Samsung Xcover 271 - User Reviews

  • The GT-B2710 is currently unavailable except for a "strange" up-date under Android at a whopping E180,- price tag... utterly unacceptable, for a CANDY-BAR format.

  • at this date, 2019 they are $ 70 on eBay, batteries $ 15 i recommend for a simple back up phone

  • Love this phone, bought on ebay, its my Costa Rica bar phone, drop it in drinks to show off, terrible at text and aps but a good safety option to call a taxi

  • If I'm not mistaken - there was a special edition London 2012 Samsung B2710, right?

  • The LCD is probably interchangable with the Nokia 5000d-2, Nokia 7100 Supernova and Sony Ericsson K800 right? No?

  • probably w/ samsung kies.

  • EBAY

  • hy, Where did you buy the Samsung xcover 271? mine has the audio KO...marisa from Itlay

  • The best size

  • love this fone. perfect if you are a outdoor person and all you want is to make and recieve calls and text. ive had one for 4 5 years and its never let me down so ive just ordered another today, i broke the screen on other one and spares are impossible to get. cant fault the fone.

  • The best brick phone I still own and use for my rough workspace. Past full 5 years it has not let me down after countless drops. I only use it for calls and it's pristine at doing this exact job! While the battery has worn over the course of 5, almost 6 years, it still holds at least 4-5 days and when I got it it used to hold entire two weeks! Still very surprised how well it performs even after all this time! Gonna use it until it really dies off for good.

  • i just upgrade software from samsung skies for xcover 2710, amazing this small mobile also can upgrade,

  • WARNING! Video is NOT 320p@15fps. It's 160x128. Check the user manual for confirmation!

  • I want to buy this phone, i am from india. suggest me how can i have this

  • It must be yours with a deffect, I bought one today, slightly used and it needs a coin to open. I find this phone very very nice (and I've had Nexus 4, HTC One M7 and others). I even managed to sync my google contacts using samsung KIES. It would be nice to sync the calendar, if someone knows how please tell me.

  • how do you take videos off the phone to the computor,?and to the memory card..

  • while using third-party headphones?, ithink 3,5 jack is normal ,but headphones is this phone big problem

  • I checked this for you: Yes it does.

  • try volume keys when reading sms.

  • Hi, Is it possible to change font size in text's ? thx

  • Overall this is very rugged phone, but it has the weak spot - mic. It can get stuck with something pretty easy, is it water or particle of sand. Pretty dissapointing, when you try to call somebody, but he can't hear you. And it takes some time to clean the mic.

  • Is this phone having call auto reject under Call settings like B2100? please check & post

  • Is this phone having call auto reject under Call settings like B2100? please check & post

  • hi guys if anyone make skype work please send me a mail and explain me how to do. my mail is [email protected]

  • Very disapointed with this phone cannot tranfer apps to the sd card, phone has only 1gb of memory I bought a 32gb sd card and cannot transfer apps to it, also cannot turnoff answerphone phone rings a very limited time before going to answerphone ggrrrrr!!!! worst phone I have ever bought unless you can root it stay clear complete and utter waste of money

  • I think u should check your voice mail. if you have a voice mail and it was set to a short period of time, then it wont ring longer however you set it.. :)

  • This handset is quite good, reliable, tough built & you can be confident when you're outdoor. I've taken this handset to Africa (Kenyan Tour), Nepal & Jordan during my overseas tour as a soldier but never let you down. This is dust proof, weather proof and it can survive if you drop it accidently. Nice design and decent battery life. So I carry it into my bag in case if my smartphone doesn't work specially on my long journey.

  • I believe that the model plum ram (check on this model) is much better and cheaper than this, and it offer more features like, 3.5 jack, double sim, and a more tough and rugged body. I have it and is much more phone than what this offer.

  • Overall good phone, the only thing were it sucks is battery cover - it is not shock proof, if you drop your phone on hard surface, the battery cover will fall off and the battery as well as microSD card will fall out of it, it wasnt the case with B2100! It happens because closing mechanism is very weak - you can open the "dialing" lock with your fingernail, on B2100 I needed coin or other hard item to open it up! So, basically its waterproof and only partially shockproof, because whats the use of shockproofness if your phone falls apart and turns off after bump?

  • Nope!!

  • Is this phone good for messaging? tnx

  • Hello, I wan to ask if someone of you has experience with video shooting with this phone. How long is the max length of the video which can be shoot, are there any limitations for the length, can I used it as a camera and make a video for lets say 4 hours? Thank you

  • En Zedge, you find thousand themes, images, ringtones

  • Where I can find this phone screen themes?

  • hi... while on call can we able to send & read sms? Please reply.

  • It isn't a waterproof phone it is water resistant phone, therefore water can damage it and void the warranty. However they should be able to be in a meter of water for 1/2 hours if it is fully sealed. Nokia has a technology that makes a phone waterproof but haven't launched it yet

  • ting time to voicemail is set by network not the handset.

  • Nokia 3720 classic is better and less money .......

  • When I abusively drowned this phone, the phone got blue screen.. I dried it about 5 hours then it works normal till now If you set to 3g mode, the phone will last 5 days..but for 2g mode, it will last 7-9 days

  • Phone its not bad, however the fact that I can not make the phone ring longer drives me up the wall no matter how hard I try to pick up in time I have missed call after missed call, (and pls no silly comments like "hang aroungd your neck !)has any one been able to "extend" their ring tones ?

  • I bought this phone over a year ago for my husband who drop his phone frequently, hates touch-screenand loves mini torch on his phone. This isn't a perfect phone. Txting is different from other phones, alarm sucks, it accidentally unlocks itself in his pocket...but it's tough. He gets so annoyed with the phone sometimes and throws it against walls, concrete and it won't break. He accidentally dropped it in petrol and washed it thoroughly with detergent...and it still works. The speaker is excellent, and it receives calls well even in remote areas. So I'd say it's pretty impressive. Worth the money...especially for blokes who are rough with their phones.

  • Please tell me if you got farsi and arabic language thanks alot in advance

  • this phone is well prepared for someone whose looking old fashioned usage and durability..for me it's enough since all of the smartphones used to waste their battery life within 1 day..plus this x series doesn't exist in indonesia market which my phone becomes popular amongst my friends i'm just wondering how to set incoming sms saves in phone memory?

  • I got my b2710 wet and now it won't work. Samsung says warranty doesn't cover it. Why buy a so called waterproof phone? Last samsung I ever buy

  • Is it possible to put in Farsi

  • Can anyone tell me how to record calls in this mobile ?????

  • i have that phone for a year.. but today GPS didn't work, GPS can't lock sattelites.. :'( any body know why??

  • The only proble with this phone is, at least for me that it doesn't have 3.5 mm jack. Actually I don't even understand why does it have mp3-, and limited video-playing capabilities when it doesn't have a headphone jack. Even Sonim phones have jack, yeah it's 2.5 mm but still, they have one.

  • If you want to have best reception possible, go for it. I use this phone for outdoors activities, and believe me, I use it in limited places (few square meters somewhere in the forest) where I know that good mobile phones have 1 bar signal. It never disappoint me. If you need a phone for calls, sms, get gps position....don' hesitate to buy it

  • I am thinking of buying this phone.Should I buy it?

  • have had the unit for 15 days now, and it's preatty good, big buttons, etc. on the low side, the flash does turn on as mentioned and sometime i can't get calls or make a call until i restart the phone. i realized that this happens when it is connected true bluetooth, gps function is useless because you need gsm connection for map. i'll try different firmware maybe it will fix this issue. my firm b2710xxlc1 csc b2710oxalc1

  • Hi guys, Does Samsung updates the software for this phone frequently? I know it's been almost 2 years in the market, but support is an important thing to me. Thanks in advance!

  • hi everyone, I have the XCover 271 now 1 year and 8 days, the phone is great. I have skype, coreca forecast app, virtual radio app to listen to online radio from every corner of the world but here in sweden. I want to point few things I like about using this phone. First is the batery I amable to use 9 hours and 41 min. youtube and it opens even 2 hours full lenght movies for few seconds. skype chat gose 16 hour and 19 min. online radio only 10 hours and 13 min. but over all the phone is fast on net use, fast browser but no multy tasking. second is the keyboard, it is so easy and big enough for my big hands, I had Sonim Armer, it was very slow on everything I hatedit. the tirth and the best is the signal of the antena, it isbetter than any Nokia ever made and I have had many because I work in electronic shop, but I talk a lot, skype chatalotand like onlineradio.Irecomendthis phone for everyone.

  • I rly have only one question about this one. Is it shock resistant like b2100?

  • this looks identical to the SAMSUNG B2710(it is actually) And i just bought it, I saw someone drop it in boiling water than cooled it off and made a call! Also noise cancellation, sweet...

  • This"Item" is good enough for me! It`s a "Brick" and and easy to understand!

  • It support 16gb mmc

  • It support 16gb mmc

  • Up to how many Gb of memory card does this phone support? I need the answer rush ,Tk..

  • what is the difference between b2710 & b2710d

  • what is the difference between b2710 & b2710d

  • what is the difference between b2710 & b2710d

  • Pros:- AWESOME battery life, mine typically goes on charge every 7-10 days. Tough. Throwproof, dustproof, waterproof, beerproof. Cons:- Keypad lock does not stop the torch turning on in your pocket. Keypad lock does not stop the phone making emergency calls in your pocket. Recently it did it so often in a short period that the emergency services called me back to ensure everything was OK. To those reporting crash-happy phones: check the software version by typing *#1234# Mine's running SW B2710XXJJ1 and CSC B2710OXAJI6 which seems pretty stable.

  • Well.Bought this yesterday. The vibration doesn't work. Called Samsung and they said that I should bring it back to the store I bought it from so a technician can look at it. The thing is,that the vibration can only be activated through the profiles in the menu.Has anyone encountered a problem with the vibration? Is there some other option in the menu that I have not seen? Why does a technician have to see it?Clearly I should receive a new handset immediately and not go through all this hassle since it's not a software issue and the phone doesn't open for repair anyway. Also the light from the flashlight is white in the center and yellow on the outside. Can someone please check and see if the light on their handset is the same?Place it close to a wall and see the coloration of the emitted light? Please reply. Thank you

  • Well i bought this yesterday. Two things only. The first is that the lighting from the flashlight is white in the center and yellowish around! Not clear white!Asking Samsung, they said that's how it is..... and the second is that the vibration doesn't work! Yes,it doesn't work.I called them back and they said that I can return it and a technician will have a look at it.What's to look at?!!!! The vibration is an option that is used from the profile menu.It either works or doesn't work! It's not a battery problem, nor a connecting issue so there is no reason for it to be sent to a technician. You can see in a few seconds that the vibration is NOT activated and NOT working when it's chosen in the profile menu. So the vibration option, not working from the second I bought the phone, that should make it enough to give me a new handset, the minute I take it back. I've written a letter to Samsung about this issue and awaiting their reply on Monday.Let's see if they will hassle me for days before giving me a new handset.

  • My phone occasionally restarted at incoming call/sms or when using Trekbuddy or browsing files. That was while I had 16GB Toshiba card that I ordered from Ebay. About a month ago I got a 8GB class4 Transcend card from a local store. No trouble since.

  • Thanks for your honest opinion re the Xcover271. I was contemplating buying one as i working in a rough environment. will stick with my first option Nokia! Thanks.

  • righto i will start off by saying the body of the phone is extremely tough being able to withstand my 15.3 hand horse standing on it (yes i know not the biggest horse) and kicking it across the road when i last rode him. However the software is crap constantly freezing, restarting(useful when in the middle of talking to clients), forgetting to alert me to incoming calls and messages. And yes it was doing all this before the last horse related incident. this phone has just been a let down from the start. no more samsungs for me EVER AGAIN!

  • It's the most rugged phone you can have and fit in your pocket. All other tough phones will require a backpack or carabiner to hang form your trousers. I drove over it with my land cruiser and nothing happened. It is loud and clear. it is also water tight if you keep all rubber gaskets clean. The battery is really 4-5 day, thing. I was expecting much more from the big battery. All in all is a good second phone for the weekend, if you are concerned about your Iphone getting wet.

  • Has lots of issuses conserning memorycard. Does not want to read it. Now i have new one still same problems. With nokia you have no such problems so to me its very big dissapointment. at first it worked ok, but when using a bigger memorycard 8gb (needed more space for maps) then it had so many problems and finally it refused to turn on and off. it is good phone but the bugs concerning memory cards make it terrible. And i am talking about two phones not one. so i belive the issue is on every phone.

  • i had a b2710; it ,turning off very often i sended to repairing shop three times and the last time they sended back a new one wich after 3 hours begin to restart and turn off by himself now i'm changing the phone . To bad, i liked this phone but when you are waiting for a call and the phone is shuting down-not a pleasant situation, and many times when the phone was turned off i could turning on only after batery removal and place it back

  • Does this phone support Arabic Language?

  • yes, skype works very well...but witht eh back side camera, you cannot watch and show yourself at eh same time

  • Tha battery on this phone was terrible. It lasted a day at best and when it ran low, turned itself off 5 mins later

  • Am in Kenya.Where can i get this phone. Please ans me.Thanks in advance.

  • Awesome battery! In normal use (10-15 talks ina day) battery needs a charge after 4-5 days. Great!

  • may i ask if its possible to install skype into this phone? thank you for your help...

  • battery gone flat and now will not take charge, phone only about 2 months old. Any suggestions to rectify?

  • This phone gives the impression that it has two onboard speakers, I can only hear sound from the left side, is this normal? Thank you.

  • Yes I bought it unlocked from UK. Never had a problem with it. Works perfectly for over 2 years now on Rogers. Yours might be still locked to an UK provider. There are guys at flea markets that will unlock your device for 10-15$

  • This Xcover 271 is very good and working very fine....and also working internet is very fastly when i connect my laptop via Bluetooth... :-) ;-)...

  • try sonim www.sonimtech.com

  • samsung xcover 271 has gps. While 3350,even with xcover version doesnt have it.

  • cheaper version from sonim xp3300 force. not bad at all.

  • download and install trekbuddy and install a cms, it works great with this phone. shows speed, altitude, heading etc... even has mapping

  • c3350. I like the netfront 4.2 browser that faster than OPM 4.4. And can do googling for longer time than Nokia E6 Symbian Anna. C3350 also has nice speaker with great bass sound. No need ext. Antena to listen fav radio. Those are enough for me and i love it for outdor.

  • Not a good phone, for a tough phone the plastic screen protector breaks easily and so then does the screen, worst of all the screen cannot be replaced. I had the phone in my front pocket with a small set of keys, I had cause to climb under a trailer and whilst lying on a grassed surface on the phone the screen broke. Now you find out there is no warranty because this is considered physical abuse (tough phone remember) and worst of all you cannot retrieve date, contacts included because the screen is non replaceable. "caveo emptor"

  • Because of IP67. I wish the Xcover this stay with me for years. I hate switching to new mobile model every few years. My previous phone, Siemens ME45, has been more than 11 years with me (battery replaced four times).I wishing that this Samsung can endure something like it also. By the way, cover 271 is available for less than $125 here.

  • Why on earth, people buying this phone for 180 Euro?????

  • amasing phone....

  • Obviously there is E2730 that cover your needs for the amazing battery life. It's hard-wearing but not water-resistant, but cheap and simple, no fancy features. Although I would still go for 2710...

  • 1. when viewing a sms select "Options/Zoom" maybe this will help 2. I believe it will save sms on sim until it's full (mine can take 20) after that it saves them on phone. I don't know how what's the sms capacity of phone but I haven't hit the limit yet.

  • i have problems with SMS, 1. the SMS display is too small 2. SMS always saved in SIMcard even a try to move to phone storage, how to manage it? 3. everything are welldone, incredible materials and construction.

  • very easy to answer no it doesn't just to say it lol great little phone though would like to see m dad try and break this one with his phone track record.

  • Does the phone have a socket for an external antenna? That's what separates a toy from a tool. A ruggedised phone should be a TOOL. Using an external antenna with my A411 makes all the difference in low-signal spots.

  • What it does is for example: if I type in N it finds all names in your contact list that start with the letter N or have the letter N standing alone ie; Jim n Alice ... hope that helps ya.

  • 1 pro: Went swimming in the sea and the phone is still working. Made a few calls after, while it was still wet. People couldn't hear me clearly, said that it had a "crackling sound", but I sure could hear them perfectly. It all came back to normal when it dried. 1 con: The fkin characters are so small, even if I've set them to BIG, that I almost need glasses to read a message or see the callers ID. As a result of this, I've bought the C3350. Now I can finally see clearly what's written! Who'd say that a 2.2' would differ so much from a 2.0' screen...? It has no GPS, no 3G, but, darn! I'm liking it a lot!

  • Got this mobile yesterday. The first thing I have tested was the torch: Yes, like it was said before, it automatically turns off after 1 hour. Less than 1 battery bar was spent during the test.

  • @CountryGirl : the jack itself is in the form of a micro USB slot. So yes, you can charge it from your computer, but you will need a data cable (standard USB on one of the ends and micro on the other, to connect to the phone). As far as for the phone itself - it's AMAZING !!! I just love it.

  • Hi! Does the GPS ser comes with the current, max and medium speed feature built in, or is there a program to show these features? 10x

  • I'm thinking about buying this & wondering about the multifunction jack. What does the charger look like. ie: is it USB, can you charge it from the USB port on your computer, or a car usb generic charger or is it specialized? Also, what is the headset jack like? It says it's not 3.5, so what is it? I'd like to use the mp3 player part to plug into my car aux. jack. Also, can you use the phone as an mp3 player & still receive calls? Thanks for your help!

  • ITs possible to set as many alarms as you want, also possibe to set reminders in the calander.

  • Is it possible to set several alarm settings appointment reminders or only one alarm setting is possible?

  • can this mobile support applications like Skype?

  • ( *#03# down back )

  • most durable phone

  • this phone can listen fm radio wireless witout headphones attached ???

  • Does anyone know if the device REQUIRES a data plan if used for AT&T? Thanks in advance.

  • I have this same phone here in the USA but the GSM bands that you are using in your home country is only carried by a few companies in the USA. AT&T is one of the few GSM carries in the USA. Most of the other phones are CDMA on the Verizon network. I go through a small regional carrier that uses GSM and allows me to roam for free on AT&T when I leave my home network. Don't know why you couldn't use your Rogers card but maybe it was best you couldn't use it because of the roaming fees you would have paid when you got home. Otherwise, I absolutely love this phone. Great for the outdoors and wet weather.

  • I agree about the great battery life. For regular daily phone use (half a dozen calls, sms here and there, alarm set, a couple of peaks in calendar...) it easily lasts over a week. Last time I used Trekbuddy to record a GPS track while traveling with a car. After 16 hours of recording it still had 2/5 battery left. As for the LED, to turn it on one has to press the light button for one sec. If any other button is pressed during that time the light wouldn't switch on. I learned to be careful not to press the volume buttons when switching the LED on and I can hardly imagine situation where light button would be accidentally pressed for one second while all other buttons remain untouched. I never found it switched on in my pocket. I also read somewhere that the LED goes off after an hour.

  • It's true the torch often comes on in my pocket, but the phone certainly performs well in other areas. Rugged and tough but as commented on before, liable to freezing, and having to remove the battery to remedy this.

  • The torch button will be turned on in your pocket while hunting or walking in the wilderness. When you get to the cottage after a 20 km walk, the phone is very low on battery. If there is no electrical power in the cottage, then the 19 days battery live is of no use. Samsung should make it posibel to disable the torch button or make a top cover that protect the torch button so it will not be pressed "ON" in your pocket. All the rest; water resistant, w/ GPS, compass and radio are very usuable.

  • the phone is great but the internal speaker does go out and the cover lock wears out and they bounce whenever you drop them

  • Great phone for my trade however when I go to my contacts and type in the first letter, why do all the contacts with the letter appear? I only want the contacts to appear that start with this letter. This is really frustrating me.

  • Got this phone on 3,i love it. very cool

  • Brilliant handset. Battery life is never ending!!! Also waterproof and dust proof. Very highly reccomended.

  • Very durable handset that does not comprimise on features. I love the AMAZING battery life this hansdset offers. Best phone I have EVER had. Period. 100 percent

  • Which phone exactly were you referring to? Xcover 271 is IP67.

  • I got the phone back a week ago. As the authorized service told me they don't open this phones. If they can't fix them with software they replace it with new one. So I got a new one with up to date firmware. The only reason I had to wait four weeks is because they were waiting for new shipment from Samsung. While I was waiting for replacement I got familiar with GPS apps and now I like this phone even more. I'd recommend Trekbuddy and Wetravel

  • Unfortunatelly it's only IPX5 which means it can be exposed to rain but can't be submerged in water. And it costs just the same.

  • I saw much better and stronger phone than that. It's called Nomu LM870 and is on e-bay

  • Had been using this phone for about three weeks. I was getting familiar with gps java apps (Navigami, Trekbuddy, MGMaps). I made 1,2gb large MGMmap cache that contained 50.000 files. I then inserted the card in phone and it was reading it much longer than usual which I didn't find strange as it had to read 50.000 new files. So i set up alarm clock and went to sleep. In the morning phone didn't ring, was unresponsive and was still reading SD card. I switched it off took the SD card out and switched it back on. The start-up animation played out but nothing happened. The phone would reset its self every 5min without success. It's been more than two weeks since I took it to the dealer and am still waiting for it. Will report when I get it back.

  • Krusell Classic Leather Case for Samsung B2710

  • B2710. Love this phone but in the last 4 months since I got one I have dialed emergency services inadvertently at least 10 times. Even though the key pad is locked numbers like 911, 999, 112, 111 can still be dialed if something contacts the key pad whilst its in my pocket. It is driving me crazy not to mention our emergency services. Can this very annoying feature be disabled?

  • To Vagabond: Did you buy this phone unlocked? The reason I ask is because not so long ago I bought the similar Samsung B2100 unlocked from an online retailer in the UK and when I went to North America recently, the phone wouldn't boot up on a Rogers SIM, or FIDO (same people really). It only worked on an AT&T SIM when I was in the States.

  • This is good.

  • the battery should have been at least 2000mAh like E2370.. how long before is this officially out in the Philippines?

  • is this available in the Philippines?

  • Are there any good cases for this phone? I know it's strong and all but I'd like to extend it's luster by protecting it from scratches. I'm in Australia and I don't mind paying for shipping.

  • sir regarding your query, kindly check this site out -

  • Talktime for Samsung Xcover 271 mentioned in specifications at gsmarena.com are incorrect as it says 'Up to 19 h (2G)'. Samung sites says only 'up to 870 minutes (2G)' which should equal about 'Up to 14,5 h (2G)' (which is around 24% less than specified at gsmarena.com.

  • is it available in the philippines?

  • in indonesia u can get it from "bm" ...:)

  • Can I install any gps software (garmin, tom tom,iGo,nDrive.....) and how????

  • when this type announched in Indonesia ?

  • It is IP67 rated. I've watched a video review where it gets dropped from 2 metres and stomped on multiple times, sits in bottom of water tank for 30 mins, and spends some time revolving in a concrete mixer of sand. Also, gets run over by a construction loader and survives.

  • When this model will be avaliable in Brasil?

  • Is there any weather app like accuweather available for the Samsung 271?

  • hi there...how much are you selling yours? i work in makati and i live in paranaque city. thanks.

  • i think its not yet available in the phils but i have an extra unit for this came from abroad if you want, contact me just add @yahoo in my nickname, excellent water proof phone.

  • Saw this phone in the shop - terribly big, its huge! So unless you need GPS then B2100 is better alternative for around half the price ;)

  • You might find you have to talk to you're service provider as this is generally handled by them (bar some Nokia handsets)

  • hi all, can anyone help with extending the ring on this phone. It doesn't give me long to answer the phone!!

  • A good phone to be with you. Not Easy to use, but you can trust it. (-) 1. Dairy (planner): -Adding events +alarm, needs to change Time in three places (must work with one-click-change). -When Alarm occurs, It doesn't dissappears, even I press Red Button. 2. Stop ringing - Not possible to mute ringing until I answer (the only possibility is to make ring-volume to zerro or cancel). Shtt. 3. Display. It's real sucks in outdoor environment. IMPOSSIBLE to see Anything, if you want to navigate google maps in sunny day. A real Explorer MUST be equiped with Real outdoor display capability. 4. Not possible to use wired earphone, it stops your phone called 'waterproof'. (+) 1. Battery lasts a little bit longer than a week (no videos, no photos, no web-browsing, but 30 minutes google-maps included). 2. Good laud-speaker (handsfree). (*) After one-day struggle I got my Contacts synchronised with (from) my Nokia. (Nokia -> MS-Outlook --> Samsung-Kyes -> Sams.Phone) (*) I ant to kick ass to samsumg programmers and send them to learn from Motorola and Nokia, how to make Good Software! --It's regarding to the lack of 'human engineering' J'pp:)

  • Most definitely

  • hi everyone... just a quick one, is this phone available here in the Philippines? Specifically Metro Manila. If yes, where? thanks. :-)

  • sms memory ??? it's important for me

  • Samsung should create a phone which is a cross between this and the E2370; IP67 rated toughness and at least 2000mAh. It will blow everyone who are in this type of market.

  • This is IP67, the most water, shoc, dust resistent

  • Hey guyz i was just wondering if anyone could tell me if this phone is shock and water resistant? Thnx

  • Hi! I got this phone for me. First impressions, that not enough customisations possible. Are here some alternative softwares available? Cold someone tell me at least 'Service menu code' ? Tnx in advance,,

  • i like this phone, but not available in asia untill i tired waiting..now i use other phone, nah!

  • SAMSUNG, this could become your BESTSELLER in ASIAN countries, since most users are not ready yet for touch phones in ASIAN countries. PLS hurry up production and distribution. WIPE OUT nokia in sales.

  • it's 3g

  • Samsung should create a dual-sim tough phone with better battery than the E2370. Please, SAMSUNG you can definitely do it. I don't care if it will be big or bulky, or both. It will be a sure hit!

  • how many contacts can you have in the phonebook???

  • Hi. Is it possible to download maps (topographic,...) and install them to phone. I want to know how the GPS works if you are out of reach of mobile operator. If i understand the google maps will not load if you have no signal. So if you are outdoor (in mountains) the GPS will have no use.

  • Charged it over a week ago. Two bars are gone, 3 more to go. Amazing battery life. Love it

  • I got an iPod Touch instead :D

  • Ordered this phone from play.com and have been using it for about 2weeks. This phone is amazing. I only use it for calls and texts so the battery lasts me just over a week. This is a solid phone and on top of that the features are cool too. You get Facebook, Twitter, Msn Messenger already pre-loaded on the phone & setup as standard shortcuts. You can can the font and style of the writing which I think is brilliant rather than just having the boring writing style for nokia. Only downside is that the alarm could be avbit louder on the highest volume it sounds dull. The Ringing tones & message tones on the other hand seem much louder. You can insert a micro sd card not that I have. I use this to do basic things and I am well pleased with it. Well Done Samsung. Additional Note: If you want a really good Mp3 player settle for the Samsung YP-P3 the best lisening experience (buy good headphones) Thanks for reading.

  • Just got this phone from UK. Works great on Rogers in Canada. Good device for my job in the woods. Hope to have it around for years.

  • Can it play videos on youtube? is it 3g?

  • It may need headphones connected to act as an antenna.

  • Phone is great, but can not find FM radio. Any help ?

  • this is what adventurer want. but when samsung launched this in indonesia??

  • Dupas, 2000mAH battery too big than 1300mAH. No chance

  • My phone is also great, but the C button would be wery nice! In the next firmware update???

  • Hi Dorj, I normally do that because I like batteries that have a latge capacity then the standard, I say if it fits I don't see if theres a problem is. But try to make sure the volts is the same the mAh don't matter & let me know if it does coz I will order one also. Cheers.

  • Yum, I love orgies with goldfish

  • I'm hoping that in the near future Samsung would come out with a rugged DUAL sim quadband GSM/UMTS mobile phone packed with all the features of this Xcover 271. I'm agree to that!

  • Amaze gps greath work in Xcover 271

  • Philippines is Waiting for you.... SAMSUNG PLS... Make it available in my country!!!

  • You can install Java GPS aplications like TrekBuddy, WeTravel, I found Navigami the best solution for me (all mentioned are free). Only problem - there is no 'clear' buton in Java aplications in numerical fields - not possible to change some settings. Hopefuly Samsung will fix this in the future.

  • Can i switch the battery's from Samsung E2370 to xcover 271? because e2370 version battery 2000mAh.

  • samsung ruggedised. hav not droped it in water yet.it one of he best phone samsung has manufactured

  • Can somebody tell me what is reqiured to use it as a navigator? Software ? cost ? How is the quality/funktion of the navigator commpared to a single navigator ?

  • this phone was designed for human being...specially for real man and not for dwarfs. SMS receipt notifications in INBOX is just right because the network system is just replying to your SMS. Even in the email system like MS Outlook and IBM Lotus Notes send email receipt/read notifications to INBOX.

  • data cable of Nokia 5130 is same it can be used , i m using it

  • The weight is much 115g its heavy, why the hell SMS delivery reports in inbox ,in that case i cant find any option to have delivery reports in separate folder feature wise 3g is good

  • The phone will be out in the Philippines in Movember. Stop asking 1000000 times the same question! Now just be patient

  • When will this be out in the Philippines? Has it been out in other Asian countries? Please reply Im thinking about getting an ipod nano touch screen instead this Christmas and an LED MINI maglite 2AA

  • The only reasonable way to sync it to Mac is using your Google account. I do this way and it works. Also you can use DUN and file transfer via BT.

  • Hello, did you find out if its possible to use the GPS for logging tracks, I want to use it for Biking, skiing. I don`t find any answers in the reviews... Greetings Roel

  • yes, it can get from GPS signal like every other GPS phone - longitude, latitude and altitude ;)

  • Got it back few days ago. Now it has newer firmware in which, so now there is no problems with memory :) Also put TrekBuddy software on it, and throug MobileAtlasConverter downloaded maps. It finds GPS signal even in room in a 10-20sec! I like this phone more and more :) And few times it fall on ground in dirty snow - took it inside, washed under water and looks like new :) Its nice, that you can wash your phone if it gots dirty :D

  • is this phone have an altimeter?? theres no in specifications?

  • btw, Dorro and JCB has already a rugged dual sim mobile phone. here it is...

  • had the chance to fiddle this phone again side by side with B2100 @ Orange shop yesterday and WOW i was shocked how bad the B2100 keypad is! the keypad of B2710 or X271 Xcover is simply fantastic!

  • same here, if this phone had all the features it has at the moment plus dual phone capabalities. i would have one by now.

  • I get this phone almost a month, it's smooth working at the beginning, but after upgrade firmware from server, got a malfunction on CALL STATUS TONES, while making a call and it's connected but there're no signal tone anymore --> pls help

  • Agreed, I'm also holding out for a dual sim rugged phone, give me something like one but with dual standby and you'd have my money in a heartbeat.

  • Had the chance to fiddle this phone @ O2 shop yesterday. It's a lot bulkier than the B2100 and E1130 but this has the best keypad among the 3 rugged Samsungs I've used/tested. Keypad is very responsive and very nice to text compared to all other rugged phones. Although LCD is small, it is very nice because of high resolution. Downside of this phone is no built-in FM radio antenna. I don't understand why Samsung used the built-in FM antenna on E2152 but this one it doesn't have. Considering that this phone is an outdoor phone, built-in FM antenna is a MUST.

  • I'm hoping that in the near future Samsung would come out with a rugged DUAL sim quadband GSM/UMTS mobile phone packed with all the features of this Xcover 271.

  • Nokia 3720 has bad network reception!Beware!

  • Can anyone provide some experiences regarding the software and its stability? My experience is that Nokia phones just work much better because the software is more stable and often also easier to use. That would probably make the Nokia 3720 a better choice for me, but I really like the battery life and IP67 rating of this Samsung. Any thoughts? Thanks!

  • If this is out in Indonesia will it also be out here in the Philippines? I hope I can get myself one as a Christmas present. Im looking forward to its torch, compass, GPS and altimeter feature. My samsung b2100 has been very reliable and I hope this is better.

  • it should be same as what you seen here in gsmarena if in case it's different it's not ginuine? or means from china. or i dont know else why?

  • Thank you, now I realize that the cable is a micro usb.

  • the blackberry 9700 daa cable im using and it works ,allso the samsung 8510 cable works too.

  • Does anybody knows where I can find Data/Charging usb cable for this mobile?

  • Will I be able to download a chess game to the 2710? Have seen lots of games I could download but not chess. Maybe chess is to complicated and the memory would have to be massive?

  • xcover 271 is the same B2710 - they are available in two color choices - Noir Black and metallic orange.

  • Are there different models of the 2710 then? Am a bit confused as have seen 2710 but with different letters in the title and they seem to have different screen sizes. How good is the acces to the net? Many thanks for any info.

  • got it on tuesday evening - everything liked - the sound is clear and good, ringtone also loud, keys good - awesome phone for that price! :) but yesterday it hang up - said no memory and shut down. removed/reinserted battery and it worked, but in the morning the same - and it turned off. now its just turning on, shows samsung logo for 5 mins, then asks pin code, then shows five mins the second samsung logo and restarts :( on monday will go back to shop..

  • yes, it UK version. the seller import this phone from there. I dunno exacty, it maight be UK version or France version. But, Europe version not Indonesian version..

  • @ngoplah... the unit u've just bought from samsung UK,not officially for indonesia market right?

  • thanks alot for link to convince me about this phone :D :shakehand:  FYI, i've just try this phone put inside a glass of water... and after that i drop it on concrate... still work, awesome...

  • yeahh man that video can answer really your questions about how strong is that mobile!!! ha ha ha ha ha..

  • ma man,you can check as well the brothers Russians how they check that mobile for shock and water-resistance!!! ha ha ha...I still fill sorry for mine and dont want to put it in such a ' survivor' ;-)))

  • ma man,I don't know what you are not happy with the battery ,but with me is already 5 days of usage and still have 2 lines to go down,so I suppose it will last at least a week with normal usage of talking,SMS and torch on,and this is only 3 or 4-th charging since I have it from not much long ago!!

  • @bro roader. I got this phone from very small shop at itc roxy. may can you imagine, one store at itc roxy... then it divide into another 3 small store.. :D :hammer: he has online store as well, link as follow: another seller: happy hunting :D

  • to all B2710 users... i just want to ask about the phone speaker. is it loud & clear or just normal sound quality???

  • Hello, I'm from Indonesia I've got this phone yesterday.. still doubting shock resistant. Overall, casing is more plastic (like normal phone) not like 2100 (. IMHO I think the specification maybe correct, they didnt put MIL-STD 810F. Dimension is big, that I like.. Looks good in hand TFT sreen is nice, camera is OK. Got new feature (GPS, compass), but not for shock resistant . CMIIW

  • As the quality of the conversation? Is the conversation is loud and clear?

  • damm damm samsung . why the hell didnt you put 2000mah battery in this like the previous 2G xcover . this has only 1300 mah battery which lasts only 9-10 hours . where as the previous xcover easily gives me around 18-19 hours continuous talktime ......so basically i will stick to previous xcover as i dont need 3g or facebook and twitter apps , neither am i gonna submerge my fone in water for more than 10 mins on purpose . so i suggest for half the price of this phone , go for the previous xcover which has super super battery power than this !!

  • and this phone got also color `metal orange`!

  • simply GPS uses satelites for discovering position. but it can take 1-5 minutes to get location, so for it is Assisted GPS - it gets approximate location from cell phone towers, so it can detect with accurancy 500m-2000 meters where phone is located, then look for satelites faster, because phone now knows what satellites are visible in sky in that position - so it can faster get data from those satellites. i down know how it is with this phone, but in windows mobile i had a program which downloaded sattelite current location for a week where they exactly will be, so it could connect to GPS satellites in less than a minute :)

  • i think IP and mil std 810 are different.IP certify protection against dust and water, while mil std certify protection against drop, extreme temperature, humidity.so,IP 67 certified doesnt mean the phone drop proof

  • This is waterproof (rather than water resistant like the B2700) and dust proof.

  • No. B2710 is still tougher because it is 1ngress Protection 67 certified. B2100 has IP57. They might have just forgotten to put the military standard because we already know it has a high IP certification.

  • is this device shock and drop proof as b2100?i dont see b2710 has MIL-STD 810f like the b2100.does it mean b2100 tougher than b2710?

  • just a quick question....is this phone already available in the philippines? in manila? i think i saw one but it goes under a different model name... thanks.

  • this phone cost only £107 in UK including delivery @ handtec.co.uk

  • There is two modes I believe, GPS and Assisted GPS, the later adjusts the position using cell-tower triangulation.

  • cnt wait... plz... bring it hir... =(

  • hi everybody.. the question i have for the owners is about gps. every time that you use the gps you have to be connected on gprs and through this get locations ,or you can locate for free..i need help because i have heard both of these opinions and i'm confused.. thank you

  • hi all.I have that phone already 2 days and after the first charging the battery is down only with one line after 36 hours of using(new mobile-imagine how!) It is promising a long life battery on a first look. So the only one thing I notice is that that I cannot find where is that altimeter, pedometer is here, but alti-one I do not see!!!I had samsung 2100 and comparing the menus I find slide differences some for good, some worst but you cannot judge,it is not something big.Better coulors than 2100 and bigger, but lighter on weight! For almost 2 days I am having nothing wrong with it i hope it stays like that, price in Cyprus where I am is 156 Euro,so it is OK. hope that was usefull if you have questions-ask,battery is 1300Amph

  • This is the most useful phone I have ever heard of. I hope it's better than samsung marine explorer and please release it in asia! I love the idea of having a phone that's shock/waterproof with gps, flashlight, compass, altimeter and pedometer. But it wouldve been better if they included a SOLAR PANEL!!! That's a true outdoor phone.

  • You could not find a negative, thats awsome! You are hitting below the belt, if you want to sync your phone with a MAC then buy an iphone seriously!

  • Further to my previous, I have been doing some battery testing and the torch has an hour cut-off so even if it did come on accidently it would switch off after an hour :-) This phone is really growing on me. Great battery life, GPS locks on and works. Despite the small screen Google maps is useable. I have also been experimenting with TrekBuddy which enables you to load your own maps locally to the phone and the GPS will show you your position. A calibrated map will give you a GBOS grid reference as well. I have bought a 16Gb memory card and this works fine.

  • this modile have in UAE.please tall me,i want to bay this phone.

  • IP57 means: Ingress Protection 5-Limited protection against dust , 7-Protected against the effects of immersion in water to depth between 15 cm and 1 meter. And IP67: 6-Protected from dust, 7-Protected against the effects of immersion in water to depth between 15 cm and 1 meter

  • what is the different with b2100 in term of ruggness?ot says that x cover is IP 67 but i dont see any different with b2100 which IP 57.

  • Can't wait for this badass phone to hit the antarctic market - as soon it does, im sure a lot of people will move there. Plz don't let us wait 2long :)

  • i have siemens m75, soner c702, nokia 3720, and i want this phone. please come to indonesia soon!!!

  • Please oh please launch this phone in the Philippines! I waited for the release of Samsung b2700 here in Philippines which has similar features to this but unfortunately they didn't. I don't want to be disappointed this time and am expecting its release here. I dont want to experience the bad feeling Ive felt when b2700 wasnt released so Samsung please release it here in PHILIPPINES. I think that this is the most useful phone ever because of the: flashlight(most useful feature ever) radio, 2mp camera, GPS (WOW), COMPASS, PEDOMETER, ALTIMETER. Don't forget the facebook and twitter apps!

  • I've had this for four days now and I'm very satisfied with it. It's loaded with features which even surpasses some "smart phones" :) The only negative thing is that the battery has changed from 2000mAh to 1300mAh since the last Xcover 2G.

  • philippines is waiting for you samsung b2710.............i waited for b2700 before but sadly they only sold b2100 here :(( the icing on the cake is the compass, altimeter, gps, ang google maps which b2100 lacks. although im proud i still bought myself a b2100 because of its nifty features such as flashlight, radio and camera. but i honestly believe that this samsung b2710 will have been a hit here if would be sold sooner!!!!!!!!!!! don't forget the philippines!

  • I have had this phone about a week and bought it as a rugged phone that I could carry with me when running / trekking. In my opinion the Achilles heel of this phone is the flashlight switch. This phone will switch on in your pack, the button to activate the flashlight sits proud of the housing and all it takes is two seconds of very light pressure before the light is on draining your battery. Once on you have to click the switch again to turn it off. There does not appear to be anyway of locking this switch. So far it has switched on in my waist pack. In my opinion this is a serious design fault and I wish I had not wasted my money on it. I am now considering melting away part of the switch so that it does not sit proud!

  • Bluetooth? Can not connect with Mac. My main reason for bying this phone is to backup my adressbook on my Mac. does not work???!!!.Support ,upgrade, info from SAMSUNG is Zero. My Phone is GT-B2710. Suppose to be same as xcover 271,but SAMSUNG has NO phone called GT-B2710 at their website??? Kunta

  • New Zealand is a third world country also wanting this phone..... please to be coming here

  • good evening sir may i want information for this hanset!plz traying to help . my quetion is this handset support to card 1of the cdma + other gsm . so many hope with u . thank u

  • are there available apps to use its gps? like those sports tracker for nokia where you can log your workout because if there are i will definitely buy this to log my bike workout. currently im using my samsung galaxy spica to log my bike workouts

  • come to indonesia please...........

  • I´ve now had the phone for 6 hours and I will try to tell you a bit about it. Its a big leap forward in terms of software and hardware compared to the old 2700. The phone feels very solid and have great buttons. The hardware: - Far superior screen , higher resolution and scratch resistant glass. - Keyboard have an excellent feel and the side buttons is have better tactile feel - Flashlight is wider in angle and the same amount of light - Better battery - Camera is actually semi-useful (not expected that), although the movie feature is probably nothing that will win you and Oscar. The software: -The browser thats now based on WebKit - E-mail client works with gmail (2100 was bugged in that way) - Facebook app - Twitter app - Google maps that works really good All in all a great upgrade and with the all the Internet software loaded into the phone, I honestly feel that I have no need for a "smartphone".

  • cant' wait...

  • Sri Lanka is waiting 4 you..

  • Video of device the one in the NET

  • xcover 271 is outdoor phone,if your nokia put into the water,i am really sure your nokia will be finished and you used it as children toy.

  • It's 9h talk time not 19!

  • Does it support 3rd party apps, no comments on it by samsung customer care, however mostly phones support gMAP, as it depends upon OS AND java version, what abt this XCOVER?

  • samsung outdoor lover waiting u u u to come to mycountry...i hope that sooner can be launch at indonesia.....

  • yeah, it's really gokil! sounds like a bulletproof phone

  • Winge winge winge everyone has the right to say what they want on this sight they need to know when the phone will be launched like a nasa space shuttle

  • How can I get a cord to upload photos to my pc?

  • How can I acquire a cord to upload photos from b2 100 edge quaid...

  • I have B2700 for 3 years and is a very good phone, and this will be my next phone. Is allmost the same with B2700.

  • im still using samsung b2100,..but i think this phone more stronger than b2100

  • Could you just stop with opiniouns like: I hope it will be launched soon in.... It is thoughtless !

  • i used nokia 3720, but i think Samsung Xcover 271 is better

  • definitely the phone that i've been waiting for. a tough phone. it will be better if it also smart phone. i hope it will be launch in indonesia.

  • how is the day

  • 3720 classic is a better choice

  • Ok so it is meant to be a tough phone, ideal for the 'active' types, however a 2" screen does seem a bit small for having GPS, and if it is designed for active types, why install google maps, surely people are going to be possibly out of a signal area using this phone on hikes etc, so onboard/ offline maps would have made more sense.

  • to bulky for me, I wonder if it has no more than 16 mm thick and no more than 50 mm wide..

  • 180e ???? no way ,,, tooooo expensiveee

  • - IP67 certified - dust and water proof - not resistant so that why it cost so much...

  • where is it available?

  • Indonesia is waiting...

  • it's already available

  • it needs a solar charger back to make it a complete outdoor phone...

  • 2000 mAh?! Stop dreaming!

  • Gokhill.. I'll wait for this one.

  • It's certainly not worth. Is it really costs that much? 180 euro..????

  • It is too steeply priced for the product. Not worth that money.

  • Wtf? My 3 years old Nokia 6120c is better and cheaper (yeah, 3 years ago it was cheaper than this) Whats wrong with samsung?

  • Neat design. But price is too steep at 180 euro, should have been around 130 euro, with a 3.5mm jack.

  • excelent cell phone samsung carry on with rugged and highly outdoor friendly cell phones with wireless fm radio.and 2000mAh battery back up

  • Indonesia wait samsung B2710.....

  • how to download and install the m2710 applications

  • i hope next month will officially launching in Indonesia...

  • I agree Samsung is really geing aggressive in catering to the tough phone market and if they do release this one it's gonna be a feat no other major cellphone brand has done yet.. But please release E2370 first to make me more excited as I have been waiting for it since the announcement at the MWC.. Go samsung way to go

  • Can't hardly wait for this phone, i hope it will be available for indonesian market...

  • Indonesia waiting for this phone...adventurer!!!

  • indonesia's waiting 4 you...

  • always a nokia fan . my last 3 phones were nokia .but i think i am going to change my mind .

  • my next phone here too . hey nokia where did you hide ?

  • Wow..IP-67 will be great! But i don't like the model so much..it is too 'stylish'. i prefer the model with sharp and muscle one. But, nice job samsung!i'll wait this to be my next phone !

  • this is a mixphone with 3g

  • Samsung makes the great "bodywork", but inside... Please, fire programmers who makes ugly and unusable interface for such nice "bodies"!!! And hire a couple of ones from Nokia, and the product will be unbeatable on the market!

  • ip67!!!...nice job samsung,i hope it's bugs-free...and i really really hope it will be launch in Indonesia, there are many ruggedphone fans in here :D

  • wow..ip67? i hope it'll be tougher than sonim xp3...

  • Samsung is very aggressive in cell phone market excelent cell phone bater than B2100 Marine if it is shock and temperature resistant . gooddddddddddddddd

  • I hope this will be better than b2100 marine

  • this is a one tough phone

  • Finally a new tough/water resistant phone with decent specs and good battery. Looks interesting!

  • already using b2100, it has better specifications.

  • very poor multimedia...

  • Another piece of aggresive marketing by samsung

  • Not bad at all! At last a decent display, minimal passable camera and flashlight in one tough unit! Keep up the good work, Samsung!:)Seems like I've found myself my next phone.

  • this is a cool phone
