  • Hi everyone. For all of you who had problems with charging: do not replace your battery, or USB cable, they are OK. The charging problem comes after the official update (4.4.2), if you will downgrade it back to 4.0 or 4.1 it works fine (or use any custom builds from www) Tested it and that is the fault: the official update 4.4.2!

  • Most likely charger is fine its just charging cable faulty. I had the same problem on my 8010 tablet. it was taking forever to charge.

  • I'd recommend you upgrade to KitKat on N8010,8013,P600 models first; there is an official sumsung firmware you can get (use the EUR region if in North America or any european language; they all come with English as far as I know); otherwise pick a specific language region, you should still have english and be able to switch to it 1. go to this site to download two things: 2. create a free account (its a safe place and there images are stable - some of the other sites I tested have long wait times or are suspicious) 3. Download the firmware image, and Odin3 for a windows pc - both can be found there 4. **** uninstall Kies3 if you have it; but you can also use it upgrade - bit more tricker and less stable than Odin; needs more tech knowedge **** 5. Run Odin and APM box load the image you downloaded (unzip it first); instructions are on the same site as well 6. Reboot with debug mode enabled and re-image with KitKat image I downloaded 4.1.2 for NorthAmerica (original image as under About My device look for VERSION after the N8010 i.e. JXXXXX.N8010XXUCMH2 is Jelly Bean 4.1.2 for Canada for example); then applied the KitKat version. Guess next step if to figure out how to upgrade to lillipop - I've been told Samsung is not planning to release an update for lollipop. I have actually tested whether it can host lollipop with some diagnostics software off samsung site, and IT CAN; one option I have seen used is download lollipop 5.0 for P600 (firmware is very close and almost identical) which is available for lollipop - I'd recommend you do KitKat first > phased upgrade to limit HW compatibility issues with a big bang approach. enjoy

  • Hey guys, I used to have the same problem with kies. Tried it toady and it worked! when you connect your 10.1 make sure that usb debugging mode is selected (in settings) and that the 10.1 drivers are installed on the computer (check devices and printers). that should give you the update over kies...

And it seems to run very slow, although my device is already running a bit slow b4 upgrading (no visible background apps, the system just respond very slowly. e.g. it takes 30 sec to open device "setting" interface). Any suggestions? BTW, successful upgrading to Kitkat deletes no user apps/user data. it is not formatting.

  • i successfully entered the procedure of upgrading to Kitkat with Kies. fully automated. when connected with PC, Kies install the driver for me, and connect to the device. after that, Kies prompted and offered the upgrading option. reason for my upgrade is that i accidentally rooted my device, and i found not better option to "unroot" it. my device is now still running the upgrade installation automatically.

  • It's possible to upgrade to stock Jelly Bean via Odin and you dont even have to be rooted, but I havnt tried it yet, since there's a small chance of bricking your device i think I'd rather wait for the official update.

  • My 13" laptop has the same resolution as this tablet but due to the larger area a lower pixel density of 113 compared to the 149 of my note 10.1 Still viewed at the same distance all text on the laptop is perfectly smooth (even up close) whereas on this tablet text is all pixelated and jagged.. Why is so? Shouldn't the higher pixel density of the tablet account for better definition? Is there any downloadable font that could help smoothing things out? This is a great tablet except for this, even from afar all text is jagged and not sharp.

  • you can't solder out the chip. But You can disable the gps. But if you own a cell phone, as long as it has a SlM Card in it (meaning you can use it for Calls) you are trackable - GPS is not needed for tracking. If your cell phone has connection, your provider can measure the distance (signal strength) from 2 or more antennas - this gives your position a bit more rough than GPS. So, if you are this paranoid, better don't use a cell phone at all ;-)

  • Bought this yesterday in Croatia and I'm loving it. It's very smooth and everything works great. The material feels quite pleasant to the touch and the build quality seems quite nice (I have the white one). I was kind of worried about the screen having only 149 PPI, but I must say I'm quite pleased with it (although the viewing angles kinda suck). The only proble with this, the WiFi version is internet connectivity on the go. While my phone does support connection sharing over bluetooth (I share it all the time with my laptop), I still haven't been able to get it to work with the Note 10.1. The phone also supports mobile hotspot but that just destroys the battery. Also if you don't have an access to a WiFi router (at home/work/wherever) and plan to share your laptop's ethernet connection via WiFi (try googling Conectify, MiFi or VirtualRouter), you should make sure your WLAN card supports Access Point (AP) mode since the Galaxy Note 10.1 won't connect to an Ad-Hoc network

  • Moderat use? I think u r forgetting about Cell Broadcasting and the dependency of how close you have the gsm antennas i the area u r living in. If you are in an countryarea with less recivers then it won't matter what kind of battery you have. It won't last a day.
