Good (almost great) product but man the battery life is so disappointing. I want to upgrade but I like the small size of this one and for the new small version coming out in 2018 there doesn't seem to be much improvement in the battery cell size. It is good for what it does, but it would have been great if it had even a slightly bigger battery.

My Samsung Gear S2 Classic is not connecting with my Samsung Galaxy S6, which came with a preinstalled Gear App. Though the watch pairs with the phone, it is not making connection as it fails every time I attempt to connect. Can anyone out there help? could it be a software problem with the watch or phone? how do I resolve this please. Returning the watch for now is unfeasible as I bought it outside my country of current residence. Thanks for the help.

The 3G version is capable of making calls in a stand alone capacity or as a Bluetooth connection to a phone. It does this due to a built in E-SIM that is not user changable. As far as using it on another carrier, I'm not sure. There might be a way, but I've not researched it. Web surfing isn't really something you can do on this watch. The S voice search can give you some basic stuff, but it always directs you to open on your phone. I've not had an issue. For the simple connectivity stuff this device is great, I can leave my phone in my pocket, but go to the phone for more in depth use.

I have been using the 3 version for over 3 weeks. I had used the Bluetooth versions prior to 3g one for 2 weeks. The 3g version is slightly thicker. The classic does not currently come in 3g. My biggest concern is battery life. I find that I take the charging cradle with me to work. At the end of the work day if I only receive two brief calls and around 8 texts and 25 emails I have 23 percent battery life left. On only 1 day the battery was dead by 4:30 pm. (Heavier use that day). It would have been nice if there had been some dramatic warning before the phone/watch wend dead. Battery aside, it is an awesome piece of equipment. I have two phone numbers forwarding to the watch. I therefore do not have to carry the two phones with me. Beautiful screen. Excellent interface. Craig G.

I bought the gear s2 sports watch end October and very much shocked that the strap broke at the hinges within two months of use. Samsung says no warranty on straps and refuses replacement Seems like very flimsy and poor quality of straps at the hinges. I got the 3g version of the phone the day it came out on Nov 15th. I have no problem recommending the phone. It does almost everything I want and the only complaint I have is the S Voice. Previous to this watch, I owned the Asus ZenWatch. That watch did very little for me. It had no speaker and could only do rudimentary functions. After the initial joy wore off, I found myself leaving it at home and wearing it as an afterthought. Not so with the Samsung. I wanted the 3g because without it, the watch was basically a round ZenWatch which did nothing for me. The people at the T-Mobile store set it up and it was quickly working. The watch did have to be activated. It has it's own phone number and has a $5 a month fee. I love that it makes and receives phone calls and to me this is the main selling point and what sets it above everything else out there. People hear me very clearly even when I am walking and my hands are at my side, and it is loud enough for me to hear clearly in most environments. About the calls itself. If your phone is on, you can set it up so it defaults to that number with call forwarding. In other words, if I go out, and leave the phone home which I often do, and someone calls, my phone gets the call and forwards it to my watch. If I want to call someone, the watch calls my phone, which then makes the call. This is good if you are calling someone and you want them to recognize your normal number. It has worked great and the same thing goes with texts. If you turn call forwarding off, your phone off, or if it dies, the watch goes back to its own number. So if someone calls you they have to call the watches number. If you call someone it comes up under the number assigned to the watch so someone may not recognize your number if its the first time you are calling them. Phone calls with this number work great. I love the way the watch looks. The body is a bit thick (subjective opinion) but I quickly go use to it and it does not bother me at all. A lot of people make a big deal about the spinning bezel which is kinda cool and something I show off when showing people the phone, but in reality, I rarely use it because swiping is just as easy and seems more natural to me. So subjectively, the bezel is cool, but not something I really use any more. I have no problem with the battery life but this is a subjective thing. I normally put it on around 6 in the morning and take it off around 10 at night. I use it a fair amount (subjective) during the day and it normally has between 50-60 percent when I take it off. I keep the display at 1/2 power (a 6 on their scale) and it works great. I have never had a problem seeing the display in any light. The dock is simple to put the phone in at night. I know this is a first world problem, but putting the ZenWatch in its cradle at night was a bit annoying. Charging the S watch is not. (subjectively) A lot of people complain about the lack of apps. I have not found this to be a problem. There's really not a lot that I am expecting the phone to do and am happy with the apps it has. My wife has the I watch and only uses a couple of the thousands of apps they have. The apps it has that I use and like. 1. Plenty of watch faces, I enjoy being able to instantly change the look of my watch. Subjectively there are plenty of choices, literally hundreds. 2. The Calendar app although currently limited. Anything you put in the calendar on your phone shows up on your watch calendar. I have not found a way to put stuff on the calendar from the watch and do not think it is possible at this time. 3. Calls and texting work great on the phone. 4. Timers and alarms work great and I find to be useful. 5. A flashlight app that is great for when you need a bit of light to see where you are going. 6. The calculator app works great. 7. I really enjoy the music app and this is another thing that sets it apart from many other phones. My hearing sucks and I don't like using headphones because I am worried about further damaging my hearing. I've loaded a couple of playlists onto the phone (subjectively easy to do) and listen to music from the watch when I go for walks and in a few other limited situations. loud enough for me to hear even with my bad hearing. Most other watches currently do not have speakers so no ability to play music. 8. voice recorder app. you can speak thoughts ideas and reminders into the watch and it translates it to writing. This works well. 9. There are plenty of health apps but I do not use them much beyond checking them out every now and then as a curiosity. They seems pretty cool though. I have found the watch to be very easy to navigate through and subjectively does not seem to be much of a learning curve. What I don' t like about the watch. The S voice is extremely disappointing. My wife has the I watch with Siri. When the watch is linked with her phone, she is able to ask the watch questions like "What is the Eagles score" or "When do the Eagles play", "What is the capital of Pa" etc...... and it does a really good job of answering the questions. When I do the same thing with the S voice it does nothing worthwhile. If I ask it "what's the capital of Pa" it will translate it to text perfectly. But the answer is always something extremely off topic like an article about budget fights, or an article about sewer rates. If I ask it "What's 5 times 5" once again it translates it to text perfectly, then answers about 5 take away's from the Clippers game. But if I use the S voice on the phone it answers the questions just fine. The S voice does seem to work fine with installed apps. If I want set an alarm I can use the wake up command and say "set time for 15 minutes" and it works fine. Or "activate simple flashlight" and the flashlight comes on. Or "play Genesis" and the music player comes on playing Genesis. But anything that requires the phone does not seem to work. One of the things that the Zenwatch could do that I have not figured out to do with the Samsung watch is control music playing through bluetooth speakers on my phone. In other words, if my phone is hooked up to a bluetooth speaker and I was using the native music app or Spotify I could control the music with my phone. I have not figured out how to do that with the Samsung watch. Overall, I love the watch. I use it everyday and find it very useful. I leave my phone at home most of the time now. This does have drawbacks. I have a lot more music on my phone plus spotify that I often used in the car. It's nice to have the ability to take picture if needed. (although I really don't do that very often) But it's also nice to beat the addiction I have with the phone, surfing the web all the time and spending more time on it than I like. If you are going to get a watch that has useful functionality I think this is the one. It's a lot better than the other watches I've seen and used. (My wife's I watch, her Pebble which she had before the I watch, and my ZenWatch) The ability to leave your phone home, make/receive calls and texts, and play music set it apart from everything else out there.

I was looking only for wrist-phone and the Gear S works perfectly fine, I can get almost 3 days stand-by mode if I turn off GPS, 3G, wifi and bluetooth. I want to be able to use GPS/3G/Wifi/Bluetooth if I need to, but I mostly don't. That's what I have phone or tablet for. Receiving or making phone calls significantly reduces the amount of battery life though. It's just the stand by time. I have 2 phone numbers and I am using one phone number for emergency only for family and it's in the Gear S. Regular phone calls are going through my mobile.

10 early observations about the Gear S2 3G I have had the watch for about 12 hours and have made the following conclusions: 1) Design. the watch is well designed and the bezel is a wonderful innovation for selecting items on the s screen. The bezel can be slippery however and is not always easy to grip if your hands are wet or dirty. 2) Software. the new Tizen software is very fluid and works well with the round watch face (a first for Samsung). Drawback here is the notifications. When multiple notifications come in, only the most recent shows on the watch face. If you do not scroll through the entire message, you will miss additional messages that came in at the same time. They are easy to find again however under the email or text message app on the watch. Deleting a message on the watch does not delete it on your phone. 3) Size and comfort. The size of the watch is not a problem, even for small wrists. It comes with two sets of watch bands for small and large wrists. The watch is fairly comfortable and does fit under my dress shirt sleeves even though it is a thick watch (1/2 inch thick case). 4) Connectivity. If you are considering this watch over the non 3g version it is because of the speakerphone and ability to use it independent of your mobile phone. The Bluetooth seems to stay connected well while you are near your phone, though there is sometimes a delay in the response on the watch when you connect to S-voice or another app that requires network connection. When you get the watch, many of the connectivity features (gps, nfc, wifi, and 3g) are turned off by default. Once you turn these on, things do work better. The optimal setting appears to be having the "auto" 3g feature. What this is is when you leave range of connection to your phone, a messages appears on the watch to tell you that it has lost connection and will be switching to 3g in 10 seconds. I waited and it did work. I verified this by using s-voice to call my work number and it connected without a problem. I will need to do more tinkering with this to see how well and consistently it works. 5) Apps. As most reviewers have already commented, this is a weakness of tizen. Particularly when it comes to finding businesses, restaurants, etc. and social media. There is Yelp, but it only suggests a list of the top 20 places around you, which it misses many other places that I frequent. There is no Facebook. Watch faces are plenty so don't worry there. Basically, the apps are good for notifications and maybe navigation (though I have not had time to really test this). 6) S-voice. This is perhaps my biggest frustration. S-voice is not reliable on the watch. I find that it does not connect to the server on about one out of three attempts. I also have to repeat what I am asking for about one out of every four times. It just seems to lag and be slow to respond. Also, S-voice will often tell you that "that feature is not supported" when you ask things like "how do I get home?" or find "china takeout in Miami." Seriously, this is Samsung's greatest weakness in my opinion. Sir (apple) and Google search (android wear) work great as a personal assistant, but s-voice is extremely limited to calendar, contacts, and asking what time the sun rises and sets. This is the watches greatest let down for me. 7) Battery life. I haven't had the watch long enough to give a solid opinion, but I have concerns. Today is my first day of a full charge and I am only two hours into the day and the watch is already down to 84%. I do not have WiFi, GPS, or 3g on. Nor do I have the screen always on mode. I cannot figure what is draining the watch at 7% an hour. Hopefully this improves or I will not make it though a full day. 8) Samsung Pay/NFC. I was very much looking forward to this feature for easy payment at the store. I have an 8 month old so my hands are often full. Unfortunately, Samsung Pay is only available if you have a Samsung Galaxy 6 or Note 5 device. Apparently my year old Galaxy S5 is too archaic to support this application (insert sarcasm). 9) Speaker. I was disappointed to find the volume and clarity of the speaker to be about 30% less/worse than the Samsung Gear 2 watch. It is hard to hear the prompts or caller at full volume if it is noisy around you. Basically, you will need to be in a quiet environment to have a conversation on this watch unless you get a Bluetooth earpiece (another battery drainer). 10) Number Sync. This is AT&T's way of using your main phone number on your watch as well. This feature is not yet available. What this means is that for now, your watch has it's own phone number should you lose Bluetooth connection to your mobile phone, the watch will use it's own internal 3g cellular transmitter with its own phone number. So, be sure to let your loved ones know about this new number if you plan to go cruising with just your watch (I'd love to ditch my mobile on the weekends, it's why I got the watch). Overall, this watch has great potential, though it feels like a beta version in some ways rather than a market ready product. I believe most of this can be fixed with software updates, but Samsung HAS to improve S-voice capabilities for this watch to reach its potential. Also, Sammy, please release Samsung pay to other Samsung phones. Enjoy techies!

You don't understand anything. Androind doesn't allow disconnecting the device from phone. You can't have Android and separate watch WITH phone function and data plan. Google doesn't allow this, they want to tie everything to their Android phone. The fact you can use Watch as a phone or as independent data device is what makes this device attractive over other watches. So if you don't like Tizen, means you don't need standalone LTE/4G/GSM function on the watch, so buy yourself a Motorola 360. Don't complain without understanding the facts.

Due to overwhelming majority of people not really using the cam. Prefer ing the use higher res camera on phone or tablet. Also with a bigger 1080p+ OLED viewfinder as apposed to a round 360x360 pixel screen, you'll take much better pictures. Also lack of camera makes device thinner
