How to unlock it ? I already code in many number but this phone came out wrong code there is no return say phone is full lock. ? Sure there is a number to reset every thing. The problem is no want can help. I just read threw all the Problem from other user but still no a simple solution.

If you typed code more than 10 times, the phone will lock and you won't be able to unlock it. It hapened to me.

using dis phone since over 2 yrs now. not satisfied with touchscreen..very sensitive & poor quality by SONY. Also, lacks some imp & basic features as mentioned: 1) you cannot select multiple messages in inbox to delete 2)working with task manager -opening 3-4 apps really hangs up the phone. MOST IMP thing -Do not allow your phone to get WET under any conditions !!! else you wud be frustrated to experience touchscreen failure. otherwise phone is OK..pic quality good..it has a flash, which can be used as torch.##

i'm using it about 2 years. it is slow and no flash support i mean u can't watch videos on internet. u can use core player etc. for video types but u can only watch lower quality videos . but as expected from sony ericsson it still working properly and touch screen is good too.

I am using this phone for 1.5 years now and i feel the phone is not as good as it sounds. Only the speaker clarity is good otherwise the camera, The 3g, the speed everything is not up to mark and the worst part is the msgs it take long time to open a sms in to this phone and keypad gets jammed even if one drop of water gets in to it....i would advise clear no to all who are thinking o purchase it...

in 2G networks you have to satisfy with GPRS. no EDGE support available in this phone. it's 3G is namesake only. 384kbps is no 3G.

i've got same problem, but in my case it happen because a little crack on the touch screen. a little googling about disassembly the phone. buy a new spare part cost me 3 dollar. the rest, i do it myself. and my phone like brand new again :D

@raees: try to clean the contacts of your touch screen via the contacts of the touch screen itself and the main board contacts (go to youtube.com for video disassembly tutorial)...you may clean it with cotton buds moistened with lacquer thinner. @jas: you could either do a master reset or format internal drive but make sure you back up your pohne data first...if these fail, reinstall or get the latest firmware via SEUS

To amir: Your contacts are not duplicated in phone memory. names displayed with (M)(F) etc. are saved to your sim card. Your phone supports multiple entries on phone contacts but when these are copied to your sim they are saved separately. If you don't want to see those, just go to Contacts then options and select phone instead of sim contacts. :)

I had this phone for 4 and a half years now. I have to say, I loved it every day since I got it. Although it's starting to give up on me now (started getting weird on New Year's eve), I still say it's a great phone and worth every cent I spent on it. The only bad thing I can say about it is that it gets kinda laggy the more stuff (songs, 1500+ SMS in the Inbox, etc.) you put in. Otherwise, this phone doesn't have a hitch if you know how to take proper care of it. It lasted this long for me, so you could say I took care of it well. No mobile is perfect, so of course problems will arise sooner or later, so I don't really blame that mine's giving up on me now.

i feel the same way.. the phone still had its touch when there's more advanced phones... easy walkman with very friendly space & fitures, good camera and there's still a lot of usefull things.. never felt regret when i buy it. but i planning to buy a new one with the same satisfaction with more advanced & Usefull fitures (I Hate Blackberry i just considered as a fashionable things but lack of usefull fitures)

I've got W960i over two years, it has the best predicteble text and music player,I was never has any problems with screen but i've twice wend to provider branch because phone get sits unresponsive . My phone has onother problem, I've using Talking SlovoEd Deluxe English Dictionary, and each time when the phone swiching OF Talking funtion disappearing, and I need to reinstall all software again. i have had this phone for 2 years and 6 months. it gave me problems with the touch screen a year after i bought it and no1 could and still cant fix it. if u still want to get this phone then you must be a loony who is willing to spend more money on trying to repair it every time the touchscreen dies on tou. my brother bought it aswell and the same thing happend to him, rather than that the phone i a brillient phone and most probably one of the best in its range. remember people the X10 is out so rather go for that than down-grade to an old problematic phone. love Sony forever!!!!!!

Shuvro, Have you already viewed the task manager of your W960? I Have this phone for 2 years now and I experienced that when you kill all tasks running in the background and you reduce the brightness of the screen to 20% your battery life significantly increases. I can call for almost 90 minutes with my 2 year old (original) battery, where I first only could call for 35 minutes with the brightness on 70% and having 6-9 applications running in the background..

The display panel is spoiled if u keep it in your pocket as the resistive panel is weak ... I changed it 2 times and thinking of 3rd time as response gets mixed up. The best thing is I've c0mbined it with an original ipod's headphone(works super great).... will sell it if i have to change the touch panel for the third time@

It does sound like you have a faulty battery or its been used so much its past its best..I had a faulty battery in an alcatel fone and run the battery into the ground on my sharp gx30..Faulty cells are common but usually picked up early before they reach the public.. I never had this model but people swear by it and the P1 which i never owned either..

i used this phone for 3 months and then had to sell it. reason: poor battery life. i remember i could hardly talk for over 30 mins even after fully charging it, and i use only 2G network. the reviews here are not talking about this problem, i wonder if i accidentally bought a faulty handset. other than this, i loved this phone and i m still sorry to sell it. anyone here faced any problem here with w960i in terms of battery?

First of all if you like phones operating with symbian and the Sony Ericsson brand,this is one nice phone to buy. 1.Yes.SE W960 have WI-FI and the browsing is really easy to work with.You have multiple choices of adjusting the web pages in your browser,so you can see everything in the page. The camera is good for phone that was released in 2007.The 3.2 mpx are enough if you want to make pictures in the day,and also the Macro Mode is very good if there is enough light in the scene.So,final words are , that this phone is very good for its price,most important its SONY ERICSSON (the best brand in the world ;P ) , its easy to navigate trough the menus with the stylus or with finger touching.Nice camera,nice sound and good camera.You won't be disappointed

Well you should try connecting it to the SEUS(sony ericsson update service) freely available on the SE website, do make sure to backup your contacts and calender and other important data. The update is easy and will get you the latest firmware & will hopefully solve the problem. (perform this action on your own risk, it usually does no harm to the phone but still! bad luck doesnt tell before coming)

it depends on ur priority. For people like me who like to text with one hand while driving or even riding a bike, this is the best UIQ phone. (texting while driving may cause harm, do at your own discretion.)

1. With 3rd party applications..yes. smartmovie and coreplayer. 2. yes and you can even modd it to make it even better. 3. pretty much all that are found for symbian v3 games and apps. 4. with softwares like Fring,which actualy is free..you can use skype on this phone in 3G and WiFi modes and can even receive calls..but on GPRS/EDGE you can just chat,calling is not supported.

I need help with finding a contact number based on the title of the person or any thing I wrote in the details section. For example if I enter "Jerry, consultant, his phone number and write that we met in a bus. With the p900 I could go to contacts and go to find, write the word "bus" and all the contacts with the word "bus" will show up thus helping me find Jerry if I forgot the name of the person I met on the bus. If the touch screen fails like it happened to me, remove the battery and restart the phone after about two minutes. Going by complaints about the touch screen, it seems to be a general weakness with this phone. Even mine sometimes fails to respond till I press it. Now it's supposed to be a touch screen not PRESS screen. The p900 I owned had a very reliable touch screen. Wish they could use the same concept on the w960.

the touch screen is so sensitive. it happened to many many times already it fell and doesnt work anymore (touchscreen)i didnt go to repair it coz its kinda expensive so wat i did is i drop it over and over again. No kidding, it works. i just put it inside the socks so it will not get scratch then i drop it many times until it work again. sounds stupid but i always do it until now. but wen its WET i cannot do anything but to bring it to the repair shop.

Always keep phone memory free,try to close all opened application and function through task manager,if not try from setting wizard,finally if not still ok than go for master reset and also try to format the inbuilt 8gb memory after copying all to computer some time virus also affect the phone.

I've had this phone for over 2 years now and it's served it's purpose well! Had problems with it hanging/rebooting at first but after a fireware update (free from Sony Ericsson website!) it worked a treat! the only negative point is the fact that it slows down with the more apps you open (messaging/contacts/web/walkman etc...) but I supopse this is to be expected with the 200 mhz cpu! Although saying that I've found that if you open the "task manager" (top right icon) and close the apps your not using it speeds up again!

I've had this phone for about 6 months now and as a constant mobile changer, I have to say this is a pretty hardy and a reliable mobile. It does have negative points such as hanging and being slower than the phones in the market nowadays. But overall it's a good companion. Has a array of useful features and have to say that I find SE UIQ3 way more useful than the interfaces in Nokia (I used E71 and 5800 before W960i). And the music is absolutely superb. Wifi works good too. Good work SE... iron out few problems and you will get a solid handset. I will not be parting with my W960 for a while......

Waqas, I also sometimes have issue with the touch, but fortunately it's not that hard to solve, when your touch go mad, just press the upper part of your phone (right in the Sony Ericsson logo) with your thumb several times and your touch will go back to normal, hope that helps, I searched for this solution in the whole internet for a while ago but didn't find it, when I was desperate and wanted to destroy my phone screen by pressing them like crazy I unintentionally repaired it! God bless everyone who bought this phone!

I have to agree with moli! I have used this phone for almost 2 years, about the processing speed I think I still can forgive it for a phone on that era, but the touch screen is unbelievably awful! it got me mad everytime! sometimes the touch screen did not work or not accurate at all, even after I restarted the phone! F*#k! And! there is something else that will drive you crazy if you buy this phone, it is so DIFFICULT just to delete your sms in your inbox! like me, I have 300++ sms on my phone and I want to delete about 100++ of them, so I marked them 1 by 1, but sometimes when I miss-tap one of them, it will open the message and you know what? ALL of the markings are GONE!!!! this is just so annoying and often drive me crazy! the conclusion is DON'T buy this phone or you'll be sorry for the rest of your life like me, and now there are many better phones than this trash, why would you want to buy this trash???

wi-fi specs is just capable of 802.11b, i think that's the reason why it couldn't locate the server since most of the access point are just transmitting 802.11g, but if you have your own wireless router you can configure it anyway to 802.11 b/g.

I was using this phone for about a year. Keep in mind that im SE fan, and before I had w810i (which I have until now, and whos is working like a Swiss clock:) ), but despite that, I needed about a week to fully understand all its functions and how to use them properly. What can I say this phone is tricky to everyday use, and I wouldn't suggest buying it. About messages storage I could give a medal, coz I had all sms's from 1 year of use this phone, not a hundred or few, but kinda two thousands or smt:) About its music player, its cool, touch screen comes in handy when needed to tick any song your favourite or select a mood, findind a certain song is easy, creating playlist is not a problem also. What is problem its huge 8 Gigs storage, which you might think comes in handy.. but when you connect this phone to PC, it doesnt recognize it as data storage device, you just can put songs neither via PC Suite or Bluetooth adaptor.. Video quallity is was exellent, but to watch at 30fps video should be 176x220, on 240x320 works only at 15fps (30fps and 240x320 would be very very laggy) Pictures taken by its camera is perfect, but just slightly better that my oldies w810i :)) video filming is crap like all SEs Battery is about average, and will live longer if you do reset your phone from time to time (done it every two charges) what else.. oh about SMS. Its impossible to reply quickly at incoming sms, coz its gets laggy like "please wait" and you just starring at the screen about to smash tha damn phone into the wall if you in a hurry..:) Games worked perfect, but sometimes laggy once again, and never succeeded to launch any symbian game, it always crashed, not sure why (shoulda maybe cracked the version) So thats pretty much I guess, but if you have any questions, write at [email protected] I will reply gladly :)))

i think this mobile is good.. what I like is that its quite complicated that no one can operate it as the owner do. I like the font also and the availability of security code that keeps my privacy. on the other hand, what I don't like is that there's no such different colors of this phone as nokia.. It's better if you will provide different colors and different CUTE accessories of the phone to make it more personalized!

Hi, I want to tell you this phone is good, but it is slow when you put too much music in it. The CPU speed is 208MHZ, and 8GB is too much for this phone, that guy was right. I kept one in my hands last year, and it worked great, I like this phone. Actually 4,5 GB is enough for me, if I will buy this phone, I will put only 4 GB, coz is enough. The camera is not really good, because is NOT a camera phone, it is a music phone, so has Music functions. The touchscreen is responsive enough, believe me. It depends were was the phone made, in China or in Taiwan, or in Indonezia.

i think it's not a good choice. the sound is great and the headphones are very good. the camera is good as well. but the phone is a little slow, that's why i think its not a good choice. if it doesnt matter to you then it's a great reliable phone. i've had it sice february 2008 and it's never had a single problem. waiting for sony ericsson satio! ^^

I had had W960 for almost 1 year before change to 5800. Bundled headphones is good, you don't need to buy another good headphones. Touchscreen is not really responsive. Mostly of my complain is its slow performance. To me it's like big mistake of SE to release a high end phone with sluggish performance (it's due to slow 201 MHz processor). Camera for indoor use is not good, outdoor is ok. Infront look is cheap looking. The phone relatively stabil. It's bulky, not pocket friendly, but if size doesn't matter to you, it's ok. Hope my answer helps.

Yes, i also noticed that. And it's kinda annoying. I'm very used to moving very fast with 2 4 6 8 and the wheel. So when i want to do some fast web browsing i go back to opera 4.2. Opera 5 has really cool features and looks good but it needs to fix many things like speed, and more options like skins and the clock.

this is the most reliable phone i have ever had in terms of battery life, sounds & camera. i bought this phone in my first salary....i was using N73. more than a year past and this touch screen is gone second time...I am a rough handler and touch screen is so fragile. The scrolling wheel is also posting lots of prob... though i handled n 73 the same way..it is still solid with no complaints. If u r looking for gud touch user interface.. go for samsung ..this touch screen really bad and small... Phone is also quite oversized and apart from the pouch which comes with the retail pack, any other pouch makes it more bulkier. Poor sun light ligibility....Camera is not so impressive... Walkman is good and is the only thing in that way..but spending 20K+ in INR is not that worth. My suggestion is u get better touch screen, better camera, better smart phone is the market for lesser bucks...This is for ppl who need all those abv said feature with average perfomance in each .... SE W960i sucks..I've been using W960i for only 2 months since purchase and unfortunately, the touchscreen already malfunction. I go to their service center and they were charging me Php 6,200 for the repair and replacement..I'd rather buy another phone than paying such huge amount for the repair..So guys beware coz you might encounter the same problem. I don't think w960 is rock, it's suck regarding to its very slow process each time you open program in menu. I tried to install Youtube application but unlucky it's not compatible with the phone. And bulid quality especially infront, looks cheap toy. On its first lunch the phone is very pricey (you didn't get what you pay). Also i don't think w960 is best in music line. It doesn't have 3.5 mm jack on board that would cause you have problem with cabling and hey, you would have problem with headset port after few months of use. I had a problem with the bundled headset that i tried to plug in plug out again and again because the phone could not detect the headset. Also you can't set up equilizer like xpress music. Mega Bass is suck, especially if you already had experience to listen audiophile sounds.

I had been using this phone for about 8 months. Yes, its interface is slow (compare to my current phone, nokia 5800). Plus side is music with bundled headphones is rather good. Editing documents (quickoffice) is slow. Also you need to be careful about stylus that it scratch your screen. I have no idea about C series is i never had the phones. If you care of music, i think it's worth to buy, as long as you can live with its slow performance.

Hello all- I am on the look for a new phone. Currently I am using my SE W810i. It is a very nice phone, but I've had it for more than 3 years and I think it is time to upgrade. I bought a stupid touch screen LG KU990 cell phone and I hated it. The touch screen was slow and I hated how hard it was to write a text message without pressing the wrong letter every time, b/c of the stupid touch screen. Lets just say I like to push buttons. :) So I can't decide and I need your opinions. I don't want waste any more money on phone. I want the phone to be SE, to have WIFI and to have buttons. I don't mind it to be both buttons and touch screen, but I need the damn buttons. I have looked and looked and I can't decide which one is better. It is between SE W995 and XPERIA X1. Also I am looking at the W960. What do u guys think ? Or should I wait for the SE Aino to come out in September. Which one has a better performance and which one is worth the $ ? Please help ! heyy,, Yes, this phone can run .sis applications but only which are for UIQ OS. That means if u ttry to run any Nokia's .sis application, it won't work in this. There are many other .sis apps for UIQ.

heyy,, This phone can store unlimited SMS (depending on the memory available)... This phone doesn't have a memory slot so obviously u cant store SMSs on the memory card, however u can store ur messages in the 8GB flash memory.

salvin, it is very easy to creat playlist. Just press the walkman shortcut botton, select my music or back botton to enable u see the tracks, select more, select manage, select mark, then u will see that option for marking will appear in all the tracks. U only need to mark the tracks u want to be in a particular playlist and select 'more', select 'add to', select playlist or the name of the playlist if already created and select ok. every track will be copied to dat playlist. hope it will help.

Hi dear, i replied your question via my phone but seems gsm arena not yet to publish. Files you received via bluetooth automatically saved to message. In Inbox you view the message then save (you automatically go to File Manager, choose top right-multimedia memory- to save your songs, the top left one is primary phone memory). Simpler and faster way to copy your favourite songs is by plugging your usb cable,put your songs in Music folder that it's multimedia memory. Hope my answer helps. Hi dear. All files transfer via bluetooth are saved in message. You simply view the message and save, automatically go to file manager, then click top right icon (multimedia icon), not top left (it's primary phone memory). If you accidentally saved your songs in primary phone memory, just mark the files then edit, move to, go to multimedia memory. If you want a simpler way, you just plug your usb cable to computer(choose fast file transfer mode in your phone-it display when you plug the usb to computer) and then copy your favourite songs to music folder. It's automatically saved in 8g memory. Hope it helps you. Feel free to post your question, i will respond you ASAP.

I think you probably put the songs on primary phone memory, not multimedia memory (8G). Go to File Manager to see where the songs you put

The W960 is slow, and yes, I will get something else. It is very hard to calibrate ANYTHING when the touchscreen is (like it often is) completly unresponsive. The battery life is fine, until you use any application - then it drains it very very fast. Thanx for the software tips, it is actually good advice, just sucks that you had to be personal and rude. The sound quality is ACTUALLY bad - especially for a phone that is supposed to be such an "excellent" music player, I have ears, I can hear, and it sucks. It compares badly to my friends' phones and even worse to any normal mp3 player. And the headphones I got are uncomfortable and just not good in any real way. Why do I feel like I have to explain everything to YOU?

I don't think there's an option to change the color of the font from the phone itself. I had the same issue once. If u have change ur theme, the theme has it own font color. U can change tht by the software - Themes Creator which is provided in the PC Suite CD. Just put any of ur theme in the software and u can modify anything of the theme...like font color, default wallpaper, etc.

Well, not to say that ignorance is at play on ure part, but isnt the W960i a dedicated musice phone. That's its mainstream stream function. The N95 in majority of cases is louder than the W960i but the quality of it cannot be compared as the W960i leaves it behind.The user interface on the N95 in general sucks, the navigation buttons are ridiculously uncomfortable, the design of the phone itself is uncomfortable. Yeah it prob has a better vid output software and ports for it but the W960i is a music fone and in all regards to me its one of the best user friendly dedicated music fones out there.O and lets not forget that it has touchscreen with handwriting recog which is super.

This is just load of bullsh*t, have you seen Xperia screen?its just 65k colors and it can beat any Nokia with 16m colors ANYTIME. Even SE sets like K850, W890, K770 or W902 can beat Nokia screens with 16m colors easily. The only thing that matters is the pixels, not the number of colors..Se sets have much better screen than Nokia.

You must watch a 16 million-color screen before say anything, the 6131 screen can beat all screens from SE or Nokia, even people that have a n73 (or similar) that has a higher screen than the 6131 (2.4" against 2.2") can see it. A 16 million-color screen can never be compared to a 256,000 color screen, but however the 16 million can suck your battery in 2 hours (That's the real reason because just very few phones have a 16-million screen)

well...i've been using this phone for about 5months now and it was great. at first i was feelin uneazy with the way to navigate using screen and schrool wheel. but now it not a matter. i havent had any problem with the touch screen but since time being i found out that the screen would fade when it comes to direct sunlight. and there seems like fungus from the inner side of the screen i thought it was some sort of dust. the audio player sounds amazing but with the standard ear plug the bass isnt so deep so i use after market earplug and...my trance and electonic dance music would turn everywhere become my own club...so..damn great.

I absolutely LOVE THIS PHONE! ! ! I have had my W960i handset over a 14 months now, and I gotta admit it beats N-Series Nokia's hands down!!! Aside from me having to do software upgrades 2 times since I got it, i think this is a perfect 10 HANDSET!!! Only thing Sony Ericsson should do is prvide a rubber-tipped stylus, as my screen got scratched from using the styluses which came in the box.... by then again my service provider gladly replaced my screen!!! alright it the screen breaks so often, i have set the counter and will see when mine goes... however, it has fallen twice and luckily survived... its only bad when screen breaks will normal use, if it breaks due to the fact that it had fallen then whose fault is it....

Well,, its all on personal choice....I was very obsessed with 'touchscreen' before specially for web browsing,, so I thought of buying an iPhone but it wasn't available in my area,, so I bought W960i...But now touchscreen doesn't really matter to me,, so I shifted to N95!! My opinion, W960i is a good phone if you want touchscreen, or else I like N95 better!

And about style, every one has a personal choice,, I like the style of dual slide in N95...but overall I feel W960i is much more good looking! But I'm not so fond about looks or style! And in that case I go for N95 'coz feature are more important to me! And one more thing,,, since UIQ - which is W960i's OS....is officially dead, it wont be supported by SE itself! Therefore, N95 has much more scope in future...I know its an old phone....but still!

well probably u r right, but if u analyze, there is no forum that starts, "the phone is great, lets share the good things ab it", people tend to seek advice when they are facing problems, i have not faced any problem yet, and i know that it doesnt respond well to finger in certain cases, but if i use its stick then its perfect, processor should have been power full but its not irritating, its not that slow... n95 well, its got more power, but does it have the style and the features of w960. and say it honestly, its camera and walkman are better than n95.

Mars is correct, every issue he's had with the W960 is very well know. This phone just cant handle heavy useage, its slow due to its very old ARM9 CPU, the touchscreen stops working in a lot of cases which then renders the phone almost useless, sound quality isnt that great yet its supposed to be a Walkman Flagship lol etc. . . .Mars is speaking the truth,you just cant handle it.

Stop it. The W960 is a good phone. Yes, it is a bit slow. If you don't like it, get something else. The touchscreen can be calibrated from the menu if you just take a minute to read the manual. Battery life: I got 4 days max. It's very normal for smartphones to get 3 days in standby. Use SEUS to fix all software-related problems. Everything in drive C: on the phone will be lost. The D: drive (the 8GB one) will remain unchanged. What's so hard to plug your phone in file transfer mode? That way you can transfer files amazingly fast. You're right about yourself being "inept". You have Opera mobile 8.65 and 9.5 and Opera mini 4.2 at your disposal. Activate 3G (if you have that 'amazing' thing in your area) and surf the net. Or if you have a WLAN somewhere near, use it. The sound quality is actually great. If you consider it to be poor, well, use the equalizer and use some decent headphones. The ones you got with the phone are from the best. Do i have to explain everything to you?

This is really a bad phone. I've had mine for less than a year, and man, does it suck. The operating system is dead slow, the touchscreen is insanely annoying, and apart from a couple of nice functions, the overall user experience is one of frustration. As far as battery life goes - no comment. The worst though, is when the one thing on a touchscreen phone that just isn't supposed to break, namely the touchscreen function, breaks. My phone also hasn't made one single sound in more than two months - there is a problem with the sound. I still haven't taken it in, because according to my service provider, there is a "chance that all the data saved could be lost," and I find it to be a mission to copy things over to my PC using the provided software. I'm also struggling with the internet, though that might just be me being inept. I don't use the music player much either. This is due to how impractical it is as well as the fairly poor sound quality. The standard headphones also stink big time. If anyone is considering this phone, don't. Get a basic phone that does everything that you do most, everyday, well. That would be phoning and sending text messages. If you want a music player, get an iPod. I'm surely going to be following this strategy when I upgrade...

W960i usually have problems regarding touchscreen not working or the inner LCD screen broken [which happened to me last week], these problems usually arise after like 8-10 months! However, these problems can be fixed, by paying extra cash!

UtaB the phone does show all message folders u mentioned. In the message application u will see Messages which has underneath Inbox and number of unread messages u have, beside it are two arrows which can be scrolled with stylus to see other folders like sent, draft etc for messages. i hope this will help.

i've had the phone for six months now and its a good phone except for the touch screen which really bad i had to take the phone in twice for repairs, the screens is non responsive and i am really dissapointed. it would have been good for sony if one could use the jog and touch screen interchable in casse the screen fails at least you would be still be able to use the phone by using the Jog wheel

sean, in my own opinion i think W960i is ok in all ramification including the camera though is 3.2mp. But if u want to buy w960i, is better u buy the one dat is not branded by any network operator.The batch of W960i's in the market now are all updated and they perform real good. Nokia 5800 is not better dan w960 in practice even though the specs say so.incase u have a re-think just go for w902 or w980, if u don't care about a phone being a smartphone and also having a touchscreen.

Hello everybody, i have being following up everybodies commendation and complaints towards this phone. I couldn't talk cos i haven't used the phone yet, but now i am a bonafide owner of this great phone. This phone as far as I am concern does not have a complete rival around cos it encompasses every thing u need for your multimedia and business experience. Nevertheless the two problems most people dreaded alot were 1.slow response for the touch screen and 2.speed of the processor during applications. I will have say this dat these two things are no problems if u understand the UIQ operating system well: For the touch screen, if u want a quicker response u have to go through the setup wizard and calibrate your screen acurrately cos if not calibrated well will cause frustrations when using the touch screen. For the speed, after leaving an application, the application does not really stop, it will still be running and u know the phone has only 128MB of RAM, so when many applications are running without proper ending through the task manager the device will definitely be slow cos perhaps the RAM memory is getting low and the processor is not dat fast. Finally i advise dat after running so many applications, for better speed and performance u have to go and properly end the applications u are not using with the help of the task manager. This is the best fone i have ever used (multimedia mixed with business) and my own w960 is not branded by any network operator. So i recommend this phone to everybody. Thanks.

The phone is OK when it comes to built but my problems with this phone are: 1. During a call, when my cheek touches the screen, sometimes, i accidentally put my calls on HOLD. It really annoys me. 2. The interface, in long use become slow... 3. Movies installed in my media memory can't be fully played. It starts and freeze suddenly. NOTE: I have the lates firmware... (i used to update all my cellphones' firmware every month.)

I have W960i and it is more beautiful looking and the 8GB is impressive of course but operating speed is not good so overtime you'd become annoyed IMO. The Walkman software is awesome. Basically this is a beauty but P1 is faster and more reliable with a 'sunken' screen which acts as protection for it as opposed to W960's screen. My touchscreen is also starting to give me problems where the top part goes dead and doesn't respond to touches.

I am a die hard Sony fan and bought 6 of these for my family but we've all had problems with the touch screen which routinely fails. I hung on to mine the longest as I loved it but it's finally let me down permanently so I'm changing to the C905. Sad because when the touch screen works it's great.

You can use a software called FMA, it's incredible,it needs some prior knowledge of mobile comm. settings, you can download it for free from you can save your SMS on your computer, along with phonebook, and everything.

well u need to download the update software its available on SE.com, then install the software it self explains with images with do's and dont's in a nut shell download the software install connect yr phone to pc and run the update programme, choose yr phone from options and from there on it shall proceed telling u what to do. follow instructions properly failing to do so u might loose yr phone small tips make sure u completely charge yr battery if u have the cable which allows to charge @ same time is prefferred. it takes a bit long be patient best of luck its not that hard

hey using it now for a month + few dayz, yes the phone was initially slow bought it originally from Europe, and i found the phone was amazing later i upgraded it with the official update for the phone and now the latest firmware is amazing, it has boosted the phone, processing is faster its much far responsive now, touch screen is again very responsive, a load of other features has been added games have been added all in all i would suggest upgrade the rom and see the diffrence any questions write me here i shall revert back

i think w960 is good to use, coz i've been using it for quite sometime. if you like listening to music and watching movies this phone is definitely what you're looking for because the sounds is great.... but if you are a text addict and wanted a speedy type of cp when opening messages, then it's not w960.

There's a software called "Touch Dial" that u can use to dial numbers using the touchscreen!! Google it to download it.....and there's no built-in function to do that!!

At first i kinda doubt about this phone.. i am stuck between n82, n95, g900 and w960.. in the end. i decided to use w960.. initialy i soft of worry bout all those complain about insensitivity of touchscreen, slow and etc.. after 4 months. indeed this the best phone i ever used.. 1) touchscreen is superb 2) the software is great ( and iphone theme instaled this ROX) 3) 8G is great.. dun even can fill it to max ( unless put movie into it) 4) walkman is great. eventhough the speaker not crystal clear like nokia dua-speaker.. headset esp walkman.. POWERFUL 5) camera relatively alrite.. not that bad as reported.. for moderate quality, thats more than enough 6) speed ok, a bit slow but still can be acceptable 7) not dat hand as reported.. so far so good. 8) wifi is great..

the best phone ive ever used. some say its slow but n95 n96 is more slow when you fill up even 1 gb. But 960 gets little slow when you fill it almost to the top. you can get all the new apps on it and its kind of a smart phone with walkman(world most great music phones) has the best wifi conn ever made even n96 cant go so fast. I've had my W960i for over 12mths now and apart from having to update the software on it I have no complaints it looks good the sound quality is second to none battery life is good and while it doesn't have the software availability of the nokia N95 and N96 I like it and overall I would give it 9/10

I suggest you stop posting rubbish. This and iPhone DO NOT have the same screen materials. iPhone screen is glass, W960 is plastic,also the W960 has a very average touchscreen thats nowhere as good as the iPhone screen. Remember W960 uses resistive technology whereas iPhone uses capacitive.

heyy kayc, im srry but im nt sure where the pic could be!! But have u chekd all folders of Messaging like Inbox, Draft, and other folders?? If u can't find it and if u know the name of the file, then go to Messaging and select the "Find Message" option from "More" and type the name of the file!! If its not there in Messaging, then try finding it in the Picture Gallery in Multimedia!! Hope u get it!!:D

The sound quality from the earphones is pretty good with great bass!! The speakers are although not that loud but has good bass!! The touchscreen I would say is not reliable, there are many complaints that the touchscreen sops working after 10 or some months, and in the start the phone is not comfortable to use!! The WiFi supports only "b" networks whereas other phones support "b" & "g" networks, but that's not a big problem though!! "If u want a phone with a big screen (I guess big touchscreen), and with amazing sound quality from earphones, and with WiFi, the perfect phone for u would be 'iPhone' (2g or 3g), but if the price is high for u, then Nokia 5800 XM would also be a very good choice!! The iPhone has the best music quality of all through earphones, whereas 5800 is considered the best music phone available in the market!! And also both the phones have big screens and 8 gigs of storage!! W960i is also a good music phone though, but I would rank it 3rd among these three!! And ya... while using W960i, since there is no D-Pad and a Jog wheel instead, u need to keep switching from palm to hand often, so that becomes irritating at times!!

It has great bass both in earphone and in speaker, but the speaker is not much loud!! I haven't tried out W902 so I can't say about that!! "If u are looking for a touchscreen phone with a big screen, WiFi, and amazing sound quality (from earphones), the perfect phone for u will be the "iPhone"!!

If u want a touchscreen phone, go for W960i!! But if if touchscreen is not a main hing, then go for W902 it has a better camera and better music quality, and its also a newer model!! The only advantages of W960i are Touchscreen & WiFi!!

The OS of this phone which is UIQ is officially dead by Sony Ericsson, that means now SE will stop making any softwares for this phone, and there won't be any update softwares for the UIQ handsets!! Now, if the OS is only dead, then it is obvious that they would stop producing these phones!! Its a pretty cool phone, but the screen is horrible. Gets stuck after about 4 months and then phones random all the time... It would be good if the 2 buttons that are based in the bottom of the screen (touch buttons) where real buttons. Also, some of the functions are intuitive to sony ericsson users... I have been a sony Ericsson user for years and felt like this was designed by someone else. Simple things like being able to clear a message... it was just different. I now have a w890 and right back to good'o'l sony ericsson normality.

One of the worst. Touchscreen has got stuck on a certain spot after only 8 months. Now it's dialing random numbers in my phonebook. I even hated it before that. It's super sluggish and slow, has horrible interfaces, too big for my pocket. Can't be used in daylight as the touchscreen gets "greyed out"... etc. Happy to hear its the last in that series/OS. Considering it was really expensive i rate it 2/10.

I just bought one and it looks to be just fine. The LCD quality is poor but the speaker is good. The volume keys are extremely annoying but not as bad as slow response which is very disappointing. The price of this handset is cheap enough to provoke anyone. Overall I give 7/10.

To Push... when you are on a call. there is an icon on left top corner. tap it and it will ask you to unlock the status bar or something like that, click yes on it and then click that top left corner icon again and you'll see an option to lock the screen there.

heyy, even i get tht same problem....its probably coz this phone does not support "802.11g" WiFi networks,, and the router to which ur connecting may not support "802.11b" networks!! Try connecting to a different router, thn it would work!! But I guess there is a way to make it work, by changing some settings!! I guess ur using a Siemens router!!

I tested the 5800 yesterday..Its crap! the pen for touchscreen is crap and its just like the N73 but with a new bigger screen on it. iPhone 3G is worth it more then the 5800. W960i is awesome though, its worth buying, cool walkman and touchscreen that actually works and 8GB of memory..its rockin

hii, I would say tht u still shouldn't go for this phone......5800 has all the types of input methods that W960i has,, even the number pad method (but the numbers appear on the screen),, and that too the screen is bigger so it is easier to type,, but still its your choice!!

In response to the guy saying this is the best phone - no it isn't. The touchscreen and system layout are irritating and fiddly to use and that's just for starters. It has too many interfaces: touch, scroll wheel AND buttons and does not forgive input mistakes, which are frequent due to tiny screen icons. Try before you buy, seriously.

guys....after a year of usage my touch screen stopped working....i got so pissed off and then is aw ur entries which didnt help. so i decided to backup my files and synchronize it just incase the repain shop tels me to reset it. so i connected my phone to my pc and all the sudden it started working again :) it was probably PMSing looooooooooool

heyy, W960i doesnt hve an accelerometer, nd it does get slow if u install many application, but if u use the memory for multimedia, thn it would get slow bt nt tht much....onli if the memory is fully used, thn it bcmes slow!! And i would say tht 5800 is definitely better thn W960i...5800 also has accelerometer!!

I guess, 5800 for that price is not worth much....try getting N82 if u don't want touchscreen....or maybe just wait and try your luck!! And about the WiFi networks...in simple words...its just that W960i's WiFi [11 mbps] is a lil slower than 5800's WiFi [54 mbps]....but v lil....coz thts onli the connection speed!! And if ur still not gettin the phone....u can try a site like ebay!!

well where i live both of them aren't available. =( SE for some reason isn't available in the market and only a selected few nokias are available. i did manage to find one dealer with a 5800 but he's selling it for PKR 34,000/- roughly US$425. so i don't really know what to go for. and as for the networks, i really don't know much about those technicalities hehe.

According to your specifications, i think 5800 is the pefect phone for you...it has wifi...its an Xpress Music phone so it has a good Music Player....it has a large enough touchscreen....but it only has a 3.2 MP camera with autofocus and flash which i think is more than enough!!....or else if you can sacrifice touchscreen....then i would recommend you N82 [5MP with xenon flash]!! All these specifications are also there in W960i but 5800 is way better coz its a newer model....then W960i has a lil small touchscreen...and the camera is okay but not that great....and also W960i's WiFi is slower than 5800 coz it supports only "b" networks whereas 5800 supports both "b" & "g" networks!!

I own K800i previously and now a proud owner of W960i If we assume K800i camera scored 9, K810i scored 10 then honestly ( sorry ) W960i just scored 6.5 out of ten.. Not even reach 7 even with LED-Flash on And yes too bad UIQ is bankrupt. I'll take care my phone.. one among some UIQ 3.0 phone's family. Just imagine if UIQ not bankrupt, W990i is released with 32 GB memory, 5 MP cam, motion sensor, and UIQ version 4.0 !! T___T

sony ericson w960i really sucks i bought it in manila for 22k, and just a few months later it hangs without any reason at all, i went to sony repair center, of course they will repair it and then a few months later it stuck up again, and i brought it again in sony ericsson repair center, and when i asked them whats the problem with the unit, i didnt even used it that much coz it is so unuser friendly, and the technician said the software is corrupt.WHAT? so what does it mean automatically your files will be corrupted when you already got a lot of file or picture in its memory and he said yes.what a f*ck!

oh god, what a comparison, w960 runs on symbian uiq k790 is just a java phone w960 has 8gb, 2.6" touchscreen, wifi, walkman 3.0, document editor/reader, pdf reader, etc. the only advantage of the k790 is the camera, cause it has a xenon flash, but that's all, i would take the w960 any day.

This is caused by old firmware od a virus (less possible). I guess that you had the oldest fw which was bugged as hell. All probe solved by a simple update done by seus. Ewentually sw reinstal if update wont help or is blocked for some reason (eg. sw is damaged). Nothing impossible to be done. We dont live in a world where everything is perfect do dont demand from such complicated device that it'll allways work fine. If dont know how to treat your phone when something is messed up and only solution you know is selling it - buy N3210.....

I have the w960i, I have been having issues with it's response time as it is very sluggish, it doesn't charge via usb, the battery life is not very lasting even if it's everyday use, settings change on their own. to get good play lists u have to songs to the phone , then go into the walkman. go into auto playlist, choose latest additions, update music. This should show u the last set of songs that were added, assign them to a playlist and u should be good to go. Its the easiest way to add songs stright to a playlist, also u could make one in winamp or some thing and send the songs from the winamp playlist to the pnone and well do what i said above, and then customize.

i've used my w960 for 10 months and it's still working very good. it's the best phone i've ever had. the music experience is amazing, the camera is good. the build quality is good.i have dropped it many times, actually i just dropped it yesterday and it got a little scratch on the front shiny part but that's it... nothing happened.

Maybe i can answer that. There's a lot of device and software of GPS in the market. U will have to install the GPS software into the phone then pair it with the GPS receiver. Your phone will be use as the diaplay and the GPS device will link to the sattelite. For me, i'm using Garmin Mobile XT for symbian to install it into my W960 then pair it with Garmin GPS 10x GPS revceiver. For further info u can go to garmin websites. Hope this will help u

actually it depends on which firmware version his phone has, sony ericsson released a firmware update which is, R9K009,so he might be able to update if he has an older version, but if his version is, R9K009, then, there's no update.

u can use a software called "MG Maps"!! Its a very good software, u can also download the maps and view it offline,, there's a software called "Google Maps" also, but i dont think u would get that on the google site, and ya its a software, not a site!!

the phone is awesome. It is a bit slow sometimes..especially when im downloading emails and trying to search in the menu at the same time. Only major problem is when recieving files via bluetooth, you have to maunually save it too the 8GB memory. Otherwise the best phone that i have used so far.

it can definitely dwnload themes.easiest way is to surf d net, dwnload into pc and into phone..save in folder than install..to change theme, go to control panel, device, and select themes after installation..i find zedge.net is a great website to do so..

this is a good solid handset, can be slow at times but the features outweigh this slight issue 10 to 1. wifi, 8gb, unsurpassed music player, ability to install DivX player, i currently using it as a sat nnav display....what more doo you want?!

hi guys, yesterday i lost my w960 original charger (CST 75) and it's kinda hard looking for it here in indonesia. SE shop told me it took 1 week to order new one. the only option i have is CST 60, but i found out that the input voltage is 100mA and the output is 450mA while CST 75 150mA and 700mA. is it ok for me to buy it, cos the told me too that the difference is only on charging time, the CST 65 takes longer than CST 75 to reach full battery. please help asap guys thanks

to get the latest firmware install the pc suite that comes with the phone and use the sony ericsson update service or download it from the sony ericsson web site. once you've install it follow the simple instructions such as charging the battery completel

i agree with kenji!the touchscreen is very annoying when it stops working!the only way it s working again is by pressing the screen hard!and it doesnt always work!a friend of mine face the same problem with his p1i but all he have to do in order for the touch screen to work again is to turn the phone off and on!! is there anybody whith a better solution?plz reply

Oh...sory. Forgot to tell u. U have to sign up first before they allowed you to download it. Try it. it's free. All you have to do is sign up then u'll need to identify you type of mobile phone. After u successfully create the account, then go to support>phone. Then, at the 'Update your phone Software', click the '-via the computer with the Update Service application. Just follow the step by step instruction. Hope this will help u much.

i love this phone !!! i have used it for a year now and hav had no probs ... just now bymistakly i dropped the phone and the touchscreen stopped working ... but till den i never had any problems at all the camera and the speaker quality can never b beaten by any other phone ... and yea i cud say that the wifi is pretty useless cuz of the opera browser

Hey, I go to the shopping area a few days ago. My 1st target is N-5800 XpresMusic. But I give up, it's too pricey lol. Then as I plan before I go to SE P1i. But the phone is not available -_-.. Therefore I go for the last choice W960i ( 3 of them is a touch screen device ), luckily its available ;D UIQ is no more available. But guess what : I Did A Firmware Update 10 minutes before I post this comment.. So here we goes. Pros : Hi-fi audio quality Touchscreen + normal keypad Solid body 8 GB memory ;D ( nicee ) Cons: Mediocre camera Very slow at starting up Might be complicated to use for UIQ beginner

Its year since released, all plastic with hollow batt cover which cracks when pressing num pad. Start with P990i P1 and W960 all have same firmware just cosmetic changes, but price diff is more than half. Performance wlan does not connect easily nor BT transfer are slow. 16Gb was craze year back not now! Beaware Se has discontinued UIQ 3.Its now redundant.

i have a year with my w960 and the touchscreen is perfect, i have dropped it several times and it's very resistant. about the navigation it's very comfortable for me and you can get help from the jog dial that's on the left side to move around the menus

i use itunes to put the album art and the lyrics. when you have your songs in your itunes library,do a right click and select get info or something like that, i don't really know because my itunes is in spanish. then you can add your lyrics and album art if you don't have it.
