great and solid smart phone, it's been one and half year now... still running flawlessly...minor issues sometimes but can be resolved by factory resetting...drop few times from quite height but no damaged.... camera and video quality excellent.... loved this fone....keyboard is the plus point nice n comfortable for texting.... :-) :-)... Great phone with lots of power, decent screen, lots of storage, good camera, and slide-out keyboard. Once rooted and a custom recovery installed, it will run up to Android 5.0 with ease. You might need to replace the rear battery cover and battery with an extended version, but it's worth it. Too bad it doesn't support 1700Mhz bands, but it's still a great phone.

go into recovery mode (turn phone off, press power button, home, and volume down at the same time, and select format/recover. it worked for me :)

I owned this phone from last 1 year but recently I dropped it by mistake in water. Maybe my phone is damage but I luv this phone so much. Its a superb phone, Battery recharge time is only 25 to 30 minute and standby time is 24+ hours. 1. Physical keyboard (Hard to press buttons in starting but latter you will become a expert and it will become so easy for you to press buttons) 2. Strong: I dropped it many times from table, 7ft,etc but it work and still don't have a scratch marks on my phone. 3. Easy to carry 4. 1GB RAM, no freeze issue ;) 5. 4G internet connection, easy to use your phone as a internet modem via datacable. 6. Wifi - Also you can make your phone as a hotspot. 7. Use charger cable as a datacable. 8. Big screen, Good Camera, Good Audio/video recording. 9. I still use 1st scratch guard. LOL.. Most of my new phone's scratch guard removed after a few month but scratch guard of this phone is really good. 10. I was irritate with Automatic screen rotation but in this phone I can easily stop it without going to settings >> screen/display,etc.. 11. When you will unplug earphone then music will automatically stop which is a great feature. 12. Battery is good If you live in Metro City and If you live in Village then you can buy a 3500Mah battery. 13. Touch screen is really good and responsive 14. My phone is rooted and I remove all Adware Apps, etc.. ;)

I have owned this phone for a year now, and I am impressed with it. The reason I bought it was because of the physical keyboard merged with a touch screen smartphone, and for this purpose it is a great phone. The keyboard is great to use, the keys are very flush to the back but they are not hard to press once you get used to it, which shouldn't take long. The keys light up and you can change settings to choose how long you want them lit for after pressing. The sliding mechanism is great and hasn't become loose or stiff after a year. However the plastic back is very flimsy, and although I don't often remove it, it has cracked and the top corner has broken off. This isn't a problem for me but it doesn't look as nice as it once did. Aside from the back the build quality is good and it has survived a few drops without showing any damage. The screen is unscratched despite not using a screen protector. I have found the camera to be very good, it takes very nice photos and the front camera is fine for all it is required for. There is a lot of pre-installed software on the phone which I can't take advantage of because it's an American phone, so they are American services. I disabled all of the apps I don't and won't use because you can't fully delete them. I recently found that I have run out of space a few times, even though I moved all the apps I could onto my SD card. There are some apps which cannot run off the SD card so won't be transferable, and I found that I had used up all of the space in the internal memory when trying to update the small number of apps I had (about 20). I don't use this phone for games, although it is powerful enough to run most mobile games. The problems I have had with this phone are regarding the battery. With the screen brightness always on minimum I still find myself using the 'power saving mode' activated through the settings. Even with this on, it will only just last a day and if you leave mobile internet on it will struggle to top 10 hours of use. If you want the screen at a comfortable brightness and use your phone a lot during the day don't expect it to last long at all, I often have to top up my phone charge when a plug is available so carry a phone charger round with me. Also, recently I have been having problems with the phone battery where the phone goes from having >50% charge left to thinking it's run out of battery completely and switching off. After waiting for a few minutes and turning the phone on again it will be back at around the same level of battery as it started at, although the first time it happened the battery graph showed the phone charging itself from 4% up to 42% without being connected to a charger. It has happened a few times, although the most recent time left the phone unable to fully turn on (it would switch off again after about 30 seconds after each reboot) until I connected it to a charger. This is really becoming a problem as it begins to do it more frequently, and I am unsure whether it is a problem with the battery or with the phone itself.

Maybe the battery is bad and needs to be replaced.Try installing greenify and use it to freeze apps to see if your battery performance will improve.

I agree. I went in to the stores so many times and asked what options they had with the keyboard and they always say they don't have any other options. Now I found a few options online. if they aren't in the stores and the employees don't know about them of course they don't sell well!

If you have the Rogers version,you can't update to ICS through Kies because the update was only available for the AT&T Rom.You can update it manually though,and it doesn't need to be rooted.This link provides all the info you need to update to ICS. androidromupdate.com/2012/11/10/i927uclj3-new-ic­s-4-0-4-for-samsung-sgh-i927-captivate-glide/ Most people followed the same steps in updating to ICS.One thing though,have your unlock key ready because the phone might relock itself.I had to contact the Amazon vendor I bought the phone from to get the network control key.

1)My phone is an AT&T version, about the 3/4G check with your network carrier if its compatible because the of the bandwith its really a tri band 3/4G when u look at it, best to check the network u wanna use in jamaica we use 850/1900 for 3/4G on the lime network. 2) no it never asked for an unlock code after i updated it to ICS. and for the people with the rogers version u got the rotten end of the stick u have to root the phone to GET ICS so far from what i learned. the only thing that doesnt work after the upgrade on my phone is screenshot but idk. no hiccups so far will continue notifying you people about it.

I have a blackberry torch slider phone! Was given it as a gift! I love the fact that it has it's own keyboard, frankly because my touch screen doesn't work at all and my phone would be completely useless without it and it's stupid to be forced to buy a new phone if the touch screen bombs out on you!! And I love this samsung s glide!!!!! Ordered one in, but Rogers seems to have deleted phone from system, so I can't get the only slider keyboard phone running!! And I love the size and screen and keyboard on this! I would get every S glide phone out there so I will always have a replacement if it broke! I forgot to mention instead of running around and flashing and stuff with a perfectly good new phone for ics, u can update it through samsungs desktop software keis. i went from gb to ics 4.0.4 in less than an hour and have no problems so far at all. it doesn't lag at all either. its a great midrange phone and does everything I throw at it flawlessly when I say everything I mean everything. I even stopped carrying around a laptop because I can do almost everything I need on this phone so far work wise. The only bad thing is the phone gets hot during hard use and charging sometimes. And when its hot it will not open the camera till its cooled down to operating temps(ics it tells u the warning) battery serves me a who day with average to hard use and I come home with around 25% bat life way better than my bbz which I had to charge by mid day with a brand new genuine bat with blackberry data plan. Ohh yeah and the hspa+ is fast enough here in Jamaica get up to 4mbps upload on lime network can get faster but don't really check much and I use wifi at home and work so I don't really care and 4mbps is fast enough when I don't have wifi. The GPS is kinda off once in a blue moon but it doesn't bother me, how can I get lost in Jamaica lol.well what I can tell anyone if u need a phone what's reasonable in price and has good performance this is the phone for u. Well baught this phone new off amazon. having owning the phone for around 3 weeks with gb 2.3.6 i updated the os to ics 4.0.4 by samsung kies and its working fine. its a very fun phone waayyy faster than my BlackBerry 9650 and better by a 1000 in everything. the cam is great, the graphics is excellent, the keyboad is a bit flat and not ergonomic like the blackberry 9650 but its ok to use not bad like how i hear some people say it is. But so far it is a very fun phone will write more reviews if anything pops up.

Went through a hell of a lot of effort upgrading the operating system I wanted to upgrade to Jellybean, but it was too risky, so I recommend not trying, simply because there is not Stable release I know of. So I tried to update to Ice Cream Sandwich (4.04)from Gingerbread (2.3.6) following steps from websites such as (xda developers kies, and various others)and had the entire system wiped for about 5 hours, I was getting very stressed, and it was not easy, but once finally updated with Odin3 and the right format rom (.md5, .smd, .tar, .gz or .tmz) this phone is amazing. Updating to ICS can be done, but it's hard work, and the only way to have it done is with patience and perseverance. I do not recommend using Kies.

the error you are describing is that the phone is locked to a certain provider (probably AT&T, or Rogers). It need to be unlocked to be used with another provider (another wireless company in your country/area). Unlock codes can be bought on the web or directly from the provider. When you start your phone, you should see either an AT&T logo or a Rogers logo - that's the company your phone is locked to. Some people can root your phone and remove the lock - never tried so I don't know.

Its a excellent mobile phone. In this price range you cant get such touch and type phone in other brand. In India usually Samsung i927R (ROGERS) is getting delivered by sellers. Sellers are saying that they delivers AT&T, on final delivery you will get ROGERS version. It is slider phone with thickness less then without slider phone. Its so slim, one cant know about its slider, till you tell them there is a slider with phone. In India you have to order its cover and screen guard from US seller through eBay. Specification telling features are excellent. Overall a very good phone with touch and type.

There are several ways to unlock;you can get the network control key from the original seller/vendor or you could pay a little fee to phone unlocking websites.It's also possible to unlock through rooting,if you're technically saavy that won't be a problem. @Manel,ICS has been pretty stable and responsive on my Glide so far,don't see any advantage in sticking to Gingerbread IMO.If anything,ICS adds some nice features and apps missing in Gingerbread.

I really like this phone. The keyboard rocks, it has a nice layout to it. The slider is kinda so so. It will take a drop from your hand and still work. I've had other android phones before, several touch screens, but this one has been my favorite. And im becoming a big fan of Samsung!!! They have been making a great product the last couple of years. My Galaxy SII worked great as well. Had it rooted with custom rom, good phone. Keep it up Samsung!!!

this upgrade is for all i927 and works for all phones, unlocked and locked. unlocked phones remains unlocked, and locked phones remains locked (and they can be unlocked also in future) check my older post for updating procedure solved problems.

This phone is awesome on paper, and its capabilities are very nice, but the build quality is terrible. very cheap and flimsy compared to my old Nokia E7. After 6 months of use, some of the keyboard's buttons do not register anymore unless I mash them. Does not have a very good signal reception. Also, the clock does not keep time if it is set to Internet time. Overall...meh. I prefer it over any touchscreen keyboard, but the bugs are very annoying.

Can we take pictures on it at night without the flash or only with it? Is it my impression or there are general issues regarding ICS? How does this phone deals with the OS? Better keep it with GB or upgrade? what are the changes? Can we save apps in the memory stick? Does the alarm rings with the phone turned off? Sorry for all the questions, but after my MotoSpice disappointment I don't wanna do another mistake...

the only way to lock again a phone is to do a hard reset. anyone knows when there will be an ICS update with no bugs this time?? the previews update to ICS was failure. backlight keys didnt work and things like that. even in kies the server dont give available update for i927 anymore and i still use v2.3.5

Sorry for the delay, I brought the phone from Maniacstores for Rs 15,500/-.It has android 2.3 gingerbread OS. The mobile is doing absolutely fine in most of the aspects except a few.The battery back up hardly lasts for a day with moderate use.The qwerty key pad is very hard and rarely put to use.Slightly on d bulky side to hold in hand for few minutes.(I use a bluetooth all d time so not my problem).The cell cases/cover r not available in India( I got two from US for cheap) If u over look this small drawbacks it is a very good phone and I am very satisfied with the buy.

At last got my glide back after 1 1/2 month. Its working fine and unlocked. Except for the flat qwerty keyboard which makes typing difficult and battery not lasting for a day i don't see any shortcomings in this phone.The more I use it the more i start appreciating it. There are a lot of android phones in market around 10k which talk about big screen and dual core processor but none..mark none of them have a 1 GB ram which is very important for multitasking and running high end games. Do a research yourself and see if you can get any phone with 1 GB ram less than 15.5K and from any local Indian company.

ive had my captivate glide for almost 6 months now...i cant complain about it much.....i waited to upgrade to ics til the rerelease of it and it upgraded just fine...my biggest complaint about this phone is the lack of a dedicated camera button....other than that ...im happy with it...its quick ...takes nice pics and has awesome battery life...i listen to mp3s all day on it while im at work.....and talk...text and facebook...and the battery will last an entire 8 hour shift and then some...what an awesome phone

The glide did receive an ICS update but it was full of bugs and people who updated to ICS ran in to new problems.Neither they could get back to gingerbread. On realising this problem samsung themself stopped the update on KIES and promised to rectify the problem and release the update.I am hoping that Samsung updates to jelly bean rather than ICS.

Hi, Sorry for the delay. I had not done any resetting on my glide.It automatically got locked one fine morning after 3 weeks of purchasing.I sent it to maniac store through a friend of mine. They say it has to be send only through courier and only then they will accept it(how wierd).They said they will send the cell to bangalore for unlocking. I am yet to receive my cell back. Hi, I Purchased this phone from Maniacstore last month for Rs/-15,490. They sell the ROGER version from canada.ie samsung i927R captivate glide. It is an awesome phone and I was very happy with the buy until 1 month after which the phone got locked and asked for some codes to open it. I got in touch with the Maniacstore guys who told to ship it back so that they can unlock the phone and send it back. The catch is very few couriers take electronic items and that too prices are expensive.(Bluedart-Rs 2300)Other local couriers dont accept electronic items.when you take the total cost in to consideration then it became more expensive and i am not sure when it will lock itself again. so guys check these points before you buy phones from anyone.

Glad i could help you As you said the captivate glide has capacitive keys compared to the physical keys that the xperia pro has The downside of that is that you cant unlock the phone with those key they only work when the screen is on A feature that i loved in the xperia is the ability to be unlock pressing the home key In the captivate glide you will have to use the power key or (if you are using a custom locker as i do) the volume keys I miss the feeling of a physical home key and the advantages that it gives but i get use to it Besides that there is no physical camera button like the xperia but given it size most of the time was not useful to me

all android high end phones like the galaxy i927 are the best in the world. they pack lots of high tech features and can readily suppliment your laptop. imaging tranfering a 1gb movie to a galaxy tab 10.1 through my galaxy i927 in less than 5mins using wifi direct. now, that's real technology. hey! u can't get this from most other OS's. I am a veteran when it comes to mobile. i'ld advice every one in the world to go and get android devices.

I bought it from newegg.com in the US. Phone is not officially available in India or from Samsung India. i927 comes with 8GB internal and is AT&T (USA) firmware. i927R comes with 4GB internal and is Rogers (Canada) firmware.

I do have experience with both phones and i did the same upgrade from a Xperia Pro to a Captivate Glide If you dont used to have to many apps installed the xperia pro will work fine Otherwise you should upgrade to the captivate glide The Xperia Pro its a great phone and has a really good keyboard the main downside that it has its the lack off more ram(less than 400MB can't remember the exact number) In the other hand the Captivate glide has a 2core procesor, 724MB of RAM, Super Amoled display, 8MP camera with almost same quality The only thing that may not like you its the keyboard The keys are so flat that its hard to know if you are pressing the right key If you have any other question feel free to ask :)

Yes, the HDMI port is in the USB port. It's a neat micro USB/HDMI D hybrid that Molex came up with. HTC does the same thing with many of their phones.

This phone is the next best thing to an SII specially if you want a phone with a physical qwerty keypad. The only real challenge I had was (a) the sliding screen seems delicate and may snap with daily use and (b) given the limited release, it is VERY HARD to find a suitable protective casing specially if you're obsessive compulsive about it. Otherwise, the phone has excellent speed and capability. Btw, I solved my A and B issues by ordering the SurfSlider casing from Speck online. Be warned thought that the price + shipping + taxes is gng to be quite hefty.

I bought the unlocked Rogers version (Canada) and i'm using it in Belgium. I had the Nokia N97 mini before and I have to say that the i927 keyboard feels so much thinner. I'm still afraid to kill the keyboard in my hands, but it is quite solid. Yes, the keys are a bit less defined and difficult to find. All you have is the little knobs that you feel when pressing the keys, but overall a great phone. 100% happy. Symbian vs Android: Android wins. Only - is that Android doesn't have decent offline maps like Nokia.

OK, I was just about to purchase this phone from US via Amazon, and even though it's on AT&T, I thought unlocking it would mean I can use it in the UK (unlike the Droid 4). However I now find out that 3G and MMS may not work because of carrier IQ? What the hell is this? Can anyone actually confirm what the issues are and if it's easy to unlock? Or do I have to root it and install custom firmware? Otherwise I'll have to resort to the Xperia Pro and I really don't want to due to the lower specs. I'll feel guilty if I don't post this, but in response to the Lebanese asking about the Captivate Glide, I don't advise you to buy it from Amazon Wireless. AT&T carrier phones (and US carrier phones in general) have a monitoring software pre-installed. That means even if you manage to ship it here, options like 3G and MMS won't work. Buy the Canadian carrier (Rogers) since it won't have any type of monitoring software in it and you will be able to make full use of the phone once it's unlocked.

This is a very fast and cool phone. Coming from a Nokia E71, the keyboard needs improvement. Throw in a notifications LED and a hardware FM radio, and it'll be nearly perfect. This phone is high end. I bought a GSII for mom, but I love the option of a keyboard here. There are no performance issues between the two.

Yes, there is. You need a feature from AT&T called Smart Limits for Wireless. It can block data usage and limit the times of day data can be used. It works for messaging and calling as well.

You should be able to add each phone number for one person to one contact page. There's a plus and minus picture next to each menu item (ie. phones numbers, emails, etc.), just click the plus to add another one and minus to delete an old one. As for ringers, for messaging, open up your messages main menu that lists all your conversations. Then click the menu button at the very bottom of the actual phone, you have a few options. From left to right you have Menu, Home, Back, and Search. Touch Menu and you'll have three options come up, Search, Settings and Delete Threads. Select Settings and you'll be able to change anything you need. On my phone it's way at the very bottom. You can also select custom ringtones for people when they call, but I believe the messaging ringtone is standard for whichever you pick in the menu. It can be hard getting used to an Android, but I love this phone. I hope you like it too, but it's my second Android so it was pretty easy for me to get used to.

Does anyone else have issues with this phone where you don't get texts right away sometimes hourS later and the phone doesn't ring, you get notified of voicemail and sometimes those don't come in until hourS later! And finally...the phone is starting to freeze i'll be on the internet or texting or even charging it while it's powered off and the screen will go yellowish-green and it will freeze and you have to take the battery out!?!?!!??! don't waste your money on this phone. this phone has many hardware issues . and this phone has carrier IQ . They can track everything whatever u r doing on yr phone. AT&T will have all information what you are doing on this phone. Go and find some other good factory unlocked phones which are reliable. You can't make 3g video calls on this phone. the front cam can only be used for SKYPE and TANGO.

Just buy the Sony MW600 portable FM radio with headset. It has blue-tooth so it can be paired with the phone for listening to other music and calls. When just using the FM radio you don't use up your phone battery this way.

For crying out loud... after spending MONTHS trying to find a smartphone with a physical Qwerty and an FM receiver, and ending up trying to decide between Desire Z and Xperia Pro, (Desire Z being way better looking, but having slower core clock and meaning I would need to reinstall the software, whilst the Xperia simply looks horrible enough to give me second thoughts), with both phones being fairly old by today's standards - I thought I finally found exactly what I was looking for... ... and then I realise that for some reason, they decided to not include an FM receiver in this phone. Come on Samsung, just because Apple is your main weak competitor, doesn't mean you need to resort to removing features from your own products to stoop down to their level ::P

I would definitely go with the Glide. I have used both phones extensively. Between the screen quality, the battery life, and the slide out keyboard (without adding additional girth. The glide is a CLEAR winner in my book.

Great phone. Nice screen great performance. Needs dedicated camera button. Should not have bothered having buttons on face of phone. The entire top of phone should have been a extra large screen. Like nexus. Buttons should only be on the keyboard. That would make it the perfect phone.

just got this phone for my wife for Christmas and I must say this is an awesome phone!!! I wish I had this phone rather than the one i'm using right now (motorola Atrix). connection is faster, wifi is faster, processing should be the same speed but it seems faster too!!! oh and super AMOLED screen is fantastic!!! GSMarena should do a full review on this phone!!! forperson who never used qwerty phone, key board might take little time to get used to but it's all good!!!

At&t phones can be unlocked pretty cheap & a tmobil sim card can be inserted (& vise versa). I've done this in the past with a few other phones.

FINALLY. We've been awaiting the qwerty derivations to the S2 lineup. Despite a few possible omissions on the preliminary specs such as NFC or up-level graphics (will have to await the S3) it is nice to see Samsung expanding upon this top-end MND (mobile networked device) lineup. Will be looking forward to future models for the North American "4G" marketplace. The Exynos line of CPU's intergrated with 2nd or 3rd generation GPU's and HD resolutions will further solidify this device lineup and expand Samsung's market share. Let's also hope they continue to push towards ridding the lockdown to the UI and flash so Android OS oepn source blooms to further maximixe the technology capabilities Samsung is developing. Way to go Sammie! We're looking forward to "playing] with these 4.x inch qwerty MND's. 1:4 ratio 1080p playback would be a real bonus and eventual A-v4.0 on these devices. And once LTE Advanced begins showing up the tablet and smartphone could become the mobile warrior's compact workhorse. JOHO
