  • Omnia W is great phone, initially i too felt that i took a wrong decision, but later I felt very comfortable. Its all features are good and restriction on Bluetooth transfer is a security feature. For all ur stuff transfer u have to connect it to PC and do it by using Zune SW. this is also a security feature. Its features are some wat like i-phone. Browsing with it is awesome, camera quality is great, sharing pic on social network is so quick. Im fully satisfied with this phone. Im using it since last 2 yrs.

  • Your phone should be under warranty if you bought it in April. Hound the guys at Samsung for a replacement. Do not let them get away with it & do not pay for a replacement - unless ofcourse, your screen is physically broken!!!

  • I am using this phone since April, 2013. recently when I was charging the phone with the normal charger, its got heated up and didn't got switched on. I thought that it would never work, I tried all possible ways to start this phone didn't worked. At last I went to Samsung service center in Bangalore and man they are really pathetic. Not even bothered to look into the phone they simply suggested me to change the display which will cost me around INR 5000 ($80), I took my phone back and connected to my laptop, changed some settings in Zune and downgraded to the old version 7.5 then it started responding now. Call can be received using head phones, but display is not coming. could any one suggest the best possible ways to get this phone back to work.

  • I faced a similar issue with my phone's battery. I bought this phone in Jan, 2012 and its 1.5 years from purchase. My battery swelled a bit and would drain out suddenly. I checked so many places in Hyderabad, also the service centers but no one has a battery for this phone. It's such a shame that Samsung does not provide any support for Windows phones as they do not get much revenue out these. Finally I had purchase a battery from a local mobile shop but cant guarantee if this is original. The shopkeeper also gave me 6 months warranty.

  • I am having a tough time getting my Omnia W I8350 (purchased Feb 2012) repaired. The service at authorised Samsung service centres is pathetic for this phone (and may be for other Samsung phones too which are not top sellers). Since February I am trying to get my touch screen replaced which got damaged accidently and have tried at 2-3 service centres in Delhi but they don't seem to have a spare one. Can anyone help me on this and suggest alternatives?

  • WP will never let its customer feel happy. And thats for sure. The way all apps are designed and presented in market place seems like we made the mistake by purchasing windows phone. It seems like a candy is given to a 2nd class boy. Every time either apps hangs or crashes. TOO many problems are being faced. If windows was not ready for this competitive market, they should not have entered. I was fooled by seeing the USER INTERFACE (UI) of the phone. Last but not least, make sure microsoft Once a person purchased windows phone will never ever purchase it again.

  • Guys I am watching that some guys are facing Facebook chat problem,the option is available in messaging option,open it and slide your screen to left,set chat option online,after that u will be able to see your online friends and dnt forget to open your fb chat on in msg setting. Zune player is used to synchronize your pic videos to yur PC, go to C drive, user then videos and pics..you will find every pics in your PC. Offcourse Bluetooth transfer is not available In this phone. Even i also dnt like sharing, even you can imagine that i can operate a DJ set with my phone via Bluetooth and all,Bluetooth is only for video or audio transfer? Grow up dudes, start playing with Bluetooth,i can connect my laptop with Bluetooth, i answer my calls with my laptop when my phone was charging at different room.Even its connectivity range is pretty good. Usb cable came along with this is not for using internet..just for synchronizing video,pics to your PC. Without USB cable u can use your mobile as a WiFi modem,i have taken 250 plan for 3g in airtel what a speed..tata photon get lost..my Samsung Omnia is very much professional mobile..i love it.   • cut the ringtone to less than 1 mb (in mp3 or wav) and save it in the collection folder. open the Zume software in ur laptop, find the ringtone in the "collection" tab. right click on the file u want to set as ringtone and select edit, click on the genre and select or type ringtone and save it. then transfer it to your phonne. then go to settings-> and select it as ringtone

  • Samsung omnia w is having that option to change network preference, but quiet tricky. U just have to type ##3282# in dialler menu and go to settings and chose 2G only. Now u have 2g network hope this will solve your query, omnia is good phone but only disadvantage is that we can have that nokia apps, since games are also get released for only lumia series.:-|

  • Well if you use omnia w with whatever it can do like the way you mention,7-8 hours is decent enough.What do you expect with all that usage?You are complaining of low battery?Its actually your over usage.And lastly,i don't use my phone occasionally,there is fb,mails syncing all the time.I listen to 2hours of music everyday.Check fb every now and then in break times.I dont play much games though.It lasts me about 13-16hours and im very happy with it As per the brightness issue,i never faced it.So cant really help you with that.

The screen touch of omniaW is like silk , Battery backup :- Without playing games , music , video ,surfing its give 1 day (24 hour) battery backup. After playing it gives 13 hour backup.   • Dude I think you use your phone occasionally but I use many applications on phone,music,mail,games etc everything which Omnia can do.As you told estimation time may be silly if I use nothing and use it as normal phone it will give backup of one day or more..but as per the usage it gives 7-8 hours.   • The battery time estimation shown in battery saver is a bit complicated and silly..It depends when you put your phone for a 100% charge on average.Like in my usage,omnia w can go on for at least 18 hours and even more.But i have a habbit of charging at night before sleep no matter what.I generally take it off at 100% in the morning at 8 which gives about 15hours to the next charge cycle which starts at 10-11pm.So the battery estimation shows 15-16hours ever since.Now if i change the gap between my charge cycles,it shows the estimation accordingly.I have seen as long as 1day 7 hours and as low as 12hours..Bottomline is the battery still lasts the same as before.Its not an issue

  • Windows phone has big issue in running backgroud tasks which is why several IM messangers are not working on this. The issue you mentioned is to do with the same. once you go out of Whats app instead of running it in background it gets closed and all the messages are saved on server so when you get in to it you get all these messages.....

Zune: Zune file transfer is pretty easy. Market place: Does not have as many free apps as android but has good enough apps to keep you busy scrolling through the list. Speaker: Its not extremely loud like sony speakers but decent enough that you wont miss a call for sure EarPhones: Really good Games: Xbox and marketplace have sufficient games. Internet: Even with 2g it is pretty fast SIM: Many reviews said its a SIM free. I am using Airtel SIM with the phone.

  • I will give you a couple of reasons why not to buy a wave 3. 1.Its too costly for what it brings to the table as an ecosystem 2.It hardly has any apps let alone HD games where as WP7.5 has Xbox live integration and some good games making their way to it day after day. Windows Phone is simply a better bet than bada any day.Bada is already dead.Samsung is concentrating on Tizen now and bada is doomed. As for the build quality, although wave 3 is really good,omnia w is bad either.Its got a solid build.

  • Omnia W is global version of focus flash.So ideally they are the same.They even look the same(99.99%).So omnia w also has corning gorilla glass. Im personally using it without any screen guards and stuff and i dont see any scratches at all.Mind you,i dont use any pouch for it either.So from my xperience,yes it must be having corning gorilla glass. PS:Samsung store people dont know a god damn thing(atleast in india).They are the dumbest i have seen around

  • Omnia w anyday. It has super amoled screen, a front facing camera and capacitive keys for back and search. Since skype and tango are available now on windows phone, front facing camera is a must. Omnia w has a more premium feel to it. Nokia tough has an advantage of Nokia maps and navigation

  • Amongst the windows' phones available in India at the moment Samsung Omnia W is arguably the best because it comes at the price of Rs.15000 and has a super amoled screen & a front facing camera both of which are lacking in nokia devices. Lumia 800 has clear black amoled but not super amoled while nokia Lumia 710 has an lcd screen. Now Skype and tango both are available on windows phone. So, a front camera seems to be a must have. Although nokia Lumia 800 has a more beautiful polycarbonate body, a better camera and 16 gb storage, but it's priced at around Rs.23000. While nokia Lumia 710 is priced similarly to omnia w, it has a less premium feel, lacks front camera and there's no amoled screen.

  • I'm totally smitten by the windows phone. In terms of OS fluidity and sheer beauty comparing it to android I would say it's no contest. I beats iOS as well and by a fair margin. Windows marketplace has almost all the essential apps. I'm also using iphone 3GS and Samsung galaxy sl i9003(android). Facebook is sooo very deeply integrated into the windows phone mango OS that u would routinely not be opening the dedicated Facebook app. The minuses of windows include lack of bluetooth file transfer, non expandable memory. Android is kind of limitless, a more geeky thing much like a computer and I'm still a huge fan but to be honest windows does things more gracefully with more eye candy. Animations and transitions are irresistible. There would be things u would miss if u are coming from Android though. Specifically I would add that I use airtel India 2G connection on all three platforms. Somehow the windows phone performs best out of the three followed by ios. Wifi(2mbps) performance though does not show appreciable difference among the three. Omnia w has an advantage of having front facing camera compared to nokia windows devices. Nokia maps though could be a huge advantage if u really use maps to move around because bing maps has a poor data as far as India is concerned compared to Google maps on Apple and android. LAST BUT NOT THE LEAST THE RETAILERS IN OUR COUNTRY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT AN OS EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THEY COULD LOAD U THE CRACK VERSIONS OF GAMES ON ANDROID AND A HUNDRED SONGS IN A JIFFY OVER ANDROID PLATFORM. SO FROM THIER STANDPOINT WINDOWS PHONE IS NOT AS MATCH FOR ANDROID. Multi brand retailers would stock what sells the most which is android. So, they will push android devices because that's what they have invested in, in terms of stocks.

  • windows phones really suck. so many restrictions in the name of security. feels laggy. I cannot use my phone as a usb mass storage device, no external sd card slot. I dont know why i bought this phone. I will never ever buy a windows phone again. Bluetooth is non existent, cannot use it to transfer files.   • There are some reports saying we will get the update and some others saying no..but as of now,they are still just rumours and nothing has been announced officialpy by MS...For a platform like wp which has so less of marketshare now and a long catching up to do with ios and android,it would only make sense for MS to update existing phones..Having said that not everything may come to old phones.There will be some exclusive features for the new devices otherwise nobody will buy new phones.Now if you wana wait,you might have to wait for an eternity for wp8 devices as even tango hasnt been released yet.so common sense says wp8 devices will take another 8-10months to hit the stores.

  • Yes it does have a corning gorilla glass...so need not worry about any scratches..coming to wp8 update,popular belief and word isbthat every windows phone,atleast the second generation will get the update But there is no official word yet.omnia w and lumias belong to second generation.And as for NFC, NO because none of the present wp handsets(except zte orbit and a rumoured lumia 610 nfc version) has a nfc chip inside because wp support for NFC comes with the upcoming windowsPhone8 only.So all the wp devices shipping with wp8 out of the box will only have full nfc functionality

  • Try gmaps app from the marketplace..its very very good and to make it even better,its free..an app really worth buying.its based on google maps made by a good third party developer.

  • windowsPhone doesnt have a file system..so you cant download files through browser..however there are some apps to download songs(both free n purchasable).If windowsPhone is your thing,then omnia w is far better choice than lumia 710 ...i personally wouldnt buy a wave 3 altho it has really good hardware due to lack of apps and navigation software like google maps or bing maps.

  • Haven't tried personally...zune has the feature of automatically converting the video to a format and size optimized for the phome to play without any hiccups or stutter...and anyway 720p hd video on a 3.7 inch screen doesnt make any sense.you need atleast a 720p screen and a bigger screen to enjoy the benefits of a 720p hd video...i can guarantee you this

Mass storage.. we have to transfer using Zune software only... ... I am facing one problem i.e. What i have seen is that .. I have downloaded mp3 songs or mp4 videos from other browser i.e UC Browser in the Phone. I dont how to sync these songs with Zune Player and they are playing in that browser only.. Please let me know how to sybc these downloaded songs with zune player in the phone .. Even i tried connecting phone to PC with zune software, zune software is not listing these songs.. wat i have to do please let me know ?

  • Terrific phone..battery backup is wonderful.anyday better than lumia 710.cam clarity is also very very nice.only drawback to some is lack of bluetooth file transfer.

  • No direct transfer to the device available.That's actually my only gripe about windows phone.You either have to upload it to skydrive and download it or mail it as an attachment and then download.

  • Overall a good phone except 3 things. 1. No Bluetooth sharing. 2. no memory card slot only 8 gb memory from which only 6.7 gb usable. 3. pc software zune needed to transfer files between phone and pc.

  • There is probably many reasons for this a) To prevent piracy b) Prevent the transmission of viruses c) Since there is no file management you need a software like zune to identify/convert and allow the appropriate file types to be saved in the correct locations.A bluetooth file manager cannot achieve this unless usb mode is supported :). I feel it mostly to be reasons a and c. Hope you agree to my wild assumptions

  • Only pc to pc is free in Skype.To make calls from pc(your mobile) to landlines or mobiles this means from internet to telephone switches the service is charged and only internet to internet is free. You need to buy skype credit.You got to pay an amt of 10$ for Skype credits to make calls to mobiles or landlines.
