Samsung Galaxy S6 active - User Reviews

  • i bout mine for about 150 € ebay

  • Need to see the price.....

  • No problems with this Samsung Galaxy S6 Active phone since I purchased it a few years back! HOWEVER~ The phone locked up at the end of August. I sent it back to Samsung for repairs and today, I get an email: repairs exceeded $668 US Dollars to fix it. Something about the mother board and the crystal face. It froze up on the black and white screen. I couldn't get it to reboot. It had a color screen show up but would not let me toggle through the menu! For that kind of money, it's time for a new one! I think it's CrAzY what they want to repair it!

  • This phone was lost on a kayaking trip and spent 13 days at the bottom of a river, was eventually recovered, and found to be in complete working order.

  • I've had this phone since 2015. True that without a case it's pretty rugged, but with my current SUPCASE and the Supershieldz Tempered Glass Screen Protector. Well, let's just say if someone asked me to throw my phone across the room(which I've done BTW), I'm not worried in the least and it's simply a monster. Unfortunately now, it's showing its age. The hardware can't keep up well with the latest software demands and the battery is starting to lose its charge suddenly. After 4 years of use I suppose I shouldn't complain all that much. Wish Samsung would continue to make the 'Active' variant.

  • Run over by a forklift??? You expect "smart" phone users to believe that

  • I purchased an s6 active in 2015. I have taken videos under water while snorkeling. I have dropped it while stand, on several occasions,, and it works perfectly. I even ran my active over with a forklift, and the phone still worked as the screen slowly blacked out. After having it repaired I am still satisfied with its endurance and performance. Why does Smsung not continue with same durability on the newer active phones?

  • Keyboard default did not work. Phone suddenly became locked when loading smartwatch software. Fell out pocket from chair height, cracks started on screen. Cracks continued to become worse until black screen within a week. For robustness score is zero yet it was the primary reason for its purchase. Phone lasted less than 3 months.

  • Whatever happened to the Loudspeaker test? It is one of the most crucial aspects of performance. It is very odd that GSM Arena has not bothered to publish it. Would it be identical to the vanilla S6? If so, why did they not mention it?

  • Yes you need dowloand the firmware and install Whit odin and then the updates by adb the instruction and link to download are there I upgraded my phone to nougat whiteout problem the only thinks the phone get factory reset you need backup first

  • It is a great device I love it, but the only things that I don't like are the lack of an SD card slot low, storage options and that they don't receive updates, other than that this is just marvelous!!!

  • I have on my notification bar mobile data turned off when is deactivated. Can anybodi tel me how to remove ? Is anoing...

  • I get the phone few days ago is not new. Its perform verry good not so much specification diference from the latest models o galaxy s... I have 2 conserns: One is regardind the batery, keep maximum one day of use and if i do not use internet so much 2 day. Second is regarding the signal that is not so good, i use the phone in Europe and in my office signal is not so good as was on my previos phone. Can anybody give me some tips regatding these issiues ? In rest the phone is great !

  • you have to use smart switch software on your computer

  • My Samsung S6 Active is NOT waterproof. I dropped it in the toilet for all of 10 sec (with a case on) and then bam the phone is broken. I did the overnight in a rice box and still a no go.

  • Can Any one tell me how to update this phone outside USA ? it is AT&T and I cant update it outside USA.

  • I Had the LG V10 for 2 and a Half years before it started to smoke. was a great phone. now have LG G6. It is OK.

  • Yes recently the case melted, the port looks burned, and charging cable connector melted on my s6 active.

  • I have beaten the crap out of this phone, I am naturally clumsy and heavily active. stepped on it slid it across the driveway, dropped it dozens of times - on tile, concrete, glass on rocks and onto the dirt into puddles and mud. I sometimes take showers with it and my blue ant pump waterproof headset - love it! I only have two complaints one is software based- updating past lollipop breaks the malis graphics drivers for the dolphin emulator. since it is an unrootable phone you cant undo the rom update- boo hoo right? and the other is the Bluetooth itself, it works great but when its in my pocket and say I'm using my chainsaw and I'm moving around I lose connection, or working in the yard and I kneel (general heavy activity) certain positions obfuscate the signal while in my pocket. now that's not really anyone's problem except Bluetooth itself. other than that this thing is a beast. oh the fact it doubles as my tv remote is nice (built in IR blaster) - was an unexpected treat.

  • I love this phone, had it almost 2 years. dropped it twice both times the screen protector broke but the phone is unharmed. I also left it on top of my car, had a cheap protector on the body, flung it off the top while driving. one hour later found it, the protector popped off, two tiny scratches on the corners of the phone upper left and lower right. No other damage. Worked perfectly. By far the best phone I have ever owned. I have had to "Motos" and would not have anything but a Samsung. This is a great instrument.

  • I made a lot of tests to this phone and I was suprised. but today I dropped it from 1meter and the display is not responding. The bluetooth was activeted and I talk all day like this!!

  • The plastic below the Back button cracked after 1 and a half years. I was using it naked and never dropped it. Can't be replaced without replacing the screen too, which is unscathed.

  • Using the S6 Active 1 and a half year already and can say it's the best phone for me personally I ever had. White camo case helping to prevent from overheating with the sun what's important in our hot climate. The phone already has many scratches on the case and corners, fall down on lava rocks, basalts (I do a lot of hiking) once sink in the sea water for 15 min until I found it at the sea bottom, it has really stressful life, but still working quite well. It has just 2 weak points IMHO: 1. Exposed to the sun longer time become a bit crazy. 2. After 18 months of using the battery life is definitely shorter after a full charge, if you have constantly Wi-Fi switched on (if you switch Wi-Fi off, you still have approx 30% of the battery at the end of the day).

  • shortcut button for many different functions of your choosing. I use it for camera.

  • what is the blue button for on the left side of the galaxy 6 active

  • Bought it used a year ago and this phone is indescribable and a pleasure to use right size and weight never let me down I'm going to keep it as a backup phone when I upgrade to a s8 this month .

  • In my opinion. I'd get the LG V10. I just bought a S6, and its ok, but u have to use the same battery. And the LG last longer on the battery. Plus, the memory on the S6 is internal. On the LG u can beef it up to 256g. I got the 32g, and thats cool, but if u want more on the S6. Ur stuck out. On the LG if u want more, get a bigger SD card. Wish i'd have known before i got the S6. Plus, the S6 is 5.1 on the screen size. On the LG, 5.7 on this screen.

  • Would not recommend the S6 Active to anyone. I accidentally dropped it in water and now the phone is unresponsive. I turned it off. Used a blow dryer and waited 48 hrs to turn it on. I have nothing but a pure white screen. Samsung won't do anything about it. Supposedly the S6 is waterproof to 4' 9" for 30 minutes in water. If anyone has one DON'T get it wet whatever you do. You'll be screwed over from there false advertising

  • Witch phone should I go, LG V10 or Samsung Galaxy S6 Active?

  • Hello 7.0 naught is better 6.0 but 7.0 1 problem WiFi auto disconnected ?

  • Picture quality is great from the 16MP primary camera, acceptable from the 5MP secondary. Video quality is top notch - had a couple of iPhone 7 users comment on how nice the video quality looked. Do wish it had an FM radio chip in it, but hey, it was a gift, so I can't really complain. Site says there isn't one, but NextRadio app says there is, and never have found a definitive answer, so I just assume there isn't. No card slot is a small negative, but the built-in 32GB is more than enough for my usage. Your mileage may vary. Dropped the phone in water for about 15 seconds by accident. The phone popped up a window saying "moisture detected", said to turn off for 24 hours and not to plug in to charge. Did as requested, worked just fine next day. Marshmallow was a big step up from Lollipop; the performance difference was noticeable. Got the update to Nougat about two weeks ago, and no difference (so far) in performance. At least they defaulted to having mobile hotspot in the pulldown menu finally. The blue light filter, contrary to what others have said, seems to work just fine. Don't like how the new brightness control is set up, though - in Marshmallow, the option for autobrightness was right out front; now, you have to touch the arrow to get it to show up. As expected with a two year old phone, the battery is draining faster than it did before. Never had any issues with charging. Using Waze constantly on trips along with hotspot (so the kids are happy and quiet) does make the back of the phone warm, but I'm not surprised at that. Call quality is great, clear and clean audio all around. Bluetooth pairing of headsets works without a hitch. Overall, very happy with my Active. The phone should easily last another couple of years before I have to consider an upgrade to a newer model.

  • Still loving this one! really affordable; Sadly is no more convenient anymore Right now there is some models with waaay better specs on the market for a little extra... the agm a8; as example ( the guy below inspired me xD )

  • Hare the new update with a passion.

  • I bought this phone as used of AT&T its not refurb from a small outlet...based on the shop keeper confidence e.g. he put the phone under the Jug Full of Water for 10 mins while turning on the camera. Place the call from another phone in the water. I got impressed & bought the phone. Well i was not supposed to do but i did following test on my own risk: Throw the phone to a wall with a normal power. Suddenly made a friend to catch my phone without informing him & throw the phone to him from 15feet distance, he dropped it rolled out on floor. He was shocked but phone was smilingly working :)..i tried this to my various friends. Open the kitchen sink tap with full flow let the water go inside from headphone jack & charging port for a while. Without making it dry i used to test it. Again it was smiling. This set is not only IP68 standard it does carry MIL-STD 810 i.e. Military Standard. Alhamdolillah it is absolutly f9 & each & every function/sensors all are pefectly doing well. Soon going to check it in mud. This is the 1st time i switched to use samsung phone and fall in love with it. Keep inventing such phones Samsung.

  • I love this phone. I've dropped it several times without a case and no cracks. I've dropped it in water and it still works no problem. You can even take pictures under water. Great phone 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

  • I live on a farm and once I was riding in my feild and my phone fell out of my pocket. At the time I didn't feel it so it sat there for 2 days under cow dung and rain...AND STILL WORKED. This is a amazing phone and I'll recommend it to anyone clumsy like me.

  • I have a Samsung Galaxy S6. I was satisfied with the software updates, until the April 15th update. IT IS HORRIBLE!!!! It removed the Picture Frame widget. If you are in the YouTube app,and are casting from you're cell to t.v.,the recent software update removed the option of the bar on mainscreen for pausing, skipping ahead, replaying next episode or movie. It also removed the shading on the keyboard, and notification bar,so that there is a constant glare, and replaced it with a "Blue Light Filter" that is COMPLETELY useless. When you back out of an App,insted of taking you back to the mainscreen,if you have some Apps bundled into an icon,it makes it so you do the whole process in reverse ALL OVER AGAIN!!(Example,go into the icon,go into Googleplay Books, book you want to read. When you're done, back out of your book, back out of Googleplay Books, back out of icon you have Googleplay Books bundled in,then mainscreen) This recent software update is a NIGHTMARE!!!! I hope the next update has VASTLY improved.

  • I recently purchased my s6 active new in the box from Walmart online through amazon.com

  • I went to a samsung store and asked about it and the guy told me the S6 Active was not available in my country. Is there any way of getting it officially from a store? Plan B: Can anyone tell me a 100% trustable online Smartphone Store that ships to Europe?

  • Does anyone know the loudspeaker tests? I want to know how loud it is for the three categories (noise...) If anyone knows let me know, thanks :)

  • Has anyone been having problems charger port or just the charger burning up

  • look mahn you really need to start tinking positive

  • i like your the way you think, but here is another idea to help people out. stop being carless and stop dropping your phone! are you 6 years old? i dropped my phone and my screen broke boohoo this phone sucks!

  • Hi could you please tell me , if i get a refurbished how would it be ? I mean that would be my first experience in getting refurbished s6 active what do you recommend

  • How Lucky you are! Mine fall from 12 inches and display stops working! Then, I bought another one. Broke the display again from 15 inches.

  • Will it have android 7.0 update? How does the phone work after some longer period?

  • FIRST OF ALL S6 ACTIVE IS A GOOD PHONE. To you all complaining people out there- Get your self a silicon case and a screen protector! Mine fall from 3 meters height and nothing happend, it fell into water couple times and it still works! Updated to marshmallow manually, everything works gloriously since the release, battery durability on idle increased. So for all of you having issues- first of all, ether you have a refurbished one, or you installed update incorrectly. Last note- you can wipe data/cache or make a hard reset could fix your issues.

  • Samsung Galaxy S6 resets turns off at will. Samsung customer care referred me to Sprint repair center, they couldn't fix the problem so they referred me to Samsung at Best Buy who told me Sprint probably broke phone take it back to the Sprint Store you purchased phone the manager may replace it. The manager at Sprint called Samsung Customer Care and told him to send me back to the Best Buy that said they could'take help me. SAMSUNG AND SPRINT SUCK STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THOSE CROOKS AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE. NEVER BUY SPRINT OR SAMSUNG PHONE.

  • Same thing happened to my S6Active -- Had it only about 10 months and it suddenly stopped accepting a charge. It went completely dead. I called Samsung. Sent it to Texas for repair. They sent a refurb phone and it was HORRIBLE. It wouldn't charge either. I set it aside for a few days until I could call and return it. When I picked it up and tried again, it charged!. Tried to use it. No success -- it kept freezing up. It would not allow a hard reset. Called Samsung again and they referred me to my carrier- AT&T. AT&T replaced the phone (again) with a second refurbished phone and it seems to be working okay for now. This is my third Samsung phone and the quality continues to decline.

  • Me too. Since mid December, when they pushed and update. Before that never had an issue.

  • this thing requires way too much time and attention. it seems to think it owns me. really annoying. wouldn't buy it again

  • I've had problems with my s6 active over heating when I'm not even using it and the battery keeps drastically decreasing. I've had this phone since 08/2015 - not sure why I'm having problems with it now.

  • S6 Active has died after minute immersion on 10 cm in water... I am shocked!!! And how protection of IP68?

  • Samsung makes the best phones man I am sorry you feel this way and that this happened to you. Now I have scratch resistant screen. it has fallen abour 7 times and case split open, sometimes face down, I have not even a scratch on the screen. everything works fine. Now Samsung and apple are the industry leaders. So Samsung brand or devices are better than alot of these others like ZTE, or Kyocera and Nokia whatever. Samsung has a Walk in repair facility in Richardson Texas. If you have any issues with their products. However, the usually the LCD screen is one main pricey item the life of a device once it is damaged, you are better off going to the junk yard. Now I did work for samsung, manufacturing their plant in Coppel TX, so if you ask me anything like PCB to screen, I do fix it myself so is not a problem but for lay people I know it is a headache. I wish I could help you but know you are far distant away. so I cant. good luck. I always go for Samsung models, very good software, very good key board, ring tones, durable...

  • My Galaxy s6 active lasted less than 1 month, and a 1.5 foot fall onto a rubberized mat. The LCD is cracked, and I've been quoted $350 for that fall. I wish I had time to make Samsung sorry for what they've done to me, but I'm a working man with a family to take care of and have no time to post this on every web-page and review-site on earth. So here this post sits-- when you read it, think of me using a flip phone for the next year and a half (until I can afford the next apple phone) because Samsung doesn't care-- and whatever you do, don't buy Samsung.

  • I've contacted Samsung customer support and been told that ANY damage, outside or inside the unit, will completely void the warranty so they were no help at all. Had I known what I know now when I bought the phone I would have assuredly bought the insurance and I recommend everyone that purchase the S6 Active buy the insurance. This phone is no more durable than any other phone and seems to be even less. Certainly less than an I-Phone, which I've have several of. Another problem is that the cost of the parts are quite expensive. The outer screen, digitizer and LCD are all glued together. If one of them cracks they all crack and the phone is useless. Other phones continue to work when the outer screen cracks but not this one. I had the first LCD crack repaired for a whopping $350! After cracking the outer screen I refuse to pay another $350 so I'm activating an old I-Phone. I will now scorch the earth on the internet regarding this horrible phone. The world needs to know about the poor design and abysmal customer service from Samsung. They say that a happy customer will tell one other person about their good experience and an unhappy one will tell ten about the bad one. I plan on telling thousands.

  • I had the same issue - 4G LTE connectively caused overheating and high battery usage. I forced it to used "WCDMA" only (3G+) and the problem went away. I almost threw the phone away. Uploads are slower now but the download speed seems to be about the same.

  • Hey did you notice any rust developing on the speaker grill after being in water? I used mine in a sauna and noticed that when the water dries rust form on the speaker grill. Maybe I don't understand chemistry and the rust only comes from hotter temperatures?

  • Which firmware was the update. I am currently running the very first marshmallow one and the only problem I had was the phone kept vibrating while charging causing it to overheat.

  • My S6 is 14 days past warranty and it is doing the same thing, charger is hot, phone will not charge, and screen is blank, a piece of junk.

  • Its should be waterproof anthony, I own one phone i think it has a rubber inside or the way its tightly inserted the sim slot.

  • I've have this phone a little over a year now. And despite a few issues I still love it. However, about a month or so after getting this phone I started noticing the charger was overheating a ton, not to mention the phone also. Shortly thereafter after one day the phone had over 40 percent charge and as I was on Facebook the phone completely shut off. I tried charging it and nothing. In a panic I dug out an old phone and started using that(still not able to power back on my s6active even after several attempts to charge it). It remained in my glove box for 2 months. Found it one day and decided to try to power it on and like magic the stupid thing powers on but completely dead. My question is... has anyone else had this issue? I am still using this device as of today without further problems but I cannot use the original charger because of the overheating issue and it makes me wonder if that is linked to the phone shutting off suddenly. Note: At&t basically told me I was out of luck since it was out of warranty and I didn't wanna pay my expensive insurance deductible.

  • I have just acquired this phone and hope what you folks posted on this comments/opinion section is true! Just wondering how the water proofing works since the sim slot seems to come off so easily! how does that make it waterproof?

  • hello together, iám happy owner of the S6 Active for 8 month now. The phone is outstanding! Best phone i ever had! Switched from a S5 to it. Samsung typical great manufacturing. Technicaly state of the Art 2nd Q 2015 with a fantastic Samsung manufactured rearcamera (. The Phones package is really tough. Survices a few 1m drops to the floor without any visual scratches or dents. I regulary put it into my trunks when i go swimming. No issues there either. For me the perfect phone!

  • That comment deserves to be made into a movie

  • for real? apple? tsss that sucks

  • Um no, Samsung had problems, becuase they released the battery before it was ready. They tried to cut corners. Even so they should have given the ip68 rating to the samsung galaxy s7/note 7 to the s8/note 8.

  • what did you end up doing

  • I've owned this phone since it's release a new it's a great durable phone hands down. I was extremely looking forward to purchasing a GEAR VR but finding out my gs6 active isn't compatible really sucks. I'm most definitely switching to apple because I'm not gonna buy a new phone just to use gear vr. It's been real, it's been fun.

  • Anyone had problems with the s6 active charger and charging port starting on fire while charging?

  • I've had my S6 active for two months, great phone until it fell from three feet and the rest is history. FYI in was in a case with tempered glass screen protector. The screen never cracked but the screen is permanently blank.

  • did you ever figure out what was causing your problem with sending your pictures? I'm having the same problem, Recipient receiving cut off pictures that I send.

  • Don't get anything Galaxy 6 they dogs am update n screwed up everyone's phone. Att has told me it's not fixable. I want my money back.

  • When do you think you will do another update to fix everyone's phones and put them back how they were that update ruined everyone's phone

  • Had phone 4 months fell out of my pocket and shattered screen. Its gonna be 250$ to replace screen.

  • I got this phone. Thank God! it awesome. Try to dip into fresh water n take video - still functioning. Keep charging port and headphone jack dry after put into water. Camera very clear. Don't drop it with intention. Just care for it like ordinary phone, and hope it extraordinary features stand to minor accident. If you got the one with removable battery cover, sure you got the counterfeit one. Try to dip into water then bye bye

  • I just ran over my s6 active with a back tire of a semi and it didn't even break. I'd say go with s6 active.

  • I need you guys help me out which phone is best this samsung S6 active or Motorola Droid Turbo?

  • Samsung Galaxy 6 Active had difficulty connecting to the network just prior to the warranty ending. 10 weeks later difficulty accelerated to warming up and not connecting to cellular. $700 phone is now a paperweight after 13 months of scant to moderate use. Your options are to purchase the insurance with Samsung. Device will cost the purchase price, plus the monthly insurance and a couple of deductibles, AKA $1100-$1250 over 30 months or $42 per month. Risk it and spend $54 per month like me. Samsung rushed their "olympic ad buy" Note device, placed customer safety second to profit and the galaxy they sold me was not a good value. I will pause before becoming their customer again.

  • Samsung it's a joke, as you can see what they did in the past to get famous

  • EXACTLY the same thing that happened to me, this phone sucks. Except mine also is draining battery like crazy now even when I am doing nothing. I have had it for not even two months and it is wifi only, overeahting like hell, and is just a bad overall phone. I had WAY higher expectations, never buying a Samsung phone again.

  • You retrieved your sinking phone within two of the three minutes in the pacific ocean? You heard your phone fall from the side of a moving automobile? You saw your phone lying in the middle of the street from your rear view mirror? yeah. ok.

  • Use the Google messenger app off playstore that should stop the picture issue

  • This phone is absolutely horrible. I switched to a Samsung after many friends told me how great it is. It was a fantastic phone until it stopped working. I had to reset it everyday... Now I'm certain I will not get another phone from Samsung. With an Apple phone, I never had a ridiculous problem like this.

  • I don't believe you.

  • I switched from the I phone to Samsung after seeing such good picture quality in a friends Samsung. I am frequently on the seas fishing or diving and thought the Samsung s6 active would be a good choice.......What a piece of shit it really is. From overheating to short battery lifespan to by no means water proof or water resistant for that matter. I just recently returned from a trip to Exuma Bahamas, on the very second day of this trip my Samsung s6 was shot all because of a small bit of water dropping on the gad damn phone as I exited the water and stood over my phone while drying off. No phone, no pics, no contact for the remainder of the trip. A total piece of shit. Stick to cameras and forget phones.

  • Mine is doing the exact same thing. I loved this phone up until this point. AT&T told me the same thing so I contacted Samsung who basically said oh well you are out of warranty. This was my first Samsung phone but the way they treat their customers is why I'm going back to Apple now. It's pretty bad when you buy a $600+ phone and it basically turns into WiFi only just after a year of use. It's also crazy that with all of the Note 7 battery overheating issues Samsung is having, they aren't jumping at fixing or replacing our S6 Actives that are having the same overheating issues.

  • First one died within 4 months for no apparent reason; second one just died after about 3 months. Total. Piece. Of. Crap.

  • The worst phone I have ever had. I have sent it back three times. The speakers are terrible. I get tired of people saying they can't hear me. Samsung gets an "F" for this phone!!!!!

  • It is truly an amazing phone. With my previous devices, I always had problems with the durability of the device. This device is unbelievable. I was on a canoe about two months ago on the ocean, with my phone in my pocket. Then I accidentally flipped the canoe and was throw out in the pacific ocean. My phone was under water for a good 2-3 minutes, but still functions perfectly. Another time, I put my phone on top of my car to find my keys to the car. I forgot about the phone and started driving with the phone on top of the car. When I took a sharp turn, I heard the a loud noise behind the car so I checked my mirror, and my phone was lying in the middle of a major street. I quickly pulled over to go retrieve my phone, but while running towards my phone, I saw multiple cars run over it. I was expecting the phone is be completely destroyed and non-functional. However, when I picked it up, it functioned perfectly fine. Yeah I have some scrapes and little cracks on my screen, but it functions as good as new. If you are a person who is active or puts your phone is harsh situations, this phone is the absolute best phone to go with. I love my phone. I haven't talked about the functionality of the phone, but I will keep it short because this was a long review. It functions flawlessly. Its camera is clear and incredible.

  • I also was burned while keeping my s6 in my pocket at work all day. I thought I had brushed up against some chemicals but my jeans showed no signs of anything like that. The next day confirmed it was the phone, as I was further blistered and it became dark and much more than uncomfortable.

  • I got 2 Galaxy S 6 Actives in April and 1 already broke. It fell off a shelf from 4' up and busted, then I sat on it and the phone just folded. Litteraly. Worst phone. Not rugged and not indestructible at all. Both phone batteries are already shot. Battery lasts about 6-7 hours.

  • flush with water all good Put in sea water 10cm deep take few second and stop working Not water resistant . Use before LG g great phone and function of LG G 2 much better , more simple and more opinions Not sure why LG don't make something good as LG G2

  • Please bring this phone to the rest of the world. I want this phone so much but no news that will come to europe anywere

  • I'm having an issue with my samsung galaxy s6 active, when i send pictures to someone it cuts them in half and distorts the color...any suggestions

  • I dropped S6 Active many times when I took selfie photos with my friends. It was dropped on concrete surface from about 1.8 meter but the phone still OK except the corners got denting.

  • The galaxy s6 active doesn't have a back cover and never had a cover for the charging port. Sounds like you have the wrong phone.

  • When charging it will tend to get hot cause of the speed charging which is completely normal cause it is pushing more juice through it at a higher pace, but you can cool it off with the press of a button on the boost app. It will cool your phone down very quick so for me that's not an issue cause if you don't want it to heat up don't speed charge and just use the wireless charging pad and you will be fine.

  • I'm with you and I will say That this has been my best phone yet I've dropped it over and over on the concrete from high levels and still no issue and no cracks. Tested it with submerging it under water and no problems at all, this phone is seriously durable to the max proven twice over and I will say and give kudos to Samsung and can't see what the fuss is with everyone else but no issue with mine.

  • As someone old enough to have owned a Motorola flip, this is the ONLY phone that has completely broken on me! After taking an 18" fall while crouching down. It's comical. Figured I'd go for the active after running my HTC over with the car after it apparently fell out of my pocket. With only a thin rubber cover it suffer a slightly cracked screen. Luckily I kept it so I can switch out the sim when the galaxy isn't working. One more thing to consider. Due to the back cover popping off at the slightest disturbance and lack of port covers (that reminds me. charge port cover fell off at some point) I wouldn't even think of getting it near water. I'm not sure of improvements for the 7. This is based solely on the durability of the 6s active.

  • Either I've had terrible luck with Samsung phones or they aren't built well. My first phone lasted a little over a year and had water damage after being dropped into a pool at 3ft for less than 10 seconds. My second phone fell from my pocket and shattered, it only lasted 2 weeks. Now my 3rd phone's camera lense has shattered, even with an Otter Box on it. Time to switch back to iPhone

  • me to same stuff did the gps stop working

  • so the s6 active has had a major issue since the update. july 2016 my phone won't get reception, won't call or text , overheats hardcore. took it into att. the tech guy said he delt with 23 cases yesterday same issues with the s6. so samsung beta tested random s6 active models adding crap with the update. so now i'm up a creek without a paddle. warranty ran out july 6th. att said at this time nothing they can do for me. to get ahold of samsung. i can tell u that you really can't get ahold of them when you cant dial out on your phone.

  • There is a heat sensor near the flash-light. make sure you don't cover it by any mean, otherwise phone will overheat. Sometimes, if there is some pending updates make batteries drain very fast. and for LTE to 2G connection type *#*#4636#*#* and go to Set preferred network type.

  • Definitely not water proof. Don't put it in water!!! Mine didn't survive 10 sec. completely submerged. Died forever. The only good thing is battery life, compared to s6.

  • The buttons...the damn buttons! I'm very physically active and keep pressing every.single.button on the phone while handling it, using it, or just putting it in my pocket. This will change all settings from brightness to time. It be history. Going with a SE, as it is small enough not to interfere with my ACTIVE lifestyle.

  • My Wife and I each have the G-S6-Active (White/Camo & Blue/Camo). I can't even begin to say how disappointed we are with these phones. Mine has had 2 falls from less than 4ft and broken the screen. Once the screen cracks it is useless and is $100+ for repair. (So much for Samsung's claim it can handle a 4ft fall. Hers was in a sock in her sports top while she was working out and it got sweat in it causing the screen to stop working properly and the Home button doesn't work at all. How is this water resistant and submersible? I have had smart phones ever since the T-Mobile Pocket PC and have never been this disappointed. (AT&T: "Built for an active lifestyle, the Galaxy S6 active is dustproof, shock- and water-resistant, and is engineered to withstand virtually anything that everyday life sends your way.") Just not what life sends it's way. (Samsung: Water resistant "5 feet for 30 minutes", Drop resistance, "Protected against impact/shock from drop onto flat surface of less than 4 feet and Protected against vibration, temperature extremes, humidity, and high altitude." Yea Right!! Is this false advertising? YES! and AT&T is the only carrier, is there a reason for this? If it does not hold up to what you have been told it will handle, don't expect to get anything more than a; Well better luck to you next time! from AT&T. It would seem so many people are having the same issues with this sub-standard product, has anyone started a class action lawsuit against Samsung and AT&T yet? The best thing I can recommend to anyone looking at a cell phone (Stay clear of Samsung's "Active" line of products. Apparently "Active" to them is rolling in a chair across the carpeted office floor...

  • I've had my phone 6 months when I dropped it. The screen cracked and quit working. I called Samsung and they said i had to pay 260 bucks to fix it. What a scam.

  • Got this phone and it's been problem afteright problem. Won't sync emails, lost all my bookmarks, can't bookmark, the video sending via text is horrible, they update without your permission and after every update something goes wrong, use to have a iPhone thought I'd try this out, mistake big mistake, not to mention ATT is horrible service experience as well

  • Water Proof means that you can take it underwater to a rated depth, kinda like a Casio G-Shock watch! Water resistant means that you can spill water on it and it will survive. Dunking it under water is not the same as spilling a class of water on it!

  • I have the EXACT same problem, and my Internet doesn't work now, only when I have WiFi and occasionally when the 4g lte flips on

  • There is a difference between 'water resistant' and 'water proof' :)

  • occasionally swim with mine. i avoid warmer waters as it can wear down the seals on the phone. once in a blue moon do i take it into the ocean, i rinse with water after. i regularly shower with mine.

  • You are so lucky

  • Did any one upgrade to marshmallows. I don't want go flashing rom .

  • best phone I've ever had. I forgot it was in my bathing suit pocket and swam in the ocean for roughly 30 minutes with my son and it survived. I didnt use any old tales of rice or anything, I simply dried it with my beach towel and used as normal. This is an awesome phone, Ive dropped on numerous occasions without a case and still no cracks or defects. I would highly recommend this phone for anyone in construction as myself, for me its a no brainer.

  • Love My phone. Can't get wet too long though. The specs say 30 minutes, nope try 5 minutes. Once wet longer than 5 minutes the speaker fails to operate. You have to turn the phone off to dry for a couple hours before it can work properly which is very poor comparing to Sanyo's lower line Hydro. I had a Hydro that could take a water beating. This Samsung S6 Active, SUCKS when wet. Shame on you Samsung.

  • The S6 active is not very active. The phone is definitely not "water resistant" as Samsung advertises their device. DO NOT TAKE NEAR WATER. Additionally, a dumb concept to have a underwater camera when the phone is definitely not "water resistant."

  • I am having the same overheating problem. I have burnt my skin when it was in my pocket. It uses battery quickly also. The young man at AT&T said there was a recall but I had to go direct through Samsung. Has anyone else heard about this?

  • My S6Active overheats. It gets so hot it has burned my skin when I had it in my pocket. I have taken it to AT&T several times. They have put apps on, Taken apps off, replaced the sim card and now tell me to contact Samsung about a recall. Is there a recall on these phones?

  • I agree. My son is now on his 2nd phone. Has shattered twice and won't cover yet it's not suppose to shatter. And had water damage and was only in water for 2 seconds. Claim it's waterproof but again won't cover. We have already spent 600$ for 2 phones and now want us to pay another 200$ for another phone. All the claims about how great this phone is are false!!!!!!

  • Perhaps, those of us who are unhappy could start a class action lawsuit? This phone isn't up to par with Samsung's promises.

  • Its very beutiful

  • I have dropped mine face down on bricks and no problems I am not going to purposely put it in water to see what it will do. I have no complaints

  • The phone itself has an "Aqua" mode for taking photos underwater. It should be able to support that with it's hardware. Water ingress at a depth of less than 1.5 m for less than a few seconds is unacceptable for a phone that is rated for more.

  • I am at my wits end. The gs6 active is a POS. I have had them three months. Them meaning 3 months in after 3 trips to warranty a day countless calls to customer service they replaced my phone that I am financing new and never worked properly with a refurbished one that I still owe 500 on for the next 2 and a half years. It doesn't know how to switch from WIFI to data. It sucks worse than the first one at home on WiFi and worse than my gs3 used to. None of the talk to stuff works consistently so I can't put addresses in Google if I'm lost or talk to text and if it does work it gets most words wrong. Every few days all of my apps disappear from all screens and no buttons will work so I have to turn off and then back on. This is the stupidest smart phone ever. I hate it and I'm stuck with it. And to boot I could have bought a used or refurbished one on ebay for half the price. Absolute BS. For a single mom, having to upgrade out of necessity really sucks and it's just way too much to pay for a product that AT&T or Samsung won't stand behind or give me a phone that works properly

  • I have had my s6 active for 3+ months and have dropped it countless times from higher than any other phone could take and no cracks. Also i swam with it and no damage whatsoever;so i don't know if all your phones were defective but mine is perfectly fine.

  • Same thing happened to me. Had to pay for a new phone. Don't say it can go underwater if it cant!! Very upset with them!!

  • Wow! you blame the manufacturer because you cant read the fine print. It's water resistant, not waterproof. Big difference there. If the phone said it was IPX7 compliant that would mean it is waterproof up to 1 meter (3.3 feet) for 15 minutes. Still not completely waterproof. Water resistant means it can take water splashes and very light rain and be okay. Take responsibility for your own actions.

  • Does anyone know if this phone will receive marshmallow? And when?

  • Just bought the S7 Active (water resistant) and tried to take a selfie underwater in swimming pool within 3 ft of water and then there after screen went out totally and phone is totally black with water damage. Tried AT&T and they would not back it up and or Samsung either of course. Bad promo/ false advertisement ! They are forcing us to use insurance with asurion and documents have been sent 3X and they say they have yet to receive them. What is really going on with all this red tape and why advertise this type of phone if it does not with stand what they advertise ? Very Angry

  • amen dude, you are right since its their fault... it's stupid that ppl try to blame their problems on the manufacturers even though they are just crap at protecting tech, i can admit that im shit at taking care of tech but they are blaming them even though its their fault

  • that's because you are a clutz, not false advertising. it's all YOUR fault you are having these problems, so don't try to blame it on Samsung. i don't have an s6 active or any samsung phone but it's your fault

  • Samsung S6 Active...forgot to include.

  • I dropped my phone and the screen now stays black although I know it is charged and turned on. It vibrates to touch and the volume can go up and down. The blue flashing light is there as well. But...of no use! I've dropped my iPhones countless times and have not had any damage. I even washed my iPhone for about 5 minutes, put it in rice and it worked the next day (left it on the laundry basket before loading on a sleepy night, lol). I would NEVER buy a Samsung and the only reason I have this one is because it was issued to me as a work phone.

  • Guys, it's bad quality control. Some are rugged. Some are not at all.

  • samsung 6 active is junk. slow and third time to replace screen! i\'m done!!

  • S6 active is JUNK! I've busted 4 screens in less than 2 months! Bust 1 s5 active screen in 2 years.

  • I purchased the regular Samsung 5 it has been dropped countless times and I have never had a problem. I got the active 5 for my daughter it shattered soon after we had it, we had insurance but still had to pay $ 199.00 deductible. They replaced it with an Active 6 we have only had it a few months the screen is black. There are no scratches or dings but a repair shop told me the LED Screen underneath the glass can break. He said they have repaired at least 5 in the last couple of weeks. We will never purchase another Active product, it has not proved to be durable as advertised.

  • I'm confused, I have no idea how people are having problems. I dropped my phone earlier today on concrete while getting out of my car. I've dropped the phone already 5 times within 6 months from 5 feet and more, have dropped it in the sink, used it in the rain, and let it sit in the shower. I have no case or screen protector, and no matter what I seem to abuse it with, I only have three small scratches on the plastic metal-looking sides. The falls weren't pretty either, as the phone has bounced, landed flat on the screen, or flat on its back. Yet the phone endures, and has never overheated. Don't even get me started on how long the battery lasts and how fast it charges. I love this phone, I definitely want the s7, but for right now, I don't understand where these complaints are coming from.

  • I had the same thing happen to me exactly, I was told that it was military grade plastic, scratch resistant and it only fell 2 ft. and completely shatard. I called a local repair guy and because the phone was so new, I couldn't get it repaired. $200 deductible! I just bought a case and have been waiting for a repair shop for the fix. Funny thing now is that a new s6 active cost about the same as the repair. If I only knew that the product was subpar I would have bought a case for it.

  • Your the one that dropped it in water. They shouldn't have to pay for your careless mistake.

  • I hope that is not your opinion of our/U>S Armed Forces. if that the case then you/yourself are not the smarted person I know. FYI... you can't compare the product make by any companies to the quality of the men/women. there no relations of the company that made the product/s to man/woman who served. even, if there are but i seriously doubt it in this case

  • Its not even been a year and im having issues with my phone, I should say I been having issues since I got it but now is not charging😠😠😠 I put in to charge for like an hour and it only went to 35% Im not happy

  • Its not even been a year and im having issues with my phone, I should say I been having issues since I got it but now is not charging😠😠😠 I put in to charge for like an hour and it only went to 35% Im not happy

  • I have had my s6 active for less than 3 months and lightly bumped the screen taking it out of my case and the screen shattered like an egg shell. If this what what is considered military grade it must be a bunch of sissies in the military that gave it the grade. I for one will never own another piece of junk samsung makes, sells,or is even affiliated with.

  • My phone is overheating while charging to the point it literally burns my hand my husband had the same phone but his is a different color his dosent overheat like mine

  • There's actually an S7 active

  • Ive had mine for 9 months and I've dropped it a couple hundred times i'm sure of that. its been in water a few times too and always comes out working after.. however I did drop it in the pool yesterday and it finally gave up on me.. customer service said it might be because of depth. anyway. even though I'm not happy bout the deductible i have to pay my insurance to get a new phone now, i still think it's a pretty durable phone!! would choose it again any day!

  • Purchased the Samsung 6 Active for its durability and it stopped working after ONLY 3 days. Took the phone to AT&T and was told it has a PRESSURE CRACK...really. The AT&T REP. could tell the phone had not been dropped, but said the phone was placed in my purse or pocket the wrong way. Samsung Knows this phone is BS yet they continue to sell it their customers and expect for you to pay to have it fixed. Funny thing...Samsung made sure to not have a Galaxy S7 ACTIVE. Samsung is a total RIP OFF!!!

  • purchased this "active" phone thinking i was getting a durable phone...wrong....after owning it for five days had it in my shirt pocket squatted down it fell out. wasnt even worried that it broke or anything...picked it up black screen done...they did cover it under warranty but i was with out a phone for a week...6 mos. later second one just using it normally suddenly nothing just goes dead...again under warranty but without a phone for a week...spent 700 thinking i wouldnt have to buy one again for years since it is so DURABLE....NOT HAPPY WITH IT.

  • I'm a off shore boat captain I drop this phone in 6o feet water.good thing diver was down fixing gas line.Iknow for a fact it stay under for at least 26 minutes when the diver come up he said captain going get me one.and said your phone is OK and still work like it's brand new

  • I'm a off shore boat captain I drop this phone in 6o feet water.good thing diver was down fixing gas line.Iknow for a fact it stay under for at least 26 minutes when the diver come up he said captain going get me one.and said your phone is OK and still work like it's brand new

  • I'm seeing all these comments about how the phone isn't as tough as people were lead to believe among other issues. I've had this phone for around four months now and the only problem I've ever faced with it was the occasional stutter. I've dropped it at least five times now with a majority of those being from around three or four feet and all I have to show for it is minor scratch on the back. From my own experience this phone is tough as hell and performs like a champ. I would definitely recommend this phone to someone whose looking for an excellent smartphone that isn't afraid of a lot of abuse.

  • We've had the phone for 7 months and it was dropped in the bathtub. Now it doesn't work. Both At&T and Samsung say it's not covered because it's not a manufacturer defect. So I get to continue to pay for a phone I can't use. Sounds like false advertising to me. If I knew this before, I would have purchased a less expensive phone.

  • You've dripped it 10 times before that... It's a cell phone, not a basketball. Try that with any other phone.

  • absolutely love this device. i have the s7 now, but i prfer the s6 active by far.

  • sound mistake No SD slot, not removable battery in Active 6 ...

  • got this phone because it was an active so no case needed. To be honest I've had iPhones and now this one. I haven't dropped my or got my phones Wet but keep it in my jeans front pocket all the time walking or sitting and have had zero complaints love it

  • I wonder if the whole "gorilla glass 4" theory is even true. I have the same phone and now I'm extra worried that I might break mine.

  • I recently got an Active based on the idea that it should be a little more durable. It fell from a seated position about 2 feet to the ground and cracked the screen. Its 35 days old, now I have to pay $200 in deductible fees to make an insurance claim. I feel this is an inferior product and I feel I'm stuck with a piece of junk that I'm affraid to use.

  • Had it for 8 months dropped it about 10 times all from 3 feet or less. Just dropped it about 1 ft yesterday and AT&T says its a internal crack and that voids the warranty. I thought this phone was supposed to be tough. Do not buy this phone it is shit!

  • I don't know what you people are talking about. My home is surrounded by dusty fields and I fish a lot...but I never have to worry with this phone. I can take videos underwater and the dust storms are not a problem with this S6 Active, unlike my iPhone 6, which was severely damaged by dust. I've dropped it on concrete and only received a small, almost unnoticeable, smooth bump. WiFi and service are great and I live in a very unpopulated rural area. I'd buy this phone twice if I could. I've had both the Active and Edge, and while the Edge is more aesthetically pleasing, the Active is a phone you can actually hold without fear of breaking it. Love it. Two thumbs up

  • got this phone because it was an active so no case needed. To be honest I've had iPhones and now this one. I haven't dropped my or got my phones Wet but keep it in my jeans front pocket all the time walking or sitting and have had zero complaints love it

  • This is my second one within a month and already starting same problems turning off and on black out screen and flickering ugh so diappointing

  • Same problem with my son's phone, was told the same B.S.

  • Oh, and also if you're taking it into salt water or something, soak it in distilled water to extract the salt residue from the phone after or at least fresh water (although I would really recommend distilled water, it's not so expensive when you compare it to the phone). People have taken the phone into salt water and without proper cleaning the ports began to corrode. So much for salt resistant.

  • I would probably put a screen protector on the phone if you are buying it. Corning Gorilla Glass 4 is supposed to be more shatter resistant, but it seems to scratch very easily. Basically, since I received my current phone about 2 weeks ago, it's either been sitting face-up on my desk or in my pockets with the display facing inward as to avoid damage (I've made sure that none of my pockets have sand or grit in them, because there have been complaints that Gorilla Glass is very susceptible to scratching by such particles) and there are already two inch-long scratches in the display. They are almost un-noticeable, but you can observe them by reflecting direct sunlight off of the display. They're not the worst thing in the world. In fact, you can't even feel them at all. But from an "active" phone which people will expect to survive a fall down a hill, it's very disappointing. Granted, it's a pretty expensive phone, but you should not tout it as what it isn't.

  • I was interested in this device even if i don't live in the US, but it seems that 95% of people owning one is disappointed with it.. Bad signal & wifi, screen breaking like normal glass and Lagwiz.. No thx! I'm going with Sony X Performance.

  • UPDATED LINK

  • I know someone who loves the phone. Virtually indestructible. He's quit the tech with electronics and recommended it to me. I just ordered one. I guess I'll see for myself.

  • I feel sorry for all the others who posted with ask the disappointing opinions. Please learn how to use a smartphone. I've been using it for a month and feel very comfortable with it. I took it for underwater selfies and video up to 2ft. I twice dropped it deliberately and it feel five times accidentally but I was lucky up till now. As compared to other phones, only a few drops would've resulted with dents or scratches for sure. Don't forget the hardcore battery backup. 20 hrs on normal usage Wi-Fi and cellular running. This is a good phone to keep rather than buying much expensive phones and buying casings and pouches for them. The rugged version gives a safer feel which makes it less vulnerable to getting damaged.

  • I am very disappointed in the Galaxy S6 Active. They have " over engineered " it and insulated it so much so that the internal antenna is poorly functioning and reception for calls and wifi is greatly diminished. The Galaxy S6 Active is terrible for call and wifi quality. I had no problems with the Galaxy5 but it was too sensitive to water and stopped working. I tried 2 separate devices and the problems were exactly the same. . Samsung and AT&T cannot agree on anything except to point fingers at each other. I've gone reverse in service,, very poor reception, etc. Too bad the Galaxy S6 Active a decent camera trying to pose as a mobile phone.

  • ive had the s6 active for maybe two months and the screen cracked after i gently set it on a rock while hiking. now my phone looks like there's a spider web across it. the galaxy s5 active was so much better, i dropped it countless times and there wasnt so much as a scratch on it. so much for "indestructible"

  • I have had mine only 4 months.I have had nothing but issues.freezing up,wifi not working, network issues, apps not working, slow Internet the list goes on.

  • Its a strong phone. Anyway i added it an tempered glass .

  • I was really disappointed. I had this phone 1 week, I dropped it looking at it on my table, just inches from my hand to the table, and the screen broke. Inches!! How is this sturdy??? Actve?? Never had a chance to be active w it! And now, it will be 350-400 to repair. Very disappointed. I would think twice b4 buying this phone.

  • Just learn how to use smartphones mate x

  • I haven't tried the sonim xp7 yet but looks indestructible

  • terrible. I had the s6 active for less than 3 months and from no fault of my own the screen ble. I even went to at&t before it happened because my touch screen wasnt working. They inspected it and determined there was NO damage done on my part and put me on the phone with warranty. As I was on the phone my screen started to bleed AFTER the inspection. The at&t rep confirmed to Samsung warranty that it was not my fault, and I was told it wasnt covered by warranty if there is a bleed. I was furious. I had to get a new one from asurion and pay 200$. So much for a durable phone. It broke without me even dropping it. Now my new replacement routinely freezes, really really often. I will never buy another samsung product. They are junk.

  • just concern on the how sensitive is this phone ...with ATT I get only two bars even in their store...the rep. told me not to worry...

  • Heck yeah, I'm going on my 3rd phone this year

  • if you are having slowdown/freezing issues after a firmware update, you may need a factory reset. unfortunately, the transition to new versions of android isn't as smooth as it should be so your apps can get really buggy due to the firmware. i do a factory reset after every major update (like going from android 5.0 to 5.01) and my phone operation is still smooth as silk.

  • S6 Active will get android 6.0 or not ??????

  • we had same issue my grandaughters phone fell out of her pocket when she went to get her coat off of the sofa screen cracked and jarred components on inside .samsung stated same thing, att put it on your insurence you have with a 200 deductable ,so at this point my grandaughter has no phone and i am paying for something can use

  • Yes I have that same issue and I am on phone # 2 and still have this same issue. I was able to send mine in under warranty. I cam on here to see if others were also having this problem!

  • HATE IT! Click on something and it can take over 10 seconds to respond! Tired of rebooting all the time to try and fix. Have cleared cache many times. Just a piece of junk. Can't wait to get rid of it.

  • Great performance BUT>>>>>>> few pictures underwater (no more than 1 mt) and some pictures at the beach (just waves splashing) and water get inside the phone. IP68 not true on this case.

  • Samsung need to do same deasing Active smartphone but with this news generathion specs: 1.Display.-4.7"inches FHD - Super Amoled - CGG 4 2.Chipset.- Snapdragon 820 or Exynos 8890 (not a mid-range chipset) 3.Camera.- 12 & 5 MP - 1080/60fps 4.Battery.-2600mAh 5.USB.- 3.0 Type-C Bealive or not this have to be new smartphone how milion people like to buy!!!

  • Like the Xperia Z5 just from Samsung.

  • The new waiting S7 Active hope to contained this specs: 1.Display.- 5.1inches 4K - Super Amoled - CGG4 2.Memory.- 4 GB LPDDR4 3.Chipset.- Snapdragon 820 - exynos 8890 4.USB.- Type-C 5.Battery.- 3500mAh

  • i don't like Samsung but i am sure they are not made for your own wants and demands, if the glass cracked in your pocket it's your fault, if you can't hear calls or texts tones, it's still your fault, you're deaf AF, the case was not made to be drawback for the features, it compliments the upgraded features from the normal ones

  • no, the phone is garbage, u can't even hear it ring unless you leave it with the glass side down. If you have a case that covers the speaker you will miss every message and call. it also has a p.o.s. camera lens that cracked in my pocket.

  • Write your BS on FB not a review forum.

  • Right now this is considered the best phone on the line for most things. The other is a IPhone 6s, but personal opinion coming from a hard working person who also is in the military, this phone holds its ground. It is tough has semi good protection from outside elements, but like any personal electronic devise I would by protection for it. Most stores have yet to put s6 active cases on their walls, but you can buy them online or from the guy in the mall (we all know the one). Positive to buying online you can get a custom one made for as low as about $20. I just had a more expensive one made for $35 to my spec. So its not that hard to find one. so as far as programming goes it is as of right now number one rated also for ease of use. Design is a little more bulky though, but I don't mind means more to it. To sum it up I do think it is worth the money.

  • I am very disappointed with this phone. It fell 2 feet from car to grass and screen cracked in corner. I went to best buy to get case to prevent further damage and was told there are not any cases for this phone other than through 3rd vendor. After looking at phone they stated this phone is advertised as rugged and should not have cracked. This is why I chose it as I had had just regular s3 with sprint. They told me to take to samsung repair of which i did. They said would have to send off and if find my fault would bill $199.00 to me. I would not have access to a loaner phone. Seriously? I just got the phone 121515 so called att to see if they can assist by giving new and differ7phone........nope, was told would have to pay $200 deductible to get new one. I'm so rattled that I am going to just go back to sprint and see if they will pay me out of contract to get me back so I can get a new and diff7phone. S6 active is very false advertising. No service Samsung store a serious joke!! Who can be without phone for who knows how long. Being new customer and barely in 2 months seem att would just replace no charge........just bad experience period. Don't get this phone thinking it is rugged because of self contain case and what they falsely advertise it as!!!!!!!

  • should I buy this phone tomorrow or is there any other phone better then this one if someone can answer me as soon as possible it will be nice I will be checking any update btw no iphones thanks :)

  • this phone is very cool

  • I notice a lot of people having their phone turn "off". If you have this problem. Check to see if your LED light on the front still flickers. If so, ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS hold on to the POWER, VOLUME DOWN, and HOME BUTTON. Whats going to happen is that your phone will show the intro screen as if you turned it on (But really its on the entire time) and then you're good. The reason why this happens.. im not too sure, Its always been a problem on the S4. I never got the S5. So no, theres nothing wrong with the phone, I am guessing the OS locks up and crashes for some reason. This problem occurs with Iphones as well and works just the same. HOLLA!!!

  • Well after messing with it for a while it came back on. I pressed all three bottoms at the bottom anb the righttop side for about 10 seconds it came back on like when you first charge it so im happy its on but still not sure what happened that I had to do all that. Try it if yours is not responding correctly.

  • This galaxy s 6 SUCKS it after two weeks will not turn back on and this is the second time it has happened. It was not droped or anything of that nature. It was in my locker at work cause there are no phones allowed in the wor place. I used it to check bus scheduled before work and after work it would not turn back on. Im still in the process of paying a 199.00 deductible on the last time this happened. Now I dont know what AT&T will say after a second time. Why would they even sell this crap? Well I want some answers. Ill be dammed if I dont get some.

  • This is the second time it just cut off and wont come back o. I thought it was the battery but nothing still. I have insurance on it and they make me pay a two hundred dollar deductible. This is really not worth it. Im serious I did nothing to it no drops no bumps nothing but it will no come back on. Ive lost everything on it twice now and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy!!! If your thinking about it STOP!!!!!! Donot do it. I promise it is nothing but trouble......

  • Hi ! I am in Greece too and I am interested in buying it. They appeared on ebay.co.uk , unlocked so it must work. Did you get yours? If yes, how is it ? Are you satisfied with it ? Thanks, Anca

  • I bought the S6active and this is the third time it just turned off and wouldn't turn back on even after plugging it up to a charger ......

  • I have the same problem. I am using version 5.1.1. I did not have this problem prior to the most recent update.

  • Love the phone but it is not shock proof! getting thru to Samsung (and apparently there is no customer service available in the UNITED STATES) and trying to make them understand the problem is like pulling teeth! My screen broke after a very short drop on a wood floor and the screen shattered! Samsung will replace the screen for a fee of course. The phone is advertised as nearly indestructible...I believe I have an inferior built phone!

  • Hi ! I am interested in buying this phone but I can only find it in the US. Did you unlock it yourself or bought it already unlocked ? Is it worth buying ?

  • You need to unlock the sim first. The phone you just bought is sim-locked.

  • Try with a hammer

  • I bought this Samsung galaxy S6 active but it need pin code to connect sim card. please any one can help me?

  • How to get to back off galaxy 6 active

  • How to get to back off galaxy 6 active

  • Is anyone else having issues with vibrate on phone calls?? When I get a call my phone won't vibrate so my options are to either have it on silent or have the ringer all the way up. Vibration works for text messages and everything else just not phone calls. It used to vibrate when got a call. No, I haven't dropped it and yes, I've checked all settings... Can anyone help me?? This is serious issue. I miss a lot of calls because I can't always have my ringer on...

  • I am using this on T-Mobile, and have not had anyone mention any problems with my speakerphone, but will keep this in mind for the future.

  • You can hide the content by going to sound and notifications and notifications on lock screen I think and it'll give you three options.. 1.show all content 2. Hide all. Or disable notifications. I hide it.. it still shows the sender or what app the notification is coming from but can't read it till unlocked

  • I've had this for a week and keep hearing comments from those I call that the speakerphone sounds bad. Speaker itself did some crackling tonight. Nice phone otherwise but the call issues may cause me to return.

  • I've talked to almost all providers in Slovenia, we're not getting the s6 active in Slovenia at all, never.

  • When there samsung galaxy s6 active in Europe / Slovenia? Thanks for the reply.

  • When there samsung galaxy s6 active in Europe / Slovenia? Thanks for the reply.

  • I had the Galaxy S3 and S4 and actually got my girlfriend the S4 Active because I didn't want us to have the same phone and she loves it. I decided to go with S6 Active since she likes her S4 Active and the extended battery life vs S6. Sure it's not at attractive as the S6 or S6 edge cousin's but the truth is both of them need a strong case because of the fragility of both models and it makes S6 and S6 Active essentially the same but the Active gets about 35% more battery life and the model is sturdy even without a case in comparison. If you have AT&T and don't need the sexiest Galaxy it's worth it

  • Im sorry but I hate this phone I had an iPhone 4 before and it was better the first month then snapchat and a lot of other thing take forever to load I can't even use snapchat anynore

  • I ha e tried everything and so have others. I can't switch of text preview without turning all notifications off for messages completely. Any tips?

  • You most definitely can make those changes without losing all notifications of a message. While you cannot turn data off in the drop down menu, you can pretty easily from "settings" and "connections". Not quite sure about your call log issue...seems unique

  • i hate that you cant hide contents of a text message when you get one. so everyone can see who messaged you and what they are messaging you. you can turn it off but it turns off everything to do with that message no sound, no vibrate, nothing just a little red 1 on your envelope. also when someone calls you it lists when the last call you had made or received from this person and the last text and what it says while the call is coming through. they need to sort that out some how. also no data of/on option on the quick drop down menu.

  • this phone is very bulky compared to the galaxy s 4 had it 2 wks and it fell from car console and broke screen..............so much for gorilla glass now I am concerned about other things that may go wrong

  • During conversations, audio cuts out while I am speaking so people on the other end think I have hung up. Is anyone else having this recurring issue? I cannot get AT&T to do anything.

  • It's actually considered water and damage "resistant." It says so on the specs page of this site. That's how they avoid lawsuits.

  • My AT&T usage manager quit working after the 5.1.1 update also. It comes up "unfortunately usage manager has stopped" I get the same message every time I check. ATT&T store didn't seem to care.

  • There's a lot of comments of people hating this phone but it's not a bad phone, it's the fact that it's brand new and is going to have some problems, I have one and it's just fine, facebook, apps, quickness, definitely better than my old iPhone 4. One of the best phones on the market and considering the fact that they're using a better processor than even the Galaxy 5, it's obviously not the phone, it's just the bad ones of the bunch.

  • Try going to settings>Search>Start typing message, something should pop up about default messaging app.

  • may be a dumb question but my bro just got this phone and wants to know "where is the text icon" or do you have to pay to get one?

  • try to reboot phone.

  • I love my S6 Active , no issues at all. Loved my s4 Active also.

  • What do you do at samsung, have you worked there long?...... you realy need to get out a bit.

  • It's slow. It takes 10 minutes to get map directions to calculate. Snapchat is a thing of my past with the active. It just doesn't work anymore. It freezes for minutes at a time. I had to get a replacement within a week because the phone would lock and not work for HOURS. I hate this phone and I am a huge android fan.

  • 32 gb memory is way too small in such phone, which supports 4K video. Even 1080 video take 1 mb/ sec so what one can do with 4K video recorder with just 32 gb memory. It's useless for the low memory. If they sell half of the price, I'll not buy it. Epic fall!

  • I love my Galaxy S6 Active, however after the 5.1.1 update I noticed my Usage manager Widget does not work. It's such a convenient widget to have; too bad it doesn't work anymore.

  • I have the s6 and had the same problem with Facebook. Went to the Amazon app store and installed from there. Works as expected, don't update from play until they fix the issue.

  • I noticed the same thing. Boy was I upset. Then I took the time to look through the apps and realized that there is a app called Multi Facebook and it works gr8. It's just a little more advanced than the normal one you get. Hope this helps :)

  • WOW ON the phone with AT&T now and they say they can't send me another type of phone, just because of the battery and no face book issue. WOW really? they what me to sign another contract??? Why would I want to do that if they are not complying to the first contract of a working cell phone.

  • I have been through over 3 Samsung cell phones got talked into a Samsung galaxy S6 active and AT&T says even though it is said to be water proof and damage proof it isn't and I lost face book on it now. You can't post pics onto facebook by going to the internet and logging onto facebook that way, I HATE THIS PHONE!!! The phone has to be charged several times a day!!! HOW in HEAVEN did it get a good rating??? WOW NO more Samsung products for me!@

  • Yes, Stop using facebook, and go outside and have a joyfull life

  • Facebook mobile app no longer compatible with Galaxy s6 active! Any ideas why?

  • Lies. It's guaranteed to be waterproof and break proof or free replacement. That's why I bought this and not the s6 edge

  • My Facebook has been locked out for days any suggestions on how to fix it

  • It looks to me, that battery time which gives manufacturers has absolutely no relation to real life test.

  • Can not load Facebook on the S6 Active

  • I just bought this phone after having an iPhone 4s for almost 2 years. The apps that are actually available for it are usually bad, with constant ad popups and the phone hardly being able to keep up with standard apps like Snapchat. All this I could put up with... If the back facing speaker weren't already ruined! This phone is supposed to be STURDY? Honestly if you want a phone that performs well and are worried about it breaking, just get a GOOD smartphone and spend the money on a case, because this thing is not worth the money. $120 out of a young adult's pocket... I feel robbed.

  • Where do I find instruction to operate my new phone?

  • Thank you, I'm thinkin it six also!! Just happened to this site by accident! Back to ATT tomorrow!!!!!! Going back to my 5 I guess! 😕

  • Bought two S6 Active devices - black for me and white for my wife. Easy to setup and handle. Look shiny and beautiful. Don't know why some consider it ugly. The phone is super fast and the battery lasts at least 3 to 5 days with average usage of calls, taking pictures and browsing (no games). The pictures are awesome even in low light conditions. Video is great too. No lag when texting, browsing or making calls. It's great! :-) No problems whatsoever with anything. I guess most people who are happy with the phone do not comment so that's why it looks like everybody here is having problems :-) It's a great phone - get it! :-)

  • I am on my 3rd S6 in as many months. They have all been warranty replacements. It runs slow when typing email and I have to stop to let it catch up often. I have to reset it 2-3 times a day to get it to work right. The blue tooth connection to my car often lets you hear the songs while talking on the phone. not happy with the product and wish I had my S4 back. I am about to request a different model device as I have had no luck with this one repeatedly.

  • The same exact thing happened to me and I had wait for the battery to die so that it would reset,as you can't remove the battery on the S6 active

  • I purchased the S6 active in June, less than 48 hrs later the phone wouldn't power on, AT&T replaced it for me at the store, less than 6 months later it has done it again. The phone just shut down and won't power back on. Samsung wants me to send it in with an approx 9 - 11 day turnaround and I do not have an extra phone for a backup. When I ask what the problem is, I get no answer. I will not purchase any Samsung product again, I had a similar experience with the Samsung "Delve" phone, I believe was the name of it several years ago.

  • It won't work.

  • I hate this phone, nothing "proof" about it. Water damage after the first month of use, I had to do an insurance claim, wasn't covered by the warranty. Perhaps, a class action lawsuit needs to be researched.

  • Be careful around water with your phone. I had my phone a month before "water damage" took its toll.

  • Hi guys !!If i buy s6 active from USA, will S6 active work in Greece network?? GSM 900, GSM 1800,4G thanks!!!

  • I'm more or less trying to talk myself into a GS6 over iPhone 6s (upgrading from an iPhone 5) and I have read multiple comparison reviews and urge you to open up your mind and read ANY UNBIASED review and you're wrong. Sure the GS6 may come out on top in most (if not all) comparisons, but most reviews will state near the end that you can't go wrong with either phone and the GS6 is marginally better than the 6s (not "10 years ahead").

  • Tempered glass protects against crack....

  • Yes but they don't understand

  • Same here

  • Screen easily cracks. Mine got small crack but stopped functioning. Many issues with USB - device thinks docking station is connected etc. Look for it on Google.

  • Screen protector protects your screen from scratch.. Not crack..

  • I want to buy one in italy , is this posible? What i need to do?

  • just got the s6 active. i absolutly love it. i take a lot of pics of grandbabies. and they r awesome, pics are so clear..

  • They claim it's everything proof but we had a glass screen protector that cost 40 on it daughter dropped the phone broke that screen protector and cracked phone screen phone is 3 weeks old call at &t they want to charge u 199 dollars to fix it thru insurance call Samsung they won't do anything now this is Thier excellent anything proof phone that they advertise broke after being dropped once it's false advertising just paid 600 for a phone now want all this money to fix there product that they claim is so awesome false advertising

  • No card slot? No deal!

  • s6 next level

  • I think people are starting to finally realize that droid is the better choice

  • Droid devices are so much better that apple products, people are finally noticing now.

  • Talking about the s6 active

  • Where is the download toggle, I hate the function when my texts zoom with the volume

  • I do not understand all this talk of glass breaking. Currently own a Samsung Ruby but need to replace it due to the time always changing on its own incorrectly and the phone ringer randomly working sometimes and other times not. None the less this phone has dropped tons of times, once from five stories: the glass has never broke. Its hard to believe that this strength never carried on to later models.

  • Good News: Its working in Europe/Switzerland! I bought this phone at AT&T in USA and now use it in Europe/Switzerland. All you have to do is to go to this page: AT&T will send you an email in about 2 days with the unlock code and the howto. My Galaxy S6 Active is now connetced with my carrier (Swisscom) and it works with LTE and everything.

  • or maybe your husband lied to you...

  • This phone Is amazing. I dropped it off of my porch which is close to 9 feet off the ground and it landed straight flat on its face glass side down. I was like no it's not going to ever work again. Then I went down picked it up and nothing but a couple small dents. This gorilla glass is amazing. I broke over 6 iPhone screens dropping it a couple inches off the ground. Heck iPhone screens break by themselves if you have the phone for over a month. It just self destructs. I'm so glad I swithched to Galaxy. Not only is the technology in this phone 10 years advanced from Apple but the build of these phones are nearly indestructible. And you can't forget the waterproof on the active models. They are latterly waterproof without a stupid life proof case. It's amazing how much Samsung destroys the market. They are creating a monopoly. These phones are incomparable to apple iPhones. They are not even in the same league anymore. Apple is like preschool t-ball while Samsung is an Olympic all American professional baseball team

  • The phone IS fantastic. Put it inside an otterbox and it will be invincible as well.

  • This phone was great until my husband was sitting outside on the ground and the phone slipped out his pocket barely 3inchee from the ground and the entire screen shattered!!! I mean shattered like a thin wine glass so much for gorilla glass my. Samsung will repair it for a whopping $240!!! Cmon Samsung what the hell this phone is supposed to be "active" not even close! Never again will I buy a Samsung I'm team iPhone 100% from now on your customer service is horrible. The phone is 3 weeks old btw ✋🏼😒

  • I've always had an iPhone and I was extremely excited to get the new S6 Active but a little over a week of me purchasing the phone the i started to get the black screen with the "X" for the gear VR, also it says that my port is connected when its not and the power sharing mode will turn on randomly. I thought maybe I had just pressed something wrong so I kept it, then about a week later it started doing it again and hasnt stopped since, sometimes it takes hours for it to correct itself. its very frustrating and samsung wants me to send my phone in for a few weeks to see if they can fix it but i use my phone for work so i cant go 3 weeks without a phone. basically im screwed and i refuse to get a refurbished device through an insurance claim when ive had mine for less than a month. Samsung doesnt want to help me out at all, im done with this company already.

  • This phone is fantastic!

  • hi frndz! i bought samsung s3 few days ago even i was so worried for its battery performance.but after rooting my phone it solved my problem now my battery gives longer life. after installing greenify [officially rooted app] battery saver app from play store, battery is longer than my rooted phone.so if you are really concerned about s3's battery packup i suggest you to root phone and install greenify app and enjoy.if you dont want to root your phone then also you can install this app or install deep sleep battery saver and increse your battery life for some extend.

  • I have a Nexus 6 with one of the most fragile large screens out there. Tempered glass has saved my phone twice, once from a 6 foot drop onto rough blacktop. Cracks the tempered glass, not your screen. Hope that helps you out!

  • False advertisement.... And fails for still not having expandable storage via microSD, Sony Xperia Z3c eats this fodder phone.

  • By default, can it be used on another GSM operators beside at&t? or is it locked by at&t?

  • Lesson learned : "be careful and don't DROP your phone next time!"

  • Oh I bought this awesome phone and with in a month dropped it maybe a foot and creaked the screen . I sent it to Samsung where it still is after a month . They made me pay 238 bucks before I sent it and now they claim they don't have the parts to fix their own phone . I can't wait to get the piece of crap back so I can sell it and buy an I phone like the smart people buy . I hate Samsung !

  • good luck i had a small chip they said itwould void the warranty

  • many Customers say that their handset got the screen cracked or Black as it falled down from either a high or low place. this phone is fragile even though they pretend and claim it to be transport and thermal shock resistant. would a shatter proof end up the delimma?!

  • Iv only had mine for a few days now pulled my pants down to use the bathroom and it didn't even fall a half of a foot mabye 5 inches and the screen broke but I can still use it but come on the only reason I got the phone is bc it was supposed to b active and it is suppose to have a military rating and b tough but in my opinion it's not to tough to fall a half of foot and break

  • I got mine a couple weeks ago and so far have taken it surfing 4 to 5 foot swells, 2 days in a row had it in a arm band to hold it while in the surf. Took video while waves crashed over me to see if it could handle this and it did without a hitch... Used it with back country navigator the other day for a all mountain mtb ride at san Juan trail and again without a hitch...... We lead an extremely active lifestyle and don't stop , needed a phone to keep up. I have a note 5 for business so wasn't worried too much about frying a phone as I have a back up... LOVE THIS PHONE.... Theres pics on my Instagram account of using it thejeepshack ... I did however get the black screen (software issue) with the vr command going on in back ground and a black screen with a X in a corner..... Apparently this has happened to others... I went ahead and wiped partition cache but it did it again later.... So I swapped it out the new phone is flawless.... Wish I had waited on note 5 for the note 5 active....

  • i have had my s6 active for one month and so far i have droped in muddy ditch and a bucket of water and it still going strong best phone i ever had !

  • I just got a Galaxy S6 Active about two months ago. I am aware of its features and its ability to be waterproof and shock proof. However, I just recently dropped my phone for the first time, It fell out of my jacket pocket while bending down so it wasn't that big of a drop, maybe only a couple of inches. There is a small indentation on the corner but it is barely noticeable. The screen now shows weird colors and looks like blotches of ink splattered on my phone. The screen is fully intact and the ONLY physical damage on my phone is the small scratch/ding. Everything else on the phone works, it's just hard to see and work with due to the discoloration of the screen. I am still eligible for the warranty because I only had it for a couple months. However, I'm scared that when I send in my phone they will decline my replacement due to the small ding. Has anyone else have this problem? I also feel that if I do get declined, they are promoting false advertisement for this phone.

  • I just got the Samsung Galaxy S6 and I've only had it for a couple months, so I'm still eligible for the 1 year warranty. However, I just recently dropped my phone on accident and it created a small scratch/ding to the corner like any other phone. This was the first time I dropped my phone since I got it. After a few hours passed I noticed my screen was turning up different colors(black/pink/purple/blue), a couple hours later it started to spread. I brought it in to AT&T and they had me call warranty. Will they not replace my phone if they find the small ding?

  • so when this pretty giant monster will be available in morocco ?!

  • Well u should just go 2 samsung and get a new 1 for free

  • My S3 has 16GB internal and 64GB SD card 80% used... what am I supposed to do w/ 32GB????

  • Of course, it goes without saying that you will have difficulty getting used to an entirely new interface. That's like going from Windows to Mac, or from an automatic transmission to a manual; if you have only experienced one and go to the other, you will experience a bit of headache. Also, go ahead and mention a SINGLE cell phone manufacturer that covers screen damage as a free replacement under warranty. There is none. Only now is HTC offering 'uh oh protection', and goodness knows they'll find a way to screw someone over with that as well. Glass is glass, and glass will break if hit the right way, Gorilla Glass or not. Get a tempered screen protector. But don't try to use your uninformed opinion to try to dissuade people from getting a device that's actually a pretty capable device. I've watched drop test after drop test online featuring this device and it has survived falls that other phones definitely would not have survived. If you don't want to spend $700 on a device that could break, then don't get a smartphone, because they're ALL like this. LG, Samsung, Apple, SONY, all the major designers of smartphones do NOT offer any recourse for a cracked screen. Also, you can find the parts online and replace it yourself if you are capable, for way less than the manufacturer would perform it for. The thing about smartphones is, even though they are advertised as resilient, they are still devices made of plastic and glass, and are still capable of being broken. Just because it is advertised as shock-resistant and water resistant, does NOT imply that it is impervious, and you should do a little more research and use some common sense before deciding that something is a piece of junk. I'm sure you can find a NOKIA 3310 online, those things are indestructible.

  • buy it from america and unlock it to the carrier you want

  • When will it be available in Holland?

  • Is it available in the UAE, Middle East? If not, when will they release?

  • will it be available in jamaica, if so when.

  • When will it be in South Africa

  • When will it be available in Europe?

  • I do believe what he tells. Forget all the "proof" thingy, it is not fully "proof", and don't try anything that challenge the "proof" limit of the phone. If he like the phone, then just treat it as a normal phone that need to be take care in normal usage, and don't try to accidentally dropping it, every smartphone will break no matter how they claim can survive the drop test, glass is still a glass. And for the Android UI, if he don't like it, then just forget this phone. Nothing wrong with the UI actually, it is just a matter of personal preference and customization, more on the way of using it, rather than being said as an issue.

  • I agree on the interface part where Android interface is totally different from iPhone IOS. It take time to learn if we switching from one to another (not just Touch Wiz matter, it is very different among brand, even those claimed powered by the same Android OS version). People will get used to it after the learning curve, but it certainly But on the phone damage, I do not agree it is totally user fault. I would call it the false advertisement or false information that make people believe this phone is much more "proof" than others. Take for screen crack, the phone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, and is MIL-STD-810G certified - salt, dust, humidity, rain, vibration, solar radiation, transport and thermal shock resistant. So, this means we can be more careless, and the phone should survive all the drop, shocks, but end up it doesn't. So now we bought a phone that has all the "proof" certified, but end up is user fault if user break it? But the advertisement do promote those feature that the phone can survive. There is also no detail measure on how much force the phone can take before causing the phone break. (I know those thing are impossible to be answer by Samsung as it will break their reputation. All they can do is continue to blame user and continue to say their phone is very durable) Then the water proof thing that has been debate for years on warranty and user fault, so letting the water go inside the phone is user fault again? or continue blaming user not use it properly where flap are not closed properly, phone back cover is not closed properly, or used it in salt water that break the phone? Or blame user dunk the phone for too long, over 30 minute? I would say, if neither the phone can survive, then stop promoting those non-sense advantages. Now, we end up getting something that is far from what it intend to be, and they come out all sort of excuse blaming user careless if the thing is broken. This is just like the iPhone 6/6+ bendgate cases that continue blaming on user mishandling on it, rather than blaming the phone built durability. So iPhone is a piece of device that need extra caring on using it, and if it is bended, it is user fault again? Also, what is the point of telling the complain are just very less? Problem is still a problem, and it won't solve by shifting the topic around.

  • Really?

  • I just paid att $200 to replace a 2month old s6 active that went up in smoke from being charged in my work truck. battery was at 50% and was on charger for 10-15 minutes while at a customers house. get back to smell burning and drop phone due to excessive heat. att customer service says too bad not covered under warranty. what a bunch of crooks.

  • All water resistance smartphone should be bundled with water proof headset or something right

  • Well said! I just got the phone today and I'm glad I upgraded. The phone is not break proof, but I have less to worry about than the S6.

  • Yes, only offered for AT&T currently.

  • Re: "Does this model have USB OTG? Since it only comes with 32GB with no SD-card option, USB OTG is a dealbreaker for me." Yes, it does have USB OTG!

  • Does this model have USB OTG? Since it only comes with 32GB with no SD-card option, USB OTG is a dealbreaker for me.

  • DON'T BE FOOLED - my S6 Active suffered a 3-foot drop onto pavement and shattered, inoperable. Dead. data lost, $250 in cost to replace (this is using ATTs so-called protection)..... now I like the phone, but the process of transitioning to a new handset is horrible (kudos to Apple here) and the delicate nature of the phone now requires me to put it in a case, and given that it is larger because it is 'active' now I have a very large device to carry around. SHAME ON SAMSUNG!!!!

  • Is this a true samsung phone?

  • Yeah, your the man dude.

  • Sorry u could not replace.

  • I rellay Expected this phon very high quilaty

  • I totally understand your frustration. There is nothing more frustrating than having phone issues within days after purchasing a new device. Especially after spending several hundreds of dollars and committing yourself to a contract. That sucks your screen cracked.. Very unfortunate but you have to understand that water, dust, heat and shock proof does not mean the glass screen is shatter proof. Glass is glass.... That is why it is very important to buy a tempered glass screen protector.... Especially if you work in an extreme environment. I know this is not what you want to hear but the reality is, you need to take some responsibility for what happened to your phone. The rugged outside of the phone is meant to protect the delicate internals. I'm sure... Minus the cracked screen.... Your phone works just fine. Just because the phone is an active variant doesn't mean it's beyond getting damaged in any way. The screen is glass and its exposed. There is no way to fully protect it. There are some things the user has to be responsible for. When I bought mine... I was excited to not need a case any more but I knew I had better buy tempered glass screen protector to help reinforce and protect the display. Displays are fragile and as you found out... If you hit it just right, it doesn't matter how far it falls from... 2ft or 20ft.... If it hits just right, it's gonna break. That's not the phones fault..... It's not the users fault.... It just is what it is.... Although it is the users responsibility to aid in preventing the display from cracking due to a freak accident.... Now as far as your problems with the interface.... Once again.. It sounds like a user issue.... Not a phone issue. It sounds like you are new to android and haven't quite figured it out yet. With android... Your options are damn near limitless.... If you dont like Samsung's interface, download a different home launcher much like almost every android user does. Especially with touchwiz. Obviously... If you are coming from years with an iPhone there is going to be a slight learning curve but it's nothing you won't get used to. Who knows... You may end up loving your S6 active... I suggest you fix the display, get a tempored glass screen protector, do your home work in regards to android and download a different home launcher..... Give it another chance. I understand your frustration... I get it... I really do... But nothing that has happened in regards to what you posted.... Is the phones or Samsung's fault... I am not a fan of any one particular device or manufacturer... I just love smartphone technology... And I can honestly say... After owning almost every top end device known to man over the last few years(including multiple iphones).. The S6 active is one of the best devices I have used..

  • I bought the phone two days ago and dropped it at work. I was promised this would be the perfect rugged phone for working in a wet environment and could handle my needs. It fell out of my shirt pocket while bending over and a quarter of the screen broke from this 1 or 2 foot fall. To answer another posters question- no this is not under warranty. This "active" phone which cost 700 dollars will cost 200 dollars under att warranty or 250 to repair by Samsung. I will never ever again buy any of their products or let any friends or family. Shockproof means absolutely nothing I have seen many other phones take much more damage and the manufacturers will actually stand by their product. The actual interface is horrendous, if you are used to an iPhone expect at least a week of fiddling with settings to get the device anywhere near usable. I am only 2 days in and there is not enough room here for me to list the multitude of headaches I've had. I took it back to att the next day and it took 2 employees 25 minutes to show.me how to remap keys, set up my contacts correctly, and other basic things. All in all this is a terrible and expenaive phone and I implore anyone considering it to stop.

  • I bought the phone a month back, the phone fell just once while walking and the display is cracked. and the touch doesn't seem to function well now. Can i get it replace free under warranty ?

  • back to an old design of s4.. can samsung create a water/dust proof device with slim and elegant design like sony does? how about the s5?

  • While the memory leak is undesirable, it isn't a hardware issue. It is a firmware and kernel issue that can be and will be fixed at the 5.1 update. Regardless, I am loving the S6 Active and haven't seen much lag (at all). The camera and waterproofing set it way above any other device I would consider. I was a bit skeptical with only 3GB Ram but during the initial setup, the phone ripped through installations and still let me play without much lag. On my Note 3, it would have been frustrating. I think you are expecting too great of improvements from one year to the next. There will always be room for improvement and this device rocks!

  • price are not flash on screen

  • I wouldn't say all the phones lol

  • sweat=salt

  • Does it Support 4G? Band 40 (2300)? Except for This One, S6 Active is the Phone of Good Battery Life with Browsing and Playback...

  • where can i find this on the market? Can i buy it in France!!!!

  • I waiting, when this is coming (DUOS) -model!.

  • I think people exaggerate with this matter. You have Dropbox, Google Drive, or Box to upload in the cloud all documents, images, etc.

  • I was hoping to buy this phone. S6 active but i would not buy it now. Only 32gb internal storage, no microsd card. I hope samsung will produce asap a 128gb version so i would definitely buy it.

  • I think u have to press them

  • Why do you talk like Galaxy S6 and it's variants are the only phones with memory leak issues? Currently all the phones that run Android Lollipop have the same issue. Not just S6 and it's variants.

  • Do the buttons work on touch or just press?

  • Man,,,Finally, I read a response from someone that mentions the disappointing memory leak catastrophe that plagues the S6 and its variants. Yes, this phone has amazing pieces. Great build quality, great camera, great display and now with the active it offers protection from the elements as well as the inevitable human accident prone person. However, great pieces does not make a great phone and they certainly don't equate to a great user experience which for me is the most important element of a phone. The pieces of this phone are not put together in a way that renders each piece a compliment to the other. The pieces are just there and whenever you put something together with no real thought going into how all its pieces are going to work together then something is gonna get missed or messed up.In this case it's the memory management issue of the s6 and its variants. It makes efficiently multi tasking virtually impossible and extremely frustrating. Samsung has quietly acknowledged the problem and has promised a fix with a future patch update which it has yet to deliver. Primarily because there is no way to fix it post production. This means that all the people who purchased this phone the first few weeks it was available to order are most likely stuck with what they have. Others, that purchased the phone recently, the second wave of buyers, most likely have devices that will not give birth to the same issue due to the fact the problem was remedied during production. They probably have no idea the problem was ever a problem and think that people like us that are mentioning it are just maliciously bashing Samsung. No....its not malicious..... They earned this bashing. I waited for my s6 for months. I was at the door of my local AT&T store the morning of its release to purchase mine. 14 days and a warranty exchange later it was returned for a refund. I now have an LG G4 which happens to be the best phone I've ever owned. I guess everything happens for a reason. With projected sales numbers upwards of 50 million units, I'm sure good ol Sammy can stand to loose a customer.....or 2.

  • This phone features is just insane. But it's annoying that Sammy won't make it available to markets in Africa.

  • The SAR levels are low. Samsung has the lowest levels in the industry. Motorola on the other hand are the top 3 for SAR. This will be my next phone. The battery life seems insane.

  • Samsung's using dirty marketing tricks like Apple so that Poeple would buy the expensive 65 Gb Then, and 128gb version After. The lack of the micro SD slot is a downgrade. It's a politic to force poeple use cloud service Too!! i mean what they would have lost if they have Supported it with micro SD. The non removable battery is A real delimma ! what to do if this masterpiece freezes ?!

  • It's just awesome!

  • Yes 0.42 and 0.48. The "highest" SAR value I have ever seen on a mobile phone. Nice try though.

  • no micro sd slat and no radio but there is a dangerous part that is SAR value in new Samsung phones.samsung new ohones have high SAR and that's very very dangerous for human and healthy.most of new Samsung phones have the most SAR in mobiles.because Samsung makes many of phones with aluminum or metal and that increase SAR and .... just htc and apple phones with metal body have the normal SAR. BE AWARE OF THAT SAMSUNG METAL PHONES HAVE VERY HIGH SAR ,SO THEY ARE VERY DANGROUS FOR HEALTY.

  • Living in cave is better too.

  • Anyone knows if it will be available in Europe? If so, when?

  • They ruined the phone with 32gb storage, at least they could add a card slot.

  • When it will be released for other countries??

  • I'm sure there will be at least 64 GB model

  • But this model doesnt have USB-host. It always says "Micro USB 2.0, USB-host" in the specs if the model have USB OTG.

  • Hardcore design.but why only 32GB?

  • what the battery life!!! awesome!

  • When will come Galaxy S6 Active plus duos?

  • Yeah burn in is better

  • I head possibly next month from a bell rep. Here's hoping it's true, can't wait for it.

  • Could anyone tell me if or when this phone is coming to Canada? I can't find anything about it. Thanks!!!

  • Please can someone ask Samsung why they didn't give it 64gb of memory since they didn't give is no sd card slot or make an 64gb version cause I would really like to own this phone.

  • This samsung is amazing watter prof, desing, monster battery,..... but for much better samsung need convert 3 specs how is: 1. Super AMOLED to Quantum LED-backlight 2. 3 GB ram to 4 GB RAM LPDDR4 3. Snapdragon 820 With this three specs that's have to be new best smartphone in world

  • I really wanted to love this phone, the screen is beautiful, the camera is awesome, and the build quality is great. However the software implementation and memory leaks on the device: made it unusable many many times for me. Unfortunately: not knowing if samsung would ever fix it (considering they do not release updates very quickly) I has to return the unit. I found the experience to be very disappointing.

  • Hardware buttons masterrace.

  • Hardware buttons are really useful under water as the screen becomes unresponsive

  • Are you able to shoot pictures underwater like the S4 aqua mode does?

  • the lack of a fingerprint reader does suck since it limits tap and pay due to not having convenient authentication. otherwise it would be the perfect phone.

  • @shah63 damn you for thinking hardware buttons suck.

  • damn hardware buttons!!!!

  • Any news on releasing a s6 active dual sim?

  • you have to try that piece....nice piece yarrrr...

  • In features maybe this model S6 active contained Snapdragon 820 and 4 GB RAM LPDDR4

  • Please Gsmarena show the benchmark performance and battery life test for Samsung Galaxy S6 Active

  • What about the RAM size ?

  • I live in an island. Am surrounded by sea. Never had any issue with my cell phones though. Anyhow.

  • can have unlocked instead of AT&T?

  • can have unlocked instead of AT&T?

  • I have the Galaxy S6 Active. I do like the phone but I have a few issues. One concern I have is the audio quality of the rear speaker. Everything is clipped in some fashion. It sounds like the old speak and spell voice. It is very noticeable with a deep male voice. I wonder what they did? My old galaxy S4 was fine. Fortunately the audio issue is limited to the rear speaker. Direct connect headphones and Bluetooth do not suffer from any lack of audio quality. Maybe there is a fix to this rear speaker speak and spell voice audio issue? My second issue is there is only 32Gb of storage space. Need I say more on this one? Give us the option of at least 64Gb. Battery life is absolutely amazing! I live in poor cell reception area and my phones usually die around noon. I get a full 14 hrs of battery with this phone. This is the biggest reason I will keep this phone. My wife's iPhone 6 is dead by 2PM. Absolutely everything else about the phone is great. I know people think its ugly, but its the rugged active version and its what I expect form a real phone that can actually take a real life beating and keep working reliably. Overall its a great phone but the rear speaker audio quality is an epic fail. The limitation of only 32GB is almost a major fail. It has close to 24Gb free. I just transferred my basic needs over to the phone and I only have 5GB free... Not super impressed. This is frustrating as my old S4 had 80GB of storage. I had to really downsize to fit on the Galaxy S6 Active with only 32Gb of storage.

  • i do have a question: is samsung considering making a 64 gigabyte version or what? cause everything about this phone is really great but the storage i would really like to have an answer for my question if anyone who reads this does not mind ofcourse

  • u guys should please update the specs sheet... Dimensions, weight & stuff... What u waiting for..??? The phone is already out !

  • Yep, I had the same impression about the G4. Let me/us know what's your experience if you go for the S6 Active!

  • Same here. I've got a LG G2 i'm happy with but can't say i've been imprerssed with the G4. The Galaxy S6 active if anywehere as good as what they say about the "normal" S6, is made for me!

  • The hard buttons for home/tabs/back are awful. I'm having a tough time readjusting to 2008-era concepts. Might have to return the active for the soft buttons of the s6. Great phone otherwise.

  • You never been to the beach?

  • Triple color Led-flash: cdn.gsmarena.com/vv/newsimg/15/06/microsoft-lumia-940-leaked-photo/gsmarena_001.jpg

  • I am really looking forward to put my hands on this beast! Even if my trustworthy LG G2 still serves me well, with time it has lost some brilliance. Plus, I want the freedom of not worrying whether my phone falls or if I go hiking and it gets wet. But I live in Switzerland and I would like to know if I'll ever have a chance to buy (and enjoy) the S6 Active here. Does anyone knows? Or do you know where may I check for the selected selling countries? Many thanks.

  • Does Anyone have info if it will be released in UK? If so what is the price of this handset. Love the specs wanna buy it.

  • Simple its designed for Navy Guys, as when they are in the sea for months, the air contains salt itself which can cause damage to phone.

  • Salt proof is for anyone who is outside and sweats a lot. Your body has natural salt that is why they did that. It's great for the outside workers

  • Why would they make it so ugly? Why limit it to 32GB? To me these are total show stoppers. Samsung would have just been smart to put this battery in the S6/Edge even if it meant "sacrificing" .5 millimeters.

  • Sweat is salty

  • Sorry for your molasses bandwidth. Ten hours? Really? Well it's lightning fast for me, so you can understand why local storage isn't important to me.Sorry I generalized.

  • Well when it takes 10 hours to upload my pictures and my videos or any other files due to bandwidth PLUS ill probably need more storage thus ill have to pay money on top for cloud service it makes SENSE to the rest of us why SD is pretty much an essential part of the cell phone.

  • I dont really get it. I understand its waterproof. Why is it salt proof if it cant get in the sea ? What sort of contact do humans have with salt besides entering the sea , so that they made it salt proof? Please can someone elaborate why is this cell phone salt proof?

  • Well I've never experienced such slowness. It's always been fine. At least for browsing pictures and storing files. I do keep some music on my device, but I primarily stream. I guess in your case, my solution won't work.

  • Why anyone completely relies on cloud storage is beyond me... It's nothing but unnecessary compromise when with enough memory on the phone you could have everything always at hand and on the cloud for backup, because those times you have no or very slow Internet connection you're completely screwed.

  • Hello, Gsmarena. I just wanted to tell you some of the specs of this phone, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, that are either missing or incorrect, so here you go: -This phone has 3GB of ram. -The weight of this phone is 5.291 oz (150 grams). -The dimensions of this phone are 146.81 x 73.41 x 8.64 mm / 5.78 x 2.89 x 0.34 in. -One of the sensors of this phone is SpO2. -This phone has 3 colors: Gray, Camo White, and Camo Blue. -The display of this phone actually has a 577 ppi pixel density. So, these are all the specs of this phone, the Galaxy S6 Active, that are missing. All of these are completely accurate and true, so don't worry! Once you add all these to the spec chart, the chart should be complete! So yeah, you're welcome, Gsmarena!

  • This phone are beast but unfortunately this phone not have a SD card slot and non-removable battery.Anyway i will buy this phone :)

  • Forgot to mention it's really nice having hardware buttons and the wireless charging is cool. Just a super cool device.

  • Has anyone put the phone into the water yet?

  • What? Super Amoled is way better than IPS quantum LCD display. Infinite contrast and near zero black level make super amoled display sharp and colour vivid more than any LCD display.

  • Just got this yesterday and loving it. Got the blue camo version. Personally I think the thing is beautiful. I don't get this obsession with going ever thinner and sacrificing battery size. These phones, are thin enough. Nothing even remotely bulky about this phone. Plus I hate cases and this phone is durable enough to go naked. So far battery life is stellar. I'm not a heavy user but I have been installing apps, customizing, streaming music, tinkering etc since yesterday. 22 hours now since charging and it has 40% left. SD cards and lots of storage is overrated. I keep all my photos and videos on Picasa/Google photos. Why anyone insists on keeping everything local is beyond me. Other random files I keep on Google Drive. Everything launches just as fast as launching them from phone storage thru those services. 32gb is more than enough. Imo this is the best phone out there today.

  • Only thing how need this super hard smartphone is converting Super AMOLED to "IPS Quantum"

  • It cannot into sea, but it can into space!

  • So no SD slot and only 32GB option?

  • Downfall-limited storage

  • The ugliest phone ever made !

  • Does it float?

  • No SD card slot... Boooooo! SD card expansion slots are one of the biggest reasons to buy android phones over apple... Among several other reasons but SD cards top the list for many.

  • then how about s5 ? .. the xperia z series .. htc desire eye ???? all of them that i mentioned are waterproof .. and has a micro sd card slot .. ?? boom

  • Yes it can go into the sea

  • All the more u need just an OTG USB dongle. Buy a 64Gb OTG and plug it in to snap all the photos you wanted and then plug another when the dongle is full. Even better than microSD card because you need not remove any battery cover to access the microSD! Just plug and play.

  • You sound like you have never heard of OTG dongle. Just buy a 64Gb OTG nd your on your way to flexible file backup and sharing between USB devices including your PC.

  • No, only 1.5 meter for 30 minutes

  • S6 edge has no micro sd card also. They are using dirty marketing tricks like Apple so that you would buy the expensive 128gb version. Having microsd card feature does not mean that it cannot be waterproofed look at s5 and xperia z,z1,z2,z3 they have both microsdcard and waterproof feature. Plus the price of s6 inclined steeply. These are the reason why I am planning to move on z3c. S5 would be my last samsung phone

  • 3gb

  • 3GB

  • So this can go into the sea?

  • I shall not upgrade from s5. Too much is missing. No sd card slot, no fingerprint scanner, no ois.

  • what about RAM

  • Loss of the micro SD slot is a downgrade. One of the key reasons that got me started with Samsung Galaxy products. Disappointed in this downgrade.

  • I was going to buy But no micro sd -no

  • How this would benefit me if I'll switch from SM-G870A or SM-G870F to this one?

  • No SD Card most of the guys blaming. But it is water resistant one if they provided that means surely the internal jack of sd card will affected. If u need such one go for S6 Edge

  • Perfect, great standard one of the best phones in town but no sd slot is really bad.......

  • No external card slot for more memory

  • No memory extension for a 4K video recorder? No OIS on an "active" camera? It cannot be explained. Samsung is done.

  • I just hate non removable bettery phones, not matter how powerful they are functionally...........!

  • Worth buying? I think Galaxy Xcover 3 is much better. Even the design is similar. I need sd slot and removable battery. Being active means you keep taking picture till the sd card is full and replace it immediately with an empty one. Being active also mean that you have no time to charge yiur ohone outdoor so swaping battery is the better choice. Super Amoled and 576 ppi? Active people barely use their phone and spend more time having fun with the activity they are engaging with.

  • if samsung to have Display Type LED-backlit IPS LCD, capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors was best phone.

  • Say the back cover comes off underwater. U are toast at that point. It all depends on how you look at it, it could be good or bad. That is why the back is not removable. As for expandable storage, a lot of customer service employees have clients coming in crying because their micro ad card failed and they lost all of their data, but the option of expanding storage in itself is very good. There's a controversy to everything.

  • just get a good rugged phone case will turn ANY phone into an active one lol.. and if you need more battery , look for zerolemon they offer battery cases with upto 10000 mah capacity. and in a rugged phone case.

  • I am pretty sure now, that Samsung engineers have no idea what kind of smartphone outdoor people need. One can make an "active" model without FM radio, card slot, removable battery and waterproof connectors, even two or three (help!), but when one makes the fourth model for kids in sandbox and again calls it "active", then definitely should see a doctor, possibly the best outdoor one.

  • Honestly the s6 active is a flop,Sammy wat we're u thinking because that phone on features is ok except the ugly appearance and I think you should stick to the main phone and no variants because they are tanishing the reputation u have made so far

  • Yep, another huge dissapointment. I guess Samsung has finished with the decent phones

  • This phone indeed suitable for various military purposes, anti against shock, dust, and water, but there is news only sold limited in certain countries also, although there in my country, I can't buy because the price is certainly expensive.

  • I agree

  • If the 3500mah battery is true then my interest in this phone is rekindled. Now I just have one more hurdle to overcome. IF theres no 64GB version, an no SD-card,then I MUST at least have USB-host for external memory. 32GB is simply not enough on lengthy vacations away from home.

  • Omg. Look at the Sar value.

  • Why isn't 32 GB enough ?

  • I could not agree more ! The whole "new" marketing and design Samsung's ideas, are as unfortunate as Apple's infatuation!

  • Actually the rumored 3500 mah battery turned out to be true.

  • I guess the wait is finally over, feel sorry for the early adopters who already purchased the "normal flagship model of the Galaxy S6/Edge. In my personal opinion, the Galaxy S6 Active is a true flagship smartphone with a very nice slick design toughbook style with that IP67 protection wrapped around it. +1 for Samsung for bringing this model to life!

  • A rugged phone with non-removable battery and no memory card slot. I would probably get fired if I proposed this for our expeditions... Okay, let's lol now then go back to work, this is probably the "rugged" concept for Silicon Valley nerds :)

  • I know!! If it had SD I would of really thought about buying it.. Looks like I'm going for Sony.. again! Sorry Sammy, maybe next year..

  • What do you think will happen when the day comes that the 3500mAh battery won't hold a charge anymore, cause they don't last forever. And they say you have to take it to a Samsung service center to replace the battery,& pay an arm & a leg &one eyeball.

  • Time up say goodbye to samsung.. m really sad samsung thinkings about customer preferences. They removing goods from old devices and adding new god features + crap featuring things (removing sd slot, non removable battory with low Mah [on s6/s6edge]). They never ask whats really needs customer

  • the battery is non removable cos people like you moan of the cheap plastic design.

  • don't moan about the cheap design then if its plastic its removable if not its gonna be sealed and glass/metal

  • What do you say? 3500 mAh of battery is more than enough. Samsung is not a cheap...manufacturer.

  • Liar!

  • Perfect!

  • I got it wrong, Active meant for me a phone usable longer time outdoor, trading off slimness. But with such a small battery where is the point? Active should have a huge (really huge, replaceable) battery, robust casing even if it gets heavier. Where is a 2 days always on, heavy like a brick, phone?

  • I was hoping, it would have dual sim, And maybe to differentiate with S6, is to have 5.3-5.5 inch screen.

  • Why no microSD card??? WHYYYYYY! :(((

  • I'll stick to my s5 active, for one its stock battery is bigger..but I added an extended which made a huge difference. But Sammy trying to cash in on making you buy memory each phone is just bs. Note 4 would be OK but I think its time I look at other android brands

  • Why does Samsung think I want to shave a few grams and mm off my phone for a much smaller battery that leaves me without a phone when I need it? Why do I want a metal frame that interferes with the reception of the phone?

  • This phone have no sapphire glass and no so strong ...

  • This phone have no sapphire glass and no so strong ...

  • no worth to buy,no 3500 mah this is old, now phones come with 5000-6000 mah battery and are twice cheaper

  • Hopefully Samsung loses enough once loyal customers like us so they'll realise their mistake and start making proper phones that do everything again instead of the S6 which is basically an iPhone with Android on it. I hear S6 sales are much worse than they predicted and barely even equal to S5 sales which was seen as a massive commercial failure, so that's good news anyway.

  • I do agree there were some improvements, but other then the looks, that are indeed fantastic on the edge, most are BS. Qi charging, I already have on my S5. QHD display does that not look substantially different from 1080p is a battery and cpu killer. CPU and memory speeds are a natural evolution, but from what I hear, the S6 lags like my S5,thanks to TW. As for amount of memory, well, I have infinite via SD cards...

  • After having owned the entire Galaxy line since the original until my current S5, I am definitely moving away from Samsung. My hopes were that, as rumored, they would fit this beast with a 3500 mAh battery, as well as an SD card. Since the santandard S6 battery is so pathetic, for a non removable, the active was my only hope to stay faithful. Really, if I wanted what Samsung is doing, I would have bought an iPhone.

  • Samsung just keeps removing features like SD slot, removable battery and to a lesser extent radio that used to differentiate itself from iPhone by the fact the Galaxy S phones used to be designed to do everything. But now for the sake of design it's becoming much too limited and creeping ever closer to the limitations and charging for extra features that the iPhone does. And the fact is that yes it is a good phone but for the price I shouldn't have to make big compromises and such a shame that they've forced me to look to other manufacturers for a new phone since the Note does do everything I need but is just too big.

  • samsung designed is always the same.

  • S6 is a HUGE improvement over S5 in so many aspects: looks, speed, screen, memory technology, camera, speaker, fast charging...etc. I have the 64 Gb Edge version and it is a beast.

  • Whoever was the joker 'a reliable source' playing mind games and started the rumour of 3500mah removable batt n msd card haha. Go get a life n put your head in the sand like an ostrich!

  • Well done to Samsung! They r following the likes of have been nokia n motorola. Living on their big repute of a handful of success on alternate years of gd galaxies and being complacent. They think they have a big fan base like Apple but android is pretty open competition. Im still holding on to a S4 Active a pretty darn solid phone that took lotsa abuse. Iv dipped it in saltwater and freshwater for underwater shots for my fishing and recently water leaked in a little after the phone got older n the rubber ring lost some waterproofing, but otherwise operationally unaffected. Latest underwater session, i soaked it in seawater to shoot a video of a fish release n the immediate result was speakers going muted. After a wipedown n leaving it to dry it's fine. After 18mths the charging port plastic cover came off its rubber seal and i cudnt glue it back with success n pulled the entire thing out. Not complaining coz my pal's s5 charging port came off within a year. Hence my s4 active not longer water resistant n im fine with it for afew more mths till i upgrade. Nonetheless the s4 active is one of my best serving phones ever with no hiccups other than usual battery life shortening after a year. My only phone that doesn't need a case n yet looks nice in metallic orange which has its edges scraped off with abuse. I was really keen on another Active but with non removable batt n microsd it seems like i wud be paying for premium price n looks (subjective not really a beauty to me but s6 active looks more robust thatz about it) for a massive downgrade in key features. I already used up 2/3 of my 64gb msd. What a joke to be handicapped with 32gb fixed!!!! Im keeping my options open and the G4 looks to fill the bill n more attractively priced. Hope some heads will fall at Samsung. Paying top execs that have no simple idea what the growing demands or trends of the mobile world. 32gb is really crippling to use with higher pixel pictures n hd quality n beyond videos to store. Therez no loyalty in mobile consumer market. Its either the best tech n looks or price attractiveness. Consumers just move on to the next best thing. If a market leader cant keep up with it. It will just fall behind the pack really fast. This year's Galaxy offerings are a disaster. Hope they have better luck on their Note 5. It wud be a gd bet to see their stock prices dropping with similar consumer sentiment. Hope Ironman n the rest of the Avengers can save Samsung this year. Samsung hope u guys hear this n wake up coz i do hope to get a Galaxy S7 active but if things dun change this brand can be scratched off the list like my old favorite Nokia before Apple stormed in n won me over briefly. Gd luck to the sales of this year's galaxy S6 sub-active.

  • They copied only bottom of the S6 from Iphone 6, if not then tell me what else they copied?

  • Well the official specs were released yesterday and it is exactly the same as the standard S6 so I am officially DONE with Samsung since they've stopped designing the Galaxy S to do everything and following the Apple model of giving just enough and charging for the rest.

  • Ugly phone, i really do not like this handset. And a better battery would be a plus.

  • Actually Samsung included a solution for that because if you hold the power button for I think 5 seconds it physically cuts the battery connection as if it's been removed.

  • I think people are more concerned with their phone when hangs. When your phone hangs and you wait for 15 minutes but doesn't restart, the only solution is removing the battery. Otherwise, you should wait till your phone completely discharges that could take a day. Google should resolve this issue on Android OS.

  • Wolf Android is still superior and advanced on all phones

  • This phone has a measly 2550mAh battery yet it is the Active variant of the S6 series. Moving on...

  • 2550 batery?? Wtf?? It wont active all day

  • Anemic 2550mAh battery? Add salt to injury: Probably only 32GB alternative - without card-slot AND without USB-host. My interest in this phone just went from 95+ procent likely to buy, to less then 5%.

  • If battery info is correct, I will be buying elsewhere for my next phone. I have been waiting on this phone, even willing to forego the missing expansion memory... but with a small battery I wont buy it. I need my phone to last all day, or at least the option of changing the battery!

  • I'm pretty sure that the Active is NOT the exact same size as the regular S6. It simply makes no sense.

  • Still no SD card and only 2550 battery?? Read my lips Samsung: N O !!!

  • Rumors made this phone DOA. (Dead On Arrival), so much for bigger battery.

  • Very disapointed now difference from i know befor

  • i want to see next mobile phone with company samsung Body Dimensions 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9 mm (5.45 x 2.79 x 0.35 in)Display Size 5.2 inches similar to lg g2

  • The S6 can survive water for a while but the water does get inside and when it's inside the battery will fry the phone, and also because of how it's sealed putting in rice wouldn't absorb the moisture. And I'm not a fan of iPhone but at least with them you can just undo a few screws to get into the battery, while on the S6 you need to use a hairdryer to melt the glue then pry the phone apart with a very high chance of damaging it.

  • reason why people like removable batteri is becourse lets say you get your phone wet to a certen extend where you need to be able to cut the power.. or your phone freezes up like with some phones removing the battery sometimes help it so it can run again. you wont be able to save a wet samsung phone now if you cant remove the battery.. and yes i have a friend that saved one of he's earlyer samsung galaxy phones by removing the battery after he got droped into water with the phone.. and it still worked.. not sure it would have handled that if he could not have removed the battery but it wont be the biggest issue with this phone since it can handle water for a while

  • Why should I choose to MASSIVELY compromise when my Galaxy S5 does everything I need and all the S6 does is give a bit more speed while taking away features. Because I can already use cloud services and power banks but with S5 I don't have to rely on them or have to worry about no signal since everything is already on my phone and have a spare battery in my car. If Samsung can make a phone that doesn't feel like a huge downgrade like the S6 is then I'd buy it tomorrow, but if not another manufacturer can take my money.

  • Why? You can use a portable battery to charge up the internal battery. As for the SD card, with the Cloud Service offered with the phone and many other services such as DropBox, you shouldn't make this the reason you don't get a phone you like.

  • There's always wild rumors about Galaxy phones but all I care is that the rumours of SD slot and removable battery are true because I've got money burning a hole in my pocket and if the S6 Active doesn't have these I have no choice but to go to another manufacturer, which is surprisingly difficult since premium phones like the S5 that have all the features just aren't made anymore. Well they are but they're too big like with the Galaxy Note and LG G4.

  • Is there any info abot this handset coming to uk?

  • better than s6 edge as it has a finger scanner and water resistant

  • samsung should not miss anything About card slot upto 128gb fastest class of edge and gprs like it was on the time of s3 Stereo FM radio with RDS these are some specification which samsung is ignoring they should remeber about s3 populirity beacuse of including these all types of specification *battery issue is also a big issue which we users are facing And last samsung should add also tv to all it's upcoming s series from s7 please think on my concept samsung i like your smartphones very much my email id [email protected] please contact Thanx

  • It will wasn't any finger print there.

  • I left iPhone for Samsung because of the Memory card slot and the removable battery option, if Samsung now wants to be iphonised, then I will surely say goodbye to Samsung. They have to be careful, they might lose many who moved from Apple. Some might choose Sony or Htc or even move back to Apple.

  • I agree with Zebede. They do appear to have mostly just copied the specs from the S6. All leaks I've read mention that the S6 active will have a memory card slot. The IP67 and 3500 mah battery are consistent with the leaks, but some of the information appears to be inaccurate. Also, no word yet whether the battery is removable or what the phone's case will be made of (poly-carbonate or aluminum. Poly-carbonate please for crystal clear reception and removable battery).

  • This is bad review. Some leaks said that it will have memory card slot and that the battery will be 3300-3500 compared to S6's 2550... But that's the leaks, and here they just copied the S6's info and paste it on S6 Active. Google S6 Active leaks and you will find more reliable information

  • no memory and battery so no use to buy this phone

  • samsung handset dont have any smsrt phones but have the high rates ..............................

  • the disadvantage of a removable battery is it will shut off whet it get off. simple as that.

  • yeah dude I agree with you :-)

  • i wish it still was poly-carbonate, impact resistance with bounce is way better than none and the flex that results in aluminum. it's a more expensive material but far from better or more durable.

  • with that kind of battery and IP it would be "next" flagship... only add sd slot...

  • The most important thing that does not have plastic

  • If the S6 Active comes to Verizon then I will probably get it. Water resistance is something I absolutely insist on since I live in Oregon (rains a lot). Also very happy to hear the S6 Actives' battery will be 37% bigger (3500 mah vs 2550 mah)! Speaking of battery, I wish that Samsung hadn't increased the pixels in their display. The S5's 2.1 million pixels (1080 x 1920) in a 5.1" screen was plenty! I don't understand why they increased their pixels by 78% (1440 x 2560 = 3.7 million pixels!) when I've read in comments and reviews that the difference in clarity is barely noticeable even when you look for it. Seems a huge waste of battery resources to power so many pixels in such a small computer. Thankfully, Samsung is maximizing their battery and performance through an extremely efficient 14 nm chipset (Exynos 7420), Power Saving Mode and Ultra Power Saving Mode user options, and getting rid of a lot of the unnecessary preinstalled software (less background activity means less power wasted). Additionally Samsung has started to mass produce their new ePop techology which will further increase their battery (and internal space) efficiency in future phones. Using a detailed review source (http://www.notebookcheck.net) I've found to be very accurate in the past I compared the S6 with the older S5. I was happy to see that the S6 made some really great improvements to its' display (especially brightness and outdoor usability), camera (especially low light condition shots), and has made the virtual keyboard and general layout much easier and intuitive to use. The lightning fast performance was also impressive. I am unhappy, however, that the S6 telephone quality is not as crystal clear as the S5 (plastic does not interfere with radio signals unlike metal so this result is not unexpected), the audio is not nearly as precise and impressive, and the battery is not removable (after a couple years of use or in case the S6 freezes and refuses to shut down). I am hoping the S6 Active reverts back to strong plastic as perfect reception is more important to me than perfect performance (as metal provides much better heat conductivity) and the much greater potential for a removable battery is a great added bonus, but if not I still feel the S6 Active will likely be the best option for my first smartphone. On a much lesser note, I am hoping Samsung can still support UFS memory in the S6 active as it is more efficient (and faster), but I fear by supporting microSD card technology, they will be forced to abandon UFS in the S6 Active. Personally I can't see why I would need more than the 32 GB storage in the base S6 Active model, but I can understand why many people would want or even demand this basic feature, and personally losing UFS would not be a deal breaker for me.

  • Will this really happen? If yes I'm all for it. It's only a question of WHEN?!!!?!?!?!?!!! =)

  • @Arabian_Knight All Samsung devices use the Hold Power, Volume Up and Home Button simultaneously to reboot the phone into Recovery Mode. From there you simply pick reboot in standard mode! What's so hard about that? lol... and you can do that if it has removable batteries or not. In fact near all manufacturers copied that method from older Samsung devices with out removable batteries!

  • This is too large for me. :( I like an S6 mini active with 4.3-4.5" and FHD, but with the S6's 14nm CPU.

  • When the Phone hangs and would not power on/off , you can bypass that by removing the Battery ... if the phone has non removable batteries , you must wait for the battery to drain out .

  • My main point was head set jack being at bottom and other changes I mentioned Samsung has done in new phones are so unhandy, which I think should be taken back in coming up phones... Actually as soon as possible with S6 Active because I want to buy that phone! And the hard keys for S6 Active are unhandy and not necessary either. One hard and two soft keys are the best. And it looks to me like they had inspiration from iPhone, designing S6...

  • Do You know for sure S6 Active won't have a card slot? It is still uncertain as far as I know. At least I still have hope ;)

  • Wow! 100% agree with you

  • This phone is a beast release this I bet you this will be the best phone ever its processor is better than snapdragon ,its 14 nm compared to 20 nm SD,its battery ....giant,display superb .....,it has finger print sensor ,heart rate sensor .....,what else any person wants for superb gaming and camera

  • Your comment makes no sense, the LG g2 port and speaker and head set jack is at the bottom, so I guess LG copying too , the HTC one has no removable battery, I guess they copying too, most Nokia Lumia have no removable battery, I guess they copying too, One plus one have no removable battery, I guess they copying too, sir grow up , apple didn't not started no removable battery, no SD card slot, the first iphone was 2007. Samsung was around from 1938 and still here in 2015 ,

  • I can't see why Samsung's doing this.. They're adding great new futures and specs in their new phones but they're removing the good old ones at the same time. That's a shame they've changed the options key with running apps. What's the point in that? S6 is definitely a great phone but what's the reason for copying iPhone's specs which suck like headphone port being on the bottom?? Unremovable battery sucks too but I guess it's necessary to be water-proof.. And I hope there will be just usual one hard and two soft keys unlike S5 active. Sorry for my English by the way.

  • These stats are NOT for the active version!!!

  • 2nd if your battery starts to fail later on or develops a fault you will have to send your phone back to the manufacturer to have it replaced. By having a user removable battery means that you can replace your failed/failing battery yourself easily.

  • Actually I love listening to the radio and it's a serious factor for me. Not all areas have wifi so to fm radio can be expensive...

  • first when your phone is dropped in water and you are not able to remove the battery to dry and avoid shortcut, two when your phone bricks and wont starting

  • Hi guys,What's the disadvantages of non removable battery?

  • Big Phone Big Specs No Battery Backup Not Cool!

  • U wrote the best comment ever

  • "Now the only one remaining major difference between Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6 is the operating system." You sure about that?S6 has 16mp camera and iPhone has 8mp(And iPhone's camera were the same like 5 years in a row already or maybe more),Samsung already uses quad-core processors since SGS3 and iPhones latest flagship which is the iPhone6 only uses dual core processors(Don't tell me crap that iOS doesn't need a lot of cores because it's already running smooth on single cores). You can even do almost anything on SGS6 and don't tell me that Apple has features that Samsung doesn't have. That BS is overrated. I Bet Apple just finds softwares on Google Play which are being ignored by users, they copy it, call it innovation and claim it's their own. Jeez, wake up dude, iPhones are just for social status it doesn't have anything new. It's just a brand name not a Mobile Phone company OKAY? #troll#fanboy#doublefacepalm @_@

  • I don't care samsung copy iPhone or not. I just need better phone. One thing I know for sure samsung listen customer better than iPhone do. Can any one tell a one person on his life, he or she didn't copy...

  • I hope samsung galaxy s6 active is beautiful as samsung galaxy s6. Not like robatic look. The leaked images show a phone that is ugly and look like a robotic phone. I hope samsung will think about this. And introduced a phone that looks smart.can't wait. Love galaxy love samsung ......

  • Obviously I'm wasting my time expecting you to understand how the tech industries and idea sharing works. Because just not liking Samsung is one thing but saying they deserve to lose money shows how clueless you really are.

  • Say it after 1-2 years when the battery in your phone deteriorated, and you can't replace it.

  • Samsung makes dozens of phones every year and make a phone for everyone, and every single feature ever used on iPhone was used on other phones first, and Android is where all the ideas start before Apple devices to use it. And it's just sad that you're so narrow minded wanting Samsung to suffer.

  • And it's shame. I hope this will result in much serious profit loss in this year for Samsung.

  • You think that I'm an Apple fanboy. But you're wrong. (Maybe I should have to write my comment in a more obvious way.) I hate Apple and iPhone. And the reason why I hate Samsung is that they started to copy iPhone. So the new changes that S6 has is almost everything why people hate iPhone (limitations, design, etc.). Now the only one remaining major difference between Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6 is the operating system.

  • At one time technology and IP was shared to a reasonable amount and that's how the tech industries improve because one person has an idea and everyone tries to improve on that. But then Apple came along who copied all their ideas just like everyone before, except now Apple sues everyone for ideas they stole. But Fanboys like you just can't understand the damage Apple is doing with their monumental levels of greed.

  • Samsung don't care about common sense. All they do is copying Apple and iPhone. Samsung wannabe Android's iPhone. I hope Samsung will fall and die. (It won't happen, because people are too dumb, so they will continue to buy Samsung devices, despite all Samsung devices released after Note 4 are pile of shit.)

  • Yeah but it's not easy to find one that does everything and still small enough for 1 handed use.

  • Is there any reason I should choose to carry a big power bank and have to have it plugged into the phone when right now I can just swap a battery and instantly have 100% power without needing wires, boxes or huge power cases on?

  • You really don't need a removable battery these days because you have portable chargers.

  • Samsung please don't let this one stay a rumor. We need water resistance and bigger battery even if it requires a bigger chassis!

  • Also, if you do, you must be incredibly blind as the S6 looks nothing like the iPhone 6

  • Yes, Samsung messed up real bead with the removal of the micro SD card port and the removable battery ! I strongly advise Samsung to have a microSD port and a removable battery on the Note 5, otherwise me and a huge number of other potential customers will turn to phablets from other brands !

  • Time traveler are you?

  • You're saying you have the iPhone 6 and the S6? Well you're lying because the S6 isn't released until April 10th.

  • samsung sucks the s6 looks exatlly like the iphone 6 cause i have bolth phones

  • That's very wrong because I've bought every Galaxy phone since the beginning no matter how much they cost, and the reason myself and most complain is they removed 2 major features that set it apart from iPhone and many other phones because Galaxy phones could do everything, and when you run short of memory you get some more. Because what do you do on an old iPhone if that 16gb runs out? Nothing... You're stuffed, but on a Galaxy phone you just stick a memory card and new battery in and it keeps on going. Because right now I use my old Galaxy S3 connected to my TV as a media box because it is upgradable.

  • i think that people doesnt have anought money to get the phone so the only speek bad thing about it! phone is awesone no matter what the people that cant get one peace!!

  • My local beach has almost no phone signal and many others have the same problem, so if you got out and had no signal would you still call FM radio a gimmick?

  • You think people are poor just because they want the ability to add more memory?

  • who the hell uses fm radio in 2015? this is just some gimmick so u can complain about it. accept the fact that u are nothing but a troll and go back to your cave

  • i mean 32/64/128 is enough or waht you what to tranfer you computer to the phone that is no possible and it has 3500 battery is more that a good battery so i think is the perfect phone

  • yes jajajaj this phone is amazing no matter what the people says a men you can cahrge the battery in 10 minutes and the sd card well 32 is enoung i guess and you have 64/120 well the phenes is awesone nop matter what the poor people says

  • Battery big enough - no need to replace. For memory... buy 128Gb version and it's enough also. If more problems call 1800-cry-baby. Thanks!

  • is this phone will be available in middle east??? any info pls!!!

  • Who do you think you're calling a troll? I have an opinion and I shared it, so don't be such an Ass.

  • Sucks for not having a removable battery and memory card slot.

  • I hope its beautiful as Samsung galaxy s6.....

  • Please release this phone this is a beast and I want it plzplzplzplzplz....best Samsung phone ever

  • In India, people do not bother radio much.... And since apple is selling iphone, s6 will also sell...

  • I do not think these are features... And nothing good to copy which might make them apple... Its simply they think they will be better without this...

  • If you are so fond of SD card, go get HTC m9 or lg g4 because they are only one which might offer SD slot ( among branded flagships)... Samsung has announced the reason for not adding a SD card... If you don't not agree, simply do not buy s6... If will not bother them much because many more people will have no problem without SD card but prefer other features in which s6 rules.... Don't troll...

  • I see no reason why I should be forced to compromise by carrying a powerbank, flash drive and have to store most of my files on cloud services when I don't need to do that now. So no matter what anyone says removing expandable memory and removable battery is a massive downgrade. And not having a removable battery for something that is made for the outdoors and away from power is just a truly idiotic decision.

  • After Crapple sued Samsung they had to raise the prices of their phones.

  • I was hoping since the S6 is so screwed up that this might have a card slot, but I guess Samsung has completely lost their mind.

  • Are you kidding me non removable battery

  • NO SIR download ASPHALT 8 and zombie highway 2

  • let's see if this guys make a real rugged phone,no galaxy s5 active like iphone 4s, when you'll drop your phone is completely broken

  • Well looks like Next phone Saygus V2 for me...so much for Samsung...

  • Its like this company lost all ties to its identity... I'm guessing they're also not reducing the price for the missing features...I.e. Apple...

  • of course, they are trying to dethrone iPhone, so yeah they will copy atleast some of iPhone's features lol

  • No FM radio, no card slot, no replaceable battery. Is here any outdoor passionate who is going to buy this "outdoor" phone?😜

  • Nothing said it won't be. Besides. That's just what everyone is hoping for. Don't expect it. Just hope.

  • smart phone for outdoor i am waiting for it long time

  • No removable battery and storage? really? What a disappointment...

  • this yr sam phone for everyone

  • Jst wanna say WoW!!!

  • Z1 that I have is 8.5 and that is fine...

  • 8.8mm because of 3500 mah battery

  • specs - Radio: No rofl! it's just a freakin' samsung, what else to expect? bow to thy idol! buy whatever s-it they throw you in the market!

  • It has SpO2? Could be more appropriate the the sensor are in a band or smartwatch

  • new phone to choose,LG G4,and s6 active and XCOVER 3

  • Yesterday, people said samsung horrible because s6 didn't put something protective and the battery are not last long, now what did you guys see? Just because expandable memory? I believe lot people didn't put movie to much on phone, at least the transferred to their pc or something at least I know that what I do. If the battery still no enough for you guys, than I wondered why the powerbank exist in this world. No hatred.. peace :) giving my opinion

  • really s6,LG G3 does it also

  • this and xcover 3 beat the tops,s6 active is performant and pff better than s6,and xcover 3 is half less performance, for people who want a cheaper rugged smartphone

  • Regular S6 already destroys the Z3. This is rugged variant, the kind of phone you can play tennis with without having to worry about breaking it. If you wonder how this is going to look, compare the regular S5 to the S5 Active and than think this is going to look a bit better since Samsung has a new chief of design.

  • Samsung you giving a lot of people wet dreams, and making a lot of people dreams come true,

  • I'm really waiting this phone very good feature I can say this phone is the phone in my dream.

  • look very good feature good battery size I will get one in the future

  • The height of the phone justifies a 5.5" screen, but Samsung typically has large bezels so it will probably be 5.1".

  • 8.8 mm thickness is good. Now they can put a bigger battery in it. I hate 5-6 mm phones with small batteries.

  • pleople is never satisfase what about the 8.8 omg everything is a problem s6 and s6 edge have aroung 16m of preorden no matters what the heater and the poor people says i thinks this phone is perfecr evething is great theres nothing wrong whit this phone and nothing wrong whit the s6 and s6 edge perfects phone heater gonna hate hate hate !!!

  • Now it is rumored to have a 5.1 inch display or 5.5 inch? :D

  • Maybe they want it to be Sony Xperia z3 competitor...but 8.8mm thickness??!!?

  • amazing battery lol ill hav this phone no matter wat happen !!
