I have the Samsung X100 with me for about 3 years now. - The display is poor in sunlight. Found it very difficult to read the text when in bright light. - The ring tone volume is extremely poor. I miss many call, just because if could not hear it ringing. - The thing that annoyed me the most was that it hangs very frequently while receiving and making calls. 4 out of 5 times it hangs and restarts. I would suggest people not to buy it. More than the money it is the inconvenience that you have to face that is annoying. The X100 has made me loose my faith on Samsung mobiles.

It served me fine for around 20 months,after that it started to hang when calling or receivng call.Service centre replaced back cover ,its better now.But when the phone book memmory exceeded 600 names the caller id system started to fail.It started to display some other number stored in the phone book,instead of real caller.Net connectivity is fantastic. I purchased the Samsung X100 in July 2004. For the first 12 months it worked perfectly fine. After that I started facing the problem as described by the others. The phone restarts while making or receiving calls. This is an intermediate problem which I face for 4/5 days every month. The remaining 25 days it works fine. The problem is so annoying as it prevents me from making an IMP call or receiving one. The volume of the ring is very less that I miss many of the calls just because of it. The navigation is fine and simple.

my phone hangs when making recieving calls. it has done so for the last half year now. before that it worked just well and had no problems with it. i wanted to smash it to the ground a few times, good thing i didn't. i cannot make the problem reaccur when i want to, i think is just random. ive heard it has to do with network signal fluctuations. in areas with many signal dishes or anything like that, it gets decoyed. too bad, nod i'd stay away from samsung phones

2 yr old X100 got sprinkled with H2O, u know I've crazy twins :-) Dismantled, dried in sun, assembled. Display is out. Incoming is on - unable to receive; outgoing - can't dial; coz keypad is stuck. Service center -replace d board. Downloaded phonebook, SMS to PC. Pl. tell how to download the sound files, they are v imp. Those r first sounds (crys, laughs, murmurings) of my twins. After a long I found data cable that successfully works with my Samsung X100. The cable is connect on my pc's com (port)1 and do a good job. But i'm not felling very good because the mobile set can't support greater than a file 32kb. But it has huge memory.

If your X100 Phone hangs too often while making and receiving calls i.e. while interacting the network the use this code *#8999*377# to access the inbuilt error stack. if the top most error code is 0X13041700 then it's definately a battery problem. Try this code #*4700#. It deactivates the half rate codec. I didn't notice any change except that my mobile stopped hanging.

This phone is totaly crap. Fine friend in the begining, but after some period it becomes a worst enemy. Problems: it shuts down with no reason when you need it, and it can't be turned on for a few minutes (it reboots itself few times until it become active). There are also similar problems with several Samsung models. Never buy a Samsung phone.

I have the exact same problem with my X100 too. It worked without any problem for almost 2 years. Now It gets hung as soon as a call comes or sometimes when I make a call. This seems to be a known problem as some of my friends too have the same issue. I dont know if I am right but looks like the phone software is made to behave like this (Crash after 2 years!!!). My Recommendation would be that: Never buy any samsung phone

Dear readers, I am facing problem in my X100A: it hangs and stops responding while I try to make a phone call. I have to disconnect the battery and start over again. But generaly it hangs again after the samsung start animation. repeat for 4/5 times and then it starts normaly. This problem does not occur if i navigate menu or sms. ive been using this phone for almost 2 yers! ihad no problem 1 not even once1 very good phone! its mai drawback are the lack of a camera and of an mp3 player! however if you are not a multimedia fan and you you use your phone mostly for talking and writing sms, i warlmly recommend you x100! its a flawless phone..even though when i bought it in 2004 it was very expensive, about200 euros!

even though 40-poly the midi file ringtone maximum size is only 32KB, files larger than that cannot be accepted......though the screen is 128x128 the max size of wallpaper is only 128x90 u cant have full screen wallpaper on this phone.....the screen is fine but it dont have a speakerphone??

hey people!!!!!!! dont ever buy this... this is the crappiest phone ever!! and i had a time using this, and i wouldnt risk money on buying such a crap phone once in life time again.. why i say this is that, it shuts down itself, the gprs disconnects itself, and when i receieve and make calls, its gets stuck and never responds no matter what button you press except the off button... and this doesnt even support some mmf and midi format polyphonic tones... and this, really SUCKS!!!!

This phone does support mono ringtone(imelody).u can send imelody thru ems. just that it dont have a ringtone composer, but i think monoringtone can be download. of course not in nokia ringtone format i suppose what is stupid in the sms attach melody section there are some v nice tones there suitable for sms alert but u cant use them for the sms tone at all!

I've been having this phone for almost a year. Never had any problems with messaging or else. Using data cable and new firmaware i've expanded phone memory from 9MB to 15MB(max) and Java memory to 8MB, MMF size to 512KB (1MB is also possible but then MMS function is disabled), made ringing sounds sound much louder (originaly the volume is way too low), sound quality is still very good and the back phonespeaker is still alive :) Pressing the "i" button gives rotation menu which originaly is not there. Using data cable you can upload java games and soft even with TotalCommander provided you have SGH plugin. Should you need help, drop me a line.

no REMYA, u r getting this problem, when your friends send you "PICTURE MESSAGES" from their "NOKIA" phones. This model is not compatible with NOKIA PICTURE MESSAGES (or Operator logos). Thats' why you get this error message. this is not a problem.

Hallo I'm from Indonesia, once i had this phone, my conclusions are: 1. Not comfortable for sms-ing and i find it the same to all samsung-phone products, new and old. If you happen to type a word that has a same double letter (for example 'blood'), you need to wait quite long time for the cursor to show up again in order to type again. I know that this problem can be solved by turning to T-9 mode, but what if to other languages that arent provided in the T-9 mode or special words like names, places, etc. 2. Has a very weak signaling. Once i ever tried to send a sms from inside a classroom but it failed. This doesnt happen to other brand phone such as nokia, siemens, SE. 3. Has an untidy sms organising. I admit that samsung phone products has clear voices and sharp pictures, but that is not cellular phone is all about. For me, the most essential function of cellular phone is comunication via sms or callings, not pictures or musics. Better camera or radio tape for those purposes. Promoting for simple lifestyle..... Cool phone, been very awesome. Not the most waterproof of phones though! It got lightly rained on for a few minutes face up and it's completely destroyed. Taken it to Samsung service centre and costs more than the phone's value to repair. My Nokia 3310 (which i had previously) fell in the pool and recovered fine.

HEY SAMSUNG, GREAT PHONE... everything one could hope for!!! 65536 colors, 40 poly ringtones, sound recorder, pc connectivity, JPEG, PNG, WBMP, GIF image support, MIDI, MMF, AMR(Sound Recorder) sound support, a huge huge 9.2 mb memory for its class, wap, gprs, no IR though, cool JAVA Games, wat else do u want??? just should have increased the speaker volume, both ringing and talking. battery life is great, i left it fully charged and didnt touch it for over 30 days, and the whole battery charge was still there. download images and rintones through the computer using data cable. should have had a horizontal pixel screen... ALL IN ALL, GREAT PHONE!!!!

The phone is fantastic - great Display (Siemens suxxx), The sound is super clear, Lots of memory and etc. You can even change the phones firmware by using only a program and datacable - you can even apply patches to the software installed!!! Samsung is just N:1!!! :)

Shape Ok, but its software bad. phone number recognition by call and SMS is very bad. lf you stored the number with international extension, then you won't be able to identify whi is calling unless u memorize the number..it is really a shit range of product. Hi, I bought a X100 3 days ago. I charged it completely before using it. However the charging process was over in 90 minutes appx. I disconnected the charger and again reconnected it. To my surprise, I found that it is getting charged for 10 minute more. This happens everytime. Also I am not getting a good battery back up. It lasts for less than 2 days stand by use or a talk time of 1 hour 30 minutes max. The first bar will disappear after about 24 hours and the rest of the two in another 20 hours even if I do not use it much.Also I never enabled the vibrator. Do u guys think there is a problem with the battery?

u should have easy studio 1.0.0.1 WK1 version(software) and serial cable PCB093LBE. ONLY THE MENTIONED SOFTWARE WORKS WITH THIS CABLE. u ca up and down load through file manager and u can manage ur phone book organizer etc. install software without connecting cable and phone. Restart ur computer connect cable with tel and then with com1 on computer. then start easy studio PIMS&File mager. u should have microsoft out look before installing software

I have this phone for a month. i have no problem w/ it. It looks good, exclusive and handy. The menu is functional n' neat. The GPRS n' WAP is good, fast. Bla bla bla....good good good....but no built in/attached camera, infrared, bluetooth. But I don't care. Hello. I am looking for some advice. I have an opportunity to buy samsung x100, samsung x120 or motorola c650. Which one do you prefer and why? x100 has 8mb memory, x120 - 2mb, I think, and c650 - 1,8mb. Motorola has other advantages, such as usb, mp3 and mpeg4. But what can I do with these features, when there is 1,8mb? Samsung has very nice screens and melodies. x120 has irda. I don't need the camera. Most important for me - comfotable sms typing. I think It’s a great phone for midlevel users both men and for women, even for the young as well for the adult. I don’t want to discuss any technical issue here other then my simple judgment. This device is very much comfortable to handle. The great advantage is of its memory (9 MB) and there is no rival phone of this segment with such memory size (Phonebook 1000 x 5). Its sound and reception quality is nice. 40-tone polyphonic ringer is high and melodious too. The screen displays up to 65 K colors, the colors are not bad and screen is large enough. The disadvantage is color fades in the sunlight. Another disadvantage is the absence of IrDA. Otherwise the classical phone is another symbol of novelty from Samsung. If any body wants buy such budgetary phone, my ranking is (1) Samsung X100, (2) Alcatel OT 535, (3) Samsung C100, (4) Nokia 3100, (5) Siemens S55/C60. So, like me, enjoy with Samsung X100.

d USB cable wont work with Easystudio & PIMS coz d cables r not genuinely produced or manufactured by samsung.Only the cables with a Serial Port will be able to detect the software. If u buy a USB cable the vendor from where u bought d cable gives u d Software CD. If he didnt gave u d CD then ask him for d CD.In my area all d vendors give me d USB cable along with a CD for around Rs.900

For all those of you X-100 users who think the rintones aint loud enough, heres what you should do(I did it:-)) Type in *#8999*8378# got to H/W test and you can adjust the preset volume, I've made mine max an now people outside my house can hear it when it rings, although I am not sure if this will damage the speaker or the phone in anyway. the cable is pcb133lbe, i doubt the usb cable would work. the original cable is a 15-pin serial cable. only 3rd party manufacturer makes the usb model.

Tell me friends, why is it that x100 doesn't support any recorded sound as a ringtone. Other mobiles don't support it because the speaker can't play it. But it is not the case with x100. I don't think much software change would have been required to give option of 'Voices' with the 'My Sounds' folder when setting Ringtones..

I also found some good color phones from China with unknown model names...although they offer good value for money...but i doubt the hardware life as Chinese products are always considered sub standard

X100 is a good phone for it's cost. it's Cons are 1. Ringtones/Picture messages are not downloadable via SMS, Via GPRS yes it's possible. 2. Data Cable is not easily available USB datacables is not supported unless Special USB cables with "COM port emulation software", i hear that COM Cable is same as E100/E700/S500 cable.(So it's aproblem for Laptop users with no COM Port). 3.No INFRA support. Otherwise the Phone is great when compared Feature vs cost.

More Info on X100.i use the X100 with Hutch GPRS.beleive me, ive already saved more than 3 poly tones(all MID files,not from yahoo,rediff...etc)and pictures(couple of britney stuff).A point to note,the X100 cannot download a poly ringtone that is above 30KB.Also when downloading a picture,there is no preview like the "view image"function in Nokia6600.This is really irritating for me.Browsing on the X100 is really easy otherwise except for the nagging GPRS symbol at the bottom of the screen.

X100 has a screen that is DOUBLE the size of C100's screen. Are the ringtones & wallpapers in Rediff.com,,Indiatimes.com,,Yahoo!.com,, compatible in these two phones i.e C100 & X100. Well Mad Maniac. I did tested the colume stuff in a store an dit doesn't actually increase the volume that much. Agreed, it is audible in a room but not on the street. Well regarding download things, if u r downloading from say yahoo, msn or rediff or for that matter Indiatimes, then they all support mainly Nokia Models. I had SE t310 and i was unable to download ring tones from yahoo. I though my phone was bad but it was compatibility issue. i was able to download from planetmg.com and sony ericsson's website. The scariest part of samsung phones is thast there are just 3 ringtones downloadable. ringtone volume low and vibration alert average. But Battery life sucks. when it comes to battery life, Sony Ericsson Rules. Its phones have big time battery life. I still dont know if i should buy the X100 for 6300 Rs or LG G5300 for 8000 Rs or buy a digital 3.2 MPX kodal Camera for same 8000 Rs

hi people ! thiz iz tushar 22/m/bbay Even I m planning to buy X100 shortly...but a few shortcomings which i have read on net forums have really put me in a big soup #1 I have heard many users complaining about the compatibility of phone wth downloaded pictures and mmf sounds...(existing users...can u plz clarify ?) #2 Its equally problematic when it comes to PC sync. Given the fact that it doesnt have an infra red port...PC sync is aboslutely essential. #3 As far as I recall, it doesnt come with a string holder...which makes it a bit impractical for people who travel by train, bus etc. Another version of Samsung X100 i.e. X105 is supposed to be very fantastic..features are the same....but it definitely has an edge over X100 coz of its troublefree compatibility with wap downloaded stuff and..presence of infra red port. I enquired with a local shopkeeper in Mulund...he said X105 should be here in a couple of months...its a long wait...but defnitely worth considering in case u dun wanna buy a phone urgently ! #Fahed..u can try thiz out to increase the loudness of ringtones... Type this code *#8999*8378# You will be able to see the software/Hardware version, Manfacturing Date, battery type etc... Also u can increase the ringtone volume to do this select H/W test go to Audio Settings go to Melody Gain Press save(again press save Repaeat until u get Melody Level 5) and change the value to 31 and press save. Come out from the menu, check the volume now feeedback r *welcome* tu$har !

San2, I checked the X100 at a local store in Mumbai and found its ringer volume to be extremely low. There will be instances where i may miss the call due to low ringer volume. Otherwise its a nice looking piece with a good display. Now u hv scared me abt its network problem. If u r in Mumbai and using Airtel then u r bound to face such problems coz Airtel Sucks. However, if the phone is able to keep its network on Orange or a BPL network, then it may be ok with me. Since u say network is a problem. I may hv to go for LG G3100 due to its loud ringer volume and to an extent its network catching stuff should be good. Lets see.. still confused

Fahed,i got the X100 from Singapore for my sis.It works just fine.personally i have a N6600,but the X100 is real good,battery is 900MAH unlike other Samsung phones!Lasts for 2-3hrs talktime max.Features are good,navigation very fast,overall excellent value4money! But,has some prob with network(ok,with the same SIM compared to the Nokia,the X100 fights to save the call from disconnecting! where the network is weak) and call volume is very low. Else,this is a decent phone.

Excellent phone nice and sharp picture. 9mb memory, 200 SMS, 1000 Phone Address book records each with 5 telephone number and email address. I dont know how you get the idea it is not compatible with JAZZ. I have been using it with JAZZ connection. It has sound recording option also. Only no IrDA and built in hands free. every thing is fine but the absence of Irda is really bad.even thought u have a data cable u canot use that to mobile to moblie transfer :S I guess if the back light was white insted of the gaudy blue compared to the screen :D. over all nice fone and really fast compared to NOKIA and Siemens

Hi friends!!!! about this phone.... I had c100 before it, but c100 has a very ugly shape and very small screen size therefor I turned to chosse x-100!!I bought it and I'm very happy, it's realy a good mobile (screen size, memory, nice and easy software, nice shape, very loud sounds.... and I would be more happy if they've made the screen TFT not CSTN because the color are not very sharp, and one more thing about downloading media!! there's a datacable can be used on x-100 & x-600 & E-700 and you can know more about it by browsing this site WWW.samsungmobile.com(I think when there is a datacable you'll not need bluetooth or irDA!!!!!!!!!) Thank you for reading my opinion and I tell you that you can buy this phone without any fear!!!!!

The Samsung X100 is probably the best phone you can get with a very low budget. Being light, excellent colour screen, 9mb shared memory and to mention again being extremely cheap in comparsion to other "similar" phones. Unfortunately, there is no data cable comes with it nor do I know if one is available.
