Samsung T401G - User Reviews

  • Very likely the pin/puk code got triggered. Contact your carrier for the PUK code and instructions. Also possible: the phone is locked to a carrier that does not match the simcard in the phone and you need to contact the original carrier to get it unlocked.

  • i have a samsung SGH-t401G (ST). But i can't use it, sim lock code-1. How can i unlock it?

  • I have been sing Net10 and the Samsung T491G for aout a year - It s super. My only complaint is the internet is useless with the 401G because the memory is too low and the screen is too small. I am thinking about switching to a different phone. Net 10 has also been a super service and very economical..

  • i have been net10 for years many phones i have gone in my junk box history. i needed a new phone so i got a samsung t401g 1. it a classic design 2. its keyboard is good when it comes to answering a text demand. the mp3 player is mean with a head phone amp but its output is equal to that of 1. archos, iriver, samsung tab 2 7.0 sony dvp-fx810, asus netbook. the t401g is a like a 57 chevy it works

  • I have Samsung t401g can't use it its Sim Lock Code-1

  • I got Samsung t401G but I can't use it Sim lock-1

  • I've had this phone now for 2 months and its great! I purchased it from Straight Talk and it was the best purchase I've ever made! I'm going to leave Verizon because I have 110% better service with Straight talk! This phone is easy to use, rugged, and does everything I need it to do! It can handle my roughness with phones and that's a good thing!

  • I bought this phone brand new at a truck stop for 20.00 bucks. and for a cheap phone it is great! I have very few complaints. Its tough and and reliable. the only thing I dont like is there is no 3.5mm headphone jack and it has a music player. As far as im concerned its a great phone for the money.

  • i have this phone and i have to say its also heavy duty cause i have ran over it wasked it dryed it and just beat it up and it still works. i love it!!!

  • I have had mine for five years and i travel in usa alot. I have had no trouble whatsoever with mine. I got my money out of it long ago and it still works great.

  • Will this phone or the Net10 service resize images that come in? I had a prepaid through T-Mobile and if someone sent a picture over 1280x1024, the service/phone resized it to like a thumbnail and archiving it on my PC resulted in the same. Thanks.

  • I have a Samsung T401G Phone. I called Net 10 and ask about using the Net 10 phone as a modem for my lab top computer. Tech support said yes if I purchased a Bluetooth adapter so I did. I got the Bluetooth adapter to recognize phone. I was still unable to access internet through the phone for laptop. Is this possible and if so, how? Please help. Thanks!

  • I Have This Phone but it's just that i dont have a charger or a air time card i need to get some money and do buy it but i cant i need money. Im So tired . My Freakin charger broke so know i cant charge it so P O ed right now

  • if you want a phone with more options then buy it. this is a great phone for basic use!!

  • My daughter raved about her Straighttalk (TracPhone) service. So I switched from Revol to Straighttalk. Purchased the free Samsung T401G .... which due to the Sim card, puts me in the T-Mobile service. HORRIBLE, AWFUL service. I can't get 80% of my calls while sitting in my living room. Imagine! My daugher's phone and Straighttalk uses the Verizon, she has a GREAT service. T-Mobile STINKS ... after my purchase I was told any "G" phone utilizes T-Mobile. They refused to let me exchange my phone. Bad customer service for them and ROTTEN T-Mobile. I am so unhappy, when I have the funds, I will go back to Revol.

  • Well, I felt sorry for you! Your phone is not going to work with your SIM over there, because the problem is, the serial number on that Samsung phone, which already assigned to a previous wireless service from somewhere, AT&T, T-Mobile or any wireless connection, Most ebay wireless phone are pre-owned. Return it back to ebay, that would be your best option.

  • The fone sucks it rejects sim cards of countries outsite US

  • I bought this phone from ebay.com Im living in SRILANKA. I cant enter the sim cards in this. Displayed ad SIM Lock Code-1 That is huge prob. Plz help me.... What is this massage. plz hrlp to slove this problem

  • Cell phone models ending with a "G" use either AT&T or T MOBILE towers and those ending with a "C" use VERIZON so call your cell phone provider and read them the SIM CARD NUMBER that you now have installed. The T401g will either have a T MOBILE OR AT&T SIM. I HAD TO REQUEST/INSIST (STRAIGHT-TALK) TO SEND ME AN AT&T SIM CARD TO REPLACE THE T MOBILE SIM because I wasn't getting a signal, which I was absolutely positive about because I cancelled my T mobile account because of this problem. You can also ask others you know who have AT&T and T mobile and check their signal strength in the location that you are having problems that way you will know more before you make that call.

  • Do NOT buy this phone. You cannot do simple things like forward your phone calls, which is a standard feature in the most basic phones. (Or re-arrange the order of your menu, and a few other features.) All-in-all, not very user=friendly, and very quirky. Also, when I bought it, the package did not include a separate SD Memory card that is apparently necessary for the simple task of interfacing with my laptop. Basic things like that should be included when you buy the phone, rather than be something you have to add on later.

  • Received my Samsung t401g cell phone 2 weeks ago from Net-10. I have had issues when talking on the phone where the person I'm talking to sounds very tinny and therefore I can't hear them well, but when I put them on speakerphone I can hear them perfectly clear. I am also having issues with Samsung WEP 460 bluetooth headset which I got a few days ago. I paired it with my net-10 Samsung T401g phone. When I push the multi-function button it beeps once and automatically dials the last # called. It doesn't give me access to the voice activated feature. I am able to answer calls on it. I have deleted the headset from my phone twice and re-paired them together with the same result.I have contacted Samsung customer service via their website and was told that the headset and phone are not compatible but it could also be a hardware problem (little confusing) yet on their website they recommend that particular headset for my phone. Was wondering if anyone knew if there was something I could to remedy either issue or if I need to return the phone or headset. Please help!!

  • I'm thinking of abandoning AT&T after 16 years with them and going to straight talk. This phone is one of several offered. What is the battery life like when actively using? And how quickly is Internet upload of pages? Is there anything extra I need to purchase in order to utilize the bluetooth? Any feedback/advice someone can give me--from someone familiar with this phone--would be most appreciated.

  • Purchase an adaptor that will allow you to use a 3.5mm headphone plug... I got mine off Amazon.com for $0.01 and shipping...

  • Does anyone know how do you use the MP3 player with no headphone jack?

  • can you transfer min. fronm a tracfone to thid one

  • I believe you can, yes. Games, at least, are available when using this phone with Net10.

  • Can you down load & used Apps with the Samsung T401G ?

  • i have openeline in our country in philippines?

  • itx n0t gettin unlock,,w0t shud i do?? :(

  • I don't have that many friends :(

  • I have had this phone for a year now. an i am experiancing that it is reaciving no signal there for will not work. I do not understand why. any ideas. could it be the tower that it is using or an internal malfunction. any help would be appreaciated.

  • this from america it can be unlock in sri lanka

  • My last cell could only send 5 texts simultaneously. What are the limits to this model?

  • It represents that you are on a GPRS network. ie you can use GPRS services and have internet connectivity..!

  • "G" means it works on the AT&T Network.

  • There seems to be undocumented functions for the camera. I found that if you press '2' before snapping the photo, it will make 2 quick photos. If you press '3' first, it will countdown several seconds before snapping the photo.

  • Anyone know what the "G" icon means? It's not listed anywhere in the manual.

  • I have a memory card on my phone and put songs on it but somehow it will not transfer and play on the phone any help?

  • Ok, then explain to me when I turn on my NET10 phone it says TracFone. They are one and the same. From wikipedia: TracFone provides five brands of service: TracFone, NET10, Safelink Wireless, Straight Talk, and Senior Value Cellphone

  • You have no signal. Mine did that when I had no signal. Once I got signal, I could dial normally.

  • No, you don't. Get a memory card and that's all you need.

  • all you have to do is get a memory card and download whatever pictures off your computer and insert it into your phone.

  • is this a good phone and dependable i like the slideout keyboard for texting all i really do is text and talk just wanted something simple right now

  • You want a head ache? try transferring pictures from this phone to your PC. Frustrating to say the least unless you send them via Email to your self, you need a cable and a program sold by Samsung, pretty nifty deal for them.

  • Is it possible to use the T401G phone conneted to the computer as a modem to get internet and if so how and what setting on the phone. Thanks.

  • cheap qwerty phone for sure. buyers beware. you get what you pay for. we have had two that have become inoperable in less than 2 weeks for no apparent reason. if you want a qwerty spend a little extra money and get a phone plan.

  • Do you know what kind of SIM card you have? I have the T-mobile network SIM in mine and have the same problem you are having when trying to use the phone at home. It works great elsewhere. My wife and son have T401g's with the AT&T network SIM, their phones work at the house.

  • To answer your question about the cam recorder. After unlocking it and holding it in your right push the button on right side of phone which activates camera, then select menu (soft key) then select it.

  • Woooow. You bought the phone... it's obviously a slider with a full qwerty. I find it sad that you were surprised about that. Wooow.

  • your SIM card isn't properly seated or there's a bad connection to the SIM card.

  • Hi everyone, I bought this phone so when I am out thrift shopping I could access ebay to see if something is worth buying. Anyway I must be simple minded cause I can't figure this thing out for anything. I use net 10 as my carrier and I don't want to use all 200 minutes figuring this out. I type in ebay, get to their site. So I type in what I want for search and then what do I press to actually get it to search. Also I want to use facebook is there a way to input my user name and password so I don't have to use alot of time putting that in thanks Rachel

  • call ur own tel# from ur phone and just listen to what to do 2 set up ur voice mail

  • Need help. Phone has plenty of minutes on but is saying \\\"emergency calls only\\\". Anybody know why or what I should do?

  • goto walmart in the electronics and buy a bluetooth adapter that fits in your usb port for 20 bucks and you can bluetooth mp3s, pics, or whatever. i make my own ringtones and download some with computer and bluetooth them to my phone. i hsve the same straighttalk phone as you.

  • About the ringing problem where it gets louder, try going to Settings, and if it says anything about "ring styles or ring settings" try clicking that and look around for something....it should be able to change. if not, i'd stick with vibrate!

  • Hi,just dial your samsung phone number and it will take you step by step.

  • Hi, go to games &apps stroll down and click on camera then you will see record videos and others.

  • its cool i have a net 10 one

  • When taking a picture I was surprised that it turned the picture sideways for my phone- so i took it sideways then it was right side up. Qwerky little issue but other wise find it a great value for the money. I LOVE the QWERTY keyboard-a great time saver when adding the old contacts to my new phone.

  • I just purchased this phone- it seems fine and i like the options. It has 4-5 bars at my house. No problem with set up once I turned the phone off and then on again. it took a few minutes for my phone number to appear. I used a new number because I had no connections to the old one and the literature said transferring a number might take 2 days. One caution is to read the instructions FIRST. Apparently if you enter a number into some code entry on the phone you could ruin your phones ability to work. So just do not enter codes randomly and READ first. I wondered why they left such a critical entry area available to impulsive people who do not read first-I ALMOST entered the code there thinking that is how to activate then thought I should read first. Glad I did.

  • Staright talk free refurbished phone that is new in every part of it I can touch. skeptical I purchased less than unlimited monthly card with it. I will go unlimited next month. sure it isn't the fastest on the internet but the sound is great and service is verizon towers i guess. a slider qwerty phone that they obviously replace the keyboard on so its new. easy set-up easy use I am very pleased and I will buy another if needed. For free it wouldn't even be worth a hassle of trying to learn a new language for warranty anyway. Can't believe what a deal this is so far I recommend this phone highly. p.s. a friend bought a new one at walmart and there is NO difference at all. Go to straighttalk.com and see what samsung or refurbished phones they have its a deal I wouldn't believe unless I was holding it in my hands. check the return policy out in full though and for free be prepared to write it off is what I say despite the deal it is...good luck

  • you might have a tmobile sim and need an att sim. Try to contact executive resolutions department on the contact us page on Tracfone webpage

  • straight talk is just another pay me for nothing company i had an issue with the samsung t401g it would not get a signal no matter where i was could not even set up phone called coustmer serv after aprox 8 hrs on the phone ov er a two day period they still would not concede that the phone was defective and send me a RA number and all there techs were not americans had trouble understanding them so i finally gave up they won they got my money i got nothing but a migraine and went to another carrier

  • I have an mp4 video in my files, but there is no option to view it...any ideas? Thanks!

  • I have loaded mp3 files onto the music player and created a list but the phone insists on playing the tracks in reverse order? These are teaching mp3's and the order in which they play is important. I feel the manual that came with the phone is very inadequate and assumes a person knows more than they do. How can I get the player to play the tracks from the first to the final track instead of reverse order???? This is my first phone with online capacity and just learned about texting and a little about facebook. I include this info hopefully to show my knowledge level with the phone.

  • Not a bad phone for the money. It's a little slow on the internet, and the keyboard takes some getting used to.

  • Great phone for the money, StraightTalk provides excellent service

  • I just bought it for 100$(way over 30) also it doesn't come with a service card so +30-45

  • omg i love this tracfone it is so cool and i am going 2 by it today deember 3,2010 because it is the only tracfone with a camera do you know how cool that is.Well all i want 2 ask is how much this fone because if it is over 30 dollars then i cant pay for it but good job tracfone because the others were cool but they werent like this. Thanks so much Love destiny

  • My mom said if i wanted a phone i wld hve to pay for it myself and i thought this wld be the bes phone to get am i makin the rite choice?

  • help plssss

  • Regarding my earlier question about not being able to send mp3 files or add them to sms messages, I've discovered if I connect my phone to my computer w/a usb cord, copy the mp3 file to my computer, then attach it to an email from my personal email to my phone, it will become an amr. Pain in the rear, but at least that works LOL

  • Is it possible to import your own ringtones and use them on the phone? Or can you only use ringtones that are bought through the ringtone service the phone provides?

  • I bought this from net10 a couple weeks ago and like it so far; it takes better pics than my previous phone (Motorola EM326g) & also makes video clips though not very clear IMO. I like the qwerty keypad my last phone didn't have; however it doesn't have an fm radio like my last phone...which I still use just for the radio. One thing I've discovered, that I don't like, is that I can't attach mp3 files in SMS messages; only the midi or amr will attach. The motorola allowed that. I can bluetooth mp3s to others, but not send a cute little "kiss-kiss" sound I downloaded. So I don't know if there's a way to convert an mp3 file or if I have to just find midi or amr files to download. I also mentioned/asked in a previous post about my ringing setting...somehow it got set to ring quietly & get louder; I don't like that & can't figure out how to get it back to "normal." Still getting the hang of the phone; overall I like it a lot.

  • My phone has somehow been set to ring softly, gradually getting louder. I don't like that setting, don't know how it got that way nor can I find how to set it to just ring normally. Anyone??

  • *Update...turns out there was a problem w/my phone's browser; contacted net10 (my carrier) & they corrected it. 500 is the right gateway #...for my phone anyway.

  • Great little phone for the price! I paid $25 + $1.50 shipping that included 750 minutes from NET10. Good deal! Question... I have transferred a folder of music to the microSD.I can play the tunes from the memory card but the player won't advance to the next song on the list. It replays the current song. I have to select the next song manually. How do I move the tunes to a playlist. I think I tried everything. Any information would be appreciated.

  • There's a small button on the side of the phone that you press (after sliding-or "unlocking" phone ) to bring up the camera. When the camera is visible, press menu button to activate the camcorder. Enjoy.......

  • can someone please tell me how to access the video recorder? I bought the phone because Net10 website AND walmart.com both stated that this phone came with video recorder. there is nothing about it in the manual....there is no option in the phone that says anything about video recorder...only voice recorder and when i am in camera mode, i cannnot find any way to access an recorder please help!!

  • (same person) OK; I googled for an answer and found it on this site: It says to enter 500 for email gateway; I tried that, it said "sent successfully" but I didn't receive the message in my email.

  • Emailing...searched for other questions & found a couple similar to mine but no replies...so I'm posting another's question: "I would like to know why we can choose someone's email address but then it asks for an Email Gateway and I don't really know what to put in there. I tried punching my own # in but that sends it FROM the person to me like talking to myself." Thanks!

  • does this phone have web features???

  • have you tried to change your text message to something beside what is already is in the phone ?

  • I tryed this and it doesn't work with stright talk

  • I got my ring tones from mytinyphone they were free and sound good You have to download them to your computer then send them to your phone I want to chang my text messege but i can't figure it out

  • how to open line this phone her in the philipines samsung t401g

  • I purchased a T401g last Monday and I abosulely love the phone. I would recommand it to anyone, I really bought it for business purposes, though I have a problem. When I go to make a 3-way call I can't on the phone. All it will let me do is swap between the 2 calls by pushing the "Option soft key" and select "swap". Has any one experienced this and how do you fix it. I've have called tech support about it and they say that its not availalbe on this phone. I thought that all phones had the ability to do 3-ways. So PLEASE HELP! What is the fix for it. Thanks!!!

  • this phone is a good vibrat function and is good and fun to use ;)

  • Overall, it is a great phone for the price (got it through Net10 for about $60), but there are two things I do not like about it. First, there is this one tone that you cannot disable. Every time you update a setting, save a contact, or send a message, you hear a chime and I can't figure out how to turn it off ( I assume you can't). It it is annoying and I think you should be able to turn any sound on your phone off if you don't like it. Second, I don't like how the Browser button is located under the right soft key. That way it is easy to hit it accidentally and have minutes deducted from your account. I did it a couple times since I got the phone and I think it is absolutely unfair to charge me for hitting the key by mistake. I tried assigning a different menu option to that key, but unfortunately the phone won't let you do it.

  • Any other suggestions that did not work the code has to be 8 #s long and mine was three

  • Go to Messages, Then go to Management, Then go to Message Settings, Then go to Text Message, Then go to Send Settings, Then use the numbers that are there when it asks for the Email Gateway. You can also change the numbers to a number that is easier to remember for you if you please.

  • I saw the question several times but no answer. Is there an unlock code for the SIM card?

  • Straighttalk is awesome.

  • Go to ebay they sale alot of cases for these phones

  • Phone features are awesome. This phone is covered through AT&T,which is horrible. Can't use phone in house and randomly freezes. Like Samsung R451C with Verizon coverage.

  • Same thing drop calls, some calls less than 1 or 2 min. drop, others 15 or 20 min. drop...never finished 1 call.

  • i am having lots of dropped calls..do not recommend it. some calls r dropped in less than 2 min. others 15 min. have had it for 2 weeks. i have not finished 1 phone call. i am so sorry, i should have stayed with at&t, i do not like straight talk. not sure if its provider or phone..can anyone help..called straight talk techs. not helping!

  • Horrible, the features are ok but the service is the worst. I had net10 for this phone and it was the worst i ever had.

  • my phone keeps on turning off i cant keep it on for more then five minutes!!!!!!! what do i do???? i can't live without my phone

  • I cannot wait until I get my new phone in the mail! Uuughh! Charlie Brown screams... My $400 phone and $70 per month is just making me mad since the phone has been breaking down since day one. Now I'm switching services completely! And can you believe that (at least all of this is in my personal situation Sept 2010) it is run on Verizon lines?! That sounds way-cool as I've always heard that they have had the best coverage than anyone does. And I think their parent company is the largest in the world. However, I've heard bad things about the customer service with StraightTalk.com but with everything else looking as good as it is, I can't help it. For only $30 per month and the new phone includes one month of included service too! All for only $141 even includes tax and shipping here to Hawaii is a great deal I must say. There is no WiFI, but I can live without it since the service I am using includes unlimited internet access. Unfortunately, it looks as though I will have to purchase an $11+t/s cord for USB connection to my PC as it is a proprietary cord connection for the USB. That sucks. I hate that. Everyone should use the standard USB connections that have already been established and accepted by everyone. Proprietary stuff sucks big. Much smaller screen than what I had, and it is on its own proprietary operating system so there is no possible way of doing anything like installing Google Earch or any application that I could for my previous Windows Mobile Pro 6.0 based version of phones. And oh, no touch-screen either. That really sucks. It must be a lot slower too I bet. Overall however, a much smarter decision as I won't have to worry about anything, no big deal if I lose it or break it. Less worry means me being much happier. And that's what life is all about. Aloha.

  • If you are having problems with your phone and it is not starting up when it normally should, make sure you have performed a complete discharge of the electrical current that is running through the phone even when it is off. Take the battery out of the phone. Hold down the power button for a couple of seconds which will try to drain any remaining electrical static that is still being held in the phone's electrical system. After at least 10 seconds have gone by, re-install the battery and the cover. Then try to start the phone as you normally would. You may also want to inspect the battery contacts, never touching any copper with your fingers at all, but you can always use a pencil eraser to clean battery terminals and contacts and use special care if bending anything, of which I must disclose by saying never ever bend anything as it will void any and all warranty's I'm sure. So I hope that this helps, this is a true statement for almost everything that it could possibly apply to, if that makes sense.

  • works great. =D I think anyways

  • I have the same problem, have you figured it out?

  • I am wanting a phone so I can browse the internet. How well does the internet run on this phone? How does this service work? Am I charged by the minute for surfing the net? Thanks:

  • did you have any problem with the camera or video? on mine it had like something covering the lense on the inside of it. had to request another phone.

  • The samsung T401G with NET10 is really an appealing deal. The qwerty keyboard is a big feature ive been wanting, its so easy to use. Im very pleased i got this deal and am now saving money because of it! =D

  • just got t401g phone wanted to check it out before i called to get it activated. camera and video would not work. nothing appears in view finder. took a picture was all snowy. looked at lense and looks like something is covering it on the inside. does it have to be activated before the camera works, very strange if that is the problem.

  • i picked one up on e-bay. just type in " samsung t401g case ".

  • i have a problem.... a number keeps calling me saying hello this is tmobile wanting to talk to jess ----! we need to talk to you. i am not a holder of tmobile! and my name isnt jess ----! i have a prepaid plan so i dont want to call the company and they leave automated voice messages. please help!

  • have you dropped your phone alot? i notice that when i drop mine the back always falls off and the battery usually falls out. you may have a shortage in your battery life.....

  • try to fully charge the phone then hold the on button.... if this dosnt work, you might need to talk to the company or get a new battery. hope you get your phone to work!

  • you can record sounds and make them in to ringtones but the sound isnt very good. (1)go into menu and press games and apps. (2)press voice recorder (3)press left soft key to start recording and press it again when you are done recording (4)press options and press set as > and hit ringtone! poof! it should save in your voice list too! hope this helps!

  • i have looked from web to mall stores for a hard case too! no luck :( although, they do make leather cases for this phone.....(look on ebay)

  • A wonderful phone!!! 5 stars!i would recomend it to everyone! pros:good camera, easy to press buttons, nice sound, good price for quality, looong battery, and more.... cons:hard to find a case for this phone, alt. button is annoying,at first for me a text was 2 cents more than it needed to be until we had to call costumer service from a land line. net ten has great coverage like Verizon and even covers where Altel does not.... If you consider getting this phone, it is a no brainer for texters and a great deal is ebay. Good luck with your phone browsing!

  • I have the same problem. It powers off by itself, usually when idle, but sometimes when I slide the keyboard out, or less commonly while I am in use. Quite frustrating. I have never been able to use the downnload functions on the fun successfully, but other than that I was happy with the phone until the power problem arose.

  • I have the Samsung t401g phone and it worked fantastic from April. Now I can not use the web browser and I have spent 5 days with customer service trying to get it fixed but all I get is wait 24 to 48 hours and try it again. I have a 3 year old son with asthma and use the web browsing for alot of things like email, finding a hospital in case he has an asthma attack. I need that browser for maps to get to a hospital if necessary. Also I need it for emergencies if his grandmother is watching him and I am out she can call me. This summer our family has been traveling to beaches and state parks, etc. That phone comes in handy. I really did like the phone and was astounded when the phone stopped working altogether. I was on the phone 5 minutes before everything went crazy. I couldn't get phone (or make any) calls, tests or the web. The next day I was able to get and make calls, the texting came back on today... the web......Nothing. I am paying for an Unlimited plan every month and now I cant use part of what Im paying for. Im very upset with this. I may just go back to Virgin Mobile.. I had no problem with their Unlimited service

  • I cant find a cell phone cover anywhere for this phone tell me a website to find a cover 4 it

  • use last four digits of your phone number

  • i have a similar phone and now the phone will not turn on when i press the button and hold it down for while... can any one offer a suggestion? I've tried over and over... let it sit for a few minutes and tried again... no luck! It will charge, however, the red light charger light turns on, so it is a mechanical problem i think with the button itself...

  • Love the phone, Just 1 problem. I cannot personalize my Message Tone to any of the mp3 downloads (ringtones) that i have purchased. This is a very minor problem but it sucks horribly to only be able to chose from the 4 factory setting message tone. Can anyone help me here or am i stuck with the junk tones?

  • Oh and I am using this phone from Straight Talk. I haven't had any problems with dropped calls. Sometimes the mobile web takes a long time but it doesn't offer like 3g web or 4g so you can't expect a lot from a little phone like this. What it does offer is plenty for me. It has plenty of features and options. The slide out QWERTY keyboard is the main reason I picked this phone. I would like to know why we can choose someone's email address but then it asks for an Email Gateway and I don't really know what to put in there. I tried punching my own # in but that sends it FROM the person to me like talking to myself. If anyone has any tips on this please let me know.

  • Has anyone dealt with trying to email from the phone like a text message? It says you can send an email like you can choose email or phone number but then it asks for a gateway? Can anyone explain this to me? i am a cellphone newbie. I love the phone overall.

  • From all the reviews this phone sounds like the greatest thing since buttered bread. Is it all true? Is it too good to be true

  • Net10 and Tracfone ARE part of the same company. YOU are the one that is misinformed.

  • I love the t401g i have one and its very reliable. But i have one question about, mine keeps turning off by itself and i thought it was the battery but when i checked the battery it was full can anyone tell me why?

  • Actually Ive had a Net10 phone and it is Minutes that they charge not units and Tracfone and Net10 are both prepaid companies BUT they are not the same company just a misunderstanding

  • 07/12/10: I am not sure about this phone. I have experienced nothing but dropped calls no matter where I am calling from. I have also been told that I must use the local area code where I live. Oftentimes, it is very difficult for a connection to go through; dropped connection as well. Haven't tried to text or use camera yet. User Guide: 76 pages. Doesn't appear too user friendly. Tech support semi-responsive. However, the usual non-native English speakers lead to the usual communication problems where it takes three times the amount of time to get something accomplished and usually not successfully. I am always troubled by the fact that they are following their script; if they are "interrupted", they need to go back and start from the beginning. That is very frustrating. So far, I have very mixed emotions about this phone.

  • i have a phone samsung t401g but i can not use because it is lock; the phone ask me the code of unlocking; please if one person know the code; help me ; code of unlocking samsung t401g

  • Hmmmm.... well i'm thinking about getting this phone, because of all the good comments and reviews about it. It seems to be better than the phone i originally wanted.

  • I love this phone, i just got it today and already im in love with it it was better than my other phone that i had, and it was a LG. I would highly recommened this phone to anyone.

  • Heu Dude.....this phone has a headphone jack.....so dont wrry

  • Yes it does

  • NET10 really is the best prepaid service around! Their customer service aint that great, so ive heard..but they make up for it with their great coverage and low rates!

  • Does it have an earphone jack for the mp3player?

  • This phone is great! Prepaids are really the way to go, they cheap and easy to use. NET10 offers great deals, and the coverage i get with them is fantastic!

  • why to recive

  • da!

  • if it is use as modem to connect pc with internet ??????????

  • This phone is just what i need. It works, does its job, has all the fancy stuff for the kids, and i can still operate it with out having to read the manual just yet. Its very reliable, Im new to this prepaid business but i must admit its easier to manage my money this way, plus its way cheaper then any thing i have ever used.

  • it is a very good phone does it have a keyboard?

  • Yes it does cost u 2 recive and send

  • does it cost you to receive text

  • You have to press The Center button that says OK and then u have to press what it tells u 2 press and then u can do whatever u want with the phone..

  • i got this phone for my birthday today i love it! its great. so far no probs. I do have one question though.... how do you turn off they key pad lock?! IT WONT TURN OFF!~

  • According to all the reading I have been doing it just comes directly off your minutes.

  • Yes it does connect to a Mac a via Bluetooth File Exchange. I have also sent an MP3 to use as the custom ringtone. I haven't figured out the text alert yet but have just started on it.

  • Have enjoyed using this phone, Was my first phone and i can say it really is the best one i looked at. Out of all the phones it is the best value for money, comes with net10 so you are flexable as a student and not forced into paying a contract. And though its not the worlds most amazing phone it really is up there when you look at what you get for your money.

  • hey im lauren...im getting this phone bc i don't want to wait a year until my sister gets a job and gets her own plain for her phone.....when that happens i go on my dads onto at&t but until than i'm getting this......i have a question that has been bothering me.. it says that when you message it like 3cents...i was wondering how do pay it..does the 3cents subtract from the minutes you added or does it charge on a credit card.....someone plz help me i'm so stressed out

  • right now im contemplating about getting this phone. so far i am convinced and to answer your question sam it depends on how many minutes you use. its prepaid so you can either go to the store and buy minutes or even buy them right from the phone. but minutes are 10c each so you would get 300 min for $30 or 100 for $10 and so on but there is an unlimited plan that you can enroll in and its $50 a month no contract for unlimited talk, text, and web. you can buy min cards after tht to buy stuff like ringtones and games

  • Best prepaid phone available!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE it.

  • Best prepaid phone available!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE it.

  • This phone is the best for real people who need a good phone and dont really care about who has the best smartest most tec advanced phones. It just works, it has the required everything you need day to day with the extras that make it a worthwhile phone. Minutes are cheap and you can use it without it costing an arm and both your legs. Thats what makes this one of the best phones, it covers all the basics with style. Had it for a good while and i think i will use this phone till it dies and im forced to get something ells.

  • Hi Kira ~ If you mean it's charging .5 for texting, mine did the same thing when I first got it. You'll need to call Customer Service at Net10 to have them reprogram your phone for .3 for texting. It only takes a few minutes if you can get a good support tech.

  • I just got this phone today and I already love it.The camera has good graphics, the texting is also great, and I can buy my fav. ringtones off the internet right from my phone.I'd give this phone 5 stars.the only flaw there is is that it takes awhile to send picture messages but that's it :)

  • i think that it is a cool phone and i like it

  • i got the phone also and it is charging .50 cents does anyone know how tot change that??

  • you have to resize the image under a certain pixel number otherwise it wont send because it is to big. just make it smaller (in your options on t401g ) the picture sending works perfect. Also, most will have to call customer service to get the 4 long codes to reduce their txt charges from .05 to .03 cents per message.

  • I had the exact same thing happen with the texts costing 0.5 units (although I bought at Best Buy). Once I referenced the Website price per text and this posting she spoke to her supervisor and had me enter in the four very long codes to get the price down to 0.3 units.

  • naw bro, ur thinking of tracfone. net10 doesnt do units, it deals in dollars and cents. and yes i know they are the same company so dont go getting all smaart alik on me.

  • i haven't gotten this phone yet but it is supposed to come in today or tomorrow i have a quick question, how does the phone work, the bluetooth and can u chnge the skins or anything on this phone?

  • Also with net10 you get the first 2 months and 300 minutes free which is the best deal around.

  • Got this phone from Walmart for 69.00. I really like the .03 cents per text message. However when I activited it it was charging .05 cents per msg. I had to call Net10 cust service, spoke with a person who barely spoke english that didnt believe me when I told them that the .03 cent msg is advertised right on the box and on the Net10 website!! I told the cust service rep I wanted to speak to a supervisor then all of the sudden they discovered a way to get my phone to charge .03 cents per messgage!! I had to enter and enormously long code 4 times in to the phone and then it worked. How Net 10 won the prestigious J.D. Power award for customer service is a mystery to me!

  • For your question about the 3 cents thing.. it's not 3 cents. it's .3 units. so it' different.

  • I recently got the this phone and immediately connected it to my Mac via Bluetooth and transferred music to it. So yes, it does work on Mac!

  • Your calculation is incorrect. 17 x .03 = 0.51. With a dollar you can send 33 texts.

  • It's 3 cents to send or receive a text, so for a dollar you can send and receive about 17 texts

  • this phone is cool but one thing bothers me when i send a pic or vid it costs 2.50 min then it starts taking off more minute by minute it all adds up to about 7 mins for one pic i dont get that somebody needs to fix that

  • On NET10 for mose phones texts are 5 cents each, from what I've read, this phone allows texting at 3 cents each.

  • Hi i was wondering how many text i can do for $1 caz i do alot of text and i want it to be cheap! thanks!!

  • how can i do ti unlock samsung T401G net10 please help me thank's

  • someone know how see the messages when the reproductor is working?

  • how much is it?

  • Ok so Chuck i can send around 33 messages for only $1.00 is that correct?

  • you can send 33.3 texts with $1.00

  • I have a question for anyone with this phone who has a Mac. Have any of you tried connecting it to your Mac? Does it work like it should? Or did they purposely cripple it like Motorola did to their latest slider? I bought the Motorola EM326 last year because it was more advanced than what I had. Excited I took it home and tried to connect it to my MacBook to find out they weren't telling us that the USB transfer and BlueTooth capabilities DO NOT WORK ON MACS. I was pissed off. If this one works with a Mac in that I can connect it with the USB cable and transfer the files to it like a drive, I will probably get this. I use text messages more than I do talk so the cheaper messages would be a plus for me. But if I can't use it on my Mac, what's the point? I'll stick with my EM326 for now instead of go through the trouble of calling Net10 to transfer my information again. ALSO, does it allow any MP3 to be a ringtone, and does it allow custom MP3 text message alerts? The EM326 allowed MP3 ringtones made by me (Instead of requiring you to buy them from Motorola) but didn't allow custom text message tones. Which sucked because my previous phone, a crappy candybar from Motorola, allowed custom text message tones. Even though they were MIDI and not MP3. Lastly, how is the web browser? All other Net10 phones I've used have the worst browser ever. I am not expecting iPhone quality browsing, but at least something I can use that won't draw my battery to zero when loading one page. Thanks.

  • so how many text can you do for $1.00?

  • HI thanks so much i am very happy that it is only .3cents and not .5 thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Are you blind? If you are then I apologize, if not then please read the article before asking questions. Camera Primary 1.3 MP, 1280 x 1024 pixels Video Yes Secondary No

  • does it have a camera?

  • i keep getting this smae message

  • Get your facts right. Voice is 10 cents per minute, internet WAP browsing is 10 cents per minute (not $1.00 per minute) and each text is 3 cents, not 30 cents. The texting rate is lower then the 5 cents per text of the other Net10 phones.

  • i have the phone now it is alsome and yes it is 30 cent it deducts .3 minutes for each txt

  • Texting through NET10 is usually 5c for each text sent or received. At least that is what it is for me.

  • tell me how much texting is please

  • I haven't gotten the phone yet, but it does seem like a really good phone to get. The qwerty keyboard would come in handy. It better than Virgin Mobile's X-tc. That phone has cramped qwerty keys, and a very weird way to dial numbers. It would be best to get this phone instead of the X-tc.

  • Hi i am wondering how much the texting is on the net10 samsung t401g because i heard that it is 30¢ and i heard that it iz 50¢ can you tell me what one it is. Thanks!!

  • It can't be used with at&t, but it can be with straight talk and net 10

  • Already have it great phone

  • im gettin this phone next weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!=)

  • I really want it!

  • I really don't like the browser also. Its very limited and costs too much. I want a phone with good internet browsing.

  • just returned it b/c the browser is limited with only its own content and charges 1$/1minute for the time you r connected.

  • love net10 but am not able to set up voicemail with this one .....read your praise ,can you help?

  • its a gud fne jst the video recorder isnt as gud as other samsung fone and also i cnt put my music as ringtones as my messaging tone bt othr than that its perfect

  • Love this phone got mine at walmart for $69.00 complete with 300 minutes through net 10.has video, mp3, and still pics. mine came with car charger, case, hands free head set (not blue tooth) absolutely love it

  • this looklike motorola VE538

  • is this phone available in the philippines? if it is, how much does it cost?

  • straight talk has it

  • yes it does come with a sim card.It also has a video with the sim card on youtube.com

  • i really want this phone i have to wait until my next birthday though because it came out right after i got my LG 600g from net10, its a pretty good phone but i hate texting without a qwerty keyboard

  • I really want this phone. I hope I get it for Christmas. I keep on bugging my mom abot it. I am pretty sure I am gettingg it;since she didn't add minutes to my other phone yet. LOL

  • this is a sweet phone i wish i could have one thank you for droopping the price

  • its prepaid.. 30$ can give you 1000 text messages, 500 sent and 500 replys. I dont have it yet but it's coming : )

  • duhhh... all phones have unlimited

  • I want to buy this phone so badly.

  • message keep poping up when i try to send photo or browser, message reads: check data restrictions-36 net 10 carryer

  • Can you get unlimited text messaging with the phone?

  • Can this be a Go phone for AT&T?

  • This depends on what type of plan you sighn up for through Net10

  • Yes but since it is a prepaid phone you could not insert a, for example, T-Mobil sim card!

  • Does this phone have a sim card?

  • i bought one and its fantastic it just feels like a quality instrument and although i havn't got to try out the mp3 player yet because my bluetooth on my computer is broke. the camera and camcorder are actually better resolution than that of my actual digi camera...the qwerty keyboard is so handy, i love it. texting to a new level. and i got this phone, car charger, house charger, hands free head set and a leather case for 65 bucks thats cheap... my suggestion i love it and want it to be special so don't buy it. but if you need a good phone this is it.

  • how much money dose it cost a month

  • yes. go the browser. search facebook.com. click on facebook mobile and there u go

  • i think its a pretty good phone

  • I found this on ebay, and I think it's a great deal. You plug it into your computer and sync it to your phone using whatever media player you use. Very similar to a mp3 player. and if you want a regular 35 mm jack for headphones, you'll want this attachment. For under five bucks, you're golden. Enjoy. Laura

  • this is a nice phone i want one of these

  • Does anyone know if this phone does Instant msging or Facebook applications?

  • you can download mp3 files from PC to microSD card by using memory card reader and plug it back to the phone it will work (it works for me)

  • got this in black friday from best buy for 40 bucks. love the qwerty phones and this looks great. camera is decent, screen res. is nice, keyboard is good, it also has microsd expansion but using web costs a lot. comes with 30$ credit from net10, seems like a bargain so far. also reception is great in nyc.

  • does this phone support external java.. i mean dictionaries, games...

  • me too! i love my tracfone but i cant text with it because they dont have full key boards! also, if anyone nows, is it just tracfone that has great service or is it that i have a moterola?

  • i love this phone

  • great phone. love the looks

  • i have this phone nd it works great... i dnt like the internet on it tho cuz it costs wayy too much... im used to unlimited txting so 3 cents a min is a lil new to me buh ill get used to it i guess.. im still learning how to upgrade it... its a good prepaid tho... ive got to admitt that..

  • i got this phone for my daughter for her birthday mainly because it had a mp3 player, she wanted a phone and mp3 player so i thought this would be a good investment, however i can't figure out how to get the mp3 player to work, i bought the sd card, but can't find a usb cable to fit this phone and also after some researching found out you have to buy software for it, which i haven't been able to find either, if anyone can help me i would appreciate it!

  • Did anyone get a manufactural manual for this Samsung T401G phone?

  • You know, I bought this phone about a week ago as a net10 prepaid. It's the newest phone they have with their last being the motorola slider. This is a 99.8% upgrade from the motorola slider if you are doing prepaid. The motorola had great features but poor reception quality. This one has all the same functions except the fm radio, which you could only use with headphones w/motorola, but the sound quality is so much better and I mean so much. The camera is 100% better, it has a great camera. I haven't tried the camcorder/recorder part yet but I am sure it will be just as good as the camera depending on the recording time. I agree this is a nice phone and can say from experience that it is a great phone!

  • "try to cell us" riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

  • this phone is out allready for net 10 so prob. out for tracfone as well. Sell for 59.99 at K-Mart this week. Mike

  • Great phone. Nice screen, great keypad, love to type on it. Cheap text messaging with Net 10. Not stuck with 2 year plan. Lots of fun camera features. Takes decent pics to send MMS. Mp3 player. Everything is great. My son has lots of fun with this phone. Very inexpensive (around $75.00 with discounts thru Net 10) Just like the other full qwerty keyboard phones offered through the large providers, expept no 3g. Can't go wrong for a texting phone.

  • I hope this cheap phone to come in Greece...

  • Ι will buy this and B7610 Omnia Pro... I will use this when i will have simply to text a message quickly...

  • I have this phone yes it's a Tracfone - NET10 everything works, MP3/WMA player, MPEG4 H.263/H.264 AVI for playback on MicroSDHC, but this can go beyond the 16GB to 32GB. Right now I have 8GB MicroSDHC in mine. Video Recorder, Voice Recorder, Games, the best part you can use this in your car that has 1/8 AUX connector you need to buy S20-pin devices to use with this phone there is a OEM Samsung adapter that would allow you to playback audio and charge the phone at the sametime. A lot of users were worried about the battery life in the car.

  • bro do some hard work n try to learn how to write first...lol

  • this phone is actually being released for tracfone/net10. and if you know anything about their phones you'd know that this phone(t401g) is an EXTREMELY HUGE step for tracfone/net10 coming into the next generation of phones. maybe we'll see a touchscreen in the next 2 years??

  • not every1 has the capability to afford costly phones with sliding keyboard..so perhaps samsung is just trying to get the customers attention with lower budget to give them a lil bit of taste of how the high end phones feel like and that is a good thing..don try to see this from a high end user's point of view..try to look at it with a lower budget view and ull understand the value of this phone

  • ugly fune from samsung ?i don't understand why samebody like if they make his comment at first time is so stupid !

  • eh,all of u...samsung is different frm nokia which focuses on style only...samsung focuses on the performance and low-price...nokia phones often switches off by itself

  • ok, samsung, you just may produced the worst phone ever. WHAT'S the point of this???!!! querty on a 2.1 inch jurassic resolution dumb entry level feature phone??!!??

  • Looks like an old Samsung , like B100 or something with little keyboard :D :D :D

  • send/end? Retro!

  • looks disposable!! eww!

  • yup great phone for guyz who dont afford costly qwerty phone. its cheap n its good. samsung makes fone for masses n not jus classes.

  • Wtf is samsung doing? has it lost its mind to launch such a phone

  • well guys this phone is for heavy texting people, and for the people who can't afford an expensive phone.. samsung wants to catch the low end market to compete wid nokia..

  • wohoo 2nd! I'm gonna buy this one 4 sure

  • wohoo second. Yeah this phone sux

  • wohoo first comment. are you fuc**n* serious samsung. what a crap phone. i absolutely hate phones with a full slide out qwerty and a normal keypad. the normal keypad just takes up valuable screen space. i hate phones like this.
