Siemens AF51 - User Reviews

  • very nice for a lady..but...after 1 year I can tell you that 1. the phone shuts down inexplicably... 2. battery life poor...a maximum of 2 days in light exploitatition-conditions, worsening when vibration on and secondary display on 3 strange behaviour in sms receiving- cannot find it, cannot get rid of the message roll-up on the main screen 4. other minor problems...

  • my memory hP was broken how i could fix it?

  • Q: How can I change language from Chinese to English for text entry for Address & Phone directories? I bought AF51 as a simple unlocked phone for travel in Europe, and have used it for 4-5 years in England, Ireland, Italy, France & Austria with cheap local SIM cards. Began using as only cell phone in US & Europe for cheap T-Mobile prepaid service about 3 years ago. Because it's beginning to show wear & lose batter power, I purchased another AF51 via eBay from Hong Kong. It arrived with Chinese SIM card, and programed only in Chinese language. I've changed language preference in Setup > Display > Language and > Text Input, but I still can't eliminate the T9 text entry at header when entering new addresses and phone entries. When I use number keyboard it only gives me Chinese characters to enter. I'm seeking help via eBay seller, and have read manual, without success. Help if you can. Thanks, Grant D

  • It's a great phone. You say that it shuts down whenever it wants-this is not true for my AF51.I used it for an year and it hasn't done that even once.I think that for this phone the battery is good-I was recharching the phone every 5-6 days, which is normal for me.

  • question : does any one know how can i get back the vibration? vibration mode just went ! no reason for it ! plz reply me on zamin_vatan@yahoo ..my cell phone keep shtuing off when ever ot lkes ! the screen keeps freezing for no reason.. and...and...

  • bad battery...two hours only..

  • i have 3 problems about this phone. it keeps shuting off for no reason. people sends me a text of a picture i can't reteive it. the manuel is not helpful at all. this phone is garbage.the sad part is theres no one to contact in the usa about it. thanks for nothing.

  • I like the compact and smart design. Very simple, stylish phone.. but.. two problems. 1)it sometimes shuts off for no apparent reason when I'm for ex. saving phone numbers. 2)I set the ringtone on highest volume and it's very loud. But when it rings (sandwich closed) it's like the speaker is covered and you barely can hear it ringing. (missed a lot of calls this way)

  • I have 2 problems with my new AF51: 1)sometimes suddenly shut down during receiv & saving phonebook from others cell 2)If battery meters low, the time on 2nd display doesn't change until open & close the phone How about yours?

  • I have a Siemens AF51 ad I am very pleased of his performance and style. The batery lasts 2 days if u keep the GPRS activated and dinamic light set to wave/blink for any new action. Charge the battery with phone switched off for at least 2H. U will see the diference.

  • At this price you should expect a simple and functional phone but you'll get an complicated and stupid menu, weak battery, unstable software! We are waiting apologies Siemens!

  • The incoming sms notification sound is truly annoying. Can someone PLEASE, tell me how to shut it off without doing that for all rings and tones at the same time? FX

  • The is just fanciful.it lacks basic functions.the battery is weak.

  • Bought this phone 2 months ago. Have been considerin sellin it from day two... Maybe it is pretty, copact n all, but as far as functionality and solidity go, it's a definite no-no! The menu is tacky n complicated, the ringtones suck big time n the wallpapers are horrid! The only nice feature is the LED light and maybe the design - sweet n smart. Don't get misled by its deceptive looks, get somethin more sturdy n user-friendly, like Nokia, for example :)

  • weak signal?..bad batteries? you're unlucky my friend mine AF51 is as good as heaven the only weakness maybe it likely shutting down for no reason

  • The operation system lacks basic functions like omitting the initial Aircraft Check proceedure or on/off audio music. I wanted a basic phone but would not recommend AF51.

  • Forgot to mention that the antenna is very weak, have to wander around trying to get signal when in my office, something I never did with my A55. The AF51 just can seem to get good signal once your inside a building.

  • Bought this phone last week for US$75.00. Not a great phone at all compared to my trusty Siemens A55! Loved the A55, lasted me three years. Have had the AF51 for a week and: it keeps shutting down for no reason, battery lasts about 28 hours (thats on standby with no talking, just ten sms's). Apart from this, its an attracctive phone and fun to use. Just wish it were more reliable and the battery didnt die after such a short time even when I'm not really using the phone!

  • How dare they sell that for $150??

  • With 49 euro, what you expect from AF 51?. It's small... like the price. You need bluetooth, MP3 player, camera.... then you should buy Sony Ericsson W880i!

  • Dont buy this phone. I bought it just 2 month the lcd is blank. it take much time to repair it

  • i'll buy this thing.....

  • This phone is really good but lime most Siemens phones, the battery charge doesn't last. That's something that Siemens should really look at.

  • Design exactly what I have always been looking for BUT the operating program is a disaster. Phone shuts down arbitarily. Stalls after trying to enter or delete more than 6 entries. Battery life less than 5 hrs. Sent detailed letter of complaint to Siemens Thailand and Siemens Germany last year but NEVER received any form of response. This phone is definitely NOT a good choice.

  • *I just cannot recommend it to anyone.

  • According to functionality, I have really no complaints about it; however, the battery lasts about 24-36 hours only, nevermind if it stays in standby mode or not. Because of such a big fault from siemens, I just recommend it to anyone.

  • I've been using this phone 6 months now. Absolutely no problems to report. No stalls or other firmware bugs at all. Everything works brilliantly and as it should. Yes, it's really just an updated CF62, which is exactly what I wanted. It has a solid feel to it and a unique design. Everybody notices the glowing blue LED, it's very pimp. It's a pleasure to use.

  • Is it toooo slow ??

  • Great design but zero minus for performance. System shuts down without warning and stalls at least once every 3 days. Operating program is very faulty. Took to Siemens here in Thailand for servicing but afterwards SAME problems kept occuring. Can not believe that a quality name like Siemens would produce a high quality designed mobile and then install a faulty operating system. Yes, it is a cheap phone but Siemens forgot to warn that cheap also means low quality performance. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED

  • I think the phone is simple a cute. its a girls phone, what more? its light and small to handle. I love it and recommend it for those who want simple phones.

  • this phone is like a phone from cave man days, siemens i think its very old and out dated lille fetures and not good looking they should close douwn and sell dounuts instead..

  • mmm at the beginning I was crazy for having one.. but when I tryed it on the store i was very dissapointed. it has a VERY low interface and lacks of irda. very poor in functions... very boring. u cant use the same usb cable of the other siemens on this one, so u cant upload ringtones and stuff... i hope siemens relase a AF51 version with the c65's interface (a CF51 maybe ) lol

  • handset is as same as lgu880.........naah its boring pathetic

  • I love this phone. The design is very wonderful, price of this phone is very cheap. The screen is good, the battery isn't bad. No Mp3 and Irda - what a pity!

  • Had it for 1 hour so I didn't really test it thoroughly. Although I do love the design (and that blue light surrounding the exterior of the phone when a call or a text message is recieved, is amazing, awesome really) the screen display is not too good, the colors are limited, the menu looks a bit cheap (which is unerstandable for an A series and for the price which is not at all high), if you don't mind these kind of things and just want it simple then I guess the phone will be perfect for you. if on the other hand you do mind about screen display and all you might want to ask to turn it on and play around with the menus and feautures a bit, at the shop before you buy it. That would've saved me a trip home and then back to the shop had i tried it at the shop I wouldnt've bought it, I eneded up exchanging it for samsung x160. Again: if you are not too bothered with things like screen display appearance, the phone is very good

  • No it does not have USB, only serial cable capable. Shame.

  • It`s a nice phone it`s very light and small it can fit anywere and even it`s not very performant it has nice colours and infrared my opinion is that this siemens it`s a girl phone and it`s very nice...

  • just kdiding, i see that it has alarms. does it have USB? and can you hang little cell phone charms on it?

  • Question: does it have a USB port and are there alarms in the organizer part of it? thanks.

  • Great looking design. Small and compact. BUT you can not change the installed screen saver and limited number of ring tones. Worst part is that the operating program stalls at least every other day - only solution is to restart the phone. Very surprise that Siemens would sell such an unstable model. NOT recommended.

  • I have had this phone (CX65)for 18 months now. I am going to change it for a Siemens AF51. Reasons? The CX65 is too big, has a big display which I do never use, has a camera which I do never use (what do you do with the pictures aniway? you have to buy a USB cable to transfer them to your computer, and then you realize that they are low quality pictures which can not compare with the pictures of a digital camera.. same for the videoclips). It is not at all good looking. Why do I choose AF51? It SMALL, good looking, and cheap... (you can have it for 49 euros). It's a classical phone, with no features. Features where invented to make you pay a lot of money for things you don't need. A phone is a phone, to talk with it. Do you really go to Internet with your phone? It's expensive, slow... A computer does that much better. This is my opinion. What do you think?

  • I have this phone in my posession for a couple of weeks now, and I don't really have any complaints. If you want a phone with a lot of features, you shouldn't buy the Siemens AF51, but if you're into a small simple phone with a special design, this phone is recommendable. As already said above, this phone doesn't has many features. You can call and send SMS messages with it ofcourse, and also MMS. Further it has some nice organiser functions and a handy unit converter, but that's about it. This is a nice phone, is my experience so far. The only disadvantage I could come up with at the moment is that when you are recharging the battery, the external display stays dark, so you hardly can't see how far along the battery is at recharging.

  • hmm it seems a lot like the M55, but i'm interested. i like the unique design.

  • Would this phone work with a C55 USB charger? As on this page ??

  • Would this phone work with a C55 USB charger? As on this page ?? USB Charger

  • the phone is simple(typical for most siemens) but the design is unique

  • I'm currently using this phone and it's quite nice, I must say! I know it lacks many, many things but what did you expect from A series?? It's nice for its price...

  • no camera either

  • the scrin sucks!!! its soooo small

  • This is a CF62! Same Design and Spec.

  • nice design but the spec..very bad..no bluetooth, no IR..better spend some of the extra cash on a better phone. quite disappointed..

  • Looks pretty good; I agree the internal display could be larger.

  • The outlook design is good! For an A-Series phone, we cannot have more wants. It can compete with Nokia 6060 if it is released now.

  • Great design but the inside display could have been a little bit bigger. Of course its technology is nothing more than there always used to be in the A-class. Nevertheless, I'm convinced BenQ-Mobile's going to get Siemens out of the crisis.
