  • Nostalgic phone ever remind me on my old s3 i purchase in year 2012. This is the 1st phone i purchase with very expensive price in that time. After 3 year use, the batteries life seems drain very fast. Then i decided to sell it on 2015 and buying a new samsung called samsung galaxy j5 (2015). After a year use j5 then i sell it again for upgrade to J7 pro (2017). Untill now in 2019 i still using j7 pro without any problems and the batteries life still work properly.

  • Maybe one of the best Samsung phones ever, it has gotten old really good, something that just a few devices can to presume.

  • I am using this mobile phone since 4th July 2012. It works perfectly, not a single scratch. The only thing that happened is that my fingerprints changed the colour of that silver part on sides. It turned mostly black, colour of coal, because when I play, my fingers keep the phone on the side. I don't see any problems with my CPU, memory, I play few games constantly. Display colours are nice. My phone is white, not like this one in the picture. I can't complain. The problem is battery consumption and long time of battery charge, but who can have the battery for 6 years and expect the greatness and long lasting performance. :) When it stops working, I will probably buy iPhone XR, XS or some other newer, because I doubt that my Galaxy S3 will stop with nice performance. Still emotionally attached. :) Asus Rog seems also nice, iPhone and Samsung, maybe LG.

  • Been using it since 2012. The battery life is okay it can last a day or two while using the phone. I had heat issues with it although nothing serious. The latest Android released for it is 4.3 and some of the apps on the Play Store don't support it any longer. The systems have started to slow down for the past few years so I decided to install a custom ROM and it's like new.

  • Try tp factory reset or put in factory mode. Google around on that. Turn off phone and then hold the Volume UP+Power+Home button for 20-30 seconds and it should boot where you can delete cache and User Data and get functionality back.

  • I took it out of the drawer after a few years... i flashed LineageOS 14.1 with minimal gapps , and with a few minor tweaks , it works perfectly ! fluent, responsive... i dare to say it works better and faster than running original ICS... again, don't expect miracles from a 1GB RAM phone but I am really surprised and satisfied with how everything works ! oh and I forgot, battery lasts twice as long than it did running ICS!

  • I assume you don't know CyanogenMod... The S3 performance are very decent when the hardware ressources are not drained by the OS.

  • The greatest smartphone/phone I've ever had. I've used it for almost 6 years now, never failed me, I've only changed a battery 2 years ago because it started to dry for less than an hour of use. The first 3 years with it made me happy and proud, just the fact that was stronger than the S4(also a good device). When Modern Combat 5 came I was one of the first people to play it, back then when MC5 wasn't free to play, btw MC4 and MC3 where my favs... but whatever. 2017 came and this device stopped running as well as it usually ran. Don't use(anymore)/buy this device there are much better devices right now... well not as strong as this one (yeah even the CAT phones) , the strength of this device is some kinda miracle. Keep it as a Trophy, so you can be proud of the good taste you had back in the time you've bought it. My conclusion IF YOU STILL USING THE ♥ GALAXY S3♥ IT'S TIME FOR UPGRADE.

  • ran this since 2015 cause I wanted a fm radio in a modern smartphone and international galaxy s3 was one of he few left to have it. ran it for years- my first android experience, was very effective. battery did drain and there were afew hangups... but I can still use this phone even to this day with minmual problems for the battery I used Anker for 2200mah regular use (I recomond) and from time to time switched over to zero lemon 7000Mah on the weekends which gave me a 3 day use without needing to charge. when things got slow I'd flash stock rom 4.3 to make it feel brand new. I have two models... I had a special refurbished brown model and a white one bought used from someone else who swore by iphone... the brown unit sadly the flash memory craped out and the white one... while it has the power button issues I treated this phone like trash- beat it up and smashed it... she STILL runs! amazing. need a cheap phone? this is a fraction of what it used to be and the quality of mid size. if you can get past staying on kitkat or jelly bean I recomond

Use this as wifi hot spot at home sometime, works fine for me. Its was not that bad, but I guess andriod update made this phone obsolete as it drains too much power.

It is based on LineageOS 14.1 with additional features, performance and battery life improvements. No time to test GSM radio, but works well over WiFi. OpenGapps mini set installed and 250 MB ram free ... Looks good so far, my old S3 got second life

  • Hi, My experience with Samsung s3 is negative. It has big big problems with battery time. The original battery blew up . So I bought a new one. (Samsung original). It does not hold up. Even as standby after less then 8 hours with "no internet" it is at 5 %battry. So for me, No Samsung any more.

But my S3 is KITKAT version . I Flash the German Kitkat firmware of this device . New software camera features and I want the Music Player in the lock screen(Full music player).

  • Yup I still have the box manuals papers flyers and also earphones with extra earbuds (i didnt use this because its color white after a few months it will become yellowish thats why i bought Samsung Hs330 Black. I always use black accessories) and also the Price Tag is in the top $876.00. Maybe you will never complain in any phones that you buy if you took good care of it :D

  • I have this phone for 5 years but still its good as new . no problems encountered(maybe im just a techie and i know how to handle so it wouldnt have a problem) and still i took a good care with my S3 . seriously it doesnt have even a 1 scratch :D mine is i9305 LTE color titanium grey . when i always took it off wit the case it is still shiny as its looks like on 2012 :) battery is still good no replacement battery since 2012 . when standy mode drains 2% per 3 hours :) i hope this phone would last a lifetime . btw this is my first phone :D and Samsung Galaxy Note7FE/8 would be my last phone :D i will buy it even if its 600$ Note7 or 1000$ Note8

  • I had this phone for over four years now, just recently I gave my phone to my father who needed a new phone. I just wanted to say that this is a very good phone for 2012/2013 but over the years with technology changing the Samsung Galaxy S3 was not able to catch up with the times. Ranging from system updates that were prevented to the limited amount of apps being downloaded onto the phone...... Overall I will give it a 10/10 for being able to last these four years. Even though I dropped it multiple times, storage usually becoming full because of updates and not the long lasting battery. In the end, i would like to recommend this phone to anyone who just needs it for basic necessities.

  • To : Albert Tieku Go to recovery mode and wipe cache partition 1 - Turn off your device 2 - Press POWER button, VOLUME UP button and HOME button at the same time. Android char will pop up. 3 - Navigate via POWER(select) button and VOLUME(up and down) button . Kindly select wipe cache partition and select yes. 4 - Reboot the system 5 - All done problem solved !

  • If you already rooted a Samsung device you don't need to watch the video but you have the CF auto root in the description. Even though my s3 is broken now it worked for me so good luck:)

  • I have this phone and hated it on its stock firmware at 4.3 JellyBean. I rooted and flashed an S7edge rom which made it a lot faster and its battery life better.

  • Go to XDA-Developers and learn how to root the S3 (only way you can update this device now). Install TWRP recovery and a custom rom, I have LineageOS 7.1.1 Nougat (they still manage/update this rom weekly) on my S3 and it works great! OctOS rom is good too and also Nougat 7.1.1, both roms have no bloatware, have tweaks/customization's, improves battery and makes phone smoother and faster.

Battery runs out very quickly replaced new no difference. Now cant even answer phone calls screen shaking up/down cuts off logging on something else it loads another thing. I'm fed up so looking for another phone tonight, only the camera was excellent couldn't play games either too slow gets stuck same place with broadband 2 ADSL no hope to improve.

It's got great potentials, alaways believed that, but it's been a nightmare since Day 1 and even more so now, 4 years later. I am no IT expert so I'd really like to ask any of you what's the easiest procedure I can follow to have this phone finally working. I read here and elsewhere that by changing firmware (can you give me any idiot-proof hint on that??) or installing I can't recall what (after factory reset it) it kind of comes to life again. Help!!

  • I received a Samsung Galaxy III in June 2016 to replace an ACE3 which stopped working - today I purchased a Samsung Galaxy J1 mini as I had to go back to the shop for the second fix-up - The S3 lasted 2 months then 3 months and when I asked for advice I was told it would be better to just buy a new phone as this one wasn't going to get any better.   • Its because the power button gets pressed. If you have the case on the phone thats what probably causing it, I had the same problem. Remove the cover it should work fine after that.

  • I'm running an android 6.0.1 Cyanogenmod 13 build on two S3 devices. The hardware does struggle to keep up from time to time, but its still a major improvement over the stock touchwiz-infested android it originally had.

You can verify if your charger is working properly installing the "Ampere" app (download it on Google Play) This app can show if the battery life is good, and show the charging amperage in miliampere. Also, screen breaks easily and then requires fix to work. Mine used to have long (ass) battery but has decreased so much these last months and pretty much screams for a battery replacement.   • I am done with SAMSUNG phones forever! I had a Samsung Galaxy SIII which broke down on the first day I bought it, and had to bare the pain being there till a replacement was provided and it didnt stop there after another month or so it broke again. I had to get that repaired (with warranty). Then there were problems in the charging port and another repair to fix that. After 2 years it broke again ( not turning on BLACK SCREEN) and given for a motherboard replacement and I had to pay. Later I found out that many of my friends who bought Samsung had similar experiences with SAMSUNG DEVICES. I do not recommend SAMSUNG phones to anyone due to this reason. They are not reliable at all.

  • There is a program you can download that is called clean master. It is great for getting rid of the junk on your phone. There is also a component called CPU cooler and it measures the CPU temp and restores it to normal. Hope this helps.

  • Hey guys, this hardware can run newer OS without big problems, just try Cyanogen roms. My S3 is running Android 5.1.1, but there is also a 6.0 version. Galaxy S3 is old, but an amazing machine.

  • My s-3 is 3 years old now. It's been in a Otto box case and today it is still like new and yes, it's been dropped and used hard every day. I've had to do a hard reset when the phone gets glichy a few times, then restore apps and phone is like new again. I think this is the best of the bunch of old phones. I'm in Panama and the Samsung store still offers the s-3 slim for only $150.32. What a buy! I paid $550 new! Oh, I'm still on the original battery too. The only reason for me to change to a new s-7 would be the display, so I can see it in bright sunlight, and a better camera.

I got annoyed and purchased a Samsung 3 2 years ago and couldn't be happier. It can do so many more things than iphones can. I can download my tv shows and movies right onto the phone instead of downloading onto the computer then fooling around with ITunes to get it onto the phone, Plus I drop my phone everyday and I have no case and it doesn't break. This is an amazing phone and I will never ever waste money on iphones

With all this, it now will not receive calls, sends them directly to voice mail. I can receive texts and voice mail, go figure. The only good thing, I bought the extended warranty, and am now going to another brand and service provider. Boost has very long delays on receiving texts and voice mails. some times from several hours to all day.

  • Samsung has a bad support for users of mobile phones. Example, I had purchased flagship samsung model when it was first released on market. It wasn't cheap model. As newer android versions arrived samsung has left as to Jelly bean 4.3 OS. They said that performance of S3 with touchwiz interface is not enough fo Kit Kat OS. Now I see cheap phones from Samsung with half performance of S3 like Samsung Galaxy J1 rolling out with Touchwiz and kitkat 4.4. That phone has only 512MB ram and Dual-core 1.2 GH processor. My next mobile phone wont be Samsung, thats clear :)

  • The only way to have fast phone is root. Custom roms run the smoothest but can still have bugs. I have stock 4.3 Jellybean and have no problems. Clockwork mod rooted. Titanium backup freeze Samsung bloat apps which use too much RAM. Kernel tweaked with Kernel Adiutor for performance. Xposed installer to customise and tweak rom. I use Autokiller Memory Optimizer and freeze Android Task Manager because it runs slow and doesn't manage RAM efficiently. Greenify and Amplify to save battery. I have downloaded many apps and too many tweaks to list but my point is without root your phone will always lag and be slow.

  • My s3 used to be really laggy and the battery life was really bad. Barely got 1.5hrs of SoT. I read online that FB uses a lot of ram and battery so I deleted it and disabled most of google apps like Google+, chrome, maps etc. I also deleted all this useless apps like clean master and anti virus apps (except for battery doctor which I find quite useful) cause they really dont help at all and now my s3 runs really smooth even on power saving mode ( unless im using intensive apps then I disable it) As for the battery, I found out that my battery got swollen a bit and it was around 1.5 yrs old. Replaced it with an original samsung battery and I'm pretty satisfied with the battery life. On a good day I get over6hrs of SoT if im watching local videos and light browsing on Wi-Fi and on average I usually get around 3.5 to 5 if I'm using 3G browsing and playing ganes like candy crush, subway surfers and real racing 3.   • The minimum you should do is to upgrade to a rom with I9300XXUGNA8 baseband or newer (like this rom I9300XXUGNH4). Then you could upgrade to Cyanogenmod Android Marshmallow. The daily builds from late December 2015 are stable, so you could try the latest on. Mine S3 was upgraded and it is still going strong.

  • i have tried every fucking rom out there and the best for battery life is the last official samsung firmware jelly bean 4.3 i easily get 4:30 h screen on time. if you are not getting at least 3:30 hours screen on time you should consider get a new battery , you can buy the original or an extended one , both are really cheap. good thing compared to the moto's or xperia phones where you cant remove the battery.

  • Best Phone Ever Sound quality is unmatched, only downside is only 1GB ram. i ran CM11 on it for years, but its started to get really laggy due to Ram limitations. Now i have resurrected it with a debloated Android revolution HD Rom, boeffla kernel and roehsoft ramexpander overclocked to 1,7ghz. The phone now has 1GB swapmemory and is blistering fast, no more hangs. Screw cyanogenmod for not being compatible with roehsoft ramexpander. that software saved me from buying a new phone and the tedious search to one with good and loud sound. S3's are awesome walkmans

  • Several problems. Within 18 months I already had to send it back to be fixed as the screen just blacked out and I could not use the phone. Since then, the battery life has been very poor, I am lucky if i get 3 hrs use out of it before it dies. The screen blacks out constantly, sometmes the phone does not tell me when I have had a call or message, sometimes in the middle of doing something it just shuts down. Now it has a problem charging. It will not charge with any wall charger, and I have tried several. It will only charge with the cable plugged into a usb port. Charging takes forever, and it constantly stops charging. Most of the other features are great, but when you get to the stage of reading 3 text messages, answering two of them, and having one 5 minute call in a day and the phone is practically dead by 4pm, it is a bit much. I have never seen such poor battery life in a phone. Not impressed at all.

  • If you were able to transfer before then the problem is the data cable. Borrow another cable and try again. The computer should recognize your phone before you can do any transferring

  • My S3 came with JB 4.1.2 and the battery life is actually flawless. Been using for almost 2 years. The device is mega fast and snappy. It does lag occasionally when handling a lot of operations, but what can you expect from a 1 gb ram phone released in 2012? The screen has splendid pixel density, and is very beautiful to look at. Flawless sound. I love my S3 :D Yes, I do wish Samsung released a newer android version for the S3. Those custom ROMs with lollipop, etc just hamper battery life and are all unstable. Other than that, I really do not understand the opinions here. Battery life on S3 with stock 4.1.2 is superb and lasts even longer than the 2600mAh+ phones, even the iphone 5s, which my friends bring to college.

  • Hi pal. I heard there was a release of the S3 which included deffective batteries. Maybe you came across one of those batteries. But before anything, try charging your phone with a spare charger that you have (Samsung preferably). If it doesn't solve the problem, then go for a new battery

The issues? - Battery life becomes really weak after the first 6 months, and needs to be charged A LOT - Becomes very slow and patchy after the first year. The display is crystal clear and has very good viewing angles. The sound quality is splendid, owing to its Wolfson Audio Chip. It has the best 8 mp camera I've seen around and the front camera quality is also surprisingly very clear. Yes, posting this in July, 2015. Been two years with this phone and it never dissatisfied me. Yes, the only drawback is that Samsung has stopped rolling out updates for this phone now, because the software support was only two years.

  • I've been using this phone for about 2 years now. Still working greatly. Seldomly lagging. Installed many 'heavy' games. And save hundreds of song on the internal storage. Doesn't even use memory card. Very strong screen- this phone has drop so many time yet the screen doesn't breaks. There's one time where i accidentally dropped (with the force of throwing) the phone towards rocks: screen facing the rocks. The screen protector is ruin but there's not even a scratch on the screen. Sound is very good and i don't have to put the volume to max (usually 4-6/13 using earphones or 9-11/13 on speaker). My phone battery last very long. On wifi 24/7 and charged only once a day. camera is decent enough. Took good photos and make people appear photogenic (what my friends have been saying about my phone).

Near fine communication chip and has noting to do with spying. If your that worried about your pictures and videos and you shouldn't use android or Google related devices at all becasue when you are downloading an app you already are agreeing to their terms and condition which ask your permission to have access to you call I'd, media galerry, videos locaiona and photos etc.....

  • i used my samsung for almost 3 years. just recently my unit was not working anymore and does not go to the window when powered on. i went to the local repair shop here in riyadh, and they told me the hard disk failed. they don't tell me exactly whether this is repairable or not. they told me the estimate price for the repair is around sar300 and they told me it is not worth repairing because the value of the present s3 is something around sar700-800. please let me know if this can repaired and will take another life cycle of the unit. is it still worth to repair the unit? thanks

  • No. Go for S3. I own galaxy grand prime because of the awesome new touchwiz too. I don't regret it but overtime I realized I use it more on web browsing and youtubing. So, I kinda wish it have HD resolution like S3 does and the OTG functinality in S3 could be more helpful compare to my grand prime. Though the grand prime display is 5 inch compare to 4.8 inch on S3; big screen is the trend these day and that why I choose grand prime. You can go for S4 too which is not so much of a different in price. All of the old Galaxy S series is super cheap ever since the released of the S6.

  • Now I see where galaxy s6 is inspired from. It follows galaxy s3 footstep that released so many color variant ranging from red, brown, silver/grey, pebble blue, black and white. The back cover is just as shiny as the one in galaxy s6 though it plastic. Samsung always stay true to their signature design. Even the changed in home button shape is significant to gs6 just like gs3 almost rectangle like home button. I like that s3 home button more and hope they bring back that design to future phone. The rounded side is samsung's as well. People keep saying it iphone design but that is so not true as i can see here. Project zero was probably just make the s3 better and more premium to turn it into something like s6. Just thinking out loud my opinion guys.

Still gives me 8-9 hours on 3g after moderate - heavy use. However battery saving can only be done when the phone is not in use. All the battery saving apps runs on this principle. If i dont use my phone only 2% juice is reduced every 6 hours.

  • Guys, calm down. Whoever is not satisfied by the performance of their GS3. Please update your phone to lollypop 5.1.1 using this ROM: Believe me, this ROM is supersmooth, stable(can be used as daily driver) and battery backup is also good. I am getting free RAM of approx. 277MB almost everytime. I am a hardcore user and i normally dont suggest people. But this ROM is too good and so i wanted u guys also to feel it. CONDITIONS APPLIED: Do a clean flash. Wipe cache, Dalvic cache and do a factory reset and then install this ROM. Else you are bound to face problems and Bugs. Don't complain if u ignore this point.   • you have power off your mobile and then press power key, volume up key and home button at once for some seconds. then options will appear. you have to select factor reset then your mobile will unlock. that's it. ;-)

  • I've only had this phone for 4 months and it is the most god awful phone I've ever owned, however not the worst I've ever used because I have had the misfortune of using an iPhone. Aside from the phone I owned being jacked up aesthetically, it genuinely doesn't run well. It lags on nearly every task. The screen isn't very good at all. The charging jack is frustrating unless you find a charger that fits absolutely perfectly, which makes the universal compatibility of mini-usb completely useless. It feels light and cheap, like it would easily break (and it does). The camera looks far worse than my HTC One despite the S3 having an 8MP camera and the HTC having only a 4MP camera (I realize this doesn't necessarily represent image quality but it does relate to the amount of pixels as far I know). The batter life is garbage. And I just don't like the way looks on the outside or the layout within the phone. 4/10

  • I would choose 5 % ,lithium batteries love to be kept topped up. That said i have flattened batterys daily and charged to 100% overnight with no damage. I think in reality it rubbish just charge your battery when you can and don't worry. My Nokia 6630 has had at a guess 4000 charges and is on its third battery so even going mad battery will last 4 years (proper manufacturer battery that is).

When online, if i press home so i can send a sms, or even if i change the settings when online in browser like "load images" or clear cookies, then i always lose the web page i was on when i try to come back to it. Settings to speed up system to get maximum performance ( RAM & Battery ) for galaxy S3 ( 4.3 ) ( 4.1.2 ) : 1- in developer options scroll down to Drowing : select animation is off for ( windows animation scale - transion animation scale - animator duration scale ) . 2- in developer options scroll down to Apps : limit background processes and select 4 processes at most . ***( always repeat this selection after turn on or restart phone ) . 3- In application manager ( turn off ) (disable) unnecessary bloatware apps and services for ( google & samsung ) Because it always running in the background and consuming dramatically battery life and Ram . 4- Not install many apps that consuming battery and Ram such as social network apps or games ...etc, You must know that most of these applications are running in the background even if not used !!!!! Only install what you really need in your daily life . 5- in display reduce brightness level less than half . ( not use auto brightness ) 6- turn off ( NFC - S Beam - Nearby devices - Screen Mirroring - Motion - Smart Screen - Voice control - Page buddy - Multi windows - Daydeam ) . 7- turned off ( sync ) google account & access to location . 8- Not use live wallpapers. 9- reduce number of pages & widget on home screen ( maximum 3 pages ) . 10- always clean up system ( Ram and cash ) . 11- use home button to close apps that running in the background . Battery charging : 1-To get speed charge close all apps during charge or use airplane mode or turn off phone before charge . 2- If you faced any problem such as slow ( bad ) charge , check your charger , Before you think about change the charger ( adapter& usb cable ) , first change the usb cable ( get new one ) then watch the result . 3- Always use original charger , never use bad quality it will damage your battery and phone . 4- If you are using battery for more than two years it�s better to change and get a new one ( original ) . Golden solution for most apps problems : If you have any problem with any app Go to settings > application manager > application ( name ) : Force stop Clear data Then restart phone . If the problem continues delete app then install it again , If the problem continues go to recovery mode and choose wipe data partition then reboot system . If you can�t solve the problem in any way you should format ( reset ) your phone or flash a new official ROM . Other Information : After update or flash a new ROM it�s better to format ( reset ) phone to get pure system to avoid many problems such as overheating or bad charging.

Turn your phone off and then restart by holding down the Volume Up and Home key, and while holding them press the Power button until the Samsung logo appears 3 button reset). The phone will go into Recovery mode (you will see the Android robot lying on it's side) and a menu appears. Use the Vol Up/Down button to select 'wipe cache partition' and press the Power button once. When the cache is clear it will return to the main menu. Select 'reboot system now' and press the Power button again.

Update 4.3 brings many features with bloatware apps and Services (google & samsung) therefore, the system uses a lot of Ram and Battery !!!! I'm on 4.3 without any problems because i can manage the system ... So think twice before you update your system to 4.3 because return to the previous version 4.1.2 will not easy at all !!!!!

But want to update to 4.3 out of anxiousness. I heard that 4.3 update has lot of bugs and problems like music player staggering, low RAM performance, WIFI connection problems etc. Are these problem solved?
