i will recommend my friend to buy this fone.becase it is a greater fone.use it smoothly otherwise it will be very unlucky.if you remove battery without swithing off your phone will dissable hdd and we cannot use hdd all data will be loss.but its bluetooth is very slow.its sound is very good.scrolling and camera also

guys don't pe panic about hdd its shows error when the battery is low. this cell has some extra features that u have never seen in other mobile when the battery gets low the hdd is not showing and u cant play song after recharging battery go to file manager and just refresh the hdd will appear any help needed call me 9220458694 !!!

Ok this phone has been out for a while now so its not the most up to date mobile on the market. But you can still buy them in the uk and i brought one sim free for �50. I have to say, this is worth every penny of �50. Its fantastic. Music quality is very good (although not as good as se walkman). The camera is quite good considering its only a 1.3mp, and i have seen worse pics taken with 2mp cameras. Plus you get a lot of extras with it, 2 batteries (il get on to them in a moment), earphones, another earphone adaptor thing so you can use your own, docking stand, strap, alot for the money. However it does have its downsides. First the battery life. Forget the standard battery, that wouldnt power a wall clock for a day yet alone this phone. It comes with a extended battery which if you actually want to use this phone is the one you have to use. The standard battery was half dead within the first 5 hours of use! The extended battery however is lasting much much much much longer though (i rekon it will last me 2 days with basic use). The extended battery however is big and adds bulk therefore weight to the phone, so if you were not to use the extended battery, then you should look for another phone because the standard battery is useless. Also, the phone does take a bit of getting used to at first. However great phone if you dont mind having a heavy bulky phone with no style but loads of functionality.

the correct band in the U.S. would be 850 and 1900, 900 is in asia. I bought this phone bout a month ago.. It's amazing! Big internal memory + external memory! Very nice What I don't like is the alarm will not work if you turn off the phone.. and the battery life is also very weak... But luckily it is provided with 2 batteries. No radio features either. But it's still a good phone :-)

This is a great phone I just have one fault I cannot get a httpmail server that works! The only one I can find is by Adrian Software and it will not install!!! Got my set yesterday! Super Cool phone!!! One question: How do you turn on the speaker phone while on a call?? PS: U can make the flash act as a torch by holding down the Side 'volume Down' button! It will turn the flash on for 1 minute...press it again for turning it off.

The site has some cool pictures...they even compare the phones with the Ipod Nano!! Thats what I have been begging Gsm Arena to do...a review I300X VS N91 in English please. Take the example from the above link. These two phones are the only competitors in this league... SonyEricsson is still out!! My Verdict: Windows Mobile outclass Symbian OS by Miles!!! i just got this phone 3 days ago and my first impression was .... amazing phone!very solid yet very light, the screen was very nice! it was very bright and very vivid! the scrollwheel was 50/50 for me, its LOVE AND HATE feelin. the phne was very slow even though it said that this thing has 400+ mhz? the hdd is my main concern, eventhough its very nice to have a 3gig on a phone i still sometimes think that its fragile! so im afraid to drop this thing.the music quality is exceptional My k750i is still alot better when it comes to producing sound quality. etc etc... overall this phone is very good especially the screen and the material quality! love it. ps.. one more thing, the battery suckass! lol. the exteded battery makes the phone looks like a hunchback! >.

This phone really rocks! Apart from the low battery at only 4hrs with the standard battery, I would have liked it better if it had an FM tuner built-in. Will Samsung people consider implanting one in the future models? That would satisfy many FM radio enthusaiats! hi, i have discovered a nice option to maximize the battery life of the phone. with this option, u will get about 5 hours of music play, 2 hours of talk time and some change time for other activities with the standard battery and u can double all of the above time with the extended battery. click start, go to settings, go to more, go to power management and change all the following. backlight time - 5 sec display timeout - 1 minute display brightness - 1 and that's it. u got it. that will work like the charm and thanks to me.

Had this phone now for a couple of weeks. Initial impressions: Beautiful device to use. Build quality is superb, 2003SE is snappy with the 416 Mhz CPU, TCPMP (Movie player) plays all my Movies flawlessly (including AVI's, Ogg,MPEG's and WMV). Excellent display quality (best I've seen on any Smartphone except VGA screens on PPC's). Film playback is sharp & Crisp and scroling through lrge film files is fast and impressive! I use the 3Gig harddrive to store several films (gimmick really!) and to store important files thus I use my i300 as a mobile hardrive and often use its 'MassStorage' USB interface to easily transfer data to and fro other computers. Cons: Because the hard drive literally zapps enormous amounts of power....I still use a memory card for software installs and other data i regulary access (reducing my use of the harddrive to preserve power). The thin battery will get you through the day...providing you hardly use the phone!!(and I'm just talking phone calls)- Battery life is the worst I've ever experienced. The fatter battery is considerably better and will last the day even with heavy usage (omitting hard drive use!!). Truth be told, the abscence of wi-fi is now really starting to cheese me off as is the lack of available games software that actually is compliant with this QVGA device. Still...I've kept my MDA Vario/mini S, whilst i test this phone out. Depending on ones use for this device it will NOT suit all, but most who have one would not readily dismiss it as some have here. obviously they have had some bad experiences but mine is generally a satisfying one and I think I'll be keeping it and forsaking the 'wi-fi' and available games compatibility advantage the 'Vario' has over its more sophisticated cousin, the i300. The i300 is sheer class to look at and use in person (if you have ever used PPCs) it feels like a phone with limited Pocket PC functionality. However that which it does immitate, it does well. Final opinion: Even though i like it, it does suit my lifestyle and needs, but I wouldn't recommend it is because the exclusion of wi-fi and 3G was not necessary and should have been included as standard. But the low battery life is utterly ridiculous and quite honestly unacceptable for most people. The only workaround to it, is to limit the type of hard drive use and use a Transflash memory card in conjunction with the i300s' 3 gig drive.

This phone's got a large capacity drive, but be careful if anyone drops it, it's gonna cost ya...anyway pity there's no FM stereo built-in...Samsung should have got rid off that card slot (who needs an expansion memmory when there's 3GB on-board!! Instead of that silly card slot, should have been one FM micro chip...wake up Samsung! STMicro has announced that chip agaes ago!!! Also the phone is a bit too heavy @ 121g, makes it huge near other designs, but overall its' very sexy! :P c'mon! c'moc! aww! Peace bros!

thanks to hatchet - i posted b4 confusd of how2 get mp3 as ringtone but its de simple. ok, for jay ill explain step by step. press start, press 0 (more), press 0 (more), go to tools, go to file manager, go to my items, go to my sounds, highlight your song then click left to check it, press left soft key (edit), go to cut, press back twice, highlight the two dots (title above is HDD), the press left soft key (edit), press paste. this will take a few seconds. then click home button, start, settings, sounds, scroll through available ring tones and it will be there. ps. you can set shortcuts to save time - my file manager is shortcutted under 5 for example. on another note, anyone having trouble with the i300 freezing wen u turn it on, mine said alert not enough space then just froze, wel theres a simple solution to this so u dont need to return it. first of all perform a hard reset - turn off, take out and replace battery, then hold on button with 0, the phone will ask for a passkey and it is 1234 by default. after a few minutes it will reset but you will have lost all information, this is annoying for contacts, messages, etc, but to add all music agaen is very quick as it is not rely deleted just ready to be overwritten, if you understand. and to prevent this happening agen, ensure all applications/tasks are ended before turning off - this is essential. to do this press start, more, more, tools, task manager (like before i set a shortcut for this as u need to access it regularly). in task manager press menu, stop all. after all have been stopped your phone can be turned off and it shouldnt freeze. note - even when not turning off, applications should be stopped regularly to speed up the phone and to prevent it freezing. hope this has helped

it is a excellent phone and the features are very good. However they have stopped selling this phone at O2. Battery life was appalling compared to the D500 and D600!!!!!!!! Maybe these problems will go with the I310!!!!!!

to get mp3 as ring tone copy it into hdd. then go into sounds you will find it in there don't put the mp3 into any sub folders just directly into hdd i've done it with all the music on my fone works no problems

ok, to get mp3 as a ring tone, place in memory , music . or on the memory card, my one did not show up as ringtone to use but if you stil press ok it did take it , i could only do 2. as for the hardrive , yes my one went , took it back and had to be sent off to samsung. still waiting , 25 april . dont want the phone but stuck with it ,less i want to lose my number . Great phone until i had a problem yesterday when turning it back on and it stated that 'no home screen installed' and then stated didnt have enough memory, please delete data but wouldnt let me do anything. Took my phone back and they exchanged it with no problem.

Glad to see the back of this now. Don't get me wrong, it has some good features, but a lot of them have inherent problems which cannot be worked around. The lack of useable voice dialing was my main gripe, but the distortion of voices through the phone (better via bluetooth, though bassy), was also poor. The 3gb drive is cool, but it's not for me....I found what I need in the O2 Exec...that has features beyond belief for a smartphone. Good luc with the i300 if yo should choose it...I'm sure it will suit a lot of people out there. And hey, if we all liked the same phone, there'd only be one brand and one model...right?

umm what can i say about this phone , its sounds great , with its 3gbhard drive , but what happens if it fails, well you not got much of a phone , and guess what , it did. as for replacing it , NO. dont like the phone , i had my one for just over a month and will be happy when it go,s. back to my old s700i , lease that works ,and its got photo to number and loads of software for it. think carefully before you get one , software to download not much about as the same for games .Might have a lookat the benQ siemens when it comes out in march.

2Rich You're right. Samsung support for that particular model is absolutely marginal. I think it's just because they have no real plans to implement it any more. In Germany, for example, they could not force the phone to work with O2 network... Shame on Samsung.

Nope, 3rd one now and it's pretty much as bad as the others....enough now, it can go back. Voice dialling poor, in call quality of sound is poor. Shame really, I liked the phone, but even going to Samsung had the response of "Well, it might just be poor on that particular model"....great, what service! If you want a music phone with big storage, then great, but don't anticipate it being anything other than a basic phone...my old 6230 beats it hands down for basic phone functions....even that voice dialled when driving. The only time the Samsung works is if its completely quiet, then some of the time it picks the right contact.

Rich, you should add the voice tag to the contact through the BT handsfree... It works perfect in my case. I do not know what causes the problem. After a month of using this phone, I should say I will probably replace it with Nokia e70 ASAP... :-)

Stupid phone....!!! I got my replacement today and re-synced all my files etc....ok, no problems apart from it deleting the odd wav file when it sees fit!! What's that about? Worst problem though is the Voice dial...what a waste of time...it gets the correct number maybe 1 out of 10 times, (less via a bluetooth headset) thus it's useless for me (and probably anyone else that drives a lot in connection with work). What's the point of it having all the bells and whistles if it can't even do a simple task such as voice dial...my old 6230 did that 2 years ago..!! Oh well, back it goes for something else then I guess. Maybe a separate phone and PDA...now where did I put that trusty old Nokia? Bye bye Samsung (unless someone can tell me how I record my voice and link it to my "Contatcs" so it recognises what I say and dials the correct number...as far as Ican tell, the i300 does not have this simple feature). I think it is an amazing and stunning phone but i am in two minds whether to buy this phone or not. Meanwhile the phone has gone back as faulty...speaker distorted every voice, and was worse via bluetooth, all bassy and muffled sounding...anyone else found this? Also, the voice dial would not recognise any name via bluetooth (Jabra 250V), and threw up all sorts or just failed. Is this normal? For all those asking about SMS tone changes...I stored a small Wav file to the memory of the phone where all the other SMS tones are listed and it worked perfectly. Seems as though there's limited storage though as I initially stored 3, but only 2 stayed when I rebooted after a recharge.

hey if u go onto harddrive(hdd), settings, disk space, then disk compression, you can compress it so u can have a hard drive equilavent of 6gb! very slightly less but round about. it would mean all mp3s turned to aac, and resolution of photos/vids slighlty downgraded but this is hardly noticed. i did it today and it means i can now hold double the amount of songs. cant believe no one told me about this, well worth doing.

Just to let people know, TomTom Mobile 5 will run on the samsung i300 if you transfer it onto a MicroSD card as tomtom is not supplied on one yet, also the 5.2 upgrade is needed as it doesn't run the 5.0 version.

To use Photo ID functions, you need the third party software like IA Caller ID. There are no internal tools to do this. Everybody who bought i300 is screwed up by Samsung. :-/

I've had one of these for a few weeks now. The hard disk is a nice addition, but it saps the battery life so quickly that's made it only worth accessing when the phone is plugged into the mains or a PC. Using a MicroSD helps quite a lot, it's changed the battery life from about half a day to a day, while using the phone. I can only get about 2 days use out of it if I just do the odd text message and ensure that all unused apps are closed. The sound from the speakers in the back is quite good, I would says it's almost as good as the passive sony speakers I bought a few years ago for my Walkman. It's shame that you can't use the speakers for handsfree talking though (unless I've just not found out how to do it yet). The best feature I've found on it is a bit of software they've included on the CD. It allows the InfraRed port (Samsung saw fit to include a decent one, not the usual rubbish 1 foot range job on most mobile phones) to work as a remote control. I've got it set up for the TV and stereo, it learns remotes quite well. All in all I am quite happy with it, but I eagerly await a rom update to fix battery life, either by choosing whether to disconnect the HDD or improving it by other means, as well as an update for Windows Mobile 5.

as someone posted below you have to put the mp3 into 'my documents' on the hdd. Then when you disconnect from the computer it will be available as a ringtone. And the usb lead DOES charge the phone :)

As the post below says you can put the mp3's in my documents on the hard drive. You can also put them in the storage - application data - sounds folder with all the others on the phone if you dont want to rely on using the hard drive.

You can use mp3 as a ringtone!!, save your mp3 to My Documents on HDD (3gb hardisk) and you set mp3's as your ringtone because thats what i've done.

I'm on my 2nd - 1st was full of problems. This ones software seems to have slight changes but after 2 days im worried I might hand it back and start searching again. Its great to use and hold but the battery is my biggest gripe. With hardly any use the standard battery only seems to last 2 days, and with heavyish use the extended battery (included foc) lasted under a day. Also when the battery gets to under 20% the hard drive disconnects.

I recieved my i300 a week ago now (o2 sent me two by mistake but i returned it :)... and now i think its time for a fair evaluation. This phone is superb compared to most phones out at the moment as it runs windows 2003 its easy to use plus there are too many little things that good about this phone. After i synchronized this with my computer i began installin programmes n makin use of the 3gb hardrive. Transferring files with bluetooth is useless but through USB its very quick. One thing not mentioned before...this phone players mpgs,wmv,avi files so no more converting to 3gp. This phone doesnt switch off or crash and yes, you can listen to music n do other things at the same time. Also internet is awesome, its just like on ya computer u can surf mostly anything besides Java application sites but im sure u can install software etc on the phone. Msn messenger is another brilliant addition on this phone as again its like using ur computer n u can leave msn messenger on n do other stuff like play games on ya phone. If any1 wants to know anythin bout this phone just email me, cuz i know its difficult trying to find out abt new phones :).

I recieved my i300 yesterday, charged the battery for 16 hours overnight turned it on this morning at 6am and the battery was dead by 5pm. That was with a bit of playing around with the settings and a quick play of one song on the media player. The battery may get a bit longer life with a few more charges but this is not enough for me so i'm returning mine tomorrow. I think i'll stick with my w800 until the w900 becomes widely available.

samsung i300 comes out 24th november on o2 CONTRACT only, i should know, i work for o2 Samsung. phone is smart, and very up to date, it can store up to 750songs and has a 7hour battery life, i would say def the phone of 2005 handsdown.

I did look at imate sp5/sp5m, the only weakness are slow cpu and weak joystick, i300 is better on these. I like i300's design, hard drive and ipod nav, I don't mind it's wm2003SE, but with only the slow GPRS connectivity really disappoint me. If they add either 3G ,EDGE or Wifi like SP5, i will buy it.

This model is very interesting but I'm not sure that is able to replace my iPAQ.That is because of the small screen(only 2" while my mobile phone which is not smartphone has a 2.2" screen)The prosessor and the RAM(64MB)are good for watching big video files(even DVD)but the screen does not help.The greatest advantage is the 3GB microdrive.No memory cards anymore!!The luck of FM radio is cammon for such a device.If the price is up to 450 euro...this would be nice!

Just saw one walking around in Paris with some engineers from Samsung that were testing it. The form factor is slightly thinner and the ends tapered. Also, they claimed it was UMTS in addition to the triband GSM. Nice machine I have to admit. They let me put it side by side with my 6680 and it definitely looks good.

I have a pre-production unit of this phone running on WM5. Its pretty small and fast, the hard disk is missing but i can use the micro sd slot. Screen is wonderful, tinier than my spv c500 but way way better in terms of quality and clarity. Ill get a final version for testing next month and i plan to see this one. It works perfectly but theres no guarantee and no 3gb hard disk.

There's not much info on the phone, Does it play mp3 ring tones? I know it's expected to have it, but U never know, I bought an S700i and i expected to be able to have mp3 as message alert but that wasn't the case. I think this phone has good features, I like candy bar phones cause they're durable. Windows is a plus. I hope it does come out and i hope it's not overpriced.

The devil is in the details with smartphones both Windows and Symbian. I have owned a number of "smartphones" and of yet they have been of below average IQ. Details like changing rings, accessories, fonts, and backlighting by profile or even autodetecting car kits or handsfree are missing form almost all Windows smartphones. Then try to get and send email in a reliable way that can still be read from an exchange server if you are using a symbian based smartphone without loading "extra" software that IT will kill you for. Long story short I eagarly await this phone to see how detail oriented Samsung is. I do have to admit that forgeting to include the FM radio feature in such a otherwise feature rich phone does not make me overly optimistic that this device will really satisfy a road warrior like myself.

windows mobile for me is the best OS for mobile phones,currently using a windows 2003 OS phone and it rocks!!!looking forward to windows mobile 5 OS for smartphone which includes wmp10. Move aside symbian phone,windows mobile is taking over!!!!!

This phone rocks! I haven't seen better and i probably won't see any better. this 3GB, display pixels, samsung quality video and photos, cool design, ipod wheel, windows mobile & etc. just fill my soul 'bout it! lol how can anyone compare it to the poor SE, that have never seen something like OS?! SE sux sux! i300 kickz ass! i can't wait to have it. i'm sure it will be expensive pleasure but i won't be stingy and will do anything to buy it. just can anyone tell me when this phone is coming? some people say that it will come 3/4 of this year. i live in Bulgaria and it should come 1-2 months later than that, so i do my best to get it from USA to here as soon as it's reliesed.

i think this phone is long over due to the market. The ericsson k750 and nokia 6680 are introduced in q1, 2005 and its out to the market already. my point is, by the time this phone finally come out, there will be more phones as an upgrade to this phone.

I dont hav sound knowledge abt high tec phones,can someone tell me does i300 have mp3 "ringtones" like i750? Cos it's not said in d specifications?It has windows mobile,does it mean that it includes HTML browser, .ppt .xls support like 7710? If not does i750 have all those? I am waiting this phone till March 2005. Please tell me of what date this phone will come in Pakistan. But this phone have no FM Radio and no Dual Camera so we can't do video call. But the memory of this phone is not a small memory we can add the 3GB's data in it. And also that this phone OS is Windows Mobile 2005. It's is Intersting.

Im sure it would have better ring tones than just polyphonic?? Maube MP3 or WMA?? Also Im sure it would have Instant Messaging?? I think this phone is a good size for the features it holds although missing, FM Radio, 2 MP Camera, Touchscreen, Stereo Speakers...

Having used both MS and Symbian/Nokia stuff extensively, I can assure you, the MS interface is far easier and more intuitive. Nokia's little icons look childish and disorganized, and burrowing through their disorganized menus and scrolling across their indecipherable icons is seriously annoying. As far as watching TV or wanting to make video calls--I can do just fine without those. As long as there's a nice screen to play my multimedia files, and a megapixel video and still camera with flash, I am happy. I also don't care about having a radio...but if it must have one, I would like the airport frequencies as well. I love listening to that, especially at busy international airports. But it's not really an important feature...just a "cool" thing to have.

Well this fone sounds great, but no Fm radio. Well u ve T-flash card slot but how common is the card in the market, Not to forget it is powered by Windows( gosh not that operating system again). Nevertheless a real good fone from samsung and probably the best they have created judging by Features.

It's a very smart Phone. But No FM Radio and No Dual Camera so we can't do video call with this phone. But i can say it's a very interesting feature phone beacuase we can add 3GB memory in it.

excellent phone. i pod style click wheel, windows os (means emulation like game boy advance, playstation, super nintendo, megadrive etc), there is also a way to play pc games on windows mobile i just need to figure it out. also you can get realone player for this and possibly an fm radio accessory somewhere (fm radio isn't an important issue for me since i'm gettin an mp4 player anyway that can use fm radio).

I find it interesting that they named it the "i300"... I am a former i330 owner.. great phone, although buggy. When it came out on SprintPCS it was all the rave!

i must say that i prefer the w800 becouse of its 30h plyback suport its 2mp camera wich i sean what it can do its like the s700 at 2 mp it was comperd with a canon so daaa its cool and i prefer the memory stick becouse its liter so macking the phone liter a read that the w800 suports 3 g not 1 aniway a belive that 0.5g its enoth if not buy a biger card ouuuu and bye the whay win mobile its crap i prefer symbian or non symbian the samsung its cool to i got more respect for anycall i mean samsung(thi mobiles are old in corea japan ..) gg sony gg samsung

believe it or not i seen on a site that researchers predict that most phones will have built in digital tv by 2007 and by 2009 smartphones will take over pdas by 2009 when sales for pdas drop and will have psp quality games (r.i.p pdas). it should be interesting to see the outcome of this by then phones will probably have the ability to record from tv and have huge hdd. this should be good but will be hard to keep up with but it also means less portables to carry around.

hmm just a pity this didn't have fm radio ah well i might get a Newgen D2000W which has an fm radio, windows mobile, a 1.3mp camera, 256k screen and it is the same size as a samsung d500 with the same slide phone form factor, the only thing is that it doesn't have a hdd but it has mini sd card slot but anyway i'm getting a 30gb linux pma anyway that will hold more or less all my songs but this phone will be perfect for a reasonable amount too and fun features with the camera, fm radio, games and stuff.

i see that everyone keeps comparing this to the w800. the only advantages that the w800 has is the fm radio, smaller in size, lighter and 2mp camera but imo i think that the i300 is better. the i300 already has 3gb built in whilst with the w800 you can only hold up to either 1gb or 2gb (i can't mind) which will cost a lot. also i300 has a windows os allowing lots of applications and emulation allowing you to play playstation games , nintendo 64 games, game boy advance games, pc games etc. to finish the i300 has click wheel like ipod making it a perfect ipod phone. what do i care about 2mp as i think 1.3mp is very clear (especially samsungs cameras). i300 rules.

the rivals to all the new phones from samsung will be the new SE phones, the 240x320 screen resolution from samsung over the SE 176x220 might just settle the rivalry for samsung. BUT as an overall phone for functionality and quality nokia still lead the way, OK they are releasing very few (none handsets) but you have got to remember samsung are producing flash phones with amazing cameras - and very poor in the other areas- ie applications. the only true phone i am impressed with is the i-300. but the menu wont be have as sophisticated as a nokia. i feel samsung are using the knowledge they have in electronics into they phones. but they still cant make a MOBILE phone. i have got a d500 by the way. (not for long though) because the menu isnt half as good as 6230 or k700.

Arguing about memory is futile, especially if Samsung want this model to compete with the SE W800 / K750 .... where is the radio capability?? Otherwise the 3GB HD is an excellent idea.
