I purchased my Motorola Defy XT535 about 3 Years ago. As I am in the Emergency Services I wanted a waterproof phone, and I could not find many to choose from. However somehow I discovered the Motorola Defy XT535. when I picked it up the hassles began. First the car Bluetooth would not connect with it. So back to Motorola it went. I was told there was nothing wrong with it. Eventually I did get it to work 75%. For using it as a Phone it is good, But as a camera, out of ten, I would rate it as +1. Using the Browser it gets a -10. The Idea of only 512Mb. storage is a shambles. Just try downloading some aps. Insufficient Storage message nearly every time. I would never purchase another Motorola Phone again. I would not have one as a gift either. Do not waste your money on Motorola. Stay with the Main Suppliers.

Hi guys , I have been using the XT535 phone since last 3 years..Here I want to share my True experiences.. here I am listing its good and bad.. Good: 1. 512MB RAM & 1GB ROM allow you install many apps and later u can shift the apps to SD card. Bad: 1. Hangs/Stuck often and you will have to take out the battery to restart even power button doesn't respond. 2. Since OS is Android 2.3 , many apps for Cabs like Meru,OLA etc can not be installed. 3. Battery life last for 1 day if used and fo 1.5 days if not used. Over all I felt ..In today sceneario do not purchase this mobile it will be waste of money..Instead go for other mobiles like redmi 2 prime or lenevo 6000 plus which is quite cheaper and better than this If you are already user than keep updates Off because after update phone will keep on hanging...

Robust! Simply refuses to die phone!!! Takes every beating and wants more!! Can be called a jeep-phone! Used this for more than a year and the only drawback is 512MB Ram and camera acts as if its less than 2 MP. otherwise its a nice phone!

I had the same network issue and the irony is u cannot fix it, the reason being this phone is only 2 band 3G, if u compare with other phones they all have at least 4 bands.I used to throw my phone on the wall all the times for the same reason as I play a lot of online games, but this phone is shameless each time it came back to life.Finally bought Xperia SP.

it depends what you have done with the H/S in the past, if you have rooted, what are the apps you downloaded, if you have uninstalled the unwanted apps, if you have any ram booster app, how much is the internal memory remaining ??? plz mention the recent changes and apps downloaded for best possible solution.

I am using this phone since more than a year. It is very rugged phone. Most of the people here commented on various aspects of the phone. Main issue with this phone which I faced with this phone is "Signal reception". Not able to gain the signal quickly, once it is lost due to any reasons (like passing through low signal zone, restarting the phone, may be in the lift or so on). I have compared this phone with various other phones in the weak signal areas and found that other phone are able to pick the signal very fast and my Motorola defy xt takes a lot to become normal. This is one of the main reason, I am planning to change this phone. It becomes useless for couple of minutes (some times up to 10 minutes) once signal lost occurs. This phone can not be trusted during any emergency. Other things are good and manageable as compared to other high end phones. It seems that signal reception problem is in the system design itself. Display clarity is very 2 good. Battery last for a day for heavy uses. May be this low signal reception issues are not common in the western countries.

Moto has stopped the sales in India so we don't expect anymore updates from Moto in India, specially when moto is being overtook by Google. We are expecting some magnificent Handsets in 2014 to be launched in India most probably the Droid series.The biggest drawback of droid series is it doesn't have external storage, but all Moto(Google) H/S will have unlimited cloud space which is not very efficient but more convinient for on the go users.Looking forward for nextgen gadgets from Moto.

The best, I am tired of trying to break this phone, anytime better than sony/nokia/HTC in durability.It's got drop proof case, waterproof body and scratchproof screen.It hangs only when you either don't move the apps to SDcard or you have upgraded to higher Android version.It's RAM is 512MB so upgrading to higher version is not recommended but there is no app that doesn't work on this one, do not use a class10/class 6 memory card, use of class 4 8GB/16GB is recommended as compatibility is the best.If using a bluetooth headset make sure it has EDR for smooth performance.If the phone still hangs that means there are a lot of unsupported media files(mostly avi vedios), try converting to mp4 only then xfr to SDcard.

Enough of this phone,I never use a handset more than 6 months.But this one : I smashed it on the wall - still works, opened the phone underwater : stopped for a while when dry worked again, juiced and squeezed the battery - straightened it still works.It just doesn't want to die man.I am selling this and getting Xperia SP.

Sorry to reply late but this happens only bcoz of the bandwidth of you Service provider in your area, for example my Defy Xt535 doesn't work on GSM in my area and only works on WCDMA for DOCOMO in Pune.If yoy try to change in settings->wireless and networks->mobile networks->network mode - try to change between "GSM only" and "WCDMA only" you will see the diff.

built in sofware caused that camera 5mp is poor. use zoom fx paid version, and believe me, quality for 5mp camera defy xt535 will surprised you. the problem built in software is about "auto focus". try zoom fx, and setting auto focus for maximum quality 5mp xt535 camera, and ofcourse secondary camera to. yes, picture quality will be different.

Not a bad phone, but slow to load. It doesnt connect to the hands free radio in my HiLux, unlike my my previous Nokia. I work in construction, so i do appreciate the waterproof and drop/ dust proof case. Generally just what i need, but I would like it to connect via bluetooth to my Toyota!

My Defy XT lasts for 1.5 to 2 days when background data is off. I use fb, web, calls, and etc. I am a very old user of Motorol since begining. I started my Motorola Journey with C-139 to Motoming A1200 then L6,Motokey Mini EX109 then android XT311,and now XT535. My all Motorola phones are still working and they are in very good condition. C-139 is a masterpiece, I think, still with original battery and running well since 2007 and still lasts a day when I use it sometimes. My Defy XT has been submerged into water three times since I bought it without problems at all. I am waiting for X phone to be launched in India. Thank you,

It depends on what you are using the phone for, surfing the web can use a lot of battery as can talking on the phone and listening to music. I find mine lasts me the day from 6am till 8pm. That lasts me using Facebook, emails, listening to music and making a few phone calls

it has 1650mAh battery which easily lasts for 1 day, I use internet for 2 Hrs play online games for 3-4 Hrs use phone calls for about 1 Hr listen to music for about 2-3 Hrs and watch videos for about 1-2 Hrs and it still remains with 15-20% battery, nice huh ??

This phone is my best buddy, it can understand my voice commands like a human, I don't have to search my phone when lost as a simple button on my plantronics bluetooth headphone makes it ring by just pressing a button, no matter how rainy the weather is it works just fine, it can count how many steps i have walked and how much calories I burnt, it's battery lasts for one complete day even with heavy internet and gaming usage.It's not so big like stupid samsung cheap biult quality phone, this phone is truly royal and defying.

Hi buddy...tbh your rant screams that you're a salesman in real life..and most likely work for motorola? I am aware of the features you have underlined obviously, and yes it is a nice handset to use...better than my previous mb525 that i had for 2 years. i am mearly pointing out the facts to anyone looking at buying, that once 2.3.7 is sprawled across your 2gb of internal memory you are left with 388 useable mb, surely you as a salesman should know this, its in the basic app management.This problem i never had on my old 525 as the OS was fitting with 2gb internal. An OS 1.5 times the size of the old one would be better matched to 4gb internal thats all.

hello buddy, well rather than complaining about the memory if you look at ther brighter side you get 1GB ROM which is actually equal in performance to 2GB internal storage and you do have the option to move app to SD card, if you are really fond of this phone which I am, you will learn to clear history and cache of the applications which will easily free at 10-50MB of space every week, trust me this is phone is better than razr xt910 - it's screen clarity and picture depth is much better, it's super in battery performance, pocket friendly and it's water, dust , scratch and shock proof.When installed android framework it's theft proof as well.I have never experienced an interface better than motoswitch it's even better than Iphone 5 UI, perfect is what this phone is and is lifeproof as well.What do you say now ??

I have been using this from 1 month now and I am fond of this one, doesn't happen anything when taking pictures underwater !!! fell many times on screen side - not a single scratch, battery lasts for 24 hrs with internet usage (2hrs) music and 4 hrs gaming( mostly SWAT and Sniper X2), and you can't even compare it with defy+ coz it's got front camera and motoswitch and much more slim, damn it's good !!!

Great phone but im gutted by the major lack of internal memory, i have about 6 apps on the phone and its chocked, it comes with lots of apps that you cant uninstall or move to sd card. its enough of an annoyance to make me not buy another moto. 388 internal mb is a joke, mabe in the year 2000 that would have been acceptable.

Compare with CPU, DEFY+ is too good. in future you can easily upgarde with Android 4.0 with CPU clock upto 1.5Ghz ( this speed is possible with DEFY+ OMAP CPU only)

Hi everyone, I am a big fan of moto phones, just the name increases my steroid levels probably becoz I love motorbikes and my first phone was a moto L7 then L9 then motoming a1200 then a moto rockr and now moto defy XT( after I used 3 Sony Walkman phones). This is the best peice of electronic equipment I ever had.It has a clarity that even a real photo in your hands won't with a pixel clarity of 265ppi which is pretty good, this phone is not very big to feel uncomfortable in pocket and is fast enough to handle any app a quad core can.

I'm using the XT535 and the mobile feel and rubberized back is good. The ginger bread 2.3.6 is sufficient for optimum performance (although no upgrades are available).. Since the internal memory is low downloading lots of apps will load the device. Keep those mess less and enjoy better!!

Defy plus is more thougher than DEFY XT, if your planning to buy defy, please go for only defy +, this phone has more features than defy XT, except battery backup.

Hi, I have using motorola defy series for more one and half years, first i bought defy, it was quite slow so i upgraded to Defy + which is awesome after using it for more than a year, again i upgraded to DEFY XT, defy xt battery back is good. phone is little bit slow and internal memory is very low 512 mb , where as defy + has 2gb internal memory. Camera clarity is very low. And upgradable to ICS four. Over performance of phone is average.

Some cons are-> 1.Not able to connect to proxy network through WI-FI but you can work with opera browser by configuring proxy setting. 2.camera quality is low in low light but works fine in bright light 3.sound quality is low but you can manage by making a cal while you are listening the song. 4.voice search is not working properly. pros- stylish,good looking tough phone with long battery life and a fast processor in low budget what else you need in this price truly satisfied with my phone and last not least motorola reliability puts extra charm in it.

Can't organise Contacts into Groups. RAM is limited. No way to close open Apps / tasks. Wake up button should be positioned on the face of the phone instead of on top right side. Only Quickoffice lite comes preinstalled.

I don't have the phone yet but I will tell you that my optimus is really slow and when I make phone calls it just hangs up! My camera dose not have really good zoom! I'm waiting to get the defy but there are plus sides. You get the front camera its way faster and it has better zoom! If the phone freezes try and call them to let them no what's going on!

I am using my Motorola Defy Xt535,for instance surfing on internet and suddently the touch screen stop working so I wait 5 minutes, after that I pushed the restart/on/off button, but it does not work! So I have to put out the battery. And it have happened several times in one month.

Phones with non-removable batteries have a specific button sequence which enables the users to reset the phone if it freezes or hangs, equivalent to battery pull that we have. PS: Oh and pulling out dexy XT's back-cover is a real tough thing :-s lol

That's sad.:( I can tell I had this problem on day 1. I did a factory reset, rebooted and signed up again with gmail and it's been working fine ever since. I hope it gets ICS soon and that might fix the issue. The Chinese already got it, I heard :O

I am using this phone since last 4 months. Battery is (with 2X battery optimization app loaded)good for 1.5 day use with moderate voice calls and internet uses. Phone hanging problem was experienced only two time till date and that time none of the keys will work. Only option was to restart the phone after removing the battery (which is little tough). I have loaded more than 50 apps in the phone. Not experienced any other problems till now. Now a days I used to switch off my phone daily once to clear all unwanted stuff.

I reset the phone several times over the last few months. sadly, still the same. Try everything possible include change sim card. I read on other forum it is because of its android version 2.3.7 which makes the network abit unstable.

i had some primary issues. like contacts backup and volume settings and battery.. but i customized it as i wanted.. and now its been 2 days and my battery is still on 20% (after listening songs for 3 hours and call time of 2 hours.. ) i guess customization will solve any major issues.. for me its 9/10 for the new XT.. but much will be appreciated if i get any Firmware upgrade... rest.. its better option to have a DEXY XT..

Buy it if you want a avg andiord phone without spending too much. I hav been using this phone for 2 months. The phone is pretty good for an average andriod device. It is water resistant to some level. But cannot say the same about dust resistance. The phone was dropped from 2 feet height to soft floor n now theres a bit of dust in between the phone display and screen. Camera its nothing great to speak about too. Battery life is average. Oh and buy the way dont even try to ask motorola for support. They suck at it. I have tried and failed. lol

Rajesh, its not the earphones, hey are perfect infact amazing music you get with them, the problem is with the android 2.3.7, have checked it out with other phone brands with the same android version, they have the same issues. There is a trick to bring the volume higher, all you have to do is listen to a song on full volume & answer a call simultaneously, once you drop the call the volume spikes, hope Google fixes this soon ...

Its enuf....coz though we hav around 200k android apps, you will never ever need all of them....try app saver and save the dnlded files...dont keep the apps installed if you dont need it...that way you will save memory....i still hav 250mb free coz i uninstall useless apps....306mb is more than enuf

no doubt about that! also, the build quality is fantastic. I am using a used L6 since 2006 and to date it's working great, more than my expectations. And what a journey for this little thing that has had many falls in its life, drenched in rains (dried overnight & restarted the next day), battery still stock with normal calling lasting to 1.5 days etc. The only issue with Moto phones is the SAR value is on the higher side compared to other phones like Samsung, if that concerns you ;) btw to conclude Moto rocks *****

I m happy with every features ,really awesome with battery life,touch sensivity and all Android features u can imagine. Motorola claims this phone is ip67 certified. Motorola customer care says this phone is "water resistance" and not "water proof". May be they are entangling customers with the definition of "resistance" and "proof". However my defy xt535 couldnt survive dipping test. water left dark patches on the screen. And customer care says water must have seeped through speakers or microphone (then how its water resistance, idiots ) and you'll need to pay for its service. However no other functioning issues were seen after water dip test. Otherwise nice phone, but dont rely on water resistance tag. happy defying

Alright, overall performance is a good phone. ↲the good> waterproof, add on front cam so u can do video call. Improved back cover slide lock. ↲the bad> resolution remained the same as compare to previous version of defy, barely visible under direct sunlight.↲ another worst thing is the four function keys, they are very useful but the brightness are extremely irritating since it's separated from the screen, and disallowed to tweak or adjust simultanously with screen brightness.

Total internal memory is 1GB. Available internal memory for user's app download is not more than 300MB. A bad mistake by Motorola. The standard these days is minimum 4GB for total internal memory. Something is always missing in Moto's phone specs. Eats badly into their sales revenue big time...
