When I bought my Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100, it came with the latest official Android update (Jelly Bean 4.1.2). However, it's no longer compatible with many of the current apps, so I was forced to look for unofficial updates. Earlier this year I flashed it with Lineage OS 15.1 (Android Oreo 8.1), and 1 month ago I flashed it again, this time with Lineage OS 16 (Android Pie 9). I attest that my faithful Galaxy SII works as wonderful, and I'm glad that even though it's an "obsolete" telephone (although very advanced for its time), I can keep it updated.

i got it updated all the way to Lineage 14.1 nightly the builds for the i9100 are no longer maintained, so one has to build from source if really needed

Nice man. You reviewed it well. I only gotta add that you should try a custom rom on this phone for sure. There are roms up to the latest version 9.0 for it. Very iconic phone,its specs were overpowered for its time and thats why its still good nowadays. I'll surely pick one for my collection

I had this phone from 3 August 2018 to 4 September 2018, stopped charging after 15 days then got a refund. I got 4.5 hours screen-on-time with a new battery which is abysmal. Performance was good (surprisingly) on 2.3.4, 4.0.3 and 4.1.2. Loads of battery packs are available at eBay ranging from 3500mAh to 4800mAh, they increase the phone size but you can get at minimum 10 hours screen-on-time which is similar to the Galaxy Fold. Still an impressive device in 2019. I am reminded about how light and empty-feeling they seemed after the (then) awesome HTC desire. Almost as much as the first time I held the original Star Tac. Mine is now 8 years old and with a $10 replacement battery it works well! The OS updates have slowed it down of course and some apps are painfully slow. However, everything works and it is a great emergency phone. The camera looks misty - seems to be an issue with some old devices. When hiking it's a great spare phone but mainly, it's got a heap of tunes and audio books - without a SIM it runs for days and charges very quickly. I tend to walk with it for hours at a time and leave my main phone off... These things are durable compared to new devices so kids can play with them fine. I wouldn't try to rely on one as my main phone except when trouble strikes. As a spare thing around the house or while travelling, they're still very useful. The S2 form factor is good, not just for people with smaller hands! I expect that as trend change, an S2 -sized machine with faster internals will again be popular. Maybe we will all have tablets plus a little phone? A souped-up S2 would be very handy.

Pros: Nice Screen Decent Performance Design (subjective) 90% of apps will still work Cons: Build quality isn't great, somehow managed to not break even after flexing it with full force Android 4.3 minimum would have been better Heats up alot around the camera after a few mins of use.

Mine is 7 yrs old now, and the original battery still stores enough juice for 24+ hrs. Running LineageOS 14.1 (without Google Apps, though), which gets weekly updates. This in turn means continued up-to-date security fixes based on Android 7.1.2. Yay! \o/ The hardware proved to be very sturdy and easy to maintain (e.g. internal cleanup).

I just held this phone (the international i9100) in person and oh my god it is really NICE!!! I definitely prefer the feel of this than the Galaxy S3. I (in my opinion) even think it's a better feel in the hand than the iPhone SE! I know I might sound like someone from 2011 but no I am from 2018 and being absolutely serious about everything I just said. This phone (in terms of the feel in hand) is my absolute FAVOURITE!!!

Try getting rid of dumpstate log. Type *#9900# on phone keypad and select "Delete dumpstate/logcat" This can build up to phenomenal size but can't be seen. I had same problem about storage and this cured prob

I have been using this mobile since November 2011. It's my first android mobile and it's still working after 6 years. Never had any problem with the mobile. It's built quality is good. I hoping I can complete few more years of it's usage. Maybe by then I will replace it with a much upgraded mobile phone. Till then I will use my galaxy S2 until it stops working.

there will be updates on google chrome,firefox and windows internet explorer.Grab an SD card(if you have one)and put the operating system files on the SD card.Just check to see if you have enough space on it.And insert it into your phone.After this you need your phone to be turned off.Then you need to push in the home+power and volume up button.Then you use vol up and vol down and home button to navigate.Then you need to to go to "update/recover from SD card"then you find the update in the folder you put it in.Then you go back.Which is the ../ button.Then when you got to the screen you started at to press reeboot system now. Then it should take longer to boot(that's normal)set everything up and your done! Enjoy your brand new update on your galaxy s2!

Well, as for lags on games on this phone, i hardly notice such. This phone takes on games like a knife cuts through butter. .. Software updates has done a devastating punch to its chips and cpu causing a great hole to the battery... Apart from that, this phone still throws brilliant fireworks that puts new generation phones at a corner.

Did you mean: Unfortunately you may be able to use it, but once you start any games the phone may slow down or even crash, because the CPU and GPU are an old slow design. Other general apps may lag a bit too.

Using one with lineage (Nougat 7.1.2) and runs fine. Still lags occasionally, but only very slightly now and is every bit as good as when it first came out. The lag is not much different to my main Android phone.

Yes, still handles those apps fine, but you'll be using old versions on the latest stock firmware. You can install CyanogenMod/LineageOS if you wish to benefit from the latest Android features, but do be aware that it gets a bit slow and laggy. I would steer away from it unless it's very cheap, as you will be getting very poor battery life with updated OS and apps. The CPU inside this phone is not particularly power efficient and latest apps hammer it a bit too much. Also the charging circuit is weak and the phone has to be idle to charge. I have done some hardware mods to my phone that are not in everyone's reach and barely excuse myself for still using it. There are loads of better cheap phones now.

Check your bloatware...and googleplay / messenger / facebook keeps running, u might need to change custom rom since almost all apps are up to date and for high end devices. limit your apps.

Wow 6 years, I'm still using this phone till now and planning to upgrade, I'm playing mobile legends using a Ps3 controller and connected to HD TV using this phone and still works excellent,. u just need to root and install titanium backup then disable bloatware and u are good to go!!! my wife is envious that I'm playing through our HD TV using this.

Hi there I I have that problem too. The heat is probably a combination of the phone working hard to run apps designed for phones that 5 years newer. The battery may also be damaged which can cause heat because it is not able to supply the phones needs. A few telltale signs would be shorter periods between charges, as well as a faster charging time to reach a 100%.Also,you may want to check the battery for swelling. ( It should be flat on both sides) but even if it's no swollen it doesn't necessarily mean that it's not damaged. A new battery can easily be ordered from a variety of websites but it might be more practical to look at purchasing a new phone . I have a similar if not the same problem as you and I think I will be doing just that. Have a look at the the Motorola Moto G5 or G5 Plus. Very current (releasedonly a week or two ago), very capable, and works with practically every service provider in North America. And a Great Value.

Love it! Wonderful phone. Bought it when it was the flagship early in 2012. I've used it every day since then and it has worked like a dream - cell phone/ebooks/wifi/3G hotspot - everything! It still looks great and is just now, after 5 years of constant use, starting to give me connection/call problems. It's getting out-of-date and some of my favorite apps won't work on it anymore, but 5 years is a great run time for a phone. Soooo it's time to buy a new one. Use custom ROMs. I have Samsung Core and the ROM that I have installed has about 50% better benchmark results. Some have reached even 80-90% improvements. Also, you can backup data and delete the phone. It will improve the performance.

Yep, had mine since it first came out and it's still going strong (pico GApps and minimal apps). It's had various roms but Cyanogen (RIP) has been its saving grace. So far I've only had two smartphones, the HTC Hero, then this S2. Not sure what I'll get when(if) the S2 dies...

Indeed one of the best Samsung phones. Bought it in 2011, no cracks or anything even after some brutal crashes. Did change the OS multiple times as well as the battery once, but it just works like a work horse. Even today it's pretty snappy, though some apps do that a while to load, such as messanger, maps.me etc.

This is my first Android phone and I'm still using it to this day (since June 2011). Phone becomes a bit slow when using some apps as they are more resource hungry. Battery life is not as top notch as the phones of today. I'm using CM13 on this thing and I can confidently say I can still use it as my daily driver. Thank you Samsung for one heck of a phone xD

Hi. I've used this phone for the last 2 years. Good phone for pictures, calls and internet (when you're not in a hurry). When i turn on the data, the s2 freezes for about a min until it gets his updates, but my other s3 neo keeps rollling. When I plus in the charger, the s2 responds very slow and freezes, but the s3 neo works ok. The silver border gets wiped out really easy and looks ugly if you don't use a cover. The s2 is really thin for its age (was a great phone when was released, better than iphone 4 I think) but the display is a bit smalI. I would not recommend this phone in 2017 more than a backup phone for calls and short social media checks.

Use Cyanogenmod cm13 and can use it with Android 6.0.1. Install gapps micro f.e. to keep it fast. Had to repartition /system to make it bigger (1 GB). There' a manual out there with 42 steps in 3 categories which works fine. Forget heimdall, didn't work and the USB drivers switching for using heimdall is a hassle, too. Use Odin to flash.

Insert a different sim card borrowed from a friend to see if your phone recognize it, if that borrowed sim card does connect then your sim card is faulty, ask for an exchange or buy a new sim card. You can get 6.0 via CM13. But there is a slight problem in some as the phone's internal memory reserved is a bit low for both CM13 and Google apps which you need to download seperately. Make sure you partition your drives then proceed. I installed CM13 but did not install Google apps. Will do it soon . Cheers !

I have had mine since August 2011 and apart from updating Gingerbread 2.3 to Jelly Bean 4.1.2 about a year ago and adding a 16GB card, it's as new, perfect working order and condition (but I have it in a flip case). As they say "if it ain't broke don't fix it"... Great phone - Nuff said!

Well i had the battery drain issue and it used to switch off by itself . I did a whole factory reset with data wipe and the problem is gone. Moreover my battery life was not satisfactory because battery was already bloated. Replaced my battery recently, rooted the device (that too recently) and now running the cyanogen mod 13 marshmallow. This phone doesn't seem to give up. Well if its making a lot of problem, i would suggest you buying a new phone. Cheers !

It overheats front and back, battery drops from 57 to 17 in a matter of seconds, I have a handful of applications because the rest of them I had to delete because it had no space in the RAM memory, I don't have Facebook, I can't have any other app on it, it freezes whenever it likes to do so and I have to remove it's battery, one whole day it did not open although it was 100% charged and it kept showing the Samsung logo, making the sound like it would open, and then show the logo again... Seriously, does your S2 still work perfectly in March 2016? It means I had a bad one. Please respond! Thank you! P.S. I tried to go to a repair center with it several times and they said there's nothing they can do. It is too old.

My SGS2 is over 3 years old. Original battery still lasts 1 day. Now running CM12.1 ie Lollipop 5.1.1 (121115 Nightly) - flawlessly - fast gps fix - Free, Spirit2 FM radio installed is superb. One recent issue was phone often disconnect from network! Fixed by pressing down and slightly bending the sim card metal cover, applies more contact pressure to the sim gold contacts - now never disconnects from network! Lollipop wifi draining battery faster than Jellybean. Battery lasts much longer on 2G. A BUG in Lollipop is switching back to 3G. Wont do this automatically, says "3G(current 2G)" you have to go >Settings>Data usage, then disable and then enable "Mobile data" I have found to get back into 3G mode. My favourite apps/features - Calendar, txt/email, camera, bbc news, bbc weather widget, FM radio through main speaker often works without headphone antena, paid for version includes RDS!! For security I have my device encrypted. Always used a dual skin case-mate cover, recent new anti-fingerprints screen protector - super smooth! Looking forward to Marshmallow release for my SGS2. FM radio is so cool hahaha SGS6 owners can never have it because their hardware is disabled! But there is a big global drive for all mobile phones to include it as standard from now on, for emergency broadcast reasons etc so it might come in SGS7!? The SGS2 is still such a great device and lovely one handed form factor. I have a £5/m sim-only contract these days and am very happy! Yipeeee

Novermber 2015 My super nice SGS2 has been intermitently disconnecting from GSM network for no reason say 4-6 times every day. I had to frequently reboot to get to reconnect. This was going on for months. Driving me crazy. Just discovered this evening in superuser mode I was able to delete a dodgy app called 'Torch' as in light torch that had nasty permissions to record pics and audio!! It would not uninstall without being in superuser mode.. Now my SGS2 does not disconnect from the GSM network!!! YIPEEEEE ***PS I always cover my front camera with a bit of black tape. Guess this app didnt like the fact it couldn't take photographs by itself?! PPS Also installed Spirit1 FM radio that connects to the built in fm radio api. I have a custom rom that had no radio. So now my radio works for first time ever! There is a free version of this app on xda-developers. Pheeeew, feel like I have a new phone. SGS2 otherwise flawless for last 3 years still on same good battery!

1 go to the cyanogenmod website download the automatic installer 2 follow the steps 3 it will install kitkat on your phone everything will be deleted from previous version cwm recovery will install by itself 4 go to download the latest build 06/17 and latest gapps follow instructions on the xda website it may come up with a error message (something about directory or dev partition 12 or something) forgot 5 wait takes long 6if its done properly you are gonna go through set up complete and then go to cyaonogen update and update to latest nightly there is no current stable build of 5.1 we might be able to get a marshmallow update soon and btw everything works i use this rom as daily driver work perfect

9/10 - build quality 1/10 - software S2 is the worst phone i have ever had. The main problem is Samsung software (TouchWiz, Kies, etc). It is laggy, often crashes, not user friendly, complicated. GPS startup is very slow. Usually it takes 5-15 minutes to connect. Always had to turn off wifi and mobile data to prevent from accidental fast battery drain. Sometimes battery run out very fast if both connections are on. OK, maybe such gmail client is running in background, but why this is not a problem to other manufacture devices?

I used to face a similar problem and got my battery replaced. But even then the problem was not solved. Actually there was nothing wrong with my battery. The problem was due to a faulty battery calibration. I gave to a mobile shop for rectifying this and they calibrated it properly and now its working fine.

Hello guys , I have wee of a problem with this phone (SG S2). I can't seem to stop the ads popping up EVERYWHERE in ALL the Apps I use whenever I switch the Data On by myself. It's so damn annoying. Now recently as in 2 days ago the WiFi & the Mobile Data come on, they switch themselves on without being switches on by myself. I would look into the screen and watch them come back on after I've turned them off. This thing is chewing up my data. I no this phone was released in april 2011 I bought one second hand the other day and am quite happy with it.i was using Samsung galaxy s3 mini I thought was a bit small for scree size.and for people that what to update the phone download odin and the 4.1.2 firmware update works really well like the big Samsung s3.you have to put phone in download mode start odin and load the 4.1.2 into pda selection in odin and away you go make shure you have everything backed up as this will wipe your phone.also if it was unlocked by code you will have to unlock it.

One good thing about this phone is that it has MHL TV linking. This means that by plugging a standard low cost MICRO USB MHL Adapter into your phone you can watch the content on your big screen TV. I faced the same issue . Then looked up through the internet and a term "SLEEP OF DEATH" . The phone suddenly switches off and then when you turn it on, battery is drained out by 20-30 percent. I tried doing lots of stuffs but nothing really worked until I did a factory reset INCLUDING formatting the SD card . After that, my problems solved. SLEEP OF DEATH probably occurs due to some malwares that get into your phone through the internet. The only way to get rid of them I found was the way I did it mentioned above . :)

And the upgrade was never listed under "settings, about device, software update". Anyway, jelly bean is a big improvement over ice cream. It's like having a new phone all over again. Before the upgrade I was having problems...screen freezing, camera freezing, screen changing due to hyper-sensitivity along bezel edges, and screen going black. All those problems went away when I updated to jelly bean. Phone is working fine right now. Installed a new samsung brand battery, 1850 mAh for $9.00. two days ago because old battery was draining fast when on the internet. Now I'm going to wait until November, black friday, to possibly buy another phone, depending on prices, etc.

Galaxy S2 is phenomenal. Look around and you will find not a single phone with such a completeness. Even though phones now a days come with higher ram and more megapixel camera, they still hang. Many premium phones like Samsung S6, do not contain Java and radio but are priced so high. For the last three years the performance of my Galaxy S2 is awesome. No hanging, No heating and fluid scroll. Battery drains fast. Install Power max (paid version) and you will find it lasting for at least two days with regular use.

Galaxy s2 is a masterpiece. It stands the test of time. Look around and you will not get another phone like this. In most phones there are no FM radio and Java. Some or other features will be missing in other models. Although the RAM is only 1GB it runs all apps flawlessly. The phone never hangs for me. For the past three years it had been phenomenal . Battery draining can be checked by installing a paid version of POWERMAX. With the Powermax activated , charge the phone to the ful power. It will last at least for two full days. Samsung must upgrade this to lollipop.

Whatever you do don't root. I rooted my s2 and it is really buggy, unstable and just terrible. If you want lollipop just get Google now launcher or nova. Much better.

Really a good phone but not for sell anymore. Most store are selling second hand galaxy s2. Besides, i rather buy grand prime with similar price and better spec or the grand 2. A lot of mid range phones these day are similar to flagship devices from 3-5 years ago. Just like the grand 2 90% similar to the first galaxy note. Its a fact. If Apple still selling the first iphone, even youngster could afford them.

Using it for last 44 months and still going strong. Absolutely no problems even with heavy personal and business use. Battery is usually good for about 3 yrs, I had to replace mine about 6 months ago and now it lasts for the entire day. Only change I did after warranty period was to replace original Samsung android with Omega ROM. That got rid off all the unwanted samsung bloatware. I think that helped improving battery life and performance....

I had the same problem, because it was to less memory to upgrade the phone automatically. It suspended during this process. I have upgraded manually from PC and it works fine. Samsung should check the space needed before starting to upgrade, but it does not.

My S2 is more than 3.5yrs old now. All is ok except its doesnt get any signal(RF chip died) and gps doesnt work after it fell in water and was there for more than an hour! Except that everything works perfect. Use it for listning to music and browsing. Will use it till it dies... Really awesome phone :)

I had this phone for 3 years and few months before it's dead (hard brick). This model is bad in battery usage, as well as the common software instability which was the reason my phone got stuck into boot screen before dying while trying to flash software. in general the phone is between fair to good about everything except when it comes to battery/memory/software issues

Hey hlw guys I'm a proud owner this great device the Galaxy S2. I've had this phone (I9100) since September 2012 and NEVER had any problems with it, as it worked fine without any glitches. Never sent it for repairs whatsoever. But now I think the problem started when I bought a new battery (Samsung battery & NOT some cheap nock off) earlier this year. What happens is tht whenever I charge it to 100% FULL it almost always goes down by 2% immediately after removing the charger & here's what pisses me off the most is tht when it starts to reach mid 30% or 28/29% the screen starts to flicker and then after about 10 to 15 seconds of tht, WITH OUT it reaching 0% it DIES. Worst part is that it happens when I have switched off Bluetooth, WiFi and Snyc with Power saving mode enabled, with screen brightness at 10%. So guys please tell me is there something wrong with my phone or is it the new Samsung battery thts the issue?

Its been more than three and half years and contd. but i must say this phone worked absolutely fantastic and still working in fine conditions except few errors occurs sometimes and disappears away when i reboot.It is one of finest phone ever made by Samsung.Never had to go any service station for repair till date. Battery issue is with almost all phones let it be lenevo,motorolla (u may read in reviews) any,but as on today it battery back up last at least a day. Test for any mobile battery for three years,result u can know. Yes,phone some times heats up but it means extra applications are running in background.Stop thenm and leave your phone some time,it works again fine.Keep softwares ,programmes in SD card and keep phone memory free as much as possible,one can extract much faster speed. Internet always worked fine,and did everything with my phone weather making hot-spot,or tethering ,or using wi-fi direct.All programmes worked well but as everything has a life,so with this phone.Its getting older now and problems ae bound to occur. For now,in search of equivalent reliable phone,and search continues.

The Phone supports, with Kitkat 4.4.4, a microSD card of 128GB! I have this card formated in exFAT, and made swap partition of them to have full internal access to the 128GB of space. All works flawless and with the class 10's speed. Well in tests the real speed of access to the card was 14Mb/s, not the full speed of the card, but in my opinion is great for this phone! The microSD maximum speeds is 48Mb/s just to know. Great Mobile Phone!

If you're fone is rooted try to install cwm 6.0.4.5 or above to install custom rom kitkat or lollipop. First download any rom that you want also gapps see to it that rom and gapps are for Galaxy s2.

My Galaxy S2 is awesome and fun. But...I have to replace it about every 9 months. That is frustrating. And...the only way to replace it is with a reconditioned model which means it has been fixed after someone else sent it back, and most likely will never work for more than 9 months. Most likely, as phone prices come down, I will upgrade to an S3.

But noticed that the screen of the phone all turned into PINK, the battery bar used to be green, but now orange colour :( Other functions are all fine, such as making phone call, sending text, wifi,,, Any idea what's going on here? or anyone bumped into this situation before? Yes, if you install Cynamogen Mod 11 instead of the original ROM from Samsung.It´ll run really nice and smooth but you must to root the device. There are a lot of information in the internet about it.

Hello S2 users ... I have S3 & S2 , It's my pleasure to share my ideas with you ... Settings to speed up system to get maximum performance ( RAM & Battery ) for galaxy S2 : 1-in developer options scroll down to Drowing : select animation is off for ( windows animation scale - transion animation scale - animator duration scale ) . 2- in developer options scroll down to Apps : limit background processes and select 4 processes at most . ***( always repeat this selection after turn on or restart phone ) . 3- In application manager ( turn off ) (disable) unnecessary bloatware apps and services for ( google & samsung ) Because it always running in the background and consuming dramatically battery life and Ram .  4- Not install many apps that consuming battery and Ram such as social network apps or games ...etc, You must know that most of these applications are running in the background even if not used !!!!! Only install what you really need in your daily life . 5- in display reduce brightness level less than half . ( not use auto brightness ) 6- turn off ( Motion - Voice control - smart stay ) . 7- turned off ( sync ) google account & access to location . 8- Not use live wallpapers.  9- reduce number of pages & widget on home screen ( maximum 3 pages ) . 10- always clean up system ( Ram and cash ) . 11- use home button to close apps that running in the background . After that go to settings > application manager > runnig and stop active apps ( Except system apps ) . 12- use power saving mode to reduce battery consumption ( limit cpu speed ). My Opinion? the manufacturer made the phone and I know they have access to all their product as they Identify each unit using the unit's IMEI. then it's not possible for them to send bugs that creates issue for the phone to slow down and start having issue. There is a genuine questions raised by experts of why all of the sudden the old S2 and S3 phone from Samsung have been start having some issue, while there were working perfectly fine for years!!!!!!? There are some independent body who are looking into this, and I truly hope and pray for Samsung not be involve with this act. there are number suggestion such a special virus being send to disable the phone, or slow it down force you to go and buy a new phone, the idea is they cover the first two years and after that they want people to chuck their phone and buy a new one, of course who is benefiting here? this will come out soon, but I warn Samsung to be very careful if by any means they are involve (even not directly) there will be serious consequence for whoever doing this. Use app2sd or similar application to move your applications from the phone memory (2GB) to the internal SD card (16GB), by the way why don't you install CyanogenMod 11 KitKat 4.4.4, runs smoothly and I can never imagine going back to original Samsung ROM.

PLEASE HELP ME GUYS :( I just updated my os from ICS to JELLYBEAN 4.1.2 via ODIN MODE. Now i'm experiencing problem transferring my apps to its built-in 16gb memory which has total of 11.49gb because all of the apps that i've downloaded goes to DEVICE MEMORY which is only 1.97gb, then the 11.49gb is categorized as USB STORAGE. I already tried to application manager-on sd card-check the box-move to sd card, but it always says that "NOT ENOUGH MEMORY" even if i still have 11.38gb free memory. HOW CAN I FIX THIS ISSUE :'( the 16gb internal memory is now USELESS because of upgrading to jellybean 4.1.2 :'( i don't want my phone to be rooted just to make it fix. I am not so technical and if you read my past posts you see how much problem I have had with this phone, first started with battery, then I upgraded to useless JB and I am now stuck with it and it is truly rubbish. My phone is not rooted, first question I have is what is the disadvantage of rooting the phone? second question is how do I do it? also you talked about SlimSABER ROM, is that mean you needed to open the back of the phone and physically change the ROM? what happens if you root, then upgrade to Kitkat and keep the inside the phone the same? would it run smooth still? I am sorry, but I am not techy, but I always work my way around it, so if you explain in simple term I would most appreciated. Everyone's problems with this phone seem to revolve around the stock firmware and its updates. It's almost like Samsung is encouraging the use of rooting and different ROMs by doing this. I've had my S2 i777 for a couple years now, and I have had absolutely zero problems (for my rather pretentious personal use) with this phone since I rooted it and put a SlimSABER ROM on it. The SlimSABER ROM is developed around optimization and smooth performance as its central idea. Because I'm running Android 4.4.4 KitKat, performance is better than ever before with the increase in performance that inherently comes with KitKat's new RAM management. Thanks to SlimSABER, people with way better phones than mine are in awe, while their stock OS continues to lag, crash, glitch up, and otherwise just not do the right things.

Dear Original. many thanks for taking time to share your finding with me. Yes as I said I have tried all the power saving apps, including the one you mentioned, while I had a little improvement still battery drains to 50% of charge within 3 hours only on couple of short phone call and 10 minutes of browsing.!! It is now 2 days I have installed the jelly bean and I hate it already, it has taken my beautiful lovely phone and made it to semi brik piece of rubbish, who said Jelly bean is faster, it is not! I want my Gingerbread back but I know that is now gone forever! Samsung haven't done a good job with jelly bean and it is certainly not design for GS2, so if you thinking to upgrade to Jelly bean PLEASE DON'T! What is your OS? are you running JB? also regarding the battery apps, since yesterday I have been trying PowerMax from apps store, it is free. Actually I like it far better the Battery Saver and any other apps, give it a try it works. but still not fully sorted my battery saving problem, I guess the next step is reformatting the phone to original factory reset! I will do that in couple of days and report back here. but I have already tried those suggestions you made and in my case only made a little difference. My battery is brand new, original Samsung and still is a issue, which I believe is the phone/software! anyone else have any other suggestions?? but try PowerMax, it really save you some battery, but in my case there is a deeper problem somewhere else... I always have a SII and use to suffer like you. I then learnt all the tricks of the trade to let the phone consume less power. First of all...install EASY BATTERY SAVER from the play store and set the mode to SUPER POWER SAVING...it will kill your wi-fi connections when the phone goes to sleep...which is especially good if you fall asleep leaving wi-fi on. Turn off all the radios when you don't need them eg. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and Mobile Data. Turn off features like auto-sync, auto-backup etc. Reduce the brightness to little and nothing (you can have EASY BATTER SAVER do this for you as well). Let the batter deplete completely at times (as in that the phone shuts off due to a dead battery) before plugging in the charger and allow it to charge in off mode at times. There are many little tweaks you can do to get more battery life. I listed the main ones. Do some searches online for more tips. Please let me know the outcome.

seems no one could answer me , but since then I have found the following solutions which can help 1. there is one app which I never tried called PowerMax from the market, I installed it for few hours now and that seems to have improved the power consumption. 2. Also you need to go to your setting and activate your power SAVING mode, yes all the four options needs to be active. 3. If you using google Now then deactivate it if above failed try factory reset which means you need to back up ALL OF YOUR DATA/PIC/FILES etc, there is a second level of factory setting which it will keep your pictures/files but you lose texts, and apps etc, I suggest to try that one first. I am giving this a try for few days before re-set and report back, but so far I don't like jelly bean, don't upgrade because Gingerbread was fantastic. please share anything else that you tried and if that worked to save battery. Many thanks

this is because of cache memory is not cleared......it will not clear even if you format the phone..... just dial *#9900#.....you will see screen......click on delet dumpstate/logcat.........your problem is solved.....enjoy!

If it is working on 3g the coverage will show as H+. If it is low than 3g it show E or G means 2G or lower than that. Go to setting---More---Mobile Network--- and see whether the data mode on WCDMA/3g

I've been using this phone since 2011 November.. Still works like its new.. I've bought an iPhone the next year and guess what? It broke on the first fall.. This phone has certainly fell more than 30 times from my hand and had only one single scratch (not even visible properly).. Very fast performance.. Even tho RAM is only 1GB feels like it is 2GB.. Not a single time the phone has hung up.. Fast internet response and app performance.. Video resolution may be low but still had the capacity to run any resolution.. Audio quality is superb.. you should to switch it on recoverry mod. how to switch recovery mod: 1:- switch the mobile off 2:- press volume up key + home button + power button together. 3:- on the 2nd or 3rd line will be "wipe factory reset" click this by presing home button then yes. after that another option will b wipe cach partition press this also and yes.after done press reboot.your mobile will restart.it will take upto 3 to 5 mints. all the installed apps will b errase but your memory card or internal memory not b formated.do this.in simpal words your mobile will be factory reset. good luck

Since my nexus 5 and blackberry z10 have gone for repairs i had no other phone to use except this. I purchased this in late 2011 and its still holding up quite well. It lags here and there (jelly bean has made this phone perform like crap) but when i was using it on ICS i literally had no problems. This phone is the new nokia in terms of durability. I bought this phone in 2011 and used it concurrently with iphone 4 initially. The iphone 4 gave me alot of problem (home button, battery etc), then I changed to S4 (same, lots of OTHER problems), then iphone 5. The update to CM11 Android 4.4.4 is out. Way faster than the stock ROM and no Samsung bloatware. The RAM never really goes below 350 MB. The look of the interface is finally up to date, has transparent status bar and transparent drawer. Flashing CM onto device is (I think) highly recommended!

Poor Performance, facebook is a struggle nevermind dead trigger, battery could last 6-10H dependending how you use it, memory is also a con, cos it only has 2GB of on board storage as mine which is a 16GB, can only use that amount. On the bright side, Camera is great for pics, and the video is okay as it is locked zoomed in at 1080p but change the settings down to 720p and it's great to. Front camera has problems with lighting but just for skype it great to! Overall, i would buy this phone now as a last option i'll be soon upgrading to a nexus 5 costing in at £300 so that might be one to look out for...

I´ve bought one brand new half a year ago. With one click install the phone will be rooted and installs CM within a few seconds. I might replace this CM version with a newer one, but the 4.3.1 is kinda speedy and needs less ROM comparing to the stock. Nice looking handset and superior build quality (unlike the S3, S4 or S5). Also bought a neon green/black hybrid case for the unit which gives a much better grip and protects it. The screen resoltion is now far away from the premier league, but has vivid colours. Excellent choice if someone is looking for a reliable smartphone for average usage.

To GS2: I always say that Samsung went all out with the S2. Sometimes I hold it just for the fun of it. This smartphone has everything and it even seems faster to me than the rest and the rest of them. I have never had any form of memory issues and the CPU is lightening fast...much faster than some of the quad cores out there. The S2 is still a phone to reckon with.

Install Clean Master from app store that would transform your phone and junks you have accumulated, that would improve your batter, if it doesn't then do a master reset but back up your data/files everything first. make sure your battery is FULL before doing the master re-set that is so important, if you battery fails during the re-set then you truly will have a big issue with the phone and may not be able to recover it. Ok let me help you, don't upgrade but just go to setting and hard-reset your phone, including formatting BUT PLEASE BACK UP ALL OF YOUR DATA first. then go to market and download Master Clean app, then you wouldn't have problem. You can also try master clean first before resetting your phone to see if your problem resolved, if not do the reset, since I have done that my battery last good 36 hour on average use, and I still managed to keep my Ginger Bread version of the phone. no issue with the phone, I love it even more than the new GS4, or GS5 I wait for GS6 or wait for Sony latest before even thinking to upgrade, GS2 is truly the best phone Samsung has EVER made, truly fantastic so do the above and let me know how you got on GL

My i9100 says 2GB for installation files and 11.49GB of built in storage. That's a combined 13.5GB out of 16GB. That's excellent if you ask me. Maybe you should do a master reset and if that doesn't work reinstall or upgrade your firmware. My S2 is amazing and it's lightening fast. I have no complaints whatsoever.

apps are saved usually into the internal memory. I think they are also downloaded and unpacked in interna memory. Try free app Clean Master, it searches for temporary and unused files and those usually go to hundreds of MB!

The issue will be due to the charger port. I had the same problem just before the phone would no longer charge at all. I tried installing a new charger prot (for an S2 plus as was cheaper and more easily available than i9100 charging port) but that didn't work. Problem fixed when i got hold of a genuine i9100 charger port. Now phone charges and is recognised by pc and no fake charging/connected to pc issues anymore

Great phone: Pros: 1.Great camera, even better than some digital cameras. 2. Great media support 3. No need to unlock bootloader for custom ROMs. 4. Great Design, sexy looks. 5. Nice and vibrant screen. 6. Speedy phone, lag free gaming with Mali-400MP4 (yes its MP4 variant, just check anandtech's review of galaxy s2) 7. Jelly Bean update has decent features. 8. Unofficial Android L support via Cyanogenmod 12 is coming. Cons: 1. Battery life: onscreen time is very bad with Jelly Bean. 2. Low resolution screen, but not a big issue. You can also install CM11 on it but according to my experience official JB is better, because CM makes screen look too dull (in JB its vibrant and colorful), camera quality is bad, and you lose stock FM radio (you can install spirit fm). My advice is, stick with official JB until Android L comes out.
