. I simply cannot stress how much better a 7 inch is than a 6 for the Internet.

  • I am a Samsung user. Owns A3, Note 3, Note 4 Duos, Note 5 Duos, A9 A9000 and Tab S2 8.0. I got my A9 a week ago and intend to test it out during my recent travel trip. I used my Note 3 as hotspot. Here are my findings: Pros: ~ Duo Sim plus SD Card slot ~ 6 inches screen. Easy reading. But, just slightly bigger than my Notes series. I use an iRing. So one hand operation is not an issue. Can use this as a phone stand when I screen movies. ~ Good speaker. ~ Battery life. Cons: ~ Screen lag. Quite obvious. Could be because of the larger screen or the 128GB SD Card. I am not sure. Sometimes, the respond can take a second after you touched and select something on the screen. Try gaming with it.... No good. ~ Connectivities to Wi-Fi is not that good. As I am using the Tab S2, side by side, the Tab connected to the hotel wifi without any problem. The A9 struggled a few attempts to get online. Also, the Wi-Fi reception meter shows only 1 bar on the A9 but my Tab has 3. ~ No light indicator. I will have to keep checking for incoming messages. The above are my findings compared with the rest of the Samsung devices I have. Conclusion : It is good to be used as secondary device for reading, movies and as a hotspot. This is what I am going to do with it.

  • This is our device - we power users! I would take this over the S6 or any other small flagship phone any day-take that to the bank! 6' inch, 4000mAh, Micro-SD slot is just right! We sometimes are to engraved in the specs sheet that we forget to appreciate what's good enough. Not everybody needs Quad HD displays with crappy battery life while 1080P Full HD is more than enough and obsessing over no. of cores does not mean you'll ever need to use all of them even in the most graphic intensive gaming today is misinformed. Bluffing over one little missing feature like LED notification (while you got always on display) makes you look shitty AF. Now back to the Galaxy A9......this phone takes me off the seat because for once Samsung has got it right practically in every angle that matters...recognizing a market for heavy power users and correcting much of the mistakes on HTC One Max&Xperia Z Ultra..oh n' galaxy Mega* Having used the Huawei Mate 7 3GB/32GB&impressed by the spectacular battery life and built quality, I could think of a better replacement back to the Samsung arena. The newer Snapdragon 625 SoC is no slouch&looks really promising. The A9 is not for everybody...it's for grinders..power users like me who can't stand less than 6'' inch for heavy web&media consumption but still need premium device without breaking a sweat of overpriced flagships....!!!

  • I checked the Asus ZE601KL, and it doesn't have "almost" the same specs of the A9. First, the SD652 in the A9 is way more powerful than the SD616 in the ZE601KL, and the Adreno 510 (SD652) is three times faster than the Adreno 405 (SD616). Second, you'll get way better battery life with the A9. All other specs are more or less the same, but the A9 is better in key specs. But, as I always said, it's up to the customers to decide if a device is overpriced or not. I just gave information. ;)

  • Sounds great on paper but it's waaaay to expensive. For example there is ASUS' ZE601KL (6 inch zenfone 2 laser) that has almost the same specs but it's MORE THAN TWICE as cheaper. I used two Samsung phones just because of the branding thinking that other brands are no match.... I was soooo wrong. Now I use ASUS phone and I'm really really satisfied.

  • For your information, SD652 has roughly the same single core score than the Exynos 7420, though it's a bit slower in multicore. And the Adreno 510, althought has less raw power than the Mali T760-MP8, in real world, both have the same performance, due to the Galaxy A9 1080p display and the Galaxy S6 QHD one. And I always said that 1080p is more than enough for phones. Of course, you'll have longer battery life with the A9 than the S6. On the other hand, Galaxy S6 has better camera and has more sensors. But A9 has a MicroSD card slot, which the S6 hasn't. So, I'd say the Galaxy A9 is just a little bit overpriced in comparison with the S6, not way overpriced as you say.

  • well it depends: in terms of speed the xperia c is the the winner, but the a9 is no slouch camera id say a tie? yes the front facing for c ultra is 13 mp vs 8 mp of the a9, but the a9 is both 1.9 aperture which means its better for low light. battery the a9 is the clear winner, not only having 1000 mah more, but its using amoled which is more power efficient, a9 is also dual sim so many a plus for ya? but you can buy the c ultra dual sim version anyways 32 for the a9 vs 16 for the cultra for built in memory fingerprint scanner for a9 if that's a plus.. so yeah.. if I where to choose id go with the a9.. dual sim.. longer battery life and me personally better camera as well.. but if you can get the c ultra cheaper then get that..

You can answer or reject calls with just a single tap on the screen. No need to swipe anymore! Just turn on the Single tap mode in Accessibility there.

  • Yes, two sims + memory can be inserted all together. The slot on the right is for one sim + one sd card and another slot on the top is for 2nd sim.

  • Hi Hitesh. Actually I believe it can last by 7-8 (maximum) hours screen on with auto brightness 50%. I have tested it for full battery charge yet because sometimes I need to connect it to my notebook or need to charge before I go out. But as said, based on the usage I noted, it's about 7-8 (max) screen on.

  • Unlike A Series 2016 which include the new A3-6, A5-6 and A7-6 available in the market for a decent price here in Dubai. I doubt A9 will be available anytime soon. Has A9 the Six inch phablet Phone is manufactured exclusively only for the Chinese market only has people's in China like to use mostly big phones like for example huawei Mate 7 a blockbuster phablet phone from a Chinese manufacturer and this Samsung A9 is direct competition to the new Huawei Mate 8 in Chinese market. So don't aspect the Samsung A9 to get available soon anywhere else beside China anytime soon. May be in few months after millions more A9 phones will be manufactured then only Samsung may make it available for some other markets like Eastern Europe where Samsung still rules or in some other parts of Asia only.

  • I was surprised with the camera quality. It's really fast, and the photos are really nice. I'm not that crazy about phone cameras, I prefer the actual camera for photos but they are probably as good as they get on phones. I've never seen S6's photos though. As for battery; it's ok. If I play games a couple of hours a day, surf the net and son, there's only around 15%. So you will probably have to charge it every night. On the other hand, it has a huge 6 inch screen and I always use 100% brighteness. If you decerease it or put it on auto it could probably last longer, since the phone says that the screen is draining around 40% of my battery, but I really like to use it to it's full capacity.

  • I'm currently in China, and I bought it on January 18th. It is AMAZING. I was actually going to get OnePlus 2, but the only store that had it was all out, and I got really pissed (because of the stupid invite system). Walked around a bit, and I came across this baby. Oh, my, was I happy that I haven't bought the OP2. It's so quick and snappy, even with a VPN on. The only problem is, there's still no root for it, and I can't install Google services, but I hope they will come after the worldwide release. And, also, the build is great, because it's made of metal and glass, and it weighs around 200 grams, which I really like. Feels like a gadget, rather than a toy. It cost me roughly $480 (3100 RMB). I more than recommend this phone. Just go ahead and buy it. You won't regret it.

  • Finally, good job Samsung! You have learned a lot from Huawei: 1. The S6 and Note 5's 1440x2560 resolutions are plain OVERKILL for their 5.1" and 5.7" displays. It only wastes battery and lowers the overall processor performance. I can't see distinct pixels in my 6.0" mate 7 (1080p resolution) even 4 inches away from my eyes (I'm very nearsighted). Those who claim to see 'pixelation' from the lower resolution display of Mate 7 (1080p) vs. other 4K phones do so because of the 'PLACEBO' effect. 4K only matters if you are into virtual reality using some VR goggles close to your phone's display--- good luck on your dizzying VR experience then. 2. 4000 mAh battery. Now that's a good choice Samsung! 4000 mAh should be the minimum standard for any smartphone nowadays. Games and browsing will drain 2000 - 3000+ mAh batteries in less than 4 hours even starting at 100%. What's the point of having the S6 or Note 5's gorgeous 4K amoled display and powerful gaming prowess if the phone is dead before lunch time? And no, don't tell me to always bring the 'fast' charger and/or powerbank everyday. That's just too many things to carry and one that becomes a burden.   • Samsung is moving in the right direction this year. Every phone should come in different sizes. Some people like 5.0 display and some like 6.0-7.0 display which gives you less headache while viewing and reading the web and makes the whole browsing faster. Also keep in mind that despite segnificant improvement with android stuttering , some website still have slight stutter in every android phone (including the ones with pure Google interface and the ones with the newest samsung interface ). In phones with a display size 6.0 and up, the stutter doesn't feel so annoying as on a phone with a smaller display.

  • Compare to Huawei Ascend Mate 7: the A9 is too long, similar width, but too heavy. A9 is 161.7 mm long vs 157 for the Mate 7, the A9 weighs 200 grams vs Mate 7 at 185 grams. For me, anything over 185 grams is too heavy. When you go to a 6 inch display, it is just manageable if the body is compact in size and weight, not an easy thing to achieve with a large battery. As far as I know, the Mate 7 is the most compact 6 incher around. The Mate 8 has the same dimensions. The A9 looks like it has a mid-range processor but a lower price.
