Samsung Galaxy S5 - User Reviews

  • I like my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 speed, size, camera, dust resistance, water resistance, removable charcoal gray polycarbonate back, replaceable battery, upgradeable storage, fingerprint sensor, voice commands, dictation and scratch resistant screen. But it seems to have reached the end of its useful life, as evidenced by a recent planned obsolescence OS update, which introduces glitches into the system thus encouraging you to buy a new phone. I've had 2 S5s and 3 screens developed a flicker in the lower 1/3 of the screen, the outer vinyl has separated from the stress relief on 3 charge cables and a Sony 64GB SDXC memory chip became corrupted and unusable when the phone locked up while taking photos. Three charge port covers have been replaced, but that's easy to do yourself. Based on these experiences, and the increasing difficulty finding cases, it may be time to try a different manufacturer.

  • Is your battery old as well? Li-ion batteries lose capacity over time and a new battery may help. Just curious

  • Its been more than 5 years and still using it. Storage is less however can use lighter apps. Just recently the finger sensor takes a few seconds. I will use it till it works.

  • I'm not a fan of this phone. I'm not attached to my phone 24/7 but I do use it a lot, and this phone cannot handle it. Granted it is 5 years old, here are the issues I experience: Battery drains quickly, very little storage space, texts take a long time to load, very slow in general, running apps overheats the phone, charging port does not hold the charger well and falls out easily, GPS does not work, and screen light does weird blinking/colors if on the lowest brightness setting. All that being said, I think someone who uses their phone very, very lightly would like it. It's not a luxury phone but it gets the job done; it's reliable and sturdy, just not cut out for how much I want to use it. If you want a nice phone just to text, call, and maybe occasionally look something up online, then this is great for you.

  • Sure, trust me, it won't let u down. Here's why: 😎

  • If 2 GB is enough for you, and you are willing to do some basic maintenance (cleaning the cache, using lighter apps, maybe freezing a few unneeded apps), go for it. Mine is 4.5 years old and still going strong, and totally reliable. I reboot it maybe once a month just to refresh it a little.

  • Hey is galaxy s5 really that good cause I want to buy one

  • How did it go?

  • s5 now became my dashcam... nice and clear

  • With New Battery & New Case It Give New Life To My Old S5. Listen Wirelessly With Good Wireless Earpiece Output Desire Audio Quailty. Thumbs Up My Daily Driver.

  • my s5 is better than the go pro 5 but not with 7 but it has a headphone jack and its 4g but good

  • Great Device As My Main Phone As I Installed Few App Mainly Use For Work.

  • Congrats! I got mine in April 2017, it was already 2 years old, and it's still going strong.

  • I just bought my new Samsung galaxy s5

  • sm-g900l/s/k

  • True. Can Easy Replace New Battery & It's Cheap......... (New Battery, Root It "Official Lineage OS" Or Stock Android Marshmallow (Still Usable).....

  • Whistle

  • battery life very poor.

  • I'm using this phone for 3 years by now and it works fine for me i'm running Leanage OS 15 with Android 8.1 It's very smooth & powerful . the only issue is the battery life , but you can use a powerbank .

  • I know powerbanks often are annoying, but use a powerbank!

  • Me too, on my third battery. I haven't changed because all new phones have fixed batteries so I can't change batteries easily.

  • For Better Battery Go For Stock Rom Still Usable For A Few Year.

  • I'm still using the S5 mid-2019 daily, running LineageOS on Android 9. An excellent phone. The only downside I'm facing is declining battery life (a number of years in).

  • Custom Rom.

  • please release nougat 7.1 for Samsung Galaxy S5

  • Best phone ever

  • It Located Inside The Status Bar.

  • yes. it have nfc.

  • Does it have NFC option?

  • Make It Simple For You, So You Can Easy Decide On Which To Pick. Battery: LG G2 = 81Hrs With 3000MAH S5 = 83Hrs With 2800MAH "S5 Wins Here" Software: LG G2 = Lolipop S5 (5.02) = Marshmallow (6.0.1) "S5 Wins Here" Performance: LG G2 = Snapdragon 800 2GB RAM S5 = Snapdragon 801 2GB RAM "S5 Wins Here" Benchmark: "S5 Wins Here" Gaming: Both Old Chip/Handset, Might Not Optimized Well. Pretty Much Like This, If You Have More Money To Spent Go For At Least S9+ Or Even S10+.

  • You are absolutely right sir. Tbh, I can't decide between the S5 or the LG G2. Both have LineageOS support, but the S5 have the option for microsd and removable battery.

  • Does this phone have a timer?

  • Can fingerprint scanner be used to wake up the phone

  • This phone is good. Still holds up in 2019 as a daily driver if you need it. However I do not think that you should keep using it with the stock software. The last version for it is Android 6 Marshmallow which is old, and it's based on the old TouchWiz, which is an old version of the Samsung software (ever since then we have had Samsung Experience and OneUI), and it's quite unoptimized and sluggish. I suggest you put lineagesOS on it. It's based on the latest android version (9 at the moment) and it feels like a breath of fresh air. The phone has support for both TWRP and Lineage which means you have a good guarantee that the source of the ROM is legit.

  • You can install lineageos, there is even one based on android 9, it will work 10x faster than stock samsung rom. Just not sure if you can get good battery anymore, even "new" batteries for this phone do not hold nearly as much as original battery used to when the phone was released.

  • I heard custom ROM is good for this device, wonder if a custom ROM with Android 8 Oreo + new battery will make this even better than new? :o

  • Does anyone bought a brand new s5 and it was already updated to lollipop (5) or higher?

  • Like it not, the phone innovations peaked with S5. This phone (alongside with it's neo/mini etc. siblings) was one of the incredibly few devices that managed to combine both IP RESISTANCE with REMOVABLE BATTERY. Unlike other few phones with this combination, this one packed in plenty of power, very decent battery, amazing camera, great screen and importantly near perfect size, allowing the device to be used with one hand. Unfortunately, this was also when Samsung (and other manufacturers) realized that if they keep releasing phones like this, there will be no reason for users to upgrade - with basic upkeeping it doesn't slow down, it's fairly compact with plastic design so it's unlikely to break, IP rating for extra durability... That's when phones with non-removable batteries started showing up. First it was for the "extra water resistance", then it started appearing in phones with no water resistance at all, for the sole purpose of forcing users to upgrade. Next was glass back designs and constant size-increasing to make the phone as prone to breaking as possible, so the users are forced to upgrade on a regular basics. We're unlikely to see the trend of reliable devices coming back anytime soon, because phone manufacturers (just like any other capitalist company) don't want to sell - they want to keep selling.

  • Your phone should have updated to 6.0.1 automatically a couple of years ago. If not, there is most likely something wrong with your settings. BTW, Android 4.4 is "KitKat" not "Lolipop".

  • My s5 doesn’t give me automatic upgrade from lollipop to marshmallow! Please, help me out

  • My s5 doesn’t give me automatic upgrade from lollipop to marshmallow! Please, help me out

  • Please, I am using s5 at&t version with 4.4 lollipop but I am yet to receive any upgrade alert to marshmallow which it’s upgradable to. What can I do please?

  • Please, I am using s5 at&t version with 4.4 lollipop but I am yet to receive any upgrade alert to marshmallow which it’s upgradable to. What can I do please?

  • wow this phone is the best phone i have ever use the battery gets full in an hour and it has the best graphic ever

  • The S5 is what made me appreciate the removable battery concept. It gave me 4 years of reliable service before I moved on to the Note 4.

  • Dont know why my fingerprint sensor is not working. SAD

  • Home Button Came Off, I Guess I Will Have To Use Pin To Switch It On Everytime! Old But Gold!

  • Led Just for notifiactions, flash led no

  • There's no such error. Maybe you what you mean is Google has stopped. It just need a phone reset to dafault.

  • There's no such error. Maybe you what you mean is Google has stopped. It just need a phone reset to dafault.

  • Actually, it actually supports Oreo using LineageOS. Feels like a new phone. Very quick!

  • This S5 is tough. Although its original OS is Lollipop, i was able to upgrade it to Oreo using LineageOS. No hangs no lags. Feels like a new phone!

  • What does it mean when a pop up says Unfortunately phone has stopped and how do I fix it. Smasung s5 owner.

  • You can get custom ROMs like LineageOs 16 which ships Android Pie

  • No. But if you use an app like Open Camera, it can use the whole screen as a front camera flash, by making it bright white at the moment of taking a photo.

  • does this phone have LED flash on the front camera? thank you

  • No, This smartphone does not support Android Nougat yet and I think this smartphone won't get any android update yet, but you still can update software only (if you already didnt updated it, not android - only software update)

  • Hello, I am currently on android M, on my galaxy s5, does the phone support android 7.0 nougat? Thank you

  • Bless you for this opinion! This phone is really a great phone. I'm currenyly using it. Camera is something else(Very clear)

  • Best smartphone. I have one, and honestly I can tell you this smartphone is perfect coz expandable memory, water can't destroy it, and it also has removable battery, that's still the best part of this smartphone, so if your battery is dying you can easily remove it and replace with another one. This smartphone, Galaxy S5, was the LAST Samsung smartphone THAT has this future, S6, S7, S8, S9, S10.... S10+, S10 THEY CAN NOT REPLACE THE BATTERY. When we talk about the battery, it's pure beast on the S5. Design is for me, really cool, if we talk about new Galaxy S5, but if it's used little bit, design will be little bit ugly. Android 6.0.1 is perfect on this smartphone, also GSMARENA.COM, edit your galaxy s5 info, it's still 6.0.1 android version, beautiful design, big party of this smartphone is plastic, but that's not matter. This smarpthone is water resistance, including it can be 1meter in water for 120minutes. Anyway if it's fully of plastic, it's hard to destroy this smartphone. Sadly, smartphone status is discontinued, BUT there are a lot of onlline places where you can buy it, including amazon, ebay and others, officially posted by samsung. My recommendations are to buy on amazon.com, this smartphone is the best one you can get for little number of money. Buy it ;) Thank you for reading my opinion

  • it is an amazing phone and yes i still use it in 2019 too. i update it to android oreo with a room. its not that hard you can try

  • Why it is not updated to android 9 while it is LTE ?

  • Fake application. It takes money and full of ads for nothing . Must be banned

  • Best phone ever. Expandable memory, water resistant, and the best part is removable battery I bet your S10 can't do that ;)

  • Still use it today, One of the best smartphones and he is NOT worth it in 2019. Camera is PERFECT, it take better photos then 300$ smartphones! I WOULD LIKE TO SEE 8.1 UPDATE FOR THIS SMARTPHONE.

  • If you want 9.0, download lineageos, considerably faster rom.

  • Samsung Please upgrade it to android 9. Thank you.

  • S5 is pretty great. The camera is extremely lousy in low light, etc., but what do you want from an older phone. I would suggest getting an extended battery. I used a belt clip case to carry it. Just be aware you won't probably be able to fit it in any kind of case, Otter Box etc, but you can put a glass screen protector on it. You can even swap out batteries! This is the last Galaxy to be able to take off the back! My Note 8 has crazy better power management and 1,000x better camera

  • I got mine almost 2 years ago, no issues with battery or almost anything else. However, it was 2 years old already and the previous owner bought a new battery. So, my phone is around 4 years old, my battery is around 2 years old, and still working fine. If you take care of it (I don't overheat it and I charge it whenever I can but never leave it on charger when it's full) it should be fine. Also, batteries can easily be bought and replaced.

  • I'm getting one soon and I was wondering, did you ever have any battery issues? as that is one of the most consistent issues I have heard about the.

  • Its galaxy s5 lte

  • UK

  • have used it for close to a year and it's just perfect. . don't regret my decision to buy it even an inch

  • I like it

  • My screen goes flickery yellow when the brightness is low and has only 16 gigs, too small for me

  • You may be using a charger that is not powerful enough. This phone requires over 1a to charge, unless turned off. There is also a quick-charge usb3 cable that charges it faster.

  • i have my for year and it woke just like i just get it

  • Had a few problems with this phone. About 1 month after usage, had trouble with charging the phone. It would only charge when phone is turned off. Also had trouble transferring files from my sd card to pc. It works fine if I actually take out the sd to put directly into pc, but it doesn't work well consistently when phone is plugged via usb to pc. Finally, phone screen died. Phone can still be turned on, you can hear the notifications, calls, even fingerprint is still working but you can't see anything on the screen(all black). Lasted 1 year and a half.

  • How come?

  • Galaxy s5 stil hot..mine has s6 features like 577pixcel .3gram..and more

  • International ? Korean ?

  • i have used s5 for 4 years and now my father is using it.he is learning and falling s5 here and there..still works great.camera and battery backup is stunning.

  • I bought this phone UK used in October 2017 but never have any repair up to now! The phone's camera is really a monster! I can't forget the day I wanted to snap & someone close to me asked "broz your phone na mirror?

  • i lost my samsung galaxy s5 phone how can i recpver it

  • how can i recover my cell phone

  • I have had this camera for over 2 years and I have tried to update to a newer phone even an iPhone and nothing compares to this phone! I bought the S7 and returned it the next day because it didn't do half of what this phone does and it is easy to use!

  • Yup

  • root and install... dotos and see the magic .

  • Do NOT Update to marshmallow , RAM is too low , and battery drain faster

  • This is good. The flagship phone galaxy s6 wont give you this much time.

  • My dear friend. you are using it since long time. Buy a new orignal battery , backup your data and factory reset your phone. It will be a brand new phone again.

  • nice one but try to improve its technology

  • The operating system and some apps require space for functions of normal use. Disabling or Uninstalling unnecessary apps and features can release some extra space. The designation of 2GB is based on the hardware capability, not the actual space after boot up as different phones use different amounts. For instance, my S5 only has 339M available at the moment as I am using a lot of tools and tweeks. 1.6GB is still pretty good!

  • Been having a phone as a hand me down. Works okay especially from what I had. Does lag a bit at times. I noticed it supposed to be two gigabytes of RAM but it says 1.67 Ram. To me that's a quite a bit difference. there's supposed to be some kind of new update it already has lollipop but I'm afraid what the new update is, last time I had a different phone and it had an update the phone didn't work well

  • Which is better, this or the Samsung a6 2016?

  • It is not about much money. This phone is really an ancient of days full of amazing features.

  • not all people have much money honey..

  • Same with me here.

  • I am still running android 5.0 on my galaxy S5. My carrier isn't doing anymore updates. How can I update to 6.0? I tried my local bestbuy but they said they don't do it anymore. Not sure if they gave me the run around or not

  • WOW I cannot believe there are people still talking and discussion about this phone in 2018, almost 2019 that was basically 5 years ago! I got it when it was released but I had it just for 7 months and then moved to next phone and now the Galaxy S9+

  • what is "privacy guard" on Lineage? Speaking on security, how are there roms in terms of security overall? does it receive monthly updates?

  • Probably Shoud update to lineage os 15.1 trust aka the privacy guard is now better if you are conserned with privacy

  • Have you noticed any bugs on the lineage os? Are you a heavy user and notice any slow downs considering its a 2014 phone with 2gb ram or is it fluid to use as a daily driver with the custom os? Tried any other os that could be recommended? thanks

  • I'm playing with this for 10 months. installed lineageos 14.1 from very beginning. Phone has no lags, doesn't freeze, sound quality and picture quality very good. Doesn't heat when bluetooth is in use. Battery is very good quality. I'm still not planning to abandon it. This is the last S* with replacable battery, which for me was criterion to buy it.

  • I dont think so. IPhone nowadays has cheated many users via their backward technology! Overpriced. You only pay their friendly software that almost worthless and you got old technology with 500% markup profit. Only lazy and illiterate people will buy Iphone.

  • iPhone with good battery life yeah right

  • I have owned a samsung galaxy S5 for 3 years, never had any issues. It performs well.

  • Been using the S5 for 3 years now, credibly can say its a great, reliable phone for short term use. - MicroSD allows you to increase memory space - Familiar stock Andriod UI - Foolproof so long as you get a good screen protector. - Waterproof too - Reliable Problem is, it tends to slow down & overheat VERY fast, esp with newer modern games. - Camera's total sh*t in dark light conditions - It doesn't matter if you replace the battery, the older it gets, the more battery it uses. Used to last a day and half, 3 years later and it's less than 16 hrs. - Overheating. - Lags & jitters when you're using different apps. (Probably due to its tiny 2 GB RAM) - takes a long time to connect to wifi (Have to manually switch it on from settings) There are better phones out there for this price though, but if you're getting it, use it no longer than 2 years, or only a year if its second hand. Hope this helps.

  • You will be sorry.

  • I don't trust Samsung's performance anymore. I believe Iphones are by far a lot better for performance, security and battery life.

  • 4 hours SOT on moderate to heavy usage on this phone in 2018 good or not?

  • How to determine if device is lte model besides for the word written on back cover?

  • What is the latest security update for the s5 Lte version? Also anyones advice if this is better that the huawei p8 lite 2017? Which roms are reliable, updated regularly (security), fast & generally a pleasure to use? Any first hand user experiences? Thanks

  • change your battery

  • Worst battery life

  • battery gives me under temperature error

  • Also forgot to mention very slow play store download speed. No such problems on any other devices, but the s5. Tried everything up to resetting the phone to factory settings, but no success.

  • How to fix high cpu temperatures above 80c. And with this high cpu temp the flash isn't working. It tells me that I need to lower the temp of my phone. Sometimes it even does this when my phone isn't even warm.

  • Please if any one have an idea how to install Offline local Radio on S5 without using internet. Again i recommend any one to buy a secondhand S5 Coz i don't think there are a new ones in stores. Very friendly phone.

  • Excellent phone, ambient light sensor, compass, finger print scanner working fine, Price is affordable, Screenshot with scrolling function The Best part is no store other than Google play store , So many Apps are able to uninstall. I recommend this phone.

  • I highly recommend S 5. Quick and nice to use. But recording quilty it is not good. It is the same problem in S4. In all Iike it very much.

  • Its really a great phone by features. Selfie camera sucks still using it in 2018 since 2014 2 times battery replaced. however if you need to buy and sell used phones, post free classifieds

  • S-View cover? I have it and I love it. The phone looks really classy with it too. Also protects the phone and it's very durable. As for auto rotation, I installed Button Mapper and customized my soft keys, but it's easy to switch from the notification bar as well.

  • Look at s5 easy and quick to use.. a) Water proof 1m b) Own setting preferance quick button at home..good to quick on/off rotation function. No need to waste time via setting etc c) The last hp with special cover function which can on/off the phone with the lid..(later hp don't hv this..main reason i'm still using s5) For cosmestic..go buy this unique cover and your s5 will be new again

  • S5 is still great. Still using it and diff to choose other phone. The quick buttons are useful. Water proof..and the best part is auto-cover where u just open or close the lid for on/off function. Only this hp got this special cover. For screen auto-rotation..just select the quick button..hassle free no need to go via setting unlike most other phone

  • Amazon .co.uk

  • if you find a brand new Galaxy s5 sm-g900f please tell me!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Which 3rd party app is good to take selfie photo better in s5.?

  • It's only possible if your phone is rooted. However, you can disable most of them, and when you do it they will automatically revert to an old version which is usually much smaller in size.

  • how to delete pre-installed app to free up space?

  • This phone is a classic, great Display, great battery water and dust resistant, great camera, if you wipe the cache regularly it's fast and activate developer options to remove animations although the front camera is poor however 3rd party apps can enhance it I don't see the need to upgrade my S5 gave the P20's camera a run for its money haha :D

  • Since 2014 October, Perfect mobile, worth to the money spent.Water/dust proof...I don't know the reason for discontinues. If I can find, I love to buy another one for my brother!!!

  • Don't known to say,but this phone is trully great. This words wrote I having in past Nokia 3,Nokia 6,LG G3,Vivax Point X1,Lenovo A6010,Motorola C+.. This phone is on a first place!

  • Go to play store, download Zedge and knock yourself out! ✌🏼

  • IWISH ihad one!

  • Agreed truly a great phone and all time classic

  • Still have this phone even in 2018. I love it more than any iPhone. The Best phone I ever used and had. I'm going to use this phone until the end as long as it will work.

  • How do you record ringtones with the S5

  • I had the same issue. The reason being 2800mah battery and it is not that efficient. I was a heavy user too and phone lasted only for 6 hours for me after a single charge or if I use it occasionally then they phone would survive for 9 hours max with power saving mode turned on both the times

  • I keep reading about how the battery in this phone is good, but my 16 GB Galaxy S5 barely lasts me a full day. I start using it fully charged around 7 in the morning and it's usually dead around 5 PM. Granted, I'm a heavy user and have a few power-hungry apps installed, but I still think a phone should last more that 10 hours regardless.

  • But you can get a new battery and replace it in 10 seconds.

  • I have a S5 G900I model which is now 4 years Old. Still works great. Camera , Display is perfect , also not bad in performance and also protected from water damage. The only problem is the battery is very poor now. When the Indicator comes to 15% then phone will shutdown. So I don't recommend to buy used S5 devices because even though you get the good product you can't manage the day. But the phone is good for developers to test apps.

  • That sounds good!

  • UK used phones are grades by grades o. If I don't tell anyone that the phone is UK used, they won't know.

  • $139 for used s5?? Too much expensive..

  • I m also using this phone for same 4 years n it works still best n good. i use youtube n other apps. it still doing good. I will give 5 stars.

  • Bought used one for $139 last year October. My observations so far: ●Battery is very strong ●phone does not lag/hang ●very sharp camera-proud of the camera ●screen sensitivity 100% ●power saving is really amazing But ● Front camera is not very good

  • Best phone ever. I got 2 S5 just in case one messes up one day..

  • I am using this phone for last 4 years and it's still running great. Apart from some cosmetic wear and tear. The phone looks and works like brand new. Actually I am writing this on same phone. Battery is still strong enough for a day. Display is excellent feels more crisp and bright than my brand new iPhone 8. A true workhorse from Samsung.

  • Good To Hear From You..... Used This Device Before Was Snappy With Old Tasty Mashmallow Os 6.0.1, Sold It But Still It Holds The Memories I Had With It..........

  • I've owned the 16gb version since August last year, it had already been used and i can safely say the phone is amazing. the camera is good, the sound quality is wonderful, the touch screen is sensational. My advice, if you are to buy this phone, make sure to have samsung original charger and battery, you will like it

  • Really...i like d phone and i wanna get it now...

  • It means that it can last upto 83hrs when it isnt in use for that amount of time.

  • Do not do it ...if you dont want to break you phone.

  • Endurance rating 83h? His battery certainly won't last that much. But it has the advantage of replaceable batteries. But it makes me doubt of other battery test in other phones. Endurance rating 96h in Mate 10 pro is comparatively absurd as it last a LOT longer than g5

  • really

  • how can you do that? teach me please?

  • Is it OTA or custom rom?

  • I'm running Oreo custom rom on my S5 :P

  • Custom rom?

  • Enjoy guys ! 7.0.1 for s5 its available !

  • Am using Samsung s5 and it is in 4.4 version and it is function well and am afraid if I upgrade to 6.0 it will affect the battery life Pls reply me, I how about yours? I Iean your phone battery.

  • You're not the only one with the same wish... Android Authority just published an article called "A lot of you want another Samsung Galaxy S5" and they make a lot of sense. I got mine more than a year ago, it was already 2 years old, still very satisfied with it.

  • Can Samsung make the Galaxy s5 2018 with regular s5 features and the active button in the regular s5 colors

  • Probably the same problem as the S5 Mini has. Put your finger over the ambient light sensor, and it wakes. It's a bug that usually only happens in super-bright summer conditions.

  • Agree it's a very good phone till now and with removable battery mine works great and still using it no issues at all

  • bought it used for 30 euros. works great like new release phone

  • Have the same problem. Just happened

  • Phone is on but the screen is off, totally black

  • 4 years and still going strong, no need to upgrade my S5 does everything that I need plus more,I know that it's a old phone but it is still awesome

  • GSM ARENA- You work helps to easily compare phone but I think if you add either current price or the price of each phone when it was first sold, one will have no reason to use another site except yours.

  • France before when i add text in my MEMO I needed to save in order to get the text registred now i add text and cannot come back to initial one : it is saved automatically how can i come back to previous control? i want to save before changes are taken into account. Thank you

  • Yes agree very good phone and one of the most reliable phone with removable battery. This is the last flagship with removable battery and i will keep it. Good camera, smooth, still fast for me

  • is the galaxy s5 that good compared to its predecessor s4??

  • I love this phone die! Very sharp camera, my battery na real machine. Since I bought this phone as fairly used, I don't carry charger around again! Very strong battery. Smooth in browsing, very sharp display...

  • Did you just say this phone not 4G? But it is a,b ,g ,n, ac, wlan

  • Throw Ur Galaxy S5 Into Dustbin or Give It To Others...... Now 4G Vo LTE Compulsory...... Don't Waste Ur Time :)

  • If your S5 is lagging, it's probably because of a recent OS update. You need to clear the cache partition. I did and it runs like new now. 1) Turn off the phone. 2) Hold down the Home button, the Power button, and the Volume Up button all at the same time. After a few moments, the phone will turn off and it will indicate that it is going into Recovery mode. 3) Use the volume keys to navigate and power button to confirm. You'll want to wipe the cache partition. You won't lose any data, it's just a cache. After the wipe, reboot the phone and voila!

  • upgrade to latest software marshmallow it should improve. mine is ok

  • what best to do? My S5 keeps lagging and slow performance my Os is 5.0 lollipop version

  • S5 is very good in crypto currency mining so fast with a chipset of snapdragon 801..#Alright

  • Contact technicien

  • Mine started doing same thing recently. Doesn't stay off for such long periods of time though.

  • How to scrollcapture screenshot in s5?

  • my Samsung shuts down and wont turn on for up to 6 hours

  • Now there is S9, but I will keep my S5 for one year more. As I and children drop it sometimes, S9 is too fragile with too much glass. Hope Samsung will give it up and came out with something more usable like A8 (2018), but with better camera.

  • Same here no way letting it go....damn good phone. Evergreen

  • Still holding on to my S5 even though I have a Huawei P9 Plus. I don't ever want to give up my S5.

  • MY IR BLASTER or universal remote Sensor (for controlling electronic ) is not working and that is one of my main reason I went for this phone. Can it be replaced??? Or is it on board ? I checked the sensor with another phone's camera and the light is not blinking as it use to do on my Samsung s4. I need your urgent help please. Thank you.

  • Completely agree and till today this is still one of the most relaible and stable phone around. If u have one maintain it properly rather than those irremovable battery

  • Maybe you should check the wall charger which comes with the phone, you know, the one that's design to charge your phone, it's made to charge the battery in the fastest way it can handle................................................................ dumb

  • I am a Samsung Galaxy S5 & Note 4 fan. Both of these have were the last ones to have removable batteries & removable memory. This lets me always be able to use them. Batteries eventually wear out & won't charge anymore. But these phones are technically here forever -- due to their removable factors. Also, there is an application that lets you take a picture of your self while taking a pic of something else i.e. a Sunset, a cloud group, being with friends etc. That app is no longer available in the later phones. I do have a Note 8 via unique circumstances. App is not available. The work arounds are not my preference although interesting.

  • try to download the Samsung Members app in the play store maybe it can help you to diagnose your software and hardware using that app and follow instructions given.

  • Useless battery bullshit what are the charging requirements? How many amps per hour? What is the minimum and maximum?

  • PLEASE I want to use my s5 as universal remote to control home appliances but that is the only function that is not working and I don't know if the sensor is still workiing or if it is because I am on android version 6.0 as a friend that is using same phone the feature is working and his phone is on android version 4.4 Thank you

  • IT? could you elaborate?

  • HELLO Samsung Galaxy s5 users... Please I just get this phone onumber a friend as fairly used and I lover this phone but I notice my IT is not working and I amust on android 6.0.. could it be the cause ?? The other friend use s5 on 4.4 version and the IR is working fine What can I do please as I enjoy operating my television and sound system through my phone sensor... Urgent please. Thank you

  • Good choice maam..enjoy your new s5.

  • A friend lent me his S5. Love this phone, it's great. Owned 5 different Samsung models , Huawei, Sony & Nokia before but this one is the best . So I bought a new S5!

  • I have used S5 for almost 3 years it is duos/2 sims got it at Abu Dhabi and 4G I am so happy with video cam in 4k Now I also have Oppo F5 /32 with 20 mp for selfie both devices give me fast browsing but F5 is faster due to its 4gb ram which antutu benchmark more than 77000 and S5 only 60000

  • social media especially fishbook is consuming a lot of batt. try to minimize of using it

  • Why?

  • Try to clear data of Updater. And then prevent internet access to the updater, if there is an option to prevent.

  • There was an article about the S5 on Android Authority yesterday, quite a surprise. Here's a few excerpts: "The Samsung Galaxy S5 is a phone close to my heart. Android Authority is your cutting edge guide to the latest Android devices, but it doesn’t mean we can’t get a bit sentimental now and again." "I admit it’s strange, but I love this phone. There’s one dutifully sitting on the desk next to me right now. When the S8 came out, I stuck with the S5. When I had it stolen in South America, I sourced a new one in the next city. It’s the phone for me. Ok it’s not going to give you the mind-blowing levels of functionality that the new S9 can boast, but it still holds its own in most of the metrics." "What I love about the Galaxy S5 is that it is the last phone in the Samsung S range to have a removable battery. The Galaxy S6 relented to the Apple model and brought in a glass back, so you have to stand by and watch as your battery deteriorates. Not me. I haven’t used a phone charger for years. When the battery runs low I just replace it with a spare, which cost about $8 each. Straight away you’re back to 100%. Going out for the day? Pop a spare or two in your pocket. Enjoy a wry smile as your friends crouch in the corner of the bar next to a power outlet." They also include a link where you can buy it for less than $200 new (it was $664), and I guess they get a share from the sales, but it's still nice to see a well known website say something good about your old but awesome phone. :-)

  • This device should update to 7.0..shame on samsung to leave a great phone to updates..enough to s5..even buy s8 or s9..after 3 years samsung wouldn't update again..

  • You're so right this phone is rock solid, and fast with LOS

  • 2018. Started to lag. Researched LineageOS, and it's way better than new. Absolutely suggested make change to LineageOS. 14.1 Find your build. (klte my device)

  • 2018. Started to lag. Researched LineageOS, and it's way better than new. Absolutely suggested make change to LineageOS. 14.1 Find your build. (klte my device)

  • The best Samsung phone. better is S7 edge back in MARSHMALLOW. S8 or S9? I would prefer no to it. But I need that 2 because it's powerful but Not classic and fan lover is amazing and powerful in gross.

  • Using still 2014 August. No system updates, still 4.4 running. Battery life is amazing. Black screen is saving battery, Spigen back covers are perferct for this phone, external condition is in 8/10 after almost 4 years of using. I'm searching for new models but can't find anything compared to this in this price. Screen has no scretch and I'm not using screen protectors. Amazing!

  • How to root s5.

  • Don't Waste Ur Time On Galaxy S5...... 4G Vo LTE Compulsory Now...... Low Battery, No Themes, Old Software, Old Technic Fingerprint, Old Hardware, Can't Move Application To Memory Card..... Second Hand Galaxy J7 2016 Far Better Than This :)

  • Hi, like you i've had my phone (S5) for almost 3 years and i'm now on 'Android 6'. Didn't want to do the last update as 'Android 5' was fine. Now, since the last few months my phone says there's yet another update. No way am i ever going to do it but it's so annoying as i cannot get rid of the message in 'Settings'. This is a great phone and the only problem i have at present is that once in a while it cuts out. What i do is switch it off, wait 2 minutes and then start it up again. That seems to solve the problem for quite a while. Doubt if i'll buy another Samsung but they're so easy to use!

  • +1, usimg since 2015

  • This review is posting after using this device for 10 months and this is completely based on my experiences Pros. .Good rear camera .4k recording capability .Display viewing angle is excellent .Blacks are really good(Thanks to super amoled display) .HeartRate monitor is present .Has a lot of sensors in it .Many custom roms are available(Not recommended to use) .IP67 certification is present .FingerPrint scanner is present Cons. .Poor battery life .Poor front camera .Lacks 4g .Lacks dual sim .Plastic built .FingerPrint sensor is very average .Heating issues are present .Lacks OIS .Phone lags everytime Overall Opinion. Do not buy this phone in 2018+ because this phone was a flagship phone when it was released now it is becoming unusable in 2018. If you dont want any 4g or good front camera and the cons listed above is not a problem for you then go for it. I highly recommend you all to avoid this phone in 2018+. Note. I am giving this review after using this device for past 10 months and i listed every single problems and good things which i faced while using this phone THANK YOU FOR READING

  • can u provide step by step guide how to root and the link? Thnk

  • Fingerprint not working, heating issues, google voice search is not working in that rom

  • I rooted my s5 and uninstall all unwanted app. Its very fast. Also i tried s8 os also very good.

  • Dowload official firmware and install

  • Try to open it and clean the battery contacts. Also check to see that the battery hasn't swollen. Maybe there's an easy solution. Also try another charger and another cable.

  • my s5 stopped charging. it only charges when it is turn off. and it doesn[t display the percentage of battery being charge.

  • just google for it, there are solutions i just read about it, in fact I just read several articles an hour ago.

  • Leaving?

  • i am leaving in india, i am using S5 (G900A (AT&T), still my phone is running in kitkat 4.4.2, not updating to Marshmallow, can anyone help.

  • Ok cool, good for gaming?

  • Hater's gona hate.

  • Yes it is as I have just bought one today for a friend. The good thing about these older handsets (especially the S5) is they are cheap, has most of the features of modern phones (like a fingerprint reader) has USB 3 (like the Note 3) and you can connect it to a TV with an MHL cable. I paid £60 (US $83) for it and apart from a few scratches on the screen It's a 8 out of 10 for the rest of it.

  • Is it still worth getting? four yrs later or go for a newer Phone? Mainly use my phone for facebook, browsing and gaming-thanks

  • I rooted my S5 and now its running on cyanogenmod(marshmallow), very smooth. It did improve battery life a bit though. ;)

  • Old Samsung flagship were build to last. The new ones are fragile as glass.

  • Probably the best Phone Samsung ever made. You'll get a good two days use out of the battery, and it's the last phone they made that has a replaceable battery. Factory spares are less then 8 dollars on Amazon. Too easy... I've been in cell phones literally since they first came out in 82. My first smartphone was a Galaxy S-3 and I didn't like it. I couldn't text on it because it was too sensitive. This phone was the first to fix that. The S-5 is so impressive I replaced my entire family with them and even keep spares and have needed one. My wife dropped hers on concrete and cracked the screen. If you compare specs even to the new S-8, this phone is still running easily with it. Highly recommended.

  • I have a S5 its battery cant last long than 1hr I'm using the 4g data and im just browsing facebook with dim light. and it doesnt last long though I bought a spare battery but its still not enough

  • I had my S5 since May 2014. Not planing to get a new one any time soon, still running strong. Battery was changed about 6 months ago, it's not great, but there is a usb plug everywhere this days. Could anyone tell us what is the best version of Android for the S5? I run Lollipop (5.0)

  • Dont... Have had S5 some time aggo, battery couldnt last whole day and fingerprint scanner died on myne...

  • I have been using my S5 since October 2014 and it still works fine. Do S5 users recommend updating it from Kitkat to Lollipop? Is the Marshmallow update available already in the Philippines?

  • You've changed the battery 4 times? Do you mean purchased replacements? Well... I can be 99.9& sure they are NOT genuine batteries, only Samsung credited partners get genuine parts, like where I work for example. S5 and Note 4's have always had funny batteries, more noticeable in the Note 4 where below 40% the handset just turns off. Buy genuine or don't both at all. Its also very dangerous using fake batteries, lithium is nasty stuff.

  • It's called a PBA (printed board assembly) not motherboard :)

  • Guys i was thinking of buying an S5,

  • Try to update your s5 to its latest...or turn it off hardware overlays under developer option

  • I think it has nothing to do with the weather..here in my country we have cold and hot weather and my S5 works fine..anyway send your mobile to authorized service center let them check..hope your phone will be fix .

  • Hey guys i have noticed that my phone is flickring when i change britghness to low i dont know why this happen to my phone i have never crash him its look like new anyone fac the same propleme sorry for my bad english

  • I don't have the problem but I looked around, it seems that there's something wrong with Android Web Viewer's last update, so try to go to settings - apps - app manager - Android System WebView, and disable it. Or wait until Google releases an update for it, I guess. Hope this helps.

  • Could be, but then it would maybe be more expensive to repair than to buy another one. I have all the latest updates, but the first time I noticed it was when the winter came and I just came home with a cold phone. Before that, it would only flicker at really low brightness that I wasn't even using. For example, if it warms up the problem is not so big, so I assume it has something to do with the weather. Maybe I'm wrong, but we'll see when the winter goes away.

  • Try to update your S5 too..ive experienced that before and now its gone.. if nothing happens it has something to do with the LCD or motherboard

  • Lately I am receiving the following message when attempting to reply to an email. ie message "loading messages" The only then is to save the mail as a draft then go to drafts then send it this is sooo irritating please help!

  • Thanks, I tried it already. A lot of people report the same problem, I've seen conversations about it, and tried some advice, but nothing worked. So I'm just using higher brightness during the day and EyeFilter for the evening (similar to Flux, Screen Filter, Red Moon, Blue Light Filter, etc).

  • Under developer option go to hardware overlays and turn it off and the screen flickering might gone ..

  • I've taken my entire family of 4 phones to S5s since I left Sprint and went to T-Mobile. I chose these because the S6, (which was the phone at the time) had a permanent battery that couldn't be changed, and a wrap around screen that couldn't be protected. My wife's S5 is on it's third battery and they only cost 7 bucks factory at Amazon. She uses it for everything. Mine is still on it's first battery because I don't. They are great phones and the only "improvement" with the new phones is in the camera sections that the S5 already had. And a wrap around screen that nothing can protect. I have 4 of these running since the S6, all referbs, and we've only broken one. I keep two extras. The last one I bought was 123 bucks and preinstalled with Marshmallow. Nice.

  • Just turn on battery saving

  • Bought it end of April last year, still no problems. It was 2 years old but with a new battery. Only the screen flickers at very low brightness when it's cold, but I can live with that. Apart from that, it's as good as new. More than 130 apps inside, no problem. I just clean it sometimes and don't use heavy apps or battery-heating games, but I do use it a lot. I can't believe it's already 10 months.

  • I am using t mobile s5 I haven't received update for marshmallow yet I live in Sri Lanka

  • Mine does that, but I have had it for 3 or 4 years. I am going to by a new phone today.

  • I have been using Samsung S5 for almost 4 years but never had problem. my phone by accident fall around 7-8 times during this 4 years and nothing effect on the phone the function were good

  • No. You might have installed some battery consuming app

  • My s5 battery drains fast and heats up easily is everyone experiencin this?Is it normal?

  • s5 battery suck.... charge leg really suck I change x4 times still same problems repeat and repeat again...I give up this s5,1 things camera good other suck...I bought 1 and half years repaired x7 x8 times.... no quality Samsung I prefer Huawei p10 mate 10 or mate 10 pro ,Samsung and iPhone crazy prices

  • Many thanks.

  • Depends on how you use My s5 sot only 2-3 hrs because of internet & continues downloading & watching youtube videos etc. Otherwise max 4hrs or 4hrs 30min..

  • Hello all ! In normal use (LTE or Wifi permanently) - what is the average time of the battery - mine is about 6 hours. Is this normal ? Thanks.

  • S5 or lg k10 2017 brand new ? And why

  • in order to activate or get the VOLT on it you will need a custom ROM, and a custom KERNEL to go with it, you can look it up in the XDA FORUM for S5 ... its a bit advanced but you will be totally satisfied after even with the system option that is very similar to the S8 with nougat + you will get some battery life and the VOLT Option as well

  • U'll unable to do so

  • how can i unable volte in this phone?

  • Yes the front camera on the S5 is a let down, its 2Mp compared to primary camera which is 16MP. I'd suggest getting the A5 which is only slightly more, it has 16MP on both front and back.

  • Both Samsungs are wining with my comparisison, iPhone is out. For some reason the S5, for some reason the A5

  • actually you dnt realy have to wait for an oficial update from samsung, there is some very well made CUSTOM ROM such as "NEMESSIS ROM" with full nougat ROM and options .. do some research on it and beleive me you will satisfied dear friend ;)

  • yes completely agree

  • S5 or galaxy a5 2015 or iphone 5s and why ?

  • I wish that samsung will give a nougat update on samsung s5 because honestly speaking this is a good phone.

  • I flashed my old S5 with lineage OS (Android 7.1.2), threw a new battery in and it is like a new phone. Fast and responsive, the camera immediately takes a photo no matter the lighting conditions, the battery doesn't rapidly drain. I'm pretty sure Samsung deliberately sabotaged this phone with an update once the new ones came out. Also it is possible to unlock every LTE band on this phone once you have loaded a custom rom and rooted it.

  • agree

  • 1. Of course people will buy it second-hand, it's an old phone and not available as new any more. The phones you mention are 2-3 times more expensive. Pointless argument. 2. Call quality is great, no need for VOLTE. Also, you can talk for free using Skype, Messenger, etc, etc. Voice calls are a secondary function. 3. Themes? It's an old TouchWiz with 4 icons in a row, themes wouldn't make it better. Even if you change the theme, the icons stay - but I got Nova Launcher on sale and don't care about themes. Every icon and every element is the way I want it. 4. Dual SIM? Not many flagships have that, and I don't know anyone who uses that anyway. One phone bill is enough. 5. Battery life? 4-5 hours not enough? Do you live on your phone? If you need more, buy a computer. ;-)

  • Ha ha ha perfect comment. I like it.

  • then don' buy..who forcing u???

  • Galaxy S5 Main Problem Is Battery, No VO LTE, No Dual Sim N No New Themes ..... Even If U Replace New Battery U Will Get 4 or 5 hrs Battery Which Is Average..... Wasting Money On Galaxy S5 or Note 3 or Note 4 Is Nothing But Waste.... Only For Try Second Hand Is Good...... Better Buy New Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 or Nokia 6 U Will Satisfied :)

  • That's not a problem (with the phone). Just buy a new battery. It can't be simpler than that.

  • Most phones without a removable battery are no better than location tracking ankle bracelets as they handshake with every cell phone tower they pass. Occasionally, I prefer the peace of mind that having a removable battery provides.

  • Dude its a 4 year old phone and obviously battery degrades in a few years of usage........... Just replace a new one since S5's advantage is its easily replaceable battery.

  • Very good phone and features are very good. Camera quality is also too good and only one thing irritates me that is battery drain problem. its battery life is to short only use for 4 or 6-hour battery drain fully and its needed two times charging in a day.

  • Front camera is just bad :'(( plus it cant focus in the low light concentration 😑 other else just okay only the camera make me suck 🤐

  • I upgraded to Marshmallow 2yrs.ago until now no problem at all..maybe something wrong with your phone.

  • I got the Mashmallow update and its very bad! The screen has a bright light background now which you can't change! Guys, don't get this update!!!!

  • Don't ever buy Samsung, they have the worst Customer service, when you have a warranty issues, you have to wait and wait send email after email wait 24 to 72 HR for them to contact you. They never do and then you have to start all over. Get a different phone and Tablet because when they stop working after 3 months you have to wait 3 month more just to get it fixed thats if you get lucky.

  • if here VoLte works then why not its official pls update VoLte support pls pls pls

  • After Selling My Galaxy S5 I'm Taking My Breathe Easy.......... Phone Is Good If Ur Normal User... Because No Dual Sim, No Vo Lte, Battery Average, Can't Move Applications To Memory Card (Not A Problem), No Themes....... Now I Will Go For Galaxy J7 or Redmi Note 4 or Wait For Redmi 5 or Any New Mobile But Now Using My Old Lumia 640 Which Have Have Better Battery N Better Smothness, Easy To Use ....... I Will Again Say If U Only Want To Try Then Go For Galaxy S5 Second Hand With Less Money (Don't Go For New One) :)

  • Not supporting indian bands...

  • it does have lte connectivity. thats what i m using now

  • S5 SM G900F no 4g ?

  • And the fact. Samsung defaut browser is faster than chrome and operamini. Samsung brosr- 3180 ; chrome- 2235 ; opera- 2504. scores tests conducted..

  • Convert it to mp4.. using a video converter in your pc. And download video player on googleapp store.

  • I wish can update to nougat or much better oreo because s6 is available to nougat and oreo why s5 is not how sad s5 user me.. 😣😣

  • the selfie camera is not good also battery life was so bad

  • mine is still serving me well and i have always treated it well too. im not a heavy user thats why it still holding out. but no complaints and i'm never going to upgrade till i see a similar new one

  • Just retired my s5 today. It was a great phone but it's clearly dated it terms of style and functionality. The chrome bezels are about 50% worn off. Over the past 3 years, it's taken such a beating. 5/5 phone for it's time. 2GB ram is good for most stuff, but it does get bogged down. Can't play PokemonGo on it because the RAM is just not enough. Also can't use facebook messenger and google assistant at the same time.

  • yes this is still a very good and reliable phone. everything is stable and to me it's better than some newer models. even s6 after this model is very erratic and for me 2gb ram i'm ok

  • yeah but 2 ram is ok for me

  • I bought my S5 as an used one before two years, still it's working good. only problem I felt it have only 2GB ram otherwise perfect... This is a nice phone I ever used...

  • good luck with your S5 today. it's a good phone i agree and best is battery can be replaced. tje phone still functions well, camera is good and honestly appearance is as also nice. u make a right choice. enjoy yr phone today

  • Go for this.Because parts/accessories are cheap..enough.It's 1080p screen is awesome,very good camera,5.1 inch display,good battery.But hey watch Gsmarena's review.I'll buy mine today.Cheers.Sorry for my bad english.

  • Hi Friend, Thanks a lot. Will try to search one..

  • Hi there..you can change and buy the mid case as you mentioned the chrome peeled off ..try to visit this website www.lazada.com or shopee.com

  • 100% agree lol. I have this as well but I can't sell it because the colour on sides is peeled off, so I'll not get good resale value, after three years still all things are doing good though including battery. I think I'll just keep it until it'll get off itself.

  • Only if u want to try galaxy s5 then go for it otherwise go for new models....... I have purchased this phone 5 month ago but now going to sell in December or January because this phone is not dual sim, no Vo LTE, no future updates, battery average, no themes, etc... :)

  • yes take it this is a good phone better than some new phones

  • still confuse choosing new phone now, am i taking this galaxy s5 for a while after make good decision for new phone?

  • FACT

  • saw that, its encouraging

  • Dear change your usb charger cable and if charger cable is fit in charger than you change your charger....it is the issue of charger...i face this problem many times and when i change my charging cable its start charging

  • Is anyone else watching Mr Robot? Elliot is using a Galaxy S5 in this week's episode.

  • Pls I need help. My s5 is not being charged. when I plugged it to the electric outlet the icon of the battery appears on the screen but does not take charge.

  • A friend lent me his old phone. It s a great phone..expensive but you get what you pay for. Stay with Samsung

  • Best phone for me.FullHD display, water, dust res, great camera. And it is cheap enough Second Hand about 100-120 EURO in great shape fullbox

  • Should I get this or the Sony Xperia Z2?

  • Good and wise choice. smart decision. U will never go wrong with this phone

  • i used s5 in 2015 and decided to left and follow the new smartphones of galaxy but no one of them satisfied like s5 that is why im returning to s5

  • You are using Note 5 also, right?

  • Have used samsung s2 s3 s4*Gti 9506) s5, s6 and s7 Till now htis S5 is trustworthy reliable and still the best. The s7 is good but will be outdated soon. Yes s5 is few years old but till now still fast smooth reliable battery can remove so sticking to s5 still. The Conqueror of all

  • Purchased Galaxy S5 G900F Second Hand @5k (78$)...... Phone Is Awesome But Single Sim....... In Marshmallow Battery Standing Time Great ........ If U Want To Try Galaxy S5 Then Go For It..... Removable Battery, LED Notification Light, Micro USB 3.0 For Faster Transfer Files, Amoled Display, Awesome Camera, Finger Print, Heart Rate Sensor, Looks N Feel In Hand 10/10, Water Resistant, Etc Etc..... Don't Compare This Awesome Phone With Chinese Please :)

  • U th man

  • Truly a beast till today. Cannot fault the S5. Still the best. Of course there are newer flagship models and new OS but this one is reliable and awesome. Have used Sony z3 htc one m8 s6 s7 iphone 6 & 6s all are very good phones and personally I feel they are more reliable and steady. Samsung S5 if well takne care of can last another few years same with the other brands

  • u luck if u are no update u phone. Android 6 is security Android system.

  • No, the last one is 6.0.1 and some security patches.

  • I only have one question: does the european version of this phone receive an official update to android 7? Thanks

  • Sold this few days ago and bought Mi Max 2. Goodbye S5, you served me well for 2 years.

  • To EUGEN12: I'm using the Exynos version. G900H. Still yet to receive the update.

  • battery problem?

  • Used my S5 for just over a year and then it wouldn't turn on anymore. I hope Samsung has improved their flagships quite a bit since then.

  • I've never had the disappearing photo issue (knocks on wood) but you just need a regular MicroUSB cable, they are available everywhere and shouldn't cost more than 5 Euro. I've been using the same cable for my last 3 phones. Don't worry about the weird MicroUSB 3.0 dual-plug at the bottom of the phone, if you don't have that kind of cable you can simply use the part on the right side for the regular MicroUSB.

  • TO ORIGINAL JAMAICAN Im using snapdragon 801 sm -g900f version..how about this one? And you are using what version?

  • Older phone user...have liked my Galaxy S5 but have had photos disappearing (apparently common enough). Transferred photos to albums then went back to Gallery to move remainder and that had disappeared. Would appreciate any advice and also what lead/connector is required to link the phone to a computer to back up my data. thanks in advance.

  • @Zoya Mine was doing the same thing, I changed the network from 4G LTE to 3G and it's working fine

  • S5 can shoot 3840×2160 (4k) resolution and this is highest one my friend. And it really gets hot when shooting 4k, we need to cool down the device to continue shooting. But the resolution 7680x4320 is way to high, hope you get the solution and let us know.

  • This topic for discussion and solutions and not to laugh by the way what you need to shoot the video camera samsung s5 with this resolution on the small screen

  • To EUGEN12: No my friend I'm yet to receive it. What version of the S5 do you have Eynos (G900H) or Snapdragon (G900F etc,) ?

  • Obviously it said can only upgrade to 6.0

  • I had the same thing happen. I'd be ON THE PHONE, talking to someone already on a call, and it would randomly start ringing another call altogether. I never ever used Samsung Voice stuff. I didn't allow it access to anything but I didn't disable it. It is a REALLY good phone all things considered and I still love it but I am now on iPhone. In many ways I love the iPhone more, and in many ways I love the S5 more, but I'm happy with the 8 Plus. My S5 battery lasts really well if I don't use the phone (i.e. standby only) and have little or no services on (i.e. bluetooth, wifi, etc). If I turn on GPS it seems to chew through the battery. It charges fast and I really have no complaints with the phone itself. My complaints are more with Android operating system and Google. Android gives you lots of customization at the expense of cleaner functioning and possibly also your personal information. Google is interested in keeping you safe and secure from others but are they as interested in keeping you safe from them? Anyway, I have an iPhone now and I had the same sort of call issue. That's really all I wanted to say is I'm glad I'm not the only one who had the calling issue. The fingerprint scanner is also lousy on the S5.

  • yea

  • Lol you have 1080*1920 and you want to play video as big as such resolution on the same phone? Funny you gat to get yourself a big plasma TV

  • Shouldn't be. Probably you may have to reset. Honestly its is a damn good phone. No complains t all and best of ll battery is removable. I have a S6 and had the battery changed but the repair shop butchered my phone and there was glue all over on the back and also little bit on front screen. I also seen few cases like mine, from nice phone to ugly phone. Unless you bring to real good repair shop they make a blunder.

  • there is no network after updating my S5 to Android 6.1

  • But why u want this high resolution on tiny screen oh God!

  • To ORIGINAL JAMAICAN DId you already receive the security patch update for august 2017?

  • My computer is older (lenovo thinkcentre m57) and yet supports of this resolution of the video. vlc can't play on samsung s5 media player classic play this resolution on my computer

  • Did you try to open it with VLC? It could be anything, unsupported codec, bitrate etc. Or it's just too high resolution.

  • My computer support site Find my computer screen card less than the Samsung S5 screen card

  • please I need help on how to bundle with my s5, it's being my headache since I bought the phone

  • Don't be silly, that high resolution is even too high for most computers

  • why can't play video resolution 7680x4320 on my samsung s5 g900f

  • To Kyng Jeo: The ONLY S5 variant that doesn't support 4G is the G900H but the plus side to the G900H is that it's the ONLY version with a Octa-Core CPU while the others (G900F etc.) is quad-core. You win some you lose some.

  • Does the s5 neo come with fingerprint scanner

  • Does ot upgrade version come with samsung themes or does it already come on the device?

  • Yes of course it support 4G

  • Does the phone support 4G? Because i would love to buy it soon

  • I did a little research and it could be a number of things... People are guessing that it could be caused by using incompatible bluetooth headsets, someone with a pacemaker (!) or maybe a voice command. One suggestion would be to turn off all the Samsung options, probably start with S Voice, and see if it helps...

  • yes problem with user not phone. never heard of such thing

  • My first Samsung S5 worked great, but then it began making calls randomly. I did a factory reset, but it did not fix the problem so I purchased another S5. Now the same thing is happening, random phone calls. No more Samsung phones for me. I welcome any helpful comments from anyone out there. Yes, it has been dropped but my otterbox defender is supposedly protective. I do not know the answer. Please send suggestions to [email protected]. Thank you. Is the problem wit the User?

  • Av jst bought it but it too amazingly fast phone i have ever met.

  • Yes the best phone of all time....S5 still beat alot of new flagship phones hands down

  • It's the best mobile browser period. Of course with AdBlock Plus for Samsung Browser, I'm blocking ads, trackers and malware domains, and it loads some pages 2-3 times faster than any other. Also I installed the Beta version, a few more options and just as reliable so that's what I use. It plays 360 degree videos on Facebook too. Tried many other browsers but some are sending analytics data (Opera, Dolphin) which I discovered with AdGuard so I don't trust them, and some are just too hard to use, especially with one hand. I also have Firefox Focus for quick downloads and erasing data afterwards, and Via browser because it's really nicely done, but Samsung Browser is my main one.

  • Undoubtedly the best and fastest phone I have ever had. Even after nearly three years of use, the battery is still chugging along nicely. I'm not getting the 5-6 hours of On Screen Time (OST) like I use to get when I just got the phone but I can easily get a few hours just the same, sometimes 2 1/2 hours sometimes more than 3 hours. The proprietary Samsung browser uses very little power. I'm constantly impressed at how it barely uses any power...over Wi-Fi while on Facebook, it takes 5 minutes - 7 minutes before it loses a percent. I was shocked the other day when it took 12 minutes at one point before a percent was depleted while browsing around on Facebook. Visiting other websites using the Samsung browser generally yields the same results. If I should conduct a test using the built-in Samsung browser ONLY after fully charging my battery it would be interesting to see how much OST I would get. I'm sure at least 4 hours if not more. Even internet telephony doesn't consume a whole lot. For instance, a one hour Whatsapp call generally consumes 10% of battery power, sometimes 12% and sometimes 13%. Of course it all depends on what is happening in the background while you are on a call. The Samsung browser is just amazing and the Galaxy S5 is totally amazing. I see no reason to upgrade (or downgrade) as I still consider it the best smartphone to date.

  • I have my samsung s5 for 3 years ago I have this phone yet It's battery timing too good It's camera too good It's fingerprint too fast

  • Normal

  • not bad.haha

  • if you can remove the panel.brush with alcohol spirit and heat with 60 to 200 watts of electric bulb.problem solved

  • From Ethiopia. My S5 has problem begining from purchase, the screen do not light but when it exposed to excessive heat, it will light and function properly until power key has in touch.

  • Okay I've checked sammobile. And it's weird. Only the firmware from Philippines are stucked on Android 5.0. It is still receiving updates though. I feel sorry for my sister. Haha

  • my s5 is very heat when i use some app.olx, uc browser,youtube etc..pleas any suggestions ....

  • Clone phones, copy phones the design, bottons, touch,skins... etc.Thats why orgnal phones are expensive because in the inside, there is the secrets. And clones are cheap bcause if they copy all of it, its d same price as d original. Orgnal phones have lots of sensors. S5 has 17

  • Ten now check>settings > about device > android version.. if its 6.0.1 now ur in marshmallow

  • But u can manually update it.. go in the settings> about device>download updates manually..

  • Try this 1. know first ur bootloader or ID using CPU X.afk you download ds in googleapp store. Then download Odin.exe and install it on PC. after you know d firmware or ID, Bootloader. search it _ex.G900SKSU1CPL5 firmware free download.. then dowload it. The file was in zip or .md5.. (remember: every s5 model have diffrent firmware; know urs using cpu x or any cpu reader app. If u download wrong firmware. Thats ur another problem u need to solve) search: how to flash and restore galaxy s5.. then select websites u like and follow steps.. if the firmware is in zip, extract it in a folder u will remember. Follow steps to flash it. Hope im correct.. in my experience.

  • No, if you update using odin, It'll not trigger knox don't have to worry

  • I was having the same issue I think you buy a phone from other country than where you use the phone . I ve done the update manually using Samsung odin . Download the official software from Sam mobile and upgrade using odin . But remember that the knox flag will set .

  • Guys? Can you update to marshmallow? I really wonder why my sister's S5 is stucked at lollipop. She only receives security patches. But no marshmallow upgrade.

  • It's available in India but not sure for south africa my friend

  • south africa

  • Which country you belongs to?

  • If you can find one for a good price or in a good condition, yes. I was looking and I still can't find a better new (not even Chinese) phone for my money, and this was not a budget phone when it was released. It was a flagship, and everything works on it, no unpleasant surprises (my relative bought a Chinese phone for more money, with 3GB, but compass didn't work, things like that.). If 2 GB of RAM is enough for your needs, I recommend the phone. The only downside is that it's going to stay on Marshmallow but if you don't do risky things you'll be fine. One of my nephews got an old S5 from his dad, the phone is completely scratched and beaten and still works, I couldn't recognize it until the kid told me what phone it was.

  • should i buy this smartphone ? anyone ?

  • To MUDIDANCE: I share the same sentiments. I have my S5 since October 17, 2014 and it's still perfect. The battery is also keeping it's charge nicely. I too said if my S5 should ever part ways with me I would simply get a next one. The newer phones don't impress me. The S5 is indeed Samsung's very best phone to date and probably will be Samsung's best phone of all time.

  • Its php

  • where can i buy a brand new samsung s5

  • Which color do you like white/black/blue/gold? Please reply

  • Is this phone still hoof to use in 2017? Or is it outdated? Honest opinion please. thanks

  • lol :D

  • I've been using S5 since June 2014. My opinion is it's the best phone Samsung has ever created! My battery is still perfect, no hanging, network and browsing excellent and i always enjoy the infrared remote. If my S5 ever gets lost (God forbid), i will just go for another S5! Thanks Samsung.

  • sir, my s5 is not working properly i bought this only one year before but now my desktop is blinging and only the opening screen is showing and i consult one service center they said that may be because of total loss, if i want to repair that one it will be too costlier is it possible to give a solution

  • Dont wait to charge it to 100% it damages ur battery. The best way is to charge it when higher or lower rto 20%. Then remove the charger when it reached 89%, 97%. Over charging is real. Or 70%. Also good..

  • Its still good.. the big prob. Is if you bricked it. Accidentally

  • Charge it when its 20% less or more. Remove it from charge qhen its 89%-97% or 98%. Over charging is real men. It damages ur battery. Also when it drains to 0%. Observe it first.. when its always drain fast.. ex. In a week. Everday. Then change it.

  • But we need to support it. To show the truth.. for samsung to know whats best or good. So that they know.. so that they may create the phone what people want. Hope in the future. So that they know its one of the best.

  • If its korean like g900s its lte.. g900f is 4g. Then lte is faster than 4g. And in my experience using lte.. even inside ur room and have a signal- stable or good signal. In 4g inside ur room lagy or no signal. Lte when outside better signal. Sorry nose bleed

  • Its normal.. the phone uses his ram and it uses huge hz.. and it needs more power. So it heats.. and u wxperience fast battery drain. u check the clock speed of ur phone.s5 is 2.4hz with 4 cores. It means its fast.. thats why its good in playing games.. and surfing.. My suggestion.. when it heats remove the jelly case or any case that u buy.. because it isolate the heat. And electronic devices is sensitive to heat. Then put it again when it cools. Specialy when charging.. remove the jelly case. Then put again when finished charging.

  • Thats peso bro.. php ; please when posting or cmmentng post the currency if its about money...

  • Why are you quetion/answer to yourself man?

  • I think you must have bought fakes or clones. Firstly who will touch the right side of screen when they turn on their phone. U r the exceptional one. Yr 2nd phone has ram issues? Then u should have brought it back to samsung. 3rd phone? I guess it's just you are unlucky. I sympathize with u. So sorry to hear about yr encounter with the weird kind. In all honesty why u posting here?U should have make use of yr time to complain to samsung....or is smasung? LOL

  • seriously? awww don't bull

  • I've had 3, yes 3, separate Galaxy S5 phones. Each one was horrid in its own way. The first one I thought was just bad luck, as it overheated on the right side of the screen within seconds of the screen being on. But no, each one had the issue, but with more issues with each different one. The second one had RAM issues (or faulty mobo? Either way, it made it unusable) The third one (which is the one I have right now, I use it as a spare between phones.) overheats, the battery lasts AT MAX 3 hours, and the LCD is finally giving way. I will NEVER buy another one of these, and I would recommend them as such.

  • To COLT45ZZ: You clearly have a fake S5, a bad model or you are lying. It's one out of the three. Next month will make it THREE YEARS since I have had my S5 and I haven't experienced any of the problems you mentioned. The S5 is easily the best smartphone to date!

  • This phone is absolute crap. As soon as it was a year old everything on this stupid phone went to hell. The phone gets hot enough to burn me when it's just sitting somewhere, any of my apps will randomly close themselves while I'm using them, the screen is burnt and you can see where I have had texts and such as if I leave it lit up all the time (which btw, their TVs and Samsung Note 7 do the exact same thing) Samsung, just stop. Never again will I pay more money for a phone than I could have for an iphone. AND I DON'T EVEN LIKE APPLE! (I dislike apple company very much for how much they rape people's wallets) I paid $135 for this phone and the S6 had already been out for a hot minute. I could have bought an iPhone 5 for $120 and that's after taxes. Ridiculous! Do not waste your money on this phone or you will be disappointed.

  • 13,000 what? Dollars?

  • yez,me too.waiting for newest samsung phone with removable battery.I hope after note 8.samsung will come up with removable battery again

  • Please suggest me best mobiles having dual sim, much internal memory, good battery timing, best camera. I have limited money 13,000. Which used mobile should i go for? Serious suggestion needed

  • Don't go saying that is Straight Talk fault if you don´t know how to use your phone.

  • Well. Tough decision.. if u can handle big screen and your hands are big enough or need spen - note 4 is best else s5. Note 4 has good design BTW

  • S5

  • I think u have to buy a new battery

  • s5 and note4 which one is d best because I will like to pick one of this. I need an advance please

  • heating problem is found when mobile data and using wifi , and more heating problem can be obtained when using games

  • no 4g for 900h

  • How to enable 4g in this model no. SM G 900H

  • Why support stops from Samsung can be given attention to its customers. The phone is still required and there are sales of it if the support stops

  • how can i use lte 4g on s5 sm g900h

  • bro my battery draing to fast eny soluthion ?

  • pls update it to support Volet

  • We're on the front page, new security patch incoming! Did anyone get it already?

  • Nougat Update, I was about to buy S8 plus but due to lack of services from Samsung, seriously thinking about it, why no updates for S5, to Nougat, as a flagship we invested money and its our decision to give it family , why no updates

  • Purchased Samsung Galaxy S5" mobile phone in December 2016, but it stopped functioning in 6 months. Phone is under warranty. Reported technical issue ( charging problem, device not functioning properly) to service center. But they did not meet obligation. Company is not supporting 1 year warranty. It is a bad product which no one should buy. It is a sunk investment in a pathetic product.

  • Get galaxy s5 , dont go for chinese brands..

  • buy s5 raymah

  • Please between fairly used galaxy S5 and new Xiaomi redmi note4x which should I buy? They fall into my budget. Thank you

  • You got it right...#LingLiveS5

  • Yes, but "non removable" battery trend is in question here. You are right we can put this on charge when we wake up. But in simple words we don't need the removable battery feature just to have a separate battery all the time with us but we need this to easily replace it by removing back cover when the old battery degrades over time. And that's why the latest and greatest phones can't beat our S5 in terms of features. The trend is going in wrong way, maybe good for rich but not for us general people!

  • Oh yeah..

  • Samsung S5. You can't beat removable batteries. Love them! Great when out and about and you have a spare one in your wallet to keep powered on. That's why I will never upgrade to S6 S7 or S8 UNTIL YOU CAN HAVE A REMOVABLE BATTERY! Are you listening Samsung ya mugs! LG V20 next for me aha!

  • 1. Your Device Status Will Be CUSTOM 2. Your Knox Code Is Tripped (0x1) Bad News Is There's No Turning Back Here. You Will Void Your Warranty & All Knox Security Feature. Currently, It's Impossible To Reset Those Flags.

  • Do you know that non-removable battery and battery with low life do have reasons. That is in cooperation with power bank manufacturer to have business. I do not like and buy power bank. Rather i charge to as much as possible before going out. Once wake up and check if low as below 50% then put to charger to charge. As most battery may drop as it is not wise to charge at night, as if forgotten to remove the charger before sleep, then beware of the consequences of phone & battery issues.

  • There is no need to wait for green light as long as it is near or reached 100% then better to remove the charger as it may wear the battery faster. Usually i will charge when below 50% or when i wake up and preparing to go out. In this way, there is no need to use power bank as charging & using at the same time may not good for phone as heat will build up faster. Even it is not yet 100% i still will remove the charger and go out. The charging to 100% is the bad myth, as phone do not wish to charge in this way. When the charging reach 99% it could take 1 hour or more to reach 100%. It was reported, as i had read, that this is to avoid putting the phone charging too fast as in over-charged. As in this way, it drag the charging time for you to remove the charger to avoid over-charged which may not suitable to both battery and phone. Hence it is not in reality to actually charged to exact 100% and wait for the green light. As we are not driving car which have to wait for green light to tell you it is safe to move. That is why sometimes we may forgotten about the phone is completed charging. It is not like in olden days where battery have to be dry before charge and have to charge to the max 100% before remove from the charger. So long as you are not using the phone and battery is less, say, 50% then proceed to charge the phone and leave it until fully charged. BUT do not charge overnight and ensure the power supply do have surge protection to avoid being burnt.

  • Fellow Singaporean, just go and get Samsung S5 as suitable for local use with 4G LTE. Just bought mine $200 today as a good bargain. It is rooted to LineageOS on Android 7.1.2 as no bloatware whatsoever.

  • It Is Normal. (Wait 3-5mins To Turn Led Into Green Notification) Suggest To Charge (90-95%) Everytime To Preserve Battery Life. Alt. Way = Changing Batteries Might Fix The Issues.

  • Me too when i charge my S5 it show red on the notification led light but after fully charge it show 100 per cent but don't turn green even after leaving it on charger for another one hour. And sometime it turn green when it reach 100 er cent. Without leaving it on charger for even another 5 minutes. Is this normal?

  • Can i check why my battery after fully charged sometimes it doesn't turn green on the light and sometimes does turn green . thanks

  • The galaxy s5 from straighttalk sucks don't come with 4G trouble with texting, always have to click WiFi off then back onto send texts. And this was what I got when I sent my s4 in under warranty. Never again

  • Yes we can't accept the odd trend of non removable battery just for the greedy brands

  • Graphics is not very high, high-end games will not run smooth. Also, It will become slow after (heavy) use for about one year, simply backup and reset to default. IR, wireless signals is good, waterproof, solid and it just feels almost premium. Get this boy with 2 spare batteries, 64GB SD Card and you all set for a long period of time. Anything happens simply Google it and Boom tens of solution results.

  • Great phone. wish that the s series after s5 was also with removable battery

  • yes, this is the last removable battery high end phone of samsung. w/ micro sd. fast.. but in much 3d games or w/ higher ram needed to open the game.. it crashed. ex. in social app. whn searchng or scrolling feeds. and in some higher mb games.. the prob. is the 2gb ram cze now 3gb or 4gb in lttest phnes. but its fast in gming popular gmes like hungry shark. yes, it heats up when playing hd games as it uses more ram and memory.. specially when using wifi or online gmes. 1yr. of mine.. still gud. but experiencing battery drains fast when plying gmes

  • Just close your eyes and go with the S5. You won't regret it. It's durable and it just works, works and keeps on working. It's a masterpiece and still the best of the best in my view.

  • Good day Sir....fellow Singaporean. Most appropriate to ask you as I am getting a 2nd hand phone. I don't know which to buy some say Sony Xperia Z3 some say Samsung S5, and even recommend S6 and S7. i am tight budget and so far i see LG G3 is affordable. Can you suggest? Of cause I will not hold you responsible. My budget I have option to go for Samsung S4 or smasung 5 sony Z3 or LG G3

  • Hi guys. Good day to all. Still holding on to my Sam. Galaxy S5 local Singapore Telco set. Just got an upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow nearly 2 months ago. Everything is running smooth. No complaint and no negative feedback with the new Android 6.0, this is still the "Killer Beast" of Samsung phones. Best phone ever

  • S5 I Used For Gaming. As For S6 I Used It For App (Due To Lack Of SD, Lucky Still Have 64GB/128GB Variant, Otherwise 32GB Is Too Low For Me In My Opinion! As For Camera Of Cos S6 Perform Better! Likewise S5 Is Also Great At The Same Time With Same Rear Cam As S6. Anything Below S3 (Low-Mid Phone) Is Low End Phone..........

  • Can u tell me is this S5 or iphone 5s better which one u recommend as confuse thanks

  • i bought s5 at&t SM-G900A in pakistan .its on lolipop 5.0.1 ,does any one know it will upgrade or not to 6.0.1 marshmallow

  • Need honest advice and opinion. Should o get this or the sony xperia z3 or z3 compact. Or how bout samsung S6? What are other S model u have and which is the best? Thanks so much

  • Absolutely. For A 3 Years Device With Most Feature Is Impressive & This Beast Still Running Fast, One Of My Favourite Out Of My Four Galaxy Device!

  • To GS5 (2014): I still consider it a flagship. Notice most phones still don't have a heart rate scanner sensor. It was exclusive to the S5 and now being carried along with later S and Note releases.

  • Galaxy S5 Is A Mid-Range Beast!

  • No update yet for marshmallow to nougat thats usually happened when you root your phone dude so accept the consequences...

  • Here it says Available, but in the most shops(online) they do not sell it anymore.

  • I love how I can set the animations to be 2X faster or turn them off.

  • To JADEN22X: It is an awesome and very smart phone. Tell me about your experience with it once you have started using it enough.

  • From where u bought it?

  • My opinion is that S5 is too slow as far as continuously use 1 hour, so i don't give idea to any one to get samsung S5

  • In your opinion should i get the sony experia z3 instead or still buy the s5

  • S5 been using it for a year then I switch to S7 edge and I say more improvement and stability in S7. Now my wife using the S5, it was bought last 2014, the problem is the battery is draining fast so i cleared the cache and restore in original factory setting and update the built in installed apps ONLY! still draining fast. So I bought a new Battery which is 100% original and manufactured dated 2016 of November 2. Slight change happened, I can say only 30% improvement. What I suspected is the update from Marshmallow to Nougat. anyways in lollipop times no issue in the battery... And now, the screen has visible burn in. i can see shadow of the keys in messaging. Oh my...

  • galaxy s5 has a camera and display, the z3 has a better feel, trust me the s5 is way better I had them both and I prefer the s5, my z3's glass back used to break by itself i swear and it bent for me when i had it in my tight jean

  • I'm getting it today :) looks like a awesome phone

  • Sorry I don't have any s5! Just want to buy it :) but many of them on the internet are used

  • Still On Original Firmware (Marshmallow), Smooth & Flawless With The Benchmark Reaching (60k+) Qualcomm Snapdragon Chip, Even Today (3 Years Later!) This Device Running High End Games Is Like A Speed Of A Cheetah!

  • Confused?Buy Huawei P10,P9,P9 Lite,Honor.

  • How is it compared to sony z3? Been told by many sony z3 is better but i mixed up now.

  • By far one of the best phones ever, still have it rooted and running as fast, no issues what so ever

  • What's wrong with your current S5 why you want to buy a new one?

  • I totally agree , I wish I could buy a new one s5 . I guess it's too late now, and I really don't like the new phones

  • The S5 is by far the best phone I have ever used. Don't think twice, don't even contemplate, just close your eyes and buy it.

  • Wipe Cache & Try Again. If Unable Change New Battery.

  • Battery issue

  • please I am using s5, my screen will be blinking anything the screen is active.Any help?

  • If you want a more lasting phone and you buy a used one without warranty, consider the battery. Flagships are usually high quality but the only weak spot is the battery, it can deteriorate or bloat after a while, you never know. On the S5 you just get a new one and replace it yourself, for the Sony you need special tools to open it. That's one of the reasons I got the S5. The previous owner bought a new battery in the beginning of this year and the phone is as good as new.

  • Thanks. I dont need camera just want a relaible phone whith no serious lag and more lasting

  • You can see here more information. It depends on what are your needs. Z3 have better camera specs and s5 have fingerprint , and heart rate

  • Nah!

  • Xpera z3 is definitely better this s5 is crap don't buy only buy sony Z3

  • thanks for reply i plan to buy from friend in good condition he has xperia z3 and s5 but i don;t know which one to buy. some say z3 better some say s% better. Can u please tell me why u recommend s5? Need help. thanks

  • i think s5, but where you will buy from?

  • Can u tell me is this S5 or xperia z3 better which one u recommend as confuse thanks

  • Nougat goodness!

  • It's written at the 7th and 8th line of the description of the phone which you obviously visited. One of the rules of posting is "Read before you post. Search before you post." - IP67 certified - dust and water resistant - Water resistant up to 1 meter and 30 minutes

  • Can anyone let know abt the water resist or water proof samsung s5 plz tell me urgent

  • Nougatless But Still Great In The Bite Of Marshmallow More Sweet & Tasty!

  • Hullo i also agree that becuz this samsung is a beast and best. I no selling my anyway nd want to keep it. still serf me very well and the powerful

  • YES!!!! Can't agree more. One of the BEST!!!! If not the Best. Mine is still working great and fast. Battery still good and honestly it's looks and appearance are still great as compared to the newer models. Does not look outdated

  • Old Device But Still Standing Great!

  • NO

  • I have my Samsung galaxy s5 for 3 years now. and I am proud to say that it still working great up to this day and I am still using the original battery of this phone. this phone was being dropped for a countless of time but hurray! it still alive and kicking... I am satisfied with its service... no regrets at all

  • Mine Too then it will start to laggg

  • Is this compatible with 4G as I am not getting 4g internet and offers.

  • From where did you bought the phone? I want to buy but I can't find it anywhere this year

  • My S5 gets warm or hot when I play some HD games, but I know people who play the same games on other phones and their phones get hot too. Nothing to do about it. But it shouldn't get hot while browsing the internet. I'm mostly using the default Samsung browser with the "AdBlock Plus for Samsung Browser" add-on and it doesn't get hot or drain the battery, the same with Opera (I don't use Chrome, doesn't block ads). Battery life is excellent unless I play HD games, I usually can't empty the battery in one day. Maybe you should try the built-in Smart Manager widget, and sometimes click on "clean all" - that would stop some processes you don't need...

  • I bought this just one month ago. But my phone becomes very hot using Internet .even playig game it also very hot. I m Not satisfied. I Update latest version 6. Battery also drain fast. Any solution.......... pls help

  • To katanadvo: It's ok I will stick to the original firmware releases.

  • To orig Jamaican: Still marshmallow OS but if you want a nougat just root your phone..there is an instruction in youtube on how to upgrade your s5 to nougat version.

  • Top rear camera 16 Mp

  • To katanadvo: Which software/OS would I end up with Marshmallow same way or Nougat?

  • To Orig Jamaican Try to flash your software via odin and get the latest security patch level just go to sammobile.com

  • do you know any online shops?

  • still on sale in Turkey

  • In which Countries/shops still sell the european model g900f?

  • I guess the S5 has stopped receiving monthly security updates. My last update was for the month of April.

  • I completely agree with you this person LIAR!!!!!! Giving false information

  • I don't want to give up mine either.

  • To IAN: Either you have a fake S5, your used version is in badly need of optimisation and a new battery or you are simply a liar. It has to be one of the three. My S5 is not far from being three years old and it runs perfectly. I'm still using the original battery that came with it. The battery backup is good seeing that it's basically now two year and nine months old...yet I am able to get 2hrs. 30mins. screen time on 50% power with the possibility of getting 5 hours on a full charge. If you need to learn how to get the most out of your battery then search some of my previous posts about battery optimisation. My S5 is running Marhmallow, it's still fast and the battery is in fair condition. I use to be able to eaily get two days on fairly heavy usage. These days I only get a few hours or a day so I have to charge daily based on my usage habits. Either way it's still the best flagship I have seen to date. At the end of the day to each their own, I have no problems with mine.

  • Agree best of the best and i m still using today not giving up

  • Same here as to not buy a samsung ever again. This S5 is practically rubbish and a rip off. Because of my 1.5 yrs old S6 screwing the motherboard for the 2nd time i needed to go back to this previously used S5. Battery drains faster than a Range Rover petrol tank and lags so so badly. Storage is not storage space at all. On top of that cost of new Samsung and repair is so expensive. Do not support such cheating products.

  • Probably the best phone i have ever had...

  • Where I can buy this phone? The local stores are out of stock and will not bring again.

  • Thanks again

  • I think so. Some people don't even charge their phones above 90 percent because they think it damages the battery, but I'm not an expert.

  • Thanks for feedback i guess it's normal then

  • Similar behavior here, it goes from 100 to 90 faster than from 80 to 70 or from 70 to 60, and my battery was bought this year. It's normal. At the end of the day I still have 30-50 percent, depending on how much I do heavy stuff.

  • Cam i ask does the battery percentage drop after fully charge even you dont use it. Mine drops to 90% after about 2 to 3hours then again drop by 10 per cent in about another 2 to 3hours but after that it stays quite strong at 80% my battery is orifinal as bouthgt from Samsug outlet itself and is about 8months old. Thanks

  • To what he/she said about battery life, I will repeat this once more...most times on a fully charged battery I am able to get 2 hours 30 minutes of on screen time with 50% battery life remaining which theoretically means it's possible to get 5 hours on screen time on a full charge, give and take, which is amazing seeing that my battery will be 3 years old come October 17th.

  • agree with you this person just slandering the S% and like what you said it's fake unit or maybe dont even have

  • never had such problems with my S5 and i also know alot of people with s5 they never face such problems first time hearing yr such problem maybe your one is fake

  • To FLORIN: That's your experience. There are many fake S5 out there are you sure yours is genuine unit?

  • After 2 years with this phone I will never buy a Samsung again. It freezes constantly, Facebook feels very sluggish and even unlocking is slow. Battery life is nothing to brag about either. Goodbye Sammy

  • thanks for the info...perhaps if u can get yr hands on a z3 maybe u can determine better. as in ringtone and notifications sounds

  • Based on GSMArena's test the S5 is louder than the Z3. S5 - Voice 70.5dB / Noise 66.6dB / Ring 78dB (since Lollipop update) Z3 - Voice 69dB / Noise 66dB / Ring 67dB Personally, every Z series I have heard in the past were low...though I haven't heard the Z3 personally so I will take GSMArena's words for it

  • Yeah but the samsung S% looks damn good too and more fluid and stable. the wifif connection is also good and battery last long too. ring tone i agree may lose out to zepria z3 as z3 louder. both phones hard fight but i still prefer S5 easier to hold as well

  • To MY COOL GUY: I agree with you. I have preached your very words over and over again. It may just be the very best smartphone of all time. I keep finding out new stuff which makes it even more fun and makes it feel like new all over again and again. Battery is amazing. I have mine since 2014 and never changed the battery yet the battery can easily last me for an entire day even with fairly heavy use in the camera and camcorder department. Most times on a fully charged battery I am able to get 2 hours 30 minutes of on screen time with 50% battery life remaining which theoretically means it's possible to get 5 hours on screen time on a full charge, give and take, which is amazing seeing that my battery will be 3 years old come October 17th. The S5 motto is 'My life Powered By My S5' and that statement is so true as it's good for work or play and will handle anything you throw at it and keep going on and on and on.

  • as for me i think the Z3 beats the S5 in the followings:- 1) look and build quality 2) Battery last longer and brighter screen 3) The ringtone and sound is louder. What about you?

  • Thank you for your opinion. I too feel the same. May i ask why u choose the S5 over Z3 just to share and see if we have the same views? Thanks

  • Yeah good point man. The Z3 is close to it and is quality but if I had the choice I would still choose the S5.

  • Agree man...this is the best there is the best there was and the best there ever will be. Overall beat other handphones down including newer smartphones.. To be fair i must say the sony experia z3 is euivalent to this. agree?

  • I have had many phones over the years with my Galaxy S5 being my normal day to day phone and a host of iPhones and other Androids and newer Samsungs as my business ones. The Galaxy S5 is undoubtedly the GREATEST one of all the phones I have had. I know there have been the odd issue arising with other people but overall it is a dependable device. It never lags, it is smooth, silky and quick. It is unbelievably reliable and I have dropped it many times and it does not break.Water and dust resistant. There is not a single problem I can name with this phone and I have had it since launch date in 2014. The so-called newer flagships by Samsung, Apple and Moto etc. can go to shame. This is the best, most reliable phone you can get. I truly mean it. My Samsung Galaxy S5 still works as good as new. Probably the best, most reliable Samsung phone ever made - maybe even Smartphone in general

  • Still running Galaxy S5 the W8 (Canada version) on a custom ROM, blazing fast and still better then the new ones , that none of them is making me update anytime soon. In the same time I am still enjoying LTE on the phone to the max I can get (80 Mbps) :)

  • This is damn good phone in fact better than some newer flagship phone. No issues no lag i love it. I have the 4G+

  • I have a galaxy s5 but it does not work LTE Indian s5 are not made with LTE

  • Dose LTE works in samsung s5 in india ?

  • I have this phone and loved it, but like many others had screen issues. At first it would flicker, found a solution for that, but then it came back and at the start would need a few tries to turn on. Now it takes about fifty tries and is thus extremely unreliable, have gotten lost and was late for an appointment because I couldn't use my phone. Samsung refuses to replace the screen and generally were rude, unhelpful and ignored my questions and didn't answer them, assumed it was my fault even though I treated the phone with uttermost care. Screen replacement would have cost several hundred dollars so I decided to go back to my old S3mini. My dad has the same phone and no issues, but I have heard of several people with the exact same problem. Won't buy Samsung again.

  • I have a SM-G900F model which is heavily modified and its performance was measured by AnTuTu with a score of 73.844, thanks to: - No Limits 6.1 ROM (debloated) - Boeffla Kernel 2.4 (S POWER performance profile) - Adreno GPU Driver updated - No Limits Tweaks It's a great phone, even in stock. Now let's see if there will be an Android O Custom ROM for this Snapdragon 801-powered phone.

  • To KATANADVO: My friend check the ABOUT PHONE section in SETTINGS to ensure it shows May date...reason being you could have gotten April's security patch late, in the month of May.

  • To ORIGINAL JAMAICAN i got my securoty patch update for the month of may 2017 many bugs are fixed..all right

  • Replace your screen or buy a new phone.

  • No

  • Try spelling that again...

  • Has anybody gotten any security updates for May?

  • can i upgrade this to android 7?

  • i never see mobile like this ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,very very good

  • Sumsung is the best phone ever from it kind of release, i will alwayz be married with my S5

  • Fully Agree...ditto

  • The best phone with great 801 chip...camera 10 out of 9...superb phone..but not supported VoLet...pls ...samsung team...look at us..we are using 1 of best phone in s series..in there is no volet....make it possible.

  • To the many people complaining about battery drain: As with most phones this comes with all the apps Samsung/vendor wants you to have/buy/use. Without root they can not be removed, only disabled; it will be on your phone and unless it's removed/disabled it will be running, hence drain your battery. Now you'll know what to do - before disabling / after removing (on rooted phones) the crap do a factory reset. A Snapdragon 801 is nothing to dislike, to date is one of the best chips made (my LG G2 uses an older version and the OnePlus One uses this same one), runs latest custom Nougat firmware without a hitch.

  • I have never experienced that. You can try a factory reset in case it's not an amoled burn but instead software related.

  • To ORIGINAL JAMAICAN have you experience a yellowish or blackscreen sometimes in your s5? Some say that it is an amoled burn? How can you fix this problem?

  • you d prefer it to be meditek? really suprising comment

  • Great phone for gaming :)

  • What a joke it has snap dragon

  • It has USB OTG, tested with my USB stick and mouse. I think VoLTE has to be enabled, not sure.

  • Does it have voLTE out of the box and OTG?

  • I constantly say this can go head to head with many 2017 flagships. As somebody said recently, it seems as if Samsung wanted to make the very best possible phone when they made the S5. It still lives on and has more capabilities than many newer ones.

  • This is one damn solid phone till today. Anyone who complains about issues such as overheating or battery draining fast it's all their own doing. They expect a phone to be 100per cent perfect. Help me find one i will also buy. There are absolutely no complains about this beast it performs like a charm. No lag slight overheating is acceptable as with all phones. No battery drain unless your battery is way too old. Even new batteries will depend on your usage. I will still dare say till date it's one of the best mobile even better than some newer models.

  • Exactly. I have had mine since 2014 and I don't have any form of issue like that.

  • your s5 also fake la or maybe u don't know how to use man

  • got an S5. Had it since 2014 and now the battery is draining faster than I can charge it (well, almost). I love the phone but after turning the phone on, it tells me I need to stop between 35 and 50 applications that are slowing the device down and draining the battery. ??????

  • To PHAROAHS: You may have a fake and that's all I have to say.

  • FYI : the battery drains very quickly. if you're not then you simply do factory data reset Battery consumption depends on the applications you have installed on the phone and working in the background even if you do not use the phone. such as; facebook, instagram, messenger, snapchat,Netflix, etc, so if you delete these apps and use them through the browser , thus saving up to 40% of the battery (day)life , the display put on minimum brightness and wi - fi, bluetooth,3G use it when you need. li -ion batteries work better when you are not used to the end 0%,but most to 25 % and then put the battery to charge75-90% , ( why?) lithium-ion batteries have a rated lifetime of somewhere between 500 and 1,500 charge cycles. so if it reach 100% or less then 25% then it lose 1 cycle.(the user runs it down all the way to zero before recharging) can degrade to 70 percent of its original capacity in 300-500 cycles With a DoD of 25 percent, where the user plugs it in as soon as it gets to 75 percent remain, that same battery could be charged up to 2,500 times before it starts to seriously degrade. Charge a little bit whenever you can. Lithium-ion batteries don't respond well to being charged all the way up and then run all the way down. They take much better to little bits of charge here and there. What's far more dangerous to a battery's well-being is heat. Lithium-ion batteries despise heat. suggests that calibration – fully discharging then recharging your phone's battery – once every three months helps it maintain its charge capacity

  • not lucky with S5 yet. I got my 1st one n it was over heating at 1st day. returend and got replaced. This one was ok with heating initially but camera was not as good as other S5. And the audio for net calls are pathetic. Have a few friends with S5 and they seem to have not trouble with them. Bought it in September last year, now the phone heats up when being charged and the battery don't last. I feel it is the worst of Samsung phones I have ever used. Samsung Wonder, S3 mini, S3 were all excellent phone during their days.. this one just a disappointment for me. Any one have solutions for the heating other than getting a new battery or charger. Also any suggestion on improving camera and audio bot ways -speaker and mic?

  • He may be a con indeed as he only listed alleged cons of the S5.

  • Sorry you can't utilize 3G signal because they have different bandwidth.

  • agree with you i think that elvis is is also a con

  • To ELVIS: And those two cons make it the second worse Samsung product? I don't have those issues with my S5. Why should anybody take advice from you anyway, Elvis is dead.

  • worst Samsung product ever after note 7 camera isn't good enough slow fingerprint scanner

  • Maybe your main camera and your front camera is deffective..

  • u know difference between blurry and noisy? Come on dont lie

  • I means the picture is blurry...especially in low light condition..and especially the front camera..hehe

  • What do you mean too much noisy in the cam? I have no experience that in my S5 though

  • For me..this phone almost perfect..just one thing its lack is the front camera..when the condition is in low light...the picture will have too much noisy...can we replace the camera ?..hahaha

  • great mobile

  • I can't find sim application toolkit on my s5

  • as it supports 4g

  • It's a security update, the phone works the same as before, and I even got some more free space. If they were really doing what you say, no one would buy a Samsung again.

  • this update is a downgrade by samsung and they make you to purchase new device !

  • Yes go to mobile networks and set it to automatic

  • does it support Volte ? Can i use jio sim in this phone ?

  • Hi, in the features of Samsung Galaxy S5 specific for the SM G900A (at&t) UMTS: 850/1900 / 2100MHz and in my country 3G technology will work on UMTS 900MHz, there is way to enable this frequency?

  • does it support Volte ? Can i use Jio Sim in this phone ?

  • hardware reset turn off phone press at once power button , volume up, home button until logo appears, then choose the erase data then yes then reboot... tada...ty

  • I just received a 120 MB system update. Very nice of Samsung to keep supporting the S5.

  • I'm upset cause I can't remember my back up pin number so my phone is no good to me

  • yes u need tape and rubber band so u can attach to binoculars then zoom away

  • yes can zoom all the way but you need an extension rod

  • completely agree - that shows your knowledge and appreciation of good phones

  • S5 all the way

  • its a sm-g900i

  • I thought the Camera could zoom - but mine does not Any definitive answer please

  • Yes

  • ORIGINAL JAIMAICAN thanks for your replies men appreciated so much..if you dont mind may i know your whatsapp no.? For future queries regarding the unit..you can email it to [email protected] for your privacy..thanks again

  • Thats an android security patch level somehow its good..

  • Oh

  • To PHONEX90: No problem. It was my pleasure to assist you.

  • I hope Samsung release Nougat update for S5...hoho..one thing i like of the Samsung product is they still follow up their old phone and sometimes they give a new firmware update to it...not like Oppo..their old phone just stuck at the old firmware so they can push us to buy their new phone every year..huhu..

  • Yes..this is why i want to try this phone..the battery can be replace..and..i already replace the battery...hahaha..now i just need to observe it is my new battery good or not..hehe..anyway, tq for reply my message...

  • Owh like that..tqvm for helping me..have a good day 😆

  • To PHONEX90: At least you can replace your battery with a new one. As of S6 all the batteries are built-in so you are stuck with battery problems or have to take it to a repair centre to get it replaced. I know somebody who got a S6 little over a year and already having battery problems. They have to charge their S6 for 6 hours even with a fast charger. I have my S5 for two and a half years and my battery is still giving me good mileage. I honestly cannot complain.

  • To PHONEX90: The DOZE feature is somewhat tricky to find. From the BATTERY menu open the sub-menu (the 3 dots) from the top right hand corner. You can either touch the 3 dots to open it OR hold the recent apps key for 2 seconds or until the menu comes up. After the sub-menu opens just select 'Battery Optimization'.

  • To ANANTH: You got that update quickly. My updates usually hit near the end of the month. The earliest update I got was the December one which came in on the 17th. Nice way for Samsung to wish me Merry Christmas (smile).

  • What version of update you got today ?

  • Wow..5 hours on screen battery is good enough..while me, 3 hours something only for 1 full charge .hahaha...probably my S5's battery have a problem...huhu..

  • Tqvm for your explaination...however, i dont know where to find DOZE thing that you said to me..can you explain to me about that ?..TQ

  • My phone is extremly awsome. Today i got new update for may 2017. Anybody have any issues

  • Nice move and welcome to S5 family regarding your batt draining it depends on how you use..try this tip credited to mR . ORIGINAL JAMAICAN it helps a lot. If you are using Marshmallow (which I am) go to the BATTERY menu and activate DOZE mode. Turn on doze for all the apps, files and processes. Everything will be in a long list. While you are in the battery menu go to the POWER SAVING option and select ALWAYS SAVE POWER for all the applications in that list. Secondly turn off automatic updates from the Playstore. Turn of all the motion gestures and sensors. Turn off Wi-Fi, Data, Bluetooth and any other radio you aren't using like NFC etc. Disable things like My Magazine/Flipboard, S-Voice and other stuff if you don't use. By the way, disabling S-Voice will give you faster response when using the Home button. In Wi-Fi mode go to advance settings and disable Wi-Fi always on when sleeping. Set it to never. Finally set your screen brightness to the absolute minimum which is comfortable to your eye.

  • I usually get 5 hours of screen on time. I tend to Web browse a lot and I use chrome which isn't the best option battery wise.

  • Hello guys, hi all S5 users...i am new with this phone...i swap my Oppo N3 with this S5..so, i'm a bit newbie with this Samsung S5 interface and system..anyway, may i know how much hours on screen that you get when you use it daily ???...because i noticed my S5 battery draining to fast...

  • To KATANADVO: AIDA64 is the golden diagnostic software in letting you know what camera sensor you have. I just found out about it. I downloaded it from the Playstore and ran it. It works perfectly. Once you download and run it open the 'Devices' category. At the very top it will tell you what sensor you have. If the camera ID begins with SLSI then you have the ISOCELL sensor. If not you should see something like SONY_IMX240. If it's not ISOCELL the camera ID line will begin with SONY for sure. For the record mine says SLSI_S5K2P2_FIMC_IS My theory is that the S5 part of the ID is in recognition of the Galaxy S5 being the first smartphone to use the ISOCELL sensor. Even the S6 with ISOCELL have the S5 in the ID string as well. The S5 is simply the best.

  • Agreed. It's like they simply wanted to make the best *phone* not a fashion statement or a trend setter. Battery can be removed, it's reasonably water resistant, supports everything from memory cards to infrared, NFC or USB on the go, and it's not entirely made of glass. The more I use it, the more I like it.

  • To KATANADVO: The G900F is the international Snapdragon version. The fact that you have that model doesn't mean you have the Sony sensor because GSMArena reviewed the G900F and their unit had a ISOCELL sensor. It's just that the easier way to get the ISOCELL sensor is with the G900H...as far as I know. Try the code I gave you and see what happens. Otherwise you will have to get a diagnostic software from the Playstore and see if it reveals it. Try CPUZ as that was a very good diagnostic software for computers and it should also be as good for mobiles. After CPUZ shows up after searching for it the Playstore should list similar diagnostic apps. You can try them all if you can.

  • tell me about it, I cant even seem to find a good replacement for this phone and have just got a sim only contract because there is nothing out there in the market that resembles this.

  • Original jaimaican I have G900F so it means my sensor is sony?

  • To KATANADVO: I should have told you that the Exynos version of the S5 usually comes with ISOCELL. To check if you have the Exynos version go to SETTINGS, ABOUT PHONE then look for MODEL. If you see G900H then you have the Exynos version. Anything else is the Snapdragon version.

  • The last Galaxy S with a removable battery and a myriad of features or better yet a complete rich list of features.

  • To MDN8: The S5 is a masterpiece of a phone.

  • To KATANADVO XDA forums have a topic about the S6 using both Samsung's ISOCELL and Sony's imaging sensor. It really started since the S5 but it's rarely mentioned in the news. The ISOCELL is said to be the best overall but there was a shortage which is why Samsung used the Sony sensor as a substitute. According to Samsung both sensors yield similar results: Official statement Samsung Benelux. “The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge utilize camera sensors from several different vendors. Like all of the technology used in our products, they meet our strict global quality and performance standards.” As I said it started with the S5 but it wasn't a highlight reel during the S5 era so everything discussed about the S6's camera sensor just apply it to the S5 as well. Nevertheless, you can dial this code to see which sensor you have *#34971539# Apparently it doesn't work for everybody based on region, carrier etc. It's worth a try though. Please let me know the outcome.

  • I finally decided to upgrade from my old N8 and since I don't have much money right now I looked at the classifieds for something second-hand, good and affordable. So after I spent some time searching and looking for "the right one" I bought a Galaxy S5. It's in almost perfect condition, 2 years old, the battery was replaced this year, and it has the S-View cover and a tempered glass protection. The guy upgraded to the S6 and sold this one to recover some costs, and he was really taking good care of it. I've been playing with it for a week now, trying and testing everything, and I'm really satisfied. :-) The only downside is that the USB port cover fell off, but I ordered one off eBay already. Seems to be a common problem, and I got it cheaper because of that, so I'm not complaining. :-)

  • Hi jamaican I would i know if my S5 is using isocell or sony camera?

  • To AIMANA74: I have my S5 for 2 years and 6 months. After two and a half years my battery still holds up. I am still able to get *5 hours On Screen Time* with my multiple year old battery. My camera is still working perfectly and working even better with Marshmallow. The charger works on and off these days but I still got a little over two years before it started giving problems. However, I was able to do better than the charger that came in the box. The original charger that came with my S5 is a USB 2.0 version...I purchased a USB 3.0 charger last month. So I'm back in business again and with greater speeds when I'm ready to transfer data via my desktop computer. The S5 is not problematic as you make it seem. I have never regretted owning my S5 and may even get another one when mine does it time.

  • To HARRY: What many persons tend to forget (and I suspect you may be one such person) is that there are two variants of the S5 camera. One is the ISOCELL version and one is the SONY version. I have the version with the ISOCELL sensor. There's a vast difference in image quality between the two. A friend of mine was inspired to get an S5 due to the high image qualities of my photos. They got one but their S5 image didn't came out as clear as mine. I realise they got the version with the SONY image sensor. I don't have blurriness problems with my S5 whether I focus manually or let it automatically focus for me. To be fair, there are a few times an image may bot be focused but it's not a common affair...and every camera have their times...even standalone dedicated cameras. 3/4 of the time my camera take excellent photos.

  • To DANY16: It takes 1hr. 55mins. to charge the S5 from 0-100%. That's not too long if you ask me. I had a S2 which came with a 1650 mAh battery and that took 3hr. 10mins. to charge. The S5 comes with a 2800 mAh battery and charges under 2 hours. That's not bad if you ask me. Based on the endurance review from GSMArena, yes both the A5 (2016) and A3 (2017) has a longer battery endurance, but in life you give and take. You will have to measure it all up and decide which of the three phones suits your needs best. It's as simple as that. Keep us posted in letting us know which phone you went for and how the experience is going for you.

  • yes i agree with you no problem with this phone at all

  • No i have this phone for 3yrs.now all in stock the batt charger and specially the camera still captures amazing photo..

  • Nice Phone. But tends to damage easily the charger, the camera, battery goes fast. the best thing of this phone its the camera and screen. Enjoy this phone while it last.

  • That's sounds nice but i heard it takes a lot of time to charge and A series have better battery life. Also, the A3(2017) also has water resistance.

  • Worse than S3 and S4?

  • To DANY16: The S5 all the way. It's still a flagship with premium specifications. Compared to both 'A' series you asked about, the S5 still offers exquisite features over them: 1. S5 has UHD video recording (2160p) opposed to 1080p@30FPS for both 'A' series. Not to mention the S5 offers 1080p up to 60FPS and not just 30FPS like both 'A' series. 2. S5 has a vast amount of sensors over both 'A' series. 3. S5 has heart rate scanner (first smartphone in the world to introduce it). 4. S5 is the first and only Galaxy S to offer USB 3.0 (S6,S7 and S8 doesn't have it). USB 3.0 speeds up data tranfers via computer (computer must have USB 3.0 ports to get the faster speed) 10 times faster than USB 2.0. 5. S5 is water resistance. There you have it. 5 reasons to get the S5. "I have 5 on it" and you should too.

  • Great phone, but if you are one of the unlucky ones, it has an absolutely terrible camera due to it's inability to focus / defocus as the shot is taken. If a camera is important to you, then avoid this one completely, unless you like to take high resolution, but very blurry images 80% of the time.

  • S5

  • S5 (Better Benchmark) Then The Other 2. Great Build-In Feature As Well.

  • Galaxy s5 may be old but still reliable and battery can be removed....definitely higher specs than a4 2017

  • Galaxy S5 or Galaxy A3(2017) or Galaxy A5(2016) if i want to use a phone for a long time??

  • Same here...

  • For moving apps to the SD card: Did you go to Settings/Application Manager/Downloaded and check the app in question? Some of them aren't capable of being moved. There should be a Move to SD Card for the ones that are.

  • It's certainly not slow for me.

  • too slow when downloading

  • how do you move apps from phone storage to sd card?my phone keeps sending message sim card is full yet no messages on sim card.it tells me to delete some apps to create storage yet the sd card is empty

  • any update android 7???????

  • the phone is to slow when down loading needs better software upgrade

  • How is your battery backup after lineage os?

  • What i mean is system memory not storage memory ..though i have only 16gb in my internal.

  • To KATANADVO; System memory refers to RAM. You meant to say storage memory right?

  • There are Nougat ROMs on XDA - LineageOS is the one I use. You have to install a custom recovery which voids the warranty of the phone - but then again, this is a two-three year old device, there is no warranty. LineageOS is an AOSP ROM and works just fine on the S5.

  • Nope. Samsung S Series Will Only Have Up To 2 Time Update, There Is No Exceeding Over 2 Updates. So (6.0.1) Is The Final Update For S5.

  • If you root it to lineageOS you get nougut version

  • My S5 is awesome after several updates the system memory is now 4gb so fast..so cool

  • My S5 usually gives me 5-7 minutes before it loses a percent of battery life while browsing or using whatsapp on Wi-Fi.

  • To KATANADVO; There are many tricks you can perform with the S5 but you would be better off googling it, As for Nougat the S5 won't be getting it. The deal for Android phones is two years worth of upgrade. The S5 came with KitKat, got upgraded to Lollipop and finally Marshmallow. There will be no more updates for it.

  • Can s5 will take android nougat ??

  • Just wondering if your on the phone then how long will it last? Like if you're browsing through the internet or texting and you don't put the phone down.

  • No, the screen is pretty good, very resistant. I've dropped my S5 a lot of times since 2014. Sorry my english!

  • Question....does the screen break easily? Just bought a case that has no screen cover, and might return it, depending on answer.....

  • Hi onece again ..regarding batt optimization just a little bit improvement ..thanks anyway do you have tricks on S5? Btw could it be update to nougut?

  • To SAI: What happens exactly when you try to activate it?

  • Power saver mode not working...after reset it just wrk for an week again not wrking. ...need alternate solution pls frns reply???

  • Power saver mode not working...after reset it just wrk for an week again not wrking. ...enable power saving mod

  • To KATANADVO; Please let me know if you see a difference in battery performance.

  • To KATANADVO; Yes I still use it up to this day. I'm yet to see a reason to upgrade. It's a solid feature rich device which stands up to many flagships today. The S5 is probably the most under-rated S series to date. It does more than non-owners would think. I can never get enough of it.

  • Okay got it sir thank you so much..by the way are you still using S5 up to now?

  • You are right. The S5 can still stand up to today's flagships. Monday of this week made it exactly two and a half years since I have my S5 and it still looks brand new with the only peeling being on the USB flap which is expected seeing that for the most part you have to open it and close it on a daily basis.

  • this is one of the best. still very good and does not look old if carefully taken care of.

  • To KATANADVO; The DOZE feature is somewhat tricky to find. From the BATTERY menu open the sub-menu (the 3 dots) from the top right hand corner. You can either touch the 3 dots to open it OR hold the recent apps key for 2 seconds or until the menu comes up. After the sub-menu opens just select 'Battery Optimization'.

  • Hi there..im running marshmallow version of my s5 i just read your comment on how to optimize batt ..hence under battery app you said i didi not find the DOZE app of whatvyou said ..how come? Pls.help

  • No problem at all .samsung s5 is simply amazing

  • i am interested in buying an s5 can anyone tell me if the phone has any problems?

  • i got this one its good in term of performance and speed but the battery drains so quickly

  • i have a galaxy s5.. and it's build number was SM-G900 .. I was thinking why other model their build number was (SM-G900F)(SM-G900H)(SM-G900M) and so on.. why my phone was only SM-G900 only.. not have any alphabet behind.. can anyone help me

  • To Ezinna Jerry: If you are using Marshmallow (which I am) go to the BATTERY menu and activate DOZE mode. You can search around for other enabled things that you don't use and turn them off. For instance, if you don't use 3G because you live on Wi-Fi like me then go to the NETWORK menu in the main SETTINGS and change it from WDCMA/GSM to GSM ONLY. I gave you a dozen tips. Please keep me posted and tell me if you see a difference in battery life. On average I get 5-7 minutes on average while browsing on Wi-Fi using the proprietary web browser...not Google Chrome, the other built in browser called Internet. For the record I leave one motion sensor on and that's palm swipe to capture. Please let me know the outcome.

  • To VJ2; Can you share a photo so we can see the condition? Also what's the built in storage capacity and what G900 version is it?

  • hello

  • For those who has battery life issue (drains very fast). Try to remove your microSD card. This helped me on my old galaxy s4. I replaced it with another one - works perfect now. Hope this helps you as well. Good Luck !

  • agree

  • How do you make your battery last? Mine leaves 100% to 80% or less in just 10 minutes! And the rest of the battery drains at 1% per minute on screen.

  • Not to mention the battery outperforms many newer phones with higher capacity batteries.

  • for your info it still perform better than alot of current flagship...ok? Understand?

  • But at around 200 €/£ is still better than a lot of more recent mobiles at the same price range.

  • Of course, it's not a flagship since who knows when...

  • A good phone.... the specs are a bit outdated but overall it's quite nice...

  • The battery label sticker below the battery shows 1800 mAh for the G900H (octa-core) while it shows 1500 mAh for the G900F (quad- core). Anybody knows why?

  • Some say G900FH, Some say G900F. I say G900H. If you multitask a lot the G900H which is the ONLY version with 8 CPUs compared to the G900F 4 CPUs, gives you better results. Some say the G900F is faster at single tasks operation but I did a test where the dialler opened more quickly on a G900H compared to a G900T which is T-Mobile's version of the G900F. All is all any S5 you choose is a winner in terms of speed but take note that not ALL S5 have isocell camera sensors which gives you excellent imaging qualities. The G900H certainly have it but some variants like the G900V (Verizon) seems to use the Sony image sensor. It's a jungle out there where the S5 is concerned. I have the G900H and am very happy with it. I have no problems with it whatsoever. It's as good as the day I first took it out of the box which was basically 2 years 6 months ago. You can't go wrong with a S5 and it has more features than the majority of today's phone. Do you comparisons and see for yourself.

  • Mudassar, is your USB port still covered by the plastic cover? If not, have a look and use a toothpick, for example, to clean it with if you see something in there. It might algo be hardware. Had something similar to your problem and it was the USA port that didn't work properly. When I connected it to the computer, it would recognize the phone and then stop and recognise again, non stop...

  • what's the best s5 model? G900F?

  • This phone was too old for me, but processor makes the price will not going down easily It because clockspeed of this Galaxy S5 can up to 2.500MHz, that's howmarkable. I admit this phone can handle heavy apps or games with smoothly condition even RAM is not bigger, but playing games without any apps works on background, there is no problem to do it. I'm not sure S5 is 100% safe on the water with removable battery on the back, just make sure is firmly sealed :D

  • My S5 not pick the charger but some time pik when my mobile is off then the hazard symbol is workin but battery not charg what happened can you gave me any suggestions please

  • Had mine 3 weeks will not charge. Took back to Good Guys they sent it away. Lasted a week doing same thing. Been on the phone all afternoon wanting a new phone or my money back. Seems to be a problem with a new one as I didn't pay over $500,00 for the phone. Manager ringing back tomorrow with an answer to replace it or send it away again.

  • You should adapt to the changes made to the phone, you may find them different or whatever. Give it a try, if you don't like it, then just get another kind of phone.

  • What do you mean by ¨Little Anime Assistant¨?

  • agree with you man this is one beast of a phone and people who say this model is lousy either dont have this phone or are dont know how to use.

  • come on... are you crazy? No microsd, no user-removable battery, no irda, no amoled, no mhl. Iphone is just fashionist toy

  • Samsung galaxy S5 really so beautiful phone 💜💜

  • The iPhone 5s is better in performance than the galaxy S5 but in other aspects the galaxy S5 is better but not in many aspects

  • Has someone incontured a problem when suddenly the phone charges slower than usual, and battery lasts a bit shorter than usual, this happened once, but then the phone reacted normally.. I don't know it it could be a problem with some app that is using battery in background, or the battery issue, or charger or usb cable isue, the carger is genuine samsung one, but cable isn't original, although it charged the phone really well untill now? Thank in advance on your answers..

  • It seems like you have a G900F. The F is the international version for sale outside of North America. It also seems like you have ATT software. A G900A would be an ATT version of the phone. You can try installing an app called Phone INFO ★Samsung★ by vndnguyen for google play. They have a firmware browser that may find firmware updates for your phone. But it may not work if your phone has been hybridized. If you want OTA updates, try to find a firmware that is compatible with or released by your carrier.

  • Still a good choice for 2017. All the bells and whistles for under $200. Updates to Marshmallow 6.0.1. I had a G900A and now a G900T. I like the T a little better because of the software differences. The G900T is also better for my carrier.

  • To DANY16: The only problem is that you might get too addicted to it. You have been warned (smile).

  • Any problems with this phone?

  • I have my S5 G900f which is running kitkat 4.4.2 It has a G900A bootloader , And a G900A baseband. An AT&T CSC code, and Fingerprint build. it even has the AT&T software update which Ban me from recieving any OTA update, i'm from morocco and i use it with my maroc telecom SIM card. but it's running a G900f firmware ! i even took the IMEI i get by dialing *#06# and put it in IMEI checker and it says it's a G900f ! do i have a refurbished phone or a firmware mixed one ? now , i want to update it to marshmallow. what model's firmware do you think i should be flashing to update it to marshmallow ? i'm still confused if i have a G900f or A G900A.

  • Hello to all of Galaxy S5 Users!!! :D I have my Galaxy S5 in almost 3 years(April 2014 to be exact) ... I really love my phone :D :D :D . it didn't give me any trouble or something . It works perfectly !! . No performance and heating issues, long lasting battery, perfect camera and it's still WATERPROOF AMAZING !! :D I have the Galaxy S5 with a model of SC-04F (from NTT DOCOMO) color white with an S-view Copper Gold, running on android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) . It has 32gb of internal memory, a fast charging capability and a wireless charging capability (besides power button there's a 2 gold holes) This is regarding with the Marshmallow Update . I doubt with others complaining their S5 occuring issues after Marshmallow update . I have updated my S5 last Aug 2016 , after the update it's became laggy, I have read on the internet that I should do a reset after updating my phone . Then eventually, I follow the instructions , I backup-ed my data , go to Recovery Mode , wiping CACHE PARTITION and do a WIPE DATA/ FACTORY RESET it will stock on SAMSUNG LOGO about 5mins and it will boot up :) Marshmallow Update is AWESOME !!! it will really improved your phone I swear :) -Improved Camera especially Auto focus speed -Improved Icons and some interface -Improved Fingerprint scanner -Improved the speed of browsing and loading -Improved battery life (I like the improvements of camera, icon and fingerprint scanner :D) I advised that all of Galaxy S5 users should update to MARSHMALLOW :D this review is for my beloved phone's birthday :D hehehe kinda weird . But i still have my Galaxy s3 for 5 years :D and still working fine with no issues , long battery life though :) PS: I love the MINI ANIME CARTOON ASSISTANT floating on my S5 screen :D

  • How is battery

  • To DEDTAZ: I have my S5 for 2 years and 5 months and I have NEVER had any issues with it that was worth mentioning. It has been solid for me all these years. I hope your new one will be just as solid as mines. Keep us posted.

  • To BRANDON_LESS: Your S5 (SM-S903VL) is exclusive to straight talk and uses Verizon towers. It's said that only a few thousands of these were made for the provider. It's a rare model because you can't easily get the firmware/ROM from your average ROM site...in the event you would like to put a custom ROM on it. The specs are the same as the G900F (international/European version) as it uses the Snapdragon chipset rather than the Exynos chipset. Hope my advice helps.

  • To JAMES: I am very sorry to hear about all the ordeals that you have been through especially having your first S5 stolen. Did you try to track your original S5 with the assistance of your daugther or a friend as S5 have built in tracking features. I hope you tried to locate your stolen device. If not it's never too late. On the issue of their supposedly customer care service, I don't wrong you, take legal action and get as much money out of them for your troubles and inconveniences of not having the phone...because even though it wasn't accepting SIM cards, you could at least least dial your local emergency numbers which doesn't require a SIM to be in the phone. Please keep me and the others posted as I would like to know the outcome of your very unfortunate situation. Take care my friend.

  • The last update I received for my S5 (February patch) was a cool one. It cleaned up my storage. Before the update, 7.60GB storage space was used up. After the update it went down from 7.60GB to 7.13GB. That's basically a 500MB trim. All of my personal files were still in tact so I have to commend Samsung for doing a wonderful job with these updates. Each update seems to improve the device better whether it be in speed or more storage not to mention secure the device against the latest threats. It's a win win situation any way you look at it.

  • I have the S5 and I loved it at first. Then the trouble began. I have gotten a blue screen security error: this phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support. WTH.... I have only had this phone since January and I have had to have it fixed 4 times! Once with a completely download that was "supposed" to fix the problem. It is now completely useless! No more fixing! They are sending me a new phone! Anyone else have this problem?

  • I've had questions since I purchased my s5 back in November of 2016. Hopefully someone can help me. Which version/model is: SM-S903VL ?

  • Have this phone for more then 2 years. After it upgrade to Android 6.01 it become more stable. Only complaint is the front camera that is very bad. But i can understand... it was lounched in 2014.

  • Ill Advised & Ripped Off After having my Samsung S5 stolen, My daughter very kindly bought me a replacement, A Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900 Phone that was in perfect condition without a blemish on the handset and in immaculate condition I have no money at the moment to buy another phone myself and this was a very kind and generous gesture of which I was and still am grateful for. The Phone was not cheap and after unboxing the phone I found out that there was a problem with the handset. I took the phone to a well-known phone shop as everything worked perfectly, But would not accept any sim cards from any network providers. The shop checked the phone was not to;en or barred and the basics without voiding any possible warranty They also charged me £50.00 and told me to contact Samsung Repair service centre as they were very good and would help me with any issues that the phone had and they said they was very good with customers and they gave me their number After contacting them I was advised that my handset would be collected by courier and returned to me as soon as possible. I was advised to send everything with the phone as it would have to pass quality control. I waited 4 days and contacted them and I was told the phone was out of warranty even though it looked like it had never been used before. They told me that I would have to pay £63.30 As it was out of warranty and I paid the money so I could get the phone back as I needed my new bought phone as I am registered disabled which they were also made aware of. I was told as long as there is no cosmetic damage to the phone, It would be fixed and sent back to me within 5 working days. I after 11/12 days in total I contacted them and was told they were still working on my phone and to phone back Monday. when I phoned back they told me there is a problem with the circuit board and it was not worth them fixing? In total, they had my phone for 14 days Samsung has not kept to the Agreement That they made me pay £63.00 for and I find it very frustrating and I am now very distressed over the whole issue and Problems they have caused me. I have had to phone my Drsas this has made me very depressed and I do not think it is fair that they have gone back on the agreement they made with me maybe because I am of no importance to them They told me they were going to refund my money and send the phone back I explained what I had been told and asked what the problem was and what had caused it but they were reluctant to tell me. I received my phone back which no longer works AT ALL it does not even switch on as it did before I sent it to them. After being informed that my phone would be returned to me exactly how I had sent it to them, I expected it back the same as it was the repair center that told me this. they have damaged the phone even more than it was so it no longer works at all They also tell me they had to destroy the receipt I sent in with the phone for data protection I have been waiting for 17 days to resolve this matter only to have a Person who told me that his manager was with him and it does say in the terms and conditions that they may send your phone back in this way. I HAVE NEVER been given OR had ANY TERMS a CONDITIONS Read to me. I asked to speak to the MANAGER As he clarified he was not a Manager, He then told me that there were no Managers in Today after telling me he was sat next to 1. I asked which was it to be either there was a Manager there or not and he said I was getting Confrontational and put the phone down on me I have waited 4 Days to speak to a Manager about the whole situation and this is how I was treated. I will be seeking Legal advice now and if anyone else has had this problem I suggest they do the same. I need a phone as I have serious falls and live alone, There has been no Care or Professional Customer Sevice and I will be taking this matter all the way as I am not going to be lied to or ripped off and I will never buy another SAMSUNG Product, Brighton / UK

  • this phone is actually waterproof

  • yes its 4g lte.

  • Other than replacing the cell, there isn't much you can do. Well, if you're rooted, lower your CPU speed, debloat OS, choose battery-friendly social apps.

  • Should I upgrade my S5 to marshmallow? any battery life issues? thanks

  • I think you're Galaxy S5 is from philippines tho . S5 in ph doesn't have marshmallow upgrade. Take a look at you're csc code(country code). Globe Smart Sun XTC(openline) all of these dont have marshmallow update. Btw I'm in Philippines too ... I have my Galaxy S5 3 years from now and its running good in Marshmallow :) You just need to factory reset and wipe cache when you update to marshmallow

  • It's funny how the basically three year old S5 features 4k 2160p video recording and it's just now most of the competition is catching up. For example, the Huawei P10 flagship which just got released in this month is the first in the P series line to have 4K video recording. It took Huawei three years to catch up Samsung in the video recording department. I have always said that the Galaxy S lead by example. The Galaxy S always contains more features than the average consumer needs which is a good thing anyway you look at it.

  • How did you do that?

  • s5 runs on android 7.1.1 too easy

  • My wife and I both have the Galaxy S7 edge and recently received the latest software update. We do NOT like the update changes. They are counter-intuitive, hard to read and NOT user friendly. I do not know why Samsung felt they had to change a system that was working fine and user friendly but they did. We are now tempted to go the iPhone route after being Samsung customers for many years if they do not get rid of this latest update. Bad move Samsung.

  • Yes, LineageOS. So much better now than it was.

  • Yes in dreams

  • Yes last night i updated s5 g900f to android 7.0 IN DREAMS....

  • Have anyone upgraded Samsung galaxy S5 to 7.0 Nougat?

  • S5 !!

  • My Samsung Galaxy S 5 does not support Marshmallow.

  • Exynos 8core did support 4g.

  • Does ur phone supports 4g and mhl to hdtv ?????

  • To REALLY REAL: Only the G900H (Exynos version) doesn't support 4G. Every other version does.

  • Yes, but it depends on which version you have. Some of the earlier versions did not support 4g, I believe the Exynos 8 core version don't, but the Qualcomm 4 cores versions do.

  • Yes

  • You are welcome.

  • Oh thanks for info about samsung didn't put 4G to exynos version of S5..

  • Its support 4g or not...!!!?

  • download l speed, root your device, charge your phone to 100%, then press battery calibration

  • when i bought this phone it was nice to me but after few days lcd issues

  • the "v" means verizon networks

  • Its 2017 and still using Galaxy S5 best performance so far... I have Model G900F, is there anyone can give me the best advice how can extend my cell's battery life...??? Otherwise Great Working.

  • what about G900v

  • install this app_phone info

  • To BMAULANA: Go to then look for 'Model'. If it says G900H then that's the Exynos version which doesn't have support for 4G LTE. G900H is the ONLY version with an Exymos chipset. All other versions have Snapdragon.

  • - SM-G9006V_CHN_CHN (China) - SM-G9008V_CHN_ZM (China) - SM-G9009D_CHN_CTC (China) - SM-G900A_NA_ATT (AT&T) - SM-G900D_JPN_DCM (Japan) - SM-G900F_EUR_XX (Open Europe) - SM-G900H_EUR_XX (Open Europe) - SM-G900I_SEA_XSA (Asia) - SM-G900J_JPN_KDI (Japan) - SM-G900K_KOR_KTC (Korea) - SM-G900L_KOR_LGC (Korea) - SM-G900M_LA_VF (Vodafone) - SM-G900P_NA_SPR (Sprint) - SM-G900R4_NA_USC (US Cellular) - SM-G900S_KOR_SKC (Korea) - SM-G900T_NA_TMB (T-Mobile) - SM-G900V_NA_VZW (Verizon) - SM-G900W8_NA_BMC (BMC)

  • To Original-Jamaican: how do we know that our s5 is Exynos or not? because I just got a used Samsung S5 from my mom and I couldn't find 4g setting

  • s5 in usa is 4g and lte.

  • If you are thinking about buying a new s5 i would say youre doing the right thing at least until 2018. Rech is rapidly improving but in my opinion the s5 can still keep up with most of the newest apps and games. And for a phone of its age thats impressive. Even when it comes to the camera you can still capture great pics. So yeah as a first phone i would recomend it to anyone its a great starter point and at least here in the uk a very very cheap option even new. Lets not forget removable battery, water resistant, nfc, 4g, fast charge, etc... quite the bargain!

  • use xxx rom from xda. best ever

  • To RESTU FAJAR: You are right it doesn't support 4G and that's because at the time Samsung didn't find a way to get the Exynos and LTE to co-exist...which was solved by the release of the S6. I read that om an official news forum. I live on Wi-Fi. Once in a blue moon I will use 3G or 3.5G. I have used data services in ages but for those who need 4G LTE get one of the other S5 variants.

  • Because is better.. -.-

  • But sadly the exynos version of S5 didnt support 4g..

  • Thank you for the response, I am very grateful. Which means G900H is the better or the best among them. I also hope the G900H can work anywhere in the world including Europe even though it is not a Europe variant right ?

  • Will there be an update to android N officially??

  • Is is better rooting and installing a custom rom for my Galaxy S5 G900f or staying at original rom??

  • To SEYES: The G900H is octa-core (8 CPUs)) while the others are quad-core (4 CPUs). The G900F is mainly for Europe while the others like G900T, G900A, G900M is for T-Mobile, AT&T and Vodafone respectively. The octa-core version (G900H) totals 12.8GHz while the quad-core totals 10GHz. The G900H is said to be faster when running multiple applications simultaneously while the others are said to be faster when running single applications. However, in my test the G900H outperformed a G900T when opening the dialler. The G900H opened the dialler a second faster or little under a second.

  • Please which version of S5 is the best ? G900F/ G900H /G900T/G900V/ G900A. What are the differences between these versions. Thanks

  • Please for those who are using this phone, which version is the best? G900F, G900H and son?

  • The battery is very ok. but if you have any application running at background it might drain the battery and this apply to all the phones.

  • To SAM: I second that.

  • Samsung Galaxy S5 is the best Samsung I have ever used!

  • Bro do u hav any heating issues or battery drain??

  • Just buy it. The S5 is as good as it gets. Better than many flagships to date.

  • I am purchasing s5 is it good or not????

  • The phone is great. But im having problem with flickering screen which is a hardware problem with the update.

  • of course. The only version of s5 that doesn't have 4g is the one provided by China Telecom - SM-9009D

  • Are you sure galaxy s5 is 4g???

  • Good specs but just look bit old fashioned now. S7 has Modern looks i like speaker grill on side.

  • 4hours not really!

  • The battery on this phone is removable I don't know where you guys keep getting that it is not the S5 phone is waterproof and has removable battery which is something the S6 cannot say

  • Your phone knox bit is 0×1 So private mode is disabled

  • I just got Samsung S5 this month from a friend.it's a sweet phone. I have always hated Samsung phones but this S5 is super cool. I have two problems so far...when I got the phone, I did a hard reset before using it. I went to Private Mode to activate it but it told me "Failed to enable private mode, try again" please what should I do. And Battery can take me to 4 hours in an intensive usage...is that cool ?

  • May i know what is the latest security update for the S5? And does the current Marshmallow update include a torch shortcut on the drop down quick Settings/shortcuts? And is it worth getting an S5 this 2017? Did the Marshmallow update improve the performance and battery life of the phone?

  • Thanks guys. :)

  • Update it

  • But bettery and selfie camera are the worst.

  • Battery and selfie camera are the worst.

  • Look if you buy new now last till 2019 if in cover look after it, plus these ones with non-removable battery you have to chuck phone away! Trust me good buy I'm soooo happy with screen and pictures

  • Get 6 man it rips fast with 2GIG RAMBO

  • Absolutely! just brought brand new here $370, specs are insane!..why pay $900 for S7

  • Why?

  • Thank you. Is it worth to buy in 2017.? Do I have to update to android 6 or stay at lollipop?

  • S5 is better than A5

  • great phone ever

  • I think dot.... Oh my gosh...My pamily. Homaygad.. Im sorry i told you im so confiednt but im only 17 yrs old..

  • I agree i dont like non removable battery, or chuck phone away. Takes Fabuloz pics/videos battery goes 2 days. Specs are magnificent, hard to find though new now. Apps blazing fast with 2 gig of ram.

  • You are absolutely right no other phone comes close to the S5 best phone ever

  • One of the best phones ever. Some say the S5 is still the best S series to date and I agree.

  • I am still getting software updates as of January 2017 :) I am using this device for almost 2 and a half years. Great phone!!!

  • unfortunatly the lcd of my samsung was cracked incidentally by me. I CANT FIND A DECENT PHONE TO REPLACE THE MAJESTIC GALAXY S5. At his range i cant find a phone like its caracteristics. the sommary of sensors and features that S5 has no other phone have. Fingerprint, accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, compass, barometer, gesture, heart rate, 5.1 inch fullHD 432 ppi pixel density, nfc, infrared port, usb 3.0, 4G LTE, MHL 2.1 TV-out...i lost my beloved phone. cant by another screen bcs to expensiv for me. better to by a new S5 instead to by a new screen. really majestic.

  • Guys, hows the front camera of s5? And how long does its battery last on marshmallow? Is is still a good phone to buy in 2017 if im on a budget?

  • Should I buy Samsung note 3 or samsung galaxy s5 in 2017???which one has a better battery life?plz suggest

  • Just as good as S7 to me....

  • I actually have used all versions of Samsung's UI and believe me when you start using Grace UX the first thing you'll notice besides the re-design is how much white there is all over the place (Hint: it's much more than before and initially you'll crave for more colour). It's funny since darker themes are supposed to be AMOLED's strong point. But I guess you'll get used to it with time....

  • To Obi Wan Kenobi: Lollipop and Marshmallow are all white themed so I don't know what they are complaining about. I'm yet to use Grace UX but based what I see from videos I think I prefer TouchWiz. Complain about the UI of Grace UX if you wish but don't complain about the colour theme which has been present from Samsung's version of Lollipop.

  • how i can do iif the screem in my cell phone is very mal, i can not see anything

  • Hmmm, quite a few people said they didn't like the white color used abundantly in Grace UX. Oh well, it's all about perspective. To each, his/her own, I guess.....

  • How can s5 get water damage, I thought it was waterproof?

  • Grace UI is the best better than S5 UI

  • its a good phone yes, when samsung made nice phones that u good swap battery and back cover. .and also ir blasters.. they are al lgone now buu :(

  • This phone is an amazing when it's working. I bought Samsung S5 6 months ago. I took a very good care of it. The device has never been dropped or exposed to a moisture. I didn't buy T Mobile insurance plan. When my phone broke I dealt directly with Samsung manufacturer. The mogul company had a simple answer: The device "has been found to be irreparable, due to a LIQUID DAMAGE." In my case it was absolutely untrue... I lost a lot of money and time to prove them wrong. No justice. DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG PRODUCTS.

  • S5 is such an amazing phone. I recently experienced Grace UX on an S7 and it made me appreciate the UI on S5 even more! It works perfectly as a daily driver.

  • Search for the firmware here: Download 6.0 android version and use odin in order to perform the update, I also have an S5 and performed this in order to update to marshmallow

  • Need help please how can I upgrade my s5 to the latest 6. O marshmallow since my handset isn't showing any updates it keep showing that my system is up to date but still at 5. 0. Can anyone clarify things to me would be grateful. Thanks.

  • Then what is the lates update of samsung s5?

  • nope, it has a write-only SD card slot.

  • Yes.Upto 128GB

  • The S5 NFC chip manufacturer is NXP semiconductors and the chip is called "PN547".

  • The S5 is not officially receiving the Nougat update, only S6 and onwards. If you want to run your S5 on the latest android, I recommend using a custom rom, look at the following link to XDA and theres quite a few nougat roms released.

  • Does it read the micro SD card?

  • It takes marshmallow

  • Will it receive Nougat update or not?

  • Hi! Do you know what's the NFC chip manufacturer ?? Thanks a lot! Daniel Marsili

  • listen if you want a good and yet not expensive phone to use I would definitely recommend this one

  • On paper, s5 has the advantage. But the choice depends on the user. Choose from android or ios. Id go for the iphone because im a happy customer since 2015.

  • Don't buy this phone, It won't receive anymore updates.

  • Yes, but only for 4g varient models..

  • Try to update the security features as the OS is updated (Samsung authority),therefore in future customers will be no more

  • You will not regret it Just update and rest then enjoy

  • Download phone INFO from play store it will check whether your phone is refurbished or not

  • You are in for some good surprises the overall OS stability is finally on base with the high range it was leading at the time released and battery is really good

  • Despite the Plastic build on the back panel i found the phone to be quit sturdy facing mor than a punch of falls and hits the screen protection levels to the name a Gorilla Happy owner since 2014

  • Samsung galaxy s5 is better i have had it for many years now.i also know a friend who has a lg g3 but isn't that great or tough. The s5 has a realy good front and rear camera, good battery life, fast charging and 16 GB memory.if you are getting the s5 get the s5 not the neo as the neo is not good at all

  • S5 or lg g3 which is will be best

  • I've dropped this phone on countless occasions and not once has the screen broke. Unlike the iPhone which breaks at the slightest knock. The S5 is a very tough phone.

  • vanessa..what country are you.. what branch of walwart...and you too nuclear coffee...tanx

  • Is this phone good?

  • Yes its a excellent phone

  • You can call Samsung customer service and ask if phone has been ever repaired. You will need Serial no. and IMEI no.

  • That was a special sale. I got one, 2 days ago it was sold out.

  • Go for S5. S5 mini is inferior from all angles when you compare with S5

  • Plese improve the notification look....

  • It's not your phone problem it's internet problem with instagram. Lot's of people i know facing this issue im also facing this on my desktop pc.

  • +pew To fix this problem. the first method is to soft reset or formate phone. Why? i recommend that because, on 3g or 4g you cannot upload any pic on instragram. its a hardware problem. soft reset will delete the temporary file and data. second method is to wait for update instragram and the third, just go browse to instragram.com with google chrome browser or other browser and sign in. This will really help you. I HOPE.

  • I have problem with instagram, i cant load pictures, videos, stories anything when my phone is on 3G or 4G, but on the wi fi works fine. Have anyone idea for soulution of my problem. Thank you

  • Battery life is awesome, camera is better than s6, LOL! Features are also much better than s7 or whatever (price to performance wise). I got pretty much new s5 for 130 euros (used, but looks and performs like new) Only cons i can think of: Autofocus sometimes sucks so much, macro shooting is sometimes literally impossible, takes UP TO 40 seconds to focus. Otherwise, the best of the best. Never overheats (Unlike similar perfomance z3, which sucked so much, the reason i swapped it out with s5, glad i did)

  • From where you ordered it guys? I can't find it in any local store

  • Me aswell. hehe. any day next week i'll get mine. :)

  • Yes, I have to choices as of the moment whether it's IP5s or this one. but I think i'll go for S5.

  • Agree by ar the most superior fone and it's the last of the removable best fone samsung has ever made. wish they can bring back similar model. No other fone come near i have s6 but in terms of performance camera battery this one beat the s6

  • best phone ever it has Good camera best performance good battery nothing else bt its de Best phone for Samsung it has ever made

  • How to convert s5 g906s from lolopop to marshmalo plzz any one

  • I have 3 phones 1 iphone 5s 1 samsung a5 2016 and s5 i like s5 most the rest are also good

  • YES!!!! Seriously this is A MONSTER!!! N complains and those who complain we have one thing to say. U didn't take care of yur phone, They don't produce phones like this anymore. TRULY A CLASSIC AND MASTERPIECE. I prefer this to S6 and S7 personally

  • After all s5 won the battle

  • The last Galaxy series that I have purchased and loved, REMOVABLE/REPLACEABLE BATTERY, does not over heat or blow up, compact, light, great primary camera 16mp better than S6/S7, yep!!! Best times when Samsung was steal making real quality phones.... Nowadays all they care about is mass producing junk disposable phones that blow up....

  • my phone find it difficult to create hotspots plz I need help seriously

  • do its lag playing high graphics games such as nova 3,fifa 16 and gangster Vegas???battery life is good or not for 2016???

  • Agreed this is truly an amazing one hell of a phone and literally a beast..a;; phones have bad points and good but weigh these points and the good completely outweigh the bad. In fact nothing to complain about. Only the back cover should have been more premium looking but that's ok it still looks good. Other than that no complains. Fast, steady and smooth, reliable, good colors, good camera and good battery life. Charging is fast too...great phone A TOTAL PACKAGE!!!!!!

  • This is still one of the Samsung's greatest gadget together with the S3 (I suppose)...Get it and you wont regret!!!

  • I have been with S5 for two good years now and it still gives all the utilities I want...a very good gadget that I am always with!!!

  • Yep last flaghsip with REPLACEABLE BATTERY, meaning longer life span than IN-Built battery.

  • Yeah you ahould buy s5 as it is one of the best smart phone Samsung ever made. I'm enjoying it's company.

  • Hello everyone, I was going to get myself an S5, i wanted to know, is S5 still good in 2016 ? as it is in my budget and with some good specs !

  • But the front camera is still good and clear for selfie if you compare with other brand using 2Mp camera.

  • It was software issue try to flash new software or update the phone

  • I have always loved Samsung but ever since I got my S5 last year, it has been nothing but problems!!!! It keeps shutting off & pulsing. I've been to a repair shop twice in which they claimed they sent it to Samsung & the 1st time the problem was some board inside the phone, the 2nd time I brought it in to be fixed as of course the problem was still happening, they said due to the scratches around my phone (which is always in its case), that is what's causing the phone to do that.......ummm what?? Of course I didn't listen to that crap & my phone seemed to be ok for a bit...until now...just shuts off completely & keeps pulsing. It won't let me reboot or anything. I am sooo NOT impressed with my Samsung phone & I don't think my next one will be a Samsung. This is very disappointing.

  • I can say this have better CAMERA QUALITY than S7 and doesn't over heat and safer since I can just replace the battery.

  • i am an Apple guy but i also use Android for communications, i would prefer S5 tho compared to iPhone 5s which is what you just did :)

  • I am from India. I had bought the iphone 5s 16gb last june for 40,000 rupees! And after a month I sold it to my friend for 24,000 rupees. And added an extra 5,000 and bought the samsung galaxy s5 for 29,000 rupees. This is the best android phone ever made. And iphone is just only a showoff only.

  • I've done this bust still facing that problem, should I reflashed it from service center?

  • I've a problem, my gallary, videos and pictures' permission is not being granted, it shows the message 'Unfortunately, DCMPROVIDER has stopped' after this gallary and vlc don't open.I've reset my phone thrice and also done hard reset too but still facing the same problem, what should I do now?

  • Off mobile & Press Power off Buttn &vol Down & Home until Cmng Rest Manu.

  • i have s4 since 4 year but I didn't face any problems. .my one's is working great

  • How can I do hard reset with recovery ?

  • w alikoum essalam Try Hard reset by entring in recovery mode

  • Assalam O Allaikum (greetings) I'm facing a problem, I have formatted (factory reset) my Galaxy S5, after it's reset it shows a message again and again when ever i open gallary or any kind of photo software. It shows following message. 'sorry,DCM Provider has stopped'. What is this?

  • Yes

  • i got s5 2 years now but all of sudden battery doesnt hold bought new one but phone keep on detting warm and power dont hold 1 day i need help dont know what to do

  • G906s 3gb ram 32gb is orignel....

  • Hi I face the same issue. My freind, we both face the problem of a faulty display. The low light green lines also happens when you enter a dark room with automatic light function and also when the battery charge is 10% or below when the light changing function gets disabled. This is an issue of display and you will need to get this fixed. If you have warranty, then go change it. This is a result of excessive use of phone on charging. Another reason could be that it was faulty at the time of purchase, but the first reason is more common.

  • You even try to use speaker phone. eco after eco and low light screen turns green and half of screen is there and the other has gone some where. I can't use this phone my samsung s3 work better I wish they fix the whole phone.

  • Samsung galaxy s5 is a very good phone, the marshmellow update is really good.the rear camera qualoty is soooo good, my photos are soo clear though.

  • Really cool phone there was improvement on processor and graphics card Awesome phone very strong graphics good for angry birds 2

  • I am disappoint that a phone with such excellent mega pixel for the rear camera, the front camera is so poor in terms of mega pix. I dont think that deep consideration was given to the front camera as you of other phone is 13mp rear and 5mp front. 2mp is unacceptable

  • Stop buying knock-offs; you won't have these problems.

  • I have had a total of four replacement phones of the same S5 Note within one year's time screens freeze the light dims it's very slow I can't watch a video without it pausing over and over it would ring without any notification my alarm would go off all the time now I have this V phone and with any here let me tell you and it's starting to act up again and I have nobody to complain to I keep getting replacement phones and they're just as bad as the other ones so beware

  • I have a big problem in my S5 the sreen flickering in the low light i don't know what is the solution

  • is it dual sim ?

  • After using Marshmallow for more than a month I'm ready to give a seasoned review. Battery life is the biggest concern for every smartphone user. Marshmallow does offer better battery life at least from my perspective. My S5 octa-core (G900H) is 2 years and 2 weeks old as of today. I am using the original battery that came with the phone and I'm still able to get a full day of fairly heavy usage before charging. When I first installed Marshmallow, I would lose 1% of battery power after 2 minutes when browsing via Wi-Fi. However, I got to understand that the OS was studying my usage pattern and after a week or so I saw improved battery life courtesy of the Doze Mode battery optimiser. After the OS and Doze Mode completed studying my usage pattern, I was able to access the Doze Mode feature once and for all after which I commanded Doze Mode to put ALL apps to stop running when the phone is sleeping. Only about two crucial apps cannot be put to sleep which is fine by me. After Doze Mode was set up, in using Wi-Fi, battery now loses 1% of power usually after 5 minutes of browsing. Not bad for a 2 year old battery. Now that the battery is out of the way I will talk about the other changes. Like I mentioned in my hands on review sometime ago, you have to input the password after a restart before you can use your fingerprint to unlock the phone. It seems annoying at first but eventually you get used to it. The overall speed of the S5 is much faster (providing you did a factory reset and wipe system cache). The UI is clean and smoother. The lag I use to see in the CALL LOG is no longer there and bringing up the dialler is much faster (even faster than the iphone 6 as I tested against with my co-worker's iphone on Saturday). Marshmallow provides greater speed than KitKat and Lollipop. My biggest gripe with Marshmallow is the way it handles the sending of e-mail. When an e-mail was sent previously you would see the word 'E-mail sent' in the status bar where the time time is shown right above the notification panel. Now you have to pull the notification panel down and if you are fast enough to pull it down before it is sent you will see E-mail sent in the notifications before it disappears one second after. If you look quick enough you may see an e-mail icon in the status bar with am arrow attached but that also disappears one second after. I send e-mails every day and the older method of seeing when mails were sent was useful. Nowadays I go to the sent folder more often to see if my mails were actually sent. The camera seems to focus faster and launches faster. It especially launches faster from the lock screen. Other than the e-mail gripe I really don't have a problem with Marshmallow. I would recommend it to every S5 user.

  • absolutely great, improved! but a little laggy (needs restart sometimes), but still OK, there is still no a better phone on the market

  • How shud i knw dat this an original s.5 i wanted to buy fr mt mum

  • Sir what model number should I buy?

  • How's the battery life after marshmallow update?

  • Sir can you tell me the model no of original S5 please...

  • Sir what model do you have?

  • I've had my Samsung Galaxy s5 for 16 months now, (running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow), and have had NO problems with it! I love this particular model because it has great specs as well as being dust-proof, water resistant, a replaceable battery, and replaceable SD card! Solid phone from my experience - with better specs than most! I take care of it and expect I'll keep it for a long time - especially due to the fact that I can replace the battery at some point in the future, as well as the SD card!

  • No, only custom unofficial rom. Blame Google or Qualcomm for not supporting this old CPU.

  • will it get nougat upgrade?

  • I'm using one plus X but come here to see if the galaxy s5 users which users the same processer sd801 here have any problems with the device after marshmallow update and have found that most of you are having issues and I'm having lots of issues to like crashers and the phone isn't as good as its been with Android lollipop. I guess sd801 (32bit) processer can't handle the latest Android in today's 64bit era
