This is an absolutely terrible device. I've had it for just over a year, but it was awful just a month after I got it. It's always lagging, apps take forever to load and crash often, the cameras aren't worth a dime, and it's still slow with an SD card. I don't have a ton of stuff loaded onto this, but I can tell you, it's not worth your time. I also have the LG Optimus Elite, which has the same RAM and only 1 or 2 GB of internal storage, and it's still far better than this. 0/5; do not recommend.

Love it. I bought it for a cheap froyo and a week ago; Its now an Android Kitkat device. Perfect, all apps are now supported and the battery life much longer. Still own it for a year. Probably deserve to buy if you know all rooting/installation of custom roms. Credits to XDA!

Sold my ipod touch immediately when this came out, still use it everyday. All it needs is proper Android upgrade from samsung. XDA has kitkat roms for this with awesome performance but the rear camera is broken on it... Best device i've bought...

For what I use it for, mainly playing videos and music, it's excellent. The camera is good too, but holding it and taking a photo needs practice.

i dont play fancy games in this gadgets and i use my old little phone for calls, so i dont need too much processing power. For what i need it, which is: set up a calendar and projects, skype, take some pictures and videos (which dont need to be hd quality), upload and download content, read pdf (its incredible to read on this),surf internet, learn languages (i use flasch cards and babbel apps), scan documents and turn them to pdf, use evernote and dropbox, carry ebooks, use comunication tools, read MS office documents, its the single greatest piece of technology i ever bought. Sure, by now there are more fancy phones over there, but it does what it promises.

@ PsyChoGKK That is where your problem lies; your Firmware is out of date. A lot of Apps these days require Gingerbread v2.3.6 or later to run.

@ John If you want to update your Firmware to Gingerbread v2.3.6 then go here for the International ROM: You will find the links for the files you need and instructions for flashing. I live in the UK and purchased my player last week. I was disappointed to find that it was loaded with FroYo and that there was no official update. I flashed mine in less than 10 minutes and it is now on v2.3.6. I didn't have any problems using Odin, but if you decide to take that route then remember that you do it on your own back. The instructions state that you should have Kies installed on your PC, but I've found that Kies is a pile of cack and should be avoided. As long as you have Samsung USB drivers installed on your PC you will be OK.

I've been using this tab for a year now & im totally satisfied with it, the battery life is way better than other phone of samsung even if i used it on gaming in a day.. It can txt and call via apps in the market, just look patiently on apps itself. Why would u need a phone in one gadget go buy a simple phone that can txt and call. So u can maximize this on other things. Plus the problem is the user itself why do you want to always flaunt it.. That you want a complete device in one. In my opinion buy it separately so if you lost one of your gadget, its not as heartbeaking..as it will.

Mr Barbel, There is no TV or HDMI output on this device and the micro USB port does not support "USB host" or "OTG". The only output available is the 3.5mm headphone socket :-( but the 5" screen is surprisingly good for watching videos etc on the device :-)

Device is actually pretty useless. WiFi doesn't stay connected - has some disconnect problem that seems to be prevalent with WiFi across most of the Samsung phone range. Samsung isn't bothered to fix that and their service is TERRIBLE. I've been a fan of Samsung on other products, but in the mobile market they sell on visual appeal. Sadly their phones are very buggy.

Dude! The official update is not available in all regions, Dude. Samsung clearly doesn't value money received from all customers the same. Why is the update available in the US, for example, but not in the UK and other places? Why no ICS for that matter! 7 months and still no ICS

The Galaxy S WiFi 5.0 has no phone. Internet access is very good using WiFi and it can be used for Skype, video streaming and everything else you might use your internet connection for. It's a bit like the iPod Touch in many respects but much bigger. It also has many other uses and is a brilliant device.

i saw this being sold for 418 us dollars and thats a bunch of crap. it is double the price of the ipod here in zim but ipod has double its specs but half its screen and the store selling it is a samsung store what a brand. the s2 goes for 800 dollars and the s5570 mini for 350. samsung has become all about profits with their cheap quality plastic phones and i am dissapointed being a former samsung fan. am going to apple!!!!

Galaxy comes with 2 navigation programs with rute setup. Nice and fine. But having only WI-FI connection it does not work for me on the road. Maps on new areas can't be downloaded in the fly. Even a bluetooth connection to a phone does not make this work out. Totally worthless if I have to preload all places to go in forehand in all zooming levels from home.

I just bought this a week ago and updated the OS to Gingerbread through Samsung Service Center and it is now more responsive after the upgrade . It's my first time to use an Android device and I find this device fun to use. I am currently using a Samsung phone with windows mobile OS. Playing videos and music on this device is great which is my main reason why I bought it. Being able to surf on the internet, play games and install useful application on this device is a good experience and very useful for me since I cannot do it with ease in my old phone with an old windows mobile OS anymore.

Yes it does support gameloft. I think one of the few things it doesn't support is tera games, except Sprinkle (game). I recommend it. The battery is just supreme. It latst easily a whole day, even with wifi on.

Incorrect there is no cyanogen mod for the Galaxy Player/Galaxy S WiFi 5.0. You are getting mixed up with the Galaxy S phone. There are however some custom roms on xda with small tweaks/root access.

Have you gone nuts? I use mine all the time, with or without WiFi! It's a great device for videos and games, thanks to full codec support, the big screen and the gigantic battery life. I have over 20 hours of video inside it (with a 16GB microSD card) e dozens of games. Using minimum brightness settings, headphones and airplane mode, it easily achieves 10 hours of SD video playback or 8 hours of HD video playback, I've already tested.

I've tested it at some local Samsung Store in North Borneo. Basically, is like a Galaxy S without the phone with a bigger screen. Performance is alright and the display is amazing, not as crisp as the Galaxy Nexus but the colours are awesome. You get all those Android goodness :9. Just Imagined the first gen Galaxy Tab with a smaller screen.

I love this gadget it certainly fits a mini tablet. It's a perfect compliment to my Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro, why? Has more internal memory, bigger screen, long lasting battery (tested on normal use got 12 hrs using 2.2), in between my smartphone and Macbook Pro this one is very handy, perfect weight, perfect size. The price is very cheap but the device itself is rock solid and doesn't feel odd. Stop comparing it to an iPod, this baby can do more especially with Android. Even though it's on Froyo it does well and doesn't really need to be upgraded. But I'm waiting for a custom rom like CM7/8 to bump the speed more. If you already have a high end smartphone this is a good partner for it. My only gripe with it is the charging time, it takes me 3 hrs to fully charge it.

i'm using this MP3 Android Device. it comes with 2.2 Froyo Stock rom from Thailand. Yesterday, i just upgraded it via Odin update to 2.3.5 Gingerbread. 2.3.5 is very smooth and better than 2.2 Froyo. Free Ram on start-up is 228mb/376mb while 2.2 froyo is 212mb/376mb (test by click close all programs in GO Launcher EX.) Neocore 59.6 fps. Quadrand : 1681 Aututu : 3000 SO if u are using 2.2 Froyo, i strongly recommend you to upgrade it.

i think alot of application uses internal memory instead of external memory to store, this is one of the disadvantage due to developers not creating their aps to store in SD card.. however you can opt to root it and get a software to actually recognize ur sd card as an internal memory.. i heard abt this. not sure if it works on every android device.. but you nvr know til you tried it.

The device is great. Much better to have separate device for music and video even browsing on the net. I even sold some of my devices to have one. The price is cheaper than what I expected. You can buy this device even in Abensons (mine bought in Market Market). Much better to have small phones than bulky devices, even those cheapest ones that can really fit. Just download good applications to enjoy it more. No need to Root this one, almost all applications that I need has been preinstalled.

This is one of my all time favorite gadget sold my acer iconia tab 7" to this and loving every single minute of it, actualy i got stuck with i touch and this im happy i pick this coz of its monstrous screen size and most importantly the battery life of this i still havent timed my usage yet but this thing lasts loooonnnggg than i expected besides i dont have any credit card for getting an account with apple coz like to pay in cash... Buying a Galaxy S WiFi 5.0, you better think twice. In Dell Streak you've got plenty of great specs: 5inch (Gorilla) Display, wifi, bluetooth, 2 Gb internal + 16Gb external micro SD card, 512mb ROM and 512mb Ram, lots of pre-installed application made by Dell and it's not just a mid-tablet but it's a phone too! Camera & video quality is ok for a 3mp & vga cameras.if ur into taking pictures once in a while it should be sufficient but not really great compared to high end ones available in the market.all really depends on what ul use it for.hope that helps.if u like there are videos available in youtube exhibiting camera capabilities of this device for ur perusal. i bought this last week and i must say that i'm quite satisfied with it. i intend to use it as an ebook reader and a music player. the two speakers at the back is sufficient volume wise, the headset that came with the unit was a real disappointment since its all plastic and is not quite as i would have liked. the screen resolution is adequate, i usually keep the brightness at the minimum to save on the battery which usually lasts 2.5 days on standby plus occasional web browsing and video playback, which by the way is superb given its 5 inch screen. all in all, if you want a multimedia player that could adequately meet your daily dose of entertainment on the go, then this device is definitely one to consider... plus, its affordable... bought it from samsung store in a mall here in the philippines for Php11990...

I really like this machine. Battery life is EXCELENT (2500 mhA). Not too heavy, good sound (very good indeed, not very loud though), excelent screen (but i have seen better) and, well, Android. I was looking for a machine to replace my old and good Palm TX that died 3 months ago. This certainly meets my expectations. Besides, i have already a phone, and by exoperience i have learned that using one machine for everything is not the best choice if you care about battery life. I'm just missing one thing. In my palm TX, i used my phone as a bluethoot modem to browse the internet from the Palm, and made calls directly from the Palm Address book. I mead, i dialed in the palm and the phone made the call. I still can't do this in Android. Besides that, is an excellent machine. If you love old-school PDA's, you will love this tablet.

Just had the chance to test this baby a few minutes. Unlike most people I would purchase it even without GSM phone functionality. Great device to use at home to have a quick look into the web while watching a quiz, show your mother the latest photos, enjoy a video and so on. And for phone functionality you still have VoIP. Out of the house you can pair it with someone who has WiFi either as a hotspot or a GSM-phone with flatrate and WiFi. So you have many possibilities to be online without GSM. Positive - EXCELLENT image quality of the display - all functionality you want to have relaxing at home or staying with friends Caveats - browser did not adjust to wide format in my tests - browser had difficulties with flash - no way to set position in video. I used this for tests: Negative - Android 2.2 only; should be 3.x. I don't think it will be possible to update (Android demands some technical features for devices to operate under 3.x). Nogo - display is 800x480 (10:6). How long will it take them to understand, that a display *must be 4:3? Use a 16:9 window for videos, use rest of display for the userinterface. Those overlays are stupid! Other reasons against 16:9 are photos taken in 90° degree mode, too short display for browser in wide mode...

Plz, plz, plz... Samsung, you should release out a kind of 5" inches smart phone/tablet for GSM with similar functions/features/specifications to Galaxy S II! It's really rock!!! I really love such a size phone since it will give more convenience to use multi-tasks/functions with better vision and portable everywhere. It is my wish and like other million people/clients around the glob, and hope Samsung is the one who can realize it! Even though the Dell Streak was already out, but it seems unmet my expectation... So, plz Samsung! You are the giant and predominant branding one who always respond to the client's wand and need with financial balance of the company's profitability and sustainability for the long run! Is it mini Tab, with 5.0 inches screen? like PDA with WiFi? too pity :( maybe samsung launch this to compete Ipod? it's mix between function in samsung Tab and the size of Apple Ipod, with big storage, Internal 8/16GB storage and Card slot microSD, up to 32GB. The point plus is it has Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo) with CPU 1 GHz processor. How about the battery life? Can Samsung accommodate this?

A 5 inch tablet is perfect for mobility. I am currently using an Aigo 5 inch tablet and it is perfect for travelling. I use it to watch movies and read books in the plane. Gets me through hours of boredom at the airport waiting for my flights. This Samsung 5 inch tablet looks like a winner already. I am ready to replace my aigo with this. Certainly beats my aigo in a lot of ways! Can't wait!

Finally a device that out does the Ipod touch in every way. I hope that the Galaxy S 5.0 will soon be available and it comes with a better price tag than that of the Ipod touch, also that the likes of Sony Ericsson, Motorola......... follow suit
