its a hardware problem. (RAM) same as mine I brought an original battery in a samsung store the sick still there. hard reset can help at first but if you load heavy apps restart again and again. I suggest buy a new one.

This is a great phone. It has a real home button (unlike newer phones where they have removed them). You can still use SideSync, it still has a 3.5mm jack, heart sensor..... plus I can swapthe battery, when it is running low. The spare battery, is very slim compared to a power bank. Plus no dangling powerbanks, whilst it is charging. I was on a flight, when the air hostess told someone they can't use their bluetooth headset, as they need to put their phone in flight mode. The Note 4 has a 3.5mm jack. The edges are flat, so I can put on a proper case, such as the Otterbox.

I have a second note 4 that I had for over a year now. When I had reboot problems it was more then likely related to battery starting to lose capacity over time. I have since bought aftermarket batteries (for 16 dollars Canadian) from Amazon so going to be using it for another year or two. Great camera and my apps all function. No fancy android upgrades other then the normal. Yet If I do have app issues, I consulate my local phone gurus for a operation system upgrade. Generally it is still a great phone, I use an otter box cover and that has saved it from drops

This is my second Note 4 phone in 5 years that succumbed to thermal re-boot. Phone gets warm reboots, repeat this cycle until it gets stuck in Android System Downloading screen (forever). Only *temporary* solution is to place phone on cold pack while operating. And, who really wants to do that? Freakin Samsung.

i can only get 4 hours10 minutes with medium usage on galaxy note 4,and only 2hours++ for non stop gaming.Its quite good for a 5 years old smartphone . gaming pubg and ppsspp is just a little disappointing besause i get the exynos version,can't run pubg on high setting with shadow effect , note 3 is better running pubg with snapdragon 800. Now i still confused to choose between s6 edge , s6, s6 edge plus,s7, s7 edge ,note 5 for gaming with amoled screen.

This Note 4 launched at 350 EUR. The newer Notes are significantly more expensive at around 1000 EUR, they have removed heart sensor in newer models. In Note 10, they removed 3.5mm jack. I can still swap out the battery in 20seconds in my Note 4. It has a real 'home' button. The glass is flat. Curved screen serve no purpose, other then being easily damaged. Still a good buy, if you can find one in good condition.

I am also using Samsung Note 4 SM-910G (as a secondary phone - jio SIM). This phone nearly hangs when updating the apps even if there is 11 GB free space in the phone memory. Many apps are running again even after force stopping them (android 6.0.1). This does not occur in android 8.0 and above. I am keeping it only because it gives good bass effect when using Sony MDR-XB70AP (now it is sold as MDR-XB75AP for 3300 Indian rupees at amazon India) earphones. Even Samsung A9 pro 2016 gives hood bass effect when using the above ear phones. In addition to this, I am using the monster Samsung A9 pro 2016 as a primary phone and have bought A70 for my Mother. These phones do not hang when updating the apps.

Just because Jote 4 has a removable battery, it is better than all the models. The models that I have mentioned are surely better than Note 4 as for now. Note 4 is really slow when updating the apps. I really get frustrated. Still I keep Note 4 for high bass effect when listened through Sony MDR-XB70AP (now 75AP) ear phones.

It is nearly 5 years old, it is a very good mobile, it has very good features with very good hardware, last year I bought galaxy note 4 N910T unlocked for £170 brand new, and I bought amor powerful battery ith 5800 mah for it, I love it. I keep using until stops working, I love it too much, it has everthing I want, but just has no radio, I do not need radio, if I want I download radio app in play store, that is it.

So after giving up on my super slow Blackberry Priv, I decided on going back to the best phone ever, the Note 4, and wow what a difference! I have the Verizon N910V version running 6.0.1 and was wondering if rooting can be done as ive seen it here but its not for 6.1. I have found posts about it, but most of them are running Android 5 (tried some and they didn't work) or files are no longer available for download. Could I get any help with that? Nougat update is an option if available but I would just like to have a Stock Android version even is its 6.1, I really dislike the amount of useless apps. Thanks for the help!!

I'm using Samsung note 4 exynos version. All i can say is that i really love it. I just bought a battery pack for it so i can charge the spare battery separately. I use it for taking nice pictures and video, also in gaming.

Yes but the faults occurring are hardware related. Note 4's not that told & should still be stable & not hammer the battery. Icons should not move around etc Speaker being crap & microphone is hardware related. Plus poor signal sensitivity is no excuse. My S3 is better than the Note 4 for reception.

Still rockin' my Note 4. Got the n910w8 variant which supports LTE on both AT&T and T-Mobile. Bought it second hand for cheap, rooted with TWRP and running Resurrection Remix 8.1 ROM. Phone is still plenty fast, and I am more than happy with the performance. Plus it has removable battery, 3.5mm headphone jack and SD card support. Go ahead and spend your rent on a new shiny flagship if you want to (if it makes you happy, go for it). As for me, I like my money in my bank account. Just sayin'.

Problems experienced with Galaxy Samsung Note 4:- If I close phone screen before phone clears from display, the phone redials number I just called. Icons spontaneously move around from one screen to another or disappear to apps pages. Runs hot. So flattens battery too fast. Even after closing apps. Drains super large battery in less than a day. Slow to pick up network after it's lost signal when comes it back into signal. Notifications spontaneously turn off in settings Home screen spontaneously changes to a different one of the 5 screens Spontaneously dials numbers in phone book Spontaneously creates random characters to text random people in contacts Kies doesn't work with Mac Sound quality poor. People I call often miss words I say. Speaker phone/microphone very poor sound quality OK so could be a virus or a bad phone? Reformatting doesn't solve And guess what. Phone got broken. So got another Note 4 on insurance and exactly the same things are starting to happen. My conclusion = the Galaxy Note 4 has great camera & screen, but is appallingly bad in every other way. Never going to buy another Samsung product in my life

Is it even fair to compare a 5 year old phone to a 2019 phone? Specwise a 2014 Flagship Phone from 5 years ago is mostlikely outclassed nowadays by a midranger/low-mid latest SoC with faster Clockspeed/RAM/UFS Storage.

Not suprising considering its a 2014 flagship phone and major manufacturers only does 2 years of OS Upgrades and upto 3 years Security Updates. Atleast it still seems to be getting Kernel Bugfixes/Updates, else just go full custom firmware if you want the latest Android Version/Security though only common for the Snapdragon Version and very rare for the Exynos. Also if you are into IR BLASTER, Exynos is Buggy or does not work compared to the Snapdragon one.

In my Samsung Note 4 SM-910G phone, there is 11 GB free space out of 25 GB (+ 7 GB reserved for OS). Still all app update installation takes more time compared to my Samsung A9 pro. Really frustrated on my Note 4.

If it's like new condition i would say a good deal, i owned the phone for 2 years, overall a great device to use even now, the only downside is the clunky fingerprint reader, way slow and a hassle to use it.

Camera is awesome and can record 4K videos perfectly. but if you are looking for latest version of Android then forget it. Great phone. Had 3 of them. The OEM battery is pure junk. Even new, it's 4-5 years old and will not last more than a few hours. Just save the frustration and immediately remove it. Buy an extended aftermarket battery such as ZeroLemon 10,000 or a smaller one. I love ZeroLemon and gets great runtime with it and the phone is thicker and easier to hold. Flat screen, 16:9 ratio, QHD, very nice vibrant colors.

Just have it from yesterday and already installed RR os custom ROM,all good and running smooth ,only small problem the battery it is in the half capacity from 3220 to only 1500 m ah , 20 euros its not a big deal for a new one, it was the best phone and I keep it for a lot time.!!

Still using my note 4 and I have no problems and plan to keep it for another year or two maybe more. I am now using the "PowerBear Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Extended Battery [7500 mAh] & Back Cover & Protective Case (Up to 2.3X Extra Battery Power)" , sorry for copying form a sellers website. But I been using it for over 6 months with no problems and double the battery life. I glued some of my old otte rbox rubber to the outside of the Powerbear case and the phone is almost bullet proof now. I dropped the phone 10 feet by accident down a set of concrete stairs . Stills works fine. But I maybe looking replacing it with the Sonim XP8 or next years version of it because of the replaceable battery in it as well. I think they have to bring the headphone jack back if possible and they must make the camera better quality, like my note 4. If they do those improvements to the XP8 and keep the ability to remove the battery. It will be my next phone. Not quite there yet quality wise but its probably what I am going to buy if this note 4 dies

Vivo and Oppo phones are overpriced here in the Philippines boasting them as camera phones or gaming phones yet their build quality can't even top high-end phones like Samsung Note4 which is ahead of its technology when it was released last September 2014. Upto you, Exynos tho is more powerful the the Snapdragon Note 4 but Snapdragon is more OpenSource for Custom Firmwares compared to samsungs exynos. If you're into Custom Firmwares then better get the Snapdragon one.

I repeat it is a BUGGY EARLY 64-bit EXYNOS SoC of Samsung and they didnt even release an OFFICIAL 64 bit KERNEL/FIRMWARE for it = DEAD. And no!!! Google again announce that it is upto the DEVELOPERS whether they make only 64-bit or still support 32-bit Apps/Firmwares. Considering having ANDROID GO PIE BUDGET phones with a measely 8-16gb storage and 1-2gb ram, it'll make them crawl if they put 64-bit on them.

Snapdragon have more custom firmware and is more supported by xda developer than Exynos(dead) & 64 bit is negligible since its pretty much limited/buggy SoC being the early 64 bit by Samsung.

Using for 4 years, worked perfect, until I had issue with the charging connector, but you can expect that to wear out after so many charge plug in/outs, tried to replace whole module and due to inexperience damaged the screen. Battery lasted for the day, not great, but this is what you get using android. Had to replace it after 2 years of usage. Screen is great, response good. Due to increase in app resource demand you might notice it getting bit slower within time, but I consider it acceptable considering i being 4 years old. Haven't had any big issues. Had screen frozen few times, but overall nothing major, that couldn't be fixed in minutes. Would buy another predecessor with same build quality.

Yes, it is replaceable battery, the last note series to replace battery, nte 4 n910t it is for t mobile, but unlocked, you will have no problem to use with any network worldwide, but if you buy note 4 n910f global version is better, maybe £20 more expensive.but buy from a seller which has one year guarantee for the mobile, do not buy with three months guarantee, good luck.

For about 4 years my note4 worked perfectly. Then serious problems started like fast battery drain, staying in start-up loop, uncontrolable on/off behaviour. I tried to solve it with a new battery, factory reset and other internet advices, unfortunately without success. A local mobile phone repair service told me that they had several customers with exactly the same problem. They said that the motherboard was probably damaged and that it would cost more to repair it than to by a new device. Sad situation, because I like the device a lot and would prefer to continue to use it, if possible.

Hello. I'll answer your major questions as best I can. 1) Yes, you are correct about TouchWiz, at least regarding the major ROMs currently available. I was never a big pen user anyway, and I personally never liked TouchWiz, so no big loss for me, but you need to know this going in. Since all android phones are capacitive anyway, your touch pen will still work. I just used my S-pen with my phone, and thus far no problems - but again, I wouldn't say that the pen is "officially" supported (that is, developed specifically with that pen in mind). 2) I am not running the latest version of Android. I prefer to run the STABLEST late version - and right now, Android Pie ain't it. Lineage OS and Resurrection Remix (which is actually based on Lineage OS) are both focused on Android 8.1, and of the two RR is the more stable. So nah, not gonna jump to Pie until one of these two reputable ROMs supports it, and I would suggest you do the same. 3) I touched on this in the first point, but my S-pen does still seem to work. You just aren't going to get the functionality that is specific to TouchWiz. But the gains in performance and the fact that my phone now truly works like an Android phone and is no longer an overbloated Samsung product (that btw is no longer officially updated or supported by the manufacturer) is totally worth it. Yes, I am loving my Note 4 with Resurrection Remix; it's smooth like butter. The Note 4 is still a fine piece of phone engineering, with excellent internals and build quality and I'd put it up against many new phones now. I highly recommend trying out RR if you feel comfortable doing that (backup your phone first of course, read carefully, etc.). Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

FYI, this phone can be upgraded far beyond Android 6. Just dug an old Note 4 (N910W8 variant) I had stored away. Rooted it and flashed with the latest Resurrection Remix ROM, and installed the Viper4Android sound kit. Runs AMAZINGLY on Android 8.1. Further proof that the phone manufacturers are lying to us all about obsolescence (and why they further handicapped phones by eliminating removable battery and the 3.5 mm headphone jack).

Stock firmware is still your best bet. My note 4 still works like new. However, I almost gave up on it about 3 months ago after some serious restart loop and battery drain. I bought a new battery and I am totally surprised that all the issues have gone. This beast can still work for another 2 years. Lol

This is a fantastic and reliable phone.This phone has lasted 4 years for me. Only problem after those 4 years was with the battery since batteries typically degrade over time. Got a replacement battery for $14 and it's working great like new again. Some awesome features that this phone has to offer include the headphone jack, the SD card slot expandable storage, the easily removable battery, the fingerprint reader, the 1440p AMOLED display, and the FM radio. I think certain models of the CPU do in fact support FM radio, I was able to get it to work on my Note 4 anyway.

Recommend putting one of the Note 7 port ROMs available in places like XDA on there - I'm now getting smoother performance, longer battery life, generally better experience. Really easy to do too as most Note 4s have an unlocked bootloader anyway.

Battery life is good. Just like any phone being used, ALL batteries will need to be replaced. Gaming all day? Videos all day? Social Media obsessed? Buy a new battery every year. You'll need to. Batteries have a finite life of charges. Android, iPhone, WP. Doesn't matter. All batteries will need to be replaced every 1-2 years. So much cheaper on your money to replace a battery, NOT a phone.

The second way is to power off your phone. Once tour phone is off, press the power button, volume up and the home button all at the same time and hold them. You will see tiny blue letters.on the top left of.your screen. Now let go off all 3 buttons. After the android.falls down and croaks, you.will see a scrren with options appear. Use your volume down and select the one that has 'reset' in its wording. Now press rhe power button, use the volume to select yes, power button to complete action. When the selection screen comes back, volume button to select restart phone.

This phone is still a solid device in July 2018. Great pictures. Screen display is awesome for watching videos, internet TV, reading text and documents for work. Love being able to add and swap SD cards so that I can have movies on the go for my family car rides and not constantly have to use data. Fast charge if you need it. I can buy and replace the battery myself instead of paying more to have the battery replaced at a phone shop. S-Pen I don't use that much. Being able to use this phone as a remote for my tvs, stereo, DVD player, roku. Games work great on this phone. I have 2 Note 4 phones. My daughter has the other one and plays games and YouTube alot and rarely complains about any lag. The only time I see a lag is when to many apps are opened. Just like your laptop or PC, the more you have opened, the slower they typically will be. Really you don't need to buy a brand new phone. They're cool to have but if you buy a new budget/cheap phone, you'll be irritated with the slow speed, no storage space, average or poor camera. If you buy a new midrange phone, you may get the newest software but might not be able to add an SD card for more storage. Camera is also a hit or miss, some good, some not. High end new phone? If you can comfortably afford one without having to think or stress over it, then go for it. If you're like the average consumer, $600-$1,000+ for a phone is hard. Phones are at a point like laptops and PCs. You don't need to replace them every year or 2 anymore. Get a decent Android or iPhone and make it last 4 years or more. Yes, I know there are those that will say "but what about the software updates?" or "but I'm on software version blah blah". Unless you're watching porn, downloading illegal stuff or clicking everything that pops up on your browser, then you will be fine. I use both Android phones and iPhones. IPhone 3g, 3GS, 4s, 5s, 6s. The 6s was a business phone. Galaxy Note; the original, Note 4. Motorola Droid, Droid Maxx. Windows phones. Blackberry, long ago.

I had this phone for 2+ years. Bought it in November 2014 and had it until about August 2017. It was great. High quality. Fantastic camera quality, okay speaker. A headphone jack. Great stylus features. Gaming experience was also good. Great screen and good battery life for the first two years. Going into the third year I started having battery problems. My phone would charge full. Then get to 50% on minimal use and basically go out. I got a "new" battery that was somewhat better. Eventually my phone also couldn't handle its fingerprint scanner anymore. This was also well into the third year. It would freeze on me so I deactivated the scanner and it was fine. The only real problem I had in the end was that it wasn't waterproof, which is what made me lose it or it might have made it 3 full years. I spilled a drink on it and didn't realize it had made it past the case. So it died. I now have the J1 Mini Prime which was hella affordable and is an okay phone. But the limited internal storage is really killing me. And given my student lifestyle I need way more storage space. Not to mention a better camera and a way bigger screen. The latter so I can store textbooks and documents on my phone and read them on the go. I'm now eyeing the A8. I love the Orchid Grey color and the specs are great. Best of all, it's waterproof so no more losing my phone to a splash of liquid. And...it's budget friendly. Right on the edge of it. Still have to save up for it though. I love the Note 8 but it's expensive. I'll miss the stylus since I got a lot of use out of it but it is what it is.

Only if you use a static background for many hours, i always recommend to use auto screen timeout on 30 sec or 1 min tops. And don't stay too long on the same image, with minimal care an Amoled panel can avoid the screen burn.

Hi Ay-cash. I'm from Malaysia and here we use model N910C which is the best model among all Note 4 models from around the world. It's chip is Exynos 5433 which is faster than Snapdragon in test. Yes this model has 3G but mine has been upgraded to 4G. It's Android 4.4.4 (KitKat) and has been upgraded to 6.0.1 (Marshmallow). The camera is still one of the best among note series and even among many high end smartphones in the market. I'm using this phone since 4 years ago and it is still going strong. That's why many users are still unwilling to give up on this model. Long live N910C! P/s: learn to set it in beast mode (from youtube experts) for much faster performance.

Hello I am using note 4 past 2.5 years no problem's at all but past few days I facing a problem my phone autorestarting and stops at galaxy note 4 logo .when connect to charger It goes well even after unplug the charger normal apps like call.music video running well but if I am running camera games or Internet it again restart and stuck at galaxy note 4 logo I do not update software since security patch level July 2017 marshmallow.and every 6 month I factory reset to my phone then why the problem is happening customer care center recommends to update software but Is it goes well

I am using the SM-N910C version from our local telco here in the Philippines. The rest of the world enjoyed a Marshmallow update while our local telco (baseband is specific to their network) had us stuck in Lollipop because they never pushed an update. I have searched for available Marshmallow ROMs but it really does show that my baseband is stuck on Lollipop, the local Samsung service center also told me that my telco really did not update it to Marshmallow. I have another newer phone that I use, but I just love my Note 4. The telco name is Globe and the aseband is N910CXXU1C0J5. Do you know if there is another baseband that can be used?

Yes. I charge my Samsung A9 pro using normal charging cable at 200 mA to 800 mA (varies) for 8 to 12 hours rather than charging at 1500 mA for 3 to 4 hours. I also charge my Samsung Note 4 at 900 mA rather than charging at 1800 mA. Note : All the above procedures indicate notmal charging and not fast charging. Please purchase 'galaxy charging current pro' app and install to see the mA at which your phone is charging.

One of the best phones you can buy at the moment. 16:9 ratio, removable battery and no curved edge. The OEM battery is junk, just replace it with an extended ZeroLemon battery and enjoy 2-day runtime. It also makes the phone thicker and easier to hold. Despite being a bit slow versus newer models, I love this phone. All they need to do upgrade the processor and add more memory but the basic formula is right. Worst case scenario is you need to have the sim tray replaced. Easy fix at a repair shop. Not expensive either. Take it to a cellphone repair store and have them look at it. It could be a simple cleaning of the part. Either way, it's way easier and more cost effective to have it fixed. Great phone.

Hi there, has anyone else experienced this fault.. My Note 4 suddenly feels there is no sim card in it. Keeps saying please insert sim card and this drains the battery. Switching off and on fixes it. But it happens again after a few days specially when the phone is left idle for hours. I hope this isn't a symptom of a major fault. It's well over 2 years old and heavily used but still works smoothly.

I liked the feel and it's easy to hold , display is awesome looks like portrait , smooth as butter never hangs . Camera is good in day light and specially 4K video , but in poor light is below average . Battery is better than average . My particular model had network issues , some times it never use to catch signals or it had poor signal reception as compared to other phones . Looks wise liked the frost white color and stylus .

The battery standby time of Samsung Note 4 is worst of all other models. Really disgusting. But Samsung A9 pro 2016 rocks in battery standby time. Never buy any high end phone that has less than 4 Ampere battery capacity. Some of the good phones are : Samsung On8, Samsung J7 2016, Samsung J7 pro, Samsung A9 pro 2016.

Just bought a Galaxy Note 4 from two weeks ago and after 2 days I detected that the battery never charge to 100% replaced it immediately. and things went fine again. The only thing that concerns me is the latest update of its software which looks more like J series and it's have a lot of crashes. And I read that it's impossible to flash any older version of it. hi ashish, i too own a note 4, even i have the same problem since last 10 days, i have made sure that its not a battery problem, i went to the samsung service center, i got the software reloaded, but they said it still has the same problem, they quoted me 16500 for changing the motherboard, infact the engineer told me that lately they are getting lot of similar problems in note 4, and he advised me not to spend so much money by changing the mother board, i also went to one of the samsung store to check new note 8, i asked him for buy back of my old note 4, he said now a days lot of note 4 are having similar issues as ours, and he said no to buyback. i am and engineer and i am thinking how come there are so many problems arising in the same model in the same time frame, it is only possible if there is some kind of software timer, and samsung knows that if you are hooked on the note series once you will never buy any other phone and i feel if these devices continue to work for very long time then samsung loses business and there new new models will not be sold in big numbers, and lately even apple iphones were slowing down and people have sued apple over this issue and they have assured that this type of problems will not arise in new phones. infact now i am wondering, should i buy a new note 8 or iphone x, and if i buy note 8 i am sure it will work fantastically for 3 years and after that it will have the same problem as i have today on my note 4, and if i buy iphone x i will miss the stylus, i hope samsung guys read this and improve i hope apple guys are reading this and they come out with iphone with a stylus, thanks i am from mumbai

Note 4 spec wise is totally capable of Nugget. I just helped someone buy a cheap phone at Walmart. It has 1.5 g ram, a slow processor and has android 7 Nugget running. It would be nice if Samsung would update but I doubt it will ever happen. Still an awesome phone.

i have the same issue here. when it charge reach 89 it's stuck there. usually i remove the battery and when i turn on the phone, the battery indicator shows 100. so i back up my data, and reset factory.. and now it's normal again. i've changed my battery twice and this time the battery is less than a year. i think the phone is getting older. but still good. i have it for 3 years now.. and i'm going to keep it.

The ones who have the freezing and restarting problem, go check for the new security update which came in Jan 2018. My phone had the same problem and after installing the new update the fone works fine. No need of wakelock app. Check your battery also. Its better to replace a new one from a good brand. Hope this helps...

Motherboard failure is only becaus of dropping the phone frequently. Even My Samsung Note 4 has motherboard problem in June 2017. It was replaced free because my phone was under extended warranty. Now I didnt even drop my phone even once till now. So it is working fine. Note that gorilla glass just protects the display. Not the motherboard. Whenever you drop, the shock waves will transfer from bottom to top part of the phone (at the direction in which it is falling) via the motherboard because it is the only part which is at the centre part of all mobile phones sandwiched between the display and the back cover. Hope you may have understood now.

My Note 4 N910G Indian Version has stopped getting any OS Update since 2016 April, which was a 1334MB Update, that got me Marshmallow 6.0.1. Later on, I got only Security patch updates until August 2017. After that, there were no Security patch updates. Recently I got an update notification on 5th January 2018. It was 330 MB in size. I eagerly installed it. Nothing Changed, the Android Version is 6.0.1, Android Security Patch Level has the same 01 Aug 2017. Kernel Version has only changed to Dec 15 2017. No noticeable changes. After this update, I have been seeing these changes in the phone: 1. Phone Switches Off and On and Off Alternatively when the Battery Level falls below 25%. 2. The Status LED Alternates from Cyan to Blue and Suddenly the Screen Flashes along with Touchpad LED lights and Flash LED near the Camera. 3. If Volume Up/Down is pressed momentarily, it automatically increases the volume to maximum/decreases the volume to minimum, instead of decrements/increments with every push of the button. 4. The Fingerprint scanner scans the finger correctly but sometimes it does not even respond.

It's definitely a great device. Screen is QHD just like flagships today, good camera, solid battery back up and also runs very smooth on lollipop as well as MM. Yes you may not get software support from Samsung coz this is a device from 2014. No android N. But otherwise it does everything fine. You can replace the battery your self. It also looks good. Safe in everyway as long as install the update shared by Samsung. I have used it for long 3 years and now switched to another one only because of not getting latest android OS 7. It is still way better than the present day standard configuration of 3/4 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM. The only issue is the old interface and designing due to Android OS version 5/6. You can really rely on this at least for the next 2 years.

Smartphones nowadays a mature product, however no tech site is interested in reviewing products regarding resilience or their vigency after +3 years from the initial release. If today some would be interested in a survey of smartphones that old, GN4 would be clearly in the short list showing good aging scores and still features somehow comparable with recent releases. Everyday I fail to find a reason to renew mine ; it has been so well crafted that new UIs, shimmers, shines cannot compete with this one. At the end, it is just a phone that works fine, up to date in daylight pictures (regardless pics weight), screen better than many, etc.

My galaxy note 4 is nearly 2yrs old and the mother board seems to have failed/crashed. I have tried to get it repaired at 2 places including at a samsung shop but they have failed to repair the same. The phone keeps restarting when i try to swicth it on. For such a high end phone it is not acceptable that even samsung is uanble to provide a solution. Pathetic product

NO "current phone" will have the same features the Note 4 has except the Note 8 but I suspect even the Note 8 -if you can afford to waste your money on it- doesn't have the same features the N4 has, like removable battery. Don't listen to what people say about this phone being "old" or whatever. If the phone you're interested in looks good and functions good, it probably is a good device to buy. Some people say the phone has a problem with the motherboard failing but there are millions of people out there who still have their Note 4s and they're functioning like new. I just bought one myself and it looks like brand new and it's functioning like new too. If it fails, I'll probably just buy a motherboard and try to install it myself. The other thing, all phones can have problems. I don't think there was a phone I was interested in that didn't have some people complaining about it. I almost bought an LG G4 but a lot of people were saying it's a piece of garbage that will fail. Then, I wanted to buy a Moto G4 Plus, and same thing, people on the internet said it's a horrible phone and has this problem and that problem. And before these two phones I was interested in the Note 4, but after reading the reviews I was scared and changed my mind. But then, I said screw it. People will always find something wrong with whatever and some people do have bad pieces sometimes but I was going to take my chances and just bought a Note 4 and so far so good.

That's smart thinking. A phone really is JUST A PHONE. Most people are stupid. They go crazy when a new phone comes out and they want it soooo bad like their lives depend on it. Note 4 is all the phone you could really ever need, and then some. Look at the Note 5, or 7. How much "improved" were they compared to the Note 4 ? The reality is, they were a step backward, not forward. Hell, the Note 7 was a complete failure. And I guarantee you the Note 8 isn't doesn't have much improvement over the Note 4. The stuff it might have isn't something you really need. Again, I think the Note 4 is one hell of a phone and as long as it works, you probably won't need a new phone for many many years, that's if you think logically and practically, unless maybe a new phone comes out that can cook for you or something then maybe you can think about getting that phone. I know I will keep my beautiful white N4 for as long as it is working. Even if it dies (the motherboard), I'll try to change it and just keep going.

you can try to install wakelock detector from play store, it may help you. Another option is flash with the pit file and repair firmware for your mobile with Odin, nand erase all. Do not click on efs tabs. But most probably the mother board is faulty and need to replace

Sounds like your battery needs replacing. It's not uncommon for mobile phones to need a new battery after only a couple of years. Signs of battery age include; Shorter battery life, not charging fully or charging at am inconsistent rate, battery swelling... The note 4 is the worst phone I have ever owned. I am replacing it now finally and am looking forward to taking a hammer to it. Even with a new battery, it never charges past about 75% and it drains really quickly and starts shutting off without warning at times when it gets below 30 or 40%. When you send a text message the phone can lock up for as long as 20 seconds or more. Really makes having a text conversation loads of fun. It constantly butt dials which is a continual source of embarrassment, especially since I use it for work. The screen is not very sensitive, making touch control really difficult at times. Overall I would say it is worse than a piece of garbage. Don't be tempted to get a used one thinking you can have a good phone for cheap. With my experience with this phone and hearing about phones catching fire and exploding in people's pockets, I am staying clear of Samsung phones in the future.

I am not saying that SGN4 is a worst phone. I am just saying that even when I invested INR 45,000.00 it has to last nearly 5-7 years. Moreover, the phone is running quite well without any glitches. Further more, every sensor on this is fine, even when it has got these many "bruises". I know how to maintain my phone dear GN4. No Personal Abuses Please.. Only Con I have noticed is Auto Switch Off at 50%, and that too sometimes only. After a Full Battery Charge, it gives me 18 hours of Non-stop Usage. Which previously was 22 hours. The White Border on the Front with Glass Shield has chipped off and has the Danger of Personal Injury. I bought it with INR 45,000.00, it's OS is outdated. It runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow for the last 1.5 Years. Whereas My Dad's Samsung Galaxy On8, worth INR 12,000.00 got Android Nougat 7.0.1 Update this Diwali. Everytime I hit the System Update, it either says it is been Up to date or it provides with a 300MB Security Patch Update, every month. Went for a Resale of this Unit, they told that I will fetch meagre INR 1200.00; Why On Earth should a person buy such hyped mobiles which do not have a decent resale value? my friend.. obviously you are not taking care of maintaining you phone.. no matter how tough the smartphone it will surely be broken if you did not regularly clean unwanted files or ur not scanning it with anti virus or keep on overheating it... 1) keep the backlight of screen as low as possible.. 2) always stop the apps when not in use 3) turn off notification eccept messeging apps 4) keep battery percentage from 20% to 90% 5) perform unwanted files & cashe cleaning 6) perform antivirus 7) avoid overheating it 8) avoid using 3rd party launchers, messaging apps etc.. it slows down the phone & uses more ram & power in backgroud 9) install defrager app to reaarange memory clogs. 10) avoid carelessly dropping or bumping yoy phone.. if you do not do this then any phone will not last long to you..

Yes it does suppport 250gb micro sd but I suggest ypu buy 128gb Class 10 U3 speed because the now days 256gb are too slow to read and writing yet then your phone will use a lot of battery and time to read those files on the 256gb micro sd card.

Also... these modes require you to download the right t software to the SD card and computer.. some include the OS (operating software) . custom is often the best if you find the right one. go with simplROM v6c .. it's working perfectly with this model. in the xda forums, you'll have instructions. I am gping to share my 3 years experience with this loyal and great device. Finger print reader is not that good and fast as now days, but at least my girlfriend cannot unlock it when I sleeping deeply as it could be with the new phones finger print reader. I had similar problem, battery life was dying faster one single fully 100% charge didn't last me more than half a day using LTE on whatsapp browsing internet emails taking some pictures. Then when it was 28% or less suddenly it turns off. Yes, the Note 4 has been a very good phone for over 2.5 years for me. I changed it's battery original from Samsung store after 2 yrs use. The new battery worked well and now after 4/5 months, it drains so fast and the phone lags a lot. I don't know if it is happening due to new updates. It could be the strategy of Samsung as well to sell new products- because if it works perfectly like before, users like me are not going to change it as it has all features we need. And, it can compete with newer Samsung phones as well. And, for sure it's better than Note 5-6 (Though no Samsung can compete with iPhones on speed/processor/RAM). The problem now with Note 4 is, even for typing you need to wait. If you type fast you can't get all you typed. You need to wait to get 'backspace' button to normal if you had clicked earlier. Opening camera takes very long time, and so on. Another, benefit of having Note is that the s-pen, I have Tab S3 with s-pen and I can use Note4's spen on the tab. So, no need to carry Tab's separate s-pen. Anyway, is there any way to get rid of these problems of Note 4, friends?

Not all apps can be moved to the memory card. I am.usimg Sandisk 128 GB class 10 (45 MB / s) memory card. It works fine without problem in my phone. I always use phone memory for installing apps because in case if I upgrade or format the memory card, then it will be a nightmare. I have installed some apps in memory card in my old Nokia N8 (64 GB class 10 with same speed as above) and they also work fine.

I suggest you root your phone, install custom recovery and try different light ROMs. Samsung phones are so bloated with applications that we never use. My Note 3 had a big issue with battery drain and I was not happy. Now with a custom light ROM the phone go on for 2-3 days with light use and a bit more than 1 day with heavy use. Through the night the battery drops 1-2% only while earlier the charge used to come down about 15%.

My phone had the same problem. Finally motherboard had problem. It is the symptom of motherboard fault at starting stage. This fault occurs if you frequently drop the sevice where the shock gets transferred from top to.bottom layer that affects the motherboard. My phone was under Indian Rs.8300 Samsung extended warranty (till 10th May 2019). So they replaced it for free. After replacing, the display glass got seperated from its case. I asked why. The service person told me that the persons at mobile phone sales shops spray the thinner directly on the device (before sticking the tempered glass) instead of spraying it on a cloth and then wiping. Also avoid pressing your phone hard (keeping it inside a tight pant pocket and sitting on a bus seat). Replace your motherboard soon. Backup your data before giving for service.

Random restarts - I had that issue after installing MM 6.01. MM uses more resources and more power it's what Steve Job calls planned obsolescence. I suggest you get another battery if that's possible. I bought a new battery from Samsung 5 weeks ago. I also read about a third party making Note 4 battery, now whether they're reputable is anybody guess but maybe that's the only alternative you've got. Why the need to reset the phone ... due to virus ... if reset resolved. But there are possible of battery wear off, after daily re-charges which already exceed 500 times recharge for 3 years. Not sure if this is a Samsung thing. My S3 was doing the same thing just before it died a few weeks ago. So make sure you have a recent backup of all your stuff before it doesn't turn on again. It is not the battery. We have 2 other S3 in our family and they all showed the same symptoms before they died. You can try and do a hard reset by holding the power, volume and menu button together. You can find the procedure on the web.

No offence, but if you don't move with the latest OS, you would probably have got stuck with Windows 95 (in analogy) and would miss the other benefits available in the latest OS. It is not about abandoning the existing Note 4, but if you are looking for buying a new device, you should definitely not go for Note 4 and look for other current options, because it simply does not make any sense to buy a 3 year old device with no active support. One important thing to keep in mind is - just because Note 4 is a good device, it does not mean that it has guaranteed support for lifetime.

I have a Note 4 just over a year now and the IR blaster stopped working. I have read most of the information across multiple forums and it seems to be a known issue. I am using Nokia N8 with Aircel Tamilnadu sim for making outgoing calls and using jio SIM in Note 4. I think battery drain is because of jio's presence in 3 bands of spectrum (850, 1800 and 2300 MHz). I won't use jio for making calls during travel. I am also using Nokia 808 pureview for rare calls. I am using it N8, 808 and Note 4 equally for taking pictures when needed. I am not a photographer. Till now no android phone has come up with 38 MP or 41 MP. Thats Nokia. This phone is one of the best produced by Samsung before they decided to move to non-removable batteries....What a mistake. IP68 certification is useless compared to the capability of changing yourself the battery by simply removing the back cover.... When you think that after 1 year, a battery capacity drops by half...... And 3 years after, screens are STILL in the 2K domain..... (S8 for ex) Unless Sammy comes out with a real killer feature on the Note8 (apart from Grenade mode) , I'll stick with a Note4 until it dies ! Love this phone :)

Keep your phone above a small piece of metal object or on top of a stapler pin (spare) box so that there is gap between the bottom and the surface on which the phone is placed. Do not keep it on bed or on woodden table as such. It will lead to heating of battery. No company can do anything about this. So using carefully depends on you.

I think motherboard has problem. My phone also got the same symptoms. It will cost 25000 Indian Rupees. My Samsung Note 4 : Bought on : May 2016 Warranty extended on (with effect from May 2017) : Feb 2017 Warranty now valid till : May 2019. So they have replaced the motherboard for free after 10 days because of GST implementation in India. Please do not drop your phone at any cost. You may feel that display didn't break and is working fine. But each time it falls down, the impact goes to the motherboard. Body is sturdy. But the shock because of dropping down goes directly to the motherboard. So please do not drop your phone (regardless of the company) thinking that it has gorilla glass of any version.

There have been several OTA updates for the Note 4 recently. All have been security and stability updates. As old as this phone is, new features from Samsung are extremely unlikely. If they were going to add anything, they'd have updated the OS to Nougat.

The Note 4 is a closer match to the V10 than the G4. If screen size really matters, the Note is better, hands down. The stylus is another feature the G4 can't touch. Try to use another photo app to control the camera, if stays the same then i recommend to factory restore your device and hope that problem goes away. The temperature in load should be like 50 - 60 celcius at top, 80 is not safe.

Greetings fellow Note 4 users... so i see that most of you have battery issues and some may even have Lag issues... there are so many custom roms in XDA forum for Note for varients such is 910F/910G/910T etc along with very good Custom Kernels.. so give them a try to give a new life to your old note 4 ,, i basically tried all of them Android 6 custom roms ( not the Nougat roms as they dont have S-pen support) just to see how it goes.honestly i really like to have the stock features with stability as i travel abroad as well and as this is my personal and business phone i stick to the Stock Android 6 rom with little mods i have config suitable for me. so far i get extremely good battery life and no restarts and lags etc.also i have mods on the system Ui to give the phone a new feel. if you guys want the same i would advise first to Root the phone and install custom recovery like TWRP and start modding. always remember read the XDA forum posts very careful and make sure you do everything correct and if not regret bricking you phone and then blame me or any of the fellow brothers in XDA forum. what i advise is Using the stock rooted rom with Ram kernel RC4 with tweaks from Kernel Auditor or Lspeed apps ( use both if ur smart enough to do the correct settings). so its upto you if you like to try. Note 4 originally came as Kitkat which was later upgraded to Lollipop and then to Marshmallow. You can download preferred firmware from Sammobile and flash using Odin. Google for using Odin.

My phone was Singapore model originally with upgrade to lollipop when I bought it. Since there was delay in Marshmallow update in that model, I changed my OS to Indian version and I was able to get Marshmallow. The performance has been the same since the first day to be honest. Marshmallow feels better, but not much different than lollipop. I can assure you you won't regret using note 4.

I get about 5 hours screen on time.. with wifi always on.. playing clash of clans/dream league soccer or watching youtube videos/movies on my Note 4. I will recommend Note 4 of course, but buy an extra battery along with the device. Note 4 is nearly 3 years old and you may not get an extra battery later when u need to replace. I loved my note 4! First phone that I've ever had that lasted longer than my contract (24 months). The last software update destroyed it though! Since the the update it no longer recognises sim cards. I've restored it to factory settings and now not only does it not recognise sim cards but having dramas with the phone finding networks. Nice last security patch bringing new samsung internet browser The older it is, the more I love this handset which it is the last of its kind. It is really well crafted and still up to date in most situations. Screen is incredible and far better than recent models, rear camera is again more than competent with OIS capabilities. S-pen is helpful (not heavy user). I can do whatever I want regardless all new desktop, light and colors. I feel like current update schema by monthly security patch plus some minor refinements is great for some device you need to rely in and cannot afford experiments.

Try to free up as much internal storage possible. Move it all over to the memory card if you're using one. If not it'll be handy to get one in. Free internal storage in double digits will be good. Get rid of the cache data, it can pile up quickly depending on how many apps are used and how often. I've observed from my Note 3 that I had as well as the Note 4 I have now that cleaning apps didn't help a bit. The built in smart manager is good enough for the task. I got rid of those and haven't faced any recurring issues. My Note 4 is now almost 2 years old but is working fine.

I have been using the S5 for a while until they upgraded the operation system -- and now nothing, nothing at all, works properly. Don't even have incoming Caller ID now on the S5. I had a good run with it, but now need a new phone -- might search for an Note 4 as a replacement and hope I don't have the same issues. I really think the problem is the new operating system on the s5, I hope the same thing doesn't happen to the Note 4.

Yes, please do update to marshmallow. It's quite improved over 5.1.1. However while installing the update the device will get quite hot. But after the update it should be fine. Also make use of a memory card and keep as much free space on device memory as possible. Do get rid of cache data, it helps keep the device running smooth and cool.

Depends on your budget. Only buy Samsung Note 4 only if you can buy original battery (at least 2 or 3 excluding the one in the handset) because this model has become obselete. Or buy S7 edge or any one from S8 series and use them carefully without dropping mainly. You have to enable close up mode in Nokia N8 for taking videos with CAF (Continuous Auto Focus). This is not applicable in 808 as it enabled by default. But if you tap a particular area in the display during video shooting in 808, CAF will be disabled. Then you have to enable it again by tapping the CAF icon on the left corner in the display (no need to stop the recording to do this). Note that only optical zoom can zoom more distance (compared to digital zoom) without much loss in clarity. This applies for all mobile phone cameras and all normal digital cameras. Only professional digital cameras can zoom with even more clarity. This is the fact.

N8 and 808 pureview is better for low light photography (only for objects that are near) because of xenon flash. If you take photos without shivering your hand, you won't find much difference (but letters will look bit blur but able to read when zoomed to the maximum level after taking the picture because N8 and 808 does not have optical stabilization). Still N8 and 808 are not worst. But audio bass effect is better in Samsung Note 4 than N8 and 808 (only when used with Sony MDR-XB70AP ear phones).

No problem in WiFi. Rear camera clarity is best in Note 4 compared to the similar phones. No dead spots. Battery life is ok if you have force stopped and disabled all unnecessary apps. Front camera does not have autofocus. So clarity will be less.

Hopefully I can unlock it completely and flash in a clean stock Samsung ROM, possibly the lowest Android version number since from my experience those are the best: cleaner, smoother, lighter on resources, one of the latest iterations where most bugs have been fixed. Why Note 4 after 3 years ? Well... I have Note 3 Neo, I lost the charger, battery is at half life (I am a heavy user), and we all know about the Note 7. I even sought that, but it's obnoxiously expensive now, then if you really want to be safe you'd better adapt a different battery. Anyway.... now I come to the WHY. SuperAMOLED: I'll never go back: legibility, colours, brightness. 5.7" with impressive resolution. Samsung Camera algorithms: for me the absolute top of image processing on a phone. I don't need the most accurate nor the most perfect, just the most pleasing. Samsung delivers here. The camera itself: still very capable high res shooter, very detailed, wonderful 2160p videos, OIS. The S-Pen which itself is quite useful. The proper set of replaceable battery and microSD card expansion, unlike the "improved" successor with shrunk battery and no card slot. I'd have spent more money on the 4 than on the 5.... I completely disregarded the Note 5, be it even 100 bucks cheaper (like I'd disregard any Galaxy S6 type of devices). Still pretty powerful processors, A and C series I think they could still lag behind this, a bit tight on RAM. A plethora of nice accessories all available now for cheap on eBay and Amazon. Ultimately the price... at 233 EUR shipped from HK I think I've improved over my already nice purchase of the 2014 Note 3 Neo for 250 EUR, and I am still ahead of the best A and C series competitions in many ways. Note 4 even if it were slower (which it isn't) is a FLAGSHIP, probably the best phone the electronics world could deliver in 2014.

I've run several tests to be sure of its authenticity (using Antutu benchmark and cpu-z) and though everything checks out, i have noticed the pictures are not as crystal clear as Note 4 pictures should be. My notes 4 starting shutting down just immediately after I upgraded from 5.0 to 6.0 and since then it hasn't been normal as I cannot take pictures using its flash light without it going off. I hope the new 6.0.1 corrects this.

Marshmallow is an attractive improve to lollipop that may fix battery life issues on the Note 4/Edge. I found the Note edge cool when I got it, but then the edge slowly became an extra feature that I didn't bother to use. It also leaves the side of the phone blacked out when you're not using the edge, which is very unsatisfying for me and is annoying taking screenshots. Like @Anon said, curved glass is harder to fix, the phone is more prone to shattering since the edge isn't protected by bezel. If you don't have the certainty that you're going to utilize the features of the edge and/or not drop the phone too often, then I'd advise the Note 4 instead.

Hi Hazee I bought my Note 4 early 2015 and it never gave me any problem. battery charge is durable and still ok. Maybe because i avoid to charge it on Tvs or computers. The cell never had that problem of shutting down and i didn't know about it on Note 4 cellphones. according of my experience i recommend it without any doubts. great cellphone!!

No. There is no official update to Nougat from Samsung. If your bootloader is not locked, you could flash CyanogenMod. But I wouldn't recommend it on any Note. Samsung's software is by far the best for Notes. CM feels like a lobotomy. I had a Note 4 for 2 years, and am familiar with Marshmallow on that phone. I now have a Note 5 that got upgraded to Nougat earlier this month. There are some nice features. But it's not a game changer at all. I'd be perfectly happy with a Note 4 w/Marshmallow today. It's still a *great* phone! I think you'll be getting Google Assistant with an OTA Google App update soon, if you have not already. All Marshmallow phones are supposed to get it.

im using samsung note 4 but it always shut down and restart even i used new battery, and its not a battery problem,, and i fix it by using WAKE LOCK darken application in playstore,just install and select PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK and my samsung note 4 back normally used again without shutting down,restarting,and freezing.,Maybe i can help to other note 4 user with same issue as mine and now im very happy with my samsung note 4,,,,

The Note 4 is a great phone and has official support up to Android Marshmallow (you can get Nougat manually by booting a custom Nougat rom on your phone). It's a great phone if you want a hands-on experience with a stylus and your phone. It's not a great phone if you're not planning to multitask with the aid of the S-pen, which is the point of the Note series. The Note 5 is a big improvement with the better functioning pen, water tight (but not waterproof!) design, and more attractive body. The trades off is $100+ cost, you're no longer able to change the battery out or expand your storage and the back cover is much harder to replace. Even if the Note 4 is a bit outdated compared to the Note 5, it still has a lot more customization. I'd say grab yourself a Note 4 while it's still hot, it's a great phone and has advantages over later models.

How wise is buying this phone in April 2017 considering the prices have fallen on Amazon ? Does the new piece come with the Nougat update ? What updates do you advice after buying it now ? Have heard of issues with heating and other issue after ppl have done the Marshmallow update. If bought now, how to make it work to its peak ?

For trying this trick I probably have to buy a new battery I think bcoz my note is not even turning on or even responding to charging. I will try... I don't know Samsung service center people will listen to what I m saying n downgrade it to kitkat as they think it's board complaint ... Still I will try...

Dear Friend. I had the same problem but my Note 4 was in warranty period by only 1 day, so it saved me rs 14,500/-. When my phone went into rebooting loop, the samsung service center engineer that I went to did a firmware downgrade to android 4.4, which was the very first riginal firmware by samsung. After downgrading to android 4.4 my Note 4 become very normal in every way. But when I upgraded it to android marshmallow 6.0, it became unstable again, but because my Note 4 was within warranty period I asked him to replace its motherboard and samsung service center did so. If your phone is out of warranty, then downgrade it to its original firmware. I am 100% shure it will work as normal and then switch off auto download mode in settings. This way at least you will be able to use your Note 4 again. In future if my phone's emmc fails again I will also do this because one can't risk around rs 15,000/- just on motherboard when there's only 3 month warranty given after that. And this is for every Note 4 user who has a emmc effected phone dusting in their drawer, guys downgrade your phone to android 4.4 and hopefully it might be working again. Who knows? but that might be helpful for everyone.

Not at all. That is the problem in the battery. I have bought 2 original batteries from a good seller at ebay India. Phone got shutdown after reaching 25% in one battery and 40% in another battery. I had explained that to the seller and thenseller sent me replacement batteries. He said me to test the replacement batteries before sending back the 2 defective ones thatbhe had sent initially. I have tested the replacement batteries. They were working fine..

All the spare ones are 100% charged in the phone itself. I have kept a SMS as a draft containing the details when they were charged. So I change each battery pnce a month. I didn't put the battery cover for my phone. Instead I have put nilkin back cover. Simple.
