I recently purchased a data cable for my E310. According to the disc, the phone is only capable of GPRS. I specifically purchased the cable for photo and phone book transfers to my PC and now I have opened the packet I am out of pocket. i don't recommend this phone. battery life lasts 1 1/2 day, phonebook hangs sometimes on T9 mode. The camera tone can't be turned off. N No Bluetooth (tho can be activated but still you wana to buy a phone that already has one, right???) No data cable (this one too~!!!) I've been stuck with this phone for 2 years and never a moment i'm wanting to get rid of it as soon as I save up. I'm getting the nokia 6300 this week. @francis the beeping sound might be on your "message tone" make sure the "repitition" is only "once"

I've had this phone for about 2 months now and i'm loving every curve of it. I was never this satisfied by a phone this much. This phone is the perfect phone and only cost me $136 brand new. The only problem is the IR, other than that it is perfect. I don't plan to buy another phone as long as it is in working condition and good shape, and the next phone i plan to buy will also be a samsung and i will always use samsung. True that it doesn't have as many options as nokia, but its for the simple ppl who want to have a nice looking clamshell phone.

this phone is not to bad but not to good eitehr:P i think camera is pretty good...keypad layout...size of the internal n external screen is good n also good colour aswell...the only prob i hav wif it is the infrared!!!doesnt work.....n for the guy dat had a problem wif the fully charged battery only lasting 10-20mins...mine lasts for 2dayz fully charged still....wat u do is befor u go to sleep or a bit earlier...u start chargin....then in the morning if its fully charged...it had that extra charge in the night when u didnt see it had already been fully charged:P dats wat i alwayz do n it works....cyas!!! n plz right bak on this gsmarena page so i kan see if it worked..if u want:P cyas!!

I have already asked in the showroom but they have told me that except D500 none of the samsung Irda works. Hi, I have had the Samsung E310 for about a month and it has been fine. I have 2 problems. 1- Infared, when i activate my infared it seems to not stay on for much time and when i want to send a picture their is no feature to send it via infared it only has phone number, e-mail and phonebook? I would like to find out how I can send things via infared to either a phone or laptop. 2-infared, I have asked many people with a phone that has an infared port to try to send me something jsut to see if it works. I have tryed about 6 different phones with working infared ports but for some reason when they try to send something to me it always says infared failed? This phone isnt very good for transfering things and has a lot of probs with infafared device so if your thinking of using that forget it! I have had this mob. for about 6months and havent had any major problems, My video has voice, and it takes great pictures and I send them to my comp. via email. My infared works some times, I have recieved ringtones from my boyfriends Nokia via Infared. I have had this phone for only six months and have already had to take it back to the shop twice. Both times it has jammed on me and not allowed me in. I really like the phone and the camera in it is much better quality than the nokia cameras but it is just an inconvenience to have to take it back twice in only six months. Heya! I work in a photographics store and to print out my phone pics. I send them to my email via the phone (phonebook option) and then burn them to c.d. (right click mouse on pic and save) I can then print them out at work by using the public photo tellers (that are available just about everywhere these days) onto proper photographic paper. Or you could print straight from your email to your home printer. I prefer the old fashioned chemical prints. They last longer and look better.

great little phone. only problem is if u scratch it, well paint comes off and u cant replce covers or fix it. And it has locked up on me a couple of times and i have only had it 2 months. appently there is a pin, but they dont tell u this when u buy it. u can also fix this by putting in someone elses sim card and turning phone on then re enter yours?

I can record video with sound, don't know why you can't The Infra-Red is only designed to work with computers, it can be hard to setup but if you know what your doing it works. It was never designed to work with other phones, most phones with Infra-Red are like this. Anyone know how to changed the colour of the light that flashs when you get a message? This phone has a zoom for the camera. There is no sound for the video. the quality of picture is ok only. but the screen is great. too bad, it's only dual band. And though the polyphonic sound is great. you won't be able to hear it if you put it in a bag or if you are in a crowded area.And my biggest peeve, you cannot let it vibrate and ring at the same time. something that has become a trademark of samsung. Whenever i read other people's opinion on other samsung phones, you are bound to read some people complaining about this.

Hi to all, I am having problems to connect my phone SGH-E310 to my computer via a USB cable that came in a "PC DATA LINK KIT" box in order to download new wallpapers and sounds on my mobile. I do not have an Infrared connection so I decided to get the USB cable. Well in short it does not work. The main problem that I have is that I am asked by either EasyGPRS or EasyStudio to instal the GPRS Samsung Modem. Infact when I start the GPRS Wizard, a window appears saying "Com3: Samsung GPRS modem not found". The wizard automatically takes me to the "Add new hardware wizard" and straight into the "modem" section where the "Samsung GPRS modem" is listed. So I click on the "Samsung GPRS modem" and then I click "next" to instal the modem. Then the "Add new Hardware wizard" asks me to select which port I want the modem to be installed. But it provides me with no available ports what so ever and I cannot click on "next" so I am stuck!!! So basically, HEEELLLPPP!!!

hi guys, i've been wondering too if it was possible to transfer pictures, photos , sounds or video between a PC and a Samsung E310 using irda and i've read several times that it wasn't. Well fortunately it is, that's the good news, but partially. That is u can download your photos, sounds or images but u can't, or at least i didn't succeed in, transfer video files. Also, when u upload a picture, it is 128x128 pix max, only for wallpaper... the soft to used is PC Studio 2 PIMS and FileManager. U can dl it directly from the word support samsung site (the local ones didn't work), and here's the URL : just have to set up the connection in the configuration menu and choose irda, and select the 115000 speed. That's all ! hope it will help :) enjoy this phone, it kicks ass !! loudfr

Great phone, light weight easy to use, camera quality is great. The downside to it is that when u take a photo and put it as your wallpaper there's 2 little gaps between the bottom and top, and also with thr IRda infrared, it should be able to transfer data to mobile to mobile (cell to cell) also

hello people.. well i have been watching the posts since last month and i had the same questions which you people have. you may see one of the posts posted by me a few weeks ago and i was curious to know how to tranfer of pics works. well i have a GPRS easy load Compact Disk received with this cell. set and i have installed in my laptop. as i have an IR link in laptop and we have one in E310. i can easily transfer the data from my computer to samsung e 310 and from mobile set to my computer. people who do not have a communication device, they may buy an IR link from the market or a Data cable. both things work. but there is a trick.. other wise you wont be able to transfer data. First switch on the Infra red from the mobile using phone settings. put it in front of the receiver Transmitter infrared deive or the IRDA port of laptop. after that open easy gprs by double clicking it. the sofware will automatically load the phone book and the sms plus all the files in your mobile to the computer and after that you will be able to transfer any data except for the videos because easy gprs does not allow you to see the My Video folder in your mobile. As far as the picture size whic you want to transfer to your mobile set, the size should be lesser than 128 x 128. and for that you may use, irfan view software. you can download thsi software from the net quite easily.

I got my e310 in feb and there has not been a single fault with it.Its great!Theres about 35 polyfonic ringtones and about 20 wallpapers that come with the phone.I suggest any one buying this phone because it is really good!Out of 10 i'd give it a 1000!But I have only found out that it came in grey aswell as blue which annoyed me a bit but I like my blue one!

U must use EasyGPRS software to exchange data betw PC&GSM. only pictures and ringtones(.mmf) are supported, it doesn't supporte .mid files. EasyGPRS is availaible on SAMSUNG site.

samsung e310 has a great design but a useless phone. infra red are totally useless cant send and can received. "my pictures folder content" couldnt be use as picture id.No file manager that you can transfer file from other directory to another. It can take video but it can not be sent.for that price there is no bluetooth. Samsung people why dont you learn from $onny Erricson. Had my Samsung E310 on a $20 plan signed up for 24mths. Cool phone but the texting seems a lot faster in my older Nokia3330. And I can't seem to get the message tone to vibrate and ring at the same time. It's one or the other. ggrrrr.... Any1 who could help me out here? Thanks

dont like this phone, had it 4 months and things started goin wrong, i.e switches itself off and messes up caller groups an caller i.d's (my brothers photo came up when my mum phoned!) and same thing happeed to my bro's e310 so we lined up replacements (wouldnt allow us to get different model so stuck with e310) as soon as i got it, realised the earpiece didnt work so i have no sound on my phone and cant have phonecalls without my handsfree it as i cnt hear the person at the end of the line. Overall, looks good but very very poor

Samsung SGH-E310 is the coolest fone,allows you to download and upload pics thro the IR port. Download EasyGPRS and go to file->setup and set the port to IRDA. Close and load again, with the phone IRDA port close to the laptop's IRDA port. You can now download images by clicking on Tool->Filemanager

the phone records for 30 seconds per clip... up to 5 clips are possible... just one question, can I record unlimited? I mean not just for 30 seconds but till the memory for recording drops? because 5 clips that's 30 seconds each is equivalent to 2 min and 30 sec. is it possible to record unlimited? do I download a something? where?

I really hate the disgusting lights that come on when the phone rings. Plus anyone know how to make the font smaller when I'm making a call? Numbers are too huge. Plus no snooze on the alarm. Only thing I like about this phone is the cam. I've switched from Nokia to Sony Ericsson to Samsung. Not sure if it was the right move

ok so this question goes around and remains unanswered... I'll try answer it for you guys... so it's the E300 versus E310... here it is... THEY ARE THE SAME PHONE!!! the difference? E300 is the original version and E310 is it operator version, also known as vodafone version... so E310's being vodafone sounds great at first huh? well not really... the software it uses is pretty lame... ugly... has got this 3-dimensional look in it... much like a drawing... lacking in style design and detail... it's menu sucks... unlike E300's menu... you'll find it cool, far more beautiful in style, color and design that vodafone. Besides Vodafone takes out a lot of fine features. This is bad unless of course you need vodafone... so if you want style... get E300... leave the vodafone E310 for those who need it. I've heard however that Samsung will be releasing non-vodafone version of E310... well that's a whew!

Nati, to check time, don't open phone just press and hold volume key on the side and the front LCD will light up and if you download easygprs 2.1.8 from samsungmobile.com you can transfer your contacts on mass. As for another reader i have the E310 and the default text input in multi-tap not T9. Can't change default and samsung can't help. cheers

I've purchased the same phone just 2 days ago. It has indeed a lot of style, and the color screen and the camera is beautiful. but there is a lack in its functions. e.g. you can not copy all contact from phone to sim, only 1 by 1. you can not keep the external screen on all the time (so you have to open the phone just for the time etc...) I rather have the cheap camera-less Nokia 3120.

this phone sucks! i have to admit that this phone has one of the coolest feature any phone could offer but the life span of it is very poor. i bought my phone last year only december to be exact. the problem is when i open my phone you won't see anything but white. i did'nt drop my phone and i took all the necessary handling for this phone but to no avail. it just went very bad. sorry but i regret buying this phone. grrrr!!!

i own a e310 and samsung showed me how to send the pics wo pc wif Irda. you need a usb to Irda adapter for those newbies that don't noe yet. after that you can go on the samsung website and download the program easy gprs 1.1 or something similar like that. if the port works click on the program then when it opens activite Infrared and put it next to the port. then there should be a symbol that shows upload and download click on there and its simple. i havent tried sending pics to other fones wif infrared i think you can only do that wif bluetooth. i dont noe i aint a fone expert.
